Aquarium
Nature & Parks
The Grand Aquarium Saint Malo offers a modern indoor experience with close encounters with sharks, mini-sub rides, and pirate exhibits. It is one of the best sightseeing attractions in the area, providing fun activities for visitors to explore. In addition to the aquarium, there are numerous other attractions nearby such as historical sites, museums, and natural landmarks. Visitors can also find information about local culture, dining options, budget-friendly accommodations, shopping areas, nightlife spots and relaxation opportunities in the vicinity.
Wonderful place! It would make a great afternoon visit with kids or even to go on a date. Not much in English but it's fun and interesting.
Maureen E — Google review
Very nice aquarium, not only regular fish, but also a variety of more obscure, more interesting fish. The ride at the end is very entertaining and creative. Beware of loud children though, they’re not just shark bait unfortunately…
Julian K — Google review
Visiting from the UK arrived on the morning ferry with hours till accommodation check in.. Called in here to the Grand Aquarium.. Wow.. a great couple of hours spent with the Fish.. Well laid out, a great family visit.. The Nautibus tres Magnific.
Simon P — Google review
A visit for the kids who love their fish and other sea animals after a walk round the old town of Saint Malo. Lots of parking, some under cover so the car isnt too baking when you return to it. Entrance fee was reasonable for family of 4, less than UK Seaworlds. The signs were electronic and helpfully cycled through each animal in each tank in French and English, more informative than lots of tired UK Seaworld signs. Lots of different sea creatures to see, including turtles in the main tank and spider crabs, a nice flow to the different sections, and a surprise at the end, a simulation of a visit to an underwater station and submarine ride. Quite slow moving queue (whole thing probably took an hour) in a confined area, the videos along the way are all in French, and the sub ride itself is arguably more exciting than what you can see outside of the sub, but a welcome addition to end the visit on that a UK place would make you pay extra for. Worth a visit, rain or shine.
Chris W — Google review
Really lovely trip out. I think the price was reasonable considering it is similar to prices back in England and that doesn't even include a fantastic submarine ride, like here at the Grand Aquarium. Fantastic selection of fish, crustaceans and turtles to see, some I've never seen before. Lovely clean glass on the aquariums. Huge multiple touch pool area with sharks, rays, fish and crabs to touch. Animal welfare seems really good here too. Throughly enjoyed ourselves. The only thing I think they could improve on is having english subs or dub on some of the videos, so we can understand a little better. We entered at 12 noon and there was no queue, no rush to enter as open until 7pm. Spent a few hours walking around and then went on to Dinard close by for a seaside walk.
Kirsty P — Google review
Excellent experience. Very good aquatic husbandry. I really enjoyed the behind the scenes tour.
Jimretr0 — Google review
Good - but really was busy! Busier than when we went to the larger one in Paris but great fun. The sub ride at the end is good fun and not to be missed!
Kelly L — Google review
We arrived before lunch and found that there wasn't a big queue to get in which was good. We had lots of room to move about with only once or twice being a little crowded. Plenty of exhibits to see. My boys were amazed by the sharks and the Rays which one of them was brave enough to touch at the  The underwater cave was super. The gift shop was well laid out and we had no problem parting with a few euros to get some decent gifts.

