Little Red Dumpling has long been one of our favourite takeaway spots, but tonight’s experience was incredibly disappointing.
We ordered six dishes, and while most of the food was up to their usual standard, one dish stood out for all the wrong reasons. The dumplings contained meat that was clearly off—you could taste the spoilage immediately. Concerned that it might have been a mistake or oversight in the kitchen, we called the restaurant to politely inform them, thinking they might want to address it internally.
To our surprise, as soon as we mentioned the issue, the call was abruptly disconnected. Assuming it may have been a technical issue, we called back a few minutes later. However, we were hung up on again as soon as we raised the concern.
This kind of response is deeply unprofessional and concerning. Rather than acknowledging the issue or even listening, we were effectively silenced. It’s not just about one bad dish—it’s about how a business responds to feedback, especially when it relates to potential food safety.
We hope this is taken seriously, and that measures are taken to ensure quality control and proper customer service moving forward.

From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed - the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. The service was smooth and friendly, but what truly blew me away was the quality of the food. This place was amazing and were able to fit myself and a large group of friends at such short notice even though the restaurant was almost full. They also had space for my friend to place her wheelchair.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was so delicious!! So was the Saki ( I had to get more!)

We went looking for a quick bite and found this place nestled in a corner off Albert Lane. Really glad we went in! The food was excellent. As always, we ordered Edamame to go with our beers and they came out piping hot and salty. Just delicious. We ordered the chicken wings and fried gyoza and it was truly a struggle to decide which one we liked more. Just brilliant. Great flavours and for a city restaurant the prices were very reasonable.
Only four stars for atmosphere because everything is done by App and there’s very little interaction with the wait staff. Otherwise, this place was bang on.

I came here to try the omurice but ended up ordering the chicken katsu as my main dish. The long fries were just regular loaded fries, so nothing to say more about them. What really impressed me was their cheesecake, especially with the brown sugar syrup. They also offer a wide variety of beers and drinks. Review: I hadn’t been to Bamboo Basket in a hot minute so thought it was time to give it another go. Normally I go to Little Red Dumpling for my dumpling cravings but they have been letting me down recently. This place however, really surprised me. We were greeted on arrival and decided pretty quickly what we were going to order. The food came out promptly and you could tell it was made in house. We started with the pork and flour buns which was alright, I thought the buns would be bao size but they were tiny and you could hardly fit anything in them. The pork was tender and there was a nice but subtle sweet and sour sauce. Xiaolongbao are one of my favourites and these did not disappoint, they had a good flavour and were filled with a nice amount of soup to slurp up. Pork and prawn dumplings were a decent size and you could see the prawn in them which is always a good sign. Lastly, we had the pan-fried pork dumplings which came with a crispy lattice. These had a great flavour and a good amount of filling. Overall, the food was really good and hit the dumpling pot. I will be going back.

Best Shanghai food in Brisbane! Dumplings and noodles were the best (all made in-restaurant) but don't disregard the sweet n sour pork and the wontons. Free covered parking and excellent location near wharf, airport, city... Recommend it to locals and visitors as well because it won't disappoint you. Also, cheers and kudos to the 4-in-1 waiter. Had my first experience here on Saturday night for a girls night dinner for a friends birthday. I can’t lie, I am more of a pub girl when it comes to food and was a little skeptical as to whether I would enjoy the more fine dining experience. I walked out of there unable to rate it higher!! The view was amazing, the staff were spectacular, the cocktails beautiful and the food, oh my god, the food was to die for!! So full of flavour and such an interesting menu!! We had some entrees, mains and desserts and us ladies all shared so we could try more of the foods. Stand out was definitely the duck and the bug meat, but honestly it was all amazing.

We enjoyed the mouthwatering beef, soft shell crab, Moreton Bay bug dumplings, and the swordfish — all of which were absolutely amazing. For dessert, we had the fried ice cream, and to our surprise, the team treated us to a delicious chocolate cigar to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Such a thoughtful touch to end a perfect meal.

