Vegetarian restaurant
Chum Chay is a hidden gem located in a courtyard on Friesenwall, offering authentic Vietnamese cuisine with a focus on vegetarian and vegan dishes. The menu features an array of plant-based options including noodle soups, rice paper rolls, curries, and daily specials. The restaurant's charming ambiance makes it an ideal spot to savor healthy and delicious Vietnamese food while enjoying tropical drinks.
I will start by saying this was my first experience with Vietnamese food. The menu is small, which is good because it means the restaurant specializes in a few dishes. There is a good mix of rice dishes and soups, some mild and some spicier. Many of the dishes also had tofu as well as various nuts. The restaurant offers both local beers and a few asian beers. The food was quite delicious. The portion sizes were plentiful and well presented. Service was pleasant and quick. All the foods are reasonably priced. There is outdoor and indoor seating but it is limited and bigger parties may have to wait. Outdoor tables are shared amongst patrons - which isn't really my thing hence 4/5 stars there but definitely to be expected with limited seating. Someone near us did smoke which is why i down voted slightly. Overall it was a great experience, delicious food, friendly and prompt service, reasonably priced, and worth checking out.

One of my best experiences with Thai and vegetarian dishes! I absolutely loved it!! Begging with appetizers, having the main course, drinks, and finally the heavenly dessert. A truly delicious journey! Tofu in all dishes was so soft and flavoured. Some options are a bit spicy so be careful if you are sensitive to spicy food.
Fateme M — Google review
An unbiased comment: Positives First: (As long as you don't encounter the unfortunate accident I will write about below) it’s a good place to get to know Vietnamese food culture. The food is delicious. Portions are large and extremely filling. The menu is extensive and the place has a warm atmosphere. Let's get to the negatives: Since it is a very small restaurant, you have to sit close to people. There is always a queue at the door and waiting in this queue is tiring. They may give you a little shock in 2024, as only cash payments are accepted. The waiters are very tired; It is normal that they cannot handle this intensity, but inevitably this makes you nervous too. Worst of all, there was a strand of hair at the bottom of our bowl. We are not prissy people and we didn't make a scene. No matter how bad it is, it can happen to you in places like this. But from now on, you should consider wearing a chef's hat or bonnet.
Yolumuzun Ü — Google review
I’ve been to this restaurant several times now, and it never disappoints. The food is consistently fresh, and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients in every dish. It’s clear they care about what they serve and where it comes from. From the first bite to the last, everything feels thoughtfully prepared. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place that values freshness and flavor!
Afrouz A — Google review
I've been there several times over the last years and they don't disappoint. Food is yummy with fresh ingredients and the portions are big. Prices are fair, which makes me happy, since the cost of life is so expensive. Here you can treat yourself with a home made drink for 5.5€ and a good meal for 12-14€. The staff is patient and friendly. I recommend you to arrive there early to grab a table without waiting (we met with my friend at 17:30) and we were eating by 18 hrs. The food is anyway worth waiting for. We had the green curry (with udon noodles) and I had the yellow curry. Will definitely come back again!
Cotte C — Google review
Only takes cash! Drinks were great, as was the atmosphere. Food was a little disappointing, a little bland but with a lot of coriander (that I personally don’t enjoy, and always ask for people not to include, but it wasn’t mentioned as an ingredient on the menu, so I didn’t.)
J G — Google review
We always go for the vegan options, and since this is a fully vegan restaurant – the very first in Köln, as I was told – the choice was easy. It was a real joy. The food was very tasty and left us full in a pleasant, satisfying way. We sat inside because all the tables outside were already taken. I’d recommend reserving a table before you go – we were just lucky to get one.
Kenneth F — Google review
I think even 5 stars are less for the food and overall experience. I am a huge fan of Vietnamese cuisine and this restaurant food stole my heart ❤️ Every dish we have ordered from starters to main course was super delicious 🤤 The quantity of the main-course was really good. I think it’s worth waiting in the queue for this delicious food. I am sure I will be coming back again and again.

Chinese restaurant

Ramen restaurant
Nestled just off the bustling tourist trail in Cologne, Bai Lu Noodles is a charming little haven that invites you to indulge in the vibrant world of Chongqing-style cuisine. This cozy restaurant, run by Xue Bai, breaks away from the typical Chinese dining experience with its modern decor and thoughtful touches that reflect a genuine connection to Chinese culture. The menu is a delightful exploration of authentic flavors, featuring standout dishes like perfectly fried pork that strikes an ideal balance between crispiness and tenderness.
My husband fancied Chinese food for his birthday and with the many great reviews, we decided to Bai Lu Noodles a shot. So glad we did, we arrived close to closing but we were able to get a table quickly and ordered as fast as we could. We went for the beef noodles as well as two portions of dumplings - absolutely delicious. Everything arrived promptly and was super fresh. The staff were really friendly and accommodating especially considering it was close to closing time! Would definitely recommend.
Hayley H — Google review
A small and friendly restaurant with nice atmosphere. The spicy glass noodle was super with original taste. The appetizer fried pork and cold meat are also great! But the spicy potato and chicken noodles we ordered are more localized, not original Chuan style. Have to wait in the line, better book a seat in advance. Service is great and foods come fast.
S. Z — Google review
We were really excited about the homemade noodle, but it was already sold out. But that is not the reason for 4 stars. We took rice noodles with different soup, since the lady said the soup is the same. The beef soup is really, really bland, the meat is tough. It's pretty disappointing. Chicken soup is fine. Not wow. The wanton soup is the best of all, and it has quite a distinguished taste. We also ordered lots of small dishes, and sadly, they are all pretty average. That's why i give 4 stars, the place has potential but somehow, the taste of the food is somewhat missing. The restaurant is really small and inside seatings are pretty clamp.
Li F — Google review
So good spicy 🌶️ dishes. Dumplings are amazing. Pork belly so nice and potato also with a lot of spice 👍🏻 lemonade very good helper to eat it together. Yes, I’m not a noodle eater here, but I like Chinese spices✨
Kate R — Google review
Great little authentic noodle shack. Freshly made noodles which were bouncy and soup was full of deep bold flavours. Beef was a little too tough and not much of it. Good selection of vegetarian options and dry vs wet noodle options. Venue is somewhat small with mostly high bar stool seating good for couples but probably not great for larger groups of 5 or more. Would recommend booking as it can get busy. Service was quick and staff friendly
Em H — Google review
Amazing noodle dishes, both with soup and without. Spicy to the right level and filled with taste. The moon cake is amazing, served warm. Highly recommended
Matteo C — Google review
We had dumpling soup and beef noodle. For us it was average. The soup was a bit bland and doesn't taste so well. I like the dumpling and the noodle. Beef was okay. The lady was nice.

One of our best meals in the city. It feels very authentic. We weren’t able to book a table and the place is tiny, but we were lucky we were staying near so we went to check on a Saturday at about 9pm and were able to find a table for 2

Vegan restaurant
Udum I Vegan Restaurant is a trendy Asian eatery that offers a fusion of plant-based delights. From vegan sushi with realistic 'salmon' to vibrant summer rolls and an array of appetizers, bowls, and sushi options, this place has it all. The restaurant in Cologne serves up authentic Vietnamese dishes alongside modern interpretations of sushi and fusion cuisine - all completely vegan. With its chic ambiance, Udum provides the perfect setting for enjoying a delightful Asian vegan meal with friends or on a date.
This is the best Asian restaurant I have been to in Cologne. The ambience is nice and is very cozy. The staff is friendly and toilets are super clean. The dishes are mind blowing. I personally recommend pink lady dish. It is very innovative. Moreover the presentation of the food was also beautiful. The service is super fast. We went there on Sunday evening without reservation and we were able to get the table. Every food item in the menu is super tasty and fully vegan that I can visit this restaurant every week.
Ishu M — Google review
One of the best vegetarian Vietnamese restaurants abroad that I had been to. I had the bun bo soup bowl, it's actually very close to the vegetarian bun bo bowls that I had back in Vietnam. My Indian friend loved the Vietnamese iced coffee (with condensed milk). We also had the spring rolls and the spicy tuna rolls and enjoyed them very much. The staff was very nice. Overall great experience and I can attest to the quality here as I had been to many vegetarian places (including those in Vietnam, New York and Houston).
Kien H — Google review
This was honestly up there with the best food I’ve ever eaten! When the food arrived to the table I already had a feeling it would be great. But wow this was delicious. Highly recommend eating here, even if you normally don’t eat vegan. The people here were also very friendly
Erin C — Google review
Been here multiple times and never disappointed ! Their Pho noodles has the best vegetarian broth—rich, flavorful, and packed with fresh veggies. Generous portions too! The Fresh Me Up drink with Aloe Vera & lychee. So good, I had two glasses. Refreshing and addictive! Plus, the friendly staff and great atmosphere make it even better. A must-visit, vegan or not!
Pei H — Google review
Visited while on holiday, one of the best restaurants we've ever been too. We went twice because we loved it so much. Great atmosphere, beautifully presented food, delicious and memorable experience. Only downside to be aware of is it was "cash-only", which may or may not be an issue.

Amazing food, very big portions. Nice vibe and decor. Only take cash so just be aware of that. Lettuce was used as a garnish on most dishes which was very bitter so not very edible, seemed like a waste of food. Took a long time to get the bill

Restaurant
Hankki Köln is a popular Korean restaurant located in Belgisches Viertel, Cologne. The menu features a single item: crispy fried Korean chicken, available in sweet and spicy yangnyum or ganjang soy sauce flavors. Customers praise the delicious Jjajang Tteokbokki and Cheese Tteokbokki, as well as the finger-licking good fried chicken with sticky sauce.
A great Korean restaurant with delicious Korean fried chicken and other (non) traditional Korean dishes. The service was great and fast, even though the personnel was in stress as the restaurant was constantly full. I highly recommend to reserve a table in advance, because the waiting time can be over 30 minutes for a table.
Wadim — Google review
If you’re hanging out for proper Korean food while you’re in Germany, this is the spot!❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥Legit flavours that taste just like the real deal🇰🇷🇰🇷🇰🇷No complaints at all, the fried chicken was absolutely unreal. Super crispy, juicy inside, massive portion and the price is bloody good value for what you get. Just get yourself there, you won’t regret it🙈🪭
Pipit O — Google review
One of the best Korean Fried Chicken! Very authentic Korean cuisine. Tried their Tofu Stew soup and Japchae for dinner on our first day in Köln. Food was delicious but didn’t ordered their fried chicken. Returned again for their bibimbap and KFC. Their soy coated fried chicken(boneless) are amazingly well-fried. Boneless chicken rarely tastes so good! Visited twice and the restaurant can get very crowded during early dinner service too. This is a gem!
Tan C — Google review
First time going there with my friends! The atmosphere was great and of course the food was 10/10! I felt like I was back in Seoul :D Will surely return to try the 후라이드 치킨 ~~^^
Alisha K — Google review
I saw a video of this place on Tiktok and decided to try it out. They are famous for their fried chicken but being alone, I saw that the portions were too big and settled for a bibimbap. It was delicious, wish they had a small portion try out version for the fried chicken.
Heidy T — Google review
Very good Korean restaurant! Came here with my Korean wife and it was definitely the best Korean fried chicken that we had outside of Korea. Service was nice, helpful and polite. Price is really reasonable as well and they pack anything you can't finish and want to take. Will visit again.
Emil K — Google review
This place is my monthly ritual (I used to even every fortnight before I got busy with work). I don't live in Köln mind you, so it really tells how addicted I am to their food. Best fried chicken in the whole entire NRW area. They are so crispy but juicy at the same time. Like how??? For me it's best paired with their sweet spicy soy sauce (Ganjang). my next favorite dishes would be their stews and japchae. Beyond the food, I also appreciate their hospitality and the plethora of side dishes. If I walk in, I always try to come outside of the meal times on weekends cause the waitlist could be long. Additionally, sometimes it happens that you need to wait for about 40 mins to get the chicken esp. when the restaurant is crowded. I think they are working to improve this tho cause my experience now is so much improved compared to a few years before. I really hope this place goes even bigger and that many more get to enjoy this place.
E E — Google review
Ordered the fried dumplings and the classic fried chicken. They serve you a quite nice cabbage salad before your meal, giving you two sauces, some MSG and pickled radish, which is a great palette cleanser. The dumplings were very, very good, crispy on the outside, mushy on the inside, they were slightly under-seasoned but with the sauces etc. one could enjoy them quite a bit. The chicken also seemed a bit under-seasoned but had an incredibly soft texture, at least most of the pieces and in combination with the sauces and the MSG it was actually quite a good experience. Good stuff, overall.

