Pub
Bar
Nestled in the heart of the New Forest, The Oak Inn in Bank near Lyndhurst is a charming country pub that embodies the essence of traditional British hospitality. Owned by a major brewery, this inviting establishment features on-site parking and serves up a delightful menu that combines classic dishes with modern flair, all crafted from locally sourced ingredients. Whether you're stopping by for lunch or dinner, you'll find something to satisfy your cravings.
We had dinner in this country pub which is really nice. It is settled in the heart of the new forest in a very quiet road. The car park has flat pebbles and they look great. The building is beautiful inside with low ceilings, full of character. We were attended politely and the food came quickly. The portions were good and we really enjoyed our dinner.

So happy we stumbled upon this lovely pub in the new forest. One of the better Sunday roasts we've had in a while! We had the new "sharing roast" between 3 of us and we were absolutely stuffed. You get a bit of every meat and all the regular trimmings plus some cauliflower cheese! Not to mention the service was amazing and the servers were just the kindest people 🤩
Craig L — Google review
We had a wonderful Sunday lunch at The Oak. The food was amazing and the service exceptional. Anita, who gave us a warm welcome, looked after us and made sure everything was in order. The food here is really good; great presentation and generous portions. The Fullers beer is served from the barrel so is fresh and in tip top condition. If you haven't visited The Oak put it on your to-do list because it's a gem.

We visited the Oak Inn on Sunday 6th July 2025 for lunch. We were greeted by friendly bar staff and were placed in a lovely bay window table. All the staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. The roast chicken was very tasty and portions are not stingy here, we all got so full up. The atmosphere of the pub was great, and we can’t wait to come back in the colder months as it would be very cosy. Will definitely recommend. Thank you.

Best steak I have had in years! Great decor n service. Lovely to follow lane on for a wander in forest. Heard a woodpecker. Ponies passing us to take a drink at a brook. The free library in telephone box outside looks a tad sad so bring some unwanted but quality books to top it up ;-).
Marta E — Google review
I came here for the 1st time in a long time, we had 3 roast been dinners, I was so disappointed. And the serving staff I think might not be allowed to speak to customers as I never got anything from the young lady serving us. Food and service was awful, luckily they had good customers, as it helped with the atmosphere. I won’t be coming again. I will say location and building is amazing, just a shame about everything else. Food attached of the beef, I couldn’t cut because it was so tough.

Have often driven past and wondered what is was like. We cycled there as a group on a tour of the local pubs. Had a lovely Thai green curry and it was served with a pint of Clarksons Hawkstone lager! What a great combo The interior of the pub is spotless and had a welcome feel to it . The bar staff are very friendly and the service on the food was very good

We had a lovely meal with visiting Polish friends, we wanted a typical English experience. Chloe was superb from the moment we arrived, she was engaging and friendly. A real personal touch which made our visit very memorable. Thank you Chloe for your warm welcome. Thank you too for the delicious fish and chips and beer!

Pub
The Royal Oak is a charming partly-thatched pub located in the heart of the New Forest, popular among walkers and visitors seeking a bucolic experience. The pub offers a selection of real ales, cozy log fires, and a spacious garden where summer barbecues are held. Guests can immerse themselves in its traditional character with shepherd's hut accommodations available for overnight stays. The surrounding area provides plenty of lovely walks, making it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts.
Brilliant pub, lovely country views and vibes. Large outdoor seating area, plenty of space but gets busy. Every kind of ploughmans you could imagine. That's all they sell. Stroke of genius. Delicious ice cream. Wonderful on a sunny day. Food was delicious and fresh, service was fast. Local ales. Parking a little awkward and small for the size of the pub. Dog friendly outside. Walks nearby.
Raindrops — Google review
Called in to The Royal Oak at lunch time. Their menu seemed to specialise mostly in types of ploughman’s. We ordered 1 ham and cheese, saying we’d share it between us. When it came it was very large and delicious! Plenty for the two of us. It came with a large variety and a lot of ham, cheese and bread with cutlery and plates for two! Quick, polite service, large pub garden with well spaced apart tables. Well worth a visit. It’s now in my satnav for return visits!

Whether you're a hiker, a dog walker, or just someone looking for great food in a beautiful setting, this pub hits all the right notes. Tucked away in stunning New Forest, surrounded by natural beauty and just a stone’s throw from several idyllic walking trails, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a long ramble through the woods. The spacious interiors are warm and welcoming, with plenty of room to relax whether you’re dropping in for a quick pint or settling down for a long, leisurely lunch. The menu is packed with delicious dishes and comes in quick! What truly sets this place apart, is the attentive, friendly people working there. Outside, the dog-friendly front garden is a real treat too. 5 stars well deserved!
IZABELA C — Google review
A pub has to be sure of it's menu when they have such a small selection. But The Royal Oak have it spot on. Ploughmans, with cheese, with gammon, with both, with quiche, with sausage roll or with pork pie. Really, really good, and a lovely setting with fantastic views.
John P — Google review
Love this pub. It always keeps a wide range of proper local beers/ales and cider. The food menu is ploughman’s, and the quality is top notch. It really is a local gem.
Simon B — Google review
Had lunch here on a glorious sunny day. Washed down with a pint of Sunshine. It can't get any better. We went for a walk later past Eyeworth pond and beyond. A perfect afternoon.
Malcolm C — Google review
Lovely pub in the New Forest. Great destination for lots of walkers and cyclists. Know for its ploughman's. I was very slightly disappointed in the cheddar one but the blue cheese was good. Service was good. We had to move inside because we were swarmed with bees! They are doing their best to deal with them. Watch out in August. All in all, very pleasant.
Katie H — Google review
Great ploughman's lunch, although quite a lot of salad leaves some of which could be replaced with a different item, such as a celery stick (just my personal opinion). Very enjoyable plate of food nonetheless. Beautiful setting, plenty of tables and staff friendly and attentive. Highly recommend and will most certainly return.

Nestled in the heart of the New Forest National Park, Red Shoot is a charming country pub and microbrewery that offers a delightful dining experience for both humans and their furry companions. After a leisurely stroll through the picturesque New Forest, where you may encounter free-roaming ponies, deer, and pigs, you can head to this inviting Linwood establishment for a delectable Sunday roast or sample one of their own brews.
Lovely pub. Friendly staff, food was excellent. Reasonably priced for quality and size of portions. Not too long of a wait for food. Lovely atmosphere of an old country pub. Dog friendly as well. Would love to come back again in future on our next holiday.

We hadn't eaten here for a while but we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food today on father's day. Four adults and 3 Children. All our meals came out promptly hot & together. We all had the roast dinners and the children pretty much cleared their plates. Staff were all very pleasant and tables cleared quickly after we had finished eating. Some opted for delicious puddings. A wonderful relaxing father's day. A big thank you to all the staff for excellent food & service 🙏

Nice Sunday lunch. Had the beef and a bottle of wine :) . Was really nice abs good value for the money . Had foud outside on terrace . Visited toilet which were nice and clean. Shame the was no cheese option to finish off the wine. Well presented, nicely decorated with flowers. Inside was very cute dog friendly. They even have a dog menu to order treats. And overall price was good. Thank you I will definately go back again.
Didier M — Google review
Lovely little pub next to Red Shoot camping with a good amount of tables outside and a rustic feel with ornate wooden fixtures inside. Still feels like a pub with some personality unlike the copy paste interior of some chain pubs. However, the food was a real let down. Pasta was unsalted and bland, it didn't seem to have been seasoned at all. The chorizo was watery and tasteless and the prawns were tough as old boots. Having had chips the previous day that were really nice it was a shame to be let down by our mains the following day. Definitely worth a pint in the sun but I wouldn't waste your money coming for dinner.
John R — Google review
This is a wonderful pub in the New Forest to visit. The beer and food are good and the staff are a great help with everything.
Richard M — Google review
We paid the Red Shoot an impromptu visit last night ( phoned 2 mins before arriving and pleased we did as it quickly filled up).We were seated straight away and our food came quick after ordering. I had the steak and ale pie and it was honestly one of the best I've tasted. Hubby had a burger and chips and he really enjoyed it. The servers were really friendly and attentive. There was also live music and the guy was brilliant. Couldn't fault our evening at all and looking forward to going back!
Jenny L — Google review
From as soon as you walk in the atmosphere is brilliant no matter what time of day you go in or night. Went in on a Friday night for dinner as we were staying at red Shoot campsite next door, just had burger and fries, burger was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time very filling and a good portion of fries. Went back on the Saturday night and had stake and chips the steak was cooked to perfection which was medium rare very tasty from the first bite. And then we had the homemade chocolate brownie and chocolate sauce with vanilla ice cream heaven. Will definitely be coming back even if we're not stopping at the site we will stop for something to eat. Must say big thanks to the supervisor Courtney from making us very. welcome
David M — Google review
Having eaten at this pub one lunchtime, I was very impressed, as the atmosphere, food and staff were all excellent. A wonderful, quiet country pub that was a real pleasure to go to. With my family, we went back in the evening and it was so bad, we had to leave. The problem was even though we had a reservation for dinner, we were placed on a table very close to a singer who was so loud, it was uncomfortable. It was the only table available. Why? Because no-one else wanted to sit there due to the volume. We tried to sit there, but after not being able to have a conversation, we asked to be moved but without success (the staff did try). We left our untouched drinks and went elsewhere. Why do quiet country pubs feel the need to have musicians that play so loud it is difficult to have a conversation? The only people who like this are the musicians themselves and the staff. Most customers hate it. It is such a shame to ruin the atmosphere like this.

Nestled in the picturesque town of Lyndhurst, The New Forest Inn is a charming 18th-century pub that exudes character with its wood-panelled interiors and low-beamed ceilings. Guests can unwind on the leafy terrace while enjoying a delightful British bar menu that showcases local flavors. This inviting establishment not only offers cozy accommodations but also provides easy access to nearby attractions, making it an ideal spot for travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure in the heart of nature.
Met friends here for dinner last night and had a great evening. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had drinks in the beer garden which is separated into sections and well maintained. Then dinner inside the pub. Good menu with a decent range of gluten free options and also vegan choices. Food was amazing and good portion sizes. Very dog friendly as well had 2 dogs as part of the group. Everyone in our group was very impressed and we will be returning. Great location.

What a great place. Parking was tough, but worth it. The food was heavenly, my wife had a roast that she said was the best pub roast she'd ever had and I had pie. It was brilliant. The food took a while to cone but you don't mind when it's fresh cooked and delicious! The staff were really welcoming and the atmosphere of the pub was superb. So nice to find a place like this, independently run and done so well. Will definitely be back again and again and again.

Lovely pub in the middle of New Forest, great location. We visited it today for lunch. Pub is quite spacious with seats inside and a lot of space in the garden. The Sunday roast beef was very tasty but it could be better with more seasonings and more gravy on the side. The lamb pie was also worth trying. Definitely a place worth visiting, we were lucky to spot horse outside.
Gosia L — Google review
We've had a day out on the New Forest to take advantage of the last glorious summer day yesterday, and landed at this Country Inn after 2 failed attempts at other pubs whose kitchen was closed (at 5pm on a sunny Friday 😅). We are SO glad those kitchens were closed!! The New Forest Inn is a true gem, beautiful setting in lush greenery but not too far from the main road. The kitchen is open every day all day, and the selection of dishes as well as the quality were simply outstanding. My hubby had the venison pie, I had the fish & chips. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, I've had the best chips I've ever had, they literally melted in my mouth, all the veggies were exactly as we like them, still with a bit if crunch. Service was attentive, friendly and quick. There was a tiny wait for the food due to the fact that everything was made from scratch, I think even the sauce tartare was homemade! I've said to my husband that, if he ever feels like I deserve a date night where he doesn't have to come up with anything but just book a totally safe option, I'd LOVE to stay a night here! We'll be back regardless this winter, as the Christmas menu also looked very appealing.
Dulcinea C — Google review
Amazing pub! Service was great, the ladies that work there were delightful and all had a smile on their faces. Probably the best roast dinner we have every had, great tasting locally sourced food, meat and vegetables cooked to perfection everything tasted so fresh. Thank you
Leoni M — Google review
On the plus side, the New Forest Inn was a nice, good old fashioned forest pub. The menu seems to offer much, but was somewhat lacking in the delivery. The food was mediocre for the price, and the lamb pie had a rather odd consistency for a meat pie filling. Despite stating that the filling was slow roasted lamb and Guinness, it did not have very much flavour. Drinks seemed on the expensive side. Staff were friendly.
Frances O — Google review
I really enjoy visiting this pub. We went last Saturday. Had a lovely meal, especially recommend the venison shepherds pie. The service was excellent. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because on the next table to us a woman was openly vaping at the table and it was drifting over our table whilst we were eating, which I found quite offensive.
Joyce M — Google review
Just a lovely place. Don't be put off by the weathered exterior, inside is the cosiest, most interesting and welcoming bar and restaurant. The rooms are lovely too, would benefit from a hair dryer in the room, but other than that perfect!

When in Ashurst, don't miss out on The New Forest, a spacious traditional English country pub offering a delightful menu and an extensive drink selection. Whether you're craving a hearty meal or just looking for a relaxing atmosphere with scenic views of the New Forest, this pub has it all. With its cozy dining room and inviting beer garden, it's the perfect spot to unwind after a day of adventure.
The New Forest was booked by our daughter for her wedding reception. Full marks to the staff and chefs. The food was delicious, the service impeccable and the space perfect. Nothing was too much trouble when we went on Friday to deliver the things the bride and groom wanted. The whole team at the venue were brilliant and every commendation to them. Cathy and John Merivale (parents of the bride).

