I visited Balthasar in Cologne with friends who live in Germany and speak the language fluently. As a tourist, I was really looking forward to enjoying a nice evening, but unfortunately, the experience left me disappointed. We ordered both starters and main courses at around 8:10 PM. The starters didn’t arrive until approximately 8:40 PM, which was already quite slow. However, the real issue was with our main courses. By 9:20 PM, we still hadn’t received them, so we asked the waitress about the delay. Her response was a series of excuses: that they were busy with outdoor tables and that we were supposed to inform them when to proceed with the main course. This was never communicated to us beforehand, and frankly, made little sense—especially when the table next to us, who ordered well after we did, had already received their food. When we raised this point, the waitress claimed that the other table hadn’t ordered starters, which again felt like just another excuse rather than a genuine explanation or apology. Worse, she insisted that “this is how things work in Germany”—a comment made in front of my friends who have been living here for over eight years and knew this was not true. Even after all this, at 9:45 PM, we still hadn't received our food, and no effort was made to apologize or offer any form of compensation. When the food finally came, it was fine, but certainly not worth the two-hour wait and the poor service we endured. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing evening. Good food means little when the service and communication are so lacking.

Delicious food, I had the Kalbschnitzel,good portion. Our waiter was very nice,looked after us very well. We had a good time. The music got a bit too loud around like 9 o'clock, but other than that we enjoyed the place.

I’ve had lunch at Balthasar. The whiskey sour was well mixed and the stuffed chicken with mashed peas and young broccoli was fingerlicking good. I do definitely recommend this restaurant. It’s on the pricier side but worth every penny.

We had a wonderful late breakfast at Bastian’s with our family. The place is spacious and full of light, creating such a pleasant atmosphere. So fast serving, the atmosphere is nice and there is so many place, it’s actually a big cafe. Prices is also normal. I try tee latte and it’s warm and creamy and taste very nice.

We were here 2 days in a row for quick breakfast. Food is ok but both servers specifically told me tip is not included, its very rude and not a common practice in germany. Specifically first day, bill was 49.5, I told him 50, he wrote 55. You just serving coffee 10 meters away, its not justified.

I can't believe that I neglected to post about Kaffeesaurus after my first visit there in 2024, but I didn't. So here you are! Delicious coffee, fabulous food, great and friendly service. In December of 2024 I had a seasonal pumpkin cream French Toast that was amazing. I had the regular French Toast today and it was extraordinairy. I ate every bite.

An Absolute Must-Try for Brunch in Cologne! 🇩🇪 After a 10-minute subway ride, Kaffesaurus was the perfect start to our day. The place was busy, but the staff quickly found us a nice table. We used Google Translate for the menu (we didn't ask for an English one, so that's on us!). The coffee arrived first—a delicious latte with a cute Christmas tree design on top. The brew was excellent! For brunch, we enjoyed the awesome Shakshuka and the wonderful Pancakes with Pistachio Cream. Verdict: We are so happy we chose Kaffesaurus. It's truly a top-tier brunch spot. We will definitely be back! Rating: 5/5 stars (Highly Recommended)

Definitely one of my favourite cafés! The food is excellent and the menu has something for everyone. And the coffee is just amazing. It's easy to reach from anywhere and there's ample seating inside and outside (which is a great spot for brunch in summer). Make sure to stop by for a bite, a drink and a friendly chat!

Being vegan, my first time in Cologne was great! We came to Café Rotkehlchen to have lunch. How to choose when everything is vegan here?? Thankfully our waiter was awesome and kindly gave us recommendations for the food on my photos. All of it was delicious! Choose the panini when you’re hungry and a bagel if you’re less hungry. I had a vegan salmon bagel and that’s why I had space for the amazing piece of Spaghetti-eis cake 😍🍰 We had a nice chat with the waiter about where we’re from and also explained and showed me what the very German ‘Spaghetti-Eis’ was that the cake was named after. They had so many pies and cakes to choose from, I wish I could have tried them all! Definitely a must visit if you’re vegan but also when you’re not! The atmosphere is great and the service is even better. Will for sure come back when I’m in Cologne next time. 🌱

Just stopped in randomly as I passed by to visit a friend who lives in the area. I knew this place was vegan, so wanted to try out their coffee skills. When I noticed the schrank full of tasty naughty sweet things I could not help myself but order the nutty caramel looking tart to go with my Hafer Cappucino. Devine naughtiness.

Cute vegan cafe with great atmosphere, nice music and attractive vegan provisions. The service was impeccable. However the drinks and cakes we ordered were all pretty lame and flavorless. We had dirty chai, orange mint ginger tee and Americano, and also three different kinds of cake. Veganism is not an excuse for bad cooking. As much as I'd like to support vegan shops I can't say anything was actually tasty.

First Cafe for me in Cologne and it did not disappoint! Cute and small, very nice atmosphere with seating for one! I had very nice Cortado coffee with Oat milk and a Focaccia sandwich with goat cheese for lunch, savory with a bit of sweetness, very tastey. They have an assortment of cakes, and have mainly vegetarian and vegan food. Lovely experience all in all.

