Nature & Parks
Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park, named after its two peaks, is a tropical forest park known for its scenic beaches and diverse wildlife. The area has rebounded from the 2004 tsunami and now offers vibrant tourism experiences. Visitors can enjoy sunbathing on Khao Lak beach, engaging in conservation activities, and exploring the rich underwater world off the Andaman Sea coast. The park also features mesmerizing waterfalls and abundant wildlife for nature enthusiasts to explore.
It's pretty. I loved the beach the most. There's also a restaurant and toilets. You could have a picnic there too.
Anna S — Google review
We entered the Lam Ru National Park close to the big road in Khao Lak. Ticket was 100 baht per person. The trail goes 1,1 km to Small Sandy Beach. At first this distance seems nothing but actually the terrain can be a bit challenging and takes more time than you think. In pictures it’s difficult to understand but it goes up and down and mostly nature trail, not stairs. Lots of roots, rocks, uneven steps. For elderly and kids, I’d say it’s challenging. Be aware, on this trail you won’t find a waterfall. There are toilets, and one restaurant and at the beach one cafe. Trail is open until 16.30 and don’t exactly remember the wording, but being out there after that time can bring you a penalty up to 100 000 baht. Overall we enjoyed the hike and the views.
Kersti P — Google review
This park is known for the Ton Chongfa waterfalls, which are beautiful, but it requires some tough hiking to see all 5 falls. I would definitely recommend wearing good hiking shoes or closed toed hiking sandals as the trails are very rough at the end of the main trail to access the falls. The first kilometer or so of the trail is well developed and easy to hike, and you can see the first waterfall that is easy to access just off the trail. At the start of the trail to the last 4 falls, there is a difficult stream crossing with large rocks, and a rope across to help you. You may have to wade across. It may be easier to do in the dry season, though. The trails between the last 4 falls are steep, rocky, and often very muddy, so be prepared. It will take you at least 2 hours or more to hike to all of the falls and back to the entrance, so take some water with you. I would definitely not recommend taking children on the rough trails, as it is very easy to get injured from a slip or fall. The entrance fee is 100 baht per person, and the only parking available is on the street next to the entrance. We very much enjoyed seeing all of the falls, and if you are in the mood for a rough hike, then be sure to see all of them.
Mark P — Google review
Amazing place, great nature, you can spot lizards (i saw even a big one) and easy hiking with beautiful beach in the end with small bar with shakes coffee soft drinks. There are toilets in many places. Totally recommended. 100thb entrance, 20thb parking for motorbike.
Aleksander R — Google review
There is a beautiful path walking along the ocean. I like when there’s a shade. So, you can enjoy the breeze of nature without a sunburn.
Lana W — Google review
This is a great hike that ends in a cute beach spot that even has a snack hut and bathrooms. There are some narrow and steep bits so it was more challenging than we thought, but we had a child with us. If you want to skip the long hike drive a bit further to sandy beach entrance and you’re at the end of the trail and can just go to the beach area.
Rebekah S — Google review
With limited time to explore i managed to adventure this beautiful place. Nice place to take picture and rest Hope i have another chance to come here again to take my time to explore all the area They have fee entry but worth to travel
Jefri J — Google review
A good park for a leisurely walk in hot weather. Entrance 100 baht per person. There are two beaches. One to the right of the entrance and the second at the end of the route. Both beaches are very picturesque. Not crowded. Path through the jungle, 1.5 kilometers to go. It is better to wear comfortable shoes. The park left a very pleasant impression.

Ton Chong Fa Waterfall, located approximately 7 km from Bang Niang, is a popular attraction in Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park. The waterfall consists of five levels, with the first level accessible after a twenty-minute walk through a lush rainforest. Visitors can cool off in the large pool at this level before embarking on a more challenging hike to reach the higher levels. The journey to the upper levels involves navigating narrow and steep paths, making it suitable for physically fit travelers.
Amazing place, 100thb entrance, 4 waterfalls in 1km hiking. I was there before 10am almost no one there in high season and it took me 2h but if you go with more people 3h with making photos and small swim with fish spa is enough time. Wear proper shoes after 3d waterfall its getting harder. Beautiful nature. Remember about bringing water. Have fun!