Although this was a very welcome stop after a long walk, it was slightly disappointing. 😪 The staff were fab and super helpful, the venue was OK but could be better and the food was typical chain pub grub which was disappointing but at least edible so I can't complain that much! 😏 My husband had the lasagne and I had the cheeseburger but we've definitely had better! Great location with plenty of parking and the service was good and the staff were welcoming.
Anne S — Google review
Superb pub right on the edge of the New Forest. The food and beer is excellent and so is the service. Lots of space to eat and drink indoors and a huge garden with both covered and open seating. Very friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. You can even get there by train, as Ashurst station shares the same car park
Alan M — Google review
We came here for dinner, the pub itself is really nice and has a lovely atmosphere. Plenty of inside seating and also a lovely outside area that is covered. The staff were very friendly and helpful and service was quick. The only slight let down was the food, we felt it was quite expensive for the quality of food we received. Other than that, it was a lovely place to stop off for a drink.

Came for a close friend’s wedding. Everything was perfect for them. Food arrived in a timely manner and was hot, tasty and presented beautifully. (I highly recommend the soup!!). Drinks were speedy and cold. The venue looked fantastic and immaculate. All staff were lovely and went above and beyond, no requests were too big on their big day. Guests were well looked after. Thank you to all staff for working so hard to make the day that extra bit more special, especially on a Monday after probably a very busy weekend! I’d highly recommend this venue for a wedding or special event, or even just a pint in the sun.

Lovely fish and chips, lots of space and nice staff. Guinness not great the time I went there - although deserves a fair second chance. Kid playing giant connect 4 in the marque area was jarring to my ears

The Chequers Inn is a charming 16th-century pub and restaurant located in Lymington, serving as the clubhouse for the Lymington Mariners. With its cozy atmosphere and selection of real ales and wines, it offers a delightful experience. Situated near historic salt marshes, it holds nautical significance and welcomes walkers along the ancient maritime pathway. The inn also boasts a walled garden and an a la carte menu featuring seasonal produce.
A lovely pub, lovely people and lovely food. We had a warm welcome. The food portion sizes were huge and we really enjoyed it. Big burger and chips and the liver and bacon was great. The Flack double drop is a nice pint but I tried the Flack IPA for the first time, which is a nice traditional British style IPA. Definitely worth a visit. Oh, and when you ask for a coffee, you get brought a cafetiere of coffee, not the Spanish Inquisition (The Chequers Inn should get a ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ review for just for this alone 😜)

Recommend, good home cooked food reasonable priced. We went to chequers on Friday night, warned about the KOK which sounded fun. 8 of us were put in a side room which was perfect for us to have a great night. Sea bass excellent quality and price. Fish pie enormous. Great value and good service.

Lovely cosy place, nice atmosphere, front and back garden, wide selection of drinks, and various Sunday roast options including veggies. As it was a Sunday we had the Sunday menu options only to comment on. The portions were really generous and the service was quick and helpful, clean toilets and not very expensive per person £25 for starter+main+drinks. Nice afternoon spent in a lovely place

What a super find off the beaten track. Loved the relaxed atmosphere and friendly, warm welcome. Lots of places to sit inside and out. The salads were amazing!! Prices great. Go there!

This is a real pub, totally authentic and with an atmosphere all of its own. There is a good range of drinks for just about all tastes. The food is great with a good choice of fish, meat and vegetarian options. Portions are generous. This place is well worth seeking out as pubs like this are hard to find these days.

We used to come to this pub all the time when visiting relatives. We came for Sunday lunch this week and the food and service were first class. The staff were attentive without being obtrusive and the visit reminded us of what we'd been missing. As we're staying in the area for a few months we'll definitely visit again!

Great find amongst the marshes and trees outside of Lymington. Lovely beer garden and marquee (s) . The staff were very friendly. We had the ploughman’s, which was nicely served , tasty and plenty of food. Prices very competitive.

Just had lunch here with my sister and her family including a 6 and 2 year old. Lovely pub with lots of character. A great outdoor undercover seating area with big screen TV and patio heaters. Food portions were very adequate and all in our party enjoyed their meals. I went for the battered cod and chips and certainly won’t need to be eating dinner tonight. If you’re in the area it’s well worth a visit. It’s off season at the moment however it was still pretty busy. We didn’t book ahead and were fortunate to get a table. The Hare & Hounds is a charming 200-year-old coaching inn located in the picturesque village of Sway, nestled in the heart of the stunning New Forest. Run by Brendan, Julia, and their attentive staff, this family-friendly pub offers a warm welcome to all visitors. The inn boasts a spacious lounge bar and separate global pub and vegetarian menus, ensuring there's something for everyone.
This is a nice cosy pub. There is a fantastic range of drinks on offer and plenty of dining area which is very nicely furnished. The food is excellent, and the service is first class. This pub is dog friendly and there is a children's play area outside. I did see there is also plenty of outdoor seating for that nice summers' day drink. Get along and find out. Recommended

Another little gem from years ago, on the edge of New Forest heathland. The original bar has been stretched and now allows for a lot more custom. Nice selection of beers and a good menu. Popular place for meals. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Garden and play area to the rear. Tables out the front. Large car park and friendly staff.

Me and my boyfriend have been here a couple of times now. The food and service is amazing! The portion size is absolutely massive, it’s great value for money! If you haven’t been I definitely would recommend you going as you will not be disappointed. I really appreciate them fitting us in tonight as we booked a table very last minute but they still accommodated us. Thank you so much😊

Lovely pub, lovely food and friendly service. Menu has a great variety and bar well stocked, worth a visit if in the area. I would recommend booking if planning to visit as peak time i e Sunday lunch.

Nice pub. Nice food. Good choices for vegetarians and also some vegan dishes. GF options as well I believe. Friendly staff. Food portions for adults are generous in my opinion. Kids menu available if you need it. Read the menu info (menu photo 4) about food allergies & check on that if applicable! Loads of tables for dining inside and also outside (front & back) on nice weather days. Large, gravelled car park. Toilets were clean and everything worked. Play zone for smaller kids out back on the lawned area. A great choice for some tasty, well cooked and presented pub grub if you're in the area. Dog friendly (keep Muttley on a short lead). Recommended and I'd happily visit again.

Great service and delicious food. This was one of the best meals we have had in a long time, highly recommend if you are in the area.

Have eaten here 3 times this week and each time the service and food quality have been outstanding and consistent. The staff are an absolute credit to the owner attentive but not obtrusive, extremely polite and totally up to speed with their guests. A shout out to the chef as all meals were excellent with a varied menu and lovely to have classics such as the liver and bacon which was amazing. So lovely to frequent a thriving and quality pub these days. All meals reasonably priced too. A massive well done to all the team.

Welcoming Staff, Historic Charm, Mixed Food Booked a table in advance as we were staying locally. Had dinner at this quaint 17th-century New Forest hostelry. The thatched roof and period features give it real character. We were made to feel very welcome—by the landlady, I believe—who was friendly, attentive, and quietly accommodating throughout. The pub has a relaxed, easygoing feel. There’s a garden and plenty of outdoor seating, including covered areas for eating outside. We chose to eat indoors. Food was mixed. I had the trout, which was nicely done, and the vegetables were good. My husband had the curry—it wasn’t to his taste, and he was a little disappointed with his meal. Our child had the children’s meal: burger and cheesy chips. They kindly made the substitution, but there didn’t seem to be many chips—he ended up asking for some of mine, and I had to share to make sure he had enough. A few more would’ve made the difference. For dessert, I had the gluten-free sticky toffee pudding with custard. It was a bit dry—not gooey like it should be—but fine. There was a reasonably good choice of gluten-free options on the menu, which was refreshing to see. I didn’t feel excluded, as I often do in other pubs. Toilets were clean and well maintained. Parking is limited—worth noting if arriving by car, especially during busy periods. It started getting quite busy not long after we arrived. While we were there, a customer’s dog nipped another customer. It wasn’t dramatic and didn’t affect the ambience directly, but it did make things feel uncomfortable. I would return—the welcome was sincere, the setting has charm, and it was good to see thoughtful gluten-free options included without fuss. The thatched roof—the building’s crowning glory—was partially covered with a tarp and clearly in need of attention, which was sad to see. But the atmosphere and kindness made a lasting impression.

So we have been twice (and a half) and have had a mixure of 4* and 5* experiences. Obviously overall pretty good, but going to opt for the 4 star overall. It is a very tucked away and cute pub, oozing with character inside and out. Staff are super friendly and accommodating and have sat in the more bar sort of area rather than the restaurant. Sort of lent a more relaxed and ambient atmosphere, especially because we were sporting a newborn. The drink selection is really solid. The Malbec was very agreeable, and Timothy Taylor is always a welcome sight! The menu is equally really solid. Loads of choice with a smattering of specials on the wall with a pizza menu. If I had to describe the food, I would certainly say it was more of a homemade feel. Not ever going to get the pulse racing, but really satisfying. My partner opted for the vegetarian pizza both visits, receiving a different sort of veggie pizza each time (first one was epic, piled up with raw crunchy veg, with the second a more disappointing damp version). I went for the gammon, egg and chips first time and sampled the burger the second time. The gammon and chips was absolutely bang on, super crispy chips and delicious gammon. The burger did sadly disappoint a bit - although the bacon and cheese was good, it was piled with iceberg lettuce and tomato which was a bit 1990s burger topping. I will however say that it is VERY rare you see trifle on a dessert menu, so credit there for sure (and yes it was absolutely lovely!). We are definitely going to return because I'm keen to sample more of the menu and the price of the menu is really reasonable. Secretly looking forward to more home made magic!

I visited the waterloo arms on a recomendation while at the beaulieu autojumble, the wife and I found the atmosphere great and the choise of meals on the menu was great having a choise of smaller portions. I had the garlic mushrooms as a starter (fantastic) , the wife had a prawn cocktail ( tipical sixtys ) she really enjoyed it. Main course wife had a smaller portion of fish & cips with peas, I had the larger beef lasagne it was fantastic would recomend this pub as aplace to eat which I will be doing next year at the autojumble. Thanks very good food see you next year.

My partner & I came here three times on our holiday. The staff were so friendly & professional. Drink selection was great, especially the cider. Lunch & dinner was delicious. Atmosphere is historic, cosy & warm, especially the front room. We enjoyed this pub more than the ones in the town centre as it feels more personal. Thank you!

Pub
The Three Tuns is a charming historic inn located in Bransgore, Christchurch, Dorset. This picturesque thatched pub offers a classic British dining experience and features a large beer garden and on-site parking. The traditional low-ceilinged charm of the country pub is complemented by neatly tended thatch and whitewashed exterior. In the summer, visitors can enjoy an attractive shrub-sheltered terrace with picnic sets and tables overlooking pony paddocks.
Went for a walk in the New Forest and came across this lovely pub when looking for somewhere to stop for lunch that let's dogs in. Really friendly staff and great atmosphere. No problem getting a table as a walk-in, and we could sit comfortably in the bar area with our dog. Great choice of food on the menu, and all reasonably priced, too. Went for the burger, which was massive and tasted so fresh, homemade, and really rich and meaty. The staff also didn't mind us giving our dog a treat as we ate our lunch, and there were also complimentary dog treats at the bar. The deserts looked too good to miss, and we opted for the aquafaba lemon meringue (our first time trying aquafaba meringue!) and the melt-in-the-middle chocolate pudding with ice cream. Both deserts were morish, and definitely hit the spot after a fantastic meal. We will definitely be back when next in the New Forest!

The inside of the pub has quite a short roof so if you're tall then be careful but it's a lovely little place. The inside is a little too dark and cramped for my liking but they have a beautiful outside area you can drink or eat in. The food was absolutely fantastic! It is pricey but it's worth the price and the staff are very polite and attentive. We tried the local cider which was nice however, it did have a bit of an IPA beer taste which I enjoyed. My photograph does not do the size of the beef patty justice - very filling tasty meals the both of them!

Enjoyed a lovely lunchtime on the terrace. Menu choice is varied, lots to choose from. Food and presentation was excellent, lasagne was probably one of the best I've had, and I was able to pre-book a dressed crab salad for my elderly Mum, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Staff were friendly and professional, a little slow taking orders but we weren't in a rush and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere.

Excellent food and service. Asked to taste 3 different flavours of cider before deciding which one we wanted. They obliged and brought them to us in the cutest miniature glasses. A lovely touch was also being brought a little glass of nuts when we arrived.

Surpassed expectations! It’s rare that we stay in one location whilst travelling just because the food is excellent, on this occasion we did. Our meal, service and experience at the Three Tuns was sooo good our onward plans were changed. The Scallops in Pernod butter sauce starter was sublime, so too the catch of the day 🐟 followed by α superb cheese 🧀 board. I tried a couple of the real ales, both were top notch. Steve and the team provide a great rural ambiance in this quant extended thatched cottage.

We stumbled on this country pub by accident. What a great find. The welcome was fabulous. The food and drinks were great and the menu offered a good selection of obviously home cooked and original food. It was served promptly which is always appreciated with my Mum! I think we'll return, soon. I think it'll be a great pub in the winter with open fires.

Honestly the food was great! The chap who worked there was a funny and friendly man! I had the fish and chips which was a huge portion. If you order the chips or cheesy chip then expect a huge amount of chips 🤣it was very quiet and good vibes. (Went in quiet hours)

The Three Tuns Country Inn was very delightful, good food, lovely scenery with a good atmosphere. The staff were very good. I had Duck Pancakes £9.50 for starters and asked for more pancakes, no charge. Had the Fish Platter for two £23.00, asked for more bread, no charge, and desserts. We went a bit over the top on drinks, and the final bill came to £115.72 for two.

The White Buck in Burley is a charming Tudor-style gastropub with seven stylish refurbished bedrooms, set in the heart of the New Forest. Tucked away in the peaceful woods, The White Buck is an absolute gem. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we had stepped into a storybook. The surroundings are serene, filled with birdsong and towering trees, perfect for a relaxing getaway. But the real wow factor was the room. Spacious, beautifully decorated, and incredibly cozy — it felt both luxurious and warm. The attention to detail was impeccable, with thoughtful touches that made the stay extra special. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere throughout the hotel was inviting and calm. Whether you’re looking for a romantic weekend or just a quiet retreat in nature, The White Buck is the perfect place. We’ll absolutely be coming back.

