Fitzbillies is a classic bakery and cafe in Cambridge, known for its traditional pastries and artisan coffee. It's a popular spot for East Anglian fare, offering delicious Chelsea Buns that come highly recommended by locals and even Stephen Fry. The cafe specializes in Traditional Afternoon Tea, making all the bread for finger sandwiches, sultana scones, and mini cakes in their own artisan bakery.
We had the original Chelsea bun, and it met expectations. It was warm, fresh and had lots of small raisins in it. Service was quick, and the lady at the counter was the sweetest. Also not too pricey considering the touristy location, and the cafe’s popularity.
Akhil S — Google review
Nice - pretty typical modern day cafe come cake shop. And while the Chelsea buns may have the same recipe, the way the sugar coating is done nowadays is just not what it was. Fairly average coffee too by modern day standards. Still 4 stars though because I am a picky so and so and you may well find coffee and buns are splendid!
Adam R — Google review
A charming and bustling bakery in Cambridge, best known for its famous Chelsea buns. I ordered a sultana raisin scone served with jam and clotted cream, along with a cup of coffee. The scone was beautifully crisp on the outside, while the cream was rich and indulgent — absolutely delicious. I shared a few Chelsea buns with my friends, and they were every bit as good as their reputation. Although the café was busy, we were pleasantly surprised by how quickly we were served. The lively atmosphere made it the perfect place to enjoy good conversation over excellent pastries. A must-visit spot when in Cambridge.
Tomoe M — Google review
We visited Fitzbillies on a busy Sunday afternoon — it was packed (as expected!) but we managed to get a table without too much waiting. The ordering system is done through your phone, which was convenient overall, though one of the hot drinks was a bit tricky to find on the menu. Of course, we had to try the famous Chelsea bun, and it didn’t disappoint — beautifully sticky, sweet, and rich. They even provided extra golden syrup to pour on top, which was a nice touch. The cappuccino looked great and was well presented, though it could’ve had a bit more depth of flavour. We also had a savoury snack of whipped feta and chickpeas, this was nice but 4 crackers was not enough. The staff were friendly and attentive, even with how busy it was. Overall, a good experience and definitely worth a visit if you’re in Cambridge — especially for the Chelsea bun!
Alamin A — Google review
The cinnamon bun at Fitzbillies is absolutely divine—soft, rich, and bursting with flavor. The café has a warm, welcoming vibe, and the display of fresh pastries is irresistible. A must-visit spot for anyone who loves classic, indulgent baked goods!
Mohammed A — Google review
Came here to check out the iconic Chelsea buns. They were great and lived up to its expectations. Others may find it too sweet for them, but I think it’s a matter of preference and I can appreciate it! We then saw they did afternoon tea, so we tried it: Sandwiches were poor and lacked flavour. Scones were huge (easy split 1 between the 3 of us), and the jam was great. Red velvet cake was amazing. Others were average. Service was really friendly but completely disorganised. Asked for water but never came (mistakes happen, so it’s ok). But while a male waiter was bringing in loads of fresh cutlery, he kept lobbing it in their containers and was constantly making ridiculous amounts of noise. No music was playing and generally the cafe was extremely noisy, given that it wasn’t very busy. Atmosphere was nonexistent. I recommend purchasing your Chelsea buns (as they are worth it) from the bakery beside to takeaway and avoid the cafe. You are not missing much. Value is also on the high side for the quality.
Jeremy O — Google review
After reading many articles mentioning the Chelsea bun is a must have in Cambridge, I was determined to try it before leaving town. I bought some as take away. When I took a bite into the bun moments later, I was utterly disappointed. It was dry and nothing extraordinary. I am not sure what all the hype is about. It was way below my expectations. Only saving grace was the friendly staff I encountered.
J K — Google review
We honestly do not understand how this chain can be so busy, since their flagship pastry is a bun with disappointing hints of whatever flavour they promise. We would not be trying this again. It might be catering for the English palette. The interior design is as dull as they come. The only positive is the generally friendly staff.

Cafe
Bill's Cambridge Restaurant is a popular spot known for its contemporary European cuisine. It offers separate menus for breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant is especially renowned for its breakfast and brunch options, with the Bill's Breakfast being a standout choice featuring sausage, bacon, eggs, tomato, mushrooms, and toast. Additionally, the restaurant caters to vegans with a wide selection of dishes.
We enjoyed a delicious lunch here - 2 course set menu - for my husband’s birthday. Attila and his colleagues were so attentive and kind and even surprised us with these delicious pancakes! The Korean cauliflower to start was especially flavoursome with an ideal texture and the minute steak and mackerel salad were also done perfectly. We will be back soon. It’s wonderful to always receive a warm welcome here. They also are attentive to our access and seating needs as I have a disability. Thank you very much.
Ginny R — Google review
Came here for breakfast pancakes and had booked a table online making a note that one of the diners was lactose intolerant. The care and attention by the restaurant and staff regarding allergies definitely put my mind at ease. We were asked by the staff when ordering drinks and again by the (I assume) female manager when ordering food. The vegan blueberry pancakes were as described and the triple chocolate pancakes were a sight to behold! Alas, the portion was too big to finish. If only there was an option to have a 3 stack of pancakes as opposed to the 5 stack. The restaurant was clean and vibrant and had a nice chilled vibe on an early Sunday morning. A big shout out to the female manager who was professional, attentive and friendly. She took the time to interact with us throughout and when paying the bill. She also asked if we enjoyed the meal and that the service charge was optional - which we were happy to pay for. We are already planning to return for brunch and mimosas!

Ordinary Menu Always passing by but didn't enter this restaurant, as the menu doesn't look appealing to me. The food was really average, nothing special. But still, it's relatively reasonable prices. With good service and environment I guess? I have no idea why it was so highly rated locally. Maybe what this restaurant famous for is their breakfast?
Pui L — Google review
First time in this particular Bills, having previously visited the Norwich one. Firstly, drinks. More the beer. 2 pints of Bills lager and we get a 330ml bottle. 'We don't do a pint' Then why is it on your menu? Second round of drinks I wanted alcohol free but my mate didn't but that's what was brought out. Food was edible, cant complain there. But, it's very pricey for what you get. £18 for Thai Green curry, looked pretty good but was stacked with rice to make it appear bigger. Ribs £22 overpriced by a couple of ££. Then paying the bill, 20% off for Blue light card holders but you cant give them the actual blue light card they want it on an app! Dont advertise something then go back on it. Pretty poor but I guess we are not the target audience in Cambridge.

Went to bills for breakfast, got seated quickly waitress came over and chatted, I had the pancakes my partner had the big breakfast both were fabulous. When chatting to Annabelle we mentioned it was my birthday and after they took our plates she brought me over a brownie with a sparkler and wished me a happy birthday which was wonderful. All in all it was great. Thank you ☺️
Donna — Google review
Excellent food. When busy sometimes things got forgotten, hence 1 star less on the service. However always friendly and with a smile. Was a great experience eating dinner and having breakfast here
Marc V — Google review
We reserved a table for 9 people. I ordered the Bill’s Big Brunch and I must say that it is underwhelming. The hash browns were the star of my meal. The sausage is small and it is only one piece. For a £15 food I think the price doesn’t reflect the quality. However, the place is lovely and has a nice cosy feel to it and they staff were lovely. I’m sure there are other items on the menu that are quite popular.
Christian B — Google review
Guys, if you want to have a great time in a truly friendly, homely atmosphere — the kind of place you want to come back to — you will definitely love this place. At lunchtime, you can even see a queue outside of people eager to spend time here. And I want to give special thanks on behalf of 😊Attila, because he really knows the dishes the restaurant offers and can give spot-on recommendations. The dessert we ordered on his advice was truly magnificent

Hot Numbers Coffee - Gwydir St (Dale's Brewery) is an independent coffee bar and micro-roastery located in a former Victorian brewery. It offers delicious coffee, tasty brunch options, and a vibrant artsy atmosphere with communal tables where students and tourists share stories to the beat of live jazz music. This spot is perfect for spending an afternoon working or reading while enjoying great coffee.
If you’re looking for an unforgettable brunch or breakfast experience, this place is a must-visit. The brunch here is phenomenal—every dish is thoughtfully crafted and full of flavor. I had an iced latte with honey that was just perfect, smooth, subtly sweet, and incredibly comforting. One standout was the chicken shawarma. The bread was unbelievably fresh, and the chicken was marinated to perfection. The pomegranate added a beautiful acidity that balanced out the savory spices in a way that felt almost gourmet. The atmosphere is super cozy, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy your meal. On top of that, the prices are very fair considering the high quality of food and service. Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves a good brunch done right.
Leena D — Google review
This is the best place in Cambridge for coffee and brunch. It’s absolutely knockout in terms of quality and choices. Thoroughly enjoyed the granola and Turkish eggs. The coffees are exceptional and retail bags well-priced. Great atmosphere and slick service. When it’s busy it can be noisy, but I only notice that because I’m usually solo.
Sean E — Google review
The barista was very helpful in explaining what was and wasn’t vegan. Just wish there were some vegan pastries but generally catered very well with many veggie options on the menu. I had the cold brew with it milk and the vegan bacon sandwich which was good if a little stingy on the bacon.
Natasha R — Google review
Moved into the area a few days ago. I’m not sure if it was my accent, but I was overcharged, and sausage was completely forgotten on a take away order. Pancakes were subpar, and everything was underwhelming. That’s a 4 minute walk from takeaway to kitchen table. That 6 oz listed on their menu is at 3.70, I was charged 4.70 for an oat milk latte at 6oz. The sausages, I am now re-cooking as they hastily just charred the sides but the middle was cold. Adding an extra sausage is a nice “sorry”, but having to go home and re-heat via toaster oven, speaks for itself. Not much attention to detail when taking my order, overcharging negligently or on purpose, not cooking things adequately. Maybe dining in would be different, but don’t get take away from here.

5 for music at night 4.5 as a daytime cafe It is indeed more crowded than the one near Judge Business School. A little too loud and cramped. Coffee tastes better this time than the other store on average. Nutty, balanced latte.
X — Google review
This used to be my go-to spot — great vibe, respectful crowd, and I always made sure to leave before the morning rush. But it’s taken a real turn. The new laptop policy is enforced rigidly even when the place is nearly empty, and the staff — especially senior ones — now feel more like gatekeepers than hosts. The atmosphere has lost its warmth, the coffee isn’t what it used to be, and prices have gone up without the quality to justify it. What makes it harder is that this place once meant a lot — it was a welcoming space where I felt at ease, and even made some lasting connections. It’s disheartening to see it lose that soul, seemingly in pursuit of a few more sales.
Eric B — Google review
We had a takeaway coffee But Coffee was so bitter and it wasn’t creamy and tasty I was hoping to have a good coffee from them but we didn’t like the taste of coffee unfortunately And i think it was overpriced we paid 4.90 We had 9 oz oat milk latte Cashier guy was so kind and helpful though And atmosphere looks nice

Hot Numbers - Trumpington St Cafe is an independent espresso bar that has made a significant impact on the coffee scene in Cambridge. With its own micro-roastery, it offers a diverse coffee menu featuring flat whites and single-origin pour-over coffees. In addition to coffee, the cafe also serves wines from Thirsty and craft beers from Bacchanalia bottle shop.
My husband and I had a brunch here on Saturday. We weren’t able to pre book a table, but luckily managed to nab the last one available. My husband has the sausage sandwich and I had the bacon pancakes, which were great! The service was really quick and we loved how you can choose your coffee blend. We also thought it was reasonably priced for Cambridge. We really enjoyed our experience here and will be returning!

I had the best cauliflower salad, great job on the roasted vegetables and the salad source - very tasty. Very lovely atmosphere as well.

best coffee in Cambridge and the food is also super tasty and has for everyone different options. My favs was the breakfast especially with the bread which is so wonderful! they are experts for the bread and coffee roasting! it reminded me of the great coffees I had in Sydney and then I read that the owner had the idea inspired by his time in Melbourne. The coffee Australian coffee culture brought to UK, mixed with music events and high quality tasty healthy food made Hot Numbers my NO 1 Breakfast in Cambridge. We tried all their three locations and all if them had a great service with great coffee&food, the central location being of course bigger and also outside the city.

