Catering food and drink supplier
Nestled on Backhall Street in Caerleon, The Village, Bakery and Cafe is a delightful spot that truly captures the essence of local charm. This hidden gem offers an impressive selection of both sweet and savory treats, including their renowned sourdough bread and mouthwatering hot cross buns. With a cozy atmosphere featuring both indoor and outdoor seating, it’s the perfect place to unwind with friends or family.
Not usually a sandwich person but fancied one today. Glad I went here on a whim because the bread was the softest, and freshest imaginable. Just had ham but good quality and a good amount. Made it a meal deal for £5.50 which included a can, a bakery treat and crisps as well as the sandwich. Staff were friendly and their treats look beautiful! Only thing I'd possibly change is having a lathe visible menu as I had to ask what options there were but really not a problem and staff were happy to answer any questions.

A gorgeous family ran bakery, amazing food and a very warm family welcome. We had lunch sat outside on their picnic bench. We had steak bakes, shortbread and meringue. Steak bakes were the best I've ever had. Wish we lived closer so we could try more of their delicious foods. We bought fresh bread to take home..... it did not disappoint. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Helen R — Google review
We always enjoy going into the Village bakery for lunch, a treat or a loaf of bread but this time I ordered a birthday cake and I was incredibly pleased with the result! I just asked for the flavours I wanted and the number of people and they ran with it and created this beautiful and delicious cake! I am definitely going to order from them again in the future.

Can't believe we've never done a review! First came here a couple of years ago for a pasty, also left with a vanilla slice. Best vanilla slice anywhere, even the French patisseries can't compete. We'll happily take an hour's diversion to come here specifically. It's awesome to see that they're getting the recognition they richly deserve. They also have a really strong range of vegetarian offerings, including really good pasties. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything from here.
Michael — Google review
Stumbled across this fabulous bakery/cafe this morning. Lovely & friendly customer service, lots of variety to choose from. Ordered a cappuccino & carrot cake, one of the best coffees I've had & the carrot cake was delicious. Sat outside on the picnic benches where cushions are provided if you wanted a softer seat. Would really recommend a visit if your in the area visiting.

Tucked into the centre of Caerleon Village is this lovely Café and Bakery. I popped in initially due to it being a little later in the afternoon and everywhere else being close to closing, but to my surprise it was open! Taking a look at its opening hours shows its excellent operational hours, a cut above the competition in Caerleon. But the standout was definitely the food! I had the Bratwurst in a Brioche Bun and I was truly blown away by the taste, presentation, all of it. Not many places would give you the whole tray of condiments for you to use at your discretion, and I commend them for it. And both the Bratwurst itself and the Bun were excellent, as you'd expect from a Bakery. Lovely and fluffy brioche. I also had a Welsh Cake and a Mocha. Can't go wrong with that combo! Welsh cake was lovely and light, and the coffee was good. I also really appreciate that every part of the Coffee takeaway cup is compostable, including the lid. Little things like that really make a difference. The atmosphere is lovely and cozy, and I imagine the outdoor seating will be great in the warmer months. To top it all off, great service from warm and friendly staff! I'll definitely be back to try the pastries! 🥐
Alexander B — Google review
Lovely little cafe and bakery with nice indoor and outdoor seating areas. Recommended by a number of locals which is always a good sign. Fab selection of cakes, pastries, artisan breads and a big range of pasties - meat , veggie and vegan. Great coffee and welcoming staff. We had a nice lunch then came back for coffee and cake later on! Situated on a quiet side road between the Roman museum and church. It was nice to get away from the busy main street. Will definitely return. Couldn’t fault it. Would be a good place to stop for walkers or cyclists and is only a 15 minute detour from the M4 if you need a rest stop.
Sarah F — Google review
Amazing coffee from Harris, he is the true king of flat whites! Quick service, lovely atmosphere and great outdoor sitting area in the sun (when we have it!) You know it’s a good coffee when you end up getting two! Will be back very soon.