Ton Chong Fa Waterfall – A Journey of Sweat, Fish, and Poor Life Choices Visited this jungle gem thinking, “How bad can a short hike be?” Spoiler alert: very. I arrived full of hope and left looking like a 90-year-old who just escaped the ICU. The first waterfall is gorgeous — totally worth it. They say there are four more... but sometimes, you just have to look mortality in the eye and say: “Nah, I’m good.” Sat with my feet in the cool water, only to be gently exfoliated by a gang of local fish nibbling at my toes like it was happy hour. Very spa-like. Very wild. Also encountered a lost, chain-smoking Russian tourist puffing away like he was on a break from a coal mine. Politely pointed out the very clear NO SMOKING signs, but apparently, nature rules don’t apply if you're carrying a pack of Marlboros and no soul. Pro tips: Bring water. Or beer. Whatever fuels your spirit. Wear actual shoes. Hiking up in slippery beach flip-flops is a bold move — and by bold, I mean stupid. Don’t be me. Prepare to sweat. Like, Niagara Falls levels of sweat. Would I do it again? Probably. But next time, I’m bringing sherpas and a personal fan. Highly recommend.

Only 100 baht for entrance and great waterfalls. You can get to to the first waterfall Stage quite easy but after that you have to do quite some hiking and walking through water. We've done it with sandals quite easy and some parts can be done barefoot. The water is very clean and fresh and nice for a dip. But don't expect to have a relaxing day as the pool areas are quite small
Moritz G — Google review
A beautiful scenic reserve that has 4 different waterfalls! Entrance fee is 100 baht per person, and it includes all 4 waterfalls and a small pool. The distance from the entrance to the 4th and last waterfall is only 1.5km, so I really suggest going straight to it, then entering the waterfalls you liked the most (also, because it's much nicer just going down the road when you're wet, as opposed to climbing the entire way while being wet). It was a very quick walk, and took us only about 45 mins walking from the entrance to the last waterfall, we took some pics on the way, and only on the way back we entered the ones that weren't packed with people (which obviously depends on the weather and time of day). If you're in Khao Lak, this is definitely a must visit!!
Maya I — Google review
Great hike! The waterfall has 5 levels on a straight hike. I stopped at 2. More advanced hikers can keep going. Entrance fee was 100 baht and they sell water (20 baht) and snacks. Spent about 90 minutes here total. The taxi I took waited for me for the return trip to the hotel.
Laura Z — Google review
The national park and waterfalls are beautiful however, the facilities are terrible. There are 2 toilets (at beginning and one at the end) avoid the one at the end, its disgusting, considering you have to pay for entry to the park, they should at least maintain the toilet facilities. The one at the entrance is clean and presentable. Also, the crossing points over some of the waterfalls have all been washed away after heavy rains and so it can be dangerous for people to get across, at some points the crossing mainly rope, planks and branches have all been washed away making it extremely difficult, if not impossible to get to the last waterfall. The walk is approx. 1.5kms to the waterfalls and there are 3-5 waterfalls with varying degrees of flow. You can dip your feet in and cleaner fish will come and nibble on your dead skin... its a great location on a sunny day but be careful during the monsoon season, as the path can succumb to flooding and the way back to the main road from the reserve can get huge puddles and running water if on a bike. There is also a lack of supervision or safety staff around, so if you get in trouble there are no staff present to help. Definitely a place for the steady and fairly agile. Besides the negatives I mentioned here, the reserve and waterfalls deserve a 5*.
Travel S — Google review
Great waterfall to visit. Plenty of water in May. It's a decent trek in, maybe 2km and a 100m elevation. Not ideal for oldies or tiny kids. Worth getting to the top, the signature falls - the swimming in #2 or visiting the "fish spa" at the beginning. Entry is Bt20 for locals, Bt100 for foreigners. It is a national park, so don't be surprised if you meet some wildlife. We saw a snake, plenty of lizards and some overly friendly fish. Bug spray recommended.
Rob L — Google review
This waterfall is so beautiful 🥺 best to visit during rainy season. We went in May, lots of water, had a nice swim and meditation under the waterfall - it was so magical, we ended up going there twice during our trip in Khao Lak. Make sure to wear good grip shoes >> rocky path and bring bugs spray!

