Doc Ford's Rum Bar & Grille is a casual dining destination that brings the adventurous spirit of the Doc Ford novels to life. Inspired by the flavors and spices from Randy Wayne White's travels, this restaurant offers a blend of Caribbean and South American cuisine with a touch of upscale sports bar vibe. Located in Sanibel Island, it provides a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for breakfast, featuring both traditional favorites and innovative dishes.
This is a small local chain that is bulletproof when it comes to quality and consistency. The menu is filled with creative and imaginative dishes including their famous Yucatán shrimp! Other highlights include their very generous and fresh ingredient salads, fish dishes & daily specials. added bonus, the burger is fantastic as is the Cuban sandwich. The staff is efficient and jovial. Check out this Mexican street corn soup and buffalo shrimp appetizer. I’ve had most of the items on the menu and can’t think of one that does not over deliver. The same can be said for the dessert choices. Carrot cake is easily my favorite.
Gregory R — Google review
There's some great food at Doc Ford's, specializing in seafood items. The grouper dinners and sandwiches we tried were excellent. One of my rules of thumb is to try the menu items featured most prominently in the menu. All the grouper selections were highlighted with boxes drawn around them on the menu. They proved to be great choices. Another rule of thumb is to order whatever might be part of the name of the establishment . In this case, that would be rum, but we did not try that. Service was way, way too slow, which was not satisfactory. We visited on a Friday afternoon and every step in the process of having a restaurant meal seemed to take forever, except the initial seating, which was immediate. The place was not filled either. We saw a good number of empty tables while we were there. Our waitress seemed helpful when we saw her, but then she would disappear for long periods of time, nowhere to be seen in the dining area before she would emerge to find our table again. After our food was delivered, the grouper did not come with tartar sauce and we asked her for some. This took 15 minutes, which was ridiculous. We overheard other tables asking her where their check was or pulling her aside to ask if they could have some water. We just didn't understand why everything took forever. The reason we came here was to enjoy a meal with family and friends, which we did. The quality of the food saved the day (and my 5 star rating), but the service aspect of the operation needs improvement. We didn't think it was our waitress's fault, but most people could blame it on her. We enjoyed learning about the Doc Ford character from novels written by the same man that owns this enterprise. And we enjoy spending time enjoying our meal, but that goes too far especially when the kids reach the point where they get antsy, and the adults in our group get uncomfortable sitting so long in their seats, it's time to go, which is what we finally did. As much as we liked the time here, we also enjoyed that it finally ended.

I came here with my husband on our 10 year anniversary for some good food and drinks in a laid back setting, and we certainly got what we were looking for! It was only a Monday, but for a Monday, they can get busy! This place is clearly very popular. The service was kind of slow, but our server (didn't catch her name) was very sweet and kind so it made up for it. We got two of their rum cocktails and they were both delicious. The drinks were fairly priced for how strong they tasted. We got two appetizers, the chicken taquitos and the calamari (forgot to take photos, too excited). My husband loved the taquitos, the shredded chicken was flavorful and the shells were very crispy. The calamari was also great, mostly large sized rings, lightly golden fried, and they were SOO tender inside! I'm used to mostly rubbery calamari from other restaurants, but the calamari from here is definitely different and so soft. Truly melts in your mouth. We devoured them so quick before the server could even come back to see how we liked them. For the entrees, we went with sandwiches. I got the grouper sandwich grilled and my husband got their pulled pork sandwich. The grouper sandwich was amazing. The fish was cooked perfectly and tasted so clean and fresh. The slaw I got for my side was kind of swimming in mayo, would have been nice to be a little lighter with the mayo but that's okay. My husband was a huge fan of the pulled pork sandwich, he said the sauce that the pork was mixed with was perfect. Overall the food here was so great, much better than I expected. Portion sizes were reasonable and we didn't end up needing to go boxes which is a plus in my book (because who wants to reheat a fish sandwich?). Will definitely plan to come back here in the future.

A Seafood Lover’s Dream! If you’re looking for a spot that knows how to do seafood right, this is it! Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The standout for us was the shrimp in sauce—perfectly cooked, tender shrimp in a rich, mouthwatering sauce that had just the right amount of flavor and kick. It’s clearly their specialty, and it shows! We also had the macadamia-crusted grouper, and wow—what a dish! The crust added the perfect nutty crunch without overpowering the flaky, perfectly cooked fish. It was beautifully balanced and so satisfying. Every bite showed care, quality ingredients, and expert cooking. Great service, great atmosphere, and most importantly, amazing food. Highly recommend to anyone who loves seafood or just appreciates a great meal!

Amazing. We sampled a rum flight, got two of the signature cocktails, got the baked oysters, the tostadas, i got the nightly special and my significant other got the paella! Chael was the best server/bartender- he was extremely knowledgeble on the menu and knew exactly what to suggest. Will be back soon. 10/10

We were very impressed with this restaurant! The food was delicious, but what truly amazed us was the speed and quality of the service. It was absolutely outstanding. The atmosphere and attention to detail made the experience unforgettable. We’ll definitely be coming back.

This place is great. The outside patio is shaded and has fans. I'm usually too hot outside, but this patio was very comfortable. We all really liked our food. We will be eating there again before we leave the island! Service was fast and accurate. Prices were fair.

Super delicious food and drinks - we had the crab cakes as an appetizer. The Yucatan Shrimp lives up to the hype and the Mahi Mahi is equally delicious.

Thistle Lodge Beachfront Restaurant, located on the grounds of Casa Ybel Resort, offers a wide-ranging menu featuring seafood and grilled fare. The historic home provides an elegant dining experience with outdoor seating and a refined ambiance complete with crisp white linens, gleaming crystal, polished silver, and soft jazz music. Chef Omar Clarke prepares thoughtfully crafted holiday menus alongside brunch, lunch, and dinner options.
A true resort dinning experience! The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The decor lends to the Island feel, and sitting outside you can hear the oceans waves and see the Gulf from certain areas. They had a long wine list, both by the glass or bottles, as well as a full liquor selection and a decent amount of beers on tap. Their seafood selection was top notch, but they also had a number of land options that were equally as delicious sounding. We took the servers advice on our seafood choice and went with the Sea Bass, which was perfectly prepared so it was firm but not chewy. For land we went with the grilled filet, medium rare, and it came out perfectly cooked, buttery, and ultra tender. Highly recommend for those with a taste for quality, both in food and service.

The location of this restaurant was quite amazing! For a nice dining experience we were very pleased. Marco took great care of us and recommended some good dishes! We will return for another special occasion dining!

We were on a delayed anniversary trip, and they helped us celebrate! There was a magnificent ocean view table and a card as well as great food and wonderful service! I enjoyed the lobster bisque as a starter. Hubby had the basque chicken, and I had the pistachio encrusted salmon. Everything was delish including the wine suggested by our server! We'll definitely be back!

Most exquisite restaurant on Sansibel Island. Thistle Lodge Beachfront Restaurant is fine dining, literally on the beach. Impressive, artfully conceived offerings like scallops, crab, lobster, filled minon, pastas that are presented in a way that pleases the eye and much as the pallet. I was very happy with the way the staff did what they did. They know they are the top place on the island and love up to it with impeccable service. A little dressed up on the beach. Then go here. Magnificent wine list, fun bar. And the view is nothing short of compelling. Right on the beach. Loved it!!!

Oh so disappointing! We thought this would be a nice way to spend the 4th of July for our friend saying it was her birthday. On arrival for lunch we where seated by the window right next to another table that has a party of four. The restaurant was empty there was no need to have us close to this other table. Then the waitress Jazmyn comes with the menu we give our drink order it took exactly 9min to receive the drinks (weak drinks) very little alcohol in them. We proceeded to order our starters 10min later they came out and I must say very tasty however on one of the starters we ordered chicken Quesadilla and on the plate was three small quarters, where did the four one go? So cheap of them. The male server came to the table and starter to take our plates while we where still eating the starters. I was like excuse me as you can see we are still eating and please do not remove anything unless we are finished. He made a huff and walked away. Very rude and unprofessional of him. We continued to order our main lunch meal and 15 min later out it came. Pictures will show on the grouper sandwich is was dry over cooked and tasteless. The lobster roll tasted like canned lobster and the bread over done. The tuna plate was fine. Now back to the birthday girl! You would think knowing it was her birthday the waitress would of made some fuss over her or offered a bday surprise dessert but no all she got was after we paid the bill of $207.62 while walking away. Oh have a good birthday. We where like what!!! Never ever again will I ever return to this place and I think an explanation and apology from any manager should be a follow up reply to this. One more thing as we walked in the ceiling due to obviously water was falling in and the smell of mold was high.

The service was wonderful. The food was delicious. We had the red Snapper special, chicken fettuccine, the beach salad and the ceasar, and shared a key lime pie. And the views...

What a lovely & elegant dinner we enjoyed at the scenic Thistle Lodge Beachfront Restaurant at the Casa Ybel Resort on Sanibel Island! From the reservation process through dessert, everything was perfect! We started with cedar grilled octopus served over garlic fingerling potatoes with a blueberry compote. This dish is tender and layered with flavors that enhance the seafood. The Mediterranean Pompano, grilled and served with spinach, olives, cherry tomatoes and plated with a creamy risotto was out of this world! The Seafood Provençal was full of fresh shellfish, in a delicious, light, creamy garlic wine sauce served over angel hair pasta. Oh, the Caprese Salad was so wonderful I forgot to photograph it! The sea salt caramel cheesecake was excellent and the birthday brownie, ice cream, strawberries and cream decadent! The online reservation process was super helpful as I indicated my seating preference with a waterfront view and desire for a birthday surprise. Everything was perfectly & discreetly arranged and ready when we arrived, thanks to the experienced Maitre’d’ and Tanya our excellent server! If you enjoy fine dining, this is the place for you on the Island. Reservations strongly suggested as restaurant filled quickly, in spite of September “off season.” Easy and plentiful parking.

First time trying and my shrimp scampi was amazing! Lots of shrimp. The sourdough was great and the wait staff was knowledgeable and very attentive! We will be back! So we want back 3 days later and got a ribeye and the strip. Both cooked perfectly and seasoned very well!

Oh my! Amazing food! The flavor was exceptional! Our waitress was amazing! Save your pennies. Well worth it. Best place yet!

My husband and I ate here with a friend in November 2021. This was the best fish I've had in the Ft Myers area. Service was excellent. The ambience here is great -- especially off season. I plan to go back in May (off season) when friends are in town.

Just finished possibly one of the best meals I’ve ever had Sanibel. Our server Logan was amazing. She went over the drink menu & specials & made great recommendations that both my wife and I loved. The food, service & ambiance were a perfect 10/10. Perfect way to celebrate our 3 year anniversary of getting married here on Sanibel island. Thank you Logan for the great night! Make sure you get her as your server!

What an amazing anniversary dinner at The Sandbar! Chef Brian is on top of his game. From the boom boom shrimp appetizer to my wife's filet, done perfectly, to my ribs it was all prepared spot on! And dessert of my creme Brule and my wife's chocolate martini topped off a perfect dinner!

My husband and I are in love with this place! The food is always excellent and we've had great service every time we've gone. We try to get in for all of our special occasions because we just love it so much.
Nicole H — Google review
Eat here with caution. I know ownership is changing and with it a new executive chef. We ate here twice and both times the food was excellent. Friday night was amazing with a truly delicious bronzed snapper on top of a mushroom risotto, fresh bread and a seafood trio where everything was good except the crab cake lacked much in the way of crab. Saturday night seemed less good. The bread was crunchy to the point that it hurt to eat. Great iceberg salad with the right amounts of everything. The coconut shrimp was good, but not something I’d come back for. The snapper and risotto was again delicious, but this night the risotto seemed heavy on tomato and less rich and practically no mushrooms. Both cocktails we had (an old fashion and margaritas both nights) were well made. Great waiting staff as well with attentive service! Again eat with caution since ownership is changing, and I don’t know if the quality will be maintained. Hopefully when I return it will still be good!