Had a lovely one night stay on route to the Isle of Wight. Must be the most dog friendly place we have visited. Friendly and efficient staff, clean and comfy rooms, really good dinner menu options and a great breakfast. A very well thought out proposition and expectations exceeded. Well done

Really enjoyed our one night stay here. Staff were really lovely. Breakfast was really nice too. Location is ideal to explore the New Forest area. The room was nice, robes, slippers bottle water, etc. They had a fridge on the landing with bottled water and fresh milk which was a great idea. The only slight negative is the bathroom could maybe do with a refresh. Grouting, silicone, etc. Cover to shower handle fell off as it was so stiff to move. But, it certainly didn't detract from our stay and I would definitely come again. Also note this is a very dog friendly hotel, so expect to pass them on the landing.. !

We stayed last night for our 8th anniversary (Johnson) stayed in room 14. The location was beautiful and quiet. The hotel inside is really pretty and the rooms too! We had such a lovely stay. The staff were really helpful and the food was spot on! We had dinner outside which was cooked perfectly. Both agreed we had a great sleep and felt refreshed and then breakfast just topped it off that was delicious! We would definitely consider staying here again.

Rooms were lovely and location is stunning. Also the pub garden was beautiful. The thing that lets this place down is the service. We were a large group of 10 and we were paying for drinks as we went and hadn’t set up any tab. Thank god we got receipts each time as they tried to charge us for a round we had had two hours before on top of the round we were having. I can only imagine some poor people may fall for this and pay twice. We also ordered two rounds of bread and butter and was astonished to have been charged £9.90 for just three pieces of white bread. Last orders on the Friday night was a staggeringly early 10.20pm and one family got served after last orders but when we tried (straight after) we were refused. On check out the same thing happened with being overcharged and worryingly someone else had been able to add their drinks to our room. When we queried this - the staff explained that sometimes they have to guess which room customers are in so that’s probably how it happened!! Both times we were made to feel like we were being sneaky asking for the drinks to be removed - like we were trying to get away with free drinks which was completely not true. Sadly this ruined the whole trip for us and no one apologised or anything

Fantastic 3 day stay.Staff are really helpful and work very hard to make your stay perfect, rooms are clean and well equipped with tea, coffee and a few home made biscuits. Milk is supplied in a cold thermos or there is a little fridge on a table by the top of the stairs. Lots going on on bank holiday for families and couples. Food was lovely and service was great, lots of choice of beers and cider and extensive wine list. Nice walk to the local village which has everything from bike hire to witches shops. One more thing as the hotel is in the forest and it is so quiet in the night its worth getting up and going for a little walk.

Excellent roast-generous portions with variety and flavour, no dryness. Highly recommend the roast. Amazing home made Yorkshires! The pigs in blankets were awful for the price-5 tiny frozen shop bought ones for £5.50 which was not good. That’s over £1 per pig in blanket! Also says on the website they come with the roast chicken but they don’t. Service was great given it was a busy Sunday. Shout out to our lovely waitress with shoulder length blonde hair on Sun 7th Sept lunchtime-she was really accommodating with a brilliant service! Aside from the over priced low quality pigs in blankets, highly recommend the delicious, flavoursome roast here!

What am amazing find! Such a friendly and welcoming pub. The menu is varied, but more importantly, really excellent quality. We had the aubergine rollatini (a rolled-up aubergine and rocotta bake) which was superb. There are different specials and Friday is fish and chips day when you can even take it away if you want (for £12). The Foresters is definitely worth a detour - only about 5 mins from Fordingbridge. Ps. Back again! This time we had the truly amazing burgers (see photo). One was chicken, with pulled pork, cheese, onion rings (all in the burger!), and the other was a double wagyu beef , bacon, cheese and onion rings burger. The wagyu beef was so juicy and beautifully cooked. The home made onion rings were also pretty special too!

We were a mixed aged family group of 30. We booked late afternoon the day before we wanted to arrive. We had the Sunday roast sharer platers, 8 of them at £50 each with extra cauli cheese. Each plater easily served 4. It was absolutely lovely. I can’t believe they managed to get all the platers out in good time. Food was still hot and was very well cooked. They closed a section of the pub off just for us next to access to lovely garden. Staff were polite, patient and understanding. The chef even put the fryers on and did some chips for a child that was fussy. Would highly recommend. We will be back.

I understand everyone can have a bad day in the kitchen, we might have found that day!! Outrageously overpriced!! The chicken schnitzel was nearly black, as if deep-fried in oil from another century, same with the chips. The burger? Dry, no mayonnaise in stock, and genuinely inedible. The bill? £67 for: – 1 burnt schnitzel with burnt chips – 1 dry burger with burnt chips – 3 harsh browns and 2 Moretti The only saving grace was the guy serving, friendly, polite, and clearly trying his best despite the disaster coming out of the kitchen. Shame as the location is nice

Phenomenal service – this place deserves every success. We arrived at The Foresters Arms at the end of Day 3 of a four-day bikepacking trip – exhausted, overheated, and ten minutes past closing. The welcome? “We’ll still serve you… if you don’t mind sitting in the pub garden.” A cold Coke arrived like a gift from the gods, followed by: “We can cook pizza if you’d like… the oven’s only been off five minutes.” After a packed weekend of trading, and with their young family in tow, they could have easily said no. But instead, they went above and beyond. The pizza was fantastic. They refilled and washed our bottles. We shared great conversation and banter. Not quite life-saving… but it certainly felt like it. We’ll be back if we’re ever passing. Thank you 🙏 Stefan and Jason (Bikepackers)

Just had a fantastic stay. The rooms are lovely. My room had a very comfy double bed, there was a small kitchen area too. Plenty of space to hang this up, and the fan was welcome given the warm weather. Towels and some little bottles of shampoo/shower gel were also provided. The pub itself was also fabulous. Breakfast was a fantastic selection of cereals and cooked food, and a tray of fresh raspberries was also provided. In the evening the dinner was really lovely, the food is of great quality, all the dishes I had were a delight, and the beer was tasty with it. Service was absolutely perfect, even with a full busy pub, it was like I was getting personal service. If you're coming for dinner in the evening, do make sure you phone ahead to book a table. It was busy both evenings I was there (which shows how popular it is). Nothing to fault or improve. I shall be planning a return visit with the family.

My wife and I dropped in for a drink late afternoon today. Nice looking country pub, lovely bartenders, our visit spoilt only by 2 apparently inebriated regulars, one of whom deliberately and audibly twice passed wind, once after reversing towards his drinking partner. As tourists we won't be back anyway.

I've been coming here for years with no issues. Food & service is always pleasant, but that ended tonight. Unfortunately, there was a loud drunk sat at the right hand side of the bar shouting, interrupting most of the guests meals and being served while quite visibly drunk. He was slurring his words, struggling to walk and being a social nightmare. I'd at least expect management to cut off his drinks and send him home in a taxi but he was still ordering and being served alcohol while drunk. I think after tonight ill be using a different pub for a 'quiet' drink. Atmosphere 2/10, Service 2/10 and food 9/10. Very disappointed.

Wow, what a great job you did of accommodating our party of 13 people, aged 8 to 80 plus. Required a £5 deposit and to pre-order the food the day before. The pub is a nice vibe and the garden is large, peaceful and quiet. It has cover of its hot too. The staff were lovely and polite. We booked in advance but jt was pretty quiet at 1:30 so could’ve not booked.

Excellent stay here. Room for about 5 campervans,( but contact ahead of arrival, as could get busy ). Steve the landlord was very welcoming. Food was very nice and reasonably priced. New forest walks, literally out the back gate of the pub garden.

Absolutely fantastic Sunday Roast. New landlord has really made a huge effort getting this gorgeous little gem of a pub back from ruin. Looks so great inside now... Super friendly... Brilliant chef! Back to winnings ways... Thank you and we are looking forward to returning soon ☺️

We stumbled across this pub whilst out walking. There was only one other customer and this was a Friday lunchtime. My husband had ham, egg and chips which was fine. I love a ploughman's and was excited to see it on the menu. It was £15.95! The salad garnish was a small pile of limp leaves and 3 skinny sticks of old celery. The ham, sliced apple and pickles were good but I only had half a ciabatta roll with it. I was disappointed. I told the staff and was given the other half of the roll. The atmosphere was very quiet.

We dropped into this lovely pub while in the new forest and ordered the Sunday roast which was amazing and a very generous serving.I had the lamb and hubby had the beef which was cooked to perfection. The portion was so big I kept the leftover for my two dogs 😅 The owners were very welcoming and when in the area again we will 100% be going back to try more of the menu 👍🏻 I wasn’t quick enough to take a picture of hubbys dinner 😅

We love this pub and every time we come to new forest we make sure we pop in. We stay in Brockenhurst either at Hollands wood campsite or a air b&b and it’s about it an hours walk to this pub and our dog can be off lead the whole way - even into the pubs garden. Staff are super friendly and accommodating. The food is so good and large portions. They offer good vegan dishes too. The pub garden is lovely in the summer with a kids area and lots of grass for the dog!

The Huntsman, located in Brockenhurst, has undergone a stylish transformation by Marstons and the Concorde Group. The interior boasts an industrial chic vibe with metal fixtures, reclaimed parquet floors, and plush velour booths. The trendy bedrooms feature window-shaped mirrors, bare-bulb light fittings, and bold patterned fabrics reminiscent of a chic city hotel. For added privacy, guests can opt for rooms in the converted stable block.
Our family lunch at The Huntsman was a great choice. Booking ahead meant we had a lovely, comfortable table in a relaxed and inviting space. The food was a highlight — clearly made with care, packed with flavour, and beautifully plated. The quality, portion size, and attentive service made it a fantastic value. From beginning to end, the experience was smooth and enjoyable. The staff were welcoming and made us feel at home. A fantastic New Forest venue — we’ll definitely visit again.

This was my second visit and it will definitely be my last. I ordered roast beef with no horseradish and a side of cauliflower cheese. The cauliflower cheese never arrived, and the beef was dumped on a bed of horseradish anyway. The beef & Yorkshire pudding were inedible, the potatoes were practically raw, the “vegetables” consisted of leeks and a single carrot, and the plate was swimming in a thin, watery gravy that resembled soup. A roast dinner should be comforting — this was an absolute disaster.

Fabulous 2 night stay at The Huntsman. Newly refurbished room, which was very cosy. Tasty breakfast. Great location, perfect for Forrest walks and even a trip to the Isle of White, which we did! Friendly and helpful staff, they kindly helped us with the trains and ferry as we were a little unsure. We'll be back.

We reserved a table for a family lunch at The Huntsman and were so glad we did. The seating was comfortable and well laid out, creating a really relaxed atmosphere. The kitchen clearly takes pride in what they do — the food was absolutely spot-on, full of flavour and beautifully presented. Great value for the quality, portion size, and service we received. From start to finish, everything ran smoothly, and the staff made us feel welcome and well looked after. A lovely spot for a meal in the New Forest — we’ll definitely be back!

Well what a lovely place. Staff friendly and welcoming. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Nicely decorated place. Was very busy. Reasonably priced. Had cocktails which were good. We had food, I ordered Crab burger which for me didn't work but did try. My partner had a burger which he said was good. This is situated in Brockenhurst on the main road between Lyndhurst and Lymington. Definitely would recommend and go again

We only had food and drinks here. What we had was tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. The darts and shuffleboard were a real hit with my sons and the pub was very dog friendly. The outside bar was also really convenient.

Came here with family whilst staying in Brockenhurst. The staff were very friendly from when we arrived. Got us water for the table without us having to ask. When food was coming out our server went past a couple of times and looked to make sure all had arrived. He noticed 2 were not with the others and was going to chase as the remaining dishes came. The service was quick smooth and we were not rushed at any point. Our server Joshua was great through the whole night. Highly recommend coming here. Will hopefully return before going back home. At busy times would recommend booking so as to avoid disappointment. At the end of our holiday we decided to come here for breakfast. Didn't disappoint. Would highly recommend coming for any meal time they are open. Staff all friendly and helped book when they website messed up.

Lovely atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff. Our roast dinners were tasty but served on cold plates which made food cold. Dish of horseradish sauce was cracked and contained a hair which was off-putting. Staff were apologetic and did offer us a discounted bill to compensate.

The Queen's Head is a historic pub located in the charming village of Burley, dating back to 1685 and steeped in intriguing history. It was once at the heart of the New Forest smuggling trade, as evidenced by a recently discovered secret cellar containing various treasures. Today, it offers a traditional atmosphere with original features and a tempting menu of comfort food. The pub is known for its hearty portions at reasonable prices and caters to vegetarians and vegans as well.
Review I had a fantastic experience at the Queen’s Head! The Fish and Chips and the Steak Ale Pie were absolutely amazing—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The service was impeccable; the staff were attentive and friendly, making the visit even more enjoyable. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food and experience. The pub itself is beautiful and comfortable, with a cozy atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. My only small critique would be the playlist—it didn’t quite match the otherwise wonderful ambiance. Overall, a highly recommended spot for great food and excellent service. I’ll definitely be back!

This is a lovely English style Bar/Restaurant in Burley, they had a very good menu with lots to offer, the food was very tasty and our waitress Emma made us feel right at home. Emma also recommended a lovely place to stay for the night just 5 minutes drive from the burley call the White Buck. We booked in and it looks amazing. Thank you Emma.

We popped in while driving through with our nervous dog. The garden is nice and big with plenty of seats, water for dogs etc. We had a few starters and sides for lunch and everything was tasty and very well presented. The inside of the pub is lovely with a mix of historic and modern touches!

