I got the Market sandwich, as a suggestion from one of the employees. I thought the pairing of prosciutto and fig was amazing but the overall sandwich lacked a wow factor so I am giving it a 4. Don’t get me wrong, it was good but just not amazing. I definitely plan on coming back to this place to try out their other items because the staff was so amazing. If you’re in the area it’s worth checking out!

I never really get to come here due to the hours not aligning with my job, but I always hear great things! The first time, I tried a pumpkin spice iced coffee and a donut muffin, both of which were great.
The second time, I decide to order my usual drink, matcha. I knew as soon as they called my name, I knew that the matcha would not be good. The color was not nearly vibrant enough, and all I can taste is oatmilk. I’m disappointed at the quality of the drink considering the cost, but I also understand that coffee forward places do not usually excel at other drinks (esp matcha). I would warn matcha connoisseurs to avoid fig’s matcha and either order something else, or order somewhere else. I’ll likely still return, but definitely not for anything other than muffins and/or coffee sadly.

This is just a cute little place. I love prosciutto/goat cheese/arugula/fig jam combinations, so the Market sandwich is the way to go for sweet-savory or focaccia lovers. (Also in my opinion their focaccia is far superior of a breading than any other.) Lattes are not bad - fairly sweet though I appreciate the maple brown sugar & soy options! The only thing is it’s tricky to get seats the later you come since space is so limited inside, so plan accordingly :)

Absolutely deserving of the Best Cafe in Somerville title! The line can be daunting but the staff work hard to keep it flowing and delivery high quality food and drinks! I doubt I’ll ever be disappointed on any future visits.
Food: The drinks were very refreshing and a great wake up jolt of caffeine. I was intrigued by the espresso soda and I was not disappointed. It was such a nice blend of fruity flavors that slide perfectly into a familiar coffee taste. The sweet ricotta toast and the egg cheddar sandwich were amazing! The sourdough and ciabatta were the stars and their great bready textures made for perfect vehicles.
Service: The staff worked like a well oiled machine but still offered great hospitality!
Atmosphere: The popularity does cause the cafe to be busy but everyone was very respectful of one another’s space so it wasn’t an overwhelming crowd. The decorations also added to the energetic atmosphere.

One meal here can easily set you back $40 (including the tip) which is ridiculous, but I can’t lie, this place lives up to the hype. I loved every bite of my food. Even though I’m not a fan of pancakes, I devoured them because they were so delicious! The pancakes were nice and golden with the crispy edges on the outside and fluffy softness on the inside. They were flavorful as well! I loved being able to taste the vanilla. I always thought that I didn’t like home fries until today. These were the first home fries I’ve ever loved! No complaints about the eggs either 😍 I loved that they were generous with the cheddar cheese on top. I wouldn’t order the cinnamon toast latte again because it just tastes like milk, coffee, and cinnamon-that’s all. It could’ve used way more flavor and cereal on top or even on the side.

This was my first time in Boston and after a long flight I was starving! They did not disappoint. I ordered the "Northern Attitude Breakfast" which I loved, especially the pancakes. First off, shout out to Vanel, my server! He was friendly, attentive, and just overall a positive vibe to have for brunch! I sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful sun on a semi-chilly day.
Food ordered: mimosa flight, blueberry pancake, breakfast eggrolls, an 'appley every after mimosa, and one other drink but I don't recall. ALL were delicious and I recommend each of them.

Nate was wonderful and super attentive, sharing what is new and popular on the menu. I had a maple bourbon cold brew coffee, breakfast taquitos and a side of bacon. You MUST try their made in house Maple Tumeric sauce, it’s not spicy hot but the right balance of spice and sweetness and perfect to drizzle on eggs and bacon for some kick. Also had the Arnold Pama as I had time to kill and a 2nd beverage never hurts when walking a beautiful city.
The ambiance is like being in a time capsule of the best memories, Goonies poster on the wall, retro sparkly diner booths and chairs, community mental health wall posts to boost your spirits.
The bartender/server was upbeat and took care of each person.
This location has an “A” rating and is clean, easy to access and the front doormen are personalable.

OK but I don't understand why this place is so popular. Came here on a Saturday morning around 8 AM and found it to be already packed. The waitress was very friendly and the food average. We waited quite a bit of time before we got our food. They were very efficient seating everyone and when we left, there were people waiting outside to be seated. I have to rate low on the funky smell in the bar area downstairs; it smelled halfway between cleaning solution and grease. It's like they tried to clean by just throwing on cleaning solution without scrubbing and rinsing with water. The smell definitely impinged on my enjoyment.

