Cafe
McDonald's is a well-established fast-food chain famous for its burgers and fries. It has been a starting point for many individuals in the hospitality industry, providing valuable experience and skill development. The restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere with great ambient lighting, although service may be slightly delayed during peak hours due to high customer traffic. The staff is friendly, and the play area is spacious and clean, making it suitable for families with children.
It is not every day that a trip to a fast food restaurant leaves you genuinely impressed, but that is exactly what happened during my recent visit to Cessnock Maccas. I stopped by for a quick bite and ended up having such a smooth and satisfying experience that I felt it deserved more than just a passing compliment. From the quality of the food to the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the restaurant, everything came together perfectly. It reminded me that even everyday meals can feel like a treat when they are done right. I ordered a McSmart Meal, which came with a cheeseburger, a serving of hot chips, a small Red Fanta, and a small sundae. It might sound like a pretty standard order, but each part of the meal was genuinely enjoyable. The cheeseburger was made just the way it should be — the bun was soft and slightly toasted, the beef patty was warm and juicy, the cheese was melted perfectly, and there was just the right amount of sauce and pickles to give it that signature Maccas taste without being overpowering. It was clear that it had been made with care rather than just thrown together. The chips were one of the highlights. They were hot, crisp on the outside, and fluffy on the inside — not soggy or lukewarm like they sometimes can be at other places. They were seasoned just enough to be tasty without being too salty, which made them really moreish. I could have easily eaten another serving. The small Red Fanta that came with the meal was ice cold and super fizzy, which made it incredibly refreshing, especially since it was a warm day outside. It balanced out the savoury part of the meal really well. To top it all off, the small sundae was a perfect dessert. It was smooth, creamy, and not too rich. The ice cream had a light vanilla flavour and the texture was thick enough that it did not melt too quickly. It felt like an actual dessert rather than just a quick fast food add-on. The portion was just right for a little sweet finish to the meal. All together, the McSmart Meal was great value for money and really satisfying from start to end. What stood out just as much as the food was the service. The team working at Cessnock Maccas were friendly, polite, and clearly efficient. I was greeted as soon as I stepped up to the counter and my order was taken clearly and without any issues. The person who served me seemed like they actually cared about the job, which made a difference. Even though there were other customers waiting, everything was kept moving smoothly and there was no confusion or delays. My order was correct, packed neatly, and came out in just a few minutes. That level of service might not seem like a big deal, but it really added to the experience and made it feel professional and stress free. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was also worth noting. It was clean, well lit, and calm. I could see staff regularly wiping down tables and making sure the self-serve stations and bins were tidy. The layout made it easy to find a spot to sit without feeling cramped or awkward. There was no loud music or mess, and even though it was busy, it still felt like a comfortable place to relax and enjoy the food. You do not always expect that from a fast food spot, so it was a nice surprise. Overall, I could not have asked for much more from a quick meal stop. The food was fresh, tasty, and exactly what I ordered. The service was quick, friendly, and professional. The space was clean and easy to enjoy. When you put all of that together, it makes for a genuinely great visit. Cessnock Maccas has definitely earned a five star rating from me. Whether you are passing through or a local looking for a reliable and enjoyable meal, I would absolutely recommend giving this place a go. I know I will definitely be back.

