Roscioli Salumeria con Cucina is a bustling destination in Rome that offers an array of culinary delights. It transforms from a deli to an A-list restaurant during mealtime, with tables set against the cheese counter and a selection of remarkable Italian and foreign wines. The menu features exceptional dishes such as the renowned carbonara and delightful burrata, along with local and Spanish cured pork, and Cecina de Leon.
My partner and I enjoyed a truly delicious meal featuring Cacio e Pepe - a simple yet exquisite pasta dish with the perfect harmony of cheese and pepper. Alongside it, we were served a selection of fresh breads that complemented the flavours. The restaurant’s location adds a distinctive charm to the overall experience, and it’s clearly a favourite among diners. I’d recommend booking well in advance. Despite the busy atmosphere, our waiter was exceptionally friendly and attentive. Service was prompt, yet never rushed, which made the evening feel relaxed and well-paced. To finish, I had ice cream while my partner opted for a meringue cake. We were also treated to a few biscuits with rich chocolate sauce for dipping. It was a delightful and indulgent end to a memorable meal.

I first came here over ten years ago and recall the food and service being good, so I decided to take my wife here for lunch during our recent visit to Rome. Unfortunately, the restaurant has changed quite a bit, and not for the better. We arrived a little early and were told by a lady with a clipboard that we needed to wait outside until our reservation before being seated. What followed was a roll call of sorts where we were treated as though we were being granted entry to some sort of exclusive nightclub. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and the walls are adorned with all sorts of wines and spirits. It’s a little cramped inside, but that’s part of the charm, I suppose. Unfortunately, the food itself didn’t live up to the slightly pretentious air of the place. While it was decent enough, it certainly wasn’t worth the price, as we spent over 40 euros a head for a couple of small starters and two bowls of pasta. My tagliatelle ragu was dressed with an excessive amount of pecorino romano which overpowered the flavour of the sauce. The restaurant could save money on ingredients and improve the taste of the pasta by using it more sparingly in future. The tiramisu was also fine, but nothing special. Overall, this place simply isn’t worth the money. In the evening, we went to Kung Fu Express for dinner and the food was half the price and twice as good.

Highly recommend to experience proper Italian and Roman food. Entertaining to sit by the counter too and watch the chefs prepare the platters. Trippa and pasta dishes were perfect! Staff was extremely helpful and suggested and explained everything to us! Best to book in advance though as it’s very popular for obvious reasons.

It was hands down the best of the best from this entire trip. If you’re in Rome, this place is an absolute must-go! The Parma ham I had here was honestly the best thing I ate during my whole vacation — truly unforgettable. The wine list and every single dish were just amazing, absolutely mind-blowing. The place is always busy and full of energy, and the servers are constantly on the move, but that’s part of its charm. I’ll definitely be coming back multiple times next time I’m in Rome. The food here is something I’ll never forget! It just became my and hubby’s fav restaurant in the world💛
April — Google review
Food is pretty good, albeit completely overpriced. My carbonara came out cold, with almost no sauce. The tripe and foie gras was good, as well as the prosciutto and tiramisu. Service was a mixed bag, our waiter told us there is no gluten free bread even though there was and we had to ask someone else to get it. Also, if you get seated at the counter clients will come in and order stuff to go over your table which is a bit weird.
Jernej B — Google review
This place is incredible! The atmosphere, the food and the staff make for an unforgettable night out. We were a group of 8 people (adults and teenagers) and sat in the downstairs room. Fabio, our waiter, was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and made the whole experience a wonderful night out. You need to book well in advance to secure a table - it is well worth a visit and their sister store is the place to visit for pastries / lunch.
Emma T — Google review
An Italian friend recommended this, saying it was the best carbonara she’d ever had. And she wasn’t wrong. We had reservations for 2.30pm - the only slot they had! - but we got there about 1pm and the lady at the door very kindly seated us. The service was brilliant, with recommendations for wine from the lovely waiter (who even let me try out my rubbish Italian with him) and lovely little complimentary touches like a savoury amuse bouche and teeny churros with chocolate sauce. This was the highlight of our trip to Rome but you will need to book - and well in advance!

Make resys 3 months in advance. It's worth it! The service is great, the food is top notch. Prices are extremely reasonable. We ordered a couple of things we normally would not get because, well... when in Rome! There was 4 of us, we had 2 apps, 4 entrees, 1 dessert and 6 drinks, the bill was 244€. This was our 2nd visit and we are coming back before we head home. The oxtail stuffed zucchini flowers were the stand out favorite of the whole table. 10/10.

Trattoria Da Cesare al Casaletto is a charming spot located in the residential Monteverde area of Rome. This trattoria embodies the true essence of Italian dining with its unpretentious atmosphere and authentic, carefully crafted dishes. Run by the husband-wife team of Leonardo Vignoli and Maria Pia Cicconi, this place offers a delightful array of Roman antipasti, homemade pastas, meat and fish dishes, complemented by a selection of local wines.
The food is Roman style and the quality of the food it’s good. maybe the place it’s a bit noisy and owner should fix the acoustic. But this is bearable. We had a nice evening between old school friend and the environment it’s ok for such occasion. It’s second time we come here and not dissatisfied

Soo good, we came for dinner on a recommendation and it was delicious! Book one week in advance via their website. Everything was so good; we had fresh homemade mozzarella, fried meatballs with pesto, carbonara and oxtail sauce pasta, and tiramisu and panna cotta for dessert! Highly recommend :)

We finally made it to Trattoria Da Cesare al Casaletto for a long-awaited Sunday lunch after dreaming about it for a year. This place is a true Roman institution, run like a well-oiled machine, with a lively, family-filled atmosphere that feels authentic and welcoming. The wine list is excellent—we especially loved our exquisite bottle of Etna Bianco. We enjoyed the supplì, squash blossoms, gricia, and ravioli, each dish showcasing the comforting flavors of Roman cooking. Watching families with babies gather around big Sunday meals added to the charm of the experience. Overall, a solid and memorable Roman lunch—classic, reliable, and full of energy.

Had a nice dinner here though my expectations were very high as the restaurant has excellent reviews, unfortunately I was a little let down. Actually it was rather nice to travel outside the city center, Cesare is extremely close to the final stop of the 8 tram and you get to see much more of the city and where people live coming here. Dinner started with a very nice basket of bread and we shared the eggplant croquettes and calamari fritti. The croquettes were interesting, with a nice spicy tomato sauce offset with mint. The calamari were outstanding, extremely well done. For our mains, I had the gnocchi with oxtail sugo which was really disappointing. The sauce was deep and delicious, and the gnocchi very well made however totally under salted. I wonder if they are used to salting this dish with pasta water when the rigatoni is selected? I needed to add cheese AND salt just to coax some flavor. I do like salty, though. My companions had Amitriciana and Gricia. Both were very good however an alarming amount of guanciale was used in the gricia and my companion said that is was too much and the balance of the dish was off because of it. We were a bit put off by the waiters constantly trying to remove our dishes. Like, fork still in hand and BOOM can I take your plate now? Then you have to wait 15 minutes for the bill haha. Well no one is perfect for sure. Overall it was a good experience and I’m happy we went and wish them many years of success!
Matthew P — Google review
Our main dishes of the evening were rigatoni alla Matriciana (that’s how it was spelled), gnocchi alla coda vaccinara and tonnarelli a la gricia. These were delicious with noted qualifications that the guanciale pieces with the tonnarelli were judged too large (!), the gnocchi were assessed under-salted while the coda vaccinara sauce seemed a little thin, and my serving of rigatoni was enormous (no complaint there). Read more at: https://www.painperdutravel.com It was a very successful evening and an excellent meal for 3 at only 81 euros.

The Heart of Roman Trattoria Dining Overall Rating: 4/5 Stars Stepping into Da Cesare al Casaletto felt like stepping into the quintessential Roman experience. This is more than just a restaurant; it is a living, breathing trattoria with a typical Roman spirit that envelops. The Authentic Experience: The menu is a showcase of typical Roman dishes—the classics like Cacio e Pepe, Amatriciana, Gricia are all executed to almost perfection. Every plate arrives hot, bursting with authentic flavor, and prepared with a dedication to tradition that will truly satisfy every palate. Adding to the wonderful authenticity, the staff is staff is nice, warm, attentive, and helpful. Wine & Verdict: Beyond the food, the wine list is excellent. It is extensive, thoughtfully curated, and focuses on quality, value, and artisanal/natural wines, offering great pairings for the hearty Roman cuisine. While one can certainly find more expensive restaurants of comparable food quality in Rome, Da Cesare al Casaletto offers a combination of authenticity, traditional food, an excellent wine selection. If you are in the area, this place indeed deserves a visit. It is a genuine taste of Rome that you will not forget. Assolutamente fantastico!

The carbonara is absolutely amazing!!! It’s so creamy! The tonnarelli ai frutti di mare also very delicious, it tastes so fresh! 100% recommen!!

Wonderful ppace with great food and service. We had the pizza rossa, veal roll and seafood pasta, finished with the desert selection. Best food I've had in Rome. Very friendly staff, they made smaller portions of the fried gnocchi and beef croquettas for us to try; both well made.

Restaurant
Armando al Pantheon is a long-standing restaurant in the Pigna neighborhood, just a few steps from Piazza Navona. It offers hearty, traditional Roman fare in a wood-paneled dining room. The restaurant provides an unforgettable outdoor dining experience with the iconic Pantheon as a backdrop. Chef Claudio Gargioli's unique culinary creations add clever twists to honest classics, making it an exciting destination for food enthusiasts.
100% worth securing a reservation 1 month in advance. The food was incredible and service was top-notch. I took one bite of their veal special they were offering that night and it took me back to my Grandparents kitchen. Highly recommend this spot for dinner. Also worth mentioning: they received a Michelin Star back in 2017!
Joey F — Google review
We have been trying to get a table at Armando’s for several years on every trip to Rome. This year we finally managed to get a reservation and albeit it was for a late time - 10:00PM - we were excited to be able to finally taste the food at this famed restaurant. Upon entering we were warmly greeted and sat at our table and quickly serviced by our waiter. We started our meal off with the appetizer of the day which was lamp organs with sautéed chicory and served on a fresh bun. It was nicely presented and tasted delicious. Off to a good start. For our main course we ordered the Roman traditional Rigatoni all’amatriciana (my wife’s favorite) and for my self the daily special which was a cooked veal dish plus a couple sides. When the food arrived it looked nicely prepared but unfortunately with the very first bite disappointment struck. My veal dish was way overcooked which made the meat very dry. So much so that the flavor and moisture of the sauce and the ricotta got lost in it. While my wife enjoyed her dish, having taken a few bites of her pasta I also found the Guanciale to be over fried and charred (my wife likes it that way) leaving a bitter taste. The side dishes were good however. Nevertheless, I had high expectations for this place based on what I have heard from friends and read in reviews and felt let down despite the good parts. The mistakes made were too big and essential. Knowing that I likely won’t be able to revisit to give it another shot I’m left feeling cheated out of an experience that should have been one of the highlights from this trip. It is worth noting: We had a group of friends that had been able to secure a lunch table a couple days later. We recommended to stick to their staple dishes like Carbonara and the Osso Buco. They shared with us afterwards that the meal and overall experience was great. I hope to revisit the place in the future and to be able to share a better review next time around.

Terrific restaurant right next to the Pantheon. It is very popular so you must make a reservation when the date become available 1 month in advance. A kine forms outside before it opens but people with reservations are seated first so dont worry if you are way down the line. The restaurant is very nice inside and quiet which was great. The service was great. Everyone was so friendly and helpful with suggestions. The food was very good as well as the local Chianti. We had Lambs heart, liver and lung on a roll, grilled lamb shanks and rigatoni alla amatriciana.
Robert U — Google review
We were looking forward to our reservation at this restaurant (reservations definitely necessary if possible). We ultimately tried just two dishes. The pasta itself was very well done, however the sauce was not very flavourful. The Roman lamb (abbachio allo scottadito) was fantastic though - definitely recommend. The food and drinks are all quite pricey (as you might imagine in central Rome) in addition to service and water charges.
Mike B — Google review
We were very lucky that the waiter made a plan for us without having a reservation, as this is must. And then we tasted the best carbonara ever, and the house wine and prosecco was just special and amazing. Traditional Roman menu! Everything was tasty and delicious. And the staff just friendly and really great service.
Ronwyn M — Google review
Fabulous restaurant next to the Pantheon (obviously). MUST reserve a month ahead exactly. Strangely when we arrived there was a sign saying "fully booked" but restaurant was not full. They must know their limits and cook amazing food for a limited crowd. I would not choose outdoor seating which requires an email. The atmosphere inside is lovely. Outside is a little chaotic. Best Rigatoni all' Amatriciana we had in Rome, period. Crispy guanciale, perfectly toothy rigatoni. Carbonara and cacio e Pepe also both perfection. Our appetizers were lovely, a tomato bread with bufala mozzarella, and anchovies over cooked greens. Amazing wine at a reasonable price recommended by the sommelier. Wish we could go back. Just outstanding.
Dashiell E — Google review
I’d been wanting to try this restaurant ever since I saw it mentioned in several blogs and social media posts. There are two ways to eat here: either you book a table weeks in advance, or line up before the restaurant opens for lunch and hope there’s still a table left after the reservations. The second option is a bit risky — the line gets long, and not everyone gets in. The restaurant is right across from the Pantheon, with a simple decor. We ordered two classics: rigatoni all’amatriciana and carbonara, paired with two glasses of red wine (one full-bodied, one medium-bodied). The guanciale in the amatriciana was crispy and served in larger pieces, though the dish itself was a bit on the salty side. The carbonara had a creamy, well-balanced sauce. Overall, the pasta was delicious — maybe not the absolute best we’ve had, but definitely worth trying. Service is quite slow, so be patient — our dishes took about 40 minutes to arrive.
Deniz Y — Google review
I saw the restaurant on Stanley Tucci's TV show. Booking a table was challenging due to the popularity of the place. I finally got a table for lunch. The place was cozy and the service was good. The wine and amatriciana were really good. I definitely recommend the place!

Ristorante La Tavernaccia Da Bruno is a cozy tavern that has been serving homestyle pasta and Roman meat dishes since 1968. The restaurant, now run by Bruno Persiani's daughters Patrizia and Paola, offers a hand-written menu featuring generous pasta dishes and delights from the wood-fired oven, including lamb, suckling pig, roast pork, and delicious house focaccia. It's recommended to make reservations well in advance as tables are often scarce, especially on Sundays.
Excellent dinner! I had the burrata, the side salad and the lasagna — and it was just A+, 11/10. If I lived in Rome I’d be a regular here; if I could give more than five stars, I would :) shoutout to Anna for her kind and attentive service. Hope to be back next time I’m here

Absolutely loved this restaurant. The staff were so helpful and took the time to explain the dishes to us. We had the suckling pig which was the nicest pork I've had. Desserts were homemade and well worth a try. Prices were very reasonable. You will need to book in advance if you want a guaranteed seat/team.

I only write reviews on places that people need to go to or completely avoid. This place, as you can tell by the stars, is a must go. The staff is multilingual and very kind. I felt comfortable using my limited Italian and they understood me when I couldn't. The food is excellent and well prepared. Everything is fresh and made to order. I can keep going on, but this is a review, not a novel. Come stay awhile in their welcoming Italian restaurant, and enjoy anything and everything on the menu. Don't forget the dessert wine. Saluti!

Great, fantastic, amazing food. Best italian dishes i ever had. Very nice and friendly environment , Multilingual service full of smiles . Kevin and Ernesto great service, Alice great hostess and amazing pastry chef . Totally recommended.

The servers were always smiley and willing to share recommendations and jokes with us. We ordered the bruschetta with artichokes, prosciutto, Cabonara, suckling pig. The above for 2 ppl, I guess it was not the usual portion but we went on to order 4 desserts. Best decision ever. Desserts were mainly made in house and it was SO GOOD. The chocolate cake was so decadent, lemon tart so basic yet fully brings out the flavour of the lemon without being overly sweet. The apple tart, subtle but not overly sweet. Best meal we had in Roma, most authentic Roman meal you can have. Try to ring them for reservation

The food was amazing. The octopus starter was delicious. We tried the rabbit and the pork - both were great. Really great service also.

