I knew the reason why many people love this place! I finally had the chance to visit this well-known brunch spot, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation! The food was delicious, with perfectly cooked eggs, and fresh ingredients that made every bite amazing. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a great brunch. The service was also excellent—friendly and attentive staff made the experience even better. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a top-notch brunch! Coffee was really great!

Stumbled upon Good Luck Cafe and was seriously impressed! The service was friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in — you can tell they care about what they do. We tried the iced latte and iced mocha, and both were excellent — smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. To go with the coffee, we had a cinnamon coffee cake-style cookie, and wow — it was soft, flavorful, and just the right amount of sweet. Easily one of the best coffee shop treats we’ve had in a while. Highly recommended if you’re looking for quality coffee and a cozy, laid-back vibe. We’ll definitely be back!

First, the name. Cafe Goodluck is such a straightforward, positive appellation that you can’t help but be charmed from first hearing about it. Walking in, you’re greeted by a cozy atmosphere and cheerful staff that make you feel welcome. If I weren’t in the city for business, I’d certainly be back! The logo, an adorably derpy-looking horse, is endearing and I so wish it was on more merchandise! “Drink coffee, go so fast” is exactly what that horse would say, and it’s just too bad that slogan isn’t on more merch. I had the Americano and a ginger cookie, both of which were great. The coffee was served in a special mug that I forget the name of, but he point is that even that was specially selected. Can’t exactly say what it is, but everything that went into this establishment feels curated, like you’ve been invited into someone’s beautiful world, and you’ll appreciate that for sure! Would I make a special trip? If you want to hit up cafes you can’t miss it! If you’re in Dartmouth, you gotta go. But if you see the photos and read this review and aren’t charmed, then you’re probably ok skipping. Overall, Cafe Goodluck has a unique character that I found especially charming. If that appeals to you, make the trip! Just wish they had more of that horse on merch lol!

Oh my goodness! This was such a treat. Delicious sandwiches and coffee. Very vibey environment and kind staff. I would come here every single day if I lived in the neighborhood. I will most certainly be back when I can. The location is very convenient and lots of local shops close by. We sat on the patio and enjoyed our sandwiches and coffee. Lots of space to sit, one of the few places that closes at 6pm which is nice. Tried the starberry milk latte which was nice though a bit on the sweet side. Good place to do work and they have a space in the back that seems like it is also nice to chill with different vibes.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 for everything except the matcha) This café is absolutely amazing — great coffee, super friendly staff, and perfect service. Everything here is 10/10! But the matcha… unfortunately, it’s really bad. It tastes like cheap powder, has a muddy color, and no real matcha flavor. The funny part is, the price is the same as at Starbucks — but Starbucks’ matcha tastes a hundred times better. Please, get a better quality matcha — you deserve it, because everything else in your café is perfect! 💚

‏Java Blend is a solid go-to for great coffee. I usually get their Colombian beans for V60 smooth, rich, and consistently excellent. Highly recommend for both brewed coffee and beans.

Super friendly and knowledgeable baristas! The atmosphere is warm and comfortable. Good place to read a book and enjoy some excellent coffee. I haven’t tried any of the food/baked goods but the espresso and brewed coffee are both very good. And the beans are just as tasty at home!

The laitte is great, and the café offers a variety of coffee beans for sale.

Couldn’t find a better set of baristas. Willing to educate and offer advice. I tried something outside my comfort zone. It hit really hard and I’m glad I went there. Cute shop well worth it for those that value good espresso (or those like me that just want to try something new). Not any seating but enjoy at the coffee bar in the window.

During my week trip to Halifax, this became my go-to coffee spot. Delicious coffee, warm, friendly staff and could tell there was a good community vibe there with all the people stopping in to chat. Even do a meeting here. Only stand-up room but there are places along the wall to set your coffee down. Had an americano, latte and mocha latte. Treats looked tempting and a colleague mentioned they loved them. Also chatted with the staff about resto recommendations which were so helpful. Highly recommend and will go back next time I’m there.

Lovely little espresso bar. Friendly service and the best flat white I’ve had in Halifax so far. Not really any seating, but that’s a good excuse to head down to the water with a coffee.

My top choice for serious espresso in downtown Halifax. Numerous vegan pastries in the case too (whether or not they are vegan is not marked so just inquire). This is a small place so you should plan on taking your food and drink to go.

Pretty good coffee - worth a try if you’re visiting. Tiny spot, so no seating. I’d rate it 4/5 - the latte was good, but at $6.50 for a medium, it’s on the pricey side. Nice as a one-time stop for tourists, but probably not a go-to for locals like me.

I was so excited to see that Weird Harbour Espresso Bar was just 4 minutes down the street from my hotel! What a wonderful place. The staff was so friendly and helpful with selecting my drink. I had a flat white and it was probably the best coffee I have ever had - It almost tasted like caramel without the sweetness! I would be back many times if I didn't have to leave Halifax.

I stopped by Two if By Sea cafe, and while it was a hip spot, I left feeling somewhat underwhelmed. The cafe itself is trendy, but seating is limited, so be prepared to grab-and-go. I ordered an iced matcha latte, but unfortunately, it didn't blow me away. The flavor was just average, and I've had better matcha lattes elsewhere. On the bright side, the croissants were a highlight! They're huge and flaky, and the almond croissant was perfect for me since it wasn't too sweet. However, I have to say that the plain croissant didn't impress me as much - I've had better ones from Costco (and you can't beat the value there!). The Nutella and raspberry danish were just okay - nothing special. Overall, I'd say Two if By Sea cafe is a solid choice if you're in the area, but it's not necessarily a destination worth seeking out.

A really nice cafe, got there just when they were bringing out their fresh batch of pastries and man they are huge. The provolone croissant was bigger than my hand and the chocolate croissant was also very large. Loved the outside seating and their food and ambience.

🛑 BEST CROISSANTS IN CANADA! 🛑 if you are visiting Halifax do yourself a favour and cross the bridge into Dartmouth and go try these croissants! Best you’ll ever had! Won’t regret the trip over! You’re going to want to go back to visit Halifax only for these croissants! Don’t forget to pair them with a Cafe Moca, they’re great as well! Hint, go early! By 1:00 pm or so, they could sold out!

We really enjoyed the coffee and the numerous varieties of pastries. We had the pain au chocolat and a everything croissant, and it was delicious. The vibe was also very nice, we sat upstairs with all the paper plates with art on them, we had a good time looking at the drawings! The americano is great, will go again!

Not really sure what the hype is about. The croissants are too dense, the flavor is good but croissants are supposed to be light and flaky. These were far from it. We have tried the prosciutto cheese one and almond croissant. Wouldn't purchase again but their coffee was good and people nice. Also, there is pizza place upstairs - definitely recommend it

You will not find better croissants. The problem is choosing which one. The pain au chocolat is deliciously and generously filled with milk chocolate. The Everything Bagel flavored croissant is amazing as well, filled with cream cheese. This time around I had the special, which was a pumpkin cheesecake croissant. A bit sweet, but oh so good. The seating isn't super comfortable, but if you can snag a table by the open window it's nice. Very busy spot.

The food is not bad but it's not worth the experience. The service was poor, we arrived at the place and we were totally ignored, we had to chase a waitress to ask if we had to be seated or we could take a table ourselves (the two people at the bar looked directly at us and completely ignored us). It seems to me the people at the kitchen had to do everything (from cooking and serving to cleaning up) while the people behind the bar just take orders (they won't do anything beyond that) It's really disappointing because we found that people in Halifax are very friendly and helpful. My suggestion: walk around the corner (not even 2 minutes!) and go to an Italian cafe nearby (we had the best Devil's Chocolate cake there).

My wife and I visited Halifax from Toronto and Steve-O-Reno is hands-down our favourite coffee shop for breakfast. We came here for breakfast 3 out of the 5 days we were in Halifax. Their pour-over single origin coffee was incredibly well-brewed and their latte was also fantastic. The barista definitely knew what he was doing. All the pastries and bread were fresh and delicious. My wife bought 3 different scones and all of them were big and tasty, so were the bagels and muffins that I had. The coffee shop had a great atmosphere overall as well. Truly a gem in the city!

The smoked salmon and avocado benny was perfectly done and the cappuccino had a great medium roast flavour. Service was very good. A lot of character in this restaurant. I only wish it were open until later as it closes at 2pm.

Steve-O-Reno's seedy oatcake is quite possibly the best oatcake in Halifax (in NS?... the world?). It was so good and a pretty hefty size so you are getting a good deal for your money. The cappuccino was great too and beautiful to look at. They have a sweet patio where you can tuck away in peace and quiet with a book for a little while. Though they close a little earlier than most places (2 pm on saturdays), they were pretty relaxed and did not boot anyone out right at 2 pm on the dot. Great background playlist too. Had a lovely salmon bagel here, it’s a lovely little spot for brunch or lunch. A limited menu of bagels and sandwiches but what they do they seem to do well.

Just a stone's throw away from where we were staying at Prince George Hotel, this is quite the busy spot according to my wife. My eggs Benedict was absolutely FABULOUS. Her choice equally GOOD, along with our respective coffees.

I visited this place because of its high rating but left a bit underwhelmed. The seating inside felt cramped, and the chairs were uncomfortable and some were even broken. I ordered the egg Sammy, loved the challah bread, but it was awkward to eat. The bagel sandwich wasn’t very fresh, and the coffee was pretty basic. For the prices, it felt like just another overhyped breakfast and coffee spot. The bakery items (spicy walnut scone and peach cake) on the other hand, which I believe are outsourced, were actually quite good!!

We loved our breakfast bagels and coffees from Dilly Dally! I ordered the Veggie Bagel, and was overly thrilled with how delicious it was! The atmosphere was so cozy and charming, it felt very welcoming, like you could hang out all day. It was super busy when we were there, but the service was still very friendly and quick! I would highly recommend visiting Dilly Dally if you find yourself in the area!

Small coffee shop with options for quick grab and go items or more traditional served to table breakfast sandwiches. The shop has close quarters, so during peak hours you may have to use the outdoor seating (which is still quite nice!) Limited parking (two spots adjacent to the shop.)

Great coffee shop that seems to always be very busy, but we lucked out in getting a table and didn't have a wait. The Canadiano (bonus points for not calling it Americano) was excellent. I had the bacon and egg croissant, which was delicious. Bacon was thick and a bit chewy, but not overpowering. The wife had a butternut squash soup which had a really nice curry kick, and was served with some delicious soft bread. The lemon babke was great too. Definitely recommend, but be prepared to wait a bit because it was very busy!

Love the vibe of this place. Eclectic feel, little Dino 🦕 figurines hidden everywhere, excellent vegan options. Had the BLT and made it vegan. They added seitan bacon and avocado. Every ingredient was thoughtfully seasoned. Plenty of plant milk options available. Highly recommend.