Fort National is a 17th-century granite fortress located on an outcrop that can only be accessed at low tide. Guided tours are available for visitors to explore this historic site. The fort is part of a range of popular sightseeing attractions and activities in the area, including Saint Malo, Grand Aquarium, St Vincent Cathedral, and beaches. Visitors can also experience local culture, dine at great restaurants, find budget-friendly accommodations, and enjoy shopping and nightlife options nearby.
Came during low tide in winter and it was truly spectacular even during this time of the year. It’s even better when you don’t have to fight the crowds during the most favored times of the year. Definitely worth your time to visit, but check the local tide schedule if you wish to walk along the beautiful stretch of beach here.
Jonathan L — Google review
Fantastic with great views. Definitely worth a visit at low tide, it is open when the flag is up. It costs €5 to access the fort, cash only is accepted
Stuart — Google review
When I arrived at the gate it was €5 and they accepted only cash so I wasn’t able to go in. Views from the gate looking back to the city are stunning and well worth the walk over.
Louise R — Google review
It’s opened only from June to September for visits. But it’s placed beautifully in the middle of the sea and reachable only on low tides.
Florin D — Google review
If the France flag is on the castle means it’s open to public to visit. However even visit the beach is fun.
Hao Y — Google review
On the Michelin scale, it would be ⭐️, worth stopping in if you’re around, I would not make a dedicated trip just for this. Saint Malo is very nice though.
Mike L — Google review
Very nice castle on the bay. You can walking to the castle only when there is low tide. This is an ancient guard castle to defense the city from sea attack, so there are cannons inside. There is a large grass for resting, it's also beautiful for child who want to run. In the sunny days is a very spectacular place for taking pictures. It's important so pay attention at the tides, if you don't want wet your shoes..
Sergio — Google review
I went there at 3:30 on a Friday at low tide and it was closed, even though in the picture I took, you can see people inside. I’m not sure why they can get in and I can’t. Not good. Also, the hours on Google say it’s open. Too bad they don’t update it when they’re closed. I went to the office of tourism and she said that is closed for the next three days, but she didn’t know why. I found out why it was closed for three days because it was due to a wedding. I guess rich people have priority over the regular people. Also, it says to look for a French flag to see if it’s opened, but they fly a Britain flag along with the blue flag to confuse you. Luckily I was able to go back another day and their website said it was opened and when I got there they said I could tour it for 30 minutes. About five minutes later, they told me I had to leave even though the tide had not blocked the away.

Historic Sites
Demeure de Corsaire is a historical mansion and museum located near Le Grand Hotel Des Thermes in Saint-Malo, France. Built in 1725, this imposing mansion offers guided tours in French, allowing visitors to step back in time to 18th-century Brittany and explore the elegant interior with historic furnishings, including wrought iron banisters, open fireplaces, and sumptuous bedrooms. The museum also features a terrace with stunning views of the old town.
Amazing mansion that brings you back to the 17th century. It was an amazing visit with a very good tour guide that knew a lot of the history of the mansion and the history of Saint Malo.
Hugo G — Google review
I anticipated that the tour would not be accessible to non French speakers but I was not prepared for a whole hour just spent in 3 rooms - I was very disappointed not to see more than the ground floor (rather than the 56 rooms advertised) but I couldnt stand up any longer ! My feeling was that the lengthy (interminable) explanations were (way) too long even for French speakers. Sadly I left after an hour - my choice ! Just couldn’t take any more …. Re bathroom - no toilet paper and basin sink bin overflowing with yesterday’s used towels. Madame was 10 mins late opening up so maybe they had a problem 🤷🏻‍♀️ if you don’t speak French I would say don’t go - this is a real pity as I didn’t lack interest or realise the rarity of the maison.
Sally W — Google review
Translated by our guide was a very detailed and animated description of St Mali's days related to privateering.
Marla W — Google review
Disappointing Tour for Non-French Speaking Tourists Review: I was very excited to visit the "Demeure de Corsaire" in Saint-Malo because of my great interest in the history of privateers. Unfortunately, the tour was a huge disappointment. Firstly: The entire tour is exclusively in French. There are no indications that other languages are not supported. As a tourist, you feel misled when you only find out upon entering the museum that you won’t understand anything if you don’t speak French. Secondly: There is no information or warning that the tour is only in French before you purchase the tickets. Given the rather high ticket prices, I would have at least expected an audio guide or a written summary in English. Instead, you end up stuck with expensive tickets without being able to enjoy even a fraction of the tour's value. Thirdly: When I brought this up with the staff, I was brushed off in a very unfriendly and arrogant manner. There was no willingness to help or provide alternative solutions to make at least part of the experience comprehensible. I cannot recommend this museum if you do not speak French. It is really a shame that such a historically significant place is not better suited to international visitors. Saint-Malo has many other attractions that are much more welcoming. Avoid the "Demeure de Corsaire" if you are planning a pleasant and informative visit.
Leonard L — Google review
It's a nice, historic house but it's inhabited and so it cannot be visited in its entirety. It was an okayish experience but would not repeat it. The owner is either a historian or very passionate about (local) history and takes tourists around the house, providing details about French corsairs and their sea interactions with the English and the Spanish. He doesn't like to be contradicted or challenged.
Andreea S — Google review
All visits are guided and in French only. Much of it concerns the history of the corsairs.
James K — Google review
Excellent visit with a well informed, funny, entertaining, engaging and patient guide who made history come to life by telling us surprising stories, enacting scenes and revealing secrets of times gone by + answering lots of questions and giving plenty of explanations and details. Despite the house itself and displays being limited to several rooms, the visit was made memorable and enriching; the corsairs suddenly seemed approachable and their adventures intertwined with day to day life, were described with insightful and rich historical background. The rise and fall and rise again of the town of Saint Malo makes for a fascinating story. A very enjoyable visit (in French) that I would highly recommend.

