I noticed a long line forming so quickly joined in, not quite knowing what the attraction was. At the walk up window, you can order sandwiches like milza (spleen and lung) or fried street food like panelle (chickpea fritters). I got the caprese panino and it hit the spot. I loved watching the staff work together. It was like watching a real life episode of "The Bear". Highly recommend a stop here for when you need a bite. They seemed to also have tables where you can sit down but that service seemed a bit slower.

The food here is incredible, the best meal we had in Palermo. The calamari was flavorful and tender. The mixed seafood salad was delicious. Our waiter was patient and helpful.

Beautiful patio, prices are good and it’s about it for the pros They have a big beer menu but only have moretti. The chicken cutlets sandwich is the worst I’ve had. Their traditional pasta were good. Service is rude as expected. 1€ fee per Person to sit down. Keep walking

Very good fritti!!! Especially the arrancine, wow. The best we had in palermo by far. The sandwiches also were phenomenal - very flavorful. The service was VERY slow, even worse than is normal 😂 but worth it for how great the food was!!

The aperol spritz’s were great, and pasta was delicious and well priced - especially the pasta with tuna ragout which was the dish of the day. The servers were all friendly. We went for dinner relatively earlier so it was a bit quieter than other restaurants on the street.

Staff is very friendly, helpful and speak good English. Food is overall really delicious. We especially recommend Panelle, Caponata di Melanzane and and pasta dish. Millefogue unfortunately wasn’t very good. We paid for 3 people 61eur.

Had an amazing dining experience at Bisso Bistrot! The vibe is awesome, with a cozy yet modern feel. It's in a perfect location too. The food, though, is the real star of the show. Every dish I tried was bursting with flavor, but I have to highlight the basmati rice with fried chicken. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned, making it the ideal accompaniment to the rest of the amazing menu. The quality of the food is well worth the price (it is very affordable too). Highly recommend!

Lovely place with good Sicilian food. The service is really good and fast. The menu offers a great variety of food so if you are a vegetarian or a meat eater you will find what you want. Quantities are good and meals tasty. If you're nearby give it a try

Cute restaurant and very affordable prices. However, I had high hopes for this restaurant, but was a bit disappointed.. The service was ok, but way too fast. I ordered and not even 2 minutes after I got my food. Which made me wonder if the wanted me out of the restaurant super fast? You finish the starter and not even 2 minutes after you have your plate. It might be to get more tables during the night, but it makes the overall experience less enjoyable. Feels like were in the US, not Italy. The food was good, but the pasta was definitely too salty for me. Haven’t tried the desserts, but they looked good!

Delicious pastries! The tiny gelato sandwich and delizia pistachio cake were so tasty. And the cannolicchio was perfect! Great coffee too.

After trying many cannolis in Palermo, I can confidently say this was by far the best. In addition to their amazing cannolis, we sampled a variety of mignons and an iris — and everything was absolutely perfect. The atmosphere was wonderful too, filled with local workers grabbing a quick bite and kids returning from school, which made it feel genuinely authentic. The host was incredibly warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. We had food elsewhere in Palermo that was half as good for twice the price. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone visiting — I honestly wish I could eat here every day.

Amazing. Pastries as beautiful as they are delicious. Good coffee, lovely chocolate. Friendly, decent prices, and they deliver to a lot of restaurants too, like the excellent Osteria Alivàru. If I lived near to this place I'd either be huge or I'd have vitamin deficiency. Not a lot of veg here.

While the cakes themselves were nice, the man who served us was rude. Obnoxious clearly into his phone more than serving us and being somewhat stuck up with my friend's best attempt to speak Italian seemingly consistently misunderstanding which cake she wanted, one or two pieces of. He then proceeded to play with his phone as he was half wrapping our package and generally seemed just annoyed at our existence. The taste of cakes was definitely not worth the attitude that we were given in this place

Great place for a coffee and something to nibble. Amazing croissants with pistachios and the best arancini in the city. I highly recommend arancini with carne (beef).

Pasticceria Cappello is truly the best sweet shop in Palermo. The quality of their baked goods is outstanding, and I absolutely love it. Every time I stay in Palermo, this place makes me fall in love with the city even more. I ended up going there every day to enjoy their delicious cakes and pastries. Highly recommended!

Local cafe/pastry shop. Came here to check if it’s actually the best cannoli in Palermo. Maybe in Palermo it may be the best but i’ve had better. Everyone may like their cannolis in many ways. Their cannoli was different. Did taste authentic. Coffee was good. Service was good, staff were friendly. The best part is this shop is local so the prices are not that expensive. 1 cannoli & a coffee for 2.5 euro! They have alot of variety I would visit again! Highly recommend.

A piece of Palermo’s history in the form of delicious food. Easy, affordable and fast and you get to try some tasty local specialities. Best to come early in the morning it tends to get packed later.

A small bakery that’s clean and offers reasonable prices. The entrance is a bit tricky, but if you need a quick bite, this is definitely the spot.

26/10/2023 I wanted to try something local, made on spot, not the frozen ones; and yes, I was pleasantly impressed: the dough and the ingredients are fresh and good. I recommend this place so you can taste tasty local products and to have a comparison point of taste in everything you’ll try in your Palermo journey It’s a little bit difficult to find, because is inside a gang of a building , but also is near the Garibaldi Theater so it’s not impossible.

The best that you can found in Palermo!! It's super homemade and tasty! Very highly recommend! The service also is very kind and gentle and the price is just 1€ each pastry! Fantastic!

Recommended by a palermitan friend, this place is really good for snacks. Really fresh as well, everything I tasted was really good. I think the whole lot you see in the picture was a total of about €4. There are a few stools but it’s better to just take away. The staff was friendly enough. The best part is that I didn’t even feel grossed out after eating all this!

After seeing this place online we had to give it a try and I wasn’t disappointed! This cannoli is the BEST one I ever had that now I don’t want cannoli’s around where I live anymore lol. The line was about 15-20 min wait and like many say, you can share one because it’s so big. No place to really sit and eat at the garden because there’s lots of people doing the same thing. The system of lines is controlled and appreciated.

We joined the very long line at the famous I Segreti del Chiostro while in Palermo. This shop inside the Santa Caterina Monastery prepares pastries using ancient recipes passed down from the nuns. I tried the pistachio cannoli — crisp shell, creamy filling, and perfectly balanced sweetness, though for me it was massive (honestly, too big!). Staff were friendly and patient despite the line. Overall, a must-stop if you love authentic Sicilian pastries from an iconic institution. Saluti

An incredibly pleasant, peaceful place in the heart of Palermo. The pastry shop is located in a convent and promotes the baked goods of local nuns. The charming courtyard, inlaid with mosaics and dotted with citrus trees, provides a beautiful scenery for sweet treats. I have visited this place twice during my stay. Both times, I walked in with a smile. I'm not sure whether I was more impressed by the place itself or the pastries. The latter definitely have plenty of sugar, but that means you don't have to worry about ordering larger portions. I only tried a few delicacies, but I definitely recommend trying the cannoli with ricotta cream and a pistachio sprinkle. You can also buy some gifts insiders including original liquer made of opuntia or pomegranate. A magical, soothe experience in Palermo.

