My husband and I eloped in Germany in the fall, so for our little wedding celebration with friends and family this past weekend my mom ordered a bunch of pretzels to give to everyone. They reminded us so much of our trip! So yummy and beautiful! We ordered cookies too and they were absolutely beautiful, everything was delicious ! Awesome customer service too, we would definitely order from them and will have to pop in for a pretzel! 🥨

Today is my friend’s birthday and I planned to get a pumpkin pie for her. Only it has to be from Gingerbread Haus. Six years ago, my first autumn in Canada, I randomly walked into Gingerbread Haus. Didn’t know what to pick, I chose to try the seasonal special, the pumpkin pie with whipped cream. It was amazing, so unforgettable. The next time I walked in the shop. Sorry, the pumpkin pie was SOLD OUT. Just like this, year after year, when it was in season, they sold out quickly; when it was not in season, no pumpkin pies. Maybe you can give it a try on Easter. I was told so. I tried. No Easter pumpkin pies. The bakeries were so good and business went so well that making pumpkin pies on Easter was not possible. Luckily I stayed all these years in the same neighborhood and still have friends living nearby. After another random but magic afternoon walk, I pulled open the shop door and found the pumpkin pies available again. Yes, this year we have the luck to enjoy another Gingerbread Haus pumpkin pie. Tastes like the best part of life.

Outstanding! I had been disappointed by several “bakeries” along the Cabot Trail. They left me wanting baked goods when we got back in Halifax. And the Gingerbread Haus delivered! What an amazing selection they had. After our first visit, we immediately returned for more. I had the almond ring on our walk through the Point Pleasant park and it held up the whole way. See the pics for prices and products. Service was pleasant. Staff behind the counter could describe each item in detail. The only downside was that they aren’t open until 9am. Well worth the wait. You must visit this bakery if you are in the area!

In last few years store became worse and worse... I did love that store, and I remember when you guys got open, and my family always was customers for cakes there, even few times we had coffee in, not to go. But last few times I got not fresh slice of cake, and not fresh full cake. With memories, that mistakes could happened and everyone deserve second chance, I start to visit not that often. But last time on Thursday July 10th I came to buy Rum bowls for a family gathering, first for so little desert price jump high from last time I bought it. and when I bought 5 of them, each cost $4.05, with tax I spend more than $23. and cashier did put them in small brown bag! when you selling desert for $4+ and its few of them, you serving it like piece of garbage or leftovers in brown bag. No, I'm not coming back. To sell old deserts, and after treat customers like a garbage after giving you another chance... this place not for me!

A simple bakery with delicious baked goods. Service was friendly, helpful and patient. Selection was excellent even when I came near the end of their day, and everything was amazing. Got Almond Wheels, Mozart's, Gingerbread People, Nougat Wheel, and Lemon Shortbread. All were fantastic! Will be back!

Lovely little bakery serving wonderful European bakes. The gingerbread was perfectly spiced with just the right balance of flavours and the texture was spot on. A great range of bakes at very reasonable prices.

I barely consume sweet goods, almost never, because my senses of taste and smell are too strong and sugar bothers me but when I first got to know of the Gingerbread Haus nearby I realized they are Erupoean-style professionals. By far different from what I've experienced in the North America. Their products are not saturated with sugar. The sour dough breads, the cream on the cakes and the ratio of the ingridients are phenomenal. I have promised myself not to buy any cakes unless I purchase them here. Their products are indeed pricy when compared to the mass production items in the chainstores but you enjoy and live longer :) They close soon, plan and pre-order so you won't have to choose the low quality sweets for your events.

I ordered 2 dozen cupcakes for a mini wedding celebration and they were such a hit! They are so cute and every flavour was delicious. I had accidentally entered the wrong date on my order but they whipped it together really quick for me and were so kind about the mistake, really great service. I would absolutely recommend! The crowd favourite was a feature, Banana cream pie, the best cupcake I’ve ever had ☺️.

Phenomenol cupcakes! I had ordered the salted caramel, oreo, and I believe a cinnamonish cupcake? They were so delicious! The salted caramel was my favourite (and I'm someone who's not the biggest fan of caramel). The frosting was so light and fluffy and the cupcake base was so moist. I need to come back again and grab more flavours to try!

Layers is the perfect place to get a sweet treat! Their cupcakes are perfectly created - fluffy, not too sweet and the perfect ratio of cake to frosting. They also always have new creative flavours to try! The staff is super friendly and helpful. If you’re going for a specific flavour, I recommend going early as they sell out quickly!

My long distance friends got a box of THE most delicious cupcakes sent to my place for my birthday last year. Ever since then I’ve been trying to get invited to a birthday party so I can share the joy of these delicious treats. Put in a phone order for delivery the same day, driver was running late but then I was surprised with an extra half dozen cupcakes!! Incredible service and incredible cupcakes!

These cupcakes are by far, THE MOST DELECTABLE cupcakes we have ever tasted...and The Chocolate Chocolate Cake was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I can't express enough just how scrumptious their recipes really are! This batter recipe Layers uses is not too sweet, but just perfectly sweet enough when combined with the smoothest, dreamiest icing that I have ever tasted! The people in this company are not only cheerful, friendly and kind, but they are true professionals who know their stuff! These people really know how to welcome you and make you want to return again and again for their special product and genuine kindness! We decided last minute to get a wedding cake and cupcakes for our wedding. Layers was super helpful with deciding what to order and fulfilling our order perfectly we only a few weeks notice. We ended up ordering a small wedding cake and mini cupcakes for our guests which worked out perfect. I would definitely recommend doing mini cupcakes instead of the full size cupcakes as they are much more approachable especially after a large dinner. Layers doesn’t do custom wedding cakes but that wasn’t important to us so it worked out well.

Excellent authentic French pastries in a very cozy atmosphere and very close to our hotel (Sutton Place)!

Very cute little cafe with few seating upstairs. The menu selection is small with pastries made fresh daily and different items on different days of the week. The croissant is very good and is layers upon layers of crispy flakiness. Much more dense than I've ever had elsewhere, where most of it is air. Would recommend.

This little place is great. Good cappuccino and the croissants super flaky and nice. Been a long time since I had a croissant that deserved the name. The canélé are awesome too.

Wonderful little find near the Convention Centre. Real French feel…great coffees and eats. The canelé came warmed and had a beautiful soft centre. Macaroons are well priced and made in the Parisian style - delicious. Croissant delicious. Good value..

Stumbled into this little place by accident but immediately fell in love. Very quaint space, beautiful & delicious desserts! Pain au chocolat was perfect - not too much and not too sweet. Croissant dough is buttery light and flaky! I did enjoy my London Fog but my husband said his coffee wasn't very good. I will absolutely return to try more sweets!

This is such a cute little cafe. I had a latte and mocha which were both really good. I also had a vanilla and chocolate caneles which were not that good, didn’t taste like it was made fresh. The barista was really nice and the seating area was colourful.

