The 17 best coffee shops and best cafes in Mountain View

They have different types of crepes - savory and sweet. For savory crepes / sandwiches, they're all close to $20 with some types of protein. Overall their food is pretty good, however it's overpriced. About half of their salads on the menu don't come with protein and are already $17. Adding meat brings the salad to over $23 without tax. If you get a non-alcoholic drink, with tax and tips, expect to spend almost $30 for just for a salad with protein and a beverage. After being here a few times, service is hit or miss, depending on who you get. Today we had to ask for at least 3-4 times to our waiter for the same thing. When nothing was brought to us, we also went inside to the counter to ask and was told they'll bring it out. Finally asking for 6 times, then they bring out what we need. In addition, their people don't pay much attention. I've seen waitresses just brought out the food without looking around carefully for the table number and then just went back inside. The food gets cold easily when they go back-and-forth with the food like this. They do have a nice outdoor seating area, especially at a corner lot. Castro is closed off, so it's comfortable to sit outside with nice weather.

The best thing about this place is the ambiance and the staff. They are decked out for the seasons. The food honestly isn’t all that special. It’s below average. Definitely doesn’t match up to the price. Not worthy of a to go box. They didn’t even offer to refill our regular cup of black coffee. To be fair we’ve never gotten the crepes. But we have gotten the seasonal menu items, as well as regular sweet and savory options.

Wanted to try out savory crepes as a proper meal instead of having crepes as dessert. The choice for the savory crepes are interesting with names such as Milano, Tuscany or Bombay which is an indication of the savory fillings for the crepes. In summary, the concept is nice but both my friend and I still think that it is better to have crepes as a sweet snack due to the flimsy texture of a crepe 😊.

A nice dog friendly spot for lunch. We were glad to see they’ve expanded their outdoor seating, since we’ve liked their food but stopped going when they gave up their parklet spot last year. It’s now back! The portions are very large, so this time we split a Philly crepe, they gave us an extra plate. It was the right call. They have very good Sangria. They even brought out water for our dog.

My wife and I either go here or the one in Willow Glen area. I usually get the salmon crepe or Benedict but this time, I wanted something different. I tried the eggplant, grilled veggies and cheese sandwich on focaccia bread with fries and salad. My wife got the chicken club, fries and salad. What can I say??? The sandwich was huge!!!!! Very tasty eggplant and veggies- not a lot of salt, which is a good thing for me. I couldn’t finish it, just too much good stuff. My wife enjoyed her chicken club and couldn’t finish it too. Her friend (not pictured) got a salad and enjoyed it - can’t remember which. Always a treat to come here and enjoy great food!

Tried the Florentine savory crepe, heavy and a bit soggy, not a favorite. The Tri-Berry crepes were tasty, but served too early, so the ice cream melted. The Blackstone Eggs Benedict was bland and just okay. The sides, diced fried potatoes and sweet potato fries were good.

Tried the savory crepe – California : 5/5 ⭐️ The crepe and filling were absolutely delicious 😋 Only downside: longer wait time on weekends. But still, definitely a must-try breakfast spot! 🌞🍽️

It’s very local and special and welcoming place. Especially the second floor seating, ic you want to write a poem, school paper, or a short story. Coffee is delicious and the atmosphere perfect for a sunny or a rainy day. They have also open mics on Saturdays.

The two main things that work for red rock coffee are its location and its timing. Bang in the middle of Castro Street and open till 8 PM, if you want to work in a cafe later in the day, this is a good spot. That’s free, Wi-Fi and plenty of Desk to work from. Almost everybody, I saw in the cafe was working. They also have an event venue on the second floor, but I did not end up Checking it out. I went on a Saturday evening, and there was only one barista. He seemed a little overwhelmed, but was still patient and kind. The coffee itself was quite mid though. Somehow felt a little watered down and not as strong as I prefer them to be.

A great to strike up your first meeting. Conveniently located beside a parking lot, which also is almost always full, though. Love the spaced out ambience and their liking towards arts.

