The Kings Arms in Trowbridge is a popular choice for families and individuals alike. Visitors have praised the pub for its delicious food, accommodating staff, and welcoming atmosphere. The menu offers a wide range of choices to suit different preferences, with freshly prepared dishes that are beautifully served. The pub also boasts a great selection of beers and ales. Situated in the bustling town center, it provides a friendly hubbub and a full bar stocked with good drinks.
One of the best pubs for food in Trowbridge hands down, I had home made faggots yesterday and it was lush! £6.95, absalute bargain, The chili con carne is homemade as well and the best I've tasted, we are regular visitors, highly recommend

Kitchen opens from 17:30 from what I experienced on Wednesday, lots of tables were reserved so it's best to reserve a place to sit otherwise you might have little choice and sit next to a rather unfortunate loud crowd which made the experience a little uncomfortable. Staff were very friendly and the service was top notch. Food was pretty good, nothing extraordinary, burger was served without a sauce or salad on the burger, you do however get some salad drizzled with BBQ sauce on the plate with the burger that's meant to be eaten with the fries but I do suggest you put some in your burger to make it better.
Sebastian G — Google review
The atmosphere appears to suit all walks of life. Often busy without being overcrowded. Served quickly. Staff aren't particularly chatty (in my experience) but come across friendly enough. Just doing their job kind of thing. I have eaten here a couple of times, each time was a pretty bog standard level of food, vegetarian bucket (they offer a chicken bucket too) which was cooked well and filled me up, and ciabatta with hummus. I don't feel you can go wrong with either of these, but still it arrived quickly and was presented well. Clean and presentable bar, ample seating out the back with heating and lovely plants. Overall I would recommend it for a pleasant experience, offering a welcoming pub grub/drinking service. It is one of the few pubs in Trowbridge that offer a consistently good level of service, food and a pleasant environment, suitable for all.

Visited the Kings Arms for a freinds birthday meal and had a really great time. Staff were fab, service was fab and the cozy local pub was... well cozy 10 /10. Food was homemade and very tasty however my burger had tooo much onion in so maybe a speacil request is needed if your not a onion fan. Overall my experiance was great and will be visiting again for more tasty pub grub

We had the Christmas turkey dinner. It was lush. Just as well we skipped the starter because we would not have finished the main. Good food, good beer and great service.
Dick M — Google review
Had to pickup the wife who'd been out with the gals for a pre Christmas quaff. Was reluctant to enter but was pleasantly surprised by the friendly atmosphere. Amiable staff and happy punters made for a cool watering hole, I had a quick drink before leaving with wife intact.
Vince ( — Google review
Very busy on a Wednesday lunchtime, which added to the atmosphere and is heartening to see a packed pub. Burger with cheese and bacon was sublime and under a tenner. Staff friendly, efficient, and welcoming, even though they were busy.

Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Longs Arms, and what a delightful experience it turned out to be! With new management at the helm, the atmosphere felt fresh and inviting. I indulged in an all-day breakfast that was not only served promptly but also came with piping hot chips—definitely some of the best I've tasted. On my next visit for dinner, I savored the mega mix grill while my wife enjoyed a generous portion of gammon cooked to perfection.
Had a all day breakfast first time I have been to this place it was very clean and the service at the bar was very good the waitress came in no time with the chips and the breakfast the chips were very hot and some of the best we have had we shall make another visit again shortly we came back and wasn't disappointed this time it was for dinner I had the maga mix grill and my wife had the large gammon which came in three pieces all was cooked perfectly the gammon was moist plus all the meat on the mix grill was tender the rump steak had no gristle and was perfectly cooked middle to rare plus i asked for the sausages to be cooked brown Which they did for me 👍

How friendly is this place. Rob looked after from the moment we walked in. "T" brought out food with a smile and made sure we were all ok. Just spent the afternoon in Stonehenge and this was a perfect place to finish the day off. Thanks Rob & T

Husband and I went for lunch today, and it was so lovely, I had the 8oz gammon pineapple, egg, chips and peas, OMG! The gammon was just amazing and the egg cooked to perfection, my husband had the full Monty mixed grill, outstanding! Steak, perfectly cooked to his liking, gammon, succulent, chicken, tender and moist, great sausages and again like mine, his eggs were cooked to perfection, the staff were lovely and the dining area was spotlessly clean, well done girls you made our lunch perfect and 2 more happy customers thank you

2 for 1 burgers Friday. As we were passing, we thought we'd stop there for lunch. Pub not too busy. One young man behind the bar struggling. Long queue to order with people giving up & leaving. I was desperately trying to use the app instead but had problems loading. The food was great when it came. Not too generous with the chips portion but l suppose, it was already a 2 for 1 deal. Burgers were tasty. Wait for good wasn't too long thankfully. Great value overall.