Lovely setting in the village of Burley, beautiful inside and out with restaurant, bar and garden settings for dining. Have 2 options for main as I have a citrus fruit intolerance and often this rules out fish options which it did in this case but I was prepared with a backup, tweaks were also made to the starter to accommodate me. Korean BBQ chicken strips - how did you make them so light and flavoursome? A gap was suggested between courses which I gratefully took before an epic main was delivered, lamb shank shepherds pie, I did not anticipate the entire shank to be sticking out of the pie, but there it was and it was amazing, the cheesy mash, the devine, rich gravy base with shredded shank and then the succulent bone of meat that melted, the extra gravy was not required and I am a massive gravy fan. Seriously this was beautiful. The service was excellent, very attentive, friendly staff showing excellent attention to all guests but a special shout out to Jamie, thank you for looking after me!

Lovely food and service from Eleanor - we will be back! Well we went back for Sunday Roast and wow! Roast Rib of Beef was amazing! Jamie the landlord is a gem and one to keep hold of- Brewery take note!! So friendly, great atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble, it’s not just customer service, it’s customer care and that’s what makes a difference, by the way thanks for the Espresso Martini. Would I recommend this place…absolutely, whilst Jamie and his team are there! We’ve been coming to Burley for many years and have now found a real welcoming ‘local’ home from home.

Lovely lunch at this pub! The staff are very kind and made us feel welcome. The menu had some great options and we enjoyed our cheese toastie and steak sandwich for lunch - they even asked how we wanted the steak cooked! We sat outside in the lovely garden, and really enjoyed the birds singing. Would strongly recommend and definitely return!

The Fox & Hounds in Lyndhurst is a charming rustic-chic coaching inn that offers locally sourced menus and a cozy farmhouse cafe. It's a popular spot for both human and canine visitors exploring the New Forest, with scenic walking routes leading to this inviting establishment. The pub's interior exudes a chic yet rustic ambiance, creating a perfect blend of country charm and quality. Visitors can enjoy cask ales and fresh food while relaxing by the fire or on the sun-soaked terrace.
The food was excellent. The chips were so delicious. Great slight crunch on the outside and thick and soft inside. The schnitzel was pleasant. A slight pinch of salt would have been better, but there was salt and pepper on the table. The staff was nice. The seating area was also very nice too.

Me and my wife booked here for Sunday lunch. My wife's lamb roast was the best she ever had. It was cooked perfectly! I had the pork belly which was also cooked perfectly! Both dishes came with veg and potatoes and a massive yorkshire pudding!! There is the option of miniature deserts which came with a coffee. We thought this was a great idea as it we couldn't manage a large desert! Again delicious sticky toffee pudding and brownie. All the staff were freindly and welcoming and there was a great selection on drinks! Thank you for a great meal! 10/10 would recommend!

Amazing authentic pub. Beautiful and cozy inside with lovely antiques to look while you wait. Wasn’t expecting much from the food, but it surprised us! The fish and chips were humongous, with juicy flavourful fish. The prawn orzo was cooked to perfection, with good quality prawns and beautiful flavours coming through. Prices for drinks and food are very close to London prices, however worth their price.

This is lovely pub. Well situated and with free parking nearby after 6.00 it's an easy venue. I went to meet buoys and gulls. They are a shanty choir who were having a practice there. Furniture is lovely. Prices reasonable and it's easy to find.

We liked this pub so much that we visited twice on a weekend, for food and drinks. Great pub food choices and a really cool design. The Snakecatcher is a lively and welcoming pub that is popular among locals and visitors alike. It offers a unique dining experience where patrons can cook their choice of meat, fish, or vegetables on hot rocks right at their table. The pub features an excellent range of local drinks, delicious food menu, and hosts energetic live music events for all ages to enjoy. Additionally, it has a lovely large play area and children's menu, making it a great destination for families.
Lovely place, amazing gardens to sit in. Gorgeous food. The only reason we’ve given 4 star on service is that you have to order food at the bar and it’s quite busy then when you’ve waited for food to come they bring it out then tell you to go get your own cutlery and sauces. Which I think could have been noted at the bar when ordering so you can grab it on the way past if not depending where you are you have to walk all the way back for it. Or like every other place I’ve been they’ve brought it out for you. Decent prices for where you are and the quality.

Went in here and was busy. Waited to be served bar staff not very welcoming. Most tables were reserved, which was nice to see. Plenty of seating inside. Did find one area loud as had TV on. We managed to get a table and ordered food. My partner had what was supposed to be large fish and chips but was definitely not large. I ordered classic fish pie, well it was not nice at all it was bits salmon with mash potato, I did tell waitress but didn't seem interested, Aldi fish pie definitely better. Disappointed as wanted to try here. I wouldn't recommend but everyone has different tastes.

Nice food and pub garden, but way overpriced! I don't feel we got value for money. Camembert sharer £20, 1 small Camembert served in nice baked bread bowl but very cheap generic bread on the side (and not much of it) which greatly lets it down.

Lovely sea food sharing platter. Came out quick and hot. Cost £19.50. We sat in the beer garden behind which was lovely in the sun. Inside was clean only problem there are steps to bar and toilets so not very good if you have a wheelchair. There's a pool table and wall mounted tvs.

Nestled in the charming village of Cadnam, Sir John Barleycorn is a delightful pub that perfectly blends traditional British hospitality with an exciting fusion menu. With its inviting outdoor seating for summer and cozy oak-beamed interiors featuring log fires for winter, it offers a warm atmosphere year-round. Since its recent change in management, under landlord Hue Hars, the pub has introduced an eclectic mix of dishes that includes beloved British classics alongside tantalizing Indian, Chinese, and Nepalese options.
Excellent service. Clean, large modern looking pub on the inside and stunning country style looking on the outside. A drink selection with 3 ales I think there were. There was a British standard pub menu with kids option but also a very good Authentic Indian menu too. The best Indian I have had in years actually. I recommend the Goan Cod Curry. The rice is cooked perfectly too. Naan bread was also the best i have ever had too. Clean toilets. Family friendly. Very friendly service. Dog friendly too. Reasonably priced with good portion size too. Really worth the trip out there. I will be going back despite it being a 55 minute drive. It was quiet but then it was only 4pm so between rush periods - means you get an excellent service from the staff.

Absoloutly amazing service! Very friendly and helpful. The food was incredible, myself and my partner tried a few different dishes from the Indian menu. All freshly cooked, beautiful flavours. Best curry I've eaten. Cannot wait to return. Highly recommend.

We went for combination of a pub classic menu and Indian menu. Ordered Pan grilled Sea £18.95 bass (pub menu) and Tandoori Mixed Grill £21.95 with Peshwari (coconut) Naan £3.95 recommended by Lenny, who took very good care of us. The Sea bass was great but the Indian food was a clear winner with lots of flavour and not too spicy which I was originally afraid of. We loved the food so much we added Murg Tikka £7.95 (yoghurt marinated delicious chicken with mint sauce) as a final treat. Would have loved to try more! Great service too! Definitely recommend!

We came for some traditional British pub food, but then we saw some of the Indian plates on other table. I ordered the Tandoori Mixed Grill with Peshwari naan. It has been a great choice. Minced lamb, lamb chops, chicken, prawns and onions, all was exquisite. We ordered another serving of tandoori chicken instead of the dessert. Service was fast, cordial and friendly. Leni was our host, he helped us in the choice and suggested a restaurant to try in London.

Beautiful thatched roof pub/restaurant, essentially serving Indian dishes. We were a party of 56 people, on a daytrip to the New Forest. We had booked one of the 2 restaurant room and the whole experience has been very positive. Everyone enjoyed their meal and an exceptionally efficient and courteous staff. The owner, who seems to be also the chef is extremely helpful and pleasant. I am more than happy to recommend the place.

A great pub and restaurant in the middle of The New Forest. We visited over the Bank Holiday, it was busy. But the staff were attentive and cheerful - they brought out food and drinks to our table to save us having to cue. You can order from the table. It was lovely to sit in the sun and enjoy the forest. There’s a play area for the kids, plenty of parking, great walks and even somewhere to park your horse! :) Thoroughly recommend a visit, we’ll be back.

What an amazing experience. Before we even arrived we received a very courteous phone call to offer extra directions! Communication was 100% throughout from that point. You go down a gravel track and may think you are lost - do not fear, the pub appears, surrounded by horses and nested in the forest. They have a large garden that must have over 500 seats, yet it’s quiet and you can hear the birds and the nature. Food was outstanding, far better than we expected and while they were very busy I can’t fault the service. Room was amazing with a deep bath and very comfortable bedding. All the small touches just make it very unique. The staff know what they are doing and we could witness a very involved manager teaching a clearly seasonal staff member how to hold plates with such patience she must be a saint. Can’t wait to be back - definitely for a longer stay.

I booked for Sunday, with my dearest and our dog Harry. It was simply delightful, from the warm welcome we received. This was matched by our Sunday roast and puddings. The service was excellent, along with a recommendation to pick the cauliflower cheese with our meal, which was a great pick. It really is worth the journey off the beaten track. We will return this week before we go home. Thanks again.

Me and my boyfriend popped in this afternoon for a quick bite to eat and a drink, the staff gave incredible service and went out of their way for our needs (my needs really, I was fussy about a coffee), if it was me I'd have said we don't have any takeaway cups, but nope, went to the otherside of the building just to get me a coffee. They really went above and beyond, everything was clean and tidy and was cute seeing wild pigs in the garden and horses in the car park, and there is a cute little walk nearby where you can see all sorts of animals. Will definitely be back and recommend to everyone!!

Nestled in the charming village of Pilley, just a stone's throw from Lymington, the Fleur De Lys stands as a historic gem and is celebrated as the oldest pub in the New Forest. With its stunning facade and rich heritage dating back to 1096, this award-winning establishment offers visitors an authentic experience steeped in tradition.
We visited for the first time for a birthday celebration on 28/10/23. The food was superb. Portion sizes were very generous. The service was great. And it was a lovely atmosphere. The only drawback, was the wood fire which irritated our eyes. But apart from this, the waiter and chef were extremely attentive, courteous and very kind. All we can say is, this is a fantastic place to go for a great meal with friends and family. Thank you for making my birthday meal a memorable occasion with my wonderful friends.

Very old world traditional pub set in the heart of the New Forest. Well you'd expect that from a place that can trace its history back to 1096. Food is good using fresh ingredients and some nice quality touches. Presentation is modern and neat. The beef Wellington looked good and was very popular. Good desert selection with some very traditional options.

Dating from 1096, this great pub, with a fantastic menu, was originally under the control of the local monks. Historically important, the Grade 1 listed building has been preserved for our pleasure. Out of the way, on a small country lane and village. Nice selection of beers, it is in contention to be the oldest licenced estabishment in England. Great chat with the landlord, and skilled chef, Steve who knows so much more. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Friendly staff.

Lovely little pub with great history. Very warm welcome from all staff. The atmosphere was lovely and country-esk. They accepted dogs which was fab. The food was absolutely beautiful, faultless and served timely and with carefully thought about presentation. We had the Monkfish Scampi and Salt and Pepper squid, both superb. For mains we had Halibut in a lobster bisque, and the Chicken and Ham hock pie - full of flavour from start to finish. To end we shared the sticky toffee pudding which was topped with delicious honey comb. We even had the chef and owner come out and chat with us which was such a lovely touch. Wonderful experience, will definitely be back when we’re next in the area!

The pub is traditional and we stayed in a room above the entrance which made us feel like we were in a little lighthouse with the views. Excellent location for the village, food was fab and the price very reasonable. So glad we stayed here!

Whilst on a break I was taken to this location for a meal as a treat as I about to become a Chelsea Pensioner. Parking great. Welcoming..great...service good Food..terrible. the vegetables looked nice but were done in the new style..uncooked. I commented and the staff took it away for fresh veg. 30min later my partner had finished theirs. I went asked how long mine would be? The reply was 'in a minute' it came and the veg was still hard We left having paid the full price with no offer of an option etc.Terrible. Fri 20june 1458 3 meals one edible. POOR

Lovely pub in a small village with ponies waiting outside. Good outdoor seating area, with plenty of seat available when we got there at lunch time. We ordered 3 ploughman’s and a jacket Potato. Food overall nice, simple pub grub. We would return if we was in the area.

Nice pub / hotel set in the heart of the village. Great food and parking. Cannot comment on the hotel rooms as only enjoy a delious meal here, one on Sunday offered a roast, and a weekday for an evening meal. Both visits good food well cooked very friendly and accommodating.

Simply put, excellent proper food, engaging attentive and friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Great location and drinks selection. Miles better than Burley Manor where we had stayed for over double the price.

Bartender was great when we popped in for a pint, friendly atmosphere. Did a 4 mile walk and was looking forward to a nice roast. Same Bartender, straight to a nice table. However once we sat down, we were ignored for 10 minutes, even after we tried to catch the staffs eye. Then a group of 4 came in, sat down and was served immediately. Not happy and promptly got up and left. Very disappointing as we thought that would round the day up. Went do pub over the road (Queens head) and was served immediately.

We had a table of 16 and was put in a nice area of the pub to cater for this. The meal portions for Starters, mains and dessert were all huge. So tasty too. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Lovely warm welcome. Service was great and food was really good value. Only flaw was the onion rings, or was like having a mouthful of grease. Gammon was really tasty. Cordon bleu chicken very tender Fish and chips were great Liver was tender and tasty. Recommended

Very much enjoyed my visit here. Was a Friday night so busier than usual, still enough seating though. Had a couple of very well priced pints and the nachos which were a great size.

We have been to The Ship Inn numerous times over the years - it's one of those pubs that you wouldn't realise it was there unless your going past it. Food has always been pretty good, and the staff always seem cheerful and pleasant. It's a little rough around the edges in places, eg. The function room feels like your going through the serviceman entrance in the car park!