We had a wonderful dinner at La Tavernaccia! We ordered a mix of cured meats and cheeses, Roman artichoke, eggplant parmigiana, roasted suckling pig, and the spaghettoni alla gricia. Every dish was delicious, but the spaghettoni stood out — rich, flavorful, and hands down the best pasta we had in Rome. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the service was attentive. A great spot for a traditional Roman meal with real heart. Highly recommend!

Restaurant
Trattoria Da Enzo al 29 is a charming, family-run eatery tucked away in Trastevere, serving up traditional Roman dishes with a focus on exceptional ingredients. The restaurant has been in the hands of the di Felice family since the 1980s, and they continue to uphold its long-standing reputation for fantastic Roman cuisine.
Overall, the experience here was exceptional—it’s the kind of place I’d gladly wait in line for. Highly recommend! ⭐️ Had the opportunity to eat here while in Trastevere as part of an award-winning food tour, and it absolutely lived up to the hype 👏 When our group arrived around 7:30 p.m., the line was already a few blocks long, which made sense once we saw what came out of the kitchen 👀 We were lucky enough to bypass the wait as part of the tour, but if visiting on your own, come prepared. During the busy tourist season (July through September), we noticed people waiting with portable fans, water bottles, and even to-go cocktails—pro tips I’d recommend for anyone braving the line 💪 The highlight for me was the burrata, and it was nothing short of incredible. For anyone unfamiliar, burrata is a fresh Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream—the outer shell is solid mozzarella, while the inside is filled with stracciatella and cream, giving it a luscious, buttery texture that practically melts in your mouth 🤤 Growing up in Iowa, I’ve always been a cheese lover (the kind of person who ate shredded cheese straight from the bag), but I also know some European cheeses can be an acquired taste for me. Even my husband—who usually doesn’t enjoy eating cheese on its own—was savoring every bite. That’s how good it was: fresh, rich, and balanced 👌 We also tried the fried cod croquettes, which were golden and crispy on the outside with tender, flavorful fish inside 🐠 I didn’t finish mine since fried breading isn’t always my preference, but others in our group went back for seconds, which speaks to how well they were prepared. Paired with the crisp, light prosecco flowing freely during the tasting, it was the perfect start to the evening 🍾 From what I gathered, they also have an impressive wine selection and a menu full of classic Roman dishes at prices that seem surprisingly reasonable given the quality and popularity 💥 What really put the experience over the top, though, was the service. Despite the rush and the never-ending line outside, the staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive. They took time with each table, explained the dishes, and made us feel like valued guests rather than just part of the crowd ☺️

A must if you are not from Rome. No reservations, therefore I suggest to come from 40 to 1 hour before it opens. We waited 40 mins but it was worthy! One of the most traditional restaurants I’ve tried (I am Italian) with my wife (Dutch). We both loved it. Don’t miss the Tiramisu, it is delicious! For two people, one appetizer, two main plates and dessert, around 30€ per person. More than fair! I recommend this place.

This is was our best meal in Rome. The wait IS worth it. The staff makes you feel like you’re at home. Antonio brought a chair out for my mom to sit while we waited. Roberto opened up the priceless Bianca Parmigiano Reggiano for the restaurant to taste. Our waiter brought us a sample of an appetizer to try. It’s a very special place.

Trattoria Da Enzo is justifiably famous for their excellent pasta carbonara, traditional Roman ambiance and history. The queueing is unavoidable and part of the experience. Arrive before they open at around 5.30pm to start queuing and you will likely wait around an hour. Being able to have drinks whilst in the queue is a nice touch! This is not the best carbonara I've ever had in 30+ years of coming to Rome almost every year, but it's very very good. The quality of the guanciale used is especially impressive and it is always cooked perfectly. The bread basket is an additional €2 which is to be expected at a restaurant that is now quite touristy but the quality of the bread is decent. The tiramisu is very good, and the coffee is, too. Just beware that they only do small, strong coffees, no cappuccinos or lattes.

Take this for what it is a classic Italian Trattoria! It’s busy, crowded and full of joy! Food is some of the best we have ever had. All from scratch excellent fresh ingredients from their own farms. Tiny tables, stand in line up and have a spritz while you wait!

This was one of our best meals in Rome, with the perfect pasta and choice of courses. The staff was very kind starting from us joining the queue. Waiting time was less than 10 minutes shortly after 2 PM before afternoon closing. The cuisine was simply perfect and enjoyed good house wine crowning with the best tiramisu of our trip. This will be my best recommendation for friends and family traveling to Rome.

Amazing! Loved the food! We got the bread with balsamic and the fried artichoke! We also got the carbonara and the amatriciana. The pasta was fresh and the sauces were so flavorful! We enjoyed every bite! We did get there about an hour early and the line was long but they got a lot of people in during the first round. Was definitely worth it and I would totally go back.
Jaylynn T — Google review
Worth the line (amazing Aperol Spritz served in line also helped). Excellent, authentic Roman food. The Carbonara and Amatriciana were top-tier, and Amatriciana was the best I've ever had for sure! Great atmosphere.

SantoPalato is a humble restaurant in Rome that offers local staples such as pasta, meat plates, and desserts. It is known for its innovative take on traditional Roman classics, blending the soul of a traditional trattoria with a touch of hipster flair. Chef Sara Cicolini leads the kitchen, showcasing Rome's storied quinto quarto cuisine with an offal-heavy menu alongside well-executed favorites like carbonara and amatriciana.
Best to make a reservation, even weekday lunch sittings are fully booked, but there is a social table with 8 seats for walk in diners. We arrived at 12:30 when it opened and got seats but many people were turned away. Food is elegantly prepared with new and traditional tastes. The pork neck was perfectly cooked and tender with a tasty crust. Simply delicious. Although a fan favorite, I found the oxtail meatball to be too heavy and salty. The accompanying sauce was thick and nutty, not a good match for such a dense dish. I wish they served it with a tangy sauce or some crunchy or fresh element. Service was brisk and attentive. Really nice staff. This is an excellent place to dine if you want to get away from the tourist traps in Rome, it’s not far from the Coleseum but requires an Uber ride.

A fresh and modern take on local cuisine, with a focus on simple but very high quality ingredients. Vegetable dishes were a highlight of the evening. Do not miss the Melanzana or Polpetta Cod alla Vaccinara. The Carbonara was rich and creamy with nicely crisp guanciale, though the pasta a little al dente for most people. For dessert the Tiramisu is nice but the Maritozzo wins. Service is fine, not overly friendly but nothing to complain about. Must book far in advance. Not necessarily mind blowing but worth trying once if you can get a table.

Absolutely fantastic! We tried the carbonara and it was incredibly creamy and perfectly made, one of the best we’ve ever had. They also had a great selection of local beers, which paired so well with the meal. Cozy place, delicious food, and a really nice atmosphere. We left full and happy!

Fabulous restaurant! Fantastic dishes- absolutely outstanding pastas- light and flavorful! You can eat 5-6 courses and still feel light while experiencing some of the best Roman cuisine in the city! Highly recommended! A must try!

I came here twice during my Rome stay and tried different plates. The quality is high and food is delicious overall. Unfortunately, the meat I got was quite chewy - you’d expect a bit better, I basically had to swallow the entire pieces as they just wouldn’t break up. All the other dishes were highly satisfying and reasonably priced. In particular, the salad with Barattiere cucumber and the carbonara were phenomenal.

We had a good feeling about this place before we even went in, but we were blown away by the food! The atmosphere inside is lively and fun, with nice decor. The special pasta we had (with goat ragu) was fantastic. The beef picanha was absolutely exquisite, 10/10. The beignet for dessert was also very special! Highly recommend. Wasn't too busy at opening time (7:30pm) but quickly filled up. Recommend booking.

A really wonderful experience. The delicious food is matched by the exceptionally warm front of house staff. Great wine list and by the glass choices. Pro tip : if you can’t get a reservation go early and try for the communal table. Worth it!!

Best Tiramisu we had, ever. We have tried plenty in Rome. I cannot recommend this place more. It is a bit outside the touristy spots in Rome, but it is so worth the trip. We ate the meatball, carbonara, and tiramisu and absolutely loved everything! The cocktail bar also looks very professional. The staff was super friendly and attentive. It's also really cool to watch the chefs cook behind the glass doors, and the amazing design overall inside the restaurants.

Trecca - Roma is a modern osteria that captures the essence of a young Roman restaurant with its spacious and inviting ambiance. The interior features traditional elements such as brown-tiled checkered floors, pendant lighting, marble-topped tables, and an ancient Roman terracotta sink.
Excellent Roman dishes. More interesting that standard fare. Great wine options.further out of the city but well worth the trip. An easy bus ride to the area. The main wait staff was excellent.

Hands down one of the best restaurants in Rome. It’s a bit off the beaten path which is great as you’re away from the tourist crowds (not that tourists are not welcome here!) and is a lot more peaceful. Website makes reservations quite accessible and you don’t have to stress about waiting in a queue for hours. The servers were great with excellent wine recommendations and were genuinely friendly. Everything we ordered was delicious and we would have easily come back for more if we were staying longer.

Wanted to come here since watching "Remarkable places to eat" a couple of years ago. Two of us dined for lunch while in Rome. Our appetisers and pasta dishes were very good and the Zabione desert tasted great, but the main dish of lamb was very disappointing. There was very little meat, it was mostly bone and fat. We left underwhelmed and disappointed considering the high price of our lunch.

The food was so so so delicious. We had lamb meatballs, chicken liver ragout pasta, and cabbage and potato gratin. The atmosphere was very welcoming, local spot, not many tourists, and a lovely staff. Their wine recommendation was also a perfect pairing with our food.

Amazing local spot, their pastas were amazing (Amatriciana, alla Gricoa). Loved their tomato sauce, so rich and flavorful. Trip was done very well in red sauce. Solid service, nice selection of natural wines too.

We were very lucky to have been seated at the “bar” spot right in front of the prep kitchen space. The owner greeted is and served us delicious clean natural wines all evening. The best al’amatriciana ive had in Rome hands down. The beef tripe dish is to die for, everything is extremely well made and very fair price for the quality. 10/10.

just a 15 min car ride outside of the city center is Trattoria Trecca, a restaurant I found after reading many food bloggers reviews, of the most to restaurants in Rome. If Rome wasnt magical enough, coming to Trecca felt like being invited to a Romans home to eat the dishes his grandma cooked, nothing pretentious, nothing fancy, just good Italian food. Diego made us feel like we were in his house, suggesting dishes, telling us about his favorite wine and giving us the best options to enjoy. Seeing us happy you can see how that made him happy and that connection for us was really special. You dont get to experience this anymore anywhere you go, people that love their work and want to share their food traditions with others. The starters of tomato and potato , simple but so delish at the same time, the pasta w mushrooms and olive oil was just like I envision a Nona making it, the bread was spectacular, the chicken, the meat fell of the bone effortlessly and the Pannacotta w caramel and Tiramisu were so fresh and the right amount of flavors. We left happy not only because of the food but because of the amazing service Diego gave us, the place itself is cozy and worth the trip.

Great food and great wine selection. One of the best carbonaras in Rome. Price is fair for what you get. The staff was very friendly, but a little bit disorganized (different waiters came to us asking for the same things). A strongly advisable place, only the service can be improved a little bit.

AMAZING PASTA! extremely fresh! You have to make reservations in advance or hope someone doesn’t come to their reservation. It was so delicious we were able to get a table for dinner and booked a table for lunch the next day. The service was incredible and the atmosphere was too loud but loud enough to feel like your conversation was private. I highly recommend the stuffed pasta in butter sauce!!

The best pasta restaurant in Rome. Hand made noodles and source too. Recipe is authentic like home made one. Better to reserve first or waiting in a line before opening time.
Bruce S — Google review
Very overrated place with bad ignorant service. I was served my dish while I was at the toilet washing my hands which weird for a Michelin place to say the least. Food was average (ravioli with spinach) while the desert was absolutely tasteless. You can definitely find better places with tasty Italian food and friendly service for third the price of the check in there.

Really a fantastic meal of homemade pasta. I am truly pleased with a place offering a small menu of a mix of seasonal and classic dishes with an emphasis on quality and flavor. This place was a triumph in these categories. To begin, our table share the appetizer sampler, a perfect selection of primarily cured meats from the Emilia-Romagna region. I then enjoyed the tagliatelle con porcini from the seasonal menu. The handmade pasta was absolutely divine: both airy and light but substantially rich to offer an incredibly satisfying chew. Zabaiolone for dessert, my mouth was singing an aria all the way home. You should definitely make a reservation if you can. If not, arrive 20min before they open and it is possible you will get a table. Many people in our line did (we had a reservation).

【This is not a place I would recommend】 While staying nearby, I happened to see an elderly person earnestly making pasta at the front of the restaurant and noticed people lining up outside. I thought, “This might be an authentic and popular place,” and decided to try it. It seemed to be a popular restaurant, and when I tried to make a same-day reservation, I was told that there was only one table available at 21:15, so I went at that time. Upon arrival, I was seated promptly, but the receptionist prioritized taking a phone call and didn’t even glance at me as I entered. My impression of “poor hospitality” started right then and there. As I feared, the worst part was the server at our table (a white man with black-rimmed glasses and a shaved head). Below are the unacceptable aspects of his service: 1. Since I was with a child, I asked about the portion sizes. His response was shockingly dismissive: “It’s one plate per person, right? How should I know if the amount is right for you?”—something no hospitality professional should ever say. 2. He refused to discuss the portions, so I decided to observe how my child was eating and planned to order another dish later. However, when I tried to place an additional order toward the end, he snapped, “You can’t order piecemeal like that—it’ll trouble the chef.” I was appalled that a mere floor staffer would prioritize the chef’s mood over the customer’s experience. If that’s the policy of the restaurant, it should be clearly stated in advance. If they don’t want à la carte orders, they should operate as course-only. 3. At checkout, I noticed the bill had the Amex logo, so I offered to pay with my American Express card. The waiter clicked his tongue in disapproval, went to fetch a separate terminal, and after completing the payment, flung the card back onto the table and left without a word. He didn’t even provide a receipt until I asked. I suspect this might violate Amex’s merchant agreement. I plan to report this incident and request an investigation or possible revocation of their merchant status. On the positive side, the tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce was excellent—so much so that my child even asked for seconds. The pasta was clearly handmade with care, and that point deserves praise. In summary, the chefs are diligent, but the service—especially the black-rimmed-glasses man who seems to be the floor manager—was absolutely terrible. If the restaurant prioritizes local regulars over first-time customers, they should clearly state so. If they refuse additional orders, they shouldn’t offer à la carte dining. In the near future, when robots handle service tasks, staff like this—who lack even the slightest hospitality—will be replaced. A server without a spirit of service has no reason to exist. His behavior made it clear that he is just going through the motions after years in the job. Lastly, I noticed the Michelin sticker on the door before entering and thought this might be a top-rated place. On closer inspection, it was from six years ago. After this experience, I clearly understand why they lost that honor. The food may be good, but the service ruins everything. The price felt excessive, and I walked away with deep disappointment.

We had lunch (tagliatelle con prosciutto e asparago, anatra con arance), dessert, and coffee. We happened to be seated where we could watch family members making pasta. The entire experience was wonderful: delicious food, excellent service, and a show. We were lucky to be able to just walk in, perhaps because it was for lunch and we were on the late side. Reservations recommended, and well in advance if for dinner.

Trattoria Vecchia Roma is a charming trattoria and pizzeria that has been serving up Roman specialties since 1916. The restaurant's traditional decor, with burgundy walls adorned with frescoes and bare-brick arches, creates an intimate and classic atmosphere for diners. One of the unique dining experiences offered at Trattoria Vecchia Roma is the opportunity to have pasta flambeed in a giant Parmesan wheel.
We went here on our last night in Rome, and couldn’t have ended our stay in a better way! The food, service and atmosphere were all great I wish I could go back. Service was quick, as there was plenty of staff staying on top of dishes being removed and bringing food quickly. This was a big deal for us as parents with a toddler who likes to play around with everything on the table. But for the food, we had the Italia pizza and cod nuggets as a starter, which I am still thinking about! The mushroom ravioli and spaghetti I would highly recommend.

