We did see some signs of the previous night's activities (like cigar stubs and glassware) but it was easy to find a clean spot. It was lovely; we did not want to leave. The restaurant in the hotel looked very nice, but the dinner menu did not seem very kid-friendly so unfortunately we were not able to eat there. Just small touches that make a difference. The dinner was OK. They installed a bar on the grounds which is more for local tradesmen and workers on their way home than guests, I appreciated it's income but guests should have facilities that build on their hotel experience, the bar was like a badly put together sports bar. Focus on the hotel experience for guests and this hotel could be so much better. The rooms are really nice so no complaints, they were lovely, but If I'm eating in the hotel I'd expect to have a lobby or bar that feels like a nice place for a drink. On the face of it the booking says 4* and the photos looks great, sadly not! It’s a lovely building but needs some serious tlc. Our room number 5 had a massive water leak in the bathroom (see photo) that must have been there for months and not fixed. The staff were charming, fun and super helpful and the room was fab especially after a very very long drive. However the reception staff were very unwelcoming and took no time to share any hotel information.they simply took my name and handed me my room card. We were the only ones checking in,so it was not like they were rushed. The staff in the hotel are generally very young and need some training, the young lady serving at the bar did not even know how to open a bottle of prosecco. I did it for her. This is not a staff issue , it is a training issue. I am not one to leave bad reviews but as stated I am a regular user of the hotel chain and this was a long way below standard for them.

Ideally situated. Clean & tastefully decorated. Our room was clean & everything you could need, hairdryer, iron etc was provided. Also, the hotel is in a perfect situation for everything. I don't know if guests with dogs are allocated special rooms but I don't want to stay in a room where a dog has been. With carpets etc it's most unhygienic in my opinion & do they sleep on the beds? Lots of parking nearby with the multi storey just behind and the leisure centre on the other side of the road (2 minute walk away) Greeted by a really friendly guy who showed us to our seats. We got a great spot in a smaller sectioned off area so fairly quiet (one slightly loud waiter as it was near the kitchen - there were people walking in and out but not close enough for it to bother you) Coke and lemonade for drinks. I find lemonade can sometimes be a bit hit and miss on the taps personally, this one was very tasty. Creamy mushrooms for starter for both. Was lovely. Chiabatta for dipping also great. Roast turkey dinner x 1 and Roast turkey and beef duo x 1. The offer of extra pigs in blankets accepted on both. (£2 extra per plate) also had an additional side of mash (another £2 if I recall correctly) Roast came with Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese in a pot, a pot of gravy (love this as lots of places do not include extra gravy!), peas, broccoli, carrots, stuffing, roast potatoes, roast parsnips and chosen meat. First impressions were, wow!! It’s massive. All tasted very good. Turkey was some of the nicest I’ve ever eaten. Very juicy and tender. Partner had the beef too and he said it was lovely not at all chewy just soft and tasty. Thankfully a table was set in the lounge for us to use temporarily during our stay, but having only been dog friendly for a short period of time, the hotel should look to provide a permanent eating area for visitors with dogs or just reject the idea that this is a dog friendly hotel. On arrival we received a very warm welcome fromy Tim the owner. After explaining what he needed he showed us to our room; No.1 Stow. The room was beautiful. Decorated lovely, it was large with a silent fridge, tea & coffee making facilities and a very large, modern and beautiful en-suite shower room. Breakfast the next morning was very good. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, but it is the little hidden extras that makes White Sails stand out from the rest. When I reached i was greeted very well by the staffs . After some formality i was taken to my room and i got a surprised. I was not given room in the hotel. My room was in a out house at the exit .