Waterfalls
Sai Rung Waterfall, also known as Rainbow Waterfall, is a picturesque cascade located near Pak Weep Beach. Accessible by scooter, cab, or organized day trips, this waterfall offers two options: the easily reachable 20-meter Sairung Waterfall and the five-tiered Tong Chong Fa. When sunlight shines through the water, it creates a stunning display of colors. Visitors can take walking tours to spot unique wildlife like Malayan porcupines and monitor lizards.
This waterfall is really beautiful and is only a few minutes walk from the parking area. By the way, this waterfall is on private land so there is a 20 baht parking fee and 10 baht entrance fee (per person). It has a great swimming hole at the bottom of the falls, so wear a bathing suit. The trail is short, but rocky so be careful. There is a small cafe beside the parking lot if you want a snack or a meal. I would highly recommend visiting this beautiful waterfall when you are visiting Khao Lok.
Mark P — Google review
4 is a good rating if you're hungry or want to stop for a coffee the streamside cafe makes it a great little 5 star secret. If you're only coming to see a big waterfall it will leave you feeling meh. It isn't a small waterfall and it is beautiful but it isn't large either. The water is very clean so you can swim.
Robin M — Google review
Easy access, other than crossing a stream on two planks without a railing, but at least they are concrete and not slippery. The falls are impressive but not spectacular- but then it costs only a few dollars!
Nathan R — Google review
Lovely waterfall. We visited after torrential rain. 50m from the parking area. Easy to do in flip flops if you're comfortable. 20baht parking charge per vehicle. Swimmable and refreshing, not too cold but you're sharing the water with wildlife for sure! Friendly guy in the restaurant by parking. Fruit shakes for 60baht. Worth a quick stop if you're passing or nearby. Probably wouldn't visit if it were more than an hour away.
Rosie W — Google review
went there during the "wet season", was very nice experience, loved it. 10 Baht per person, entrance fee.
Ofir B — Google review
Great waterfall it had been wet in the days leading up to our visit so plenty of water. Perfect swim hole at the base of the falls really lets you understand the power of water. Easy access and definitely worth a visit.
Matt R — Google review
Had private candle dinner here via the Sarojin hotel and was amazinggg , it’s 23,000 Bhat (around £600) but worth it for unique experience with Michelin food . Must be a guest at the hotel, 15 mins car transfer , 3 hrs dinner with private chef and 300 candles , can jump in the waterfall at the end.

Worth to visit during rainy season. Strong waterfall and easy to excess. 20 baht for parking and 10 baht per person.

Specialty Museums
The International Tsunami Museum is a solemn tribute to the catastrophic events of December 26, 2004, when a powerful tsunami wreaked havoc in the Thai islands. Housed in a two-story building on Phetkasem Road, the museum features compelling exhibits including photos and videos documenting the destructive force of the waves. One notable display is the stranded police boat, serving as a poignant reminder of the disaster's impact.
Gerat experience and insight into the Tusnami in 2004 great staff visitor center eith 7 min video on the disaster small gift shop on site free entry and free parking
Steve — Google review
This place called 'museum' is not worth visiting it. It costs 300 Bath for 1 adult. It is not free entrance! Inside you only see pictures after the tsunami and a simple video how a tsunami exists. Both you can see by surfing on the Internet. Outside you see a stranded police boat which was thrown 2 km's inside the land, but for take a picture from the streets, you don't need to go inside the museum for buying a ticket. 50 meters before the museum there is a shop at the left side, also with pictures and handy craft. Entrance is free. Never seen such a bad accommodated 'museum'.
Martin D — Google review
There's a structure that represents the size of the tsunami wave, which is quite interesting. There's also a police boat that got washed inland 2 kilometers, where the boat is still standing now. Put aside from that, there's not much else to see. You could be there 10 minutes
Jessie R — Google review
A good place to visit, a somber moment to reflect on the power of nature and its possible destruction. Many lives were lost and disrupted, those who were saved or survived are thankful that they have been given another chance. Stark reminder of humanity against nature.
YT K — Google review
Small but meaningful museum There’s no entrance fee the introductory film was incredibly moving. It reminded me how powerful and unpredictable nature can be. Thai people are truly resilient and kind. Anyone who visits Thailand should come with respect and appreciation for this land and people.
Neoneo C — Google review
A lot of critical reviews on here but it’s worth noting that this is a non profit organisation. Yes the displays could be better and the videos better quality, however the visit still brings out the horrific disaster that the people of Khao Lak went through (and many others). If you want to save money look on YouTube but if you want to support the cause then pay them a visit. The memorial park is currently under renovation so no access to police boat
Ian M — Google review
Incredibly sobering to be in the place where so many people lost their lives. We watched the entire 1h20min video, but you can come and go as you please. A small museum with a small entrance fee which goes to charity. It's not a shiny spectacular museum, I suspect it doesn't get much funding, but it was poignant nonetheless. We are glad we were able to pay our respects to those lost and to the Thai people, who showed kindness in such adversity and have worked hard to rebuild their communities in the aftermath. Well worth a visit.
Abbie W — Google review
Could have done so much more with this, a Monument with the names of those affected as somewhere to go and remember them. Instead it's 4 rooms with photos and video of the survivors played on a loop. The boat outside is fairly interesting but again not enough information about it and nothing else there. It is fairly interesting but you cannot hear the TVs a and the building is basically a converted convenience store. I would give this a miss and donate directly to one of the Tsunami charities and foundations.