Ramen restaurant
Japanese restaurant
Restaurant
Ramen Bar Takezo is a no-frills establishment that focuses on delivering exceptional flavors. Their aromatic broth is simmered for over ten hours, and their ramen noodles are made in-house. The menu offers a variety of options including Shoyu Ramen, Miso Ramen, and Tantan Men Ramen, each with its own distinct flavor profile. Since December, the Ramen Bar has expanded to Cologne, offering over 15 different types of ramen to satisfy local diners.
After surviving two days of stomach chaos, I needed a meal that could restore my faith in food — and Ramen Bar Takezo delivered. The broth? Liquid gold. The pork belly? So tender I almost cried. And the butter on top? Pure genius. On top of that, the service was super quick and the staff were genuinely friendly — you can tell they care about both the food and the people eating it. If you need a bowl of ramen that will comfort your soul and your stomach at the same time, this is the place. Consider me a loyal fan — I’d fly back to Cologne just for this.
Louisa M — Google review
One of good authentic ramen spots in cologne. The ramen is tasty and there are few options to choose from. The price is reasonable when compare to the portion and quality. The place can get really crowded both lunch and dinner time, especially on weekends. Reservations is recommended to avoid long waiting.

Super good food! Definitely worth eating here. Ramen are greater, gyozas are insane and beer is nice!
Martin C — Google review
Without a doubt, this is some of the greatest ramen broth in all of Europe and would easilly be served with pleasure in Japan. The restaurant is unassuming but the food most certainly speaks volumes. Absolutely incredible and it is too bad to leave Cologne without having more.

The miso ramen was really tasty! The place is simple, the service was fast and friendly. The ramen doesn’t include an egg in the basic price and comes without nori, but it was still delicious 😋.

Takumi Japanisches Chicken & Vegan Ramen Restaurant Köln is a renowned ramen spot that has expanded from Dusseldorf to Cologne, offering a variety of traditional and new options. The diverse and well-spiced menu includes vegan options alongside marinated chicken and spicy leak ramen. Despite being crowded and slightly pricey, the overall experience is highly recommended for its delicious food, great service, and cool ambiance.
Very nice ramen restaurant with a good variety of ramens. The service was very fast and friendly. The restaurant’s atmosphere was very cool with Japanese styled posters.

We came close to closing time and the owner (i suppose), still served us. We had the fried squid, some ramen and drinks. Price is fair for the quantity of food. The fried squids were reaply good, the ramen is ok. The interior of the restaurant is very nice.

Takoyaki and the vegan ramens we tried were amazing. We especially like the white tantan vegan ramen, the curry croquettes give richness to the mixture. Although the tomato was a bit out of place in my opinion to be honest. Serving time could be improved, especially for the appetizer (takoyaki).

Came here for the first time from Belgium, needless to say I had a blast in here. The food was exquisite, I was very full when I finished eating. Brauerei zur Malzmühle is a historic family brewery that has been in operation for 150 years. It offers modern rooms, casual dining, and a traditional beer hall. The brewery is renowned for its signature Mühlen Kölsch beer, brewed using traditional methods since 1858. Located in the heart of the Old Town, this establishment has welcomed notable guests such as former President Bill Clinton and German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer.
Cool atmosphere, good Kölsch. The food was also good. Definitely a good idea to make a reservation if you want to get a table (specially in the weekend).

I had an amazing experience at Brauerei zur Malzmühle! This historic brewery offers an authentic Cologne atmosphere with a cozy and lively setting. The service was friendly and efficient, even though the place was quite busy. The Kölsch beer here is one of the best I’ve had—fresh, crisp, and served the traditional way. The food was fantastic, with hearty portions of classic German dishes. The location is great, just a short walk from the city center, making it perfect for tourists and locals alike. If you’re looking for an authentic Cologne brewery experience with great beer and food, Malzmühle is the place to go!

Enjoyed a late lunch and kolsch beer at this 170 year old brewery. It was busy but seated immediately. The kolsch flows as it should in Cologne. The large currywurst was just that large. Excellent flavor sausage with sauce and thick fries. The gnocchi was in a rich tomato sauce with perfect seasoning and spicy. It was a wonderful stop.
Donna T — Google review
My 5th brauhaus experience and the best. However, that might just be because it was a Saturday night and even some locals said that the live music was an unexpected bonus. SUPER busy, but they kept me watered while I waited and I ended up sharing a table with a lovely couple. As per every brauhaus, the food is tasty, comes quickly, and is a good portion. Also, reasonable value for money. Table service is a lovely thing, and was both efficient and friendly. Highly recommended!

**Restaurant Review: Mühlen Kölsch** Tucked away in an unassuming, weathered building, Mühlen Kölsch has been serving authentic German cuisine since 1858. The entrance is a unique experience—guests pass through antique wooden revolving doors covered by thick curtains, briefly plunging them into darkness before stepping directly into the bustling dining area. The atmosphere is rustic and historic, with aged wooden tables and walls adorned with nostalgic photographs of Germany’s past. Seating is informal, with the nearest server guiding guests to an open spot. The service is efficient and quintessentially German—beers arrive almost immediately, so if you prefer otherwise, be sure to decline upfront. Refills come regularly, maintaining the lively, traditional beer hall feel. The food is nothing short of excellent. A crisp side salad with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots, dressed in a tangy, French-inspired dressing, was a refreshing start. The potato soup, rich and velvety, paired perfectly with crusty bread, ideal for dipping. For the main courses, the rump steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, topped with a flavorful herbed butter, and accompanied by crispy potatoes and a small side salad. The roast pork cutlet was a standout—tender and smothered in a thick, savory gravy reminiscent of a comforting Thanksgiving meal. Mühlen Kölsch delivers on its promise of authentic German cuisine with hearty portions, traditional flavors, and an old-world ambiance. For those seeking an immersive German dining experience with excellent service and history-rich surroundings, this spot is a must-visit.

Very local restaurant, friendly staff and good service. Food was very delicious, the crispy pork knuckle was to the point. The chicken salad was also tasty. Kölsches wasser with different flavour was also great. Good price quality food👍 Highly recommended!

Really nice restaurant and (bier) brewery near Köln city centre; not too expensive when compared to other similar restaurants, the plates are big and served fast. The service is nice to costumers, but the beer choices are not as many as expected. Overall, I would recommend

The restaurant's decor is inspired by birch forests and nature, creating a cozy and beautiful setting for dining. Visitors have praised the delicious burgers made with high-quality bread and meat, as well as the original combinations of flavors. The ice teas are refreshing, and the service is described as fast and friendly.
This is such a beautiful cafe/restaurant. Unique in its style and my wife and I loved it. The food was excellent, as was the service from our wonderfully smiley and friendly waitress after an initial slow start from somebody else. We stayed for a cocktail after our meal, such was the joy of relaxing here and the next time we're back in Cologne, I would definitely visit again.

HANS IM GLÜCK - KÖLN Am Ring is a top-notch burger joint in Cologne! 🍔👍 The unique atmosphere and mouth-watering burgers are a must-try. We visited and left feeling satisfyingly full 😋. The staff are super friendly, adding to the great experience. Perfect for city explorers and late-night dining! 🌃

Let me start with the services and Ahmed, very professional as well as the other staff and extremely helpful. Eye for detail and customer service fantastic, thanks Ahmed. Atmosphere nice, very nice set-up...venue. I decided to take the smashed burger; is it the best? Not, it's average, but I gave them 5/5 for everything else...I've tried better smashed burger, but this one for sure good quality and overall experience, 5 stars. 🤩💯👏 #CustomerService #Hotel #Venue #Burger #Experience #Staff

We've been twice to an Hans im Gluck in a 10 days holidays in Germany to tell how much we loved it. The burgers are absolutely delicious, the combinations of tastes are original, the bread and the meat are of very good quality. The ice teas are also incredibly fresh and tasty. The sauces too are original and very tasty. Each time we encountered a spotless, fast and friendly service by the waiters. The decoration is very cute, inspired by birch forests & nature, it feels cozy. Totally recommend trying this restaurant, we loved everything :)

Beautiful place! Feels like you’re dining in a forest and the service is as good as you’ll probably get in Germany. Burgers are yummy but the fries were dry. Sauces were very bland.

Today we went for some burgers to Hans im Glück. We had a great time! The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was really cozy. Our waitress Kira was super friendly and did an amazing job. She spoke very good Englisch by the way and made us feel very welcome. We’ll definitely come back!

Tonight I went to Hans im Glueck am Ring — it was my first time in Cologne. The food and drinks came out really fast The waiter was really nice and started talking with me. He explained the menu in Arabic in a really good way. I asked if the meat was halal, and he was honest and said no, but they had a Vegetarian burger. It was my first time trying one with spinach and cheese, and honestly, it was super tasty! This is what I called a good service

Hommage Café is a charming spot nestled in the vibrant city of Cologne, specifically in the Friesenviertel on Friesenstrasse. The café offers a welcoming outdoor area and a cozy atmosphere inside, adorned with an eclectic mix of furnishings and colorful accessories. Guests can indulge in hand-roasted coffee, delectable pastries, and a diverse selection of healthy, vegetarian, and vegan dishes for breakfast or brunch.
Homage Café in Cologne was a real gem — a cozy, charming spot with a lot of heart and attention to detail. We tried two dishes: the sweet pancakes and a savory crêpe with egg, and both were fantastic. The pancakes were beautifully presented — a stack of fluffy goodness topped with creamy sauce, coconut flakes, pistachio crumbs, and a fresh raspberry on top. Surrounding the plate were colorful slices of fruit like strawberries, apple, kiwi, grapes, and orange, making it not only delicious but a real feast for the eyes. It felt fresh, light, and not overly sweet — just perfect for a brunch treat. The savory crêpe was equally impressive. The buckwheat crêpe was thin yet hearty, filled with fresh ingredients, topped with a perfectly cooked sunny-side-up egg, peppery arugula, a sprinkle of sesame seeds, and a drizzle of a sweet balsamic glaze. Every bite had a great balance between savory, peppery, and slightly sweet flavors — really creative and satisfying. The atmosphere at Homage Café was very relaxed, with a bit of a vintage touch, making it a great place to slow down and enjoy your food. The staff were friendly and welcoming, adding to the positive vibe. Overall, Homage Café is a must-visit if you’re looking for a delicious, well-crafted brunch in Cologne. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Really cozy vibes, I loved the vintage style tables and decoration. There were this cute napkin notes inside of the table drawers with messages and poems <3. The pancakes was far beyond my expectations, with lots of fruit and this really yummy runny almond butter!! Note that you can’t pay with card here, but it’s definitely worth a trip to the atm (or use PayPal)
Lotte C — Google review
We stopped by Hommage Café for a spontaneous breakfast and were able to get a table right away, which was great. However, the space is extremely tight — very little room between tables and not the most comfortable seating. The ordering concept also felt a bit off: you find a seat first, then queue at the bar without a menu, order there, and later queue again at the same bar to pay. It created an unnecessary hassle and took away from the experience. That said, the food itself was nicely prepared and beautifully presented — you can tell they put care into it. The coffee, on the other hand, was rather average. Although nicely presented, for my taste the cappuccino had way too much milk and lacked balance. Tasted more like hot chocolate. Overall, good food, admirable effort, but the setup and comfort could be a bit better.