Had to wait a couple of minutes for a table but that is probably a positive. Atmosphere is excellent, same for the food. Had the bucatini Amatriciana, the smokiness of the dish was probably suited to a colder night but the dish was perfect. Same for the humble roasted potatoes. The staff were attentive and fast even during an amazingly busy service. Had the White House wine that was also very good. Would definitely visit again.

This restaurant is definitely an internet celebrity. If you don't make a reservation in advance, you will never be able to have a comfortable dinner under normal circumstances. Even though I made a reservation, I still had to wait at the door for about 15 minutes. Walk-in customers have to wait at least two to three hours. If you come here because of its fame, you have to be mentally prepared. When it comes to food, it offers some special dishes that are different from traditional Italian cuisine. I especially recommend its fried appetizers, and the pasta taste is not very outstanding. I also recommend its red wine oxtail, which is worthy of praise and a must-try.

We had such a great night at Trattoria Vecchia Roma — definitely one of our favorite meals in Italy! We ordered a few classic Italian dishes: a Napoli pizza with mozzarella and anchovies, Spaghetti alla Carbonara con Tartufo (with eggs, bacon, and pecorino cheese), and an artichoke salad that our waitress recommended. We also had a bottle of Acqua Nepi sparkling water to go with everything. Luckily, we made a reservation ahead of time, so we got seated quickly. The line outside was already pretty long before the restaurant even opened! The vibe inside was cozy and lively, and the staff were super friendly and efficient. We even got to chat with the manager or owner at the cashier — he was really welcoming and kind. We left the restaurant feeling full and happy. It was such a great experience, and we’d totally recommend it to anyone visiting Rome. We’d love to come back next time we’re in town!

Was last here 6 years ago n now I’d returned! Chanced upon this place by accident then n never forgotten how good their pasta was. In those days we didn’t rely too much on social media reviews but I strongly recommend this place as their pasta was really top notch. Still busy as before but it is worse now🤪. Had booked this months ahead when I did my booking for Rome. Reasonable price with good quality of food. What more to ask for? My advice is to book online in advance.

Wait staff moves with speed and efficiency. Not a place to linger at your table as they are very busy during peak dinner hours and in need of quick turn over of the tables. Cacio e pepe was full of flavor and pasta was perfectly cooked. Cabonara was also well prepared but was a bit too heavy for me (flavor of pork fat was too much). Bruschetta was a favorite. Carciofi all Giudia was delish. The tiramisu and Saltimbocca were... meh... At the end of the day, would recommend a try.

Pasta was very good though too salty. Prices are good and portions are big. The place is very cozy with a traditional look and all the traditional dishes. Our first night in to Rome and we could only get a 3 PM reservation, because of the time difference it was perfect. The food was exceptional. The staff made us feel right at home and I would say it was the best meal of the trip so far and we’ve had many. I would recommend this Restuarant to all my foodies five star. Make sure you get the pasta dish called casa de Pepe!!

How were they able to make a simple mozzarella and prosciutto starter melt in your mouth like this? Unfussy, uncomplicated but oh so effective. We learned that Carbonara is a Roman dish, so we decided to order Felicé's and WOW!! Rich but palatable sauce, crispy bacon and al dente pasta - it was out of this world. The staff were great with English. They were effective and professional and it felt they had huge pride in the quality of their food. We dined here Wednesday 8th October at 19:00 hours on the terrace. They fired up the outside heaters for us and that kept us very comfortable all night. We enjoyed our time here so much we decided to have lunch here before our return journey to England. We turned up 15 minutes after opening time assuming it would be quiet (12:45) but it was already packed out and theu could just about squeeze us in. Highly recommended. The locals love it. We'd return but we do recommend you make a booking. Of our four restaurants we dined in during our 4 night stay in Rome, Felicé was our favourite.

Truly a destination for Roman pastas. Go for Cacio e Pepe and Carbonara. Excellent handmade tonarelli and very generous portions. Service can be improved but the food makes up for it. Do not miss the tiramisu, one of the best things they have.

I really didn’t like this place. Service was incredibly slow and kept forgetting our orders and we kept having to remind them over and over. Atmosphere was super loud like people were shouting constantly at the other tables, very uncivilised. The food was so mid, not worth the insanely expensive price. I just think a carbonara for more than 12 euros nowadays is insane.
Iris M — Google review
⭐ Overhyped and disappointing We went to Felice after hearing countless recommendations, but sadly, the experience did not live up to the hype. The only star goes to the sommelier, who gave us a good wine suggestion. Everything else was a letdown. It took 50 minutes before anyone even came to take our order. We tried waving, calling, waiting… nothing. It became awkward, three of us sitting there with our hands raised, clearly being ignored. When someone finally approached, they told us to wait for “the person with the tablet” and just walked away. No help offered. When the food came, things didn’t improve. The carbonara arrived slightly cold and 7 minutes before the other dishes. Then came two cacio e pepes that could not have been more different: one so peppery it was almost inedible, the other extremely dry. Anyone who knows this dish knows it’s all about balance, and that’s exactly what was missing here. They insist on finishing the cacio e pepe at the table, probably to look good on TikTok, but that completely ruins the sauce. If you want a show, pick another dish, not this one. At €19, it was the most expensive cacio e pepe I’ve had in Italy, and definitely not worth it. We decided to cut the dinner short, but even asking for the check turned into another test of patience. After being ignored again, we just went to pay at the counter. As we walked out, we saw staff already cleaning our table, honestly, it summed up the whole experience. ⚠️ Verdict: One star for the sommelier, everything else was chaos, confusion, and disappointment. Overrated and overpriced.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ By chance, our cab driver on the way to a morning tour recommended this place for “the best cacio e pepe in Rome”. But we’d already booked it for the same evening! Our choice was validated by his recommended and punctuated the second we arrived. Service was lovely, atmosphere/ambience was fantastic, and the place was packed, seemingly with locals, not tourists. Every dish hit high notes, and of course the cacio e pepe was the best we had while in Rome. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend getting off the beaten path to try this place.

Flavio al Velavevodetto, located in one of Rome's historic neighborhoods, is a culinary gem known for its fantastic traditional Roman cuisine. The restaurant's owner, Flavio De Maio, honed his skills at the renowned Felice a Testaccio before opening his own establishment. Here, he serves up a delightful variation of the trattoria's signature cacio e pepe dish and a rich ox-tail stew called coda alla vaccinara.
This is the kind of place you hope to find yourself in, when you travel to Rome. Off the tourist track, no loud talking Americans and Brits. Just a relaxed, confident and unprentious restaurant. Full of charm, authenticity, friendly service and above all great food. The carbonara and Cacio e Pepe are quite rightly famous (they're fantastic), but for me, the Trippa is the star! Wow, what a perfect meal.

Food was mediocre at best. Pasta even came out undercooked and I had to ask the waiter to bring me a new plate. By the time the new plate came out my wife had already finished her plate and had to watch me eat my second plate. Unfortunately the second plate was still a little bit undercooked but it was edible at least. The service was fine, nothing special to complain about. But at a nice restaurant I would expect some kind gesture to show that they were sorry about the first plate having an undercooked pasta. We sat outside, where floor was tilting quite a bit. A slight push on the table would make our glasses fall on the ground. The floor outside was fake grass making the outside feel very cheap. However, we were glad we had a seat outside, as the inside had a strong smell from the kitchen. Felt like the air inside wasn’t ventilated properly. We have had quite a hard time to find good authentic roman food in Rome, so maybe the already good score is relative to what is available in Rome overall. However, I feel like this really didn’t cut it for a restaurant in Rome. To mention a few positive things, the interior looked cozy inside, and the people working in the restaurant was nice. My wife thought her food was good but nothing spectacular. I ordered the carbonara and my wife ordered the ravioli.

Da Bucatino is a charming restaurant located in Testaccio, known for its traditional Roman cuisine and cozy atmosphere. The retro signage outside the establishment sets the tone for a delightful dining experience. Inside, guests are greeted with linen-clothed tables on a mosaic floor, creating an inviting ambiance. The menu features classic Roman dishes such as bucatini all'amatriciana and carbonara, along with seafood and pizza options.
The food was awesome! We came here because some Italian folks told us to. The carbonara was a perfect 10, and the steak had amazing flavor. Definitely recommend it!

Lovely local spot, I think has great potential! The portions are overly generous so I wish we would have split a plate. I asked to take away my pasta but the lovely nonna forgot, my husband’s pasta was a little too al dente as well. Perhaps we came during a busy evening, but would give it a go again.

Combine tradition with quality and you get to the secret of Da Buccatino. Of course you have to try their name-giving dish Buccatini Amatriciana, but all other dushes we tried were equally good. The vid shows the Caccia e Pepe we had. Our waiter was fantastic and became a sort of friend when we re-visited. We like the indoors because if their noise-absorbing ceilling which makes conversations so much more pleasurable. Firmly on my list in Testaccio.

This was a hidden gem! It was a quiet restaurant and the server was very attentive. We ate here for our anniversary and loved all of the food. We were worried that it might be packed because of the busy restaurants that we passed to get here. However, we got right in. I had rabbit, chicory, Roman Style Artichoke, and burrata cheese. My husband and I would eat here again.

One of my favorite meals in Rome! The amatriciana was the best I’ve had yet! Simple, rustic, and delicious. Don’t feel too pressured to get dessert; if you have room, order more pasta!

We had dinner here recently. The food was good—though I was a little surprised that my pasta dish only came with a single prawn. Perhaps that’s just how it’s served, but it felt a bit underwhelming. One thing that stood out was the service. We weren’t offered the complimentary bread that I noticed was given to other tables. Additionally, we were charged a service fee for three people, including my infant daughter who was asleep throughout the entire meal and server didn'teven care to provide baby chair . I did request to have the extra €2 charge removed, which was done, but it left me with the impression that the server wasn’t particularly interested in providing good service or making the experience pleasant. It’s a shame, because the food had potential—but the service definitely affected the overall experience.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Authentic Roman Food – A True Local Gem! I consider myself a food connoisseur, and I’ve dined in some of the best restaurants around the world – but Da Bucatino truly surpasses everything I have ever tasted. This is not a tourist spot – this is where Italians themselves come to eat, which says it all. The food is as authentic as it gets, straight from the heart of Rome. We enjoyed several classics, and each one was unforgettable: • Cozze alla marinara – Fresh mussels with the perfect balance of garlic and herbs. • Spaghetti al pomodoro – A simple dish elevated to perfection: al dente pasta, fresh tomato sauce, basil, and Parmigiano. • Risotto alla crema di scampi – Creamy, rich, and infused with the sweetness of fresh scampi. • Carciofi alla Romana – Tender, flavorful artichoke seasoned beautifully with olive oil and herbs. • Scampi alla griglia – Smoky, perfectly grilled, and finished with fresh lemon. The atmosphere makes the experience complete: authentic, warm, and family-style. You can feel the love for Roman tradition in every detail, and the service is just as genuine as the food. If you want the true taste of Rome, where Italians themselves come to eat, Da Bucatino is an absolute must. This is not just dinner – it’s a Roman experience that leaves a mark.

Trattoria Da Teo is a charming ivy-clad restaurant located in the picturesque neighborhood of Trastevere. It offers an intimate and rustic dining experience, serving seasonal specialties such as truffles. The trattoria is known for its authentic Roman dishes like artichokes cooked in olive oil and garlic, pasta carbonara, pasta amatriciana, and cacio e pepe. Reservations are recommended, especially for a table in the lovely courtyard.
We visited this popular restaurant in Rome and we loved it. It's not easy to book a table, but when we arrived they straight away accommodated us. Our waiter was great explaining all the specials of the day and the menu options too. The food was really good and the atmosphere was amazing. The owner Teo came over to check how our experience was and we managed to get a picture with him. We felt at home. We really recommend it to our family and friends. See you next time and all the best!

Originally joined a queue for another restaurant nearby but decided to try here instead. We were seated straight away when it opened and the restaurant quickly filled up. Food was great, slightly more expensive than we’d seen elsewhere but the generous portions more than made up for it. Service was friendly and attentive, zero complaints, glad we got to experience this place by chance.

We were in Trastevere for Antico Forno Sentini and their pastries, but it was lunchtime so we decided to eat at this wonderful restaurant. They have tables on a litle nice square, quiet and very cozy. The food was very good and tasty (we took pasta of the day - fettuccine funghi & spaghetti galletti and as starters, we had fried anchovies). The food served to the other guests also looked very tempting: pasta vongole, mussels, carbonara, tiramisu...I would have liked to taste everything 😍 The service was very friendly and helpful, especially Dario, who was joking and charming us while he took care of us and the other customers. We definitely come back next time we'll be in Rom.😍🥰😍

Trattoria Da Teo – Trastevere, Rome If heaven serves pasta, it probably looks like Da Teo. We kicked things off with the bruschetta and porcini mushrooms — both absolute flavor bombs that should come with a warning label for being addictive. For mains, we had a carbonara and a spaghetti with wild boar. I don’t even remember speaking after the first bite — just silent, happy nods across the table. Hands down the best pasta we’ve ever had, anywhere. Then came the tiramisu, which ruined every future tiramisu we’ll ever try. It’s not dessert, it’s a life event. And our waiter, Nicolino — a walking Italian movie character. Big personality, full of jokes, and just the right amount of sarcasm. Easily the best waiter we’ve ever had. We’re literally going back tonight. Because moderation is for people who haven’t eaten at Da Teo.

Not a rip off. Traditional fare prepared with care. Seasonal items [now Fall](truffle and mushroom) available off menu on request (truffles being more expensive than their usual options ofc). Waiters can provide expert assistance with wine request both by the glass and bottle. All at reasonable prices.

We know that this famous restaurant opens at 7:30 pm for dinner, but it would have been nice to give some consideration to customers like us who were waiting outside in the rain. They started accepting customers at 7:40 pm, so it was quite stressful despite having a reservation already. We were among the very first to arrive, and when we asked to be seated inside, the female staff sternly told us we can't choose our table and we HAVE to sit outside. When we were seated, we could see and hear other waiters and customers arguing because of the waiting line. The atmosphere, coupled with rain, was uncomfortable and awkward. Despite the rough start, we still had a splendid meal--a generous portion of bread and salad, the best carbonara we've had so far in Rome, and fall-off-the-bones chicken with peppers cooked in a savory tomato sauce. I could understand why this was highly recommended by travel guides. The dishes would have been enough to compensate the negative start, but the overall experience was marred, by yet again, the service. We were served complementary dessert biscuits, which was nice, but we were asked to leave a tip, to which we were caught by surprise. Tipping has never been common in Italy, and we've never experienced it until now. Being requested for tips left a bad after-taste of what could have been a great dining experience in Trastevere.
Cheska P — Google review
We had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant tonight. We walked in as a group and stood at the entrance for several minutes. Despite staff walking past, not a single person acknowledged our presence, greeted us, or even made eye contact. It was as if we were invisible. Finally, we managed to stop a waiter. Instead of helping us himself, he pointed to a lady manager and told us to ask her. We did exactly that. We approached her and asked if we could get a table. Her response was nothing but a cold, blunt "No." No smile, no apology, no explanation. When we pressed further and asked why we couldn't be seated, another staff member simply said, "Reservation only," in a similarly dismissive tone. The restaurant was half empty with plenty of available tables, yet they made no effort to accommodate us. The complete lack of basic hospitality, customer service, and common courtesy was shocking. The way we were treated made us feel utterly disrespected and unwelcome. You can have the best food in the world, but if you treat potential customers like this, you don't deserve their business. We will never return and would advise others to book elsewhere unless you enjoy being treated with indifference.
Cynthia — Google review
We ordered Carbonara and Chicken and Pepper which are very good. The carbonara was creamy and the chicken was tender and tasty. It was like being served by an Italian nonna. Reservation is highly recommended. The experience would have been very good but they open quite late at 7:30 pm, much later than most Italian places. They also need to improve how to prepare and serve waiting customers in a rainy weather. Their service is a bit sour and would most likely dampen the mood. It also surprised me that they're quite aggressive on asking for tips, something that I haven't experienced in an Italian business before. I find this unpleasant because food places are already charging for coperto. Food is delicious, but the service is poor.

The food was amazing!! We got the ham and cheese board and a bread salad for starters and they were so tasty and delicious. First course I got pici with mushrooms and for the second course I got the cod. Of course could not miss out on the chocolate mousse for dessert! Everything was very delicious and exquisite!

