We live up the road from here and come here A LOT! Deffo go for something from the Himalayan menu - you won’t be disappointed! The food here is absolutely delicious, and always hits the spot!

Food was absolutely delicious, we did have to wait 50mins for starters when a table that sat down at the same time as us got mains before us.... Only like a quarter of an hour after we got our mains tho which wasn't as bad. The bathroom... I don't understand how you stain a toilet seat that yellow and the edges of the floor was filthy but at least the main parts were fine? But yh the food really was lovely so it does deserve a good rating and there was two large party's there

Given frozen pizza, charged £10 for something that looks like it cost £1 from Iceland, probably cheaper in a cash & carry. Context below. We arrived at 7/8pm on a Sunday evening, they told me at the bar kitchen was closing in less than 5 but still took the order. The pizza and onion rings genuinely looks like frozen food, I may as well just ate at home.

Wonderful pub and restaurant in Swindon, close to M4 J16 and minutes from town centre. Good local beers and a choice of good pub classics or super tasty Nepalise curries - the house specialities. There are momo's of course and a range of richly spiced curries, tandoor cooked dishes and Biryani.

Hidden gem in Swindon, large varied menu from Himalayan cuisine to standard pub grub. Really impressed with the quality of the food and staff are extremely friendly. Would highly recommend experiencing the Mongolian cuisine.

Saturday curry night with the ladies. We had a selection of mains and they were all lush. Amazing tikka. Staff attentive, but not overpowering and later in the evening there was a lovely dj playing a selection of my kind of tunes and the odd karaoke. Highly recommend and will return 😋

Trying out the pubs and bars in Old Town and stopped by for a drink. Nice beer selection but the interior is quite horrible and needs updating, dark, cramped and messy with ancient looking furniture, wobbly tables, etc

Lots of new age craft beers to choose from. Not to my taste but a quirky bar in an old haidressers with live music at weekends. Old comics to read, as wall paper, whilst doing your business into cut down beer kegs. Knowledgeable owner who provides extensive insight into the breweries on tap and advice to your preferences. This bar would be one of many on your walkabout in Old Town as there is little parking nearby.

Used to be a nice place , now it feels like you’re in thier store room - barrels , boxes all over the place crap everywhere in the bar area , the beer is good but the place is a tip.

nice to go into a pub that actually sells 'beer' as in a bitter , most pubs these days don't sell any bitter just a couple of IPA's which isn't beer imho and about 30 types of largest 🤦 so fair to the 'tuppoenny' for breaking this current trend 👍🏻 as Arnie would say 'I'll be back 👍🏻

Little pub just a minute or two off the M4 on Marlborough side. Serves food in the afternoon then again from 5pm until 9pm. Service was friendly they accepted us as a walk in with no reservations. Think it maybe better to book. Ham, egg and home made chips were tasty and of high quality. Lots of vegan or vegetarian options. The tomatoe salad and Burrata was so soft, creamy with a little balsamic vinegar dressing. Overall a cosy pub setting with helpful staff and food that's worth taking your time enjoying. Excellent indeed.

On our way to visit family in Hampshire we booked Sunday lunch, absolutely delicious. On our way back home to South Wales we decided to call in and have an early evening meal. Both occasions the food was delicious, staff were very friendly and attentive. Fish and chips were the best we’ve had for a long time. The atmosphere is very welcoming.

Stopped here on route to Cornwall. It was busy but was found a table. I had an excellent gammon and cheese sandwich, partner had a smoked salmon and cream cheese one, atmosphere was lovely, warm and welcoming. The place was very clean. Highly recommend

Stopped there today on the off chance to get some food as Granddaughter was hungry. Place was very pleasant, staff went out of there way to accommodate my Granddaughter's food requirements which was served really quickly. Well priced and very good quality food and servings. Would definitely visit again.

Was driving back home on the M4 when I looked up pubs in the area, this pub was very close to junction 15 on the M4 The pub was very nice and had a nice atmosphere as we entered the pub, although it was busy the young lady found us a nice table inside as per our request. The food was fantastic, we had the beer battered fish and chips with the added curry sauce Which is delicious and very enjoyable And we had the steak and chips which which was also very nice. Great service by the team and although it was very busy on a sunny bank holiday, we really appreciate the effort the team to ensure we had a great experience. Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos. But next time we are in the area, we will pop in.

Best roast in Swindon, each meat option has all the trimmings, I really could have licked my plate clean! The fact my daughter actually ate vegetables also says it all. All the staff were lovely and so attentive, especially towards my little one. Also a great range of free from options on the menu too, which allowed us to have meal out with confidence.

The wait was very long , probably nearly and hour, although staff did apologise. We had booked a table in advance. We were given a bowl of chips between 4 to tide us over. The lady came back later, while we were still waiting, and asked if she could get us a drink. 3 of us said yes thinking 'what a nice gesture, as we are still waiting'. When we got the bill the drinks were added to it! Food was great when it arrived, but took far to long. Dairy intolerance meal was incorrect asked for chips not mash. Queue to order was approx 15 mins long. Everyone was friendly, but service was amazingly slow and when meals came one was incorrect. Last time we visited it was still the Bayberry. Will be that long or longer until we visit again... Top marks for gluten free menu, even good desserts.

Really enjoyed the steak. First time I've eaten here and was pleasantly surprised. The menu has a good range of options and the staff were friendly and polite. My colleague and I came during our lunch break and we unfortunately arrived just after a large party so there was around a 40 minute wait for our food, however, the staff advised us there would be a wait upon ordering and it was extremely busy so cam't be helped. Next time I'll come after work so I have more time to enjoy my food and relax.

We had booked for a birthday dinner but had to move the time of the booking due to cricket overrunning - was really impressed with the flexibility and patience of staff in accommodating our booking. It was perfect for both adults and children. Great menu range, everyone found something they liked, children had things to keep them busy. Serving staff were really friendly and went out of their way to check everyone got what they needed. Kitchen REALLY kindly served us dessert even though it was 9:10 by the time we ordered. It was fantastic to have such a large carpark available as well. One thing I would say is that I had a total panic when I discovered (at 6:30pm) that there would be karaoke at 8pm that evening - I couldn't see this anywhere on your website and it might have been helpful to be told at the time of booking. That said, it actually barely disturbed us - apparently it was the quietest it's been for some time! I am really grateful to the pub for seating us in a separate section. On arrival, we were greeted quickly and informed we could either order at the bar or via QR code at the table. Specials were on offer (see menu). The food arrived soon after ordering. Starters: Cheesy mushrooms were underwhelming with the mushrooms rather bland, covered in gloopy, rather than gooey, cheese. The buttermilk chicken strips and popcorn chicken were okay but quite ordinary. Mains: The special of sea bass and pasta - the fish was cooked beautifully and served on a bed of pasta with the tomato vegetable sauce underneath, which meant the first few mouthfuls were non-descript in flavour. I mixed it all in and it was better but lacked seasoning and maybe some garlic. The special of chicken served with chorizo roasted potatoes was over cooked and dry. Overall, a very clean pub with friendly staff but underwhelming food.

A spacious pub with varied areas indoors and out, mainly focused on enjoying sports. Cowboy burgers were excellent and overall food is very good value. Some staff were engaging and welcoming others more surely especially when we tried to use a valid discount card. Good atmosphere. Despite a full car park there was ample seating in the venue. Tidy and comfortable and tables cleared very quickly. Would go back to try more of the menu.

Went here for breakfast and to be blunt it was abysmal. Sausage and bacon both repulsive, mushrooms were dry, beans were cold. The only saving grace were the eggs. Would not recommend, in fact I would recommend you do not eat it.

You pay for what you get and you can't go wrong with the wedge!! I love it here, suitable for anyone. It's not posh, but as per my comment above, if you want posh, go somewhere else. Prices are decent in this day and age!!! Guiness is always half decent, so it gets thumbs up from me

Every time myself and the wife go in for food and a drink, there is one member of staff in particular that makes us feel very welcome and treats us like we are VIPs, her name is Chloe. She always has a smile on her face and is very professional. Great member of staff and it's people like this that makes you want to come back time and time again

Came here with my partner for my birthday and ordered the mix grill, as I always do on my birthday. Amelia cooked the best steak I have ever eaten in a pub. It was actually rare, which some places seem to have a hard time with, and had a beautiful char and crust. So thank you Amelia, amazing work and made my day that much better. Lovely staff at the bar as well, and just a wonderful evening all around

We held a gathering of family, friends and veterans, after a memorial service at Christchurch for a Paratrooper buried there. We had a function room to ourselves, the 3 girls on shift were amazing, their kindness, hard work and attention to detail were exceptional. Aine, Jess and Lucinda were so professional, helpful and respectful. Darren( The Boss), thank you. These girls are a credit to you and your team. They love their jobs and it shows. Had really great service at the Goddards today! Didn’t have food but the service was great, our bartender Sophia was lovely and very welcoming even though she was super busy and I heard a few rude impatient people speak to her. Would definitely come back, every time we have visited the staff have always been very kind and attentive

Love the Goddard arms, this is our favourite Old Town local now as like the location, price and numerous TV screens showing a great selection of sport. The food is really good and always a great service, particularly from Sophia who is brilliant. She looks after us and always makes sure we get the best experience on every visit, never disappoints!