- Peach Oolong (Fragrant but stale)
- Mung bean jelly noodle (It was good and refreshing, especially with the warm weather now)

- Xiao Long Bao (so-so, disappointed that it did not served with vinegar & ginger)
- Dim Sum Set (Not recommended; the chef did not inform us that Xiao Long Bao is included as well, the Siu Mai & Hargow included are very dry that Coles microwavable ones are better)
Overall it’s a nice dining spot as the historical building, but considering the price, you will find better spots for Chinese cuisine/Dim Sum in Brisbane :)

The experience and service we received from Donna Chang and her staff was exceptional to say the least. From the initial response to our company’s dinner enquiry to leaving the restaurant on the night, we felt welcomed and that we were indeed receiving 5 star treatment. From the back office booking staff, specifically Meredith and our main server for the night Hugo, we felt that the process went smoothly, and every request catered to. The room décor provided our team with a cozy, relaxed, yet exquisite atmosphere to enjoy the banquet which was served throughout the night in a timely manner. The food itself was excellent with a fusion of various Asian and European flavors and our vegetarian guests were pleasantly surprised with high quality options they were provided. Hugo was excellent in his attentiveness and politeness and was able to cater to the various cocktail requests our team had. The wine was exquisite also with a few guests selecting several reds to accompany their dishes. My friends and I really enjoyed the 8-course vegan banquet we had on Monday night.
Not everyone was vegan, but all of us loved every mouthful and every sip of the accompanying fruity mocktails. I don’t really like mushrooms, but the pancake and shitake mushroom dishes were so good! It’s a great location with an enjoyable dining experience overall. The hainan chicken was easily the highlight — flavourful with just the right punch of ginger. The wontons were silky and smooth with a generous pork filling, and the noodles in the Dan Dan dish were perfect.
However, the sauces for both the wontons and Dan Dan noodles were far too vinegary, which overpowered the other flavours. The Dan Dan sauce, in particular, wasn’t very traditional — I couldn’t taste the sesame paste, and it leaned heavily toward a sweet and tangy profile. It was so intense that I ended up pairing most of it with the fried chicken just to balance the flavour. I was also a little disappointed that it didn’t include the usual pork mince.
That said, the service and atmosphere were excellent, and overall it was a good experience. With a few tweaks to the sauces, this place could easily be a favourite.

The re-opened Mei Wei Dumplings at the casino has quickly become my go-to spot for a meal. The food is consistently delicious, packed with flavor, and offered in generous portions—definitely worth every penny.

I've been to Meiwei multiple times over the last couple years and the tastes and service have been consistently good despite the negative reviews. I must admit though, wait times during busier periods may not be ideal but it is worthwhile especially with the price you pay, even more so when dining with membership (free to sign up). The monthly special rotations are nicely presented and mouth watering, entrees and desserts equally so (highly recommend the egg tarts). I enjoy coming here in small groups with family and friends and will definitely continue to do so in future.

Scallops: cooked perfectly with a great balance of creamy and crunchy textures
Fried chicken ribs: super crunchy in a light way. Seasoned well and it went perfectly with the sweet and tangy dipping sauce

Cauliflower with gochujang cheddar: this was slightly disappointing - the cauliflower was still a bit crunchy, the mouth feel would've been better if it had been cooked longer. Under-seasoned and the gochujang flavour was way too subtle
Poached chicken salad: great combo of flavours, chicken was beautifully cooked
The service was fantastic - the young man who waited was attentive and good at anticipating what was needed.

I’ve been multiple times and never not been impressed by the food. My recent visit was made extra special by our server, Amelia, who was so friendly and attentive. We were also gifted a free birthday drink which made the birthday girls night. We had the scallops, sweetcorn dumplings, fried rice and katsu chicken (possibly the best I’ve ever tasted).

They say third time lucky! Managed to get a reservation when friends were in town, to see if the gossip was true. Lucky to pick a not so busy night, we went with the banquet, mainly because there were so many choices! Definitely not your average Asian cuisine, really next level! Loved all the food, particular shout out to the wait staff, who looked after us without being intrusive nor forgetful. Hot tip is to make a booking. We enjoyed a feast of dumplings! We decided to try all three, we preferred the chicken and the pork. We also had a pork cloud, that was delicious too.
We will definitely come back here for these yummy dumplings and especially on Tuesday or Thursday when the dumplings are only $1 each!
This little shop is nothing to write home about as far as decor but if you aren’t after a fancy place but you want to eat delicious fresh dumplings then go here! We sat out at the little table out the front of the shop but they do have seating inside if you prefer or the weather dictates.

