I stopped by the café for a quick takeaway flat white. The coffee was a great roast, affordable and delicious. I was so happy they were open on a Sunday.
Even though I was only there for coffee, I couldn't help but notice how amazing the pastries and baked goods looked. The café had a beautiful French feel and was clearly a very popular spot with the locals.
I'll definitely be back to try one of their incredible-looking macarons or even to pick up a cake for a special occasion.

Panda is an absolute gem - always friendly, welcoming, and somehow remembers my order without me having to say a word. His warm presence made early mornings feel a little brighter, and it’s rare to find that kind of genuine connection in the hustle of daily life.

Today my youngest and I went to a surprising little gem in the Redlands. It's called Whisky Business and you can find them at 4/200 Old Cleveland Rd, Capalaba QLD 4157. They're open 7 days a week from 8am to 2pm daily.
This lovely little restaurant is dog friendly with plenty of gluten free, dairy free and vegan options available. The atmosphere is relaxed and it is very popular with the locals, our dog included. Staff are friendly and helpful. Plenty of shared business parking also available. The food is absolutely delicious too and reasonably priced. 😋

What a nice surprise and wonderful experience we had at Whisky Business today!
We were just going to Capalaba for a beach walk and grab a coffee on the way. Whisky Business happened to be in the area so we decided to give it a go as it had been sitting on my list for a while now. I’m really happy we did.
On our arrival, a really friendly staff greeted us and showed us the way to the menu stand and our table. Once we were seated, she brought out a jar of water and cutlery and advised us on their counter service. The whole time we were there, the service was outstanding and the staff were very informative, thorough and considerate, which we were quite happy about. Def one of the best services we have received while dining at a cafe. So thanks so much guys.
Food wise, it was brilliant and really delicious. I grabbed a medium skinny cap and their Fried Chicken and waffle egg Benny, while my partner ordered a medium soy flat white and their egg Benny with smoked salmon. The waffle on the bottom was infused with maple syrup but remained crispy. It was sweet but not overpowering. The fried chicken was tender and tasty. The poached eggs sitting on top were covered in hollandaise sauce, which was prob the best I have had. It was thick and tangy to the right point. The dish would have been flawless if the fried chicken had been crispy. The base for my partner’s egg Benny was a thick chunk of Turkish bread (by the look of it), which we both thought was absolutely brilliant and a wonderful idea. We loved that it was crispy on the edge. The salmon was nice and fresh. Aside from the meals, they had a fairly big variety of cake and treats and a whole shelf dedicated to macrons, which also looked really tempting, but we will come back some other time to give them a try.
I also really loved their decor and interior design. The artworks and cutlery cabinet. The whole place gave me that beachy and Mediterranean vibe, which I really adored.
In general, it was a really enjoyable dining experience and we will def come back for more good stuff. The service was on point throughout, from the sec we went in to the time we left. The staff were all attentive and nice.

Prepare your stomach and taste buds for a sweet treat! The creme brulee crepes were yum. Lots of custard filling. Creme brulee latte was yum. Extremely sweet, but that was to be expected. I was really excited to try a thick shake but could not as it's full of ice cream and I would have needed to substitute that amount of dairy for something non diary and there wasn't an option to do so. 😢

Absolutely let down! This is how we felt when we paid $180 for our son’s Birthday Cake. Supposed to feed 20 people! Doubtful it would feed 10! Dry overcooked sponge and the filling had almost no taste, the instructions given were not followed and a very underwhelming result. We have reached out for some kind of refund but no response!
Very disappointed do not recommend!
Just to add to the response we had here the cake was not lovely it was dry and horrible.
And the offer of yet another cake as some kind of apology will not bring back our son’s 18 th birthday disappointment!

I have always passed by Passiontree and thought I should try it out. So glad I did stop recently, the staff are excellent, very warm and friendly. Passiontree is very clean and tidy with plenty of tables - their long banquet seat is a popular spot. Choosing from their extensive cake selection was my only difficultly as everything looks delicious, they offer gluten free cake options and a coffee and cake deal for $10. I can recommend their fruit scones! Despite it's open air location - it's actually a very pleasant place to sit, relax and unwind. I will certainly stop in again on my next shopping trip to Carindale Mall.

Whilst the staff are very nice and the food was lovely the high tea was a complete rip off.
They charge $70 for 2 people for one triple layer tray. Whilst there was enough cake for two, the sandwiches were small and not sufficient. The scones weren’t fresh but heated up in the microwave,and the mini tarts were heated upon the microwave. Having paid less for a lot more, I feel very disappointed at the cost.

Loved everything about this café. I’d been wanting to visit whenever I drove by, but there was always a long queue, so I didn’t go for a while. Finally, I managed to stop for a coffee and a beef pie. We had the pepper pie and the vindaloo. Some chunks of meat but not a lot. Mostly thick gravy but a decent size with nice pastry and flavour.

It appears that there have been changes in ownership (maybe not), and the quality of service has declined. Based on my experience as a former fan of the French Patisserie, the quality of products are not also same as before and has seen a decline. Additionally, they now impose a surcharge of around 15% even for ‘takeaway’ cakes and desserts on Sundays. While a Sunday surcharge might be reasonable for dine-in customers since they receive service, it doesn't seem logical when purchasing cakes or desserts to take away in a box.
My review, posted back in 2019 (5 Stars):

I was excited to find a French Patisserie I hadn’t visited, that we could pop into on our way elsewhere today.
We ordered a pistachio mousse eclair and a pistachio citrus tart.
The assistant who served us gave me a glare and an annoyed expression when I asked her to use clean tongs on my citrus tart as I have an anaphylactic reaction to kiwifruit- present on other food un the cabinet and I could see the tongs were sticky. That’s not a difficult request and she did decide to use a glove instead of tongs).
My partner had two bites of the eclair and said he couldn’t eat anymore. It was stale and the cream in the middle was not the pistachio mousse as stated in the display case.
The citrus pistachio tart was very nice, although the pastry was slightly soft. Compared to a typical citrus tart.
We are strong coffee drinkers; however found the coffee was not to our taste.