Wow! One of the best trattoria's I've experienced in Rome. Very unassuming from the outside but beautifully decorated, a wonderful staff and some of the best food I've had in all of my years in Rome. Simple but effective. They have a expansice wine collection as well as amaro's. I had the carbonara, and meatballs after, both cooked to perfection. I visited during lunch and it filled up quickly so maybe a reservation is needed in the evening. I highly recommend dining here!

Trattoria Pennestri was one of the true highlights of my time in Rome. Tucked away in the Ostiense neighborhood, this place blends a warm, relaxed atmosphere with serious culinary skill. It absolutely delivers on both. I came here for pasta, and I wasn’t disappointed. Every dish I tried was flawless: pasta perfectly al dente, sauces rich and deeply flavorful without feeling heavy. The carbonara in particular was unforgettable: creamy, balanced, and exactly what Roman comfort food should be. By the end of the meal, I was already wishing I had time to come back before leaving the city. It’s no surprise they’ve earned a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide. You can taste the thoughtfulness in every bite, and the service matches it: warm, attentive, and never rushed. Trattoria Pennestri is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve uncovered a local treasure, and for me, it’s an easy five stars.

Solid restaurant in Ostiense! Love that it's not in a touristy area. We were able to walk in without a reservation for lunch, but I'm not sure if that's the case for dinner. Their Amatriciana is incredible. I don't know how they do it but the guanciale was perfectly cooked - SO crispy on the outside and very tender inside. Apparently their chocolate mousse is also one of the best in the city. We didn't know this at the time and got their tiramisu instead, but it was delicious.

was initially quite skeptical about this place given the high rating and number of reviews but it turned out to be great! we only ordered 2 dishes but they were all good. the carbonara was creamy and al dente, not as salty as in other restaurant we ate so it's generally lighter. we enjoyed the fried codfish ball too. it's crispy on the outside and soft inside. came with some veg and roasted potato slice too, nice! service staff are attentive and they have both indoor and outdoor seatings too.

The food had hit all the right notes. Cacio e pepe was served fresh out of the pan, taste of the sauce cuts through the pasta well. The chicken (made in roman style) was cooked well with good portions, served with fluffy potatoes. We ordered a meatball just to try given how their menu had a dedicated section just for meatballs. Pretty worth the stomach space. Salad was fresh too. Service can be a bit slow when the restaurant gets filled up, we waited 10 min to get our bills paid.

To be completely honest, I found this place on some TikTok video, but it was definitely worth it. This restaurant is massive with tons of seating inside and a massive outside patio. They Had a waiting line based on your party size - greater than 4 were in a separate line. We actually only ended up staying in line for about 10 minutes before we were seated at a table. Our server came by and asked us what we wanted and we quickly picked two of their famous pastas. The food came within 10 minutes and was really hot and fresh. They probably did have the stuff ready to go, but it didn’t taste like it. Both pastas were really good and decent amount of quantity however, I was still left wanting more. The pesto tasted like true pesto and the pasta was al dente. We opted to skip dessert and get gelato on the way out. This place does have a bathroom, but the amenities were running pretty low and there was a line for the bathroom as well. They do a good job of turning over tables quickly, but we did not feel rushed at all to leave. All in all, one of the better sitdown experiences we had in Rome.

Sina was the best of the best! They were extremely attentive and even with our baby and toddler who screamed at times the whole staff was incredibly kind to them Constantly entertaining them! On top of that the food was out of this world. 10/10 would recipe d and we’ll come back. The must haves are the meatball pasta, lasagna, carbonara, meat balls white sauce, the lamb, and of course the tiramisu and limoncello. Can’t forget the recommend wines. What a night and incredibly affordable !!

This is one of the must try restaurant in the Trastevere neighbourhood if not in Rome. Reslly buzzing atmosphere huge crowd waiting in line for the opportunity to have a seat. But it was a fast moving crowd beautifully handled by the restaurant. I tried the Rigatoni al pesto with pinenut cherry tomatoes with a spritz l' apertivo. The pasta was mouth watering to look at and the first bite made all the wait worth it. Really friendly staff who also communicated with me in English. I completed my night with a panna cotta con fresas which was again a tasty end to my wonderful dinner. I would really recommend this restaurant for those who are visiting and totally worth the hype. Happy eating 🤤

Top eats —> the carbonara and the caccio e Pepe. And do not miss on the tiramisú it’s delicious! 😋😋😋

Nonna Betta, located in Via del Portico d'Ottavia, is a classic Roman-Jewish restaurant with an elegant ambiance adorned with 19th-century ghetto scenes frescoes. The owner, Umberto, who is the grandson of nonna Betta, takes pride in preserving the ancient tradition of Roman-Jewish cuisine. The menu features typical dishes alongside Middle Eastern additions like falafel and hummus contributed by his business partner Gamil.
⸻ This restaurant was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff was warm and welcoming, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather, which made dining outdoors especially enjoyable. Okay, it’s a little crazy. That’s because they are so busy, and THAT’S because the food is incredible. Every dish was amazing, every mouthful a new delight. Their carciofo alla gudía is the best I’ve ever had. Yes, it’s noisy. Who cares? Not to be missed.
Robin R — Google review
First of all, don't be fooled if it's important to you, it is not a Kosher restaurant. It says "Kosher" style. Anyway... The food was meh... Tuna was fresh but very much over seasoned. Falafel were densed and heavy, far from being the "best" as advertised. Humous was also not up to the standard of a middle eastern restaurant. The carbonara Zucchini was a disaster, it was more like scrambled eggs pasta . Artichoke was fine but maybe has lost its way since Anthony Bourdain visited years ago. Overall a disappointing experience.

I recently visited a traditional Italian restaurant located in the heart of Rome. The interior was very charming, with dark tones and plenty of vintage photographs that created a cozy and nostalgic atmosphere. There were quite a few waiters, which made the service both fast and pleasant — the staff was attentive and professional throughout the evening. However, I must admit that the food didn’t quite meet my expectations in terms of flavor. It wasn’t bad, but I was hoping for something a bit more authentic or memorable considering the location. On the other hand, the prices were surprisingly reasonable for a restaurant situated right in the city center. Overall, it’s a nice place for the ambiance and service, but the food could be improved.

This is an Italian restaurant that is highly recommended. From the photos of different eras on the wall, you can see the changes in the center of Rome, such as the appearance of Castel Sant'Angelo in the past and the conditions of ordinary people's homes in the past. As for the quality of the food, I think it is very good! The taste is just right and the sauce is rich. I especially recommend their seafood platter, which is very good and delicious. In addition, the staff are also very friendly and helpful

We ordered gluten-free pasta and some starters, though unfortunately, the restaurant doesn’t offer gluten-free pizza. We tried the lasagna, fettuccine with pesto and shrimp, and the parmigiana — all were delicious and well-prepared. The staff were very knowledgeable about gluten allergies, reassured us about avoiding cross-contamination, and were also extremely friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Overall, a great experience for anyone looking for safe and tasty gluten-free options.

We did have a wait to be seated but it was an ideal table and worth it; we and other guests were not on top of one another. The terrace was well-lit with live music but we watched as several diners on the very edge were approached by street vendors. We had two pastas: rigatoni gricia and spaghetti alla vongole and the saltimbocca. We also added an amazing Greek salad. This was plenty of dinner for two adults and two tweens. While nice, the meal did not stand out for us against other Roman cuisine. We ordered tiramisu since so many other tables had it: unremarkable, and could be passed on. Toilets downstairs were tidy.

Another gem I found while wandering around. Best gnocchi I've had in years! And the food at nearby tables looked and smelled delicious too. Good value for the money - 2 courses and a cocktail for under €30. Pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. Very friendly, attentive (but not overly so) staff. Chatty if you wanted them to be, but left you alone if you wanted quiet relaxation.

Reservations are highly sought after and require advanced planning due to its popularity. The ambience is described as laid back despite its prestigious reputation, and there is a dress code for men.
Here’s what you need to know: outstanding meal and worthy of the 3 stars. Ambiance is unparalleled with the rooftop looking over all of Rome The most memorable and jaw droppingly brilliant dishes were the red shrimp, the veal, and the zucchini flower with saffron and caviar. No mediocre courses - no mistakes in execution. Incredible service by Simone. Chef Heinz took the time to come out to each table and warmly Greet them - such dedication after decades of success. Core Food memory for us now, after 15 3X Michelin star meals and dozens of other Michelin starred meals. The elegance place settings are another lovely contribution to the meal. Our meal was $1200 for 2 guests.

Anyone who rates this restaurant less than five stars doesn’t know what they’re talking about. It’s expensive, but you know that before you arrive. I’ve been to more than a dozen Michelin three star restaurants all over the world. This rates in the top five. The food is mine – blowing. The people are not stuffy. My only criticism would be the decor. It needs an update. Otherwise, perfection. And, if you are booked out 90 days in advance, why change anything?
Scott L — Google review
My wife and I were incredibly fortunate to secure a reservation at La Pergola after days immersed in the breathtaking works of Da Vinci, Raphael, and other masters. What awaited us at dinner was nothing short of a masterpiece of its own—crafted by the brilliant Heinz Beck. Every aspect—the food, the atmosphere, the service—beautifully affirmed the honor of the restaurant’s Three Michelin Stars. Each dish was a revelation, not just in taste but in meaning, as we were lucky enough to learn the inspiration behind several of them. The layers of flavor, the precision, the harmony of textures—it was all deeply moving. This was more than a meal; it was an experience that stirred the soul. We would return to Rome just to dine at La Pergola again.

Best dining experience of my life, first time at a three star Michelin. Everything was amazing; the taste the texture the service. A water menu from all around the world and two “books” lists of wine, very impressive wine collection.

Dining at La Pergola is an unforgettable experience. The view overlooking Rome alone is worth the visit, but the experience just keeps getting better from there. The staff is efficient and super friendly, making you feel right at home while still being incredibly attentive. The food is just amazing. I have to mention the burnt wheat tagliolini with rabbit and peppers. This wasn’t even on the menu, but it was a total masterpiece. The flavors were so unique and perfectly done, it’s honestly unforgettable. Yes, it’s on the pricey side, but that’s expected, and it’s clear why this place has three Michelin stars. It really delivers on every level. If you're ever in Rome and looking for a special dining experience, La Pergola is absolutely worth it!

It’s unforgettable experience! Amazing atmosphere, amazing food and service… extremely attentive and nice chef, made for us one more main dish as surprise and compliment for my dress of this evening. He also came to every table few times. Deeply appreciated this behavior and attitude. Also it’s very nice that they have very beautiful and comfortable smoking room. Really best of the best!

Antico Arco is a chic Italian restaurant located on top of Janiculum Hill in Rome. Founded by three friends with a passion for wine and fine food, it has been serving refined Italian cuisine with gourmet twists for almost 20 years. The restaurant's plush, modern dining rooms feature silver brick walls, dark wood floors, and black velvet chairs.
A place doing modern takes on some classics and introducing their own tastes. Overall a very pleasant experience, some things to note is that their bread is the best I’ve had in my week here, and they actually split dishes that were shared by serving them separately. Their best pasta dish is definitely the carbonara, and honestly I kind of regret not trying their tasting menu, but they still brought out a sampler before our first dish and even before desert. The only thing I would say to improve is the ginger desert I picked needed more pineapple fruit on it, that would elevate it! The experience was enjoyable and they definitely want you to be happy here, so don’t be afraid to speak up.
DaChang — Google review
Pros: pigeon dish was amazing, the lobster pasta was decent. Con: skip the beef tartar dish, it was too much, not enough seasoning, foie gras didn't taste like foie gras at all. Couldn't even finish it and I like tartar. Skip the first dessert. Shouldn't of went with dark chocolate souffle.

Nice place on Gianicolo hill. The tasting menu, although €80 lets you taste a variety of dishes and the skill of the chef in putting them together.

10 years ago we bid farewell to our Italy trip here, so nothing more appropriate to repeat it. The food continues to be fantastic, with spin on Italian classics plus some inventive dishes. Great place to taste a more modern take on Italy food heritage.

Before visiting Rome my friends spoke highly about the place that we must visit for sure. We went there to have dinner. Menu was selected by chef for us. They just asked which meet we are more into. We prefer fish. And the dishes that we have are all amazed us. We enjoyed the taste and it was other level of satisfaction of eating. Chef Fundim just made our night and now we recommend everyone. It should be the must visit place if you are looking to experience satisfaction. Also the choice of champagne and wine was gorgeous as well.

I really liked the service — calm, friendly, and attentive. The truffle pasta was delicious, with a rich aroma and perfect texture. I also want to share my experience using the service shown in the photo. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to count calories and track meals with it. It’s fast, convenient, and clear — I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to stay mindful of their nutrition.

This place is a Top Notch gem! The food is exquisite, the service impeccable, the atmosphere delightful.

A five star dining experience sitting outside, it wasn't bad with the traffic noise at all. All of the dishes were outstanding, make sure you have the salmon appetizer with bacon crumbles and also the ambergine appetizer. They have an extensive wine list and the sea bass dinner entrée was delicious. Also there they gave us several complimentary extra small bites during dinner. The lava cake for dessert was wonderful. Service was impeccable but at the end took a while to notify someone to bring our bill. Not an inexpensive restaurant but I felt it was a very good value for the quality and experience. I would recommend the trip (a 20 euro uber ride) if you are staying in downtown Rome near the monuments.

Supplì Roma is a compact shop in Rome known for its delicious Italian street food. The star of the menu is the suppli, a deep-fried ball of risotto rice filled with tangy ragu and gooey mozzarella. Originally named after the French word "surprise," this Roman delicacy has evolved over time to offer various mouthwatering variations, such as vegetable sauces, cacio e pepe, and more.
This little hole-in-the-wall shop may be tiny, but it’s constantly buzzing — even with tour groups dropping in! Great spot to try Rome’s version of Sicilian arancini 🍚🍅🧀🤎 I’m not usually big on fried food, but the rice balls with gooey mozzarella and bold flavours were a nice surprise. My favourite? The Amatriciana — tangy, satisfying, 9/10! The Carbonara was a bit too rich for me (6/10), but still worth trying.
Karolina P — Google review
Never had and First time trying suppli and it blew my mind!! This spot was highly suggested so had to come walk my way to this spot to try it despite the huge line and a little disorganize line on where to order but It did not disappoint at all! Tried their classio and their lemon flavor, it was definitely unique. Wanted to try their carbonara flavor but it sold out! That flavor must’ve been a must try!! Would need to visit Rome again soon to try this spot again!

Really good food. Tourists and locals alike stop by throughout the day grabbing a quick bite to eat. The chicken strips were really good. The pizza and also the balls filled with rice, sauce and cheese
John C — Google review
Suppli was a local recommendation. We went in Trastevere. Definitely a hotspot but worth the hype in my opinion. Their pizza was huge and delicious but obviously the Suppli are the thing to try. Classico and Cacio E Pepe. Delicious and so inexpensive. Worth the wait when there is a line!! Like a rice ball but so much better.
Catherine D — Google review
Not entirely sure what the hype was about. The suppli/arancino was yum but not outstanding as compared with other places. Also tried the eggplant parmigiana which was just ok also. It needs some sort of outdoor seating also

I don’t know how to describe this BUT THESE FRIED BALL ARE DELICIOOSOOOOOO. i am flabbergasted. We ordered every available tastes on that day. My favorite is calcio e pepe? I dont know if i wrote it right but anyway, all of them are delicious. Taste very creamy

A great place with delicious and affordable food. You simply buy your meal and eat outside. There is no waiting and no special treatment for tourist groups.

AMAZING! Definitely the best supplì we had on our trip, and we ate quite a few in Naples. We tried the original and the caccio e pepe, which were the only ones left for the day. My only recommendation would be to go earlier in the day because they have many more flavors but they will run out of them over the course of the day.

When in Trastevere, make sure to visit Trapizzino for a unique dining experience. This local favorite offers a delightful fusion of sandwich and pizza, with a bready cone filled with delectable options like chicken cacciatore and polpetta al sugo. It's an ideal spot for a quick and budget-friendly lunch, featuring outdoor seating for a relaxed meal.
Suuuuper nice place, we enjoyed a Meatball in tomato sauce Trapizzino, which is kind of a crepe shaped pizza. It tasted really great and the staff were very nice as well. Luckily, we went at a time that wasn't very crowded as well.