Really good coffee but slow service. There is usually pretty crowded, so expect a queue. Their tarts are really tasty and they have a good selection of pastries and sweets

Best breakfast place and coffee !!!! Must visit if you’re around Cambridge. Loved their exotic food specially served. And loved the vibe of this place!!!
Anusha K — Google review
Lovely place! The staff are always friendly and welcoming. It’s a common choice for Engi students as it’s very close to the Engineering Department and convenient to grab a coffee for a quick refresh before heading back to work. If you go often, they’ll remember your name, which is a nice touch and makes you feel welcome. The price is a little above average but acceptable. I suggested they introduce a membership or loyalty card to reward frequent customers, but it seems they haven’t considered it yet. Overall, it’s a great spot for coffee, and I’ll be there often.

The Locker Cafe, located at 54 King Street, CB1 1LN in Cambridge City Center, is a charming family-owned arts café known for its signature handmade crockery and cozy homemade brunch offerings. The cafe serves brunch daily until 3pm and offers a variety of delectable dishes such as toasted crumpets with mascarpone, walnuts, berries, and maple syrup for those with a sweet tooth.
My go-to dog friendly café in the city. The prices are standard for the area, but the quality of food is excellent. The upstairs seating was a nice surprise, they make the most of the venue to welcome as many people as they can. Saturdays can be busy, but thats to be expected in the centre. King's Street is less visited by tourists compared to cafes on Kings Parade or around the market, I'd say its more a favourite with locals and students

LOVELY Local Café. The Cappuccino was Tasty and the Latte Art was The Best One I have seen yet. Food was Good, but it doesn't stand out in any particular way. The same can't be said about Desserts. The Blondie had a Nice & Rich Flavour. Very FRIENDLY Staff, that makes you feel Welcomed, into a Cozy and Atmospheric Eatery. Would Definitely visit Again for a Coffee Craving.

Hands down the best breakfast I’ve ever had! Everything was super fresh , the eggs were perfectly cooked, and the avocado was outstanding. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Highly recommend!

Surprise This cafe is always very full and crowded whenever I passed by. Finally got a table. Order two pastries, one eat in, the other take away. Everything tasted good. I have nothing to fault. The cafe was bigger than I imagine. Got a roomy toilet too. Because I am trying to compare different chocolate pastries of Cambridgeshire, I took the chocolate pastry home. It costs £3.40 and weights 87g. Quite expensive for a weight like that. Nevermind. The pain Au chocolat of Stir is getting very small too. As the cost of living is getting high. But the chocolate filling was the most among all of the Cambridge bakery and cafes. Good value than expected. It's a cafe with impressive pastries and coffee. Sorry to tell you that I have to deduct a star from the Stir Bakery.
Pui L — Google review
Came on a Sunday afternoon and there was plenty of seating inside, perfect for a catch up with a friend. I had the latte and chilli-jam, Brie and bacon toastie which was good overall with pretty standard prices for Cambridge. They have a water tap and glass cups that you can fill up yourself. The service was incredibly fast and the staff are lovely! It is a great independent cafe tucked away in the city centre.

If you are like me, visiting Cambridge for the very first time - you should definitely check The Locker Cafe. This place is amazing! It’s quiet and cozy, staff is friendly and helpful, food and coffee were delicious and so moreish! Looking forward to visit again.

The Copper Kettle is a spacious cafe and restaurant offering Mediterranean cuisine with a view of a renowned college. Their brunch menu features classic options like the CK Full Brunch, which includes eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, mushrooms, tomato, and toast. For a vegetarian option, the CK Veggie Brunch offers smashed avocado instead of meat.
The Copper Kettle is such a lovely spot in Cambridge. You can’t beat the location—right across from King’s College Chapel with one of the best views in the city. I especially enjoyed sitting at one of the outdoor tables with a delicious coffee and some pastries. It’s such a beautiful place to take a break, watch the world go by, and just soak in the atmosphere. A charming café with friendly service and a great selection of sweet treats—perfect for a relaxing moment during a day out in Cambridge.

The most important perk of this place is that it is in front of the King's College. The food is just okay. You could also try coffees, but they are not authentic and special. Overall, it is nice to have your breakfast in the beautiful scenery seating outside.

What a gem of a place. Tables nicely nestled in every corner, with a great atmosphere. Food (breakfast) was amazing too. Staff were really nice and attentive. Plus the location is great for some window watching. Some reviews mention being overpriced, we thought it was very reasonable.

One of our favourite cafes in Cambridge city centre. I am always very fond of their Turkish breakfast. Their full English breakfast was also very delicious. What’s more they have plant based milk options. Very comfy seats. Friendly, attentive staff. Couldn’t ask for anything more!
Gladys H — Google review
Location: can’t be beaten Service: friendly, cheery. Speedy/efficient Value: fine Food: Absolutely fine. “Turkish breakfast” different to the usual full cooked, but largely slices of cheese: not sure how justified. Waffles: seemed to be shop-bought sugary type which was a shame. Coffee: Turkish style ie relatively bitter but fine.

We stopped by so my husband could have the gluten-free full English breakfast. We were seated at a nice, quiet spot right at the window. My husband ordered a GF full English breakfast and I ordered a Turkish breakfast. We loved our meal and the atmosphere of the restaurant!

The Copper Kettle in Cambridge is a delightful place for a relaxed meal with a perfect view of one of the city's famous colleges. Its large windows allow natural light to flood the interior, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere. The setting feels both casual and elegant, making it ideal for breakfast, a casual tea break, or a light Mediterranean-inspired meal. We visited for breakfast and tea before embarking on another walk around the beautiful city, and it was an excellent start to the day. The menu offers a nice variety of Mediterranean dishes, and everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and well-presented. The breakfast selection was particularly good, with options that cater to both traditional and more adventurous tastes. We enjoyed our tea as well, served in a relaxed manner that allowed us to linger and enjoy the lovely view of the college across the street. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, which made the experience even more pleasant. The staff ensured we were comfortable and had everything we needed without any rush, making it easy to enjoy the moment. The cafe's location is perfect for anyone looking to take in the sights of Cambridge, as it is situated in a bustling area that is still peaceful enough for a quiet meal. Overall, The Copper Kettle is a wonderful spot for anyone visiting Cambridge, especially if you're looking for a charming, light-filled space to enjoy a leisurely meal. Highly recommended!

I had brunch here with my friends. It was quite busy, so we had to wait a little for a table. The Full English Breakfast was tasty and filling. However, the Chocolate Brownie Milkshake just tasted like a regular chocolate milkshake, without much of a brownie flavor. It also felt quite expensive for its size.

Nestled on Chesterton Road, Stir is a charming neighborhood café that has quickly become a beloved spot for locals in the Chesterton area. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the avocado was fresh, halloumi grilled just the right amount, perfectly toasted sourdough, and the additional smoky beans very tasty. The chilli jam was a perfect complement. The warm banana bread was delicious, and the caramelised fresh banana on top was a perfect addition. The flat white was well made. One of the best (if not the best) brunch places in Cambridge! .

Really nice food and the coffee was great. It was very busy so be warned you might have to wait a few for a table but we got a seat at the bar which was perfect! More on the pricey side but worth it as it’s hard to find a good breakfast spot like this!

Lovely spot for coffee, brunch, or a sweet treat. Stopped by for brunch with a friend and we tried both the Turkish Eggs and the Vegetarian Focaccia - both hit the spot and were surprisingly filling! There’s also a great selection of bakery items if you’re just after something lighter with your coffee. Service was warm and friendly. Prices are admittedly on the higher side, but seem in line with most other comparable brunch spots in Cambridge. The cosy atmosphere inside and pleasant outdoor seating (weather permitting) also make it well worth a visit!

A bit disappointed that the Winter Hash did not come with salsa verde or crispy kale that the menu suggested. If items were switched out, customers should be informed. It was just a plate of roasted root vegetables with no sauce? I ended up just adding salt and pepper but only ate a few bites and the egg. I also order the Winter Bowl instead of the hash but I think there was a mix up.

What a hidden gem! The coffee was really good for those who are coffee connoisseurs. The pastries was delicious and though I didn't try the food it looked very nice I'm sad I only found here on my last day in Cambridge! It was very busy around brunch time but I guess thats because of how popular it is. The place is professional and has a very nice vibe. Definitely worth going and trying.

I loved this place because of the atmosphere, it was so family-friendly, especially for children, but they changed the waiters and the service became terrible. I've never been treated so badly by a waitress in a place. I just wanted to spend some time out with a friend and in the end I really felt bad about it.

Brasserie
British restaurant
Browns Cambridge is a classic British brasserie and bar offering a grand cafe setting. Established in 1973, this chain boasts a menu featuring both classic and seasonal dishes, as well as signature cocktails. Many of its locations are situated in unique landmark buildings with historic or national significance. The restaurant offers a gluten-free menu with high-quality seasonal dishes made from fresh ingredients. Browns also hosts lobster nights and afternoon tea events.
Food was very good and reasonably priced. Atmosphere was beautiful and bar menu was generous. Could have used more service staff but the staff there was great.

The restaurant looks amazing both inside and out, but unfortunately the service and cleanliness really let it down. We were seated at a table where all the water glasses were extremely dirty, which was disappointing. A member of staff was walking around with a sweeper in hand without any clear purpose, she could have been more helpful by bringing our drinks, which took 15 minutes to arrive (and the place wasn’t even busy). On the positive side, the food itself was excellent, although the lobster portion was far too small for the price. Sadly, the service didn’t match the quality of the food. Our waiter’s exaggerated, casual manner of speaking (“Heeellooo, what can I get youuuu”) felt unprofessional and insincere, making the experience uncomfortable. Reminded me of American teenager in movies Overall, while the food was enjoyable, the service and atmosphere didn’t justify the high prices. Either the service needs to improve by about 15%, or the prices should come down by 15% to reflect the reality.

Came here late SEP2025. The ambiance and atmosphere is special and inviting. Live piano music was a very welcome addition to dinner. There was a 3-course special menu that we chose to use. My wife got a passion fruit and mango drink that was adequate. The appetizers were parsnip soup and a beetroot tartare. The beetroot was quite lovely and the soup was creamy, yet not much flavor (me wanting a stronger parsnip or other various flavors). Our entrees were butternut squash risotto and a seabass. The seabass was lovely and exceptionally tasty. The risotto barely had the slightest flavor of butternut squash and thus left a bit to be desired. The dessert was chocolate mousse and an ice cream with a specialty flavor I cannot remember. Both were decent. I’d go back to Browns for the ambiance and service (stellar). I’d probably just get tea or coffee or the Sunday roast.

The food was exceptional quality. The fish and chips included an entire fried fish that was super fresh. The vegan dish of butter squash risotto was also delicious and fresh. The atmosphere and music were very pleasant and not too loud. Best place for visitors coming to Cambridge.

Yesterday we visited Brown’s Cambridge for the very first time, and it was a truly wonderful experience. I am a regular customer at Brown’s in Bluewater, London, so I was curious to see how this location compared and I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and professional. The team made us feel welcome straight away. The restaurant itself is stunning: the décor is elegant and stylish, with a relaxing atmosphere that feels both refined and inviting. Every detail, from the lighting to the table setting, creates a perfect backdrop for a memorable meal. The highlight of our lunch was without a doubt the dessert. Both the crème brûlée and the tiramisu were simply outstanding, creamy, perfectly balanced, and full of flavor. With the tiramisu, I felt like I was instantly transported back to Italy with just one bite 🤭. It was the perfect ending to a lovely meal. A very special thank you goes to our waitress, Momoka (I believe that was her name). She was truly a ray of sunshine. Her warm personality, kindness, and genuine care made our experience unforgettable. She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, and her smile made all the difference. ✨ Exceptional service, a beautiful and elegant setting, and food that delights the senses. Brown’s Cambridge has it all. Thank you to the entire team for making our first visit so memorable. I will definitely be returning! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Recent visit to Cambridge Corn Exchange this Restaurant and Cocktail bar was really close. It had a varied menu and was a great place to eat. The food was excellent. Short of staff, with long queue at the bar when I wanted to pay for the meal, was my only disappointment.

Ordinary Menu Very limited menu. The food was average with reasonable prices. The burger was a bit too dry and lean, but at least it's using genuine blue cheese for it. The cheese was very intense. They kindly swapped my fries into salad, as I didn't want any fries for my steak. Good and flexible services. The environment was in full air conditioning. Unfortunately the toilets were clean, but there were bad and unpleasant smell. Probably need so air fresher? The environment and staff services are above average generally. I think the restaurant needs to have something signature/unique/exclusive in the menu, or customers would not remember you.