We discovered this wonderful café on our way to the cathedral and were so glad we did. The service was a standout; the staff were genuinely welcoming and helpful from the moment we walked in. A wonderful cafe with lovely staff, a good vibe and a sincerely excellent Flat White. The food is delicious too! One of the few places offering all day brunches, you absolutely must stop by here at least once (we have been every day, at least for coffee)!

A nice cafe with tasty coffees and seasonal drinks, and ample food choices for brekkie or lunch. Enjoyed an oat-milk cappucino and homemade currant-mint-lemonade. Great ambience with plenty of light, and friendly staff. Pretty good wifi too in case you need to get things done.

An amazing cafe with a sweet, cosy atmosphere, with tasty breakfast meals for every tastes! I got there once, and then everyday for the rest of my trip, it was this good I didn't had to search for another place to get something different for breakfast! The coffee is great, so are the waiters and staff, and the service is quick, delicate and efficient! I'd wish for such a perfect coffee spot everywhere I go to! (Don't mind the cheese breakfast plate, I'm a cheese lover!)

It was a nice dinner experience but we expected more. The food is very good, no doubt about that, but it is not immaculate and there is certainly room for improvement. The bread was unfortunately not freshly baked, which is something I would expect in any restaurant offering a 5- or 3-course menu, especially with the associated price tag. The bread itself was rather hard and dry, it seemed like it was baked for the morning or lunch but still served for dinner, it wasn't even warmed up. The salmon-spinach dish was good, but honestly nothing super special. The calf was good but a bit too dry and too well done; not sure what the dry bread thing was supposed to do but it was hard to cut with a knife to be completely honest. The chicken was good but it was also a bit too dry, potatoes in sauce were the star of the dish. Dessert was good, the ice cream was honestly amazing (tasted like Amaretto / Amarettini), but the sponge thingy didn't really convince me. And even though I really like and appreciate the idea of the Bitter Tonic drops in the dessert, as it is super creative and out of the box, I don't think it was very complementary to the palette of the berry dish itself. My absolute highlight of the five courses (besides the amazing ice cream in the dessert) was the Kohlrabi soup. The soup was honestly super delicious and next level with the fish tartar and red currant. So good, really delicious 🤤. The waiting times were plain horrible, even though the restaurant was not even half full. We had the 3- and 5-course menus on our table of six, but after more than 2 hours we had only had 2 courses from the 5-course menu, or even just one single course from the 3-course menu. That is not acceptable, as we had a reservation and already said we were going for the course menus. We had a small child with us and the whole dinner took more than 3 hours, which is just not appropriate at all, especially since there was a much larger table that came after us but finished everything before us. Once we kindly asked staff to please speed up the courses because it was taking just way too much time, they apologised and gave us coffee on the house. They explained that they had 3 groups and it took longer than usual and apologised, also the coffee on the house was really good. That was a nice gesture all in all, but still, the waiting time just made the whole evening way too long and too much for the child, which was just not necessary. It was a birthday celebration and we would have preferred not to spend more than 3 hours in the restaurant. Especially since we were the only table with a small child and just wanted to get home in the end. I really don't understand why exactly our table was chosen to have to wait, with a 10 months old baby. Maybe the kitchen was understaffed as well because it is vacation season at the moment, but that is still no excuse for more than 3 hours for 3 or 5 courses. Service in general is amazing, but we were told in the beginning that they could not find our reservation, however, luckily they still had a large table available. As it turned out, it was our reserved table for six after all and the girl simply didn't check properly. But it left a bitter aftertaste because to think they would have just like that given our reserved table away to a non-reserved walk-in basically, and that almost 10 minutes before the actual reservation time as we were a bit early, makes me worry. It seemed to have been the last available large table for a party of six there by the way. So if we would have been 10 minutes late instead of 10 minutes early, would they have given the table away to someone else already? Biggest let down of the whole location are the toilets though. The gentlemen's bathroom stinks of urine which is completely unacceptable in such a fancy location. It looked clean, it's not dirty, but there is no ventilation or anything and the smell is absolutely disgusting. I don't think guests should have to hold their breath in the stinky bathroom after having paid a lot of money for a 5 course dinner.

The Sushi here was a bit dissapointing. Also we had to ask for chopsticks and soy sauce etc, cause they didn’t bring it. They leave all unnecessary items and glasses on the table even tho we only ordered sushi. Also empty bottles of drinks didn’t get taken out, overall the table was very messy and doesn’t have much to do with authentic Japanese food/service. Staff was friendly, but didn’t ask us for a second drink or anything, needed to be called by us. The view over the river was nice tho.

The view and atmosphere is nice. Service is great. The dinner food was underwhelming and would recommend skipping steak as it was undercooked and was extremely chewy/poor seasoning for $160. Would recommend it’s taken off the menu given its worse than most chain steakhouse restaurants. Breakfast was much better with lots of versatile options.