A quite small coffee house, situated next to Darrel's restaurant. They offer a variety of coffees as well as some baked goods. There's limited seating, but they have an outside table as well, which is nice during the summer.

Small take-out friendly cafe. Offers coffee and drinks and some vegan baked goods including the apple crumble cake which was delicious. They have an item they list as vegan but contains honey which is labeled but the worker was able to tell me what it as vegan and was helpful.

Really great coffee! I think they serve North Mountain. There is limited seating here but it's cozy! I can't wait to try their baked goods.

Perfect spot for remote work or reading a book. Wi-Fi is fast, outlets are available, and the music is just right—not too loud, not too quiet. Plus, the cold brew is dangerously good!

I would give this place 5 stars because I like the place and they had/have light roast. However, the availability is unpredictable. I have been told that it's available from Monday to Friday until 10.30 am but they haven't brewed it twice now (once last week and once this week) and it's frustrating when I walk purposely a detour to work just to get the coffee from here just to be told they don't have it. 😢

Amazing spot! The coffee selection is fantastic and the taste is top-notch. The food is incredibly fresh, just like something your mom would bake at home. I tried the cinnamon roll and it was absolutely delicious! I’ll definitely be back whenever I'm in Halifax. For those staying at the Sheraton, it's directly across from the main entrance—super convenient! Highly recommend, AAA+++.

This coffee house has a great location and a pleasant atmosphere. The service was also good. However, their breakfast options are limited, so we only had bagels, which weren’t very impressive. Overall, it’s a great place to have a coffee in downtown, but they could improve their breakfast menu by adding some bakery options.

What a beautiful place!! On a girls trip, my friend demanded to eat here. She’s been coming for 15 years. The service was great and the staff friendly. The food perfect. Was looking for a place for coffee while visiting the Halifax Waterfront, as the vendors there all had long lines. Not only is Cabin Coffee a stones throw from the Waterfront it is also a fantastic little gem to stop in warm up and escape the crowd. I loved the rustic atmosphere and how cozy it felt! We got Lavender London Fogs and they were fantastic and definitely helped keep us warm as we perused the Waterfront further. Would return in a heartbeat!

Good location with beautiful light. In need of a deep clean and drastically improved daily cleaning. Cleanliness issues are hard to get past. There are crumbs, dust and sticky all over. I ordered an extra hot latte, it came lukewarm and had to be microwaved. The latte was very watery and disappointing. Curious if the manager will respond with tangible action. Supporting local is earned not by default.

There was unfortunately someone with a whipper snipper absolutely going at it during our dine. Not the restaurants fault really as it was the neighborhood but it was noted. Other than that honestly this place is one of the cutest cafe's I've ever been to. The decor and atmosphere is rustic with a hint of seaside port. They have a wonderful interior designer, and the little specialty shop and they have for groceries and a few knicknacks are definitely worth the visit! Especially if you're a Greek cuisine lover, they have imported olive oils and top quality pasta products that are sensational! Now into the menu, it's simple casual cafe type food. Comfortable and not too heavy, however they have a playful combination of variety to keep your interests. Playful food pairings from pear and blue cheese salads, to mushroom cream sauce on a delicious toast with the most delicious candied walnuts I've had. A combination I never thought would work. So give it a shot, but he prepared and remember that you are in a residential area, there may be some resident level noises! And it's pet friendly!!

We stopped for a quick cup of tea at the end of the Sunday hours. The staff were very friendly and indicated that they would be closing soon but still served us. There's a lovely gift shop as part of the café. Lots of lovely art on the walls as well. We didn't have a chance to able the treats but they looked delicious.

We stopped at this café in Chester for coffee and a light lunch, and it was such a great experience. I ordered a flat white and it was absolutely delicious - I’m still regretting not grabbing a second one to go! For lunch we shared the daily special, and they kindly split it into two plates for us without us even asking, which was such a thoughtful touch. The food was good, and they also had a nice variety of sweets on display. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this spot if you’re in town.

Went for breakfast on our last day in Chester. That was the only mistake. Should have been there sooner and more. Had the mushroom toast. It was great. Would love to know how to make it.

Had the Eggs Benny with smoked salmon and the bottomless cup of coffee. The food was great, however, no refill on coffee, no how was your meal, we even had to ask for the amount of the bill. There is fresh ground coffee here, pastries etc. My food was excellent.

We stumbled across the Kiwi Café in Chester and of course being Kiwis had to stop in for coffee and a light lunch. We ordered cappuccino’s which came with a piece of Lindt chocolate, so nice and had the bacon and egg roll and Tomato soup which was delicious. The food was good, and they also had a nice variety of cakes on display. It was lovely to meet Linda, the owner and have a chat about NZ. Great hospitality and service, we highly recommend visiting if you are in Chester.

This place has become my go to place to come and read or work on my laptop, lots of table space good wifi and they play good music too. The food and drinks are really great too- although sometimes the hot drinks are a little too hot. The service is really great too, super friendly people.

An interesting space for gathering and eating. Lots of space and fairly well lit given its partially subterranean location. Staff were very friendly and there was a large assortment of food and drinks. Didn’t get a chance to try anything to eat but looked interesting.

A very cute place, delicious food and drinks their muffins and bagels are so good. Can be very busy often and there is not much room in the place so it can get quite crowded. But definitely a place to check out if you are in the area:)

I didn't "glory days"muffin at all, I guess I didn't read about its content, so maybe my fault. I asked for a sweet hot drink and this was bitter. It was a waste of my time and money.

Really nice Cafe in Dartmouth. Clearly in a zone that is up and coming. Nice atmosphere. Great service, everybody was friendly and helpful. I asked to switch bacon for ham in my Marco Eggo and they did it without any issues. I got a large latte, a Marco Eggo (an egg with cram cheese and bacon in an English muffin) and a cookie. Everything was great... The sandwich was a tiny bit spicy. We'll come back.

Visited on Sunday June 29 in the afternoon. There was only one young woman making drinks for the whole cafe and she seemed overwhelmed but she did a great job. My latte was delicious and so was the blueberry peach muffin.

Such a lovely place! I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. The barista was very nice and friendly. There were lots of drink, sandwich and pastry options to choose from. I ordered an Americano and a maple pumpkin walnut muffin. Both were delicious. The muffin was moist and not too sweet. The Americano was smooth.

Heard this place is good for coffee. Got the espresso and cinnamon streusel muffin and sprinkle cookie for the little one. Espresso was very acidic 1/5 - yikes , but the muffin was amazing 10/5. The muffin was very lightly sweet, crispy topped, airy soft, not oily, just perfection- probably good for diabetics (my partner said he would have liked it sweeter) Sucks that the espresso sucked. Gosh I’m trying to sip it as I write this, the more I sip the worse it gets. It’s like medicine ugh Little one just added on a hot chocolate: basic(very heavy on the milk) but nice milk foam. Expresso 46 is a great little spot! The coffee is excellent, and the treats are delicious — especially the almond croissant, which was a standout. It’s also a really convenient shop with a nice selection of essentials and tasty grab-and-go items. Perfect for a quick stop or a cozy coffee break.

Dropped in for a coffee before work for the first time and was exceptionally impressed. The store front is located in a market for quick to-go, but if you want to stay in they have an absolutely wonderful upstairs dining area. Very cozy and welcoming. I'll definitely be back! The coffee was great, as were the sweats and staff members!

Always so friendly and best iced mocha and croissant in the city! My partner is also addicted to their bombolonis which is like a stuffed donut. We walk our dog there a few times a week because the ordering window is outside when weather permits

Absolutely delicious Cortado. Probably the best I’ve had in the city. Friendly service, too. There’s ample outdoor seating for when the weather’s nice, and I think there’s a bit of indoor seating too.

I’ll admit it, I had no idea there was a coffee shop tucked inside Taz Records until I wandered in after seeing the lineup down the street at Café Good Luck. Turns out people are sleeping on Morleys. Coffee was genuinely great… like, “why-are-more-people-not-talking-about-this” great. Super chill vibe too, with the bonus of browsing records while you wait. Basically, it feels like finding a secret café your cooler friend forgot to tell you about. Highly recommend!

Went today for the first time and was very impressed! My 2 cortados were very balanced and smooth with very velvety milk texture and great flavor. Baristas we’re kind and helpful! Will definitely be going back whenever I’m in downtown Dartmouth!

Dropped by after a recommendation from my server at The Canteen for good coffee. It's a cafe within a record and book store, and I loved the cool, retro vibes. My mocha took awhile to make, but I could tell it was because there was a lot of care put into it. It had a deep, cocoa taste with a bold punch of espresso. It was exactly what I needed.

I found my new favourite coffee shop! Cannot praise the staff enough- they have renewed my faith in humanity and are genuinely great people. I unknowingly dropped my wallet outside this establishment on a Friday evening; figured it for sure was long gone. I received a Facebook message from the owner of the coffee shop on Monday morning, saying one of their employees found my wallet and brought it in, and they have kept it safe for me. They absolutely didn’t have to go through this trouble, but I appreciate it. I nearly cried when I opened my wallet to find that everything was exactly as it was when I lost it. This is a true attest to their characters and I will be sure to tell everyone I know they need to support this local business. I will happily spend my money at this coffee shop supporting such amazing, kindhearted people… and do so while enjoying their delicious baked goods and beverages! Please support this local business- they truly deserve it! A quaint spot with a great vibe, delicious treats, and the most friendly staff and customers! I love to support small businesses, especially due to what’s happening in the US, but I was highly disappointed with the two coffee drinks I got. My iced Americano was 3/4 full (I did specify I wanted it black, so no need for room for dairy), and my partner ordered a macchiato that was in the smallest cup ever. I understand there is espresso macchiato, however, it wasn’t stated on the menu and if I’m paying over $4 for it, I assumed it would be normal size. Not to mention, I would at least understand if it was tasty, but both coffees were overly burnt. Moreover, the staff were not very friendly, and one of them actually got annoyed at a customer for being in their way. As a worker in the service industry, I was not impressed.

Stopped by for an iced cherry latte and some light snacks. The coffee was definitely strong and had a bold roast, but we were a bit disappointed that there wasn’t much cherry flavor—it didn’t quite match the name. That said, the ambience was lovely—cozy, laid-back, and perfect for a mid-day coffee break in charming Lunenburg. Staff were friendly, and the space had a nice local vibe.

I never write reviews but this was a terrible experience. Waited over 30 minutes for two take away lattes and a breakfast croissant. Our kids were understandably starting to lose it. Staff were rude and dismiss of us repeatedly confirming our order had not been lost. The coffees eventually came ~25 mins later without a smile let alone an apology. Then it appears they forgot about the croissant which only arrived after more asking 15 mins later. We love Lunenburg and supporting the great small businesses. This experience was a disservice to the coffee company and we will not be returning.

