This park is absolutely stunning! I have been to a lot of them but this one is a true piece of art! Wherever you look it is fabulous! The rides are super fun and the food is very good. I want to come back as soon as i can.

It's a nice enough place. It's clean, in terms of no visible grime on things, but the air is filthy with cigarette smoke. The rides are long, with queues to match. I found myself exiting rides, feeling nauseous already, only to walk into a wall of toxic smoke making me feel disgusting. The only place you can go to escape it is the queue of another ride, so that's what we did. The food is on the expensive side, but there are cheaper options and we took our own snacks to supplement. Recommend doing this if cost is a concern. A number of rides were closed on our visit but the ones we did go on were good, well managed, no technical difficulties. We didn't check our small bags and they were fine to be stored while we went on most rides. Agree that the shuttle bus feels like a scam. €5 for a return trip when you have to wait 30 min for it feels excessive. I tried it, I didn't vomit, I probably wouldn't return.

An incredible visit. Visited on a weekday in September. Queue times were great (aside from a peak, late morning). Unbelievable theming, ride offering, attention to detail and theming. Great food offering (high quality, loads of choice and not overly expensive). Staff were great too. The *only* downside for me is that this is definitely a park of ‘two halves’. The ‘Fantasy’ area is super dated and uninteresting. Really hoping that this area is high up on their plans for a total overhaul, as there is so much land here. The other lands are insanely good. Can’t wait to see what the future looks like for this amazing park.

Great experience, amazing times. We did spend whole day over there. Waiting time for ride was reasonable. Place was clean, staff friendly and travel from Cologne was good. I would be back for sure.

I love visiting theme park and I was intrigued by Phantasialand for a while but I was hesitant because this park has mostly thrill rides and I'm really not into it. However my Husband's is a huge fan of thrill rides so stopped for a day. I was positively surprised by the beauty of the park. The decor are really amazing and well made. I loved the vintage Germany area and the fantasy land. But everything was really gorgeous! It's immersive, well maintained and magical. My favorite ride was Maus au Chocolat which was fun and the decor were really nice. Also Geisterishka even though it's quite outdated now, I liked it. The carousel and the monorail were also pleasant. But as someone who is not into thrill rides I can sometimes be a bit bored. Thankfully the park is nice to walk around, have a sit to relax or watch a show. It was enough for a day however and I couldn't have stayed more unfortunately. I hope that in the future, more dark rides will come as it's something that's really missing here. Other than that, for the quality and the price I can't complain. This is one of the best park in Europe and I wonder why it's not more known. The park is beautiful, they care for details and they maintained it very well compare to other (more popular) parks in Europe. I will definitely come back again if I visit the area.

People are smoking all over the place. This part was a huge dissapointment. The Uhrwerk restaurant employees didnt speak English which should be a basic requirement for anyone working there. We ended up in the China parking where the spaces between the two rows were very very narrow. The whole parking should be re-planned. Overall, it is a nice park, nothing stands out in terms of extreme. It is a nice family park with family friendly attractions. The app is rubbish and the developers seems to be stupid for missing basic things like different languages…!? The price is too high for what you get. Better to go to Toverland or Efteling for cheaper, better, more organised and overall better value for your money.

It was great fun day, amusement offers a lot of rides for everyone although the famous rides takes a long queue esp if youre there on a weekend it is best to be there early so you have time if you plan on trying all the rides. There are variety of Food offer from kiosks to restaurant. I enjoyed the show performers were amazing.

I like the mall in general, especially the ice-cream shop on the 3rd floor (close to the massage chairs area). However, I have to take down one star because of the extremely rude 2 staffs who sat in front of the toilet in the basement (the food court area). They cursed at me in their language 🥲

Wide parking spaces, little claustrophobic inside but overall nice shopping mall.

Fairly large multi-storey urban shopping center in the west end of Cologne, located on one of the major east-west transportation and traffic axis, Aachener Strasse. A tram line and several bus lines have stops right in front of the center. Several nationally known brands and local companies have outlets in the mall. There are several eateries and an ice cream parlor, too.

At present there's a super Christmas atmosphere in this shopping centre. It's full of shops selling quality goods. Food and coffee shops are excellent. Always enjoy coming to the Rhein Center when we visit Cologne.

This mall has everything right from food cafe, clothing,makeup , Entertainment to groceries. There is also a play area for kids in the food court which would keep the little ones entertained. The facility is clean and maintained well.

Pretty large shopping mall. All key shops for typical family or couple shopping available. Even being really large there is not a lot of walking needed compare to other malls. Parking is big, but on popular weekends can get nearly full {maybe even full but have not seen it full}. Recommendation if you're looking for shops in this area. Food court is nice and having more than typical fast food.

It is a nice small shopping mall, not so crowded but you can find almost all the shops, recently opened TK Max included. I wish there were more food options. Has a closed parking lot and next to the tram and bus stops, hence easy to access. Its way arounds are not tiresome but still it is a shopping mall, I advise comfortable shoes

Majestic…. In every angle. Firstly a great place of worship. A great prayer hall, architecture, gothic at is best. The entrances from east and west are not to be missed of its details. The north with two mighty towers offers best of it. The huge windows with itched glasses depicting various holy characters are worth watching in details. It takes one full day to enjoy this place in and out.

Utterly breathtaking and awe inspiring Cathedral. Immensely beautiful, clean and free to enter. Excellent support service in the Information centre. Many lovely older worlde cafes nearby.Toilets outside the Cathedral are clean and well maintained.

The Cologne Cathedral is absolutely amazing and breathtaking! Its enormous size and stunning Gothic architecture make it one of the most impressive landmarks I’ve ever visited. Even though it’s often crowded, everything feels well organized, and the atmosphere remains peaceful and respectful. It’s also right next to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station), so it’s very easy to reach — perfect for a quick stop or a longer visit. The gift shop is lovely, with nice souvenirs and books about the cathedral’s history. I especially recommend visiting on rainy days — the interior feels even more magical and calming, with the sound of rain outside and the light coming through the stained glass windows. Truly a must-see spot in Cologne!

Huge structure with fantastic works of art and acoustics! Interesting borehole to the underground foundations. Fun, and slightly disorienting spiral climb on narrow stairs to the belfry and then all way to the steeple of one of the spires! Parking can be found in an underground garage very close by. Lots of interesting people to watch both outside and in!

Went here during day time and night time and both times I was in awe with the size and just how grandeur the cathedral was. A wonderful place to visit when you’re in Cologne. There’s some renovation happening currently with how long it usually takes, it might still be there in the next couple of years. It’s quite busy but since it’s huge, you won’t really feel like it’s too crowded.

The Cologne Cathedral is majestic, standing tall for hundreds of years yet still so beautiful. Its Gothic architecture is stunning from every angle. Stepping inside feels calm and peaceful, a place where time slows down. The vast, light-filled interior carries a sense of serenity and peace that calms the soul. Visiting this cathedral is not just about admiring its grandeur, but also about feeling its quiet, timeless presence. A wonderful experience I’ll never forget.

Nice part of the city, lots to see, do and places to eat around. Structure looks amazing against the skyline and dominates. Inside is stunning and the tower climb was worth the 600 odd steps to the top.

