Wonderful restaurant. The waiters are older gentlemen who are kind and good with the speed of service. The food was very good and delicious. The pork knuckle with fried bacon potatoes was exquisite, a must try. It was much bigger than I expected but worth the money and fantastic. Mind that after 5:30PM, it gets crowded with long queues outside, as this is a super popular place. Atmosphere is mid but the tasty food and staff make up for it. Enjoy.

We had a great evening. The kölsch was quite good but sadly they don't brew it themselves (apparently they used to make beer back in the days but not anymore). Apple strudel was quite good. Highly recommend making a reservation beforehand.

Welcoming atmosphere with a less than 10min wait around 1930 on a Monday evening. Service was ok but had an odd interaction with one waiter who seemed to refuse to get me a custard with my apple strudel even though I ordered it along with the ice cream and whipped cream, thought he was joking at first but it did not come. After 10mins managed to get the attention of our main waiter who realised it was missing and got it right away. But not a reason to not give 5 stars as food was very nice with generous portions. Had the halve Hahn for starters, beef with raisin sauce and dumplings and turkey for mains, apple strudel and windbeute for dessert. Very nice decor. Definitely recommend.

A traditional restaurant, worth trying if you want to experience local food for the first time. What you should know is that German cuisine is heavy, so it depends on your taste. In one word, we liked it.

I have had schnitzel all across Germany as it is one of my favourite mainland European dishes; non compare to the schnitzel I had here. The pork was moist, the breadcrumb was perfectly cooked, and the potato salad was delicious. Even the salad they provide beforehand was perfect, with pine nuts providing a fantastic contrast to the sweet salad flavour. The best addition? The service. A bit of a wait for a table as the locals piled in (usually a good sign for a tourist when the locals like the place), but we were seated as soon as there was space. And then, we were catered for throughout by a fantastic pair of servers (Maureen and Johann) who were attentive and genuinely caring about our experience. Following the best food I've eaten in a long time, we were given a sample of some schnapps to taste which went down a treat. Thank you so much for a fantastic introduction to the warm hospitality Cologne has to offer, it has been an absolute pleasure.

Lovely restaurant. I liked the decor very much. The lady who made this place what it is looks happy to have done magic in the kitchen. A true gem for the schnitzel lovers. The beers are also great. Highly recommended!

Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Sat outside with heaters and blankets which was fine. Very good schnitzel options, had the Kolsche Art which was very tasty and a generous portion. My wife had the Camembert which was also nice and a good size. Good dessert selection and the chocolate mousse was very tasty and was the weekly special white chocolate mousse.

Had a wait when we showed up without a reservation but the waitress was nice and had an open outdoor table for us quickly under a heat lamp. Very friendly service throughout and the Schnitzel!? So great. We're not Schnitzel noobs but this was fantastic. Starting out with a little salad with a very tasty sunflower seed topped salad, the Schnitzel came and was about the size of my head but with wonderful light batter. We had a filled Kölner Schnitzer and the spicy Oma Schnitzel which had a spicy habanero sauce. So good and so rare in Germany to really have you mouth be on fire! Would come back here if we're back in town.

My hubby and I came to this restaurant and they have the best and authentic schnitzel in town! Love it! My favorite is the Sate - peanut butter sauce! The service is amazing! Staff are super friendly. Highly recommended!

Come here each time I visit Cologne. Hands down one of the best schnitzels. Highly recommend the Budapest. They offer a Klein portion which is enough food for most adults.

Very solid experience at this Brauhaus. I went twice on my trip and the food was great both times. A delicious (and huge) grilled pork knuckle; very flavorful and melt-in-your mouth Himmel und Ääd (blood sausage with buttery mash and chunky apple sauce). Taking a point off for the service, which was mixed. When I went in the evening, the server was quite amiable and spoke some English and tried to be helpful. When I went at lunchtime the server was curt, didn’t speak much at all, and had an attitude like he’d rather be doing anything than serving you (and this at 11:30am around opening!) I think with a bit of server training and accountability, this restaurant could be one of the best in the Dom area.

Strategic place to have a restaurant. Right in front of the cathedral. Is a casual vibe, and I didn’t order something big. But the meatball and the pretzel were good. The service was great. The young lady with the ponytails was extremely nice and helped me choose something to eat.

Busy and vibrant restaurants with a very convenient location to the Cologne Cathedral. Food was good. Seemed a bit touristy (we were tourists and eating there so not in a bad way.) so if you’re looking for a more local vibe check elsewhere.

Absolutely loved it here. We sat outside overlooked by the cathedral soaking up the sun but there was also plenty of seating indoors if you preferred that. The staff here were great and very quick to keep your glass topped up which we liked probably a bit too much but the beer was incredible. Although we didn’t have food, plenty round us did and it looked decent. We had several visits here so definitely one of the better bars in the city centre!!

