Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Torre de Hércules, located in A Coruna, Spain, is an ancient Roman lighthouse that stands at 55 meters tall and is the second tallest in the country. It was originally built during the reign of Trajan and has been functioning since then. The lighthouse offers stunning views of the city and coastline from its top, which can be reached by climbing 245 steps.
Definitely the most important landmark of the city and most likely one of the most of northern Spain and Spain itself you’ll get not only immerse at the ancient story of this place, but also in a great views of the whole city and the ocean this place is amazing very well conserved and the tickets were actually very affordable. No doubt you should make this one of her stops my wife and I visit this during the morning and it was very affordable. The climb is moderate hard, bring, of course comfortable clothes and shoes it takes 15 minutes to 20 minutes climbing stairs to get up there, but you can rest up there enjoying a great views just heads up. Be careful of people asking for money in the parking lot. Just stay away if you can get there by public transit better.
Marcos D — Google review
Ticket boot is placed far away from the tower, so if you're coming a different way (from beach) you're going to miss it and you cannot enter. Online tickets are sold out as a rule. Anyway you can walk around and enjoy the wind from the ocean 🌊
Mersida B — Google review
We visited as part of a cruise stop in August. It's Worth being driven to the foot as its an uphill walk. The views get amazing with each step but it does require some exertion. If you want to see the roman ruins inside you need to book tickets. They are not sold at the entry so best check online. If you're tall, you will not be able to walk up straight in some areas but the lightening is good and artefacts are well labeled. There are stone stairs, at least 200, leading to the top of the tower which has even more majestic views. I advise pacing yourself and not being in a hurry to enjoy it fully and take time to catch your breath. Unless you're fit, don't have kids or the elderly with you. If you're claustrophobic this is not for you. Would highly recommend and would revisit at a more leisurely pace in the future. Don't forget to buy the tickets before arriving! You will certainly get your step count in!
Melinda ( — Google review
A spectacular feat of engineering of it's day, understanding the strategic and commercial importance of why it was built is a story in itself. Entry is by ticket purchased at the bottom of the long ramp or on line. Entry is every 30 minutes for a limited number of people ( perhaps 30) there is no one to hurry you and you could stay longer. There is an exhibition of it's history at the lower level then 234 steps (and no lift ;-) ). My only constructive criticism is that the information boards are poorly placed and not illuminated. I couldn't manage to read many of them.
Stephen T — Google review
I would highly recommend you to purchase tickets online. We got here at 2 o'clock and there was no line, and there was nobody here, but they refused to sell tickets, it is a beautiful place. It could be a wonderful sunset. It's a wonderful place to walk around lots to see just to the south, there's more stuff to see if you continue to walk down the boardwalk, I would suggest you be prepared to walk a long way up a hill, if you do not. Have the right shoes nor or have the ability to do so I would think twice about going there. It offers wonderful. It's sunset photos as well as evening photos at night with the lights during the day. They sell ice cream and drinks at night. There is nothing there. There's plenty of parking down on the bottom. And it appears that you can drive up the ramp, if you're handicapped, it does it appear that there is parking but I did see cars parking up there. On the hill, by the door.

The Torre de Hércules is more than a lighthouse — it’s a symbol of A Coruña’s identity. Visiting it is like stepping back in time, while enjoying some of the most spectacular views in Galicia. An absolute must-see for anyone coming to this beautiful coastal city
Haitham A — Google review
The Torre de Hércules in A Coruña is seriously impressive—it’s actually the oldest working lighthouse in the world, dating back nearly 2,000 years to Roman times. Even without going inside, just walking around it is worth the visit. The views of the sea and the city from the cliffs nearby are absolutely stunning. It’s the kind of place where you can just stand and take it all in for a while. There’s a nice open feel to the area, and the mix of history and ocean makes it a really memorable stop.
Summer A — Google review
Didn't go inside the tower itself, but it's a great historical landmark, and the sculpture park in the rocky coastal landscape around it made for a wonderful sightseeing walk.

