The grounds are nice and well maintained, as well as the lobby area/lobby restaurant. The rest of the hotel is very dated. The pools at the hotel are very cold. The rooms are very dated and not very clean. We had a wet/sticky/brown liquid on our carpet in the bedroom and it took 2 full days and several calls for them to actually send someone to look at it - Even then, it still remained wet for the entire stay so must have been something more than a spill. The elevator for our suites didn’t work for most of our trip which was very inconvenient with two children and upon checking out with numerous heavy suitcases. There were some derelict rooms opposite our room that were completely boarded up. Not really what you want to see when you’re on vacation. The water park was nice but not great for young kids. Slides were only for kids over 48” and the splash pad was average. The breakfast in the lobby was nice but $100 for 2 adults and 2 small kids 4 & 2. Market place breakfast was $50 for bagels and 2 coffees. Overall it looks like it used to be a very nice resort but really needs a renovation. And the customer service could be improved especially when there is a legitimate issue to be dealt with.

Location is convienant and its a pretty place but you have to be in it for just that... a pretty external with intent to sleep here while exploring outside the grounds.

We needed a place to fit a family of five in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area in a certain price range and this place popped up. We booked it in a blur at 3 AM and showed up to an absolute delight hours later. We didn’t realize we essentially booked an entire condo complete with a full size kitchen, washer/dryer, multiple bedrooms, walkout patio, lovely balcony, two levels, and all in the setting of a gorgeous resort. The property is stunning and incredibly well-kept. We aren’t golfers but the golf course was nice enough to make us consider it! We rented a poolside “cabana” of sorts for a perfect pool day that included phenomenal poolside service. We ordered room service and it was delicious and enjoyable to eat at the giant dining table in our room. Every employee we encountered was friendly and helpful and we always felt very welcome across the entire property. The complimentary morning coffee was kind of tucked back closer to the golf course but it gave us an opportunity to explore the grounds a bit more. Immaculately clean, chic decor with a mid-century modern vibe done right. The gardens, pool, golf course, and entire property is so meticulously cared for that you can’t help but be in awe. This still ranks as one of our very favorite hotel stays and to think it was entirely by accident! Mountain Shadows turned a vacation-gone-awry into a luxury experience that made our vacation even more memorable than it otherwise would’ve been.

It's in Paradise Valley sandwiched between Scottsdale and Phoenix making it centrally located. The grounds are beautiful and have a Palm Springs aesthetic. We stayed in a 3rd floor balcony room over looking the pool and had a beautiful view of the mountains. The room itself was spacious, modern and clean. It would have been nice to have an empty fridge vs. a mini bar, but I believe that can be requested. The room did not have a floor length mirror and the balcony only had one chair, which I thought was a miss. They have different exercise classes daily. We did the Pilates Reformer, which was great. The instructor was lovely and it was nice to meet residents of the community. We had breakfast at Hearth and ordered room service for dinner and the good was excellent and service was great. Our experience was as follows- 1 night stay, no parking available on the street cause the on-site restaurant is having a private party until 11pm, none of the local lots allow overnight parking, called the hotel number and asked for assistance and they said to park on the street (taken) or the lot behind (which the on-site restaurant said you'd be towed from ). The hotel reception said they initially weren't aware of the private party and can't do anything to help. Except, they did know about the party as they later confirmed when we asked for help with parking! For $279/night , at 6:30pm, we got stuck trying to find overnight street parking or a lot somewhere and haul our stuff blocks or leave it and worry about the car getting broken into. The hotel could have suggested we secure on street parking before the party started which they could easily have done as they knew about the party. Their only response was how are we supposed to know how many people were going to attend the restaurant party? Excuse me- it's your property - there's only 10 parking spaces on the street in front of the hotel. Any party at this restaurant would impact parking. When I asked for assistance or a credit he wouldn't entertain it. We hauled our stuff blocks as there wasn't any parking available within 4 square blocks. But not the hotel's problem. Be mindful of this when booking here. There is no on-site parking. You'll pay $$$ and if anything happens you're left to fend for yourself. Let's not mention the dog kennel you can hear if you're on the south side of the building. What I realize tonight while driving around is that there are actually a lot of cute boutique hotels in the area who do have on-site parking and on-site staff to assist you. I would have stayed somewhere else. The other negative reviews about the lack of on-site staff and assistance are our experience as well. If they had informed us of the parking situation or dog kennel to the south via their website we would have been aware and could have made a different choice. Again, I wanted to love this place. The guy at the reception number said they respond to all reviews in response to his decision not to provide furthe assistance. This is the first museum we visited on the ASTC Passport Program that we had to pay for a family member to get in. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and luxurious with amazing views of the property. The location is very quiet, but yet very close to shopping and restaurants. We stayed in a Paradise poolside room which was very convenient for access to the pool. The room was spacious, the bed quite comfortable, the pillows, however I wasn't a fan. The menus between the room service, restaurants, and poolside were all quite similar which was disappointing to not have much variety. We ended up ordering delivery a lot while staying there, and some deliveries came right to the room, while others were dropped off the lobby. We ordered room service one morning for breakfast, and for $30 for a traditional breakfast it would have been nice to receive everything (was missing the protein). We didn't call to complain as we would have been long done our breakfast by the time the protein arrived. Service at the pool for the first days was amazing, Rihanna (sp?) was great, the days she wasn't serving the area we were at, we had to go to the bar ourselves to order food and drinks. We did valet parking and I was surprised there was no covered parking. Retrieving our car was easy, however it was very hot when we would get in. We spent the majority of the time at the paradise pool which had 3 waterslides. The pools were nice and warm. There were lots of loungers available most days, Saturday was very busy, but the rest of the time wasn't too bad. They also had a movie night Friday at the pool which was fun. There are many lounge chairs so you can go out to the pool anytime. McArthurs restaurant is quaint with an open indoor/outdoor patio. The pools were heated, not crazy warm but warm enough when the sun is hot. If you have mobility issues, you may try to ask for a room closer to the restaurants and pools. The golf course is very close that you can walk over - less than 5 minutes. The only downside is the check in always seems lined up and takes a few minutes.