Kitchen’s penchant for salt undermined most of the offerings. A mortal sin at any level. And at Christmas! Goodbye

Taku is more than a restaurant, it is an impeccable, flawless, elegant experience. The ingredients, presentation, and flavor of each dish dazzled our palates (I went with my husband). The photos attached show the dishes we actually ordered, plus little bites of marvelous things that were brought to us. The wait staff were lovely, helpful, and welcoming. I can't wait to return!

Some of the food was ok but I don’t see how it has a star; have eaten at “Michelin Guide” restaurants with much better quality. Menu was all over the place and was served a random loaf of bread and butter that did not fit with the meal. Silverware was also mismatched at times which one would not expect from a restaurant with a star. See pictures/captions for further info.

It was just an excellent experience! All of the courses were perfect but especially the “Bergamot”. Great job!

Perfect langoustine, the risotto is a star on its own, while the bolognese served with the lamb was delicious! Very good French wines. Good service and the location is very pretty. It is an expensive place so good to keep that in mind.

My husband and I were in town for work and a friend back home suggested this restaurant. I was able to make a reservation online which I appreciated, since I don’t speak German. I was able to correspond with the restaurant via email and they were very quick to reply. Yelp has this listed as formal attire and so I quickly emailed them to cancel my reservation. I got an immediate reply back stating that was not the case. I was so relieved! We walked there from our hotel and as we got closer, I was sure we were going the wrong way. Luckily google led us correctly and we arrived right on time. There was no door to open, rather you pulled a thick curtain back and you are immediately transported into a lovely French bistro. You are greeted by a host to confirm your reservation and then seated. Several people waited on us in English. Our menu was also in English. We decided to do the tasting menu with wine pairing. We were not disappointed. Every single dish was not only a beautiful presentation, but it was seasoned perfectly and tasted divine. The service was also super attentive and friendly! My husband and I both agreed that this was by far the best meal we’ve ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant and even though the price point was on the higher end, it was absolutely worth every single euro!

Not worth it, don’t even waste your money. Food is mediocre and overpriced. Chef was offended when we asked if the fish could be cooked a bit more (undercooked) and denied that it was. Not too much going on in Cologne in terms of French cuisine, which explains why they even got two Michelin stars. I’ll take a trip to France to get better French cuisine. Meh.

A fun and delicious place to visit, especially with kids! You get to taste plenty of chocolate and learn all about cocoa beans — where they grow, how they’re harvested, and how chocolate is made. It’s interesting to see the differences between various types of chocolate, and the exhibits explain everything in an engaging way. Overall, it feels a bit like a big promotional pavilion for Lindt — but the chocolate is truly delicious, so it’s easy to forgive :)

The museum was amazing. I went there with a friend, and you start with an interesting information room about where cacao actually comes from and how it is harvested. When you enter, you’re also offered a few pieces of chocolate, which taste amazing. After that, you go to an actual factory where they produce fresh chocolate, and you can get a small piece to try. It tasted amazing and smelled wonderful. You can also buy freshly made chocolate there. At the end, upstairs, there is a nice showroom with interesting displays of old chocolate packaging. When exiting, there is a small shop where you can buy chocolate as well. In conclusion, it was an amazing experience and I would recommend it to everyone.

I had a wonderful time at the chocolate museum. Plenty of rooms with easy-going info about the origins of chocolate, cocoa, its processing, packaging, transport, and commercialization. You can see in loco a section of a production line and taste a sample of chocolate. Also some interesting historical info on where it all began. It is a great museum for families, kids or only adults. plenty of games and experiments for the young folks. I was so entertained that I almost forgot to take photos. If you are in town don’t miss this museum.

Very easy to find. The kids had so much fun. The cafe was lovely. We had some hot chocolate, cakes and some avocado toasts. Will definitely visit again when we return to Germany

It was really a great experience to visit Lindy Chocolate Museum. We booked the chocolate tasting session in advance. It was really a good experience to attend the session to understand the history of chocolate and taste different phases of chocolate. In the small factory we can see a small version of the chocolate factory and the lane. Our kids really enjoyed the overall experience.

Visited the Lindt Chocolate Museum and took the basic tasting option along with the museum tour. Honestly I was expecting a bit more from the tasting experience, but it was still nice to learn about chocolate and find out how it’s made. The exhibits were interesting and the whole place is amazing for chocolate lovers. Overall it was a nice experience.

The beer, atmosphere, and service were excellent. The schnitzel was also delicious, but the lack of sauce made it feel a bit dry. Beer is served in a standard 20cl glass, but if you finish it, they automatically bring you a new one. If you don't want one, just let them know.

A true taste of German gastronomy. The meal was hearty and filling — tender meat, potatoes, dumplings, apple sauce, and rich thick gravy. The highlight was the local beer on tap, smooth with a slight sweetness, perfectly matching the food. The ambiance felt like an old German tavern, warm and lively with many patrons enjoying their time. A wonderful dining experience.

The staffs were very friendly and polite. The Kölsch were fresh and light. The pork knuckle was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The portion was huge, as expected, so we also ordered a salad to pair with the pork knuckle and it makes for a more balanced meal! All in all a good experience ☺️

My husband and I spent a night in Köln before heading to Amsterdam and we found that typical German restaurant after visiting the cathedral. What a jewel! It's more like a museum than a brewery, full of church relics. I couldn't resist talking a bunch of pictures. Even the WC resembles a dungeon in a castle. They kept bringing this delicious beer in small glasses and we shared a dish called Brauhauspfanne. First class service, all waiters were lovely and smiling. Even the manager was nice. By the end of the evening, we were very glad we found that place. We returned to our hotel, with a full tummy, spirits elevated, and a million dollars sensation.

I tried the roasted pork knuckle, which was decent. I was hoping for a crispier skin, similar to the roasted pork, but it wasn’t quite as satisfying. The flavour was good, and the mashed potatoes were delicious. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, but it’s a bit confusing inside. Perhaps it’s because it’s in an old building, the bathroom smell was a bit funky. The server was very busy and took a while to bring us our water and condiments, but maybe that’s just the pace in Cologne?

Do not eat here, bad food, bad service. First off we were greeted by the crankiest waiter, kids were screaming and running around the terrace and knocking into chairs while doing it for at least 10 minutes until they left. We then ordered the potatosoup, the schweinschnitzel and the ofenfrischer schweinebraten. The schnitzel should not have been called a schnitzel - this was the fattest clump of meat ever, not thin at all and very greasy, very small for what a schnitzel should be in Germany (yesterday we ate somewhere where it was at least twice as big, whilst being cheaper). The bread served with the potatosoup was burnt and the ofenfrischer schweinebraten was too dry to chew, with the sauce being gloopy and relatively cold. (We did not have to pay for this after discussing it with the manager, since we did not even eat more than 3 bites.) Drinks were ok, fries were fine, soup was fine... just not outstanding in the slightest. Not worth the effort not the price.

The food was really good, not sure why this place only has 4.3 stars, because it was tender, full of taste, great potatoes, full package! The beer was also really good and even though it was middle of the day, the staff was working super quick and smooth. It's super close to the cathedral, so when you come to Cologne, it's easy to find and good to sit down and rest. I would really recommend this place, we had a great time and great beer there!