The lighting and gentle ambient music gives the place a really warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff (Rob and Ceri) were great. Really friendly and so very easy to talk to and have a banter with. Freddie the chef also did a great job with really well cooked and presented food. Looking forward to going back again.

Came for dinner with my friend and twins this evening. Really enjoyed our time here. Menu is great- lots of choice, they also have a dog dinner menu which i haven’t seen at any other pubs before! Nella was our waitress this evening she was very friendly and always asked us if there was any more we need. Amazing job! Thank you so much.

Excellent. I really enjoyed my burger and my wife enjoyed her roast dinner. Food served quick and the service from Ebony was top notch. I will be returning
Phil H — Google review
Went to the Red Admiral for the Sunday quiz, they were clearly short staffed as someone couldn't make it in so Mona & Georgina were multi-tasking, running the bar, quiz, serving food and clearing up. Both did a great job with a smile and kept everyone happy. Lovely staff
Chris G — Google review
I went to the red admiral yesterday for a light bite after work. I was served at the bar by a lovely lady called ella, she was helpful on recommending vegan options and i ended up having the cauliflower wings! So delicious! This staff member made my experience smooth, and she was so lovely and polite! Thankyou Ella!
Shan C — Google review
Lovely family friendly pub. The menu had something for everyone — tasty and fresh food, great portion sizes, and a lovely kids’ menu that even our picky eater enjoyed! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxed, family-friendly pub experience!

After a busy day at the seaside. It was nice to relax and have a bite to eat. The 40% off and kids eat for a £1 was a real bonus. Thank you Harriet and Holly for the wonderful service. We’ll definitely come back again.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, the Black Horse is a delightful pub that perfectly captures the essence of a local gem. Just a short drive from historical sites like Farleigh Hungerford Castle and Westwood Manor, this charming establishment offers more than just great food. Visitors rave about its inviting atmosphere and friendly staff who make everyone feel right at home. The decor is impressively clean and well-furnished, with polished tables that stand out from typical pub offerings.
Been coming here for a little while now and what an amazing pub. The managers and all the staff are warm and welcoming. The food this evening was absolutely amazing. The steaks were mouthwatering and to our cooking standard. Not had any queries about the food here, all prepared and served nicely and tastefully.
Kelly D — Google review
Amazing experience, Emma the general manager very welcoming, always smiling! Absolutely bossing that pub, its and amazing place to visit. And the food made by Ash, absolutely pukka!! Best food ive had in a long time! 100% recommend. 100% will be returning! Amazing team all round!
James T — Google review
Popped in for food for the first time which was delicious! There was a wide variety on the menu and a wide variety of drinks on the bar both draught and bottled. The staff were great and the service was quick. We will be sure to pop in again, hopefully when the sun’s out so we can catch some rays in the beer garden!
Victoria D — Google review
me and my family have been here on multiple occasions since January for birthdays and each time has been perfect for us all. tables of up to 18 of us! the staff are always amazing, and accommodating to all of our needs and welcoming! we love it here and will continue to return!
Shannon R — Google review
Yet again, we had a smashing meal, well priced, and our poorly doberman got lots of loves. Xx Mya was working her socks off switching hats from bar girl to cashier to table clearer, with such speed and agility it took my breath away!! ALL the customers and their dogs, that i saw, were very happy. Having a gluten free menu is brilliant and I can defo vouch for the chicken dishes! Plus apple crumble of course. Xx
Caroline C — Google review
My wife, myself and our dog visited the Black horse in early June we had been staying in Bradford on Avon- where for some reason most pubs were not doing food and those that were, were not dog friendly. A quick search on the Internet found us the Black Horse a few miles away in Trowbridge upon entering the pub we were surprised at how well furnished it was and especially how clean it was- this pub has shiny smooth polished tables not the beer sticky offerings of the majority! The welcome was warm even our dog felt welcome being greeted by the landlady who was obviously a dog lover. I ordered an all day breakfast my wife a vegetarian mushroom pie we were both impressed with the quality and quantity of our food the ONLY disappointing thing is that the pub is not in our own town in Worcestershire. I highly recommend this place
Tim W — Google review
A Proper Local Gem! The Blackhorse is everything you want in a great local pub warm, welcoming, and full of character. The staff are always friendly and make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. Whether you’re popping in for a quiet pint, a catch-up with friends, or one of their live music nights, the atmosphere is always spot on. The food is surprisingly good too — proper pub classics done right, with generous portions and fair prices. The drinks selection is solid, with a good range of beers, ciders, and spirits, and they keep the place clean and comfortable without losing that traditional pub charm. If you’re in the area and haven’t been, you’re missing out. A real community spot that deserves the support!
Billy K — Google review
Whilst under new management, the pub is such a nice environment to be in, whether it’s for food, drinks or just a social gathering. Jake, Mya, Cinda, Leeci and Zara are amazing at what they do, very friendly and very welcoming”