Probably was once only a local place, thanks to online reviews much busier. Waited almost 20 mins to order but it was worth it! Cannolo was HUGE and gratefully shared. I had to try the minne di virgini - very different with chocolate pieces inside and cloves and cinnamon flavors in a marzipan-like filling. We visited the church first and had a chance to see the monastery and climb to the rooftop, but this is not required to get to the dolceria.

Once you arrive at the entrance it’s a short walk up stairs and down the hallway. There was a line, it took 10-ish minutes and then you’re inside with your number. Once your number is called you quickly place your cannoli order and desserts. The process was too overwhelming for me personally but I think it’s a great place to try many Sicilian desserts for a fair price. The cannoli was too sweet for me, it’s also huge so I recommend splitting it between 2 people. The marzipan was really nice! The fountain area where one can sit was crowded. Overall a nice experience but one could also skip it if they’ve tried Sicilian desserts before

We came here around 2pm on a Saturday in November. Walk to the church and enter on the first level side door. Walk up the stairs and follow the signs to the bakery. There is a line and a woman up front explaining how it works. You receive a number. When your number is called you order. The staff or nun gives you a receipt. You take it to the cashier and pay, then you receive your food. We ordered 2 cannoli, an espresso, and an americano for 12 euro. We took it outside the bakery but within the convent to a pigeon populated square with blue tiles and a fountain. Everyone eating cannoli. Lovely.

Very unique location and ambiance. The cannolis here are big and well done but the filling is a little on the sweet side and not as delicate and creamy ricotta as those we had at top places in Catania. To us the Catania style was superior.

Interesting place but be very careful of the places with food out front and no menu. I was charged €14 for a limoncello spritz and small plate of Sicilian eggplant. The customers next to me were charged €23 for bread and a bottle of beer each. That place was a tourist ripoff.

Our first Sicilian market experience and it didn't let us down. Lots of vendors yelling and singing at each other. Some fresh and not so fresh produce on offer. The punnets of strawberries were starting to ferment in the heat, juicy though. A lot of the stalls were selling the same tourist items but there was a lot of fresh food vendors too.

Visited Mercato del Capo while in Palermo. The atmosphere was lively and chaotic in the best way, with stalls selling fresh seafood, produce, cheeses, and street snacks. Grabbed some fritto misto di mare — tasty and only €5. It gets busy, but that’s part of the fun and energy. Overall, a fantastic place to get lost and dive into true local flavors. Saluti

Pretty place, lots of the exact same products between different stalls, food is decent, most of it is fried. Vegetables, fruits, aperol, souvenirs, jars of pestos and pastes, spices and some pasta is sold here.

The Mercato del Capo is one of the essential experiences in Palermo. Walking through this vibrant, historic market is like stepping into the city's lively, beating heart—it’s loud, colorful, and completely authentic. We spent time walking through the bustling stalls and taking in the incredible atmosphere. The market is packed with fresh produce, fish, meats, and street food. The quality is exceptionally high, which we proved with a simple purchase: the pomegranate juice I had here was truly the best in the world! It was incredibly fresh and vibrant, likely due to the season. I also bought a selection of herbs to bring back home to Germany, a perfect, flavorful souvenir. Beyond shopping, the market is a fantastic place for people-watching. It's fascinating to see the locals interacting with the vendors, hearing the calls of the stall owners, and witnessing the daily hustle and bustle. The energy is infectious. If you are looking for an authentic taste of Palermitan life, want to buy incredibly fresh ingredients, or just want the best fruit juice you've ever had, Mercato del Capo is a must-visit.

Very traditional and clean and safe, lots local foods and pastries

A few street food vendors and small stores selling seafood and daily goods. I only walked by, as I didn’t feel it’s worth spending more time there.

We had dinner at Osteria Ballarò yesterday. We’ve been having great foods in Sicily and compared to other places we’ve been to, Ballaro seems rather overpriced although the food wasn’t better. Two of us shared a seafood antipasti, melanzane, sardine pasta and a lamb dish. The pasta was somewhat watery, melanzane sauce too creamy. The staff was friendly, courteous but they seemed a bit chaotic in the end. Including one appetitive and two antipasti, one primo and one second the bill was 100 euros.

I hold on the 5 stars because food was great but could have more taste (still very nice). The sardine pasta lacked a but of flavour. The red gambas were on point, simple dish of very high quality. However it’s a very nice place to have a very nice dinner and would back to try many more dishes, it’s easy to enjoy your time here, very nice service and a really good wine availability.

Four of us had lunch. My wife thought her tuna dish was inedible. I tasted it and I agree. Our other plates were fine.

Really traditional Osteria, was recommended by a great friend of ours. The maître has a great personality. The food was ok, 4 shrimps perfectly cooked but slightly underwhelming flavor wise. The deserts were nice: The tiramisu was an interpretation of the desert, in the shape of a chocolate egg, not my favorite. but the star of the night was the wine, super crisp and mineral. Would not repeat even thought we are coming back to Palermo in 10 days

This restaurant was excellent. They had a brand new room next to the other location that was really quiet and beautiful. The food was amazing, very good and worth the price. There were also a few vegetarian options which was really nice. The staff was warm and welcoming. I chose the spaghetti con ricotta, melanzane and pesto, and the tiramisu. I recommend both

Beautiful place, excellent service, but overpriced and limited options on the menu. Gnocchi was around 25€, a glass of wine 7€ and dessert an average 10€ (tiramisu in the pic).

I went with two friends, and we tried the tasting menu. Unfortunately, the food itself was underwhelming — the flavours felt unbalanced, and the sausages were so salty they were almost inedible. Overall, the food felt uninspired; we would have been better off picking something fresh from the farmers market. Service was attentive and friendly, definitely better than the food, and the ambience was fine but nothing remarkable. Regardless, the restaurant was busy and lively, with guests clearly having a good time

First, the positive: An effort was made to provide us with service in French, the food was excellent (except one dish that I talk about in the constructive section) and the wine suggested was excellent. Now, the constructive. We had a reservation; we failed to understand that if we wanted the tasting menu, we had to reserve it too. Our mistake. However no effort was made to help us pick dishes that would give a somewhat comparable experience; they also could have asked the chef (or pretend to ask the chef). Then, after being served our dishes, no one came to see us to inquire if they were ok; the spaghetti dish was undercooked. The service team was clearly overwhelmed and had little to no time for us. We had specified we were celebrating an anniversary, no mention (not looking for more than being wished happy anniversary). We were not offered dessert nor coffee. After 15 minutes waiting we realized we needed to go to the cashier to pay. Not a big deal, just an accumulation of irritants that would not be an issue by themselves, but they added up. Over this trip through Italy and Greece, we ate at several Michelin Bibs. Every time the experience was impeccable. This time, we walked out thinking we could have gone elsewhere and potentially get a better experience.

We booked a month in advance and had been looking forward to this dinner, as it was our honeymoon. At first, the restaurant seemed charming, and we were welcomed with a complimentary starter. But from there, things went downhill. We ordered the chef’s tasting menu. While the food was good—not amazing—it took an incredibly long time between courses. Even worse, the staff didn’t clear our table between dishes. By the time we were served the last course, there was still leftover snail shells from the first dish. To make matters worse, we found a hair in one of the dishes. We weren’t offered any compensation or even an apology, and we were still charged the full amount. Additionally, there was a large Italian group near us loudly singing all night, making the atmosphere feel more like a market than a fine dining experience. I couldn’t even hear my partner speak. For dessert, we were served homemade ice cream, which didn’t impress us at all. Overall, it was quite expensive. We came prepared to pay for a quality meal and experience, but sadly, this evening did not deliver on either.

