History Museums
The Maha Weerawong National Museum in Nakhon Ratchasima offers a fascinating glimpse into the region's history and culture. The museum boasts an extensive collection of artifacts, including ancient artworks, historical documents, and archaeological discoveries gathered from various provinces by Somdej Phra Maha Wirawong. This small yet captivating museum showcases Buddha images from different periods, pottery pieces, tools, and other cultural relics dating back to the Dvaravati period.
This is a very small museum. But there are interesting sights.

Very limited exhibits. You'll be done with everything in less than 20 minutes. Do wish they combine all the museums into one place. 50baht for foreigners.

A small museum with a big heart. Central location, easy access and a lot of information on the province, region and nation, on show (see my YouTube vlog), all on one level, here.

The best hospitality and knowledge! We appreciated all staff here. Highly recommended for your next visit. You will not regret!

Tiny one room museum with some gorgeous items to look at. Peeking through the window of their storeroom at the ceramics they can’t display is a must. It’s 100 baht entry price is the same as much larger museums in Asia, but it’s worth a visit. And there’s not much else to do for tourists in this city. We were staying using it as a base to visit archeological sites.

The Thao Suranari (Ya Mo) Monument, located in Nakhon Ratchasima, is a significant landmark honoring Thao Suranari, also known as Ya Mo. She played a crucial role in the city's history during the Siamese-Laotian War in the 19th century. The monument features an impressive bronze statue surrounded by ornate gates and a reflecting pool.
Historic Heroine Moniment. Highly recommend to walk around and experience local cultures.

A revered place for Thai people to celebrate a warrior woman who protected Korat from Lao invaders.

A nice area, set by the historic city moat and reconstructed West Gate of possible 17th century origin under King Narai the Great. An elegant modern statue of the celebrated Governor's wife under HM King Rama III, credited with a saviour's role in thwarting Anouvong's invasion 200 years ago. The events doomed the Vientiane Laotian kingdom as a last vestige of Laan Sang on the Korat Plateau and cemented Isaan into Siam, for which it has much to be thankful.

Interesting monument. It will be very crowded since it fits right on the street. Parking is almost difficult to do it's better to use a taxi to the monument and dropping you off and picking you up after you finish business way with Ya Mo. Nestled in the northeastern part of downtown Korat, Wat Sala Loi is a serene Buddhist temple that beautifully blends spirituality with stunning architecture. Established in 1827 by the renowned Thao Suranari and her husband, this temple features an impressive assembly hall shaped like a boat gliding over waves, showcasing traditional Thai design. After undergoing significant renovations in 1973, it was honored as the best avant-garde religious building by the Siam Architects Society.
Well, the temple is located on the road encircling the old city moat, was jointly constructed in 1827 by Thao Suranari and her husband, the deputy governor of Nakhon Ratchasima. The temple’s ordination hall (Ubosot) received accolades for pioneering religious architecture from the Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage, and from the Sathirakoses-Nagapradipa Foundation in 1973. So like you can guess its worth a visit.

A mini temple wonderland. Lots of Buddhist temples, statues and deities to see, and worship if you are so inclined. I went during a Buddhist holiday so the place was very busy with worshipers. Very interesting to see how people paid their respects. Nice cafe situated in the middle of the complex too. Near the water fountain. Worth a look.

Wat Phayap, located in the city center of Korat, is a modern temple with a surprising interior. Despite its unassuming exterior, the temple houses a chamber that has been transformed to resemble a cave, complete with stalactites, stalagmites, and Buddha statues. The history of this unique site dates back to when the abbot rescued pieces of a beautiful cave from destruction by quarry blasting and incorporated them into the temple's design.
Chanced upon a Royal Temple, Wat Phayap very near Yamo Monument, less than 5mins walk. Very serene temple, small but provide great sanctuary for anyone in seek of inner peace. Was lucky to get sangkatan blessings (pay return homage to our ancestors through the help of a monk) from the abbot of the temple. Anyone visiting Korat should take time to visit this great temple. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