The gentleman left to get it in a very lackadaisical manner with no sense of urgency. We waited another 15 minutes for them to actually pull the vehicle up to the front. There’s a convenience store which is severely overpriced (I paid $15 for a tiny travel sized dry shampoo), but again nice to have the option. The rooms themselves are spacious, clean, and luxurious. I never sleep well in hotels and I got my 8 hours every night no problem. The beds were incredibly comfortable. Every morning I went to the fitness center and was again surprised by the size and equipment. Everything looks brand new, is well maintained, and there’s plenty of space including a cardio room, weight room, and a room for fitness classes hosted by the resort. as for activities, there is plenty to do on site, and you’re also close to a lot of major tourist areas. I wasn’t able to try it out but my room faced their on site golf course that was also lovely with great views and maintained well. The water park on site was nice, with a lazy river, multiple water slides, and then several pools including an adults only pool. Start everywhere was extremely attentive and pleasant to interact with. Overall I had an amazing stay at this JW and cannot wait to return!

It plays for about 16 minutes, so watching the spheres illuminate and listening to the music during that time was magical. I told Lou how I enjoyed this museum more than the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego but he was part of the reason why I enjoyed it. You get access to the Phoenician facilities. Overall, it’s pretty good. The pool food the first day was awesome. Ordered the same thing the next, and found an unwelcomed surprise. A piece of long metal wire in the green salsa. I put it in my mouth but thankfully spit it out quickly. The server took it back and didn’t charge, but no management acknowledgment or anything. However, unfortunately we were here during a large conference of over 600 attendees who had a large and very loud outdoor breakfast starting at 7am right outside our window on every single morning we have been staying here. At 8am they call all attendees in with a loud bell from breakfast, so if the noise of 600 people didn't already wake you, the bell will. For a couple who were here for a birthday/anniversary trip on a break from children this was a bit disappointing. Next time you should place all of the conference attendees in the same area of the hotel that overlooks this very loud breakfast and put the rest of us who want to sleep in past 645am on the other side of the hotel.

We arrived early at 10:30 and were able to get into our rooms upon arrival. That is always a plus, the downside was it didn’t appear the room was fully prepared for the new guest as there were half empty water bottles that greeted us on the table and a funky stain on the chaise lounge (pic included). The room was large, but felt a bit dated. A surprise for us was the bidet in the bathroom, not common in American hotels. My wife had a facial at the spa and I played the golf course on site. Both were good, just not 5 star good. Dinner was also on site at the Tavern the first night and that experience was 5 star. During our stay we had breakfast in the room and at Mowry and Cotton and those meals and service were 5 star. Accommodations at the pool were a bit strange to have cushioned lounge chairs at the family pool but not at the adult only pool. Hence, most couples even without children went to the family pool. In regards to the cushions on the lounge chairs, they were filthy and strained. I would never lay on one with out a towel. See pictures attached. The Phoenician needs to invest in new pool seating and side tables as many were damaged. Service at the pool was a 3 at best our first few days, but a 5 on our last day with John providing great service poolside. The Phoenician is a very good option for a stay in the area, just not a 5 star experience.

The hotel is laid out on a large piece of land with plenty of space to wander. Our room was facing the cacti garden and was a quiet location. Even though we were on the fifth floor we could access the garden and walk through it to get to the lobby and other parts of the hotel. We had meetings here and utilized the meeting rooms and east and west lawns for breakfast and lunch. They had plenty of umbrellas to give shade during these meals. The young lady that checked us in was very professional and friendly. Had a problem with odor in first room we were given.The front desk guys were not friendly when I said the room had a bad odor like smoke. When the key was not working and I went back to the other gentleman he was not friendly either. The gentleman who took our bags to room was very nice and professional and all the housekeeping staff.The lady who checked us out was very rude and bad attitude. Was told by concierge at check in we could have late check out of 3pm. Received a call from the rude concierge saying we had to be out at 2pm or she would charge for another day for 3pm check out. It was the Rude aggressive attitude she used that was very unprofessional. Had stayed in Canyon Suites in January 2025 and everyone was very friendly and excellent customer service.In the future I would go back to Canyon Suites where there is stellar service.
