What a surprise, just cruisin' the main drag at lunch and noticed this little restaurant. First time on the island and they did not disappoint! Even had the hot crab dip n potato slices and we tried/loved the scallops. Instead of goin to the regular chains I say give these folks your dime & time. Friendly and fast service. Disappointing experience — the place felt lifeless
We were in Nanaimo for the weekend and looking for a spot to have lunch. After some searching, we decided to try this place around 4 PM — but unfortunately, it was a poor choice.
The atmosphere felt completely lifeless and uninviting. The food quality was very low — bland, poorly made, and just not enjoyable at all.
On top of that, the service was rushed and uncomfortable. The waitress didn’t give us a moment to look over the menu, returning twice within less than 10 minutes to ask for our order — even though the place was nearly empty. While we were still eating, she came again to ask if we were finished, even though it was clearly obvious we weren’t.
Believe me — if someone is truly done with their food, they’ll get up and leave. There’s no need to make them feel like they’re being pushed out.

I visited twice, a month apart. The first time was ok, the second time was not good.
I had Miyagi's Magic Prawns and one piece of sushi on my first visit for lunch. It was fine but not something I would order again or recommend.
On my second visit, I had the seafood jambalaya and that was quite bad. It was rice and seafood in a marinara-style sauce- there wasn't anything creole about it. I picked the seafood out and left the rest. The server did not inquire about my barely eaten dish. This isn't a place I would recommend for their food.

We ordered a mix of dishes like some sushi rolls, a couple of mains from the grill, and a dessert to share. Everything was well-presented and tasty, and the sushi especially stood out.

My first time at any Cactus club and I was very impressed with the food service and atmosphere. We sat in the semi outdoor area because we are a group and it was quieter. All the meals served were beautifully presented. I shared a tofu bowl and as simple as it was is beautifully balanced for flavours and presentation. Al the ingredients were super fresh I ordered a beer and really did t like it and the server was very goood about it and switched it out for me without any hassle. The fish tacos came as 3 units and were plump and crispy.

Birthday we'll spent on an extremely busy night here. Service was kind snd amazing the moment we entered the door. They were super honest about reservations for that night and how long the next table was actually available for. There was ZERO pressure from the staff once we were sat. Server was nice enough overall, but seemed rushed & a little ticked that we weren’t rapid firing our order. 4 food items & 2 (non-pint) beer cost us $135 before gratuity. A visit during Happy Hour would’ve easily saved us $10-15.
Note: Abundant muscleheads in 1 colour, undersized t-shirts with trophy girlfriends. Not really a kids place with the colourful language nearby.

I cannot recommend this place enough! We were there on the 13th of October around 830pm. The atmosphere was so relaxing but fun. I wish I could remember our servers name because she truly was an all star. We had had a stressful weekend and she was so friendly and upbeat. There was no pressure to hurry up and order so we were able to just enjoy a couple drinks and unwind. We eventually ordered the avocado dip, a couple of sliders and the truffle fries. Oh. My. God! The Location, despite being in the suburbs of Nanaimo, is really cute and feels like you were in the wooden cottage. I’ve eaten at A LOT of vegan restaurants in over 40 states across the USA. This restaurant is easily in the top three. The food was incredibly fresh and flavorful. This was a nice upscale setting with classical favorites. The BBQ wings were crispy but light. None of the food was oily. Our server was very attentive and polite. A vegan friend recommended this place and we invited friends to it when we went for the first time. So we were really hoping it won’t disappoint and it didn’t! The food was well presented, delicious and good varieties.

Our food was good! We ordered chicken strips and fries and a BLT with fries. Asked for cheddar on the BLT and they put grated cheese on, a slice would have been much better on a sandwich but it was still good! And nice portion sizes. I ordered the "homemade" chicken pot pie. It was just okay, wouldn't order again though, the filling of the pot pie was kinda gritty, the crust felt a bit doughy.
The salad on the other hand, was great.
We sat on the patio, which is lovely.

Parking is kinda terrible. So will most likely have to park in a further spot in a sketchy area. Unless you luck out as someone is leaving.

We hoped to have a nice Mother's Day brunch today and chose the Pantry because it used to be a family favorite when I was younger. We were seated after waiting for awhile at the door and the waitress took our order within a few minutes. That was pretty much our only interaction except when she brought us our food and bill. To be fair, there were only two servers on and the place was full, so our waitress had her hands full. I can't tolerate gluten so ordered just a few sides and the rest of my party ordered breakfast items. We didn't have our food for half an hour after we ordered but noticed that two other tables were served before us even though they arrived well after we did! When our food arrived, it didn't look very appetizing so I touched the egg with my bare hand. Cold. The hashbrowns were dry and barely lukewarm. The sausages were hot, though. We had to flag another girl down to ask for refills of water, and I asked for cream for my tea and my son asked for a sprite refill. She returned with water and tried to put it in my sons cup so we quickly reminded her he wanted sprite. She came back with sprite and then remembered I'd asked for cream, so had to come back a third time to give me cream. By that time my tea was already cold. My sons dad finally had to stand up to catch someone's attention to get the bill, and a man at a neighbouring table did the same and made a comment about just getting out if there. If anyone would have asked us we would have told them how atrocious our meal was but I think they were all too busy to care. Don't waste your time on this restaurant. We know we wont make the same mistake a second time!