We had a wonderful experience at The Ship, after being turned away at two other pubs due to being full. We headed over to the Ship, although it was late on a Wednesday we were welcomed and quickly seated. We had the friendliest person serve, who went above and beyond and had a great sense of humour and customer service. I had the ship burger as did my daughter, the tastiest homemade and cooked burger I’ve ever had. Be warned the portions are large. The deserts looked so good that we couldn’t not try them and they were delicious too! Would highly recommend.

First visit on recommendation and will definitely go again. The food was good, plentiful with a varied choice to suit all palates. The place is big, nicely decorated with a good atmosphere. In particular, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful at all times, including when we left.

We would like to thank Alison and the team for what they have done for us on our wedding day. The marquee was beautifully set up, and the food was also at a very high standard. Communication with Alison in the build-up to the big day was exceptional, and we can't thank her enough for that... I highly recommend that people use the ship for any events, and i promise you won't be disappointed. We will also be using to marquee for future events

East End Arms is a charming rural pub in Lymington, England, offering comfortable rooms with free Wi-Fi and cooked breakfast. The establishment also features a stylish restaurant serving hearty country dishes. Owned by former Dire Straits bassist John Ilsley since 1990, the pub has a traditional old side favored by locals and an upmarket restaurant run by renowned chef Mark Davidson.
Could not have wished for a better stay at the East End Arms, I was made to feel at home. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the accommodation was perfect with everything that I wanted. The food was very good and they have a good choice of all courses, I have now been here four years on the trot and already looking forward to making it five next year, thank you all.

The room was lovely, clean with everything you need. Looked out on the road which wasn't a problem for us but it is a pub so can hear people sitting outside until about 11. Staff lovely and helpful. Lovely location. Disappointed with the dinner so only ate there once

Cracking pub. Mostly locals in the bar. Happy to chat. Decent restaurant with reasonable choice. Wife's steak was perfect (in her top2 ever). My meal a bit mher. Not pub grub and not pub grub prices. But on the whole worth it.

We have just completed a stay at the very lovely East End Arms. It is wonderful place to stay. We did have a couple of problems which were out of everyone's control but the joy of excellent customer service is how these things are handled. The staff were calm, attentive and absolutely went over and above to help us and to ensure we were happy and comfortable. In fact it was the best customer service I have encountered when things just haven't gone as they should. You should be very proud. Thank you

Good was quite over salted. They didn’t have all items available on menu. Staff were forgetful. Aside from that it’s a lovely pub, great location and cute terrace. I’d still come back!

The best fish n chips I have ever had! Delicious. Lovely environment. Delicious food. Excellent staff. Professional, but friendly. I'll be back there again.

We were visiting this area from the south east and having spent the afternoon on the beach deciding to walk over a mile to go to the East End. We were in desperate need of something to eat, anything would have done, and arriving 15 minutes before the kitchen close we thought we could at least order some chip. But no! We were greeted by a very unfriendly bartender that only offered us her pearls of wisdom, by saying get a cab to Limington or walk an hour to the nearest pub. I’m glad we are more friendly where we live. Obviously living in the new forest doesn’t give you good customer service, or you take so much money you can turn away trade. We won’t be back!

Thank goodness Jason is back in the Fordingbridge area, after a couple years away after leaving the Horse and Groom, he is back at The Three Lions with a great menu and delicious food. We had a lovely Sunday Lunch and certainly will be coming again.

Came here for Sunday lunch two years ago and it was absolutely delicious with an amazing cranberry gravy and we’ve been wanting to come back ever since. Came again today and it was a bit of a let down in comparison. I had the confit duck which was actually very good but my partners said his roast was a bit “school dinner” sad especially for £20. Service however was very good and the setting lovely. Maybe was an off day or they have a new chef. Overall mixed feelings.

As always the service and food was excellent. The menu range is great there’s a lot of variety to choose from. Equally the prices are very competitive for all the pubs around the area. If you’re after bbq ribs this is the place you won’t regret it. For the Gluten free people including me they have a range of food that’s all marked (GF) so if you’re planning a visit it’s a lovely pub to visit and have a drink and eat thanks to Jason and his team.

A sleep over stop on our family trip to Cornwall. Jason and the team are wonderful, our room was so well equipped and had everything we needed, so spacious in Willow room. Good food and drink all lovely and wow the breakfast was unreal with top quality ingredients and included. Best coffee too! We will return another time to visit New Hampshire National Park and stay here. Wild horses nearby and donkeys. Lovely interior in the pub. You must book! Special shout out to Abi on service, accommodating and kind.

We stayed for two nights in one of the rooms with a hot tub, luckily we decided to go for the hot tub as my wife had an accident just before our trip & was using crutches & these rooms are easily accessible, sadly she couldnt use the hot tub but i could 😅 The Three Lions is a lovely venue, plenty of parking, lovely grounds around the buildings with plenty of outside seating, our room was nice, clean & tidy & the small private decking area with seating & a hot tub was lovely to be out in & listen to the birds. We had breakfast & dinner both days at The Three Lions & the food was amazing, i couldnt fault any of it, well presented & just cooked perfectly, the staff were all professional, friendly & helpful, always welcoming & making sure we had everything we needed & that we were happy with the food. We were very happy with our stay at The Three Lions & we are already planning another visit to The New Forest next year & we will definitely be considering staying at The Three Lions again, thank you to all the staff for making our stay absolutely faultless.

The Filly Inn, located in Brockenhurst, is a charming 16th-century country inn that has been lovingly restored. It offers a cosy and traditional pub atmosphere with a modern twist. The inn provides an idyllic hideaway for lovers of the outdoors, as it is set against the majestic backdrop of the New Forest and offers great sea views of The Solent.
A Truly Exceptional Weekend at The Filly Inn Our recent Friday to Sunday stay at The Filly Inn was nothing short of fantastic, and we departed feeling incredibly relaxed and well-cared for. From the moment we arrived, the entire team made us feel truly welcome, and their dedication to hospitality shone through in every detail. The rooms were wonderfully comfortable, offering a perfect haven after a day of exploring. We particularly appreciated the thoughtful touches – the luxurious products provided and the delightful fresh cookies awaiting us in our room were a lovely surprise and indicative of the Inn's attention to guest comfort. The food was, quite simply, incredible. We ended up dining at the Inn two nights in a row, a testament to the consistently delicious and expertly prepared dishes. Complementing the superb cuisine was an equally impressive wine selection, offering something for every palate. There was even live music on Sunday afternoon providing the perfect end to our weekend. While every member of the team contributed to our wonderful experience, we must extend a special mention to Martyn, Lauren, and Alex. Their professionalism, warmth, and genuine desire to ensure we had a perfect stay were evident throughout. Martyn, in particular, went above and beyond, making us feel genuinely valued guests. His exceptional service truly made our visit extra special and memorable. The Filly Inn offers a perfect blend of comfort, delicious food, and outstanding service. We wholeheartedly recommend it and can't wait to return.

On arrival the staff were very helpful and asked if we would prefer to sit inside or outside. We sat inside, which was nice as we had our dog with us and some places prefer you sit outside if you bring a dog. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. The food was delicious and well presented. It was also reasonably prized. The whole experience was enjoyable and the dog loved his ice cream.

Brilliant two night stay at Filly Inn for a weekend away with my son and small group ahead of his wedding. Great location for exploring the area and enjoying various activities. Breakfast was great and we really enjoyed our evening meal. Fantastic! Thanks to all at The Filly Inn

Nice spot on the main road between Brockenhurst and Lymington. Interior and garden are all very nicely done. Staff were all lovely and very good with our son’s nut allergy. Kids meals were lovely and decent portions. Overall adult portions are on the small side and prices on the high side. Steak pies were very tasty. A couple of us ordered steak which was very over priced for what turned up, a small thin steak (perhaps the one from the cheaper lunch menu) with fries etc for £30 felt poor value. Overall worth a visit just pick with care from the menu.

Absolutely fantastic place to visit. Excellent service to table and in a group this is priceless. Lovely looking pub outside and in along side being practical for older and disabled customers-lots of parking with space. We had a lovely meal and drinks and I would highly recommend to anyone I know. Excellent place that I will go to as a destination rather than a stop off next time. Lovely spot to visit the New Forest or Solent!

Great venue and friendly and helpful welcome. We both had the beer battered fish and chips. We are more used to twice baked chips in good pubs but not here. The fish was ok, not particularly large so 6 out of 10 on the food front. There was a minimal vegetarian options on the menu. The gratuity was voluntary but was either 12.5% or nil so not any flexi to on this.

We went for lunch with the family at The Woodfalls Inn, a new place for us to try. It did not disappoint. We had a fussy group, but the menu and the staff were absolutely accommodating and catered for our needs. Fish n Chips, burgers, and Ham Egg And Chip, were some of the meals we had. All delicious. The staff were fabulous. Friendly, professional, and had a great balance of checking in on us and leaving us to enjoy. We did have one small issue with a burger, but once addressed, the staff immediately rectified it and amended the bill as a gesture of good will, which was unexpected yet welcome. Great customer service.

Leaving a review based on the incredible breakfast. Everything was perfect, and I’ve had a lot of breakfasts. Stuff you don’t normally find, everything super hot, perfectly cooked, crispy and massive! The quality of it all was great too, even the buttery mushrooms. Sometimes you go to an expensive place for breakfast and it’s nowhere near this, reasonably priced here too. Service also great. Thanks.

The Mayflower Theatre, established in 1928, is a prominent cultural hub in the South of England. It has showcased a wide array of performances including musicals, opera, ballet, and comedy shows. The theatre's rich history includes hosting iconic bands like The Beatles and The Hollys. Housed in a charming grade two listed building, the theatre offers an enchanting setting for an entertaining evening suitable for all ages.
About Ghost Musical The musical Ghost is a spectacular adaptation of the classic 90s film, successfully bringing all the emotion and magic of the original story to the stage. One of the production's greatest highlights is the special effects, which amaze the audience by bringing iconic scenes to life, such as ghosts passing through walls. The set design also deserves high praise, as it is dynamic and well-planned, allowing for quick scene changes without compromising the flow of the narrative. The transition between scenes happens naturally and harmoniously, providing complete immersion in the plot. Furthermore, the engaging soundtrack enhances the emotional atmosphere of the show, making each moment even more remarkable. The actors' performances are another strong point of the production. The lead couple has convincing chemistry, making the audience connect with and be moved by their story. Special mention should also be made of the supporting characters, who bring energy and humor to the show, ensuring a balance between drama and good laughs. The adaptation of the story for the theater was done intelligently. The scenes were well-adjusted for the stage. However, one negative aspect worth mentioning is the portrayal of the main character's murderer as Latin American. This detail may reinforce negative stereotypes and fuel prejudice against immigrants, which is an unfortunate choice in a society that already faces challenges related to discrimination. Despite this drawback, Ghost is an emotional and technically impressive musical that is well worth watching.

I've now seen 2 shows at the Mayflower theatre and I've been very impressed! Both views, although different, have been unrestricted and have given a good view of the stage. There is always a good selection of shows here and it is a good distance from the train station and a couple of car parks

We travelled down to Southampton to attend a recording of ‘Sorry, I haven’t a Clue, last night at The Mayflower Theatre and had a brilliant evening. As expected, the show was very funny….but I was most impressed with the theatre itself. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the theatre is beautiful, and the prices of the refreshments was so reasonable. There’s no need to try to smuggle sweets in when they sell two bags for £6. The lovely coffee was £3, so cheaper than my local coffee shop. I wish I was local….. I’d be here every week. Thank you all so much for a fabulous evening.

First time at the mayflower, lovely old theatre , staff were really nice too. However the security who did the bag search was very brusque, he barked at me "bag search" as I'm older and the traffic was busy I didn't quite hear. He then barked again , just a suggestion but a more pleasant attitude would be good. The only thing I struggled with was the toilets , old building very small toilets but that can't be helped . The production of mama mia was brilliant can highly recommend it. Would have given 5 stars apart from the security person

Food was great and the service wasn't too bad either!! The only thing that drops the star is that we were told that you would be sorting out a birthdy brownie as it was my wife's 50th birthday. I believe Hannah was in contact with my brother and thats what she said would happen. We got the bill and we were charged for her birthday dessert (she opted for tbe tiramisu). That's one of the reasons we didn't pay the service charge. We shouldn't have had to remind anyone. Also, my brother was advised that there would be a birthday message on one of the boards and something on the table, but there wasnt! If you say you're going to make an occasion special, please follow through with it. Other than that, great atmosphere and great food!!

The food was delicious and freshly prepared, and I really enjoyed the flavors. However, I was disappointed with the service when it came to the bill. I ordered a small portion, but I was charged for a medium one. When I mentioned this to the staff, both waitresses insisted that this was normal and did not make any effort to correct the mistake or even apologize. Unfortunately, this left a bad impression and spoiled an otherwise nice dining experience.

With its elegant ambiance and delectable dishes, The Elderflower Restaurant is a must-visit destination for those seeking an exceptional culinary experience in the area.
Visited The Elderflower to try the 7 course (yes, 7 course) tasting menu, and I must say it was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Every dish was incredible, but not large enough to make you feel like a stuffed pig by the end. The wine was matched perfectly to each dish and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Easily one of the best restaurant meals I've ever tasted, just superb.

I’m always impressed by the quality and creativity of the food here. The chef’s talent shines through in every dish, with flavours and presentation that are consistently imaginative and beautifully balanced. I’m a big fan of tasting menus, and this one easily holds its own against several Michelin star experiences I’ve had. Not knowing what’s coming next, and having each course introduced as it arrives, really adds to the sense of occasion. It’s also great to see a place investing in future talent—the energy and enthusiasm from the team is infectious. Our waiter was genuinely thrilled when we complimented the bread—he couldn't hold back that he’d made it himself that morning. Just a heads-up: tips are cash only, so it's worth bringing some along to avoid getting caught out. I can't wait to be back, if only I could fit in more than once a year.