stopped to grab dinner and eat inside walked around noticed all the bins where overflowing and not a single clean table, after I ordered i ask the staff if I could get some tables cleaned. only to be laughed at and spoken about behind the counter even by the manager who was behind a wall, and have one girl say she going to take her time and proceed to do a half asked job at cleaning. complete disrespect a formal complaint has been sent
Calan B — Google review
I ordered a chicken and cheese with extra cheese and ended up with no cheese at all as well as I found a small black straight hair in my cheeseburger while I was eating it. I have curly brown hair. I called the store three times with no answer to resolve the problem.
Emmy C — Google review
The store is putrid!!!! The stench of urine burns your eyes as you walk into the toilets, no hand soap in there either. Yuk! Dirty dirty. 20 small fries alright. Big Mac sauce spewing out all over the box.
Shelly K — Google review
Old, cold fries with no salt 🥴 And McFlurrys that had half the usual amount of topping & weren’t actually whipped. The staff at Cessnock were lovely, but the quality of product here was below even your most basic expectations of McDonald’s
Scott F — Google review
Real dirty tables with lots of leftover food and flies everywhere. It is a very busy Mac Donald’s and the staff have absolutely no customer service. I don’t know why you would let $60 worth of food sit there to wait for a $3 apple pie? Next time get the burgers and chips out and then bring the apple pie that took 30mins, I must add - out! The chips 🍟 were cold and actually gross. The cheeseburgers were nice. Having the flies around while you eat was really putting off. I’d never come back here again.
M S — Google review
Took over 40 minutes to receive my order as they cleared it off the screen without making it. One of the servers were helpful the rest just didn’t want to pay attention to you. One of the workers manning the grill was contaminating areas by not changing gloves after handling meat.
Ryan W — Google review
When the Hawaiian burger was on, I got one with no pineapple, was so angry stayed away until last week. Thought I’d take mum through, she wanted a large 10pce nugget meal. Well the nuggets were rubbery and cold, the large fries were stone cold. Angered me I can tell you. Lots of staff on shift nobody doing much, just talking and passing out low grade, cold food to the unsuspecting customers. Avoid, avoid, avoid, this lousy store.

Nestled on Vincent Street, Kee Ho Restaurant is a charming local gem that serves up a delightful array of traditional Australian Chinese dishes. This inviting eatery boasts a clean and well-lit atmosphere, perfect for families seeking comfort food favorites. With convenient street parking available, it’s easy to pop in for a meal or takeout. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by friendly staff who ensure prompt service; takeaway orders are often ready in just 15 minutes!

Delicious food and warm hospitality! Kee Ho is one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve been to. The dishes are consistently fresh, flavourful, and well-prepared. Everything tastes homemade with care. The staff are friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. A great place for both casual dinners and family gatherings. Highly recommended!

The dishes we had are delicious. Highly recommend the omelette, very soft & fluffy. The pepper steak was also chunky & surprisingly tender.
Rachel C — Google review
I’m Disengaging From This Restaurant… Permanently. I don’t even know where to begin, because frankly, I wish I had never begun. The sweet and sour chicken. Or should I say: soggy, sad chicken drowned in a pink sauce that tasted like melted cherry Jell-O and regret. There was no trace of sourness. It was just… confusing. And not in a mysterious way. Then came the honey chicken, which I can only describe as an insult to bees and chickens alike. It was cloying, sticky, and somehow still managed to taste like nothing. How do you make something aggressively sweet and still bland? It’s a talent—albeit one no kitchen should strive for. The decor? Tired. The service? Indifferent. The prices? Ridiculous I’ve had better meals at airport food courts during flight delays. I will not be returning.
Elian R — Google review
4 dishes, 2 entrees $147. Majority of food was inedible. Rice tasted like some sort of muscle rub. We had half a bean in the Mongolian Lamb, Spring rolls tasted like left overs squashed together and stuffed in one. We specified no onion, but got onion. They did though, chuck in a FREE bag of prawn chips, instead of charging us $8 extra. Safe to say we have now tasted all Chinese food across town and it all tastes exactly the same! And whoever is paying for this, is getting absolutely ripped!
Tara D — Google review
We love to try out the Chinese place when passing through a regional town, and picked out Kee Ho from the (surprisingly) multiple options in Cessnock. The prawn toast was pretty good, but the mains were mediocre. The sweet and sour pork came in popcorn chicken-sized bites - too small and batter-heavy. The lemon chicken was unconventionally crumbed like a schnitzel instead of battered - I wouldn't have minded if not for the fact that the lemon sauce was also quite weak and watered down.
Sharron X — Google review
I rang & ordered a takeaway dinner for us tonight. I specifically requested no garlic in my meal as I have an allergy (& yes, garlic can be a genuine allergy). Reassured that the meal could be made garlic free. No problem at all. (I thought it a bit odd at the time that they never asked for a contact number when I rang, but really didn’t think much else of it) When I went to collect the order, I was bluntly told that the sauce in the meal I ordered did in fact have garlic in it. I could either get a refund or order something else. Pretty much tough luck. No “we’re really sorry about this”, no “ we’ll make sure staff are better trained”.. I ended up ordering another meal. When I noticed the girl putting the rest of the order back on the table, I requested it be kept hot until the other meal was cooked. Told it would’nt be necessary as it would only take 2 minutes to cook. It was going to be left out to get cold. She didn’t even think that was worth considering. Needless to say, the meal was the worst Chinese we’ve ever had. Everything was bland & dry. There was more vegetables than meat. I ordered a prawn meal, but I had to search for the prawns amongst the veggies. And I actually did something I”ve never had to do to Chinese food before. I had to add salt & soy sauce to everything !! Just to make it palatable. I suggested to the staff that they consider taking contact numbers for customers when ordering so these sort of issues wouldn’t happen. I could have been contacted & made another choice from home. This was pretty much met with “yeah”. Not that that would have made any difference in the long run. The food was abysmal, as was the service. I really wish I had checked more reviews before I ordered. Will never go there again & will certainly not be recommending them to anyone, ever.