We both thoroughly enjoyed the food, staff and location. So many choices on the menu and fresh baked items to take home too. We found it to be exciting to get something different for breakfast. Our waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. I noticed this with the other waitress working there too. So refreshing.
As weird as this sounds, the back of the restaurant smelled so clean. This means, (definitely to me), CLEAN. Like they just cleaned everything.

A fantastic find with a cozy, home-like atmosphere. The food at Zaftig's tasted exactly like a home-cooked meal, and it was absolutely delicious. The matzo ball soup was extra special and hit the spot on a chilly night. I highly recommend the ZAFTIG COMBO, which was a perfect sampler of their best dishes. The cheese blintz was heavenly, the potato pancake and knish were cooked perfectly, and the sweet noodle kugel was a delight. We will absolutely be back to enjoy this delicious comfort food again.

This place was recommended and after receiving a gift card I went with my mother to check this place out.
While pricey, if you’re willing to cough up some cash it is well worth the money for the quality you will get from this food.
We had ordered the Turkish style breakfast which had a soft boiled egg wrapped in an ingredient I do not know the name of but it added crunch and mild sweetness to it. There were cucumbers, olives, tomato that was mashed and sweet yogurt which was topped with seasonal spoon sweets. You can refer to the image but this was one of my favorite things with the blend of refreshing vegetables that were light and paired with sweet creamy substances. It was filling yet not overbearing.
Geno’s egg sandwich was worth the getting my hands messy as the egg was cooked just enough that the yolk broke upon first bite adding extra flavor that brought out the halloumi cheese and tomato concasse.
The granola bowl was another favorite being served in Egyptian carrot jam and labne that made it stand out compared to other granola bowls.
We had purchased the Turkish coffee which we felt was decent but not as good as Andala coffee houses especially when comparing price and value.
The desserts were the date almond ma’amoul and chocolate tahini tart. The tart was smooth, rich and not overly sweet compared to the breakfast Items which was a nice change.
Lastly, the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The music was middle eastern and not so loud that you could not have a conversation.

Wow the flavors here are so fresh and unique!! When we entered, I was skeptical, but the food was so good and like nothing I've tasted - admittedly I don't eat at meze places super often. The chicken wings (date molasses bbq and lemon herb on top) were SO good, the flatbread and shawarma tasted different from any other place bcus of the filling. The shakshuka came with pesto which was jnteresting. Highly recommended.
There's not a lot of seating and it's a free for all so don't come with a group expecting to sit.

Let’s start with the downside… This first part is Food Only: came here on a Sunday 8 am and got the smoked salmon toast ($12.50) and egg, cheese, arugulas and tomato breakfast; as you can see in the picture, I got one slice of bread and few slices of salmon(don’t know if the salmon is the best quality tho I’ll hope it is), I think 4 tiny onions rings, and 3 little radish (idk why even put them since you can’t even taste it) this is definitely overpriced! The egg, arugula and tomato was definitely better and it’s cheaper, even has better taste. I understand as a business you need cover many costs such as location, employees, utilities etc… but come on for 1 slide of bread with salmon for $12+ is pushing it.
Tho good side, drinks only: I got a coffee latte with oat milk and matcha latte. The coffee was great! I think it was Colombian coffee and it wasn’t bitter and the temperature was perfect to drink it, lastly the presentation was outstanding! The matcha latte was also great! It was tasty and the temperature and presentation were outstanding! I’ll definitely come back for the drinks but not for the food. Tho I see some pastries that look gods but I didn’t see the prices but I might come back to try them. I wish I could give them better rate for their drinks but the food was less than ok. The cashiers and baristas were really nice and provide good customer service!

This place had a huge line which after waiting 10 minutes to order I was excited. Their food presentation was quite nice, it’s definitely too bad the flavor wasn’t a match to the appearance. I went to the south street diner one morning to check out a typical eastern coast diner. I was greeted by an incredible atmosphere, the blue and white interior which immediately drew a great vibe coming from the diner. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, which is totally okay in my opinion. When we sat down we ordered some food (chocolate chip pancakes, blueberry pancakes and some chocolate french toast with a side of bacon) as well as some drinks (bottomless coffee and a strawberry milkshake) which immediately were served warm and fresh only a few minutes later.

Staying at this hotel, I decided to try their complimentary breakfast this morning — and it was a pleasant surprise! I ordered the pancakes, and they were excellent — crispy on the edges, soft and fluffy inside. The sausage was especially memorable, juicy and packed with flavor.