I’ve visited Vodka Revolution in Cambridge many times and it’s consistently a great spot. They run 2-for-1 cocktails every day except Saturdays (you do have to order the same cocktail), and the drinks are always well-made and taste great. The rooftop bar is a lovely bonus in the sunshine. I’ve eaten here on several occasions too — portion sizes are generous and the food quality is reliable. I’ve also joined a few quiz nights, which are run by an outside company. The prizes are usually drink tabs or shots, which adds to the fun atmosphere. On one occasion a family with children disrupted the quiz around 9pm, but the manager handled it really well and even offered free drinks as an apology for the inconvenience. Toilets are clean enough for a busy bar. Overall, it’s family friendly during the day and transitions into a lively nightclub in the evenings. Always a good choice whether for food, drinks, or a night out.

Parker's Tavern, established in 1834, is a luxurious dining venue located within Cambridge University Arms. The restaurant offers a fine selection of British classics and an exquisite afternoon tea experience. Chef Tristan Welch's menu is inspired by the city of Cambridge, with each dish telling a unique story. The afternoon tea options include freshly made finger sandwiches, homemade scones, crayfish boats, truffle and mushroom sausage rolls, and an array of sweet treats.
I recently visited Parker’s Tavern, located within the stunning University Arms Hotel in Cambridge, and had a fantastic experience. Although I didn’t stay overnight, I spent a relaxing evening at the bar, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed by warm, attentive staff who made the entire visit feel special. The service was impeccable—friendly yet professional—and made us feel completely at ease. We ordered a few drinks and some small plates to share, and everything was top-notch. The cocktail menu was creative and well-curated, and the drinks were expertly made. The food was equally impressive—high-quality, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The ambience at Parker’s Tavern is what truly sets it apart. The interior strikes the perfect balance between elegance and comfort, making it ideal whether you’re there for a casual drink or a more special outing. It’s right in the city center, just beside Parker’s Piece, so it’s easily accessible whether you’re a local or visiting Cambridge. It’s a great spot to chill with friends, enjoy a date night, or even bring your family for a relaxed yet refined outing. I didn’t book a stay this time, but after this visit, it’s definitely on my list for next time. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for quality food, drinks, and a memorable atmosphere in the heart of Cambridge.

Parker’s Tavern is traditional, polished, but not pretentious. it's inside the University Arms Hotel, it feels like stepping into a modern twist on a grand old dining hall. The menu celebrates British classics done properly (yes, the roast is worth the hype), and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for a five-star setting.

Fabulous lunch at the Parker’s Tavern. The venue is a tasteful mix of old and new and has a great atmosphere. Food was excellent and reasonably priced - loved the cheese straws, burger and the cheesecake. Carlos and his team were knowledgeable, discrete and provided an impeccable service. My new favourite place in Cambridge - can’t wait to return for the Friday night jazz!!!

We had after tea and had a fantastic time. The food and service were excellent the atmosphere as well. What did disapoint us was a heavy charge for a bottle of water. We were asked if we wanted water and we said yes. We thought this might be included in our afternoon tea package. As we went to leave we were asked to pay, we thought, what for? Anyway we had to pay £8 for this which we thought was high. The waiter should have mentioned this and gave us the option for tap water or bottled water. Anyway we still had a great time but this left a sour note.

Breakfast at Parker’s Tavern was a true pleasure during our stay at the University Arms, setting the tone for calm and beautifully paced mornings. The space feels elegant yet inviting, with refined details that make it easy to settle in and unwind. We tried the poached eggs on avocado toast and the full English—both expertly prepared, full of flavour, and presented with care. The coffee was smooth and perfectly balanced, a lovely complement to the relaxed atmosphere. Mariana looked after us both mornings with such warmth and grace, attentive in a way that felt sincere and effortless. Her kindness made the experience feel especially personal and memorable.

Nestled in the heart of Cambridge, Urban Larder is a delightful café and shop that beautifully marries a modern urban aesthetic with a cozy country vibe. This charming spot offers an inviting atmosphere where patrons can enjoy both indoor and outdoor seating, perfect for sipping on their expertly crafted coffees while soaking up the sun or enjoying the warmth inside. Although there’s no fixed menu, visitors can indulge in an array of delicious options like cheesy toast, garlic bread, croissants, or hearty salads.
Lovely balanced flat white and how can I resist a toastie in this wet morning? The ‘Nduja bean one is a delightful reinterpretation of beans on toast. Crunchy but not greasy. Very cheesy. Very satisfying. Very flavorful with the extra kick of the spreadable sausage (not visible but probably blended in). The place is quite far from me, but I’m definitely going to try the blue cheese next time ^^ (the half toastie comes in a smaller bread that makes it look like a full one. No more cauliflower cheese for the vegan option.) The cozy cafe is actually not crowded as I had expected. The staff are very friendly.

The Bombay and the surfin toasties were both unique and delicious. Friendly service. Cup of long black wasn’t to my taste but that’s only because I prefer darker roasts over fruity.

Small place, no room for the buggy so I had to sit outside which was still tight with the buggy blocking the door. Barista barely looked at me and I felt like I was in her way. Coffee flavour was nice but the latte I ordered came in a very small cup (maybe 4 oz?) which felt like a rip off given it was full priced. Almond croissant was okay.

Urban Larder in Cambridge is easily one of my preferred cafes. Their coffee is absolutely delightful, and I'm a fan of their delectable homemade bakery and pastries. The service here is exceptional, which is why I'm a repeat visitor. Plus, they have some eco-friendly perks: if you bring your own coffee mug, not only do you help reduce disposable cups, but you also receive a discount. Additionally, don't forget to take advantage of their Friday morning special – order takeout coffee before 11 am and enjoy a discount!

Bar
Six is a chic rooftop restaurant and bar located on the 6th floor of The Varsity Hotel in Cambridge. It offers stunning panoramic views of the city skyline, making it an ideal spot for drinks and rooftop dining. The intimate atmosphere and mouth-watering menu make it a popular choice for couples looking for a romantic evening. Additionally, Six serves afternoon tea with freshly made finger sandwiches, scones, jam, cakes, and teas created by master blenders.
We had booked a table well in advance, and as it was a lovely summer evening, we wanted to sit outside. When we were asked upon our arrival about our seating preference, we indicated that accordingly. Somehow I had expected to be taken to the iconic roof terrace, which I had heard about, but instead we were guided to a table on the balcony (on the lower floor). Not sure whether tables on the roof terrace need to be specifically booked in advance, and I guess I should have asked. Anyway - we did very much enjoy the outside table and the view. Service was ok (though could have been a tad bit more attentive). The food was great! I ordered the Prime Fillet Steak with mashed potato. The meat was cooked to perfection (medium-rare) and very tender, the mash very smooth and creamy. As a side, I had ordered the Broccoli with Chilli and Garlic, though it was not quite as spicy as I had expected. But definitely a great meal with a great view, and I will surely come back next time I'm in Cambridge (then perhaps with a table on the roof terrace?).

Located on the top of the Varsity Hotel, this restaurant has a lovely view of the city and is a really nice place to go for a meal. Service was friendly and food came out relatively fast. We ordered two fish dishes which were both very nice, though it would have been nice if it had come with more on the side (sides have to be ordered separately).

Whilst the food was enjoyable, it didn’t quite live up to the price point. The chips were fairly average and my burger, although fine, felt underwhelming given the cost. The quality just didn’t match the expectations set by the pricing. However, the setting was beautiful. And had a great dessert cocktail! Overall, a lovely visit, but the food fell a little short considering the price.

Perched elegantly above the city, The Six rooftop restaurant at The Varsity Hotel is nothing short of sublime—a jewel in Cambridge’s culinary crown. With sweeping views of the historic skyline and a refined atmosphere that strikes the perfect balance between modern chic and old-world charm, this is a dining experience that lingers in memory long after the final bite. Our party indulged in a trio of masterfully prepared dishes: the Moroccan lamb skewer—succulent, aromatic, and grilled to tender perfection; the shrimp couscous—delicate yet bursting with Mediterranean flair; and the chicken curry—a rich, warmly spiced revelation that would give any Michelin-starred menu a run for its money. Dessert, however, was where The Six ascended to gastronomic greatness. The homemade apple crumble was comfort incarnate, but it was the sticky toffee pudding that truly stole the show—lush, decadent, and perfectly balanced. It has instantly entered our Top 5 Puddings of All Time list, and justifiably so. The handcrafted cocktails were bespoke brilliance. The Basil Grande—a fragrant, herbaceous concoction—was positively divine, each sip a celebration. Service throughout was attentive yet unobtrusive, befitting the restaurant’s upscale tone. Even the restroom experience deserves applause: immaculate facilities stocked with Elemis products—a luxe touch that perfectly echoes The Six’s commitment to excellence in every detail. A word to the wise: reservations are essential—this is not the sort of place you stumble upon; it’s a destination. And rightly so. After a serene afternoon punting on the River Cam with Scudamore’s, The Six is the ideal capstone to a fabulous day out in Cambridge. A meal here isn’t just dinner—it’s an occasion. Quite simply, posh perfection.

I came to Restaurant Six for lunch, and I was really impressed! The atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing — everything looked so elegant. The table and menu were very clean and neat, which made a great first impression. The view of the city from the restaurant was absolutely stunning. Lunch restaurant
Smokeworks is a vibrant, industrial-style diner known for its barbecue ribs, chicken, beers, and shakes. With a no-bookings policy, it's perfect for spontaneous indulgence on rainy days. Located just a short walk from the main station in Cambridge, this American-style joint offers decadent dishes like pork belly benedict and loaded pulled pork breakfast fries during Saturday brunch.
Came here today for a bit of a late lunch after mooching around Cambridge for the day. I went for the ribs and wings combo deal with a side of onion rings, the other half went for the burger, side and drink meal deal offer they had on for lunch time. For drinks I had an iced tea and she the other half had a lemonade. We were seated at around half 2, our orders were taken after around 10 minutes of deciding and twisting the button on the wall to say we were ready, and the food came out 10-15 minutes after. The ribs were lovely, tender and coated in a rich sauce. The fries were seasoned properly, hot and crisp with a fluffy inside, the corn on the cob was cooked nicely and well buttered, the slaw was beautiful, and the wings.... THE WINGS were my favourite part of the dish. A beautifully crispy light batter on the outside, tender, juicy and flavoursome chicken on the inside. The onion rings were spot on too! As for the other halves food, I didn't taste the pulled pork burger, but she said it was really good. The tater tots were blooming lovely though! As for the drinks, both the lemonade and iced tea were lovely and nicely chilled. We also had a carafe of tap water for the table. Overall, a great first time experience at this place, and we'll definitely return in the future. Also a big shout out to the staff working today, you were absolutely spot on, especially when dealing with the chap behind us who said his food was dry, (sure it was mate 🙄) but only when the bill came... Just get the attention of the staff when you have the issue, not when you are paying 😂

Absolutely delicious! One of the best BBQ places in Cambridge. We tried the beef burger, ribs, fries and the Carolina BBQ sauce – everything was fantastic. The meat was juicy, tender and full of flavor, and the ribs were just perfect. If you love sweet barbecue sauce, definitely try the Carolina BBQ – it’s rich, smoky and slightly sweet, just amazing! Highly recommended.

5 stars all day long! Really, really can speak highly enough - staff, be proud you were amazing! Lovely welcome, great explanation of the menu and the cool red attention switch. Great BBQ options, I chose a rib platter with wings. The food was incredible, best wings, well cooked and flavoured rib, even the fries, ohhhh yes! The staff checked in throughout and were just so welcoming. I might have to come back tomorrow! Last comment - peach beer 'brewksi' was real refreshing. Thanks team - great meal.

Good atmosphere, good beer, great service. Great choice of food! Had the platter for one and the spicy nachos. They were both nicely hot when served, something other restaurants could learn from. Why a 4 and not a 5? My baby back ribs were a bit chewy towards the end, I personally like them cooked longer. The wings were perfect! It's a place you must visit!

I ate the pulled pork sandwich, and Abby had chicken fingers. Pulled pork was good, bun was excellent and the coleslaw was a great addition. I would have liked more of a NC vinegar based sauce, but this was very good. Abby has no complaints about the chicken!