Our experience at Trapizzino started rough but ended wonderfully (food and service was great!). When we arrived, we were the first where it says “Wait here for table”. No one spoke to us for about 10-15 minutes, even with several attempts to ask staff. We were told there’s a list, but our name was not taken. But once they did engage us, we were seated and we had a wonderful server- so helpful and kind, and amazing food. Both the Trapizzino and suplí were great! We would definitely return. I would suggest to the restaurant to have someone dedicated to taking names at the front.
Sandy T — Google review
I visited this place when i was on rome to try out their signature trappizino's. The place was super crowded right next to the Trastevere steps where usually there sre performances happening everyday in the night. There is a possibility to take out, dine indoors or outdoors. So there is s seperate line for the take away and for dine ins. Clearly indicate your motives to the waiter outside to avoid unwanted wait. Once you get in, the staff were duper friendly to guide you through the menu and give suggestions. The food quantity was decent and worth a try once. I also tried the Supplis which sre one of Rome's famous street food here. I was super happy with the taste of the food I had. I was afraid of running out of vegetarian options here but there were additional options for vegetarians in the daily menu which was s pleasant surprise. So i would definitely recommend to experience this place and enjoy the local street food from here. Happy eating 🤤

Amazing food! The tongue trappezino and the potato suppli were the highlights. Amazing service as soon as we sat down with the bartender explaining to us in English the food menu in detail. I would come back here again!! It was about an hour wait for a table on Saturday late afternoon.

5 out of 5. We came here a few times as everything was perfect - to sit but also to take away (both food and drinks). Also close to some public stairs to sit and also some tables. True Roma vibe and experience. The food and the aperol is incredible. You need to go there if you are in travestere!

I needed something quick and delicious as I had just landed... I've seen this place all over YouTube and it was straight up surreal being inside! Tasty and filling, I opted for the cacciatore chicken and 2 suppli - 1 classic and 1 amatricana. I had been following a strict keto diet for many months and there's no way around it with this carb heavy spot lol.
Danielle R — Google review
Thanks for having us! Absolutely recommended place to visit and grab delicious fingerlicking trapizzino. Everything tastes beyond good and atmosphere was perfect and comforting. We took pollo alla cacciatora, which is classic and very good but still at the third place; polpetta al sugo that filled with meat was amazing but parmigiana di melanzane exceeded all the expectations and took the first place with a short gap from those tree!✨

Pizza Takeout

Pizza restaurant
Bonci Pizzarium is not your typical restaurant in Vatican City. It's a small street-food shop that offers a unique combination of bakery and pizzeria, serving some of the best food in the area. Their specialty lies in crafting authentic Roman lunch with versatile toppings like porcini mushrooms and salted pork fat on their square pizzas, which are true to Roman street foods.
Pizza was delicious but there was quite a wait until we got it, lots of people lined up but at least you get a ticket and just wait for your number to be called. One thing I wish the staff didn’t do, is place the meat pizzas right next to the meat free pizzas, as vegetarians we opted out from picking a pizza I really wanted to try because after the potato pizza was half way done, they put the potato pizza right next to a salami one where I could see the meat touching. Otherwise, the staff was very friendly, but I did want to share that feedback! We came here after watching the Netflix episode of the Table on Bonci, and we were glad to have gotten to experience this!
Leen S — Google review
I was lucky enough to be in Rome the day Bonci reopened, and I’d heard so much about it from foodie friends that I was really excited to finally try it. The pizza was good, with unique flavor combinations, though not quite the mind-blowing experience I was expecting. The meatball slice I ordered was actually served cold as it wasn’t warmed up enough, but the flavors still came through nicely. Overall, while it didn’t completely wow me, I’d still recommend a visit—especially given how highly it’s regarded by friends I trust as serious pizza lovers. Flavor
Abdullah — Google review
Overall good place to try if you wanna try different types of pizzas and not your typical crust - in a good way! Service takes a bit of time due to the way they operate and there’s very little seating so make sure you plan to takeaway if you want to sit to eat. The vibe is hip and fun and the servers were kind.
Karolyn J — Google review
This place was very hyped up for being the best pizza in Rome. Safe to say, it was very far from it. The queue ahead of us took over an hour, so we just went to get a coffee and came back. The pizza did look good, but unfortunately it lacked a bit of flavour and was not warm. The arancini was actually pretty solid, but overall not quite worth the wait. Prices are slightly steeper, but the total was 30 which was too much for 2, basically 15 a person which is very fair. Theres super limited seating, very overcrowded and loud. They do play some good music which was appreciated. Theres not much to do in the area around either. Would not recommend to trek for.
Petarcho — Google review
We ordered Supplì Classico and Carbonara — both were amazing! After that, we tried two different pizzas, and they were really tasty too. We also had two beers with the meal, and the total was 35.58 euros.
Bahattin Ç — Google review
It’s a style of pizza unique to the area and one I’m not accustomed to, so I may not be best suited to rate it. But, in general, it seemed pricey and overhyped for what it was. I thought the suppli was good and the service excellent, but the pizza is not something I’d go back for.
Bob — Google review
I absolutely didn’t like this place. For the first time in Italy, I left my food unfinished because it was so bad. The service was unpleasant, and the staff were rude. There weren’t even any labels showing what kind of pizza it was. I strongly do not recommend this place. And it’s really expensive- one slice of pizza approximately 10 euros. And as well there is no place to sit so we had to eat outside standing. Huge disappointment.
Anna L — Google review
Take a number for the pizza at the door. The food was great and I would recommend if want roman style pizza. No dine in just take out. They might skip your number but just remind them if they do. They'll make sure they get to you. It is quite busy but worth the wait.

Osteria Bonelli is a hidden gem in Rome, known for its traditional Roman cuisine and unassuming surroundings. One of the best restaurants I have been to in Rome. And prices are fair! The courgette flower filled with mozzarella and anchovies is from another planet, simply amazing. But it does not matter what you order, it is made to perfection. Their menu changes every day depending on what they get, which is also great. I came to Rome for a weekend and had to come here every day. If there was one thing to criticise, their house wine wasn’t great, although not expensive at all. I’d recommend you get a bottle instead if you drink wine. And another thing is, you’ll need to reserve a table over phone as it is always full.

I never received my food after waiting 30 minutes beyond when others at the table received their dishes. This has never happened to me in my life. Waiter was largely unapologetic and unhelpful. Go somewhere else. Edit (1 star to 3 stars): After the fact, the owner was made aware of the situation and insisted the dish be made immediately for takeaway. That was a very nice thing to do. The food is delicious!

Went out of my way to try this restaurant based on a recommendation... potatoes were overcooked so they didn't charge me with that (the waiter apologised which is nice). But instead paid for table service (didn't even eat the bread) and one glass of water... the cod was not too bad tho, wld have been better with sauce

We went to this restaurante last time we were in Rome, and we enjoyed so much that we went as a family and the very next day we brought my sister’s family to enjoy it with us. The starters at the time were: olives à milanesa, the polenta was filled with ragu and some other entry which we just loved it. The polenta was perfect! I dream about it! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The main dishes were pasta with guancialle a typical bacon from Rome region! Unbelievably delicious and unforgettable. What’s a culinary! If I am back in Rome, I would definitely come here again.

We got here based on a recommendation from my friend who is Italian, so that says a lot already. We know how Italians are specific about food quality. Let me tell you, everything was DELICIOUS! The veal was tender and juicy , and as my boyfriend says „phenomenal”. He will be having wet dreams about it haha. Puddings were out of this world too. Everything well and fair priced. You won’t see many tourists here as that’s where the Italians eat. Our server Jennifer was very kind, super helpful (translating to English their Italian menu) and gave us best and honest recommendations. We will be back when next time in Rome :) Grazie!

Great authentic Italian cuisine. I ordered the raviolis and my partner ordered the carbonara, both of which were outstanding. The carbonara was smooth, creamy, and perfectly crispy bits of pork. The ravioli with a red sauce had a lovely heat that built slowly to let you know it was there. The bread was also very well executed.

Sunday family lunch, we took my parents for lunch to experience the local cuisine and my husband and I have been here before, so we know food is exceptional. We had Mozzarella in carrozza for the kids, Gricia and Amatriciana for the big boys, tris al sugo, rabbit (alla cacciatora) and saltimbocca. Every single dish was delicious and with generous portions. Service is good but could be better, they are extremely busy and unless you book in advance, finding a table can be ‘mission impossible’. However, our waiter and a girl with blond long hair were very kind and helpful. Highly recommended, but make sure you book in advance!

Lo Scopettaro is a venerable trattoria in Rome, offering classic Roman recipes such as pasta and pizza, along with a selection of Italian wines. Established in 1930, it originated as a broom shop but quickly transformed into a trattoria when the owner's wife prepared a delicious pasta dish that attracted numerous guests.
This was a real “hidden” gem! It is not very well known and recommended by an Italian, but it is close to Trastevere on foot. We went for dinner and tried a few of their pastas, a chicken, and, of course, some dessert! The restaurant was busy, mainly Italians, which is a good sign, and everything we had was delightful! We had a lovely dinner, but our waiter didn't speak English; I would communicate in Spanish, and he would reply in Italian 😂 it made for some pleasant interactions, and we left with our hearts (and tummy) full❤️

The restaurant is known for its delightful dinner meals such as Bomboloni all'amatriciana and impiccetta pasta. It's also recognized as one of the best restaurants in Trastevere for fish and seafood dishes.
If you want both an authentic Italian and authentic Roman Italian, this is the place. The resteraunt is just full of local Italians, no tourists really, and the reason for this is you have to book well in advance, which we fortunate as we were being hosted by Italian friends who live in Rome. The food was absolutely sensational!! The pasta comes in three portions sizes and the portions are massive, so stick to the 160g is advised. We must have had 10 various dishes, which were all individually incredible. The bread comes in a brown paper bag, which all adds to the experience, which the evening certainly was. Undoubtedly the greatest Italian meal we've ever had, and what an atmosphere!!!

Wow, another amazing dining experience in Rome. This time, a very Roman restaurant with all of the typical dishes (amatriciana, carbonara, cacio pepe, etc) as well as antipasti's and second courses. The pasta and meatballs were some of the best I've experienced in Rome! The portions are massive so be careful, I asked for a "piccola" of the pasta and still could barely finish it. The meatballs were some of the best I've ever had. Service was amazing, good vino. Highly recommended!

100/10. Must visit very authentic restaurant in Rome! Their fried zucchini appetizer is the best ever!

I’m going to echo the others, saying this felt like a very Roman experience. This was our fifth day in Rome and our first day experiencing the community in this way. The restaurant is a bit tight, but that lends itself to a more homey atmosphere than many terraces I’ve eaten at this week. Our server was engaging and fun. The food was amazing!! Every food we were told that was a Roman specialty I found on this menu. We tasted all of it and it was so deeply delicious I don’t know how I’m supposed to go back to US dried pasta. I may have to learn how to make my own! The drinks were wonderful as well. The prices were great. I made a reservation for 8:30 and I’m glad I did, it got busy. Almost no guest spoke English, but the waitstaff spoke English very clearly. The food is in HUGE portions. I ordered a medium and I’m a large person and a good eater. Had to take more than half of it home. Even though it was busy, every staff member went above and beyond. OF NOTE: we did not have euros on us and they did not accept tip via card. Even though we were unable to tip (and deeply wish we could’ve!) the server ran after us outside to give us a better bag for our takeaway. Not something I’m used to seeing in my own country - it’s left a lasting impression. It’s also in a lively neighborhood unlike what we saw near the Vatican. Roman citizens everywhere, drinking and laughing and enjoying life. I so cherished my evening and it was a beautiful way to say goodbye to Rome .

Roma Sparita is a charming pasta and pizza restaurant located in Trastevere, known for its country-style interiors and tranquil piazza setting. The eatery gained fame after being featured on Anthony Bourdain's show 'No Reservations' for its unique presentation of cacio e pepe in a parmesan cheese bowl.
Hands down the best dining experience of our trip. The food was absolutely out of this world—authentic, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The cacio e pepe and artichoke dishes are an absolute must. My husband and I got incredibly lucky—we showed up right as they were opening and the hostess managed to squeeze us in. Otherwise, we would’ve needed a reservation, which we now highly recommend. This spot fills up fast, and for good reason! Fantastic food, warm service, and a truly memorable meal. A highlight of our time in Rome.

Tucked away in one of the quieter, less touristy corners of Trastevere, this little gem came highly recommended for its famous Cacio e Pepe. We opted to sit indoors, even though their outdoor patio looked absolutely charming, sometimes you just want the cozy indoor vibe. Our waiter was funny, friendly, and quick on his feet. He took our order with a smile, shared the daily specials, and even threw in a few jokes. But my mind was already made up: Tagliolini Cacio e Pepe it was! When the plate arrived, I was instantly impressed by the presentation: a work of art! The pasta was crowned in a crispy shell of pecorino cheese, which you could break apart and enjoy alongside each bite. Genius touch. The pasta itself was cooked to perfection; though personally, I would have preferred the slightly thicker tonnarelli, the flavor was spot on. Bravo to the Roma Sparita team, you’ve won me over! 👏🏼

Delicious!!! Easy seating for 2 with no reservations. The service was great and the food was delicious! I got the cacio e Pepe and it came in a cheese bowl! It was a neat experience but definitely a heavy meal. Overall the experience was great and I think it is an amazing stop for dinner!

Great restaurant ! We ordered a variety of pastas, a capriciosa pizza, melon and prosciutto, and some antipasto. Everything tasted very good and the house white wine was so smooth and fresh.

On Sunday evening, this restaurant—like many others in Trastevere—was completely full of guests. Fortunately, we were lucky enough to find a free table. The moderately priced menu looked inviting, as did the friendly waitresses. The beef steak was delicious, though my lamb steak was merely tasty. The wine we ordered was quite strong.

Best meal of our trip so far! The place was very busy so there was a bit of a wait, but it was definitely worth it. Highly recommend this restaurant and we'll definitely be returning.

Food was very disappointing, lacked flavor except for salt, which overpowered every dish. Our reception was cold, our server was nice, but I could not recommend this place when there are so many other options with great food in Rome.

We were able to get a quick walk in table here. Only tables inside were available without a booking. Our entrees were delicious. We did order the carbonara however it was the saltiest food we have ever tasted. We were unfortunately unable to finish the meal because of this.

Nestled near the elegant Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina, Matricianella is a charming old-world trattoria that invites you to indulge in authentic Roman cuisine. With its delightful sidewalk terrace and a cozy atmosphere adorned with checked tablecloths, this eatery often draws eager diners ready to savor some of Rome's finest pasta.
We just had a wonderful experience at Matricianella as a group of 10. I made the reservation a few weeks before we were visiting Rome. We were seated in their private room which is inside the underground wine cellar so quite a unique and special experience. Due to our group size we were offered a set menu which consisted of starter, first course, second course, desert, coffee & waters. The food was excellent, my favourite being the veal saltimbocca. (Second course) The selection of wine was amazing, something delicious for all budgets and tastes. The staff were fantastic, incredibly friendly and attentive. Overall, I’d highly recommend Matricianella and I will absolutely dine there again should I be in Rome.
Kieran O — Google review
Very disappointed by this highly rated restaurant. Unlike most restaurants in Rome, the service was very rushed. We sat down, ate, and left within 1 hour. Asked the waiter which veal dish to order and he recommended the arrosto di vitella con patate (roast veal with potatoes). It was extremely bland. The cacio e pepe was pretty thick and much better elsewhere as were the fried zucchini flowers. The fried artichoke was very good.

Matricianella is a true gem for authentic Italian 🇮🇹🍝🍷 dining. The pasta dinner was absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The cozy, traditional atmosphere made the experience even more special. A must-visit if you’re looking for a genuine Roman meal.

Spectacular food—easily some of the best we’ve had in Rome. In an area full of overpriced tourist traps serving inauthentic dishes, this place is a true gem. It came highly recommended by locals and friends alike, and it absolutely exceeded our expectations in every way.

I will give this restaurant a 1 star. Our experience was not pleasant. I made a reservation 2 weeks ago and they put us at the worst table of the restaurant. We asked for another one and were told it was taken.. the reservation never came. Apparently because they just wanted to avoid giving it to us. The service was zero. Only one guy named Hamza (I think) was helpful. The food was average. There are better options to go to.

