The Pantheon, a temple built in 118-125 A.D., is one of Rome's most iconic and well-preserved ancient Roman monuments. Originally dedicated to all deities, it now serves as a Catholic church. The structure features a dome and Renaissance tombs, including that of Raphael. Visitors are often impressed by its peculiar design, myths, and stories related to the hole in its roof and special astronomical light effects.
An amazing structure from early Roman days. Such a well preserved artefact in the heart of Rome. Although it is very busy and touristy around the pantheon most days, we would still recommend everyone to make time during their stay in Rome and visit this incredible site. The structure is truly phenomenal with such incredible detail. That it has survived for so many years is a true testament to the architecture and the build of this incredible and fascinating structure. Lineups can be long to get inside but well worth the wait. There are several wonderful little cafés in the area where you can sit and enjoy a coffee or even a beer or wine while you admire The Pantheon while enjoying a drink or a snack. We would highly recommend The Pantheon to be a part of your visit in Rome. Paul and Andrea Canada 🇨🇦

One of the most unique underrated structures in the entire world. Unreinforced concrete dome that is near perfect sphere. No documentary does this place any justice. You must see it in person and experience the grandeur of standing inside and seeing it firsthand. Worth every cent and the time taking in the moment. I am still in awe that I visited it and spent some time inside, I will never forget my trip to Rome because of this amazing structure.
Michael S — Google review
An interesting experience. The structure and its interior are impressive. We bought the tickets as an add-on to our reservation through Booking.com. The place looks beautiful both at night and during the day. I recommend it.

The Pantheon truly impressed me. Stepping inside and seeing the oculus lighting the interior felt surreal. The building is incredibly well-preserved and beautifully balanced. Even with the crowds, it felt peaceful. Entry now costs 5 euros, but the experience is absolutely worth it. One of Rome’s most unforgettable landmarks.
Juan T — Google review
The Pantheon is absolutely breathtaking. Standing inside this perfectly preserved ancient temple feels like stepping back in time — the scale, the symmetry, and especially the oculus are truly awe-inspiring. Even with the crowds, the atmosphere remains powerful and serene. It’s one of Rome’s most impressive landmarks and an absolute must-see. A masterpiece of history and architecture!

A must visit when in Rome. An architectural masterpiece. Being incredibly well maintained, One is able to see the Pantheon as the Roman’s would have seen it in their time. Pictures don’t do it justice. I would recommend getting their early morning 9am so you beat the crowds. The audio guide (most languages) is available once you are inside. At 10 euro it is fantastic value as it gives a great understanding of all things about the Pantheon. Entry is quite cheap too, you can cover it all in an hour!

The Pantheon is an absolute masterpiece, breathtaking in every sense. The moment you step inside and look up at that majestic dome with the open oculus, you’re left in pure awe. It’s incredible to think that this structure has stood strong for nearly 2,000 years! The harmony of light, space, and symmetry is simply magical. Whether you love history, architecture, or just beauty itself — the Pantheon is a must-visit. Truly one of the most inspiring places on Earth.

I was passing by and saw this place, the Pantheon, which is quite a sight! 🏛️ It was a bit crowded for my taste, making it hard to move around, but the historical architecture is certainly impressive. ✨ If you don't mind the bustling atmosphere, it's worth a look. 😉 I appreciated the grandeur of the building. 🤩

The Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheater, is a monumental 3-tiered Roman amphitheater located in the center of Rome. It has stood for over 2,000 years as a symbol of Ancient Rome's architectural ingenuity and engineering advancements. This iconic structure entertained more than 50,000 spectators with gladiatorial fights, mock sea battles, and exotic animal hunts for over 400 years.
It's definitely one of the must see place. It truly stands it's popularity and what a architectural masterpiece. I would definitely recommend buying tickets in advance or best way to do is via tour guide. You would need a photo ID to enter whether you are going by yourself or through tour guide. We enjoyed the entire experience and learning about how gladiators used to use this place. Untill I visited the place I never knew it's complexity and vastness. We travelled as a family with a child. We were told not to take pram as pathways are not smooth, but it's manageable. I would definitely recommend this place.
Prashant S — Google review
Was a great site to see while on tour around the Eternal City. They recently cleaned the facade of the building so the stone is now clean and bright. Its usually very crowded for most of the day unless you come early in the morning. The guides were very nice and gave us a lot of cool information about the history of the Colosseum. Definitely a great place to see at least once while visiting Rome.
Matthew M — Google review
We had 8:45 tickets and arrived at 8:15. Once it opened at 8:30 the line moved very well. When buying tickets you have to purchase the additional museums or sites at that time you can't add them on, so be aware. We missed out on several areas because you can't add them to your ticket, and can't purchase them at the location. The Colosseum was not what I expected. I expected a big sand center, and it is not that. But it was interesting. The archeological site is spectacular. We spent 4.5 hours in total and if you had the additional sites it would easily be a full day. I ran out of energy at about the time we finished. Our plan is always go to the right, the right, the right, so that you don't go down a path that leads you away from other things. In this case it paid off because there was an area to the right where you follow a faux wood boardwalk and it takes you under a road and all the way to an incredible obelisk. Many of the sites we have been to have paper maps, and yes you can use your phone but a paper map would have been really helpful.