The food was absolutely amazing, gluten free, dairy free options. Our pancakes were well presented, so tasty! We also had freshly squeezed OJ- lovely fresh start to the morning. The real downsides lay in the means of paying- only PayPal or cash. We hadn’t seen this on the sign when we arrived. Only carried 15 Euros around as most European cities I’d been in lately were cashless. So me and my partner struggled our way to make a PayPal account which took longer than we fancied. Also no toilet :(

Very disappointing experience. We had to wait over an hour for our food, even on a Monday when it wasn’t busy at all. The service was poor, and our spring roll was still frozen inside. The atmosphere was far from pleasant the bright lights give you a headache. Overall, a very bad experience. We won’t be coming back. We honestly don’t understand how this place gets good ratings. Really really bad…

This restaurant is incredible! The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, and the service goes above and beyond. The staff are so kind and attentive — they even noticed my dish was too spicy for me and surprised me with a milder version without me asking. The portions are generous, yet everything was so good that my sisters and I finished more than we usually would. A truly memorable dining experience — bravo to the chef and the amazing team!

Nice authentic Thai restaurant, my kids love the Pad Thai with shrimps there while I was amazed by the Tom Yum Soup and Green Curry with Pork. We have also ordered the Thai Platter and the portion is huge, but only the Satay Skewers and Fish Cakes got the scores.

Stumble across this gem of a Thai restaurant, while I was driving to cologne. This is as authentic as the food is going to get. I chose to go with Krapow Crispy pork as the main dish. My wife had the Salmon Curry. I had to say that they were delicious. The Tom Yum soup is pretty much like what they served in Thailand. Rest assured that you are eating excellent Thai food here. I definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone who had a craving for Thai food.

Perfect langoustine, the risotto is a star on its own, while the bolognese served with the lamb was delicious! Very good French wines. Good service and the location is very pretty. It is an expensive place so good to keep that in mind.

My husband and I were in town for work and a friend back home suggested this restaurant. I was able to make a reservation online which I appreciated, since I don’t speak German. I was able to correspond with the restaurant via email and they were very quick to reply. Yelp has this listed as formal attire and so I quickly emailed them to cancel my reservation. I got an immediate reply back stating that was not the case. I was so relieved! We walked there from our hotel and as we got closer, I was sure we were going the wrong way. Luckily google led us correctly and we arrived right on time. There was no door to open, rather you pulled a thick curtain back and you are immediately transported into a lovely French bistro. You are greeted by a host to confirm your reservation and then seated. Several people waited on us in English. Our menu was also in English. We decided to do the tasting menu with wine pairing. We were not disappointed. Every single dish was not only a beautiful presentation, but it was seasoned perfectly and tasted divine. The service was also super attentive and friendly! My husband and I both agreed that this was by far the best meal we’ve ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant and even though the price point was on the higher end, it was absolutely worth every single euro!

Not worth it, don’t even waste your money. Food is mediocre and overpriced. Chef was offended when we asked if the fish could be cooked a bit more (undercooked) and denied that it was. Not too much going on in Cologne in terms of French cuisine, which explains why they even got two Michelin stars. I’ll take a trip to France to get better French cuisine. Meh.

I was recommended this place by a friend who lives in Cologne, who mentioned that it's one of the best ramen restaurants in the city, and he was absolutely right! The Miso Ramen was just sublime, and the Karaage and spicy shrimp dumplings were also tasty. The atmosphere was pleasant, the staff are friendly and helpful. Really fun place to eat small dishes. They make great cocktails and other drinks. Food is very good and they have a lot of Asian dishes. Only critique would be their ramen, it is far too little and the broth flavor is not as deep.

The lunch menu was decent. Delicious and not too pricy. Drink was tasty too. I'm just curious why the food are lukewarm, not hot. The temperature of the food are a bit too low... When I come one on Monday afternoon, the smell in the restaurant was terrible. There was a strong odor like rotten meat when I enter the restaurant. And once in a while there are odors that resembles moldy refrigerator/ moldy toilet flow to our area. It was not so pleasant...Besides the air quality, and food temperature, everything else was good...

🍜 Came in for a late night dinner around 9pm and sat at the Bar to watch the chef make sushi. 🍜 We ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen and the Shio Ramen with a couple of Hot Green Tea 🍵 🍜 The Shio Ramen was pretty bland with no Flavor and the chicken Chashiu just doesn’t taste as good as the tradition pork Chashiu. The Spicy Miso Ramen was pretty good. The broth was very tasty and the noodles were delicious. Asked for extra hot water for our tea and just FYI you’ll be charge for a second tea so might as well get a new bag of Green Tea. 🍜 Service was average, the place is fairly small. The vibe was casual with young people just casually talking. Very laid back and you really don’t have to dress up for this spot.

this all vegan restaurant has a big variety of different burgers and other dishes. With the nice atmosphere sitting outside and the friendly staff we had a very good time. WOW! We absolutely loved it. Came for a late lunch on Sunday and it was easy to find a table. The waitress was great and the menu is nothing but fantastic. I love that they are almost completely organic (items that are not, are marked), and there is a beautiful variety of gluten-free dishes. We all had burgers and fries and it was deeeelish- especially the black bean patty. Must go when in Köln!
Lydia C — Google review
We were here for Sunday brunch. We enjoyed it but there is some room for improvement, especially for the price. A relatively large part of the brunch is stuff we could have bought at the local biomarkt (vegan cheese, vegan sausage, vegan honey for example). But there were some self made options as well, we enjoyed the tofu scrambled egg and baked tomatoes. We would have loved to have some fresh raw veggies like cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce. All in all: everything was pretty tasty and we will probably come back for a second time when we want to have a relaxed vegan brunch. And the staff was very nice!

All VEGAN!!! On my first day i had "chicken" and "pulled pork" vegan burgers.. they were made with jackfruit and mushrooms etc.. super nice!!! Loved it! Two days later, i came with another friend and i had the vöner (vegan Döner).. i asked for extra Tzatziki because i like my Döner drowning in sauce! The waiters were nice! I loved the place. Definitely coming back again!!

Did enjoy my 2.5 hour visit - we came on Sunday at 12:30, turned out brunch buffet is on and no Burgers before 14:30. So we let the kids have the brunch and waited patiently for the burgers. The stuff was really nice, but I actually expected that we'll be the first they'll approach when they start serving lunch, since they knew we are waiting for the burgers, but for some reason, they chose to serve other (newer) customers first 🤔. The burgers were good, some more then the others (the BBQ one was the best), but probably a bit overrated. I had better vegan burgers before, but guess I come back again.

Haus Müller is a charming restaurant located in Cologne, offering contemporary German cuisine in an elegant dining room adorned with plants and chandeliers. It's known for its elevated German dishes, deviating from the traditional pork schnitzel or fried pork knuckle. The location is described as pretty and cozy, making it a favorite neighborhood spot and a hidden gem in the area.
We had an unforgettable experience at Haus Müller, and we owe it all to Angelo and his incredible hospitality. From the moment we arrived, Angelo made sure we felt right at home. He kindly offered us tastings of both white and red wine to help us decide which to start with, and he took the time to explain the menu in great detail, allowing us to make the best choices. The food and the atmosphere were absolutely amazing! The white wine was a perfect match, and the special menu beetroot dish was simply out of this world! What truly stood out was Angelo’s exceptional service. Despite the restaurant being fully booked, when 6 more friends suddenly joined us, Angelo worked his magic and managed to set up another table for us. Throughout the night, he was always there to help, from opening windows to accommodating more requests, including setting up a second table for an additional 8 guests. It was our last night in Koln, and thanks to Angelo, it was made even more special. We can’t thank him enough for his efforts and for making our evening so memorable.❤️

My best meal in cologne The restaurant is located off the usual tourist spot of cologne but it is 'the' place that you should dine for exceptional food and atmosphere Food The restaurant serve local fare, but no not pork knuckle. They do have a good variety of options and seasonal menu. I trieed salad and ox cheek. Both are very good. Atmosphere Sitting outside with the wind blows on your face and the cathedral bell, what can be better than that. 🙂🙂🙂 this is prob the closest you can find a local life in cologne. Service, nice and professional. Verdict, its a must place if you are looking for exceptional food and local atmosphere. I spent 50 euro for 1 starter, 1 main, 1 beer, 1 wine and 1 still water.

Everything we ordered was delicious but the beef tartare with truffle mayo was a standout. Probably the best I’ve ever had. We ordered a second. The sourdough bread was perfect. Cucumber Negroni was also a standout, although the pour felt short for the price. The decor and atmosphere were nice, dark and moody, and the music was just the right volume. This place is modern and upscale without being stuffy. Definitely my favorite restaurant I’ve been to in Cologne so far. Will be back.

Dellicious food in a cozy atmosphere. The service is hit and miss depending on the staff member. The food is not cheap, but I think it is worth the price. Some drinks are reasonably priced, but most of them are quite overpriced.

Husband surprised me with dinner here and it is a fun and cute place. Our placemats were old laser discs (of Waterworld, I had sides 1&2 and he had 3&4) and a general vibe of film kitsch was threaded through the decor. The staff were friendly and welcoming, with a personal casualness that felt very relaxing. At some points one of the chefs or owners came around to ask how things were and tell us more about the dishes (if we wanted). We had some questions about the food, because they tout their dry-aged lamb and we wanted to know what "atom yoghurt" was. Straight answers, friendly and informative. Oh, and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend the lamb, and the dips - particularly the aforementioned atom yogurt. If you like a little heat, you'll appreciate the punch that this packs. Great evening overall. Parking is a little tight, but hey, it's nice that there's dedicated parking for the restaurant. Would go again x

Very tasty, both lamb and fish are very well grilled and seasoned. Not on the cheap side (~20€ pee meal) but definitely worth it. Homemade lemonades are nice as well and I like the style of the room with old Turkish movie posters on the wall. Easy recommendation for me.

If you are from Turkey and/or speak Turkish you probably have a good experience here but we were not treated in a very polite way as one would expect. Non Turks were seated in the front where it is way less cozy and cold, waiter seemed to have started that day not seeming to know anything about the menu, main courses came 30 min before starters and we had to ask for the check 4 times before walking back searching for our coats and threatening to just leave when finally they could produce a bill. Still had to haggle over the incorrect things on it and so all in all I would never recommend this to anyone (and I even speak German). Girl behind the bar was extremely rude. I’ve given it 3 stars because the food was good and 1 star reviews tend to be overlooked.