The best food experience we had in Cologne thanks to delicious food, excellent service and great view over Cologne’s largest ( literally) attraction: Cologne cathedral. We wanted to try local dishes and here was almost everything to be found except for Rheinischen Sauerbraten which we found at another restaurant with less good service. Let’s talk about Gaffel am Dom service. We had this charming waiter who was fast, efficient, firm with do and don’ts - always with a smile and humorous attitude. We like the straight forward attitude that is efficient and no fuss. Especially when packaged with a smile and a gentle hand such as this guy. The routine of refilling Kölsch went smoothly and we just love how refreshing and easily the beer slips down the throat. Served in small glasses it never had a chance of getting lukewarm.

As soon as you take your last sip of Kölsch, a fresh one appears right away! The fastest service ever. The schnitzel with pepper sauce was also great.

Enjoyed a late lunch and kolsch beer at this 170 year old brewery. It was busy but seated immediately. The kolsch flows as it should in Cologne. The large currywurst was just that large. Excellent flavor sausage with sauce and thick fries. The gnocchi was in a rich tomato sauce with perfect seasoning and spicy. It was a wonderful stop.

My 5th brauhaus experience and the best. However, that might just be because it was a Saturday night and even some locals said that the live music was an unexpected bonus. SUPER busy, but they kept me watered while I waited and I ended up sharing a table with a lovely couple. As per every brauhaus, the food is tasty, comes quickly, and is a good portion. Also, reasonable value for money. Table service is a lovely thing, and was both efficient and friendly. Highly recommended!

Really nice restaurant and (bier) brewery near Köln city centre; not too expensive when compared to other similar restaurants, the plates are big and served fast. The service is nice to costumers, but the beer choices are not as many as expected. Overall, I would recommend

The beer, atmosphere, and service were excellent. The schnitzel was also delicious, but the lack of sauce made it feel a bit dry. Beer is served in a standard 20cl glass, but if you finish it, they automatically bring you a new one. If you don't want one, just let them know.

The staffs were very friendly and polite. The Kölsch were fresh and light. The pork knuckle was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The portion was huge, as expected, so we also ordered a salad to pair with the pork knuckle and it makes for a more balanced meal! All in all a good experience ☺️

My husband and I spent a night in Köln before heading to Amsterdam and we found that typical German restaurant after visiting the cathedral. What a jewel! It's more like a museum than a brewery, full of church relics. I couldn't resist talking a bunch of pictures. Even the WC resembles a dungeon in a castle. They kept bringing this delicious beer in small glasses and we shared a dish called Brauhauspfanne. First class service, all waiters were lovely and smiling. Even the manager was nice. By the end of the evening, we were very glad we found that place. We returned to our hotel, with a full tummy, spirits elevated, and a million dollars sensation.

I tried the roasted pork knuckle, which was decent. I was hoping for a crispier skin, similar to the roasted pork, but it wasn’t quite as satisfying. The flavour was good, and the mashed potatoes were delicious. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, but it’s a bit confusing inside. Perhaps it’s because it’s in an old building, the bathroom smell was a bit funky. The server was very busy and took a while to bring us our water and condiments, but maybe that’s just the pace in Cologne?

Do not eat here, bad food, bad service. First off we were greeted by the crankiest waiter, kids were screaming and running around the terrace and knocking into chairs while doing it for at least 10 minutes until they left. We then ordered the potatosoup, the schweinschnitzel and the ofenfrischer schweinebraten. The schnitzel should not have been called a schnitzel - this was the fattest clump of meat ever, not thin at all and very greasy, very small for what a schnitzel should be in Germany (yesterday we ate somewhere where it was at least twice as big, whilst being cheaper). The bread served with the potatosoup was burnt and the ofenfrischer schweinebraten was too dry to chew, with the sauce being gloopy and relatively cold. (We did not have to pay for this after discussing it with the manager, since we did not even eat more than 3 bites.) Drinks were ok, fries were fine, soup was fine... just not outstanding in the slightest. Not worth the effort not the price.

The food was really good, not sure why this place only has 4.3 stars, because it was tender, full of taste, great potatoes, full package! The beer was also really good and even though it was middle of the day, the staff was working super quick and smooth. It's super close to the cathedral, so when you come to Cologne, it's easy to find and good to sit down and rest. I would really recommend this place, we had a great time and great beer there!

Not the best, not the worst We had dinner here tonight. The local dishes on the menu looked appealing, and at first we were helped very kindly by the staff. Despite the busy evening, our food arrived fairly quickly. The flavor of my dish was decent, but the meat was quite dry and tough. My mother’s schnitzel also didn’t taste fresh. When we mentioned this, the staff handled it well and even offered us a complimentary dessert to share. However, when it came time to pay, we decided not to leave a tip because the food simply wasn’t good. The waiter reacted rather annoyed and somewhat offended, which didn’t feel appropriate. Perhaps we were just unlucky with our meals, as other dishes we saw looked fine. Still, the waiter’s behavior regarding the tip left a negative impression.