Wow! What an amazing experience! We did not have a reservation but Matricianella was in our list for Rome. We stopped by and asked if we could make a reservation for the same evening which they promptly did. We came by the scheduled time and the host was very kind and led us to our table. Julio was our server and he was awesome. Glass of white wine and a perfect Negroni and we had the fried artichoke and the Bresaola rughetta with parmigiano for appetizers. Main with a bottle of Montalcino red wine and we had the most delicious gnocchi ever and the pasta with funghi. What a wonderful evening!

Trattoria da Augusto in Trastevere is a traditional and straightforward osteria that offers authentic Roman dishes, including tripe and rabbit. It provides a casual and affordable dining experience with shared tables. The menu is limited to what is available that day, but you can expect classic Roman pastas such as cacio e pepe or amatriciana. Reservations are not accepted, and the wooden tables are closely packed together, making for a cozy atmosphere.
Our favorite restaurant after spending 9 days in Italy having amazing food. This is the best little family run place. We were fortunate enough to have our host recommend this place. We ate here two nights in a row!

I took one look at the old ladies in the kitchen and said, yep this is where we'll find nonna's cooking. We had traditional wholesome food that we love. My partner had the roast coniglio with garlic and rosemary. He said it was like eating his mum's cooking again. We also ordered the rigatoni and a few seasonal side dishes which were yum. They still have the squat toilets to make the experience more authentic. We loved that it was away from the loud crowds from the main area too.

The most unassuming 10/10 after a few days in Rome, just around the corner of where we’re staying. Fresh, simple, amazing. Line up, speak up, know how many people you are (in Italian) drink the house wine, and watch the world go by.

"I Supplì dei Coronari" is a cozy and lively restaurant located in Trastevere, offering a variety of regional snacks, main dishes, and desserts. The eatery is known for its specialty dish, suppli, which are fried rice croquettes filled with a rich meat and tomato sauce along with melted mozzarella. In addition to suppli, the restaurant also serves an array of fried bites and delectable pizza al taglio.
Cute little cafe to enjoy Rome traditional snack! Taste like fried risotto, pretty interesting. Taste was okay and the price is also okay.

Charming little restaurant serving the most delicious suppli. We tried the tomato and mozzarella as well as the potato and smoked cheese. Each was reasonably priced (around €3) and very filling! Staff were friendly and restaurant in lovely location!
Martha R — Google review
We came here for a sit down dinner. We tried the polpette (meatballs), ragu fettucine, and a classic suppli. The pasta was fresh and the sauce had good flavor. The polpettes (meatballs) were premade and were half cold which made it unpleasant to eat. The suppli had a nice crunchy crust, but was not very seasoned with flavor. The man running the restaurant was nice.
Jacky W — Google review
We popped for a quick lunchtime snack and were not disappointed. A small one-man shop was doing a roaring trade in these hot, crispy rice and cheese croquettes. I ordered the daily special 'Nduja spicy sausage suppli and it was delicious, my partners Cacio e Pepe looked good as well. It was busy when we popped in, and I imagine it gets busier, so be a little patient. Recommended

An amazing place for a quick bite! We love arancini/suppli and wanted to get some while in Rome. What better place than one that has suppli in the name? We saw a lot of places with suppli sitting in display cases as we walked around while this place didn’t have a display case. That’s cause they make them fresh! The few minutes wait is worth it. The suppli are SO GOOD! We went 2 days in a row. The service was great both days (and there were different employees each day) and we felt welcomed. We also loved the unique vibe of the place with the cool decorations. If we lived in Rome we would be here weekly at minimum!

Agustarello A Testaccio is a classic restaurant that has been serving locals since 1957. It's renowned for its cacio e pepe, carbonara, and rigatoni alla pajata, a dish made with the stomach lining of an unweaned calf. Located in Testaccio, a former slaughterhouse district turned trendy neighborhood, this eatery offers traditional Roman cuisine in a no-frills setting.
Friendly people and very nice food. It also has a nice outside area off the street. Wish I discovered it earlier and had an opportunity to go again. The waitress was also very accompanying in letting me practice my Italian language ‘skills’.

This place had two occupied tables at eight, and every table occupied at quarter past eight. We felt like we had stumbled onto a neighborhood secret. The prices seem very reasonable- and the pasta was delicious. We had the amatriciana and the oxtail. I think the oxtail could have had a wee bit more meat on the plate it tasted really good. The real highlight was the side of chicory which was definitely bitter but somehow still so moreish. The service is friendly but a bit slow- it took ages for our stir fried chicory to arrive after we had demolished our pasta. Would definitely go back. Reservations are recommended.

This place was recommended by the taxi driver that drove us to our hotel nearby. We landed in Rome at 7am and walked around the neighborhood for a couple hours since our hotel room wasn’t ready. Despite our best effort to kill time, we still found ourselves standing in front of the restaurant 30 minutes before their opening time. The lady who was setting up the tables was kind enough to let us sit down inside. She brought us a bottle of water and we waited until the kitchen opened at 12:30. Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the dish of the day (chicken cooked with red peppers). Even the house pour red wine was good. We will probably come back again before we leave Rome.

Good very local Roman spot for classic dishes, including plenty of offal. We tried the sausages with bacon rinds and beans which was very flavoursome. Carbonara which was okay, and mixed offal with fried onions, also flavoursome and yummy. Service was friendly and excellent. Dinner for two with 1 litre of wine and coffees was 55 euros.
Lucy B — Google review
Lovely, wonderful and authentic! We went to Augustarello two nights ago due to the good reviews - and it turned out to be one of the most amazing nights! We were immediately taken care of by two kind and honest people from the staff. The service felt authentic, committed and engaged - but in a real and honest way. The woman and the man that served us helped us with our needs and with great recommendations, even with practicing our Italian! The whole experience felt alike - authentic! Seeing the single cook in the kitchen making the most lovely food, picking up ingredients from a table placed in the serving hall just by the costumers, the local Italians gathering to eat, the luxury-looking food, the well-composed design and woody interior: created at the same a high but an intimate, familiar climate. We ordered a simple dinner for two with the house’s wine and the beautiful fruit cake to finish up - and it was without doubt enough to give us an experience we will never forget. I will definitely return as soon as I land my feet on Rome again! Grazie mille!

Checchino Dal 1887 is a refined, wood-paneled 19th-century restaurant in Rome that offers fine dining and a sweetmeat tasting menu. It is one of the oldest restaurants in Rome, with a history spanning six generations of Romans. Located in Testaccio, the city's old meat packing district, the restaurant has strong ties to the former slaughterhouse and its workers who were often paid in offal.
Wonderful experience! Excellent service with even better food. The ratio of quality and prices is excellent. We had 2 first courses, 2 second and 2 desserts (one with a historic porto) and 2 digestives. Everything was perfect and I would reccomend to try. The owner,as well as the personnel is extremely attentive to the needs of guests.

A good friend recommended that my wife and I dine here. We enjoyed the dining experience but the service was very slow in the beginning. It took about 30 minutes for the waiter to take our order. Once the order was placed, everything was fine. The wine 🍷 was delicious and reasonably priced. The appetizer was very good and my wife’s pasta was very good. I ordered the sweetbreads with organ meat and it was just ok. I really like sweetbreads but there weren’t very many and the majority of the dish were intestines which aren’t my favorite. Overall a good dining experience. When we return, I’ll order something different.

We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. Despite making a reservation months in advance for our group of 15 (we were tourists btw), we were met with hostility rather than hospitality!! The manager was unwelcoming and interacted with us in a rude and dismissive manner. When we sat outside while waiting, instead of kindly asking us to adjust the seating, he abruptly dragged the chairs in front of us without any proper communication. We strongly considered leaving but chose to stay out of respect, something the staff (manager) unfortunately did not reciprocate. Service was unprofessional and lacked basic courtesy. It’s unfortunate, especially considering the restaurant’s historic reputation. There are many other restaurants in Rome that offer better food and far more respectful service. As for the food: the carbonara was overly salty and the overall meal was underwhelming. ❗️Save yourself the time, money, and disappointment. There are far better dining options in the area.

This restaurant was the perfect choice for our last meal in Rome. It has a wonderful, authentic Roman feel. The service was fantastic; our server was attentive and knowledgeable, and it's clear they genuinely care about what they're serving. We had the Bucatini all'Amatriciana and Rigatoni al ragu, both of which were delicious, and an incredible panna cotta for dessert. Fair prices and a great experience. If you're planning to go, it's a good idea to book a table ahead of time, particularly for dinner.

0/5 - Stay away from this restaurant. The manager/resident wine sommelier (he was wearing a grey coat) was VERY RUDE to our group! We made a reservation months before our dinner. ⚠️He needs a crash course on how to treat people with respect. We were very excited to dine in this restaurant but was very disappointed with not only the food but most especially on how he treated us (we were tourists by the way) Stay away from this restaurant if possible! There are other better restaurants in Rome with better service and food quality! And true service was very slow!! WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN! WORSE EXPERIENCE IN ROME - we stayed in Rome for 2 weeks and this was the very very worse trust me ⚠️❗️

If want to eat really good local food, this place was amazing. The staff, service, and food were incredible. Our waiter was Michelangelo, and he went above and beyond to even ask if any of us were allergic to anything. He gave us great recommendations on food selection and he did not disappoint. If you want to get away from the tourist locations and just enjoy great food from friendly staff, this is the place to go. 5 stars!!!🌟

The best meal we had during our Italy trip! The waiters were very attentive and friendly to every customer. We had ravioli, carbonara, margherita pinsa, focaccia, and tiramisu. The focaccia was amazing! It was such a wonderful gesture to receive a complimentary shot of liquor and a cookie. I’d love to visit again when we come back to Italy. ❤️❤️❤️

A very cosy little restaurant in a small square under the tree shade. Food was delicious - Pinsa and Bruschette in our case and the Spritz selection is diverse and tasty. The service was very nice. The staff inquired for any allergies so they could recommend food choices that are suitable. We waited for a few minutes more than we should normally (it was less than 10 min) and the staff apologized to us and brought us some prosecco on the house to make up for the wait. Limoncello and biscuits at the end was also a nice touch. Prices are maybe a touch higher than surrounding restaurants but it's well worth it in my mind. 5/5 would recommend!

We dined here 3 times in 2 days because it was that good. A true gem in a very residential neighborhood, way better than anything we've had in central Rome. The carbonara, amatriciana and cacio e pepe were all out of this world.

Amazing service and delicious food. Wish we would have made room for some tiramisu but we stuffed our selves with the diavola and king platter. Everything was excellent, if you're in the hood it's worth a visit. Highly recommend.

Restaurant
Nannarella is a long-standing osteria in Trastevere, Rome, known for its traditional Italian dishes and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant has been serving guests since 1930 and offers three rooms on two floors as well as a veranda for al fresco dining. The menu features a rich selection of typical Roman dishes, with tonnarelli being their specialty. Visitors can enjoy pasta, pizza, seafood, and a variety of wines while taking in the charming sidewalk seating.
Be prepared to wait in line, but trust me—it’s absolutely worth it for the quality of food here. The restaurant is always bustling, and it’s easy to see why. The menu offers plenty of options, and everything we tried was delicious. Service can be a little slow, but that’s to be expected given how busy the place is. Yes, it’s popular with tourists, but don’t let that put you off—the dishes are full of flavor and well worth a visit.

Absolutely fantastic experience! The food was delicious, every dish was perfectly prepared and full of flavor, but what truly made our evening special was our waiter, Aladin. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable, almost like we were dining among friends. His recommendations for both the food and the wine were spot-on and completely matched our taste. The service (thanks to Aladin!) was exceptional: friendly, attentive, and genuine. The food is amazing, but the experience with him made it even better. Highly recommended!

Very average meal, based on the reviews we expected better. Pasta was well cooked but very salty, service was good. Ambience very loud with barely any room between tables, packed in like sardines. We would have been more disappointed if we would have had to line up for a table.

We had to wait a while to get a table, but it was absolutely worth it! The place is lively and full of character, with that classic Trastevere charm. The food was incredible — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Even though it was busy, the staff were friendly and welcoming. It’s easy to see why Nannarella is so popular. A must-try if you’re in Rome!

We had a lovely dinner at Nannarella on a Wednesday evening. We arrived around 8:30pm and were told, we had to wait for about 30 min but I think it was less than that, or at least it felt shorter. The restaurant manager was friendly and helpful. Also the waiter was attentive. The food was good and filling, we only ordered 3 pinse and a salad for four but didn’t managed to eat it all. I would definitely recommend it for an easy going dinner!

We went in around 7:00 pm, and just a few groups after us the restaurant was already full. Every dish we tried was truly delicious — not a single miss. No wonder it’s such a popular place! The highlight was definitely the tiramisu, which completely changed my idea of what tiramisu could be. By the time we left, there was an incredible crowd waiting outside — hard to believe so many people for just one restaurant! I highly recommend going before 7:00 pm to get a seat.

Even though the service was a bit slow we understood it because it was kind of crowded. The food arrived pretty fast and it was amazing. It's not overrated at all as people says, the food it is amazing. The tiramisu is one of the best ever so we recommend it. Our waiter, Sandeep was so nice to us,asking everytime if we enjoyed the food and all. 5/5 would come again

Very touristy and all reviews are based on the greasy spoon dishes served here. Misleading. It's not bae bur definitely not proper Roman cuisine that I eventually got to try in different parts of Rome. Nice run part of town though, great to walk and shop around.

Located near the Spanish Steps, Pastificio Guerra is a small shop that offers fresh and simple yet satisfying pasta dishes at a bargain price. The menu changes daily, offering authentic Roman specialties like pasta alla gricia. Despite its location in a popular tourist area, it's known for its high-quality and low-cost food, making it a favorite among locals and tourists alike.
The line is quite huge already at an opening time but moves quickly. There are two options- with pork and without for 5€ each you can also get water for 1€. A little space to eat inside and also you can’t eat on the stairs and in front of other shops(asked inside). Really good place to quickly get a meal. Would recommend

5 Euro for take out only pasta! Perfect Al dente! Fast service but take out only! Service was quick! Everything is prepared already and it was just scope into a take out container and go. The pastas can be on the harder side for some people. However, we prefer it Al dente! Credit cards accepted! Menu changes daily we believe (it was different each day were were here as of Sept 23-24 2025), there was 2 options: Pork or no pork. It seems like it's meat and no meat option. The pastas were DELICIOUS

Please God, protect this business so it gets even busier and may the owner and employees prosper 😭😭😭😭 They have been selling their pasta at a stable price since the beginning, only 5 euros. There are two menu options: with pork and without pork. The style is to order and then eat while standing. The shop is cute and they also sell dry pasta. Their pasta is very delicious 🤤

Easily the best pasta I have had in Italy. 5€ for one portion, and the portions are quite big. The staff is very nice, the place is very cozy. Definitely coming back.
Sofya K — Google review
I honestly don’t understand how this place has so many good reviews. The pasta was low quality, bland, and not tasty. We couldn’t even eat it, unfortunately. I get that it’s cheap, but everything felt cheap — from the ingredients to the preparation. It seems like people go here just because it’s affordable, not because it’s actually good. Definitely not worth trying, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for authentic or enjoyable pasta.
Amir K — Google review
Get there early. Stand in line. Order your pasta (and free wine & water if you dine-in). Stand at the counter and eat your pasta and drink your cheap wine out of a paper cup. It’s simple. Best lunch deal in Rome. Edit: this was pre Covid (2018). Now, it’s all take away (and no wine). And now they charge €1 for a cup of water? What’s the point? Go and try to eat your pasta on the famous steps and get kicked off by the tourist police. Sorry folks, the pasta party’s over. When did the world get so uncivilized?