The Fine Arts Museum in A Coruña is a treasure trove of Spanish art, showcasing pieces from the 19th century to contemporary works. Notably, it features masterpieces by Goya and highlights the artistic evolution of Pablo Picasso during his time in A Coruña. Currently, visitors can explore exhibitions that delve into Picasso's legacy and the influence of this vibrant city on various artists. The museum itself is housed in a beautifully restored former Capuchin convent, adding to its charm.
Really nice visit; a beautiful little cultural beacon, just a few minutes walk from the Praza de Maria Pita. Free admission. Easy to spend an hour or two wandering about due to the diversity of the works shown; included was an interesting Goya collection. I enjoy 'hidden' gems such as this one, and found a couple of new favorites!
A.L. P — Google review
Amazing collection of many beautiful paintings, I especially enjoyed the 19th and 20th century section. The Goya room is an interesting look into engraving and the temporary installation of Rubens’ paintings of various myths cannot be missed! (January - December 2025) It is special that there are so many paintings by artists from the region, from Asturias too, and a fair few from A Coruña itself. Foldable seats available for those needing to rest, elevators available inside. Well-price and small gift shop with pretty hand fans, books, T-shirts, bookmarks and tote bags
Ali — Google review
Interesting local museum of Galician and national Spanish artists. Its free so no need to get a ticket, only has limited English interpretation via a leaflet - but Google translate is your friend. The temporary exhibition space is large and about a third of the museum overall so do check out what's on. There isn't a cafe but there a plenty of good options nearby.
John F — Google review
A treasure. Free entry, even for special exhibitions. They have a great collection of early Sargadelos pieces, plus tons if Goya etchings that are absolutely worth seeing. The Sorolla exhibition had few paintings but did include absolutely fascinating sketches that I would have loved to continue examining in a catalog. The 20th century artworks give a nice overview of Galician artists. A handful are represented in catalogs in the small but nice gift shop. The staff was kind and the museum is spacious and comfortable to walk, not too overwhelming in scale but definitely worth a visit.

Free entrance museum with very nice arts works from Galician artists

Pleased I could get in a visit on a Sunday. Thought I needed a couple of hours but managed to visit in about an hour. Bonus as it was free entry. All descriptions in Spanish and QR codes takes you to webpage that can be translated. But the audio guide for highlighted pieces are in Spanish. Enjoyed the ground and top floor exhibitions most which had the sculptures and modern art respectively. Lovely to see several artists present drawing the sculptures. Staff are helpful. Lockers available plus umbrella stand which you can secure your brolly. Has a tiny shop with merchandise and art postcards, umbrellas, and bookmarks etc. for sale. Toilets were pristine.
Ly M — Google review
Very nice museum , worth a quick visit, in display Goya's print and Sargadelos China collection. Has a good collection that covers Flemish to Galician painters, even a large format Sorolla. Entrance is free, so like I said even just to enjoy the building is worth a quick visit. Well adapted for handicapped
PM H — Google review
A wide range of styles and eras with good representation of Spanish artists. The galleries are spacious and bright with plenty of room to stand back, admire and take one's time. A very amusing display of Goya engravings also add to the enjoyment of a visit to this museum. In addition there are displays about the history of coinage, the Madrid art collection of Philip IV, and several modern sculptures.

In the vibrant city of A Coruna, visitors can explore the modern and playful side of the city at Domus, an interactive museum housed in a striking sail-shaped seafront building. The museum is dedicated to human physiology and perception, offering an immersive experience for all ages. A trip to A Coruna also offers opportunities to visit historical sites such as the Tower of Hercules, a Roman lighthouse symbolizing the city's rich history.
The welcoming staff at reception set the tone for this interactive museum that interestingly presents mankind. The museum is particularly geared up for younger visitors but even adults will discover a few new things. Great place to take kids, particularly if it's not beach weather outside. Well 👍 done.

This is a great place to go to fill your day if you have children, it's not for adults and can be very born for adults. It's more like family, friendly and for kids lots to see and do if you take kids, we'll probably take you at least 2 hours to walk through it. I want to play all the games enjoy
Keith B — Google review
Small interactive science museum with some interesting exhibits. It was disappointing that many of the exhibit explanations are not translated in English, which made it challenging to fully understand. Also some of the interactive activities were not operational. However, the architectural design of the building and the views are absolutely impressive. It should not take you than 2 hours to complete.
Angela A — Google review
Interesting to visit whether oldies or children. Lots of interactive exhibits. Most explanations were in Spanish and Galician sometimes English. No cafe just a few expensive machines. It looked like a restaurant was sometimes open. It was free when we went being a holiday.