Food is okay, literally okay. The service is horrible. No people checking on you during the whole dinner. Bread is not delivered until the end of dish. Checking took half-year. Seems they don’t have enough staff that day. Plenty of Turkish restaurants in Cologne, to avoid bad service, you have other alternatives.

Café Schmitz is a spacious and cozy spot located between the Hansaring or Eberplatz stops, offering a delightful dining experience. The café is popular among locals for its delicious breakfast and lunch options, including spätzle pasta, quiches, and traditional German breakfast fare like Sonntagsfruhstuck. The menu also features heart portions of pancakes, bacon and eggs, French toast, and Kölsch beer.
Everything was nice. The blokes who took care of our table were kind. They even helped us out with our drink selection and even switched to English for us. I had the Aperol spritz and the Apfel Strudel. They both were delicious. The cafe has chilled vibes and pets are allowed inside. I saw lil good doggo in the cafe. So nice. I would go again.

Food 4 | Service 5+ | Atmosphere 5 Came here because of online recommendations. The staff for sure are super friendly with nice smiles and extremely helpful. The gentleman, who served me, helped me out on the German menu. He also provided lots of recommendations Food-wise, the scramble egg with ham I ordered was hot and fresh, the bread was a bit tough (but I guess it’s German style), the salad is not the most ideal but nothing to complaint about!
James L — Google review
We had a really great breakfast at Cafe Schmitz! The staff was very friendly and the place is very quiet and peaceful. Perfect to go for late breakfast with friends on a weekend. There was a bit of a wait, but in the end the food was very nice, so completely worth the time we waited. It wasn't expensive at all taking into account that the amount of food per plate is quite big.

Mashery - Hummus Kitchen is a chic, pastel-hued venue offering a wide selection of hummus, falafel, shakshuka, and meze. The restaurant was born from the Street Food Festival and has quickly become known for its creamy and flavorful hummus with various toppings.
If you love Hummus and the Middle Eastern cuisine, you‘ve found heaven. Any dish is delicious, the service is friendly and helpful, the quality of the food is second to none. What else can you wish for. A must-go-spot when in Cologne - and I don’t get paid for writing this!
Stefan K — Google review
Good restaurant in general and food is really tasty. However for a customer support i would recommend to be more interactive. Falafel and pita were the best. Also the hummus seemed very fresh and tasty.
Parshva M — Google review
I ordered the Shakshuka hummus with falafel and pita and it was DEVINE!! Absolutely the best hummus I have ever tasted. The only bad part is that I live nearly 5,000 miles from here and may never be able to eat it again 😫.
Shawn V — Google review
Last night, I had the Hummus of the week: hummus pesto rosso potato (comes with 1 pita bread) and a malabi pomegranate. Both were delicious. I will definitely go back! It’s also better if you book a reservation in advance so you will not have to queue for a table.
Charriz B — Google review
Sooooo tasty! I ordered the hummus of the week with some extra halloumi-cubes alongside a salad and one of their lemonades - everything I've tasted there was just so new, interesting but very delicious!! I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu ^_^ the staff is friendly too (:
Kickie — Google review
The food is absolutely amazing, the hummus itself as smooth as a humanly possible. The falafel crunchy, yet nice and soft inside. What’s more, the music on my visit was totally spot on.
Tomas F — Google review
The best hummus place in Köln. Having eaten hummus for years in Wadi Nisnas (Haifa, Israel) I must say this place is the one which resembles the flavor the best. Their falafel and sabich are also very tasty. You can even find Goldstar beer there (גולדסטאר) if that's what you are into. Keep an eye into their social networks (Instagram or Facebook) to find out their special hummus of the week which most often than not it's amazing. Overall you can notice all the attention to detail and love they put into Mashery to make it a great place. Say yes to Hummus! Extras: - During the week you can (and should) take advantage of their lunch deal. - The service is good and the staff very kind and friendly. - Super nice decoration. - You can also find them on Vytal and pre-order and pay for your food through the app which makes it super convenient. - The pitas are very tasty and very well worth the 1 euro price.
José F — Google review
Stunning food to eat and photograph! The combination of hummus and pita is just *chefs kiss*. They offer a great selection of dishes as well as sides, and able to cater for vegetarians. The place is not so big but it does have a few tables outside. The interiors are decorated colourfully, matching with the well-plated food. I will definitely be visiting Mashery again.

Very tasty crispy duck with veggies, you can choose it with noodles or rice. Sakejito (mojito based on sake) and ginseng tea quite strong and very good as well. It’s possible to pay with card. Very tidy, kinda modern/minimalistic, good place for a date. At 17-18:00 on Sunday it was relatively quiet and food/drinks came quickly.

Wow, what a pretty place! The interiors are absolutely charming, adding to the overall warm and cozy vibe. It was raining outside during my visit, which made the experience even more special. The menu offers plenty of options, and the food tastes really good. The drinks are also worth mentioning—very enjoyable. Overall, this is a spot I’d definitely recommend. It's a great place to relax and enjoy a meal, especially on a rainy day.

One of the cutest restaurants I’ve ever been to. The food was incredibly tasty and the atmosphere was great, all the decorations are honestly so pretty, I can’t get enough. We sat right by the window on a sunny evening, directly in cologne. The restaurant had a beautiful lighting and setting, which made it super relaxed. The staff was really attentive and friendly, always making sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone, perfect for an evening after strolling around in the city itself.

TASTY AND FULL OF OPTIONS. WELL PRESENTED. FAST SERVICE. We really enjoy to dinner here time to time. Specially our daughter that loves Viet food. The dishes are always super nice presented (I do really care about this) and also they are super tasty. The service is usually fast and if the day is nice you can enjoy to eat outside in the front of the shop that there is a Terrance well prepared and if you can sit a place in the back you don’t feel you are eating in the street 😆) we always prefer inside or in an inner Garten instead of the streets. But this is nice. I strongly recommend the salmon burger. (Is not a burger. Is more a sandwich) but I love it! The peace of salmon is generous and the bread is home made I guess. I do really enjoy it. Also came with some sweet potatoes. Yummy!🤭

If you want to taste good Asian (Vietnamese) food, you should visit this place. The food that I ordered was tasty and not very spicy. It is better to clarify before you order whether you wish your order to be spicy or not. The atmosphere was good. The day that I visited they had so many customers that’s why the orders were a bit late. Be informed that they do not accept the card payment, so you need to have the cash when visiting this place.

Nestled in the heart of Köln, Maki Maki Sushi Green is a delightful vegan restaurant that has redefined sushi for those who care about our oceans. After 15 years in traditional sushi making, the owner made a conscious shift to create an entirely plant-based menu. Here, you can indulge in an impressive array of vegan sushi rolls featuring ingredients like baked tofu, seitan, avocado, and vibrant vegetables such as cucumbers and Japanese yellow radish.
Lovely and delicious sushi place. Sushi options are creative and elaborated. The Kimchi is delicious! The plates are well served and the place is cosy and welcoming. Super recommended

My partner and I had a wonderful time eating here. We got a table for 2 without a reservation, but I would reserve next time to be safe. Our waitress was friendly, the food didn't take very long despite reviews suggesting it might (though it would be worth a wait!) and the atmosphere was relaxing. The food was fantastic! I've never had sushi this fancy, vegan or otherwise. All the flavours were delicious, I strongly recommend the mixed platters for more variety because they were all tasty and unique. We'll definitely visit again 💚
Hassan — Google review
The wait was dreadfull. Watching food getting out to customers who came 30min after us, not being offered another appetizer or drink... I would wish for more communication and attention. After all that wait food was underwhelming. A big NO GO for me.

Fantastic service - eventhough we hadn't booked, we were well accommodated. Kid friendly with baby chair offered and they even gave my child a bowl of rice and soy sauce which he loved. Lovely staff. Delicious and creative sushi - All freshly made behind a small kitchen. Would recommend the mixed platter. Each sushi was bursting with flavour and textures. Presentationally everything was beautiful too.

This charming café offers an array of delightful options, from scrumptious breakfasts to mouthwatering burgers and light meals. The unique self-tick ordering system adds a fun twist reminiscent of dim sum dining, allowing patrons to easily customize their experience. With its high ceilings and bright ambiance, the café exudes a relaxed atmosphere that makes it ideal for families or groups.
One of my favourite Café/Restaurant. Good atmosphere, comfortable and clean. You can sit in the up or down floor. The down floor is better for families with kids and the up floor is better for Families or groups. The place is not so far away from the city centre. You can go by the train (it takes about 10 Minutes). And then walk about 3-5 Minutes to the restaurant. The food is really delicious! They have a large selection of options (Food, drinks). Good breakfast meals and lunch as well. A lot of delicious hot/cold drinks and a big selection of cakes as well. They have a big selection of vegetarian and vegan stuff also.. The service is also good. The workers there are kind and friendly. They check the places often to see if the people need something. Furthermore, you can also work on the Laptop ot study there as well! Alone or with friends. I definitely suggest the place.. Best wishes to WO IST TOM! ☘

I've visited Cologne several times over the past year, and every café and restaurant I’ve tried has been a pleasant surprise — until now. Wo ist Tom? is the unfortunate exception. The service was shockingly poor, and the staff showed a clear lack of interest in their customers. We waited nearly twenty minutes before someone finally approached us — only to toss a menu onto the table without so much as a glance or a word. When we went up to the counter to speak with someone directly, we were met with visible disdain and contempt. If you're looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a coffee in Cologne, the city has plenty of great options. Just make sure you skip this one.

Cozy and warm atmosphere. Went thee on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty packed. Don't expect a quick service especially if you want to dine in! So it's a nice place to go for a sloooow sunday. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and there's an atmosphere that's both relaxing and stimulating. It's a great place to go for a special meal or just to enjoy some delicious Persian cuisine.
This place has to be the best restaurant in town! After a long time, we finally got to try Persian-style kabab, and it was absolutely perfect. The vibe was great, and the staff was super friendly—just an all-around amazing experience!
Shaho T — Google review
As an Iranian visiting with my Turkish girlfriend, we were pleasantly surprised by the food here. The quality and flavour exceeded our expectations. I can be picky about vegan versions of traditional Iranian dishes, but the vegan kebab koobideh was juicy, smoky, and visually spot-on. The Mirza Ghasemi, made with tofu instead of egg, tasted just like the original. The staff were warm and welcoming, offering fresh herbs, vegan white cheese, and lavash while we waited. It truly felt like being at a traditional Iranian table. A fantastic experience — thank you to my Iranian friends for keeping the culture alive!
Pooria H — Google review
Hands down THE most delicious vegan Persian food I’ve ever had. If you are looking for Persian food that is vegan and you are in cologne you have to go here. The koobideh and mirza was amazing! We ordered the Vorspeise platter, vegan koobideh and my friends ordered normal kabab soltani (in case you have people who are not vegan).
NJ — Google review
Who knew Persian food could slap this hard? A friend dragged me here (bless them), and I honestly thought we were going to a carpet shop. Surprise! It was a flavor explosion instead. First time trying Persian food and I’m now questioning my entire culinary upbringing. Every bite was a warm, spiced hug—tender meats, fluffy rice, and portions big enough to make your jeans nervous. I came, I ate, I unbuttoned my pants. 10/10, would go back and accidentally over-order again.
Pei H — Google review
I ordered kubedi it was good but bit salty. Over all experience is good. Better to sit outside as inside the smell of cooking is so strong .