A great place for a good dinner. The menu has some delicious, freshly prepared dishes — we ordered the daily specials, and they were as tasty as they sounded. Staff were friendly and efficient. It’s worth booking ahead, as they get busy at peak times.

Traders Restaurant on Sanibel is a charming spot that combines a gift shop with a dining experience. It has been a local favorite for over 20 years, offering succulent steak and seafood dishes complemented by live music several nights a week. The restaurant's executive chef, Mike Patnode, prepares delectable entrees such as macadamia-encrusted grouper and pan-sauteed diver scallops.
This is an excellent restaurant for an informal dinner. The ambiance, the food and the service are superb. The manager was even kinder and nicer than the waitress. The Baby Back Ribs and the Moules were superb.

Wow! We have eaten all over the island and so far this has been the best food and atmosphere by far. Nice look and feel in the restaurant. Hostess greeted us as soon as we came in. Waitress was timely and friendly. We got the crab stuffed shrimp, ribeye and chicken Parmesan. Then, creme brulee and salted caramel cheesecake. The food was outstanding.

To die for! Intimate yet formal atmosphere and delicious food. Started off with fried calamari and shrimp bisque. I had chicken parmesan with pesto red sauce. Finished off with peanut butter pie for dessert. Everything was absolutely amazing. 11/10, definitely consider this if your in the Sanibel/Fort Myers area.

A favorite lunch spot of mine. I haven’t been here for dinner in ages, but judging by the quality of my lunch experience, I would imagine dinner is as good if not better. Today we had grilled chicken over Caesar salad and half a club sandwich with an amazing New England clam chowder. The food is always perfectly prepared and the staff is always helpful and smiling!

I had the short ribs and the peanut butter pie. Both were amazing. I loved the atmosphere of this place and the service was very good. Clean inside and out. It looks brand new, but the server said it has been open for many years. I would go back again. There are plenty of good things on the menu.

Excellent restaurant all around. Food, service and ambiance are all A-1. For appetizers I recommend the calamari fritti (completely different from what I had tried before) and the crispy ribs. As entrees we had the bone in grilled pork chop, seafood platter, the Bucatini al’Amatriciana and the meat balls for children. All were very tasteful and fresh. For dessert the apple and chocolate tart was delicious. Our waiter was very nice. helpful and knowledgeable. The lightning and the music were soft and inviting. Worth to come back.

Delicious dinner a few nights ago! We started with the wedge salad and each chose a different entree. My personal favorite was the 12oz Ribeye and the Chilean Sea Bass. The flavor of the ribeye was perfect! The buttery, flaky sea bass was close your eyes and savor good! Mmmm! Highly recommend!

Best fine dining restaurant on Sanibel Island, in my humble opinion. Delicious and unique cocktail offerings. Extensive wine list. They always seem to have a great special either for app, main or both. I’ve never had anything less than a fantastic meal here and elite service. Have been coming to Sanibel for 15+ years and always try to make a night available to go here. We really miss the live piano though!

Went while on vacation and the food was marvelous. Between this and wickies lighthouse the food you can find around here is to die for ! The focaccia bread and artichoke oil you get at the table is warm and fresh, the appetizers are all plated beautifully and taste great, and the entrees of course are very flavorful and nice. They aren’t super heavy/carb based it’s definitely a little lighter / veggie and protein focus but that’s good for some people ! Not the place to go if you want a super carb heavy meat and potato type dinner I feel … and dessert ! Wow ! The flourless cake was fudgy and outstanding and paired with the cappuccino was the perfect end to dinner. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an upscale meal on the island . Great servers and atmosphere too

My wife and I were celebrating her 70th Birthday and our 50th wedding anniversary and not sure where we were going for dinner and a gentleman on the plane told us to try Cielo. His recommendation turned out to be a great one. From the moment we stepped in and were greeted by Charles Grover we knew we were in the right place. Charles was very accomdating, our waitress, Coreen, was also very friendly and professional. The food was absolutely outstanding. The calamri was incredible as were the Chilean Sea Bass, which my wife had and the pork chop that I had was outstanding. Topped off with a dessert of tiramisu made for a great dining experience. I highly recommend this fine establishement to anyone looking for good food, great service and atmospher.

Our server Irma was great. Excellent service. The Chilean Seabass was one of the best prepared. Coming from a chef, I'd definitely come back.

A pleasant evening was had by my party of four. The food was good and turned up at the table in a reasonable amount of time. The restaurant is bright and airy and well sound proofed so all the surrounding conversations did not intrude. The table was a little cramped for four and there was no beer list, though a small selection was available. Wine is more of this restaurant's things.
Simon R — Google review
The food, service and atmosphere here were phenomenal. Music was all instrumental and was really nice. We did make a reservation and when we arrived we had no wait. Our waiter was able to answer to any question we had about the menus, and was able to provide great recommendations. Pricing was pretty reasonable for food and drinks. Everything we got we loved: wedge salad (I recommend), Grilled Filet of Beef, Wagyu Burger, Wagyu Beef Cheek Pasta, and Apricot - Pistachio Seared Chicken. Everyone in my party loved what they got. I forgot to take a photo of our dinners but took one of my tiramisu (100% recommend as a dessert).

Restaurant
Cips Place Restaurant is a charming bistro on Sanibel Island, paying homage to the island's history and former resident Jimmy Cipriani. The restaurant offers a relaxed and inviting atmosphere with outdoor seating and a boat-shaped bar. Inside, guests can admire a mural depicting the island's historical figures. The menu features New American cuisine, including popular dishes like Island Steak Tips and Cip's Chopped Salad, accompanied by a fine selection of wines and craft beers.
Okay, so I'm standing for Sanibel, as well as Cips. As we all know, Sanibel was decimated by Hurricane Ian in late September of 2022. However, the latest review by J. O. (aside from this one) was just a year ago?? Chips hasn't reopened after Ian (although I hope they do). That review was very negative & vague. Also, Cips did have a burger, but it was only about $14, not $30. Most of their food was NOT "pedestrian" food. I question the validity of said review. So, as someone who visits Sanibel yearly & visited Cips more than once each year since they opened, I want to add my honest review. Cips was always clean & inviting. Each time we visited, we were greeted by & served by friendly, smiling faces, no matter their position. The food was prepared beautifully, was fresh, appropriate temperature and tasted divine. A few of our family favorites were Cips Chips (loaded homemade chips), Truffle Fries, Caprese Flatbread, Buttermilk Chicken, Rigatoni Bolognese, Enchilada Stack & Sloppy Joe. I've added photos showing some food items, the walkway, inside the restaurant & the outdoor seating. WE MISS YOU CIPS!!
Amy H — Google review
If you like to over pay for pedestrian food, such as an average hamburger for $30, go here. If you like waste money, go here. If you like mediocre service, go here. Our experience was awful and we will not return. (Pre Ian) 2 stars for atmosphere, because you can sit outside.

We were on the island all week last week and ate here at the end of the week. It was the best food we had all week! The restaurant was super clean! Our waitress, Anna, was wonderful! The coconut grouper and truffle fries were delicious!

What a great place! We met a couple of friends for dinner last night and we had a great meal and a great time! Our friends had the triple tail fresh catch special and they both devoured it and the fresh clipped green beans that came with it! My beautiful wife had the enchilada stack that had just the right heat and was amazing and she cleaned her plate! As for me, I had the Rigatoni Bologenese with sausage, beef and bacon in a creamy tomato Bologenese sauce and the sunset shrimp appetizer! The shrimp was in a red sauce that had just the right amount of heat to it and it was a generous portion! All in all it was a great night with friends and chef Danny did an amazing job! Thanks!

NICE ATMOSPHERE. Not busy Sunday evening. Decent ambience and attentive staff. Good kids menu and a good place for families. Burgers and wings were a hit with the teens. One teen remarked it was the best burger he had! Pasta with marinara sauce for the younger one. The mahi sandwich was certainly alright. Not the best I’ve had but not bad. Overall, it was a close bet for 5 stars but I gave Cip’s the benefit of the doubt.

We rate restaurants on ambiance, service and food/drinks. First, the ambiance was lacking which was disappointing because the outside are is absolutely beautiful (we sat inside due to heat). No music (or very low) and it felt dark inside the restaurant. It felt like at times they were understaffed as we had to wait for things to be delivered. However our waitress was very nice! The food was a solid 3+... And we ate it all. We got a shrimp pasta and the fried chicken. Overall, we give it a 3.

Very family oriented. Beautiful and elegant but at the same time with a relaxed ambiance. Perfect to visit with family. There are rabbits around to spot and have find while waiting for food to come. Service and food are amazing. They offered fresh bread pretzel like which was delicious. I highly recommend the bbq ribs. Clam chowder has a quite different taste than the original, a bit sour but very interesting and original. Definitely looking forward to visit this place again when visiting Sanibel Island.

The short: If you are reading this... Just set your gps and go. You won't be disappointed. Everything is amazing. The long: I called ahead to ask if there was "a wait" because it was a holiday weekend. The hostess asked me how far away I was and i told her 6.8 miles at the marriott and we are 2 adults and a baby. She put me on hold for a minute to take a look around and when she came back she said "I have a table, i will save you inside, see you when you get here." In my home town 6.8 miles is about 10 minutes but in sleepy Sanibel it was closer to 20 minutes. The parking lot was packed and I got a little nervous. We parked and start walking. The front of the restaurant has a beautiful entrance and of course i had to take a few photos for my review. We are greeted by the hostess, an older woman and as i looked around, the place was full. I gave her my name and she said "right this way!". The table was on the opposite side of the bar which was perfect because it gave us plenty of space to feel save in this "covid19" era. We were greeted by the server and after her recommendation we decided to try the coconut grouper appetizer. Let me pause for a minute and tell you, they were amazing. I have spent a lot of time eating coconut grouper in the Florida keys and this was up there with the best of them. We also tried a few of the drinks from their specialty drink menu. One was a mango and something (I'm tired, maybe i remember tomorrow) fruit martini that was literally perfect. It wasnt overpowering with vodka and it wasnt too sweet from juice. It was the perfect blend for a pair of travelers looking to relax. The top shelf margarita was also just as amazing. Normally at most restaurants they advertise grand marnier but you never actually taste it. This also was the perfect blend of tequila, sweet and sour and grand marnier. My wife decided she didnt want to eat too heavy because we are going to the beach tomorrow. I stayed quiet and said ok. She ordered the fish tacos and I ordered the shrimp cipriani pasta. Now, for the record. I never order pasta but there was something about the description that was calling my name. I dont know what it was but something about... pancetta, roasted garlic, sundried tomato pesto and artichoke hearts. finished with cream was calling my name.... One bite was all it took and i was in love.... This was probably the best pasta dish, i have had in my last 15 years. Now, thru college i worked at many high end restaurants to pay for school and many had some very rich pastas but the blend of flavors blew my mind. The pancetta wasn't thin slices that disappear in the sauce, they were similar to small lego blocks that were hearty bites with the pasta and shrimp. I could talk about this dish for quite some time but i know you will stop reading so i will continue. The fish tacos were two large soft tacos which looked like around 7 ozs of mahi in total (i didnt ask, just an observation) and my wife was very happy and so was i. As we enjoyed our meal i asked for another drink, one from their specialty menu and while i don't remember the name, it was made with some sort of cake flavored vodka. Let me tell you... it may be a little too sweet for most people but i had no cravings for dessert afterwards so it did it's job. Hahaha. I will try to replicate this drink at my daughter's next birthday party it was so good. I could write more but this was a very enjoyable evening and as much as i hate to visit the same restaurant twice in one quick visit. I feel i must come back for more of that pasta and different drinks from their specialty menu. Come check it out. It will be worth the visit.