🥠 Kee Ho is a local Chinese restaurant on Vincent St, offering fairly traditional country style Australian Chinese menu (lots of family favourites). 🥠 The venue is well lit, clean, tidy and inviting, although a little quaint. With on street parking. 🥠 Arrived, greeted by welcoming staff, order was promptly taken, and takeaway was ready in 15 minutes. 🥠 Portions were good, food tasty, and still hot when served on arrival home.

Chicken restaurant
Oporto Cessnock Drive Thru offers a relaxed dining experience with flame-grilled Portuguese-style chicken, customizable salads, and wraps. It's a great option for those seeking a break from fine dining in the Pokolbin area. While some visitors found the food to be tasty and served promptly, others felt there was room for improvement. The dining area is generally clean, but some noted that the air conditioning was not functioning during their visit.
Quite literally the worst branch I’ve eaten at! The food was horrid, burnt chicken, aged lettuce and little to no sauce! Let’s not talk about the 2 week old buns! The staff member working on the counter on 19/01 was rude when we approached her for extra sauce (which we asked for when ordering). Little kids cooking shouldn’t be a thing! Place is better off closed down, doesn’t meet Oporto standards !

If you are in a rush don’t waste your time at Cessnock Oporto! Waiting nearly 20 minutes in drive through, nobody came to the window to take payment or say it would be a wait for food! Only one other car in front. No sense of urgency at all. When there are next to no customers there are no excuses for it taking so long! When I finally got my food no apologies for the delay and the food was cold. Why is the food cold and hen I waited 20 minutes for it! Horrible customer service, do better!

Cessnock Oporto was absolutely disgusting at 5:30pm on Sunday 9th June 2024. It was very obvious they were low staffed - we can’t praise Maya enough for the effort and steps she covered to make sure everyones orders were taken promptly (drive through and counter) and that everyone was served their food, packed neatly in their bag. She was polite and patient even though she was rushed off her feet. Seemed as though there was only 1 other staff member helping her (cooking out back) Give that girl a pay rise, she deserves it for keeping the restaurant running this night alone! The restaurant was an absolute mess, rubbish on the floor, over flowing bins and dirty dishes everywhere. The bathrooms were actually cleaner than the restaurant. This Oporto in particular is generally a little messy and slow whenever we go there but this night was by far the worst. This would be a 1 star review if it wasn’t for Maya!
K.B P — Google review
They can really do with a bit of a regular clean up around the store, when we arrived the place was dirty and dustbins full. Was unpleasant to say the least, had to stand and eat unfortunately. The food though was good
Jaco J — Google review
Just sick of the poor service: - long waits at drive through on average 20 minutes with only 1 or 2 cars inline - family chips looks like they have been half eaten - chicken basting is inconsistently applied - not having whole chickens available. How is this possible....you should have them prepared if it's on the menu.