I had been for a job interview and I decided to go for a drink and reflect, take notes re interview. Gorgeous sunny day, sat outside. Big seating area. Cider was OK. Staff were polite. Didn't want food. [ I got the job]

We spent a heartfelt evening in the private area of the pub following a memorial service at the church. From the moment we arrived to set up, the staff were nothing short of exceptional. Áine led with warmth and professionalism, always on hand to assist, while her team, Lucinda and Jess, delivered service that truly stood out. Their genuine enthusiasm for their work and care for our group left a lasting impression. Rarely have I encountered such a dedicated team who so clearly love what they do and value their guests. Áine, Lucinda, and Jess, you are an absolute credit to the pub—thank you for making our evening special and looking after us with such kindness.

This beautiful building, adorned with a leafy dress, contains one of the best dining experiences you can find in swindon. The service is swift and friendly, the decore is seemless and the whole room is tied neatly together with comfortable seating! The food is well worth is very reasonable price, the set-menu options offer a good full meal, made and presented with such care you can see it in every part of the dish. I highly recommend dining here at any time during the week or for a weekend roast. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ate here both nights that I was staying in Swindon. Food is delicious and well presented, drinks were decent, and the service was friendly and fast. Handy if you're staying in the premier inn opposite and don't want to use their restaurant.

Came here for Breakfast on a Sunday morning around 10.30. Great breakfast, lovely and quiet for a morning. Doesn't get loud and busy until 11.30 or later. Food was great. Maybe took 10 minutes to arrive which is perfect. Would definitely recommend and would revisit.

We popped in here for food and drinks, before going to the theatre👍 We found a table easy tonight, but then ordered our drinks at the bar, as it wasn’t busy. But after a few minutes quite a crowd came in, so we used the App to order our food👍 First time to use the app, got used to it quite quickly, so was easier. Food was basic, but good value for money😋

This is a great Wetherspoons, it's in an old cinema and has loads of character. There's the normal great menu with something for everyone. We did get our food before our drinks which was annoying. But the food was tasty and well presented.

Great place located in town center , great place for break during shopping or just to pop in with friend for food and drink . Visit many times , it's great to sit with friends no music so u don't need yo shout to each other. Affordable prices , big choice of food and drinks. I know its a chain pub but food never disappointe. U can use app to order which some people might like .

Looking around the different cafes and bars in Old Town, I popped in to have a coffee and to try a breakfast. Although not that inviting from the front, the member of staff was very helpful and friendly, the coffee arrived and shortly afterwards the breakfast. The 3rd piece of bacon was hiding as well as the black pudding so a big breakfast it definitely was, I struggled. It would be nice to have a choice of a smaller version. Will be definitely going back, so the stars given may change....

Came here for a light lunch. I ordered the club grilled sandwich, my husband had the steak sandwich. Mine was extremely dry—just a dry piece of chicken, one lettuce leaf, and barely any mayo. I went to ask for sauce and had to wait about 20 minutes while the staff struggled to take the order from the customer ahead of me. When the waitress finally turned to me, she was sarcastic and said she’d already asked my husband. I explained I wanted sauce myself, and to be fair, she brought it over quickly—within 2–3 minutes. The space is nice, but the food and service need real improvement. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We come here all the time, and we are always greeted with a smile and made to feel at home by the staff. Came in today and we were served by a new staff member. No friendly greeting we order a couple of cocktails (supposed to be sex on the beach) and we got 2 drinks that were just thrown together in a shaker. Served without due care and attention. Having spent 30 yrs in the trade I just find this lack of due care and attention an issue. When asking for the drinks to be remade, i was told by the young lad that "i used to work in a really high end bar" which sort of didn't make him look that great- considering it is a pretty basic cocktail he definitely should have known how to make it. However it was remade to how it should be made. I would suggest more training. Not just on mixology but also customer service as well.

Nice bar but no ales. Good choice of food and generally good quality. Had 5 meals and all tasted good. Bacon undercooked on chargrilled chicken and tacos very tasty but a little small. Generally good overall. Would come again

Food came out quickly but the drinks took over half an hour as we ordered them on the app. Apparently staff don’t check the app regularly. Very disappointing as we only ordered two basic drinks. After going up to the bar twice, the manager helped us and was very nice.

AVOID, Poor service even when empty!!! We came here for breakfast hoping to try something new. We waited 1 hr for our food and our drinks arrived late, considering it wasn’t very busy and there wasn’t alot of people seated. We got handed different orders twice within the hour which they brought back to the kitchen. We had assumed it was the orders of the people that have walked out and left, as there had been a few customers asking for refunds at the till. My partner and I were exhausted and hungry as we were in the process of moving house. By the time our order arrived it was lukewarm and I received a meal that wasn’t what I ordered, at that point we gave up and ate what was delivered to us, as we didn’t want to wait any longer for the correct food to be delivered as we already waited an hour.

no 'beer' just about 20 largers and ciders and an IPA which isn't proper beer , so had to have Guinness, plus the fire alarm kept going off , at least 7/8 times in about 15 minutes, so we drank up and left. note to owners , get some beer on tap and you may get more customers as it was empty apart from us on Friday ?

Despite not being a fan of Wetherspoons, I decided to visit this one for a meal and a drink. When I purchased a bottled beer with a glass, the glass looked so mucky (as shown on photo). I took the glass back to the bar staff, and was told that the glass was "clean" and I'm being fussy. That was rude and unprofessional. The food? Pretty good. Can't complain. A burger with extra couple of patties, plus an alcoholic drink for under £11. Can't go wrong with that, even if the food was microwaved. Overall, not the best of places, but if there was an improvement of customer service and serving drinks with clean glasses, it would've been a great establishment to enjoy food and drink on a budget.

God bless the staff here. They were doing their best but you could tell they were understaffed. The food I ordered arrived quickly and was nice, but my table and those around me hadn't been cleaned so I ate my breakfast surrounded by the dirty glasses of those who had been there before. Typical Weatherspoons atmosphere with a collection of elderly folk quietly planning their day over breakfast, and singing men who were far too drunk for ten in the morning.

Nice pub in town and value for money but I think the mushrooms were undercooked today. The chef was in a hurry and fried them instead of baking them, so the insides were not cooked.

For me,this Spoons serves the best all day brunch I've had and I've had many in many Spoons!!

Edit: visited here again on 9/11/2024. BBQ burger and pint of Leffe for 'Managers Special' price of £8.93 - Bargain! Pub was also very busy, which seriously begs the question as to why Wetherspoons are trying to dispose of this pub. An utterly ridiculous decision. It is equally as busy as other Wetherspoons I've visited on a Saturday, in the same time period. --- Have been here before for a beer, but did not review on previous visit. A large two story branch on the northern side of the town centre. A more modern branch inside and out than The Savoy. The pub was quite busy when I visited, and had to find a table in the upstairs area. Music is played in the evening, which is a rarity in Wetherspoons. In addition to The Savoy, another branch that does the good value 'Top Plates, Low Rates' deals on selected items. On this visit I opted for The All Day Brunch and a pint of Titanic Chocolate and Vanilla Stout - one of the March Wetherspoons Festival Beers. As with Savoy, a decent range was available. The total cost of food and beer was a very reasonable £6.44. Food was well presented and cooked, no complaints with the beer. I really cannot fathom why this branch is being closed, it was fairly busy on my visit and Swindon Town centre is fairly large. It is also more convenient for the train station. Although I do like visiting Spoons branches, I do find their closure policy utterly bizarre in many cases. What still isn't grasped, although the pub is not as busy as they would like, it is likely still one of the busiest pubs in town. Hopefully sense will prevail and this branch will he saved from closure.

Ordered a tennesse burger which was under cooked and raw inside 4 witnesses yet the person on the floor telling me she probed my food after it had been sent back. Food was cold at this point has had been with us for a while now, along with no check back after food was delivered to table we had to all day breakfast 1 of which came with toast 1 never same meal by the way. As well as being argued when i know all burgers are made to order from fresh states so on there website the floor mangger or who ever it was that told me other wise needs firing. im a chef of 14 years and the customer service was very bad I will not be returning shame been using sir Dans for about 3 years when asked what id like done I said just a pudding for my son as a sorry server got a little rude so I think I will be taking this further absolutely disgusted by my meal the other 3 minus the toast were fine very poor service from the 1 waitress on the whole of the bottom floor gone down hill is a understatement to say the least.