The Jacques Cartier Museum, located in the Manoir de Limoelou, is a unique legacy of the famous French explorer. This museum offers a glimpse into Cartier's life and history, showcasing his summer residence with period furniture and rooms that serve the same functions as they did during his time. Visitors can join guided tours to learn about Cartier's exploration of eastern Canada and see some of the navigation instruments he used.
Great visit. We learned a lot not just about Cartier but about navigation. We loved all the explanations and anecdotes.

A 25 minute walk inland from bus stop. Long even road. Nice walk. Visit includes a short video and guided tour. Museum really well put together. Lasted 1 hour. I had contacted them before arriving and they had a guide who spoke English to show us 2 around. It was lovely. Worth going to.

Great Place to visit for Canadians, but also the others Lots of activities for kids while you are waiting for a guided tour (or after).

Interesting museum for people who are interested in French Canada’s history. The museum is very small and doesn’t have much stuff but it is staffed by helpful young people.
Cora S — Google review
We really enjoyed this very interesting visit. The guide was clearly passionate and knowledgeable about Jacques Cartier, the history of navigation and Saint Malo. The gift store has lovely things, sold at a reasonable price. Attn: you must deserve to visit.
Emily Y — Google review
Excellent guided tour of just over an hour. Interesting history of the man who discovered Canada, how they used to live in those days and also how they counted time & navigated before clocks & GPS were invented.
Gavin M — Google review
Cannot leave a review as we had no chance to enter. You have to travel very far to see it. On google the time table is not added, the website is outdated, on the booklet one information is written and in reality we were told that they have a lunch break and museum is closed and that we can go inside only with the tour guide and it is only in the certain hours.

Nestled at the base of the walled city, Plage de Bon-Secours is a delightful and secluded beach that is ideal for families with young children. The highlight of this beach is the seawater pool, which provides a safe swimming area even during low tide. For those seeking adventure, there are legendary Diving Boards that offer an exhilarating experience.
Beautiful beach with an incredible natural pool that allows for swimming even with low tide. Very nice views both of the sea and the city. Would highly recommend visiting even if it’s too cold to swim, as it provides a great view. We visited nearing the end of August and had a great time!
Nico M — Google review
We had nothing to do so it was decided by chance to go to this beach. If we didn't have then we wouldn't happen to discover the beautiful Saint Malo. We would've stayed more if not for the bad weather.
Xhina C — Google review
If we hadn't had ferry cancelled at Santander we would not have seen beautiful St. Malo! Lovely walled city and spectacular views from the walls over Bon Secours beach and bay even with sea mist drifting in. Well worth a visit.
Sandra W — Google review
Due to the changes in the tides, especially when the sea recedes many meters, Rene Lesaunier had the idea of building a seawater pool, thus allowing his guests to swim all day long. The pool was built during the year 1937.
Natalie D — Google review
Very nice and clean beach, the tides are enjoyable. Not enough shade but I guess people are prefer sunshine. Temperature wise, it's not the warmest, it's the Atlantic.

Grande Plage du Sillon, situated in the northern region of Brittany near Saint-Malo, is a popular city beach known for its long stretch of sandy shores and views of the historic Fort National. The area boasts a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages when it served as a refuge for pirates. This beloved resort destination offers visitors an expansive golden coastline, clear waters ideal for swimming, and a family-friendly atmosphere. Additionally, it provides stunning vistas of the walled city and surrounding islands.
Douce France où la mer qu'on voit danser:) It's really a wonderful place, unique, but also one of many beautiful places in northern France. There is this certain vibe there, this sort of wild, sauvage feel to these places. Maybe it's a feeling of freedom, or the incredible history that is preserved by the marvelous architecture?
Alexander L — Google review

I don't have enough words to describe the beauty of this place, the beach with fine sand, the sea of a spectacular color, the vibe of this corner of heaven. I simply adore it 🥰

Wonderful! Gorgeous views. Fantastic panoramas! It made me painting it. I share my watercolour with this site.
Vladimir S — Google review
At 3 km long, it is the largest sandy beach in Saint-Malo. The dike was built from 1883 to 1913 on an old sandy beach. With a length of 1671 meters, it runs along the Grande plage lined with numerous villas built at the end of the 19th century. Along the Sillon, a line of breakwaters protects the dike from the force of the waves. Built at the beginning of the 19th century, the oaken breakwaters have a depth at least equal to or even greater than their visible height.
Natalie D — Google review
Grande Plage du Sillon is the largest beach and was voted the most beautiful beach in France in 2018. It stretches over three kilometers of fine sand and connects two neighborhoods of the city - Intra-Muros and Parame. During high tide, the beach completely disappears, and during low tide, it becomes a very wide beach.