Surprisingly great spot in the Old Town! Gilden im Zims really exceeded expectations. Restaurants around town squares are usually tourist traps, but this one was the opposite—good portions, great value for money, and tasty food. The pork knuckles and bratwurst were especially delicious. Perfect way to kick off our trip to Cologne.

Our server was Christian and he was very funny and very excellent service! The beer glasses were refilled so quickly! As a Canadian, I approve of this method! Kölle Alaaf!!!

It has, I realise, been something of a week of cliché for anyone who’s been masochistic enough to read my recent reviews. A dreary parade of the obvious, the tried and tested, the meat-and-potatoes (and sauerkraut) of travel food writing. And I’m not about to let you off the hook just yet, because this sorry trajectory continued, unrepentant, with a visit to Cologne. Germany. Now, I adore the Germans. They’re essentially the British, but with better punctuality, better trains, and worse weather. Like us, they love football, beer, and meat, although they at least have the decency to admit it. On this trip, I managed to tick all three. There was a football stadium (tick), many, many beers (double tick), and enough meat to choke a Bavarian stag party. And the scene for this gastronomic box-ticking? Gilden Im Zims. A grand old beer hall on the main square of Cologne. The sort of place that smacks you round the chops with its authenticity, gives you a bear hug of Gemütlichkeit, and plonks a litre of something cold, amber, and foaming in front of you before you’ve even taken off your bobble hat. Though, being Cologne, these weren’t litres but the local Kölsch, which arrives in slim, delicate 0.2L glasses — a little frilly, yes, but the genius of it is they just keep bloody coming. Like a German efficiency algorithm had been let loose on the beer taps. Before you even notice the glass is empty, another appears in its place. It’s like beer Tetris. And what did I eat? Well, if you think I went to a traditional Cologne beer house and didn’t order the Schweinshaxe (that’s pork knuckle to the English), you’ve clearly mistaken me for someone who owns a vegan cookbook. It arrived like Excalibur — a monstrous hunk of pig with a knife jammed through the top, daring you to pull it out and declare yourself King of the Pork People. And the thing was magnificent. The crackling shattered like sugar glass, the meat inside soft, fatty, and gloriously porcine, all slicked in a deep, savoury gravy that made me want to take off my shirt and rub it all over myself. Not that anyone would have blinked in a place like this. Inside, it straddles the line between the modern and the medieval with unnerving precision — all dark woods, gleaming brass, and the gentle hum of people slowly but inevitably slipping into a beer coma. Service? Spot on. Friendly without the forced jollity you get in some places, fast without being aggressive. They know their beer, they know their pig, they know their people. So if you find yourself in Cologne, and you want football, beer, meat, and an evening where you won’t have to make a single decision (apart from whether to undo your belt before or after dessert), Gilden Im Zims is your spot.

Perfect place for Kölsch beer and a Pork knuckle. It’s located in the “Heumarkt”, a lively square close to the cathedral and River, beloved by locals for an evening out. Whether you want a picturesque table outside to soak up the street atmosphere or to go inside and feel like you have stepped into a Time Machine, it’s up to you. Both are great choices. Enjoy!

I arrived at this restaurant at 7 P. M. on a saturday and it was already full of people. As soon as I looked the waiter in the eyes to ask him how long would it take to get a table he handed me a beer without even asking me if I wanted it :) In the end I had to wait an hour and half to get a table and had to share it with two strangers. I had the pork chop, it was really big. Beers kept flowing in all night long, the waiter marked them on coaster. I didn't see any menù so in the end the check was a surprise and they don't even accept cards for payment. To make a long story short, it was a really strange and unique experience to eat in this restaurant :)

My two local friends suggested that we end our recent pub crawl at this interesting location. It doesn't look much from the outside, but inside it was teeming with drinkers enjoying the beer, food and overall atmosphere. I would classify this as a really authentic, rough and ready Kölsch beer house. We descended into the bowels of this establishment where there were still a few tables free. Our larger than life Köbe was quick to serve us with what seemed like the obligatory Kölsch beer. No problem. I then went on to order their special pork chop which came with chips and fried onions. It was delicious. Eating and drinking in this cellar area was great except for one silly group of youngsters who insisted on shouting their heads off and playing stupid games. The oral confrontation that ensued lead to them leaving. It's rare that I complain but they were being really unreasonable. After they left we were able to conclude our evening in peace. All good.