Domino's Pizza Cessnock is a popular delivery and carryout chain known for its wide range of pizzas and other dishes. Customers can choose from three sizes of pizza, with some expressing disappointment in the size of the extra-large option. However, many praise the delicious toppings and real-time order tracking system. While some have had mixed experiences with quality depending on who prepared their food, others have enjoyed consistently good food that arrives quickly, even on busy nights.
I got the wrong pizza delivered tonight and was really impressed with the manager or whoever answered the phone (I didn’t catch his name) but he was polite, professional, super apologetic and offered free items to make up for the inconvenience. McDonald's is a well-established fast-food chain famous for its burgers and fries. Despite facing technical difficulties, the staff provided great service by allowing customers to use the facilities and even serving coffee. The friendly team, including trainees, received praise for their support and teaching. Customers also appreciated the efficient handling of issues with the MyMaccas app and loyalty points by the management. Overall, visitors were satisfied with the excellent service, accurate orders, and perfectly prepared food at McDonald's.
You can tell they clean their coffee machine, best McDonald's coffee I have ever had. The chicken wrap was big, cooked perfectly and the bacon was crispy, the wrap was soft and fluffy. Never had such good food and service from McDonald's. Maybe they can train the other stores. Customer Service 1000%

Loved the atmosphere at this Maccas, the entry and waiting bay had beautiful birds-of-paradise. The drive-through line was super long for our visit on Saturday morning but they smashed through it quickly. All of coffees were great, hotcakes and hash browns were great - the fries were just ok (though to be fair, 10:30am probably isn’t prime fry time lol so that one is on me).
Benjamin C — Google review
Cheating your service does not help the drivers, the speed of delivery service, and the delivery network as a whole. Yesterday as I watched your staff clear off a delivery order, at the same time within my app it notified that the order was ready. I had to wait another 5-10min until the order was actually ready. We don't get an hourly rate, if we’re not moving, we are not making money, your staff need to be told this. On the 13/03/25 at about 9.35pm-9.50pm I had been waiting for my order watching drive thru service being looked after first. The young guy half put the order together after clearing it off the screen then told another worker (skinny blonde) she could finish the rest of it. I also noted that she was sending snapchats in the middle of bagging orders. Not impressed. The drive to the store and to the customer took way less than standing in the store. Tell this team to pick up the slack. On the 30/3/25 at about 3:30pm the girl on drive thru wearing a blue shirt made young Lucas stop packing my order for delivery in the middle of making the last dessert and told him to run a drive through order out and she’d finish it for him. She continued to keep doing the drive thru side and didnt end up doing it so Lucas ended up finishing the order himself when he got back from running the order out. She knew I was already waiting for the order as i confirmed the order number with her. This proves that us drivers really are the bottom feeders who gets served dead last because the drive thru worker is trying to compete with their drive thru service times to get whatever bonus McDonalds is paying them.

I have never had a McRib before but I don't think it should look like this? 2 x large fries stone cold and the same with our 24 x nuggets. Goodbye $50 to only enjoy not even half of our meal.
Jordan S — Google review
Kurri Kurri Macca’s isn’t just a fast food stop—it’s a rite of passage. A glowing beacon of fries and questionable life choices, especially after 10pm when all good decisions go out the window and the McFlurry machine is probably broken. Rolling through the drive-thru feels like entering a sacred ritual: place your order, question your own restraint, receive a paper bag that smells like heaven and mild regret. You didn’t need 20 nuggets, but here we are. Inside, it’s everything you’d expect and a little more—kids buzzing on post-Happy Meal energy, teens holding social court near the sauce dispensers, and staff moving like fast-food ninjas under fluorescent lighting. The chips? Hot enough to file a complaint about. The burgers? Stack slightly lopsided, but that’s how you know it’s real. I got a Big Mac that looked like it had been through something emotionally taxing, but it still tasted like victory. Staff are friendly, efficient, and operate with the steely resolve of people who’ve seen things—late-night chips flung, ice cream tantrums, nugget diplomacy. Would I go back? Of course. This Macca’s is a core memory waiting to happen. Just don’t ask about the ice cream machine. We don’t talk about that.