The royal temple of Nakhon Ratchasima and in my opinion also the only one I really see getting a clear 5 star review. Very well kept temple grounds and as an extra bonus they got this small cave with Buddha statues inside. Definitely a must visit temple when coming to the city

Phayap Temple is the royal temple of the west in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat). This royal temple was established in the reign of King Narai the Great at the same time as the founding Nakhon Ratchasima. Since Wat Payap is in the city wall west of the city pillar, the word "Phayap" means the west, so it was called 'Wat Phayap

The story goes that a construction company was digging away on a building foundation when it came across a cave. They spoke with their spiritual advisors at the monastery who told them to move the cave into the temple. Hence we have the Cave Temple. Unique and worth a visit. Small but interesting, no ticket needed. Rest of the complex also open. Bathroom in back too.

Swiss restaurant
Chez Andy Swiss Restaurant & Steak House is a European restaurant with a full bar, offering German beers and a good wine selection. The dining options include an air-conditioned room and a roofed beer garden. The menu features authentic Swiss dishes like fondue, as well as Australian ribeye, tenderloin, lamb, duck, pork chops, imported cheese, salami, sausage, fresh bread, salads, pizza and house-made gnocchi.
Top notch. Amazing server steered us in all the right directions. I came for a steak for my birthday. Local water buffalo steak? Ok, I’ll try it. I saw hash browns on another menu item. What I really wanted…some good hash browns. Can I get that as a side? No prob. Later I decided I’d love a fried egg on top of the hash browns. My god what a birthday. The Caesar salad was super yummy with impeccably fresh ingredients. I’m not one of these high falutin’ salad eaters but I can’t imagine a better Caesar dressing. Haven’t gotten the bill yet but I’m not great with math so I’m sure it will be fine.

My most favourite Western restaurant in Korat!!! This restaurant serves Swiss, German and Italian dishes. They really know how to make them all authentic enough yet flavourful to locals. Try their best ever Beef Tartare. Even surpassed those high profile places in Bangkok with almost half the price. Swiss cheese salad was so good and the portion is for 2+ persons. The buffalo tenderloin was also terrific. No smell and very tender, cook to perfection. Every time I come to this place, I never have my belly space left for dessert but they do have vast choice of them and great bar too. Not to miss when you're in Korat.
Taspol J — Google review
Visiting the city for some volleyball and needed sustenance. Reading the reviews of restaurants in the area and chose Chez Andy’s and what a delight. Everything was tasty as can be. Yellow pea soup was delicious and my gnocchi was fantastic. For being out on the provinces this restaurant is a beacon of tasty wonderfulness.
Jamie L — Google review
For the price? No. No detectible chicken in cordon bleu, deli meat ham and cheese , fried flat (not rolled even)in schnitzel style, there is nothing authentic about the dishes here the bread tasted store-bought. The bread was OK but for the price save your money. This is not true to form for the western food prop reports to represent at least for the dishes I had. The menu is unwieldy and overwhelming. There’s no way you make all these things well without a number of all the premade components way over priced for the quality of the food potatoes were greasy and not flavorful. pasta was OK. Save your money.
Tony H — Google review
It was a bit difficult to find the restaurant but the food was quick, fresh, and in general delicious. The spatzle was somewhat dry but they immediately cooked us a new one. The SERVICE was AMAZING, cared so much whether we enjoyed our food or not. When asked about each dish, the manager ( in the vdo) explained everything in detail so well.
Jewy — Google review
I love their pizza crust. Pasta was a bit too bland, and the fettuccine wasn’t aldante. Beef tenderloin was good appropriate with the price. My favorite was actually their stir-fried potato side dish, it was flavorful!

First impression when I first came here is the decoration, it reminds me of the time I traveled to Switzerland. The chef is friendly and staff service is good. What caught my intention the most was the food in terms of smell, decoration, quality, and taste. I have nothing to complain about as it’s just so delicious and savory. Personally, I think it is worth the price. I would definitely come back again and recommend this restaurant to anyone who would like to try European cuisine.