To be honest, one of my favorite places to go, location is very good in the heart of the city, the old building added value where I felt the history when I was there. The patisseries are unique, French and delicious. Even you can't find them anywhere. I like the girl work over there she is welcoming, smiley face and friendly (I thought she is the owner). Layout, I like the layout and decorations. Prices are ($$), but worth it.p Working hours, I found they close very early, sometime we like to have coffee after 5pm, specially the business in the heart of the city Conclusion, really you should visit, and test macarons, they are frech. I only take one star away as I used to brag about their quality for price. You used to get this great quality for cheaper than people were selling their cupcakes at all the markets all over HRM and even the moncton markets I frequent. Now their price hike has them at the same prices ( I realize prices go up but didn't expect the large leap as izzys bagels did it a few cents at a time for fairness to their customers). I will keep going for their flavors and icing being superior and the friendly lady usually at cash. If I could give it a 4.5 I would.

We went today for a dessert, had never been before. My daughter picked a cookie and she wasn’t able to eat it. She is 4, she eats anything with sugar on it. I tried it and it was terrible, pretty sure it is quite old and has been on display for a while. Very expensive for what they offer.

Lovely bakery and customer service, found the birthday cake ordered way too sweet, gave them a second chance and asked if the sweetness can be reduced a bit, but I was told they don't change recipes. The second cake, different flavor, was also overwhelmingly too sweet, masking any flavour cake might have. Have since found another bakery that have cakes with normal sugar levels and won't be back unfortunately

Love Susie’s. I’m a baker but when I’m in a time crunch it’s my go to. Everyone loves their cupcakes. The person that left a review complaining about too much sugar? Seriously….its literally called shortbreads which are made with butter and sugar. That’s like going to the liquor store and complaining they have too much alcohol!! Most ridiculous comment ever. This is a wonderful bakery.

Great selection of decorative cookies, cakes, and cupcakes. The website lets you easily order and pay online and they have items for all occasions and seasons.

Went for breakfast and the pastry was cold. The staffs seemed just busy that they didn’t make little effort of heating up a cold egg puff. Also had a cupcake which was dry and stale. Though I like their loaf, it is overpriced pastry and overrated place.

Visited their new location in Brewery Market recently. The decor was funky and relaxed and although the selection was small, the pastries were unbelievable! Service was friendly too. Looking forward to going again soon.

As I walked to work everyday, I slowly watched as this place became an empty husk of a venue to the brilliant bakery it is today. I've never had a dessert there I didn't like (even some that I was reluctant to try). The staff was always friendly. Their burger week special was an excellent out-of-the-box idea and was worth its price.

Went here for some breakfast food and coffee and found that everything was way overpriced. I didn't think the food was amazing - it was ok, but definitely not worth what they're charging. Also if you're average male height or above make sure to duck under the lighting fixture they have in the washroom.

Pleasant service. Amazing baked goods. Would recommend the donuts if you want to try something unique and amazing. They also sell travel mugs, ceramic coffee filters, and locally made tea and coffee. Can occasionally get crowded by popular demand. But that is no fault of the store, other than being so good.

While set in a dated decor, the old apothecary offers an amazing Cinnamon Bun. A bit undercooked for my taste but still very much decadent. Perfect to finish your week with your favorite cup of coffee

First saw this bakery on the Food network show; Baking Sisters (I think it's called). So while in Halifax, I had to check it out. The aroma of their bread is intoxicating! If it wasn't for us staying in a hotel (and doing no meals in room) I would have tried their breads. It was hard not to buy! We were too late for croissants or cinnamon buns. I'm betting they sell out fast. But the lemon tart we had was wonderful! Also, (not pictured) we tried a mini orange cake with mascarpone icing, which was also yummy. My next visit to Halifax, will include another stop here. And next time I'm coming for bread!

Today I visited Creamy Rainbow Café and tried their pistachio croissant—and wow, it was incredible. It looked beautiful, with a chocolate-nut topping, and inside… the pistachio filling was so generous and absolutely delicious. I am a big fan of anything pistachio, and this one totally hit the mark. I also had a cappuccino, which paired perfectly with the pastry. Smooth, well-balanced, and just strong enough—simple to describe, but very well done. Both the croissant and coffee were honestly 10 out of 10. Highly recommend if you’re a pistachio lover or just want a quality café moment.

The place is quite expensive while some desserts are really cute. Me personally, I thought that more authentic Asian food would be available. This experience reminded me of watching a YouTube video because of the hyped title and finding that the content itself is not worth it. If you have no high expectations and just need a good place to have a dessert with coffee - it is totally fine.

This place was adorable! I had their iced strawberry latte with an almond croissant & my partner had a caramel iced latte & bun. They were both delicious & I can’t wait to come back! The staff ate very friendly

One star because their matcha doesn’t taste good at all. Matcha powder doesn’t have flavour, lacks colour and it is very milky. In the picture the color looks fine but once stirred it’s very light green. Although their macaroons are very delicious !!

Pistachio croissants are amazing!💚 very intrigued by that pistachio cake, maybe next time I’ll try it, if no croissants are left 😂 Other desserts are looking so cute and delicious.

It’s my Korean bestie’s and I one of our favorite places ever. I guarantee you that anything you get will be a 100% delicious. They always have a great selection of creamy desserts that are frequently updated and the drinks are supreme. My to go drinks are iced strawberry matcha and yuzu drink. Anyway, if you want a nice place with delicious desserts and drinks and reasonable prices- you won’t be disappointed with this one

They catered our wedding just last weekend and we were taken care of so well by them. The food was superb (the prime roast rib of beef was incredible). And their service was amazing. Made sure every need we had was seen to. If I’m ever entertaining a party in the future, I will definitely be looking to them for catering.

Scanway Catering supplied our wedding dessert bar with various types of mini bites, such as cupcakes, fruit tarts, macarons, etc. Their catering menu is extensive with many good options. Melisa, the Event Catering Manager, was very helpful when organising all of this over email. Guests commented on how delicious the dessert was!

Had such a great experience getting my birthday cake from Scanway. Ray was super helpful and guided me through everything. She was very responsive and friendly.

Recently orders from there and the taste was 10 on 10 . I would highly recommend this place ….. and I will be surely ordering from there again. The only thing missing is they do not deliver and it’s in downtown so that is sometimes a hassle as weather is a challenge here. But otherwise than that in terms of quality and taste this place is absolutely amazing.

I’m satisfied with the birthday cake. Nowadays fancy bakery birthday cakes can easily go over 100 dollars plus tax just for the decorations. No tax for the birthday cake here. Simple and delicious. Great ingredients.

Holy mother of delicious donuts!! The cinnamon sugar donut was INCREDIBLE!! The rooftop patio is fabulous!! Tables and chairs. Umbrellas. Propane heaters. Looks like it becomes a bar (beer & alcohol) around noon. Super friendly staff!! I asked for a grilled chicken sandwich a very specific way and they did their best to accommodate me. My slightly picky (yes, that's sarcasm) girlfriend requested a totally plain pizza (dough, cheese, & sauce -- no basil, no grated cheese) and they made it. We ate breakfast on the rooftop patio. It was really nice! We were the only ones up there at that time. Very quiet. Very relaxing. Nice view. We returned later for lunch and ate inside. If we had spent more time in Nova Scotia I think I would have returned several more times. A perfect spot for a lite bite!! :-)

I ordered a Scanway two-person picnic to celebrate a dear friend's birthday. From the presentation, packed beautifully in a big white box, to all the courses and garnishes, it was perfect. We had the version with the poached salmon. The portions were very generous and every bite was delicious. We were blessed with a beautiful day and found a picnic table with a stunning view. I was very happy with my choice. They will even pack the meal in a real picnic basket if you don't need to use a cooler during transportation. We heartily recommend a Scanway picnic as a way to give someone a special treat.

