Biscottificio Artigiano Innocenti is a long-standing, family-run patisserie located in the charming neighborhood of Trastevere. This bakery has been operated by four generations of women in the Innocenti family and is renowned for selling some of the best biscotti in Rome. The cookies are authentically Italian, with a crisp and light texture meant for dipping in tea or enjoying at breakfast.
Great little cookies and treats! Gentlemen working was happy to tell us about them all and spoke great English. Got a bag of about 2 fistfuls for 7 USD
Patrick M — Google review
The best cookie bakery in the city. Plus, the nice lady gave me some free cookies because I complimented her yellow oven. It’s a beautiful oven (and delicious cookies).
Bob — Google review
If you want to remember your childhood and your mother's/grandmother's cookies, then this is the perfect place! Delicious and varied cookies, too bad they didn't display the name of each one, to make it easier when ordering (for us tourists). A few blocks away we discovered another bakery, where they serve other types of Italian cookies (cannoli, maritozzo, tiramisu).
Isabella R — Google review
We ordered one cookie of each kind, and honestly none of them surprised me. They are cookies with a chewy, sticky dough (I thought they would be cookies with a finer texture). They are all very similar; I think it’s more about the bakery’s long-standing history than the actual flavor and texture of the cookies themselves.
Eduardo R — Google review
We came here during a local food tour and sampled several biscotti, each delicious and delightful
Abdullah — Google review
Good experience…..I tried 10 different types of biscuits…..each one with a very distinctive taste….also price very fair (4-5 EUR).
Manucsn — Google review
Tried several different kinds and they remind me of the cookies my Nonna used to make. Not overly sweet, flavorful and delicious. I saved two to bring home to my parents even though I wanted to keep them all to myself :).
M L — Google review
Food weighed per KG rather than individual pricing makes buying from here nice and easy. The biscotti that they sell are delicious, I would highly recommend trying one of each of what they sell. It is not going to cost a lot as they are mostly small bites. We bought from here then had the pleasure of having more from our Eating Europe Rome food tour.

Antico Forno Roscioli is a renowned bakery and deli that has been serving up delicious treats since 1972. This family-run establishment combines traditional baking methods with modern flair to create some of the city's most beloved breads, pastries, and pizzas. The comforting aroma of freshly baked goods welcomes visitors as they step inside this historic venue. The bakery is famous for its signature sourdough bread and thin-crust Roman-style pizzas topped with fresh ingredients.
We had an Airbnb nearby in our stay in Rome, so we decided to check out Antico Forno Roscioli around 10 AM after finding good Google reviews on it. Thankfully, there was no line when we arrived, and we were able to walk right in. The place has a reputation for being busy, but going in the morning seemed to help us avoid the crowds. The staff was welcoming and efficient, and the atmosphere felt both lively and local. While most people come for the pizza, we were surprised by the variety beyond that. The counter was full of fresh breads, pastries, and other baked goods that looked just as tempting. It’s easy to get carried away if you’re hungry, especially since everything is sold by weight and beautifully displayed. Even so, prices were reasonable, and it was a fun way to sample a bit of everything. The staff made the process easy, offering English descriptions and helping us navigate the options without feeling rushed. Whether you’re grabbing a few slices or just picking up fresh bread or a sweet pastry, it’s worth stopping in—especially if you’re staying nearby and can beat the crowds.
Leon J — Google review
There’s a reason there’s so much hype around Roscioli. The bakery is superb. It feels like most people come for the pizza (it was delicious) but the breads and pastries all looked delicious too. One of the culinary highlights of our trip to Rome. If you walk past and there’s a queue, join it. You’ll be queuing for 5 mins at most and it’s inevitably much better than many other places in Rome
Daniel D — Google review
The sweet is better than savoury. Not sure why I haven’t seen many people talk about the sweet pastries. The fig tart was really good. The custard wasn't overly sweet and it paired well with the base. The base biscuit was very soft and crumbly, more like a soft cookie rather than a typical hard tart base. The ventaglio was also quite good, it was a pastry version of the butterfly cookie and not too sweet either. The chilli pizza slice was good, the olive oil on it was quite good, not too oily or heavy. But nothing super special. The ham sandwich with lettuce was eh. The lettuce on it tasted weird.
Bella R — Google review
Honestly truly worth the hype and queue outside. Excellent pizza al taglio with a variety of toppings and pizza bianca made to order. The base is nicely crisp with a pillowy dough, all fresh produce and Roscioli-made ingredients. Pizza Burrata is essential and Pizza Bianca con Mortadella is also excellent (very high quality deli meats). Go before lunch rush (12 pm) to beat the queue, but it moves fairly quickly anyway. Service is understandably curt because of how busy it gets, just know what you want and order right away.
M — Google review
Definitely worth the stop!! This is the cutest, most authentic feeling little Italian bakery/deli/pizza spot. It's very small inside with a whole lot of people trying to place orders. Kind of chaotic. Outside there r a couple tables against the building with a few chairs. Definitely not a lot of seating, but it's possible. Pastries & fresh breads look delicious and barely out of the oven, but we didn't try those. Did get a few different salami sliced up for snacking later & those were wonderful. Also got some pizza slices, which they warmed & we ate outside. Like most other quick pizza spots, they cut a portion off the large pizza and then after warming it slice it into smaller pieces. This places cuts very large pieces so if ur not super hungry or want to try a few types, might want to ask for a smaller portion. This shop was also more expensive than others, but we really enjoyed the atmosphere and flavor of it. Also, Roscioli has a coffee shop down the street so make sure you go to the correct location.

