I came here to hear JB sing and enjoy tostada night. A few whiskey and sodas outside in midtown are not a bad way to spend the evening. The upstairs area is very neat. They also don’t serve any food and right where they’re so-called rooftop deck is set up besides the little Houston skyline you get to see a big stinky dumpster.

I proceed to try and order a drink AT the bar that was empty at the time and she is texting on her phone, looks up and looks my dead in the eyes and gets back to texting. Did not bother once to ask what I needed so the nice bartender next to her attended me. We had money to spend and well we just took our business else where. You would think working in this industry you would want to make your money back in tips( but this woman was the worst bartender I have ever had. Can’t believe I even have to make this review smh. Houston has a ton of bars, won’t be back. Mind you, we drove from out of town.

After i explained that to the bartender he stated that well this time I’ll let it happen but next time that’s not going to be happening no bar is going to allow that. I felt disrespected because I have a health issue that I can’t not bring something to accommodate in case of an emergency. however, I understand that TABC does Not allow certain beverages, but under federal law, anyone who is experiencing a health issue is exempt from TABC if the beverage or food item is non alcoholic and is for a health condition. I usually don’t have complaints about places however I feel that the bartender should have been more accommodating and trained on ADA accommodations. i was so upset i started crying because ive never had a situation like this happen to me in public and being diabetic is already embarrassing enough for me. fyi: i’m TABC certified and servsafe certified. i know my rights as a diabetic and also from a food and beverage standpoint. i was really disappointed.

We originally were planning our reception in their sister space, the Crystal Ballroom at The Rice. Courtney and Emily did an amazing job ensuring our vision came to fruition, and Courtney was amazing as our day-of coordinator. We maxed out the space with 85 guests and the room still felt spacious. Our floral and cake deliveries were also handled seamlessly the day of. I couldn't recommend a better venue. A few things I didn’t love: their ambiance. The building is old and ventilation clearly struggles. The couches upstairs are beat up and dated. The sound system upstairs was loud in all the wrong ways and makes the patio space uncomfortably loud. Ordering via barcode feels disenchanting — I crave the interaction and banter. Overall, it’s my new favorite place for drinks and food. Can’t wait to try the Strawberry Basil Marg!

The burrito was entirely eaten so must have been good. My chicken enchiladas were absolutely delicious. The thick green tangy sauce was lick the plate good & the Spanish rice was excellent too. The refried beans had good texture but were a little bland. I ordered the pumpkin infused margarita with a sugar rim. It was perfect. Not too sweet and absolutely delicious! The music was very loud & clubby for 5pm. We have not been to El Big Bad in awhile. The food & margaritas are still excellent but we were not a fan of the changes to the service. We will go again eventually, but would go much more often if the service environment was better.

I politely asked her for a glass of water and I heard the gentleman behind the bar say I didn’t ID him which is fine because he had not asked for my ID at that point, I’m 39 so maybe my costume and the hair wig that I had on you couldn’t tell that I was of age. I went to pull out my ID to order a drink and my wallet and the lady behind the bar told me oh no we’re closed. We’ve already had our last call. I looked at my clock it was 1am on the dot. She then told me that they’ve had their last call. I said OK sat back down still waiting for my date to come out of the bathroom not two minutes later did two new guests walk in the building and she immediately served them alcohol. I approach the bar very politely and said oh can we order drinks? I thought you said it was last call. She then turned to me and said no it’s been last call for you. I didn’t want any confrontations. I just feel like you’ve been partying too much tonight and you don’t need anymore. I had not even had one drink of alcohol that entire night or day. Maybe coming in off the street a little pumped up from all the Halloween and craziness going on gave her a false impression that we were intoxicated or that I was intoxicated. But what I do know as manager at a restaurant is that we always are struggling to bring in and acquire new guest and to keep them coming back to make them into regulars. I would be embarrassed to bring a date there. The drink was very small so I kept expecting a server to come to our table and offer additional adult beverages. Lord knows I would have spent the money. But no…as it turns out, the one and only bar tender never leaves the bar (we came in on Sunday for brunch). We finished eating and the plates just stayed there. Enough time lapsed after that I grabbed our empty plates and walked them to the bar so we could get that out of the way. Then they brought out croissant sandwiches with ham & cheese, an avocado, cheese and ham sandwich with was amazing! They had an egg bowl that I believe had onion, bell peppers and cheese and THAT was yummy and moist and paired well with everything else. There was also side plates of sausage and bacon. For dessert at the end it was a big chocolate chip cookie that was warm straight out of the oven, the only thing it was missing was a big glass of milk lol. The ambiance was superb with wonderful vibrant plants everywhere and they also have a whole section to buy plants which was amazing. All prices are pretty average for the plants. Food prices are ... I'll say on the fancier side so if you're on a budget maybe pass until next time but I definitely recommend coming here if you enjoy eating outside and enjoying the weather. I swapped the masa cakes for asparagus and though I don't normally enjoy dark meat the dish was pretty good. My friends shared a burger which the kitchen split for them on two plates which I thought was a nice touch. One friend ordered the pasta bolognese and let me have a bite. I have to say that the pasta was not good. I left the bite on the side of my plate unattended. Overall I think Tiny's is a really solid option, but I continue to prefer it for brunch or lunch over their dinner service.

Brian was quick to respond over email and did a great job of adjusting the menu to our needs, providing information about parking and logistics, and being flexible in adjustments on headcount. We loved all the food from the shower and would recommend any and all of it. My personal favorites were the mushroom croquettes, Migas and French toast! They hit the quantities right on the head because there was enough food for everyone and little to none leftover or gone to waste! Despite guaranteeing 50 guests including kids for the event, they were kind enough to exclude toddlers who we originally counted but who didn’t eat and only count the number of adults who actually showed up that day, saving us a significant amount of what would have been money down the drain. All the bar staff were great! They let me sample some brews and I did end up going with their reccomends. They had a pizzeria adjacent and a pop up sandwich Yuma shop. I had the Bratwurst pressed sandwich. It was fantastic. My family owned a deli/sandwich shop for years and I am a sandwich snob 😆 but they delivered a perfect pressed sandwich which was great after a hard day. The atmosphere outside was nice with plenty of space and seating. The only reason for my 4 star is this. The girl they had greeting and checking ID's was not pleasant friendly or inviting. As a front of the house employee she didnt Crack a smile or seem to have a friendly interaction with anyone the whole time I was there.

I started the night feeling nauseous so I didn't get to try their drinks. However my friend said the one she had was $11-$13 and really great and worth it.