The food was so well cooked and quite authentic, the braised pork belly and the fish cake in particular was the favourite. Don’t get the banquet ( $65) with a large group of you want value for money and a full meal ! We were a group of 9 and probably got food that would have fed 6 -7 people at the most . Most dishes weren’t big enough for all of our group to share and those that were we got a small mouthful each . A few from our group had to go to Maccas afterwards as they were still hungry . Would’ve been a whole bunch cheaper if we just bought those exact same dishes instead of the banquet . Most of the food was good except for some meat on the bone that was so dry and chewy we had trouble actually getting it off the bone and onto plates ( obviously being share meals we could hardly gnaw on the bone ) . We did get a few entrees but for main we got 2 very small bowls of rice , 2 small bowls of pork , one other small meat dish and a greens dish .for 9 people this was no where near enough as each bowl was a normal serve for 3 people max . I’ve seen some of the photos Other people have put up and we didn’t get as much food as some of the smaller groups have in the past , but price seems to have gone up too so obviously you’re now getting less food for more money.
The room itself was dark , echoey and noisy. Not suitable if you actually want to talk to anyone .
The only positives were that the drinks were quite good and the service seemed fast. But I certainly won’t be back.

Another great place, recommended in the Qantas travel magazine. It was a short walk from my hotel, easy to find and I loved dining al fresco under the fairy tree lights. Service was fast and easy with a nice selection of wines. This aint no China Doll or Ho Lee Fook. We dined here tonight and had mixed feelings about the experience. The atmosphere was genuinely lovely and the wine list is exceptional. It is one of the better selections we have come across in a while.
I ordered the noodles with cheek beef and pork dumplings. The dish was flavourful, well-cooked and quite satisfying. I would rate it a 4 out of 5 on its own.
Unfortunately, my wife’s experience was not as enjoyable. She ordered the mushroom dish, which arrived as a pile of deep-fried crispy noodles and onions, with barely any mushrooms included. The batter was heavy and the onions lacked flavour, making the dish difficult to eat. She also ordered a side of greens, which turned out to be silverbeet that was undercooked and tough. Rated 2-5 for her dish. Seriously it was a close 1 star ⭐️ it was that bad.
Service was okay. It was not rude, but fairly average and somewhat inattentive, which took away from the overall experience.
It is a shame, because the venue has a lot of potential and my meal was enjoyable. However, with such a disappointing dish on the table and the service not really lifting the overall experience, we feel a 3 out of 5 rating is a fair reflection.

Went to happy boy for a celebratory banquet! The servers were lovely and very attentive, the mood lighting in the area we sat was lovely and made for a 5 star atmosphere, it felt very upper class. The food was good, but nothing was absolutely mind blowing. While exploring Brisbane, I came across Stanley, a striking Chinese restaurant nestled by the river. The location is truly picturesque, with beautiful views by the water and under the bridge a lovely spot for a meal.

We were from Melbourne and wanted to have a nice dinner with the city view. We didn’t have a reservation but the staff was kind enough to reserve a table for us in 45mins, so we waited at a rooftop bar nearby.
The table they gave us had the story bridge and city view along the river, which was stunning. All the staff are friendly and patient, with a few even helping film a proposal that happened in the restaurant.
However, for the price we paid, the food was a big disappointment. We ordered vegetarian fried rice, salt & pepper tofu and crispy eggplant.
The fried rice was mediocre. Barely any ingredients and the flavouring not that interesting.
Crispy eggplant was so-so. Crispy, yes. But too sweet and we definitely have had better.
Lastly, the biggest disappointment is the salt & pepper tofu. There was no pepper, just mildly salty fried tofu.
Expect the pay for the views and not for the food. Wouldn’t come back for the food, but giving 2 stars instead of 1 because all the staff were superstars and extremely helpful.

What an experience. We ordered a Banquet for four so we could experiment a variety of flavours which did not disappoint. One of my children cant eat gluten and the staff were fantastic. One of the easiest places when it comes to dietary requirements. They are very flexible too your food requirements, be it allergy related or other, which makes it more seamless when dining out with groups. Lea was our waitress. Very attentive, friendly and efficient.
What an experience. We ordered the banquet for four so we could try a variety of flavours, and it didn’t disappoint. One of my children can’t eat gluten and the staff were fantastic. This was one of the easiest places we’ve been to when it comes to dietary requirements. They’re flexible with food preferences, whether allergy-related or otherwise, which makes dining out with groups seamless.
Lea was our waitress. She was attentive, friendly and efficient. Something I often notice when dining out is you order drinks, get your meal, and then nobody checks if you’d like another. Lea did, which meant we happily ordered more drinks while also increasing our average dollar spend. Smart move, Lea.