When you find yourself in Trowbridge, The Albany Palace - JD Wetherspoon is a must-visit destination. Recently refurbished, this establishment boasts a fresh and inviting ambiance that enhances your dining experience. The staff are not only friendly but also maintain high cleanliness standards throughout the venue, ensuring tables are promptly cleared and everything from floors to restrooms sparkles. While the food and drinks come at wallet-friendly prices typical of Wetherspoons, some dishes may leave room for improvement in terms of preparation.
Absolutely awesome building and newly refurbished. There's also a garden area 👌 Best prices and best beers by far! Why go to another pub and say 3 X more for your pint? We love spoons, keep it up!
ROBERT M — Google review
The Albany Palace in Trowbridge has really stepped up its game after the recent refurbishment. The place looks much nicer now, with a fresh and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly, helpful, and made the experience even better. We visited over the weekend, and although it was busy, the service was still efficient. As with most Wetherspoons, the food and drinks were very affordable, making it great value for money. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
Pramod S — Google review
One of the cleanest Wetherspoons I've been in, there were no dirty plates or glasses on any table, and tables were cleared as soon as they were vacated. The floors, carpet, walls and even the toilets were spotlessly clean too - a credit to the staff on duty there. Found free parking (3 hour max) on a nearby road (New Road), saving having to pay! Within 100 yards or so, you'll find: a sensory garden, a war memorial statue, a children's playground, local shops and the town hall - of architectural interest.
Phil B — Google review
Usually you get decent service and you know what you’re getting for the price and it is what it is. The breakfast is good value for money and usually okay. This is what I got because there were no eggs which I wasn’t told, all cold and bacon from the day before - pretty grim!
Louise K — Google review
Only 2 stars because they have a lovely courtyard beer garden which has clear signage stating No Smoking & No Vaping and there were loads doing both. Staff were bringing drinks in and out and said nothing. So EITHER enforce your own rules or take the signs down/or if it does not apply to the courtyard area, still take the signs down. And no ashtrays, so it's just all going on the ground !!
152bobby — Google review
Food really good value for money .Excellent service. The only negative was cold air blowing the whole time so our food was cold within a couple of minutes, a real shame .
Linda P — Google review
Made a beautiful job of refurbishment. Outdoor area seems particularly well designed. Stairs to the loos repositioned are less steep and safer, plus, loos are as usual have had money spent on them.. Appreciated some new relaxing chairs. Staff were in abundance, but ofcourse it was their official opening day.
Mike L — Google review
Visited yesterday afternoon. Ordered two burgers that appeared undercooked and pink inside after eating some; My 19-month-old ate some and later developed a fever, which I am awaiting 111 advice. Additionally, I did not receive a drink I paid for with my meal. I was unaware dogs were not allowed inside and was in the beer garden (a shame because I’d sat all children down at this point, after a drive to Trowbridge and they were happy in the garden) when staff told me to leave while ordering at the bar. I agreed but asked if I could have my food as takeaway so the children could still eat. Server then said I could not have a drink with the meal as they can’t be take away? , even though drinks were available in bottles (just still water). I felt uncomfortable as I overheard staff discussing me over the microphone. I did get a refund and the manager was happy to do so, but I want to write this to avoid anyone else having the same issue.

Incredible! The food was outstanding, service excellent and a lovely little gem of a restaurant. I couldn't recommend more! Only a few tables inside the restaurant so cosy setting, with good music and just phenomenal recipes.

Ok, so I am generally a fussy eater and when I looked at the menu I really wasn't sure I was going to like much, but it was our anniversary and my wife liked the menu. OMG was I wrong. The food was fantastic and when they had just sold out of the dishes we wanted (we had a late booking due to kids etc) the staff could see we were disappointed and they actually went out at 9pm and bought more of the 2 dishes....now that was service. Possibly and probably the best food I have ever had anywhere.

This was our first time at the Hidden Chief for our monthly date night & just wow. All of the food here is just amazing & so delicious. Honestly one of the best meals we have had for a long time & it's so good the see a restaurant delivering such high standards of food with locally sourced ingredients in Trowbridge. 10/10 to all the staff for a really enjoyable meal.
Ozzie M — Google review
Food was really nice, fresh, good quality and very tasty. Small restaurant which doesn't quite match the quality of the food but it is all about the food and service which was the right balance of attentive but not intrusive and friendly. Can see chef working which is also a nice touch.