Nice little bakery, tucked in and out of the way. Good selection of baked goods. Mainly breads, muffins and specialty muffins and desserts. Fairly priced, we had muffins and cinnamon buns. Tasted good. Reasonably priced, bread and english muffins are pricy and small portions. Really liked their muffins. Staff is friendly and serve you really quickly.

I recently returned from a trip to Nova Scotia and brought back five different kinds of cakes from the coast. Sharing them with friends, some former East coasters, 24 Carrot oatcakes were the clear fan favorite, more than holding their own against the finest oat cakes from Cape Breton. They are cross between the more austere CB style and some of the thicker, decadent mainland versions. A perfect balance it appears. They were so well loved by a friend’s Colombian girlfriend that she took the balance of his chocolate dipped oak cakes back to Bogota. Thanks to the staff at the bakery for setting me up for success! Ps. I also purchased chocolate macaroons which proved to be a perfect energy boost during the long drive back to Upper Canada.

What did you change in your oatcakes? They used to be crispy and tasty; now they're SOGGY and BLAND. I'm never buying them again and they were my favourite. I'll bet you cheaped out on the butter.....

My first experience was great fresh and looked great display was full and service was awesome. But today June 22 .2.10 my child and I felt rushed my daughter 5 years old was excited and didn't know what she really wanted to try she then decided on two cupcakes. After the person served it she said anything else I said yes I would like to have a date square. Again (anything else I said yes my girlfriend wants something as well..she pick and then and anything else. I asked about the pies and the person walked aways from me as I was talking to her ..I could not even hear what she was saying. I asked again and it seemed like she got upset because she had to repeat herself. Not returning to this place again ..

Quite simply - wow! I had read a recommendation about stopping here at the beginning of a Cabot Trail drive and it did not disappoint. In fact, it exceeded all expectations. Really nice people and great food.

This place truly is a gem in Margaree Valley and is popular among locals and tourists. During our 5-day stay in Margaree Valley, we came here every morning, except on Monday when it’s closed. I would dare to say that this was best food and cappuccino we had on Cape Breton. We tried every sandwich on the menu and we were always amazed at the quality and taste of every sandwich. You could tell that lot of care was put into each sandwich. The cappuccinos were an amazing start to our day every day. The latte art was different each day, with just goes to show you the attention to detail that the staff puts into everything. We tired the blueberry pancakes, maple butter shortbread cookies, and cinnamon rolls and they were absolutely delicious. The service and atmosphere were also phenomenal! I would highly recommend this cafe.

I've been a customer of this establishment for over 10 years. Normally it's a 4.5 to a 5 star visit. Recently there was a change in my usual order on their end, a whole sandwich on gluten free bread (normaly 2 small sandwiches to compensate for the gf bread slices being small), which I had paid extra money for (almost $19 total for the meal). Once I addressed the issue to the staff, it was somewhat resolved, however, not without first causing some grief. This put a damper on my visit to beautiful Margaree on that day. Because of my most recent experience, I will now be considering other options for lunch when traveling to the area. Kudos to the ladies who work at the front counter. They are always busy and try their best to look after their customer's needs. The second photo is what I typically receive. The first photo is a representation of what they provided initially. Based on the response below from the owner and after them taking over 2 months to reply, I won't be returning. I wish them well with their business though.

A fabulous place to eat on the Cabot Trail! I had the mango mustard ham sandwich and Moroccan Carrot soup for lunch which was amazing! Then went back for dessert later. You won't regret stopping here!

Just got back from a two-week road trip from Pennsylvania, and we still can’t stop talking about their breakfast sandwich! Hands down, one of the best — if not the best — we’ve ever had. The homemade cheddar and green onion biscuit was perfection, and everything inside (we went with bacon) was absolutely delicious. Even the coffee was amazing. I really wish we had more time in the area to enjoy the other items on their menu (or have another DG breakfast sandwich)

Charming but overrated. Pancakes were dense and tasted like flour. Order at the counter, they bring your food to the table. Service was average. Table was uneven and wobbly.

Stopped here for a light breakfast to go after checking out of our hotel. Wonderful aroma first thing in the morning! Delicious scones! The only reason I gave four stars for food is because the breakfast sandwiches are pre-made and reheated in a microwave. We bought extra scones and a couple of cinnamon buns to take with us, and they, along with the other baked goods look delicious.

This was a very busy place. Lots of people stopping jn to pick up goods, breads and sandwiches. The coffee was excellent! We had apple fritters....real apples throughout. Took raining bread for toast for breakfast...delicious!

We’ve stopped in at many places before based on reviews and thought “yeah that was good” but Aucoin Bakery truly deserves all the 5 stars and more. You can tell the dough is made the old-fashioned way and corners are not cut. Warning, once you’ve had a sweet from Aucoin’s you may be always seeking “that taste” until you return. My wife says visiting Aucoin’s made her trip to the Cabot Trail complete. 😊

Very sweet woman took our order! Very knowledgeable. The caramel cold brew was delicious and so was the ham and cheese sandwich. Lots of delicious looking options - wish I had more room in my stomach! No spot to eat indoors but a couple picnic baskets outside.

Quite literally the best bakery anywhere between Cape Breton and Halifax, probably on the entire province too. Whether it's the pie, the crumble, or the muffins, you sincerely cannot go wrong with the quality of their baked goods. Pick some things up before exploring the cabot trail and you won't regret it!

Delicious Treats, Great Coffee, and Even Better Service! We stopped at Jo-Ann’s in Mahone Bay on the recommendation of our amazing tour guide—and we’re so glad we listened! This cozy café/deli is full of charm, just like the town itself. We came in for a dessert break and were blown away by the cheesecake—rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. The coffee was just as impressive—smooth, bold, and exactly what we needed to recharge for the rest of our day. They also have a great selection of quality eats, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff were incredibly friendly—truly some of the nicest people we’ve encountered on our trip. If you’re visiting Mahone Bay, Jo-Ann’s is a must-stop. Whether you’re after a sweet treat, a good cup of coffee, or just a friendly place to relax, this spot has it all.

Jo-Ann's is a cute little market style shop in Mahone Bay with a little of something for every appetite, especially those with a sweet tooth! I've had savory and sweet treats here, and by far the sweets are the standout. A friend professes that their pies are the best they've ever had! While I'm a little biased towards another source, all dessert lovers will find a place in their hearts for Jo-Ann's. Note that the outdoor patio is lovely, and there is a washroom on site, even though it doesn't look like it!

I tried the mango cheesecake and ice coffee. Staff members are friendly and explained to me they are made in stores. Cheesecake cafe and people games for them. They are not too sweet, just right, the mango and raspberry sauces are great. Anyone who does not want to have too sweet cheesecake is a good choice.

That was one of the best cheesecakes I’ve had in over a decade. I had the London fog cheesecake. Sadly I don’t live in Halifax so not sure when I’ll have it again :(. Staff was also really helpful and kind. My boyfriend had the brownie and also loved it. Ambience was great!

I think this may be the best. Geese ale I have ever had! Boston Cream pie made with their homemade Venetian cream. Absolutely divine!