Absolutely outstanding experience at Buatta Palermo! From the first moment, the hospitality and atmosphere felt truly special elegant yet warm, perfectly reflecting Sicilian charm. We had the tasting menu, majority of the dishes were seafood. It was good, some of these things I have tried for the first time ever. We went for a dinner and the place was packed, so staff was very busy and they forgot our drinks a couple of times. Worth trying, but probably not for a romantic dinner date.

A restaurant that should be removed from the Michelin guide. Nothing special but high prices. The usual flavors. Same as any other restaurant in the main street. So, no specific reason to go here and pay for more. Way overpriced for what is it. And some of the staff, particularly the main members, feel they are doing a favor to you instead of treating clients friendly. Skip this restaurant.

Worthy holder of a Michelin bib gourmand and hence a relief from the endless streets of indistinguishable tourist restaurants. Offers several distinctive Sicilian dishes. Cheaper then one might expect, given the Michelin review.

This place was recommended to us to try a Sicilian burger, after a quick Google review of previous feedback we thought we’d try it. Service was good, had a couple of Sicilian Mules to start with followed by our burgers. Wife had a chicken burger which she was very happy with, really enjoyed it. I had a Buffalo meat burger (with an egg of course 😉), the patty was great as was the filling but unfortunately the bun was over done, to the point it was tough and chewy, put a bit of a downer on the experience. Don’t let my bad bun put you off, I still recommend trying it out.

Are here twice on my visit. We chose to eat outside. Our server (wish I got his name) was really friendly and kind. I got the Italian burger without mayo. Really yummy. Ordered a side of fries to share (there were plenty) and tried their Fudcola which I enjoyed .

OMG! Definitely a place to go to when craving a great dinner in a cozy atmosphere. The burgers actually taste healthier here :) and the salads are so go that even when you are full, you cannot stop eating. The outdoor patio adds to the charm, and the service is so friendly that you'll be definitely back! We tried the onion potatoes, a Buffalo burger and a Tiuana salad accompanied by a glass of beer and prosecco. The prices are very reasonable for the quality you get.

Super nice place in the middle of Palermo. There are many different options from burgers, panini, pizza etc. Very good quality meat. The star is cheesecake for sure so make some room to try it. We had delicious Buffalo Burger and pulled pork plate with slow cooked pork and apple slices and potato wedges. The fries are also great, specially once with bacon and cheese. They have also great beer and salad options. Also gluten-free dessert. Staff is very friendly and they also have little shop where you can buy some dips for cheese and meat and some pistachio and other creams. Super cool place to chill and have good food in Palermo. And once again the cheesecake is absolutely amazing.

We came to this restaurant based on a recommendation from the hosts of the apartment we rented. It’s definitely more of a local spot than a tourist one, which we really appreciated. The food was excellent — top quality — though I’d personally rate it 4+ rather than a full 5. The octopus and calamari were just a little too firm for our taste. Since it was lunchtime and quite busy, we had to remind the waitstaff a couple of times about extra olive oil or water, but I assume it was simply due to how full the restaurant was.

Came here on recommendation from our airbnb host and it did not disappoint!! They were actually booked out when we came so they make us a reservation for the next day and we are so glad we came back!! Food was delicious, especially the fish dishes - super fish and felt like it was mad with love.

We were recommended the restaurant by our B&B and they kindly booked it for us. Making a reservation for dinner is essential. We had the freshest and most delicious carpaccio of amber fish, followed by pasta with cod, Swordfish Palermo style and tiramisu which was delicious. Not to forget the little appetiser we were offered at the beginning. We asked our waiter to recommend a local red wine and the choice was superb. The quality of everything was the best and was excellent value for money. We can see why it was our hosts favourite fish restaurant.

Amazing pasta and wine. We didn’t make a reservation but we arrived very early so they were able to accommodate us for a quick dinner. We ordered a squid ink spaghetti, a prawn pasta with Sicilian red pesto, and a spaghetti with anchovies meatballs, and paired it all with a nice bottle of Sicilian grillo wine - all were very delicious. The dessert mangomisu was a pleasant surprise and not too sweet. P.s. If you prefer your pasta less al dente, you should let the server know in advance.

I have been dining in this restaurant twice consecutively with my wife and have found the hospitality to be excellent and the food of exceptional taste and presentation in Palermo. Will be visting again this Monday 20 Oct 2025.

This fastfood was listed in the guide book. It looks like it is a fastfood chain because we saw others in Palermo. We have ordered Focaccia, fish and chips and a burger to share. It was good except the burger. The meat had a weird taste. We ate on tables inside but it was very noisy due to Roma street right outside. Staff was nice and spoke english fine.

The bright colours of the building enticed us in and we had lunch here! This was the first place we ate at in Palermo and we weren’t disappointed. Staff were very friendly and the food was piping hot and fresh! Would definitely recommend and go again.

We LOVED the food from here absolutely unmatched. Great price and loveliest staff. We had the arancini / panelle / crocchés / fried pizza and it was all freshly made and delicious. Would highly recommend for anyone travelling and wanting a taste of Sicily as well as being good value !!

Very good place for street food. Mainly to take away, they have a range of offers but we only tried their arancini and some sort of small fried pizza. Both were really good, but specially the arancini. I would recommend as a really good option to try their arancini, which they fry in the spot for you.

Although the photo doesn’t give it justice, I enjoyed this panino al gambero rosso which caught my attention. I really enjoyed it. Fast service too if you’re in a rush.

I got the tuna meatballs with pistachio while waiting for the airport bus to fly back home. The pistachio crumble + sauce was really good, while the "fishballs" kinda reminded me of chicken nuggets... and I'm pescatarian lol. I would definitely go back to try other options but I don't think I would order this again...

Skip all the tourist traps, this is where you want to be. With good food & good people! We can’t wait to come back next time we are in town! 5/5!!

A truly enjoyable dining experience from Every perspective! Besides the menu selections there were a number of additional specials so we tasted several appetizers that were all scrumptious. We chose two pastas from the menu - a bucatini with sardines and spaghetti with cuttlefish and bottarga that were both delicious. We finished with the best cannoli either of us has ever had, a very generous serving to share. The wine selections are extensive and we asked for advice on a Sicilian wine to accompany our meal, and were thrilled with their recommendation. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant and you need to book ahead, because it’s a popular establishment.

Lovely midsize restaurant a short distance from Via Labertà in a nice neighborhood. Clean, calm and attractive interior with prompt professional service and a wonderful menu. The food is very good, and the prices very reasonable! I wish I was hungrier when I went in! I shall return.

Best dinner I had in Palermo, hands down. The restaurant serves outstanding fresh seafood, deeply rooted in tradition yet approached with a contemporary twist. An amazing Trattoria with lots of story, family run. We had a great lunch, the fried sage leave was surprisingly good! We also had an amazing pasta, very good recommendations, and a great wine list. The service was also excellent and attentive.

This is one of the best restaurant I have eaten in during my time in Palermo. This cozy restaurant has an impressive wine selection. The food was great and I loved the raw prawns. The squid ink pasta was the only underwhelming dish, but well compensated by the excellence of others. Worth a visit.