White Sand Beach, also known as Coconut Beach, is often hailed as one of the most stunning beaches in Khao Lak. Situated in the bay north of Pakarang Cape, it offers a picturesque setting for visitors to enjoy. Whether you choose to stay nearby or just spend a day there, this beach promises a delightful experience with its pristine sands and inviting waters.
Quiet and pristine beach. 1 hour from the Out Rigger hotel. There is a lovely bar on the beach called the secret bar that you must visit while here. Plenty of other nearby resteraunts and bars too.
Ben — Google review
It is a lovely beach, not the best I've experienced , not picturesque or paradise, but a good swim and some swings on the beach. The restaurants want you to eat in their establishment then charge you for sunbeds,, i personally think this is greedy. I sat under a tree as did a few others I ordered a chicken fried rice which was mostly vegetables and 3 bits of chicken I was told because its only 100 baht. Though they did offer to swap for chips as my little one wouldn't eat the chicken fried rice. There is a block of free toilets and shower to use which is especially important for anyone of the females that is on a menstrual cycle or anyone that has a wee problem.

Beautiful beach with very calm atmosphere. Right on this spot on the map there is a small cafe run by an elderly Thai couple, which serve drinks for a very affordable prices comparing to the other restaurants around. My mango shake was delicious. Seems like they took a bar of an old abandoned resort. You may also have a walk and see it, see how the nature of jungle „eating“ man made structures.

Pak Weep Beach, located in Khao Lak, is a family-friendly destination known for its tranquil atmosphere and entertainment options. Unlike other beaches in the area, Pak Weep offers a quieter and less touristy experience. The beach is lined with trees and features facilities dedicated to children such as slides, tree swings, and inflatable toys. It's also conveniently located near Nang Thong Beach and La On Village for those seeking nightlife.
Our favourite beach of our month long visit to Thailand. Most other beaches that we went to were really busy which is not our cup of tea at all. This beach was always very quiet and is ideal for walking for miles in either direction, which we did every time that we visited. We were staying in Khao Lak but it worth the 10 - 15 minute journey heading north to get away from the crowds. The sea was always calm and ideal for swimming. We always used The Golden Teak restaurant and bar which is one of the first that you come to as the food and drink were excellent and the staff were brilliant. ( See my review ) We would spend all day there which was so relaxing.

Beautiful part of this coastline very private beach unknown by most visitors. The water is very nice to swim also the beach is great for walking north to south. It's a very relaxing day here sleeping in the sun. Many small bars and restaurants for food or drinks. You can also bring your own. Lots of tables and chairs and sunlounges all free

Such a beautiful beach and good exploration walking north and south. Due to covid craziness all businesses that were on this beach are closed. The hotel here still operates and food at their beachfront pool restaurant is very reasonably priced. We ate and used their pool and facilities. Spent a total of 4 hours at this beach.
Ittamar R — Google review
Big beach with good shells, photographic volcanic rocks and a few chill restaurants. By 11am it started to get fairly crowded in certain areas. That being said it's a huge beach so you could always walk further to escape the crowds.

A Wonderful and unspoiled beach😊👍.if you're staying at Manathai, you will get the full experience, with few people on the beach. They are building a big hotel next to Manathai, so sadly this will change the next few years😢.

Nicest beach that we saw in the area. Fantastic for swimming. Super mellow. Check into one of the mobile bar/restaurants along the beach for cold beers and authentic Thai food. Skip the bigger places unless it rains.