This cheesecake was one of the best I've ever had! It was so good that I wish the slices were bigger. I got the marble one. I loved how you could actually taste the cream cheese and it was not overpowering. The staff was super friendly!

First of all, the decor in this place is so pretty! I met up with a friend to try the new cheesecake flights. The flavours were strawberry shortcake, London fog, Kit Kat, Crispy Crunch, raspberry lemon and Wunderbar. They were all absolutely delicious, my favourite being the Wunderbar. Perfectly chocolatey and peanut butter-y without being overly sweet or rich. I can't wait to come back and try more flavours in the future! All of the staff were so friendly as well! 😊

I had the Boston cream cheesecake and it was amazing! So creamy it melted in my mouth, if I could give ten stars, I would!

I dread having to go get anything on Quinpool. The traffic is a nightmare and the parking is scarce. However, if there ever was a reason to brave those fears it's Sweet Hereafter. Absolutely amazing cheesecake! Nice cozy atmosphere. If you haven't gone, do yourself a favor and go have a slice.

There was a funky smell upon entering, but I think it was humidity + old building. We purchased some green tomatoe chow for my father , and bought some of the famous shortbread cookies , they were divine !

Delicious shortbread! A great selection of sizes and variety, including daily baked goods, Seafoam lavender goods, neat little gifts and preserves. Everything is great quality and too good to share, so buy extra!

We popped in at closing time for shortbread and got the Scottish tablet and millionaires shortbread. Delightful former tea shop and long time local business owners, you should not miss this. If you do of course she ships shortbread to you. And I have to say it was really perfect crunch with a delightful buttery flavor. I shared some of it.

During a trip home, we stopped in to MacGregor's and our expectations were met and surpassed. The shortbread is delectable and the cranberry tea is soothing and flavourful. A bit on the pricey side, but you definitely get what you pay for. MacGregor's is a must for travellers and tourists. (We also got a free cookie cookbook!)

Not only are the shortbread cookies here DELICIOUS, but they offer a bigger variety than you would expect. This shop was recommended to us for our wedding cake by a local hotel. We ordered cupcakes and a cheesecake. Mrs MacGregor herself met with us and went over our options. She had a huge selection of flavours and styles for us to choose from and was also keen to try new dessert recipes that suited our cultural background. Our order was exactly what we expected, delivered on time and absolutely spectacular tasting. Many thanks and compliments to these great bakers and the business as a whole!!!!

One of the highlights during a road trip to eastern Canada three years ago from California, was a surprise find. Mrs. MacGregor's melt in your mouth selection of shortbread cookies, and oatcakes. At this moment while writing this review, I am debating whether a new order from afar should include the cranberry and orange, ginger, whiskey or a mix for everyone to try as autumn and the holidays are soon upon us. No question $9.00 seems like a lot to pay for shortbread cookies. in this day of Covid-19 with many small businesses going out of business, please support Mrs. MacGregor's. This has been a lengthy review because those shortbread cookies are not only worth the price ,it is because they are the absolute best I have ever tasted.

I usually carry my own ceramic or glass tumbler because I care about the environment and my health. When I ordered, I said I wanted my bread to go, but my coffee and tea to stay. However, the same male staff member with tied dark-blond hair who both took my order and made the drinks had already poured my drinks into disposable paper cups. At first, I thought those drinks weren’t mine, but they turned out to be. When I asked for mugs, he transferred the drinks from the paper cups into them. By that time, the paper cups had already become waste, and my hot coffee and tea had already been sitting in those paper cups long enough for chemicals to leach out. I normally carry a ceramic or glass tumbler and request “to stay” to avoid disposable waste and exposure to harmful substances, so this situation was utterly absurd and frustrating. I wasn’t expecting anything fancy like latte art. I just wanted to start my morning pleasantly with good coffee, but this experience left me really disappointed. If you visit this café, I recommend getting service from the other male staff member, the one with short(he is always kind), dark hair or women, not the one with tied dark blond hair.

An amazing spot, make incredible by its PHENOMENAL food. Truly the BEST sourdough and BEST croissant I’ve ever had. The only downside is the irregular hours: it seems like they close early often, because I’ve shown up twice before during “regular” hours and the shop was closed. But this makes it even more exciting when you can get here because it’s that much more special. Recommend ten times over!

Nice place to have breakfast. We tried the almond croissant and the ham and cheese croissant. The almond croissant was a little overbaked. Other than that, everything else was good.

Oh LF, I love you so. Please come to Dartmouth. Fresh bread, good coffee, huge rotating selection of treats. You need a home in Dartmouth. This place is Loud, but I think you have to be cognizant that this is a working bakery. Please help us. They’re not usually open on Mondays and they usually take a week off around Christmas and summer, which is well deserved. I’ve never had the sandwiches, but looking at the display case for 10-12 bucks look unreal. Lots of marginalized people in the area, usually try buy something extra to give somebody on the way out. Kindness counts.

Nice little bakery cafe. The bakery seems very busy! We got a loaf of white bread, which was fresh and had great texture, but was missing something (maybe salt?). We also had coffees and treats while we were there. Excellent Americano and a very good croissant. Will go back to try more baked goods.

The cardamom iced latte was good but the blueberry tart was underwhelming & the vanilla custard wasn’t flaky it was soggy and the custard had an egg taste that we didn’t enjoy.

Easily one of the best bakeries in Atlantic Canada. Definitely top three, I haven't been everywhere so I can't rule out some dark horse from some random corner, but these guys are top notch. Croissant is good as you'll get in Paris, and I've been there and done that! Get up early and get down there for when they open at 7:30 and the smell of fresh baked baguettes and other deliciousness will transport you to heaven!

Today I had fish and chips for the first time in about 8 years, and it was delicious. My husband, a happy gluten eater had it as well, and agreed it was some of the best fish and chips he's ever had, gluten free or not.

On the advice of a friend we stopped in here and we were not disappointed. The location is tiny and super busy, the staff are friendly and really helpful. As this is a gluten free spot they gave us tips on some of the products and reheating the items we were taking home. We were a bit late to try the cinnamon rolls (which was what brought us in)so we’ll be back for those. The pizza crust, cookies and danish we bought were great.

Always great service. Super polite. Food is A1! Amazing! You wouldn't know it was certified gluten free other than the signage and name of the place indicating it is.

A very cool concept for a cafe. Certainly highlights the importance for inclusiveness in such restricted diets. They have a large selection of baked goods to choose from which was really great to see. They were all helpfully labelled to indicate if they were dairy free or gluten free. I would recommend this cafe for anyone who has the dietary needs. My only gripe is that there is a lack of pricing on each item. Overall the staff were friendly and service was 👍

Today is my first time here and I'm super impressed! I've only been eating gluten free for a few weeks and this was an absolute treat! I got a chicken burger and onion rings. They were better than any fast food place I've been before finding out I'm celiac! I can't wait to come back and try more things!

As someone who has been gluten-free for years, I understand the feeling of going to a restaurant and searching for what you can eat instead of what you want to eat. Odell's is a safe space for the gluten-free community where you don't need to worry about cross-contamination. There bakery items are unique and worth the cost. Their restaurant items are fairly priced provide diverse menu options. The staff is excellent and is always willing to answer any questions and provide outstanding service. 10/10 recommend you visit!