Cioccolateria Lorenzo is a fantastic spot for chocolate and coffee lovers in Palermo. We were searching for a good café and ended up in a place that truly delivers on indulgence. Their chocolate cakes were absolutely delicious, and both the cappuccino and the chocolate drink were excellent. Just a heads-up—the hot chocolate is so rich and dense, it’s practically a full meal. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it a great stop for anyone with a sweet tooth. We didn’t try the pralines, but they looked top-quality. If you’re craving a coffee break with a serious chocolate upgrade, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Lovely small café. Just sit down and they will take your order. Coffee taste nice, cakes are amazing. A good start for the morning. Nice vibes. Rather to go how I can imagine.

A sadly disappointing experience. The mud cake was dry and lacking in flavour. The point of a mud cake is to be more wet (like mud), the opposite of dry, so that was a shame. The double chocolate mousse was weird; you would expect 'double chocolate' to be 'a lot of chocolate', but it tasted mostly like raspberry. It was, in that sense, slightly interesting and unique, which I can appreciate, but a different name would have been better. The carrot cake's flavour was fine enough, but it was dry and felt like it had been in the fridge for a few days, it didn't taste fresh. The white chocolate milk was too sweet; the first moment of tasting it, it tasted nice, but then the sweetness overwhelmed any flavour. The dark chocolate - well, look at the picture, it looks like milk chocolate. I asked to add chili to it (to enrich the flavour of the dark chocolate), but there were just some supermarket chili flakes on the top. We liked the creaminess/thickness of the chocolate milk, but in general it felt and tasted more like a molten chocolate bar than professional chocolate milk. All in all, I would be completely fine with this in a random restaurant, but I expect better in a cioccolateria. The place is also very chaotic; loud, cramped, hot (inside), waiters don't really pay attention to you out of their own initiative... The first time we came inside, lacking any menu, greeting, or anything, we eventually decided to ask a waiter, who distractedly said it was better to come back another time, so then we just left - but when we came back the next day in the morning, it still felt the same. Our cakes were eventually delivered at the same time, but after that it took about ten more minutes to receive our hot chocolate milk - and mine was already cold when it was delivered... Not how a cioccolateria should feel.

This was, undoubtedly, the best meal in two weeks of driving around Sicily. Food was excellent, in particular the caponata, spaghetti with aubergine & sausage, and an incredibly fresh mackerel. The owner is very nice, and speaks good English. Shame we only found it on our way to the airport, or else would probably have gone again.

I was really disappointed with my visit to Trattoria da Pino. Even though they had five staff members working and the restaurant wasn't busy, the service was incredibly slow. I ended up spending two hours there just to have a few small dishes, which felt like way too long. Unfortunately, the food didn't help either - everything looked and tasted like it had been microwaved rather than freshly prepared. On top of that, they didn't even have any desserts available when I asked. To make matters worse, I expected the meal to be reasonably priced, but it definitely wasn't cheap. Overall, not what I hoped for.

One of the best meals of my life! The food was incredible. Our server was so kind in sending to the table whatever they thought was their recommendation. This place was suggested to us and we would also recommend to anyone, the best food we have had in Palermo. We had the swordfish rolls, the ricotta cake, swordfish, spaghetti, And caponata. This charming, family-run trattoria is a true local gem, open only for lunch. You won’t find many tourists here, but you will enjoy delicious food at genuine local prices. By far, the best experience we had in Palermo. Food was local, extremely tasty, everyone was smiling and helped us around. I cannot recommend it enough - but note, this is not a place polished to attract tourists. It is an honest local joint. A must: spaghetti with fish, spaghetti with sardines, stuffed sardines, stuffed meat, stuffed eggplant, caponata, cassata and house wine!

Oh my god, this cannoli place is a must try. There are five different filling and topping options and they fill them freshly upon order. I had a small one orange ricotta filling with pistachios and orange topping, and it was heavenly. My friends were super happy with what they ordered. They also serve granite and ice creams. I’m definitely going back today to try other options.

The gluten free cannoli are what I was hoping for and they are delicious. The service is nice too. I’m putting one star as the gluten free went from 3.80 to 4.50€ in a week! 20% inflation for us gluten free people. So I put one star hoping the owner will revise this price policy .

Probably the best cannoli we had during our trip! Fresh, crispy, and very sweet. Definitely recommend sharing one portion between two people if you don’t want to go into a sugar coma 🙂 Highly recommended!

Best Cannoli I have ever tried. This is probably one of the best places in Sicily to try cannoli and if you come to Palermo you must stop by. The shell is crunchy but not too hard, just perfect, and they have different fillings to choose from and toppings to add on the sides. The fillings are also spot on, creamy but not overly sweet, just perfect. I tried the classic, pistachio, and hazelnut. I could not fault any! Also, a very good touch, if you are allergic to nuts, they will prepare yours at the back to avoid any potential cross contamination.

THE BEST CANNOLI I EVER ATE! I ate Cannolis at multiple cities in Italy , But Cannoli and Company are the winners! Uffff! A must try if you’re in Palermo. Their pistachio cannoli was out of the world!

classic cannoli was good choice. cannoli filled in front of you, mine was with ricotta cheese and I chose pistachio topping and sugar powder. I had cannoli before and this one was really good. Came on Monday before closing, so there was no queue. 3,20€ was the size I chose, there are bigger or smaller, with chocolate glaze or classic.

The eggplant-flavored pasta was rich with a strong tomato taste — I loved it. The bread for the octopus sandwich was excellent. The staff were very friendly and even brought us a fan. Overall, a wonderful experience.

I had an amazing experience at this Italian restaurant in Palermo. The staff were truly outstanding – professional, welcoming, and always attentive, making sure everything was perfect. I started with a traditional appetizer platter paired with an Aperol, and it was simply exceptional – a real taste of Sicily. Then came the pizza… and honestly, it left me speechless. What can I say... the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 1 is because I should’ve had the guts to confront the waiter directly - and I didn’t. That's on me. Still, I just can’t let this one slide. I ordered a carbonara and a spritz. Before I even managed to do that, three different waiters had already been to my table — one with the menu, another to take the order, and yet another trying to take it again, clearly unaware it was already done. Nevermind. When the dish arrived, it was obvious right away it had been cooked with cream - which, as anyone who’s ever had a real carbonara knows, should never happen. And that was just the beginning. The guanciale (or whatever kind of meat it was) wasn’t mixed into the sauce at all but rather generously sprinkled on top of the finished pasta, as if it were a garnish. Because of that, the sauce itself was pretty much tasteless until the very end, after I mixed everything and let it sit for a while. The fat from the guanciale hadn’t emulsified with the rest of the sauce either — it just sat there, separate and greasy. The “meat” was about 90% fat, and the few actual pieces were so tough it was hard to chew through them. You could even see the black, burned edges. Out of nearly two weeks of dining in Sicily, this was hands down the most disappointing meal — I honestly didn’t think it was possible to mess up a simple carbonara in so many ways at once. When I followed my waiter inside to pay, another one stopped me to ask how he could help. I said I was heading in to settle the bill, and he asked if I remembered my table number — while another waiter was already at the counter preparing it. I wouldn’t even mention it if the level of disorganisation weren’t so absurdly obvious. The only redeeming parts of the experience were the spritz (which was fine), the charm of the little street, and the rebound tiramisu I treated myself to at a restaurant on the next street over.