Wonderful restaurant. The waiters are older gentlemen who are kind and good with the speed of service. The food was very good and delicious. The pork knuckle with fried bacon potatoes was exquisite, a must try. It was much bigger than I expected but worth the money and fantastic. Mind that after 5:30PM, it gets crowded with long queues outside, as this is a super popular place. Atmosphere is mid but the tasty food and staff make up for it. Enjoy.

We had a great evening. The kölsch was quite good but sadly they don't brew it themselves (apparently they used to make beer back in the days but not anymore). Apple strudel was quite good. Highly recommend making a reservation beforehand.

Likewise, the diners - everyone pleased with their meals. This was brauhaus number three, for me, and it compared favourably. Recommend.

its actually impressively good! i really liked the food and the atmosphere is quite cool. all deserts are literally magnificent and the main dishes that my family ordered were really good:) the sausages are also very good!! really recommend.

Welcoming atmosphere with a less than 10min wait around 1930 on a Monday evening. Service was ok but had an odd interaction with one waiter who seemed to refuse to get me a custard with my apple strudel even though I ordered it along with the ice cream and whipped cream, thought he was joking at first but it did not come. After 10mins managed to get the attention of our main waiter who realised it was missing and got it right away. But not a reason to not give 5 stars as food was very nice with generous portions. Had the halve Hahn for starters, beef with raisin sauce and dumplings and turkey for mains, apple strudel and windbeute for dessert. Very nice decor. Definitely recommend.

A traditional restaurant, worth trying if you want to experience local food for the first time. What you should know is that German cuisine is heavy, so it depends on your taste. In one word, we liked it.

It was quite nice, i had a lounge ticket, the food and booze was really good although i wished they had a better strategy managing the crowd getting inside, the lines were crazy, also most of the staff were pretty much clueless about everything. On more thing that made me wonder was that i was there for TØP concert and they were playing Imagine Dragons and other bands outside which i find weird, also that the other venues had really nice Posters and everything hanging outside, they did not really have anything, for a fully sold concert!!!! But overall the sound and the whole technical experience was great.

Surely one of the best arenas in Germany for sports, concerts and large live events. Parking spaces available at a fee. Very good acoustics and stage show. The real weakness is the catering concept inside the arena. There are various stores with soft drinks and coffee etc. inside the arena. Unfortunately most of the offered food is fast food. This is not pleasant during events over several days. At the same time, it is forbidden to bring your own (healthy) food. Sometimes there were additional stores with alternative food outside the hall . However, this probably depends on the event. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Some of the catering stores closed already before the event ended. Within the arena, the view is very goof from all sides of the "Unterrang". There were are also enough large screens.

A great place to watch concerts! We saw Sting 3.0 in October 25 and it was amazing! All clean and organized, plenty of personnel to support and orient! Acoustics is really good and the in and out were really fast!

Great stadium. Easy walking to/from city centre. Easily signposted which entrance to use. I was a bit disappointed with the security, would have preferred tighter checks - just a quick handbag check for me, nothing for my husband. Great design internally so there's not too many people using the same staircase. We had the highest seats but still a great view. Didn't buy any food/drink so can't comment.

An amazing arena to enjoy the EHF handball final four. The place works like a perfect engine. Sound is perfect and easy to understand. Seats rather uncomfortable is some areas. The technical suport amazing. Prices are quite high but not much different than places outside the arena (which are only a few)

Fantastic experience. The facility is modern, efficient and comfortable. The effort made to generate a heghtened sense of excitement before the game was first class. Attention to inviting fan engagement via video highlights was also welcomed. Note: There can be some line of sight issues when viewing a hockey game.. this results from the presence of protective railings at 600 and 700 seat levels.

Overall good, but.. our group had 12 tickets in lodge; whole lodge was 16 seats; And it was 18 people inside! Somehow catering was for 6 persons only, and those 2 random persons were first in our lodge, and as a result part of our group didn’t get some of the food. I hope it will be investigated. Just to be clear: we had random people in our lodge before, but didn’t complain, because they entered right when concert started and didn’t bother us.

Absolutely fantastic for food, beer and laughs. They are very friendly here and make you feel like you’re friends from the get-go. Very good for English-speaking tourists as they speak better English than most people I know (myself included). I would also highly recommend the bratwurst here as very good!

Very popular restaurant as it's very close to the cathedral. Excellent Kolsch on tap and German traditional food. If there are 3 or 4 of you, ask for the House Platter - contains 2 pork knuckle joints and sausages with potatoes and sauerkraut. Superb!

The service was excellent and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The meatballs and Früh salad were absolutely delicious, and the location is fantastic. I definitely recommend this place!

We came here twice in two years. The first time was a great local experience that made us want to go back even this trip. It was not good! The atmosphere and service great as always but the food ruined the rest of the day for us. Nobody of our group digested the sausages, everyone with the same "simtoms", something was not ok! What a shame, but enough not to come back, unfortunately.

Food was very ordinary, especially the schnitzel. Sides and beer was good. Service was also good. Nice atmospheric restaurant near the River.

The food was just good. Nothing over the top, but tasty and comforting. We had a lovely spot along the boulevard, and it was nice and quiet, which really added to the experience. The service was friendly and relaxed, exactly how you'd want it. I had a stew with Potato noodles. The raisins gave it a sweet twist that worked surprisingly well. All in all, a really pleasant evening.

If you are searching for a lovely salad, after lots of heavy German food on your travels, go here! Delicious salad with piled high greens and lovely goat medallions with a honey drizzle and candied walnut atop. The dressing is simple and not as overdressed as most salads seem to be. The staff is super friendly. I loved it so much I came back two nights in a row. And I ordered the latkes on the second visit which were sublime. I recommend to come here if you’re visiting or even living in Köln.

After showing me the bill, the waiter on the terrace added a tip during the card payment without even asking me. That’s unacceptable — I only realized it when I looked at the receipt after asking him for it! I would have gladly left something myself, but after this, I won’t be going back. I strongly recommend everyone double-check what they’re being charged when paying by card.

Nice riverside location for this german-style restaurant. Fast service, did not have to wait for long. Food was pretty nice, i had the stewed beef in raisin sauce and homemade pasta. The pasta was unusual, thick noodles that seemed to have been lightly fried. Beef stew really benefited from the accompanying apple sauce that gave it a bit of sweetness. They will ask for the tip.

What a great place to eat along the river. The Pott Roast was delicious!

I had an amazing experience at Brauerei zur Malzmühle! This historic brewery offers an authentic Cologne atmosphere with a cozy and lively setting. The service was friendly and efficient, even though the place was quite busy. The Kölsch beer here is one of the best I’ve had—fresh, crisp, and served the traditional way. The food was fantastic, with hearty portions of classic German dishes. The location is great, just a short walk from the city center, making it perfect for tourists and locals alike. If you’re looking for an authentic Cologne brewery experience with great beer and food, Malzmühle is the place to go!

Enjoyed a late lunch and kolsch beer at this 170 year old brewery. It was busy but seated immediately. The kolsch flows as it should in Cologne. The large currywurst was just that large. Excellent flavor sausage with sauce and thick fries. The gnocchi was in a rich tomato sauce with perfect seasoning and spicy. It was a wonderful stop.