f you’re in Southbank and craving delicious Asian cuisine, this spot is an absolute must visit. Every time we come here, we try something new and every dish has been a hit. The menu is packed with tempting options, and nothing has disappointed us so far.
We highly recommend the Pork, Crab Meat & Flying Fish Roe Shumai—packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. The char kway teow and Cantonese Charred Flat Rice Noodles (Wat Tan Hor Fun) were also standout dishes rich, authentic, and incredibly satisfying.
Each plate bursts with bold, authentic flavours, and you can really taste the care that goes into every recipe. We always leave full and happy, already looking forward to our next visit. A must try for any Asian food lover in the area!

The food was very average, and some dishes were downright awful—especially the Sichuan-style ones, which were a real weak point. The $16 fruit platter was not fresh at all🤮🤮🤮.
What made things worse was the terrible service. The waitstaff were rude, and when we spoke to the manager, their attitude was even worse! 🙄Before even understanding what had happened, the manager immediately blamed us, saying that we must not be used to that variety of watermelon, which is why we thought it tasted strange???
In the end, they waived the charge for the fruit platter (something we never asked for—we would have much preferred that they take the issue seriously, since it concerns food safety). At the beginning staff told me only seafood congee will be served at dinner, but I cannot have seafood after tooth extraction. So they asked the chef to cook me beef congee that is not on the menu. I’m so surprised.
They also noticed my swelling face and asked if I need the ice pack, and offered me a hand-made ice pack (ice cube cover by cling warp). They brought me a proper ice pack when they found it and wish me can feel comfortable while eating. I’m surprised again because this is far way beyond my expectations towards certain restaurant services, especially an Asian restaurant.
I would say the dim sum and congee here, best in town！I strongly recommend fresh crab meat xiao long bao,cause I ordered two serves with eight pieces (four pieces in one serve). Really juicy and tasty, feel like I’m back to Shanghai again.

Stumbled upon this hidden gem today with a friend, so glad we popped in for lunch, we had the karage curry lunch special, chicken and cabbage dumplings poached with chilli sauce and the laksa, absolutely every dish was better than I could imagine, I usually am not a fan of curry but the karage curry special was delicious! Unfortunately I did not enjoy my meal. I ordered the chicken karaage curry with rice but the dish was not enjoyable: the fried chicken pieces were huge and very hard to eat, also they were full of fat parts. I don't know, it seemed the fried chicken did not have much care, they just battered and fried without trimming the fatty bits. The chicken situation put me off and I did not finish my meal. One found the katsu chicken wasn't great quality. Everyone else on our table enjoyed their food. The ordering app doesn't have the full menu on it though so some had to go up to order the deals.

This used to be one of my favourite restaurants. I still remember how much I loved the first taste of their pork belly rice.
But today was a complete letdown. I ordered my usual pork belly dish, only to receive an overcooked, burnt, and torn-up plate. I mentioned it to the male staff, explaining that the meat was burnt and too chewy to eat—honestly, I couldn’t even finish half of it.
His response? “It’s okay, it just looks crispy.” No apology, no explanation—just a dismissive attitude. I asked for it to be remade, and instead of a fresh dish, I was given just a single piece of pork belly. Still, no apology.
When I requested a refund due to the poor service, he walked off to call the manager. After the call, he didn’t come back to me—he started training a new female staff member while I stood there waiting. I had to approach him again to follow up.
If anything, he needs retraining himself before teaching anyone else.
Very disappointing experience from a place I used to love.

Lovely place in West End for dumplings! The price is great and you get good values with the generous portion. There's a variety of dumplings and fillings on the menu but it just seems like remixes of one dumpling (same shape, same skin, filled with meat of your choice and served either in soup, steamed, or pan fried depending on your preference).
The location is easily accessible and has plenty of seating. The service is good but the time we went took awhile to receive our order as I think they prioritized ubereats orders waiting on pick up.
Quality wise, this is like the fast food version of dumplings and noodles. Nice variety but I wouldn't call it outstanding.
Overall, still a good place for cheap eats and hang with friends but definitely go elsewhere if you're looking for some real impressive dumplings.
P.S.: the beef noodle soup is generous in portion while being really heavy and oily, only order it if you can handle that.