This was cool. As a tourist from outside Italy this was a cool thing to do. We did a tour and our tour guide was excellent, highly recommend. Our tour guide was called Valerio and he knew so much history, for any question you had he had an answer to. Highly recommend doing a tour. This was a neat part of history to see in Italy and very cool to see it in person.

The Roman Colosseum is truly one of the world’s wonders , absolutely beautiful and completely spectacular to see in person. The amount of ancient history that took place there is incredible, and you can really feel it as you walk around. The lines can get pretty long, especially if you’re traveling with a group, but I was traveling solo and was able to slip through pretty quickly. Definitely recommend buying tickets ahead of time if you want to go inside. That said, it’s also really easy (and free!) to explore the outside, which is just as impressive. An unforgettable experience and a must-see when in Rome. #ruins #world wonder
Rachel F — Google review
It's exactly what you would expect. Beautiful and historic. We went earlier in the morning. Walked right in before the crowds. Buy your tickets in advance as they do sell out. We did the arena floor tickets and were able to spend over the time inside as I wasn't too busy yet. This ticket also comes with the Palatine Hill area as well which is a huge site of historical buildings and a museum you can walk through. Well worth your time. Make sure you budget a few hours for this walk but it's definitely worth it to see.

Unforgettable — The Heart of Ancient Rome The Colosseum is one of those places that takes your breath away the moment you see it. Standing in front of this massive structure, you can’t help but imagine the gladiators, the roaring crowds, and the unbelievable history held within those stone walls. Inside, the scale is even more impressive. Walking through the arches and looking down into the arena feels surreal — like stepping into a completely different world. The guided audio or a tour is absolutely worth it; you learn so many details you’d never know just by walking around. Tip: Book your ticket in advance and go early in the morning to avoid long lines. The combined ticket with the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill is an amazing deal and helps you understand the whole story of ancient Rome. This is not just another tourist attraction — it’s a masterpiece of engineering, history, and culture. If you’re in Rome, the Colosseum is an absolute must-see. Truly iconic.

Incredible place, if you imagine how it is, and how big it is. Gladiators in the past was fighting here to stay alive , and for Caesar and rich people to have fun. It's huge building around 2000 years old build in less than 50 years. Capacity was around 50 000 people , and it was possible to fullfiled it with water , how amazing ! Majestic architecture , it is "must be" to see it ! Buy ticket for ship.the line :)

Fountain
Sights & Landmarks
Trevi Fountain is a stunning rococo fountain in Rome, designed by Nicola Salvi and completed in 1762. The fountain features sculpted figures and is fed by an aqueduct. Its dramatic design includes an imperious sculpture of Oceanus commanding rushing waters. The location of the fountain adds to its unique drama, as it is squeezed into the confluence of three streets, which may have inspired its name 'Trevi' from 'tre vie.'
Absolutely Magical — A Roman Must-See The Trevi Fountain is every bit as stunning as people say—maybe even more. The moment you turn the corner and see it, the whole scene feels like a movie. The sound of the water, the incredible sculptures, the glow of the marble… it’s pure Roman magic. Yes, it gets crowded, but the atmosphere is part of the charm. Everyone is excited, tossing coins and making little wishes. I threw my coin in too—because who doesn’t want to come back to Rome? If you want the best experience, visit early in the morning or late at night. In the evening, the fountain lights make it look even more beautiful, and the crowds are calmer. Perfect for photos and just taking in the moment. Whether you’re in Rome for a day or a week, the Trevi Fountain is a must. It’s one of those places that reminds you why people fall in love with this city.

One of the most beautiful things and place what I've ever seen in my life . This place is majestic, phenomenal and unforgettable. Statues and size of the "Fontana di Trevi" is breathtaking and unexpectable. Architecture , all Statues have a lot of small details and finally together is one Masterpiece!! Everybody have to see it minimally once per life ! Amazing , amazing, amazing
Jakub A — Google review
The Trevi Fountain absolutely exceeded my expectations. Its sheer size and detail are breathtaking, especially with the sound of rushing water echoing around the square. I joined everyone in tossing a coin for luck, it’s impossible not to. Even with the crowds, the atmosphere feels magical and unmistakably Roman.
Juan T — Google review
Yes, it's beautiful, but unfortunately the chaos surrounding this place makes it much less attractive. There's so many people (like almost everywhere), it's impossible to relax and enjoy this beauty. The experience is more like: quick, let's try to make a picture and leave. While in Rome I went there several times and during several periods of the day and it was always packed. I even check the webcams once at 2am and there were still people there!
Sidónio S — Google review
Absolutely beautiful, and obviously VERY busy hot-spot for tourists! The only thing that ruins it is rude, entitled influencer/ tourists that block the visit/ view for everyone else, selfishly taking photos and selfies for over 20 minutes. However, this doesn't detract from the stunning monument and it's attraction for Rome! You can queue (average 1-1.5 hours) to get closer to the fountain if you have time.
Claireabella C — Google review
The fountain is really beautiful. We came in the evening on a rainy day, and luckily there were not that many people. They seemed to allow people to get closer to the fountain in the lower floor every now and then. We didn’t wait for it since the view from the ground floor was already good enough.
Y.C. W — Google review
A dream come true! We went during the day and returned at night to enjoy one of the most magnificent fountains in Rome! Wonderful family experience while touring Itay! This was one of the highlights we were looking forward to and superseded our expectations!
Rolando G — Google review
The Trevi Fountain is a stunning, must-see landmark in Rome, celebrated for its magnificent Baroque design and intricate sculptures. However, its popularity means it is almost always crowded, making it difficult to get close during peak hours. Visitors recommend tossing a coin to ensure a return to Rome, but suggest visiting very early in the morning or late at night to enjoy the fountain's grandeur with fewer people.