Dined at Osteria Al Casareccio twice – once for lunch and again for dinner – and both visits were exceptional. On my first visit, I came in during an off hour when most restaurants were closed. Jet-lagged and needing a quick meal before an important call, I was so grateful the team kindly packed my order to go. Their hospitality was warm and accommodating. The menu is impressively thoughtful and diverse for such an understated location. The pasta busiata with uni and local gambero rosso was a standout – rich, fresh, and beautifully balanced. Their marinated shrimp was equally excellent, and even the bread deserves a mention for being fresh and perfectly crusty. Wonderful food, lovely team, and a welcoming vibe whether you’re dining in or grabbing something on the go. Highly recommend.

Street Cafe in an old alleyway, decked with lights. They served awesome food, but I had to ask for the check, bill, 6 x. The sixth time I was stood by the till. I won't go there again. They value new custom over repeat custom.

Tasty Arancina which is made fresh per order. I really liked the chicken and curry one. The place is more of a to-go restaurant wiry limited seating capacity. The staff is friendly and speak english. The prices are ok as the place is in the center of Palermo.

This was my favourite snack during a month long trip in Italy. But in Arancinandos I found them a bit lacking in taste. Thumbs up for cooking them on the spot instead of precooking!

Fabulous restaurant. Loved the ethos of menu (wish theyd left them on table for us to read fully after ordering)., quirky style of decor..food was delicious. Recommend booking or arriving before 7pm as at 730 we were unable to get a table inside.. was a bit chilly eating outside in February. (No patio heaters).

The food and prices at Osteria Mangia e Bevi were excellent! Much cheaper than a lot of the places in the surrounding areas of Palermo. The calamarti fritti was cooked perfectly and my wife said her soup was delicious. We got some of their house wine, which can be a gamble, and unfortunately this wine wasn’t good. But only a few bucks for half a liter! Overall good experience, we will return!

On the menu you see an AI 'nonna'. And so artificial tastes the food. Nonna has left the building a long time ago, if she has ever been in this kitchen. The food looks nice but is made a long time beforehand, and reheated, so not thoroughly warm. The flavours are flat. And we should have known, when the menu contains photos of the food it's a tourist trap! The bread was nice and fresh. The waiters were nice, didn't had a lot to do and looked bored. Inside the restaurant is nicely decorated and the terrace outside is nice if you have to wait for you Airbnb apartment. So grab a drink, don't order food sit and relax on the terrace and you'll be fine.

A delicious hidden gem. I had refried spaghetti and it was very tasty. I like that this restaurant is in a quiet location, away from the crowds and traffic. Service was speedy and very polite and efficient. 100% recommend.

One of the worse "sicilian" restaurants I have been to. The fried calamri were bitter (I assume old frying oil?) and not crispy. The pasta norma was most boring, and their house specialty, the "fried pasta in a pan" was horribly burnt and was almost inedible. After asking the owner I got a reply that this is a Palermo specialty... Make your own decision if you want to try this... very... special dish

I really enjoyed the design, food and atmosphere at this place. We ordered baccala meatballs and fried calamari for appetizers, spaghetti di seppia and scaloppine al limone as second. I made a small comment about the scaloppine and the owner accepted it respectfully with morality. Thank you I’ll be back.

Arrived at 7pm without a reservation - and glad we did because the Osteria was solid booked within the hour! Started with the polpette made with sardines and raisins - delicious! I had the spaghetto with shrimp, zucchini and pistachio pesto and my husband had the pasta bianco ragu. Wonderful and simple local cuisine! Service was perfect - left us alone and still knew when to approach. Hostess was very friendly! Grazie!

I was teaching a class in Palermo a week ago and brought a group to this restaurant as part of our welcome dinner for the experience. Several different people with different eating habits were accommodated for while we were treated to plate after plate of different appetizers and main courses– all beautifully laid out on the plates and served with care and intentionality. All of the servers were incredibly kind and friendly, helping us have a great experience. Many of the people were first time in Sicily, so they really got to understand the different kinds of flavors and preparations in this cuisine. They even brought us several different amaros to try at the end. It was truly spectacular - one of the best dining experiences I've had in Sicily. The chef came out and we chatted with him! What a nice man. I deeply recommend this place for excellent food and beautiful ambience.

A lovely lunch at Osteria Alivàru da Carlo Napoli. The restaurant is located in the Kalsa, the ancient Arab quarter of Palermo. We started with the baccala sfincione-style, and the roasted octopus with a purée of carrot & ginger. For main courses, the paccheri bolognese and the baked orata with potatoes. Everything was very good!

We were in Palermo for four days and this was the best meal we had. We enjoyed the food immensely and were blown away by the reasonable prices. Service was a little slow, but honestly you should lean into that and take your time enjoying the excellent food. Our visit was on a Tuesday night in late February and the restaurant was busy (unexpected, and evidence of popularity) but not overly crowded. Everything we had was wonderful. Do yourself a favour and get the caponata, seriously.

Wow. The reviews were misleading. After a week in Palermo, trying out various venues on a budget and being amazed, we decided to spoil ourselves with a nice dinner at this seemingly higher scale establishment. The service was a little chaotic where we had 4 different servers coming to our table repeating the same offers. The only redeeming quality of the food we received was the plating, which was entirely contradictory to the quality of the food itself. We received a small pre-sliced, unseasoned portion of medium rare veal (the cook of the meat was not addressed when ordering). We also ordered a filet of seabream with potatoes. The fish came small, breaded, sans potatoes, and the texture proved to be that of a once frozen, then very over-cooked fish (disappointing since fresh fish is practically standard in other Palermo establishments). After reminding a server that the potatoes were missed, I received day-old reheated potatoes in an over-compensating plate. Such a disappointment.

Amazing place! The best caponata we had in Palermo. We also had slow-cooked beef ragu Pasta and spaghetti with sardines and fennel and a side salad of fennel, orange and herring and they made a special pasta order for our 2 year old. All food was exceptional and sophisticated. Service was amazing and they were all friendly and on-the-point. Highly recommend and will come back again.

Absolutely amazing restaurant! This place was recommended by our tour guide Luca and it exceeded expectations. The food was the best we had in Palermo. The guys who served us were brilliant. Really friendly and not shy about recommendations - which were really appreciated and turned out to be the best choices - especially the wine! The menu is simple which I find perfect. The food was of a high quality and cooked perfectly. We had the black pork shank which was huge and so so so good and the Ragu which was some of the best cooked pasta I have ever had anywhere. Aja Mola is a fresh and modern restaurant that offers a brilliant alternative to the classic trattorie so common in Palermo. We went for the seven-course tasting menu, and it was a delight from start to finish. The waiters were attentive throughout, and the sommelier took the time to truly understand our wine preferences. Special mention goes to the dessert: a playful pane, burro e alici transformed into a sweet dish with butter ice cream, crisp bread wafer, and anchovies—one of the most original and memorable desserts I’ve had in a long time. Absolutely recommended.

Very daring and experimental seafood restaurant. Aspiring female head chef looking to get her first Michelin star and deservedly so! I had the spaghetti with scampi, shellfish bisque, cocoa, black garlic, paprika, mantis shrimp and shiso. A little on the rich side but very enjoyable. To start I had the med fritto misto which was a great start! I asked for a little salt though. All and all would definitely go back to explore more of the menu

Everything we ordered was amazing—from the super fresh tuna tartare and fusilli with tuna, to the crispy panko cod with babaganoush. The Riccia with caprino and pear was delicate and delicious, and that dessert (crumble with gelato and anchovies!) was wild—in the best way. Great vibes, friendly service, and some of the most interesting flavours we’ve had in Italy. Can’t wait to come back!