For a restaurant being inside a self proclaimed 5-star restaurant the overall menu palate is very middle of the road. I loved this place. We were looking for a diner after the others we found were too small or had no parking. This gem showed up and blew away all expectations. Food taste and quality was astounding. A beautiful street bistro in the heart of the South End. The cafe is so picturesque and the food is excellent. Our waiter was very helpful and more about him later. I’ve been coming here for about 3 years and can confidently say that it’s gone downhill. Food has always been good but the service is lacking. I was there this past Saturday for breakfast and my order arrived incorrect. I sat at the table right by the bar and even with 5+ employees close by, it was still hard to get their attention. I ordered the torta with sausage and it didn’t originally come with it. When I finally talked to our server, he was able to bring out a side of sausage fairly quickly. I’d noticed a small hair on the plate and it took a while for us to be checked on so I could get a replacement. When I talked to the server to let him know, he was pretty dismissive and I decided that I didn’t need the side of sausage since I could tell they were just going to change the plate then provide me with a new order.
The servers and hostesses by the door were very chatty with each other and I saw a lot of PDA. It reminded me of high school.
The South End Buttery was one of my favorite breakfast/brunch places in Boston but I unfortunately will not be returning.

We had a great brunch on Sunday at south end buttery. I got the huevos rancheros and my husband got the burger. I got an iced matcha latte which was great! Super food, super friendly staff, super atmosphere outside in the summer for breakfast. So much good stuff to say. Got the 3 scrambled eggs, with taters and linguica. Delicious. We also had the French toast which was the best we had ever had. Bread seemed so fresh and melted in your mouth. Also had the stuffed strawberry French toast which was awesome. But I like the plain French toast with maple syrup the best just because of the pure flavor. But it was all good. Had cinnamon cream of wheat, fruit cup, sausage links and patty and all was good. Links had a very good flavor to them. They also brought out a basket of buttered toast on fresh bread and a sweet cake like bread. It was so delicious. Everyone was friendly and helpful and loved explaining the Portuguese parts of the breakfast. Highly recommend this place for breakfast. Wish we here longer to go back and try the Azores breakfast.

It's been over 13 years since my last review of Neighborhood Café. I have to say it was a pleasure to see some familiar faces because I haven't been there in at least 5 or so years. Trust me, it wasn't because of the food and service; it was an old friend I no longer associate with--this was their favorite place, and now that they moved away, it's mine again. Jalayne, one of the twins who's been there for at least a decade, was our server and she remembered me, so that was wonderful.
Service was still great and even though Yum is next door, I feel you cannot beat the service and food of this mom-and-pop restaurant. I ordered the build-your-own omelette and my wife had the Cajun breakfast. I love the fresh-squeezed orange juice and the environment. Came here for breakfast with my work colleagues and initially was not hopeful to find hearty vegan options given the Portuguese cuisine. At first, I didn’t see anything on the regular menu, but luckily I asked our server and they referred me to the Vegan Breakfast Special they had! As the oldest restaurant in Cambridge, S&S has cemented its status as a beloved local spot that serves a wide range of classic deli fares. l came here for lunch a few times and always had a satisfying experience.
Among the appetizers, the Chopped Liver was my favorite. Although it was unexpectedly paired with pineapple and melon slices - a combination that didn't entirely complement the inherent sweetness of the liver spread - it was still enjoyable when paired with crackers and red onions. Bathed in their signature sauce, the S&S Fried Shrimp was also good. The sauce leaned more towards sweet rather than spicy, but the jumbo shrimp was still nice and crispy.
The Seared Tuna Salad was fairly basic, but with its generous portions, it was an ideal choice for a hearty meal. Corned Beef Reuben came with perfectly toasted marble rye bread, and the corned beef itself was solid.

We browsed the menu before dining in so we were not surprised by the price. It's definitely on the pricey end, but they did deliver the quality!
We had the matcha latte, iced coffee, egg salad sandwich and bacon ham avocado sandwich. The drinks and food were served with ceramic dinewares, which is the dining experience I expected for the price you paid for (other than the iced coffee in plastic cup). The matcha latte was awesome, the fine quality matcha pair with oatmilk plus some latte art-- perfect!! Our sandwiches were nicely done, but it took like 15min to prepare, will not recommend if you're in a hurry.
The place is pretty tight and can be packed sometimes. Not recommend for big party.
One thing that gets me was they did not separate the recyclable of the trash bin at the back! All the drinks bottles, plastic cups, compostable and regular trash are all mixed together. IMO, a place like this that charged almost $10 for a cup of coffee can do better with their trash system!