Open air museum
Sights & Landmarks
The Roman Forum is a sprawling archaeological site in Rome, featuring ancient temples, squares, and government buildings dating back 2,000 years. It's more of an open-air museum than a conventional one and is a must-visit for first-time visitors to Rome. Despite the crowds and the need to use your imagination due to the ruins, it offers a glimpse into the glory of the ancient empire.
We went to the Roman forum around 10am to spend a few hours before our timed colosseum tickets. We entered at the top of a big hill so there was no wait. There are many entrances so I doubt anyone would have to wait too long. The space was so large and there were few maps so I kept worrying I was missing important things. It’s easy to get lost and forget what you’ve seen but after exploring for about 3 hours, the map on our way out showed we happened to do it all anyway! We skipped going into the museums inside just due to stamina, as you could be there ALL day and not see it all. There were many water ‘fountains’ around which was nice and bathrooms seemed easily accessible. Lots of cool things to see. We had the “full experience” ticket which I would recommend to anyone because within the forum there were several spots where only those with “full experience” tickets could access. I believe you can get tickets that allow access to one specific extra area but id skip the stress and get the full experience ticket. Less confusing that way as well. The photo with the large stair case was where we climbed up and entered not long after that.

It's a plaza surrounded by ancient ruins of official government buildings. It was the main marketplace. It's definitely worth visiting if you are seeing colosseum. I came to know about it when we booked our colosseum tour as a package. It's a fascinating place with full of history, but lacks maps and information board. Do allow few hours to walk as it's a massive place plus some places it's bit hilly. Near the exit there is a cafe which is a bonus point.
Prashant S — Google review
Huge Place, where you can imagine how people lived 2000 years ago, how buildings were huge and how incredible was architecture in that times. Beautiful place with full of history. In the past area was split and dedicated to more Ceasars, like Nervo, Augustus, etc . You have to see it , it's great place to get history into mind :) Tickets you can buy together with colloseum.
Jakub A — Google review
Formerly the center of public life in ancient Rome. I went here as part of my coliseum tour. Not as much grandeur of the coliseum, of course, but it was fascinating to walk through the old heart of the Eternal City, not to mention the ruins of Octavian/Augustus' palace.
Jordan B — Google review
It is quite a big area with a lot of ruins and nice statues. I think we can only enter the area once with the ticket; if we leave, we can't come back. Remember to watch the place where Caesar is buried.
Pasindu R — Google review
Amazing to see. Could easily spend all day there. We entered by "Via dei Fori Imperiali" which was a lot quieter than the entrance by the colosseum. Toilets dotted around and we found 1 cafe by our entrance. Really worth seeing.
Harriet J — Google review
What a place! We bought the combined ticket with the Colosseo entrance. Visited the Colosseo at 9 am and by 10:15 we were at the Forum, thankfully, because when we left at around 1pm, the line was so big that it went around the other street. The place is huge and you can easily get "lost"or not see some interesting parts. Tip: download some map so that you can undertand where you are at the moment. Very impressive and i left with my heart full!
Sidónio S — Google review
This was the most amazing experience - we went with a tour guide so didn’t have to wait to get in, the queue was pretty long so would recommend - I would also recommend a tour so you actually get to know what is what - our guide was very Informative, but didn’t go on and on and make it boring - it was absolutely fascinating to learn the history and see what it used to be like from pictures she showed us and what is still present today. Such a great time - would love to return and spend more time here as we only had about 1hr in here - you could easily spend 1/2 -1 day here depending on the level of your interest - highly recommend!