Get yourself in here for a tasty treat!! Visited 6th July 25. Town was buzzing, it was lunchtime and it's been bloody ages since we have visited this little gem of a restaurant - will there be any room at the inn I wondered as we approached? No booking, on a Sunday and at lunchtime is the kinda gamble I go for. The team member of the front desk was fabulous and managed to squeeze us in despite the initial fear of being turned away. What followed was quite simply great food, fabulous service in restaurant with an awesome atmosphere. As always my eyes lit at the delights listed on the menu. What shall I go for today ..... always feel like the big dog at work so the BIG dawg felt right up my street & the good lady wife opted for the Mac n Cheese. Boy oh boy these guys served up a treat. Super tasty with melt in the mouth pulled pork on a bad boy big dog and a mac n cheese made to perfection. If you're reading this contemplating where to eat today then let me tell you plain and simple - look no further you've found the place go. Thanks to all the team and a special thanks to the young lady that found us a seat at clearly a busy time. We loved every moment and every mouthful what more could we have asked for. 🫶 THANK YOU

Really good coffee & lovely staff. It can be very busy (visited on a Saturday) but they bring the drinks outside whilst you wait for takeaway. Sadly, I’d skip the pastries next time.

Overestimated Quality I know that it's a very old history cafe but I've never been to it. I know that the rating is very high too. Why? Because the prices of the products are scary. The cafe is so small that it doesn't look like a good place to couch. Bought a pastry finally as I am trying to review the pastries of the Cambridge town centre. In terms of pastries, the main rival is Stir Bakery and Aromi nearby! Let's put it onto a scale. It's 120g for this £4.50 pastry. It was crazily sweet. So sweet that I couldn't taste the pistachio and chocolate flavoured filling. Just deadly sweet sugar paste. The pastries of Stir and EL&N London is expensive too. But they have more fillings, less sweetness and tastes more obvious. Quite underwhelmed by the performance. As it provides the most expensive pastries in Cambridge. But still, the staff provided good service. They were very patient employees.

The coffee was delicious but they don’t serve any other snacks to it’s just a spot for a drink. They don’t accept cash. I liked the aesthetic of the outside sitting but the street in front is way too busy, plenty of buses turning there just very close to the tables which made me feel uncomfortable. There is not much sitting space so there is a queue and if you get the table then you’re closely watched by those who want to take over your seat so I felt rushed. The cafe is featured in some way by Vogue and I had impression that people know it from social media and just make a big crowd. Just too busy for little space they have. The rating is very high but I’d say there are better cafes in Cambridge which offer great coffee, snacks if you wish and are just calmer to sit in.

We chose to stop to get a coffee here based off the reviews. We ordered a decaf and regular cappuccino. The coffee we were served was much closer to a latte than a cappuccino. The milk was textured very well however there was very little foam on the coffee, much more consistent with a latte than cappuccino. Furthermore, there was no chocolate powder again which seems to be the norm. The roast itself was quite light resulting in a bit more of a milky tasting coffee, however I understand this could be different based on personal preference.

Heard about Bound Brothers since it’s pretty well-known in Cambridge. It was quite busy but the service was quick. Tried a piccolo for the first time. Smooth, strong, not too milky. Worth a try if you’re around.

I called in for a latte recently, and loved the friendly service, the general atmosphere of the place and the quality of the coffee. A great spot to spend a little time watching the world go by with something to read. Recommend and will return.

A very charming little coffee shop in what feels like a Tudor townhouse that's been changed into a shop. Stairs are very steep to the upstairs seating so it is not ideal for people with mobility issues, however there was a few seats downstairs and even a couple of outside benches. I had a hot chocolate and a slice of rocky road, both of which were excellent. Definitely a nice place for a chill and a chat

We visited this café today, and I just want to say that the coffee is of outstanding quality. The espresso was absolutely fantastic — perfectly balanced, with a smooth body and a lovely, pleasant acidity. The service was great too. We also had a filter coffee, which was excellent as well. You guys are doing an amazing job. Keep going with this concept — it really works. Looking forward to seeing you next time!

It’s was our first time visiting Cambridge together and we absolutely loved it — part of the reason was the breakfast experience here at Savino’s. Here’s a photo of us having coming back for quick morning coffee on my wife’s birthday. Beautiful people, beautiful experience. Can’t wait to be back.

Lovely friendly family-run Italian caffe bar. My feta, humous and salad sandwich was so tasty! The incredients tasted of the highest quality. They have a great selection of food, coffees, teas and cold drinks. Can't wait to go again! Highly recommend 👌

It's a nice small locally-owned café with good coffee and great sandwiches on excellent bread. Doesn't try to be anything fancy, and that's great about it. Orders of magnitude better than the nearby chain coffee shops. I had a salami, brie, tomato and oregano sandwich on focaccia that was excellent.

Great little family- run italian cafe right near the bus station. Both our paninos were delicious, particularly the homemade pesto. Good selection of hot and cold drinks plus homemade pastries and cakes. Would highly recommend.

Amazing food! Priced highly but worth it. Everything is served piping hot and seems very authentic; the staff are all Italian. Coffee tastes really good and the food (paninis and salads) is delicious. There are both vegetarian and meat options. Presented beautifully. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

Great coffee and an even better playlist. I know that the playlist bit may seem like a moot point, but even other customers were commenting on how great the playlist was! It makes it a great place to do some work.

Amazing pastry! crispy shell with a warm chocolate filling. Also love the smell of baked goods that wafts in the space. — Coming back before catching a bus. Tried the new breakfast special, omelette panino. Lovely freshly cooked omelette, filled with flavorful peppers and chicken pieces, stuffed in piping hot toasted ciabatta. Heavenly heart-warming and filling breakfast. Very welcoming and efficient service. The blackboard always tempts me with so many combinations… and Brie/cheddar/mozzarella cheese croissant sounds delicious.

Nestled in the heart of Cambridge Market Square, Shelley & Sarah's has been a beloved family-run establishment since 1953. This charming breakfast and tea van is renowned for serving up some of the best breakfasts in town, including their famous bacon sandwiches made to order with fresh bread. The menu also features an array of hot and cold baguettes, burgers, and hot dogs that are sure to satisfy any craving.
Just what you need to start your day! Definitely recommend anyone to fuel up here before walking around Cambridge. Good, tasty and afffordable food served up quickly by nice people. Disregard one star reviews from people who aren't even customers! Seating is limited, so of course they're going to ask you to move if you're taking up a table eating food you bought elsewhere.

Well the idea of the Big Mac was really good but you know putting a shark in the middle of the bar isn’t a very good thing. So I was wondering (Kanye Wst€) if the was the possibility to bring a girl’s named Megan. She is not a shark but she likes the Big Mac really much so if you could give me a STRAIGHT answer, well well I would be very exited.

I had just a simple take-away chips from them earlier today and can honestly say they are some of the best chips I've had in Cambridge. Freshly cooked and plentiful, served in a recyclable container, at a very good price. Very friendly and welcoming staff, I can't recommend them enough.

I’m only giving 5 stars as it won’t let me give more! As a seasoned and (all too) regular consumer of breakfasts on the go and I categorically state that Shelly & Sarah’s is the best breakfast I’ve EVER had. Not only that but ALL the staff are exceptionally friendly and well mannered. Why anyone would be under the impression that they are running a free seating area for people who haven’t got the decency to patronise their small local business is beyond comprehension.
Mark M — Google review
I'm sorry, but Lisa Freemans review is utter rubbish and DOES NOT have anything to do with Shelly and Sarah's. Shelly and Sarah's is EXCEPTIONAl. Have been eating there with my friend for years and it's quite frankly the best breakfast to be found (Daniel Clifford from Midsummer house agrees!). Lisa, sounds like you bought food elsewhere, sat at their tables and they told you that their seating was for their customers only so please don't sit there! Deal with that and have some manners and consideration for peoples businesses!

Bean Theory is a charming new addition to the Cambridge coffee scene, offering a delightful setting with a lovely view of the river. The outdoor seating area and stylish interior design create a welcoming atmosphere. The friendly and helpful staff are known for their efficiency even during peak times. As the roasters themselves, they provide excellent coffee with a wide selection to choose from and offer advice on different blends.
Dogs welcome. Lovely and warm inside. Superb customer service. Good selection of tea coffee and lovely hot chocolate . There are lovely sweet treats (& dog treats) together with the most delicious toasties.

Can’t recommend this place enough! Delicious and original coffee (you can buy the beans yourself as well), beautiful views of the water and different selections of pastries each day. Most specially, the staff are amazingly friendly and welcoming. Me and my partner go most days and the staff know us by face now, even preempting our regular order sometimes! It is just a lovely and welcoming environment that is great to chat, study or relax in.

My favourite cafe in Cambridge. The staff are wonderfully friendly and never forget a face - my partner and I go most days and there are plenty of options on the menu. The drinks are inexpensive, especially with their student discount, and they have the best coffee I've had outside of Italy! Make sure to stop here if you're ever in town.

Friendly staff, great vibe, and some of the best brews I've had in the UK. Highly recommended for any coffee lover!

2 going downhill already? I had to revise the rating from 5 to 3. The flat white is rather watery and bland today despite the whole milk. Pecan pie is half alright and half burnt. Pro-not too sweet. Con-the outer part’s bottom is too hard, as the syrup has become hard candy. I can’t chop it off with either the fork or spoon… And finally, service is rushed 40 min before closing. At 1720, a male staff member start massive cleaning up and taking plates away from the table, including the our remaining chunk of pecan pie still topped with a piece of PECAN… Three-star now, the view and vibe is still nice. == Have been watching this place undergoing renovation and wondering what it will turn out to be… a new cafe at my doorstep! Beautiful airy waterfront room, lovely coffee, and many sockets. Latte tastes fresh, a little fruit chocolaty. Lots of enticing cakes :3 esp the chocolate torte and apricot and pistachio frangipane. I might give in pretty soon. Not cheap but it’s worth it for the relaxing environment and nice quality.

Good new place next to the river. Outdoor sitting are, nice design inside. Friendly and helpful staff. Open from 7 am as far as I`ve understood. + good and strong coffee. Fresh selection of baked goods and toasties. Price for toasties £8 but portion is big suitable for sharing. - Menu is a bit small. (need to ask to see it). I've tried cheese and mushroom toastie - it was nice but something is missing, maybe some kind of sauce. Not sure why gherkin is served on a side. It looks like they still waiting for alcohol licence, I've seen 2 taps 1 for lager and 1 for cider. Overall very good new place, hopefully will see new options and developments in the future. Good luck to them.

I had a cortado take away and the coffee tasted so bitter and extremely burnt that I had a better one at pret which I avoid if I can. We were in bigger group and on the go so I didn’t feel like making a fuss unfortunately. It was my first time here and I was really surprised by how bad it was considering they roast their own beans and try to seem like a proper coffee place. The staff wasn’t rude but wasn’t nice either. Me and my friend waited a long time to order without any hello or staff saying anything while they were all busy preparing coffee. It’s quite badly organized as there should be someone taking orders while other make drinks etc. The interior looks very nice but smelt but weird - like they used too much alcohol to clean the floor. I have definitely coffee snob taste and it’s a shame that such a nice location has a bad coffee, much better go to old classic bold brothers or hot numbers that Never disappoint.

The establishment is known for its Sunday roast and vegetarian options. Situated on King's Parade near Kings College Chapel, it has received praise from customers for its excellent food and service.
Absolutely lovely food, one of the best meals I've ever had. The portion sizes for the price were more than enough. The food itself had lovely complimentary flavours and the dishes themselves were presented lovely. Waitresses checked often to make sure the food and everything was okay but not too much we felt harrassed.

Can't rate this place highly enough! They accommodated my request for a specific table, even though we booked quite late, and our slightly awkward changes to standard dishes were dealt with easily and with a smile. The service was fantastic, the food fabulous, and there is a nice choice of non-alcoholic drinks, so we could have some sparkling dealcoholised wine. Would absolutely recommend thst you eat here if you're in Cambridge!

Fabulous Food! This was a great find for us with my family. We were looking for a place that was dog friendly were we could eat outside this summer. The Chop House was perfect. The food was fabulous, they were really nice with our dog (even bringing water in a bowl and the view is incredible. The menu was also large enough to suit all the difficult taste of the four of us. Highly recommended!