Very appalled with the customer service and lack of preparation. The boys working seemed unwelcoming and just seemed to not care about the customer service. They had run out of most of the dumplings and said it would be an 8 minute wait, which was fine with us. After about 15 minutes and multiple customers ordering food and receiving their food, there was still no sign of our meal. My mum decided to walk up to the counter to check what was happening but although the boy looked up at her he continued to do whatever he was doing. She waited for another 5 mins while both staff members ignored her and continued doing jobs. Finally they came over to her with most of our meal but told us they hadn't put the prawn and pork dumplings on and if we wanted them we would have to wait another 10 mins. This is not how customer service should be. It would have been fine if they had told us what was happening or even acknowledged my mum but they didn't. Very disappointed.

I was looking back at the photos I took from this restaurant when we visited last year. My friends and I had dinner here before the musical show. I would say the food is perfect 👌 We enjoyed the good service and food here. For all three of us, the food is quite generous and very filling. I love all their spices. Such an amazing experience at Ahmet’s. Went out with the family on our last visit to South Bank. One of my daughters is Gluten Intolerant yet there were plenty of choices on the menu and she was very happy. The meal sizes were good and the prices also very reasonable considering location. The new menu is a huge improvement – it feels fresher and finally shows real effort in listening to customers. You can definitely see the place is evolving.
We tried the ribs with baos – an absolute explosion of flavour – along with lotus chips and guacamole, which were excellent. The crab burger was a standout, with perfectly crispy, whole crab – no broken bits, just the real deal.
For now, the drinks are still the usual, but we asked, and they’re in the process of updating them too, which is great news. The view is still fantastic, and the service was spot on – the girl who served us was super friendly.

Came for dinner and drinks with a large group. I ordered a burger and a passionfruit mojito which was good. Service wasn’t amazing which isn’t surprising considering we had a large group but some orders that were called out weren’t by name so people got theirs before others who had ordered earlier. The restaurant itself was clean and nicely spaced out everyone had a seat and good heating. If I’m craving a burger, I’d come again but there wasn’t much variety for the mains.

My recent experience at Self Beach on Sunday was, unfortunately, a letdown, especially as I was looking forward to a self-care treat after a hectic weekend. The initial wait to be seated was lengthy, and upon finally being told to find a table, there were no servers in sight for a good ten minutes. When a server did appear, the instruction was simply to "sit anywhere," which made the initial wait feel pointless.
I ordered the garlic linguini pasta, which arrived excessively oily. The fish and chips from the main course were equally disappointing, with the fish served cold and, to make matters worse, contained fish bones. The quality of the food was so off-putting that I couldn't finish either dish.
When I brought these issues to the server's attention, including showing her the oily pasta and the fish bone, her response was a dismissive "Oh, okay," without any apology or attempt to rectify the situation. This lack of care confirmed that the staff was ill-equipped to handle the complaints.
I used to enjoy bringing friends to Self Beach for its small bites and catch-up atmosphere, but based on this experience, I won't be returning. The customer service was poor, and the food quality was simply disgusting, with everything served lukewarm. South Beach has clearly lost its touch in terms of both food quality and overall service. AND HE WIPED UP THE DIRT INSTANTLY WITH A TOWEL BUT I AM STILL NOT SURE IF THAT TOWEL WAS ALSO SANITARY.
PLUS, THE CHAIR AND THE TABLE WERE FULL OF DUSTS AS WELL. I ASKED FOR THAT MALE SERVER TO CLEAN THEM UP BUT I STILL FOUND SOME DIRTY THINGS AND I HAD TO WIPE THEM AND COULD SEE DARK DIRT ON MY TISSUES.
ALSO, THE UNISEX TOILET WAS EXTEMELY DIRTY AT THE TIME I HAVE VISITED THERE FOR DINNER. IT WAS GROSS TO SEE STAINS ON THE TOILET AND THE SINK.
I WOULD NOT VISIT THIS RESTAURANT ONCE MORE IF I COME VISIT BRISBANE AGAIN.