The Spanish Steps, also known as Scalinata della Trinita dei Monti in Italian, is a stunning 18th-century stairway located in Rome. With its unique butterfly-shaped design and 138 steps, it is a masterpiece of Roman Baroque architecture. The steps lead to the Church of Trinita dei Monti and overlook the Piazza di Spagna, where the famous Barcaccia fountain is located.
As one of Rome's most famous attractions, it's recommended to arrive in the morning. The blue sky and white clouds make for excellent photos. However, due to the large number of tourists, it's best to arrive at 9:00 at the latest. This way, you can get a photo without too many tourists. The entire attraction is not very large. Looking up, you will see the church, and below you will see the famous shopping street. You can easily spend a morning here.
Zen C — Google review
I visited the Spanish Steps and really enjoyed exploring the area around them. The atmosphere was lively and full of energy, with people sitting on the steps, taking photos, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The view from the top is amazing, and the nearby streets are filled with elegant shops, cafés, and historical buildings. It’s one of those iconic spots in Rome where you can just sit, relax, and take in the charm of the city. Definitely worth a visit.
Saeed B — Google review
We visited the Spanish Steps and Piazza di Spagna, and it's every bit as iconic as you'd imagine. The atmosphere is vibrant and full of life, though it was a little crowded when we were there, which is to be expected at such a famous spot. The view from the top of the steps, looking down over the piazza and the rooftops of Rome, is absolutely stunning. At the bottom, the Fontana della Barcaccia is a beautiful and unique centerpiece. It was lovely to see people gathered around the "sinking boat" sculpture to take photos. Despite the crowds, it's one of those essential Roman experiences. Finding a spot on the steps to sit and take in the scene is a moment you won't forget. Just be prepared to share it with plenty of other admirers.
Khalid A — Google review
We visited the Spanish Steps at night, and it was very nice. The area was calm and not very crowded, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The steps were beautifully lit, creating a peaceful and romantic atmosphere far from the busy daytime scenes. It was the perfect time to take a quiet stroll, sit for a while, and admire the stunning architecture of the Trinità dei Monti church above and the charming Piazza di Spagna below. The view of the city lights in the distance added to the charm. I quickly realized how out of shape I was however. This is quite the climb. Everything was amazing however I ranked at a four because realistically its steps, there are a lot of amazing attractions and incredible architecture throughout the city. If you're in Rome, I do highly recommend visiting the Spanish Steps after dark—you get to enjoy one of the city's most iconic spots in a much more relaxed and intimate setting.
David — Google review
Magnificent piece of architecture. It has a great view from behind the pond. Try to go early in the day (before 7am) and you will find perfect views for pictures and to appreciate the beauty. Tourists necessarily sitting on the stairs just spoil the view. Dear tourists, once you have seen the view, please step aside and let others view and enjoy as well. On any time it is crowded but still manageable.
Adeel M — Google review
So many movie shooting happened here, so when we reached the place, we were super excited. The staircase is wise and there were a huge crowd. But some police officers were there to maintain the crowd in a peaceful manner. You can visit the steps from either bottom or from the top as there are road on each side. We entered from the bottom and climbed all the way to the top. Took tons of photos like the other tourists. At the very top there is a church and some flower shops nearby. There are some seating option at the top so you can take some rest as well, in case you are exhausted. Over all very nice and iconic place to spend some quality time. Highly recommended to visit. Specially during sunset.
Sankha G — Google review
I am amazed with the beauty of the place. People are chilling on the stairs. The Spanish Steps or Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti in Italian are more than just a magnificent staircase; they are an iconic symbol of Roman glamour, a masterpiece of Baroque urban design, and a vibrant cultural hub that has captivated artists, poets, and travelers for centuries. Connecting the bustling Piazza di Spagna at the base with the Trinità dei Monti church perched majestically at the top, this monumental cascade of travertine stone offers a quintessential Roman experience❤️🫰💯

Very nice area of Rome, but even in November thousands and thousands of tourist minute by minute . Architecture of area is incredible nice , unforgettable moments. One of the place you have to see , if you are in Rome , but my advice is go early and near to the place is Fontana di Trevi so as earlier you go the better.

Italian restaurant
Roscioli Salumeria con Cucina is a bustling destination in Rome that offers an array of culinary delights. It transforms from a deli to an A-list restaurant during mealtime, with tables set against the cheese counter and a selection of remarkable Italian and foreign wines. The menu features exceptional dishes such as the renowned carbonara and delightful burrata, along with local and Spanish cured pork, and Cecina de Leon.
My partner and I enjoyed a truly delicious meal featuring Cacio e Pepe - a simple yet exquisite pasta dish with the perfect harmony of cheese and pepper. Alongside it, we were served a selection of fresh breads that complemented the flavours. The restaurant’s location adds a distinctive charm to the overall experience, and it’s clearly a favourite among diners. I’d recommend booking well in advance. Despite the busy atmosphere, our waiter was exceptionally friendly and attentive. Service was prompt, yet never rushed, which made the evening feel relaxed and well-paced. To finish, I had ice cream while my partner opted for a meringue cake. We were also treated to a few biscuits with rich chocolate sauce for dipping. It was a delightful and indulgent end to a memorable meal.
Rebecca P — Google review
I first came here over ten years ago and recall the food and service being good, so I decided to take my wife here for lunch during our recent visit to Rome. Unfortunately, the restaurant has changed quite a bit, and not for the better. We arrived a little early and were told by a lady with a clipboard that we needed to wait outside until our reservation before being seated. What followed was a roll call of sorts where we were treated as though we were being granted entry to some sort of exclusive nightclub. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and the walls are adorned with all sorts of wines and spirits. It’s a little cramped inside, but that’s part of the charm, I suppose. Unfortunately, the food itself didn’t live up to the slightly pretentious air of the place. While it was decent enough, it certainly wasn’t worth the price, as we spent over 40 euros a head for a couple of small starters and two bowls of pasta. My tagliatelle ragu was dressed with an excessive amount of pecorino romano which overpowered the flavour of the sauce. The restaurant could save money on ingredients and improve the taste of the pasta by using it more sparingly in future. The tiramisu was also fine, but nothing special. Overall, this place simply isn’t worth the money. In the evening, we went to Kung Fu Express for dinner and the food was half the price and twice as good.