Had a great experience here. Very happy to find food that is not dripping in oil or butter. The hummus wrap and the veggie quiche were very nice. And of course; good coffee!

I was there a few Saturdays ago and it was super busy but there was a blonde lady who served me and recommended the maple latte when I didn’t know what I wanted. The young lady I spoke to was so nice and cheery I wish I remembered her name so I could call her out but I only remember that her first initial was a K. The maple latte was totally worth it I’m so glad she recommended it. I am planning on going back soon so I can get it again and hopefully that lady is there to serve me.

I enjoyed popping into this coffee shop, we got a to go latte and pasty and they were both very good. The service was a bit slow (a little less than 10 minutes) even though there were very few people, however, the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff made up for the minor delay.

I've been drinking their coffee for over five years, but it is the exceptional customer service I received this weekend that got me to post. Since we don't live close by, my husband and I bulk order (at least 8 bags) every couple of months and then make a trip out of going to the HSFM for pick up. This time there was a bit of a snafu with our order that could have led to a huge inconvenience for me because the Mackay bridge was closed. When I communicated with the owner they came up with a solution (delivering to an alternate location) that worked brilliantly. I really appreciate the effort and enguinity to find a solution. Plus the coffee is yummy. Rock Your Boat forever!!!

Decided to check this place out despite the intense construction in the area and I’m so glad we did. From the moment our friendly and knowledgeable server greeted us to the moment we left, the entire experience was great. Ordered the falafel appetizer to start and it was shockingly good. The server told us they use fresh chickpeas rather than the dried mix, but whatever it was, they were so good I intend to go back just for that. Also had the scallop beet salad and the spring bowl. The scallops were plump and plentiful and seared just right. The other ingredients in both dishes were fresh and generous. All of the good food was accompanied by a fantastic view of the bay. A meal on the patio here on a beautiful day is an experience not to be missed!

In a whim, we arrived not knowing we needed reservations. The young lady hosting that night was fantastic. She was able to accommodate both my husband and myself. We both ordered appetizers. A cup of seafood chowder for hubby and Cesar salad for me, so we could share. We were blown away by the flavours both in the soup and the salad. For supper, he ordered the pork schnitzel. I ordered scallops linguine in a dill cream sauce. They were delectable! Hot, fresh and served with a smile. You really need to check this place out! The experience was wonderful, start your finish,

I wanted to leave this review for The Naked Oyster but no link connection yet on their web page. But I know they’re affiliated with Rebecca’s, so hopefully this review will make it to them: We went to The Naked Oyster NS today in Mahone Bay where Oh My Cod used to be located. What a treat- I thought they only served oysters. WRONG. We were so happy to see Cathy (a server from OMC-those who know, know!) such a sweetheart and we were so surprised when she greeted us as we entered with her usual big smile. The renovations look fantastic; there’s ample seating, out back and out front and inside as well but the food was the star of the show. The staff was all smiling and happy, the owner was there as well-just good vibes from their crew on an otherwise rainy Sunday. We had the elderflower lemonade, fish and chips, (thin crispy batter; huge chunks of fish, best homemade tartare sauce!) lobster croissant,(to die) blueberry grunt, sticky toffee pudding and peanut butter cheesecake. Everything was fresh and hot and the service? Amazing. Now that they’ve opened and word of their incredible food spreads? We’re just hoping we can still find a seat. Soooo good! Go. Go early. Wait in line if you have to. It’s worth the wait. See you guys next week! (Closed on Tuesdays as a heads up!)

Stopped in for lunch. Nice location and fun atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful. Daily soup and fish cake specials. Had the daily fish cakes with fries. Super tasty. Always nice to have food that is flavourful. The chutney that came with it was amazing. Well worth stopping in.

Passing by and we decided to eat here. 1. Fresh mussels - finally after 3 years wandering arround Nova Scotia, i found a place where they know how to prepare them. Wine, broth, onion, celery, butter, and with homemade rolls. Delicious, you have to try it. 2. Spring rolls bowl - cold dish, 3. Caesar salad

Best seafood on the east coast! We stopped in for lunch on our way from Peggy’s Cove to Lunenburg and it was well worth the stop! The seared scallop and beet salad was so fresh and perfectly balanced, the seafood chowder was delish (not too heavy), and the fish and chips were amazing! Bonus points that they were gluten free (you’d never know it, they were delicious!). Our server was fantastic. So friendly! It’s a casual spot (picnic tables) and the only downside was the construction happening across the street making it a bit noisy and dusty, but that might be finished up by the time you go (we were there end of Aug. 2025).

We enjoyed our lunch. We sat on the patio overlooking the parking lot/Mahone Bay. There is seating inside and out. The server helped guide us through the options. My wife had a bacon cheeseburger with fries and I had the scallops which came with a nice salad (the scallops may be a starter but I had it as a meal.). The scallops were excellent. I over heard another diner saying how much they enjoyed the fish and chips. The server said they’d bring me a piece of the fish if I found the scallops were not enough to eat. We shared a dessert of crème brûlée.

This is by far our favourite place outside of Halifax for lunch. Another visit yesterday and again it did not disappoint. We started with a few cocktails, which were both delicious. Blue Berry soda cocktail made with locally distilled blueberry flavored vodka. So refreshing on a warm day. The cesar was perfectly seasoned. She had a cup of shellfish chowder while I enjoyed a 1/2 pound of mussels. Both were yummy!! We both had a single order of fish & chips. You can't go wrong with this. Light, crispy batter over perfectly cooked fish. An ample amount of fries and coleslaw accompany the fish. I always recommend this place to anyone traveling down to Chester. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is so welcoming, and the ocean view from the patio is second to none.

First of all- this town is the cutest! The service at this restaurant was friendly and felt like home. We enjoyed their lunch special- 1/2 lobster roll with chowder. Highly recommend!

We called the same day for a reservation and were lucky to snag a table upstairs—great view of the water and a cozy, nautical vibe. The décor feels a bit timeworn, but in a way that adds to the character and charm of the place—it’s clearly well-loved and full of local history. Our waitress was fantastic, especially considering she seemed to be managing the entire upstairs solo. She was friendly and attentive, even while clearly hustling. The food was lovely—I had the haddock with dill sauce, which was perfectly cooked. My only complaint? I could’ve used way more of that sauce! But the real star of the night was dessert. We split the Bailey's cheesecake and the blueberry apple crumble, and wow… I could’ve easily eaten that entire cheesecake by myself. Overall, a great dining experience in Chester—delicious food, sweet staff, and that waterfront view makes it feel extra special.

Very cool spot in Chester! Had the bbq chicken flatbread pizza and it was delicious. It gets busy really quickly because it’s one of the few restaurants in Chester. I’d recommend going earlier than your usual dinner time to snag a spot if you don’t want takeout.

Awesome place in Nova Scotia!❤️ Service was excellent and kind! Food was really good! Chowder was full of all kind of seafood! Burger was great - the meat and vegs were soooo good! ☺️🙌 Still, we would recommend to add some authentic crafted sauces to it (please don't use a standard ketchup > it kills the taste of the meat🙏). And please, add here an option to sides as mashed potatoes, or grilled vegetables. The fryes were good, but it's just another idea for diversity. I suppose in summer they have more options of the salads, vegs.🌞 Desert.. It's was Bailey's cheesecake. Delicious!..., 😊 But! 😉 (hope it could help to upgrade it having perfect! don't be upset about that - everything is great! Just we are an experts in desserts and delicious food, unfortunately 😁) Anyway, we were soooo happy about the food, the place, the ocean view and the service! Amazing! Thank you for this experience!❤️ Hope you could be open during the winter as well

What a find in Nova Scotia! Super cosy, great vibes, and staff and customers were so friendly. Felt like a real community hangout. Shoutout to Rachel, our server, she was so lovely and made us feel right at home. Now, on to the lobster roll: easily the best one I had. Marked down as a favourite!

Food tasted delicious. Not cheap, but fairly priced for the quality. Service wasn’t well organized. At times we had 3 servers check on us one right after the other. At times no one came. So after our meal, there was a long wait for dessert. Decor was nice and there was a live band out on the patio, but there was a very strong musty smell upon entrance and descent into the lower seating area. The toilet (1) was a bit dingy and not labelled on the door.

Friday grill night was fantastic. We sat outside on the patio which had a great atmosphere with comfortable seating, fantastic live music and excellent food. The kind of place you want to stay all night. The grilled lobsters and mussels were all amazing!

There are restaurants that claim to know food...and then there is Mateus. They have a passion and understanding of how incredible both the simple, and the complex can be. Case in point, we had sandwiches for an early dinner that while simple in description, we're sublime in taste. This was food that will stick in your memory forever.

Good service, amazing atmosphere with enjoyable live music, the tenderloin was amazing. Our server was fast and professional and a pleasure to deal with, she was very sweet and funny!

3 of us arrived at our reservation time of 530pm on Friday night which was their grill night. The menu looked delicious. We sat on the patio on a very warm summer night. Once they fired up their grill we got severely smoked out by their green round BBQ, so did others. We chose to move inside so we didn't spend the rest of the night smelling like smoke. I ordered 30$ salmon, rice and grilled veggies. When my order arrived I could have easily put all the food on my plate into a small 1 cup, so that was disappointing, my grilled asparagus was purely a char stick and uneatable, my potatoes were 1/2 cooked and the 2 zucchini pieces were charred mush. The salmon tiny morsal was good. I was still hungry. My daughter ordered the lobster, which was less than 1 pound and must have been boiled in old water, it was tasteless. Her veggies were the same as mine, either undercooked, mush and all was charred. My grandson had a steak which he enjoyed. His veggies were the same as ours. Super disappointing meal and a total rip off. We went down the road and ordered tacos which were delicious. Don't waste your hard earned money here folks.

An Experience in How Not to Run a Restaurant We walked in with two kids and 7 adults, expecting a simple meal. Menus arrived 15 minutes later—not a great start when you’ve got hungry children. We ordered kids’ burgers. The patties were tiny and came with adult buns, so the kids mostly ate bread. When we asked why, the waitress casually said they were out of kids’ buns—something she never mentioned when we ordered. The owner later appeared and claimed, “We never had kids’ buns.” Amazing coordination. Some of us ordered starters, some didn’t. They brought starters but didn’t serve the main dishes for those without appetizers. When we asked, the waitress said they were planning to bring all mains together—fine, but at least tell us. Instead, we waited 1.5 hours for the main courses. My salmon fillet arrived completely different from the menu description—it was supposed to have asparagus, but none was on the plate. And the rice portion was too small:) When I pointed it out, they apologized and promised to bring it “ASAP.” It never came until I finished my meal 2 hours later, at which point I told them to forget it. A friend’s creamy pasta turned into a microwave vegetable pasta—definitely not what was promised or ordered. We voiced our disappointment to the waitress, who then spoke with the manager/owner. He finally came over, half-drunk and dismissive, asking, “What’s up?” I asked if he even knew what was going on. Clearly, he didn’t. We explained everything again. He said he’d “fix it,” which took another 15–20 minutes. In the end, he removed my salmon from the bill—but it was never about the $30, it was about the experience. This place needs to take its business seriously. Coordination, communication, and quality are all broken. I hope they see this review as constructive criticism, because people deserve better.