Great place for people of all ages. The interactive games are fun and you learn a little. The selection of exhibits its fairly limited (hence only 4 stars) but the price is very reasonable and you definitely get your moneys worth. Staff are friendly

Very atmopheric with the audio visuals ..the views are splendid!! The gardens well maintained with great footpaths ..ate well at a pop up event for photography ..good coffee! Helpful staff and the views from the restaurant impressive!!
Abi C — Google review
Fun museum with numerous interactive displays. Particularly enjoyed the first floor section on human intelligence and the games there, including some that can be done as a pair. A bit of an echo so can be extra loud if many children there but of course to be expected ! Temporary exhibit on food is interesting but some sections could be a trigger or upsetting for people with experience of eating disorders. The circle at the beginning of the museum has a showing of birthing videos. This is very interesting but may only be suitable for certain ages with explanations - that part is not for those are uneasy with the sight of blood.
Ali — Google review
It’s OK. Interactive, so that’s good for the kids but a lot of the installations didn’t work when we were there. It’s quite small so that’s either a good thing or a bad thing. There’s no café that we saw but they did have a vending machine. It says out of order, but it did actually work. Clean toilets. Nice staff. Only €2 each which is fair for what it is. But you can buy a pass which includes the aquarium up the road.

Can’t believe this place was free!!! Really fun experience and cool to see so many different inventions that made such an impact on the world. Only floor 1 was also in English so had to use google translate but it was fun trying to guess what the inventions were before we used it. We were there for just over an hour but could have easily done more if we went earlier. Really great for both adults and kids.

Majority of descriptions are in Spanish so used Google translate to understand the exhibits better. Staff were very helpful. Lockers are provided. A great place to visit and it's free. Recommend.

We really loved this museum, such a gem that you might expect to find in a big city, like Madrid or Barcelona (yet there is none like it), I guess that's why they've named it the National Museum of Science. Lots of interesting information for all ages! The building itself is modern, tall and beautiful (wheelchair friendly). Each floor has original pieces, cars, motorbikes, even a 747 airplane (clearly the star of the museum). You'll be shocked at the size of the first television! We thoroughly enjoyed learning about everything, information is clearly written (but only in Spanish). Google lens can translate what you don't understand. And best part, it's free!!

Nestled in the heart of A Coruña, Casa Museo María Pita is a captivating tribute to the city's legendary heroine who bravely defended against English forces led by Francis Drake in the 16th century. This museum occupies a historic residence that once belonged to María Pita's first husband, Xoan Alonso de Rois. Visitors can explore multiple levels filled with fascinating historical reconstructions and archives that vividly depict daily life during this era.
Excellent venue for aspiring artists.

We very much missed the accounting of the historic event Maria Pita was heroically involved in plus the fact that the boards showed explanations in Galician language only. Nevertheless the museum was very much nice to see and enjoy. A must-see for city history lovers or enthusiasts

Jardines de Méndez Nuñez, located on the eastern side of a bustling street, offer a serene retreat with benches to relax and take in the surroundings. On one side, visitors can admire the impressive architecture along Rua Canton Pequeno, while on the other side, they can enjoy views of the harbor. These gardens are an urban gem that reflects 19th-century urban design but also exude a sense of identity and community artistry.

(Translated by Google) Here is the explanation of the John Lennon statue: In the Méndez Núñez Gardens in A Coruña, there are a number of monuments, mostly depicting famous Spanish people or those with a connection to Galicia or the city of A Coruña. At first, I wondered what connection John Lennon might have to this place. Our tour guide enlightened us with a little anecdote: Rosaura Lopez Lorenzo, who comes from Galicia, was a maid in John Lennon and Yoko Ono's apartment in New York from 1976 to 1980. In 2005, she wrote a book about this time: En casa de John Lennon (In John Lennon's House), and she and a group of the singer's fans campaigned for the monument to be erected.