It’s technically a small place for a quick bite/lunch. At my first time in Roma, I just visited this place, to see and taste the food. I was amazed by the quality and simplicity of this food. Just two sorts of pasta. I can recommend to anybody to try the pasta. Anybody who is saying that this is under 5 stars, they have no idea and doesn’t know to appreciate the quality, taste and simplicity of this pasta! For the owner of this place, if you are reading my my review, I want to say, thank you very much 🙏🏻

Borghiciana Pastificio Artigianale is a small but highly acclaimed restaurant known for its exceptional handmade pasta. Located conveniently near The Vatican, it's a popular spot for both tourists and locals looking for a quick and delicious lunch. Despite its compact size, the restaurant offers top-notch service and outstanding food, with their lasagna receiving particular praise.
The food is excellent and the service is too!! Don’t be put off by the queue - it is worth the wait. Our wait was around 20-25 minutes (6:40pm arrival), but we were able to pre-order while waiting which saved time. We shared a caprese salad starter, had carbonara and sausage mushroom fettucine for the main course and finished up sharing a tiramisu. All of the food was excellent and I would recommend it to everyone.

It’s a cute little restaurant that can only seat about 12 people at a time, hence there is always a line up. But the service is quick and they take your order while you wait out in line. We went to celebrate my husband’s graduation. Food was the best we had in Rome. And not a tourist trap. We had the ravioli and pesto gnocchi with the carpets salad. 5 stars for all 3 dishes.
Mal N — Google review
Best pasta (I got the one with sausage - forgot the Italian name) while my wife got the carbonara which had small crispy pork belly to match the pasta! Awesome stuff. My 2 boys had lasagna and meatballs with tomato sauce. To top it all of, we shared an order of tiramisu and caramel pana cotta. Oh yummy! Great service and a very homey atmosphere with limited seating (15 max?) Worth the wait. Or you could be early and minimize the wait time.

We found this in Google maps right after the Papal audience. We were the 2nd in line and good thing as we discovered that it was just a cozy place which can only accommodate 15(max). We ordered the artichoke, lasagna, carbonara and gnocchi gorgonzola. The food was fantastic! The best gnocchi gorgonzola I've ever tasted! All the dishes we ordered were very good! Including their tiramisu. I have saved this place in my list so when we go back to Rome, we can go back and eat there again! The staff were friendly & welcoming too! And I love the color of the hair of the waitress (violet... I wish I asked where she bought her hairdye) I will definitely go back as I already miss their food!

An overall great experience. It's a small and cozy place, which makes you feel at home. The staff are very welcoming and the food is delicious. We had the lasagne, the best one we've ever tried! The homemade tiramisu was also scrumptious. Would recommend 100% and definitely will be going back on our next trip to Rome.

These were some of the best pasta dishes we had in Rome. We ordered the roman artichoke heart for an appetizer, rigatoni, carbonara and cacio e pepe for our main dishes. Absolutely delicious. Some notes: the inside only holds ~7 tables with 2-3 people sitting at each one. There is no way to make a reservation, you show up and wait in line. The bigger the group you have, the longer the wait. However, once you get inside, your food is made fresh and fast. Definitely worth the wait.

This is hands down the absolute most stunning dish of pasta I do believe I’ve ever had in the entirety of my life! 16 days in Italy I hadn’t found a sauce that I considered as good as my Sicilian mothers sauce until I came here. Came for lunch and had to wait in line for thirty well worth it minutes. Half way into the wait they took our order so that by the time we sat in the twelve seat establishment our food was practically prepared. Perfection. I had the amatricana and I was blown away. The sauce was so fresh a little sweet and robust. The fresh pasta had that slight crunch yet absolutely tender bite. AND THE GUANCALE! I have never ever had guancale this perfect. So crispy so flavorful so just wow wow wow. I will dream of this restaurant and if I ever return to Rome I will eat here exclusively it was that amazing. Now to figure out if my mom will be flattered by how long it took or hurt that I found something better. ❣️

When visiting Rome you will spend an endless amount of time queuing up to see various must see places, here at this restaurant it’s no different. You will stand in a Que for maybe even up to an hour + outside on an uncomfortable cobble street and you will be surrounded by restaurants all with available seats and tables, BUT you must keep faith and not be succumb to temptation. Stay in that Que and I promise, you will not be disappointed. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere warm and welcoming, the staff team friendly, polite, and kind. It’s an in demand restaurant and after you eat there you fully understand why. Best of all, it’s the best quality food we have eaten in this amazing city and by far the cheapest meal too! They could easily double their prices and they don’t, the restaurant is adamant about keeping it honest, delicious and affordable for everyone. Cannot praise this place enough and cannot wait to go back again!

I've lived in Rome for over 20 years and this evening was the best dining experience I've had yet, everything was perfect. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome by the wonderful team of staff. We sat at the counter giving us a great view of the immaculate kitchen and the amazing chefs who prepared every single dish with great attention to detail, precision and love. The food is fresh, beautiful and full of incredible flavours. I can't praise this restaurant enough. Thank you to the chef/owner her two lovely daughters and the whole kitchen team for a wonderful evening. We'll see you again very soon. James & Roberta.

An instagram friendly place with little substance. We found this place when searching for alternate / fusion food in Rome Italy. The place is built into an old structure with tables at close quarters and non ergonomic seating (think wobbly tables and uncomfortable seats). The decor with fairy lights all over the place looks a bit teeny booper than homely. The place has a history of being a sandwich restaurant and has now evolved into a full fledged dining space. We ordered a portion of their foccaccia with fig jam and ham which was brilliant. We followed this with three appetizers - a tuna in dashi, a fried zucchini flower dish and a pumpkin flower mashed dish. The tuna was fresh but the fritter and pumpkin flower mash were very passable. In the mains we tried their amberjack and veal with mustard sauce. The amberjack was nothing exceptional on the flavours (non imaginative) while the veal with the over powering mustard had to be left behind un eaten. Their cocktail menu is not very creative with pretty standard fare. We tried two which were both just okay. The food was plated very beautifully but failed to impress our palates. The service was friendly but slow. We had to actually wait for 30 minutes after the first two appetizers for the next two. In my opinion the place is far too expensive for what it offers and can be given a miss.

Regoli Pasticceria is a century-old, family-owned bakery located in Esquilino Rome. The shop features arched ceilings and is renowned for its classic creme-based pastries and tarts. Locals flock to Regoli at all times of the day, particularly on weekends, to indulge in their mouth-watering pastries, with the maritozzo being a standout delicacy.
An oasis when I am waiting for my hotel manager in a super hot summer. Their Cannolo Siciliano is superb. Its wrap is crispy. The cream is not too sweet. The cream also offers a bit crunchy texture as there are some chocolate chips scattered inside. The chopped pistachios are also fresh. Their coffee fizz passion also offers a surprise in the way that it is refreshingly sour and sweet without compromising the flavour of coffee. Their ice cappuccino caramello salato also strikes a good balance between coffee, milk and salted caramel. I also tried their seafood spaghetti. Their seafood is very fresh. Their spaghetti is al dente but can be a bit soft. Their sauce is just fit. Not too salty. After all, nice pastry and summer's special from this pastry cafe. Also a delightfully delicious lunch from this cafe. The place is clean. The sunroom is spacious. The attendants are friendly and diligent. A place I would visit again when I come to Rome next time.
Bryan C — Google review
This is truly the best maritozzo in Rome. The bun is light, the cream has a lemon zest that balances everything beautifully, and the dessert isn’t overly sweet, which I see as a huge plus. In addition, the wild berry pâtissier was excellent, and I also tasted the cake with vanilla cream and chocolate crisps — it was a real celebration.

If you also like Italian cream buns, then you absolutely cannot miss this bakery. In addition to being able to choose large or small cream buns, it also offers a variety of different styles of pastries made with cream and ordinary bread. In addition, the shop is actually composed of a main bakery and a coffee shop. If you only want cream buns, you can go directly to the coffee shop to place an order and buy the coffee you want. But if you want to take away or choose other styles of pastries, you can only buy them in the bakery first and then go to the coffee shop to choose your favorite coffee. In short, this is also a must-try bakery in Rome.

Stopped at Regoli Pasticceria to try the Maritozzi, and it was definitely worth the short wait in line. Service was quick and friendly, and the pastry was fresh, fluffy, and delicious. There are plenty of other tempting options in the bakery too. Would definitely come back and recommend- so tasty!

Worth the visit. Great service. Delicious pastries. This spot was a 10min walk from my hotel and I stumbled into it one morning looking for a caffe. Ended up eating a cannoli and taking some pastries to go. The Sfogliatella was delicious, it had 2 different types of stuffing, the main being the traditional style semolina creamed mixture as well as a cannoli ricotta style. The ricotta style didn’t not have the same taste as you would except, it was creamer. Different from what I am use to but delicious!
Tom T — Google review
This was my first time trying the famous marritozzo from Regoli, and it didn’t disappoint. The brioche bun was very airy and fluffy, with a slight lemon zest to it, which I enjoyed. The whipped cream was also very light and delicious, as it wasn’t too sweet. I wouldn’t go out of the way, if you’re only in Rome for a short visit, but do recommend if you’re nearby the establishment.

The fagottini di ricotta is (no exaggeration) the best pastry I’ve had in my life! Highly recommend that one, and the wild strawberry tart is very good too. The maritozzi and cannoli were just okay in my opinion, but they seem to be really popular. Went here 2 days in a row, once at 8am and another at 10am. There was no queue at 8am but at 10am I had to wait around half an hour, so definitely try to go early.

Hosteria Grappolo d'oro is a popular restaurant located near the Leonardo Museum and Campo de Fiori in Rome. It has gained recognition for its use of locally sourced ingredients and offers a relaxed yet pleasant dining experience with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The menu features a variety of Roman dishes such as antipasti, pasta, meat, and fish, accompanied by regional wines. Reservations are recommended due to its popularity.
Hosteria Grappolo d’Oro absolutely lives up to its Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition—and then some. The food was exceptional, with every dish delivering on flavor, balance, and presentation. The mix of appetizers was a standout: beautifully varied, thoughtful, and a perfect introduction to the kitchen’s strengths. They were also happy to accommodate small changes off the menu, which added a personal touch to the experience. Service was warm, attentive, and professional, without being overbearing. Altogether, it was the kind of meal that leaves you already planning your return. An easy yes if you’re in Rome.

We had lunch here three days in a row, and the quality never once let us down. The menu always offered plenty of tempting choices, and we were never disappointed. Over those visits, we tried their fish — perfectly cooked and with nothing unnecessary — a lamb dish, starters, homemade pasta, and their cheese starter. We’d also recommend checking the board with their daily specials; they sometimes have interesting variations, and you can either ask your waiter or read it yourself. Their espresso was just amazing, so delicate yet rich and full of flavor! Everything we tried was wonderful, and our waiter was friendly and helpful in recommending wine pairing with the dishes. The whole team was warm and welcoming every time. And in August, when so many good places are closed, it’s such a bonus that they remain open for lunch.

One of our best meals in Italy! Authentic Roman food! The Carbonara was to die for! We also got an order of Cacio e pepe and it was soooo good. The pastas are the first course, and then for the 2nd course we had the most buttery, light and flaky fish of all time. They truly know how to cook at this restaurant! House wines are delish as well. If they have it, treat yourself to the homemade peach ice cream, you will not be disappointed!

We loved this little restaurant right off of Camp De' Fiori, and ate here twice during our week long visit. Fantastic pastas and classic Roman dishes, like braised beef cheek. Came across this restaurant in the Michelin food guide and also located near our hotel. Based on the reviews we were expecting good but it exceeded our expectations. We decided on the tasting menu for the full experience as were advised the portions were half size. The appetizers were incredible, if I went again we would definitely order a full portion of the meatballs 💛 soft and melted in your mouth but crispy on the outside. The different take on the panzanella was also delicious. Pasta and the portions were spot on 👌🏻 For the seconds I enjoyed the beef but my partners lamb was a standout. Definitely recommend for a true authentic experience with a twist !

Best dinner we’ve had so far in Italy, started with the Panzanella which was an amazing starter. For the main I had the Cacio e Pepe, which was the highlight of the night, so much flavour for such a simple dish. Finished with the tiramisu which was also super creamy. Great service and wine as well, glad we found this gem

I would highly recommend the Cacio e Pepe. From the first bite, you can tell that the pasta is made fresh in the restaurant and it was cooked to perfection. The meatballs in green sauce were a delicious appetizer. I was shocked by how low the prices are, considering the high quality of the food.

See below for individual dish rating. We went here because of Pasta Queen. Ordered the Porchetta Ripassata(Roman roast pork) as starter. Main: Cacio e Pepe with Truffle, Cabonara Vignarola. Dessert: Zabaione custard and dessert of the day, Baba (sponge cake with cream and top of with strawberries) Verdict: Roman roast pork:⭐️⭐️ •Nothing to shout about. Cacio e Pepe: ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ •Value for money. Thanks Pasta Queen!! Cabonara Guanciale: ⭐️⭐️ •Too salty Zabaione:⭐️⭐️⭐️ •Light and airy Baba:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ •Drizzle with rum. Taste like heaven! Service: The waiter was lack of enthusiasm in explaining the dishes. We overheard there were special dishes of the day after we placed the order, but we were not informed. Room for improvement.

Dinner was magnificent. The gentleman who told us the specials is a born salesman. His description of each dish had our mouths watering. Although we had already decided what we were ordering, his wonderful descriptions convinced us to go with 2 of the specials. The paccheri with pork cheek and fig was the perfect compliment of sweet and savory. Paccheri with sausage and crispy zucchini in a light red sauce was full of flavor and textures. Both were absolutely delicious. We also had the Roman roast pork and veal meatloaf. The pork was melt in your mouth tender and the sauce was rich. Veal meatloaf had a wonderfully mild flavor and was silky smooth with a hint of sweetness. Both dishes were phenomenal. I have to mention that their bread was absolutely the best bread we had on our 3 week trip! Service was excellent. The entire wait staff and the managers were incredibly attentive and welcoming. 5 star experience.

We booked a table for 8pm but as the dinner service opens at 7:30pm they allowed us to sit down early. This place was buzzing immediately with locals and tourists, families, couples and some solo. It was such a lovely atmosphere, I’ve also never seen a restaurant turn so many people away, I estimate at least 15 couples were turned away in the space of an hour simply because there was no space, I recommend booking. My wife and I shared a cacio e pepe for a starter, simply to try this restaurants attempt. I can say you will not be disappointed, this was hands down the best one I’ve had in Rome. For main I had traditional Roman Veal dish and my wife had a sea bass (catch of the day) special. I’ve never seen my wife devour food so quickly, I’d assumed she was just hungry but she couldn’t stop saying how delicious it was. My Veal was a little bit too fatty for my personal preference, however the flavours were very nice. On the side we had a side called ‘Caponata’? (I think) and it’s basically a sweet and sour aubergine with bread crumbs, our kind waitress says that this has origins from Sicily and this is their take on it. What I would say is that this outshine the cacio e pepe and was our favourite food of the evening, if not our trip. I will have to try and make it myself when I get home 🤞. Overall a really enjoyable evening and our most enjoyable in Rome so far, a hard place to beat!

Very quiet street, not on “Main Stream” a lot of locals dine. I guess it’s know for cacio e pepe but we tried specials and we liked it . Everything from service to food was excellent!! Sitting outside was the best !

I can not praise this restaurant high enough. We first came here in May 2023 and have returned with friends and family for both lunch and dinner. We have even sent friends when they were visiting Rome. The food is always and only seasonal dishes. The incomparable Claudia greets you like friend and family- it is a cozy unassuming restaurant that belies all the celebrity pictures from their visits. food wine service and ambiance are second to none

Nothing wrong here: food perfect, service perfect, decoration, ambiance, washrooms all perfect. I highly recommend. Reservations necessary. We arrived at 1:30 after visiting the coliseum and forum romanum and staff turned a two pax table into 4. So lucky. Also: great coffee!

ChatGPT suggested this restaurant and it did not disappoint!! We arrived at opening for lunch and we were able to get a table for 2 right away. Great experience, starting with a warm welcome following by a delicious burrata and fresh tomatoes antipasta, the pasta special for the day, followed by a lemon dessert. The Aperol Spritz was the best we’ve had so far in Rome! Absolutely delicious! Thank you for an amazing lunch.

Nestled in the heart of Rome's Jewish Quarter, Emma restaurant is a vibrant eatery that perfectly blends local flavors with a lively atmosphere. Just a stone's throw from iconic landmarks like Campo de Fiori and Piazza Navona, it's an ideal stop for travelers looking to refuel during their adventures. The menu boasts an impressive selection of homemade pasta, pizzas, meat dishes, and delectable desserts—all crafted with care using high-quality organic ingredients.
Delicious pizzas, we booked our table for 6:30 but found ourselves waiting in line for about 15 minutes to enter. This wasn't a problem as the food was very good and arrived quickly. I would recommend eating here for your authentic Italian pizza. Quick service, great food and good location.