I went into the store to get a hot cross bun and a chai latte. I waited near the MC cafe area after I payed on the kiosks. The cafe had cockroaches and was unclean. That's a health violation as cockroaches are easy to avoid if it's a clean environment. Went away feeling disgusted as there could've been a roach crawl in the food that I could be eating.
Isabelle H — Google review
Went through the drive-thru, went to the first window to pay there were no lights on in the booth but a girl in there at the computer, I waited ready to pay and got ignored, I said do we pay at the next window and she looked at me and rolled her eyes and went back to what she was doing. So I proceeded to the next window to pay. I got to the next window and the staff there were not happy I had not paid at the first window I attempted to explain what happened and they started snapping at me being extremely rude told me it was my fault for not paying at the first window. I drove off with no food and a car full of upset kids. Absolutely terrible service.
Jed P — Google review
Dirtiest McDonald’s I’ve ever seen- the kids play area doesn’t look like it’s ever been cleaned and my 4 year old said that the slippery dip was wet inside. My coffee from McCafe was warm but not hot (otherwise ok) and it looked like only the manager was making the drinks for everyone- other staff were just standing around not doing anything aside from avoiding eye contact with customers and (I assume) waiting for more orders for their particular station. But the playground was so dirty. Food, grass, grime, who knows what bacteria is breeding here.

Domino's Pizza Kurri Kurri is a popular pizza delivery and carryout chain known for its wide selection of pizzas and other dishes. Customers can conveniently place their orders online and track the delivery status in real time. The efficient and polite delivery personnel ensure that orders are delivered promptly, even late at night. Customers have praised the fast delivery times, fresh and high-quality pizzas, as well as the excellent service provided by the drivers.
It was a crisp Wednesday evening, the city was asleep, Albanese was in office and I decided I needed a lava cake and salted caramel mousse. I took my nimble digits and ordered it all. Then my phone starts a-ringing and in my mind this is in fact a scammer. I hop in my 2004 Toyota Corolla and mack it into Domino's Kurri Kurri car park. Upon my arrival I'm notified by fine shyt at the front that it was in fact him who tried calling us to let us know there were no lava cakes left. The absolute legend instead gave us some brownies instead and sent us on our way. I took the brownies home for what I cannot describe as anything but a first-degree flavour festival on my taste buds. What an experience.

Ordered $70 worth of food which included 3 extra-large pizzas and 4 sides. The pizzas were decent but 3 of the 4 sides we got were extremely disappointing. Two of them were absolutely inedible. These were the churros we got, burnt to the point of bitterness and onion rings were salted so much that no amount of dusting it off made it palatable. The hotdogs, although not great, were at least consumable. When we contacted the restaurant to express our dissatisfaction with the churros and onion rings, wanting to return them but were told "We called up too frequently and they aren't able to refund or credit." We only ever called up when the food is THIS bad. Avoid buying from this place unless you want to roll the dice on edible food.

AGAIN REALLY, I WAS HUNGRY AND WANTED DOMINOS BUT AGAIN THEY DISAPPOINT, my pizza was dropped but no hair, im gonna cry if this happens again
Noah T — Google review
If you like pizza with no sauce, cut up mushrooms that would be lucky to make up 1 button mushroom combined and less chicken than a single chicken nugget with cheese covering half the circumference (thats the face of the pizza for those making it which obviously haven't figured that much out yet) and so long as you enjoy waiting an hour and twenty minutes this is the "pizza" shop for you. Honestly no need for the circus to come to town, you are running one full time. Do the world a favour and close the doors permanently. You make McCain's frozen pizza look like a 5 star Italian restaurant. If I could leave a no star review I would
Brent M — Google review
Very disappointed with my takeaway order last week from Kurri Dominoes. Pizza crust was burnt and had almost no cheese on it. It was just a plain cheese pizza for my grandson. Would gave thought they'd add extra cheese seeing that was the only topping.
Janelle C — Google review
Time an time again u order pizza only for when it arrives there's next to no topping on the thing it happen 8 times I ordered out of the 10 times an I find my self not calling to get it fixed coz then itd another 40 min wait very very upset

Nice food but would be great if they could get my orders right once in a while example I ordered a melt I got a pizza?!? And thrn I ordered 20 chicken and got 12??? Other than that there ok

Do not order from Domino's Kurri Kurri. I have ordered multiple times from this store and had numerous problems. When I contacted them by phone I received nothing but attitude and have been hung up on. Went to return an order and was laughed at by staff. Customer service below zero, attitude of staff is lower. Add on edit: Floors dirty, rubbish bag in front of drink fridge, windows not clean, serving screen not clean, counters not clean and worst of all food being prepared and handled without gloves.