If you're looking for a casual, waterfront seafood restaurant on Sanibel Island that offers great food and superb service, then Gramma Dot's is the place for you. With its marina setting and impressive view of vessels at anchor, this restaurant is perfect for enjoying a family dinner or some drinks with friends.
Our favorite place to eat on the island since 1981! Fabulous food at great prices. We have eaten here twice this week while on vacation. Our waiter Nick (both times) is extraordinary. Don’t miss the grouper sandwich and key lime pie, which are also the best on the island. Fried shrimp is amazing too.

This restaurant is a must visit for a trip to Sanibel. The wait staff were all amazing and very friendly. All of the dishes we got were delicious. The coconut shrimp was the standout dish for the evening. I also enjoyed the salmon dinner. You truly can not go wrong on this menu. I would also recommend the potato croquettes as a side.

If you are looking for deep-fried seafood this will work. The highlights were the lobster roll and crab cake. The grouper (not deep-fried) was dry. Everything else was breaded and fried and just ok. Service was very good. Place was busy for a Sunday. Cool location.

This use to be one of our favorite places. We had to send our fish and chips back. We sat outside on the patio, and they were doing dock work. It was extremely loud. I do highly recommend the coconut shrimp. It was the best we ever had.

Food was just OK. The sever was fine, the atmosphere was fine. The hostess looked like she was dying with a sourpuss face. The smoked fish dip and the pina colada were good. Those two things were the best thing we had. Everything else was just blah. Everything needed salt or something. We ordered the scallop basket (fried), coconut shrimp, clam chowder and key lime pie. The key lime pie was disgusting, I can’t explain the consistency was pasty. The chowder we had to keep adding hot sauce & salt to make it edible. Would def not go back. 🤷‍♀️

Shared the seafood plate which was 42 but 2 people can eat from it. Seafood was incredibly fresh and cooked perfectly. Others in our group had salmon which was the best salmon I have tried. Fried shrimp and fried clams were awesome. Not a big place but about half a dozen of us on a weekend night only waited about 10 min. Beautiful outside to walk around.

We called in here after passing and what a find, food was excellent. We had a fillet mignon sandwich and the grouper salad, Nick was our server and was really attentive and helpful. All the staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough, and the outside patio area is great spot. This is a must for anyone visiting Sanibel Island

Restaurant
Sweet Melissa's Cafe is a top dining spot on Sanibel Island, offering refined American cuisine with a focus on seafood. Chef Melissa Donahue, a James Beard semifinalist, showcases her culinary expertise in the welcoming restaurant adorned with wood chair-railing and large oil paintings. The well-spaced tables around the exhibition kitchen provide an intimate dining experience where guests can witness the culinary artistry firsthand. The locally sourced ingredients from trusted suppliers contribute to the delectable dishes that feature unique flavor combinations.
I've been going to Sweet Melissa's Cafe since it opened on Sanibel in 2009, but this is the first time I've left a review. Melissa's food is incredible. Always fresh, season, and fabulous. And hee staff is always so friendly and attentive. Tonight, my mom and I shared the watermelon and heirloom tomato salad (empty plate, oops :). And I had the pork belly boa buns for dinner. I don't remember seeing the buns on the menu before. They were magnificent and completely satisfying. My mom and husband always, always get the famous fish stew. Everybody was a happy camper tonight. We had our meal in the Island Pizza building while we wait for Melissa's new building to be built on her old site next door... She has a pop-up experience in Island Pizza most Thursdays and Fridays (just call ahead to Island Pizza make a reservation). Overall, I'm always so satisfied by any meal at this restaurant, and I look forward to seeing what's next for Sweet Melissa's Cafe.

My wife and I were excited to return to Sweet Melissas after hearing the great news of their reopening in a new off-island space. It’s always a joy to see a beloved local gem back in business, and we were eager to experience what the new location had to offer. However, while I’m thrilled that Sweet Melissa is back, the overall execution and flavor of many of the dishes fell short of our expectations, especially compared to the high standards set by pre-Ian Sweet Melissas. We started with the Lamb Meatballs with Whipped Feta was delectable—rich in flavor, tender, and perfectly balanced. It was a standout and, honestly, the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the rest of the dishes did not quite live up to that same level of excellence. The Sweet and Spicy Shrimp and Grits, Fettuccine and Clams, and Mussels, while decent, lacked the punch and finesse I’d come to expect from this restaurant. The flavors seemed muted, and the overall execution didn’t quite hit the mark. The Redfish was tasty, but again, nothing to rave about. A bit of a letdown, considering how often Sweet Melissas knocked it out of the park in the past. To make matters worse, all of our dishes were served lukewarm—not piping hot, not steaming, and certainly not something that needed to be blown down. I can’t help but feel that the kitchen may still be working out a few kinks in the new space. The service was another area that left us scratching our heads. Our waiter’s etiquette was strange and he didn’t seem to read the table very well. While we weren’t looking for anything extravagant, a more attentive and polished approach would have gone a long way to elevate the experience. Despite these hiccups, I’m genuinely excited that Sweet Melissas is back in business. It’s clear they’re still trying to find their footing in this new space, and I’m hopeful that with time, they’ll get back to delivering the consistent, flavorful dishes that made them a favorite before. I will absolutely spread the good news that they’re back and plan to return in the future, hoping that the next visit will be a return to the quality we’ve come to love.

I enjoy the food here so much I can’t deduct a single star. From the salads, to the cheese plate to our main courses, absolutely everything was wonderful. Our only compliant was the inside is very loud. We’re going a second time before we head home. Here’s a picture of the fish stew and scallops. We went again tonight. They double checked with us multiple times before our first due to our party size. They put us on the patio which had a lovely atmosphere. Our server was amazing. Our food was even better than last week. Melissa stopped at every table tonight. My friends raved about the beef tartare. The fish stew was again a big hit.

Excellent place for dinner, which is why we went. I had the best tenderloin I have ever had, paired with some cooked spinach and garlic mashed potatoes, it's going on my list for the best dishes of all time. I had the octopus as a small dish, and it was average. Atmosphere felt more like a higher-class restaurant than a "café" like the name suggested. My goat cheese-cheesecake with crushed pistachios was absolutely superb. Prices were high, but fair considering the quality of the food.
Zach R — Google review
Very delicious and unique dishes, french inspired. The set menus for holidays like New Year's are an extra special treat. Hearing Melissa communicate with the chefs from the open kitchen gives a rare experience that directly connects you to the artists behind the decadent dishes.

Marvelous!! Fish stew is common food. You can find it up and down the coasts and throughout the islands. Fresh ingredients, good seafood, etc. And it's all good to very good. What chef Melissa uses is the best shellfish, the best fish, the best spices , tomatoes and wine.. and cooks it all perfectly! Tender scallops, great, plump mussels and clams, fresh shrimp and classic, perfectly done fish fillets. Garlic was not raw or bitter. Sausage was a nice counterpoint and not overpowering. You were glad they served it with grilled bread so you could sop up every single drop of the sauce. Our Server was quiet, professional and wore a mask and gloves. Social distancing and outside seating are part of the program. A little more expensive, but we'll worth it! Take your best date and go enjoy the soft piano jazz and ambclassic, We'll be going back!

It's not often that you find a restaurant while traveling that you love so much you go back for a second time! Melissa's restaurant is not your average Sanibel "grouper" sandwich place. Her food is inspired, creative and sooooo good. As reviewed below it's way above 5 stars!! I enjoyed the James Beard Award Winning Fish Stew both times; IT WAS THAT GOOD! Creative menu offerings like crispy sweetbreads and goat cheese cheesecake. The night we were there they had carrot cake with triple cheese frosting. Who does that!? They offer intimate outdoor dining and our servers was excellent with a delightful personality. I cannot say enough great things about this chef and restaurant. Try it you will not be disappointed. One of the best restaurants ever! I want to go back to Sanibel just for Sweet Melissa's

Highs: Atomposhere, Live Guitar Lows: Expensive, Limited Menu, Quirky Taste Combinations, Poorly Executed. The sum of the parts do not equal the whole. If this was a sports analogy you could say they scored alot of points but poor execution and too many mistakes cost them the win. Maybe one star is somewhat unfair but when you spend over $180 on a dinner out you would like to come away feeling good about it. So many good reviews and we were lured into this place by the online menu which had some interesting appetizers and entrees. We went to celebrate our anniversary hoping for something memorable, which it was but not in a good way, we got there to find the menu was different, which I know happens but what was offered was not anything stellar to choose from with only 5 entrees and some bizarre sounding sting-ray wing special. Not a chicken dish to be found. Trying to find a variation of flavors not to be redundant between the appy and entree, I went with the mussels and frites the wife had the grilled octopus one of her faves, the mussels were good, French fries with them tho? I can pass on that! wife loved the octopus very tender, BUT they served with with Korean BBQ sauce too over-powering, when less is more, simple, fresh lemon, EVOO and cilantro would have been better. Plus the brussle sprouts were charred looking outside but basically raw inside. Bread and dipping oil (which was good) did not get to the table until we were almost thru our appetizers course. Then came wine debacle #1: saw on the wine list a very interesting Cuvee, ordered a bottle, the blend on the bottle was not what as described on the wine list, different by far, opted for something else. Entrees came, Mrs. Ordered the smoked tenderloin because there wasn't much to choose from, asked it be cooked MEDIUM, the steak arrived and after two slices it was found raw inside, sent it back, returned a few minutes later still on the rarer side (see photo) sent back again, got it to a point it was edible. [This was also noted in another one star review] My Duck Breast was cooked nicely but the rest of the dish was a disaster, just an ugly plate of food, the so-called sweet potato gnocchi were four prune sized gummy, pan blackened wads with a play- dough consistency, and the braised red cabbage gave a twisted suarukraut flavor to the dish, just a mis-paired combo, a nice chorizo and poached apple corn bread stuffing and a grilled Portobello slice would have worked better. As in another one star review this place tries do a mash-up of flavors, attempting to be eclectic and tries to do too much and can't pull it off. When you only have FIVE entrees on the menu they should be the most amazing dishes ever presented. Last but not least got the key lime bread pudding, I thought it was very good, freshly warm, however the lime taste is just a hint almost undetectable. Wine debacle #2 happened when we asked for the Standing Stone Vineyard (Finger Lakes NY) Reisling Ice Dessert Wine. We emphatically asked the waiter do you have this Because Its rare to find. He assured us yes, but we ended up with glasses of regular Reisling wine, (see photo) very disappointing. So on that I blame our waiter, the service was Ok otherwise. Most people seem to come for the $40 fish stew, that seems to be the flagship dish here. The Goat cheese cheesecake also seems popular, comes out in huge slab big enought to share. Know they have two serving sizes for the entree's. The half portion is very small. I Know this review won't affect the popularity of this place, its always busy and has be around for years. Just on this day we were hoping for a special fine dining experience and this fell way short. Not worth the money. Would not go back.

Taste of New Orleans in Sanibel. Food is exceptional, service is amazing. Even then manager stopped by our table yesterday to see how we liked the oysters. We LOVED the oysters! Frannie took wonderful care of us and she was just full of personality in a little package. Live music and chill vibe. Best of all…. it was a hot spot for diners but the wait to receive our drinks, apps, entrees, and dessert was absolutely no wait! Definitely coming back here.