We visited The Sir Daniel Arms in May 2023. Very nice Wetherspoons in a unique and imposing building. Spread across two floors, quite well decorated with fireplaces upstairs and an industrial feel to it. Balconies upstairs and an outside seating area downstairs with two large bars, one on each floor. Manager very good. Attended for bottomless brunch 7 people, food bad, drinks poor, slow service. Overall very poor won’t be attending again: Only think that was quick and bottomless was the water.

My friends and I had a really lovely brunch on Sunday 22nd September 2024. I had a very tasty full English breakfast. My friend had avocado on toast which looked and smelt lovely too. The service (a gentleman and lady from behind the bar) gave us extremely good service and I told them this as we left. We will be returning! Thank you.

If you're looking for quality service and good food, I would go somewhere else. I will not be returning. I went to Rudis yesterday for the second time, looking forward to having the Double Pepperoni & Spicy Honey Pizza I had in February 2024, which was £12.25 at the time. I see it on their paper menu yesterday (and it's still called Double Pepperoni & Spicy Honey Pizza) for £13.95, but when it came out, it looked extremely different -- just pepperoni, no fresh chili or basil -- just pepperoni, nothing double about it. It wasnt spicy at all, there wasn't even honey on it. I had to walk up to the bar (their staff is nice enough, but their table service really needs work) to let them know I thought the wrong pizza had come out, and one of the staff offered to take it back and have a new pizza made. We explained that all we wanted was for the correct pizza to come out. He came back with a container of honey with chili flakes and said they didn’t have the fresh chili and if they made a new pizza, it would just be the same pepperoni pizza topped with this honey. I said fine, we'll just put it on our existing pizza. Well the honey wasn't spicy at all, again. If you didn’t have this item, let me know when I order it. If you get caught trying to sell something you don't have, offer to take it off the bill or offer something else on the house. It's so shady to trick your patrons like this and then not own up to it or try to make up for it. I'm including photos of the pizza from February along with how the menu described it, to compare with photos of yesterday's basic pizza with our bill, showing that they still charged us the full £13.95 for this item that they didn’t have, and didn't serve me. There were 7 of and we all ordered plenty of drinks and food, and we still got charged the full £13.95 for this single pepperoni pizza -- no offers to take it off the bill, no offers to charge for just a pepperoni pizza, no customer care about the fact that they just sold a menu item hoping I wouldn't notice it was a completely different and lesser item. I never write reviews but this was a really disappointing experience.

We ate here before seeing a show at The Meca. Nice variety of foods, especially the pizza. A nice energetic vibe and the staff were helpful and friendly. Rudi's loses a star because our pissas took a long time to arrive, but to be fair, it was pretty busy!

Food was good, but all sauces came in small packets... So many packets of ketchup for an order of chips.... Service was rather slow, definitely an order two drinks at once sorta thing. Music was also rather loud for a pub where people came to eat and socialize.

Rudi’s is an awesome place! Delicious food and a nice list of hand-crafted cocktails. I’ve become a regular here because of the great food and friendly service. They have Sunday roast specials as well, delicious!

Popped in for a Sunday roast for my dad’s birthday and they also cater for Coeliacs! Which is amazing! The portion size is more than generous and there’s the option of having a bit of each meat on offer - which for my inner pig is a dream! Especially as it means I don’t have to make a decision over which meat to have 😂 The staff are friendly and helpful, able to answer any questions and always on hand if needed! Great atmosphere and selection of drinks and they also do gluten free desserts too! Thanks for having us! ❤️

The roast I have eaten today will go down as the BIGGEST I have ever had. The food quality was good and the price was astounding. £15 gets you a trio of meats. To put it into perspective, I work out a lot and am a fairly large muscly 6'1 lump of a man who hadn't had breakfast and the lunch defeated me! Compliments to chef Ephi!

Went to the pub on Friday afternoon, absolutely dead apart from two people talking to the bar person. Positive was service was quick. Amazingly considering how quiet it was, a couple same in and sat on next table to us, basically just started kissing loudly, case of get a room ! Time for us to leave !

This is a good place for sports and some drinks. The food is good and well served. The staff is really helpfull, even try to find the game that you want :)

Sat and had a drink here on a Thursday night , it was very quite which was great as there are lots of comfy sofas to sit on. Nice music was being played. The prices for a coke where a little overpriced. Ovall a good place for a drink and a chat

Lovely little hidden away pub. Sunday dinner was very lovely with everything cooked well. Staff attentive and friendly, was a very hot Sunday and the restaurant area was exceedingly hot which was a little uncomfortable for us and being unable to have the door held open but overall was lovely.

We booked the function room at the Southbrook Inn for a family celebration and we couldn't be happier. The private garden that comes with it is a definate bonus. Julie and Alun were very accomodating and did a BBQ for us. It was perfect; the food was plentiful and well cooked. Our Veggie guests were well catered for too. The function room is spacious and as we had infants and small children at the event there was plenty of room inside for toys and outside play for the older ones. The toilets and baby changing area are sparkling clean and new. We had the best day and can't thank Julie, Alun and their team enough for the excellent friendly service. The Southbrook Inn is a Gem in Swindon Centre and we would definately recommend and book here again.

Surprise party for me, amazing. Lovely venue, staff were friendly and attentive, buffet food was delicious and they were wonderful accommodating my sister who has serious allergies and they made an amazing platter for her, thank you.

I recently visited Drink Valley in Swindon with a large group of colleagues – about 30 of us – and had a fantastic experience. We hired the entire venue for the afternoon, and the team at Drink Valley handled everything beautifully, ensuring our event ran smoothly. One of the highlights was the incredible selection of ciders and beers on offer. Their cider, in particular, stood out – amazing quality and a wide variety to suit all tastes. Whether you’re a fan of something fruity, crisp, or more robust, there’s something for everyone. For those who prefer beer, the choices were equally impressive. The service was pretty decent considering the size of our group. The staff were friendly, attentive, and ensured everyone was looked after. For lunch, we went with the special menu of a curry and a drink for £16 per head, which was an excellent deal. The curry was flavorful and hearty – just what we needed on a chilly day – and the portion sizes were spot on. We did have the meat dishes come out before the vegetarian dishes which was the only small annoyance. The venue itself is cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot for casual get-togethers or larger gatherings like ours. Drink Valley really delivered in terms of quality, value, and atmosphere. If you’re looking for a place in Swindon that offers great drinks and a laid-back vibe, I highly recommend giving it a try. We’ll definitely be back! Rating: 4/5

Fantastic place, great vibe. Stopped by for a Sunday beer and a curry. Banging curry, fresh ingredients. The man behind the bar is very friendly and knows his beers inside and out. Tasted a few and stuck with the mango beer. Highly recommended.

We live locally and have eaten here a couple of times, and enjoyed the food and drink on each occasion. The atmosphere is pleasant with a calming aroma of hops from the mash tuns behind the bar. Staff are helpful and friendly too. Will happily return and recommend to others. A hidden gem!

Great pub which serves fantastic food and a good range of drinks. Often supporting local musical acts and comedians from around the country with a rich history of fantastic acts. A definite if you enjoy live rock and indie music. Friday and Saturday are by far the busiest nights, arrive in good time if you want a table!

My first time visiting the Victoria in Swindon. Went to see Motley Crude, the atmosphere was great, staff brilliant and the show was so good. Its a smaller venue but you have to imagine when the big rock bands were making their way they would have played in these small venues so it captures that feel. The venue is great, toilets, bars, easy to find, street parking only but there's always somewhere

I am not from the area and tried to park in the pub carpark while dropping something off to my friend quickly and who I assume was the landlady threatened to pop my tires and shout abuse at me and my friend before we could even retaliate. After apologising and explaining how I didn’t realise it wasn’t public and wasn’t from the area I was shouted at even more and called a liar and told to move my car. I wouldn’t take my family here as she seems clearly a very aggressive person. If I could put no starts I would

Staff is rude , they don’t wash the beer glasses properly.They should learn the basics of hospitality.. poor and ignorant staff ( the bar tender especially) … the ambience is really dull , there are better options nearby ( like weatherspoon) .., no wonder why the pub is always empty . Unfortunately not as great place as I hoped for. Together with my friends we were made feel really uncomfortable when we have decided not to take part in Wednesday quiz night. Landlords suggested that if we are not staying for quiz, they need our table ASAP. Very awkward!!! We were in the middle of having drinks and full on conversation and fun. It's a shame. Very rude, uncomfortable moment. Fair to say, we won't be back.

Friendly community pub with a decent range of Arkells beers. Update. The Clifton is a welcoming, friendly pub full of charming regulars and not so regulars. It is a great place to watch sport and relax. Full of dogs and kids it has a great community atmosphere and should be celebrated for that fact.