Had a fabulous experience at Marble Slab. This outlet is at Lacewood Drive plaza. Hence loads of parking space. If you're craving for some ice creams imagining any flavor this is a go to stop. You will have numerous flavors to choose for your ice cream and they'll mix it well with your toppings be it fruits, cookies, chocolate, sprinkles, gummies. The ambiance inside is joyful with several seats, you can have your ice cream there or come out with it. You get an option to choose the cone, or cup for your Icecream. The price is reasonable. The staff is extremely supportive and approachable. I would highly recommend this place to have ice cream with friends and family or can even eat alone.

It was our favourite ice cream for a long time. The variety of toppings is great, the price is fair but the last time we went Sept 2021 the ice cream was kept cold enough. It was like a frozen soup right from the start. Look closely at my photos and its like that even in the fridges.

Update: the owner let me know that the cake i received was not correctly made and we got another filled with double Mixin's! Yay. Everything about service and ordering was great. But i got a peanut butter cup ice-cream cake and I'm SO bummed. There is nothing in the cake???? If youre ordering an ice-cream cake be prepared to get JUST an ice cream cake. Solid chocolate ice-cream. Theres nothing in it. Really disappointed for $40. Ive had lots of marble slab in store and its awesome so i was really shocked to find nothing in there.

A big Kudos to Halifax Marble Slab Creamery! This is my mom’s favourite place for her birthday cake so I ordered a peanut butter chocolate cake for her 78th. When my husband went to pick it up, they didn’t have the order- I had forgotten to send the order in 🫣. The staff madly worked to build my mom her favourite birthday cake for her birthday dinner. Ah-mazing service! Thank you and so sorry for the stress!!! 🙏

That's was good but not much. It's totally not worth 7$ a cone of ice cream. Also, because they mixed everything in a plate...everything is melted so annoying. It was cool to try but don't recommend it.

Nice and quick and really good quality ice-cream. Perfect to beat the heat on a hot day or any day you need a treat. Get it on a regular cone, waffle or cup and choose your toppings. It’s so good!

We ordered a cake from here last minute for our elopement, and it was made for us within a few hours, with beautiful personalised details. The cake tasted delicious and lasted well despite travelling all the way up to Cape Breton! We also found the bakery to be very reasonably priced, and would highly recommend.

The prettiest cakes and very talented decorating. The cakes seem very light which I enjoy. Not a place to get something rich tasting. But the way they do their cakes is so gorgeous who cares what it tastes like?! I always go to this place for the most epically decored custom cakes.

Came in based on the high rating. Ordered the red velvet cheese cake. The cake was dry and stale including the cheese cake part itself. It had no flavour. For over $8 + tax, it was not worth it. There was no service to even comment on.

On July 1st, I urgently needed a birthday cake for a friend around 4–4:30 PM. After calling several bakeries with no luck—most didn’t have any ready-made cakes left at the end of the day—I reached out to Piece of Cake. To my surprise, someone kindly offered to try and make a cake within 30 minutes and asked for a bit of time to confirm with their delivery person. They followed up shortly after to confirm that delivery would be possible. The entire experience—from the prompt and clear text communication to the on-time delivery—was absolutely seamless. The cake itself was delicious and beautifully made. It truly saved the day, especially since I live in Calgary and couldn’t be there in person. I really appreciate their incredible customer service and willingness to go above and beyond. Highly recommend!

My friend and I went to Ori Foods yesterday for a nice brunch and found the food was beyond expectations. My friend ordered the octopus on the special menu and I got a lamb flatbread. Both of us enjoyed the food from the first bite. The flatbread tasted crunchy and juicy; the green onions and the sour cream on top added to the richness of the sauce, which I used a piece of croissant to save and savor. And the croissant was wonderful too!

We finally checked out Ori Foods this weekend and it’s a very cute spot. Super small but done nice and the server we had ,(a recent hire), was very nice. My girl and I were super hungry and when I looked online I felt like this place wasn’t too expensive and would be a good choice for a quick and delicious lunch. Unfortunately the portions here are very small. I noticed they had Lemon Tarts that looked amazing so we promptly ordered two of those and a couple sandwiches to share. The Lemon Tarts came first so we started with dessert and they are one of the best lemon tarts I’ve had. Basically a perfect 5/5 on those even though they are kinda small for $7; the size is made up for by the flavour and fresh strawberries on top! We shared the breakfast sandwich and the Brisket on Rye, so half of each for my girl and I, and we left hungry. The breakfast sandwich was kinda bland with a really nice bun and the Brisket on Rye was tasty but super thin and I felt it was difficult to get a good bite without all the meat coming out at once. I don’t feel I got a great value for the >$50 I spent on lunch but I did enjoy the tart and might return for dessert and coffee. I also don’t really like paying/tipping before I get my food/experience a place. Sides with the sandwiches and bigger portions for slightly more cost would be nice and maybe all-day breakfast on weekends since they close at 4pm and breakfast is 9am-11am. 5/5 for dessert, 5/5 on ambiance, 5/5 customer service, 2/5 on each sandwiches, 2/5 value. Overall a 3.5/5 but google doesn’t allow partial stars so I’m giving a 3/5 based on how hungry I was after lunch and feeling rather disappointed about it.

A great creative dish and a great service. Unexpected to have such a high quality food at a little cafe. Only 4 tables are available inside and some customers are not mindful about other customers waiting at the door and take their time to enjoy lingering. Unagi (eels) crepe was a fantastic dish and very affordable for what it is. Definitely go back. Wish it was on the other side of the bay;).

Tart and Soul is an incredible cafe run by two of the best people you could know. Their business is a blueprint of what all businesses should strive for. They are community builders and have endless support for other local businesses, employees and patrons. They have set the standard of how to run a business. It also helps that everything they produce is absolutely incredible. The butter tarts are divine, the famous cinnamon buns are to die for, and their breakfast snacks are *chefs kiss*.

has a cute vibe, food is really good, service is great. bagels are housemade and the bagel sandwiches are superb, not to mention prices are low for food of the quality being served here. we will be returning!

The best crust I've had is on the T&S butter tart. And I've had a lot of crusts in my 35 years in case there is question about my comparison set. Have tried nearly all their desserts and have always been very happy. Coffee is hot and lots. Friendly staff, all 3 I have met. Have been offered staff clothing (cafe sleeveless sweater?) for a chilly day on the patio, and given double the number of cookies I paid for. Will return and look forward to it. Even morsel of any edible item that I’ve consumed has been absolutely delicious. T&S Hungry Ma’am and Gobbler pies are on the top of our favourites list. Ohhhh and the specialty birthday cakes are like nothing you can imagine until you experience. Everyday treats and great coffee in the cafe are always delicious and served with a smile. Do yourself a favour and visit Tart & Soul, you and your tastebuds will not be disappointed. IYKYK

The staff is super friendly and welcoming. Setting is nice to work in and grab a sandwich and a latte to fuel your needs. Happy tummy items: soup of the day, cookies, sandwich cookies (oh my God these babies are unbelievable, bagel sammies) Not so happy tummy items: pecan pie (too many pecans compared to the pie filling), butter tarts, cinnamon bun (not as moist as expected) All in all worth a visit :)

Nice bakery!! 1. Pastries are amazing. Texture and the balance of taste seem to be the top level in Halifax. However, coffee is just ok which means it is little bit better than Tim Hortons. 2. Although the service might not be the most personalized, however only because it is partially patisserie shop and cafe, I am truly fascinated with the speed and accuracy of the staff taking great care of such high flow of customers. Great coffee, huge cafe au lait, tasty croissants, and unique cinnamon buns. The croissant sandwich was tasty but a little expensive at $6.95. The cinnamon bun dough felt similar to the croissant which I found very interesting. Friendly staff, and a very cozy, warm cafe.