The sushi chef was off today. Monday. The sushi menu did not sweep me off my feet but what we had has delicious and the dessert spectacular. Great view of the dome. I wished I could go there more often. Thank you for a very nice dinner

Went here to celebrate my birthday with my partner. Food is superb and was given an additional dessert to cap the night off. Quite pricey but it was worth it. However, the cathedral and the bridge are not visible in the evening as the lights from the hotel reflect the glass so it‘s impossible to enjoy the view

Wonderful service, delicious food and a surefire hit for a special occasion. They even provided chocolates and fruits for my husband’s birthday. It loses the final star for the view of the cathedral- it promises to be good from the location but the glass does spoil it as you can see from the photo. A pricey but very enjoyable experience, just don’t come at night expecting an amazing view!

Stayed down the street for a few weeks, so I made it my personal mission to try all the pastries. Everything was fresh and yummy. Cappuccinos were frothy and good. I tried the homemade blueberry yogurt as well. Sourdough bread was heavenly. There's always a line for this place, but definitely worth the wait. I think the walnut cinnamon roll was my favorite, next up apple strudel.

A seriously unreal bakery that if you’re in Köln, living or visiting, you have to go to. The winkel (no diddy) alone is worth the trip!! Great selection of cakes and pastries, the bread is phenomenal and they really nail the coffee that they make. Especially with lovely service and friendly atmosphere that the staff create! It’s a lovely setting, great place to sit, enjoy and watch the world go buy while you enjoy everything that you eat.

Staying in the area for 3 weeks and have probably come here 10 times or more. It's a bustling bakery that can have between 1 person in line ahead of you to 20 (depending on how lucky you are and the time of day you go there). They are efficient, the breakfast-type foods are excellent (see pictures), and the coffee is wonderful. Indoor and outdoor seating provides enough space for those wanting to eat in, even when it's a bit busy, but it seems roughly half take their orders to go. Took a couple photos to give you an idea of the amount of stuff they have on offer. If you're in the area, don't hesitate to come here.

We had an exceptional dining experience at Augustin. The atmosphere is beautiful and elegant, especially with the historic building and the greenery outside. The food was outstanding. The beef tartare was one of the best I have ever tried, and the cheese selection was truly special. There is even a dedicated person who guides you through the cheeses, which made the experience feel thoughtful and unique. It’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed food of this quality. Service was warm, attentive, and professional, without being overwhelming. This restaurant is a real gem. Highly recommended — we would definitely return.

The service was warm, attentive, and efficient, making us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived , Tom and Elena were very efficient and attentive, undivided attention and like swans gliding to serve the hungry and excited costumers , the decor is divine ,and we met a very chic , well cultured lady beside us . Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, with vibrant flavours and fresh ingredients that exceeded expectations. The presentation was beautiful, and everything arrived at the perfect temperature even though we can only see 2 capable staff on the floor . This was quite possibly the worst breakfast brunch i have ever had! Whilst the service was good, and it was a very calm atmosphere, the food was lacking in quantity, and what was there was of very poor quality. The only hot options were bland eggs, with no flavour, and chipolata sausages which were swimming in grease. The cold meats and cheese selection was very poor, and considering it was €22, i think this place needs to up their game considerably if the want to be fine dining contenders.

The food was exceptional, but what really stood out was the service. My reservation was for 6pm as they opened, so it was a bit quiet but getting busier as the evening went on.

One of the worst store experiences of my life, a night attendant practically shouted at me for not having enough money for an item, calling me names and everything. I've been to several rewe stores and I've never been treated this way.

Great place to grab and go catching up with journey. Bakery items have decent spread to choose from. The sandwich are fresh and packed well. The make by yourself sale counter has good options for both vegan and others. Only suggestion is to include a packing system so the lid doesn’t open up when carried in a backpack else it has to be held in hand. The price was ok and felt apple price could be realistic as for the same price we get one kg same brand back in doha :-) thought it travels by air all the way from Germany 🇩🇪 😃. That was bit off centric to understand. . Overall a value for money and good experience.

The only mini market open 24 hours in the area. Convenient for a quick snack, with self-checkout machines for fast payment.

The breakfast service was extremely slow, I almost missed my train for it. The staff don't speak English well, prepare your heartbeat if you're rushing for train.

We had some coffee and waffles on the terrace outdoors. The coffee was fine but the waffles were not tasteful at all, the most horrible part was the really low quality ice cream on it. Well it was also overpriced, no wonder why they never bring a pricelist although everyone ask for one. They obviously count on the monopoly on that place, its really sad.

The rooms are clean, unfortunately the TV didn’t work well during this stay. The breakfast was lacking. Not the high class hotel with white tables cloths like it used to be

This restaurant is absolutely world class. Everything from the food to the service is incredible. The best thing about the restaurant, however, is the absolute serenity of the area. This was my favorite meal in Germany.