Amazing! as a child that lived in the area, I was here all the time with my family. Had a range of hot and old food today and it brought back so many memories! So glad the business is still going strong 🙌 the food still tastes so good and excellent value for your money👏 will be back x

The food was lovely. Great selection of salad choices and lots of filling options for rolls/baguettes. The chocolate crunch with pink custard is really good and super affordable price. Its good value for money. They also give you a lot of filling and the food tastes great!
Jasmine — Google review
I always order from here. Amazing cream donuts. But one thing did trouble me. One of the staff handled bacon n sausages with a gloves on. But then sje came over to me..took my order n picked up my cheese and onion pasty with the same gloved hand after touching bacon n sausages with it. I did want to speak up but didnt want to cause an issue. For vegetarians, Jews and Muslims this is an issue.

This is the best bakery around always freshly baked goods every day and the staff are awesome well worth a visit you won't be disappointed

Fabulous, fresh food. Plenty to choose from and so tasty! Perfect location! Opposite Beechwood Park - we regularly get lunch and take it over there. Prices are so reasonable, compared to other local bakeries. I would definitely recommend to others👌🏼

just woke up from the fattest hangover and the lady serving me let me get breakfast 10 minutes before it stopped. she must have known I was hanging on for dear life. my friends and I scranned a breakfast roll, a cheese roll and a chocolate fudge cake. DELICIOUS. 10/10. hangover is cured, life is good. love this shop
Rj R — Google review
This bakery sells mediocre cakes some look decidedly unappealing. I bought a crusty roll and éclair. The roll was stale. The cream in the éclair was off. Rang to complain. Was told nothing wrong with them both fresh today. I'm not in habit of complaining about nothing. I thought a good business would be apologetic instead of adversarial Sorry won't shop here again. Very disappointed

Bakery
Nestled on Chepstow Road in Maindee, Farmhouse Bakery is a delightful gem that offers an array of freshly baked goods, including artisanal bread and rolls, savory pies and pasties, as well as indulgent cakes like their famous cheesecakes. While it may not boast the flashy exterior of larger chains, the quality of its handmade products speaks volumes. Each item is crafted using traditional recipes right on-site, ensuring a taste that far surpasses typical supermarket offerings.
This place may not look as attractive as your regular Greggs shop but hey, we're reviewing the produce aren't we! The Bread and Rolls are made by hand on the premises using traditional recipes so the taste is leagues above Greggs and the usual tasteless supermarket rubbish! The only place to introduce and sell Newport County gingerbread men and if you fancy treating yourself try a delicious ice slice they are not taste free like Greggs and to impress even more they are over twice the size! a real treat!
Paul M — Google review
I've been coming to this bakery since I was a child. I am no in my early 30s. Absolutely amazing cakes and also enjoy their bread from time to time. I find it hard to only but one thing when I visit. Best bakery in Newport by far.

This bakery is truly outstanding their bread rolls and bread is so light I even freeze some if there's any left and they come out of the freezer really well. Then of course their ice slices are the best and biggest about friendly staff make it a truly memorable experience. We'll done everyone

Nestled on Caerleon Road, Wrens Bakery is a beloved gem in Newport that has captured the hearts of locals and visitors alike. This well-established bakery specializes in an impressive array of offerings, from artisanal bread and delectable pastries to filled baguettes and celebration cakes. The reviews speak volumes about the quality; patrons rave about the exceptional taste of their products, particularly highlighting the bread as some of the best they've ever had.
Absolutely brilliant. Got some bread, sausage rolls and some cakes. All food was 10/10 the bread in particular was probably the best bread I’ve ever had and was reasonably priced. Can get quite busy so probably better to go earlier in the day so they don’t run out of the stock you want. Staff were super friendly. Brilliant selection of food as well. Would 100% recommend

My 80th birthday cake was beautifully made by wrens. Sponge moist, with tasty jam and cream in. The cake wad exquisitely decorated with icing and flowers. Thank you so much Made my birthday very special Customer from Newport, Gwent

Just had a fresh cake from Wren’s Bakery — absolutely delicious! Moist, flavorful, and beautifully made. Highly recommend!
Farwa M — Google review
I have just eaten on of Wren's vegan 'sausage' rolls. They are amazing ! Thin turmeric pastry, a huge tasty filling with various beans, onions and, well I would love to have the full recipe so I can replicate it. But, on the other hand, why bother when I can just pop in to the bakery and buy the real deal !!
Sue H — Google review
Good range as long as you're not veggie or vegan. But all their food is very fresh and tasty, although be careful at Christmas as me and an elderly couple I got some cakes for found during chewing that the small holly decorations on top are plastic not icing. However, it's rightly a popular place with queues out the door some times of day.