Food, atmosphere and service were phenomenal, but portions are a little small depending on what you get. There are a lot of options for non-seafood eaters. I got the Bayou Shrimp Boil and absolutely loved it. 100% worth the price and was a big serving. My partner got the chicken royal and it was a small portion for an adult. It was a thin chicken breast. His was $2 more than my shrimp boil and was less food. All in all we loved it, other than the serving size of the chicken royal with the price. Think he’ll try something different next time.

If you like anything Cajun or are missing authentic food in NOLA, then this is the place to go on the island. The service was quick, and we were seated quickly. The restaurant had a fun vibe. We had a dozen chargrilled oysters, blackened fish bites, and they were delicious! BF had the jambalaya and loved it, and I had the veggie pasta with Cajun Alfredo and shrimp skewer, and it didn't disappoint. The portions were perfect, and we had leftovers.

One of the best NOLA/Cajun restaurants in Southwest Florida. The meals are favorable and the menu had some of the best New Orleans staples. We had the fried shrimp w/ dirty rice and the etouffee and both entrees were delicious. The service was great as well!

Great Island option! Lively atmosphere, multilevel indoor and outdoor dining, spectacular menu filled with all sorts of Cajun delights. We had the pork rind appetizer which was cooked to order and super flavorful, roasted oysters with Parmesan and garlic, which were a solid 10 (definitely coming back for lots more of these), lunch entrées included their Cajun chicken sandwich, which is packed with flavor and served with excellent curvy fries, a huge shrimp Poboy filled with delicious large fresh fried Gulf shrimp and super tasty remoulade sauce.

We weren't sure if the food we ordered was actually made there or not because it all tasted like it was maybe frozen & then reheated/fried. We love Conch Fritters. These were the worst we've had. For us, it was not worth the money. We had just missed the crawfish season, so the etouffee didn't have fresh tails - not their fault. It was fair - very oily as it cooled. The stained glass and artwork decorations made the atmosphere nice.

The clam chowder was our highlight here, everything else food wise was okay. Expected more seasoning and flavor, but the portion size was plentiful. Our server wasn’t our favorite, but the other server working was super helpful many times and personable as well! Excellent service and great variety of food. Our whole family loved it so much we went back the next evening as well and we were lucky enough to get the same server, Carolyn who really knew the menu and could describe all items, as my family likes to ask a lot of questions. All of Carolyn's recommendations were great and tasty. The pictures in this review are from two evenings meals. My kids found the lemonade a bit too sweet but thought the ice tea was perfect. All of the shrimp dishess were great. Tons of menu choices, my daughter loved the seared sushi and I liked the steak sandwich with grilled onions and blue cheese crumbles on garlic bread. The chips and salsa was colourful but the salsa was a bit bland for our taste, we like bit of heat.. Nice atmosphere and plenty of parking, all the staff we talked to were super helpful and friendly, the host Elvin/Alvin (?,) Was very nice. We were always too full to try any desserts . Nice interior, we enjoyed sitting outside on the patio. The place seemed very popular and we would definitely recommend a visit.

I had the Pork and Slaw sandwich and it was absolutely delicious! The pulled pork was perfectly tender and juicy, piled high and dripping with flavor. Topped with creamy slaw and melted cheddar, it struck the perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and savory in every bite. The toasted bun held up beautifully, and the side of fries was golden, crispy, and generously portioned. What really stood out beyond the food was the service. The food was pretty good. My Grandson thought the burger was great. The noise level was crazy. They could really use some sound deadening tiles. You actually had to yell to hear each other. I went to the bathroom and even in the stall you could hear people's conversations because of how loud everyone had to talk.

My husband and I decided to go here while on our last night of vacation because there was an image of garlic knots in the reviews. So we arrive and get seated, order drinks and garlic bread (the only thing on the menu that might resemble the garlic knots from the images), and the worst experience ensues - soda has no syrup, no biggie. I’ll wait for the server to come back around. She circles the restaurant multiple times, continuing to avoid our eye contact. After about 10 minutes, she comes back with the garlic bread. It looks nothing like the garlic knots in the pictures, so I tell her that the soda needs syrup, and ask to replace for a different drink. She rolls her eyes at me, and asks very rudely what I want. Then we proceed to order a pizza, and I ask her if they have anything on the menu that is like garlic knots, because I saw a picture on Google maps. She says rudely that is an old menu item. I explained to her that I really don’t want garlic bread, so she takes it back quickly and turns around, and I ask my husband if he wants to go somewhere else. She rolls her eyes again and says “I think that would be best” very sarcastically. Just don’t go here 😳

Dropped by for Pizza tonight. Service was excellent. Met owner Tom and his wife. Nice big glass of red wine while waiting, Along with interesting conversation. Montreal style pizza. Loaded with toppings. We will be back again next year.

Amazing pizza! The wings are huge and flavorful. The sanibel sauce for the wings is the best sauce I’ve ever had on wings. Very fast service and the owner even gave us some fresh cut aloe from his plant he had growing in there because he noticed our faces were burned.

I have been hearing about this place for years, and many have recommended it to us. Glad we finally got to stop for lunch today on our way back from the beach. There was no wait, which was nice and plenty of close parking. Friendly service. Pizza was very tasty and the crust was nice and thin, crisp, and grease- free. Loved the Islander pizza and unsweetened ice tea.
Beth G — Google review
Not only the best pizza and service on the island but probably the best pizza we’ve ever had. Just know that it’s pretty warm in there due to the large windows and zero insulation in the roof. If you’re in the mood for a quick bite and want to avoid the long waits at the other restaurants, stop in to Island Pizza. You won’t regret it 😬

Lazy Flamingo, located in the heart of Sanibel, is a popular sports pub known for its casual atmosphere and delicious beer-steamed seafood. The restaurant offers a diverse menu that includes mouthwatering breakfast dishes and the best acai bowls in town. Visitors can enjoy sumptuous breakfast sandwiches, delectable Belgian waffles, and various tasty breakfast bowls.
As of March 24, 2025 the physical restaurant is still being rebuilt BUT there is a FOOD TRUCK in the parking lot with a limited menu. Told by my nephew that this food truck food was excellent, on my first visit I ordered the Caesar salad with chicken. Man it did not disappoint! Lots of delicious grilled chicken with an excellent flavor. I will be back!

my husband and i went for lunch after the beach. i was very pleased by our service. everyone was extremely attentive and friendly. shoutout to Bobby! he was very kind and welcoming to us. food was good as well. i got the grilled chicken ceasar salad, and my husband got the fried grouper basket with fries and tartar sauce. we very much enjoyed our lunch here and would go back! they’re doing a great job : )

The restaurant is very welcoming. I am from Miami where kindness is not common, even in places that are service oriented so I delighted to experience the warmth from the staff here. I was a in the mood for fresh grouper and they did not disappoint. It was delicious and worth going back for. I was able to watch the FSU vs Alabama game which was great. I see myself going back next time I am in town. The shrimp was a overcooked but I can work with that.

OPEN FOR BUSINESS! The main restaurant is finally open again and lost none of its charm. The Lazy was always a great Sanibel spot to enjoy cold drinks and a great menu and the new oyster bar should be completed shortly. Can’t wait!

I had a wonderful dining experience at Lazy Flamingo! My family and I visit Sanibel often, and we were excited to learn Lazy Flamingo had reopened. We went on a fishing trip, and our captain had let us know that Lazy Flamingo would prepare our fresh catch for us. They did a wonderful job! We had half our fish fried, and half blackened, and it came with a very generous position of Caesar salad and French fries. The fish came out amazing! The sides were delicious as well and were more than enough to fill us up. The price for the preparation of the fish and sides was incredibly reasonable. I want to book another fishing trip just so I can come back to Lazy Flamingo and have this experience again! The service was also awesome. I wish I had gotten our server’s name. She was so sweet and attentive and was training a young man who was also great. Overall, it was such a fun evening, and I’ll definitely return again soon.

We chose the "Lazy Flamingo" on Sanibel Island for our early dinner today. When we arrived at 3:45 p.m., we were told that the kitchen closes at 4 p.m. Unfortunately, that's not what the website says. Nevertheless, we were still allowed to place our order. The value for money is absolutely fine! Dining for six people for under 100 euros isn't something you'd expect here.

Drove down to Sanibel for no reason. Stopped in at Sanibel Grill before we headed back to Tampa. The oysters were delish. Haven’t had oysters in a while. Had the salad with the cranberries and almonds. Very, very good. Lots of TV’s for the game. Did have to listen to the table in front of us discussing who was the fattest. Honestly, the last thing I wanted to hear. Three or four lovely ladies without an ounce of fat on them, all beautiful and they don’t realize their worth or how others see them. Confidence is extremely sexy, putting yourself down is not. Just putting that out there. Anyway, food was great, beer was great, service good, atmosphere very good. Would dine here again.

We love this place! Food is good. They offer Gluten Free options right on the menu! Oysters are fresh and lots of variety. My favorite items are the Big Bang Shrimp (gluten free) , steamed oysters with lemon butter parmesan and the Crunchy Grouper Rueben. Blue Crab Bisque is awesome!!!! Seating is limited. Dogs allowed outside. Very accommodating. Will bring your dog their own water dish.

Visited in Jan 2022. Just now had time to review. It's a busy place, but the bartender and waitress were still efficient, pleasant, and quick. Food was delicious. I had the bang bang shrimp and piña colada...yum! My husband had the french onion soup which he loved. Will return to this place!

Food had some good and some not so good items.. one item not good was the hamburger which was lacking, it probably would had been good except for the fact it was so undercooked it was mooing.. the drinks were great and going a few times over the last few months you can enjoy the camadrie of the place, as well it isn't so crowded if you go off-season.. after the last very crowded visit, we'll probably not be back til after the crazy in-season rush... But if you do go..go off hours to really enjoy your meal or cocktails.. the young lady that waited on us at the bar was awesome but the hostess needs to take lessons from her for she was not.. otherwise a nice place to go eat, drink and hangout.

Bleu Rendezvous French Bistro is a cozy and inviting restaurant that offers a taste of classic French cuisine in a warm, old-world atmosphere. Run by Chef Christian Vivet and his wife Mari, the bistro features charming interiors reminiscent of a countryside house, with blue and yellow walls adorned with national flags and Eiffel Tower replicas.
Bleu Rendez-Vous is a true gem. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted in French by Laurence, the owner, which immediately set the tone for an authentic and welcoming experience. It truly felt like stepping into a little piece of France. And I should know—I’m French! We started with the escargots, which were perfectly prepared and full of flavor. For the main course, my husband had the steak with truffle fries, and it was phenomenal—cooked to perfection, juicy, and paired beautifully with the crispy, flavorful fries. I had the veal Marengo, which was rich, tender, and well-balanced. Paired with a Pinot Noir, it was an outstanding combination. To finish, we enjoyed Chef Pierre’s chocolate mousse, which was as decadent as it was delicious—the perfect ending to a flawless meal. The service was warm and welcoming, the wine selection was excellent, and the entire experience was nothing short of amazing. If you’re looking for authentic French cuisine in Sanibel, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

Wonderful, charming and very European. I ordered the black grouper (chef’s recommendation), my wife and sister ordered surf & turf and BIL ordered a filet mignon. All excellent. We shared a crepe for dessert. The chef came out several times to chat. We will definitely be back.

This the Classic French restaurant you’re going to share with good friends! We were a group of 10 foodies from various and distinct backgrounds. We did the prefix dinner with wine pairings. Our expectations were high based on what we read about this jem and none was disappointed. The escargot and onion soup were spot on, the trout almondine and Beef Bourguignon were exceptional, but by far the star of the meal was the steak frites. A sublime surprise accompanied by a bordelaise sauce, a side of béarnaise and a small crock of blue cheese sauce shared by the chef! The wine pairings were all from Bordeaux, decanted and beyond excellent. Do not forget to order dessert! I can’t wait for our next rendezvous

Sat at the chefs counter and had an amazing experience. Everything we ate from appetizers, bread, salad, main course and dessert was absolutely delicious. Watch the chefs cook was also very entertaining because they engage with you. We will most definitely be back.