We called the day of to make a reservation for 10 and were told they’d accommodate us despite being short-staffed. We appreciated walking into a table ready near the live music, which created a lovely atmosphere for everyone, including the children in our group. At first, the servers appeared confident and welcoming. Unfortunately, the experience was impacted by a series of service issues and communication breakdowns. Example, we waited 15 minutes for the menus before requesting them ourselves. Some guests ordered mains while others started with appetizers, but the server did not ask if we’d like all food served together or in courses. As a result, those with mains only had to wait for 1.5hrs for their mains. When they arrived, some were missing key components that were described on the menu, and our request to correct this was not followed through. We asked to speak to the manager before paying the full price, and when he arrived: he greeted us with a casual: “so, what’s up?” which felt dismissive given the circumstances. He listened and agreed to fix it for us, however the resolution took about additional 15-20 minutes. As for food quality, the bruschetta, tomato soup, and pasta of the day were bland, though the burger was enjoyable. The kids burger was served on a full size adult with a noticeably small patty inside. We understand that staffing shortages can create challenges, but clear communication, attention to detail, and professionalism,-especially from management- are key to maintaining positive guest experience. I hope this feedback helps improve service consistency and accountability for future guests.

Very friendly. Super great food. We ordered the fish and chips and the house Red Ale. We went a second night: i had their signature stuffed halibut, and carrot cake for dessert 👍. 3rd night I had cup of lobster bisque 👌 . We also ordered chicken wings 👍. Caesar salad ok.

The restaurant was great and had a really nice atmosphere and food. Unfortunately this place gets a 4 because the water wasn’t safe for human consumption.

Outstanding place! Fish and chips was one of the best we ever had. The stuffed haddock was cooked to perfection with scallops, shrimp, cherry tomatoes and incredible sauce. The staff wad very friendly and fun to deal with. Highly recommended!

Went for dinner. Overall, had a lovely meal. Ordered the Lobster Bisque and the Seafood Fettuccine. Both were quite tasty but came out super hot. Unfortunately, the fettuccine sauce broke so was mostly butter. There was a good amount of seafood though. The server was lovely but it got quite busy so service was slower than we thought it would be.

Great little restaurant/pub. The service was excellent. I had the stuffed haddock. It was amazing.

Stopped here for lunch in May 2022. The staff were very friendly, fun, and informative (about other things we could do while we were in the area). There were so many interior decor details that gave it a lot of charm. The food was great. The seafood chowder. Yum. The apple crisp was really good too. And they played a lot of Eagles songs in the background which is always great for setting a fun and chill mood.

I was in the area today for work and decided to finally stop in and try this place after driving by it for years. Lots of seating, bright, open space. I wasn't hungry so I just had a coffee but all of the treats looked great.

We stopped in here on a Thursday morning looking for some coffee and drinks and were well rewarded. I got a decaf cappuccino, and I am always on the lookout for a good, flavorful decaf coffee, since many taste like brown water. This decaf was good, I’d say it’s now my second favourite brand, and I’ve tried upwards of 20 brands, Canadian or otherwise. My daughter got the strawberries & cream Sea Freeze, and that was quite sweet but also nicely creamy (since they use actual cream in it). We also bought a candle from Lawrencetown Candle Co., Chai Latte, which smells great (very strong spice smell). Overall a great place to stop in the Grand Pré area.

Came here this past weekend and ordered the Salted Caramel Latte. It was delicious. My wife ordered an iced vanilla latte and she really enjoyed hers as well. We also ordered a Ginger Molasses cookie to share and it was amazing. The space is big and was very clean. There was a bit of a line up while we were there, which tells me it’s a popular place (always a good sign). The lady that took our order was very friendly, but the barista who made our drinks could have been a bit friendlier. I don’t know if it was because she was having a bad day or not, but when she called out my order, I watched her slam my drink down and the foam from my latte came up through the cup lid and I had to wipe it off, because she had no intentions to. She also made zero eye contact and did not respond when I thanked her. Overall we enjoyed our drinks and cookie to go. They do have a museum that we wanted to check out, but after the encounter with the barista, I did not feel like asking about it.

Great coffee with a local touch Just Us! Coffee in Grand Pré is the perfect stop for a quality caffeine fix. The coffee is rich, smooth, and full of flavour, clearly made with care and freshly roasted beans. The atmosphere is relaxed, with a welcoming vibe that makes you want to linger a little longer. It’s also great to know that Just Us! is a local roaster with a commitment to fair trade and sustainability – you can taste the passion in every cup. A wonderful place to start your day or take a mid-afternoon break.

Lily just made the best oat milk cappuccino i've had from here! Perfectly dialed espresso and the milk texture and temperature were on point. Had to hold myself back from getting another. Cant wait for the next one :)

Wired monk was a delicious spot for a quick coffee and bite to eat. I got a warmed almond croissant and I would highly recommend. Astetically, the amount of local art on the wall was also nice!

Impressed by this cozy cute café! Great to grab something to eat and drink. Nicely prepared, quick, and tasty. The texture of the bread for the sandwich was perfect. The service was really kind, and the atmosphere is perfect for a chill conversation or just go read something.

Delicious lemon poppyseed muffin and Cowboy drink of coffee and espresso. Such a vibe in there, perfect for people-watching and journaling. Very kind barista who made sure everything was okay for my nut allergy:)

Loved this coffee shop! We went to the Wired Monk twice during our stay in Halifax. The cappuccino was perfectly frothy, and the espresso was rich and flavorful. The owner was so friendly and welcoming, he even recognized us the second time we came in! Great vibes, excellent coffee, and amazing service. Highly recommend!

The best coffee shop in Halifax! The coffee (and pastries) were spectacular. The staff is friendly and helpful - they went above and beyond to help out with a travel issue. The place is inviting, with a lot of locals - and not too close to the cruise ship terminal, so not a big line of tourists. We were ‘locals’ for the week, and plan to come back.

Breakfast sandwich is awful. Had the Chipotle version, the egg is like a soggy sponge, and yet the sandwich was dry. The coffee was fine, the service was bare minimum, I would have preferred self service and save the tip. 3/5 because I am not going to try and hurt the stores rating over one visit but sandwich was awful.

Lovely spot! Bright & friendly. Quick service. Kid & pet friendly (patio for pets, water bowl outside). Great coffee. The menu has options for different dietary needs including gluten free & vegetarian. On-site parking available. I had the yogurt with berries & granola and a London Fog. Recommend both!

Extremely slow service for such simple dishes. It took 30 mins for things to start coming. The BLT and eggs Benedict were decent, but the receiver breakfast and grilled cheese + soup were not good at all. Potato soggy, bacon overcooked into chips, and rock hard toast.

-This is an odd, not a coffee shop, even though it looks like one. -Receiver has food and sit down table service, along with a lot of baked goods, that are top notch. And coffee. -Coffee is ok. Baked goods definitely worth checking out. Sourdough, lemon tart, butter tart, and another one we had were all excellent. -The identity crisis of coffee, baked goods, and food with table service is confusing. Wanted to sit and enjoy coffee, but then you’re taking up table space. There’s tables eating, and then there’s just ppl there working on computer.

Lovely, bright space to enjoy a quick meal of a nice coffee! I always really enjoy their Moroccan rice bowls, and their freshly baked breads are a staple! Their staff are attentive and thoughtful. Lovely place!

A very enjoyable breakfast with great food and coffee. Atmosphere was ambient but able to talk. Quesadilla tasted fabulous with a perfect balance of different ingredients and flavours.

The taste level of their espresso is top notch. If you are an espresso lover, I recommend the iced latte with half the milk to fully taste the espresso. Chefs kiss. The breakfast sandwich SLAPS, definite repeat order every time I visit. The bread, the bacon jam, the pickled onions, all work!!

Very cute little cafe with few seating upstairs. The menu selection is small with pastries made fresh daily and different items on different days of the week. The croissant is very good and is layers upon layers of crispy flakiness. Much more dense than I've ever had elsewhere, where most of it is air. Would recommend.

This little place is great. Good cappuccino and the croissants super flaky and nice. Been a long time since I had a croissant that deserved the name. The canélé are awesome too.

Wonderful little find near the Convention Centre. Real French feel…great coffees and eats. The canelé came warmed and had a beautiful soft centre. Macaroons are well priced and made in the Parisian style - delicious. Croissant delicious. Good value..

Stumbled into this little place by accident but immediately fell in love. Very quaint space, beautiful & delicious desserts! Pain au chocolat was perfect - not too much and not too sweet. Croissant dough is buttery light and flaky! I did enjoy my London Fog but my husband said his coffee wasn't very good. I will absolutely return to try more sweets!

This is such a cute little cafe. I had a latte and mocha which were both really good. I also had a vanilla and chocolate caneles which were not that good, didn’t taste like it was made fresh. The barista was really nice and the seating area was colourful.

To be honest, one of my favorite places to go, location is very good in the heart of the city, the old building added value where I felt the history when I was there. The patisseries are unique, French and delicious. Even you can't find them anywhere. I like the girl work over there she is welcoming, smiley face and friendly (I thought she is the owner). Layout, I like the layout and decorations. Prices are ($$), but worth it.p Working hours, I found they close very early, sometime we like to have coffee after 5pm, specially the business in the heart of the city Conclusion, really you should visit, and test macarons, they are frech. Well done

Cute place! Love the building. It's full of plants and the air smells fresh. Staff was pleasant and service was fast. Coffee was good and they accepted our mug. Licensed shop which is a nice little perk! Frittata was great - moist and fluffy and bite sized. Avocado toast was not my favorite but it was a creative combination of flavors that I'm sure some people would love! It had hemp and chia seeds plus mashed avo and a dollop of almond butter garnished with sprouts.

Great place to come, hangout and socialize. Everything on the menu is awesome. Staff is friendly and super nice. Everything is served fresh. Lovely atmosphere.

Carl and I dropped in to the Coburg Social for a coffee and a bite. Just love the atmosphere, the staff, the vibe....and of course the coffee and the food. One star was lost due to the high noise level, But that can't be helped. Great place to go.

One of the best in Halifax I have visited here already two times and I can tell you it’s amazing the service, breakfast, coffees…everything and huge space although it’s big but most of the it’s busy and just beside Dalhousie University. Great Cafe Bar.

Friendly staff, delicious food and competitive prices. Plenty of plant based options. The lines can get very long on the weekend so be aware of that. There are lovely seating spaces both inside and out. The vegan burger patty almost reminded me of a pakora which combined with the tzatziki, cucumber, tomato, and hummus came together to form a tasty combination of Greek and Indian inspired flavours.