I used to like staying at RR during Saturdays because the latte tastes rich and there are many seats on the second floor. However, I waited for 30mins just for a same old latte this time, and was very, very disappointed that there’s no explanation on why they forgot my order or why it took so long. They just gave it to me like nothing was messed up. I understand that baristas might get busy, but I’ve standing there ALL THE TIME waiting. Even some other customers noticed that I’ve been waiting for so long and said “good luck” to me. If I didn’t ask in the end, I would probably never get my latte. The unreasonable waiting has ruined my day, and now I only wish I didn’t tip for this drink.

Absolutely delicious Honey Lavender latte. Lots of people working remotely here, especially on the 2nd floor. Would recommend!

Great place..coffee was great..not costly at all...parking space behind the building.

The Gibraltar was my first and it was spectacular. Rich, velvety, smooth…. I felt downright decadent and indulged. All while standing in a very standard comfortable neighborhood coffee shop. The service was excellent and subtle. The coffee was perfect. It was just the right size, just the right amount of bold. I felt like Goldilocks - this coffee fit me just right.

Went in to try the viral Tres Leches cake and i was not disappointed. It was yumm! Delicious flavors and super moist, served dipped in condensed milk (i guess). We also tried the baklavas. They were great too! Would go back for savory dishes next time.

Good stop to sit outside and enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The food is decent. Our BF was mostly tomatoes, onions, and peppers. Not much spices besises salt. If you are in the mood of simple food, this can be your spot.

Nice place in downtown MV. Multi-cuisine restaurant. We went for Turkish breakfast. The food was okay. We also went for German beers in the evening. They have good collaboration of german beers. The pretzel was yummy with melted cheese.

Wow. One of the best Weiner Schnitzel made with real veal and the breading is thin not thick resulting in a very crispy dish. To try.

The breakfast food was quite bad. We got the french toast and pancakes; they basically didn’t have any flavor outside of the generic syrup on top. Texture wasn’t good either, not fluffy or crispy. I’ve had much better at home from a box mix, and I’m not a good cook. The turkey bacon and sausage were better, cooked fresh but extra charge on top of the entree. Outside seating is nice, but not enough to make up for the food unfortunately.

Everything was perfect! The food was delicious, and the outdoor seating was very relaxing with fresh air and a spacious atmosphere. Highly recommend!

It's ok, for the price we expected a bit more. Especially the extra $3.25 to add avocado and there was less than a tablespoon added to the dish. Came here with a group for brunch. I had a chicken Caesar salad which was just okay. My husband got a BLT. Fries were fine. Breakfast and eggs are probably the best thing to get here and overall solid diner food.

Horrible. Ordered a Medium Ribeye, but instead got a way over seasoned & over cooked chewy round or chuck steak. Baji's uses be good, but their food quality has gone way down. Server was nice, not his fault.

I just walked into the best home cooked breakfast, so much food, I had to take a nap between finishing my meal, the food reminds me of my breakfast as a kid on Saturday and Sunday morning, prepared with love!

We ordered pancakes (2 stack) with strawberries & chocolate stuffed in it. They were delicious and really big portions. Vegetarian Omelette was also a huge portion with hash brown and a lot of toast. The food was delicious and the service was excellent!! The ambience was nice and just like a breakfast place should be. Their shake was also yummy and their coffee was one of the good ones I’ve had.

Worst steak I had in a while at breakfast places. Too much black pepper, salty and taste like paperboard. Fries are dull too. Do not recommend.

Horrible food and atmosphere. The owner and his son are always inside eating. The televisions are about 30 years old and the waiters are rude. The food is like a knock off hobbes. Disgusting.

Lovely spot. Lots of delicious, unique pastries to choose from. We got breakfasts sandwiches that were also delicious, I had the salmon avocado toast and my husband had the ham and cheese croissant. He didnt love his coffee. I did like my matcha and the apple croissant. Friendly staff and nice seating area.

I've been to Alexander's Patisserie several times, and they truly are a good place to visit if you're looking for well-decorated and beautiful desserts. They taste good as well and are primarily mousse based which some people may prefer. The price is a bit steep, but you can see the quality and craftsmanship in their desserts so I don't think it's too expensive for what they sell. Staff is helpful but has spilled several of our drinks when serving them at the table. The seating area is often full and crowded and can't accommodate large groups, but you could also try to sit outdoors. The indoor dining also is a bit messy as people are constantly coming in and out. It's a classic spot for a hot drink and a dessert, and I definitely frequent Alexander's when I'm in the area!