It thrives on the aura of a glorious past under Lommi, a legendary innkeeper, and his beer-tapping wife, Annemie: despite the crowds, there was always room for everyone – and if so, it was on empty beer crates with a phone book on them! Today, however, it's simply lousy: unfriendly waiters, excessive arrogance in the condescending, gracious granting of free seats – you have to "make an appointment" at the bar, even though no one is waiting and there are seats available. Apparently, they don't need hospitality. It's best to leave after such poor treatment – ​​a real shame!

This place was one of the highlights of my trip to Koln. Unfortunately I discovered it the day before I left. The service was above and beyond, within a minute of entering we were in tears from laughter and still to this day we tell the stories of this pub. The beer was amazing as well as the food. I visited Lommerzheim for the first time. Personally, I’m a big fan of Kölsch, German beers, and Rhineland cuisine but I haven’t experienced such disrespect in a long time. First of all, the staff is extremely inattentive. The place opens at 16:30, and there’s a line at the door. You’re seated according to the queue, but as you enter, no one greets you and none of the servers offer help. It’s a chaotic free-for-all whoever pushes hardest gets a seat. The staff only focuses on beer and service; order and hospitality seem to be irrelevant. We managed to get in without waiting too long, but once inside, no one welcomed us or showed us where to go. It was every person for themselves. While searching for a seat, I encountered a waiter carrying a keg. Naturally, I was about to give way, but instead he rudely shoved me aside with his hand and continued walking. I was going to let him pass, but he didn’t even give me the chance. The crowd inside is incredibly rude. No one makes room, and going to the restroom feels like a crisis. We barely found a table, and I noticed people who couldn’t find seats just standing awkwardly around others’ tables. After observing such poor service and behavior and even getting shoulder-checked by a few German patrons I had no choice but to leave without sitting down. I’ve never seen so many rude people in one place. The beer is excellent we managed to grab one while standing and I’m sure the food is great too. But I wouldn’t recommend visiting a place with such hostility and lack of restaurant culture. Instead, head toward Heumarkt and find a spot there. Let our rude, unhelpful, and strictly non-English-speaking German friends enjoy Lommerzheim on their own.

Quite an experience! Once you sit down, the waiter brings you a glass of cold beer without placing an order. Once you’ve almost finished your first glass, the second is placed on your table. Until you say no or place the paper coaster to cover your glass. The beer is typical Kölsch, which is very refreshing, light, with a subtle sweetness. The food is tasty too. Not too much choices. But the pork knuckle I ordered was crispy outside, tender and juicy inside. Very flavorful and large portion. The price is reasonable. Will definitely come back.

Ordered the cheeseburger with cheddar, fries with chili chipotle mayo. The size of the burger was good (200g pattie). The meat could've been better seasoned, it lacked a bit of salt, but in combination with the mayo, every bite was scrumptious. The bun could've been thinner and lighter. The fries were quite crispy and yummy as well. The textures of all the ingredients were pretty much perfect and freshness of the ingredients was also beyond dispute. Overall a good experience.

It's my neighbour's favourite, and I thought I gave it a try. It didn't disappoint. The burger is very juicy and properly grilled to medium. The quality of the vegetables is amazing, very fresh and crunchy. The sauce is tasty and and the bun is just perfect. One of the limited hamburger place with proper Belgian beer like Duvel and La Chouffe. Very generous portion. Bacon jam is just scrumptious. Highly recommend if you are in Südstadt.

Good Burger and self-service. Asked the cashier for sauce recommendations and was told they are all good. Nothing wrong with that, ordered two that sounded interesting. My friends food came out quickly mine took a bit longer, but I rather have a well prepared burger than a rushed one. Still can't say I that it tasted like anything special, it's a solid burger and fries.

Absolutely phenomenal dining experience! Every single item on our plate was a 10/10, even the sparkling water impressed us. first time trying schweinshaxe. It's the famous german cuisine called pork knuckle. I must say it was awesome and definitely try it again. I also love the sauerkraut but the potatoes can be better. Also my wife did not became the big fan of wiener schnitzel. overall I had a very good experience here. definitely recommended!

we arrived without a reservation. we were a group of 6. we had ordered a huge plate that was charged per person with a bit of everything. it was very good and filling. after that we had ordered two desserts to share. it had been over 30-45min, yet still no dessert. so we ordered a flight of 6 beers. they messed up to which they gave us 10 beers. we sent it back because it was incorrect. instead of explaining to us the options we had such as a flight with 5 beers. mind you we were with three germans so it was noy a language issue. they gave us 6 beers without the board. All while we are still waiting for the dessert. Then comes a man with curly hair with glasses, he started tossing the coasters to us. Very rude. then we finally got our dessert after reminding them THREE times. The ice cream came melted, the lady with red hair did not give us extra spoons. the service here was awful and they werent even that busy. horrible service. i wish the food made up for it

We were really late at the restaurant, like after 10pm and the service was not busy anymore. The food came really fast. Homemade sausage is great and the Schweinehaxe is ok. Schnitzel is a bit dry but for the over all experience and price, 4 stars. If you are looking for a restaurant that you have a space outside, kids can play and you can eat then we really recommend this restaurant.