DELICIOUS! I’ve been wanting to come here per recommendation from friends and was so happy to make it. Got in a little before 8 am, no line. We ordered ourselves 2 variants of a cream filled pastry, pistachio and Nutella- not sure what it is, but crunchy texture, plenty of filling, absolutely delightful! Could not help but order some pizza. Not sure if it they have rotating options but we got one each of the ham and potato. Both were amazing, potato had a beautiful rosemary flavor, both perfectly salty. And of course, a croissant … :) cornetto …. And of course it was just as fantastic as everything else… The people were lovely! I could not contain my delight and the man checking us out was happy to see it, haha. We left very cheerful and excited. We plan on picking up some snacks for when we hit the road again ❤️

We lined up here for a quick morning bite in Rome. It's worth the try for a grab-and-go. Pros: > Has a variety of classic Italian breads from savory to sweet > We tried a few pizzas, which were really good > Even with a line, service moves at a decent pace—ordering and getting your food doesn’t take too long. Cons: > There is not enough seating so can be a hassle to eat while standing outside. > It can get very busy and crowded.
Lish P — Google review
We went in there after watching them on few videos by some bloggers. The bakery is already rich in heritage and deep rooted in the heart of the Jewish Ghetto. The thin crust pizzas were an extension of the expression 'la Dolce Vita'. There is so much flavour in their sauce and the crispy crust is dangerously enjoyable. My favourite was the one with shredded bufala mozzarella and the grilled peppers. Thank you for making our day special! 🫶🏽

Bakery
Forno Campo de' Fiori is a well-established bakery offering a variety of traditional sweet and savory baked goods as well as slices of pizza. Despite the bustling atmosphere in the central piazza, their simple yet delicious pizza by the slice is a must-try. The bakery offers different toppings such as tomato sauce, salt and olive oil, zucchini flower, anchovy, and mozzarella.
Amazing! The service is super fast, and the food is amazing, at a fair price. I got the sandwich pizza with mortadella, ruccola e parmigiano. They heat it up at the moment. It truly was amazing!! There are no tables or seats, just a little table on the wall where you can put your beverage
Maqui B — Google review
An excellent, thin crust, take-away pizza!! We shared the red pizza and the Margherita. Fresh, quality ingredients, and crispy crust! And I loved that you could watch the pizzas being made as you ordered. My only complaint is that we had to eat the pizza at an Irish pub nearby because the pizza place was take-away only.
Michelle — Google review
I had the mortadella focaccia and the bread tasted fresh. The flavors were extremely simple, with a focus on the freshness of the ingredients. I also had their ragu suppli and it was the highlight for me. Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside!
Abdullah — Google review
One of my favourite panini spots in the city! Always the freshest, tastiest ingredients and the bread is always perfectly crisp and doused in high quality olive oil. Highly recommend the simple mortadella panino and any of the vegetarian options but especially the one with zucchini, tomatoes and grated provolone. Sweet, ripe tomatoes are such a treat when in Italy. Definitely get your panini to take away and sit on the edge of the nearby fountain in the piazza to enjoy them in the sun.
Jules D — Google review
IlForno in Campo de’ Fiori has been a staple for us whenever we’re in Rome, and more often than not, we find ourselves visiting multiple times a day. It’s the ultimate spot for what we call “walkie-talkie pizza”—fresh, crispy, and absolutely delicious slices perfect for grabbing on the go while soaking in the energy of the piazza. Since 1970, this bakery has stayed true to its roots, never compromising on quality or tradition. Every bite reflects the care and skill of the bakers who craft their pizzas and breads daily, using the best ingredients—rigorously extra virgin olive oil, high-quality butter, and rich, flavorful toppings. There are no shortcuts here, just pure, honest flavors that have stood the test of time. Whether it’s the classic pizza bianca, the irresistible pizza rossa, or any of their other specialties, Il Forno never disappoints. The aroma alone is enough to draw you in, and once you’ve had a taste, you’ll likely be back for more (as we always are). A true Roman institution and an absolute must for anyone in the area!
I. M — Google review
Another top-tier Roman bakery. Their pizza al taglio (pizza by the slice) is excellent. A great way to end the Roman food experience.
Nika K — Google review
We did a food tour and this place was our 2nd stop. The pizza blanco and pizza margherita were excellent. The bread was crispy, fresh, and not too heavy. Our first taste of a traditional Italian bakery did not disappoint.
Norman L — Google review
I came at 8.30am and no long queue. I got my focaccia and pizza al taglio… both are still warm and was soooooo good. The focaccia is the best, it’s crunchy but soft.