Mega Museo Estrella Galicia offers guided tours of its brewery with interactive museum displays, providing a personalized digital wristband to unlock exhibits and learn about beer culture and production. Visitors can also enjoy beer tastings in the rooftop bar, including beer and cheese pairings. The tour is led by knowledgeable guides who share the brewery's rich history and brewing techniques with infectious enthusiasm, making it an educational yet enjoyable experience.
A fantastic museum experience that will undoubtedly prove to be interesting even to non-beer drinkers. Educational and interactive, the exhibit provides an extensive journey through the history of Estrella Galicia along with the production process of their beers. We opted for the self-guided visit and we couldn’t recommend it more. We went on our own pace through the museum and having went on a Tuesday afternoon, we had the whole place to ourselves. After the visit, we sat down and enjoyed a complimentary beer and local chips that were a great treat after the extensive tour. Couldn’t recommend more if you are in A Coruña!

I just had the most amazing first visit to a brewery! Everyone on the staff was so friendly and wore the biggest smiles—it really made the experience special. I couldn’t help but think that maybe the delicious beer had something to do with their cheerfulness! Haha! It was truly unforgettable! To top it all off, we got to enjoy a beer of our choice along with some tasty potato chips at the end of the tour. What a fantastic day!
Eduardo M — Google review
The museum is well laid out showing the process of Estrella Galicia beer origins and beer making in general, but most specifically Estrella Galicia. They spared no expense in the creation of the museum. It's best to do your own tour through the museum and at the end you can order flights of the various beers at their upstairs beer bar. Definitely worth the visit. A tour guide is optional but not necessary. Be sure to ask for audio in your language if you don't speak Spanish.
Patricia F — Google review
The museum is nice. It tells you about the family that began the beer brand Estrella Galicia. Which has been going on for over 100 years. Pros: the people that work there are very nice. Very knowledgeable. Tickets are easy to buy...€17 adults and €11 children without guide. You can either buy them at the door or online. My advice to buy online and choose your time (hourly increments) There are also guides packages that you can buy with added extras. See website. Cons: We've been to another beer museum (which I will not mention here and entrance fee was 9 euros more expensive.) which was diverse. They had a live act and a band. They let you taste their various beers and at the end you had a free beer of your choice. This is not to take away from the experience we had here though and maybe they have a different idea on what you want to take away. I'm proud to be Galician! I'm proud of our territory, our major brands but most of all our people who never give up. Cons

Another major brewery ticked off for us. Plenty to see in the Museum of Estrella Galicia. 7 different areas including advertising, bottling, growing etc. Great little shop at the end as well as a bar and restaurant at the top.

Simple to book on-line. Originally the start time was 14:00 but was then changed to 17:00 which was no problem. Arrived about an hour early and were allowed in as soon as we arrived. Very pleasant & professional staff. Quite a warm day so the beer at the end was very welcome :-) We booked the self guided tour but if I visit again I will be booking the tour that included the various beers & cheeses. A very pleasant & interesting tour.

Castelo de Santo Antón is a historical fortress dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries, strategically positioned to close the entrance to the port of Coruna. It now houses an Archaeological Museum featuring exhibits on ancient weaponry, archaeological artifacts from the castro culture, Roman domination period, and historical evolution up to the 19th century. The castle offers stunning views of the city and its scenic port from its walkway.
I highly recommend to visit this small, but unique castle- museum. The entrance fee is less than 2 euro, but this ia a case, where a small , but unique collection of museum exhibits impresses more and us remembered better than a vast exhibition in a huge museum

Excellent fortress turned museum right on the maritime walk in A Coruña! Beautiful views once you reach the top. There are very interesting artifacts inside as well (including an old viking ship). Don't miss the area where the water fills up with the tide. We were told it was once used as a torture chamber for prisoners.
Michelle M — Google review
Entrance is €2 per person so it would be worth it even if it were empty walls. But it's not just empty walls, it's an archeology museum with quite a few things to see and the views are really nice. If you're here, don't think about it, just go in. Recommendation to management: all the writings are in Galician and Spanish only. It would be great to have them in English as well so that us international visitors can learn about your history too.

A short walk from the lovely cruise terminal, this castle also doubles up as an archaeological museum and houses a lot of military and other artifacts unearthed from the nearby area. The castle is a good wander and one can go to the top ramparts to enjoy a good view of the surrounding areas.