Absolutely amazing! One of the highlights of my trip. Coming to the Cambridge Chop House for a Sunday roast was the best decision I made - it completely redefined my view of English cuisine. Now, when I think of English food, I think of their beef Sunday roast. The interior is warm and cozy and its location in the heart of Cambridge makes it perfect for a relaxed lunch after exploring the city. The team is incredibly kind and welcoming. I recommend making a reservation if you’re visiting for Sunday roast. Portions are generous, the food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable. I wholeheartedly recommend this place!

Had an amazing dinner here this weekend, ordered the rib-eye for mains and it was superb, fat beautifully rendered and very delicious with all the trimmings on the side. Wine was lovely too. Service was nice also despite it being a busy Saturday evening. Only thing that could have made the experience better is if our special occasion note on our booking would have been perhaps acknowledged throughout our meal. Although I would definitely still recommend!

The restaurant was so disappointing that I haven’t been here for four years. (Yes the steak was bland and lackluster even after two weeks of post-arrival quarantine, and the second meal with friends was equally bad despite the good companionship.) Now with the coming back of tourists, even the staff become ruder than before :) Starters are slow. 40 min wait is unacceptable. Steak is still chewy and tough despite the pinkness. Brighter side- haggis is lovely anyways (redeeming bites); fries are alright; capers are nice addition to the salad. The prawns on the next table are quite impressively large… maybe it can justify +£9 onto add on the salad.

Las Iguanas in Cambridge offers a contemporary dining experience with flame-grilled Latin American dishes and shared plates. Located along the River Cam at Quayside, it provides a slice of Latin America in a beautiful riverside setting surrounded by historic buildings. This restaurant is perfect for various occasions, from lunch with friends to a romantic date or evening cocktails. The bottomless brunch menu features authentic cuisines from Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, and Argentina paired with unlimited draught beer or prosecco.
We joined a boat tour with the Cambridge Punt Company, and our guide Jack recommended this restaurant to us. Since we took their tour, we received a 40% discount on our meal, which was amazing! Our server, Lay, was absolutely wonderful – very friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about her job. She made our experience even better with her warm smile and great service. The cocktail I had was delicious, and the deal of two cocktails for £13 was fantastic. We absolutely loved the calamari and king prawns — both were perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Dining by the riverside under candlelight was such a magical experience. Huge thanks to the Las Iguanas team for a truly lovely evening! 🌟

We came for bottomless brunch on the 5th of July. To begin we were seated down by one of the managers (Pavel) who appeared to not want to be there. He had quite an attitude and visibly looked frustrated by the presence of people. We were told that as we arrived 10 minutes late our booking had already started, which we were fine with, but the manner in which it was said was extremely dismissive. This put a rather sour starter to our bottomless drinks and soured the overall rating. The saving grace of our visit was Lay. She was an amazing server, attentive, professional and very personable. Our drinks came very quickly and the ordering was consistent. The drinks were lovely and relatively strong depending on what drink was selected. The food was good but the portion sizes could have been bigger as it wasn’t extremely fulfilling. Tasty nonetheless! We would return here based on the quality of drinks and food, but more importantly the service delivered by Lay! I would hope that members of staff, specifically Pavel, could take some pointers from Lay and learn customer service. She is a Lay of sunshine! 😊

Had a great meal out with friends, arrived early and were seated straight away. A few things missing from the menu but the alternatives were very tasty. As requested we were given a pause between courses which is always nice. The staff were great help, Lay was tops with a nice friendly smile and took the time to guide us through the menu and options. To top it all she even helped us with our discount voucher options, so a massive thanks as not the cheapest night out. The robot servers are a bit futuristic.

Nice restaurant just next to the riverside. The only downfall was that they did not have cod which I wanted to order originally, but the grilled chicken and avocado salad was nice and refreshing in hot day. It was not too busy so got seated straight away. The cider was cool and nice. Service friendly and polite.

0 Star Review – Absolutely Appalling Experience at Las Iguanas Cambridge I visited Las Iguanas Cambridge with my husband, and this was hands down one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. The young male waiter who served us was the most rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional waiter we have ever encountered. His behaviour throughout the meal was shocking and completely unacceptable. We ordered Loaded Nachos, Patatas Bravas, and Honey Halloumi for starters. While I still had two nachos left on my plate and was mid-conversation with my husband, this waiter abruptly came over and snatched my plate away without asking if I had finished. He then stood beside our table holding the plates he had taken, waiting for us to finish the remaining few pieces of Patatas Bravas — an incredibly rude and uncomfortable gesture. When our mains arrived (two vegetarian enchiladas), the experience only worsened. The food had an unpleasant smell and taste that made it inedible. I took a single forkful and couldn’t continue. My husband tried to eat his portion and thought he could mask the taste with the beans but only managed two or three forkfuls before he also found it unbearable. When the same waiter came to ask how everything was, we explained our concern politely. He brought us a menu to order something else, but by that point, the poor taste and overall experience had completely ruined our appetite, so we asked for the bill instead. To our surprise, the bill included both enchiladas, even though we had barely eaten them and clearly raised a genuine concern. When I questioned this, the waiter dismissively replied: “You still ate it, so you have to pay. That’s how it works.” This response was utterly unprofessional and disrespectful. After we challenged him further, he reluctantly went to speak to someone and returned with a slightly adjusted bill, removing only one enchilada. The entire interaction reflected a complete lack of customer service, accountability, or basic respect. I am now attaching a video of our food, which clearly shows how little was eaten. The first enchilada in the video is from my plate, which I had barely touched. The second plate belongs to my husband, who had eaten only two or three forkfuls, exactly as mentioned above. This experience was disgraceful from start to finish — poor food quality, atrocious service, and a dismissive attitude towards customers. Las Iguanas Cambridge has lost our trust completely. I would strongly advise everyone to avoid this branch if you expect even the slightest level of professionalism, courtesy, or respect.

Visited this place today. It was a wonderful ambiance next to the punting river. Coming to the service it was unsatisfactory because we had to wait for two hours after ordering the food even the food got cold by the time it came to the table. Completely a disappointment with the service. The waiter asked us to sit at the bar place as it was full in the restaurant. But observing into the restaurant they did have place to sit well I was not sure why they had to say so. It had no cutlery and we had to eat with hands because the waiter was not attentive. Completely it was a disappointment. Hope this review helps for improvement.

The food is good but the service is top notch here as Ziggy was amazing. The pan seared sea bass with rosemary potatoes were nice. Strange Menu Looks like an authentic Italian restaurant but actually is not at all. The restaurant had a lot of non Italian style cakes in the display. The menu provided American style burgers too. Weird. Has packed ink pasta for sale too. Slightly disappointed that the restaurant does not put ink pasta into their menu. Found a mini leaf on the table when being seated. The staff must be too busy at different tables therefore missed the details. Saturday was always busy anyway. The menu is quite limited, just standard. The pasta does taste like made from stretch like Aromi does. More like pulled out from a bag, I am not sure. But still, the dishes tastes fine, Standard flavour that suits everyone. Just the portions were a bit too small. Just little confused that the restaurant provides so much non Italian dishes and desserts. Why not focus on the Italian menu? Weird.

Went there with my boyfriend for our lunch. He ordered some pasta, and that pasta was a bit undercooked, and ive ordered some lasagna and oh my goodness it was so so good. For the drinks we ordered the classic Coca Cola and a banana strawberry smoothie. The atmosphere was so nice, inside of that restaurant was warm and cosy, we sat by the window. Staff members were welcoming and very nice. Highly recommending this place for first dates and dates with your special someone ❤️

Carluccios used to be one of the best restaurants in Cambridge, in my opinion. About 15 years ago or so, I remember people queuing here and hardly get walk-ins and must have reservation. They used to have a delicatessen which emphasized that authentic Italian vibe. They even served paninis to go or to eat in. Now, the food is still good and few days ago we went and was served by Marian. He is truly a gem for this restaurant. He basically gave that festive and cheerful vibe and made us all feel special. The food was still good. Although I am missing a favourite from the antipast board. A freshly baked focaccia and the caponata siciliana. Those were my favourites! I think this place still has a lot of potential because they still do good food. Bring back how it used to be. The warmth of the place as you enter and the welcoming delicatessen which brought that rich Italian vibe.

We arrived around 6:15 for a pre show meal and were pleased to find it quiet as we didn't have a booking. The service was efficient and friendly. We ordered drinks and were served quickly - my peach juice was absolutely delicious. Ordered a carbonara and penne arrabiata respectively with garlic focaccia to share. Not too long a wait for food and it looked delicious but, unfortunately, turned out quite disappointing. Hubbys pasta and the garlic bread were fine but my carbonara sauce was scrambled egg rather than silky sauce. The bacon was nice and crispy but a little overdone so it overwhelmed any flavour there might have been. It was basically bland and tasteless pasta with scrambled egg and bacon! I really wish restaurants would put salt in their pasta water! Definitely wouldn't recommend this dish but the restaurant itself and the service were good so we'd probably give it another go and just order something else - the pizza looked delicious. 2 soft drinks, 2 bowls of pasta and a small garlic bread for near enough £50 so not cheap but I guess around average for an Italian meal in a restaurant.

Food quality was decent. However, I was really not happy with the poor service provided by a waitress today - she was not wearing a name tag, but she was a young, south asian descent, fairly short female working today (Monday 25th August 2025) - will caller her "waitress 1". I asked waitress 1 if I could pay upfront when ordering as I need to pay with my phone but my phone had developed an issue that morning where it would shut off and then not turn back on for a few hours so I was worried about it shutting off and not being to pay later. She agreed to this but then ignored me for over 30 mins. I asked her again if I could pay now upfront, she agreed again and then ignored me. This made me worried the food will arrive but I won't have the means to pay for it if my phone shuts off again. After waiting for a total of over 40 mins, I approached another staff member and explained the request - this other waitress instantly resolved the issue by taking payment immediately. When waitress 1 then brought over the food, she'd asked if I wanted parmesan and I said yes please. She then went off and did not bring me any parmesan for well over 10 mins, so clearly would not bring it over. The food was getting cold so I got up and asked another waitress for the parmesan - again, I was provided this instantly. I had also asked waitress 1 for water when ordering the food. This never arrived, despite her providing water for those that arrived much later than me. Waitress 1's service was poor throughout (regarding payment, parmesan and even getting me a drink - all the main parts of the visit!), making the dining experience stressful and putting me off going to Carluccio's. The other waitresses I spoke to were superb and very helpful in resolving all the issues I experienced from Waitress 1's poor service. The busy-ness of the restaurant today was on par with other times I've visited and not the reason for these issues, especially given the other waitresses were great. I hope you can use this review as an opportunity to provide training to waitress 1 on how to provide the standard of service other staff at Carluccio were displaying, before she ends up putting off more people from coming to Carluccio's!

Incredible customer service, friendly & attentive staff, tasty food in a cosy atmosphere. My first time here & I'll definitely be back! Great value for money and definitely try the yummy desserts. I love that they highlighted the service fee & asked if I was happy to leave it on, nice for it not to be assumed. My experience was a great one ... would I reccomend this absolutely! And as a customer care manager with high expectations I'd say they exceeded my expectations!

Restaurant
Byron Cambridge is a delightful American-inspired diner that takes the classic burger experience to new heights. Here, you can indulge in gourmet hamburgers adorned with an array of toppings and sides that will tantalize your taste buds. Signature offerings like the Dirty Byron, featuring beef dripping mayo and pickled red onions, or the BBQ Chicken piled high with buttermilk fried chicken and smoked cheddar are just a few highlights on their menu.
The most delicious 🤤 burgers in the town . Their patty and freshness of food deserve high marks 10/10 . Staff always are welcoming and friendly. Proper buffalo sauce dipped wings (see the picture) . If you are in Cambridge definitely pop in and try their burger and wings .

Absolutely loved our visit to Byron Burgers! 🍔🍟 The burgers and chips were spot on — full of flavour and perfectly cooked. Staff and management was super friendly and gave great recommendations, which made the experience even better. Loved that they had gluten-free buns and a couple of vegan options — shows they really care about everyone’s needs. Pints were fresh and chilled just right 🍺, and the overall vibe was relaxed but well-managed. Highly recommend this spot for a proper satisfying meal — 100% worth it! 🏄🏻‍♂️

a must-eat as you visit Cambridge. 🍔🔥 Byron is a chain and I fortunately came to the oldest one. the vibe was perfect and the clerks were extremely courteous and cute - they asked me four times about the satisfaction of foods 😂😂😂 even i just ordered a breakfast plate and a black coffee. ☕️ One thing not fits me is the saltiness, but i believe it's my different eating habits. Especially thanks for Kevin & Jaimin, let's eulogize Byron! 🦷🦷

Our first time in Byron Burger - a great memorable experience for the family. Food & atmosphere was great and thanks to Mario for being a great host and looking after us including a 3 year old.