Hidden away in Fish Lane South Brisbane. This hidden little gem is a must do. We love the share plate concept and great array of foods on offer. We didn't have a reservation but they were very happy to accommodate us for a late lunch. We tried the eggplant fries, yellow fin tuna and fried chicken. Was here the other night with a mate. The service was fast-paced, maybe a bit too rushed for my liking. There’s a chubby middle-aged manager who I actually found quite cute, which added a bit of sparkle to the night.
But let’s talk about the food — to be honest, I really didn’t get it. The pricing is on the high side compared to many nearby restaurants, yet the presentation and portion size didn’t justify it at all. We ordered three different dishes, and all of them were tiny, like they were made for display rather than eating. Including drinks, the bill went over $120, and I left still feeling hungry.

Food was delicious. We had the set menu, but even that was a bit confusing as when we booked we were told the set menu would be different to the one on the evening. As our table was greater than six, we were told we could only have the set menu.
We got seated by the maître de, but he kind of left us to fend for ourselves. Asking the waiter about the cocktails she tells us she doesn’t drink alcohol and couldn’t help us. Not like it’s her job to know the menu, I guess.
When food was brought to our table we had to ask for the staff to tell us what was brought. The food was magnificent, very delicious, the service subpar.
While clearing the plates one of the waiters dropped a dirty knife on the birthday girl, staining her new white shirt, but no apologies were given. During the meal it seemed like we were an inconvenience to the waiter when we wanted more drinks.
I would happily order take away from here next time but not sure about going back to dine.

Tried Hello Please on a whim as we couldn’t get into into some of the other restaurants in Fish Lane on a busy Saturday night for a preshow dinner. We didn’t have a reservation but they accommodated us immediately. The hostess realised immediately that we were there for a preshow meal and made sure our orders went in quickly so we could finish our meal on time. Amazing thoughtful service! The food came out quickly and was excellent all around. Bold pan-Asian flavours with a focus on spice. The cocktails that we tried were also delicious.
Would highly recommend and is high on our list for a return visit, especially if we were heading to QPAC.

Very long wait times for food - unfortunately we had to leave before the last of the food came out. We did let the server know what time our show started so that she could perhaps even guide our ordering to something that could be made quickly. My wife booked one of The Golden Pig’s cooking classes for my birthday, and it turned out to be a five star experience. The class was run by Katrina, a knowledgeable chef and excellent host, with Tom assisting, a skilled butcher from Merthyr Village (if I am remembering correctly).
The session focused on butchering a whole pig, using every part to create numerous dishes with a South East Asian influence which we then get to sit down and enjoy. As someone who enjoys cooking at home, I picked up plenty of useful tips I’ll be using in my own kitchen. It was also great to get hands-on experience in a commercial kitchen and see how everything is organised, along with the chance to use professional-grade equipment.
The wine list was extensive, and I tried five different wines I’d never had before….all interesting and just nice to pair different wines with the multiple dishes we had. The restaurant staff were excellent throughout the day, especially Trinity, who was attentive, knowledgeable and added to the good mood of the whole experience.
Beyond all the skills and knowledge gained, the day was simply great fun. My wife and I were part of a group of twelve, and by the end it felt like friends getting together for a party.
Couldn’t recommend this experience enough, a perfect gift for anyone with even a slight interest in cooking.

This place has been recommended to me a few times over the years, so I finally made it there with a girlfriend for lunch.
Service is a bit weird, not on the warm side.
We had two entry=2 very small bite, betal leaf is good, if you’ve been to Thailand, it’s then a standard one in most of the good Thai restaurants.
Scallops is simple, and that’s $20 for 2.
We then had stir fry mushroom and veggie curry, one bottle of sparkling water, 2 rice. Total of $140 for 2
I would still give 5 star for the food, even though there’s nothing exciting. The missing star is for the venue. With the kitchen in the mid of the restaurant, I left with my entire silk outfit and hair smells like a Chinese kitchen. The chair and table is quite basic too.
So the experience is a mixture of up market price, fusion not so creative dishes, street food smelly setup, and indifferent service.

We recently held our company Christmas team event at The Golden Pig, and it was a smash hit!
Al and Katrina hosted a the cooking class for our group of 13, splitting us into smaller teams to prepare a truly fantastic meal under their excellent guidance.
The class was not only incredibly fun and engaging but also resulted in some seriously delicious food. The standout favorite by far was the cold-smoked salmon and beetroot salad.
The feedback from our entire team was unanimous, this was the best team event we have ever done.

