They have a great spot for a private party and drinks had a nice pour! Of the appetizers we tried I most enjoyed the pimento cheese—super creamy and lots of bread to spread it on! For our side I had the gumbo, which from my perspective could have been spicier and had more sausage. It seemed like mostly shredded chicken and the soup. The salad was beautiful with delicious colored carrots and radishes too. Our entrees were steak and the shrimp and grits—both cooked well although the shrimp could have been larger in size. All the food was hot and fresh when served to our large party. The three desserts were all delicious with my favorite being the little tart—which may only be available for larger parties. The beignets were also delicious, even the next morning with coffee!

Dining in elegance. The only downside is that it can get quite loud especially when there is a live band playing. My wife had the Southern Fried Chicken. It was the best fried chicken we had tasted in a long time. The mashed potatoes and the collard greens were very tasty as well. It was fantastic. Tender prime on a roll with delicious au jus. The Chicken Fried Steak was huge and delicious with some of the best home made Mashed Potatos I have had at a restaurant. If that was not enough they surprised me with peach cobler a la mode. The cobbler was good. The ice cream was amazing. We returned for the Friday Fish and Chips. The Fish was Cod and it was very good. Just be aware that it is a Fish and Chips plate. They don't have an all you can eat option. The Chef Salad was ok, the Steak was good and the Hamburger was amazing

I was very pleased with the portions provided. The food was delicious. Theres definitely a difference in mild and medium, but nothing too overbearing. The medium is just right to enjoy the heat and spice and not have it over power the meal. The mustard slaw was a new try for me and it wasn't bad at all. Definitely different than any slaw im used to or have had before but I was surprisingly pleased. My only 2 get betters that made me give 4 stars for the food instead of 5, are: the chicken was fried hard and the slaw could've been a little more creamer. I understand a lot of people like thier chicken fried hard but its not my thing and the slaw needs something to make it a little more wet. However, the hidden gem is the ranch sauce. Now listen I'm not a ranch kinda guy, but it provided the perfect balance to and enhanced the flavor and spiciness of the Byrd! I'll be back to try the sandwich and the tenders as I heard they are some of the best in the city!

We wanted a nice steak. When we got there we were seated quickly however they sat us by the kitchen and I found the staff distracting with how they were acting. Our menus were empty. Matt came around and checked on us so I gave him our appetizer order. The lamb was good but the fondue wouldn't stay lit because where we were sat. After a short while we realized they gave us each other's steak. We switched but as you can imagine- eating a steak after a teenage has cut into it is not the most visually pleasing steak anymore. Overall I was disappointed in the service. Dinner didn't come with ease. We enjoyed each other's company but it was a 2 hour dinner. I tipped 18% but normally I like to tip 25-30% with great service. They frustrated me during dinner but I just had to smile and shake it off. I used to come here a lot. I'm not sure I'll ever care to go back.

Service and quality of food/drinks is way better than what you would expect from a college-based place like this, I was really impressed. Everyone was kind and service was quick, food was delish, even during lunch rush. The nachos were really tasty and fully loaded (we had already eaten a few when I took the pic) and the pulled pork was sweet and tangy, but they have sriracha, tabasco and cholula if you wanted to add spice. Will be back to this spot if in the area!

His burger was eay undercooked as well. My wings were good but the homemade ranch was not the best & had an odd texture. I ordered several gluten free things to try. Keep in mind there is losts of cross contamination so not celiacs friendly as the gf cookies were right next to the regular cookies. The morning glory muffins were moist & delicious. The lemon poppy seed had a spongy texture I couldnt get past. The peanut butter cookie was terrible! I thought it was covered in sugar but it was salt. PB is already salty so not sure why they did that. The macaroons were great. So overall it was hit or miss. Be sure to ask if you need your macaroons gf as they generally are & say they are on the case but they have a cookies & cream one and it is not gluten friendly.