Beautiful location, friendly staff, excellent food. However, for 140 Euros for one night, the place was a bit run down. Cracked sink, cigarette burn on the night stand, worn out carpet in the stairwell. Shower head wouldn't stay in place, making me crouch. Beds were crisp and clean, comfortable. But for this kind of money, I expect the rooms to be in top condition. Expect loud church bells starting at 6:30 am.

Very nice place, lovely location. We only had dinner in the restaurant. We went for a birthday party. Food was delicious. Some of us had the 3 or 4 course month menu and others had a two course a la carte. Food was delicious. Mouth watering from the salad to the soup to the main and the final. Service was terrible. They finally arrived to take our order, they served you dinner and you didn't see the waiting staff during your dinner or most of the evening. We wanted wine and no one was around to even ask for the wine. They took their time collecting the plates and many tables just sat there with dirty dishes. No one asked if we enjoyed our meal and to pay our bill was another mission. we sat there for 35 mins till I had to go to the kitchen where all the staff were to get someone to pay my bill. I didn't leave a tip. Service really needs to be improved. Its a shame really, its my fathers in laws favourite place, its old school especially the decor and the food is amazing but the service is bad and I don't think they even care. The food was delicious. And based on the food I would return.

Didn't quite live up to expectations. The room was quite old fashioned. The bathroom was dated. Breakfast looked promising but we arrived 45 minutes before end of service and most items had run out and weren't replenished. Also had to wait over 15 minutes before we saw someone in the restaurant to ask for coffee.

Quite a terrible experience. Only good part was that the person serving us was friendly (even though she didn't seem to know much about coffee (maybe language barrier?)). They forgot one of out coffee's, and when asked about it were very rude/arrogant. Coffee tasted bitter and burnt (had a cappocino and a black coffee). Hopefully it was just an unlucky experience, but probably won't find out, as I don't plan to go back there.

Absolutely excellent, a bit pricey but good service. They roast/grind their own coffee so it doesn't get much better than that. Highly recommended.

I visited this place while visiting cathedral, it was very close. Sandwichs were really nice. Dessert pastry I tried was good too. There are two cabins and Ques for takeout and eat in . You can also sit out side . Would recommend trying if you are around. A very busy place.

I believe everyone knows that pretzels are one of the most famous and popular German snacks. Therefore, I am trying to taste different pretzels at different shops. Merzenich is one of the most well known brands in Koln, so I was rushing to get one as soon as I arrived Koln. Unfortunately, the taste was bad, the texture was very hard and rough, even worse than those I got from the train stations. Very disappointing!!!

Called in here whilst on holiday. We got a pretzel, a donut, some caramelised croissants and a nougat pretzel. The staff were patient with us and helped us with what some of the items were. The food was fairly nice but there were quite a few wasps in the food cabinets. Outside there is limited seating but we were lucky enough to get a table too. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

More than decent German baked goods at modest prices. Tends to be quite crowded on weekends but the queues move fast. You can tell the sugars are natural because of the bees all over the counters. Located very close to the Gothic Cathedral.

The Berliner doughnut is the best thing on offer. The other pastries we tried were good too. Quick, professional service. The prices were as expected considering the location. There was plenty of seating outside (but the pigeons were so aggressive we didn't stay long).

Attendants treat you bad if you speak English, no clear signs that you can’t use their seating when purchasing to go snacks plus coffee and drinks, attendants tell you to get out of the store even without giving all you paid for (lady and black guy refused to give the cappuccino we paid for). Loved the city and the food but our last day was very upsetting for the treatment we received in this place after multiple days in town.

Very lovely café! I had the Brioche Avocado Egg Drop and Mango Coconut Smoothie; both were really good, even though I personally wouldn't want the coconut sprinkles on the smoothie for my next visit. The Avocado Egg Drop was fantastic, the egg was surprisingly rich in flavour and a hint of spice was also nice to have 🙂‍↕️ For dessert I had the pumpkin spice cheesecake and a cookie. Let me tell you, the cheesecake was hands down the best and CREAMIEST cheesecake I've ever had like fr I LOVED IT 🩷

Really good spot for a breakfast, snacks or just a coffee. Service was good and it has. A relaxed atmosphere. Also very nice when the weather is good and you can sit outside. The sandwich and Chai Latte were good.

We ordered two cakes and a roll cake, but unfortunately, the quality was very disappointing. The cakes were extremely dry, and the cream in the roll cake had a watery taste, giving the impression that these items had been sitting out for days. Additionally, we ordered dark coffee and milk coffee, but to our shock, the milk coffee had green particles, which appeared to be from a sponge. Considering the quality, the prices were not justified and felt like a waste of money. Lastly, the service was unprofessional, as one of the staff members left in the middle of taking my order to serve another customer a cola.