While we supported the previous iteration of Bleu Rendezvous for years, we were pleased to see the new owners, menu, and ambiance is so much better than before! This young Parisian couple who own the restaurant, both of whom have culinary school backgrounds, could not be more welcoming and accommodating. Their revolving menu seems to be devoted to introducing Americans to classic French cuisine, rather than dumbing down to local expectations. Fresh, affordable, quality food at reasonable prices. Authentic food and ambiance. You might think you were in Paris!

Recently tried this and cannot believe I waited so long to eat here! Chef Pierre is excellent! Top notch service by both his wife who was the hostess, and our server who was very pleasant and gave great recommendations! We had 4 different appetizers, and 4 entrees, and it was all SO GOOD! The salmon dip, uhMAZING. I feel like they also need to bottle their lemon thyme butter!!! :) Thank you!!! We will be back!!

We made reservations back in November for a December date, specifically noting we wanted to be seated at a table (Chef’s table was an option). We received a call a couple of days prior to our reservation alerting us that we would not be at a table but would be seated at the Chef’s table. We declined as I had seen in the photos that the Chef’s table did not look very comfortable. We again made reservations when we were back on the island in the spring, again for a table. When we arrived for our reservation, we were greeted by the owner. She immediately asked me if I would do her a “favor”, the favor being sitting a the Chef’s table. I expressed my dissatisfaction, but she said, “come on, it is a favor.” We felt pressured into accepting the Chef’s table, even though there was a vacant table for two. We were seated at the Chef’s table. The stools are very high and very uncomfortable. We asked to be moved, and the owner quickly moved us. Shortly after we were seated another table for two left and that table remained vacant even as we left the restaurant. My guess is she likes to keep the tables open for regulars. I found it very off-putting to be pressured to do a “favor” when I felt dining at this establishment (and hoping to become a regular) was favor enough. While the food was good and the service impeccable, the treatment we received left a bad taste in our mouth. That was our first and last time dining at Bleu Rendezvous.

George & Wendy's Sanibel Seafood Grille is a lively and relaxed American restaurant with a full bar offering draft beer and outdoor seating. The dog-friendly patio is perfect for enjoying a delightful lunch, featuring mouthwatering haddock, shrimp, tuna, or grouper fish tacos accompanied by homemade salsa, pink chili creme fraiche, and taco slaw. Additionally, the diverse menu caters to both seafood lovers and non-seafood enthusiasts.
We arrived early for lunch. Not so busy at that moment. The food is incredible. The Lobster tail Caprese salad was outstanding. The tuna salad was amazing. It's the best salad I've ever had in Florida so far. Maybe it's because I love the Asian fusion. Definitely will come back again next time.

This is definitely a drinking place. Service is ok. Food is at par but the scallops were very good that day. Calamari can be improved. We should have skipped the grouper bites. Chicken wings with lemon pepper rubs were good.

Reservations for 6:30. Arrived and immediately seated. Restaurant not overly packed but steady. Greeted by our waitress, Marie. Wonderful person and gave us several suggestions. Settled in for peal and eat shrimp and seared ahi tuna as appetizers. Very good. Complimentary warm bread and dip. Dinner consisted a couple entrees- first their grilled seafood platter, 3 shrimp, 3 scallops and lobster tail. It was served with a mushroom risotto. Simply amazing. Second, 12oz prime rib smashed potatoes and salad, also delicious. Rounding out third was the bacon wrapped scallops, mushroom risotto and salad. All three could not have been any better. This was my first visit and I loved every thing about my experience but.....the bar is directly adjacent to the inside dining area. At the bar they had live music, loud amplified music with singing. This did nothing but echo throughout. It actually became quite annoying as the play list continued. Absent the impromptu concert, which wasn't happening during appetizers, this was a fabulous dining experience and I would have given 5 stars. I'd definitely return but probably just not when the band is playing.

Nicely done, George & Wendy! My wife and I have been coming to Sanibel for years and often wanted to try this place. I ordered the cod-bites as a happy-hour Tapas appetizer. The bites were well-presented, seasoned and plentiful. My wife ordered the cauliflower-crusted veggie flatbread. I ordered the local grouper that’s worth writing about, while my wife had the Chicken Piccata. Melissa our server was sweet and attentive. I topped my meal off with the Key-lime pie (as always) that was fresh and delicious, and put a smile on my face :-)
Fred D — Google review
For the price, I’m sorry to say, this place was disappointing. Starting with the positives, our waitress was wonderful and we did not have a long wait. The bread that came before the meal was delicious, warm soft and crusty, by far the best part of the meal. The seafood itself was fine, nothing to write home about, but steamed broccoli and rice on the side? With both dishes? Surely for the price they could come up with a little bit more of an adventurous side to complement the entrée. I was also disappointed in the ambience, dark, dreary, dated, and too quiet. The social distancing was so far to the point that we were a good 15 feet from the next diners, leaving us to feel very isolated. Overall, ok but not amazing.

SENSATIONAL FOOD! 100% perfect. We had a party of seven, and called ahead for reservations. They had it ready when we arrived. The food was on the level of a fine dining establishment, but the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming! Our waitress was an absolutely charming Michigander. We ordered the roasted garlic and Brie, and the calamari for starters and they were ON POINT! And the bread with pesto dip…simply stellar. The salads were incredibly fresh, cold, and perfect. The drunken grouper was a hit with my husband and son. I had the Grouper Francaise. Normally, I get photos of all of the food…but I legitimately forgot, and decided the best review would be the EMPTY PLATES!! I wish I could steal the chefs. If you visit anywhere close to Sanibel…make time for this establishment.

Stopped for a late lunch and although was busy our service and food were excellent. Ordered the cob salad and added broiled cod. My husband ordered the broiled cod with black beans and rice and steamed broccoli. Ample portions and cod was cooked to perfection. There is a large parking lot that accommodated our oversized van easily. Several campers also parked in lot.

The Bubble Room Restaurant on Captiva Island is a quirky and unique dining spot known for its Christmas decorations and kitschy decor. While it doesn't offer outdoor seating, it's a fun experience for both adults and kids. The restaurant is famous for its American eats and delicious desserts, including their renowned Key lime pie with various crust options and whipped cream. Although the Bubble Room gets a lot of attention, there are other casual restaurants in the area that also serve delectable Key lime pies to go.
This is a very fun and charming place. Get there early as the seating can fill up quickly. Constance our bubble scout (server), did amazing considering she was new. Food was exceptional. Be sure to save room for dessert at the end. It is definitely the cherry on top of this experience.

The Bubble Room is the place to go anytime you visit Florida. It's a super cool restaurant with thousands of knick knacks and lights to look at inside. It's always Christmas for the theme and has a crazy carnival room on the third floor, so there is a little bit of everything for everyone. The food is pretty tasty but nothing crazy. Their cakes are the best thing to get here. You will fall in love with all their creamy and fresh made cakes. I went on a Friday night and it was very easy to find free parking right next to the restaurant.

What a fun experience! It’s a long way from the bridge. If you’re going to the island for a beach day I recommend for lunch or dinner. The dessert portions are HUGE and can easily feed two. My friend order the Key Lime Pie and it was GOOD, which was surprising, since I’m picky with it. Just the right amount of tart and sweetness. 👌

This is a Florida institution! And sometimes you get to these and leave, knowing that the hype was not worth it, BUT... This restaurant has it all, the hype, the history and really good food. I mean really good. The servers are something else too. And the cake... Just go if you are in the area and get a slice of history with your cake. And everything else on the menu that's made with stunning flavours and a chef that's passionate about good food.

Festive atmosphere..fun to look at all the pictures & knick knacks. It took a while to get our order, but the food was fine. Nice touristy spot with several food options. Took a piece of the orange crunch cake to go. It had a bit of a fake orange taste, but was pretty moist & large slice.

The Bubble Room Restaurant First of all, this place is so Quirky you just have to stop by to take in the total experience. Every room inside has a different theme and there are a lot of rooms in this restaurant. We got seated in the Christmas Room which had a lot of Christmas decorations and old-time photos up on the walls. This place was neat and kind of organized chaos going on in each room but that what makes it unique. Our waiter or Bubble Scout as they want to be called was on the ball with our drinks and food orders his name was Britt. I ordered a Beer, and my wife ordered a Kahlua and Cream. Both drinks were cold and good. They place a basket of Bubble Bread on out table which was good. I ordered a bowl of She Crab Soup for an appetizer. The Soup was very good and lots of Crab in it. For our main orders we both got the Captains Courageous which had Grilled Salmon with Hoisin Sauce, 3 Coconut Shrimp, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Sweet Chili Sauce for Dipping plus Mixed Veggies and Twice Baked Potato with Cheese. Our main order came out fast and the Salmon was grilled to perfection and the Hoisin Sauce kicked it up a notch it was very good. The Twice Baked Potato was not that good it tasted like it was reheated and did not have much flavor. The Mixed Veggies were just ok. Britt stopped by many times to check on us and to see if we needed anything. I ordered a Red Velvet Cake for Dessert, and it was huge piece of Cake. I bet 3 people could had eaten that. It was ok. I would say stop here at least for the quirkiness. I give this place 4 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Follow Me On FB For More Reviews & Fun Gulf Coast Terry

The Bubble Room is a Florida classic — quirky, nostalgic, and full of personality from the moment you walk in. Every room tells a story, with vintage memorabilia, twinkling lights, and over-the-top charm that makes the dining experience feel like stepping into another world. The food is hearty and fun, but the real showstopper is the dessert. Their cakes are legendary for a reason — oversized, indulgent, and absolutely worth the hype. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or coming back for a dose of whimsy, The Bubble Room is pure old-Florida magic.

The Mucky Duck restaurant, located in downtown Captiva, offers a laid-back atmosphere with stunning sunset views over the sea. This well-known dining spot provides a fun and rustic environment to enjoy American eats paired with cold brews. Originally opened in 1975 as a place to savor drinks and watch the sunset, it has evolved into a popular destination for enjoying fresh seafood while taking in breathtaking Gulf of Mexico sunsets.
Very well known and a must visit. You can eat outside or inside, there is access to the beach and rocking chairs that face the water. Great food, the atmosphere was right up my alley! The water tasted like from the tap, but I was able to order bottled water. We ate around 2pm and we had no problem finding parking. Prices were not bad at all!

Love this spot. Overlooks a beautiful beach you can swim at. Has outdoor seating that's self service, so you don't have to wait. Expect a wait for indoor service &/or make a reservation. Also parking is awful here, it's very small & always backed up. Get dropped off if you can! Fun & quirky place with good food & usually good service.

Cool place with cool vibes and fantastic beach side setting. Fairly pricey for the quality of food. One very odd thing was that the waiters don't serve water. It is self serve out of a container into small throw away cups. I would go back because of the atmosphere but the water thing sucks!
Chad W — Google review
Everything about our visit to Mucky Duck turned out great. They have a great location with a marvelous view of the Gulf of Mexico and serve up great meals that the whole family loved. Their crunchy grouper sandwich and seafood pastas from the Specials Board today were excellent. We were concerned when we pulled in about finding parking, but there was an attendant whose job was to keep the non-customers from using their lot and showed me a place I could park that I would have assumed was too small because it was on the end. Parking border the beach itself, so without the attendant, beachgoers may try parking here. My car fit, so we parked and went in. The inside was small too but we got a table without waiting. We ordered and were served by a friendly and efficient waitress. She checked in with us frequently as we dined and kept our drinks filled. A tip for those who visit that are taller than 6'2 or so - Watch Your Head while walking through the place, many ceilings are very low for tall folk! Also, check out the place's history by looking at the walls, ceiling and menu, and find the reason some call it the Lucky Duck. It's a remarkable story. We plan to return to Mucky Duck. It seems to be the type of place where everything on the menu is really good.