My wife and I ate at the Elderflower in Lymington and had the 3 course lunch menu. It was a delightful meal at a reasonable price. The freshly baked bread was such a lovely way to start, along with the bouquet garni butter which was very moreish. We had an oyster each, which we didn't regret! We've never had a better Oyster, and the flavour pairing of jalepeno and honey worked so well. We had the starters of duck salad and cuttlefish, which was pleasant. The main course was the highlight, the mixed grill of seafood was awesome, and the smoky charred flavour was addictive! The desserts were brilliant, especially since it was my first soufflé ever! So delicious. Thanks to Keane and the rest of the team at the Elderflower for a lovely lunch.

I ordered a takeaway Mixed Fish Grill with potatoes for £25 from The Elderflower Restaurant In Lymington, expecting a decent portion and quality for the price. Although the restaurant staff were nice the food experience was a letdown. First of all, the portion size was shockingly small for a £25 meal — it felt more like a starter than a main course. To make matters worse, instead of the potatoes I ordered, I received plain noodles, which made no sense. For a dish that’s marketed as a premium option, this felt lazy and overpriced. I definitely won’t be ordering from here again. There are plenty of places that offer better quality and value for money. Very disappointing.

A "10 minute wait" for takeaway fish & chips turned into a 35 minute wait, orders came out in waves and for the last 2 portions we were informed that they'd run out of chips and they were now coming fries (looked like the type ovened from a frozen bag). If I had known in advance I wouldve chosen a different venue for our lunch. The standard dining-in experience may have been given the AA 3 Rosettes, but the takeaway option sadly doesn't live up to that grading at all. Communication of expected delays in advance and knowing stock levels could be improved significantly. From what we saw whilst ordering, the quality of food being carried to tables inside looked great. A last tip if ordering the takeaway is to check your order by opening the box before leaving to confirm that you have salt and vinegar on, as they didn't add any to mine despite confirming it at the counter. Not worth £16.50, grab a sandwich from the store opposite, save yourself £10 to use on a flapjack, coffee and 30 minutes of your holiday.

A wonderful full on experience. I chose the KF Fish wings as my starter. This chef must be mad to come up with the idea of fish wings KFC style. It’s so hard to eat without getting frustrated by a bone here or there; but it is soooo worth it. A totally tasty, barking mad, delicious starter. Being a Friday I followed by posh fish n chips. It’s just what to expect from an excellent restaurant. Spot on. To finish Rasberry soufflé. An amazing and incredible desert. It’s a must visit restaurant.

This is fine dining restaurant, but we felt a little disappointed. The duck salad was tasty but didn't seem to have any meat and was what seemed to be duck skin scratchings. The seafood mixed grill was more stew like and the fish was a bit over cooked. The raspberry soufflé was the star dish and quite brilliant.
Richard R — Google review
We chose the four course tasting menu with accompanying wine flight. What a revelation! The whole evening was perfect in every way. Yes, it was expensive, but quality and inventiveness costs - and this evening had the best of both. Great venue for that special treat. I won’t post pictures as that would spoil the surprise of the tasting menu, but each course looked and tasted incredible.

The George is a charming riverside gastropub located in the heart of Fordingbridge, offering picturesque views of the town's iconic Great Bridge. This historic inn, dating back to the 18th century, serves as a traditional yet modern dining destination with a focus on locally sourced ingredients and an ever-changing British menu. The venue is open for food all day, featuring classic pub dishes alongside innovative twists on traditional favorites.
Can't fault this place, best pub! From the moment you walk in, there is a lovely warm welcome. All the staff are attentive and friendly, and go the extra as standard. We had tapas menu, and 4 dishes between the 2 of us filled us up nicely and were delicious, along with the cockatils!

This place I've often drove past and always wanted to see what it was like and I finally took the opportunity on mother's weekend, and I was not disappointed. On entry the staff were immediately dealing with us and made us comfortable. They offer a stunning setting and fantastic menu. All the staff are exceptional to interact with and I would highly recommend this place.

Had to visit Fordingbridge to see a client and finished my meeting at lunchtime this Sunday so I asked ChatGPT for a referral Their choice was The George and by George they were right 🤩 Lovely old pub by the Avon next to a beautiful old bridge Friendly and attentive staff and first rate food First impressions it must be good because it’s busy ,that’s always a good sign. The person behind the bar greeting me when I walked in. Clean orderly and atmospheric. I had the tempura prawns with Rocket and cherry tomato salad to start . I chose a nice table on the outside patio with a beautiful view of the river Avon they bought me a nice pint of Old Speckled Hen real ale while I decided on my main course of belly pork with traditional vegetables and roasted potatoes Veg was fresh cooked and nice and crunchy The belly pork was rolled with a good layer of nice crackling around the outside It was very nice indeed a good balance of fat and flesh I chose Pannacotta for dessert and though it was a small portion it was home cooked and delicious. I can highly recommend this establishment and compliment the owners and all the staff on an excellent performance It’s reasonably priced as well Full marks

A truly disappointing lunch experience. The George is in a lovely situation beside the River Avon and close to the historic bridge. Shame about the food. Trout paté had a sticky consistency, it was bland and did not taste of trout, nor indeed of anything much. It was served with a couple of slices of slightly stale bread. Tomato soup with basil sounded enticing, but when it eventually arrived it was a yellow soup. On asking we were told the kitchen had run out of tomato soup so we had been given a mixed vegetable soup. There was no apology for the substitution, nor had there been any check beforehand that we were happy to have this different soup. The 'Korean bowl' had a base of sticky rice which seemed to have been fried into glutinous lumps. This was topped with a mince mixture that included bits of explosive chilli flavour. Quite weird: one mouthful was not spicy, the next unpleasantly hot. Service was leisurely. After waiting about 30 minutes we asked a passing waiter if our order had been forgotten. We were assured not, there was a 40 minute wait because they were so busy (it seemed about half full to me). The food eventually arrived about 35 minutes after ordering, and our second course arrived after another 35 minutes. (Heard in passing: someone complained about being served food on a dirty plate. The waiter was told the way to deal with this was to return it to the kitchen, wash the plate, then put the food back on it to give it back to the customer. Not the best approach, in my opinion.) Although served in a pub in a lovely setting, this was of the worst meals it's been my misfortune to experience. Stick to crisps if you go.

The George in Fordingbridge is a charming riverside eatery that captures the essence of quaint dining with a creative twist. The interior decor is not just visually appealing but also whimsically adorned with amusing signs and quotes that lend a lighthearted, humorous vibe to the place. This establishment also boasts a unique garden area featuring cozy booths and a small vegetable garden, complemented by an engaging souvenir shop that adds to its allure. While The George exudes a delightful atmosphere, it could benefit from a slight refresh to maintain its appeal, especially as it gears up for the new season. The staff are notably friendly and considerate; however, implementing a standard uniform could enhance the overall professionalism and prestige of the venue. The food, while generally pleasing, could use minor adjustments in portion sizes to perfect the dining experience. These constructive suggestions aside, The George offers a creatively decorated and enjoyable environment. The ambiance, especially in the evening, is particularly enchanting in the garden area, making it a must-visit spot for both locals and tourists seeking a memorable dining experience. Overall, The George is a fantastic venue that promises a delightful visit.

We organised a birthday meal for 14 people last Saturday lunchtime at the Trusty Servant. Communication was great from the time of booking and on the actually day we could not fault it. The food was great, everyone enjoyed it. Above all the service level and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was absolutely brilliant. All the team were super helpful and accommodating. The pub is in a great location and there were ponies and pigs right outside on the village green. Would definitely recommend.

Visited 11th September 2025 for lunch and was not disappointed. The staff were very welcoming and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. Being a vegetarian, there was a good selection to choose from. Ordered the spring vegetable burger, (don't normally pick a veggie burger), very flavoursome, you could see the different vegetables rather than just mush that you tend to get in other places, followed by a very generous and gorgeous white chocolate cheesecake. Very reasonably priced for such delicious food. Will definitely be returning when next visiting the New Forest.

We stayed for two nights for peppa pig world the food was absolutely amazing so much choice but on the pricey side.. also the drink prices over 3 pounds for a fruit shoot and 13 pounds for a large wine ?! The rooms were lovely with the best breakfast included , the location is so peaceful and quiet. The rooms were cleaned which was amazing for a short duration. The bed was super comfy too! I would return but will bring my own fruit shoots and wine haha Food pictures included

Very quiet on a weekday lunchtime. Very dog friendly in the bar and restaurant, we chose the comfortable bar. The dog biscuits went down very well with our furry friend. Flacks beers and Somerly cider were very nice. Haddock and chips was possibly the finest fish I've had, truly crispy beer batter and a lovely piece of fish. The full Monty burger was very good too.

Good beer and an excellent wine menu make for a good start. The food was comforting and delicious; simple and wholesome but well executed. The staff were friendly and prompt. But be aware that their food service isn't all day - I think they only serve lunch until 1430 for instance and we only just arrived in time. The decor was light and had the ceiling been higher I might even have called it airy, but something about the place felt bleak, and I don't think it was just because we were the only people in there.

It's been at least a couple of years since mum and I visited Monty's, which is part of Montague Hotel and Restaurant, Beaulieu. At that time there was a bar menu and we each had a sandwich and a pint, the place was lively and we enjoyed ourselves despite noisy children. Our return visit was awful. We walked into the bar area and no staff (the barman was changing a barrel but this wasn't relayed to us when I went to the restaurant side to find a member of staff). Lifeless and souless. The customers comprised a family with a noisy barking dog who thankfully left and a chap sat by the fire. I asked for a bar menu and the reply was "we don't have one but we have a restaurant menu". I scanned it and thought at nearly £30 per dish for a main course....no thank you. I went back to the bar area and mum spotted that there was 'soup of the day' being advertised which was being served with a toastie (mum would have the soup and I would have the toasty). I then ordered 2 halfs of Flack Manor's Romsey Gold. I set up a tab and the 2 halfs came to £7... you do the per-pint maths. Far too expensive, even by London prices and this is only 4% ABV. Even Molson Coors Blue Moon 5.4% is only £6.80 in establishments near to this place, and is of far superior quality. The few (and young) staff present needed more experience in working in a bar and being able to offer banter with customers and the lack of any atmosphere caused me to cancelled our food order, pay for our drinks and leave. It was the first time I have ever cancelled a food order in my life. I'm unsure who owns this place and whether it is part of Lord Montague's empire. If you're wanting an up-market meal then yes, this would be perfect, eating in the restaurant. But for what should be a lively bar with its own menu then please don't bother. You will be disappointed. This place has so much potential but is desperately lacking personality. Maybe it relies to much on its location, the seasonal tourists and the fact that there is no other bar in the village. Running a bar with hotel and restaurant staff doesn't work.

Thoroughly enjoyed dinner here. The staff were fantastic - friendly, helpful, just the right level of attentive. The food was great - huge fish and chips! Properly dog-friendly too - dog bed set up ready for her, along with complimentary treats on a plate for her. Love their 'a la bark' menu, too.

Disappointing experience — poor service and unwelcoming attitude We had high hopes for our lunch at The Monty, having booked well in advance for a relaxed family meal. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. Despite the early booking, we were offered a table right in front of the bathroom door, with no alternative suggested. We asked to sit outside instead, but the table there was unclean and covered in cigarette ashes. Still, it felt like the better option — even if it meant eating next to a busy road. We ordered promptly: wine, a shared starter, and mains for both children and adults (burgers and fish & chips). While the drinks and starter arrived fairly quickly, we then waited 45 minutes for the main courses, with no update or explanation. After asking twice — and only after mentioning we might leave — the food finally arrived. It was decent, but by then the tone of the meal had shifted. When I politely asked why the delay, the staff member responded with defensiveness and attitude. I was told the wait was “perfectly normal,” then that there was only one chef for two kitchens, and finally — quite unbelievably — that it was our fault for ordering a starter. I was also made to feel as if we were complaining to avoid paying, which was frankly inappropriate. We were told the drinks would be removed from the bill, but only the service charge was waived, with no clear explanation. The food was acceptable, but the poor service, lack of basic hospitality, and unpleasant attitude left a sour impression. We will not be returning.

Inexplicably cold and tasteless Sunday roast in a sparsely decorated cavernous room devoid of character or atmosphere. Staff seemed to try but this is one to avoid, particularly at £30 for a main course. No doubt summer tourists fall prey to the surroundings but there is a poor offering considering what it could be with some effort and enthusiasm. Better alternatives can be found nearby.

Lovely little find. We had not booked as were visiting Lymington for the weekend. Got a table without a problem, and ordered food and drink. Great wine and beer selection. Staff was excellent and friendly. Beautiful old pub, full of character, serving amazing food, big portions. Food was excellent value for money. We have chosen food from Special Menu. I have chosen homemade chicken liver and white truffle pate, my partner crab, crayfish, lime and coriander bon bons in Thai red coconut sauce. As mains I had supreme chicken and sun dried tomato, three cheese risotto from Special Menu. My partner had homemade steak pie from main menu. He did mention that it was little bit tasteless, but otherwise really good, full of meat. I have to say this was one of the nicest pub lunches I’ve had very long time, and I do love food. Would recommend if you are visiting Lymington.