Came in at about 8pm on Saturday. It was quiet apart from a few people who were singing happily to the music. I noticed a really good selection of spirits, in particular gin from where I was sat at the bar. The place had a clean and fresh feel to it as if it had recently been re-furbished. The bar was set up with lots of seating.

Lovely pub, have lived on Clifton Street for 24 years and I spent a long time having never been into it under old management. Since it's been refurbished and under new management it's now so bright and vibrant. Staff are so friendly a really lovely place for a drink and dogs are welcome in the pub and outside!

I haven't been to the Clifton in many years and was pleasantly surprised to see they have (recently?) Had a refit and it looks lovely inside and out. Drinks seemed reasonably priced and with a good selection including local brews. Only grip was that it was a difficult to get a seat but is just due to the size of the pub. Would recommend a visit.

Just back from Sunday lunch for hubby's birthday. As usual they've gone out of their way to do more than is on the menu. One wanted all the meats, I wanted cauliflower cheese. Nothing is a problem. Awesome Wadsworth pub and they got swordfish on for us 😁, staff are super friendly as always and so welcoming. Chef is just amazing, we've eaten here loads, nothing ever disappoints us. Standard menu is fantastic and so well prepared and tasty. I'll be back all the time.

We went here after RIAT, feeling tired and weary. We were welcomed by great staff, and one checked that a burger that sounded vegetarian on the menu was definitely vegetarian (it was). The kitchen was due to close fairly soon after we arrived but we ordered quickly. Our group had two smashed beef burgers and I had the Thai veggie burger. They all came with onion rings and fries. There was a lunch menu too. Absolutely recommend. Kind, friendly staff and a pub buzz too.

Had some brilliant Friday evening beer food… probably the best around! Lamb tikka chops… lovely salad and chutney with it, lamb was perfectly pink. Pork belly ribs with BBQ sauce… plenty of meat, maybe a bit more sauce to dip into given the amount of meat on these beasts. And Halloumi fries with a nice sweet chilli dip. All 3 for £18.95… superb value. Mac and cheese for my daughter was also good. Good job, will be back to try the rest if it!

I ordered a roast beef Sunday lunch on Just Eat. My order arrived on time, the food was well packaged and was still hot enough to enjoy without reheating. There was plenty of vegetables and gravy. Loads of roast beef, this was cooked beautifully. I will definitely be ordering again. Please pass on my thanks to all involved in delivering a decent Roast Sunday Lunch *****

Favorite pub around Old Town. Amazing Atmosphere, Good staff, decent food.

A truly enthralling place to visit. So much to see and wonder at. The audio guides are free and help to explain the various rooms and paintings that you see. The Coronation dress and Robe of Estate and jewellery worn by the Queen are stunning and there are several information boards that give you a brief description of the ceremony. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to take photos or videos inside the castle, so I recommend you buy one of the guide books that are on sale. The gift shops offer a variety of things to buy from reasonably priced to "how much?" (Gasp). You really need two or 3 days to see it all, including St George's Chapel, another beautiful place to visit with so much history. I had better stop now as I seem to be writing a guide book 📖

Wish I had taken a photo of our food because it was absolutely beautiful! Well present, delicious, and great menu choices. Being totally honest, we as a family stopped coming for a while as we wasn’t as happy with the food etc. but we came today as my sons choice of where to eat and it was great! The music, the atmosphere and most of all the bar lady, I didn’t catch her name but I did make a point to go and tell her that I think she’s amazing. She was bubbly, helpful, full of energy and so welcoming. Happy to make this out local once again!

There was an issue with our bill and rather than it being explained and sorted quickly, we were met with Stephanie. The most aggressive and rude person I have ever met. I cannot believe she thinks she can speak to customers the way she did to us last night. If we weren’t hungry and with family members, I would have requested a refund and left. The food wasn’t great but we weren’t expecting much for the price. The onion bhaji was barely edible and 1 meal didn’t come with a sauce but no-one wanted to make a fuss given the hostile experience. That was our first (and last) visit to the spotted cow.

Visited here today - service was greeted with politeness and kindness, bar lady thought I was 7 years younger than I was. Told my friend he looked 4 years older than he was. Win win.

Decided to check out this pub after Brookhouse closed. Great to see some of the staff here, Stephanie provided great service - friendly and conscientious. Decor is a little tired but overall it’s good value for money.

Hadn't been here for a few years so popped in for our tea. I like that you can order through an app. Good menu, prices reasonable. Staff were polite. Food was decent and portions are massive. Could do with having an option to order the same meals but smaller.

Served by Maddie who was very knowledgeable and friendly! Food was generally good, what you would expect from a hungry horse but the nachos weren't great as they tasted off. Toilets could do with an update as some don't have locks and are a bit run down. Kids play park is lacking on things to play on.

Delicious food and such a selection. The most gorgeous beer garden in the sun and plenty of parking. A nice spot that can get busy for events or weekends but lovely for with friends or family. Have been going here for a long time and continues to impress us all.

Casual Sunday drink. Could barely sit in the garden for the wasps. We persevered and had a couple, but sad to see the place so quiet. Why not use the BBQ, get a pizza oven? However, the bar staff were great and welcoming. It'll be a while before we come back.

To be honest, I didn't like the food. I thought it was horrible. The halloumi and onion rings were PURE soaked OIL. They were so crusty that I couldn't eat them. My chicken burger tasted like fish. The staff were very disorganized, they didn't write things down properly and then they got nervous. I don't recommend it for your birthday or celebration.

Service was excellent but cutlery was dirty. Overall I gave this pub a 4. If the staff hadn't been so quick and friendly I would have given it a 3. The pub is massive. My table number was 132... The waiting time according to the app was 4 minutes for drinks and 6 minutes for food. My drink arrived within 1 minute and food within 4. The fastest service I've had in Wetherspoons so far. Unfortunately the knife and fork were not clean. The knife was disgusting (see photo). I had the small breakfast which I have had in several other Spoons and it was about average if a little cold. The fried egg was dippy, which I like but the white was a little bit undercooked on top. This is excusable in a pub setting because it's hard to get a fried egg dippy and the white spot on. Overall the food was acceptable for the price, although the small breakfast in this pub was £3.99 whereas the same breakfast in the Sir Daniel Arms in Swindon town centre was only £2.25. The Hot chocolate was fine (unlimited refills) at £1.56 but more expensive than the same item in the Silk Mercer (a Spoons in Devizes, Wiltshire) where it was only £1.04 Not the best Wetherspoons I've been in but possibly the largest. Not the cheapest either. Would I rush back there? No. The other 2 Wetherspoons in Swindon are both better in my opinion, and cheaper.

Big pub and large garden at the front with tables, benches etc. Had breakfast. Nicely cooked apart from fried eggs a bit over. Came quite quickly. Could do with someone clearing up a bit more regularly. Parking is free for 3 hours in the larger Euro car park near the pub.

Really looked forward to a cheap breakfast - I ordered the Freedom breakfast and black coffee suitable for me being Gluten Free Dairy Free. The hash brown tasted like it was flavoured - not clean - so I double checked with a staff member if it was Gluten Free before I continued, and asked if the vat was shared with anything gluten containing. He confirmed the hash browns and chips were fried seperately. Anyway, ate the breakfast happy to have a bargain, thought maybe they used a bit of lard or something in the oil. Spent last night with a stomach ache and today with a poor belly - so I'm guessing they weren't actually Gluten Free.

We visited as a group and had a wonderful dining experience here! The long table setup was perfect for our team, and the atmosphere was lively and full of character — very British and welcoming. The restaurant was quite full, which made it feel vibrant and popular. There was plenty of space for everyone, and we really appreciated how the team worked together so smoothly — it gave the whole place a warm, collaborative vibe. Would love to come back!👍🏻

A very large weatherspoons with cosy cubby holes to sit in. Affordable drinks and food. Perfect place to bring the family because of the space it is very child freindly. The food is what you would expect except for the breakfasts which are impeccable. Worth a visit for sure

Serive was fast and friendly The environment is great. This place is quite huge and there is outdoor sitting in the garden so finding a table wasn't difficult. Food was served hot, and the chicken wings we ordered were delicious. The pizza and cheese burger was okay. The price for food seems fair for the service and food. And, Parking is free for 3 hours. The only reason for 4 stars was the toilet, which was a little bit dirty but usable. Overall, I would definitely recommend it.