This charming gelateria and pastry shop is a haven for both raw food enthusiasts and dessert lovers alike, offering an array of rich chocolates crafted from the finest organic ingredients.
Small sweets shop making vegan dreams come true. Small seating area, friendly staff spoke English and the most delicious treats. Well worth the higher prices for the taste, craftsmanship and quality. Highly recommend! I’m still dreaming of the salted caramel gelato
Jenna — Google review
Ordered the almond, pistachio, chocolate and hazelnut scoop of ice cream. All vegan, all tasted amazing. It’s really refreshing to see no artificial flavourings and colourings. These colours are normal, but the flavours were REAL, it is what you want from an ice cream. Definitely one of the best ice cream spots in Italy. I also ordered a coconut/pineapple/date shake too. Really refreshing.
Hussain A — Google review
We visited Grezzo Raw Chocolate and tried their ice cream and a hazelnut dessert called “Emblema.” The ice cream was really nice, smooth and rich in flavour. On the other hand, the hazelnut dessert was a bit too intense for me. The hazelnut taste was very strong, and after a few bites, it became overwhelming. Still, it's a good spot if you enjoy vegan, raw, rich desserts and want to try something different.
Yagmur I — Google review
Grezzo was such a nice little shop! My husband and I both had the mandorla con café (with their own espresso in the flavor). It was incredible, so creamy and the perfect amount of sweetness. The woman working was so helpful when it came to picking out truffles to take with us. The chocolate was rich, decadent and the perfect amount of sweetness. We only wish we discovered this place before our last day in Rome. 1000/10, would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet ice cream shop in a beautiful Piazza.

Panificio Passi is a classic local bakery located in the heart of Testaccio, offering traditional artisan bread and biscuits following the old Roman tradition. The inviting aroma from their oven will guide you to this authentic neighborhood shop where you can find freshly baked breads, focaccia, cold cuts, cheese, and suppli - a popular street food in Rome.
An authentic local panificio serving pre-prepared goodness. We stumbled upon a Pangiallo Romano (a Roman Christmas cake similar to a panforte). It looked odd but was extremely tasty. Grazie.

This is the type of food experience i travel for. Authentic, traditional, like a time capsule. I was the only tourist and you could tell everyone else was a local regular. You can get your breakfast lunch and dinner here. Ciuri Ciuri is a Sicilian pasticceria and gelateria located in the heart of Rome. Since its opening in 2007, it has become a popular spot for those seeking authentic Sicilian treats. The highlight of this establishment is its cannoli, which are freshly filled with sweetened ricotta just before serving, ensuring a light and crisp pastry shell.
Ciuri Ciuri was a great spot to stop for a delicious treat and a coffee. Their cannoli was absolutely delicious—crispy shell and a creamy, flavorful filling that was just perfect. The service was fantastic as well, making for a very pleasant experience. If you're looking for a great coffee and an amazing cannoli, this is the place to go!

We were looking for something light for lunch and the name caught our 👁️. They serve pastries, coffee (of course) and gelato too. The food all looked delicious and we wanted to try more but there is a limit to the tummy space. The place is a bit tight and really needs some squeezing around. But we has a good lunch nonetheless .