Food was very good, burger absolutely delicious. Everyone at the table said the food was great. However the service let this pub down, 2 waiters working on a Friday evening and you could see they were struggling. 30 mins for the starter to arrive and another 30 mins to have our plates cleared, pub wasn’t full either. Certainly not good for morale when the owner is sat at the bar drinking pints whilst his staff are working their a*se off! Real shame

The Rising Sun is a welcoming pub situated in the countryside. The menu features classic pub favourites such as pies and burgers alongside lighter bites, making it perfect for all tastes. There is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy with dedicated play areas for children and adults, making it a great place to spend a summer evening.
We had a lovely Bank Holiday afternoon at The Rising Sun. The welcome was friendly and the service was great, a special mention to Sally, who looked after us! They have three areas that you can sit, the restaurant and have table service, or the lovely garden with large playground or in the bar area. If you choose the garden or bar you need to order your food at the bar, the restaurant is table service. There is also an opportunity to have pizzas cooked from their outside pizza oven! The menu was good. I only gave four stars for food as we thought the burger was a little over priced! As you see from my previous posts my son does like his burgers! The fish & scampi were delicious 😋

Great location. Lovely pub great park outside for young kids and horses walking wild, parking was ample enough. Service was quite slow, although very busy. Coffee was nice and we had a jug of water for the table. We ordered from the set menu with mushrooms on toast and I had fish and chips, which was pretty good, fish was cooked beautifully. My wife had cauliflower in batter and Teriyaki sauce, very strange, didn't really work and was too heavy. You can take a look at the pics. Also, a little expensive for what we had.

We love this pub. Everytime we visit the new forest we stop in. Great play area for the kids, food is delicious and service is great. It's a little pricey but it's a small indulgence we allow ourselves on our houldyas. If you're lucky enough you'll be joined by some horses in the carpark.

We have decided to come to The Rising Sun for lunch as it has nice reviews and we can say the same. It is situated in the New Forest by itself with a large car park. The building is huge and pretty as the outside space with a space for the children to play and different ambience where to eat. Inside it is a formal and an informal room, the restaurant or the pub and outside there are different levels and terraced floors with tables and chairs. You can choose to be by the shade, under a tree or anywhere about. The food is ordered at the till and they promptly serve the food. There are lots of waitresses and the service is very good. We ordered a Sunday roast and it was very nice. We really enjoyed it. Fresh vegetables and no frying food. The portion was good and the flavour excellent. We also ordered a starter of pate which came with just one slice of bread and I think for the price, one more slice would be better. We just had coke to drink, it was a large glass served with ice. A very relaxing place full of people but everyone was enjoying their time there.

The tour lasts around two hours and concludes with a tutored tasting session and a complimentary drink.
Great tour, very charismatic and likeable. Good beers and everyone seemed to find something they liked even the baby! Lots to see and definitely one for wet windy day, maybe not ideal on a hot summers one! (Warm in some of the rooms)

What a fantastic experience! Some brewery tours feel like just a tourist attraction, but Ringwood Brewery is the authentic real deal. We tasted the malted hops and how the 'chocolate malt' was discovered - and so much more about the history of ale in general. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to learn more about the art of brewing, or anyone who just likes beer in general!

Love popping in and stocking up on beer. Great way to spend a lunch break. Fairly priced without a loyalty card, really good if you are a member It's a real shame that the tours don't happen any more. Hopefully some new owners will reinstate this. Always feel a bit cheeky going in and only buying the non Ringwood beers, bring back the XXXX Porter or the original strength Old Thumper, in my view those were head and shoulders above the other Ringwood branded beers.

My first tour here, and it was awesome! I really enjoyed how their beer was made. I wanted to take a picture of inside, but I wasn't sure if it was allowed. I didn't wanna risk it so I chose not to. But at least I got to try the free beers, that's a plus!👍 Finest beers I have tried. 🍺

£12/adult for the tour including free half pint jug glass and beer samples. You can pull your own half pint at the bar. Plenty if samples along with an entertaining and informative tour. Gift shop too. Those that have paid for the tour can have a discount on 'll goods.

Excellent value for money and a brilliant brewery tour experience. We were given a glass of Razorback beer on arrival and briefed on the history of the brewery whilst we enjoyed the drink. This was followed by a very informative and interesting tour which concluded back at the bar where we enjoyed sampling the other Ringwood beers. We were given the chance to be photographed behind the bar and to try pulling our own beer. The tour ended with us keeping the glasses we had been using and a bottle of beer to take away with us. All in all a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon. I would certainly recommend this tour to anyone, my wife doesn't normally enjoy beer but she enjoyed sampling the different types of Ringwood beer, learning about the history of the brewery, it's beers and the tour itself.

An Absolutely Fantastic Evening in the Restaurant whilst staying at Carey Manor Hotels. The Onion Soup and Mushroom starters were delicious! Also not forgetting the very tasty Chicken main course! The Staff here are also brilliant and one of the guys serving is very funny and kept making us laugh! 5 Star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Plus Rating!

Fancied an onion soup in the UK for a while now, this one did not disappoint! We've had a soup and king prawns for starters, monkfish tail and lamb chops for mains and shared a Pavlova for dessert. The soup was exceptional, lamp chops were tender, monkfish came with a delicious sauce! It was a great dinner, lovely night and I do recommend this place, especially the soup and the monkfish with its fantastic sauce!

Lovely atmosphere and luckily the weather was so nice - came here after a long hiking trip and the duck was fabulous. Local cider from Normandy is highly recommended 👌 loved the icecream. I think it could be cheaper maybe.

We paid in full in cash. Try charge us again through the room ! Asked for small 125ml wine. Accidentally gave a large. Just be careful make you sure you have recipes ready for reception ( not small square one they try con you with) apart from that food was ten out of 10 excellent and beautiful inside.

We had a lovely dinner for two despite having to make a last minute booking. The staff were wonderful and welcoming. I had a goats cheese starter which was really superb and my husband had swordfish steak which he's never eaten before and it was out of this world.

Service was very attentive and nothing wrong with the food, but it was nothing exceptional, apart from the French bread & butter😀 (that they charge extra for!). Great wine list though and some nice half bottles.

A gem of a place to visit. We've been a number of times now and it's always excellent. The staff appear to have been there a while which is always a good sign. The prices are very reasonable for the location and the food is amazing, everything on the menu is tasty and well presented and the choice is great. Couldn't recommend this place more!

We stopped off here for a quick drink because it was one of the closet watering holes to an appt. And we were so glad we did. Lovely friendly place, sat out in the sunshine. We were only stopping for a drink bit shred three starters, whitebait, mushrooms on toast and a prawn cocktail and they were all great!! Lovely and fresh. I am not keen on whitebait, but these were lovely, with a thin but consistent covering of breadcrumbs. Really glad we stopped and will make sure we do again. 😀

Nice enough pub. Very friendly staff and a warm welcome. A busy food area. The service was good The battered fish and peas were delicious, but the chips a little under cooked. The crab tortellini was rather stodgy.

Been staying in Sway, Lymington for a week visiting The Silver Hind pub every day. The staff (Leia in particular) and locals are very friendly and the pub has a great atmosphere. The menu is very extensive and we've just had Sunday dinner which was excellent. I forgot to take a pic of the Cajun Swordfish lunch I had but it was amazing. I did remember to take a photo of the desert 😊 I highly recommend this pub 😍

Stopped here a few times and always been good. Had their ploughman's which was excellent, my wife had a cheese & mushroom omelette which she thoroughly enjoyed. Reasonably priced and decent portions. Friendly atmosphere at this pub and the owner is very attentive without being pushy. We would definitely return.

We booked a table for four on Mothers day. Good service, friendly staff, great food. Will absolutely go again soon. When we arrived, mum got a glass of prosecco. We had starters (calamari, garlic musrooms in cream sauce, ham hock terrine and prawn cocktail) which were very tasty, and well presented. For main we all had roast (2x lamb, 1xbeef, 1xpork). There was plenty of vegetables - crispy roast potatoes, a yorkshire pudding, carrots, parsnips, leeks. We added a side of cauliflour cheese. It was all delicious and we even had room for pudding - two creme brulee and two sticky toffee puddings. Despite being very busy on Mothers day, the service was prompt, and food was hot.

Commoners is a vibrant and bustling wine bar located in the town center, offering a friendly atmosphere and good selection of bar food. The place has a welcoming staff and a nice outdoor area to meet up with friends. Visitors can enjoy delicious pizzas, cocktails, and excellent food while being served by attentive and helpful staff members. It's also an ideal spot for watching sporting events on the big screen or enjoying some local ales on tap.
The Commoners Bar - in my travels, this would also be at home somewhere in Czechia or Germany. Stylish interior with industrial type lighting. Spacious with a great atmosphere. Welcomed by friendly bar staff member Lana from Ukraine, passionate. Setting up a bar-tab was no problems as we were sitting inside. High tables with high stools for 2 to 4 people, normal height tables too and comfy sofas in the front. Plenty of electrical points for those wishing to charge or use their electronic devices with free wifi. The bar, an impressive array of wines and top shelf. Cider, lager and a guest ale, Hicks, at 5%. Nicely chilled (but not too much) and not too hoppy. Looking at the menu, the prices were reasonable, not outlandish. Grazing boards, pizzas, something for the little ones, sides, buns and wraps. I opted for a burger that was served in a ciabatta bun and not brioche. Partner opted for ham, egg and chips. Both were exceptionally good. Our bill came in under £50 for drinks, sharers plate and 2 main courses. A rarerity round here. Definately coming back and suggest others visit too. Their drinks menu is one to read. Definately worth coming into this bar in Brockenhurst, relaxed, welcoming and not over-priced. Was very impressed their loos especially the disabled. Clean and functional.

Inviting and intriguing interior, lots of tables for parties of various sizes. I visited in the late afternoon and I found a table with no problem. I was very happy that the kitchen was open all day round, which was not the case in the pub down the road. The service was prompt and friendly. Unfortunately the food was not great, hence three stars. I ordered chili noodles which were way too oily and a Caesar salad which was made of lettuce, dressing and unseasoned chicken pieces - a bit spartan version and not presented very well. I wish to come back there for drinks only, to enjoy the ambiance without the disappointment of the foodstuffs.
Dorota A — Google review
The staff were super helpful, but the food was fairly standard pub-style fare. I’m not quite sure what atmosphere the owners are aiming for. There’s an impressive-looking selection of wines stored high up on a rack, but no wine list — the staff went out of their way to figure out what was available. It feels like it might be aiming for a wine bar vibe, yet the presence of a pool table gives it more of a local pub feel, and the slightly worn furniture adds to the mixed signals. Overall, a bit of an odd combination.
English L — Google review
Lana was so helpful and welcoming, she even went to a nearby shop to buy ketchup for my husband's gammon and chips! We were here on a quiet Monday evening, and we watched our football match on a huge screen with good sound. Everywhere was perfectly clean. A great place all round.

I love coming to the Alice Lisle, the staff are always lovely and I look forward to seeing what's on the menu. The pub itself is beautiful at all times of the year. It was very quiet for a Friday night but that could be something to do with the freezing rain outside! We meet friends for dinner and drinks and had a lovely night overall. Pie of the day was steak and ale and was presented really well. Even the burger and chips had great presentation. I had the pan fried chicken "breast" risotto which tasted lovely but wasn't breast unfortunately! Though the chicken skin went well with it. I recommend their zinfandel rosé wine, sweet and tasty!

Arrived here as part of a long Sunday afternoon walk. It was a hot day and we needed a soft drink. I ordered two Pepsi and it cost £7:40! The staff seemed tired, didn’t say hello and when I asked a question the sassy young girl just said ‘no’ giving no explanation, just a straight ‘no’. I used to drink and work in this pub back in the 1980’s and back then it had a vibe, an open fire, a juke box and was heaving. The atmosphere was non existent. A family sat across from us had ordered extras to eat, with their meals, roast potatoes etc. These extras arrived after the meal was finished and the plates cleared away. Roast dinners were priced around £21, and nibbles around £12:50. All in all, it’s not a patch on what it used to be with staff who don’t know how to use hospitality. A must in the pub trade! I don’t think I’d go again.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Alice Lisle in Ringwood, and I must say, the environment is absolutely amazing. Whether you're dining inside or outside, the setting is perfect for a leisurely lunch, especially on a sunny day by the lake. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, making the experience even more enjoyable. The meal was simply astonishing. The squid starter was delicious, and the steak ale pie was out of this world, with a delicate fennel flavor that perfectly complemented the steak. I have to give a special mention to the cappuccino—I've never had one quite like it! Someone, please tell me how the barista makes that cream on top. The prices are very fair, with starters around £10, main meals around £17, and drinks and hot drinks each at about £4. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delightful dining experience.

Wonderful place inside and the outside area. Situated in a lovely quiet location, next to a lake. Away from the main road, so no traffic noise outside. Lovely seating areas, and an area especially for kids, but also an "adults only" area away from the noise. Food was good, and the service was quick.

Decided to pop in for some food, asked where the menus were and was told they weren’t sure! so after kindly being given one by another customer we ordered our food. both meals were not the best especially the ceasure salad which for £17 you would expect to be nice but as you can see from the photo was very standard/below avarage such a shame as used to be much nicer seems to have gone down hill with food and service so probably won’t return

I have visited the Alice Lisle a few times over the last few months and have always had a positive experience. On the 6th October, I visited with some friends and we got chatting with the FOH staff, specifically V who was very entertaining. She provided great service and a great chat, making our visit even more enjoyable. Despite it being a quiet Monday night, we had a great laugh with her! Will definitely be coming back soon, it's always worth the hours drive!

It has a large garden area with a decent kids play area and lots of tables to sit at. Its also a dog-friendly pub too with fresh water and bowls for your furry friends after a walk. I had the ploughman's platter which was generous and had a variety of cheese, meat, salad and baguettes on the plate. Main courses and drinks for 3 came to £70. Nestled in a former mill, Old Mill Pub & Dining is a charming boutique hotel that boasts cozy country-chic rooms and an elegant dining experience. Guests can enjoy the picturesque riverside terrace on sunny days. While the main mill rooms are adorned with traditional furnishings, some may find them slightly compact.
Stopped at this pub by chance on a rainy Good Friday, not really knowing if we needed to book a table in advance as the pub looked very busy. When we enquired at the bar we were immediately shown to a lovely table in the conservatory over looking the gardens. The waiter was very friendly and bought us a menu and made polite conversation whilst taking our orders. I ordered the fish & chips and my partner ordered The old mill burger. When the food arrived at our table it was very impressive and both meals were very tasty. Overall a very good experience, good food and friendly courteous service. What a beautiful place this is, haven’t been back for years, so glad I tried it again. The Mill is set in really pretty gardens with stream, linked by bridges and has plenty of parking to accommodate a massive amount of covers.