I really enjoyed this little zoo! It is in a historical building, very authentically organized terrariums and is a big refreshment to go there while visiting St Malo. Thank you Nature Fairy for directing me there, had a great time!
Zoltán L — Google review
Definitely worth a visit!! The animals are in a good environment and partly rescued from bad living conditions in private collections, so you also support a good cause. Very diverse zoo with fish, amphibians, spiders, reptiles, birds and the highlight: the most adorable little sugar gliders and a king quail!!!
Jade M — Google review
An unusual small zoo inside the walls of the old city. You can see it in 30-45 minutes. Animals (mostly reptiles, amphibians and fish, with a few birds and mammals) look very well cared for and have good-sized, well set up enclosures. Everything is extremely well documented in both French and English. Glad I went.
Grant D — Google review
This is a fun place to stop for a little while! Entry fee is quite reasonable and the member of staff who greeted us gave us a good rundown of the site's history. There's a fun range of animals to see, including adorable sugar gliders, energetic little turtles and the coolest dwarf crocodile you'll ever see. Definitely worth a visit!
Jake F — Google review
I really liked this place and want to give an honest review. First for the visit time, it took us about 1 hour and 15 minute for the entire visit, but if you rush through it you can do it in 10 minutes and just click a quick photo for every animal. The animals displayed are more common, which does not take away from their interest. What we found especially fascinating though were the location of the zoo (inside the rampats) and the great effort (and I reckon cost) the zoo took to replicate the unique soil composure and enivironment for each aninal. Way beyond what most of such establishment do. Also the staff really showed great passion and friendliness which we appreciated it. Room for improvemt though is definetely in how the information is displayed. Its quite old school, simple info signs, whose design lack clarity and also information. A lot of information is also only presented in French, which isnt too friendky for international visitors. Have seen it done better. Still, overall a 5 star experience for us and definetely worth the 10 euro entry if you care about reptiles in a unique historical environment.

Visited today and was absolutely brilliant, staff are excellent, warm welcome and great introduction to the animals and the ramparts that you are walking underneath, details of each animal available in both French and English, great value and fascinating to see the animals up close in a unique environment. Cannot recommend highly enough, just a minute or two from the tourist office. Well worth a visit and we shall be back.

Tombeau de Chateaubriand is the final resting place of the French author Francois-Rene de Chateaubriand, located on Grand Be island in Saint-Malo, France. It was his desire to be buried there, facing the sea. Despite initial rejection, he obtained permission with the help of a friend. The tomb is a simple yet significant site to visit while exploring St Malo, especially during low tide when it can be accessed easily.
Very cool to see during low tide!

François-René, vicomte de Chateaubriand (1768–1848) was a highly influential French writer, politician, diplomat, and historian. He is widely considered the founder of French Romanticism. He requested to be buried here with a plaque that says "A great French writer wished to rest here, to hear only the sea and the wind. Passers-by respect his last wish.". A beautiful resting place with a beautiful view.

Absolute perfection. I loved my one night here but will definitely be coming back . Stunning location, excellent staff and delicious food

Bad service not only in spa which is completely mechanical, but in the outdoor restaurant where the staff is ill-trained. The food is well presented, and I’m sure that the chef is excellent, but the staff here really do not do justice to the environment the location and the food very very bad service overall
Barbara M — Google review
Highly overrated with poor management that has no concept of customer service. The Thalaso is a joke and the fact that they advertise it to cancer patients is criminal. Poor organization of the treatments and you have no choice in the treatments, you have to choose one of their "packages". We reserved 2 months in advance and we were shuffled around to fit in their schedule with 1 hour gaps between treatments. 9000 euro for 2 people for one week. So overpriced for what it is.