The pizza lived up to our expectations after reading so many positive reviews. The tiramasu was the best we had while in Italy. Their outdoor seating was so cute and peaceful. We got there 10 minutes before they opened and stood in line (without a reservation) and were seated and served promptly, though it certainly seemed like they would prefer reservations are made. But, if you decide to visit last minute as we did, it is worth seeing if you can get a table!

Emma Pizzeria in Rome — apparently the place everyone raves about, and for once, the internet wasn’t lying. We ordered the white pizza with buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto, and honestly, I’m still thinking about it like it’s an ex that got away. The crust was so perfect it deserves its own Vatican exhibit. The margherita with salami? Equally amazing — I’d fight a small child for the last slice. Then came the tiramisu. I told myself I was full. The tiramisu told me I was a liar. If you’re in Rome and don’t eat at Emma, just go ahead and tell people you don’t like joy.

We ended up dining at Emma after finding most nearby restaurants fully booked for a Sunday lunch last September. The experience was pleasant overall, though not memorable. Pros: > Food was okay > Waiting time for the food was not long > Nice and spacious inside and outside - also has a lot of seating > Staff are professional and friendly Cons: > With a few improvements on the food, it could truly stand out. > It took a while for our bill to come.
Lish P — Google review
If you’re looking for authentic Roman style pizza, Emma Pizzeria is a must visit. The crust was thin and perfectly crispy, just the way Roman pizza should be. The tomato sauce was vibrant and fresh, and the mozzarella was high quality and full of flavor. A great place to enjoy a classic Roman meal.

The food is solid. However, despite requesting in Italian one of the very open tables al fuori (outside) with appropriate manners, we were relegated to the inside basement which was populated exclusively by Americans. Apparently they segregate Nationally… which, I get (US isn’t amazing rn) but we wished to dine in the nice evening air. The hostess wouldn’t hear of it and as the place was recommended by a friend, we acquiesced. The food was solid but… after a pleasant day and a half of earning Italian courtesy with near fluency, it sucked to sit with the obtuse Americans also dining

Italian restaurant
LUCIANO Cucina Italiana in Rome is a charming bistro-style restaurant located near Campo de' Fiori. The restaurant offers small, simple, and informal dining rooms as well as outdoor seating in a delightful small piazza.
I’m not sure why LUCIANO Cucina Italiana has such a low Google rating, because for us, it was one of the best meals of our entire trip in Italy. If we had skipped this place, it would’ve been a real regret. We ordered their signature Carbonara and the Pasta of the Day, and both dishes were outstanding. The Carbonara was unlike any version I’ve had before — at first, the flavor felt mild and subtle, but once combined with the guanciale, it transformed into something deeply rich and memorable. The texture of the pasta was perfect, and the balance of the sauce was exceptional. It’s easily one of the few dishes from this trip that I genuinely want to have again. The staff initially seemed a bit distant, but once I mentioned that I came after seeing a Korean YouTuber’s video about the restaurant, they became very warm and cheerful, sharing a few laughs with us. Overall, LUCIANO Cucina Italiana offered an impressive mix of refined flavors, genuine Roman character, and friendly service. It’s a restaurant I would definitely return to on my next visit to Rome.
Dave — Google review
Just wow, these pastas were among the best during our trip to Rome and so were the rest of the dinner as well. I was so impressed I went there for lunch one day and dinner the next. The service was great the first time when it was a bit slower and not as many people, the helped a lot with both recommendations and opinions on wine. The second time there were more people and more stressful for the servers. I would recommend anyone to go there and try their food, it is worth the higher prices.
Gustav L — Google review
Nice place for some good pasta. My wife had heard that their carbonara is among the best in Rome, so we decided to give it a try. We were seated quickly, but unfortunately waited about 20–30 minutes before anyone came to take our order. When the waiter finally arrived and asked, “Are you ready?”, I couldn’t help but laugh — we’d been ready for quite a while! 😅 That little hiccup aside, the staff were friendly and the service improved afterwards. The food was good — tasty and well presented, but not particularly exceptional. Would I come back? Not sure. It’s a nice spot overall, but there are so many great options in Rome that I’d probably try somewhere new next time.
VIC — Google review
I’ve been a loyal customer of Luciano’s for four years and always bring my visitors here for the carbonara. It deserves far more than its current rating, as the food is consistently excellent. While some may find it pricier than the usual €10-12 versions, the quality and generous amount of real guanciale (not pancetta) make all the difference. In my opinion, this is one of the best carbonaras in Rome, executed to perfection every single time.
Flavia G — Google review
We managed to get a table as a walk in, however it is probably better to reserve as it’s a very popular spot! We were seated at the pass so we had a great view of the chefs at work. The carbonara was delicious, the best pasta of our trip! We also had tiramisu that was great and a clever chocolate disc in the middle. This was a lovely stop in a hectic day in Rome!

Incredible experience. Best Carbonara in Rome. Absolutely delicious, you must come here if you visit Rome and you like eating great food. Desserts were delicious (especially the tiramisu). Service and attention from the people working there was awesome!

This place just do good execution of the carbonara pasta. The rest is just ok. We arrived with reservation, the place has a cocktail bar. We decide to get a cocktail. The negroni was ok, the limoncello spritz wasn't good. We ordered the tartar with truffles, the tartar was good but the truffles were not doing anything on the dish, not sure if the truffle was old, no aroma, no flavour. Wasn't bad, but 20€ for an entree with truffles I would expecting more. Then the star of the night, the carbonara. Is incredible. Good creamy, amazing taste, nice amount of guanciale. This is worth it every cent. My recommendation, go there for the carbonara. No need to order anything else. Luciano is a genius of the pasta. But the rest of the menu seemed nothing especial and after check the reviews and taste it. Is overpriced for all the other items, but the carbonara is worth it.

Restaurant
Trattoria Da Danilo is a cozy and rustic trattoria located in the Esquilino neighborhood of Rome. It exudes a nostalgic and family-friendly atmosphere with its checkered tablecloths, handwritten blackboard menu signs, and traditional Roman dishes. One of their unique offerings is the cacio e pepe, where tonnarelli, olive oil, pepper, water, and pecorino are mixed inside a large pecorino romano cheese before being served.
They refused me twice due to capacity, but the one experience I had there was amazing! Pasta with bacon, cheese and pistachio sauce! One of the best pasta I ever had. It is possible to pay by card, but there are no towels on toilet.

A nice restaurant with upstairs and downstairs table cloth tables that are intimately spaced. The establishment has been visited by several well known celebrities. The owner/manager was not as friendly as the waiting staff. The fried lamb was unusually breaded and not tasty like lamb typically is served. The Carbonara is highly recommended as some of the best you can experience. The Tiramisu is moderately good and too creamy. The atmosphere is decorated with pictures of actors and sport celebrities that have attended in the distant past. Dishes are reasonably priced and valued. If there are 4-6 in your party you will eat upstairs and 3 or less you will likely eat downstairs in the basement with no natural lighting.

Overall, if you’re looking for an off the beaten track feel of a place not far from the Colosseum, you found it here. Great starter meal in Rome but not a note to finish on. We had the carbonara which had a nice flavor but no hand made noodles. The oxtail was good but was not fork tender the sauce had great flavors. Felt like they put the tourists in the basement with no AC will upstairs was filled with locals nicely chilled 😩

Very popular with locals. We were lucky to score a table without a reservation. Carbonara is one of the best in Rome, if not the best. I'd recommend just going with the house wine.

Our first night in Rome we had the pleasure of visiting Da Danilo! It was recommended by a friend who is a Roman native and it didn’t disappoint. The zucchini flowers were recommended by the staff and they were so flavourful! I thoroughly enjoyed the carbonara, it was one of the best I’ve ever tasted and I don’t think it will ever be beaten! I wish we could have gone for a second time but I will be back 100% the next time I visit Rome! We arrived 5-10 mins before opening so we’re very lucky to get a great table without a reservation. You won’t ever regret eating at Da Danilo!

One of the best restaurants we visited during our journey through Italy. It was crowded with locals and we weren't sure if the staff was quite happy to have us, since tourism in Rome can be annoying. Yet, they were welcoming and brought us excellent food for reasonable prices.

Best carbonara. This Restoraunt been selected one out of 4 others Restoraunt in Rome for best carbonara competition. It means a lot!!!We were brought to this place by our roman friends and their love to carbonara pasta. We had an amazing lunch. We had tried toasted ox tail , mozzarella with grilled artichoke, and lamp chops. Service was very good and also on top. I would highly recommend this place for truly carbonara pasta and good ,tasty meat.

Italian restaurant
Pierluigi is a renowned restaurant in Rome, known for its fresh Italian seafood and elegant ambiance. Since its establishment in 1938, it has been frequented by both locals and celebrities, including Barack Obama, Jude Law, Mark Zuckerberg, Charlize Theron, and Jensen Ackles. The restaurant's central location makes it a highly sought-after venue. It offers an American Cocktail Bar and continually adapts its upscale cuisine to meet the evolving preferences of its clientele.
We stopped by the restaurant for cocktails but couldn’t resist ordering oysters as well — the seafood counter in the lobby looked too tempting to pass up. The cocktails were excellent, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere in the lobby bar. Highlights: Wonderfully kind and attentive staff, delicious oysters and starters, and a cocktail list that managed to be both inventive and classic at the same time. Room for improvement: It would be nice to have an area for guests who come “just for drinks” outside of the lobby, as the fish aroma was quite noticeable there.

It's super romantic when we came at 7pm, there weren't much people. Service staff seemed to be all professional and nice. We wanted the vongole pasta because it was mostly recommended on google review but sadly it wasn't available. The pasta we had was abit undercooked and hard but mind you we were aldy jetlag and hungry so we quickly finished our plates. Food overall was delicate but not mind-blowing to be honest. I'd come again for just oysters and wine to soak up the atmosphere but perhaps nothing more.
Piqa G — Google review
We had a very disappointing experience here, especially since this was our last dinner in Rome. Like a prior reviewer said, maybe we weren’t dressed smartly enough, but the service was incredibly cold toward us, while visibly warm and attentive to everyone around us. The food was good, but nothing mind blowing (dessert and wine photos omitted). To top it off, it took 15 min to have the bill dropped off, and another 20+ min to get the card machine (and we had to actively call our server over to remind him). For a €440 meal, I expect top notch service, not what we received.
Dave L — Google review
Food and service were stunning. All the flavors in each dish were so well balanced and well displayed. Probably best meal I have had in my life. Tempura was super fresh and fried in olive oil leave a wonderful taste and was seasoned with the perfect amount of salt. The zucchini gnocchi was very delicious and refreshing perfect amount of saltiness and the sauces were a perfect pairing with the gnocchi. Our last dish was absolutely immaculate and probably the best steak I have had in my life.
Sierra B — Google review
This has to be one of my favorite, if not favorite places to eat in Roma. The food was absolutely outstanding, especially the fresh seafood, there were numerous varieties to choose from and preparation methods. We spent almost 2.5 hours there and the dishes were spread out in perfect segments, we weren't rushed at all. The wine list was extensive and one of our servers recommended two bottles of amazing regional wines that we enjoyed. If you get a chance to downstairs to have a look at one of there dining rooms that contain a beautiful collection of amazing wines. I believe this section of the restaurant is open during the fall and winter months. Overall the lunch was expensive, but we enjoyed several dishes and a few bottles of wine and it was worth every Euro and it tasted amazing along with impeccable service!
Max B — Google review
The food was amazing, and the service was brilliant. We did however feel uncomfortable by someone pacing, when asking whether we needed to leave the table the waiter told us the owner needed the table (the man pacing and staring). It did put a rush on our evening and make us feel a bit weird after we had booked 2 months in advance and were just having a starter and main. Can't fault the food though, it was exceptional. Great for gluten free.
Grace B — Google review
Some restaurants serve food, while others serve moments. Pierluigi likely is the latter. This classic restaurant in the heart of Rome is the perfect blend of style and comfort, a hallmark of Italian design. The sound of soft laughter, crystal clinking, and the rhythm of life itself fills the air. Each plate feels like a love letter to Italian culture: simple, soulful, and perfectly balanced. The seafood is delicate, the pastas are made with care, and the wine list tells its story of the Mediterranean sun. But what makes Pierluigi so special is the atmosphere, the golden hour glow, when Rome slows down just enough for you to feel its heartbeat. You do not simply dine here; you are a part of this place, even if only for a single night.
Santiago R — Google review
Pierluigi in Rome completely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we sat down, the staff made us feel like family. The owner even came out to greet us, and we spent part of the evening laughing and sharing stories with the servers. The level of service was unmatched; they literally had staff dedicated to watching tables to make sure guests had everything they needed, whether it was a drink refill or extra condiments. The food was absolutely incredible. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, the kind of place where you just want to stay and soak it all in. It was the perfect way to end our two-week vacation and truly one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Pierluigi is a must-visit in Rome

Osteria Chiana is a great local restaurant that offers an energizing menu of Roman classics. The dishes are always exciting, with seasonal favorites like the breaded lamb cutlet served with fried artichokes being especially noteworthy. The tiramisu is also a must-try, and the staff is always polite and willing to assist you in any way possible.
One of the better meals we had in Rome. The food was very good. The rigatoni alla gricia was amazing and my dinner was great as well. The service was very good and was friendly to us. Definitely recommend for a great Roman meal.

I found this gem after reading an article on Condé Nast Traveler. This restaurant doesn’t disappoint. We arrived a few minutes after they opened; the place was already filled with locals. I enjoyed my lunch eating outside in the second half of October. Located in Quartiere Trieste between Corso Trieste and Via Salaria this place offers rather good food at a reasonable price. Try the main dishes of the Roman cuisine: amatriciana, cacio e pepe, gricia and carbonara. Also very good as a starter fried Bucce di Patate.

Pleasantly surprised! We stumbled upon this restaurant on our neighborhood walk and every dish did not disappoint. Everything was phenomenal!

We had two pasta dishes here, meatballs and fennel gratin. The pasta dishes had relatively watery sauces, with limited flavour; the meatballs were good and the fennel was very good. The service was actively bad. Waiters left as quickly as possible once putting plates down, leaving us without cutlery, and two of them ignored us when we came for our reservation. Overall, underwhelming.

We visited the Osteria Chiano during a recent trip to Rome. We were staying at the nearby Hotel Buenos Aires. We had a table booking for early on a Sunday night. When we arrived there was already a nice atmosphere. We were shown to our table and given the food and drinks menus. The waitress then explained the daily specials board to us in English. I ordered a bottle of the Fallwind Sauvignon which was excellent. I had the asparagus fritada and my wife had the melon and prosciutto ham. Both of the dishes were well presented and tasted very nice. The wife’s starter was a huge portion. I had a pasta with mushroom dish next. My wife had the fillet beef steak. The steak was a good size and perfectly cooked. The pasta dish was well cooked and most enjoyable. We both had a really lovely meal and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Great value for money too.

To all the negative reviews, it’s a price point problem I get it. Execution is spot on - every dish here is perfectly executed. Flavors on point - if you think Italian, this is it. Service - Italian, exactly as expected. House wine, burrata, lamb, anchovies, carbonara — all perfect. If you think differently you need to rethink your review. This is Italian. And it’s perfect. Get the wild strawberry tart. If you don’t know what that is, don’t go here. @Anne Mohan thank you for sticking to your guns.

Really nice food, especially the truffle pasta and strawberry cake. Service is efficient. Menu is large so there are plenty of options. Pricing is higher compared to other restaurants, which in my opinion is fine, it’s your choice to dine there. What I didn’t like is after you pay they make you leave a cash tip after - not something I have experienced in Europe before and it felt a bit sneaky…

Got the tasting menu - fantastic value. All dishes we're good and appealing. Highlights we're the veal cheeks, veal tongue and risotto... I had an amazing evening. An advice from a music lover: Give the music the same attention as the food. Miles, Coltrane, Adderley and all the other jazz legends that filled the speakers don't deserve the elevator versions that played when I was there :-)

We choosed the seasonal menu which they changed probably every three months with fresh ingredients. Just go there and try they will surprise you how amazing the foods are!