Fabulous stay....we had a city view suite and it was really fabulous with plenty of counter space and an in room sink and bar which we never knew we needed but was one of our favorite features! Massive shout out to the concierge team who welcomed us on arrival and got us settled in almost without us noticing and to Bobby C on the reception team.... absolutely the best and most efficient check in we've ever had...even before the very warm, welcoming and very personal explanation of everything the hotel and Brisbane had to offer. Bonus points for the lovely birthday treat delivered to our room! The only thing which made us a bit uncomfortable was the fact that there are poolside suites by the fabulous pool and room service and house keeping etc keep having to get past the pool lounge area to service these rooms. I'm not sure what could be done about this...it's just the design. Otherwise one of the best hotels weve stayed at in this category! (Also...a big shout out again for Bobby!!!)

Nice selection of pastries. The first cage we visited in Brisbane! I was served coffee though I ordered soy chai latte, they quickly rectified this. Ah what a find! We were on a little hunt for some light brekkie spots and thank Google for bringing this up. We had 2 items each - husband got the pain aux raisin + classique baguette, and I got the chicken&leek pie + strawberry tart. Despite the size it appears like on these pictures, all items were pretty light eats, just perfect on a Saturday morning. Quick service and amazing smiles from all the staff, and we were just beyond happy with the whole experience. A must-try if you're after some French bites/brekkie 🙂

I like Portside. There is street parking & undercover. Boutique eating options including a fine Japanese restaurant & Dendy Theatre.
There is a convenience store and other shops tailored to onsite & local highrise dwellers. I hear purchase & rental options for living is up there. But it is justified being close enough to the city where some will indeed have beautiful views, and far enough away from the hustle and bustle.
You may want to bring a brollie as the street awnings aren't great and it can run a chilly breeze also.
But I think it needs a makeover & rebranding. Some people still think this is the port for cruise ships. It needs life added to it like Eat Street just up the road. It possibly has a romantic potential, but maybe that last ship has sailed.
I recommend you visit this place for a quiet romantic evening, just be prepared to snuggle up should the weather turn bad.

Love driving to Portside Wharf to take a stroll, have a drink, then a meal. We don't live close, so only drive out about twice a year. Different cusines to choose from, most with a great vibe. Parking can be a bit frustrating so patience is key. The breeze off the river is welcome in summer but take something warm for during cooler months. It's lovely to look across the river to the city, and see the city lights reflecting on the water while watching the rivercats come and go. Great location for a night out!

This place is so nice and the staff are really friendly! It's my 'local' so it's always nice to be remembered and acknowledged by name. I only go to the Gordon Park shop which is pretty small but there are tables out the front and a more private section down the side. Dogs are allowed out front which is great and the staff will always bring a treat out for your furry friend which my dog loves. The food is tasty - obviously they are well known for their macarons but their freshly baked muffins and other food is also delicious.

We went for some brunch on a weekday and they didn't have their actual kitchen open so the weekends might be different. A beautifully presented and satisfying high tea. Every element was thoughtfully put together, and the overall experience—from the warm service to the inviting atmosphere—was lovely. The sweets were a real highlight, each one absolutely delicious.
The savouries were also nice, especially the mushroom tart and the goat’s cheese with beetroot tart. The sandwiches, however, could be improved—the bread was a little cold and dense, with more bread than filling. A touch more freshness and balance would really elevate them.
The coffee leaned more towards a flat white than a cappuccino, but that was only a small detail. Overall, this is a wonderful spot for high tea, and one I’d happily recommend.

We visited Belle Époque for breakfast two mornings in a row while in Brisbane for work, and it was a lovely experience overall. The café’s Parisian charm is undeniable—elegant interiors, a relaxed atmosphere, and attentive, friendly staff who made us feel right at home.
On our first morning, I wasn’t too hungry and opted for the pistachio croissant. It was beautifully done—light, flaky, and warmed to perfection without being flattened (a rare feat!). Not too sweet, just the right balance. My colleagues had the classic croissant and gave it a big thumbs up.
The next day, I decided to try something more substantial and ordered the Tartine aux Champignons with creamy cashew cheese. While the presentation was lovely, I found the cashew cheese overwhelmingly salty, which made it hard to finish. It might benefit from a lighter touch or an alternative ingredient to balance the flavors.
That said, my colleagues were delighted with their Avocado & Poached Eggs and Ricotta & Strawberry Pancakes—both dishes were described as absolutely delicious.
The coffee was consistently great, and the service was impeccable. Despite one dish not quite hitting the mark for me, Belle Époque is a beautiful spot for a refined breakfast or a quiet morning catch-up. I’d happily return—especially for another one of those pistachio croissants!

I visited Belle Époque and tried the pistachio and raspberry croissants. The pistachio croissant was absolutely delicious — rich, nutty, and perfectly balanced. On the other hand, the raspberry one was underwhelming; it felt more like eating plain jam on a croissant, lacking any real depth of flavour.
Both croissants were served chilled, which was a bit disappointing since many other patisseries serve them warm and fresh — it really makes a difference.
The café itself has a cosy atmosphere and a variety of pastries on offer, but I found the service to be a bit rude and not particularly welcoming. Also, the prices are noticeably higher compared to other similar spots.
Overall, I might return just for the pistachio croissant, but it’s not a place I’d visit regularly or recommend strongly.