It was hands down the best of the best from this entire trip. If you’re in Rome, this place is an absolute must-go! The Parma ham I had here was honestly the best thing I ate during my whole vacation — truly unforgettable. The wine list and every single dish were just amazing, absolutely mind-blowing. The place is always busy and full of energy, and the servers are constantly on the move, but that’s part of its charm. I’ll definitely be coming back multiple times next time I’m in Rome. The food here is something I’ll never forget! It just became my and hubby’s fav restaurant in the world💛

The food was amazing and the menu had so much variety. The charcuterie selection was super rich, and the new-season olive oil was incredible. Paola recommended the olive oil to us, and it was so good that we ended up buying a bottle after our meal. But honestly, the best part of the whole experience was Paola herself. Her energy, communication, and positivity were the true highlight of our dinner. Her historical explanation about the pork cheek made the dish even more meaningful. We’re really happy we got to meet her. A restaurant we absolutely recommend and one we’ll definitely come back to.
Ecem N — Google review
Food is pretty good, albeit completely overpriced. My carbonara came out cold, with almost no sauce. The tripe and foie gras was good, as well as the prosciutto and tiramisu. Service was a mixed bag, our waiter told us there is no gluten free bread even though there was and we had to ask someone else to get it. Also, if you get seated at the counter clients will come in and order stuff to go over your table which is a bit weird.
Jernej B — Google review
Our second visit , the carppacio is unreal and to sit in a working deli is fantastic the staff were great. I actually had to go to a bank for a tip as I felt awful they couldn't take a tip on the card. They don't need this review as they were sold out on a Wednesday night . Fantastic food great wine served by lovely people.

Defenetly did not disappoint 😊 !!! I want to believe that when someone want to try the new Italian Taste - at this place they must go. Prices are a bit higher in balance with what they offer in quality. Atmosphere is fantastic. The lady which explained us the food obviously well trained. A joyful place !!

Deee-licious! The menu is large to the point of being overwhelming, but high-quality ingredient sourcing defines the restaurant. Everything we ordered was excellent, but particular highlights were the Parma ham tasting, the carbonara and the amberjack tartare. I wish we had more people with us so we could've tried more dishes.

Armando al Pantheon is a long-standing restaurant in the Pigna neighborhood, just a few steps from Piazza Navona. It offers hearty, traditional Roman fare in a wood-paneled dining room. The restaurant provides an unforgettable outdoor dining experience with the iconic Pantheon as a backdrop. Chef Claudio Gargioli's unique culinary creations add clever twists to honest classics, making it an exciting destination for food enthusiasts.
100% worth securing a reservation 1 month in advance. The food was incredible and service was top-notch. I took one bite of their veal special they were offering that night and it took me back to my Grandparents kitchen. Highly recommend this spot for dinner. Also worth mentioning: they received a Michelin Star back in 2017!
Joey F — Google review
We have been trying to get a table at Armando’s for several years on every trip to Rome. This year we finally managed to get a reservation and albeit it was for a late time - 10:00PM - we were excited to be able to finally taste the food at this famed restaurant. Upon entering we were warmly greeted and sat at our table and quickly serviced by our waiter. We started our meal off with the appetizer of the day which was lamp organs with sautéed chicory and served on a fresh bun. It was nicely presented and tasted delicious. Off to a good start. For our main course we ordered the Roman traditional Rigatoni all’amatriciana (my wife’s favorite) and for my self the daily special which was a cooked veal dish plus a couple sides. When the food arrived it looked nicely prepared but unfortunately with the very first bite disappointment struck. My veal dish was way overcooked which made the meat very dry. So much so that the flavor and moisture of the sauce and the ricotta got lost in it. While my wife enjoyed her dish, having taken a few bites of her pasta I also found the Guanciale to be over fried and charred (my wife likes it that way) leaving a bitter taste. The side dishes were good however. Nevertheless, I had high expectations for this place based on what I have heard from friends and read in reviews and felt let down despite the good parts. The mistakes made were too big and essential. Knowing that I likely won’t be able to revisit to give it another shot I’m left feeling cheated out of an experience that should have been one of the highlights from this trip. It is worth noting: We had a group of friends that had been able to secure a lunch table a couple days later. We recommended to stick to their staple dishes like Carbonara and the Osso Buco. They shared with us afterwards that the meal and overall experience was great. I hope to revisit the place in the future and to be able to share a better review next time around.