Although the latte art was so simple, the latte was not simple😉 The coffee flavour was strong The milk foam was firm 😙 As for the BLT bagel, the bagel was chewy which matched well with coffee👍🏻

i wish they had the option to lower the sweetness of the matcha without lowering the amount of matcha :( that would make me very happy if they found a way to do that. but, overall i LOVE this place! such a great place to study and chat with friends. the food is a bit pricey and portion sizes could be better but everything tastes fantastic, i have yet to be disappointed. also a great selection of pastries and teas. as far as espresso goes though, it tastes pretty bitter/sour. i dont know if it’s cuz of the bean that’s used, or the machine, or the frequency at which the espresso machine is cleaned, but i cannot drink it black here (and most places i do drink my coffee/espresso without anything added). however, everything else about this place makes the espresso issue not even that big of a deal! i love it here! best soups in town.

A gf introduced me here as it’s her favorite coffee digs. Food: 5/5 -excellent lattes and good tea selection . They offer snacks and meals at reasonable prices. Service: 5/5 - friendly and pleasant service Atmosphere: 5/5 nice vibe to the place. Comfy and cosy seating options. There are seating options outside too.

This place is really nice and the staff were very friendly. The decor makes it feel cozy and well air conditioned. Though the clubhouse wasn’t really worth it for the wait especially for a to go order; other people who ordered a while after us seemed to get priority. I understand when a kitchen is short staffed however it just wasn’t a new favourite.

Extremely happy with this spot. I'm a crew member from one of the ships that docks in Halifax and having somewhere this nice just to chill and have a brunch it's just amazing. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Very good price, plus the service is very fast and the place is really cozy 😍🍁

This coffee shop is really cute. I love the decoration and ambiance of this place. I ordered a burrito breakfast (eggs and veggies with chipotle sauce), it was really good. I had a matcha latte, but honestly, I didn’t like it. If you are really into matcha I would suggest the iced Chai latte, that one was 10/10, so delicious. I also had a scrumptious berry muffin and energy ball (PB and oat.

A great little cafe in Bishops Landing complex. Great patio to relax for a few minutes and is a few steps removed from the busier part of the Halifax waterfront. Bathrooms were clean, which is always a plus in a high traffic/touristy area. I suspect it gets busy when there are cruise ships in but it was calm early in the morning for our visit. Outdoor patio has propane heaters for the chilly days but is also enclosed somewhat from the weather to help keep you dry.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were also so accommodating, my daughter loves Nutella sandwiches, and even though it wasn’t on the menu, they made one for her on sourdough bread and it was delicious. I had a double espresso, rich and smooth. The outdoor seating area is lovely, and indoors the atmosphere not too loud. Many people were working, and there are outlets available for charging laptops. I didnt try their food menu, so my stars are based only on what I had, but overall, an excellent spot.

I used to really like this place, but lately the coffee’s been all over the place. Some days it’s great—beautifully made with care. Other days, like today, it feels like they’ve just given up. I said I was staying in, but they still poured the coffee into a paper cup, no latte art, no effort. When I asked about it, they just said, “Do you want me to pour it in a cup?” It felt… off. If I could see their staff schedule, I’d honestly just come when the good barista is working. Today’s experience was a 1-star, but I’m giving it a 3 because I’ve had genuinely good coffee here before. What’s disappointing is this used to be one of the few spots on the waterfront that didn’t feel like a tourist trap. Now it feels like they’re getting too comfortable—like they know tourists will come anyway, so it doesn’t matter if the quality slips. That part kind of stings.

As someone who lives in Taiwan with a dedicated tea farmer down the road, I can only give this place my praise. I'm not sure if we spoke with the owner or an employee when we went, but I can confirm that he genuinely knew his stuff, and that he gave honest opinions and suggestions about all the teas. Keep it up, sir!

A tea lovers paradise. If you enjoy tea, you need to come here if you're in Halifax. If you're not a fan of tea, I suggest you try this place before making that judgement. They have a lot of unique and different tea flavors, and can make them for you iced or hot. They also have tables for you to sit at in or outdoors to enjoy your delicious beverage. A must visit for tea fans.

Had a very positive and genuine wholesome experience conversing with the barista, Madison. I was not from town and was feeling a bit homesick and she made me feel so at home. The extensive selection of exotic teas was also a plus. Highly recommend this place =)

One of my favourite places to visit, and get my loose leaf tea from! Phil and the team are knowledgeable and friendly, ready with excellent suggestions or enabling when you can't decide between teas (both is always the answer!) Can't wait until I'm back in the city for more tea stock-up!

Absolutely delicious tea here! The selection is amazing, there's a tea for every type of moment, feeling or celebration. I got Fruit Berry Blend and Turmeric Zest in Iced tea form with some sweetener and it truly made my day! The shop itself is lovely with space to sit inside and out. I also appreciate the owner who truly loves and cares about the tea they are offering to customers. I highly recommend anyone who enjoys tasty drinks to try this place out!

We went into the World Tea House to escape some rain, and it was a pleasure to visit. The staff member was extremely friendly and really knew all the answers to any questions we had. When asked to recommend a tea fitting a very vague description he delivered and it's one of the most unique (in a good way) mugs if tea I'd ever had. As a chance visit it couldn't have been better and would definitely return deliberately if I'm ever back in the city.

A huge variety of teas with passionate and knowledgeable staff. A very chill and friendly atmosphere, highly recommended if you wanna escape from the hustle and bustle of life for a little while :)

Great place to go for a delicious sandwich. I normally take my lunch to work but today was an exception. I had a simple chicken salad on lovely multigrain bread. It cost a little more than the (outdated, perhaps?) menu online. With the cost of food these days, I thought it was great quality and value for around $7.75 before tax. Staff aren’t in a hurry - that’s not a bad thing. If you are going for take out allow yourself a few extra minutes to get through the line and have your item prepared. Yum!

We really enjoyed the atmosphere of this lovely place! Staff were friendly, and the food was delicious. I had the fruit and granola parfait which was supposed to be a “snack” but was more than filling! Fresh fruit and tasty granola! Their dark roast drip coffee was also very good. My husbands sandwich - which he let me taste - was tasty and nicely toasted. This is a wonderful place to to stop and enjoy some coffee and food!

This is my go-to spot when I head into the office. I usually stop by first thing in the morning for a coffee and a muffin. They don’t open until 8, and I do wish they opened a bit earlier (around 7:30), but otherwise it’s a cute spot with limited seating. The coffee, muffins, and sandwiches are all great, and the staff are always so friendly.

I would call this place an example of a small cozy café with pleasant unobtrusive music that suits the place, and with tasty coffee menu. We ordered Americano Misto & Cafe Au Lait. Two different muffins(berry) & two cookies(chocolate, caramel-ginger). Cookies were normal but I really liked muffins more. Much more, they were very tasty and soft. And I really liked their coffee, I tried both. In addition, in the second menu there are many different options to eat, we did not order fool food here, but when the cook was preparing something, I smelled a very pleasant smell, something between cheese and caramel. Although I prefer to constantly find new places, I will definitely return here from time to time. And I advise you to do the same.

Loved everything! Great atmosphere, and sweets! You can fill your own water (think beer tap for water). My wife had a Maple Latte. She said it was amazing! My "straight up latte" was sooooo good! The best coffee we've had in recent memory! Outside seating is comfy!

Cozy cafe sums things up nicely. Stopped in for a quick bite and some java. Avacodo on toast was very good, a long with the chocolate croissant. Drip coffee was excellent, although I think I should have tried the maple latte. Looks really good.

Stopped by Café Lara and got an iced latte—absolutely incredible! Smooth, perfectly balanced, and refreshing. The café itself has such a welcoming and relaxed vibe, with a warm, friendly atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer. Whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee or settling in to work or chat, this place nails it. Definitely a new favorite spot!

I really liked this place. I wanted to find a place I can get my work done and I definitely found it. I ordered a vanilla iced latte which was pleasant as it didn't have the bitterness taste of overcooked coffee and the perfect amount of sweetness from the vanilla sweetener. One concern though is the price. I didn't expect it to be that much for a cup of coffee however the atmosphere and the great tasting coffee makes it worth the price.

The folks were very inviting and accommodating. My mom and I were cruising down the street when we came across the cafe. (I appreciate when cafes have the word cafe in the name, makes it easier to spot if you are looking for places while driving). I had an iced decaf coffee, it was a nice refreshing coffee with little bitterness afterwards. My mom had a cappuccino. She was hers was delicious. The food was lovely, we both got a breakfast sandwich on a bagel. The atmosphere is a laid back, cozy vibe, but very trendy at the same time. It feels like a cafe for millennials. They even have board games which I wasnt expecting, but its a nice touch. When we went (summer time) there was indoor and outdoor seating. They also bring the food and drinks to you, which I was not expecting, it was nice. I will certainly be going back in the future!

I came because I heard great things about this cafe. It’s super cute, great atmosphere and fun for groups of friends but… the coffee is so so bad. My moms hot vanilla latte was fine but mine were not. I tried two iced almond milk lattes. The first one was the salted caramel (new flavour), it was undrinkable. It tasted like a salt packet was mixed with coffee (there was no caramel). If you like sea salt lattes this one is for you! So after two sips I ordered an iced vanilla latte. It was so sour but it was almost $9 so I drank half. Maybe I just went at a bad time? I’ll try again in a couple months.

This Cafe has a great vibe and the coffee was pretty good. The breakfast sandwich was expensive but tasty. The cortado I ordered was served in a large mug which was an interesting choice. All in all it was a solid cafe, but nothing outstanding.

I was in yesterday just grabbing a coffee with my friend; as far as good vibes and coffee go, this place is definitely nice overall, and I was satisfied with my visit. But I'm going the extra mile and writing a review simply because of the service I received; the employee's were welcoming, friendly and talkative, and I could see a young girl in particular took a lot of care in ensuring customers felt welcomed and valued. ☕️Finally! A real coffee house located in Sackville. 1st time here, great Capps, great croissants. Seriously I was going to do take-out (take-away- as it’s said in Europe or Asia) but the atmosphere and music was so relaxing I stayed for over an hour... when it cannot be helped having croissant 🥐 flakes all over you know it’s worth it! Like being in Europe again. Definitely will be returning here. Great staff too ;) thank you TAD S. for sharing this place🤗

Having a delightful and restful break between errands at the Glitter Bean Cafe, on the corner of Spring Garden and Carleton, Halifax. The staff are friendly, and the coffee and the Artichoke/Red Pepper/Mozerella Tea Buiscuit are delicious. Check out their menu and visit the next time you are in the area. Highly recommended.