We were in queue, but a few of us step over to the other aisle/shelf area to ENQUIRE, whether are we right to queue first or choose the pastries first to be brought before the cashier. To our horror, It is appalling the man behind the shelf told us off rudely to go back in queue! Is that necessary to show us that expression? Next when we order, we were told there were no receipts !! Is that really German commercial practice? That's absurd! Maybe I can verify this with German authorities whether such is the lawful practice? And toilets access, is that not allowed even for spending customers? or even if we are willing to pay for toilet access? At the very least, pls put up a sign, NO TOILET!! I seriously do not recommend to any Asians to try this particular outlet. Unless you want to experience pure racism at its finest. Overhype and disappointingly lack of service etiquette

Salmon bagel was excellent & location is excellent. Staff does not smile and do not give clients time (a few seconds) to ask sbout content of sandwiches or other.. they rush and respond back rudely if you want to add another item. Most of the staff speak poor English although due to the cafes location on a main pedestrian street there were many not German speaking clients. Most food items are delicious. Maybe they should not mix cucumber & egg as they did not go well in another ciabatta sandwich.

It's always nice to have a place to sit down after a long shopping spree. But this isn't it! The hot chocolates were the worst we have ever had. Who in the right mind makes hot chocolates with water!? AVOID IT! You might think the cakes or the bread were much nicer... you're wrong. They weren't worth the price we paid for! The cakes were edible at best and the sandwich was dull, bread tasted burned even tho only the bottom part of the bread was a bit dark. The service was okay, nothing too special. The girl that brought our order felt disgusted too once we told her the hot chocolate was awful. That comes to show that even the people who work there don't like it. The prices are waaaay too high for what you get... Literally bad food and drinks. The place itself is quite beautiful! That's why I am giving this place 2 stars. I do not recommend! Usual experience you'd expect from Merzenich If you're from Cologne. Very good bread, average at best as a Cafe. You have to pay extra (yes, even as a paying customer) to use the restroom. One would at least expect them to be very clean, but the men's room was dirty, had no paper towels, and the hand dryer didn't work.

Great coffee bar with a nice interior. Interior is filled with old and unique coffee machines. The cakes and sweets were good and the staff is friendly and quickly as well. Ordering of coffee or other items has to be done at the bar.

I "needed" a decent decaf coffee and fresh croissant and found the café across from Cologne main station. I was prepared for the worst and totally delighted to be proved wrong. What can I say, delicious decaf coffee, excellent fresh chocolate croissant and extremely friendly Italian-speaking staff. Quite the oasis!

It has an excellent location with a perfect view of the cathedral, so you can sit and enjoy the scenery while having a drink. The place is small with a cozy, boutique feel; service is fast and the staff are very attentive and friendly. In addition to various coffee options, there is also a nice selection of beers, wines and cocktails, and it’s also suitable if you want to grab a bite to eat.

We had a latte macchiato and a cappuccino, which were great and refreshing after a two-hour train ride. Great location, right in front of the Dom and outdoor sitting area.

So at this café was disappointing. While the service was fast, the overall atmosphere was let down by the staff’s attitude, which felt unfriendly despite polite smiles. The coffee and cake were both very average, with nothing that stood out compared to other nearby options. What left the strongest impression, however, was a remark made after we paid the bill: one staff member smiled and said, “No tips, we are not friends.” This comment felt unprofessional and inappropriate, and it overshadowed the visit.

Worst service we got in Cologne! The place looked so inviting as well as the food but the servers were nothing but rude and unhelpful. I normally get a flat white with oatmilk and sometimes also a veggie bagel. The coffee blend is extremely well-balanced, full-bodied and the brew-milk ratio is as close to perfect as it can be. The brew is slightly nougat-ish and cocoa-ish in terms of flavor. The Bagel is always well toasted, served with a small side of some veggies in the form of a salad, the cream cheese is super fresh, all the ingredients are apparently very fresh in general. Absolutely a delicious experience overall. Totally recommended.

If you like delicious breakfast with a fair price try Café Wohnraum! I think one of the best “healthy” breakfast in Cologne. You can have sandwiches or Salad too. Also good place for vegan breakfast.

While walking along the Rhine towards Köln, the sky grew dark and it started to rain. I knew it wasn't long before it came down hard, so I checked Google for a highly rated café nearby and found Suedgold. It was just before 9 (and the rain) when I walked in and noticed the warm atmosphere immediately - warm reclaimed gym floor, mixed seating, exposed brick wall, magazines, potted plants, and coffee bean sacks wrapping the walls. The sandwiches are made fresh daily and the coffee was just what I needed on an overcast morning. Has a table and also bench seating outside , WiFi and friendly server who chatted about the university, Köln city and Spotify 'acoustic covers' playlist. Glad I found this one.

Hidden gem in the city. Service was friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere was cozy. Quiet and generally young crowd, mostly university students from around the area. The prices were reasonable, great coffee and even better banana bread. Highly recommend. If you fancy a little break that's worth it, find yourself a spot here! It tends to get a little crowded over the weekends so I would recommend going in as they open or later in the evening.