Not the best I had, but they serve reasonably good burger. Quick service even during busy lunch hours & friendly staff.
Jimmy H — Google review
Good food, pleasant and attentive service, though beware, it's not a fast food. I waited quite a while for my meal, but didn't mind after walking around Cambridge for hours. Speaking of the meals, you can turn almost any burger into a vegetarian version which is great, though adding an extra pound for it didn't feel right, especially when they add 10% service fee and a plain burger with no sides or drinks goes for £17
Ivo T — Google review
Me and my wife have been going to Byron’s in Cambridge for years and is one of our favourite restaurants in the city. Just recently I was diagnosed a Coeliac so was gutted thinking that I might never be able to go again. But Mario was fantastic he was very attentive and knowledgable on allergens and guided me through the menu on what I could and couldn’t have - safe to say I felt well looked after. Outstanding service, great food and if you happen to have any allergies you’ll feel quite secure in the hands of the fantastic team there.

Tradizioni is a charming Italian restaurant located in Cambridge, offering a truly authentic Italian dining experience. The menu features a wide variety of traditional pizzas and pastas, complemented by an extensive selection of wines. Guests can enjoy their meals in the cozy indoor setting or opt for outdoor seating. The restaurant's diverse offerings cater to different preferences, from light breakfast options like coffee and pastries to hearty dinner choices with delicious side dishes.
Great restaurant. We tried their pizza (the Andrea and Prosciutto and mushroom pizza) as well as their pasta options (mamma pasta and ragu bolognese). We enjoyed them all. The portions were very well sized for the price and the flavours were good. Our only criticism would be we'd have preferred a little more sauce with our pasta and that in the desert option the ice cream was a bit too cold, making it hard to eat with a spoon. Nevertheless, the service was attentive, the atmosphere warm and comfortable, and food was served remarkably quickly.

Absolutely AMAZING Spot! The food at Tradizioni was top-notch—Fresh, High-Quality ingredients, Cooked to Perfection and Beautifully Presented. You can really taste the Care that goes into Every Dish. The staff were Incredibly Friendly and Welcoming, making us feel right at Home and well Looked After throughout our meal. We were lucky enough to get a Table Outside, and the Atmosphere was just perfect. Soaking up the sun while enjoying great Italian food really made the Experience. Can’t recommend this place enough—will Definitely be Coming Back 100%!

This is a great place to have some Italian food. I am not Italian but in my judgment the food is great and at a good price too. I had the Special Seafood Pasta GFO, Focaccia, the gin tonic, and the Tartufo Ice Cream (as dessert). My team tried other meals and starters including the Caprese GF There are enough tables to make up for team day out, for a small team though. There's no parking here, I had to park at Devonshire road- bear in mind you can't drive over the bridge on mill road. So you can park and walk over the bridge to arrive there.

Dining Club Meal-Friday 29 August 2025 My sister and I were the hosts for this meal, and our friends the father and the daughter were the guests, my sister and I arrived at the restaurant, to see our guests already seated and waiting for us to arrive, we went to where our guests were seated, and a waiter soon arrived, to ask us if we wanted a bottle each of both sparkling and still water, to which we all said yes, and soon, one bottle of each quickly arrived, when all our glasses were filled, the waiter returned to take our drinks order. The drinks order went as follows: a pint of Shandy and a Diet Coke, and two Alcohol Free Peronis for the daughter, an Alcohol Free Peroni for my sister, and two San Pellegrino Fizzy Blood Orange Drinks in Cans for myself, the father did not order any Alcoholic drinks, as he told us that he has given up drinking Alcohol, and we all said that was a very commendable thing to do. We did not order any Starter Meals, so we ordered Mains, which were two Pinsa romana Cotto e Funghi, which are two Pizzas with Tomatoes, Mozzarella Cheese, Mushrooms, and Ham, for myself and the Daughter, my sister had the Ortolana, which was Tomatoes, Mozzarella Cheese, Courgettes, Aubergines, and Broccoli, and the Father had Lamb Shoulder Steak medium rare, with Chips, a Mixed Salad, and Garlic Mayonnaise. For the dessert, the daughter had Profiteroles, and the Father, my sister and myself we all had Tiramisu.

Highly recommend the bottarga and Saltimbocca, the best I’ve ever had outside of Italy. Impeccable service and truly amazing wine list, very good suggestions. We had such a stunning time here.

I have been back with my family after a long time. What a place it has become! Tasteful decor, candlelights and friendly service. We ate a very abundant ravioli with lobster which was amazing! We also had the T-Bone steak cooked to perfection and chocolate fondant to die for. The owner, Andrea, helped us choosing a delicious white wine which matched the lobster beautifully. The food was great, the service attentive and discreet all for a more than reasonable price. Thai independent restaurant is a gem in the Mill Road area. Highly recommended

The Punter is a charming and historic pub located in the back streets of Pound Hill in Cambridge. It has a cosy beer garden and rustic interiors, housed in a renovated coach house with a long history. The pub's eclectic fittings and furnishings add to its charm, creating a rough and ready atmosphere. Despite its name, it's not situated by the riverside but still offers a classic neighbourhood pub experience.
I ordered the Punter Burger, and it was absolutely delectable. The meat patty in the burger was very juicy, and the portion size was quite satisfying. The waitress was incredibly friendly and wore a big smile the entire time. The environment was cosy and inviting—bustling but not too noisy. It was the perfect place to relax and chat with friends for a while. I would definitely love to come back!

A solid 4.5. Wonderful environment. Lovely people. Good enough dishes to choose from. The potatoes that come with the lamb loin smell good at the moment the dish arrives. The lamb itself, as some comments mentioned, is on the dryer side, but still not too tough to be cut by a normal knife. And it’s a lean chunk of protein. The charred part is enjoyable. The carrots and asparagus are tasty, and the gravy is one of the best I’ve had, not greasy and adequately savory with umami. Schnitzel and duck breast and even salmon udon look nice.

The staff really really were great.wish I lived closer as I'd be here 2 3 nights a week! Only slight negative was the music coming from the kitchen... Some serious thrash/scream metal, but if thats Chefs "method" is then, so be it! But some chill tunes would really set this place off

Perfect, just perfect! Crispy fish & chips, but still juicy fillets and the sauce was great. By the way they serve you a giant fish. It was bigger than the plate! (which was full very big and deep and it was overflowing with potatoes, peas) Scotch egg was warm, soft and delicious! My friend eats everything with a piece of bread, so the waiter brought out a bog pile of toasted baguette slices on the house! As an artist I adored the antique atmosphere! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and great food! It's a must-visit!

There is a good selection of beers, some traditional hand pulled beers and now some craft beers as well. Selection of lagar on offer. Good was ordered, arrived. Noi complaints from anyone. I had a burger and chips which was spot in.

Local Pub Trying to write reviews for the Cambridge pubs therefore entered this pub. Attracted by the onion rings of other table while entering the pub. Therefore we ordered onion rings too. The food was in generous portions. The onion rings and fish&chips reminded me of Henry's of Hunstanton. Both restaurants didn't have basic seasoning therefore tasted bland. You need to add salt onto them. But at least under the batter, there was a genuinely big fish fillet inside. The onion rings were good quality. Everything was hot and well fried. The burger was quite lean therefore relatively dry. That made me feel salty. At least it's a brioche bun. But still, the prices were very reasonable. Nice, clean and quiet environment. The staff were friendly, sorry the system did not let me give the service 6 star ratings.
Pui L — Google review
A friendly little neighbourhood pub. As tourists, we weren’t aware of the pub quiz – or how long it would last – and ended up as unwilling participants, hearing all the questions and answers over the PA. The Sunday roast was solid and tasty. The sticky toffee pudding was a bit dry, though. Perhaps we misread the situation, but it felt like desserts aren’t ordered very often here.
Mattias H — Google review
A good corner pub with good food and a good selection of drinks. We enjoyed our Sunday roasts - big helpings- and also the desserts. The sort of pub you wish you lived near to - it would be great to have this as your local!

My friend and I saw that they have a supper club so thought we would try it out. It was a 5 course menu and you could opt for drink parings too or just food which was £35 - great value! We were driving but from what we heard from others the drinks were awesome. The staff were fantastic and knew their stuff. They explained what everything was - very informative but in a friendly way. The food was fantastic! It was so nice to just the boundaries and try some new food - the flavours were amazing. You could tell it had been well thought out. The atmosphere was really good too. Not too loud, between the music playing and the chatter. I would thoroughly recommend it and I can’t wait for the next one! Oh and I need to book in for a Sunday roast dinner asap! Reviews are great on those too.
Anna L — Google review
Attentive staff, cosy atmosphere. Great location away from busy Cambridge. We opted for a few starters instead of a main meal. Food was excellent. Everything I saw coming out of the kitchen looked delicious too. If I lived nearer I’d be eating and drinking here all the time. 5 stars!
S C — Google review
I'm having to update an old review as we just visited for the first time in a year and the food has gone downhill considerably. The Petersfield has always had a great vibe and fantastic staff. Thankfully this is still the case. But unfortunately, not only did the food take over an hour to arrive, it was horrendous. I had the burger and chips, which looked like something from the 90's. My wife had the sausage and mash which had the saltiest gravy, rendering it inedible. The sides were broccoli, which was caked in a wierd thyme paste and cavalo nero which was soggy and resting in its own cold water runout. The waitress was extremely charming and did everything she could to make the situation better. I do feel for the staff though as they are being let down by the kitchen. I hope this was a one off hiccup and that The Petersfield is back to it's former glory on our next visit.
Toby B — Google review
We had Sunday roast option. Flavour was good, but the portion size was very small. Small to the point it ruin it a bit. 2/3 small chunks of potato, small bit of carrot, one thin slice of beef, and a large Yorkshire pudding. I think they could do better portions.

Try and book to reserve a table in advance, as we had to queue for an hour. Ask for the complimentary tea when you are queuing up. Our waiters for amazing! Jaiya and Sai Teja were so friendly and helpful! Thank you to both of them :) Lots of vegan options. The aloo tikki chaat and the chilli chips were delicious. ( I asked for the masala separately for the chips incase I found it too spicy). Would definitely go back when I visit Cambridge again.

Visited The Permit Room for dinner and loved it so much, we came back for breakfast the following day. Food is unbelievably good, so many vegan options to choose from too - would highly recommend the Chole. Our waitress for dinner was Vassi, she was so attentive, friendly and had so much time and knowledge about the food. Nothing felt like too much trouble and she went above and beyond to give us a great experience, and made the occasion extra special. Didn’t catch the name of the waitress for breakfast, but the level of service was just as brilliant. The atmosphere is exactly what you want, a nice buzz and great music without being too loud so you can still chat. Overall, a really enjoyable experience!

The food was excellent, although with my spice tolerance it wasn’t something I could handle. They offered to exchange it and even suggested which options weren’t spicy. Thank you! Will definitely bring over friends who can handle this, it’s very good authentic cuisine!

Having dined at other dishooms, this was very disappointing. Their menu range is incredibly small , and the food was good but not great. I probably won’t revisit as it was a bit noisy too . If you searched for a Dishoom and you’re looking here, don’t bother as the menu will disappoint. But if you just want a quick bite to eat , it will do. Staff very friendly.

All the food was delicious as usual. Just like in all the other Dishoom restaurants we've been to, which is a good sign of consistency. We tried the Prawn Recheado for the first time and we loved it. Of course we had the staple Black Dahl that we keep coming back for. For dessert I highly recommend the Coconut Caramel Custard.