Made many visits here during our trip last week! We loved walking up from the beach and getting a drink and snack at the inside bar, as well as riding our bikes up and watching the sunset from their patio (also for a drink from the crew at the inside bar) They have great appetizers and even better bartenders. Definitely stop by if you’re on the island.

Great beachside vibe. We sat at tables with wait staff on the patio. Apparently they also have picnic tables in the sand for people who order inside and then have names called to get food. There’s also a bar on the patio. Our server was very friendly and attentive. They had some local Florida brews on tap which was nice. We had four people in our party and two people ordered salads and two people ordered fish and chips. The salad was fresh and the fish and chips were fine. The shrimp bisque was very good! Parking: there is a small parking lot and they are very diligent about watching where people park; they do not want you parking for the beach in their Restaurant parking lot. Our group chose to park at a parking lot at the end of the road and then walked the beach back to the restaurant ( 3 minute walk).

Had the best time yesterday at the Mucky Duck! My friend had never been there before so I took her to lunch. She had shrimp tacos and I had the pub burger. The food was delicious! We topped it off with the most amazing chocolate layer cake!! The service was just perfect and made lunch even more special! We got to go cups for our drinks and sat in the rocking chairs looking at the gulf before we drove back home!

The restaurant recently debuted as a remodeled Sanibel classic with a spacious sports bar featuring 13 TVs, creating a comfortable setting for families to enjoy. Located on Sanibel Island, the cheerful building in the commercial district adds to its inviting ambiance.
I LOVED THIS PLACE! FOOD WAS EXCELLENT! AS WAS THE SERVICE! Prices were very fair with big portions. Shakes Burgers Onion rings and Fries all exceptional. The atmosphere is very nice as well. Has an old corvette and some neon signs. They also have a Big burger challenge. The whole restaurant was very clean especially the restrooms.

Exceptional customer service (even though they were swamped) He refilled our drinks before asking, cleared the table timely. Very friendly server. The loaded cheese fries were the best we have ever had and we have had many! The cheese sauce was amazing. The burgers were huge and tasted great. The onion rings were house made and delicious. The shakes are the old fashioned kind with rich, thick, creamy whipped cream. The Sundays are good too. The theme is fun and they have a cheeseburger challenge if you are feeling brave.

Great atmosphere and location on the island. Fun place to admire the decorations. The food was so fulfilling that I didn’t get save room for a famous milkshake. The lunchtime bar tender was not very personal or friendly but did the job. The food was good and sauces are amazing.
Mary H — Google review
I like how roomy it is here and you can have a normal conversation. It’s decorated nicely. Food is reasonably priced and you get nice portions. The grouper sandwich is a set price and delicious. Service is great. One of my favorite places to dine on the island.

Definitely one of our favorite restaurants on the island and we look forward to eating here Every year when we come down for vacation. The foods amazing and it’s a great atmosphere! The only negative is that they’ve now instituted a strict “no adults can order a kids meal” policy which is a let down because a lot of times people want to stop in and eat but not order (and pay for) an adult, full size meal so unless that changes, we’ll have to factor that in to our lunch/dinner location choices. 😊🍔
JAY 0 — Google review
Great spot! Large and roomy space which is decorated with a collection of retro diner furnishings, decor and artwork. I give their classic burger high marks, a solid 9! The burger bun is exceptional as are the fries. If their ground beef was better quality they would get a 10.
Gregory R — Google review
The food was good, but nothing spectacular. Burgers built how you like. I got chicken tacos and they had very little chicken and were mostly lettuce. But the sauce and chicken was good. I asked for extra sauce and made a salad. lol. The kids all got shakes and they were great. Burgers don’t come with fries and for the price I think they should, but still not a bad deal.

One of the coolest diner designs. The food was amazing. Definitely the best burger and onion rings I have had in a long time. Our server was amazing.

Sanibel Fish House has been a staple in Southwest Florida for two decades, earning prestigious awards in 2015, 2017, and 2018. The family-friendly restaurant offers a casual dining experience with a diverse menu featuring locally caught seafood like mahi, salmon, tuna, grouper, and even fried lobster tacos. In addition to seafood, they also offer options like beef and chicken. The relaxed atmosphere makes it suitable for all ages.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our dinners here! There's a large bar area separate from the dining area, so that's a plus. The decor is nice and really gives a nice beach vibe. I had the king crab - not only was the portion very large, but it was cooked perfectly! Highly recommend for a wonderful meal!

The broiled stuffed grouper, fried fish combo, broiled stuffed shrimp and peanut butter pie. Mojito and lime and coconut. All of it was great. Service was very quick and friendly.

Gotta come back here to try some other dishes. Johnathan our server was helpful. I appreciated the recommendation to get the fish tacos they were good and huge. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Man o Man the cups are humongous seriously i almost wanted to make a straw long enough so i didn't have to pick up that cup. For the Root Beer drinkers they have Barq's Root beer. Check out the picture of what we had. Details in the pictures. ** i can not believe i didn't take a picture of my Fish Tacos. They were seriously a huge piece of fine in each taco.

Coconut shrimp was phenomenal as usual... sweet potato fries or regular, you won't go wrong. House made ginger dipping sauce is to die for. Grouper basket is great. The key lime pie is definitely where it's at!! Same room for it or take a slice to-go!!

Wonderful Spring afternoon spent at the Sanibel Fish House. The adult beverages were flavorful, large and fairly priced. We were craving a good smoked fish dip and this did not disappoint. The Crunchy Grouper Rubin is a Florida Standard and this was perfectly made. The surprise was the Tuna Melt made from Ahi Tuna, wow. I will be returning soon

We had a great dinner here! Penny was our server, she made some great suggestions, took care of us when an ordered drink came late and was just overall one of the best servers we've had on our trip to Sanibel. As good as Penny was the food was even better! And the prices were among the least expensive for what we ordered. We had conch fritters for an appetizer, stuffed shrimp and blackened grouper. Definitely will be back next time we're in Sanibel!

Had a wonderful dinner at the Sanibel Fish House. My wife and I started out with some tasty bloody Mary's(the spicy ones). My daughter had the snow crab legs which were cooked very well. My wife enjoyed the crab meat stuffed shrimp which were delicious, and I had the coconut shrimp, some of the best I've ever had. We finished it off with a key lime pie stuff cheese cake, yummy!! Nice atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, all at a reasonable price. Will definitely plan a visit here again the next time we vacation in Sanibel which will hopefully be in a year!

We got a take out from here and it was on of the best oysters ive had. I do like the food but its a little expensive for this much. I expected more, especially the fish. And i like that the staff wore masks.

The restaurant features beautiful views of the beach and offers upscale options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Perfect for couples looking to avoid long wait times or advanced reservations, Sunset Grill is a hidden gem you don't want to miss when visiting Sanibel Island.
Absolutely excellent food here along with dessert options. Half chicken was so juicy and the grouper melted in my mouth with the mango salsa.... Try the key lime pie and the apple crisp, you won't be disappointed! Great comfort food. And the view at sunset is breathtaking.

We love Sunset Grill! Especially breakfast, so calming and relaxing. Sit on the porch and watch the waves crash across the street. The entire feel here is so calming.... not such a hustle an bustle like some other breakfast eateries. We have enjoyed many meals here, but finally got a review up. Highly recommend!!
Jason O — Google review
This may have been the best meal we have had! We are pretty picky and everything was amazing from the beef carpaccio appetizer, to the sunset grouper, to the Apple Crisp, and even the coffee! Just beautiful clean food with a view of the gulf! Thank you for a delicious meal! We will be back for breakfast!
Barbara M — Google review
This was one of favorite restaurant in the island! We had delicious meals with fresh fish, lobster, & scallops! The waitress was polite and efficient. The only complaint is we were EATEN ALIVE by the no-see-ems. If you haven’t heard, they are gnat-like bugs that you don’t see or feel until it’s too late. The notes are itchier than mosquitoes. Supposedly baby oil works well to prevent them from latching, (don’t apply during the day, you’ll get a sunburn) around sunset and later. Bug spray didn’t help much.
Anastasia P — Google review
Had an early morning breakfast here recently and loved it. Sat outside where you can easily see the water across the road. The service was very friendly and efficient. The food tasted great. Be sure to try the key lime French toast. It has a nice taste of key lime without being over powering or overly sweet. It’s just right. I could have eaten two plates full! Highly recommend.

Sunset Grille is a must taste! Absolutely loved everything they had to offer. I went with a few ladies to have brunch and we were all overwhelmed in the BEST possible way. The food was incredibly delicious. When I’m Captiva, this is definitely a must-go!

What a cool layed back place with great food. The shrimp and crab bisque was amazing. The baked Lobster Fra Diavalo was out of this world. If you ever make it there ask for Carlos, hands down the best host we have ever had.

Step one... park Step two... enter Step three... make up your mind and order... because everything you can order is excellent. Step four... indulge in the amazing seafood Step five... unbutton your pants and waddle on over to the beach across the street and enjoy the sunset. Bravo to the staff and chef! Food was top-notch. Our gigantic coconut shrimp, crab cakes, grilled grouper, and salmon were as if we caught them ourselves just minutes earlier. Our waiter was an outright professional - unexpected from such a seemingly-casual establishment. He truly took pride in his work. Overall, for having such great dishes with a view of the ocean, I couldn't have asked for more.

Great White Grill is a lively sports-themed pizzeria located in Sanibel, Florida. It offers a variety of creative pizzas, pasta dishes, sandwiches, and draft beers. The restaurant boasts the largest beer selection on the island and is known for its hand-made pizzas and Pittsburgh-style sandwiches. As a Steelers bar, it features an array of memorabilia and screens every NFL game on its big screen TVs. Despite offering only beer and wine, it's a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.
Absolutely love this place! BEST EVER PIZZA! Salads great, but pizza - WOAH, fabulous. Comfortable sports bar vibe, usually busy. Hesitated to post this as don’t want it to be even busier, lol! Sanibel FAB!
Ann T — Google review
Looking for something a bit different tonight my wife and I visited to order a Large Cheese Bacon Green Pepper and Onion pizza, to dine in. When we entered the place was empty, but quite literally immediately after we were seated the place (maybe 7 tables, and 6 counter seats) filled up in 10 minutes. Our server, who did not avail us of her name was a blonde woman, maybe 27-34 years old , serving alone. She was busier than a one-armed wallpaper hanger and holding her own very well. The pizza was served very quickly and came out hot, fresh, and delicious by Island standards (compared to the trash they sell at Island Pizza), and could even be called GOOD in big pizza areas like NYC, Buffalo, Detroit, NJ, and Chicago. A few drawbacks from this evening. 1. The building (if equipped) needs an AC re-charge, or something else. It was HOT! (Ovens and overcrowding, probably caused this) 2. The table of 2 women and 2 young children behind us were AWFUL. The kids were hot, they were hungry, and they were NOT quiet. Their awful parents did nothing to mitigate this. If I acted as those children did, at that age, I wouldn’t be here to write this review. 3. Their soda machine had apparently pooped the bed. They only had water or alcohol to drink. What self-respecting restaurant doesn’t have sweet tea in the South? Get with the times or go to the store and buy canned soda, and charge a couple bucks a can to customers until your machine is back in order. 4. They bring a weird unbalanced table prop thing that the pizza rests on, (or is supposed to rest on), but it was not ideal, because of how unbalanced it was. The Food and Service and PRICING were AMAZING! The atmosphere was definitely NOT…(tonight). 28-May-2024

The waitress was extremely friendly and very helpful. The beer was cold and so was the water. The pizza was delicious and so big we took home more than we ate.