I tried this branch since the downtown one had completely turned me away with their bad customer service and this one has as well. The staff has no patience for someone still learning German and making mistakes. If I’m spending 20 euros for a loaf of bread and 2 small cakes, at least make the customer experience worth it. One of the best places in cologne for all day breakfast, quick lunch as well as buying bakery products and pastries. The long communal tables mean that you will be able to find a seat after a short wait no matter how busy they are. Their coffee is nice and hot. The service is decent, and the food comes fast enough. Nice Coffee, Soggy Strudel. Nice service and atmosphere. Everything seems to be reasonably priced. The strudel was not up to the expectations of reading previous posts as it had been killed by microwave in warming it up.

Gilgen's Bäckerei is a pleasant spot to enjoy coffee and a good cake while sitting outside in the sun. However, I wish they offered more choices for vegan and vegetarian customers. Nice breads which is the main reason you go to a bakery of course. Went there for breakfast with my girlfriend and both ordered menu she ordered vegetarian I ordered all in. They delivered both all in we asked to have hers taken back as she's vegetarian... They took it to the back, removed the ham on it and brought it back. Everywhere still little pieces of ham on the cheese and the liquid front he ham as it's boiled still over it making it not the best experience.

A decent local bakery with a variety of bread, sweets and breakfast options. Has a comfy free parking lot in front of it. I'd suggest paying more attention to the quality of the coffee drinks made. They have everything to do it good, but they just don't... A barista workshop for all the employees would be cool. The place could get overcrowded over weekends with all the hikers from/to Zündorf.

Everything was excellent, delicious & healthy. Prices are very good! It is just a bit tight and perhaps during busy time the chef might need a helper/assistant. Highly recommended and it is located in lovely area!

Overall a nice place to have breakfast. They open at 10 the weekend and they have 6x 2 seat tables outside. They are gone by 10:05am so make sure to be here on time if you want to sit outside. If you manage this, you get a seat in the sun, good bagel breakfast selections, slightly on the pricier side for what you get but overall nice.

Although it’s kind of instagramable wasn’t the best. For the sandwich we paid 7,9€ which I think it’s too much for the taste, quantity and quality of the food. The hummus was made with too much lemon juice, the salmon was really bad and yeah… not really pleased. The stuff was also not really friendly. But the cappuccino was tasty. ☀️

We had an amazing breakfast at cafecafe. We both had a delicious smoothie, mine was a WARM hmmm almondmilk, banana, walnut and cinnamon smoothie. We both ordered the vegan breakfast, just because those flavours looked really good! A cute addition to it all were the jars of peanutbutter, jam and other sweets. Great way to give your costumers something extra. Great and friendly service! Next time I’m going to try the home made chai latte!

You can use this space as a Café that is perfect for working in or as a coworking space where you book yourself a table. 💻  great work environment! It's very calm, very quiet and good WiFi is available as well as power outlets. Perfect spot to spend the day working. You can claim your own desk with external monitor, very fast internet and infinite coffee/tea for just 25 euros. After requesting a vegan lunch, they made a bagel with hummus. Which was very nice. Will definitely come here again when I visit Keulen.

I am really happy to have found this place to sit and work, would really recommend for students/ digital workers. The atmosphere is very friendly and the working environment is just great. There are small little details that I find really nice in the place, like the techdesk mini skateboards on the table, water pistols next to the window area, and the plants. When asking the owner if I can borrow one of their books, he was really kind and open and did not verge away from having a small personal chat. Coming here next time I’m back in cologne!

What a treasure to stumble upon through asking advice from passers by for a reasonably priced place where I could take my dog. Wonderfully helpful, friendly and personable. Great coffee and ambient atmosphere aside, the principles behind this whole collective is "genial" to quote a German word. An absolute must if you're in the area. You can also pay to book a day on one of their computer workstations. My and my dog had a lovely lunch and I discovered a hugga reading corner and some excellent knitwear for sale whilst admiring the stylish layout. Great for Spanish speakers as Fabian is Spanish, otherwise perfect English and German. Immaculately clean too! Simply wow!

This is a lovely internet café that has a nice, in-house kitchen and coffee bar. We were playing at being digital nomads and, passing through Cologne, needed a high spec working space, including Ethernet cable access because we had a problem with a laptop. The staff at the café were super helpful, we had a very productive and pleasant day and, as a bonus, we met a few of the longer-term clients who were all friendly and working on interesting projects. If you need a place in the digital storm, choose here. It's pay as you go and reasonably priced.

We went here for breakfast and had a great experience. There was no wait we were seated right away. The waitress was very friendly, and they spoke English, which was helpful. The food was delicious and came out quickly. I definitely recommend this place! Plus, they accept card payments.

We tried two standout breakfast options: the apple-filled pancakes were fluffy and comforting with a lovely hint of cinnamon, while the egg and bacon bagel sandwich hit all the right savory notes: crispy, creamy, and filling. What made the morning feel even more special were the distant cathedral bells from Kölner Dom; echoing through the streets. The soft chimes carried an almost cinematic quality, evoking memories of older days and weaving them into the rhythms of modern life. Lint No. 7 doesn’t just serve breakfast it serves a moment of peace and joy. A place we’ll surely return to.