Last week I turned 43 years old. - On Saturday, I received a box of brownies, as a gift, from ‘Beth’s Bakes’ from a girl at work who knows I love Brownies. ….and I am NOT ok! 43 flipping years old!!!! - that’s 15,700 days! Why has it taken me, my whole existence, of almost 16,000 days to discover the wonder that is “Beth’s Bakes”???? …..I am superbly disturbed that it has taken so so long to find the perfect brownie!!! …..like, Absolutely incredible!! ……and I’m not even joking!! I have purchased Brownies from all over the place in that 15,700 days, and for the most part, they have all been ‘ok’ or ‘so-so’!!….. …UNTIL NOW!!!!!! I’m fuming!!!! ….absolutely livid it has taken 43 years!!! FUMING!!!!

During a lunchtime visit to Parc Pantry | Malpas, there was a timely arrival that allowed for the acquisition of a spacious table for three and a half individuals before it became crowded. This eatery offers multiple baby chairs upon request and boasts an impressive array of dishes. The breakfast menu is available until noon, followed by an enticing lunch selection. Three main courses were enjoyed along with two additional servings of crispy skin-on fries, accompanied by three refreshing beverages.
Very open atmosphere and very friendly staff. The vegan breakfast was perfect! Thank you!

Lovely cafe just north of Newport and in easy access to the M4, serving exceptional coffee and great food from a varied, but focused menu. Our group mostly went for breakfast and I had the full pantry, which was delicious and everything you would expect from a full English breakfast. To compliment this, I went for a flat white which was amazing and a definite highlight. I have to commend the staff for being accommodating for our large group, but it does get busy and it isn't a huge space so it's worth reserving a table if you have groups of 4 or more. Definitely check this place out.

We've come here a few times and it's always quality food and the staff is really friendly, definitely recommend stopping by for a coffee or brunch
Klervi H — Google review
I went with my friend for a treat and our breakfast was awful. I’ve been here previously (a few years ago) and it’s always been high quality and really good. But it appears to have gone downhill. The eggs were very burnt and my friend had shell in hers. My bacon was pretty much raw on one side and burnt as hard as wood on the other and my eggs were also burnt. My friend had eaten about 2/3 of hers before finding egg shell so she was told she can’t have a refund because she had eaten too much, she explained that she didn’t start eating the egg and find the egg shell and how burnt it was underneath until then. I had only eaten about 1/4 of my food before finding and being put off by the issues. But they wouldn’t give me a refund either and they couldn’t say I had eaten too much of it so they didn’t even give me a real reason why I couldn’t have a refund. Their attitude towards us wasn’t great. They were immediately defensive and I got the vibe that they were told to refuse refunds no matter what. We were very polite about it and they acted like we were chancers and our reasons weren’t valid. The eggs were absolutely cremated and inedible. The manager tried to say that we should have said straight away when they brought it out… so my friend was supposed to find shell in her egg without touching the food? A lot of the issues were hidden until we started getting through it. We never complain when going out for food but it really was awful. It would have been nice if it was cooked properly and more care taken but it was cooked appallingly. Not what you expect when paying £10 for a breakfast that I couldn’t even eat. Will never visit again.
Melanie F — Google review
First time here for breakfast. Fast service. Very good portions. Very well presented. Hot. However disappointed with food quality not brilliant. All 3 of us had absolutely blackened crispy bacon strips, pale just cooked sausages and uncooked cherry tomatoes. Egg was slightly overcooked. The beans and tattertots were plentiful. 3 non alcoholic breakfast drinks 3 breakfasts and 1 piece of cake over £60.00. Think will stick to their baguettes.
Welsh D — Google review
Really cute cafe , with a different variety of food & drink selection! They have a lovely station of retail bits as you walk in too! Really friendly & helpful staff, Freya & Nell were lovely and served me & my friend with a smile :) The biscoff and white chocolate blondie was absolutely amazing, will definitely be having one of them again! If you're on the lookout for a delightful dining experience, look no further than Valentine's. This charming eatery has garnered rave reviews for its exceptional Turkish cuisine, with patrons praising dishes like their generous platters and delectable naan bread. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it perfect for family outings or romantic dinners alike. Guests have noted the attentive service from staff members who go above and beyond to ensure satisfaction—whether it's explaining menu items or checking in throughout your meal.
just had a fantastic meal with the wifey here. We had the hummus & platter no1 for 2 people. The food was fabulous and had to have some as a take out as there was that much. The young lady that served us couldn't do enough for us. The chef came over to say hi and he was really nice and was happy to explain what was in the sauces etc. Genuine people and wanted us to have a great experience and we did. Definatley going back. I would highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing food and drinks everything tested delicious and came super fast , staff are so kind and respectful, the place itself is very clean and quite cozy music is cool too)
Дарья Л — Google review
The prices of the food were okay. Other than that, the waitress was fine. But the food was dry. The rice was very dry which is not the typical classic Turkish style. The salads were unseasoned, dry and very bland. The salad we asked for which is the ‘çoban salatası’ was not what it was supposed to be, it was more like a salad they just throw whatever they wanted in it and called it a day. We ordered an order of one lamb pide with vegetables and once it arrived it was chicken. We simply couldn’t be bothered to change it anymore and decided to finish what we had. The ‘half pounder’ was also more like a quarter pounder and was quite tiring to consume. Never again.