The food itself is not too bad, they all taste amazing individually, however the way they were served it just doesn’t flow, some size are best served together, not wait until one dish is finished then serve the other.
We were sited in front of the open kitchen, at the beginning it was exciting as we all love to look our food is cooked, until we realised it’s just the back kitchen so it was really loud when they putting pots and bowls away, it’s rather echoing so was bit hard to talk, we practically shouted all night.
The front desk lady was lovely greeting us, our table service was bit lack of passion, there is no head of the table when you dinning out so you shouldn’t only talk to the one person to take order and rest of us had to wave to order before you rushing out of our table.
A great restaurant should not only have amazing food, it should Lao have, not top the notch but at least decent service so your guest feels at least welcome.
Try the take away food because the food it is truly amazing, but I won’t recommend dine in.

Lovely place that we stumbled into looking for lunch. The dining area inside was spacious and clean. We ordered a few sides and two larger dishes each - which ended up being way too much food as the portion sizes are really big (in a good way)! Ordered a Bibimbap and was pleasantly surprised by what we got for the price ($14.90).
The ingredients were incredibly fresh and varied and portion was also quite large! You definitely can’t find a stone pot bibimbap at this price elsewhere. The crispy rice bottom was also done so well, since care was taken to oil the bowl.
Though this shop offers a variety of cuisines and isn’t too ‘authentic’, it is definitely a great spot for healthy food. Will come back to try other menu items!

A traditional Japanese venue with great decor and BBQs at each table for your BBQing pleasure.
The staff are very friendly, including the first nice waitress who explained the menu and how their tablet system works.
We didn't have a booking on this occasion, so we're told to return after 45 minutes as there were fully booked on a Sunday (pre-public holiday), which we were more than happy to do.
As we ordered on the tablet each individual dish came out fairly quickly.
Most dishes tasted very fresh, including the assorted Sashimi.
The Octopus Karaage tasted great, however the Octopus it self was overcooked.
The Takoyaki (octopus balls) was also very tasty with a little dash of soy sauce.
Overall a nice venue and good food. We were given a 10%off voucher to return which we may do next time visiting the area.

We enjoyed the buffet, all of the meals tasted outstanding, were immaculately presented, and were generous portion sizes. Could barely finish our meal in the end.

The best SE Asian food I’ve had for a long time.
Without any doubt, THE BEST papaya salad and edamame, and knockout stir fry, curry and poached chicken salad too.
We visited for lunch today and loved it. The service was stellar and the kitchen happily catered for my mother who is coeliac. We got the banquet and bottomless drinks, and were so full by the end of it.

Came here over the weekend to have dinner and was pleased to see that their menu caters for a range of dietary needs and preferences.
My partner wanted to try the jackfruit curry but had accidentally ordered other dishes. We were not too fussed though because all the dishes we had were really great. The pad Thai and edamame were my favourites.
Service was absolutely excellent here. The ladies were attentive as hell. The moment we finished our bottle of table water, she gave us a new one. Thank you!

I’ve been living in Australia for over six years, and I love exploring good restaurants. But this was by far the most terrible experience I’ve ever had in terms of taste, customer service, and hygiene.
The staff didn’t bother to serve the food and just shouted the order number. The bowls and spoons were filthy with food residue still stuck on them. The soup and oil didn’t mix at all, leaving a disgusting flavor. The extra noodles were overcooked and soggy, almost like a block.

Hidden near Uptown in the Queen Street Mall, Hakataya Ramen is not only reminiscent of Japan Ramen restaurants but it delivers on the experiences and quality of food like every restaurant in Japan.
The staff all speak Japanese to each other and have the distinct Japanese English accent when you speak to them, the food is very tasty and well priced and the gyoza is packed with meat.
Bonus is the restaurant was playing Studio Ghibli instrumentals during my visit and it wasn’t too busy, loud or rushed. Food came very quickly and with plenty of gratitude and kindness, again as you’d expect when you go to Japan.

We popped in here as walk-ins for a pre-theatre dinner after avoiding coming for the longest time due to the pre-paid online booking. I understand why this kind of thing can be necessary, but I usually avoid places which do it.
I'm not sure if we just ended up ordering the wrong things, but it was very underwhelming overall. The flavours were strong and bold, but several of the dishes had an flavour which overwhelmed everything else. For the squid, that was the seaweed seasoning, and the chicken was strongly vinegar forward. The pork bun was nothing special and the prawn toast didn't delight. For the price, I think there are better offerings nearby.
Having said that, the atmosphere is lovely. So green and leafy, you can easily forget you're in the city. The staff were also totally on top of service; very friendly, quick to take orders and top up water.