Three of us had each of the three vegan rice dishes and all three were delicious. Service was a little slow if you’re in back. Appetizer with eggplant and pita was amazing!

It’s ok… i’ve tried the non vegan one from another place and this one is kinda toned down IMO.

Good place to enjoy some warm, flavourful meals. Felt very authentic and best part was the number of vegan options. The rice dish 'Adas Polo' I ordered was very well spiced and the proportion was very good, quite filling. Coming to the price tag, it isn't very expensive nor very cheap but very well priced for its quality and quantity. Would definitely recommending going there to try their food. PS: If you can handle a bit of heat I would suggest you ask them to spicy it up as it was tad bit on the side that favors the palate of non-spicy handlers.

Sattgrün Köln Kolumba Viertel is a delightful haven for vegan enthusiasts in the heart of Cologne. This vibrant eatery boasts an impressive buffet that leaves little to be desired, featuring a colorful array of fresh salads, enticing antipasti, comforting soups, and exotic vegetable curries. You can also indulge in hearty pasta dishes and savory vegetable stews, all crafted with care to ensure they are 100% vegan and free from cholesterol and lactose.
Despite the pouring rain on our first day in Cologne and the crowdedness in the city due to Pride, we had such good lunch here! I love the buffet style and that everything is vegan 😍. You pick a plate size (small, medium or large), put and whatever food you like on your place and pay at the register. I especially recommend: - roasted cauliflower - roasted pepper - corn - salted baked potatoes(!) If we stayed longer than a few days in Cologne, we would’ve definitely come back here 🌱

Amazing all vegan buffet. You pay the price of the plate and then pick your own food. I suggest not loading too much on the cold buffet which mainly consists of raw veggies. Hot buffet has loads of different options with roasted potatoes, fried vegetables, curry, stroganoff mushrooms, beans, pasta, rice etc. You cannot taste everything but it all looks great!

Great experience with delicious food, large selection of dishes and friendly service. We sat outside at one of the many tables. It looked cozy inside but was a bit stuffy with closed windows. Expect to wait a bit in line, as everyone plates their own food at their own pace. The first part is the salad bar, the second part contains the warm dishes. Tried everything and especially liked the tofu and grilled Greek soy chunks. The jackfruit was a bit dry for my taste. Highly recommend and will come again 👍

Hanoi September, formerly known as Joie Viet, has made a fresh start on Aachener Straße, bringing the vibrant flavors of Vietnamese street food to life in a chic setting. This delightful eatery offers an enticing menu that includes lunch specials and an array of dinner options featuring classic dishes like Pho—slow-cooked for 36 hours to ensure rich flavor. Guests can indulge in a variety of meat, fish, and vegetarian selections that go beyond traditional fare.
We went on Christmas Day. The food was good but the service was a little slow. The restaurant was not very busy but it took a while to get the attention of someone to get another drink.

We came here as a big group. The waiter was very friendly and attentive, he brought us extra rice and chili sauce, which we really appreciated. The food itself was a bit too plane tho, it felt too westernised and the menu was quite boring. I would not recommend it, if you're looking for an authentic experience. I think it is perfect tho for a bigger group, as the dishes are average and there are options for any kind of diet. The prices were also quite high in relation to the prices.

I loved their Fried Rice and their Duck Curry! I'd recommend 10/10 and it's even better if you visit during lunch time. Only 10€ for the fried rice and it's the best you can find in the city. One of the top Vietnamese restaurants in the inner city.

My impressions of this place have been mixed over the years and currently are quite good. It is possible to select interesting plates that are well beyond the usual Viet dishes. The menu is a bit too big for my taste for I feel it's difficult to serve many different things in a high quality. However, last time we were really happy with our choices and what we got. Really good sushi place in downtown Cologne. We went for lunch and each got a bento box. The food was really good and was almost too much to eat. They have a lunch menu with good prices. The food were tasty and the staff or the owner is very energetic and funny. Like the vibe of the restaurant. My favorite dish was the mango rolls. Light and fresh. The fried pork chop was not as thick as I expected. Usually Japanese pork chops are thicker and juicier. Besides, it’s a bit weird for me that the rice with the pork chops was sour. Overall, it’s a nice restaurant that is worth to go.

Vietnamese restaurant
Ngon-Ngon is a comfortable restaurant in the Agnes district that offers a wide range of Vietnamese cuisine. The menu features traditional dishes such as sot lac with homemade peanut sauce and various options cooked with coconut milk, vegetables, and a choice of meat. The restaurant is known for its generous portions and fair pricing, offering both indoor and outdoor seating. It's particularly popular for its vegan options, including vegan prawns that are highly recommended.
No complains. Tasty soulful food, fast seevice and chic atmosphere. We liked everything!
Nikhil S — Google review
The restaurant is popular with the locals and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The food was nicely presented but the flavours were ok. We had the duck curry and the beef noodle salad for the main course and mango sticky rice for dessert. The duck curry was good, but the beef noodle salad had too much sauce at the bottom, making it too salty for me. It would have been better if the sauce was separate, so I can decide how much I wanted to add. As for the mango sticky rice, if you ever had it in Asia, you'll be disappointed with this one!

THE BEST pho I’ve had in Germany so far, seriously 🍲 It was very hot and the staff was nice enough to bring fans closer to our table so we could enjoy the delicious soup without melting 🥵 Very generous portions and fair pricing 👍🏼 Indoor and outdoor seating available 🪑 Very friendly service, and quick prep 🏃‍♀️ Don’t miss out on their cold home made teas! The ones we tried were all very refreshing and delicious 🍹 Payment available with cash or card 💶 💳

I’m always looking out for the new vegan options popping up everywhere. So found this recently. We sat outside. It was a warm summer day. It’s a hip, urban area in a side street. My friend (omni) and I loved the food. She tried my vegan scampi to let me know if it tastes close to the original because I never had the original. She said it’s weird how authentic it is. Their fake meats are insanely real. In looks and taste. My friend and I immediately thought we have to turn this restaurant date into a regular monthly meeting. Absolutely recommended. Go there! Try the vegan options to see what is possible without hurting animals. Amazing.

We were about to seat when they asked how we wanted to pay, I said card and they said only banks from Germany. I tried with Sparkass and Trade Republic cards (both located in Germany) and it didn't work so we had to leave. So much trouble for seating for dinner, no wonder why it was completely empty. Never seen a place complaining so much and being so picky about the payment method.

Very friendly staff. Wide range of different Vietnamese dishes, served in typical pots. Food tastes great. We had the mixed starters for two, red curry and two salads with beef and noodles and mango sticky rice. All dishes were on point. Prices are very reasonable. Would definitely recommend to have a bite here. They also have local lemonades, typical Vietnamese coffee.
Ma D — Google review
Had two starters (fried spring rolls and chicken sticks), two main dishes (63 and 65), one cocktail (four seasons) and one homemade drink (with fresh passion fruit). Personally I really like the fried spring rolls and the homemade drink. The chicken sticks were okay. The meat was a little too dry for me. The two main dishes we both didn’t like them so much. They were okay but the flavor was quite light. If you expected to have a dish which has very strong and rich flavors, then it would be better to choose something with sauce instead of this kind of pan-fried or wok dishes. Btw, the 65 with duck was quite oily.
Wei-Ting L — Google review
Food was very nice, well presented and served quickly. Only negative part is they are not very tourist friendly. Will only accept German credit cards, foreign cards don't work with their machine and also not much help for non German speakers. But would still recommend the restaurant.

Villa Kalka is a charming spot that offers fair-trade coffee, delectable handmade cakes, and a diverse international menu. The team, comprised of skilled baristas, chefs, and pastry chefs, prioritizes sustainability and conscious nutrition. Visitors can enjoy the best coffee in Kalk along with freshly made sweets. The cozy atmosphere makes it an ideal place for a delightful dinner experience. While some patrons have experienced longer wait times during peak hours, many praise the delicious food offerings and friendly staff.
A small and cute cafe with good food and good service. With a small sandbox area and outdoor seating arrangements, the cafe can accomodate quite some people. Definitely try the basque cheesecake. I also had the sushi roll which was also tasty. They have a lot of vegan options. There was a small concert but could not stay. The staff were all friendly. If we are in the area, we will be back to try the other items on the menu.

It's a nice cozy atmosphere. It was tasty, definitely recommending their deserts. The only thing that really let me down was that we needed to wait over an hour to get our food.... I understand that it was full, but find it way too much for scrambled eggs.

Update 2025: Unfortunately the chef took the excellent Tempura Bento *off the menu*. The only sushi related choice left is fried sushi ... We enquired why on earth they would cancel the best dish - it was was too successful. They were struggling with high demand ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Excellent sushi, outstanding cake selection. My personal recommendation: if you like cheese cake, go for the basque cheesecake, it may look burnt but that's exactly how it's supposed to be and it's super creamy with caramel notes.

Café de Paris Cologne offers a charming, vintage environment and serves classic French and international dishes. The menu includes options like burgers, steak, oysters, and fish soup with a modern French touch. The ambience is wonderful with lovingly designed interiors and excellent breakfast variations. Guests can enjoy pleasant outdoor seating with great music. While the atmosphere is generally pleasant, there have been occasional interruptions from beggars when dining outdoors.
One to try for sure. We ‘discovered’ cafe de Paris searching around for breakfast options. Ended up eating there twice over our 4 day stay. Also, diverted there on the way back one evening for that last drink. Morning and evening were both characterised by excellent service, great choice, very friendly and lovely atmosphere.

Dropped in here for Saturday lunch. Restarant was very busy, but managed to get a table outside. Good menu, a little on the pricey side but the food was excellent. The service however was very slow. Took 20mins for the drinks order to come, was only 2 beers, and on asking for the bill, took a further 25mins. They looked understaffed, so was maybe just bad luck for our visit. Service aside, this place serves great food and is nicely situated.

I came there for breakfast. Everything was very tasty, the establishment is very beautiful and cozy. Breakfast is for every taste, both for those who adhere to a healthy lifestyle and for those who want to relax. But the waitress left not the most pleasant impression, a long wait for the dish, plus faster service for those who came after me. The criteria for giving priority remained a secret.
Viktoria G — Google review
Excellent food and exceptional service. The atmosphere is pleasant with great outdoor seating and music that sets a good mood. Cocktails were a good size and the alcohol was a good portion. Food is well presented and delicious! Giving it a 4 star overall and a 4 star atmosphere because on more than on occasion we had beggers come to our table. It's a risk you take when you sit outdoors and I understand that it can happen, however it interrupted conversations and the flow of the dinner. Other than that, I would absolutely recommend and plan on coming back. Also, the desserts were delicious.
Chav — Google review
An absolutely horrible dining experience. Took so long to be seated even after the server seated two people who walked into the store after we did and completely ignored the sign that said “wait here to be seated.” He said he “simply forgot” before we got seated. We had to wait a long time for someone to take our orders but the rude lady immediately pointed out that I could not have my reusable water bottle on the table and that I had to put it on the chair next to me so it was not visible (?). I have never had such an experience from all the restaurants I’ve dined in. We had to wait an insane amount of time to get our food (that was very simple to make). Over 45 minutes. When the food came, it was very average and simple. The egg was far too runny for sunny side up and felt underdone. The price was extremely overpriced. Paying 30 euro for a coke and two breakfasts (pictured below). All of which could be made with a fraction of the selling price. What put insult to the injury was when we asked to pay and the waitress said yes and then proceeded to go outside, play smiling faces with a baby in a stroller and go to rearrange cutlery. We waited another 10-15 minutes before getting up and going to her to pay there and she said “so you want to pay?!?!” She begrudgingly put the amount into the machine so we could pay and leave. Not coming back, the value for money, disregard for the customer and terrible service is appalling. But of course, I, the paying customer, is being unprofessional by having my water bottle on the table. They can feel free to be as irresponsible and rude as they please.