Muffin Break Cardiff is a great cafe for pastries and milkshakes. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious. The only downside is that the coffee is often watered down, but that's easily sorted with a complaint!
This is a place I visit for a quick bite, nearly every time I am in Cardiff. It's so easy to get to and is right next to the lifts for the multi-story car park, which is so convenient. The food is amazing and looks really good presented in their fridges, and the hot drinks are really nice. I highly recommend if you want something quick and fast when you are shopping in St David's.

Stopped by Muffin Break for a quick dessert and a cold drink. It’s a comfy spot with plenty of options to choose from. I went for the Dubai chocolate cookie and the Pash ‘n’ Shoot drink. The cookie wasn’t exactly what I expected, but it was still chewy and chocolatey enough to satisfy the sweet tooth. The drink, on the other hand, was refreshing and absolutely delicious. Service was great…friendly, fast, and efficient. Prices were reasonable too. Overall, a nice place for a quick bite or treat. Worth trying if you're in the area and need a break.

Plenty of seating and so much choice available in both sweets and savouries. Has all kinds of hot and cold drinks too. The staff is nice, polite and helpful. We had the vegan sausage, the croissant with cheese and tomato( which was really good), cafe mochas, cappuccinos and milk shakes. All really good. Would recommend.

I usually go for the biscoff cheesecake or the carrot cake with my matcha latte, but today I went for the mudcake. You can't go wrong with a cake from this place. It's my favourite. I never go to st. David's without grabbing something to take home. Everyone here is always so friendly, too, I love it. I do swear that biscoff cheesecake is a slice of heaven though... Srsly most underrated place, 10/10 recommend. I normally avoid buying treats, but once I tasted these I was ruined! Haha Haven't been able to resist ever since. It's worth every penny.

Stopped in for a quick bite before we went to a show, the service was quick, plenty of places to sit down and eat too. Lots of choice and what I had was good. My dad had a cappuccino and said it was lovely! Pretty decently priced too considering it’s Cardiff!

Food was amazing and service was lovely, thanks! Ordered the 3 stack of pancakes with chocolate and strawberries.

Had a coffee and a chocolate chip muffin. It is a rare occurrence to get a coffee that is hot and not luke warm. I always receive an enjoyable hot coffee here. There were too many chocolate chips in the muffin spoiling the muffin for me. The staff are always lovely - friendly and great service.