A gem so close to the Tupper Medical building. I stopped into the Glitter Bean in the afternoon for a tea and a blueberry muffin and it was so good! Saved the day. I had to get my order to go but it is a very bright, cute spot where it is also nice to sit and chill a while.

I passed this cafe by chance and I am really glad I stopped by to check it out. It’s an old house converted to a cafe like a lot of small cafe and store in Halifax. It’s an old house and it surely gave a very homey comfy feel inside. It’s a big place for a cafe, they have several options for sitting area. They have communal table, high table and chairs, sofa for lounging and regular 2-4 seater tables. I ordered Fudge Brownie to go because I am in a hurry but will definitely come back here for a sit down meal and just to relax.

I was exploring Halifax and saw this place near the public gardens, they have the best iced mocha that I've ever had. I'll be back next time I'm in the city, they're great. And the barista was very friendly.

The server was wonderful, they were friendly and helpful. And made me the best iced mocha I have ever had. I made sure to get a stamp card, as I will definitely be a regular from now on!

Spicy Peanut grilled sandwich was literally the best sandwich I have ever eaten. And I eat a LOT of sandwiches. Great vibe with awesome upbeat old school hip hop playing and even better beer on tap. 10/10 could not recommend more!!

Good coffee and great food. The atmosphere was relaxed with a nice shaded back patio. I ordered the bagel sandwich with pulled pork and really enjoyed it. The service was slow as there was only one person working and she had to make several sandwiches.

Stopped in for some breakfast and was happy that we did. Good coffee and tasty menu items at this hip little spot! The menu has great options but isn't huge, which is nice sometimes. We liked the seating area in the back, enclosed patio, and they were playing great music!

Sad to say we had an underwhelming experience here. Nonchalant service, took an hour to get our food. In what world does it take an hour to make sandwiches, especially when you're the only customers in there? Arrived for brunch on Sunday and it appeared to be closed, so we motioned to the girl working, she came to the door and we asked if it was open. She responded with "Well, is it after 10?" It was 10:10. Not a great start and the experience derailed from there. Coffee and sandwich were good, as well as the atmosphere. Terrible service!

This place is one of the cities best kept secrets! Geared towards the lunch crowd, it's a very welcoming, locally owned and operated Oasis nestled right in the heart of the city on Quinpool road. They always have the friendliest staff, great coffee Tea and other delicious beverage options (I'm partial to the "Shot in the Dark") and a great selection of popular favourites of local beer on tap! The Other Bean also has some of the best sandwiches going in Halifax right now, with a great selection of cold and grilled options always incredibly fresh, healthy, hearty and sourced from local providers of fine foods, many of which can be found at the Halifax Farmer's Market. If you've not been here yet, then I'm afraid you've been missing out! Drop in sometime, you won't be disappointed!

I have never written a review before, but today I felt disappointed with the service here. I ordered three of my favourite cups on my mobile device, using the same customized recipe that I have ordered many times before. However, they prepared two hot cups and one cold cup in the same order. I was surprised and asked them why they made different cups with the same recipe. The lady quickly responded, "You ordered the wrong recipe, and we did it correctly." I wanted to clarify what happened, as I had always gotten cold cups in my previous orders. Fortunately, another employee took the time to explain it to me clearly.

I cannot express how grateful I am for the amazing service at this Starbucks! I called ahead to let them know I’d be a few minutes late after their closing time, as I desperately needed coffee for my wife who has been feeling sick all week. To my surprise, the team was incredibly accommodating and told me they’d have the coffee ready for me if I arrived just a couple minutes after closing—no problem at all. They really went above and beyond to help me out and their kindness meant so much. I was able to grab the coffee, pay, and head straight home to my wife. It's rare to encounter such genuine customer care. Thank you for making my day just a little bit easier and brighter! Thank you ASHLEY..😊

Wouldn't normally review a fast food or coffee spot, but I had to pop into this starbucks for a quick oat-latte before a busy day and I had a great experience. Friendly staff, good coffee, quick service.

I visited this place today at 7:40 PM and noticed a sign indicating that only the drive-thru was open until 8 PM. However, when I tried to place my order at the drive-thru, the lady at the counter appeared bend and hide to ignore me. We waited for 5 mins and she still didn't appear and we left the store without ordering. This isn’t the first time this has happened. I am really disappointed.

I'd give less than one star if the option was there. The service I received from this location has completely turned me off to Starbucks entirely. I will never ever spend another dollar with this franchise.

Normally a great experience at Starbucks, but unfortunately not today. The manager refused to give me my free drink even though I had enough points, citing a problem with my account and that I had to call the 1800 number. I have had the same issue at different locations, but they were able to resolve the problem. This manager however said “we cannot keep giving you free drinks”. Disappointing to say the least.

We were just passing by and wanted a simple hot coffee or beverage. For a start, their machine was off which was not their fault but it didn’t make sense that they could make coffee with milk but not a latte or a capuchino, they did not have many donuts, the employees where kind of in a bad mood (which is understandable for how busy they were), I feel like everything went wrong for them and they just couldn’t provide the needs of the customers. I ended up ordering an iced coffee with milk that just tastes average, the cold brew also tasted average. The prices are at least reasonable.

Disaster location. The bathrooms were third-world country awful. Garbage overflowing. Completely disgraceful. The order taker didn’t know how to punch in the order. Had to repeat myself 3x and she still found a way to get it wrong. Then the staff argued with me when I brought it to their attention. Had to wait forever for my sandwich.

This is one of the busiest Tim Hortons in downtown Halifax. They should take better care of the tables for those costumers who prefer to sit inside. Some tables were really dirty and in urgent need of some cleaning.

Charge an extra dollar for cream cheese and this is what you get. Shane on this place and the people who work here. The woman you have making the food in the morning needs to be fired IMMEDIATELY. Seriously is this acceptable to you disgusting people?

The floor was dirty and sticky, a lot of garbage, papers. The restaurant was not busy, the three girls - workers were talking nicely to each other. Cleanliness is the last thing on the restaurant workers' minds. I didn't want to order anything more than coffee.

This is a very busy Tims, but I have asked for my coffee many times, and it is touch and go. Sometimes, the coffee is full, and others not. There is a gentleman who is absolutely amazing and always has a smile on. I love being served by him because he is so nice.

Do not try their new pizza , its a waste of money. I ordered one and its just garbage quality. pizza sauce was not spreaded and there was close to no chese. The item which you can see in pictures are nowhere near to pizza. Just disappointed with their pizza.

Bravo! Lion and Bright has more than hit the mark. Amazing food, excellent coffee and delish latte. The best french toast I have ever eaten. Gorgeously presented, incredibly delisious comfort foods driven by heart and soul. The industrial design interior is fun and eclectic featuring local artists that fuse beautifully with the boho rustic fusion kind of vibe. Our waitress Kia was so lovely and the chef even came over to thank us for our compliments that we were shouting to him in his open concept kitchen. We spent over 2 hours and enjoyed ever moment of it all. Thank you Lion and Bright. You nailed it! If I lived in Halifax this would be my second home. You gotta eat here!

Nice space, and I liked how everything seemed to be locally sourced or house made. (It's attached to a locally sourced market.) Presentation was good. The burger was dry but flavorful. The fries were good, and the chocolate mousse was really nice. Service was friendly but slow. Price was reasonable. Not an excellent first impression, but I'd try again.

Fantastic restaurant! I haven't had that hard of a time deciding what to order in a long time, everything on the menu sounded amazing. After about 3 flip flops I ended up ordering a charcuterie selection and some olives. It was delicious and fresh. Lion and Bright prides itself on its quality and use of local and regionally sourced ingredients. The server was excellent as well. I will definitely be back.

Absolutely love the place. Delicious food, great coffee, and good drinks too. Good for laptop working in the day, but don't expect to be allowed to get a laptop out in the evening. Loved the three course valentine's day special!!

Went for breakfast and the pastry was cold. The staffs seemed just busy that they didn’t make little effort of heating up a cold egg puff. Also had a cupcake which was dry and stale. Though I like their loaf, it is overpriced pastry and overrated place.

Visited their new location in Brewery Market recently. The decor was funky and relaxed and although the selection was small, the pastries were unbelievable! Service was friendly too. Looking forward to going again soon.

As I walked to work everyday, I slowly watched as this place became an empty husk of a venue to the brilliant bakery it is today. I've never had a dessert there I didn't like (even some that I was reluctant to try). The staff was always friendly. Their burger week special was an excellent out-of-the-box idea and was worth its price.

Went here for some breakfast food and coffee and found that everything was way overpriced. I didn't think the food was amazing - it was ok, but definitely not worth what they're charging. Also if you're average male height or above make sure to duck under the lighting fixture they have in the washroom.

Pleasant service. Amazing baked goods. Would recommend the donuts if you want to try something unique and amazing. They also sell travel mugs, ceramic coffee filters, and locally made tea and coffee. Can occasionally get crowded by popular demand. But that is no fault of the store, other than being so good.

While set in a dated decor, the old apothecary offers an amazing Cinnamon Bun. A bit undercooked for my taste but still very much decadent. Perfect to finish your week with your favorite cup of coffee

First saw this bakery on the Food network show; Baking Sisters (I think it's called). So while in Halifax, I had to check it out. The aroma of their bread is intoxicating! If it wasn't for us staying in a hotel (and doing no meals in room) I would have tried their breads. It was hard not to buy! We were too late for croissants or cinnamon buns. I'm betting they sell out fast. But the lemon tart we had was wonderful! Also, (not pictured) we tried a mini orange cake with mascarpone icing, which was also yummy. My next visit to Halifax, will include another stop here. And next time I'm coming for bread!

April 29. Lucky Penny coffee co Totally cute wifi password. Lovely staff. Tax included, always nice. High average price for latte - very tasty, well done, but not really warm enough to get through on a slow sip. Very limited menu or choices. So main focus is the liquid. Cute decor... Very close quarters .. unfortunately a very loud talker who thinks everyone wants to hear her go on and on. Felt worse for the hipster trying to read his book. Bllllllaaaaaaaahhhhhhh. OMG will you please shut up lady?? Parking limited .. Got lucky to find a spot very close. Washrooms decent size but didn't feel clean. Ultimately the loud talker ruined it.

This cute little cafe is located on Quinpool Rd., and offers speciality coffees and delicious baked goods. Prices are on par with others in the neighbourhood and generally service is fast. The inside space is a bit small and awkward if you're with more than two people. I suggest the 'Kitchen Sink' cookies. At $3/each, these will fulfill all your sweets/chocolate needs for the rest of the day!

Location is very cozy, with a bright setting thanks to the open storefront. Prices are fine, service is fine. The Americano isn't exactly the best Americano I've had, but by no means is it bad.

If you have a moment to sit back and relax with the locals and clear your thoughts from rhe hussle and bustle of tourism it is a great place to visit.