We were visiting Music on castro event on Castro Street, Mountain View, and stopped here on a whim. We are so glad we did. We loved visiting Alexander's Parisserie. Such a bright, vibrant place. We ordered espresso, blueberry lemonade, fleur-de-pistache, and harmony pastries. Highly recommend blueberry lemonade and especially fleur de pistache. Delicious, rich, and decadent!! Very friendly service as well. There is a parking lot on Castro street and if you're lucky, street parking is available too.

Very fancy patisserie. We tried Maison Alyzee across the street before, nd now we came to try out their direct competitor. I would say both have their own strengths. The pastries here are also so good. They were not only eye candy but also very delicious 🤤 we ordered Eclairs and Tiramisu! Both were really tasty. They also offer single purchase or in boxes for the chocolate. I got one for my son, but he was so quick in eating it that I couldn’t take a picture 🥴

The Bread Pudding in a Jar was meh; it tasted like apple pie on bread. The description sounds way fancier than it tasted. I would not recommend this dessert.

I like to support neighborhood coffee shops. This one had a relaxed, collegial and down-to-earth vibe. The pleasant smell of coffee wafted in the air. The baked good pickings looked slim but we were there for an after-lunch espresso/macchiato. With the spring-like weather it was nice to hangout curbside. There were 2 other pairs of friends catching up at the other cafe tables on the sidewalk. We were lucky to try this place out as the operating hours are 8-2pm. (and we sometimes lunch late, phew) The server kindly let me change my order from a cappucino and macchiato and going from a single to double.

The coffee bean taste and aroma are evident with every sip, offering a fresh sensation. I like their balance of cappuccino —it’s foamy yet doesn’t overpower the espresso. Local, casual, relaxed vibes inside makes you feel like your go-to neighborhood coffee shop. Plenty of seats, with some outdoor seating available when weather permits. Baristas are friendly too.

Those guys deserve 5 stars! Latte has a great mild taste, not burnt or bitter at all. They use medium roast for their expresso. The gent at the register, barista, and the owner are all lovely people. After Australia I cannot drink coffee in most USA shops since coffee in most places is horrible. Thankfully I found this place.

If I am in the area, I have to get their coffee. I have tried the Brasil roast which was great and now trying the House blend. You get a free cup of coffee with a pound of beans purchased.

Good coffee. It's fairly subtle in flavour, but still complex. Pretty cheap compared to other coffee shops out there as well. No indoor seating here though, so that was a bit of a letdown. There's some tables and chairs outside, but it's right next to the street, so the vibe isn't there. Otherwise, great service and short lines. This spot is decent for a quick grab-n-go

Dana Street Roasting is by far the best coffee roaster in the South Bay. If you buy beans with a "roasted on" date, this is the definitive place to buy freshly roasted beans. They custom pack so you don't have to buy prepackaged sizes. You can custom mix if you like (I do a half caffeine mix so I can enjoy doppio with a single shot caffeine hit). They have an excellent selection of beans, the roasts are not burned (even dark roasts), prices are very competitive, and the roaster is right there for you to see. Best I have experienced in the entire Bay Area. Highly recommended.

I’m writing this review with a heavy heart. As a regular customer, this café used to be my favorite spot for desserts and coffee as it truly stood out in the area. Unfortunately, something seems to have changed over the summer. Many of the desserts in the display case looked old, and the chocolate tart I ordered was clearly not fresh. The cake bottom was stale and you could actually see the stale oil and cracks around the edges of the slice. On top of that, our coffee was served in chipped cups, which is simply unacceptable for a high-end café like this. The outdoor tables were dirty and appeared to be neglected, and the place seemed noticeably understaffed. Overall, it was a disappointing experience today. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and works toward restoring the quality and service that once made this place so special.