Muffin Break always catches the eye, because it’s a corner shop in the St David’s Mall. The best thing about this place is their friendly and hospitable staff, and the quick service, especially Harish & Megha who’s always given me good suggestions! Have visited here often, mostly for their hot chocolates, coffee and muffins. I mostly go for Terry Orange Hot chocolate, and it tastes good. The last time I visited, I took suggestion from Harish and tried their Duck Wrap for the first time, which was surprisingly good. The place can get busy often due to its location, but the service has always been quick for me. There’s also enough seating, has a decent ambience and is kept neat and clean. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Food options ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ambience ⭐️⭐️⭐️ value for money ⭐️⭐️⭐️ food Verdict: Go for the items suggested by the staff, they wouldn’t disappoint you! P.S.: The biggest negative I’ve heard about this place is that their cakes and wraps which not always fresh and soft, and not always worth the money. However, I’ve never had a bad experience here thanks to the good suggestions by the staff, and therefore I’d give them a 5 star purely based on my experience there.

With quick service and delicious food, including a fresh and plentiful cooked breakfast, it is sure to become a favorite spot for many. Located in Risca, this cafe offers a pleasant atmosphere for those looking to take a break from driving or simply enjoy a cup of tea. Overall, The Coffee Mill comes highly recommended as a great place to visit.
Visited for the first time today with my 3 month old. Staff were very warm and welcoming. It was like they couldn’t do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble. Even offered to feed the baby for me, while I had a hot meal which as a new mum, was very much appreciated. Didn’t have to wait long at all for food, the cooked breakfast was fresh, delicious and plentiful. Definitely my new favourite place. 100% would recommend.

Visited today with my aunt for some breakfast. Instead of breakfast I had the turkey, sausage, stuffing and cranberry sauce yorkshire pudding wrap from the winter warmer menu. Honestly, the best thing I have ever eaten and freshly made. Yorkshire wrap was light, not at all greasy, and filled to the brim. Absolutely superb. Huge compliments to the chef and highly recommended. Thank you :-)

Nice little cafe near Goldcliff. There is plenty of outside areas to sit, and there is plenty of on road parking nearby. The cafe itself serves hot and cold beverages, cakes and sweets and a few hot dishes such as pasties.

Quirky, charming and full of character. Visited on the bikes, plenty of seating outside. Such funny and quirky decor in the gardens! Delicious cakes, a nice cuppa and the lovely chap who runs the place kindly let me use his bathroom (in his own private property!) Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere and highly recommend! Will visit again thanks for a lovely pit stop!

The Seawall Tearooms GoldCliff . The wonderful welcome and homemade cakes a tea or coffee plenty of seating areas after a wonderful peaceful day just unwinding and enjoying a walk along the Seawall a Wonderful tearoom a place to meet and greet just a few steps from the Sea. The Natural Beauty of this area is truly worth fighting over and our Local Pirates know it’s real true worth as I do when the shifting sand allows me to create wonderful Sand Art on a very Sacred piece of Sand on the most Eastern stretch of True Welsh Coast on the Severn Tidal River. Go Create Your Dreams Wherever they maybe. Follow your hearty Dreams and get a tea or two followed with a cake 🍰 but most of all enjoy this View of a Balanced Tower or two . xxx SH. It’s our Secret xxx in the balance .

This is a great place to visit especially on a hot day for a nice walk so if you’re a couple & you fancy a romantic stroll then this is ideal for you or if you are a bunch of friends that fancies a walk together if you have older kids from 3 upwards it’s also good for them as well as they can run & burn off their energy (with supervision) there is some nice views here also.

Lovely place, now world famous, after being featured in Blue Blood by Damien Boyd.
Robert F — Google review
It's been a long while since I was last here, so as I was working in the area I thought I'd relive happy times. The Seawall is out in the middle of nowhere, but is easy to find...satnav takes you straight to the door. Parking is on a narrow road, although it does open out just beyond the cafe. You are sure of a really warm welcome, even in these challenging times a big smile is to be found. There is a good choice of food and drink, with great prices, a cup of tea and small chocolate bar for £2...absolute bargain! A short walk to the actual seawall, with lovely views over the River Severn. Definitely worth a visit.
Allan J — Google review
I've just visited the tea rooms again after new ownership by Steve and Phillipa. I was their first customer... They are open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11am till 2 pm. So if you enjoyed going there before, try them again.
Robert S — Google review
I was expecting more given the reviews. Asked for water for dogs and was given plastic container with thick film of algae in it. I tried to clean it as much as possible but maybe I didn't clean it enough. My dogs were sick afterwards. If pets drink algae affected water, it can poison them. Coffee could have been better, was charged £2 for instant black coffee.