Not sure what else is on the menu, but pizza here is great. Great traditional style pizza with good flavor. 5 star rating for two visits- good consistent pizza produced. Nice job. Would normally share pic of food prior to consuming, but was an afterthought here. So sorry, just partial pic of last tasty slice that was reheated at home. Good stuff. Like every place around holidays, and following hurricane, staffing limited, so service may not be at it's best with bit of wait time, but they still put out a great pizza.

Great food ended up eating there three times and each visit was great. Pizza loaded fries and the ba fish sandwich were all great. Beer was cold and the owner was easy to talk to and very engaging. Only minor issue was it is a Steelers place and could not get a Who Dey. Really enjoyed dining there

The Jac was such an amazing experience. My wife and I order the filet mignon and it was absolutely perfect! To top it off, they had the best key lime tart I've ever had. It is definitely a bit pricey, but absolutely worth the trip and I'd recommend it to anyone that's interested!

Those place was pretty good. We went here with family and it had something for everyone, even our two vegan diners. Happy hour specials at the bar run until 6 and are cheap. Would definitely come here again, I'd like to check out the live music in the back bar.

Sorry, this is all that's left of the Key Lime Torte that we shared, and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD!! (The Jacaranda, the restaurant which was formerly in this very location, did not have such good Key lime pie.) We ordered the house salad, clam chowder, and the shrimp & scallop scampi. That dish was almost a cioppino with shrimp & scallops. Delicious broth loaded with delicious saffron. I would come back here in a heartbeat. Our server was also very friendly and efficient.
Jeanie B — Google review
Great food. Nice service. Good selections. What's not to like.
Rich P — Google review
We tried The Jac yesterday. The service was very good, the Calamari was delicious, the place was very clean and nicely decorated. We ordered kids hamburger and chicken fingers. Chicken fingers were wonderful. The hamburger came out very undercooked and they replaced it with a new one. Wife and I ordered the seafood risotto and the Asian salad. Our meals took a long time to make it to the table and were a bit bland. The shrimp and scallops in the seafood risotto were perfectly cooked. Overall we expected better food for the price. They attempted some ambitions recipes but in our opinion didn’t deliver.

Captain's Burger with fries was phenomenal. Everyone's food was delicious. Bartender was great. Good times!
Robert M — Google review
Great place with excellent happy hour appetizers. The decor was a fresh yet rustic, beachy vibe. The atmosphere was okay. The food was the star. We ordered Conch Fritter and Cheese Fry appetizers. Both were great. The fritters were probably the best I have ever had, perfectly crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy inside with tender conch. For dinner we had a Cilantro Lime Chicken Salad and Mandarin Rum Chicken. The salad was wonderful after a long, hot day on the beach. It had huge flavor in large portions. The Mandarin Chicken was delicious. The chicken was expertly cooked in an awesome sauce with crisp, fresh vegetables. Our server was great. The only negative was a slower service with few patrons in house.
Matt S — Google review
We ate here this evening and it was a wonderful experience start to finish. The owner was lovely and came to our table and talked with us and entertained my children. Our waiter, Cooper, was lovely, kind, and entertaining. It is always great to go to a restaurant and rather than sigh at the fact that there are two kids, everyone was very personable to them. I had the short ribs and they were delicious (though too huge to finish 😊) and my mother had the fish which she said was lovely. And the key lime tart was amazing!! Thank you for a wonderful experience and delicious food!

Our waitresses were so nice, I remember our primary waitresses name was Cece. We were a bigger party so we saw a couple different servers. We ordered drinks, appetizers, wine and dessert. For appetizers I tried the prosciutto and burrata and that was very good. For my meal, I had the blackened salmon, which was a bigger serving and I was able to share. My boyfriend got the steak and potatoes, which was delicious, but a smaller serving. The plating was gorgeous and we all left so happy. Although, as one can see from the pictures, the lighting on the porch could probably be a bit brighter, but that didn’t really bother us.

Love the outdoor seating option and the live music from RC Otters. Service was exceptional and food was delicious. Beka W — Google review
Went for nigiri sushi and sushi roles around 5:30 on a Thursday. Were seated promptly and ordered drinks, sushi and edamame. The edamame was well salted but over cooked. The sushi was fresh but the cuts of fish were poorly prepared. The presentation of the sushi rolls was good. The food is pricey relative to quality (resort food usually is). The teppanyaki tables seemed to be having a good time. The view of the Gulf is unrivaled on Sanibel while dining. It's a little better than supermarket or gas station sushi and is the only sushi bar on the Island. There is also a mandatory 22% gratuity automatically added to the bill.
Andy D — Google review
The food was amazing and the service was great. Our cook Laysel was extremely entertaining and interactive with us throughout our dinner. We went to Shima as part of our honey moon and my wife and I were sat instantly at our own table as soon as we arrived. The server took our drink and food order as soon as we sat down and checked on us frequently. Laysel was really great, he told good stories, made the cooking experience fun and funny and even let us try our hand at cracking some eggs for our meal. We will definitely be coming back and we hope we get Laysel again he truly made it all the better.

Today was my 70th birthday. Decided to spend the weekend at Sundial and take my family to dinner at Shima. I booked the table over a week in advance.. Disaster. table was over booked so three of my group were not even around the table. The hostess seated us, but only five were actually around the hibachi table.. MANAGER rude, Hostess rude, in short never made it past seating. Awful. LEFT and went to Timbers and had a wonderful night. I had made a reservation . Confirmed reservation by phone , even spoke with front desk, banquet manager, and chef concerning menu, but manager and hostess claimed I did not.. I then went to front desk to verify and they came to manager to confirm, but he continued to make a scene that he was not informed. Needless to say, the mood was not celebratory and my grandchildren were crying. Worst customer service.

Rosalita's Cantina Sanibel is a vibrant Tex-Mex restaurant that opened in March at a mid-island location. The cheerful setting offers creative Tex-Mex dishes and specialty margaritas, making it a must-visit spot on Sanibel Island. Customers rave about the generous portions of chicken fajitas served with fresh guacamole, pico de gallo, refried beans, and rice.
This food was so good. And a service was amazing. I haven’t had good Mexican food in several years because of where I live. And I was really blown away by the food here. I went for lunch on a Thursday approximately 2 o’clock. The chips and salsa were delicious they were exactly what I was expecting. I liked on the menu that they had to build your own combo and I was able to get like a beef burrito and some flautas. The flautas were so so but the beef burrito was really good. I was so full. I didn’t even finish everything and my fullness lasted me all day. I didn’t even really need to eat dinner. The prices were excellent. In my opinion. The portions were great. The chips and salsa were excellent. The server was super sweet. I made her laugh a bit because I was probably scarfing down my food like an animal because it was so good and I hadn’t had good Mexican food in several years. This is definitely going to be a stop. I make every time I am in the area.

Stopped in for a late dinner after a relaxing beach day. We loved the food, the atmosphere...but did not enjoy being rushed and pressured to eat quickly and leave by a certain time by who I assume was the manager. I'd come back for the food, but would hope for better service next time.

We stopped in for a couple of margaritas around lunchtime on a weekday which are excellent! We were pleasantly surprised. The only thing we ate there were the chips and salsa. Salsa was a bit spicy andwas great and you can tell it’s homemade. They have a happy hour 3–5 P but we did not get to try this time! Excellent service! And the restaurant is clean and nice. Very spacious.

Very cute well decorated restaurant. Good selection of food and drinks. My street tacos had a lot of yummy white fish but only fresh chopped cabbage, not much other toppings. Margaritas were good. Chips were very good, light and crunchy! I would give this restaurant another visit and try something else:).

Excellent food and excellent service. The chips and salsa were awesome. The drinks were great! The guac was even better!!! Everyone in our party of 8 loved their meal. We will 100% be back

I must say this was by far the worst place I visited during my one week stay in Florida. The host is a tall bald man who was immediately rude. It was an hour till close and he made sure that our party knew the eatery was closing in an hour. During the last 15 minutes he started blasting the song “closing time” over the loud speaker when multiple tables were full. It was a Friday night. I’ve worked and continue to work in the service industry and would never ever treat my paying patrons in this manner. The food was mediocre. You can find better Mexican food elsewhere. The guacamole was flavorless and it’s not made table side. Don’t order it. Margaritas are mostly ice. Mediocre food with horrible service. The pictures alone speak volumes. Never again.
Rachel — Google review
What a great experience! Our waiter (with the name of a recent hurricane 😬) was wonderful from start to finish. We started with chips, salsa and guacamole. For our dinner the birria tacos were absolute perfection. The chicken chimichanga was delicious. The shrimp streat tacos were great as was the beef fajita! House margs were enjoyed by all! 10 out of 10!
Michael D — Google review
Loved our meals and the waiter was great. The decor is nice but sitting at the table and looking a the cool lighting wasn’t cool…The unique, squiggly lights above the booths along the perimeter, need to be cleaned!!!! Cobwebs and LOTS of dust. Rather unappetizing. We were there on September 20th, 2025.

Wickies Lighthouse Restaurant is a new dining spot with a stunning sunset view and an enticing menu featuring fresh seafood. The Crispy Calamari and Grilled Octopus are popular starters, while the Atlantic Salmon and Stuffed Flounder are among the favorite entrees. The restaurant also offers a variety of drinks from their superb bar.
This place is arguably the best restaurant on the island. The food was incredible, the Braised short rib sauce was so rich, and I don't love coconut risotto but this one was exceptional. My wife had the grouper and she said it was delicious, my sister had the shrimp stuffed with crab and they were excellent, finally my brother in law had the NY strip steak and he wasn't even that hungry but he ate the entire thing. Do not skip on the cheesecake, you'll thank me later

A lovely spot for breakfast — not easy to find around here. They serve great healthy options like avocado toast and quinoa salad. The outdoor area feels perfect, calm, and relaxing. It gets a bit busier after 10 a.m., but the staff are always friendly, polite, and genuinely pleasant.

Went here for the first time today – it definitely won’t be the last time we go back. This place is very good. It’s a small little place and very quaint. I briefly spoke to the owner because I was so happy with the place and he was very friendly and you could tell he took pride in his restaurant. We had a server who was training boy you sure wouldn’t know it. She gave great service such great service. We gave her a fantastic tip because she deserved It. The food is very, very good and look at the pictures. You’ll see an example of it. I had traditional Benedict and I am a Benedict fan and it was a very good Benedict.

Honestly, so much to say in so little space. The fact that Wickies exists brings so much joy to me. Amazing food ✅ Fine dining plating ✅ service that makes you feel like home ✅ Nostalgia ✅✅✅ They get fresh grouper/ fish daily, and the taste is evident. Their coctails are funky and made with love. The food is so clean and fresh. If you miss the Mad Hatter and the Island cow - if you miss a great dining experience and feeling at home - make sure you stop by. All the same folks are still here.

What a surprise this little gem of a resturant is! This chef is making his mark with the most delicious food and presentation. The staff are genuinely happy and joyful and go to many lengths to please. Thank you all for the wonderful evening. Don't miss this one!!

We tried Wickies based on other reviews and we’re so glad we did! Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was great. Our server, Samantha, made us feel so welcome. We ordered fish tacos and the grouper sandwich. Both hot, fresh, and delicious. We also ordered both regular and sweet potatoes fries. If more than one person is getting fries, try both and share. You won’t be disappointed. We’re looking forward to coming back and trying more! The restaurant isn’t super big and it’s easy to see it being very busy in season. If you want to be sure to get a table, we definitely recommend calling them for reservations.

