This place is great for lunch and a quick dinner option. Can order ahead for pick up. On this visit, I ordered one of the newer items- Verde bowl with spicy tender pork. I've never had fake pork before and I quite I liked it. The bowl itself was obviously well thought out and balanced, very flavorful with a good mix of textures and crunch. I might hesitate to order again tho as it has fried plantains/tostones and fried jalapenos which I could get without, but then it seems to become an even smaller portion than it was. I does feels it a bit expensive for what it is, but most things in this area are. Moreover, they do care about their where they get their ingredients, so I don't mind paying for that. The sides are great including the hummus, fries soups, beverages etc. I've had several other sandwiches including the meatball sub and falafel. Overall my only issue is they use more oil in their items (eg fried falafel or oily meatballs) than my tummy is used to. Tasty though nonetheless, and would be fine for those with less sensitive stomachs. I will continue to support this trailblazing vegetarian/ vegan establishment who sources locally, and hope to see more thoughtful places like it in the immediate future. Kudos to the food lab !

I went with the Autumn Rolls and the Grilled Eggplant and the King Oyster Mushrooms. I brought my friend who isn’t vegan and she even thought the food was incredible! To top off the experience, the decor is so nice and lush and cozy, and the our server, Christian, is exceptionally friendly and attentive. can’t recommend this place enough!

She offered me store credit but I wanted a partial refund. She took my info and said the manager would be in touch within a few days (it has now been 6) to issue me a refund. I have heard nothing and there has been no credit card charge update. I don’t like writing negative reviews but this was the worst pad thai I have ever had and I would’ve been fine if they had tried to make this right (maybe the cook was rushed and this is not what it is typically like) but they apparently don’t care about service. I don’t recommend ordering from here- there are far better restaurants worthy of your $ who actually care about service and how they treat customers. All I wanted was an $11 refund and I absolutely would have ordered there again to give it a second go, but they couldn’t even do that right… Zhu Vegan Kitchen was extremely disappointing. You have no way to contact them via email to put in writing so if you have a problem you’re just ignored if you call by phone like I was after calling BOTH locations.

The flavor was not good either in both of the dumplings. The carrot cake is one of the best I’ve ever had, moist, cream cheese forward, and not overly spiced, 10/10. I also got the Dark Wuyi oolong tea which was wonderful and generous. The ambiance was not great, the bus stop is about 4 feet from the floor to ceiling windows, full of litter. I ought to try their dinner some time and not sit by the windows. Oh and their wines are good!

My guest at one point mentioned that some of the eggplant pieces didn't just taste a little bland but also a little raw and undercooked. To her, the pork ribs were basically a bland "block of meat" and there was not enough sauce at the bottom to dip it on. The only item that required minimal doctoring to us was the lettuce wraps because it came with a side sauce. (But no veggies? Just lettuce and pork meatballs and a handful of herbs? Sad.) It's also frustrating when this is a fancy Asian fusion place where the rice is not included and is a separate charge because then the food better be good to make up for that! We are frequent visitors at Cafe Luna and have dined-in and picked up orders frequently in the last 2-3 years. We love the food and the servers are extremely nice. However, we have found the host/staff at check-in to be cold on many occasions and at times treating us differently than other customers. But we tend to avoid focusing on this aspect as we love the food. However, today we placed an order through Toast app at 9.23am which was supposed to be ready for pick up at 9.38am. We reached there at 9.39am and only got our order at 10.04am. Despite checking in multiple times at the check in desk we weren’t given the true status of our order. They kept asking for us to wait for 2 mins when in reality it took them nearly 25 mins to hand over the order with no sense of apology or respect towards our time. On top of it, when we opened the order at home, we realized that every item we had ordered was not customized to what we had asked and paid for. We called multiple times but were kept on hold forever. We understand the place can be busy but expected more respect towards our time and money. I came in for a to-go order with my very active and hungry one-year-old, and the staff couldn’t have been kinder. We were craving Ethiopian food on a rainy day and found this place. Everything was absolutely delicious. The peanut tea was fabulous - we’d never had it before but will definitely get it again!