My 5th brauhaus experience and the best. However, that might just be because it was a Saturday night and even some locals said that the live music was an unexpected bonus. SUPER busy, but they kept me watered while I waited and I ended up sharing a table with a lovely couple. As per every brauhaus, the food is tasty, comes quickly, and is a good portion. Also, reasonable value for money. Table service is a lovely thing, and was both efficient and friendly. Highly recommended!

Each dish is a true masterpiece. Service is impeccable, and the chef visiting the table to share the story behind the dish proves that 2-Michelin-star dining doesn’t need to feel pretentious. A highlight is the tribute to the city: the “Halve Hahn” course, leaving you with the taste of a Kölsch Brauhaus presented in a way you’ve never experienced before. The vegetarian menu is equally outstanding, and even those driving can enjoy a non-alcoholic pairing that complements each dish like an integral ingredient — perfectly in line with the philosophy of the Art of Taste. Add to that a beautiful setting, and this was the easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given.

The food was incredible! Overall, it was a great experience. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food and wine were excellent. It’s definitely an expensive dinner, but you can really feel the investment and the attention to detail.

First of all, this is the longest dining experience you’ll ever undertake so be forewarned. Well deserved two Michelin stars. One seating per night, 12+ tasting course menu w or wo wine pairing. We did the wine pairing and honestly it was too much. The chef takes you on a sensory journey for all the senses. My videos are better, but I guess Google reviews does not allow videos. My pics do not do it justice! The ticket starts promptly at 6:30. Super cool space and only about 12 tables. You will be blown away by each course. A couple of tiny misses at the end but at nearly midnight, many dishes and many glasses of wine later, we didn’t care. With wine and tip it will set you back about a grand for two people. So worth it IMO

My first dinner at a Michelin star restaurant. What an experience! The room is very modern but also really cozy. We had the great opportunity to dine at the chef's table where you can watch the guys work in the kitchen. The staff is super nice and casual. The menu was on point. Great mix of modern and traditional techniques. Each course was exciting and tasty. Wine pairing was really good. Great evening. Can't wait to come back one day.

This was our 3rd time at Ox&Klee, every time we go we think we know what to expect. But it really is an „experience tasting“, every time is so different, each course is mind blowingly tasty and surprising. What we love most about this place is that you can let them know up front what foods you don’t like, they accommodate any wishes without being annoyed about it. I opted for first time for fully vegeterian to be on the safe side and I do not miss out on the different tastes and textures that are designed for everyone else. The wine accompanied has been chosen carefully and works perfectly. Last but not least, the staff is delightful and this place is just so open minded for being so „posh“. Simply can only love.

One of the best experiences in my life. After being in some German restaurants in the Michelin guide I had dissapointment after dissapointment. Ok & Klee is different, Ox & Klee is playing in the Spanish 3 michelin star world, and I would compare it with Disfrutar, Diverxo or El Celler de Can Roca. The chef, Daniel is a genius and his creativity is unbelievable. Same can be said about the wines, very original concept going from the old to the new world. Service was incredible too. So to sum up, I think this might be the best restaurant in Germany and I would reserve as soon as possible. Thanks Daniel and team, because you managed to make us have one of the best nights in our life!

The 165th anniversary of Cologne Zoo is celebrated with evergreen content: dinosaurs. But also with a Panini sticker album. So, if you want to give your children a treat, buy the Dino kombi ticket with the sticker album. Do so online to jump the queue on site. I highly recommend to also book the Dino VR experience in advance - it is a ten minute visual aid (in coop with local VR hero TimeRide) and adds to the animatronics dinos scattered throughout the park. Otherwise, the 14 dinos add a nice distraction to the regular inhabitants of the lovely zoo. Some are animated, others really huge. One of the oldest zoos of Germany sports some nice attractions but also undergoes some considerable refurbishments. Some areas are closed off, others are currently under construction (giraffe house). But some historic buildings (old elephant house) surely add to the flavor. We paid €98 for two adults and 2 kids. So plan to bring your healthy snacks and drinks with you, otherwise better top up your Amex ;)

Although zoos are not my favorite place to travel, this zoo surprised me. Animal rights were relatively respected and different and rare animals were collected in this zoo. I saw the Iranian cheetah, an endangered animal, for the first time in this zoo. It was a completely different experience from the zoos I had seen in Asia and Europe. I had it here.

An incredibly expansive and intricate zoo, with an insane amount of different areas and habitats to visit. Definitely reserve at least a few hours to complete a full loop of the zoo! I've never seen so many of certain animals before, namely the meerkats. Gate staff are also super friendly and speak English which makes it easy.

Wonderful zoo and perfect size to walk around and see everything. My children loved the feeding sessions for the seals and otters and we really enjoyed our day. The animals are looked after well and I would come again and recommend to family and friends.

Have been there again after a long time, it seems most animals kept well,they have more space now and look ok. Only the see through pool of the hippopotamus had an eco problem and was very cloudy,which was why they weren't fed for the public. The ant eater looked bored and moved repetitive. I liked the space of the cheetah which looked very natural. Entrance is expansive,but if you buy tickets online you get a daily free ticket for public transport

The Cologne Zoo is very small. The elephant house and fake dinosaurs take up most of the space. The zoo is a dreary, bleak, and absolutely ugly place, captivating depressed animals. It's truly awful, giving an abandoned desolated and apocalyptic area. Anyone who doesn't feel pity for them probably won't feel anything else either. Every enclosure is super tiny. A lot of animals were also not there. The tropical house was closed, as well as every snack bars except one.. on a weekend.

An exceptional zoo experience! The enclosures are spacious and well-maintained, with a great variety of animals from around the world. Highlights included the elephant park, rainforest house, and impressive aquarium. The layout is easy to navigate, with plenty of shaded areas and rest spots. Educational, family-friendly, and clearly committed to conservation—highly recommended for visitors of all ages!

What a place! Huge park with an extraordinary amount of plants from all over the world. Beautifully taken care of. The flowers looked marvelous even in the August heat. A very calm place in the heart of a busy metropolis, I highly recommend it!

What an amazing spacious garden. It was quite a walk from the Cologne’s Cathedral but it was really worth it. The leaves were changing color and you can see just how pretty and lively the colors are. I could spend a whole day just chilling and enjoying the nature here. Shame the greenhouse was under renovation so I couldn’t get in but I’d love to one day come back during summer and see how green and amazing the flowers look like.

A truly peaceful and enjoyable place, definitely worth a visit in Cologne. Entrance is free, and you’ll find plants, flowers, and trees from all around the world. The gardens are beautifully maintained, with plenty of benches where you can sit, read a book, study, or simply relax and enjoy nature. The Café Restaurant inside the garden is also worth a stop, offering tasty dishes and interesting presentations that make the visit even more delightful. The only downside was that many of the indoor greenhouses were closed for renovation. Hopefully, they will reopen soon, which will make the experience even better. Overall, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a calm and refreshing break surrounded by nature. 🌿✨

Lovely botanical garden to walk around. The garden has different areas so you can see the tropical plants in the hot houses (though they aren't open to enter yet), the formal planted area, and more foresty areas. There are also some nice fountains and a cafe with a big outdoor terrace. There is no charge to enter the gardens. From the tram station you can walk through the outside of the zoo to get there.