Suck the brain. A bold motto - as is the tasting menu. Unfortunately, bold does not mean good in this case. The menu started off with a small fried triangle that contained burning hot oil to burn your entire mouth. Taste was fish/prawn - alright. Off to a good start. Next up were raw prawns with an oyster mayonnaise that didn't taste like oyster at all. Actually quite good but more focus on the prawns would've been great. Next we had to "suck the brain". The question is: Why? Just putting two severed prawn heads on a plate and telling us to suck it is just low effort. There was no special taste, smart modification or even spice on it. Just cooked heads. This is their statement dish and it just doesn't make sense. The mackerel with tuna was good although the oregano sauce was tasteless and thin. Then it got worse. Pasta with cocoa sauce, a slimy piece of prawn (intestines?) and a few pieces of lobster. Terrible dish. Unbalanced, way too rich. It is not fun to eat and it tastes outright bad. I get the idea but the execution is just not right. The pasta itself was on point though. Next up squid. The 100% guarantee of sea-based food didn't matter anymore apparently. Chicken jus and sweetbread. This dish was pure fat and two of us couldn't finish it because it was so rich. Even the mushrooms tasted just like fat. Again, not enjoyable at all. The fish of the day was more mackerel and it came with sardella and raisins. The sauce tasted like the cocoa sauce from the earlier dish again and didn't harmonize with the fish at all. Bitter, unpleasant. Then we were served some blueberry(?) sorbet with olive oil and capers. We got no explanation what it is (even though we asked, they just left). The sorbet wasn't sweet and adding the capers made no sense. It was neither good nor enjoyable. The highlight of the menu was the dessert. Not only because you're finally done with tasting the menu but because it's actually good. Buttery, sweet, smooth with a nice crunch. The staff was unmotivated, unfriendly and most of all absent. We weren't served any drinks for well over an hour. They just put the plates on our table, read the dish name and left immediately without any explanation of what we were served and what the chef wants us to experience. At least we got more cutlery for every dish than we could ever use (two forks and a knife for the pasta?). The wine recommendation was a frizzante which was fine. Overall I recommend staying away from this restaurant and go find another one. Palermo has so much more to offer.

It was probably very good once upon a time. I happened to see No Reservations in my Palermo research and the place was around the corner from where I’m staying… so curiosity took over. Unfortunately it was disappointing. Place was totally empty except for one table- who also saw the Anthony Bourdain episode. I was about to turn away, but the owner (must be) came outside and beckoned me in. I ordered the seafood pasta which LOOKED amazing, but the flavor was SO weird! Cilantro or mint? Very off-putting. And very salty. It was a big portion so I felt bad not eating most of it, but I couldn’t force it. Garlic bread was good though! And reasonable prices..!

A must if you are in Palermo. Best fresh fish dishes I ever had in my life and such an heartfelt environment I really want to comeback. Recommend hardly! You want be disappointed, my bet😁

The food was perfect, and the host was super friendly. There isn’t a single thing to complain about the spot, they’ve done everything well. It has a feel of being invited into a Sicilian house and being cooked for as a family.

Cozy trattoria, quiet on a Monday night, not very busy that day. We enjoyed the food, wine and service. The Caponata was the best I’ve tried in Sicilia. The mussels were perfect, the pasta was authentic Italian and the house wine was great. The fish of the day was the only disappointment, it is 70 Euros per Kg but in my opinion overpriced and it was “OK”, It is only baked fish without any side vegetables or carbs. Everything else was delicious and the staff friendly.

Grazie a Anthony Bourdain, I’ve discovered the best restaurant in Palermo. If you do a little research, you will understand why is worth going to the real centro storico. Very grateful for the experience as a whole (history, service, food and happiness)

This bistro was of course featured on an old episode of “No Reservations”, and it just happened to be open for lunch on Xmas day with a prix fixe menu. I was riding my bicycle around an empty, low season Palermo and stumbled upon it being open by chance. About a dozen locals with their families were already enjoying their holiday lunch together, replete with crying infants and double cheeked greeting kisses, all while Bowie's “Life on Mars” provided the ironic opening soundtrack to my seating. Then it started to arrive, ground tuna balls in tomato sauce, fresh oysters, shrimp ceviche, octopus tentacles stewed in vinaigrette, sea urchin and ricotta ravioli…and the food just kept coming…grilled swordfish & potatoes, the crab cakes infused with black currants were especially to die for…along with a douse of champagne and a local white wine to wash it all down, finally ending with a slice of lemon creme cake…little did I know I had signed up for the traditional Sicilian Christmas “Feast of the Seven Fishes”...

Visited this restaurant after seeing it on Anthony Bourdain’s, no reservations. We were not disappointed. The seafood was fresh, and the food tasty. A family run affair. Highly recommend a visit when in Palermo.

Well, visiting Ricardo was beyond expectation. I mean, the Stigghiola was great. It was a bit on the pricey side, but considering the location, which is extremely touristic, it can be expected. Ricardo is a fun host. And the food was nice. But the thing with this typical food is that it's not for everybody. Maybe you love it or you hate it. It's not like pizza, where there is no bad pizza. Every pizza is good pizza, but with Stigghiola, it's either one or the other. You love it or you hate it.

Excellent and very tasty arancini with many options to choose from. They are best eaten straight away as they are warm. We took 3 different ones for 2 people and this was plenty and feeling well full after. A local sitting next to us told us that the size is smaller than most arancinis but the filling is always good. We went for the mushroom, eggplant with tomato sauce and the octopus ragu. All different tastes and all excellent. There are some tables and stools outside.

Touristy, but what do you expect? Haha. We recommend trying out one of the less traditional fillings as you can get amazing arancini in numerous places around without the line but if you do the line here make sure to try something new! (Also the line moves pretty fast so it’s not like that’s a problem.

We ordered three different pizzas: from bottom to top, the Margherita di Biga, Patate e Mozzarella, and Cotto e Funghi. All three had a deliciously light and airy crust, which really stood out. A bit similar to a focaccia. The Margherita and the Cotto were served without basil, even though it belongs on the pizzas. A small detail, but noticeable. Definitely because the pizza toppings lacked a bit of flavor. Of the three, the Cotto e Funghi was definitely the highlight: well-balanced, flavorful. The other two could have used just a bit more depth in taste to really shine. Overall, a tasty first pizza experience in Palermo, with room for small improvements.

This place is amazing. It may seem like a touristy place in the middle of the popular square but the food was top-notch. We fell in love with the chips/ potato fries here. Crispy, airy, puffy and tasted amazing (still dreaming about those). Pasta with seafood was fire. I love how chewy and bouncy the pasta was. The sauce was delicious too. The veal was also great. Nice balance with the salad. Def will come back if we ever visit Palermo again.