In Australia, it ranks as one of the top restaurant chains, following McDonald's and Subway. The food at KFC is generally fresh and customers appreciate the efficiency of the staff. It has gained immense popularity due to its tasty menu options.
Stopped by the drive-thru recently and had to shout out the girl on the headset Holly She was super polite, clear, and made the whole experience feel smooth and easy. You could tell she knew what she was doing. On top of that, she had such a calm, friendly vibe and honestly, she’s absolutely stunning. Just wanted to say she really stood out. Great service all around!

Disappointing experience. The fried chicken and nuggets were soggy and poorly fried. The nuggets stuck together during frying, leaving some pieces in the middle not crispy at all. The Zinger was great, but they forgot our fries. We ordered a shared box and only received one side (coleslaw) instead of our complete order.
Cheryl L — Google review
I literally asked 3 times, just then. Once at the speaker, than at the window, and then at window on collection for extra salt on the chips. And got no salt on the chips .. none at all. It’s not hard

Got a 2pce box and requested all legs. But was told at speaker box we can try but can’t guarantee you all legs you will get what your given, which I have never heard of from another kfc. Got the box to have no legs. I will not be returning.

Ordered using the KFC app for pickup at Cessnock drive thru. Got home, found I had the wrong order. Second time it's happened. Get your act together. It's not rocket science.

When i opened the snack box there was a filthy scrunched up receipt inside the box, when i phoned the store to inform them, the managers reply was this was normal practice and store policy… I have serious concerns regarding hygiene and cross contamination, hands are dirty and scrunching up paper before placing it inside and on top of food cannot be healthy. Google it !!!! How bacteria can be transferred to food? The main way that contamination spreads in the kitchen is by our hands.

Getting a clear understood order over the phone is near impossible. Instead of listening to order there are constant questions asking if I'd like this or that too. Roast chicken smelt funny, The chips were seemingly cooked in old oil & were far from tasty! We all had the runs the next morning! Won't return there!

Up untill recently I would have had nothing but nice things to say about this take away. But i went in there today and yes, not knowing it was before they opened. The man who works there I asked "Are you open?" He said "No" in a tone that made me feel like a trespasser. 90% of communication isn't the words coming out of your mouth. He may need to learn what good PR is all about. To be honest it has made me say i will NEVER go back there. The lady has always been very nice. Shame.

Tried to sneakily overcharge me by $5 on EFTPOS, gave me the money back out of the till after I noticed. Then had the nerve to tell me not to be rude when I called them out on it. Check your receipts if you order from here

Chicken shop that had no chicken, showed up to grab some lunch at 11:30am, order a chicken burger and get told they had no chicken, apparently hadn't shown up yet. If you can't sell the one thing you are named after, don't bother opening.

The best subway in town. Great customer service. Clean environment and nice and fresh food. Just wonderful. Well done subway

I ordered 2x subs both foot long when it came to putting salad on, not that much salad was put on. It was supposed to be our dinner for the night, didn't even touch the sides. We were still hungry and had to go buy something else too fill our stomach because we didn't want to cook. Very poor quantity. What ever happened to making the customer happy. Not at this subway again.

Thank you so much Puneet and the rest of the workers too for the superb experiences!! I want to give each worker here a little kiss on the forehead. They always cater perfectly to what I ask and the food is always fresh and delicious. Also a big fan of the little notes I get when I order online and they don't have something it just makes it a more personal experience.
Lana C — Google review
Very disappointed with the Subway staff at Kurri Kurri as we went there for tea on a Saturday night arrived at 8.30pm only to be told sorry we are closed. I explained to the lady it says 9pm on the door & also on the website she mumbled something back in her lingo as she was a foreigner so I could not understand what she said. To me if it says we close at a particular time then that is what time you close not 30 minutes prior even if you need to clean up that is what you do after 9pm. I personally won’t be rushing back to SUBWAY @ KURRI KURRI anytime soon. So people if you are with me on this please make a review yourself. So people please be aware of the bad service that they provide.

Multiple poor experiences here now. Food undercooked, all the sides taste like they’re the no frills brand out of the Coles freezer aisle. Service is non-existent and it smells weird in the shop. Makes Dominoes seem more edible. Undercooked pizza attached.