This is a beautiful garden that is peaceful and perfect for a breath of fresh air and nature. There are essentially no tourists. There are tons of flowers ans trees with short descriptions about each plant's breed and original.

Very big and green park, great for families. There is a play area for kids and a steam train for kids. There is a nice cafe in the park which also allows for WC for 50 cents. The cafe surroundings are well maintained with pretty flower beds. The park has a nice view of the Rhein river overlooking the Cologne Cathedral. Pretty sunset view. Its a shame that the green grass lawn of the park was full of dog poo and we had to be very careful on grass not to stamp it. Overall the park is nice and its worth visiting it.

Rheinpark Cologne is an absolute gem! This sprawling park offers something for everyone and is a must-visit when in Cologne. The views across the Rhine River towards the Cologne Cathedral and the old city are simply breathtaking – perfect for photos or just soaking in the scenery. What I loved most was the sheer variety of things to do. You can take leisurely strolls or bike rides along the well-maintained paths, enjoy a picnic on the expansive lawns, or simply relax and watch the boats go by. There are also dedicated areas for sports, including beach volleyball courts and skate parks, making it a great place for active individuals. For families, Rheinpark is fantastic. There are multiple playgrounds that cater to different age groups, keeping the little ones entertained for hours. The miniature railway is also a delightful experience for children (and adults!). The park is beautifully landscaped with vibrant flowerbeds, mature trees providing ample shade, and even a Japanese garden offering a tranquil escape. It's clear that a lot of care and attention goes into maintaining this space. Throughout the year, Rheinpark also hosts various events and festivals, adding to its appeal. Even on a regular day, the atmosphere is lively and welcoming. Accessibility is also a strong point, with plenty of entrances and good public transport links. Overall, Rheinpark Cologne is a fantastic urban oasis that provides a welcome respite from the city bustle. Whether you're a local or a tourist, spending time in this park is a truly enjoyable experience. Highly recommended!

Gruber's was an invitation for a business 3-course dinner. The place is a sophisticated setting, ideal for a professional gathering. Upon arrival, we were impressed by the elegant atmosphere and the attentive service. The 3-course dinner menu offered a range of exquisite dishes, and we were pleased to find that the cuisine was expertly prepared and presented. Each dish was cooked to perfection, with flavours and textures that complemented each other beautifully. The wine selection was also a great addition to the palate, with a variety of options that paired seamlessly with the meal. Throughout the evening, the staff were courteous and efficient, ensuring that our needs were met and that the dinner progressed smoothly. Overall, Gruber's proved to be an excellent choice for a business dinner, providing a refined and comfortable environment in which to engage in meaningful discussions and build relationships.

If I could, I would add another star. The service was amazing 👏 The concept was refreshing, and the food was truly exceptional. It was an all in all fabulous gastronomical experience.

Grateful I was let in in the sweaty, joggy state i was in, expecting a tavern and not an upscale restaurant. Fantastic Wiener Schnitzel

The food and the service were good. But the atmosphere should be different. You are directly seeing the open kitchen. Maybe thats OK. But the smell of the inside of restaurant was horrible. The entire restaurant area smelled like dishwater. We asked if a window could be opened, but they told us the windows couldn’t be opened because they were locked. If the drinks hadn’t already arrived, we would have left, but we had to wait, eat quickly, and leave.

Opting for the three-course menu, I was treated to an array of delectable dishes that left a lasting impression. The soup-broth with its unique noodles was an absolute delight, and the Austrian schnitzel paired with potatoes was a mouthwatering experience. The final touch came in the form of a mango-infused tiramisu dessert that perfectly balanced sweetness. The only downside was the slightly steep price of 41€ for the three-course meal per person. However, the quality of the food and the overall experience certainly justified the cost. I'm looking forward to returning for another memorable meal!

Never had a better schnitzel. Perfect example of how to make sophisticated food out of popular, "cheap" dishes - but there is nothing cheap about it here, ingredients are top notch, wine selection great, portions hefty, even bread is a whole wonderful dish of its own. Haven't had a meal this good in years. Bit on a pricey side, but worth it.

Lovey food and ambience at this slightly out-of-centre take on an Austrian hilltop brasserie in a leafy suburban setting. A 15-minute walk from central station you enter a different vibe - more residential, perhaps a uni quarter, and quieter than the city centre hubbub. The leafy terraces surrounding the restaurant add to the oasis-in-a-city vibe while the interior is a modern take on alpine hotel meets hotel library. Food was hands-down excellent. It was a light and refined take on classic dishes, with a real pride in the ingredients - all showing up in the taste. We had the 6 course tasting menu and it was a mix of surprises and pleasure at the interpretation of things we thought we knew. The service was fantastic with the waiter covering wine, food history and any else with a real humour. Prices surprised us as being on the cheaper side of expectation give the quality. Worth a detour from the city centre for.

Huge portion of food (and the food was delicious!), excellent and VERY friendly staff, the beer was great as well! The waiter even took the time to explain Köln brewery customs / rules to us, which was very kind. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Really liked the overall experience! They let us in after 30 mins because it was too full, but totally worth it! This food portions were insanely big so I recommend sharing a plate with someone else if you eat like a normal person, but if you come hungry then for yourself! The schnitzel was absolutely amazing and would go back to eat another one, and might be for myself only. Part of the staff was a bit rude (considering we were tourists and only one in the table spoke German) but the guy who attended us was extremely nice. The beer was cold and delicious. We lucked out finding this spot—just a short 15-minute walk from the cathedral, and it was worth every step. Proper German food, huge menu, the kind where you stop counting after a while. Stuff like pork knuckle with pea purée, rump steak with fried potatoes, Wiener schnitzel, veal roulade, Sauerbraten made with horse meat, pork fillet with mushrooms, Kasseler neck with green beans, goulash with dumplings, and even giant bratwurst. On top of that, the Tuesday potato pancakes baked with cheese were killer. The vibe is classic—dim, buzzing, with waiters keeping the Kölsch flowing until you cover your glass. For visitors, that’s a whole experience on its own. The food? Straight-up tasty. My steak was perfect, and those cheesy potato pancakes were next level. Cozy, loud in a good way, and super friendly staff. Felt like home the minute we sat down.

Found this after googling a German restaurant near me . Was a 5 minute walk. We arrived at 12.30pm and it was packed, they did have a small round table which they offered us as most people had booked. We ordered the Jägerschnitzel each , a glass of wine and a beer. The staff very friendly , food was delicious, the customers were mainly locals which is always a good sign. Would definitely return, but book next time, so we don't miss out.