Could not recommend this place more. We first stumbled upon Trattoria Del Massimo two years ago, and had their amazing ravioli stuffed with fish, with shrimp and pistachio sauce, and this was the highlight of our trip back then, culinary exploration wise. This time we came back hoping to order it again, but it wasn't in the menu. We mentioned this to the lovely staff, and they, after checking with the chef, assured us this is not a problem, and made it for us (!). And once again it was gorgeous, such a lovely dish. I wholeheartedly recommend this place, both quality of food wise, and also for the amazing service and friendliness of personnel. Just go there, you will not be disappointed! Thank you for making such beautiful memories!

A must-try in Palermo. We had the Pane Ca Meusa Scheto/Maritato - the sandwiches with spleen + lungs and was impressed! Simple but so delicious. The staffs are kind and nice. Having a good time enjoying the meal with cold beer on the terrace!

If you are familiar with food made with cow spleen or lungs, you will definitely like the burger. If you are unfamiliar, you might smell some unique smell of meat. Tastes better with bunch of limes. Its intersting to see local men finishing up their burgers, while standing, but definitely enjoying them. The male servers can be more kind.

Had to try the pane ca meusa schetto (sandwich with spleen and lungs). I was afraid, but it was good! Especially with lemon. We also had panelle and cazzilli, which are fried and delicious. We stopped here on a Streaty food tour, so our guide had the options already picked out for us.

The spleen sandwich was very nice (for me - my girlfriend runs away in horror every time I mention it)! The fries sandwich, sadly, was just a sandwich with fries, and nothing special. The fries were fairly good though. And the portion size is good. All the snacks were quite bland and disappointing - coming from the Netherlands, I expect my deep fried snacks to be very flavourful and very different from each other. So this is a hard place to review; if I would have only ordered the spleen sandwich, four stars, but all the other things were sadly disappointing. The waiting time / line to order was huge (30+ minutes).

If you're looking for a place to try the traditional, fishermens sandwich this is the one. I didn't have the guts to try the spleen sandwich, but took the one with fried things - it cost me 3,5 euro, lots of stuffing, no additional coperto. Not my type of cuisine, but if you're looking for the real local experience outside of pizzas and pastas - here it is, right in the marina.

I've come to the place few times already and always at around dinner time to find it very packed everytime. There is no table service and to order you have to line up to pay first and then get your orders. Now, there are plenty of tables but they get occupied easily, but you can always order to go and have a seat across the street in front of the port. The milza (spleen) is very good. The staff is very friendly and simpatici. Shoutout to Sergio e Fabio! And the pannelle and crocchette are just a must-try to eat along with the milza. It's great value for the price. This place is underrated, and if you are looking for a fancy place, food and presentation, then this is not for you. I love this restaurant for its simplicity, homemade and deliciousness. The vegetarian varieties are good, as my buddy had a good time, and I had the best homemade lasagna; I had never had a good one for many years. The staff don't speak English, and we don't speak Italian, but the food is our language, and we had an amazing time, and we came back twice. (Yesterday we went to a fancy place where we were full but unsatisfactory, that's why we came back here tonight) I am sharing my opinion as a food founder and in the restaurant business for generations.

We had our first Italian pasta experience here and it completely blew us away — hands down the best pasta we’ve ever had! We ordered the pesto and the tortellini, and both were unbelievably delicious. The pesto was so fresh and flavorful, and the tortellini was incredibly creamy and comforting — every bite was perfect. The service was also amazing — super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. This place set the bar so high for the rest of our trip. A must-visit if you’re in Palermo!

I was on my way between the botanical garden and the old palace looking for something quick to eat. I saw quite a few people at this place and decided to try it. I order something that looked like a roast beef sandwich. I was sure it was not but Google translate couldn't tell me what it was. I went with it and had the version with cheese. I loved it. It was a bit like roast beef with some crunchy cartilage type bits. I found out later it was spleen. No regrets. Best €2.50 sandwich ever, hands down. And had an ice cold beer with it for 1.50. in 2024 high tourist season, I didn't expect to stumble upon a gem quite like this.

It's a great street food place really close to the coast (where you can have a little picnic if they don't have any free tables left). There was a line that they tried to control with a ticket system, but that could be improved a bit. Around 25 orders took more or less 35 minutes to complete. Their selection is fine, a couple types of arancines (unfortunately they were out of pistachio), different sandwiches and some other dishes. My favourites were the panini porchetta (that they completed with stayed onions) and the pane ca meausa. For 3 arancines and 3 sandwiches the EUR 12 I paid is completely reasonable.

This is a lovely cafe located right next to the church of La Martorana. There are several outdoor tables surrounded by shrubs with each table having a real plant which is nice. We popped in for a light breakfast of a croissant and Danish style pastry. It has an extremely varied menu of coffees of which I chose Pistachio which was fantastic. 😋 There is also some choices of teas too. There is, of course, a large selection of food to accompany the coffees, though not all were available on our visit. Service is fine.

Great for a hearty protein filled breakfast with for somebody who has gluten free requests. My breakfast was salmon , eggs, veggies and cheese and was a perfect day to start a busy day of biking and walking. Many other places only have pastries so I was happy to find this place! And they open early.

I recently visited a charming café in Palermo, and I must say it was a delightful experience . The coffee was absolutely excellent, rich and perfectly brewed . I tried the pistachio-filled croissant, which was simply wonderful, and the iris with ricotta was equally delicious . The café itself is very beautiful , offering plenty of seating and a cozy , inviting atmosphere . Its location is also very convenient, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a treat . Highly recommended for anyone visiting Palermo !

Considering this is 200m away from one of the busiest streets in Palermo, this spot it SO quiet. We stayed in a small apartment around the corner and this became our regular coffee/croissant spot. I can HIGHLY recommend the coffee and pistachio croissants - and if you’re lucky you may bag a table in the street under the lemon trees 🍋

We ordered ALOT. Food was good. There are 4 restaurants that won the food competition (on a TV programme), and this was one of them. It's known for it's fried food and surprisingly it is not as oily and greasy as I expected. Videos online shows giant food which we thought was on show so we had ordered a bit of everything to try, and when it came the portions were huge. The price is also very cheap. We ate everything (very full) then got desserts elsewhere. There seems to be none here although there were images of a dessert pizza. There is no bookings allowed and we were not allowed to sit down until the entire party had arrived - so seats may be gone. There is very little space to move around inside so as we walked we had to move chairs away and back to get through. There is a little door where staff walks through, this also hit me as you walk past it because the door swings back and forth once they go through. Whilst waiting we have to wait outside in the cold... Overall best to not come here with young children due to the space and seating is very high up.

We came here for a drink as we noticed it on the street and it looked so good, and didn’t disappoint! They personally selected wine by the glass for us which was delicious and great value. We had a plate of meat and cheese which was so good and the fig jam was incredible. Coming from NYC where pizza is a staple, I had very high expectations to eat a square when in Sicily and WOW 🤯. This is THE BEST PIZZA I have had in my LIFE! we were staying at a piazza a hour walk away and it was worthy of every step to get there. We ordered two squares and I ate mine so fast I went back in to get another. Unfortunately I didn’t get to eat anything else but the service was friendly fast and respectful. If only I can teleport to have some right now! This place deserves 10 star’s.

If you have to visit ONE food place in Palermo, go there. The pizza they make can be moving. It's warm, soft and hugs your tummy like a best friend. Try the different versions! They also have pasta, arancine and other wonders that we didn't try. We were there twice in five days and we weren't even close. Very crowded, but wait a moment, you'll find a table.