Terrific restaurant right next to the Pantheon. It is very popular so you must make a reservation when the date become available 1 month in advance. A kine forms outside before it opens but people with reservations are seated first so dont worry if you are way down the line. The restaurant is very nice inside and quiet which was great. The service was great. Everyone was so friendly and helpful with suggestions. The food was very good as well as the local Chianti. We had Lambs heart, liver and lung on a roll, grilled lamb shanks and rigatoni alla amatriciana.

We had a great meal, right by the Pantheon. I've wanted to try "coratella" (lambs liver, heart etc) and Armando's has a take on this Roman classic that serves it in a bun with spicy chicory. It was delicious. I ordered one of their version of the four Roman pasta dishes, the carbonara - it was creamy, rich, with chunky, salty & crunchy pork cheek and fresh spaghetti that was chewy and very moorish. Lovely room, like an art gallery, and very helpful staff. Recommended, but remember that booking is essential.

We were looking forward to our reservation at this restaurant (reservations definitely necessary if possible). We ultimately tried just two dishes. The pasta itself was very well done, however the sauce was not very flavourful. The Roman lamb (abbachio allo scottadito) was fantastic though - definitely recommend. The food and drinks are all quite pricey (as you might imagine in central Rome) in addition to service and water charges.

We were very lucky that the waiter made a plan for us without having a reservation, as this is must. And then we tasted the best carbonara ever, and the house wine and prosecco was just special and amazing. Traditional Roman menu! Everything was tasty and delicious. And the staff just friendly and really great service.

Fabulous restaurant next to the Pantheon (obviously). MUST reserve a month ahead exactly. Strangely when we arrived there was a sign saying "fully booked" but restaurant was not full. They must know their limits and cook amazing food for a limited crowd. I would not choose outdoor seating which requires an email. The atmosphere inside is lovely. Outside is a little chaotic. Best Rigatoni all' Amatriciana we had in Rome, period. Crispy guanciale, perfectly toothy rigatoni. Carbonara and cacio e Pepe also both perfection. Our appetizers were lovely, a tomato bread with bufala mozzarella, and anchovies over cooked greens. Amazing wine at a reasonable price recommended by the sommelier. Wish we could go back. Just outstanding.

Aggressive service and shocking behavior - Read before you go. I arrived here following several recommendations, despite the location being known as a tourist trap. Unfortunately, it was a huge mistake. First, the dinner menu is different from lunch, so the Cacio e Pepe was not available. We decided to stay anyway and ordered Bruschetta (which was mediocre) and Pasta Arrabbiata. The pasta was extremely spicy yet somehow watery and bland. The real issue, however, was the shocking service. When we asked for the bill and questioned why we were being charged for a dish we clearly didn't enjoy, the waiter completely lost his temper. Unbelievably, he actually tasted our dish right there at the table to "prove" it was good! When I told him that taste is subjective, he sat down next to us, started raising his voice, and spoke in a completely unacceptable manner. We paid the full bill, but I made sure to tell him that respect for customers is mandatory. Instead of listening, he was rude, dismissive ("everyone else likes it"), and at one point even put his hands on me. I strongly recommend staying away from this place—not just because of the food, but because of the aggressive and unprofessional treatment.

Trattoria Da Enzo al 29 is a charming, family-run eatery tucked away in Trastevere, serving up traditional Roman dishes with a focus on exceptional ingredients. The restaurant has been in the hands of the di Felice family since the 1980s, and they continue to uphold its long-standing reputation for fantastic Roman cuisine.
My first meal in Rome!! Very pleasant! Loveeddd the carbonara and the oysters were really juicy and tasty! The waiter though couldn't help us much on the menu and wasn't the fastest, and the place was old fashioned so it was quite small haha! If you like a very friendly experienced with good food don't forget to visit it!

A must if you are not from Rome. No reservations, therefore I suggest to come from 40 to 1 hour before it opens. We waited 40 mins but it was worthy! One of the most traditional restaurants I’ve tried (I am Italian) with my wife (Dutch). We both loved it. Don’t miss the Tiramisu, it is delicious! For two people, one appetizer, two main plates and dessert, around 30€ per person. More than fair! I recommend this place.

This is was our best meal in Rome. The wait IS worth it. The staff makes you feel like you’re at home. Antonio brought a chair out for my mom to sit while we waited. Roberto opened up the priceless Bianca Parmigiano Reggiano for the restaurant to taste. Our waiter brought us a sample of an appetizer to try. It’s a very special place.

Delicious food! The line is insanely long but worth it. It may take up to 1 hour waiting in line to be seated. I did the line 2 times (30-45 min wait) and was totally worth it. Will visit again, food is delicious. Any dish is good, try the Tiramisu for dessert.