Came here for our evening meal on Thursday 22nd May 25. It was curry night, so we chose from the curry menu. We both had a chicken korma, side salad and bowl of chips. I had a mixed Berry Kopparberg cider, my partner had a tea. The curry was tasty, the nam bread was also nice and soft and full of flavour. On some negative points, the plates were like cold!! And seemed to make the food get cold quickly. The size of the bowl for the chips was tiny!! And for what you pay for it, wasn’t good value for money! The next day I was very sick🤮🤢and had to stay in bed!! My partner was also feeling ill, with a bad stomach!! We only ate food at the Dockle, so more than likely, we picked something up from here to make us ill. Be interesting to hear if any more cases occurred from this night?? I do like this pub, but has put me off it at the moment.😬

What a great little pub! Friendly staff made me feel at home and welcome when staying nearby for work. The locals were also very friendly. Reasonably priced food and drinks, excellent pint of Guinness. They put the football game on for me even though I was probably the only person in there interested. Can’t ask for much more really!!

Food is absolutely banging. Service is always top tier, from the lovely, funny staff. The prices, and deals on food & drink just about hit the sweet spot. The Guinness is beautiful- genuinely top 5, maybe even top 3 in all of Wiltshire (I would know). The staff take their time, and pour properly. Strong creamy heads every time. I'll always TRY a Guinness in England, but its very rare that I will miss every bus and stay to have as many pints as my wallet will allow.

Awful. Unless you wanted to watch the football. We should have eaten at the hotel. Asked for Sunday lunch but only had one option and when it came 40 minutes after ordering, half the veg was missing with no apology. Left after trying to get a 2nd drink but found it hard to get served. Truly awful.

The two ladies working were lovely so a 5 star for them. However everything else was disappointing. We waited over 25 mins for a burger and cheesy chips. It was not very busy either. Wednesday deal build your own burger £5, so a good price. The burger was overcooked. Dimly lit which helped to hide the dust, and bits on the floor under the table. The worst was the visit to the ladies toilets. They are grim! It does not look like they have had a good scrub in a long time. The floors in cubicles were black. Lots of free parking. Level access. Good deals throughout the week. We won't be going back and do not recommend. Edit I did not mention onion rings in my review! There was a misunderstanding as they were not in the burger. Your timer is obviously not working correctly.

Not a bad place for a lunch meal, food was good little lacking on the service, barman needs to smile more and when someone says thank you the following normally comes with your welcome and not just silence. Locals drinking on a Monday lunchtime seem a little rowdy and the kitchen staff need to stay in the kitchen and not keep coming out and talking loudly with the bar staff. Seems like we might not fit with the crowd here got a lot of people staring at us but the food was OK, nice coffee just a shame the barman forgot to bring it to me. The rating is OK for a lowish-priced lunch also bar staff should state if they only have a drink in diet and not just expect everyone to be happy with diet.

Looking for a quick lunch after shopping, we stumbled on The Messenger. We both had the Hunters Chicken Baked Potato which had an excellent side salad. Absolutely amazing!! Never thought of that combination before, but a work of pure genius. Add a pint and a half, and a 15% voucher - £16.89... unbelievable value. Friendly and helpful staff made for a great visit.

Had a lovely lunch here on Saturday afternoon, 4 of us in a group . We had Hunters chicken & fish & chips with mushy peas. Food came out within 25 mins , lovely hot plates & food was delicious. Sport was on the tv & there was a great friendly atmosphere. Bar staff were friendly & welcoming. Would definitely recommend & return soon.

April, called in again today for a late dinner and a few pints of Thatchers Berry cider👍 We had the same dinners again👌 Gammon, eggs and chips, plus Hand battered Cod and chips. Lovely food again😋 Though inflation has got to their prices now, They have gone up slightly, but still very good value. Though it must of cost the company more money to reprint all the menus!😱 Still great value on comparison to other places to eat👍 January 5th 2024, 12.30pm We called in again for our dinner today, thought it would a lovely treat. We loved the food last time we visited, so we ended up ordering the same meals again👌👍😋 Had a lovely pint of Thatchers Berry cider, my partner chose an Earl Grey tea. She had Hand made battered fish and chips and I had the Gammon egg and chips meal. The service was brilliant again, food all freshly cooked, came out quite quickly, for a Friday dinner time. This is a massive venue! Lots of areas to sit and tables, stools and even a large outdoor area. And, they have a fantastic display of huge TV's, probably 4, that you can view from wherever you sit. So if your a sports fan? It's a great place to eat and drink and watch something. We had a very friendly greeting by the landlady at the bar. where we chose our meals from the 2 for £11.50 range. Gammon, eggs, chips tomato and peas, then for my partner, she had Hand battered Cod, chips and choice of peas and a side order of curry sauce. We helped ourselves to accompaniments from the side of the bar and headed back to our table. We chose a lovely Thatchers Dark Berry cider, which is a lovely pint! Plus a large cup of tea. Well in no time at all after sitting down and chatting, our meals arrived! My eyes lit up as the plate sizes were huge! Lots of food on each plate, which surprised me, for what it cost. The plates were piping hot, a good sign! The food was fantastic, very tasty. Best Gammon I have tasted for a very long time! My eggs were very hot and runny👍 chips were crispy and nice and hot too! My partner Hand battered Cod was simply delicious! Its like the batter just melted in your mouth😋 We was very impressed with the quality of their food, value for money was brilliant! We travel a lot, eat in different places and countries! Some places are disappointing, as you expect nicely prepared food, temperature hot, and tasty. I would recommend The Messenger to have food in, we will be leaving the dog at home more often and trying more from their menu. Well done to The Messenger cooks and staff👏👏😋😀 thank you.

Great food and atmosphere, little mistake happened between ours and the take next to ours orders but it was quickly rectified when the server realised the mistake with the 2 tables children's meals. Gammon cooked perfectly not dry like some places. Burger was lovely. Grilled halloumi was perfect, not over cooked either. Will eat here again next time we're in the area

Going down hill. Bar staff excellent and very friendly. Poor choice for vegetarians. Senior menu assumes no vegetarians over the age of 65 or whatever age classifis 'seniors'. Absolutely disappointed with the growing downward trend of this pub. Used to so good choice of food. So many items on the menu removed. No longer my go-to pub. Looks like something out of the 70s! Needs a major overhaul

This used to be a great spot for Sunday lunch, but things have taken a turn recently. While the staff and management may appear friendly to your face, there's a noticeable two-faced attitude—though there are a few exceptions. Instead of addressing any issues directly, they seem to use subtle tactics to make customers feel unwelcome, without having the decency to speak honestly. It’s disappointing and not acceptable. They certainly have a talent for spinning stories, though. If you’re looking for a place that greets you with a smile only to turn on you later—regardless of how regularly you visit—this place unfortunately leads the pack.

Incredible value food. Really tasty and a decent portion. Rooms are a bit odd in that they are accessed directly from the car park (old stable block) but otherwise great value for money!

I eat here regularly, there is always a good selection of "something different" on the special board which is amazing. They serve gluten free food as well, the food is always served hot, highly recommend. Danielle the manager and her staff are always polite and friendly.

Was very quiet when I went in late on a Monday evening. There was a big family having a meal and another table of friends enjoying some food. I received the last pizza from the kitchen which was nice enough.

Nice pub, stayed a for a few nights. Comfortable bed and a clean room. Food in the evenings was excellent. A little noise from the passing traffic but not that noticeable.

Stayed here a couple of times as its popular with the airshow set. Gets a bit expensive near RIAT time. Location is perfect and there is Aldi and Home Bargains very very close by. Food is served on the premises and is perfectly acceptable. All being well will he back next year.

Came in for light lunch, the burgers were massive, didn't think we'd finish them but we did. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Would come back again

Came here for Sunday lunch in the summer and it was lovely. One of our party is a wheelchair user and the staff were really proactive at making sure the ramp was clear etc. Super attentive staff, I believe the landlord was particularly attentive and really friendly. Vegetarian roast was delicious as was cauliflower cheese! Thank you!

Wonderful Sunday Roast. Best we have had in long time. In Swindon to meet up with family we found this pub by searching for somewhere baby and dog friendly. If we didn't live in South Wales I think we would be regulars. Thanks for a lovely meal.

We were day tripping out of Swindon for 8 days and went there 3 times ( would have been more but they were closed for a day ). The service was friendly and prompt, the owner and other patrons were very nice, but the food was outstanding! If they have the Lamb shanks on the menu you will be impressed they were delicious.

We had an awful experience. Appreciate it was a busy Saturday but the bar staff served 2 people ahead of us even though we had been standing waiting to be served for over 20 minutes! It was much better when it was table service.

Love it!!! You have to order the absolute passion, such a tasty drink, and the pulled pork fries were amazing and such good value for money. The mother clucker was also very decent.