A sweet, cozy coffee spot with great decor, calm acoustic music and lively conversation. They have their own merch, delicious drinks and comfortable mismatched furniture. They also sell local artists work on the walls, a really nice touch!

Nice place. Good location. It was quiet we were there around 1700. We liked the art work on the walls and the bathroom was clean. I got a dark roast from Vienna. I would give It 2.5 out of 5. My partner got a hot chocolate. She enjoyed that alot. She was very pleases with the whipped cream on the too. I'll return at some point to try their other been selactions. :)

How happy am I to have stumbled upon this lucky penny, a great space for kicking back with a book or even to have a meeting. Beautiful interior to match the fresh food and awesome espresso. The seating is well laid out and the lighting is great.

Fresh tasting fish with a beautiful bun, and nice coleslaw. Staff are very friendly and the porch, although small, is very nice. Shaded and overlooks the dock The toast for breakfast was nicely toasted with the perfect amount of butter. The side of jam was tasty as well

French toast was good, not too sweet. Atlantic poached egg was perfectly balanced. The haddock burrito has a nice flavour but was too heavy on the carrots. Also tried their specialty the day before which was Thai Green Curry Mussels but was disappointed as you could barely taste the curry. Nice decor and a slight cozy feel. The staff was friendly.

Tried the breakfast at this spot. The deck view is beyond words and a wonderful experience. The food was pretty good but nothing spectacular. The lobster Benedict could have been fresher. Their coffee was also really nice. Nice little brunch spot when you're in town.

Wonderful location with a great view, but the food was disappointing. We tried the mussels, which were not that fresh and lacked flavor punch. Our experience at other places with PEI Mussels has been way better. The lobster roll was total letdown. The filling was just slathered in mayo and lacked complete balance. The sunrise tequila drink was okaish. They have a great view and location but need to focus on the food for the long term.

Fast paced but efficient, very busy café, especially for breakfast. The staff were constantly busy and attentive to the customers. Food was well cooked as requested ( over hard eggs ) The deck view is fantastic if one can get a seat out on the deck.

Absolutely wonderful customer service and truly DELICIOUS food!!! I had the card fish cake and my friend had the smoked salmon. Both were 10 out of 10. And to finish off, we had the famous from and raisin cake which was to die for! So thanks to other reviewers who recommended it! The view of the waters is beautiful from here. Looking forward to coming back again!

While waiting for move in day for my daughter’s apartment we decided on a quick day trip to Lunenburg to visit this quaint town but we needed some lunch. So we decided on The Savvy Sailor. We enjoyed our patio meal and seeing the view. The girl had a Fish Burger and the Dad had the Thai wrap w/ side Caesar salad. Also paired with a local shipwright brewing Golden Ale. Fish Burger was made of haddock and cooked perfectly. Coleslaw was tasty. The Thai wrap was a nice mix of vegetables and chicken. Definitely full of flavour. A tad drippy of the wrap but still tasty. Worth a try if you’re there.

Quite simply - wow! I had read a recommendation about stopping here at the beginning of a Cabot Trail drive and it did not disappoint. In fact, it exceeded all expectations. Really nice people and great food.

This place truly is a gem in Margaree Valley and is popular among locals and tourists. During our 5-day stay in Margaree Valley, we came here every morning, except on Monday when it’s closed. I would dare to say that this was best food and cappuccino we had on Cape Breton. We tried every sandwich on the menu and we were always amazed at the quality and taste of every sandwich. You could tell that lot of care was put into each sandwich. The cappuccinos were an amazing start to our day every day. The latte art was different each day, with just goes to show you the attention to detail that the staff puts into everything. We tired the blueberry pancakes, maple butter shortbread cookies, and cinnamon rolls and they were absolutely delicious. The service and atmosphere were also phenomenal! I would highly recommend this cafe.

I've been a customer of this establishment for over 10 years. Normally it's a 4.5 to a 5 star visit. Recently there was a change in my usual order on their end, a whole sandwich on gluten free bread (normaly 2 small sandwiches to compensate for the gf bread slices being small), which I had paid extra money for (almost $19 total for the meal). Once I addressed the issue to the staff, it was somewhat resolved, however, not without first causing some grief. This put a damper on my visit to beautiful Margaree on that day. Because of my most recent experience, I will now be considering other options for lunch when traveling to the area. Kudos to the ladies who work at the front counter. They are always busy and try their best to look after their customer's needs. The second photo is what I typically receive. The first photo is a representation of what they provided initially. Based on the response below from the owner and after them taking over 2 months to reply, I won't be returning. I wish them well with their business though.

A fabulous place to eat on the Cabot Trail! I had the mango mustard ham sandwich and Moroccan Carrot soup for lunch which was amazing! Then went back for dessert later. You won't regret stopping here!

Just got back from a two-week road trip from Pennsylvania, and we still can’t stop talking about their breakfast sandwich! Hands down, one of the best — if not the best — we’ve ever had. The homemade cheddar and green onion biscuit was perfection, and everything inside (we went with bacon) was absolutely delicious. Even the coffee was amazing. I really wish we had more time in the area to enjoy the other items on their menu (or have another DG breakfast sandwich)

Charming but overrated. Pancakes were dense and tasted like flour. Order at the counter, they bring your food to the table. Service was average. Table was uneven and wobbly.

Absolutely FANTASTIC experience! We came from the UK and were so impressed with this beautiful little cafe. The food was absolutely delicious (I recommend the bumbleberry pie) and the staff could not have been friendlier! We had wonderful conversations with many of the staff members who all went out of their way to ensure we had a lovely time at the cafe but also gave us lots of tips for our trip to Cape Breton! Would thoroughly recommend this cafe to anyone in the area!

We visited for the first time on our way to the Alexander Graham Bell Museum and instantly understood why it’s a crowd favourite. Even with lots of parking around, the café was bustling, but the staff were so thoughtful, meeting you at the end of the line to explain the baked goods and make sure you didn’t miss out. I loved the bacon grilled cheese with its sweet red pepper jelly, and my husband’s Italian deli sandwich on focaccia was hugely incredible. We couldn’t resist the homemade poptarts either: one bursting with bumbleberries, the other cozy with spiced apples. My husband loved the sweets so much he had to go back for a classic date square before we hit the road! The café’s bright, bold colours and cheerful energy made it such a lovely stop.

What a gem! We came to Baddeck to sample Cape Breton and tour the Cabot Trail we just might come back for the coffee. When you walk in the door you are welcomed by the owner who will tell you her favorites among the baked goods. Her son took our order and wouldn’t let us walk away without sharing a few “must see” items on our trail visit. The decor is so comfy and friendly and seriously, the coffee. Come for a coffee and maybe stay for a weekend.

Our favourite breakfast spot during our stay in Nova Scotia. It’s a bit pricy. However, it’s worth it. Cute atmosphere, excellent service and food. They even had gluten free options for my mom. We also did their Cabot Trail boxed lunches. The sandwiches are hefty. Must stop!

Absolutely fabulous coffee, the bagel lox was exactly how it should be and the house made bagel was spectacular. I could have eaten two. I had a latte and an Americano, both were delicious and they roast the beans in house! They also have fabulous merch and the staff are so friendly, attentive and helpful. I will be going back again ASAP. Edit: I have now been three times in as many days! The bagels are spectacular, both the lox + shmear and the breakfast sandwich are scrumptious. They are neither Montreal nor New York bagels, they are a special Cape Breton bagel made from a 100-year old recipe and they are light and flavourful and robust enough to hold the sandwich fillings perfectly. I will plan my next trip to Cape Breton to make sure I come back for my Caper bagel fix!

The Highwheeler Café in Baddeck is a true hidden gem! The staff were so warm and welcoming — genuinely friendly and eager to serve. You can feel the pride they take in every dish. The seafood chowder was outstanding — creamy, flavorful, and packed with mussels, haddock, salmon, clams, and more. The cheddar cheese biscuit alongside it was perfectly flaky and comforting. And don’t skip dessert! The pie had a buttery, homemade crust and the carrot cake was moist, perfectly spiced, and topped with rich cream-cheese frosting. A must-visit in Cape Breton for anyone who loves great food, friendly people, and genuine local charm.

Amazing bagel!!! (All the food, actually.) I hear sesame bagel and cringe, BUT, this bagel was the perfect combo of substance, fluff, and crunch, with a delicious taste, and the sesame seeds are not overwhelming!!! I will tie this bagel with my favourite nyc bohemouth (but they are very different styles!!). I asked about the bagel, and it turns out they make it in-house! The latte was also well-balanced (please dont judge my preference for iced, but had I known they roast their own beans in advance, I would have gotten the pure stuff). My family got the turkey sandwich, a bagel with schmier, and carrot cake, and loved it all. We did come in as part of a tour. The cafe handled us efficiently and kindly, but also balanced their regular customer balance. It was a brief but very pleasant stop. Highly recommend.

We had a very good lunch at the Bean Barn Cafe. We had a cheese and ham sandwich and a bowl of chilly. The quality was very good. The staff was friendly and very fast. Also the interior of the cafe was nice. I can advice anyone to go and have breakfast or lunch at the Bean Barn Cafe.

Everything was amazing and fresh! We ordered breakfast and seafood Chowder. The most memorable for me was the homemade toast. Also ordered ice mocha and even the drink was amazing. I am coming back here tomorrow!

Had a veggie wrap which was delicious - definitely would recommend the sandwiches. I had a French vanilla latte and my boyfriend had a basic latte and unfortunately they tasted like hot water. I was disappointed they have machine coffee at a ‘cafe’. The key lime pie also wasn’t the best, didn’t taste very home made and not much lime flavour. If you’re looking for a good coffee/cafe this is not your best bet, but for a quick sandwich/deli it was great.

Amazing homemade food! This place is amazing! They make delicious, homemade comfort food. Large portions. Great place for breakfast. I recommend the baked beans and fish cake for breakfast. It may sound strange to have fish cakes for breakfast but it was delicious! The baked beans were also good. Make sure you get a slice of their homemade pies to go before you get back on the Cabot Trail! The people who work there are so friendly, a good break from the smug, hipster-barista attitude that is all too common in Vancouver.

Sign outside says everything homemade. Just got regular breakfast. It was good but disappointed the toast was not homemade nor was the jam. Smaller portions of food. Potatoes were good but minimal.

I was in beautiful Mahone Bay this past May 2019. I began frequenting this casual but super comfortable cafe, and every time was greeted by friendly staff! Ordering was easy upon entry, and whether it was a meal or a cuppa tea and sweets, I was pleasantly served within a reasonable amount of time! My fondest memories were sitting among the variety of books, and interesting decor. I'll be back:)

One of the best breakfast sandwiches my boyfriend and I have ever had! This is a very cute cafe tucked away in Mahone Bay, and it's totally worth the trip! It feels like a tea party and bookstore mashed into one. Great food and friendly staff. We're definitely going to miss the biscuits!