Visited on impulse on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon. Great location with interesting and spacious garden. A lot of tables and chairs in garden well laid out and clean and tidy. As a former hotelier and publican I thought providing a good level of service to a high standard is going to be challenging at peak busy times. Staff were cheerful and friendly and gave good service. Sunday Menu was good with a mixed offering of choices. Pricing was a little on the high side for what was on offer. Desserts were also similarly too high price and a simple biscuits and cheese platter priced at £15.50 not acceptable. Bar prices also a touch too high. Will be interesting to see if customer levels can be kept buoyant "out of season" at the current price point. Will go back for another visit to see midweek offering regarding service, pricing and quality of menu. Lots of positive points especially staff service but pricing needs attention (a very subjective opinion, others may disagree). Definitely worth visiting to form ones own opinion

The food was absolutely exceptional! Done to a wonderful high standard & completely flawless there The disappointment was in the timings. There were huge delays between being served drinks & food. It appeared that there were too few staff working this evening which was probably the main reason for the overwhelm! The fantastic food did make up for it somewhat- although hopefully the speed of service will improved next time.

Went for lunch last weekend, manager Karen absolutely amazing and accommodating showing us around the garden area and tour of premises, for a future visit. Chef did an amazing steak. Place neat, tidy and really welcoming. Top marks to Karen and her team

This place is really special, so nice we don't want to let too many people know about it! The location is perfect next to the river, the pub itself is cosy, and really inviting, wonderful decor, lovely bar, lots of seating areas so you'll never feel like you're sat too close to anyone else, even if its busy. I imagine it'll be a beautiful place to go in the winter with it's log burners and cosy seating areas. But its summer time so let me tell you about the outside! Its honestly the most picturesque setting, to sit in the immaculately kept gardens enjoying a chilled glass of Sauvignon and enjoying the Crispy Teriaki Pork Salad on a sunny day was just perfect. Delicious food, lots of choice on the menu, bar snacks too if you don't want anything too heavy. My husband had the steak sliders and loved them! The service is perfect too, lovely friendly, happy staff, very welcoming and attentative, they really are the cherry on top and the manager/owner should be proud of the team they have. We loved this place so much we're going back for lunch tomorrow, fingers crossed it stays dry! I highly recommend the Old Mill, if you're planning a visit you'll be blown away by this stunning place, but like I said earlier, lets not tell too many people 🤫

Restaurant @ The Stag Hotel is a charming 19th-century hotel located in the heart of the picturesque New Forest National Park, making it an ideal destination for a dog-friendly getaway. The refurbished rooms are equipped with en-suite bathrooms, ensuring a comfortable stay for guests and their furry companions. Visitors can also enjoy delectable meals at the restaurant, such as the Sunday roast featuring duo of beef and pork served with flavorful sides.
We took a trip to Lyndhurst for a bit of trinket shopping and to explore the local charity shops, and along the way, we stopped at The Stag Pub for a Sunday roast. Even without a reservation, the staff managed to find us a cozy spot. Both my partner and I ordered the duo of beef and pork, served with stuffing, parsnips, and an exceptional cabbage dish with a hint of truffle—an unexpected delight! The meal also included cauliflower cheese, though they kindly swapped it for mac and cheese for one of us. Unfortunately, both dishes were a bit light on cheese, which was the only letdown in an otherwise wonderful meal. The portions were generous, and we left feeling satisfied, full, and very happy.

Decent pub with a nice atmosphere. Lots of options for dinner and as we visited on Sunday had the option of a Sunday roast. Ordered a Cauliflower Dhal which was very tasty and a Nut Roast Sunday lunch, which comes without some of the sides to make it vegan. Catering for dietary requirements should not just be the removal of items, these should be replaced with alternatives.

This traditional pub in the historic village of Brockenhurst SO42 7XB is a good place to relax with friends or have a drink. It's popular for seafood, British lunch and dinner, and offers outdoor seating. There's also highchairs available, and it serves alcohol.
Today we walk the beaulieu to bucklers hard walk with our dog stopped at the yachtsman for a couple of drinks staff were all helpful we all had a burger from the grill food was good, bit pricey but this isn’t a Wetherspoons!!! great views.. we will definitely be back in the summer to sit it the lovely gardens.

Im not one to write reviews but feel compelled to do so given that I paid just under £47 for two cokes (the small glass bottles which are just about half a pint), one pint of cider and a J20, with four portion of chips which are small portions at best. Whilst the pub is set in a lovely place, I still can’t get over their food and drink prices and the service was distinctly average.

Disappointing Experience for Visiting Yachtsmen - Avoid if Vegan As a visiting yachtsman with a crew of three, we were looking forward to a pleasant meal out in Bucklers Hard. Unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. As a vegan member of the party, I was dismayed to find absolutely no vegan options on the menu. Upon politely inquiring with the staff if anything could be prepared – even a simple sandwich – the response was a blunt "No." The only offering I received was an uninspired and frankly insulting "you could have chips." This complete lack of consideration for dietary requirements was incredibly disappointing and made me feel unwelcome. My crew, who are not vegan, reported that their meals were mediocre at best, and certainly not worth the inflated prices charged. This further compounded our negative experience. For visiting yachtsmen, especially those with any dietary restrictions, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere for a meal in Bucklers Hard. This establishment clearly does not cater to diverse needs and offers poor value for money. A truly disappointing experience that left a sour taste in our mouths.

If I could not give a star, I would. A medium glass of house wine and a coke, £14.50 in the pub. Sat outside with cigarette buts on the floor and stamped in the table. Staff were surly and when I asked why it was soo expensive "Yes, paying for the view!" More expensive than most, good, pubs In central london. Avoid this awful place at all costs!! TERRIBLE!

Unhelpful Manager. Sailed to Bucklers Hard and planned to eat in Yachtsman's Bar that said on the web site could not be booked. Turned up and it was all booked out with people from the restaurant as there was an event there. The staff and the manager were most unhelpful and didn't know what was on the web site. Refused to feed us even though there were free tables. So we had to walk 2.5 miles to the Montague Arms - very welcoming ! - and 2.5 miles back in the dark through woods. Avoid unless sure

The prices here are laughable, and the beer wasn’t great. And should you wish to have a coffee instead of a beer, I’ll save you the trouble. It’s a machine that they push a button on, and for the privilege you’ll pay more than you would at an actual coffee shop. Don’t even look at the food menu. Just don’t. Portions you couldn’t feed a mouse with, costing the earth. It’s a joke, praying on tourists with more money than sense.

I phoned ahead to check if food was on. I was told it was. Made the trip ashore in the dinghy to find no food and most of the bar turned over to hotel guests. The staff were unhelpful and rude with plenty of excuses. The bar itself comprised a couple of tables next to the open door. No fire. It was freezing. This should not be called a Yachtsman's Bar. It is barely a bar at all.

We walked out after seeing the prices on the bar menu. This is why pubs are closing, greed. Expect eye watering prices. If your a person with more money than sense and like to show off, this is the place for you. Nice setting and area full of history. The one star is for the ability to order via the website.

Pub
Nestled in the heart of the New Forest, The New Wheel Inn is a delightful pub B&B that offers a cozy retreat for travelers seeking comfort and convenience. With its friendly staff and inviting atmosphere, this establishment provides well-appointed rooms that cater to families or couples alike. While it may not boast luxury amenities, it excels in delivering an authentic experience at sensible prices.
We stayed at The New Wheel Inn for 2 nights in April on a New Forest weekend break. The room was clean and cosy, with toiletries supplied. Access to the bedrooms was separate from the pub, up some external stairs at the back, but it was fine. We had 2 evening meals at the pub. The pie is highly recommended. My husband is very choosy about pie and quantity of filling, and the pies here are homemade and perfect! I had a crumble for dessert, and as you can see from the photo, the custard was seriously lacking, but it was very quickly rectified with a jug of piping hot custard! The portions were generous and very tasty. We only had breakfast on one morning. Both chose scrambled egg on toast but this was disappointing, white 'cardboard bread and dry eggs. However, overall I would definitely recommend this place. The staff are wonderful, kind and attentive. They are also very dog friendly. My Dog just had to look cute and wag his tail to keep being rewarded with biscuits, he was very happy too!

The New Wheel Inn – A solid stop in the New Forest Great place to stay for a night or two, with helpful staff, comfortable bedrooms and a good breakfast. It’s not the Ritz, but it doesn’t pretend to be. This is a good, honest pub B&B with very nice rooms and sensible prices. Perfect if you’re exploring the New Forest, and especially handy for Lymington. If you’re taking the bus in and out of town, do check the timetables and ask the staff exactly where your stop is – we missed one by not asking. Conclusion: Friendly, comfortable and well located. I would happily stay again.

We had a really good meal here. Often disappointed when we eat out these days but have to say not at The New Wheel Inn. Food came out really hot, tasted really good, great portions and a great price. Staff really friendly and helpful couldn't ask for me.

We found The New Wheel while walking in the New Forest near Lymington. And what a good find it was! The young lady who served us was keen to help and appeared happy in her work. As a group of four on a Saturday, we selected, two sirloin steaks, one medium and one medium-rare, one lamb shank and a salmon steak. All arrived, together just sixteen minutes later and all dishes were absolutely perfect. We were all so impressed that we returned for a scrumptious cooked breakfast on Sunday morning. I can't fault anything about The New Wheel and highly recommend it for both breakfast and main meal.

Staff here are really friendly. The food is good with nice large portions. There's a sensibly priced wine list as well as beers. With a pool table, TVs, garden with kids' play equipment and live music, it's a perfect place to visit.

We stayed in one of the rooms above the pub. It was a fair size to sleep 2 adults and 2 children in the same room. There was a toilet and shower room with the world’s smallest sink. The room had tea and coffee making facilities and drawers and clothes rail. A tv was also there if required. Free WiFi is provided and was mostly fast enough to do what we needed. The room itself was clean and relatively comfortable and a good spot to stay to explore the New Forest

The food is really good and good value. We can definitely recommend Sunday lunch and steak & ale pie. Good pub that hosts darts, pool and can show sport on TV. Good location with easy access to the coast, New forest or Isle of Wight.

Nestled in the charming town of Fordingbridge, The Moody Cow is a delightful spot that perfectly blends a welcoming atmosphere with delicious offerings. Whether you're stopping by for a leisurely brunch or an after-work drink in the sun, this establishment has something for everyone. With its straightforward British menu featuring breakfast classics, Benedicts, and sandwiches alongside tempting specials, there's no shortage of tasty options to choose from.
Such an amazing place. Friendly manageress. Absolutely amazing and atmosphere. Tony’s frying machine was amazing with delicious fish and chips, not to mention ton their curry sauce. My taste buds are still dancing in my mouth. Thank you. I will be back.

(Sorry terrible picture), I always believe that the service can really heighten one’s experience in a food establishment. Well the service here was 10/10. Amazing service and so hospitable! The food was excellent and overall a perfect find to start our afternoon in Fordingbridge.

Poor food and poor service. Not 1 but 3 burnt bacon brie and cranberry toasties; see photos. My son had a sorbet that while was tasty he couldn’t eat due to a excessive amount of seeds in it, Im guessing it was bottom of the barrel. Tea pot was lacking in tea; not enough for one whole cup. We reported all issues to the long haired male waiter who never came near us again. We ordered American pancakes afterwards one was skinny and delicious, the other was over 3 cm thick and doughy in the middle. Seemed to me like a cross between cake and bread. Poor food, poor service. So very very disappointed. People next to us we’re regulars and said things haven’t been right with the café side of the business for a while.

Love this place! We went for a little after work drink in the sunshine. The food coming out looked good so will be going back to try that soon. Great gelato counter, made on site, and a well stocked bar. Lovely outdoor seating area and a cute little play area for the kids. The only place to go that end of Fordingbridge so is always quite busy.

The ice cream is amazing, a must try, so creamy. They make it all on site behind a glass wall so you can look through! Great place for families aswell, loads of space, a sweet little find👍

Hi there, Going to give you 5 star as you're a new business to help, but more honest text review coming below. I came here on quiet Tuesday afternoon. Wasn't sure if bar or table service so I ordered at the bar and everyone was friendly and told me to take a seat and they'd bring out for me. I also paid up front which is easier. Menu was basic British brunch (breakfasts, Benedict's and a few sandwiches) plus a few specials on the side for those not wanting brunch. The girl who served me was very amicable and helpful. I ordered a veggie breakfast. This was huge and whilst I was hungry, I probably would have ordered something smaller if there was an option. The main meaty breakfast however does have the small option, so I feel that if you asked they'd probably be willing to do a smaller portion for veggie too. I ordered a latte to drink. It had a little too much head for my liking(lol) but there was nothing wrong with it, the classic latte with a biscoff biscuit on the side, nothing boogie about it. The outside area had plenty of seating and they were putting up some parasols for the summer, which I imagine will be good for the summer heat as it's certainly a sunspot! My breakfast was very tasty, better than expected. Veggie sausages were lovely, hash browns nice and crispy, good halloumi and a generous portion (which I've already mentioned!). The tomatoes were also tasty based on British standards( We've got nothing on the med sadly!!) I didn't have the mushrooms cos' mushrooms suck in general. Good parking area available too. They didn't have WiFi or any phone signal (I'm on 3 network so that may explain) but it was nice to have a phone break and read my book. Also there was a pleasant little 1km(or less?!) walking loop in the local wetland for burning off some of the extra toast I had eaten! All in all a nice experience and I was glad to come on a quiet day, where i received attention and good service, as I have a feeling this place will get busy on a Summers weekend. I'd probably rate 4 star if this place had hundreds of reviews, but as you're getting up and running, hopefully feedback taken on board and every good review will is priceless!