One of the cutest cafe experiences I've ever had... The cafe was VERY packed with people but it had a lot of fun seating (communal tables, two-tops and tiered seating!!) and a really gorgeous menu of Japanese lattes, brunch food and sweets/pastries!
The hojicha latte had so much body and depth I was almost reminded of black sesame. The latte art was really gorgeous as well. I really liked it! The latte paired incredibly well with the houjicha cake slice, which came with strawberry, coffee jelly, a raspberry syrup and vanilla ice cream. The cake slice was the ideal level of mildly sweet, which was enhanced by all of the added components -- the fruity sweetness of the raspberry syrup, the creaminess of the vanilla, the tartness of the strawberry and the bitterness of the jelly. It felt like such a luxurious dessert experience!
Ideal for a fun afternoon date or a sweet pick-me-up!

The staff were very gracious in making two lattes for my wonderful wife. I ordered one smoked maple like last year plus a new salted caramel pumpkin! She liked them both!

I got the fresh apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon crepe. The flavors were fine but I was confused about the apples not being cooked through. They were basically raw so the whole thing didn’t really meld together. The flavors were nice, but would’ve been perfect if the apples were cooked through and the flavors were melted into them. The chai latte was kind of bland and watered down.

Local Legend! Italian coffee beans at its best.
No exaggeration here, they have probably 20+ flavors of beans. All smell wonderful. The expert staff there are not only friendly and patient to bring down the jar and let you smell it if you can't decide, but they are also polite and knowledgeable.
You can slice and dice however way you want, half a pound of this, half a pound of that in whole beans or even quarter pound grounded in front of you.

I'm a self proclaimed latte artist and nerd; I can tell you that their coffee beans provide a very even grind and distribution. Most beans extract for 16 to 25 seconds and their beans extract for 47 seconds in a fine setting and produces great aroma. Their coffee beans have the perfect consistency and amount of oil that you can tell is expertly blended and roasted.
Bonus fact: they serve really good Lemon Slush until early October (when cooler weather starts).

Best coffee beans in Boston! I love this place. It’s very old, historic, and beautiful. Aside from coffee they sell other gems as well. But the coffee is the best. What got me is how reasonable the prices are. I’ve been multiple times and sometimes my coffee beans are less expensive then at a grocery store. Which is awesome, especially for the North End of Boston. I even picked up a cup of house blend while I was there. Perfect for sipping while roaming the streets of the North End, and Boston.

I really enjoyed breakfast at Sweet Life! Such a festive and home-like feel to this bakery cafe! It was my first time trying this place, but it has been on my radar and wish list for some time. No wait time. I sat at the bar and enjoyed a cappuccino - yum! Michelin Star! No but really, this place is amazing. 10/10 easily the best coffee I ever had. My brother & I were visiting from Florida and as my brother would say, this place is "Michelin Star!" I wish I could pluck this place from Boston and take it over to us here in FL.
I had planned for us to visit a new coffee shop each day while we were visiting but after this one we didn't want to try any where else, it was just too good. We both ended up loving what we got from our very first visit so each time we visited during our week stay we got the same thing each time. I got the Iced Aussie Latte (with whole milk + added coconut flavor) & my brother got the Hot Aussie Latte just the way it comes.
Each time we visited the owner was also there working and he was always very kind and great to talk to. I wish his business well because next time I'm in Boston I'm picking up my Aussie Latte!

Stopped by on Saturday for a quick snack. Had a beer and cookie while my friend got a mocha and a pastry. Both the cookie and pastry were delicious and big to be satiating.
The staff was nice but the biggest issue was the atmosphere. The space isn’t too large and over half the tables were taken up by people just on there laptops with no drink or food in sight as over 8 people waited for a table so we could eat. Been coming here since they first opened, and while their sandwiches are all solid, the breakfast egg and sausage sandwich is what keeps me coming back. Legit sausage patties, perfectly fried eggs—and when I’m all in, I go double patties, double egg, add cheese. Definitely not cheap, but totally worth the splurge if you’re starving. It’s one of those sandwiches that carries you through the entire day.
Their pastries are solid too. The veggie danish is easily one of the best I’ve had in the city—more like a croissant, flaky savory, and not overly heavy. One of the best breakfast diners in town! I used to be a big fan of Knotty Pine for many years, but this place has completely won me over—it’s even better. My wife and I still had quite a bit of food on our plates when the server asked if we were ready to go. We had omelettes which were very good sized, well cooked and a plentiful amount of filling. Disappointing at best. We came at open, 8 am. We ordered a medium coffee & a medium iced vanilla latte, a cinnamon roll, a vanilla filled donut and a chocolate croissant to go. We sat and watched people that ordered after us come and go with their food. We didn’t even order anything that wasn’t prepared. After almost 15 minutes I went back up to the counter to wait. I also didn’t see a manager or a shift supervisor that was trying to delegate responsibilities to get the line moving faster. It was all very inefficient. I bought the FLOUR cookbook years ago and made many of her recipes so this was a very disappointing experience.