WORST FOOD AND SERVICE IN ROME! The food was really bad and they took 25 minutes to bring their "american food" which the juice was not fresh AT ALL, the bacon was very disgusting and they put a reall tiny portion of scra eggs. I pay 18€ for nothing! Never go there!
Ananda H — Google review
Everything we had there was genuinely disgusting, pizza, and ice cream. Fries are okay. They mistake my order and bring me a small beer instead of a pint It's been fixed by bringing me the same beer diluted with water. Yeah, I've noticed the colour has changed. It tastes pretty okay tho. I wasn't that brave enough to try that whipped cream they had.
Walter M — Google review
Try other places on this street. Stopped for a cannoli and was charged maximum price. There are three sizes and prices on the menu and we were not offered the options. Flavor was ok but nothing special. Wish I looked up reviews before stopping.
Curtis W — Google review
The café had a relatively clean space, and the pastries—especially the croissants and doughnuts—were decent. The staff weren’t particularly friendly or unfriendly; just average. One good thing was that it wasn’t too crowded. Overall, it was an okay experience—not bad, but not impressive enough to make me want to go back. Just a pretty average place.
Mohammad K — Google review
terrible food, the sponge of my tiramisu tasted like cardboard and the bottom was incredibly liquidy, and had a strange taste. worst of all there was a piece of METAL wire in it!!! had to spit it out of my mouth. ice cream didn’t taste good either, coffee was okay.

Zia Restaurant, located at Via Goffredo Mameli 45, is a sophisticated and intimate venue that offers creative and delicious dishes. The restaurant's interior design combines clean Scandinavian lines with delicate hints of Roma, creating an elegant atmosphere for diners. Named after chef Antonio Ziantoni, the restaurant boasts a seasonal menu that reflects true culinary refinement. With only 30 covers, Zia provides an exclusive dining experience in the Trastevere area.
Extremely good 1* restaurant, & a very good value. They acommodated my pescetarian wife perfectly and let us do two different menus that we shared, which is always a huge bonus, getting to try twice as much. Very casual vibe, great music playing (Burial, Four Tet, etc). 6 dishes added to my list of best things I've ever had: the pork belly, the oyster (!!), the sweetbreads, the mackerel, the spiny lobster (!!), the flan for two. $170/person, 24/20 score, priced great ($70 cheaper than EL Ideas, another 1* in Chicago, which was similarly good).

423euros for 2 people, for a tasting menu of 7 steps (plus 2 desserts) & wine paring with 1 sparkling, 2 whites, 1 orange and 1 rosso. My first experience in a 1* Michelin star restaurant and a great one. Don't have much to compare with but it was overall an astounding experience. I do have to say only 3 plates had a real "wow" feeling, but all of them were greatly enjoyable.
Anibal M — Google review
Starting off, many reviews have said its bitter often, that's true, I happen to be from a part of Europe this is common and I liked it, but if you don't you may struggle. The courses were all good and a couple truly excellent, there was maybe only one thing right at the start we thought was rather average. Our server was Lucia (or something like that sorry if its wrong) who was lovely and explained everything well in english for us. The atmosphere is pretty standard, not wow but very comfy. Overall a very enjoyable 1* experience perhaps a little on the expensive end even for a Michelin resturant :)
Viper X — Google review
Food was mostly delicious except for a few outlayers (cold pasta dish did not work for us, as well as the lobster dish which was messy but interesting). The desserts were tasty but very trivial which is unexpected frim a place like this and arevthe main reason for the 4\5 stars. Wine pairing was mostly very good though to me the rosé wine did not compliment the dishes and was generally not a memorable wine. Service was perfect and kind, atmosphere was modern, pleasant and clean.

Chef Antonio of Zia, and his crew led by Valentina in front, plus masterful chefs in the kitchen is a memorable dreamy journey of the best tastes of Roman, Lazio, and global cuisine. Spectacular to your eyes, and tantalizing for your taste buds, highly recommend a visit to celebrate anything speical, or just to immerse in his expertise. Grazie mille Chef !