This is a relatively simple church, refreshingly so after seeing many Baroque churches. Love the scale of it, the Romanesque arches and especially the Virgin, Child, and saints around the portico. They have smiles!!!! Pretty unusual. In fact, one Saint (?) to Mary’s right, is leaning on the arm of her chair, feet crossed casually. Don’t see that everyday. They have a Gregorian chant tape playing inside which adds to the ambiance. Definitely worth a visit!

Great stadium to watch a match in the middle of a beautiful city! Any seat is good and there are plenty of stands and bathrooms so you don't have to walk too far away from your seat. Totally recommend although the home team is currently in 3rd division (as of 2023),they have quite a history and we're even Liga Champions twenty years ago! It's livy to watch a match and watch seagulls fly by! Tip: bring something to cover your seat as they are often wet and/or a bit dirty.

What a night! The stadium was easy to get in and out off. The game of rink hockey was amazing and Liceo won which made for an amazing atmosphere. I really loved seeing young Picasso's work and their family home in A Coruña. There was lots of interesting items and even prints of Picasso's painting of the apartment when they lived there. The only thing l would have improved, was the historical detail. In that period they didn't use magnolia paint. All the rooms would have been dark rich colours and very cluttered. So this oversight completely changed the character and was much too bright and modern looking.
Madelaine H — Google review
Such a nice house. Very well preserved. It is small, but it gives a nice indication of Picasso's life.

This is very interesting and worth visiting, but it is a shame that, furniture apart , there is no attempt at an authentic interior. There is reproduction of a Picasso painting showing exactly how it would have looked. A typical 19th century clutered home. Instead, the whole place in painted white and magnolia.

Enjoyed the two roulette tables - they're American style (only 1 zero) and you get half your bet back if it lands on zero which are the best odds any casino can offer you on roulette. Pleasant enough place, not too busy but enough to be a good atmosphere. Well located, and opposite a nightclub if you want to go dancing afterwards. Hotel
The Hotel NH Collection A Coruña Finisterre is an elegant and luxurious five-star property located in a prime spot next to the historic center and within walking distance to the beach. The hotel seamlessly blends classic and contemporary design, offering rooms with hydro-massage baths, minibars, and spacious family suites. Guests can enjoy dining at two restaurants - La Terraza with stunning views and live music, or Novo Restaurant - both serving vegetarian and child-friendly dishes.
We stayed here for 19 days in September 2024. It’s a very nice hotel in a good area and all employees go on and beyond to help you. We had some hiccups with the room but it was made right. My biggest complain is that the door card would not work after a few days and I had to keep going downstairs to get new one’s. The magnetic failed a lot. Front desk is super professional. Ida is the manager there and she speaks several languages which makes it very easy and she is very knowledgeable and professional. If I had a hotel business I would love to have someone like her work for me. Adrian and Luis were wonderful can’t say enough of them. In the mornings I would take my oatmeal with milk to have the girls in the dining room warm it up for me in the microwave since I didn’t have one in my room. They were a ray of sunshine every single one of them. They all knew me and knew what I needed without having to ask them. My room was like an apartment. Our king bed was very comfortable. By the way it was very quiet. The views were to die for. The tub is a little hard to get in and out too high. The day we left they gave us a little cute basket of food since we were there so long. I love that the buses are right outside the front door which makes it very easy to get around. Overall this Hotel even though it needs a little updated renovation. For me it’s a 4.9 star.

This review has been a long time in the making! We stayed here for 5 nights last September during the CAUMAS (Spanish Senior Universities) conference. It's an excellent hotel in all respects. We had a comfortable room with a view over the port area. The breakfast buffet is superb with same great view and the service is smiling, friendly and efficient. Highly recommended also for its location within easy walking distance from the centre and right next to the old town.

We had a great stay at NH Finisterre. The hotel team was lovely and so helpful, our rooms were nice and clean. The location was terrific - it was close to all the places we wanted to see and it was fun to watch the all the harbor activity as we enjoyed a coffee in the restaurant. (We didn't do the full breakfast.) Our kids enjoyed the enormous pool. The nearby Terrazza Bar was a great place for our family to enjoy a drink with a good view and play a card game. One v. small note: We'd booked rooms with a sea view and our rooms only really overlooked the pool/health club. Looking at the fine print later I think it said sea views were subject to availability - not a big deal as we didn't spend much time in the hotel room, but FYI.