You are required to order online, which I didn’t realize until I had already walked all the way over. They make you order via the website and for my one breakfast sandwich on a Saturday around 11:30am the wait was 20 minutes. So I left to go get a coffee to kill time and came back.
I ordered the Jimmy pesto, which was on a homemade English muffin with pesto, pickled red onion, feta, and spinach. The egg is a square egg “cake” (not a single fried egg) but it was fluffy if not especially flavorful. Overall the red onions were the key to this sandwich which was a bit rich (the muffin was very greasy which you can see in the photo). For $7 all in I think it’s fine but probably won’t order again.
To go only, a few picnic tables in the parklet and a few more two seaters next to the restaurant, but no heaters or protection from the wind.

TL;DR: If you need a quick, healthy, and delicious meal and/or coffee, this is the place for you! Their prices are reasonable, their ingredients are fresh and yummy, and the staff very friendly.
I've gotten a few meals here after starting to work in the area, and it's safe to say that in just a few weeks, they've won over my loyalty and I plan on being a regular.
The staff are always laid back, friendly, and hard working here. Additionally, if you come in regularly, the staff will remember you and make you feel especially welcome, and they will work with you to get the coffee and/or food that makes you want to come back.
I have a dietary restriction around pork and shellfish for religious reasons, and they are able to accommodate that with protein swaps and/or removals. They also have other food restrictions labeled like dairy free dishes, vegan dishes, dishes with soy, gluten-free stuff, nuts, and probably more.
Their coffee is also delicious, with a focus on light roasts. I didn't used to like light roasts too much, but the way their lattes pair with the coffee and the good quality of the coffee itself has changed my mind on that. The batista is especially friendly and will work with you to help get the cup of coffee that you want and/or need!
Overall, there's something for pretty much everyone here that wants a good coffee, breakfast, or lunch from a convenient location downtown.

The salad was good but honestly I was concerned about their cleanliness. I went to go pick up my online order and while I was there I noticed that the matcha was in a large pitcher with no lid just sitting open on the counter. I came to revival on a Thursday afternoon, and it was pretty quiet. The inside was well designed and the staff was decent. My issue comes from the food and food quality. I ordered an iced matcha which is slightly sweeter than I prefer but otherwise good. The problem was with the chickpeasy salad. I was unaware that the salad came tossed with dressing, and before I took it from the hands of the person handing it to me, I asked if it was possible to get it remade, as the salad was drenched in dressing. He assured me that it would be able to be remade. 5 mins later, it was remade and was excited to try it. Much to my dismay when I removed the cover on the salad I was hit with a smell that wasn’t fresh and all of the toppings still had dressing on them with some looking like they’ve been rinsed. I am not sure if the person who remade the food didn’t think I would notice, but I notice food quality and presentation. If you zoom in, you can notice the poppy seed dressing still on the chickpeas, radish, and pickled onion. The cucumbers were soggy. I could not eat it. I didn’t approach the staff about this matter because there’s an obvious lack of concern for patrons health and proper food safety practices. The drink was okay. I wouldn’t eat here.

Really excellent lattes, per usual. Love that they have a few vegan menu options (low-key wish they had more) but I'll take what I can get. We got their Sweet Potato Sandwich on whole wheat bread, and it was delicious. Good combo of sweet and savory with the apples and vinaigrette, I think it could use a little more tang to offset the sweetness, like pickles or something, but it was great.

Quaint little cafe tucked away on newbury street. Has some nice patio/street seating overlooking pedestrians. Coffee is decent along with some of the lunch sandwiches and salads. However, nothing really blew me away in terms of taste. A really cool cafe to visit - they have tons of indoor seating as well with good ventilation. Highly recommend to visit or to pop in if you want a quick bite to eat.