Amazing food and great atmosphere. Enjoyed a romantic dinner with my partner here on Saturday and the staff picked us a lovely spot that was a bit more private which was very thoughtful. I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt this experience needed to be shared. We recently visited this place with decent expectations, but unfortunately, the customer service disappointed us.
While taking order she was alright but while delivering the food and later on she seemed to be unfriendly . She didn’t offer us cutlery, tissues, or even side plates, which are basic essentials when dining in. We had to ask for each item individually, and every time we did, she responded with clear irritation — as if we were bothering her. When she finally brought the cutlery, she placed it on the table in a dismissive and rude manner, without a word or any acknowledgment. It really impacted the overall experience.

Great meals, really enjoyed the duck San choy bow. The food was very good. We were warned they would be a wait despite the lack of patrons due to short staffing, but I felt we really didn't wait that long tbh.
Only real complaint was my guests made it clear they were pescatarian and the fried rice was ordered without bacon. It arrived with chicken, which was not stated on the menu. The poor waitress was amazing almost mortified for the mistake, we hope they have rectified their menus now.

Had xiao long bao, har gow, spicy pork and Chinese cabbage, and pork and prawn pan fried. The pork and prawn were stunning. A nice little venue, cosy atmosphere though generally fairly quiet. Value for money is only reasonable. Enjoyed both the steamed and pan fried vegan dumplings though they were only decent and the pan fried ones weren't that crispy. The broccoli salad was nice and fresh though super garlic-laden. Nice tap beer. Edamame was well below average, quite overcooked and not representative of reasonable value in my opinion. The vegan fried green beans were great. Little bowls for the dumplings instead of plates would be great. I arrived for take-away dumplings, the menu stated handmade dumplings, sauce etc… I asked for a dumpling that had some spice to it - it took the staff member quite a while to tell me which one to select - I ordered a prawn and pork dumpling with a homemade spicy soy sauce. I’m always on the search for good dumplings and I was not let down. I ordered the Spicy Peanut Dressing Prawn & Pork Dumplings and they did not disappoint. The sauce was delicious and homemade as was the dumpling which was light in texture and full of flavour. The food was incredible. We went on $1 dumping Tuesday (after 5pm guys!) ordered 6 different types of dumplings and had a feast.
The staff are super friendly and helpful and informative.
Pork and prawn was definitely our favourite! I'll be back even at full price I would still dine here :)

Came here because New Shanghai was closing up around 8pm on a Wednedsay night. This was quite delicious although the waitress did seem a bit hesitant to act when I asked for Vinegar with my dumplings. I liked the soup inside my steamed Siu Loong Bow and the lightly fried skin of my Pot Stickers. We also loved the beans. Light and non-oily! So Good! But prices are so much more expensive than the authentic restaurants out there.

Save yourself some time and go to Jackpot noodles – the prices are double but the food lesser quality. The drinks overpriced with $7.50 for a tea… and over $20 for a noodle stir-fry. But the worst aspect (and there are many) I must say is the service. With the wait staff ignoring the patrons gazes and ignoring their questions or when their ask for most basic things. The difference between when the first person got their order to the last was about 30 minutes. People were walking out of the restaurant without even getting their meals. Came here for dinner with a group of friends and the food was fantastic and the restaurant was stunning and very spacious. The entry can look quite deceiving small but is very large and open in the back where the windows are. The food was better than I expected and tasted of very high quality. There is always other stuff you can get there apart from dumplings which makes sense I guess, there was from memory lots of side dish's you could get with hot and cold dish's as well, there was also a delicious wok range and more stuff which I couldn't remember. There are a larger variety of dumplings at lunch I heard so it's probably better to go there for lunch. I really think people should at least give this place a try because the food is spectacular and the restaurant is very professional, not enough people are going here and it would be a shame to see such a quality restaurant struggling. Give these guys a go!!

The pan fried dumplings were actually raw at the top. When I brought this up, I was informed that is how they are meant to be served. I would avoid the pan fried dumplings. The steamed dumplings were okay but I feel are over priced. The drinks menu was out dated and they didn't have the special available.