Awful service staff! i went here for a coffee stop with my tourist friend and they did not let us charge our phone because apparently the electricity costs extra. Btw I checked how much it costs to charge the phone to 100% and chatGPT said it’s 0.034 cents. So not even 1 cent 😃 How do you expect to make a good impression on tourists by behaving so stingy in a high-end chain. Embarrassing!!
Simran R — Google review
It is over prized and the force you to leave a tip without even suggesting it. I paid 80 euros for a hamburger and a dish of spaghetti carbonara. The worst was the super slow and bad service, and at the end the not even asked for the tip, they put it directly in the receipt without letting me know. Totally not recommendable.

Ordered the hot bowl and poke bowl as takeout. Ingredients were very good. But one big big complaint. The sauces were already mixed in and too little. My hot bowl was supposed to be red curry but it seemed it was no curry!!! 😵‍💫 And again, like it seems to be in most places these days, everything on the sweet side. Why are we adding sugar everywhere Guys?? Next time i order I’ll ask for the sauces to be on the side.

Krua Thai am Heumarkt is a vibrant gem that stands out not just for its eye-catching bright green decor but also for its fantastic value. This bustling eatery offers an array of delicious dishes, including flavorful curries, spicy salads, and various rice and noodle options available with or without meat. The generous portions come at wallet-friendly prices, making it a go-to spot in Cologne. On hot summer days, the lively atmosphere buzzes with chatter as patrons enjoy authentic Thai flavors.
The food is delicious and better than in many other Asian places we tried, although very salty. Price is okay, portion is big. Tasty limonades. A central location, directly at Tram station Heumarkt. "-" for a not so comfortable environment, looks not finally constructed, not cosy. And plastic cups for the drinks are not sustainable!

Authentic Thai Flavors Just Like Home If you're craving real Thai food that tastes just like it does in Thailand, this Thai restaurant won't disappoint. The chef is Thai, and the flavors are spot on — rich, balanced, and unmistakably authentic. Thai customers will feel right at home with the taste. The portions are generous, but don’t worry — takeaway boxes are available if you can’t finish everything. It’s also perfect for sharing, as dishes can be ordered as sides to enjoy together, Thai family-style. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with tasteful Thai decor, clean and well-maintained restrooms, and soft/popular Thai music playing in the background. The restaurant is located right by the main road, easily accessible by public transport. It’s a popular spot with a steady stream of customers, but it’s not overcrowded. The overall vibe is cozy and relaxing. I brought my Thai parents here, and they absolutely loved it. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a true taste of Thailand abroad — with reasonable prices and a setting that feels like home.

Decided to try this one out based on reviews and I am glad I did. The lady at the counter was very friendly (we seamlessly spoke in English), they prepared our order in a pinch and the food was tasty. I particularly liked the sauce trays that you can get from the counter, including soy sauce, chilli sauce, fish sauce with chillies and chilli powder. Once you have placed your order at the counter, the restaurant is self-service. But the prices are so affordable and the atmosphere so nice that you won't mind :)

All dishes are too sweet and I didn’t like the taste at all. I don’t recommend this restaurant, it’s was not my favorite restaurant, but maybe you would enjoy it. If you're on the hunt for authentic South Indian cuisine, look no further than Saravanaa Bhavan, a beloved international chain renowned for its vegetarian offerings. With locations around the globe, this restaurant has become a go-to spot for those craving delicious dosas and other traditional dishes. When it opened in Cologne in 2022, food enthusiasts flocked to experience its culinary delights. Located in Germany's NRW state, Saravanaa Bhavan is perfect for anyone missing the flavors of South India.
Everything was great. It is a must try especially if you are a vegeterian. Lots of different options to choose from. My favorite is definitely the drink, Mango lassi. As food, the ones in the pictures were great!

I stopped by as i was craving some nice decent food. There were a lot of Indians eating which i thought could be a good sign. Garlic naan was excellent. Rice was so so, no taste a Palak Paneer - well …way too salty and something didnt match the taste … Plus the service and staff never smile and one feels there like a burden. Sorry, next time I try something else.

I recently visited Saravana Bhavan restaurant in Cologne, and I must say it was a delightful experience! As a pure vegetarian, I was thrilled to find a restaurant that caters specifically to my dietary preferences. Saravana Bhavan truly is a heaven for vegetarians, with a wide range of delicious options to choose from. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, with a cozy atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The service was prompt and friendly, with our server attentive to our needs throughout the meal. But the real highlight was the food! I ordered the Chola Bhatura, and it was absolutely mouth-watering. The bhatura was crispy and fluffy, while the chola (chickpea curry) was rich and flavorful. The combination was perfect, and I enjoyed every bite of it. As a vegetarian, it's not always easy to find restaurants that cater to my dietary needs, but Saravana Bhavan exceeded my expectations. The prices were reasonable, and the quality of the food was exceptional. Overall, I would highly recommend Saravana Bhavan to anyone looking for delicious and authentic vegetarian cuisine in Cologne. Whether you're a vegetarian or just looking to try something new, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

It’s a renowned food chain coming from India, the restaurant here in Köln is decent. The food is good in both taste and portion. Mini idlis are something nice to try, however, Lassi and Paneer 65 are not up to the mark at all. Dosa’s and Uttapam’s are good with nice variety of chutney’s. The outdoor seating during summertime is nice add on.

Nice: -chutneys are tasty, -sambhar is nice and -vada was excellent- crispy, not oily, though could have used some salt. -Service was fast - filter coffee was excellent- right milk, right coffee and right sugar Not nice: -it was 11: 00 am, the start time for the restaurant and the washrooms had not been cleaned. - rava onion masala dosa was bad- it was served burnt- charcoal black. It was very oily and I could taste the bad oil, it was clear that overheating was done but they still served it anyway. The dosa dough had lots of cashews and onion and dhaniya- which is a shame that it went waste because of being burnt and the bad oil used. The aloo masala was almost pasty and bad tasting. Wish they had not ruined the dosa and I could have given a higher rating. Also, I don’t know if they have option for 300 ml Coca Cola, coz I didn’t look at menu and ordered and got a 500 mL one which was too big for me.

Don’t come here for an authentic S.Indian experience (and i know what i mean- i lived 12 years in Chennai, then Dubai and was a frequent visitor). We ordered plain dosa and the guy gave us a paper dosa roast saying it is plain dosa. And on top of it the waiters were quite ‘non understanding’. The elderly cook from the kitchen had to come to understand things better (hats off to him and his personality). Besides the food, the toilets and wash area downstairs was ridiculous stating poor housekeeping and administration! Torn tissues on the floor and basin. The closet room didn’t even have tissues!! And the lock was really loose!(see pics!) Persobally i travelled with visiting family who came from India and i claimed this to be authentic. I ended up being disgraced and had to applogize to them for brining them here.
Roshan T — Google review
Unfortunately it feels like a scam restaurant. A lot of rice and very little of everything else. Service stuff is not friendly either. I guess they make enough money from all the Indian tourists that are passing through Cologne and they don't care about if their customers return. I have eaten at many Saravana Bhavans around the around the world and this was the worst by far.

Ordered the Tantan Men (with the marinated egg) and matcha. One of the best ramen experiences I've ever had. Very very savory broth with absolutely the right amount of salt, the taste of which was intensified more with the chili oil. The amount and texture of the chicken was very very good overall. Also every ingredient was extremely fresh even though I visited on a Sunday evening. The marinated egg was absolutely amazing as well. The restaurant overall was warm, cozy and very well lit. Recommended.

Nice for lunch with decent price! The service was quick and friendly. The soup was a bit vicious and thick rather than creamy. But maybe this is the traditional Japanese way. I will definitely try next time the normal non-creamy soup base! :)

Absolutely fantastic food, period. A must try if you're a ramen fan or just want to have a hot broth to sooth your soul as you slurp down the delicious noodles and meat/veggies. To elevate the experience, bring your friends along to share the amazing food and add in the sesame oil and the chili oil for that burst of extra flavors. You're definitely not going to regret going here to enjoy the food. PS: Make a booking for the table or you'll have to wait for a while to get in due to the crowd. This gives you an idea of how amazing it is.

PURE, AMAZING, VEGAN FOOD!!!!! Unbelievably healthy and fresh but most importantly actually great tasting. They had some unique dishes, you couldn’t go wrong with anything here. The special drinks were unbelievable as well. Very nice staff, super clean and modern environment what more could you ask for. This was one of the top vegan places I’ve been to.

Amazing food, calm place, and very quick service. The business lunch options are cheap and nice. The Pho Tron was rich and flavourful with nice protein and mushrooms. The lemon sea was refreshing and not too sweet.

Fast, tasty and fresh! Not a single lie. We've been here so many times, we've tried everything on the menu. I would love to see more gender neutral toilets :)

This is the perfect cute little place for a vegan snack or a full blown meal! It was so good 👍 I had the BaoBao and loved it, the strawberry ice tea was divine ❤️ definitely will come back for the sushi because it looks amazing!

Just had - for the 3rd time in a few months - an amazing dinner at this vegan Vietnamese spot in Cologne 🌿🥢 Seriously one of the best food experiences I’ve ever had ! Everything was super fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The summertime rolls were delicious, and the crispy tofu was next-level. The Pho Tron was really tasteful ;) And the hot banana was sooo yummy, and the Café Cot Dua, is da bomb!! The staff were really friendly too, and the atmosphere felt cozy and relaxed. Highly recommend it — even if you’re not so into vegan food, you’ll love it! 🌱✨

Had the Hanoi soup and the avocado and pear tempura, both outstanding!! I accidentally stumbled across this little place by the church of the twelve apostles when I was starving and it filled the hole very nicely. The food was absolutely delicious, big portions, very reasonable prices and I was looking at everyone else’s food and it all looked absolutely delectable! Would love to return when I’m next in Cologne!

Hempies - veganes Bistro is a charming vegan cafe and bakery in Koln, Germany. The cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious offerings make it a must-visit spot for both vegans and non-vegans alike. From flaky croissants to flavorful sandwiches, including unique options like vegan mozzarella tomato and pesto, there's something for everyone. The menu also features a great selection of drinks, such as chai and coffee.
Incredible vegan food! We were in Cologne for 3 days. Day 1 we visited for lunch, the croissants were amazing and the lavender cappuccino was delicious. Day 2, we went back again, for more food and coffee. Day 3, on our 4 year vegan anniversary, we had take away and sat next to the river. The 'not egg' was a wonderfully emotional treat as I felt I could enjoy the egg flavours without any cruelty. Food is all reasonably priced and the service was brill. Thank you so much for the food and drinks Hempies. If we visit again, we will be back.