Well, this is probably the easiest review I’ve ever written… Me and my wife sat down since this restaurant was recommended to us as a great and cheap place to eat burgers. We were the only people in, and after locking eye contact and smiling at the waiter 10 times he finally acknowledged us. He came to us in the slowest pace I have ever witnessed. I do understand some Italian but I don’t feel comfortable speaking it so I said “inglese” The moment I dropped this word the waiter hit us with the biggest sigh I’ve ever seen in my life and slammed our cutlery on the table and went back to the kitchen. Safe to say we stood up and left, I know most Sicilians aren’t that open for tourists, but this was just unreal. I hope by the time I have written this review the person in question found another job, since he’d obviously rather be doing anything then serving people and working in the restaurant business

Crowded but you will understand why … the food is so good served as a massive portion. The price are cheap. They are quick to serve you despite the crowd. Certainly out of Palermo Central but worth to go!! Very good food. Very happy with this experience.

An incredible place dedicated to pizza. Established in 1970, La Taverna di John specializes in wood-fired pizza. There are many types of pizza, from traditional to more elaborate, but everything is made with an incredible sense of flavor. I've been traveling around Italy for years, and I personally think this is, along with one pizzeria in Naples, the best I've ever eaten. For example, the pizza with mortadella/gorgonzola/buffala/truffle honey? It's absolutely amazing! The pizza with sun-dried black olives/sweet cherry tomatoes/anshovies and fresh oregano... A poetry of flavors! As I write this, I'm already planning a return visit to Taverna! I highly recommend it! I think they should receive some kind of pizza heritage award! Good,that I have two more days in Palermo so Ill comeback for more pizza!:-)

Absolutely superb pizza cooked in traditional wood fired oven. This has got to be the best I’ve ever had and it’s fantastic to watch them being made. Family run business which has been in the same family since 1970. The restaurant is popular with local people which is testament to the incredible pizzas which you can customise to suit your dietary requirements, mine was loaded with veg and no cheese. Local wine was also great and likewise the service and prices! So glad we found it on our first night as definitely going back!

We were warmly welcomed by the staff at this restaurant, who made sure we got a table even though we hadn’t booked in advance. We ordered pasta vongole and a mixed fried seafood dish. Very tasty, although the prices were a bit higher than usual. I would have liked a bit more pasta and vongole in the dish, but overall, it was very good and felt safe and reliable. Food and drinks for both of us came to €50. Would recommend.

Staff were amazing and food also. For days in Palermo we couldn't find a food good enough to say yes this was worth the money. But we can say it now.

Ador was the perfect server, so much we came back 3 nights of our 4 nights. Amazing food and service 😋 you will not be disappointed

Very nice restaurant, best in Palermo as we tried. Price was not expensive compared with other restaurant and very worth for. Risotto was so impressive for me. Also dessert we bought back home, so delicious. Waiter spoke very good English and so friendly.

The best rotisserie chicken this American has ever had! Huge portions of chicken and sautéed vegetables for a great price! Busy and lively in the evenings (dinner after 7!). Available to eat in or takeaway. The pizza looked and smelled delicious, will return!

We visited Palermo for vacation, and during the first two days we were searching for a restaurant with good food at reasonable prices. That’s how we discovered La Brace. The food is excellent, portions are generous, and even though the restaurant is always busy, the service is very fast. Big compliments to the waiter Marko – funny, kind, and efficient. A special recognition goes to Ador, who was extremely fast, well-organized, very polite, pleasant, and also funny. Highly recommended!

Friendly place, good food (I didn't like Pizza btw) service is mostly is like you have to ask them to come over, though they are really friendly, but this is the thing you have to ask them every time you need sth. Pasta was really delicious, aperol spritz which is sth Italians like to drink most was 7.5 Euro per glass. I enjoyed the appetizers the most! But all in all, I recommend this place to go and enjoy.

This restaurant overall was good not excellent not bad but good. I wouldn’t return but I enjoyed the food. We started the meal off with the “pano e coperto”. This complementary but paid for bread which was ok. Nothing special, quite hard and difficult to eat. Oil was offered however could not save what tasted like very stale bread. Did not finish. For starter we had the caponata which was very flavourful, rich and delicious. 10/10 one of the best things we ordered that day. The aubergine, olives and everything were incredibly cooked. A bit oily but it made the dish more delicious. Highly recommend. For main we had the zucchine fritte (zucchini pasta) which was incredibly underwhelming and the Sarde (sardine tomato pasta) which was so flavourful and tomatoey. I would say the Sarde was a 7/10 but if it came with cheese it easily would have been a 10/10. We were not given cheese, as we have not visited Italy before we were unsure if cheese would have been included with the pasta. If I came back I would ONLY get the pasta with cheese. The flavour of the sardines tastes very similar to tuna. A very delicious tomato fish pasta… missing the cheese. The Zucchine Fritte was a bit bland. We had to add left over caponata to it, to add some flavour. Bland. Cheese did not also come with this pasta… I wish it did to bring some sort of flavour to the meal. The portion sizes were very good, we could not finish it all and we were able to take the rest for dinner. I very much appreciated the takeaway tubs provided! The waiters were lovely and happy to recommend specials. Very friendly and they spoke enough English where we ordered knowing what it was. The food arrived quickly but it took FOREVER to get the bill. We had to wave down a server after an hour. If we did not do this I think we would still be at the restaurant to this day. We sat outside which was lovely, great vibes and good location of the restaurant. I wouldn’t come back just because I wasn’t wowed overall by the restaurant. If you do go I recommend the caponata and the Sarde but with cheese. Do not get the zucchine fritte. Also be prepared for a long wait for the bill (fast enough for food service).

We spent here our second night in Palermo. Lovely place, the service was friendly and really careful. Amazing “crocché al latte” (must try) and the pasta we had the Norma and Margherita C’ancioa. And the bill: 40€ two people. Recommended! We’ll go back again to try their pizza!

I would not recommend for ANY tourists. Manager/owner was rude, did not say one word to us but welcomed all others into the restaurant. 2 young Male Staff took out order who were helpful by explaining menu but after we ordered were quite rude and seemed like they couldn’t be bothered to serve us for anything. Both had carbonara, very salty and 70% of the bacon bits were just pure fat. The minute we finished our meal the staff were itching to get us out. Very rude and poor experience.

First, the owner has EVERY RIGHT to cater to the clientele he desires to patronize his restaurant - hard stop, no exceptions. Unfortunately, we speak almost exclusively English and Osteria Lo Bianco clearly markets to solely Italian-speakers (again, with no apologies). The menu is solely in Italian and the wait staff and cashier solely speak Italian. There was ZERO effort on behalf of the young lady waiting on us or the young man attending to the cash register to help in any way facilitate us having a good experience. None, zip, nada. This is the honest truth - the "attitude" and approach of the staff is clearly "hey, you're in Sicily, either learn the language or the lack of communication is NOT our problem". Again, I have no problem with a locally-focused restaurant. So, if you do speak any language other than Italiano, I do recommend any one of 100s of other places to eat in Palermo. My food was truly outstanding, but my wife's was pretty average. When we do return to Palermo - if I've done a much, much better job at learning my Italian - we would give it another shot.

The gluten free pizza here was delicious, my non GF friends said they wouldn’t have known it was gluten free. Their normal pizzas were also just as good. They also offer vegan pizzas/ vegan cheese and lactose free cheese as an option.