This was one of our best meals in Rome, with the perfect pasta and choice of courses. The staff was very kind starting from us joining the queue. Waiting time was less than 10 minutes shortly after 2 PM before afternoon closing. The cuisine was simply perfect and enjoyed good house wine crowning with the best tiramisu of our trip. This will be my best recommendation for friends and family traveling to Rome.

From the moment we walked in, it felt like we were intruding rather than dining. The staff seemed laser-focused on American tourists—offering them warm greetings, detailed explanations, and cheerful recommendations—while barely acknowledging our presence. We got no menu guidance, no suggestions, not even basic courtesy. It genuinely felt like our being there was a burden. And it wasn’t just us. Other tables around us sat waiting with the same frustrated expressions—ignored, delayed, and packed into a cramped space where getting a server’s attention was nearly impossible. With zero help from the staff, ordering felt like guesswork, and the food unfortunately tasted just as uninspired as the service felt. Nothing stood out, nothing tasted particularly fresh, and nothing came close to justifying the attitude or the price. If you enjoy feeling invisible, waiting endlessly, and being squeezed into a tight room while others get preferential treatment, this is the spot. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and choose literally any other restaurant in Trastevere—you’ll have a far better experience.

Beautiful food and worth the wait. We had two of their specials as starters (the burrata with tomatoes and the boiled artichoke with garlic, etc.), as well as their lamb chops with fries and tiramisu. Everything was very nice, but the starters were amazing!
Jana R — Google review
Amazing! Loved the food! We got the bread with balsamic and the fried artichoke! We also got the carbonara and the amatriciana. The pasta was fresh and the sauces were so flavorful! We enjoyed every bite! We did get there about an hour early and the line was long but they got a lot of people in during the first round. Was definitely worth it and I would totally go back.

Trattoria Da Cesare al Casaletto is a charming spot located in the residential Monteverde area of Rome. This trattoria embodies the true essence of Italian dining with its unpretentious atmosphere and authentic, carefully crafted dishes. Run by the husband-wife team of Leonardo Vignoli and Maria Pia Cicconi, this place offers a delightful array of Roman antipasti, homemade pastas, meat and fish dishes, complemented by a selection of local wines.
Soo good, we came for dinner on a recommendation and it was delicious! Book one week in advance via their website. Everything was so good; we had fresh homemade mozzarella, fried meatballs with pesto, carbonara and oxtail sauce pasta, and tiramisu and panna cotta for dessert! Highly recommend :)

We finally made it to Trattoria Da Cesare al Casaletto for a long-awaited Sunday lunch after dreaming about it for a year. This place is a true Roman institution, run like a well-oiled machine, with a lively, family-filled atmosphere that feels authentic and welcoming. The wine list is excellent—we especially loved our exquisite bottle of Etna Bianco. We enjoyed the supplì, squash blossoms, gricia, and ravioli, each dish showcasing the comforting flavors of Roman cooking. Watching families with babies gather around big Sunday meals added to the charm of the experience. Overall, a solid and memorable Roman lunch—classic, reliable, and full of energy.

Had a nice dinner here though my expectations were very high as the restaurant has excellent reviews, unfortunately I was a little let down. Actually it was rather nice to travel outside the city center, Cesare is extremely close to the final stop of the 8 tram and you get to see much more of the city and where people live coming here. Dinner started with a very nice basket of bread and we shared the eggplant croquettes and calamari fritti. The croquettes were interesting, with a nice spicy tomato sauce offset with mint. The calamari were outstanding, extremely well done. For our mains, I had the gnocchi with oxtail sugo which was really disappointing. The sauce was deep and delicious, and the gnocchi very well made however totally under salted. I wonder if they are used to salting this dish with pasta water when the rigatoni is selected? I needed to add cheese AND salt just to coax some flavor. I do like salty, though. My companions had Amitriciana and Gricia. Both were very good however an alarming amount of guanciale was used in the gricia and my companion said that is was too much and the balance of the dish was off because of it. We were a bit put off by the waiters constantly trying to remove our dishes. Like, fork still in hand and BOOM can I take your plate now? Then you have to wait 15 minutes for the bill haha. Well no one is perfect for sure. Overall it was a good experience and I’m happy we went and wish them many years of success!

Our main dishes of the evening were rigatoni alla Matriciana (that’s how it was spelled), gnocchi alla coda vaccinara and tonnarelli a la gricia. These were delicious with noted qualifications that the guanciale pieces with the tonnarelli were judged too large (!), the gnocchi were assessed under-salted while the coda vaccinara sauce seemed a little thin, and my serving of rigatoni was enormous (no complaint there). Read more at: https://www.painperdutravel.com It was a very successful evening and an excellent meal for 3 at only 81 euros.