We decided to try the Farmer’s Omelette and the Bratwurst Dinner, and both dishes were nothing short of exceptional. The omelette was fluffy, well-seasoned, and generously packed with fresh ingredients… the kind of hearty breakfast that feels like it was made with care. The Bratwurst Dinner, on the other hand, was the perfect example of comfort food done right. Juicy, flavorful bratwurst paired with French Fries which were perfectly crispy made it a meal to remember. A special mention must go to the oldest microbrewery in Cologne, Päffgen, which was recommended to us. It was our first time trying it, and what a treat it was! Crisp, refreshing, and full of character; a true Cologne gem that perfectly complemented our meal. We’re now fans for life. But what truly made the experience unforgettable was the outstanding service we received. Our server, Glenn, was an absolute star. Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about making sure we had a great time. He took time to explain the menu, offered thoughtful suggestions, and made us feel like honored guests rather than just customers. Glenn’s service was world-class and elevated the entire experience. In short, Max Stark delivered on every level: delicious, hearty food, delightful local beer, and the kind of customer service that sets a gold standard. Good Food but Terrible service ! Tourists ! Alert ! Don't ruin your day We did not have reservations, of course we queued. No problem However, others could come in anytime took the table and sure they did have reservations. Then, we finally get seated after waiting over 45mins. Once we seated, we were told we only have 45mins dinning time.....wowwwww Sure, it is a busy restaurant , but how come others can stay more than 1 hour ? Meanwhile, there are empty tables ? What the rush ? It is definitely a lovely resturant for its neighbourhood, but only not for the tourists. It was a very bad & upsetting experience... I read the reviews and found out other tourists had the same experience It makes me feel little bit better 😝😝 We are not alone😁

This was my first time in Germany. On my way to Köln, I started looking for places to eat some good local food without breaking the bank. Max Stark kept coming up and the great reviews and location settings made me want to try it. Unfortunately, I do not speak german either, just the very basics. When I got there, I luckily found that staff do speak English and are very accomodating. I had to wait 5 minutes to be seated, but they helped me all the way. My 1st real german Jägersnitzel was heavenly good. Just as a heads up, if you are in a large group, book a table online on their website. If you are in Köln, give them a try!

Worst car parking planning ever. You have 3 gates leading to two or one lane, making all the cars into queue. We spent 1 hour just trying to leave the park.

Good mall to have fun with. Its in the city and easily accessible by train station. I don‘t remember but it has free washrooms thats something better as compare train stations.

This is a hub of many restaurants and shops with different brands which is 1 minute walk to U bahn - Kalkpost. There is lot of parking place which is paid. You can fill up your complete boring day here roaming inside. There are more than enough food options available. Good place to spend alone or friends & family. First floor - clothing and apparel; underground with stationery and book shops; food shops all over. You can find center plan on the first floor and in the pics below my review 😉

It’s a big, modern shopping mall with almost all the major brands you can find in Cologne. But it’s very crowded and mostly filled with foreigners. It almost feels like you’ve stepped into Turkey — like walking through the streets of Istanbul, and you mostly hear Turkish being spoken.

We visited the Marvel exhibition and found it to be just okay. There were only a few truly engaging experiences — the Iron Man augmented reality section was fun, and my son really enjoyed it. It added some much-needed interactivity to the visit. The Marvel characters were also nice for taking photos. However, most of the exhibition relied heavily on reading and screens, it’s comic oriented, which felt more like browsing a website than attending a live event. In 2025, I expected a lot more immersive and interactive elements from a physical exhibition. Overall, it lacked the wow factor and innovation I was hoping for.

There's nothing to rate about the place itself beside that the staff was friendly and the parking fee was fair. We went to check the Marvel Exhibition which was disappointing to be honest. The whole thing could've been a website. Even my kid was disappointed and he's a huge fan. The only interactive and meaningful thing was an augmented reality Ironman suit up. My kid loves that. The other interesting thing was some kind of treasure hunt. After looking everywhere for the images to find them all, he got a cheap postcard as a prize at the gift shop. Very convenient as you'll have to try to erase the look of disappointment off your kid's face by buying him something. Good tactic. Is it worth it? No. Not for the price you're paying.

Ramses exibition contains very valuable artifects and it makes you feel like you are in Egypt. It is great to have the opportunity to visit it in Germany. Everything is well explained in both German and English. I liked the visual parts as well. As it was the first weekend it was very crowded, be ready to wait a bit longer at some points.

Nice but not big. We have been there for Marvel and it was OK.

We visited the Harry Potter exhibition in December 2023. Bought the tickets already in September to secure a spot in the afternoon. Parking in the underground space is comfortable (if you use easyPark app, you can enter and exit by having your license plate scanned). You find lockers before the entrance to the exhibition upstairs (save a 2 Euro piece as deposit). For the special exhibitions prices are usually steep - same for HP experience. If you take your time for each of the rooms, yoz can make the stay worthwhile. Still, it is pricy for approx 1h of entertainment. I would have expected a bit more reenactment from the hosts, but they presented the rooms nicely. The cool thing is that ypu receive an interactive wand at the entrance and you can activate exhibits in the show. Again, i would have loved to have some personalisation, i.e, that you make decisions that decide on which side you end up... My favorite was the Room of Requirements, my low the Knight Bus. There are some very nice surprises at the entrance and during the show, I would recommend it.

The tickets are sold out and it is recommended to book the ticket online beforehand. We wanted to book the EdutainmentTicket but it was sold out for a whole week. Finally we could only book the KennenlernTicket which is only 90 minutes. Normally, you should be a whole day here because there are so many things to see, to do for children and they all need time to explore.

Excellent, interactive science museum with various themes and lots of hands on stuff to do and some 3D cinema/live shows. Sometimes they have special exhibitions. Plenty to keep all the family interested although very young kids might bore easily. You need a certain level of German as not all of it is available in English. Loses a star for the restaurant that was quite poor and very pricy.

I arrived at this restaurant at 7 P. M. on a saturday and it was already full of people. As soon as I looked the waiter in the eyes to ask him how long would it take to get a table he handed me a beer without even asking me if I wanted it :) In the end I had to wait an hour and half to get a table and had to share it with two strangers. I had the pork chop, it was really big. Beers kept flowing in all night long, the waiter marked them on coaster. I didn't see any menù so in the end the check was a surprise and they don't even accept cards for payment. To make a long story short, it was a really strange and unique experience to eat in this restaurant :)

Truly a hidden gem! We went underground and the atmosphere there was lovely. Recommend trying kölsch with beef and potatoes, it’s really good. The single problem was that they accept only cash

My two local friends suggested that we end our recent pub crawl at this interesting location. It doesn't look much from the outside, but inside it was teeming with drinkers enjoying the beer, food and overall atmosphere. I would classify this as a really authentic, rough and ready Kölsch beer house. We descended into the bowels of this establishment where there were still a few tables free. Our larger than life Köbe was quick to serve us with what seemed like the obligatory Kölsch beer. No problem. I then went on to order their special pork chop which came with chips and fried onions. It was delicious. Eating and drinking in this cellar area was great except for one silly group of youngsters who insisted on shouting their heads off and playing stupid games. The oral confrontation that ensued lead to them leaving. It's rare that I complain but they were being really unreasonable. After they left we were able to conclude our evening in peace. All good.

It thrives on the aura of a glorious past under Lommi, a legendary innkeeper, and his beer-tapping wife, Annemie: despite the crowds, there was always room for everyone – and if so, it was on empty beer crates with a phone book on them! Today, however, it's simply lousy: unfriendly waiters, excessive arrogance in the condescending, gracious granting of free seats – you have to "make an appointment" at the bar, even though no one is waiting and there are seats available. Apparently, they don't need hospitality. It's best to leave after such poor treatment – ​​a real shame!