Hempies is a Vegan Bakery and Cafe with Australian standard coffees (delicious, meticulous, and with creme art) and MIND-BLOWING delicious creme-filled croissants! Friendly, smiling staff. Mixed seating arrangements. A little pricey but worth the random visits whenever I visit Köln (Cologne) for Vegan Activism Events with the organisations: Anonymous for the Voiceless AND/OR Neon Black. Go Vegan and then also get involved with Activism to help wake up other Humans to be vegan amd activist also. Very nice place, very good coffee and sandwiches. (Browny was a bit too sweet for my taste, but I ate it all 😅) The waitress (in the pic) is one of the best I have ever seen. Fast, professional, passionate, paying attention to details and very friendly.

I went there starving on a Sunday and tasted their “flammkuchen” sandwich and their chocolate croissant. Both were amazing. I paid 12€ in total for all of this & a coffee, super good value for money. The place is super cute and the staff was friendly

Beautiful cosy vegan place, lots of plants and good relaxing music. Very friendly staff! Great selection of drinks, sandwiches displayed looked very tasty, also croissants of different flavours. All vegan! I had the mozzarella tomato and pesto sandwich - even though I live in London I haven't ever come across vegan mozzarella in a sandwich before!! It was delicious. Very highly recommend for breakfast/brunch/lunch/snacks/coffee/anything.

Ramen restaurant
Bowl Maker Society is a new food spot in Cologne that introduces the Chinese street food 'Malatang' to the city. This unique dining experience allows customers to create their own customized Asian soup bowls using the DIY concept. The process involves selecting various ingredients from a large refrigerated display and then having them weighed for pricing. The establishment offers a wide range of toppings, including eggs, vegetables, mushrooms, seafood, and meat. Additionally, it incorporates Japanese ramen soup influences into its menu.
Fresh ingredients, absolutely lovely and delicious soup, asked them to make it spicy and they didn’t hold back on the spice. Love the concept- you get to choose what you want in your soup. Spicy is the new green is the soup I choose - and it was heavenly! Friendly service and good recommendation by the team.

I love the personalized hotpot here. My daughter, her vegitarian friend and I chose different flavors of soup and we all love our choices. We will definitely visit again whenever we are in Koln.

Very authentic Chinese Ma La Tang at a very reasonable price. The soup tastes good and the foods here are fresh. It’s my second time eating here and I believe I will be here more often.
Yudong J — Google review
After a long flight, I was craving comfort food, specifically soup noodles. To my delight, I stumbled upon this hidden gem! The soup noodles here are quite similar to what we have back home in Vancouver, but the options are limited. The soup is still delicious, and the ingredients are fresh. Since I had better options at home, I gave it a 4-star rating. However, if you enjoy a DIY-style hot noodle soup, you should definitely try it!
Angel — Google review
Limited choices for ingredients and sauce. Soup tastes not bad but feels artificial made from factory instead of making themself. Overally still ok but not good. Packful environment.
Heng C — Google review
Got recommended by local friends and we are definitely amazed!! The soup base is super delicious! Very creamy chicken soup, goes well with all kinds of vegetables and vermicelli especially. And with different soups you can choose from I’m sure people can find the one that suits their tastes the best (they have multiple vegetarian options too)! We like the vibe in this place too. Staff are super kind and welcoming. Will definitely recommend!!!!

Delicious food with a variety of options for toppings and ingredients, which allows you to have a fully customized bowl. Watch out to the spice level since they can get quite spicy and you might not be able to enjoy your creation as much.

Very nice, quiet, and cozy café. The variety of coffee beans offered is a sight for soar eye. Cakes are good as well.

The guy here was so easy to talk to, let us smell his new mandarin coffee beans also. He made us an iced oat milk flat white- a strong and I do kind of which I had gone for a latte but my boyfriend loves the strength of the flat white. Regardless- this was gorgeous. I also loved the soap dispenser- I had only ever seen these on dragons den.

Great coffee. When you enter this place every bit of it you can see something. They make great coffee and deserts. They make SPECIALTY COFFEE. They placed card games that you can play, books that you can read. Staff know what they do. They know what a coffee enthusiast wants and how they should choose their coffee. Great place for working as well. Tables and lighting is good.

Delicious coffee, hands down one of the best if not THE best in town. The staff is always extremely friendly, always smiling and also telling you what kind of coffee you're getting, so you also learn things! Love the cozy interior too. By far my favorite coffee shop in Cologne.

Such a lovely, atmospheric café — quiet, cozy, and perfect for relaxing. I had a large latte with a cookie, and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a peaceful spot to unwind!

Gallery 4 isn’t just a café. It’s a portal. You walk in for caffeine and somehow leave with a tote bag, a new personality, and a burning desire to launch a zine. The coffee? Violently good. Like, file-a-police-report good. My flat white tasted like it was filtered through angel tears and roasted by a philosophy major with unresolved parental issues ... just how I like it. The vibe is aggressively curated. Every chair screams “I was thrifted for irony,” and the plants look better moisturized than I am. One guy was sipping espresso while sketching sad girls on a Moleskine. Another typed "capitalism is a prison" into a MacBook Pro that costs more than my rent. Iconic !! Baristas? Beautiful. Mysterious. I tried to make small talk and they hit me with a nod so powerful I questioned my social skills for the next 48 hours. I loved it. Also, shoutout to the playlist. I don’t know what genre it was ... probably something like “Nordic techno-folk for emotionally unavailable creatives” ... but it slapped. Final verdict: If you’re in Köln and not at Gallery 4, are you even in Köln? Come for the coffee, stay because you're too embarrassed to leave after mispronouncing “cortado.”
S. H — Google review
Good coffee latte macchiato, but the geisha filter coffee was plain without flavour, not the quality you would expect for ~8 euro
Shiyi L — Google review
If you want to be utterly surprised by how specialty coffee can taste, you should visit this shop. They get their high quality roasted beans directly from Colombia from several farms and roasters there. Nothing is overroasted here as seems to be the norm in much of Germany. My absolute favourite is the Ron Oscuro, where the green beans have first been kept in used rum barrels which impart a superb flavour to the coffee. It's like drinking espresso and eating rum toffee at the same time. Highly recommended if you're looking for not just great coffee but coffee that goes beyond that.

We ate the the angry chicken and the beyond burger and were shocked how similar to meat it tastes. The super funny and nice employee prepared everything fresh and quickly for us and we enjoyed our burgers a lot! Tried the fries as well, blown away. Café Goldjunge Nippes is a charming little spot that perfectly blends high-quality coffee with delightful breakfast and light lunch options. This cozy café also hosts exclusive events, making it an intimate gathering place for locals and visitors alike. Guests rave about the delicious pear and poppy seed Streusel, which has been described as one of the best cakes ever tasted. The seasonal roasted almond latte adds to the experience with its unique flavor profile—slightly crunchy yet not overly sweet.
The pear and poppy seed Streusel blew me away; I ordered it kind of randomly, but it turned out to be one of the best cakes I have ever eaten. I also had the seasonal roasted almond latte (not pictured), which was great too – slightly crunchy and not too sweet. The atmosphere is busy but still casual and relaxed, and the service is sweet and pretty fast even when the place is full. Next time I'm in Nippes, I will come back to try their savory options.

Awful service: it takes just one incompetent employee to ruin it. My wife and I were staying nearby. On a sunny Saturday morning (9 July), we went to the cafe. The very first thing that I said to the seemingly nice lady in the counter was: "Sorry, I don't speak German", and she let us know we could just use English. We ordered two breakfast platters and one coffee with milk. I paid the bill straight away, and then, found two empty sits for us and sat down. The lady who took the order did not say a SINGLE WORD to inform us that there were just 2 empty tables and both were reserved. Had she informed us, we would not have bothered to eat there: the food, after all, turned out to be average, at best. It is only afterward when the persons with the reservation showed up a short while later that the situation got embarrassing for us. The lady requested us to LEAVE our sits, we complied instantaneously. I requested the lady to kindly speed up and give us our food as take-aways, and from her gesture it seemed like she understood. We thought as she could not give us a sitting space and FAILED to clearly inform at the time of ordering that there were no empty tables, she would show some consideration and give us the food qyickly in packets, so that we would not have to stand there longer looking like idiots. However, she was not sensitive enough to understand the situation and the young lad who was cooking looked like he had all day (and from the way he was cracking eggs, it looked like his very first was a summer job ever). As the lady did not bother to inform the cook that she messed up, and there was no table in the cafe for us, and hence, the food would need to be packed; the cook carried on plating our foods. All this made us wait even longer and the gross imcompetence of that lady did not stop at just embarrassing customers: she did not give the milk with the coffee, neither she instructed me where to fetch the milk from; although my order was "coffee with milk" NOT just filter coffee (which costs less than "coffee with milk" by the way). Then, she messed up the eggs while packing those as the cook did not put the food in packets, rather put the food on plates. Now, two simple questions need asking: 1. where in your website does it say that one needs a reservation for a Saturday breakfast in a cafe like yours; and 2. are the emplyees generally this incompetent, or is it that they are selectively incompetent in their conduct toward non-German-speaking, brown individuals? Shameful!!!

The menu features a variety of vegan options, with many items already being vegan or able to be made vegan.
Amazing atmosphere, very friendly staff but the Hawaiian burger had a structural breakdown from excess liquids. Also gotta love the playing card deck that has so many random cards from other card games that its just like my usual Balatro run at this point.

Susanne B — Google review
The staff were extremely friendly, spoke English very well, and had English menus available. Both my girlfriend and I are vegan. Many of the items are already vegan, and most can be made vegan. We ordered a small feast - 2 beers, a savory pastry whose name escapes me, fried spring rolls, fries with cheese and a sweet chili sauce, pumpkin lasagna, chocolate mousse, and a gyro wrap to-go. The pastry and the lasagna were specials, but the rest was from the regular menu. Everything was delicious, and we especially recommend the chili-cheese fries and the chocolate mousse. I believe that the food would be appealing to non-vegan/vegetarians as well. We felt that the portion sizes were generous and the prices were reasonable. We are already talking about returning here for dinner tomorrow night!

The interior is exceptionally comfortable: perfectly proportioned chairs, just the right height to relax, soft cushions, stable tables with an ideal size-to-dish ratio. The textures of the surfaces feel nice to the touch. Lighting is spot on, soft natural light from wide windows, creative handmade bulbs, and a charming little chandelier. It's not a large space, but the layout is smart. Tables are well arranged, never feeling cramped. I especially loved the tempura, fresh vegetables with a crispy, flavorful coating, and a special dipping sauce that balances savory and sweet beautifully. The Udon noodles have an excellent chewy texture. The broth isn't as rich as I expected, but its lightness works really well for warm weather. We tried the miso Udon and the golden tan tan. The latter has a strong ginger note; personally, I’d love a touch more sesame flavor. An unexpected highlight: the red bean bun. I thought it might be like a German Mörbschen, but it turned out to be thicker and more yeasty, with a softer surface, really satisfying. The food presentation is clean and minimal, served on small trays with beautiful bowls. I'd love to know where to buy some of them :) You can tell the owner is creative and passionate. The menu design is adorable, full of clear info and even a detailed explanation of how Udon is made. So generous to share that process with guests. The location is literally a hidden gem, tucked further into a quiet street. It’s peaceful, easy to miss, and absolutely worth finding. Highly recommended!

vegan udon cravings in cologne? this is your place. i had the red tantan udon. not as spicy as i'd like and the soy chunks were a bit dry. the trick is to soak the chunks in the broth for a while for them to soak up the flavour of the broth. the broth itself is quite flavorful, with hints of ginger and creamy soy milk. i also had a hot tea and a mochi for dessert, coming down to less than 25€. i went alone on a sunday around 6pm and it was quite full. there were a few tables already reserved, so highly advisable to make reservations if dining with a larger group. but dining solo should be fine if. you don't mind sitting on the counter by the window.