Amazing Americano (my wife says the best!) Wonderful desserts and food! Latte tastes great, but needs to be hotter. You can always ask for "extra hot" if you are concerned about that. Love this place and everything about it!!!

Pane e Circo is such a beautiful spot to enjoy a coffee! With an Italian touch, they serve illy coffee and offer a wide variety of pastries, sandwiches, croissants or paninis, salads, and even gelato. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Highly recommended!

I made this my first stop to start my first day in Halifax, and I loved it. Beautiful place with a great atmosphere. I picked up a few sweets, and it was a nice touch that they deliver your coffee right to the table. It’s always those small details that make the experience better. Absolutely superb customer service—and then, just a short walk away, you’re ready to start your day.

Great variety of food and beverages, both high quality and delicious. Service is also outstanding. I took the mushroom panini and I was impressed with the flavor and freshness of it. Plus, the bread was really good. And the matcha latte was just perfect in terms of temperature, sweetness, flavor, everything!

Great place to enjoy coffee and chat with friends in Dt! Here has a great selection of coffee, drinks, baking, and brunch options, and the staff are all friendly and professional. Tried the Pistachio Chocolate Croissant, which was the best pistachio chocolate croissant I've had in Halifax! 😆It was very crowded, so if it's rush hour, you'll have to wait for a table.

Went there with a friend, had two almond croissants with hot coffee latte and cold ice latte. Loved the snacks and enjoyed the environmental buzz filled with family, friends, and old ladies and gents. Loved the cozy wibe. It was a lovely day, people sitting in patio and many inside in much colder place.

This is a lovely place with great drinks and the staff is super helpful and kind! I’ve come here a couple of times now and never really ordered a whole lot of the food items (although they look delicious) but the drinks I have tried are amazing! The fruity drinks taste fresh and you can tell they are made with good quality ingredients rather than a whole bunch of artificial flavours, and the ones I’ve tried haven’t been overly sweet either. It was a great place to sit in on a hot day as the drinks were refreshing and the AC was very much appreciated haha. A little busy but aside from that the place is nice and service/drinks are great! (They also have the cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen which is automatically a 10/10 for me)

Excellent coffee and pastries. I had a cortado, breakfast sandwich and almond croissant. Great coffee and the croissant was so delicious. I saved half for later and it was still very yummy. My friend had a cinnamon bun and also loved it. The place was nice and the fresh tulips in each table gave it a special touch.

My favorite bakery and café! Delicious pastries and great coffee. We pick-up a box of different pastries every now and then and they are so good. Lovely atmosphere inside as well. The workers are fast and efficient - they work very hard. Definitely will be going back. Hopefully they expand in the future as they seem very popular!

This is my new favourite place. I’ve never had a bad thing from here. The pastries are amazing. The sourdough is fantastic. Had the Easter box and it was delicious. Tonight we had the lemon pistachio cake for Mother’s Day dessert and it was a huge hit. The owner is always so nice and the staff are super. I’m gushing but I mean it. This place is always packed and I’m so happy to see their success. I hope that means they’re around for a long time!!!

The food here is always fantastic, which is why I'm a customer. I'm a consistent tipper when I dine in, as I believe in rewarding good service. That said, I was taken aback when picking up a takeout order to find a strong expectation for a tip. I've always understood tipping to be optional, primarily for table service. “Having it addressed at checkout felt inappropriate. “ I still love your food but wanted to share this feedback on the takeout process.

This place is busy and popular for good reasons, is very interesting to see how people just giving bad reviews of Sold out of sandwichs, the owner and staff are awesome. It’s very busy on Sat. Pastries are good but cake are too North American like…quite sweet and heavy. Wish they had light whipping cream + custard with fruits, healthy choices. Good atmosphere. Average price - $7-8. $5 for a plain croissant.

This little cafe on Almon street is wonderful! They lured me in with the scent of delicious cinnamon baked goods. They offer a range of beverages and they bake all of their pastries in house so they are very fresh. The egg sandwich is hearty and yummy! If you’re looking for a local cafe to support please put this one on your list. You won’t be disappointed!

Ordered a matcha white chocolate cookie and an iced matcha latte with oat milk. The cafe was very cozy, they played great music, and the staff were nice! The iced matcha latte was a pretty average, I felt as though I tasted more milk than the matcha. The cookie was great though! Not too sweet.

Everything was perfect in this small café! Definitely recommended! Food and beverages are outstanding, plus the service is top notch. We ordered coffee and matcha latte. Both were prepared with care and tasted amazing. Probably the best matcha latte I've tried in a long time. And the cinnamon roll? Just perfect too!

Suda Table is an absolute gem! We tried the salmon roll and the brie/apple sandwich — both were incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The service was fantastic; super friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. Their baked goods were also a highlight — everything looked amazing, and what we tried was delicious. Paired with a great latte, it made for the perfect lunch stop. Highly recommend!

I'm afraid to say specifically which one because it'll likely be tried more often and It'll make it harder for me to find, but it's easily one of the best things in Halifax. Coffee, people are fantastic. A beautiful addition to the cafe surge scene, especially alongside creative cup where you can get amazing sandwich too.

First time visit to Mrs. P's bakery! Decided to stop by for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The bakery was quite busy as it was Christmas-eve-eve and people were stocking up on pies, cookies, bread and baked goods for the holidays! I ordered a Peppermint mocha latte and a waffle for breakfast, which was delicious. The fruit was super fresh and waffle was so light and fluffy. My partner ordered the avocado toast with an added egg which was also very flavourful and fresh. We brought home a strawberry pie, red pepper jelly and sugar cookies for Christmas treats. We will definitely be back!

I never put review ever but for this I feel I owe them because of the food and the hospitality. It was my first time there. I tried their butternut squash chicken pasta bowl and it was to die for. Soo fresh and wholesome that my gut was literally thanking me for that food. Healthy and best tasting bowl I ever had. This place is going to my go to from now and I highly recommend.

Picked up a shepherds pie, some croissants, and quite a few other delicious goodies from this company very happy with the service and the taste and quality of all the food that I purchased. Will recommend going back here again and again and support this small business in the community.

I made the wonderful mistake of going here for some lunch. Now I don't want to go anywhere else but it's too far from my work! This is a wonderful spot and everything I ate was next level tasty. Chicken pot pies, Sheppard's pie, various croissants cannot be compared with anywhere else. Super impressed!!! I was looking forward to having a blueberry pie. Not anymore. Barely any dough/crust. The few inches of crust was covered in flour. Extremely disappointed.

I had high expectations from this bakery considering it has been long running. Customer service was okay. I was only able to try two different sandwiches, and two different desserts and they were all just okay. I had better breakfast sandwich at Reno's. I had better sausage roll at European Pantry. I had better hot sandwich at Pete's. I love their coffee. I do like their house-made dessert.