This place was one of the highlights of my trip to Koln. Unfortunately I discovered it the day before I left. The service was above and beyond, within a minute of entering we were in tears from laughter and still to this day we tell the stories of this pub. The beer was amazing as well as the food. I wish I could find a place like this close to home. I will definitely return when I'm in the area. Thank you for the memories

I visited Lommerzheim for the first time. Personally, I’m a big fan of Kölsch, German beers, and Rhineland cuisine but I haven’t experienced such disrespect in a long time. First of all, the staff is extremely inattentive. The place opens at 16:30, and there’s a line at the door. You’re seated according to the queue, but as you enter, no one greets you and none of the servers offer help. It’s a chaotic free-for-all whoever pushes hardest gets a seat. The staff only focuses on beer and service; order and hospitality seem to be irrelevant. We managed to get in without waiting too long, but once inside, no one welcomed us or showed us where to go. It was every person for themselves. While searching for a seat, I encountered a waiter carrying a keg. Naturally, I was about to give way, but instead he rudely shoved me aside with his hand and continued walking. I was going to let him pass, but he didn’t even give me the chance. The crowd inside is incredibly rude. No one makes room, and going to the restroom feels like a crisis. We barely found a table, and I noticed people who couldn’t find seats just standing awkwardly around others’ tables. After observing such poor service and behavior and even getting shoulder-checked by a few German patrons I had no choice but to leave without sitting down. I’ve never seen so many rude people in one place. The beer is excellent we managed to grab one while standing and I’m sure the food is great too. But I wouldn’t recommend visiting a place with such hostility and lack of restaurant culture. Instead, head toward Heumarkt and find a spot there. Let our rude, unhelpful, and strictly non-English-speaking German friends enjoy Lommerzheim on their own.

Quite an experience! Once you sit down, the waiter brings you a glass of cold beer without placing an order. Once you’ve almost finished your first glass, the second is placed on your table. Until you say no or place the paper coaster to cover your glass. The beer is typical Kölsch, which is very refreshing, light, with a subtle sweetness. The food is tasty too. Not too much choices. But the pork knuckle I ordered was crispy outside, tender and juicy inside. Very flavorful and large portion. The price is reasonable. Will definitely come back.

Such an amazing experience. With English tour guide we dived into the magic of scents and essential oils. We loved the tour and recommend it to anyone visiting Cologne!

The English language tour of this museum is fantastic. I enjoyed seeing the laboratory and study space of the researchers from the past. There is so much detail conveyed. And the best part was being able to guess the fragrant smells and blends from the laboratory area of the building. Now I have a small bottle of the Cologne scent which I will treasure. Our tour guide Annie was fantastic.  I think that she was the best tour guide I had in all of Germany. She was fun, engaging and thoroughly answered all of our questions. I recommend wholeheartedly.😍

The English tour was such a delight! I found out so many interesting and cool facts about perfume making. The history of Farina is fascinating.

The Farina Haus Museum was an amazing experience! As a fan of perfumery, I found it incredibly interesting and insightful. The exhibits were engaging, and I learned so much about the art and history of fragrance. A must-visit for anyone who loves perfumes or is curious about the world behind them.

I would only recommend to visit this museum. Via the Wes site you can book guided tour which costs nothing vs the satisfaction of the knowledge you get. Absolutely worth to visit and try Parfums from Cologne! Guide women was speaking different languages and entertained us with interesting stories and experiences.

This was a nice quick visit to the first place to invent the perfume called water of Cologne. The staff was engaging and helpful. There is an option museum presentation in multiple languages with times posted. This isn’t a long visit, but more of an interesting visit to a nice perfume store.

A little gem of an attraction, definitely not to miss while at Cologne! Visited within the english guided tour (approx. 90 min) and it was more than just a pleasant occurrence. An immersive experience into the world of fragrances since 1709. Quite the history, quite the storytelling as well. Fun, engaging, informative - go for it! 🙌🏼

Absolutely loved our dinner experience at Weinhaus. Tony our server was entertaining and took wonderful care of us! We both took the house recommendation of the Goose, and had some wonderful German wine and beer. Very authentic and a beautiful dining room. Check out the basement!

We had our best meal of our trip here. I had the deer goulash with red cabbage and spatzle. My partner had the cheese and onion Spatzle with salad. The food was delicious and the service was great. Would definitely recommend this place.

The people who work here are extremely kind and often helpful specifically to my sis who has food allergies. Reserve a table to prevent disappointment, they may be busy occasionally but especially at weekends. The staff here are good and generally offer to help my brother choose what to eat! We are actually regulars. Wide range of drink and food, definitely something for everyone. Will be returning again, really liked our meal And Not too costly.

It's a great restaurant and that's probably why it's always so crowded. You can't go wrong with any dish you choose, everything was great. The staff were helpful and super friendly. The restaurant was cozy and comfortable. Definitely worth a visit if you're ever in town. Authentic, delicious German cuisine.

Hello. We came here twice and had the best time. The food was fantastic. I had the schnitzel the first evening and then the beef cheek the second. The service was amazing and we were made to feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble!

Characterful venue with plentiful outdoor seating for when the weather allows. Weinhaus Brungs serves excellent and authentic local cuisine. The staff are polite and attentive. Located in a quiet side street minutes from the Rathaus and riverside. Highly recommended.

We did not have a reservation but we got a table for two. It was lovely and relaxing and no blaring music in the background it was a real treat to be able to speak to each other when out for a meal with no background noise only the other diners talking. Hands down, the #1 pizza place in Cologne. This is a hidden gem 💎 since it’s far away from the city center. Italians, come here for an authentic taste of home. Non italians, this is where you’ll find the real deal pizza.

One of the best pizza margheritas I've ever come across. Cooked in a proper stone oven, with a thin,crispy dough, a generous spread of mozzarella cheese and a fresh tomato sauce. Can't expect more. And the place is small but cosy, colourful and pretty happening.

FANTASTIC PIZZA! One of the best I've ever eaten. Excellent dough and other fresh ingredients. The restaurant is small, but the service is excellent. Pizza is always prepared very quickly. I highly recommend it to everyone. If I ever go back to Cologne, than to IL FUTURO, of course, too. Congratulations to italian chef! :)

Prices are cheap and food was good! Both pasta and pizza were delicious. However, it's a pretty small shop with only a few seats.

Great location, nice system to check in online. On the other side - our wall had holes in it around the door - the entire room was proper gross - there was only 1 water source, in the bathroom - anyone can open your room door with a simple link Before we went, we saw a lot of people complain about noise, but that was a non-issue, the hotel even delivered earbuds as well.

Spent a night in this hotel. The whole experience was lovely, the receptionist was so helpful and friendly. The room exceeded our expectations; it was nice, spacious, and very clean. Room service in the evening and breakfast were good. Thanks to all for making our experience very memorable. We will definitely be staying here again.

Pretty unpleasant experience for the following reasons: 1. Sonderbar, a nightclub, is next door and EXTREMELY loud. Hope you like wearing earplugs or noise canceling headphones when you sleep. The Sonderbar in Cologne, you can look them up on google maps, lies about their hours, claiming to be open from 9 am - 5 pm (their hours are closer to 4 pm - 5 am). You only get quiet shortly after 5 am. 2. You have to use a “smartlock” system to open your door. You click a link on a website to open your door. All fine and dandy until the link lags out / the connection is poor. I had to wait out a 10 min lag once to get inside the hotel and then wait out another 10 min lag to get into my room. 3. Sanitation is pretty gross. There are communal bathrooms by floor, but just the toilet is communal. The sink and soap is in your room. Thats a lot of walking and opening / closing doors without washing your hands. If you are European, you may not care about this one, as European sanitation standards are lax by American standards anyways. If you are American, you will certainly care. Avoid this place and pay a little more to get a quieter, more pleasant sleep somewhere else.