I experienced elderly person discrimination at this restaurant this morning. I was at the entrance waiting for a good 5 minutes for a staff member to seat me. Frist impressions of your restaurant, wasn't the greatest, very slow service, had a 30 minute wait for food, even before that I over heard other customers got free stuff because they're orders were messed up. When we got home, to check the pizza it was under cooked, raw dough as you can see in the pics below, we had to recook ours so it was eatable, and it still just tasted like a frozen pizza barley good, I think it needed more veggies, I believe you don't have many vegetarian/Vegan options. Seriously disappointed & super inconsistent! Heard this new restaurant got a lot of negativity over social media, but my parents & I decided to give our new local restaurant a try. Our first server was awesome, she gave wonderful service & made our some killer drinks, but when she was off work & our other service took over we really noticed! Both my parents order the steak sandwich; my mom with ceasar salad & my dad with fries & gravy. My dad also ordered a extra side of onion rings after raving to our server about how amazing they were the last time! As we started to eat I noticed that istead of a breaded chicken breast i had two chicken strips in my burger & the yam fries came with cheese dip instead of the regular chipotle mayo, which I personally didn't like at all. My mom & dad both had different cuts of steak, but moms was thicker & was cooked to a perfect medium-rare. My dad's was the real shocking disappointment, it seemed to be that they cut the steak down the middle to open it up so it seemed bigger but was sooo over cooked you could barely cut threw it & to top it off they forgot it onion rings. As he was very turned off after as we all were, he got the onion rings made to-go & had to send his steak back due to how over cooked it was and didn't want another one (I wish i remembered to take a picture it looked gross). As we paid up & were waiting for our onion rings to go the server noticed she forgot to charge us for our drinks & of course we paid for them but the attitude she gave us was even more disappointing, was way more worried about money than giving good service & food. As we got home my dad open the container of onions & was shocked! They literally charged us $16 for 8 pitiful onion rings! He said it himself he will NEVER eat there again, you only get one chance with him & i feel the same way! CONSISTENCY IS KEY. Especially in a small town like Cedar you'll either make it or break it. We wont be back.

My teenage son and I visited my mom, a senior in her 80s, who is a shut-in in Cedar. We had come across via Hullo Ferry and were without a car. We ordered the "Taste of Eataliano" and holy smokes it was great. It was turned into a mini Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner rolled into one.

We saved room for the enormous hunk of chocolate something-or-other at the end.
It's a rough time for us given my mom's health, but seeing her eat a proper meal and get happily sleepy.

I watched them plate my order wrong which caused delay, they removed the wrong items and handed out contaminated food which was off-putting but not the end of the world. Just lazy. We liked that there were no TVs as most places have them everywhere and can be very annoying. I didn't realize this place had new owners. A couple years ago it used to be amazing. Went today and was terribly disappointed.
Walked in and stood around for about 5 minutes with no staff in sight. When someone finally emerged she didn't acknowledge us for another minute, and when she did she didn't really say anything to us--just sort of pointed at a table and dropped off menus. It was very hot at the table with no AC on.
We were the only table, yet service was painfully slow. Our pop didn't arrive for more than 5 minutes after ordering it, and the lasagna took around 45 minutes. The steak was awesome. Nice and thick, and cooked perfect. Surprisingly, one of the best steaks I've had in Nanaimo. The asparagus on the side was quite small, and should have been left off the order to be honest.

A few bites of each cut half of the sandwich were significantly bread and sauce only. The lettuce was cut so thin it became soggy and the sauce was sloppy. I would not recommend this item at all. The restaurant was clean and parking is plentiful. Would try again but would likely avoid the sandwiches and just maybe have poutine or smaller items. I’ve heard the shakes are good but did not try them. Overall 3/5 stars with a recommendation to try at own risk as it’s very mediocre.

I saw there was a $10 value deal which is a good deal but it doesn’t work for me as a vegetarian since it cannot be applied to a veggie burger. It was good that the fries were not full of heavy oil. Absolutely no complaints. A very good and filling burger. My partner got the crispy chicken burger and it was DEFINITELY bigger than most of the fast food joints around. I would say it’s better than most pubs around in Nanaimo. Not super excited about the experience. I let my kids have a soda only because it was listed in the combo, then paid $1.50 more per soda because only juice boxes are included in the combo??? So $3 extra for something I would have said no to if it wasn’t on the menu already.