I usually avoid larger restaurants in touristy areas, as the quality and service often disappoint — but this place was a wonderful exception! Despite its size, the atmosphere was comfortable and not too noisy. The food was excellent, the staff were attentive and friendly, and the prices were very fair for the quality. A great find that I’d happily visit again!

Really liked the overall experience! They let us in after 30 mins because it was too full, but totally worth it! This food portions were insanely big so I recommend sharing a plate with someone else if you eat like a normal person, but if you come hungry then for yourself! The schnitzel was absolutely amazing and would go back to eat another one, and might be for myself only. Part of the staff was a bit rude (considering we were tourists and only one in the table spoke German) but the guy who attended us was extremely nice. The beer was cold and delicious. We lucked out finding this spot—just a short 15-minute walk from the cathedral, and it was worth every step. Proper German food, huge menu, the kind where you stop counting after a while. Stuff like pork knuckle with pea purée, rump steak with fried potatoes, Wiener schnitzel, veal roulade, Sauerbraten made with horse meat, pork fillet with mushrooms, Kasseler neck with green beans, goulash with dumplings, and even giant bratwurst. On top of that, the Tuesday potato pancakes baked with cheese were killer. The vibe is classic—dim, buzzing, with waiters keeping the Kölsch flowing until you cover your glass. For visitors, that’s a whole experience on its own. The food? Straight-up tasty. My steak was perfect, and those cheesy potato pancakes were next level. Cozy, loud in a good way, and super friendly staff. Felt like home the minute we sat down.

Found this after googling a German restaurant near me . Was a 5 minute walk. We arrived at 12.30pm and it was packed, they did have a small round table which they offered us as most people had booked. We ordered the Jägerschnitzel each , a glass of wine and a beer. The staff very friendly , food was delicious, the customers were mainly locals which is always a good sign. Would definitely return, but book next time, so we don't miss out.

We decided to try the Farmer’s Omelette and the Bratwurst Dinner, and both dishes were nothing short of exceptional. The omelette was fluffy, well-seasoned, and generously packed with fresh ingredients… the kind of hearty breakfast that feels like it was made with care. The Bratwurst Dinner, on the other hand, was the perfect example of comfort food done right. Juicy, flavorful bratwurst paired with French Fries which were perfectly crispy made it a meal to remember. A special mention must go to the oldest microbrewery in Cologne, Päffgen, which was recommended to us. It was our first time trying it, and what a treat it was! But what truly made the experience unforgettable was the outstanding service we received. Our server, Glenn, was an absolute star. Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about making sure we had a great time. He took time to explain the menu, offered thoughtful suggestions, and made us feel like honored guests rather than just customers. Glenn’s service was world-class and elevated the entire experience. In short, Max Stark delivered on every level: delicious, hearty food, delightful local beer, and the kind of customer service that sets a gold standard. Good Food but Terrible service ! Tourists ! Alert ! Don't ruin your day We did not have reservations, of course we queued. No problem However, others could come in anytime took the table and sure they did have reservations. Then, we finally get seated after waiting over 45mins. Once we seated, we were told we only have 45mins dinning time.....wowwwww Sure, it is a busy restaurant , but how come others can stay more than 1 hour ? Meanwhile, there are empty tables ? What the rush ? It is definitely a lovely resturant for its neighbourhood, but only not for the tourists. It was a very bad & upsetting experience... I read the reviews and found out other tourists had the same experience It makes me feel little bit better 😝😝 We are not alone😁

This was my first time in Germany. On my way to Köln, I started looking for places to eat some good local food without breaking the bank. Max Stark kept coming up and the great reviews and location settings made me want to try it. Unfortunately, I do not speak german either, just the very basics. When I got there, I luckily found that staff do speak English and are very accomodating. I had to wait 5 minutes to be seated, but they helped me all the way. My 1st real german Jägersnitzel was heavenly good. Just as a heads up, if you are in a large group, book a table online on their website. If you are in Köln, give them a try!

We've been twice to an Hans im Gluck in a 10 days holidays in Germany to tell how much we loved it. The burgers are absolutely delicious, the combinations of tastes are original, the bread and the meat are of very good quality. The ice teas are also incredibly fresh and tasty. The sauces too are original and very tasty. Each time we encountered a spotless, fast and friendly service by the waiters. The decoration is very cute, inspired by birch forests & nature, it feels cozy. Totally recommend trying this restaurant, we loved everything :)

Beautiful place! Feels like you’re dining in a forest and the service is as good as you’ll probably get in Germany. Burgers are yummy but the fries were dry. Sauces were very bland.