When we first arrived, we were shown to a table. That threw me a little as it's my first time here, as we are not from Swindon. Once seated, we wanted to get a drink and then realised it was a table service. Which is good in a sense. You know your drinks will be safe, but it did take a little while before we were served. The waitress did give me a bit of a weird look, which made me feel uncomfortable, but after that, the service was good. They kept coming over and making sure all was OK. I liked it here, but you couldn't really hear each other talk. It's pretty loud. We were on a hen do with family, which I haven't seen in a while, but we were looked after. We were even moved to the back area where there was more room, and it was a little less noisy. There is also an area at the bottom of the bar where you can go and vape and smoke, which is great as it meant you didn't have to keep leaving the premises. The food was OK. We just had curly fries, but some were a little hard. But all good, though. The drinks were reasonably priced, it was buy two for a £10. So, five pounds each is not too bad. The loos were clean and tidy, too. Bonus. All in all, it was a decent place. Would I go again, yes!

Fancied a Sunday roast after a trip to Avebury. Rang on the off chance to see if they had space, they were very accommodating and squeezed us in with our little dog. The staff were very friendly, and the food was brilliant, we had sirloin beef roast, the portions were large and the beef was really tender. Will definitely be going again but will book next time as it was really busy and the restaurant was packed.

What an amazing pub. Food was fantastic! This is not the usual average pub and those images in google are not updated. The pub inside is lovely, the food is marvellous. Everything is fresh and homemade. Warm bread, ham, cheese, onion rings etc. were incredible. The service was attentive and we truly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Prices are reasonable for the quality you get. Honestly a great place for all the occasions, family meals or business dinners. WELL DONE!

Did the pizza and pasta deal on Monday which is excellent value. No drinks menu which is not good. Drinks were a bit pricey but to be expected I suppose. Overall quite good.

Amazing place; Fantastic manager/owner and staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, tidy and comfortable. Food is out of this world, definitely worth trying.

A warm greeting from the staff, the young lady was very tentived, not pushy at all, the Thursday Carvery was just so nicely cooked packed with amazing flavours, we will definitely be going back!

Such a shame this pub is not easier to get to without driving as this would make a great regular drinking hole. Will definitely visit again though.

April-2025: Lovely roast lamb dinner on Sunday with my friend having the pork. Giant yorkies with lovely home cooked vegetables and delicious gravy. Back there Monday for pizza and pasta night for £2.50 a dish or pizza with each drink.. Then again, on Friday with my niece and her family. Then, yet again, the following Tuesday with my sister and my brother-in-law. Definitely giving them a lot of custom, but well worth it now that I moved closer. May-2024 Another great meal at The Fox and Hounds in Wroughton. I had the chorizo with prawns in a white wine sauce with crusty bread (as a main), then my friends had a Southern Fried Chicken Burger with chips and the other who doesn't eat meat had the small Fish and chips with peas. They do a small vegan menu but not a vegetarian/meat-free menu, which is a pity as my non-meat eating friend likes proper cheese in meals (whether feta, mozzarella or cheddar for example) and proper butter made puff or short crust pastry for vegetarian based pies not all the vegan substitues. So, we may not frequent it as regularly as limited choice for her, unfortunately. Thoroughly recommend.

Dropped in for the Tuesday Jazz. Service was friendly and the pub was not overly busy. Jazz was great and we shall be stopping by again for sure.

I'd not been here before but wanted somewhere central for a meet up with a couple of friends. I couldn't be more happy with everything. Great cozy atmosphere, really nice decor, our waiter was Ryan and he was just lovely, perfect amount of attentiveness without being too much. The food was gorgeous, we all ordered different things and all were fabulous. Particularly recommend the oysters, scallops and hake. Great night all round, will be back very soon 😊

Updated review: Change in hands since we last came but still an amazing atmosphere and delicious food. Oysters are still here and delicious as always. Some great garnishs, particularly the Asian one. Food was phenomenal, with amazing flavours and combinations I hadn't had before. The presentation of it all and how it was brought out really brought it all together making it a lovely experience. Staff are very friendly and really show their passion in their food which doesn't feel gimmicky nor overwhelming but adds to a great restaurant experience. We will definitely be coming again. We want to try something else off the menu but I don't know, as I was won over by what we had!

The Royal Oak is a gem. Delicious, beautifully presented food, friendly attentive service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Every dish was full of flavour, and was amazing. Can’t wait to come back!

Great value food with the two-for -£22 mains deal, chips were great, good portion size, burger was really good too. Great service, quick and friendly, every member of staff made an effort to smile and say hello as we walked through the restaurant. The Long Island ice tea was lovely, but the star cocktail was the “Royal Oak” signature cocktail with cucumber, a revelation! Vibe was great, decor was really well done and the music was lovely even before the live band came on - who were amazing! Really talented jazz musicians. Highly recommend this place.

Really nice place to eat. There was a delay upon the starters as that was 45minutes. But you know it was all fresh. She was given a free glass of wine for my other half which was nice. Halloumi and camembert for starters. Surprisingly the camembert was not that salty and the halloumi was bouncy and nice with the sweet honey on it. Mushroom risotto and meat paella. My other half said the risotto was amazing and flavourful. My paella was rich and tasty. The desert was a little let down tasted frozen but was ok. My only main moan was the seat I was on. I was numb at the end but the staff were amazing.

Went for Sunday brunch and thought I would have eggs benedict and a my friend had eggs royal, she mentioned that when she was there on the two previous occassions and had the same brunch the eggs were very over cooked and the yolks were like hard boiled eggs, so please could she ask the chief to make sure they were soft yolks this time. She was very polite and even apologised for saying so. nWell breakfast arrived and every single yolk was hard, not a single soft yolk amongst them, coffee wasn't that hot either, so I am sorry but I cannot recommend going there for sunday brunch, unless you like luke warm coffee & hard poached eggs

Disappointed and Won’t Be Returning Visited The Arkell’s pub at Tadpole Garden Village today and was left very disappointed. The only food option available was pizza, and I went for the advertised deal: pizza and a pint for £15. I ordered three pizzas and paid at the counter. When I asked about the beers that should have come with the deal, I was told I didn’t ask for them when paying. I explained that I’d already paid for the deal and was standing right there the whole time — if they hadn’t taken the drink order then, they could easily do so now. The response? “Too late — you didn’t ask before paying.” No flexibility, no effort to fix their mistake. In the end, I had to pay nearly another £22 just to get the drinks I thought were already included. Honestly, this felt like a rip-off and poor customer service. No interest in resolving a simple misunderstanding. This was my first and definitely my last visit.

The food, I ate a pizza, was fantastic, tasty cooked well and presented beautifully. The service was first class and the waitress couldn’t have been more attentive, but there is something missing from a pub with no history. The atmosphere was lacking and I cannot quite say why. It’s perhaps the same reason why the new Mini pales in comparison to one from the 1970s despite being a technically better car in almost all areas. Something is missing, I don’t know what it is but it’s important to make a pub feel like a pub.

A wonderful evening out with super food and excellent service. Reservations are a must over the weekend as it gets very busy, however, despite how busy it was, we were served quickly by very attentive staff. The food was beautifully presented. The tacos were very good indeed. The bao buns were soft and fresh. The flat bread was delicious. The cheesecake was okay but, in my opinion, slightly bland and lacking in flavour. Reservations are a must over the weekend as it gets very busy. My only complaint was that a huge spider came in, which I trapped under a glass for it to be rescued, but, as I was looking for a member of staff to take it back outside, another staff member stamped on it and killed it. July 2024 update During the week, reservations are a must if you want to be guaranteed a table. Not because it's terribly busy but because all of the tables are seemingly 'reserved'. Once again, served very quickly with our drinks. This was closely followed by our food, which again was beautifully presented. The cheeseburger with additional bacon was deemed okay but not worth the money. The cod tacos were delicious and very filling. The fries were crispy and very moreish. Three drinks and two meals cost just under £50. At those prices, unfortunately, The Strawberry Thief, despite being very local, will definitely not be a regular drinking or eating establishment for me.

Great food and service good. Disappointed that our server was busy and unavailable when requesting the bill. Instead I tried attracting the attention of another server. I am.guesing this server has been allocated certain tables /section as despite serving the table next to us I was ignored when I hand my hand in the air and said 'excuse me'. Disappointing end to what would and should have been a great experience.

Really enjoyed my first time here definitely will be back for more yummy food. But its very expensive. Could not eat it all I got that full. I enjoyed it. Very nice friendly staff. This cocktail bar is so cool. I genuinely thought it was a real laundrette they disguised it so well! Loved the chilled jazz / 50’s music they were playing inside. It’s dark in the bar with low lighting, a real speakeasy vibe and there are so many cocktails to choose from. Some of the cocktails come with a theatrical extra from the waiters. Cocktails were tasty but some are VERY strong. You get your money’s worth which is always great. Would definitely recommend this bar and visit again.