The chai latte is a mild version, with less spices, not too sweet, I enjoyed it on that cold evening. The vegan banana muffin was not too dense/dry and quite fluffy, I had a couple of bites and went home, my cat devoured it when I steeped away, lol. Cute spot with WiFi, all the baked goodies look fabulous. While grateful for a vegan option, if traditional bakeries put a little effort they could offer more interesting plant-based options. If you’re a professional with that level of expertise, it’s should be an interesting quest, there are many multiple vegan bakeries in Los Angeles, Paris and other cities. Check them out

Located at a pedestrian only street with seating both indoor and outdoors. Their coffee(mocha) was pretty delicious. The area is very kid friendly, esp with it being pedestrian only street, the kids can walk around. The staff and service were kind.

Croissant was underwhelming - not flaky, not crispy, not fresh and didnt smell buttery or tempting. The small pastry “black lady” was good. Staff wasnt friendly or patient at all while the display didnt explain what half of the items were…

Nice place. Both the mocha and latte were good, smooth and not burnt. They offer a wide range of cakes and pastries, we tried the almond croissant, and it was delicious.

A cosy cafe with an awesome view and ambience! Just by the lake side. The food wasn’t great though. We had a turkey club sandwich which was a little dry. Eggs Benedict was good. Chilli scramble wasn’t as tasty either.

While waiting, the door swung open and hit us, and there was no immediate reaction or apology from any staff member. This lack of awareness and regard for customers was quite disappointing. 🤔 Overall: American Bistro has a great location and ample seating, making it a good spot if you're looking for a convenient place near Shoreline Lake. However, the slightly high prices and the concerning lack of staff awareness during the door incident made the experience just "okay" for me.

The food was decent and perfectly edible, but I came here for more than just a meal — I needed a place to get some work done. Working here with a view of the lake was an absolute pleasure. The surrounding nature is stunning, peaceful, and truly inspiring. A great spot if you want to combine light work with a beautiful, relaxing environment.

Beautiful area to walk around and to sit and look at. That’s the main highlight of this bistro is sitting snd looking at the water and planes fly by. Food was priced at what you’d expect but the overall taste was not too impressive. My double decker club was average. Meat was a little dry. My friend had Eggs Benedict and one egg was done right and the other was over done. I would recommend the Brussels sprouts with the gochujang sauce, but I think it was seasonal so might not be there if you go. Service was semi friendly taking our order but then they don’t attend to you after that. Regular drip coffee is about $4 (3.75 I think) but no free refills. I’d go back for a coffee and maybe a pastry but might pass on food.

A nice spot to have lunch or a drink and watch folks out on the small lake. My wine country chicken and Brie toasted sandwich was quite good. Prices seem reasonable given the location.

atmosphere was lovely, there was some workplace having a bbq kind of social event nearby so they were playing fleetwood mac non stop which I adored. the service was lovely. but the bread was rock hard with mine and my friends food like genuinely hurt our gums. BUT the rest of the food was gorg and the service was incredible <333 love from england

I love coming here for breakfast. It’s in a great location inside the Shoreline Park area. The menu items are superb and what better way to fuel up before heading out on a nice long hike. 👍😎

The 9/23/2024 Panera Bread 1035 El Monte Ave Mountain View, CA 94041 Went there for the onion soup and got the soup and tuna sandwich combo. It's in a large MTV plaza with lots of parking that can get full. It's a clean and modern setup where you order then get your name called. Service was very good. The soup was okay, likewise for the sandwich. Maybe repeatable.

Feel ripped off. $14 for 2 tablespoons of tuna and pile of lettuce? No thanks. And this is the 3rd time this has happened. We’re all hurting in this economy, give us what we pay for and stop trying to rip us off

Great for breakfast or bringing a pastry for co-workers. They have a nice bread selection, the egg tart is tasty and salads or sandwiches are good. Service is nice. There is an outside place to eat, almost park-like among the trees. Had lunch recently, tuna sandwich had a nice sourdough bread, not dry. Caesar salad was a nice complement to it.

Best Panera for working/studying throughout the day. Plenty of seating locations (inside and out). Unlimited sip club is great. Service is great. Food comes out fast and fresh. Although not fancy, I really like panera’s selection of healthy affordable food. App is great for ordering and seeing clear nutritional/calorie menu information (even for customizations). Staff makes an effort to make sure tables are clean and cleared. Chill atmosphere. Feels almost like a local community hub with the variety of people coming in (families, groups of teens, elderly & middle aged, old friends catching up).