Great hotel but let down by guests coming to breakfast in their bathrobes and slippers. This lack of appropriate dress code was disappointing. (As well as unpleasant)

The welcoming and the room were really nice, however the staff seemed overwhelmed and stressed. During a massage the practician even told me that after complaining to her director about obscene behaviors from a client, she was asked to let go !! I'm shocked and disgusted, there is a serious problem with the working conditions ! Not recommended.

Castle
The construction of Saint-Malo Castle began in 1424 by John V, Duke of Brittany, to secure his control over the town. The castle features a D-shaped keep and is the oldest built on a corner tower of a rampart. It stands at the bottom of Grande Plage du Sillon and measures 20 meters high and 33 meters in diameter.
Fabulous walk and inside the wall of the castle is so lively. Watch the kids growing into the sailors life, they take sailing lessons ⛵️ Parking is really difficult and it fills up quickly. So many nice cafes and it is great place for people watching.
Nusynasy S — Google review
Very nice that we could walk around the walls and enjoy the view. There are parts where you can sit and enjoy the scenery. Parking is challenging but I recommend walking around that beach area and visiting the castle. A lot of good restaurants, a bit overpriced at times but affordable. Shops inside the castle could stay open longer during high season.

The Chateaux was built between the 15th and 18th centuries. The castle was built by the dukes of Brittany to ensure their guardianship over the city of Saint-Malo. Anne of Brittany, future queen of France, ordered the construction of the tower of Quic-en-Groigne between 1498 and 1501. Today it has been converted and houses the services of the City Hall of Saint-Malo, while the General Tower and the Great Keep house the Museum of the History of the City.

Visitors can also engage in conversations with local fishermen while taking in the amazing view of Saint Malo fortress.
I visited it today; it allows you to get a better view of the Rance River estuary, the city of Dinard, which is on the left bank of the estuary, and the marina, where there are many boats. From here, you can see the magnificent walls of Saint Malo fortress.

(Translated by Google) The construction of the castle was ordered by Duke John V of Brittany in 1424. Only the "Small Keep" and the western curtain wall are earlier: they date from the 14th century. Built between the 15th and 18th centuries, this proud castle has been listed as a historic monument since July 1886. During the reign of Louis XIV, Vauban carried out alterations and had the two buildings built along the north and east walls in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. He also reinforced the Bastion de la Galère, shaped like a ship's prow, at the far east. In the Great Keep, there is access to a very interesting museum, the "Museum of the History of the City and the Pays Malouin". Saint-Malo Town Hall and municipal services are housed in the barracks added by Vauban. (Original) La construction du château a été décidée par le duc Jean V de Bretagne en 1424. Mémorial 39-45 is a significant museum located in Saint-Malo, offering visitors an immersive experience into the city's wartime history. Housed within a vast anti-aircraft bunker in the Cité d'Alet, which is part of a 17th-century fortress designed by Vauban, this exhibition spans over 500 square meters across three levels and ten rooms.
The memorial is a beautiful and quiet place with a great view! Although you can visit without, it's highly recommended to take one of the tours, they start every hour and there are two different tours available, they are not expensive and the guide is very animated about the subject. The tour is in French, but you get a translation on paper so you can read along.

All in all it was an interesting experience to see the old bunkers and the view from the old fortress. Still I think there’s a lot to do. The area outside is free for visitors, but you can only look at the old bunkers and enjoy the view. That’s it. I think there should be a bit more information about what is what and what happened back then. The information should be available in French, English and German not only in French. This place is important for many people and maybe also for the young generations who don’t understand French. Even just English would be enough for everyone to understand! The opening times to the museum (which you can only visit by booking a guided tour in French, just some printed text in English and German) should be longer. You visit the place and the museum is not open and you won’t come again. In a nutshell, there’s a lot of change to be done…

Time to brush up on history. This open area is an important place to walk, visit, and honor. For bunker tours, call ahead to arrange a guided tour. The place is an old German fortification that extended along the tip of the coast and was eventually conquered back during W.W.II. The bunkers are well preserved, restoration takes place to help preserve the forts/bunkers. A sense of admiration for those who fought and died for France is palpable.