The Heart of Roman Trattoria Dining Overall Rating: 4/5 Stars Stepping into Da Cesare al Casaletto felt like stepping into the quintessential Roman experience. This is more than just a restaurant; it is a living, breathing trattoria with a typical Roman spirit that envelops. The Authentic Experience: The menu is a showcase of typical Roman dishes—the classics like Cacio e Pepe, Amatriciana, Gricia are all executed to almost perfection. Every plate arrives hot, bursting with authentic flavor, and prepared with a dedication to tradition that will truly satisfy every palate. Adding to the wonderful authenticity, the staff is staff is nice, warm, attentive, and helpful. Wine & Verdict: Beyond the food, the wine list is excellent. It is extensive, thoughtfully curated, and focuses on quality, value, and artisanal/natural wines, offering great pairings for the hearty Roman cuisine. While one can certainly find more expensive restaurants of comparable food quality in Rome, Da Cesare al Casaletto offers a combination of authenticity, traditional food, an excellent wine selection. If you are in the area, this place indeed deserves a visit. It is a genuine taste of Rome that you will not forget. Assolutamente fantastico!

We booked for Sunday lunch and came hungry so we could try two courses! The restaurant has a neighborhood vibe and was packed with locals enjoying the food. My meal was great - fried gnocchi with cheese and pepper was a great start, crisp and crunchy Ina cheesy sauce. Then rigatoni pasta with an fresh tomato Amatriciana sauce, again perfect pasta, perfect sauce. Then my veal steak - seared to perfection, juicy, lemony, soft, meaty and a perfect end to the meal. I wish I'd had more room for dessert as the ones I saw looked beautiful! Recommended for a real family restaurant experience with great food.

Wonderful ppace with great food and service. We had the pizza rossa, veal roll and seafood pasta, finished with the desert selection. Best food I've had in Rome. Very friendly staff, they made smaller portions of the fried gnocchi and beef croquettas for us to try; both well made.

SantoPalato is a humble restaurant in Rome that offers local staples such as pasta, meat plates, and desserts. It is known for its innovative take on traditional Roman classics, blending the soul of a traditional trattoria with a touch of hipster flair. Chef Sara Cicolini leads the kitchen, showcasing Rome's storied quinto quarto cuisine with an offal-heavy menu alongside well-executed favorites like carbonara and amatriciana.
Best to make a reservation, even weekday lunch sittings are fully booked, but there is a social table with 8 seats for walk in diners. We arrived at 12:30 when it opened and got seats but many people were turned away. Food is elegantly prepared with new and traditional tastes. The pork neck was perfectly cooked and tender with a tasty crust. Simply delicious. Although a fan favorite, I found the oxtail meatball to be too heavy and salty. The accompanying sauce was thick and nutty, not a good match for such a dense dish. I wish they served it with a tangy sauce or some crunchy or fresh element. Service was brisk and attentive. Really nice staff. This is an excellent place to dine if you want to get away from the tourist traps in Rome, it’s not far from the Coleseum but requires an Uber ride.

A fresh and modern take on local cuisine, with a focus on simple but very high quality ingredients. Vegetable dishes were a highlight of the evening. Do not miss the Melanzana or Polpetta Cod alla Vaccinara. The Carbonara was rich and creamy with nicely crisp guanciale, though the pasta a little al dente for most people. For dessert the Tiramisu is nice but the Maritozzo wins. Service is fine, not overly friendly but nothing to complain about. Must book far in advance. Not necessarily mind blowing but worth trying once if you can get a table.

Is it possible to give more stars? Not just the best meal we could have had in Rome but one of the best meals, we have ever had. The appetizer was inventive and savory, phenomenal. The pasta amatriciana was so rich, with an unlivable flavor. Both of our main courses were stellar, hands down the best pork I have tasted with a delicate sauce. Even the desserts were out of this world. On par with any Michelin stared restaurant. I would not be surprised if they get one. They even called a cab for us, a real help for some American tourists.

Absolutely fantastic! We tried the carbonara and it was incredibly creamy and perfectly made, one of the best we’ve ever had. They also had a great selection of local beers, which paired so well with the meal. Cozy place, delicious food, and a really nice atmosphere. We left full and happy!

Top food, nice decor and great staff. Prices are very fair. Wine list is very extensive. Better if you're a fan of offal but they also do serve other things. Will be back.

Fabulous restaurant! Fantastic dishes- absolutely outstanding pastas- light and flavorful! You can eat 5-6 courses and still feel light while experiencing some of the best Roman cuisine in the city! Highly recommended! A must try!

I came here twice during my Rome stay and tried different plates. The quality is high and food is delicious overall. Unfortunately, the meat I got was quite chewy - you’d expect a bit better, I basically had to swallow the entire pieces as they just wouldn’t break up. All the other dishes were highly satisfying and reasonably priced. In particular, the salad with Barattiere cucumber and the carbonara were phenomenal.

We had a good feeling about this place before we even went in, but we were blown away by the food! The atmosphere inside is lively and fun, with nice decor. The special pasta we had (with goat ragu) was fantastic. The beef picanha was absolutely exquisite, 10/10. The beignet for dessert was also very special! Highly recommend. Wasn't too busy at opening time (7:30pm) but quickly filled up. Recommend booking.