I really like this bakery. Is a bakery a dying breed? It was a challenge to find a place to get a fancy birthday cake. It's not everyday I buy a fancy birthday cake and $37 is nothing to sneeze at, they look the part and you can order something special if you like but I wanted to buy something off the shelf.Great helpful friendly instructive staff and that means a lot. I love the stools and the counters by the windows. A great place to hangout. I hope to come back and try some of the tasty bits for lunch soups and pizzas and chilis. I've been on a diet as of late so I was really looking forward to tasting this chocolate cake but I have to admit I was a little let down. It was a little too heavy and dense for my taste, maybe heated up with some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream and it would have been perfect. Maybe it was perfect and I just don't like chocolate cake as much as I thought I did :-) I did try a cupcake sized ‘birthday cake’ (sadly I can’t recall the name) which was a white pound cake and white icing which I found delicious. Great coffee as well.

Good coffee, though it is self serve and there are no free refills. I enjoyed the baked goods we sampled. The tables are awkward, wobbly and oddly placed. When they chose the metal backed chairs I'm guessing they didn't take into account the amount of glare from the sun. It was pretty uncomfortable but would be fine on an overcast day or in the morning when the sun isn't coming right through the front window, bouncing off the chairs and burning my retinas. Free wifi and reasonable prices though. I would go again but not on a sunny afternoon.

I was really excited when I moved to Halifax from Montreal and found this little bakery near where I live. I thought it would be the perfect place to pick up breakfast before work and order cakes for birthdays. Unfortunately, I must agree with some of the other reviewers, the customer service is awful. Last time I was helped by a cutesy hipstery girl named Sarah (sp?) who looked a lot like a brunette version of Taylor Swift. She messed up my order at least three times and still over charged me! I wouldn't be writing a review had this been my only negative experience, but, sadly, there have been many. I have also found hair in my food several times. Is it that difficult to get competent staff?

New review: If I had to pick somewhere to go for breakfast that wasn't The Ardmore Tea Room, it would be Smith's Bakery. Everything here is nothing short of phenomenal. They offer breakfast and lunches, corfee, a huge assortment of baked goods, drinks from a cooler, etc. Prices are extremely reasonable given the quality, everything feels very homey and cozy. $5 for fresh bread, $3 for yesterday's fresh bread IF they have any left. I heartily recommend the breakfast sandwich, it'll set you up for a late lunch. Original review: The food is so good I don't have any pictures of it.

Definitely not like years ago. The sweets are overpriced, the cake is not like year's ago. Disappointed over the years. I was 6 when my Mom would go every day to buy something from there I'm now 58 it was friendly, the bakery was amazing! Today it's all about the money and I agree with others, the product is getting smaller and the price went up.

I'm very disappointed with the pies I've bought the last couple of times. For thanksgiving I got a pumpkin and apple crumble pie, and while the apple was good the pumpkin was severely underwhelming, barely any filling and overheard one of my guests refer to it as new york style. I got another apple crumble pie for another event and while it looked good opening the box, topped up to the crust with toppings, a cross section shows it should just be called crumble pie. Again barely any filling. For $16 a pie I was expecting something a little more gourmet, not something I could have gotten out of the freezer bunker at gateway for 1/4 the price.

The best little hometown bakery and deli/cafe! Excellent selection of hand picked European goods, pastries and coffee. Delicious sandwiches and catering! We go at least once a week as a family for a treat or lunch. Thanks for bringing such a wonderful spot to our little community!

Really lovely coffee shop and desserterie. It is nicely decorated, staff is very lovely as well. The chaï latte, with an add of pumpkin spice syrup for the fall lovers like me (even in spring), was delicious. Same for the lemon turnover, it was amazing. Would be even greater if it had a bike stand since it is nearby a trail, but still a really nice stop ! :)

Clucking Hen Café & Bakery is a gem along the Cabot Trail! The scenery alone — ocean views from the patio — makes it worth a stop, but the food really seals the deal. From mouthwatering lobster club sandwiches to freshly baked butter tarts and cookies, everything feels homemade and high quality. The staff are warm and attentive, making the atmosphere cozy & welcoming. A couple of things to know: it’s seasonal (open May through October), and popular items like bakery treats tend to sell out later in the day. But for breakfast, lunch, or just a sweet treat with a view, Clucking Hen delivers. Highly recommend!

Cute place right on the side of the road. They have many grab and go sandwiches and pastries. There are tables to dine inside or outside. They have picnic tables out on the lawn with a nice view of the water in the distance.

Stopped for coffee but ended up buying a take out sandwich for lunch as well,seeing as they had a great selection. If the weather is fine sit outside as the view is great. Staff were friendly and doing their best to serve everyone quickly- it was busy!

Great spot to stop as you travel the Cabot trail. Staff are enthusiastic and willing to assist. Plenty of options to eat. Food was great. The place is welcoming. Was sutting by the door on a cool day but still a good overall experience.

We had a hard time finding a place for breakfast and came across the Clucking Hen. What a lucky break!! Breakfast was fabulous and very reasonably price, service was great and super friendly. Didn't buy any of their baked goods on the way out but really sorry I didn't. Everything in the desert case looked very yummy. Would definitely recommend this cafe even if you have to go a little bit out of your way. Oh, and they have a fabulous waterfront view.

Extremely disappointed with my recent visit. Ordered the lobster roll which was quite expensive ($28), but what arrived was frankly embarrassing for the price point. The lobster meat was clearly pushed to the very edges of the roll to create the illusion of a generously filled sandwich - you can literally see the sparse, empty middle when you look at it. It's a deceptive presentation that makes you think you're getting much more than you actually are. The chopped lettuce was slimey in parts and bitter, overpowering the flavour of the roll. To top it all off, the service was unfriendly and unwelcoming. The staff seemed disinterested in providing even basic hospitality. For the premium price charged, this was a major letdown on all fronts. The deceptive food presentation combined with poor ingredient quality and unfriendly service makes this place impossible to recommend. Save your money and go elsewhere.

First visit and would return if in the area. As soon as the poutine was open you could smell the delicious beef gravy. They use fresh cut fries, nice and crispy. The gravy was delicious, flavorful and not overly salty. Cheese curds were nice and big. Good portion for a "small"... I asked for a sandwich recommendation, she said the clubhouse was her favorite. A few choices for sauce, I got the garlic mayo and was it ever a good choice! Very well prepared with homemade bread, multi grain. Fresh cut tomatoes, lettuce, fresh turkey (not a deli one) and it was devoured a quarter at a time. We tried to get some take out cabbage rolls, mac and cheese but they were already sold out. Nice take out list and if not Thanksgiving weekend, you might stand a chance lol Definitely a community gem here, lots of picnic tables outside. Wheelchair accessible parking, but 3 stairs to get inside going down. No indoor seating or bathrooms I could see. Edit to say washrooms on the left... :)

I really should have posted this review a long time ago. White sails has been a mainstay for us anytime we are out for a drive. If you are travelling anywhere near Peggy’s Cove you should be stopping here. It’s a family run local business with a great selection of great tasting , perfectly prepared food. The owners and staff are always so friendly and courteous and they really give back to the community in so many ways. They have a great selection of bakery items and an awesome selection of gluten free items both hot and bakery related. It is honestly a go to place for us and when we want to treat anyone travelling from out of province.