Honestly a hidden gem in Swindon. Located up in Old town, it is an absolute must to go. Booking online is recommended and definitely worth it. The cocktails are creative and fun, you won't forget about your experience here in a hurry. Staff were all nice and accommodating.

We came here yesterday for the Bottomless Brunch Afternoon Tea. The cocktails were fantastic and there was a good selection and we got a whole teapot's worth for each cocktail. The food was great too with a great variety of snacks. It was fairly quiet when we went but the staff were lovely and very accommodating and we didn't need to wait very long at all. I would definitely recommend

On a pub crawl of old town this place was a must visit after seeing reviews. Where has the effort gone of making a cocktail look fancy ? Especially when paying £10 for a mouthful of drink.

Popped in for a quick beer on a walking trip around Swindon. Have passed this pub on a previous visit but did not visit, so decided to this time. A rotating selection of Eight cask ales and craft beers served. Did not eat on this occasion, as has eaten not long prior. However, food menu included for reference. Had a Liverpool Brewing (Organic) Chocolate and Vanilla Stout 5%, for £5.20. Worth popping in, if in the area.

Best pub in Swindon! Such a good range of ales, lagers and all others. Food is fantastic and staff are so lovely. Especially fond of the wheat beers.

Love this place, such a gem to have in Swindon. If you are into German and craft beers this is the place to be. The food is also amazing I mean you can have poutine here. It's a must trust me.

Went here for music gig by Ben Ottwell of the band Gomez. Arrived early and enjoyed some of the very fine selection of craft ales. I ordered the Reuben sandwich which was made with their home baked sourdough bread. It was generous in portion size and of excellent quality - really enjoyable. Staff were friendly and helpful and the gig was just superb. Will be keeping an eye out for future events.

Welcoming pub with excellent selection of beers. I wasn't sure which one to go for, so the barman gave me a sample of a couple of them to help me decide. Outside seating area - pretty good for the middle of town. Didn't try any food, so unable to provide a rating. Would definitely return.

Good selection of alternative draught and casks ales and ciders Burger and fries are good. The Mac and cheese we ordered was delivered barely warm and was flavourless pasta in a flavourless white sauce. Couldn't even tell there was cheese in it. No staff checked in on our meal. Wouldn't recommend the Mac one bit. Go for a burger.

A great place to get food and drink. I always look forward to seeing what special is on the menu. They make fresh bread Thu - Sat (loaves with interesting fillings). Lots of independent beer and cider to choose from. Most tables are 2 - 4 people but there are 2 larger ones for larger groups.

Several real ales on offer. In a nice venue with interesting items around the pub. There was live music advertised. Would visit again if I ever came back to Swindon.

23-March-25 - Just moved to Wroughton, and this is my closest pub, so having drunk in all the ones in the high street before I moved, I thought upon moving, I would give this ago. Today, I had a lovely roast pork dinner (I said no to the sweetcorn as its devil food and left the brussels sprouts as I dont like them either, but didn't hear it came with them). All-in-all, a lovely meal.

I had the Sunday lunch, very good value, the food was tasty, hot and the service was very good. The only things that let it down for me were the roast potatoes and the parsnips that were not cooked enough for me, and the plate had too much gravy on it, again, that's personal, I don't like my food swimming. Will be going again sometime as value for money is very good.

Garden is good but not the gambling inside. Never ordered food tho but the diet coke is amazing! Come here or else (a joking threat that would get me arrested.)

I had the takeaway Sunday lunch, i got the chicken wings to start and they where delicious. Then i had a roast with a trio of meats. The food was really top qualty, all home cooked stuff, and done really well. And the portions where enormous. Really excellent value for money.

New management has transformed this pub... our family now come every Sunday for , genuinely, the nicest eat out roast dinner I've ever had ... the cauliflower cheese is worldy and yhe leek and potato soup deserves an award!!!!! Highly recommended! Staff are a lovely family, we feel welcome and well looked after, we always save a little of our roast to take home and nibble on later in the eve... proper home cooked fresh ingredients and the carrot cake with ice cream is dangerous !!!

Good homemade pies - plenty of meat. No room for pudding which is a good sign. Vibrant interior. Busy so noisy as Christmas run up with parties. Would go back.

Loved our meal here! I explained to the staff that I would need to take food home before we ordered, and that was not a problem. The food was exceptional! The staff were so helpful and could not have done more, we will be back! My husband was a military chef and he stated this was the best roast he has ever had! Compliments to the chef, team and owners!

Despite the slightly cramped atmosphere for larger groups, the cozy ambiance and satisfactory seating arrangements are pluses. The staff's friendliness adds to the experience, although there is room for service improvement. With an average spending of £20 - £35 per person for a starter, main, and a drink, I am certainly looking forward to revisiting the place in the future. 😇

Walk in for 1 on a Friday, sat immediately. Waited a while for a drink order and a food order. Restaurant was busy so waited 30 mins for food. Worth the wait as food was delicious. Lamb shoulder. Jus was rich and mash was creamy. Large portion of veg on the side. Rhubarb pavlova was really nice. Just wish it wasn't in a Sundae glass .

The worst pub I have ever been to! Saturday night they are rude and no respect at all if you’re not a local person. especially the owner of the pub is the rudest person i have ever met! Try to avoid this pub at all costs there is a lot more better pubs around the area!

Usually my wife and I attend during the afternoon at the weekends and always find it a friendly atmosphere. Staff are always friendly and drinks are reasonably priced. Good for watching sport.

Update: - Gotta admit, this is the only place in Swindon playing the best tunes... '' Keeping Swindon Alive'' Keep banging out those tunes from the 80s and 90s <3 Love It <3

I will say; this is one of the best bars I’ve been in in Swindon. The service from Rhianna was brilliant; she was alone and managed to manage a busy group. She was amazing. She is a great bartender and I’d be happy to have her work on my team. You should be proud. Honestly, the bar is amazing. Get a chance go down.

Very popular old style public house. Serves a good range of beers and at very reasonable prices. Very popular with sports fans watching the many televisions of sporting events. Good pool table and darts board. Outside seating area and several booths for punters to sit together inside the pub. Live music on certain weekends with bands and/or dj's.

Great place with reasonably priced drinks and attentive bar staff. Toilets need a bit more bleach i think.

Wow wow wow what can I say, the food was amazing. Pulled pork tacos, fish tacos..crispy chicken wings, vegan chilli tacos… slow cooked beef briskets quesadillas. With a side order of yummy cocktails. This place is a hidden gem in old town right off Victoria road. Enjoy, you won’t regret it 🥰

Nightmare. Roaring Donkey used to be a place of great memories and fun. No jukebox and a real lack of service has turned this place into a shadow of itself. 20 minutes to get served a pint with a single member of staff working on xmas eve, I won't be returning until more staff are hired and the jukebox is back on the wall.... what a shame

The Donkey doesn't do food, but was disappointed to find that they didn't have any ales on draft. The atmosphere was just as good as it has always been.

Absolutely brilliant pub, this week Tracy supported our family by opening the pub for a wake. She was so accommodating, couldn't do enough for us, kept in contact with me for the arrangements to ensure everything went just as we wanted. I cannot thank them enough, the hospitality was brilliant, Its just a fantastic location for this type of event. Highly Recommended !!

Great pub love Tracy she is a wonderful landlady who really makes an effort with her customers. Beautiful sun trap garden and good drinks deal on a Thursday.

Despite a negative review this pub is my cheers bar. Both Tracy and Lucy have made this pub a place that a lone female can come and have a drink. Both these ladies run a pub the way it should be and make all welcome. They also host a fab quiz night!

Went in the morning so was operating as a cafe not a brew pub, felt like prices were quite high given the size of the coffees however the standard of coffee was higher than usual (£4.20 for a Mocha). You’re paying for where you are, could see myself popping back in here and there but definitely won’t be rushing to return.

Been here a few times now, bunch of lovely people serving every time I’ve been there and always up for a good chat about your day, interests and so on. Coffee is well worth the price and the cider is really moreish. Big up Ben and Henry, chill guys and make the best drinks. :)

Came for lunch. Service was slow and felt rushed. Both chose to upgrade to the 8oz sirloin form the lunch menu. Food was cold and steaks were not cooked as we had asked. Considering they were the same steaks, they looked completely different. Mine which was medium was very thin and extremely chewy. The other was medium rare and still had a lot of blood in the middle. When asking the waitress about it she said that they were definitely both the same steak and she quickly rushed off. Although we had told her about our unhappiness with the food we were not offered any discount or even an apology. Overall a bad experience in both food and service.

We get in and wait by the door for at least 10 minutes before we are seated and were quick to order we were anticipating a nice comforting dinner and I decided to order the bolognese of the kids menu with chips and a starter of garlic bread. We waited a comfortable 20 minutes for the starter another half an hour to get cold spaghetti watered down sauce with skinny chips. additionally, the staff run around like headless chickens. The only redeeming quality was dessert. Would not recommend 👎 so disappointing

The food from the new summer menu was very nice, and the chef accommodated my request to have the sauce on the side. We had particularly great service from Emilia S, who was very friendly and attentive to our needs.