Today we went for some burgers to Hans im Glück. We had a great time! The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was really cozy. Our waitress Kira was super friendly and did an amazing job. She spoke very good Englisch by the way and made us feel very welcome. We’ll definitely come back!

Tonight I went to Hans im Glueck am Ring — it was my first time in Cologne. The food and drinks came out really fast The waiter was really nice and started talking with me. He explained the menu in Arabic in a really good way. I asked if the meat was halal, and he was honest and said no, but they had a Vegetarian burger. It was my first time trying one with spinach and cheese, and honestly, it was super tasty! This is what I called a good service

The Deutzer Brauhaus restaurant have a great location and it has lovely garden... It is at a elevated corner plot overlooking to the streets and just walking steps away from Cologne Trieangle, Hyatt Regency Cologne and Train Station... Interior space is also very very very great... High ceilings with big volume... The team is very helpful, friendly, professional and attentive... Loved the food, it is very nice real German food... We had spare ribs and pork tenderloin, they were wonderful... Especially the fried potates with pork tenmderloin were amazing, so the both sauces which were mushroom and BBQ sauces... Not maany tourists here; mainly local Germans; if you want to rest from busy tourist places with perfect German food and lovely team than this the place... Very strongly recommend Deutzer Brauhaus...

I had the pork knuckle, I’m from Scotland so wanted to try something that a waiter recommended. The crackling was the best crackling I’ve had. Absolutely recommend this place! The waiter that I had was from Tunisia, I cant remember his name unfortunately but he was the star of the show, this man made the experience amazing. Great sense of humour and takes absolute pride in his job. I thank him again!

The food was quickly server. It was more than tasty! The steak was soft and perfectly seasoned, and the potatoes nicely baked. Fried chicken was a bit too dry, but anyway tasty. Beer in 0,2l is very practical, especially because the restaurant staff always looks at your glass and brings you a new one if empty.

Although we did not eat here we stopped for a quick Kolsch beer, the prices were good and the staff very friendly. One guy who spoke perfect English was very helpful in telling us where to go for some local bars and pubs, he was very honest about the local area and told us what to avoid. Needless to say I won't forget him for his quite frank responses to our questions, actually made my day. Beer was fab and service 10/10

Might be accepted before 7PM if you come without reservation. Was lucky although we were given only 1.5 hours of dining time, which was ok for a meal with beer. Pork knuckle was cooked perfectly with tender meat content and crunchy crispy skin. Meatloaf was rather so so and beef goulash was a bit dry. Service was good and overall vibe was awesome, a typical German beer restaurant. Love it!

I got the Rinderbratwurst with fries, salad, and mustard at Augustiner am Heumarkt in Cologne. The lunch was filling and gratifying because the size was enormous and the quality was high. The inside is warm and inviting, and it genuinely seems like a Bavarian beer hall. The staff was nice. The prices are fair for the large portions and the nice atmosphere. If you're in Cologne and want a lot of classic German food in a nice, Bavarian-style environment, this is a good place to go.

The food quantity and quality are impressive. We shared two "appetizers", which are almost large enough to be full dishes, and a pork knuckle which is also huge! We tried to also make some room for the desert, which was delicious but couldn't finish it. Truth be told I would want to complain a bit about the high prices, but for such a central location and delicious food, I get it... The one uncomfortable thing was noticing the servers and their dynamic. Not all of them seemed to do the same workload. It's unfortunate to notice this, but there were definitely two of them who were practically running the restaurant while a few others had chit chats with one another. Maybe check on with management. Still, I would recommend the place for the food and beer selection.

Food is fantastic, just like I had in Munich. I had the beef broth and the pork roast and they were great. Service is attentive and it’s a great value. Credit cards are accepted.

The food and service here are outstanding! We went to the original place in Munich and this location also didn't disappoint. Also, the service here is the best we had in the 8 days in Germany. The bold server (didnt get his name), was the first one who asked how was our food and if we needed anything. Friend and I were shocked. Apparently, in Germany its not a norm to inquire, or maybe that was our experience. Nonetheless, Definitely stop here for an amazing meal!!!

It will end your cravings, but there are better restaurants. Service was attentive and funny. Tipping works on US style. They offer some percentage and you can choose the amount.