Booked the double twin room 6 (with your own toilet, didn’t fancy sharing) with my wife for one night in July 2022. Pros: 1) comfy bed. Price maybe? That’s it! Cons: 1) auto check-in via mobile phone was difficult especially if you don’t speak German. No other language options. We used Google translate camera on my wife’s phone to translate. 2)room extraordinary hot. No air con and leaving windows open only lets in the noise. Wondered why we had been given complimentary earplugs. To tone down the noise as there was a drunken homeless guy shouting at top of his voice outside hotel from 1.30am for a good hour! I bet he’s there most nights! 3)pillows were extremely uncomfortable 4)shower was a hand held spray from mixer tap. 5)TV not working (looked like it hadn’t worked for a while) 6)no safe so carry passports/cash with you. 7)no kettle and coffee/tea making facilities 8)no reception. All via email/WhatsApp. 9)the steps to room are very steep. There’s an elevator once you’ve climbed and dragged the suitcases up the initial 21 steps So for approx €96 a night, if you’re looking for a quaint old room experience then this is for you. But if you’re looking for a good night’s sleep and a revitalising shower in the morning to set you off for the day ahead, avoid this place and pay the same or not much more on much better.

This was probably the worst eating experience I ever had. The vegetables were overcooked, it was too salty and it tasted like a microwavemeal you would get in a hospital. When I said something about it, the waiter didn't apologize but offered me a new plate. The meal was still on the bill, even tho I barely ate it. Besides that, water was 6.5 euros! Would not recommend at all.

I stayed here for about a week in March 2010. I was travelling alone and wanted to feel safe, plus be in a central, scenic location. This place was perfect for me. The staff were all very accommodating. The breakfast and coffee included with the room rate was always very good and there was a nice variety of items on the breakfast bar. The hotel/restaurant is right on the scenic Fischmarkt square which overlooks the Rhine. I got a single room with shower (shared toilet in the hall was small but tolerable), and the large window provided a nice view of the square. It is a historic old building; I think it is an original building. So of course there are creaks & narrow staircases etc, but this just adds character. As for the TV sets another reviewer complained about, they were old & crappy but I wasn't there to watch tv, so no matter. The management mentioned to that reviewer, that they have since decided to replace all the old TVs, so that should no longer be an issue for those who need a good TV. I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay there again next time I return to Köln. If I were not travelling alone, I would aim for a larger room, perhaps with a bathroom/toilet in the room; I think they have some rooms with ensuite bathrooms. My room was specifically a single, and was a perfect size for one person to be comfortable for a week. I recommend getting a room facing the Fischmarkt plaza/river if possible, however, if noise from activity at the tables in front of the hotel/restaurant is likely to be a bother, then ask for a room not facing the plaza. There is plenty of activity going on outside, especially in the evenings, as this is a very popular location. Smoke will flow in from the tables below if you have the windows open on a busy evening. Another point to take note of is, this building is historic & very pretty too from the outside, and it appears on many if not all the local walking tour maps. Remember to shut the curtains if you're not dressed & or risk being caught indecent in some tourist's photos, because people take photos of this pretty building all day long. Also, it can be a little weird upon arrival having to go up the spiral iron staircase with luggage, which is located right in the front dining area. Don't be discouraged by that. It stops feeling weird once you get to the floors with the rooms. I strongly recommend this hotel for the ambience, location & hospitality of the staff. It's nice spending a leisurely morning at or after breakfast, with a pot of coffee at the tables out in front, just watching the activity on the plaza & view of the Rhine while preparing for the day. I haven't tried other meals there besides the breakfast, so I can't comment on their lunch & dinner, but from what I saw it looked like it does a good business.

I used this hotel severeal times so far. Last time after I got my baggage, which contained my passport, stolen right before the departure fron Koln central station, I asked this hotel for help, as I remembered that I had experienced hospitality there before. Staying at this hotel for a week, all the staffs always treated my very kindly, and I finally could leave Germany leagally with a new passport. I love Germany and I love Koln in so many ways, and this hotel is surely one of the reasons why.

Fantastic experience. From start to finish, we enjoyed the multi course tasting menu. All dishes were great. Service is knowledgeable and kind. They even dealt in a very professional way with two extremely annoying patrons which complained about just everything.

What an incredible lunch! Food which was inventive, complex yet simple, and generally a party for the eyes and the mouth. There is nothing that beats a delicious meal accompanied by amazing wine combinations. But not only the chef should be complimented, being served by 2 amazing woman which were passioned and knew what they were selling. Well done! I will be back :)

French inspired, but fairly contemporary 1-star restaurant. Very strong menu using a lot of great product. Overall great experience. The tuna with caviar was amazing, worth getting it as an extra (one portion is enough for two). Nice wine selection and good service. The place itself is ok but not amazing. Nevertheless, very recommended.

Lovely restaurant hidden in not-so-obvious area of Cologne. Top-notch food while what made our evening was the sommelier - attentive, highly knowledgeable and offering beautiful, well paired wines. Both the sommelier and the lady overseeing the dining area made it fully up for one slightly grumpy waiter.

A extravagant parade of food is elegantly placed in front of your eyes, turn by turn with each course complimenting the next like a beautiful waltz. I’ve never seen such a hidden gem in cologne. Service is like being a monarch placed in a Babylonian palace. There is no ill words in which I can utter, only advice for those to seek to enter this fine establishment…. Enter with trust in the wisdom of the fantastics chefs, every meal is sure to pair finely with your taste. Truly a Michelin star well deserved ❤️

Genuinely friendly and cosy restaurant that has a very "family & friends" feel about it. From the first greeting with a genuine handshake, the host, waitstaff and kitchen team all interact in a proactive and positve way with each other and their guests. In short, you feel that they genuinely care about their customers and their one goal is for you to have a great time... and we did. The quality of the food was outstanding, the suggested pairing of wines by the bottle and glass - exceptional. Every meal was delivered by one a of the kitchen staff, volunteering an explanation of each ingredient and happy to answer any questions. The host was assisted by the most delightful waitress and between them they ensured that our birthday dinner went smoothly and seamlessly. Nothing was too much trouble and they were happy to modify and accommodate variations to their set menu options for us. Ambience is ...quirky.. but fun, as is the background music. They told us it changes regularly so you may experience something different to the past and present pictures. In Summary, we have been fortunate enough to have experienced a range of eateries, from 1 and 2 Michelin Star fine dining through to casual pub/cafe and all types in between, I can unreservedly say that this is possibly the best "value for money" restaurant I have been to (in my 57 years) based on the total experience of food/wine/service/ambience - all 5 Stars!!

On my birthday I was surprised by my boyfriend with a star menu of a special kind at home during lockdown. The team of "La Société" had greeted us very warmly when we picked up the individual components of the 5-course menu and provided us with detailed instructions. A very great experience and excellently composed.