I honestly don’t understand how this restaurant holds two Michelin stars. The five-course menu featured two fish dishes back to back, both dry, skimpy, and uninspired. Especially when they had other proteins on the menu that could have added variety. (The ravioli were good) The lower-level seating felt like a dungeon: hot, airless, and completely lacking atmosphere. Service was professional but cold, polished without warmth or charm. Overall, the experience felt clinical and joyless. Definitely not worth the hype (or the stars). 👎
Insiders L — Google review
Let me start by saying this was my second visit to the restaurant. My first time was in 2021, and it was a fantastic experience. Four years later, we decided to return and chose the five-course menu with wine pairing. The atmosphere felt rather unusual: the music was extremely quiet, giving the impression of entering a cathedral. We were seated on the upstairs sofa area, where the tables were, in my opinion, uncomfortably close to one another. The appetizer was the same as four years ago—which was great. The aged meat was delicious, and the mozzarella was full of flavour. The issues began with the first course: oysters, tendons, and hazelnut. While the concept was bold, the execution lacked balance. The dish was overly salty with a long, unpleasant aftertaste. Definitely not something I would recommend. The second appetizer, grilled mackerel, had perfectly cooked fish, but the flavour was far too sweet, overwhelming the dish. I know other reviews disagree, but that doesn’t change my experience of the plate. For pasta, we had cappelletti in hen broth. It was good but not remarkable. The pasta was cooked perfectly, though the broth could have been less intense. The main course was quail served two ways—grilled and slow-cooked. Again, nothing exceptional. The slow-cooked portion was tender and appetising, but the grilled piece, meant to be eaten with the hands, was coated in the same overly sweet flavour as the mackerel. Because we were celebrating a birthday, we were offered a full vanilla flan Parisien. It was similar to what you’d find in Paris, but felt disproportionately large compared to the earlier portions. It was good, though it could have used a couple more minutes in the oven. We finished dinner with a simple gelato. The wines were the pleasant surprise of the evening. The pairing was excellent; even when we didn’t enjoy a dish, the wine made sense with it, and it was clear there had been thoughtful research behind the choices. What felt off was the staff’s behaviour. They seemed far more attentive to the next table—a single man taking photos and notes. It felt as though they were worried he might be a food critic or blogger and focused their attention on him accordingly. The staff was friendly, but not fully welcoming. After we paid, we were left to walk out on our own, and no one bothered to hold the door—something small, but appreciated in a restaurant of this level. Thank you Zia for putting the efforts, not every meal is perfect. I will try again in a couple of years.

Food was really good but a little bit dry the pizza with mushrooms. Although the service was amazing for a store we had our pizza directly to the table. Atmosphere was a normal store with bread but the fact inaccettabile is that there are two big trash cans near the store. But all the rest highly recommended! 👍🏻

Friendly staff, normal prices, small pastries and pizzette were good but unfortunately I thought the bread was very bad! The kind of tasteless foamy stuff you find sold as "Italian bread" in American supermarkets. But maybe some people like that? I would say I just got the wrong kind but we tried several kinds. Would return for things other than bread.

Nestled in the heart of Rome, Il Cantuccio is a delightful homage to the traditional Tuscan treat known as Cantucci. The atmosphere at Il Cantuccio is warm and inviting, perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. Diners rave about the excellent meat dishes and flavorful side options that complement their meals beautifully.
It took us a bit to find the place. There are signs on the front for something else. Glad we did find it though. The food was amazing. Service was great. Open clean place. Perfect little hidden gem with delicious sweet treats. It's a must if you are in the area. The treats are just as amazing as they look. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. They were out of hot chocolate and the owner went out of his way to make a few cups for our kids. Price is very reasonable for the quality and presentation.

Exceptional patisserie. We had the Tiramisu and Sicily. So beautiful, almost too beautiful to eat! They tasted even better than they looked. Chilled area at the back where you can sit and enjoy the little masterpieces. Definitely worth a visit if you are near the Vatican
Caitlin Z — Google review
The profiterole was great. Outside ganache was super rich and tasty, also the vanilla filling was amazing. I asked to eat inside and was given a wooden spoon, and the dessert was on top of a square small dish on top of a round cheap paper plate, the sizes didn't match, and the square was awkwardly moving on top of the other plate. Wooden spoon has a taste by itself, which also makes it bad. Conclusion, the desert itself was amazing, the delivery could be better.

There are always little treasures that you find when traveling and then there are gems. Authentic gems that are hard to believe that you were able to find them. A mere two blocks away from one of the most touristic places in Rome you find this patisserie. With beautiful decoration, great music and a patio resembling a Mediterranean backyard. However all of this beautifully designed place falls to the background when you see the desserts. And it falls even farther when you try them. A tiramisu that you do not want to eat for how beautiful it looks and then you cannot stop because it tastes even better. A chocolate mouse with raspberry that blows you away while pulling you in. This place is phenomenal!