My mom and I came for dinner tonight and everything was delicious. We had the coconut shrimp app, lobster cargot, and the fried green tomato. We had 2 awesome cocktails. Our waiter Bobby was the best, very attentive, and fun personality. We can’t wait to come back to try the famous cheesecake!
Bobby D — Google review
Our waitress Robin was wonderful. She informed us that the owners of Island cow and Mad Hatter joined to bring this lovely restaurant to life. The chef worked at the Mad Hatter for 13 years and a lot of the menu items are incorporated. Everything was excellent, from the service to the food. We ordered the Fried Green tomatoes with goat cheese and they were delicious, everything complimented eachother. Main course was the Black grouper over mashed potatoes with green beans, capers and a buttery sauce. One of the best fish dishes I’ve had. It has a light crunch and melt in your mouth. The Mad Hatter cheesecake was a perfect finish. One of the best cheesecakes I’ve had in the area. Great texture and presentation. I highly recommend this hidden gem.

Located at 'Tween Waters Inn, The Shipyard is a casual and enduring eatery offering seafood, steaks, and entertainment such as hermit crab races and live music. Following a storm, the resort's Old Captiva House reopened in its original space while the Crows Nest restaurant transformed into The Shipyard. Additionally, the elevated Crows Nest Steakhouse was introduced to provide a sophisticated dining experience with panoramic beach views.
Really cool vibe that’s “off the beaten path”. A little pricey but it comes with the territory for its location. Great menu that fits all palettes. Drinks were good and beer was cold. This is a great place to get a late reservation then walk across the street for sunset. Key lime pie was amazing🍋‍🟩

We absolutely loved this restaurant. The food was amazing. The service (Nick) was great and the view/atmosphere was second to none. The prices are a little up there but we found the portions to be large and everything we ordered tasted great so all that combined with the view; we felt it was worth it. Whether you’re staying at Tween Waters or not, make sure to stop by The Shipyard for dinner and catch an amazing sunset! Just make sure to make reservations prior so you can avoid a wait. 😊🏖️

Visited this restaurant for breakfast and dinner while staying at Tween Waters. I honestly was not expecting too much, but I was pleasantly surprised by the food options, taste, and service. The highlight for me was the pulled pork sandwich. It did not taste like your typical frozen out of a bag pulled pork, this one tasted fresh and really good BBQ flavor. The fries that came with it were also delicious. For breakfast, I had the chorizo omelet, and that one was really good as well. Overall, I have no complaints and look forward to returning.

The calamari was tasty and the portions were big. The onion rings were very good. The salmon and the grouper was great. Great food and great atmosphere. What else can you ask for?
Yoshitaka K — Google review
Service is good, nice, somewhat attentive. Meatloaf drenched in below par marinara. Grouper also overdrenched, too sweet, not sure if rice was attempted to be cooked or just thrown raw on the plate. Breakfast ok, potatoes lukewarm, bacon cooked 3 hours before.
Laura S — Google review
It was good the appetizers are huge. Good for a big table. We ordered calamari and queso Blanco with chips. It was about a pound of calamari and a cast iron pan full of queso. The queso was good, but it was not queso blanco. We were full when our entrees came so we took them home. My husband ordered the burger, and I ordered the Korean BBQ sandwich. Comes with fries, homemade BBQ chips, or pineapple slaw. We ate them the next day. It was not the healthiest food, but it was good. We had a nice time.
Galaxy 1 — Google review
I ordered the steak. My wife ordered some type of wrap with Caribbean rice. Our server was very, very nice. Her meal was a hot mess and barely ate any of it. My steak came out so overdone that there was not a bit of pain left in it. I returned it. It came out raw as soon as I cut it the manager took it back and brought me another one. Upon arrival of the third one, the manager said hopefully three times there’s a charm. The steak was OK, but I think they brought me the same siides as what I had on the first plate. The fries were cold and soggy, and the vegetable medley was once again a cold mess. I understand things happen and I’m very understanding about it. However, the manager never seem to care and never once said he was sorry. It wasn’t the cheapest meal in the world so I do expect some type of courtesy.. The place was empty and I could see why.
James M — Google review
Food was better than we were expecting. Meals were reasonably priced and very tasty with large portions. The staff was very kind. There's a good view of the sunset on the beach. The crab cakes were especially our favorite. Breakfast here was also very nice, with really good coffee. Their desserts were also amazing, especially the kelime pie.

Nestled within Baileys General Store, The Sanibel Sprout is a charming eatery and market that caters to both vegans and non-vegans alike. This delightful spot offers an array of elevated vegan dishes alongside refreshing juices, smoothies, and lattes. Guests can indulge in hearty options like black bean burgers or Thai spring rolls, as well as comforting coconut Indian curry soup and a chilled vegan berry lemon pie for dessert.
I was thrilled to find out that Sanibel Sprout is rebuilding their storefront and utilizing a food truck in the meantime. It's fantastic to be able to find healthy, vegan food on the island. Their food is delicious and they offer creative, fresh options for folks who want something other than fried fish. The acai bowls are beautiful and filling. I'm so glad they exist and are working to come back in full force after Ian!

Hands down best coffee on the island! Iced mocha and iced vanilla latte were superb. Also got the avocado toast… fresh and delicious! Highly recommend!

Very cozy cafe offering a variety of both vegetarian and vegan food and drink options. Ordered the Veggie Burger, Iced Pumpkin Chai Latte, and vegan Chocolate Chip cookie while my partner had the Yogurt Bowl with almond butter and maple syrup and a Morning Mango smoothie. All of items ordered were delicious and my burger was especially tasty. If you’re looking for a more laid back and peaceful cafe experience on the island, look no further.

Delicious food, best coffee on the island (that we’ve tried!), and unbelievable vibe. Vegan options— mostly vegan menu. All vegetarian. The store is currently in a food truck as they recover from Ian — and they’re about to move back into their main location. I’m absolutely blown away by what this crew is doing in a food truck and can’t wait to come back to celebrate them back in their building next time we visit. We’ve come here twice now on our short trip to Sanibel. I can’t say enough good things— truly. The vegan BLT is beyond delicious— the vegetables were fresh and tasty and the Sprouts twist was yummy! Definitely try this. The juice of the day (green apple, cucumber, beets and ginger) was fresh and delicious— and we got stopped so many times while drinking it (and proceeded to send people to sprouts to get it.) truly refreshing! We also tried the berry toast, which is sweet and warm and delicious. Overall, amazing! Come here!

This is definitely a place you have to try while in Sanibel! We didn't have reservations and the staff was so quick to accommodate us regardless. (I'm thinking the owner got us the table) the food was superb! The ginger glazed chilean sea bass was my favorite meal during my whole stay here on the island! We can't wait to go back and try more!

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at the Blue Coyote on our first visit there, and loved the mussels in curry sauce as a special appetizer that evening. I had the famous pork chop and she had the beef tenderloin, and both were cooked perfectly. Lastly, everyone in the service team was wonderful and checked on us to make sure the meal was to our liking. A "Must Do" dinner if you are on Sanibel and want a classy meal!

Great service, attractive location, yummy food. We had a delicious basil tomato soup, pork chop, and the ribeye steak.Their bread pudding is great. The half order was plenty for two people to share. They have an option to add a cinnamon ice cream that is very good.

We went here on a whim and determined that it was the best restaurant experience either my fiance and I have experienced. The service was superb! Our waiter, Cooper, explained the specials and the menu with practiced care. The staff in general was incredibly friendly and then there's the food. We ordered the special for an appetizer, stuffed artichoke with goat cheese. It was phenomenal! I ordered the Berbere Tuna for an entree. It was cooked to perfection! The texture was almost melt in your mouth with a coconut curry sauce. My fiance ordered the Wagyu tenderloin. It was the most tender beef either of us have enjoyed. We did not have dessert, however, I feel that it would have most certainly been as good as the rest either the entree or the appetizer. Thank you for such excellent service and experience for our Sanibel Island trip! I look forward to another visit!

We had the shrimp and grits and this dish was amazing. Love the cajun flare the chef adds to this with the peppers, sausage, and delicious roux. You must order this! The staff was excellent as well and very patient with the kids as he answered all their questions.

Excellent! We have been visiting Sanibel for years and years, and enjoy the many restaurants of the islands. We had a fabulous meal. My only regret, after ordering the filet, was seeing the amazing looking lamb arrive at the table next to us!! ...But we made up for that the next night when we went there for a few cocktails with friends, and ordered them as a late night shared snack. Delicious!
Tim M — Google review
it's got to be said: this is the best place on the island to eat, drink and be merry. the menu is varied enough to suit all and the quality is outstanding. we personally recommend their escargot starter and any steak and which way, or if you wish their fish their specials their anything whatsoever. give this place a go the management is superb and the staff are above standard - how does the owner continue to do that??? go and enjoy a phenomenal lunch or evening meal - to date I know of no one who hasn't said it's amazing. enjoy the best that Sanibel (or even their Fort Myers local) has to offer we're taking the kids and grandkids this very weekend - it suits all in every way

There's a relaxed, casual charm intertwined within this elegant, high class eatery that will leave you dazzled and slightly confused, in a good way. The food is blue ribbon, make no mistake and do not hesitate to wonder. The servers have a passion about the menu, which the chef doesn't hold back on. And don't be surprised when the owner or the manager come to your table not only to make sure you're taken care of, but to strike up a conversation and get to know you. Eat here and you are family.

Special, thank you to Holly for the most amazing facial. My skin felt amazing and had a wonderful glow to it after the treatment. The spa is gorgeous with all the special touches of decor and the salt cave is incredibly relaxing. I would recommend this to everyone. It was a great experience!

My wife and I enjoyed their Orange Blossom Couples Retreat. It was, in fact, our seventh anniversary, so we indulged in the best way possible...at the spa! Holly and Joel were great. Joel asked both of us how we liked our massages, ensuring we were to get what we needed...The session started with Joel performing for me a super deep tissue massage, getting all those knots out, and three weeks later...I am still relieved. He knocked it out of the park! At the same time, at the table next to me was my wife indulging in Hollys reflexology, facial, scrub, etc...I never heard anything from my wife, other than deep breathing...the atmosphere was perfect...soft lights/candles and music...when it came time to switch, I was taken to another place...absolutely amazing what Holly can do...I swear, after Joel working all those muscles and then to get pampered by Holly...I could not move. I am not kidding...for at least 10 minutes after she was done, I just laid there in absolute tranquility. My wife needed a much softer approach with Joel, and he was great with her...checking in with her now and again, as he did with me, to ensure he was meeting her needs. We then headed to their salt cave with glasses of wine. I highly recommend...I always have a stuffy head, and after about 20 minutes, I was clearer than I could remember...the soft music, relaxing chairs...deep breaths of fine salt...yup, this is the life! We will never forget this experience and it truly made our seventh anniversary super special. I certainly recommend if you are in the area, or not...make the effort and make a day of it...you wont be disappointed. Thanks Joel and Holly...

Joel was so kind, personable, professional, and provided an overall amazing experience. Will definitely be back! I arrived early and was able to sit it the salt cave while I waited, which was very relaxing. When it was time for my massage, Joel asked me my pain points and what I wanted to focus on. He also made sure I was comfortable and the pressure he applied was to my liking. I had mentioned TMJ was one of my issues and he made sure to work on that, along with my back, shoulders & neck, and scalp. I felt that the experience was tailored to me and my body, and was exactly what I needed. Thank you Joel!!!