I am proud to be a "regular" at Rose and Crown and the staff are always friendly, welcoming and helpful. My friends and I always look forward to Quiz Night especially - always presented by the charming host in good spirits and because it's for charity, the winning team always kindly gives their winnings back into the charity fund - so it's always a great night of light-hearted fun and entertainment, plus supporting well-deserved charities. A big "well done" to all the staff and quiz hosts.

Really good Sunday roast. I like to go to this pub now and again, it’s a classic pub. Once I got the chance to get beef cooked on gravy, was the best I tried. Amazing brownie, it’s gluten free so it’s nice to have that option. It’s also cheap

Food and drink berry expensive and the front garden is quite dirty Food was ok but wasn't served much on the plate The canal side seating is good and would say is the only reason I would recommend
Infamous P — Google review
I can't comment as a foodie, but for a few drinks I recommend this pub. Nice relaxed atmosphere, pleasant staff members, nice decor, pool table, darts, fruit machines, jukebox and TV's. Clean and modern toilets, including a disabled one. The garden is large with plenty of tables and grassed area, also tables out the front. This pub is next to a busy roundabout, but there is ample parking in the centre of this roundabout. Crossing the roads is simple due to the many pedestrian crossings. Dogs and children welcome.

1st time here for food and drink. What can I say just wow, all the staff are just so friendly and very helpful. The food is just unreal. My partner had the fish and chips and she said it's the best one she had
Stephen G — Google review
Editing my review after two recent visits. 9 months ago I gave it 5 stars but lately I can't say its the same. Small portion of roast dinner, not a very nice burger and bun, limited drink selection, and the staff don't seem very clued up on allergens which always worries me. The chips were nice, but for over £15 a meal it didn't seem like good value.

Working away and needing a place that's not the normal eatery. This is a really lovely place, nice outside space to eat and drink. Had a tasty meal which was good value. Unfortunately they forgot to bring out some of our extras at the time of service so we had to wait a little longer than anticipated. Highly recommended as this place has a lovely atmosphere.

Having not been to the bear in a long while and seeing that it’s under new management we decided to give it a go. We took our 11 month old son, and were immediately greeted by friendly staff. A high chair was in place for us and our drinks order was taken promptly. Upon ordering food we were presented with fantastic looking meals, extremely well presented. These meals were top class. All of us enjoyed what we ordered, it was obvious that it had been prepared and cooked by a quality chef. 10/10 would visit again, and highly recommend.

Went to the bear this evening with my partner and son, very accommodating for my 11month old who is dairy free! The food was incredible - what a turn around the place has had. Definitely recommend to anyone - cater for all needs and the staff were friendly and the service was great! We will definitely be returning!

We were in the area for a family day out and saw the good reviews of this place and thought we would give it a try. So glad we did! We received such a warm welcome even though we had our baby and dog with us. The food was delicious, we went for the Sunday roast and everything was delightful. So glad we stumbled across The Old Bear Inn and we will definitely be back when we are next in the area.

The menu is good and the food is delicious. The serving staff are really friendly. For some unknown reason they don't appear to keep white wine in a fridge so on 2 separate occasions now its been served to me warm. It could easily be 5 stars if they served their white wine chilled.

Lovely pub a short walk from the canal. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and the service was excellent. The food was very good, really exceeded our expectations of a pub dinner. Our dog was welcome and there were many other doggy friends for him to meet. It's a shame we live so far away because we would definitely like to go back.

The Wiltshire Yeoman is a delightful spot that has quickly become a favorite for many. With its new management, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it an ideal place to enjoy a meal with friends or family. Diners rave about the fantastic food, including generous portions of fish and chips and ribeye steak, all at reasonable prices. The menu features plenty of gluten-free options, ensuring everyone can find something delicious to enjoy.
Went to the yeoman tonight on the spur of the moment (didn’t want to stay at fat club), my friend had heard they had a new menu that had lots of gluten free options, so thought, why not! It did not disappoint, the food was fantastic, my friend (gluten free) had pretty much the choice of the whole menu, even got an allergy free napkin 😆. She had Fish and chips which looked fab and huge. I chose something that wasn’t available 🤦🏼‍♀️ so in a panic to choose quickly (my friend getting hangry) I went for ribeye. I don’t usually have steak unless it’s somewhere fancy as it can be a disappointment, however not the case here, it was bloody lovely. medium rare, cooked to perfection, with a lovely generous helping of blue cheese sauce. The onion rings were fresh and crispy as well as lovely chunky chips, mushroom and peas. All wonderfully hot, burnt my tongue as I couldn’t wait for it to cool down. As the food was sooo good, it would have been crazy not to try pudding right? Bring on the waffles! They were massive, and delicious! I will leave this photo here, my gluten free friend observing my non gluten free waffles 😆 I have to say a special shout out to our lovely young waitress, Lani. Really polite, friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Happy to have a chat and make us feel very welcome. We will definitely be back. Thank you Wiltshire Yeoman.