Great selection of baked goods, sandwiches, coffee and more. Danish, coffee cake, cinnamon roll especially good. Daily coffee program a nice addition. Friendly efficient staff. Order for pickup inside or brought out to you. Nice outdoor seating area when available.

The Peet’s store management! I’m writing the review right here in the store. The tall young man was very rude and not ready to work. We felt very bad. I confirmed his name, but won’t leave it here. MV store manager should verify who he is and fix it. I won’t come back. Feel very uncomfortable.

Not a huge fan of the coffee, it's overly bitter and tastes horrible. This location is nice and spacious though with lots of seats, electrical outlets and a bustling atmosphere. Not a bad place to sit and work for an hour or so!

I’m a daily Uber and Lyft driver and usually start my mornings early—with a cup of Peet’s. I genuinely love Peet’s Coffee, but I have to be honest: this location is one of my least favorites. While I appreciate the convenience of being able to order online (especially to avoid unnecessary interaction), the service at this store continues to fall short. The staff often seem more focused on socializing with each other than attending to customers. For example, I had to wait just to get honey because they were talking amongst themselves and ignoring those waiting. That’s simply unacceptable. I also pay attention to small details, and I’ve noticed that other Peet’s stores handle things more thoughtfully. At this location, the honey is kept behind the counter and not stored well—it’s often crystallized, which reflects poor maintenance. Unfortunately, even when I try to avoid issues by ordering ahead, the lack of customer service still comes through. I remain loyal to Peet’s overall, but this particular location continues to be a frustrating experience.

Don’t order the low fat scone with peach and berries. I ordered on the app and picked it up on Castro street MV. It’s 98 percent dough and I got one small piece of peach and no actual berries but painted on purple juice instead of fruit. I’m not getting that again until they update the ingredients I forgot my phone but picture six dough pieces on a Peet’s bag that I returned to the employees so they know for the future.

I was very late and ordered a medium coffee. But after waiting for about 20 minutes, I still hadn't received my order. Unfortunately, I had to leave disappointed. Well, in general, the interior design is done with taste, and they have good prices

LOVED Specialty’s when I worked downtown SF- was thrilled to find this location. Parking is ample, lots of space to sit indoors & out w good lighting. Peet’s coffee shop in shared space is fire. Thai spicy salad was good - just not outstanding. I think I’ll stick the sandwiches for future lunches. My fave cookie is wheat germ chocolate chip. They had a good selection of baked good even just 2 hrs before closing. Also some day old 50% off. Service was super fast, friendly

Moderately expensive sandwich place with a Peet's coffee station in a different area of the cafe. Good varied selection to choose from. However note that they do not take cash! You pay using credit or debit card only. Also the paper receipt I got had faded ink so some places so be careful if u need it for business reimbursements. They give you an indicator which will light up when your order is ready and you have to come by to pick up your order. You can get free regular water from a fountain tap or buy the bottled water or other drinks. Sandwich I got was of moderate size and tasted fine. They have outdoor tables with overhead umbrellas to shade against the sun.

Chinese Chicken Salad...pretty good, just wish there was more chicken on it. It's a big salad so you'll need an extra dressing.

Wonderful treats. Really loved the spinach and egg croissant - hot and fresh. The apple twist was nice overall but had a strange aftertaste.

Okay, so I thought all of the Specialty's closed, I was definitely surprised when a friend said let's go to this one, lol. Overall it wasn't bad and I am glad that I was able to go again because it's been many years since I've been to some of the other locations, I used to visit the ones in downtown San Jose. Anyway, this was pretty solid, but I'd say not as good as I remember. Prices are (as with everything) up across the board and I felt like the return of investment isn't as good here as it used to be, especially since you have to buy everything a la carte. Overall, I'd come back if I wanted a sandwich in the area, but I feel like I wouldn't go out of my way to visit. Maybe a solid 3.5, IMO.

Wonderful friendly staff. Super clean, beautiful ambiance. Food is delicious and so is the coffee. The patio is beautiful. I will definitely be coming back soon! It’s a great family friendly place where you can watch the vta from the window. Parking is very easy as it has its own lot that includes designated curbside pickup areas.