Breakfast buffet selection was good. Prices reasonable. Coffee plain n smooth. Most of the staff friendly. Refilling the eggs,mushroom etc took ages. The people already waiting took their share n now I'm still waiting so ended up without mushrooms n eggs. The scrambled egg looked pale and unappetising. The black pudding lacked firmness...deep frying it isn't great. All in all, still the best all you can eat breakfast buffets around.

Had a lovely evening meal and 2 breakfasts whilst spending a weekend at the Premier Inn. Food was lovely and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Special mention to Courtney who was very efficient filling up the juice and food serving dishes as soon as they were empty nothing was too much trouble. Will look forward to our next stay there.

Was fortunate to have an excellent breakfast at this beefeater this morning..Food was hot fresh and excellent. Karen was inviting attentive and very helpful clearly committed to give all her customers the best experience.. Undoubtedly the best Premier inn breakfast I’ve ever had and I have had a few. Well done to all the staff.

Love the food and service at this Beefeater, the staff are super attentive but without being intrusive every time I visit. The food is delicious and cooked exactly how I ask for. The portions are of a decent size but I always ask for an extra portion of chips purely because I like to feel full. The food never takes long to get from ordering to serving. The breakfasts in the morning are all laid out and you just help yourself to whatever you want, I usually have toast or crumpets with sausages, bacon and beans, again, everything is cooked how I like it. I really cannot fault or criticise this beefeater.

We have started eating here on Sundays regularly as it is a very pleasant friendly place, the food is lovely and good value for money, I would definitely recommend it to everyone

Came here for the first time tonight with my family for the quiz, it was such a laugh and just what I needed. Owner makes you feel very welcome and it’s clear how much she loves running this pub. I love that there is lots of events on here and I can’t wait to go to them, I’ve recently moved to the area and I have been looking for somewhere like this. If you’re looking for a lovely, friendly pub then give here a try. Darts, pool table and Outside is beautiful also, and I can’t wait to sit out there in the summer. Thank you for a lovely night. The Brown Jack is a fantastic pub, atmosphere is great, drinks and food very reasonably priced and the staff go over and above to make sure everyone has a good experience there.

Table of 5 booked for Sunday lunch We were seated in the restaurant which was clean and tidy with table clothes, clean cloths and napkins We were about to go to the bar and order drinks and then the waitress said she would take our drink order, which was pleasent of her but because we couldn't see what drinks were available it was a slight guessing game and we felt as if we were kept away from the bar area Drinks were brought to our table quite quickly however the pint of cider wasn't full to the brim of the glass. We were expecting menus of the food available to be on the table but there were none I had also tried looking on the pubs website and Facebook page for menus and couldn't find any either Instead we had to listen to waitress reel off the menu to us stood there with pad and paper in her hand One member of our party is a little hard of hearing so found it difficult. 2 chicken 1 lamb 1 beef 1 beef and gammon Orders were placed and after a short wait the food arrived, plates hot, food hot looked good, standard meat and 4 roast potatoes on plate, veg in large serving dish and 2 gravey boats arrived Looked nice but meat very thinly sliced potatoes were seasoned and well cooked veg was green beans, cabbage and carrots again no seasoning. Gravey was thick and plenty of it but chicken even for the lamb and beef dinners Also no stuffing with the chicken and a slight hiccup with the Yorkshire puddings due to no fault of the staff, however homemade fluffy hot Yorkshire puds arrived. Again no menu for the deserts but 4 deserts ordered and very nice they were too 👌 Over all not a bad Sunday roast few niggles would we rush to go back again no not really Staff very friendly and eating area clean and tidy

Fabulous beer selection. Very well kept. But when it was my turn to be 'Des" the price of a pint of Soda and a dash of lime drove me to drink. Great pub though, full of character!

Popped in here for the first time on Friday. Nicely packed with friendly faces all around. Service was fast and prices were good. It was karaoke, so I was in my element lol. Haven't this at home in a pub since The Flag days. Tracey you've got a great little place and we'll be back soon.

Just had a wonderful Sunday roast, fantastic food and service, so lovely to see tablecloths nowadays and Easter decorations a lovely touch. We will recommend to all our friends and we will definitely be back

Stayed one night in a twin room. It might not be the flashiest hotel but it’s comfy and clean. We didn’t stay for breakfast (rather wish we had reading the reviews) but the hotel seemed quiet and when we got back from the wedding we attended at 10pm the place had closed up for the night which surprised us. It could do with a slight bit of TLC externally but flowers are a nice touch. That said I wouldn’t put anyone off and I would 100% return. Very peaceful nights sleep and comfortable bed too.

I mean…WOW although the menu looks basic, food was amazing, very fresh, and very good quality. I ordered the lamb and I have never tasted the lamb so tender, and my partner ordered the steak, and he loved it. This is gonna be my favourite place for now so far!! Only one FOH staff for the whole evening, and he was very friendly, managed everything very well, very impressed he has done everything himself no matter how busy is it.

The four of us had a lovely dinner here tonight. The tavern is quiet and classy. The service is professional and friendly. The food (lamb, salmon, chicken, blue cheese brulee) was all excellent. Nice wine list, and prices are very reasonable. So glad to have dinner here and would absolutely recommend.

Interesting twist to the dishes in this place. We had the creme brulee savoury starter, possibly not fully our thing, but nice to see something different being tried. Salmon was both generously sized and perfectly cooked, I had the duck, again, it was well cooked and delicious. A theme around this part of the world is nice buildings to eat in, this was no exception.

My wife and I decided to stay the night at a ‘local’ pub/hotel as we were visiting the RIAT 2025 air show and it was a 2.5hr drive away from our home, so we decided to travel down the night before. The Eagle Tavern looked like it fitted the bill for a quick stay over, cosy, very English, in the Cotswolds. What could be better as a great starting point for our planned outing. WRONG . . . . . . . The cost of a ‘room-only’ stay had been inflated to £142 for the night, (due to the air show), a bit pricey, but I wanted to give my wife and I an easy early start to our planned day trip, so I reluctantly paid it, in the interests of ‘planning for a good day’. Oh dear! The room was very dated, the layout of the room was very questionable, the mattress was absolutely, (pardon my French), ‘shagged’ !! It was the worst nights ‘sleep’ my wife and I had ever had!! We got up earlier than we really wanted to, made a cup of tea, (in the outdated kettle etc), and because we weren’t having breakfast, we decided just to have the complimentary biscuits that accompanied the tea making facilities. Two out of the four were SOFT!! Heaven knows how long they had been in the room. Not a good experience, they need to update the rooms, update the fittings, replace the mattresses and remove unnecessary furniture, i.e. the ‘casting couch’. Not happy.

Tonight we're doing blue cheese brulé. Inspired by a fab meal we had here a while back. Food service and everything was pretty much perfect...

We just went to have dinner at the Eagle Tavern and the food was great with a very cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. I highly recommend it

Review for pub only - this is oddly hard to find, as the Pub is called The New Inn (plot spoiler it isn’t) but Google Maps only has it as Elderbrook House and a hotel. Maybe it is that as well, but this review is for the pub, which someone had happened to tell us was there. It was very quiet when we were in there, so hard to judge on atmosphere. A limited range of beers, staff were friendly enough though. A small garden out the back but not hugely family friendly. Overall fine without being earth shattering.

Ben and Cody couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. A lovely friendly atmosphere, delicious homemade food (try the puddings!!!). Perfect for our walking trip to the Ridgeway. Spacious room, generous breakfast, and a good location. Would highly recommend.

We stayed a night here with our 4 month old and the family room was very sweet with a giant spacious bathroom and amazing bathtub! The breakfast was really lovely and we felt well cared for and was in a perfect location to then go to Avebury stone circle and other attractions

A charming little pub nestled in the stunning countryside of Winterbourne Monkton. Just a scenic 30-minute walk from Avebury. The homemade food is delicious, made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and lovely, making us feel right at home. We’re already looking forward to our next visit and would definitely recommend this place to all!

Cozy and romantic accommodation with super friendly and helpful hosts (Codie, Ben and Maya the dog). The rooms, gardens and communal areas are very comfortable with a homely touch. We were made to feel very welcome. The breakfast was delicious and generous. The ground floor room with patio doors was perfect for us and our dog. It is lovely to stay in a place with such a personable and human touch. I really recommend staying here if you are in the area.

Lovely little inn in the English countryside. Excellent for visiting the stones at Avebury which is just a few minutes away. The owners are very present, responsive, excellent attention to detail. Would happily return if we have the chance.