While it can be busy in the evenings, the Permit Room is very quiet in the mornings and an ideal place for breakfast. The portions are massive and the Chai is bottomless. The rooms are clean and the beds warm and comfortable. All rooms are en suite with very good hot shower. My only quibble is that the "bath" towels were a little on the small side, but adequate for drying off after a shower. There was a hair dryer in the room and an iron was available on request. We had a lovely evening meal on the first night. It was absolutely delicious 😋. Breakfast each morning was also very good. Plenty of hot coffee, toast etc and the cooked breakfast was cooked to order. The staff were very pleasant and friendly and really helpful. Our stay was very good value for money.
Angela F — Google review
Requested to book a few tables for a group of us to gather and perhaps do a bit of guitar playing/singing with - just within our group, using the large outdoor area the pub offers. The manager demanded to know what sort of music people may be playing, which I found a very strange question - there is a big range of music that can be accompanied by a guitar. When I tried to explain, the manager hung up on me. This is not the way to react to an offer of bringing a large group of customers to your pub. We are grateful for other pubs being more welcoming and friendly to the same request.

Lovely venue, but the pricing is just crazy and way over RRP. Cambridge Juice Co - £5.99 (its £2.50 on their own site) Pizzas - £11 (£8 everywhere else) And charged £4 for a chicory in error, only realised this after walking away and thinking £30 for a pizza, crisps and salad was a touch punchy. Most like it Cold? Attracted by the food at the counter therefore walked in like the majority did. But have been in this cafe less than 5 times. Why? Because it's too over priced. The sandwich and pastries looked genuinely nice. Requested for heating when trying to eat in but failed. The cafe insisted to serve everything in room temperature. No heating service even it charges you more for eating in the cafe. Why? The cafe is too cold inside. Personally I prefer a more warm and cosy environment. Not a cafe with cold bakery products and cold environment. But still, it's a relatively clean environment. The food are standard, better say, no surprise nor disappointment. I know it's very highly rated in Cambridge town centre, but different people have different taste. Most like it Cold I guess. Please don't take my review too hard. Everyone has different taste. No one in this world can win everyone's approval. As it's always some like it hot.

Came in here whilst waiting on some other errands to wrap up. I got an iced mocha and chocolate-almond croissant for dine in. The croissant was very nice and a combination that I'd never had before. I do plan to return to get another of these delicious pastries. The mocha, on the other hand, was not worth the money or calories. It was not chocolatey or sweet enough and did not have enough ice and therefore became watered down too quickly. I might consider returning for a baked good but I don't plan on getting barista drinks from Gail's again.

I had walked past GAIL’s on Saturday and was drawn closer by the bread in the window and then when I looked through I could see lots of really nice looking food and friendly faces behind the counter too, at this point a friend and I already had coffees in hand so we said after we’d explored Cambridge a little more that we would return and get food - which we did. The food is sooooo good - I had the Challah Knot with Harissa Chicken, a spinach and feta roll and a cookie - it tasty fresh and flavoursome - I’m definitely coming back here soon, might also have to bring friends with me so they can experience it for themselves too!

Espresso Lane is a quaint and popular coffee shop in Cambridge, specialising in high-quality espresso and delicious food options. The cafe welcomes all visitors with good humour and strong coffee, making it perfect for a quick caffeine hit while exploring the city. There are plenty of gluten-free options available, making it a great spot for anyone with dietary restrictions.
Excellent little spot in the heart of Cambridge serving great coffe, sandwiches and snacks. Perfect little bolthole if you've been wondering around the city and want a break. Much more quiet and authentic than the other places nearby, it's my go to!

Delicious coffees (even the decaf) and a friendly welcome. It's cosy inside and some seating outside too. Great for a quick stop on your way round the city.

Excellent high-quality Guatemalan beans are used for the best coffee in Cambridge. Owner Engin is a celeb local shop owner who makes anyone who walk thru his door feel at home and relaxed. Music is always high-brow world music lounge. Espresso Lane is a Cambridge jewel. And if you're a regular, it's a 2nd home. Oh, the coffee and food is just like home, but even better. It's the best coffee in Cambridge. Don't believe me - try it. And order a toastie or a risotto while you're at it.
Tatiana V — Google review
At the heart of historic Cambridge but the on a tranquil small lane from the bustling throngs with a beautiful view of the church (and magnolia). Homemade food look amazing (Moroccan lamb stew and mocha brownie?!). Will come back to try them next time! And the items will rotate and change. Macchiato is pretty good. Topped with lovingly steamed foam. Despite the mixed reviews, the espresso today is pretty balanced. Strong, with a fresh acidity and not bitter at all.

Best (and cheapest) coffee bar in Cambridge. Relaxed, informal atmosphere. The owner Engin is a stand-up guy. The food is top-notch, handmade, and comforting stuff. Perfect café to spend a couple hours unwinding. The regulars (and owner) are hilarious, so don't go if you're trying to study! (or go if you're procrastinating). Will miss this place when I leave.

I love Espresso Lane! If you want coffee in Cambridge, you MUST go here. It’s the best coffee shop far and away. Some background: I was a graduate student at Cambridge from 2016/2017, and this coffee shop was always a sanctuary in between classes or whenever I was feeling down from the cold rainy weather. Everything about this place is special, starting with the owner. He gets to know you, makes you smile, and really offers a true, intimate customer service that is missing at most coffee shops these days. His banter is also hilarious and he really makes you feel completely at home and comfortable. Something special about him! Then, the coffee — some of the best I’ve had anywhere in the world. And super affordable… fantastic value. The ambience is also so nice as the coffee shop is off the bustling main streets and makes for a quiet sipping inside or outside. Yet still centrally located! I’m writing this review after being back in Cambridge 7 years later… and this place was my first stop! Perhaps that’s the takeaway and says all you need to know — can’t recommend Espresso Lane enough. -Alex Russell

Nice cafe in the center of Cambridge University. It’s quite pleasant and quiet, despite being close to a big street, and their coffee was pretty good (and strong!). The service was friendly and fast. It’s quite small though, so don’t count on finding space for large groups.

It's a small place - in an out of the way area of Cambridge. I'd imagine there is a torrent of people in around 8am-10am made up of workmen and school run mums from the school opposite, which is why I chose to visit at around quarter past 10am. The staff are really friendly. The coffee is among the best I have tried around cambridge and the breakfast is just as good. You can tell the ingredients they use in everything are good quality. It didn't take a long time to serve our food, but it wasn't quick enough to have come out of a microwave so that was a good sign. It wasn't greasy or heavy, the food was literally cooked to perfection. Now there may not be as much served on your plate as say, wetherspoons breakfast - but I felt twice as full and ten times as satisfied. I will be coming back here regularly and recommend everyone else to do the same. Best breakfast in Cambridge by a long way.

I come here for lunch at least once a week. It's a great location with convenient parking. The sandwiches are great and always taste freshly made. The atmosphere is inviting and friendly, the only downside is you have to use a code to get into the toilets. The food was excellent! I got the Turkish eggs with some streaky bacon and my girlfriend got the French toast. It’s a lovely decorated restaurant with plenty of seating. Pleasant brunch spot! Came here for brunch with a friend and it was a nice atmosphere. Turkish eggs were great, had enough of a spicy kick. And Darshana, our sever, was really attentive and constantly checked to see if we were ready to order and if the food was ok. Would recommend!

Not a great experience. Some nice wine and drinks that’s about it. Food was of poor quality and after getting home finding out we have been very ill since… Had the lamb tacos which didn’t seem fresh, the chicharrones which I think seemed a little old as I have experienced fresh ones before… and the ‘’ smoked salmon ceviche’’ which is funny as the chef can’t of understood the process of ceviche as their was no citrus at all. It was a smoked salmon tomato salad. Fries was the only safe dish. Will return for a drink maybe but certainly not for food.

Le Patissier, Cambridge serves English Tea with Scones and Baguettes. We relished their English Breakfast Tea with Scones, Butter and Jam. The Scones were freshly baked and delicious. We first visited on spec because it looked clean on the outside and calm on the inside. A board outside with food and hot drinks info helped to make our decision. A happy relaxed greeting, prime seats in the window and we were cheerfully looked after. Coffees and ham with cheese paninis. Plenty of filling and you can have an included side salad the size of a bowl in the price, or exclude as we did. Other customers enjoyed huge scones and tea. A happy young team of keen, kind, funny cafe running participants. We returned today and had a BLT and Breakfast Baguette. Well made and large portions!! Fully recommended and with views of St John’s College grand entrance. Call in and enjoy.

The cafe provides a laid-back and chill atmosphere with high and low seating options as well as ample sockets for convenience.
0424 So yes breakfast and coffee is better in terms of food. The space is nice from day to night. Greek salad is juicy and refreshing. Pizza is a little disappointing for the hotel offering. Looks and tastes like university cafeteria pizza. The thin crunchy base and the topping aren’t too oily. Not too bad as a light dinner. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The space is laidback and “chill”, with seats high and low and ample sockets. —- Tried this cozy place before boarding an early morning bus and did not regret waking up more than an hour early to have a hearty breakfast here. The latte was also wonderful (especially as the barista really enjoyed making coffee for herself), so I drank rather slowly and took it with me instead of swallowing it when I left for the station.
X — Google review
Ate here a few times when staying at the hotel since guests get 10% off their meal. First time I sat in for brunch and had eggs benedict with salmon and a cappuccino. One of my eggs was overcooked but the other was fine. On another evening I tried a pizza to go. Takes around 15-20 min to prepare. Nothing fancy but was decent size for the price. Food elsewhere would be better, but if not wanting to go far it is convenient.

I really like the vibe of this place, I’ve been here a few times as its closer to the station to hang with colleagues after work. Their pizzas and drinks are good, however service is average. Tried the English breakfast and oof it was rough. The eggs and sausage were good but the food was relatively cold and the bacon was the saltest thing I've ever eaten, I had to spit out my bite and drown it down with water, I nearly threw up it was so salty. The cafe is very clean with cute cat decor that’s warming but not over the top. The customers and staff were on first name basis which was lovely to see and gives a great sense of community and obviously regular customers is a huge positive. The service was lovely, friendly, helpful and efficient. Thank you Mario. The food was divine. I ordered pan-fried mushrooms on sourdough toast and asked to add scrambled eggs. Nice cosy little cafe with a good range of choice on the menu. Sadly the service is simply not up to scratch. We arrived and ordered promptly, the cafe was not busy. Our coffee took 30 minutes to come and the food another 15 minutes after that. The poached eggs were hard on both plates although sourdough and hollandaise were nice. During the time we were waiting ten people came in and sat down, eight of them were served both drinks and food (hot and cold) before us.

5/5 Stars – Great Breakfast, Great Value Popped into The Earl Of Derby in Cambridge for their full English breakfast and was really pleased. At £7.95 including tea or coffee, it's a great deal. The food came out quickly and the portion was generous — big sausage, plenty of bacon, hash brown, egg, beans, toast, and tomatoes. I asked for no mushrooms and they got that spot on. Tasty, filling, and in a relaxed pub setting — exactly what you want from a proper breakfast. Will definitely be back!

We went to the pub and it was good, but not somewhere I would come and stay for a long time. You have screens to watch football and some eating area outside, with cars parking around. The toilets were easily accessible. Bar staff was friendly, but needed to wait a bit as they were showing some rooms for the guests. The drink choice was good.

I didn’t stay at the hotel, but the breakfast and service was phenomenal. Unfortunately their ticket system went down and my order didn’t get sent to the kitchen when I first ordered. However, due to previously working in hospitality myself, I perfectly understood as this had happened many times where I used to work. The staff were so apologetic about this mistake and quickly offered me a free wine and brought out the breakfast, cutlery and sauce to me in no time at all. Fantastic service and the breakfast tastes even better than how I remember!!!! Date of visit: 01/04/2025 Time: 11:40 AM

DO NOT STAY!!!!! THEY MIGHT BE LOCKED UP AND YOU CANT GET IN. Booked to stay, stating anticipated arrival was 10pm. Flight was delayed, so arrived at 11pm, which is 30 minutes before the stated Checkin closes. All lights off, couldn’t get ahold of anyone, tried ringing and messaging. Was left stranded at 11pm with no where to stay (I am a female traveler) Disgusting. When I came in the next day the girl on the bar was fantastic and helpful, but then the guy who was meant to be on duty (the night before) showed up and started shouting at us saying we were lying about calling when we arrived, and that we hadn’t called or knocked. Very aggressive and intimidating. We left because we didn’t want to be shouted at by an aggressive man. Do not stay here!!!!!!