I came here to get coffee grounds for composting. Most Starbucks have these set aside in a basket in the cafe area for people. The coffee grounds can also deter gophers and rodents because of the smell. The baristas were helpful with pointing the grounds basket out. This Starbucks is very busy because it’s on a main road. The line for the baristas stretches to the door and people looked grumpy…maybe it was just morning time and everyone needed their caffeine fix? The tables looked quite full. Once you talk to the people, they are nice. Overall there’s a friendly vibe in a residential area. 3 stars is decent - There’s nothing wrong - it’s ok. It’s a good thing to have a line and crowded - it means that people want your product. 1-2 stars is some issue…5 stars is hard to get and depends on the reviewer’s personal taste as well. No worries! ☺️ Keep doing what you are doing! Starbucks is making big bucks and even composting! 🌟

Just ordered 2 large Lavender cream oat milk matcha with no ice. Both of them came in paper cups and I didn't get a chance to know that both drinks had ice (half the cups filled with ice) in them even though I specified to not have ice. The drink is done very poorly comparing to other Starbuck branches around the area.

The service was so slooowww. I ordered a chocolate croissant and latte and I waited for at least 15 minutes. And all the drinks were just waiting at the counter with no one calling out names. There’s some operational problem.

I walked in offered to pay money for a cup of ice and Syra if im spelling her name right wouldn't sell me a cup of ice for the beverage I bought at the Safeway next door. Most Safeways have a Starbucks inside of them and have no problem offering a cup of ice for any beverage. This Starbucks is directly next door to the Safeway and the Hispanic lady was giving me a hard time about a cup of ice even when I offered money.

Quite possibly the worst Starbucks I've ever been to! Staff that are too busy to bother serving customers, giving the attitude of they really can't be arsed. Food that you'd not feed to a starving dog. Outside tables but almost no chairs to sit on (seven tables and about five chairs in total)... The only saving grace was the coffee was fine (once the waitress bothered to make it (I had to remind her after waiting for nothing to happen)... Glad I'm not likely to be a regular at this one!

Standard Starbucks outlet. Good location at the junction of El Monte Ave & El Camino Real. Small but adequate seating area. Open 7am to 6pm daily. This December (2023) you pay half rate for drinks on all Thursday afternoons. Common parking in shopping complex is generally available.

It's true that Matcha lattes are very popular at Starbucks, and California is no exception. It's a common observation, and you're not wrong to notice it!

I get a drink from here at least once a week and the baristas don’t make it correctly, way too often. I get a very simple drink and often times there is way too much milk and no cold foam. I’m so tired of asking them to remake it and getting weird looks that today I just took it and drove to a different Starbucks and bought a whole new one and they made it correctly. I don’t know if your baristas just don’t care or what is going on but this is really disappointing as a customer and a former barista.

So far the worse experience I've ever had. These new compostable cups should not be used for refreshers. I asked for light ice in a venti cup and I took two sips and my drink is completely gone.

This is the so-called Venti Size. The service in this shop is terrible. I ordered the Venti size Java chip Frappuccino, and the other cup is very small. She only gave me half a cup for no reason and no refund. Many shops have very good services, only this one has the worst service. Resolutely will not come again.

The slowest Starbucks I've ever been to. Waited 25 minutes for a simple cold brew. If you want to hang out without a drink, this is the place to go.

When the Starbucks is completely empty but the staff just cannot be bothered to take the croissant out of its plastic packaging before putting it inside a separate paper bag and giving it to you 🙃

The Matcha classic has 5 rating, it's super delicious and fast service too. The point deduction was because there were clutter iin one part of the store. I love their Holloween decorstion though. The service was friendly although the employee was rushing. I highly recommend this…

This is the best boba shop we've ever been to. The quality of the drinks is absolutely fantastic, and they have a perfect balance of flavors. The brown sugar drinks have a distinct, amazing and unique flavour that we've never tasted at other shops before. The staff is incredibly friendly and efficient, and making sure your order is perfect. Plus, the location is super convenient, making it my go-to spot whenever I'm in the area. I can't recommend this place enough!