Very nice stay. Comfortable room. Great location but it was off-season so the area was calm and perfect to explore the city. In summer I imagine a lot more chaos with the port nearby. Wonderful hotel for morning walks out to the peninsula.
L.Robert1991 — Google review
My friend and I booked this room three months ago and specifically requested two separate beds. To our surprise, after traveling thousands of miles, we were informed that the hotel had no rooms with two beds available — they were sold out, and there was no option to change. While the staff were patient, this does not make up for the lack of preparation and poor customer service. After a long and exhausting journey, all we wanted was to rest comfortably in our own beds. Unfortunately, this experience has left us disappointed, and I don’t think I’ll be choosing this hotel chain again.
Charbel E — Google review
Everything went well, rooms are great, location is amazing, great gym, and salty water pool. Breakfast could be better, but as well all on the level. Just don’t forget to ask water everyday, and also keep in mind that your kid will get a lot of sugar surprises after 16:00, keep that in mind.

Further from the city than I thought but it’s a great hotel with swimming pools everywhere and right on the port of Corunna. Breakfast excellent, and personnel were very friendly. Price for beginning of September extremely competitive. I will go back if I’m in Corunna again.

Cantones Cines is a unique cinema located in a deserted shopping mall, giving off an atmospheric vibe that feels like something out of a novel. Despite its unconventional location, it offers a satisfying movie-watching experience with good sound and comfortable seating. The theater showcases a variety of films including family movies and art cinema, making it an ideal spot for both entertainment and cultural enrichment. Additionally, Cantones Cines is praised for its reasonable prices and the availability of snacks such as popcorn and candies.
It is located in some kind of deserted shopping mall, but... I kinda liked it. Made me feel like I was in one of Bradbury's book. It was extremely atmospheric - 9 PM, darkened ocean, we're walking around, trying to find an entrance, and there's only one working escalator which leads us to cinema. We're also satisfied with everything else, like sound, chairs and suchlike. Great place to watch movies in English, we'll definitely visit again

Brigantium, known in ancient times as Farum Brigantium, has a rich history that spans from the Roman era to the present day. This iconic site was referred to as el Faro or el Viejo Castillo during the Middle Ages and is now famously recognized as the Tower of Hercules. The lighthouse's design is often credited to architect Caius Servius Lupus from Coimbra, who left behind an inscription at its base that remains protected today.

Church of St. George is a beautiful place of worship dating back to 1766, making it an amazing must-see for tourists. Visitors can enjoy the peaceful and quiet atmosphere, perfect for contemplation and relaxation. The church boasts a magnificent choir, adding to its charm and making it a nice and wonderful place to visit. It's definitely worth a visit while exploring A Coruna, offering a lovely experience that couldn't be more wonderful on a sunny day.
What a magnificent building, a true house of God! We passed by and there just happened to be a mass / service half way through. It was such a great blessing, and we experienced the incredible atmosphere, during the service of a most moving tangible loving spiritual presence. Really really something special to behold. The internal and external structure is very detailed and beautiful, as well as many icons of the saints and of Jesus, as you can see from the photos. If I am not mistaken, above the entrance it says in Spanish, “House of God and door to the city.” I cannot imagine the history this church has seen and lived through. The fact that is still an active place of worship today stands as testimony to the people of this city and the impact Christianity and the love of Jesus that has blessed these people. Again it was our great pleasure and we were honoured and privileged to have stumbled into the service. The only thing that was slightly annoying was the …. Tourists who also stumbled into the church shortly after us, perhaps without realising a Devine service was in progress, they were quite loud, walking around taking photos… perhaps they have never known or experienced the sanctity of the precedence of God, one day I pray they will learn…! In any case, we strongly recommend you visit this House of God if ever you can. You will not regret it.

In general, the condition of the gates of the old Walls of A Coruña leaves a lot to be desired, it can clearly be improved and it is urgent to undertake conservation and consolidation works throughout the historic complex.