Delicious! Lobster roll, grilled cheese with bacon and smoked meat sandwich (Reuben style). Super friendly staff. Also, local golden blonde beer on tap was tasty! Outdoor seating. Friday karaoke night (open until 10pm).

We went because my mother is celiac and she really wanted french fries and they have a dedicated fryer, the fries were delicious. I had a medium poutine and it was huge and delicious.

Absolutely obsessed with the selection of desserts here. So dangerous for my waist and wallet 😂 The GF desserts are just as good as the non GF. My favourites are the chocolate mousse cake and cheesecakes, but you can’t go wrong with any of the options! The staff here are also super friendly. One of my fav stops in Halifax!

Went to the restaurant only so did not stay at the inn. Lovely area to have a restaurant. The food was really delicious. Purchased some condiments when we left and really enjoying the bbq sauces and mustard all home made. Will definitely return.

Out fro an afternoon motorcycle ride and came across this lovely little spot. Great atmosphere, lots of books to read while having some ice cream. Just missed the Oktoberfest buffet by 10minutes, my wife and I would have loved to refill our drivers hunger but we got some good ice cream and a rice lager. Both are a must have! Great riding route along the kempt shore right down to Burnt Coat.

Stopped in here with a friend on our way to a hike in Walton. We had the chai latte, homemade ice tea, schnitzel, and scone. For dessert we split their choclate chip cookie and brownie. The food and drinks were delicious and the atmosphere was uniquely quaint and cute. They sell their own frozen meals and have beautiful local art work (some available for purchase). They offer local products and support other local buisness which we love. Staff were lovely and service was great. Definitely recommend this hidden gem! ♡

Beautiful rooms. We did the private chef cooking experience and it was an amazing evening and our hosts were great. Lots of great stories and Chris helped us learn how to successfully make ravioli from scratch. Highly recommended!!

A truly great place to eat and experience warm hospitality. I was eating with a large group, so I was able to check out all the menu items. Everything looked great! The deserts are second to none, I usually go for the cheesecake option. As a farmer, I particularly appreciate how the owners support local farms and other businesses. All around, a wonderful destination.

A good place for a variety of coffee or tea options. Overall, a very nice place. Good interior, varied menu of drinks and what to eat with them. Normal prices. For the first time in my life I saw in such a place that they give an hourglass with a tea for monitoring the time. My wife and I took "Cappuccino" and "Flat white", to eat we took Cheesecake blueberry and citrus cake. Were tasty.

We stopped at NovelTea in Truro while passing through on our drive from Halifax to Moncton, and it was such a cute and cozy spot! As vegans, we were really grateful to see plant-based options on the menu. We both ordered the samosas(which were huge) with chips on the side, and they were delicious, perfectly crisp, and flavorful. I also got a chai latte with oat milk, which was the perfect drink to go with my meal. The staff was very kind and welcoming.

I do love a good local place that has kick ass coffee and a variety of food choices. The young vibrant staff are perfect for this place and very friendly. The pace can be a bit slow and please exercise some patience. A perfect place for a very relaxing vacation. The sandwiches here well worth the wait and tasty.

Great place for a really good coffee. Arrived during the mid morning rush,so had to wait a while. The staff worked efficiently to serve us quickly. Relaxing vibe in the room with many regular customers coming in for their usual drinks and chatting with the staff. As others have commented, a great food selection as well,with both vegan and gluten free options.

We drove all the way from Halifax on our way to Cape Breton and made a special stop in Truro to try this local coffee shop—because we love supporting local. Sadly, this was our first (and last) visit. The coffee may be good, but no latte in the world is worth the attitude we got. The older gentleman in green, with long hair, eyeglasses, and a hat, took our order and managed to be snarky with every single response to our questions. Interestingly enough, he seemed all smiles and warmth with the white customers—so either we caught him on the world’s worst day, or he was being selective with his “hospitality.” Neither is a good look. If this man is the owner, he should take a long vacation to reflect on his manners—or better yet, step down and let someone who actually values customers handle the front. If he’s an employee, then training clearly isn’t working, and you have to wonder why he’s still in customer service at all. Great coffee can’t save bad service, and this place proved that.

This was a little gem of a place for a lunch stop on our trip from Baddeck to Halifax. I had a cheese and ham pinwheel which was delicious, and a garlic honey sausage roll which was a bit sweet for my liking. There were plenty of tea choices to satisfy my tea snob needs, including cute little timers for the perfect brewing time. The decorations and atmosphere were really nice and relaxed. Would definitely recommend a visit here.

The toasted hot chocolate was amazing with the big white marshmellows but the last couple times i got it there were smaller, untoasted fruity marshmellows that flavoured the drink kind of weirdly. Great spot otherwise and everything else i've had here is a 10/10, including the baked goods

I love the bread and patisseries from Marie and Guy's! Anytime my partner or I need bread we pick it up from here and always get a little treat to go with. Got this bun ring for the first time today, and not only does it look delicious, it want fabulously with the chowder for supper

The bread here is amazing. We have tried a number of different ones and have never been disappointed. The pastries and tarts are delicious. This Christmas we ordered a Yule log and it was far and away the best we have had. Go early as this place is very popular.

Wow! This place is amazing. The pastries are just perfect. The bread look wonderful too and hadn't tried them yet so just picked up a loaf this morning. You can tell it's going to be great by the feel and smell. Just wish they were closer to me as they are over an hour away...but so worth the drive.

Best quality baked goods I have encountered in Canada. My wife and I bought pain au chocolat, 2 cookies and a traditional French baguette. And wow, this place is the real deal. They open at 6:30am, so clearly they take their traditional craft very seriously, and boy does it show. This bakery world be right at home.in Paris. Amazing 👏

I was on a road trip from Toronto Ontario, my in laws who live in Nova Scotia recommend the bakery. I will say I have never tasted something so fresh and delicious!! Before we left back home we made sure to grab few bags of croissants and butter cookies! You will NOT be disappointed :D

I don't live in Kingston, but whenever we drive by, we stop here and hope it's open. It's hidden in the back of a parking lot, like a local secret. It's not fancy. It may even be what used to be a garage. However, it is charming. You walk in. There is a baker. Everything is on display. There is nothing hidden. No back room. You can see the Baker, his ingredients, the oven, the racks. What he has baked is what is offered. The artist and his craft in full display. That is the beauty of it. What you can buy, I assume, is determined by what ingredients are available and what the Baker is inspired to create. Everything, I have ever bought was perfection. Last time, I bought a peach tart, it was glorious. Today no peach tart, a lemon tart. It was also delightful. For a moment the citrus made me forget the cold outside. Always present is some sort of crusty French bread. My son is partial to the rolls formed in the shape of a crown. With 5 of us in my family, it rarely survives the drive home. Everyone takes atleast one roll off the crown. My daughters' favorites? The buttery, flakey Chocolate croissants. Bring cash, that's all he takes. It will be worth every penny!

Every thing from dinning in great bake goods and very prompt propane full up too 😉 Oh they even sell trinket as well. I recommen the apple pie and oaks. Breathtaking with my daughter was nice there and I had the chilly a nother time. They also have fresh food and home cooked frozen food to take home or your cottage. I definitely say give them a try!