Just a great little restaurant, the older blonde lady that helped us was amazing just straight to the point LOVE IT even for foreigners (we’re dutch and don’t speak much german) but just the “Beer?!” Was enough. A normal Beer is 2,50 and its good beer too! Food is cheap and delicious! 100% would come back here if i visited Köln again

Wonderful food, wonderful smells, and a proper old-school Kölsch atmosphere. I honestly think they serve the best Haxe in Cologne, and that says a lot in this city. Crispy on the outside, fall-apart tender inside. Pure joy. The beer sauce brings sweet and bitter undertones. The slightly sweet and tangy krautsalat is a flavor bomb. I’d take home a big jar if I could. The deliberately overseasoned bratkartoffeln, with char from the oven, add salt and a deep bitterness that ties it all together. The only downside? The Senf (mustard) is nothing special. But honestly, you won’t miss it with everything else going on. The Bier Esel might be a donkey, but it knows exactly what it’s doing. Einmal im Monat? Nein, zweimal im Monat, if I have the time.

Wonderful food and a real pub atmosphere. We ate outside under the market umbrellas. Had the delicious Goulash suppe. The Kalbsschnitzel für Zwei (small Schnitzel for two people) with the Chanterelle cream sauce from their summer menu was fantastic and cost under €40. Their specialty is actually many variations of a pot of steaming mussels, which we will try next time. Good service and the server spoke English once he knew we were English-speakers from the U.S.

The food was incredible! Overall, it was a great experience. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food and wine were excellent. It’s definitely an expensive dinner, but you can really feel the investment and the attention to detail.

First of all, this is the longest dining experience you’ll ever undertake so be forewarned. Well deserved two Michelin stars. One seating per night, 12+ tasting course menu w or wo wine pairing. We did the wine pairing and honestly it was too much. The chef takes you on a sensory journey for all the senses. My videos are better, but I guess Google reviews does not allow videos. My pics do not do it justice! The ticket starts promptly at 6:30. Super cool space and only about 12 tables. You will be blown away by each course. A couple of tiny misses at the end but at nearly midnight, many dishes and many glasses of wine later, we didn’t care. With wine and tip it will set you back about a grand for two people. So worth it IMO

My first dinner at a Michelin star restaurant. What an experience! The room is very modern but also really cozy. We had the great opportunity to dine at the chef's table where you can watch the guys work in the kitchen. The staff is super nice and casual. The menu was on point. Great mix of modern and traditional techniques. Each course was exciting and tasty. Wine pairing was really good. Great evening. Can't wait to come back one day.

This was our 3rd time at Ox&Klee, every time we go we think we know what to expect. But it really is an „experience tasting“, every time is so different, each course is mind blowingly tasty and surprising. What we love most about this place is that you can let them know up front what foods you don’t like, they accommodate any wishes without being annoyed about it. I opted for first time for fully vegeterian to be on the safe side and I do not miss out on the different tastes and textures that are designed for everyone else. The wine accompanied has been chosen carefully and works perfectly. Last but not least, the staff is delightful and this place is just so open minded for being so „posh“. Simply can only love.

One of the best experiences in my life. After being in some German restaurants in the Michelin guide I had dissapointment after dissapointment. Ok & Klee is different, Ox & Klee is playing in the Spanish 3 michelin star world, and I would compare it with Disfrutar, Diverxo or El Celler de Can Roca. The chef, Daniel is a genius and his creativity is unbelievable. Same can be said about the wines, very original concept going from the old to the new world. Service was incredible too. So to sum up, I think this might be the best restaurant in Germany and I would reserve as soon as possible. Thanks Daniel and team, because you managed to make us have one of the best nights in our life!

Delicious food with very nice presentation (we took Rosti with fresh tartare and delicious sausage with fried potatoes by advice of the waiter). The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The waiter asked where we are from, if it is our first time in Cologne and told us about local beer. Highly recommend this place!

My favorite bar in Cologne. Close to downtown, but far enough away that it’s not full of tourists. A VERY traditional style pub. Visited several times. Gets very busy during dinner time. The staff is helpful and friendly. They seemed happy to speak English with an American. Traditional German food. Upon arrival at this place, I asked the waiter if I can pay by card. He said yes. I ordered Kolsch. I went to pay and another waiter told me that if the bill is under 20, they cannot accept card. I did not have any cash upon me. So they charged more for this. I do not recommend this place. Very rude behaviour.

What a fantastic little pub. Great atmosphere, nice beer and good food. The service was also excellent and very friendly. Food menu was extensive, we loved the blood sausage and the halve hahn. Food seemed to be served until fairly late too which was handy. Can't wait to visit again

Not sure where the dozen Kölsch went that were noted on the coaster - they must have been very good! Still one of the coolest pubs in Cologne, and the food is also not too bad.