I love the food, and the service is really good! Normally it takes like 5-10 minutes for the boba or your food to be ready. The only thing I don't like is the seating options. There are only like 3 tables with 2/4 chairs each. There's a lot of random teens that trash the area too so I recommend that you eat it at home or at a park. Since the food is so good I would give it 5 stars.

1st time here. Ordered the Tai Bob with honey pearls. It was really good and the sweetness level was just right. Not too sweet at all. Right in the middle. And the was just right. Just enough to make it cold. Staff was friendly and helpful in making my selection. Definitely going back. It was busy, justifiably so and staff was quick to fill orders.

A great spot for a boba treat. I always get hot tea, but the school rush on hot days leads me to believe that the iced teas are worth a try. The customer service is great. Also there are discounts for bringing your own cup & straw.

I believe Cafe 86 is a Filipino dessert / coffee shop, with Ube as the central theme. I was not familiar with them, however my Filipino mate spoke highly of them. So I had to scope it out... Very, very good! Be mindful, if you get a bit too curious it adds up. $$$ This venue is cozy, not a lot of seats inside, mostly standing room and a few bar seats. Parking in downtown MV is a bit a bit challenging at peak times, so you might have to make a bit of a walk. Two young gals were running this place, sounded like they were enjoying their time here. Both of them were quick and efficient...Kudos gals! #UbeTreats: ~ Halo Halo: Upside Down Halo Halo - 4.5/5 I'm not sure what an upside down Halo Halo is as opposed to a right side up... lol. Guess I'm not sure what a Halo Halo is supposed to look like...I thought it was just a mix of ingredients and meant mix mix in Tagalog, either way, this was fantastic. Good Ube flavor with several so many treats: Coconut Jellies, Jack Fruit and Boba topped off with Corn Flakes, Ice Cream and Flan. Delish! ~ Baked Goods: Ube Tres Leches - 5/5 Filipino spin on Tres Leches. Ube Cake at the base soaked in some sort of Ube milk and topped off with Ube whipped cream! This was straight Ube on Ube. Good Ube flavor, yet not too sweet. ~ Baked Goods: Ube Leche Flan Cupcake - 4/5 Moist Ube cupcake topped with rich and creamy Leche Flan. Rich, but not sweet. ~ Baked Goods: Halo Halo Bread Pudding - 4/5 Ube flavored Bread Pudding with pieces of Jackfruit and shredded Coconut on top served with a scoop of Ube Ice Cream. This is dense and heavy, so be weary. ~ Milkshakes: Ube Monster - 4/5 Just a solid Ube milkshake. Rich and creamy Ube flavor, but not too sweet. The crushed Oreos give it a nice contrasting texture. So much Ube, so little time!

Everything is really sweet!! The ube tres leche tastes pretty good but I can't finish it all in one go since it's so sweet. I personally didn't like the frosting (whipped ube halaya and a crunchy layer of cashew meringue) so I took it off. I liked that they put a lot of extra liquid for the cake to soak up. The ube latte was ok. Tasted really sweet and heavy for me so I wouldn't get it again.

Good that it's open late, mocha looked and tasted like a watered down nescafe, the one person in the cafe seemed not too happy about their job. I'll skip next time.

Ordered online. Seems like they forgot my order. And made the wrong order (I ordered no sugar but they gave me 100% sugar.) Appreciate that they made a new cup. However it’s still too sweet. I ended up throwing it away. The cheesecake is also too sweet, also threw away half.

Fun stop for an after-lunch treat. The Mermaid boba was fabulous - the mix of sea salt and jasmine tea was so unusual and delicious! We also tried the ube butter bars. Had great texture and interesting flavor, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff was super helpful with my first-time ordering questions. Welcoming seating areas to enjoy your goodies. You need to go!

First of all, staff are friendly and helpful. I find everything too sweet , I still prefer the original Pinoy style halo halo , I find their halo halo too sweet and had too much ube, also had a distinct taste that i dont like, it had an overpowering taste of coconut milk .

Nice spot for a quick ube grab-n-go. They've got a variety of desserts and drinks and they all taste excellent! Got myself the ube latte and the ube flavour really shines through! My friends had the coffee milk tea and the halo halo and they enjoyed their choices as well. Definitely coming back again to try out other stuff!