Cozy Breakfast Spot Near the Old Market We stopped here for breakfast and ordered the small breakfast, the Egg-Bacon-Bagel, and cappuccinos—all for under €40, which felt like a great deal. I really enjoyed my small breakfast: the roll was warm and fresh, and the included orange juice was light and refreshing. My boyfriend had the Egg-Bacon-Bagel. He’s not a fan of tomatoes and found there were more than he would have liked, but overall it was still a good, simple meal. The atmosphere was relaxing—a nice break from the busy energy of the nearby Old Market. We especially loved the thoughtful touches like blankets for the outdoor seating. The café is just steps away from the Tünnes and Schäl statues in the Alter Markt—rubbing their noses is said to bring good luck! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and we were pleasantly surprised by how well they spoke English—some of the best we’ve encountered while traveling in Germany. Overall, a lovely spot for a calm and casual start to the day.

The restaurant is in a very nice and calm square full of trees. Food was good, but I am not sure it was worth the price. The yogurt bowl with fruits and granola, for example, costs 11.90€ and comes with regular, simple corn flakes. The salty pancakes tasted good, but could use better presentation. The drinks are also quite expensive. 3.30€ for 200ml of orange juice straight from a box and 8.90€ for 750ml of water is simply unacceptable.

A lovely little gem tucked away on a calm, beautiful street with a charming view of a nearby Tünnes und Schäl statues. I sat outside and truly enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. The breakfast was delicious and hearty, every bite was a treat, and coffee was perfectly made. The place has a warm, personal feel, possibly family-run, waitress was incredibly kind and attentive. Everything about my visit was wonderful. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quiet spot with great food and genuine hospitality.

Waited 30’ to be served an already assembled plate. (We clearly see marks from another plates piled up on this one on the fridge) Said it’s served with tomato and cucumber —> 1 slice. Charging 16€ for a 2€ worth plate of food, nothing special, slow service, from a highly rated place is what motivates me posting this… Just one waitress trying to handle all sittings, she did well and I have to underline this, thanks for the service and fast served drinks.

Ordered my latest usual, which is a flat white with oatmilk. Really flavorful, high quality coffee, not that bitter, still strong enough, the dosage was very slightly on the lesser side, could've done with more coffee or could've foamed that oatmilk more. Otherwise one of the better experiences in the recent times.

It’s a very nice cafe, the apple tart I ordered was delicious but the coffee was just coffee and nothing special. Also there is NO TOILET, so that’s why there is only 3 stars.

Its a lovely coffee shop at Bonner Str. Which is opening at 7 am! They have very tasty sandwiches also Healthy options for a fair price. The coffe is very nice! Such a nice place to start the day or week. Or even having a cake during the day.

The barista is good: perfect foam and temperature. The sandwich ham+ cheese is delicious. -0.5 points because the coffee taste was slightly burned( maybe a little bit to dark roast)🤔 I will come back and try the coffee again…

After a few tries, the coffee remains hit and miss with mostly a lack of barista skills leading to a burned pour. The pastries are fine, with many frozen Italian baked goods on offer. Overall disappointing in a street with two excellent roasters to offer this inconsistent and poor coffee experience. Friendliness of service depends on staff on duty.

The barista had the best memory I had ever seen. I was here Karnival weekend and considering how busy it was they did an amazing job. Coffee is different to what you get in Australia but I wasn’t mad at it. ✨👌🏻 I had a doppio macchiato and it was kind of like two piccolos in one cup.

I love the way they make me stay, and eat cookies...but okay,.. Cookies could be roughly 30*40 cm .. other than that 6 ****** :)

Pros: - The cappuccino was delicious. - The option to browse and choose your favorite cake inside the cafe was enjoyable. Cons: - We experienced extended waiting times and had to request the bill from the waiter multiple times, despite the low number of patrons. - We handled the bill ourselves at the cafe. - Upon reviewing the bill, we noticed additional dishes that we hadn't ordered. Fortunately, after bringing it to their attention, we received a refund for those items. I would recommend checking your bill to ensure accuracy and avoid being charged for unordered items.

Lovely small café just a stone's throw away from the Eigelsteintorburg. Great spot for people watching, a small bite to eat and a good cup of coffee! They have good vegetarian and also some vegan options to choose from. The outside seating area is especially nice when it's warm out. Service is great, and very fast. Definitively a recommendation!

This cafe was packed when we went but we managed to squeeze in and enjoyed the experience. The bonus is that there is a baby changing table!

This cafe offers a wide range of hot beverages, most of them with the option to get them in vegan. Some cakes are plant based as well and they are fine - I've had worse but definitely better. The staff is quite friendly.