If you're looking for a dining experience that combines exquisite cuisine with stunning views, The Grill Room Korat is the place to be. Perched on the 20th floor of Kantary, this restaurant offers breathtaking vistas of the city while you indulge in some of the finest steaks and burgers you'll find in Thailand. Guests rave about the exceptional presentation and flavors of their meals, including delightful desserts prepared right at your table. The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting, making it perfect for any occasion.
Dining at The Grill Room is an experience not to be missed. Wine is amazing, food is amazing, and some of their desserts are prepared table side. Situated on the 20th floor of Kantary, it has a beautiful view of the city. The service staff are friendly and absolutely professional. After returning for the nth time, there really is nothing to complain about. I will definitely be back for more.
Kirk C — Google review
One of the best steaks I’ve eaten in a long time! Presentation was also top-notch. The atmosphere in the restaurant is incredible, as are the views from the 20th floor. My single critique is that service could’ve been just a touch better, specifically with regards to attentiveness from the waitstaff. I’m not going to let that affect the overall score, though… it was really an incredible meal!

5 stars on all dimensions. Good vibes, warm hospitality, and delicious and quality foods.
Thira W — Google review
Underwhelmed at 2x price. Note that that and service they are added to the menu; go for a drink maybe an apo - not worth (atmosphere great, view fantastic). the food however, was subpar. the steak was tough, mashed potatoes cold, seafood tasted frozen, french fries too oily. service was good. mixed drinks decent but pricey, although the mint in the Mojito not muddled in the glass as it should be. A perfectly cooked ribeye should taste rich, juicy, and tender with a deep, beefy flavor. The exterior should be well-seared to a golden brown, creating a flavorful crust, while the interior should be cooked to your desired level of doneness, medium-rare in this case….seasoned, the natural flavors of the beef should shine through, making each bite a savory delight (it wasn’t)
Tony H — Google review
The ambiance is great, the food was delicious. However, the kitchen wasn’t very considerate with the timing of our food delivery. We had received our cheese and cold cuts plate and salad, and had not even touched our salad yet, when our main course started to come out. We felt very rushed and it took away from what could have been a great dining experience. Also, we have finished our dinner, and so far no one has approached us to see if we’d like any coffee or dessert. For this level of restaurant, the lack of attention to service is a big miss in my opinion. Not sure what happened, but the first table we were shown to, the linen was very wet on one side and had to move tables. Also, in a personal note, the table was a bit high for the chairs provided (or vice versa). I ended up using the back pillow to sit on, to compensate for the height difference.

Steak house
The Chokchai Steakhouse in Pak Chong is unchanged since the pre-pandemic visit. The burger remains tasty, particularly the Kurobuta pork burger. While there are better burgers available elsewhere, this place still offers decent taste and quality. It's a convenient stop when traveling to Khaoyaior, Korat, or Isan area. However, its only drawback is the distance from the parking area.
A big resort like attraction for Thais and foreigners alike. This place is historic in a way as it is the birth of beef steaks in Thailand many years ago. There's children horse riding, tours for those wanting to know more about raising castles for food and even a camping ground. There's a steak house which serves excellent steaks as well. A must go.

This old Thai steakhouse has stood the test of time with a long and rich history. The quality of the steaks speaks for itself, showing exactly why the restaurant has been in business for so many years. The staff are knowledgeable and always ready to recommend the right portion, cut of meat, and preferred doneness—ensuring your meal is perfectly tailored to your taste. During the high season and on holidays, reservations are highly recommended

I would literally come back for my 3rd time!!! It’s the best steak shop ever! The service is very good! However, it’s a little too expensive. All in all, love it!
Yosita P — Google review
The food tastes good, the price is reasonable (note that the bill says 2,470, that is because we also ordered take away. The real price is closer to about 350 baht per person). We can feel that the beef is ‘good’. Total: 93.5/100 Edit: 4 months later, I came again… I recalculated and gave this place a 92. The score went down a bit as I changed my rubric; and some points were lost for the price.

Simply put, this is well-prepared, well-priced food. I’ve eaten several meals in this restaurant now, and none have disappointed me.