Just left this venue and have nothing but positive feedback! Affordable prices, great atmosphere, lovely decor. Taylor, who was running the place during my visit, was consistently available, constantly kind and impressively personable. My visit was full of the regular oddities that any pub must face, but Taylor remained professional whilst retaining her enthusiasm. I don’t want to sound condescending but this is an incredibly difficult feat in this sort of environment, I was very impressed by this and it made me feel very comfortable in a place I hadn’t spent time in before. Prices good, chips were some of the best I’ve had in my life, and the aforementioned staff were great. I highly recommend The Earl of Derby!

Very nice. Impressed with the brand new carpet, soft beds, and attention to detail. Safe and clean. Would highly recommend staying at the Earl. Glad we stumbled on this quaint place.

I cannot stress enough how disappointing my stay at this hotel was. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that Beatrice, the owner, has no regard for her guests' comfort or satisfaction. First, the room was filthy. Stains on the carpet, dust everywhere, and the bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The sheets had an odd smell, and I found hair on the pillow that wasn’t mine. When I brought this up to Beatrice, she was dismissive and outright rude, claiming I was being “too picky.” The noise level was unbearable. Thin walls meant I could hear every conversation, footstep, and even the TV from the room next door. When I asked if there was a quieter room, Beatrice shrugged and said, “This is a hotel, not a library.” The so-called “complimentary breakfast” was a joke. Stale bread, watered-down juice, and coffee that tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. When I mentioned this to Beatrice, she rolled her eyes and said, “It’s free—what do you expect?” The final straw was the lack of security. My room door didn’t lock properly, and when I expressed concern, Beatrice brushed it off, saying, “Nothing ever happens here.” I didn’t feel safe staying there and ended up cutting my trip short. To anyone considering this hotel: save yourself the trouble and stay elsewhere. Beatrice’s complete lack of professionalism and care for her guests made this the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Do not waste your time or money here!

Very good food! However there werent a lot in when we went. The hot wraps are amazing and the satay salad/ wrap is so good! Great prices and lovley little desserts. Lots of sandwiches to choose from. Didn't appreciate the bathroom lock code since you only find out after going up the stairs but nice seating and area. Nice and quick servers too.

We've got the prett app and use it regularly, make some great savings on the road. We love the cheese and pickle sandwich and wish they did other sandwiches in the same bread. Don't overlook the salads, all great.

From the perspective of a student trying to get work done, this place blows. There are no outlets or WiFi, and the coffee doesn’t make it worth it when there are better places in town such as Savino’s. If you are a tourist or just looking to get an average cup of coffee to go it isn’t so bad.
Grant P — Google review
Lovely experience at this Pret this morning, the employees at the till were so kind and friendly, and I managed to receive a free pastry from a customer who had a free one as part of his membership but can't have it for healthy reasons. Yummy 😋
Luciana A — Google review
Nice and comfortable Pret in the middle of the city. Staff is generally friendly but changes a lot time by time, however, the regular and permanent staff is friendly despite the challenging nature of their job. The place usually kept clean and tidy. It's located on ground floor but there are extra seats available upstairs. Ground floor is accessible and spacious though. Drinks not the best but the food is tasty and not overpriced. I can recommend it.

Generally good, staff are nice and drinks are quick. I knocked a bit off as there are very few power outlets upstairs and the wifi is extremely slow/weak. If those could be solved then it would be a five star experience!

Trokel, Ulmann & Friends is a cozy and popular coffee shop that serves espresso drinks and light food options such as soups and sandwiches. Situated near the Sedgwick Museum, this cafe offers a warm atmosphere with friendly staff who provide excellent service to all customers. The mozzarella, tomato, and pesto ciabatta is particularly delightful, complemented by an outstanding cup of tea - one of the best I've had in a cafe for quite some time.
Very warm welcome from the lovely lady as we walked in. She took good care of our food and her enthusiasm lightened our times there. Although the space was very small, it perfect for a cozy short stay to have a coffee and late lunch. The interior was retro and nostalgic, we love the simplicity of the food they offer.

I haven’t been here for a long while and it’s still cozy and friendly little cafe :) The uplifting atmosphere as well as the hearty food made my day. My first time trying the beautiful panini here, which has been tempting me for years. The crust is perfectly crunchy and the pastrami and pesto and mozzarella get along so well inside. So many lovely options of quiches and paninis and blackboard menu. I’ll start to come back more often XD I don’t know why my old review is gone but yeah their quiches are delicious.

Unfortunately, I didn’t catch the owners name, but she is one of the most wonderful people you’ll ever interact with. She’s the kind of person that knows every local’s name, and greets strangers with a smile. She truly cares for each and every person who enters her café. On top of this, the food quality is great and the flavors are spot on. The coffee is excellent and she isn’t afraid to customize things for you. I just wish I found this spot sooner. I was only in Cambridge for a few days, but if I ever come back this is one of the first places I will visit. I simply cannot recommend Trockel, Ulmann & Freunde enough!

A lovely country cafe with good food, perfect for a relaxing break. The staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable. It's also great for dessert!
19Sep2024 A superb little cafe, with a distinct European feel. It offers a range wide of foods - from wraps to sandwiches, to luxurious cakes, to all-day English breakfasts - at prices which make it an every eatery. A gem of Cambridge.

A lovely little cafe with an extensive menu for a variety of tastes, preferences, and palate. The food was beautifully presented, well cooked, and amazingly quick to arrive. The place has a very cosmopolitan feel while still remaining quite chic, with a flair of European taste about it. Seating is limited due to its size, and it was busy, however, the service was quick, and it is order from the counter service. For the majority of the review, it is easily 5 star for me. However, my child wanted a jacket potato, which was only available on the adult menu, so I had to pay adult price. This said, as a food connoisseur also, she did rate it very highly indeed, so credit where it was due! My wrap was so good. Great job 👏 👍 👌 🙌 😀 💪

Popular local Italian deli, expanded some years back to include a cafe in the back. Legendary pizza sold by weight from massive trays (if it has not all gone), loads of pasta/sweet treats/charcuterue/cheese etc, nice space for powerful coffee. Forza Italia 🇮🇹☕♥️‼️ (Update: from a doorway, I was able to photograph a pizza on its way from kitchen to deli counter. I told you they were massive! Though this one appears to have had a corner "taxed" by the chef. Can't say I blame them 🍕😋)

Marks and Spencer is a multi-level store located in front of the market Square. The ground floor houses a supermarket offering a wide range of groceries, while the first and second floors feature clothing for men, women, and kids. Additionally, there's a convenient café on the second floor where visitors can enjoy coffee and access clean toilets. Customers appreciate the high-quality food market offerings and friendly staff.
Good Value Pastries It's the £2.60 pain au chocolat I have mentioned before. It weighs 95 g. While the original one costs £1.25 and weighs 83 g. The expensive pastry has a lot of fillings. Tasted nutty and rich. With a lot of nut pieces inside the fillings. Not too sweet too. While the original one tastes okay too. Not crazily sweet with enough fillings. There are also frozen pastries available too. It's £4.50 for 8 pcs. But they are smaller. Only weights 57g. Overall supermarket pastries are cheaper than independent bakeries. I guess it the benefit of mass production. Nothing wrong for mass production at all. That helps the customers with tight budgets to enjoy stuff with reasonable prices.

Good portion, quick service, nice seats. Would have been perfect if they served with real folk and knife than plastic ones as it was uncomfortable to use and bad for environment.

Went in to grab a coffee to go, and ordered my drink with light ice, the two girls working continued to loudly make fun of me and speak awfully about me whilst making my drink, they also seemed to lack common sense and instead of just putting more milk in my drink, they just put half a large cup of cold foam on top whilst complaining about how when you order light ice that you need to specify you want more milk instead. So to make a joke out of the situation they just made me a bad drink, I mean the serious disrespect and rudeness from these two girls was ridiculous, and I wouldn’t expect it from a child. I’m sure there are nice workers here because I’ve been to this store before, but whoever those two working Tuesdays are need to be taught a lesson in customer service and basic respect.

I have never tried anything from this company before. That was until I saw a slot from TooGoodToGo advertising a £9.00 to £3.50 purchase, which I took up on. I have also never been much of a waffle fan, but that changed the day I tried one of these waffles. In my surprise bag, I had 4 waffles, a pot of chocolate chips (to melt), a banana, and four small individual wrapped biscuits. The edges of the waffles had a nice sweet crust, and they went so perfect with the melted chocolate. Would I spend full price on one of these waffles? Absolutely. Not only is it worth the experience, it managed to turn a waffle hater into a waffle lover. I’ll definitely be visiting again in the future.

Bread and Butter is a delightful and cozy place for breakfast and lunch. My family and I visited this gem of a place for 5 days in a row while we stayed at a nearby hotel. They have a variety of options, but our go-to dishes are the breakfast baguette (2 eggs, turkey bacon, turkey sausage, mushrooms), falafel, hummus, vegetables wrap, and the Mediterranean platter. They were all delicious and made to order, so every minute is worth the wait. The staff is friendly and topnotch. The two brothers who own it are welcoming. I was told this place is warm and welcoming but upon arrival today I started by checking the outside notice board when a women came out and without introducing herself or making me aware who she was or why she was engaging with me started questioning me with suspicion about why bi was here and then proceeded to "tell me off " for stating in the window!!! I advised I was reading the notices whereby she told me she didn't believe me (calling me a liar) and that I was to leave! I advised her I simply wished to pop in for a drink and see me friend who works there and she walked back in grumbling about me to the other customers!!! I then met a chap on the counter who kindly served me coffee and seated me away from the " unwelcoming women" I sat to drink my expresso when unwelcoming women started to patrol the area behind wherever Sat in an intimidating way. My friend isn't in for another hour so I left quickly after my coffee I am registered mentally disabled with autism and I struggle to understand society as it is without support workers at a drop in centre challenging me without reason and making me feel unwelcome and treating me unfairly! Marks and Spencer, known for its reasonable prices and clean environment, offers a range of products from bakery items to fashion and perfumes. The store is praised for its fantastic perfume dupes at affordable prices. Customers also appreciate the helpful and polite staff, such as Eva and Tyler, who provide excellent service. Additionally, M&S has been recognized as one of the top three bakers in the UK, showcasing their excellence in the industry.
This review is about the staff. The staff at the entrance always greeted customer courteously, giving the impression that everyone entered is a valued customer. Well done. This is somewhat a big contrast to other shops on the street.

Delivery destroyed items, M&S did nothing about it. On the 5th of April, Royal Mail delivered my M&S order in an unacceptable way. Instead of giving the parcel to the neighbours, they threw it into the garden where two dogs ripped all the clothes to shreds. My dogs always bark when the garden is approached so the delivery man knew what he was doing. I called and wrote an email on the same day to M&S customer service and got no response. On the 17th of April I received a reply from Royal Mail saying that they can only refund the destroyed items (£75 total) when M&S contacts them. On the same day I contacted M&S customer service again but again, no response. I regret that I was buying items from M&S for years.

Do not shop at NEXT! Shop M&S! I came and purchased a suit this evening just before the shop was due to shut. The staff were absolutely brilliant! I dealt with three people, a very jolly man (ds) picked out my suit and was full of compliments :) A young long black haired lady with a grey outfit stayed after her hours to help me gather everything else I needed along with superb advice! The lady at the checkout went above and beyond to make sure we received our 10% as new customers! I know where I’m going for my next suit :)

I ordered a Vanilla Vanilla Two Tier Naked Cake, and some made to order sandwhich platters. The sandwich platters order was cancelled last minute due to M & S being hacked, understandable. However, when the cake was collected, which comes in two boxes and then needs to be assembled, they were only able to provide half the cake! Disappointing.

i had to buy some clothes as one of my family was admitted to Addenbrokes hospital nearby. M and S I thought would be just right. I was very disappointed the variety of clothes was very narrow. Felt like an outlet store, not at all the experience i would get at my local store. I thought maybe there was a primary flagshop store elsewhere in Cambridge but there isn't. Visit M and s somewhere else. Maybe the store is about to close. Very strange.

16/5/2025 4pm staff being racist, skinny bloke and mid-aged woman, both in glasses. Unprofessional, inappropriate, rude. Disappointing experience, will not return

I have just purchased my first online order from the m&s app, and I must say it 4 of the best purchases I have ever. Thermal underwear long john shirt and trousers x2. I doubt I will take them of for ages. I'll let you know how for the wicking recommendations. Thank you M andS