Husband surprised me with dinner here and it is a fun and cute place. Our placemats were old laser discs (of Waterworld, I had sides 1&2 and he had 3&4) and a general vibe of film kitsch was threaded through the decor. The staff were friendly and welcoming, with a personal casualness that felt very relaxing. At some points one of the chefs or owners came around to ask how things were and tell us more about the dishes (if we wanted). We had some questions about the food, because they tout their dry-aged lamb and we wanted to know what "atom yoghurt" was. Straight answers, friendly and informative. Oh, and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend the lamb, and the dips - particularly the aforementioned atom yogurt. If you like a little heat, you'll appreciate the punch that this packs. Great evening overall. Parking is a little tight, but hey, it's nice that there's dedicated parking for the restaurant. Would go again x

Very tasty, both lamb and fish are very well grilled and seasoned. Not on the cheap side (~20€ pee meal) but definitely worth it. Homemade lemonades are nice as well and I like the style of the room with old Turkish movie posters on the wall. Easy recommendation for me.

From the outside, it looks like a small place, but there are a few dinning rooms available and it is quite comfortable. Very good, authentic Turkish food here. Highly recommend stopping by if you are in Cologne.

If you are from Turkey and/or speak Turkish you probably have a good experience here but we were not treated in a very polite way as one would expect. Non Turks were seated in the front where it is way less cozy and cold, waiter seemed to have started that day not seeming to know anything about the menu, main courses came 30 min before starters and we had to ask for the check 4 times before walking back searching for our coats and threatening to just leave when finally they could produce a bill. Still had to haggle over the incorrect things on it and so all in all I would never recommend this to anyone (and I even speak German). Girl behind the bar was extremely rude. I’ve given it 3 stars because the food was good and 1 star reviews tend to be overlooked.

Food is okay, literally okay. The service is horrible. No people checking on you during the whole dinner. Bread is not delivered until the end of dish. Checking took half-year. Seems they don’t have enough staff that day. Plenty of Turkish restaurants in Cologne, to avoid bad service, you have other alternatives.

Although I have been to and loved the Christmas Market in Stadtgarten for many years, I had never eaten in the restaurant before a couple of days ago, when I went with a couple of friends. We all enjoyed the flavorful vegan burger and exceptional fries. I had a cappuccino too. Great service. The outdoor seating was shaded and enchanting.

This is specifically for the burger and drinks trucks and not the restaurant itself, which is lovely. May 1st we arrived well before 2pm waiting on the burger truck opening, as it had been recommended to us. 2pm came, nothing. At 2.15 were told another 12 minutes. It didn't open until an hour later with staff inside taking an absolute age to open. Ny this time we are hungry, annoyed and almost going elsewhere. The staff also were being shown absolutely everything by one chef who was also taking orders, so everything took another age. It wasn't until 330pm we started to eat. Total shambles Food was nice but not worth such a wait and in typical German fashion, no apologies or explanation for their customers.

It’s in middle of the city so it’s crowded and hard to get a table. You need to stand in different queues to get drinks and food, so if u come alone u spend 30 minutes getting the order. Service is also slow.. just a great ambience to chill over beers

Amazing place for good food & Good music. the concert house situated on the edge of the park at the Venloer Straße, which was founded by the "Initiative Kölner Jazz Haus eV". It came into being in 1986 from the initiative of jazz-enthusiastic music students. It consists of a concert hall, a live club (Studio 672) and a café-restaurant. Attached are a beer garden and a garden restaurant. With over 400 events a year, the program of the Konzerthaus covers a wide cultural spectrum. The focus is on concerts, supplemented by contemporary literature and discussion groups. Two focal points are jazz and new improvisational music . Program Manager is Reiner Michalke . The Stadtgarten - the Konzerthaus and, since 2007, the Park - is also one of the venues of the MusikTriennale Köln .

The good: The local has an interesting design. The bad: pricey hispter food with so-so flavours. The staff could be more attentive to customers. Me, as a foreigner, asked the guy in the cashier for a beer, and when asked which one, I pointed to one of the bottles he had on sight, which we sold to me for me to find out later that it wasn't beer but soda. I think a comment specifying that the product wasn't beer would've been nice. The ugly: no ugly for this one :)

Sausage and dip was delicious. However french fries was quite bad, burnt and not tasty.

Very tasty custom made hot dogs. The owner is the same guy who runs "Die fette Kuh", one of the best burger joints in Cologne, which others voted as being one of the better ones in the world. Needless to say, the buns are hand made brioche buns which are firm yet incredibly soft once you bite into them, the sausage is full of flavor and the condiments are top notch. Highly recommend for anyone who likes a good hot dog.

The brioche bread they use for the hot dogs is heavenly! I find the classic dog not ideal, the sausage is too thick for the bread and the rest, and the pickled cucumbers are not up to my expectations, therefore for classic hot dog, i'd give it a 4 star. However, as a matter of fact, a big However, the sucuk dog is probably one of the best things i have eaten out in a long time. it's fantastic, everything that i find not ideal in hot dog has been replaced with awesomeness. The egg, the sucuk (garlic sausage), the chili mayo, the bread, all is just perfect! Very well done guys, instant favourite.