Bidouane Tower, a historic structure in Saint-Malo, stands at 23 meters tall and was originally constructed as a gunpowder storage facility in the 15th century. It played a significant role in the city's defense and was targeted by an 'infernal machine' in 1663. Today, visitors can climb to the top for panoramic views of the surrounding islands and shimmering waters.
I think this is the most scenic place and a must when in St Malo. When I was there, the pianist was playing under the clear sky and it was wonderfully moving and elemental.
Kentarieeenu 3 — Google review
It was against this tower that the Anglo-Dutch tried to operate an "infernal machine" in 1663, which consisted of a ship full of explosives that was sent near the tower to explode it. It is one of the main fortified towers of the walls. It is 23 meters high and 13 meters wide, and was part of the desire to make of Saint-Malo an important fortress. It was built on a rocky promontory during the second half of the 15th century. It takes its present name in 1691, when it was rebuilt.

Historical landmark
Grand Bé is a rocky island near Saint-Malo that can be reached on foot during low tide. It features the remnants of an old fort strategically designed by French architect Vaubun and the tomb of Francois Rene de Chateaubriand, a prominent figure in French romanticism. The island also played a role in World War II, serving as a location for German gun emplacements before being quickly liberated by American forces.
Fascinating place to visit. Beautiful views back to Sant Malo. Great walk.

Good hotel located in the heart of the walled city of St Malo. Stylish decor, in all areas, public areas, rooms and hallways, seperates this from comparably priced hotels. High end restaurant and Spa facilities available. Limited parking is available for those brave enough to tackle the maze of cobbled streets. Recommend booking parking in advance especially if your vehicle can't fit in the underground parking.
Adrian S — Google review
Awesome view ! The road is hidden half the day, for us it became possible to go there a bit after 18h00. After a bit of a walk and a small sandstorm we were greeted with an unforgettable view. Snapped some really cool photos, should be fun for photography enthusiasts!

It's a majical place to visit. Crystal clear water surrounding the area during high tide. You can walk out to the fort in low tide, although it's not open to the public. The walk itself is spectacular

Gran Bé is a tidal island, at low tide you can reach the island on foot from the nearby beach of Bon-Secours. On the island you will find the remains of an old fort. The site was reused by Vauban in 1689 for the defense of Saint-Malo. And during the Second World War, the Germans reused the island by installing a heavy naval battery there (antiaircraft and anti-tank cannons, as well as two searchlights) which led to it being heavily bombed by the North Americans.

We waited for the tide to go out far enough to allow us to cross the causeway and spent some quality time looking at pebbles and stones

Departing from the Gare maritime de la Bourse in St. Malo to Albert Pier in St.
9 euros for a two way trip from Dinard to Saint Malo. I’m not a boat person as I easily get sick but besides the first couple of minutes the 10min ride is very smooth. Staff super nice. They use different types of boats so pick the one you prefer. Different stops in Dinard depending on the tide.

Too busy is the simple answer even though it was the last day of September. It can take 52 people according to the sign. We counted 46 in the que and joined it but when the train arrived some of the people in the que were joined by other people and there was no room for us. There were around a dozen people in front of us that didn't get on.
Marvin B — Google review
Wait in line for 30 minutes for an overpriced train and not even an apology it's full from the ride driver.
Matthew S — Google review
Don't do the Petit Train unless you haven't already seen the Intra Muros at St Malo. All the train does is make a slow route inside the streets of the Intra Muros, and when you've already spent the previous day doing that on foot (as we had), then you've stood in line for 30 minutes and paid 7 euros a person to repeat the experience in a small train. The only good thing that came from our excursion was discovering the new Harry Potter store, Mystère et Cie, that just opened earlier in July, and the tea salon Bergamot. We went back to both the next day and had a lovely time. So it wasn't a total waste.

Plage de la Hoguette is located in Saint-Malo, offering a picturesque coastal experience. The area features several attractions such as the Bassin Duguay-Trouin, Jardin des Douves, and Chateau de Saint-Malo. Visitors can also explore the nearby monuments and statues while enjoying the scenic views of the coastline. The beach itself is spacious and clean, with lifeguards on duty for safety.
Really clean, not too crowded because the beach is large when the sea is low tide. Thus you have plenty of space to play rackets, walke your dog, take a bath of sun, swim, picnic or play Molki (kind of bowling but it can be played almost everywhere though). Nb. According to the tourism office website (03/2019), dogs are not allowed from 1st of April > 30th of September on the beach. The beach goes from the suburbs to the city and then goes around the city. Worth it.

What an amazing beach, we walked from St Malo along the promenade with the intention of visiting the sculptured rocks at the other end but this place is vast. We only made it to surf school where there was a convenient snack bar on the beach, then we sat on the warm golden sand and enjoyed the beautiful views in the sunshine. Next time, we’ll hire bikes and complete the entire length of the beach, we’ll worth a visit.