Paolo R — Google review
They do Udon and Tempura, and they do both excellently! I've always preferred restaurants that have limited menus, because then you know they do those things well. The service is excellent too. They're a small place, and sometimes there's a line when it's busy, but it's worth the wait and the staff is fair and kind. The atmosphere is lovely too, the decoration is tasteful and deliberate. They also have a clear political stance, being vegan, LGBTQ+ friendly and anti-fascist. It's rare to see a restaurant take a stance, and I think that's great. More places should speak up for what's right.

The expectation was big, we were looking for a true vegan cuisine. Pizzas! They came almost one hour after we ordered. They were cold as the Arctic. The dinner lasted less than 10% of the time we waited for the food to come. When a pizza get cold, just eat it fast! We tried but the coldness was predominant enough to restrict our time eating. Just get it down and through.

What an AWESOME 100% Vegan Eatery/pizza Restaurant!!! Friendly staff, delicious Pizzas, great atmosphere, a place that Us Vegan Activists from Anonymous for the Voiceless hung out, on occasion, after our DAILY EVENT in July 2025, that was called One Dom Month. I took the waiter Flo's recommendation for each of the 3 times I visited this amazing establishment, the last was a SPECIAL not even on the menu!! By the second time I was getting hugs on arrival, got to know the Owner who was super friendly, as was the Head Chef (cook), and am more than confident to say I found some new friends here. Diners can indulge in delicacies like goat cream cheese with plums, celery, and walnuts or pork belly with yellow beets, gooseberries, and crackling crumble.
Somewhere between high end and fine dining. They accommodated a vegetarian with the menu which was nice and the whole experience was very nice and comfortable. My only critic would be that the duck was slightly over done. As I don’t eat fick that often, maybe my heights were set quite high. Also, the inclusion of parsnips seemed to be a little over used! All in all an enjoyable experience which was still expensive, but tasty.

⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆ Restaurant maiBeck 📍 Cologne, Germany The food at maiBeck features some interesting preparation techniques, with a blend of European foundations and subtle Asian influences. While the concept is creative, the execution felt somewhat underwhelming. Overall, the experience was average. Dishes were decent but lacked the kind of standout flavors or finesse that would leave a lasting impression. Service and ambiance were fine, but nothing particularly memorable. A respectable effort, but nothing compelling enough to make me want to return.
Irene L — Google review
Enjoyed the winter salad and Icelandic cod. The wine choice by glass could be better. Michelin style service. Good place to dine before a concert at the Philharmonia nearby. Reservation required.

Fantastic food and service. I’m gluten free and only speak English so not easy but they dealt with me perfectly. The food was delicious

Nestled just a stone's throw from the picturesque Volksgarten, Daur Lang is a delightful haven for those seeking a relaxed dining experience infused with Pan-Asian flavors. This charming restaurant specializes in vegetarian and vegan dishes, making it an ideal spot for lunch or takeout, especially during the warm summer months when you can enjoy your meal on their lovely terrace.
Absolutely incredible!!!! The fried oyster mushrooms are to die for!!! They were so delicious, I immediately sent for another order. The spritz cocktails were divine and a perfect pairing to the fried mushrooms and the fried tofu accompanied by crispy, well seasoned vegetables, a reason to fall in love with eating vegetables everyday. Everyone should eat here. The service was impeccable, warm and welcoming. Just drop everything you are doing now and go book a table. You're welcome. 🧙🏾‍♀️

Been here a couple of times. As an indonesian myself, I find the food not 100% authentic but rather fusion. However, I still love the ambient and the food is also tasty! Portion is small tho
Rhea R — Google review
Must visit restaurant with great options for reasonable price. Make sure to book your table in advance though. Service and ambiance is top notch. Food is just phenomenal.
Pranava N — Google review
Friendly service, very good food. We had to wait more than 30 minutes for the food to come but worth the wait. Total flashback to our backpacking tour through java. Authentic and delicious.
Sebastian W — Google review
Great Indonesian/Asian Bistro with a variety of fairly priced, very delicious items. As of now they have a weekly vegetarian based menu (however you can add meat) in which they use fresh vegetables and the diversity and options are extremely nice. The owners and staff are very friendly and accommodate special dietary wishes. It was possible to get 6 items of the menu as a vegan option which was wonderful. The location is easy to find in a beautiful area. Because of the corona situation the venue is too be experienced later. Definitely I will stop by when it's open or order again soon. (The order via Facebook was very easy). The packaging was great as it was recycled paper mostly.

Very tasty food, will definitely try some other dishes soon. At the moment they offer only take away. As they work with ‘vytal’ you can get reusable food containers which you can return to any partner within 14 days, free of charge and by using the app. This was why I got food here and I was not disappointed!
A. S — Google review
Very tasty food, very cool menu concept (every week new menu, 6 dishes, all vegan, all the same price, meat available as an extra) and very friendly service. Extra attention to sustainability: everything is either reusable (Vytal) or made out of paper or wood. I got a takeaway meal for 6 people without any plastic waste. Unfortunately they only take "EC"/girocard, not even maestro or other debit cards :( Would definitely go again!

Le-Do Vietnamese Cuisine Sushi is a delightful culinary gem that brings the vibrant flavors of Vietnam to life. Since its opening in 1992, it has garnered a reputation for serving some of the best pho in Cologne, thanks to its authentic preparation and aromatic broth crafted from hours of simmering with an array of spices. Diners rave about the deliciousness of each dish, with many noting that every bite surpasses the last.
I think this might be the first time I liked EVERY dish in a restaurant. The prices are reasonable, wait time is very little and the taste is mind-blowing! Might be coming back here for my birthday 😋

Absolutely delicious, super friendly, and 100% would come back again, and again, and again! We ordered takeaway.
Chris G — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed our food at Le-Do restaurant. We tried a bunch of different dishes and were super happy about our food. The sauces were very flavorful in all the dishes, the portions were big and the food is very affordable. The sushi was fresh and so was the mango and papaya salad. We will definitely go back!

I had the opportunity to visit the restaurant and try Vietnamese food for the first time, which I had only known by name until now. Each dish was even better than the previous one, and the food was absolutely delicious. On top of that, the service was excellent—the waiters were attentive and welcoming. I can't wait to visit again soon!

Awesome place, great food for a good price. Spent 10€ on a pho, very large and tasty. Owner is super friendly too!

We’ve ordered beef pho but it turns out to be pork & beef pho which the pork is even more then beef. I paid to have beef not pork. Soup is salty. No tap water is served. Waited so long for food.

De Fressbud is a small but excellent restaurant in Cologne, known for its authentic German street food. The menu offers typical dishes like Spiessbraten im Brotchen, slow-roasted pork in a roll, and of course, the famous currywurst. Despite its simple appearance and standing room only, it's a perfect stop for delicious German street food. Visitors praise the friendly staff and quick service as well as the outdoor seating for people-watching.
The food was super delicious and the staff was friendly end helpful:) they even gave me a taste of another dish to try and it was amazing:)

This is a very small, but excellent restaurant. Having lived in Cologne for 3 years, when people would visit, I would always make it a point to take them here. The menu is simple, but has many typical German street foods. My favorite is the Spießbraten im Brötchen. It's slow roasted pork in a roll. Get it with onions. It's fantastic. As well, they also have Wurst, Currywurst, and French Fries. The only things that may steer some away is that it's only standing room. They don't have any sit down tables. Enjoy!

Thai restaurant
During my recent trip to Cologne, I discovered Ratchada Thai Kitchen, a charming bistro that truly captures the essence of authentic Thai cuisine. The warm and inviting atmosphere is complemented by the passion of the owners, who pour their hearts into every dish. The menu may be small, but it features all the classic favorites you’d expect from a genuine Thai restaurant. I was particularly impressed with their Som Tam (papaya salad), which was undoubtedly one of the best I've had in ages.
The place serves authentic Thai food prepared by a Thai couple. Very delicious, very homey, super fresh and very fulfilling. The red pepper hotness rating is spot on, very authentic and not toned down to suit European rating. I took spice level 2, felt the burn and loved it. If you can't tolerate high heat make sure to ask them to tone it down for you.
Nabil S — Google review
We visited Cologne for a few days and stumbled upon this lovely Thai bistro. The food is incredibly authentic, and the Som Tam (papaya salad) was hands down the best we’ve had in a very long time. The bistro is run by a warm and welcoming "aunties" who clearly put their heart into every dish. The menu is small, but it includes everything you’d expect from a proper Thai restaurant. This place deserves much more attention. We truly hope more people discover it through Google reviews

Ami H — Google review
Reasonable price for portion. Well padthai was as expected, not so special but delicious as expected. I wish there could have been more veggies. No card payment.
V N — Google review
We had the worst experience in Germany, ever. The food was okay, we never got to try the main dishes. When we ordered, they said fish might take 30 minutes, which we accepted. After 40 minutes, they didn't even start making our foods until we asked, which would have taken another 20 to 30 minutes had we decided to wait. Meanwhile, they made 4 or 5 orders for delivery services. The servers were also extremely unfriendly and hostile. Don't come here unless you are a masochist looking for abuse.
Hung N — Google review
Great food, friendly atmosphere, wonderful flavor! You won't be disappointed.
Mace S — Google review
I was craving Thai food while on a short 3 night trip to Cologne, and the Pad Gra Pow Moo Sap at this restaurant was fantastic. This place was so good that I returned here 2 nights in a row - that's how delicious it was. Extremely authentic Thai flavors that you can ask to be extra spicy. I will warn that they will not hold back if you ask for extra spice in your meal, so be warned. The only downside is that they only accept cash or you have to order through UberEats. If you can cross that hurdle, you will not regret this extremely authentic Thai food experience tucked away in Cologne. My only regret is that I didn't take a picture of the food to share it.
Phillipe C — Google review

Best Vietnamese in cologne. We love it. Every dish we tried so far was delicious. And we tried a lot. Check out the papaya salad or the Vietnamese fresh roles or the soups and noodles. Super. See you soon again. We miss you!!! - now doing rolls by ourselves...

Good choice for a nice Vietnamese restaurant. The atmosphere's relaxed and nicely decorated, the staff is welcoming and helpful. The food was really good and tasted genuine! Only inconvenience, it's a cash only place.
Corentin — Google review
Delicious food (meat and vegetarian dishes) Very reasonable prices. Quick and friendly service. Warm and cozy atmosphere. European spiciness which you can ask to have more or less of it in your dish of choice. Try the Vietnamese dream cocktail, very distinctive taste.

Wanted something different as it was my last night in Cologne. So popped here, just along from my hostel. I had no.2 which is rice paper roles stuffed with prawn, pork and housing source with a peanut dipping sauce, it was a large portion. I then had no. 26 Fried duck, vegetables lemongrass, peanuts and rice. I am a big guy but I couldn't finish it and I was really quite disappointed as I wanted sticky rice and banana for desert. The food quality and price is excellent. I highly recommend.