An amazing little restaurant that was always a go-to treat in NS. Sadly the owners have had to pivot their offerings and their in-dining will change to pickup-only for sandwiches and pastries. This was a fantastic location for afternoon tea when you wanted to splurge a bit, or we're celebrating something truly special. Staff was amazing, people here were so friendly, we will always remember our times here. I think we were the last to have tea service ever. Local community hub, they also sold relevant local products like old posters or reprints. They will be missed as a restaurant, and lots of possibilities if they sell the antique house.

Quaint little cafe. Think it's popular for afternoon tea, but my wife and I stopped by to take out some goodies on our way to explore Mahone Bay and Lunenburg. We got the blueberry tart (great buttery shell, strong blueberry compote), lemon tart (ditto with all the goodness), dark chocolate carmelita (oaty bar which was nicely chewy, though would have liked a stronger dark chocolate cake) and cookie (super soft). While really pricey, it's obvious Biscuit Eater takes pride in the quality and care it puts in it's products. The owner mentioned they may be shutting down soon and moving on, so if you're in the area, stop by before they go - it's a definite treat!

This is the best high tea you can get in Nova Scotia. There is a very relaxed air here so you can sit and enjoy for however long you'd like. The food is absolutely delicious and their teas are local. A genuinely Nova Scotian gem, that has local authors and supports all the right causes. I will definitely be back!

Lovely little place, nice to see it doing so well! I will say if you’re coming on a weekend, don’t come if you’re in a rush. We went and there was a long wait to get our food, but it was understandable due to how busy it was. The staff were all very friendly and the food was delicious! I would 100% go again to see if we just caught them on an off day. I got the afternoon tea tower and asked for it to be vegetarian, and it was awesome.

Yo, straight up the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. It was so good that my friend and I came back the next morning and had it again before leaving NS.

Delicious Treats, Great Coffee, and Even Better Service! We stopped at Jo-Ann’s in Mahone Bay on the recommendation of our amazing tour guide—and we’re so glad we listened! This cozy café/deli is full of charm, just like the town itself. We came in for a dessert break and were blown away by the cheesecake—rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. The coffee was just as impressive—smooth, bold, and exactly what we needed to recharge for the rest of our day. They also have a great selection of quality eats, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff were incredibly friendly—truly some of the nicest people we’ve encountered on our trip. If you’re visiting Mahone Bay, Jo-Ann’s is a must-stop. Whether you’re after a sweet treat, a good cup of coffee, or just a friendly place to relax, this spot has it all.

Quirky, colorful facade. Eating area on patio, lots of deli choices for lunch like Mac & cheese, lasagna, sausage rolls, salt cod cakes, etc and bakery treats like jam print cookies, chocolate macaroons, oatcakes, etc fresh fruits and there is an ice cream parlour.

Every time I go to my home Bay I must get a date square at Jo-anns. Everything I've ever had from there has been fantastic Period

Jo-Ann's is a cute little market style shop in Mahone Bay with a little of something for every appetite, especially those with a sweet tooth! I've had savory and sweet treats here, and by far the sweets are the standout. A friend professes that their pies are the best they've ever had! While I'm a little biased towards another source, all dessert lovers will find a place in their hearts for Jo-Ann's. Note that the outdoor patio is lovely, and there is a washroom on site, even though it doesn't look like it!

Herring Choker sandwich was delicious and quite big. Tasty coffee. Bit more expensive than what I would normally give for breakfast, but the food was good, so worth it.

There aren’t enough words to explain how much I love this place. The atmosphere is second to none. The staff are so friendly. When you walk in, it feels like home. The food is phenomenal, I have tried finding food this good elsewhere and have failed every time. A trip to Cape Breton is never complete without being able to stop for a sandwich and salad. You can’t go wrong with a fudge brownie as well!

Herring Choker club one day and lobster roll the next day. Amazing food and service. P.S. their oat cakes are also amazing.

I loved stopping by this little deli for lunch on the Cabot Trail journey. The sandwiches are to die for - I recommend the club. There are also lots of fresh baked breads and goodies available! Everyone who works there is very kind and friendly. Inside is very cozy, and the outdoor patio is nice, although the road is very loud. I would love to come back some time!

Fantastic sandwiches, I got a half smoked beef and half turkey. They whipped them up quick and I enjoyed them at a stop along the cabot trail. Delicious.

This is a cute spot that serves soups, sandwiches, snacks, baked goods and drinks. They have several types of delicious bread. The food is tasty and the lattes are fantastic. They also sell local goods- teas, spices, books and so on.

Limited selection in the menu, but the sandwiches are delicious!! The lattes were “meh”, unfortunately. A bit bland. Service was excellent. Prices were MUCH better than the tourist traps in Baddeck and surrounding areas.

What the millenial grey interior lacked in atmosphere, was made up for by the delicious cookie and intensely flavourful chai latte

Bagels were fresh. We both had everything bagels with bacon, egg & cheese. Super yummy! Service to the table. We sat outside in the sunshine. Forgot to take photos of what we ordered. Coffees are large which was perfect for our first of the day!

Great coffee and a very simple place, but coffee speaks volumes. A nice little cafe in baddeck on old margaree rd near the Alexander Graham bell historic site. Coffee was nice. Tried the dragons breath roast which is a dark roast. Nice strong flavour that doesn’t leave any bitter aftertaste. Service was good. Nothing bad to say there and nothing that stood out, which is always good. But everyone here seemed super nice. There is also a little patio out front to enjoy the cozy heritage feel of the strip while enjoying your coffee as well. There’s a little parking lot in front as it is in a little strip of stores, but seems to fill up quickly so you may have to resort to street parking. Great job

This place has THE best latte in town. The barista was nice enough to make me one with whipping cream instead of regular 2% milk! Delish!

Quirky little place on Baddeck's main road. Excellent coffee. Limited menu with bagels, bagel sandwiches, and paninis, but the sandwiches we ordered were delicious. Service was friendly and quick. Fortunately we arrived just before the cruise buses, which disgorge enough tourists to overwhelm most of the small businesses on "the strip." :(

Beautiful location with their own beach. The owner is very knowledgeable and accommodating, and his food is absolutely delicious!

We stayed at the Moose in June of 2024. Ton was a fantastic host and made us feel right at home. The cabins were lovely and the shower/washroom facilities were clean. We woke up at 4:30am and walked down to the beach to watch the sunrise… what a sensational view! Tom’s breakfast was also delicious and we said we would go back if we came back to Cape Breton. Fast forward to October 2025 (they were closed) and we brought my father-in-law to drive the Cabot Trail to see the Autumn foliage… so we stopped by to take a picture to send to Ton and his wife to show we came back 😃

It’s nice environment and good vibes. Breakfast was good. Good to stop for a while for your meal and also you can buy some souvenirs.

Love the food, the people, the place and overall experience. If you are going to Cabot Trail please make this a necessary stop and make sure to try their own version of pancakes. Ask for Chef’s special. They also collect all the moose drawings by visitors. They have a beautiful waterfront albeit super rocky and cottages looks so nice but we were not staying, we just went for breakfast.

This was the best cafe I have visited in NS by far. There was only a couple tables that faced the waterfront and the staff were friendly. I tried their farmer pannenkoeken (dutch crepes) and thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a lot of cheese but it was very flavorful with bits of peppers, onions, mushroom, and ham. The best dish however was their Soup du jour. It was a spicy, herby vegetable chicken soup and it was some of the best I have ever had.

We stayed in one of the cabins overnight and could not recommend it more. It’s extremely cozy and rustic but with all the amenities you might want. We appreciated the space heater for our mid October stay. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. We saw the most beautiful sunrise over the beach in the morning. We saw seal heads poking out of the ocean! It was the perfect end to our trip. Breakfast at the cafe was absolutely delicious. We loved the moose art from customers all over the walls. Overall this place is definitely worth a visit and we will certainly be back when we get back to the area.

A friend recommended we stop and try the PANNENKOEK or Dutch pancakes, very similar to Yorkshire pudding, but much sweeter, served with icing sugar, fresh fruit and a lovely helping of whipped cream on top. It was heavenly! Caroline and I shared a 12” pancake and I’m ever so slightly regretful that I had to share. Along with the congenial host, the Dancing Moose Cafe made a wonderful stop along the Cabot Trail, and we will be sure to visit again. Update: 2022-08-26 Our second visit. The food and service were fantastic, and I enjoyed every mouthful of the pancakes. I'm looking forward to visit next year.

The coffee was great, the guys at the counter were nice. The only thing is the cafe itself - not the most pleasant environment, some tables inside, but not cozy enough to make you want to stay.

This is a great little indie coffee shop in downtown Sydney, NS. I came here looking for good coffee and this place did not disappoint! I had a cafe latte and a cheese and onion scone. Both were delicious. This place has a cool vibe, with wooden tables and chairs, retro knick knacks and games. They even have "Sydneyopoly", a local version of Monopoly. The premises were clean and inviting. The staff were pleasant and service was quick. This place seemed to attract regulars, locals meeting for a coffee, and tourists. Really, if you like great coffee, this is a great place. I look forward to coming back again soon.

I've been visiting the Doktor Luke's every time I'm in Sydney, and I was surprised and disappointed by my recent visit. What happened to the friendly cozy place that I look forward to visiting every summer!!! Not sure if it's new ownership or was a bad day. Fortunately, there are new local cafe options in Downtown Sydney.

Perhaps I visited at a bad day or time, but this was a pretty not great coffee shop, and ive been to a lotttttt of coffee shops Disclaimer, I was there right after open, so maybe just not morning people Service was pretty cold and short, kind of seemed like the staff really wasn't happy to be there Only food options were a couple saran-wrapped baked goods behind the counter, kind of unfortunate that all the pictures of eggs benedicts and croissants from past customers seem to be out of date and no longer available. and to be honest, i may have had the worst mocha I've ever had here - unfortunately tasted like a 1/4 tsp of hot chocolate powder was added to some instant coffee. God, even writing this makes me feel bad and icky, so I'd really love to stress that perhaps they were having a bad day, maybe they needed more time to open, maybe some things were out of stock etc. I genuinely would love to come back and try again because I'm a bit confused why this is the go-to cafe in Sydney, sorry!

Came in for decafe coffees and even tried their chia seed balls which were lovely. Nice little spot and great to be able to support local establishments.

Great cup of coffee for a long day ahead. Plenty of seating, friendly staffs. Freshly baked bakery, too bad I was too full to try them. Reasonable price.

They inadvertently (I hope) put salt water in my iced coffee. Salt water they made or from the sea, I have no idea. I brought the drink back to the counter telling them there was something very wrong with it after one sip. They made me a replacement espresso. Later, when I was leaving, they told me they had some salt water in the fridge and I guess mistakenly put it in my drink. They didn't seem malicious about it, but I wouldn't ever trust getting a drink from them again.