Museum
If you're looking to immerse yourself in history, the Mémorial 39-45 is a must-visit destination. This poignant site, located near Saint Malo, serves as a tribute to the sacrifices made during World War II when German forces occupied France. The area features well-preserved bunkers that were once part of an extensive fortification along the coast. As you stroll through this open space, you'll feel a deep sense of respect for those who fought valiantly for their country.
Spacious and incredible views. Well worth the walk
Minh D — Google review
Jacob — Google review
The memorial is a beautiful and quiet place with a great view! Although you can visit without, it's highly recommended to take one of the tours, they start every hour and there are two different tours available, they are not expensive and the guide is very animated about the subject. The tour is in French, but you get a translation on paper so you can read along.
Patrick V — Google review

Chris H — Google review
Time to brush up on history. This open area is an important place to walk, visit, and honor. For bunker tours, call ahead to arrange a guided tour. The place is an old German fortification that extended along the tip of the coast and was eventually conquered back during W.W.II. The bunkers are well preserved, restoration takes place to help preserve the forts/bunkers. A sense of admiration for those who fought and died for France is palpable.

Saint Malo is a stunning city in Brittany, known for its grey granite houses that exude an air of venerability. The Intra-Muros district features cobblestone streets lined with bars, restaurants, and upscale shops. Despite being heavily damaged in 1944, the city has been beautifully restored. Strategically located at the mouth of the Rance River into the English Channel, Saint Malo served as a crucial stopover for ships heading to the New World.
Fortified, Saint-Malo is part of Brittany and is located on the Rance River, right at its mouth into the English Channel. Geographically, the Gulf of Saint-Malo marks the point where the English Channel continues westward, merging into the vast expanse of the ocean. Strategically built at the exit of the English Channel, the port of Saint-Malo was used as a stopover for all ships departing from Northern Europe towards the New World. However, the events that made it famous worldwide are closely related to piracy, earning it the nickname "The City of Corsairs." During a period of "tolerance" towards piracy, French kings encouraged corsairs from Saint-Malo to plunder Dutch and English merchant ships passing through the area. As a result, many pirates became wealthy from their piratical activities. The corsairs' activity continued until the early 19th century when it was completely banned through the Treaty of Paris in 1814. During World War II, the city was almost entirely destroyed by bombings from American forces. Approximately 12,000 German soldiers who refused to surrender when the city's authorities requested it were quartered inside the city's fortifications. The German army set fire to the city, and it was also bombed by the Americans, but fortunately, the residents were evacuated in time, avoiding significant loss of life. After the war, the city was rapidly rebuilt, adhering to the same architectural and urban planning rules as before the war. As a result, you can admire a fortified city with perpendicular streets and stone houses.

(Translated by Google) When we arrived as a family, we wanted to book a 1-hour kayaking session from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., which had been arranged over the phone. The manager of these rentals is unpleasant and pushy. One goal: to scam us. He pressures us to sign the rental agreement so he can squeeze every last minute of the rental time. He makes us sign from 6:10 p.m. until 7:05 p.m., including the change of clothes. We pay for an hour to get 45 minutes... I highly recommend the kayak rental closer to the city center.

(Translated by Google) Having gone with friends to let off steam on the beaches of Saint Malo, we were unable to be taken by a nautical center... But! We came across the rental of paddle boards, kayaks, pedal boats, from the priory beach. The gentleman who runs the place is very patient, friendly and gives very good advice. We took a total of 2 hours of activity for 4 adults and we paid ~80€ (pedalo + paddle) , which (we found) is very fair compared to the upwardly priced prices of other nautical centers on the coast. I recommend the Caligula pedal boat, a huge multi-seater pedal boat with a small slide, it was great. Also the paddles were excellent, light and fast on the waves! Finally, the distance that we could cover at sea was sufficient to have a lot of fun. I highly recommend the premises, the activities and the place!

Etienne has adapted his schedule (high tide at 6 p.m.) to allow us to paddle after the jumping in Dinard. Boards and paddles are of excellent quality. Etienne even managed to bring back the sun! I recommend! (Original) Novices en paddle, Etienne nous a donné d’excellents conseil pour embarquer (en maîtrisant le shorebreak) et débarquer (pour ne pas partir en surf).