Asked the waitress if there was anything gluten free as I'm coeliac. she pointed out a fruit breakfast. I asked again if that was gluten free and she said yes. I had a spoon of it and released that it was oats. I asked again if it was gluten free and at the 3rd attempt she says that she needs to check the allergy book. she does and can't find it. she calls her manager to confirm. no response. then she asks me if the oats are usually gluten free and I said no.... I had to rush out and run to a pharmacy to start with (spend euro 20 on medicines) and then hospital as I was having cramps and feeling unwell. All you need in a business trip. the worse part is that I went back at the cafe' and asked them to refund at least the pharmacy cost (and apologise) and they asked me to send a mail. 2 days passed and they didn't even respond to my mails (the mail send via facebook is been viewed) neither asked me how I feel. Sad as I'm not looking into how to take this further to avoid them making the same mistake again in the future.

This place is an absolute must if you’re visiting Cologne. It’s got variety, it’s in a great location, and the service is genuinely welcoming. The moment you walk in, the smell of the food wraps around you, in the best way possible. And here’s a big plus: it’s one of the very few (if not the only one) that opens early. Travelers know how important that is when you’re exploring a new city. On top of that, the products are high-quality and everything I tried was delicious. I loved it—hope you get the chance to come and experience it too! Its not that big I went early so i didn’t have problem with room to sit but you can always take it to go or wait for a table. Don’t miss out!

Oma Jansen is a delightful lady who makes excellent coffee and has a range of superb breakfast rolls. It was very busy thanks to the football but we will be back to try the delicious looking scrambled eggs! Update: we came back. The scrambled eggs are fantastic. Cannot recommend highly enough for a breakfast treat

Super cute spot for breakfast or lunch. We got the traditional German breakfast experience here and it was very enjoyable. The staff are really friendly and the man who cooks all the hot food came by our table to chat with us a few times. I’m glad my fiance knows a little German lol. The inside is small and very cozy. The decor made me feel like I was having breakfast at my grandma’s house. I’d recommend having breakfast here if you visit.

We ordered catering from Caffettiamo for an event in Cologne and it was absolutely great! The trays were beautifully prepared and full of delicious food: mini pizzas and focaccia, stuffed sandwiches, cold cuts and cheeses, small salads in glasses, tasty skewers, and fresh fruit for decoration. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and had that authentic Italian touch. The presentation was elegant, and our guests really appreciated both the variety and the quality. Service was punctual and stress-free. Definitely recommended for parties or events in the city! 🇮🇹🍕

A unique experience of taste and hospitality! This Italian bar is a real gem. Every visit is a pleasure, thanks to the warm welcome of the staff and the excellent quality of the products offered. The cappuccino is creamy and delicious, and the desserts are a real temptation, especially the Sicilian cannoli, which are irresistible! The environment is cared for in the smallest details, with Italian music in the background that makes you feel like you are on vacation. A place that never disappoints!

Visited today 25.09.24 around 9:30-10:00 AM. They tried to charge me 3,20€ for hot water and tee, in the bill it is booked as Large Coffee Black. After objections i was confronted by two loud and unfriendly ladies working there. At a gaslighting attempt they stated that i pressed the button twice (not true at all) and got too much Hot water. Difference of 80¢ for hot water. I got a refund and told them i will never visit the store again at this rate. Walked in the city got the same tea ☕ for 2,40€.

Normal quality and good prices. This is a low-cost bakery concept. Its products are not the best but they are still pretty good for what you pay. If you are hungry, in a rush with a small budget try here. Sit and eat or take it to go. Great variety.

The staff was a bit surly. The food is okay. It seemed fairly fresh. Grabbing a bite at BackWerk is perfect when you want to sit to eat, but not spend a long time at it. Barbarossa Platz is a great location.

Clean, clinically simple, with high chair and low chair zones and a visible bakery lab at the back. I doubt though that they prepare their dough and the sweeter pieces locally.

Hempies is a Vegan Bakery and Cafe with Australian standard coffees (delicious, meticulous, and with creme art) and MIND-BLOWING delicious creme-filled croissants! Friendly, smiling staff. Mixed seating arrangements. A little pricey but worth the random visits whenever I visit Köln (Cologne) for Vegan Activism Events with the organisations: Anonymous for the Voiceless AND/OR Neon Black. Go Vegan and then also get involved with Activism to help wake up other Humans to be vegan amd activist also. As more and more Humans begin living by the Vegan Ethical Principle: that Humans should live without exploiting other animals... THEN the planet will have more amazing establishments like HEMPIES everywhere!! 👍✌️🙏💪😘🥰🌿🌏

Beautiful cosy vegan place, lots of plants and good relaxing music. Very friendly staff! Great selection of drinks, sandwiches displayed looked very tasty, also croissants of different flavours. All vegan! I had the mozzarella tomato and pesto sandwich - even though I live in London I haven't ever come across vegan mozzarella in a sandwich before!! It was delicious. Very highly recommend for breakfast/brunch/lunch/snacks/coffee/anything.