Came for Sunday carvery, the veg all looked very dry, old and not very appetising despite this it tasted ok. The service was slow and awful so many staff just wondering aimlessly maybe needing someone older to actually manage them it’s just kids running a bar and floor alone. The prices were disgusting £14 for a child’s tiny carvery that had barely any meat and obviously won’t be eating much veg is disgusting prices. Don’t see the pub lasting very long again.
Hannah G — Google review
We were told we could only have basket meals in the garden so opted for 3 children and two adult meals. There was very little difference in the portions and what we thought was strange was if you had a child's meal indoors you had a free drink but this didn't apply in the garden...how strange ! Having said that the meals came, all very dry, and cheap processed food, we left most of it, won't be coming back, the worst pub meal we've had in a very long time !!!

Went for a lunchtime meal and ordered fish and chips and the ploughman's. Outstanding food, so delicious with very generous portions. The price was more than reasonable. The service was also fantastic. A young man called George served us, he couldn't have done more and was very polite and friendly. Can't wait to go back and try the evening menu. Good, homecooked food and a lovely place to be.

Lovely food and great service. It's a shame everyone with a dog has to fit in such a tiny space. Surely the further they are away from each other the calmer everything would be.

We have had the best dinner tonight! Garlic mushrooms was a hit! And the kids are full and happy! Not long waiting time. And pudding was just yummy! We all left with full bellys, thankyou to the chef ( Pete we do believe) for feeding us with beautiful food very talented 😋

Myself and friends enjoyed a nice meal tonight. The young man Ryan that looked after our table was charming and looked after us very well. My scampi was cooked to perfection. We will be coming back.

Today we went for breakfast and our waitress was Darna, she was lovely and made us feel very welcomed!! She chatted to us like we were regulars and couldn’t do enough for us!! Thanks Darna we will be back again soon xxx

Love this place. Came here for New Year’s Eve and was greeted by two extremely security. Me and my mates went straight to to bar where the barman called xav helped us pick some great cocktails. All reasonably priced with some brilliant tunes. Thank you for a really good night. I will definitely be returning in the new year x

This morning, I visited the bar BeeTees and was impressed by the outstanding service and customer care. The staff were incredibly amicable and had a great sense of humor. I left feeling rejuvenated and content, ready to begin my day with a positive mindset. BeeTees is an excellent establishment that combines the qualities of both a café and a bar, accompanied by enjoyable music.
Came in for a coffee this morning and the service and customer service was fantastic. Really friendly and humorous staff on today. Will be returning again I feel much more relaxed and happy to start the day. Great cafe/bar and music 🎶

Nice place to go out with or meet up with people. Unfortunately won't be returning due to their high prices £5.10 for a pint of Carling. REALLY???? No disrespect meant but I won't pay that. I'm aware that the owners are now moving onto the Courthouse around the corner. I said in my review of the Courthouse that if your prices is anything to go by, then the chance that I give the Courthouse will be short lived. £5.10 for a pint of Carling is far too much.

Absolutely fun, friendly and vibrant location, staff accommodating, and they even let me sing on the Friday karaoke night, all different variety of ages and people from various walks of life. No drama, no nastiness, and no animosity! A complete credit, asset, to the local community, also becoming quite a treasure to the trowbridge nightlife.

Fab place, fab staff, all lovely and polite and can't do enough for you. Best cup of tea for absolutely miles and everything so reasonably priced. Nice clean and well laid out fully accessible toilet is a rarity!! Great to see this place doing well, hope it continues to do so.

Stopped for lunch, nice outside seating area, friendly attentive staff. Had a cheese & ham panini with a side of onion rings. The panini was nice enough but could have benefited from being in the press longer so as to get the cheese melting, nice touch on the accompanying salad and good that the salad was dressed, many places forget this touch. I will return and try something else, I hear good things about the breakfast offering so maybe....
Rob N — Google review
Not been during the day but for night life its the place to be. Always a good vibe, the door staff are really good so there is never any trouble, and Friday/Saturday night Karaoke is such a laugh. Couldnt recommend it more.