Khao Lak Beach is a relatively new beach destination in an area that previously had little local population or nearby towns. It's a peaceful resort area ideal for those seeking tranquility, but not suitable for those looking for nightlife and excitement. The beach is lined with palm trees and offers scenic sunset views, making it a popular spot for leisurely walks. Khao Lak is divided into different village sections, each offering its own unique charm.
Lovely beach, sandy and great for swimming, surfing. Seafood Resturants around the beach. Great for families

This beach is a very clean, calm and nice beach. It’s not crowded at all. You can witness some amazing sunsets on the beach. It’s a great beach to just take your beach towel and a good book. A mini picnic basket will be useful too. If you are interested in taking pictures, then the water looks blue in the afternoon so that’s the time for some great pics too :)

Ton Pling Waterfall is a serene and picturesque spot with clear water and breathtaking views. It's best to visit during the monsoon for maximum flow and lush surroundings. Visitors can swim, hike, and capture stunning photos. The waterfall is easily accessible and free to enter. Nearby, there are local restaurants offering delicious noodle soup at affordable prices. While the waterfall may get crowded at times, it's still worth a visit due to its proximity to Lam Kaen Beach.
A beautiful waterfall, very close to the Khao Lak's national reserve. It's quite small, so if there are many people it can kind of damage the experience, but it's very convenient to get to as it's only 1 minute walking distance from the parking, and there's not entrance fee so it's worth the visit even if you're not planning to stay at it for a long time.
Maya I — Google review
We came here at the end of a very hectic, interesting, and wonderful day tour of Khao Lak. As a waterfall it was perfectly fine. Nothing amazing. It was nice to be able to sit down and dip your feet in the cold refreshing waters at the end of the day. And the fresh mango you can buy at the stall at the top was amazing.
Michael V — Google review
Worth a quick visit but quite average as waterfalls go. Take rock shoes if you have them. I'd say 10-15 mins you'll be done. Nice to tag on to another trip like rafting.
David — Google review
Took bikes from our hotel as a short trip, was a bit hilly to get there for the kids. Was great and clean to swim in, most tour groups who dropped by only stayed a few minutes so it was not crowded at all. You can climb down the various tiers of the drops to swim, is fairly safe, I would definitely keep an eye out for the water rising during rain.

Experienced with tour, nice place for quick dip & cool down after bamboo rafting tour.

Nice little waterfall with a pool to cool down in on a hot day. There's a small car parking area and only a short, rocky walk to get to the water. Unlike most others, there's no charge or donations required. There are small fish and crustaceans in the pool that nibble at your feet - it made me jump at first but people pay for this as a spa treatment so it's no problem after the initial shock. Downside is that it can get a bit crowded and the parking area really is tiny.

Nang Thong Beach, located near La On in Khao Lak, is a popular destination for tourists. The beach offers a variety of activities such as swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing. Despite its popularity, Nang Thong Beach maintains a peaceful atmosphere with clean sands and palm tree shade. Visitors can enjoy stunning sunsets and free sunloungers that can be easily rearranged. The 2.
A beautiful close to nature beach. We found a lot of wildlife here like crabs, snake, lizard and interesting birds. It's not a typical commercial beach and in the morning there's hardly any space to put your towel down because of the tide, but you just have to walk 10 minutes to get to a good spot. It's great for walking and exploring. Also beautiful sunsets.

Very good hotel good clean rooms nice pool for all ages plenty of places around to visit restaurants and bars really good a little more expensive than outside but I really enjoyed my stay here

Beautiful and secluded more than other areas. I missed it the first time in Khao Lak, but found this street with restraunts leading to the beach on our next visit. Much nicer here than the surrounding area

This beach is also called blacksand beach. The beach is lovely with a lot of treasures as my kids described. It was not very clear but it's still lovely. We stayed at The Sands so we walked out when it was low tide but the waves were quite strong. We love the beautiful fallen trees and the drifted woods.
Han L — Google review
I love this beach. It has not been ruined by tacky big expensive resorts. It retains it natural charm. It is good for swimming (in the dry season). If you go north towards Mai Khao it is pretty deserted. If you stay in the middle it has little street food stalls and restaurants on the beach, with Thai food (but it does not impose and ruin the beach). There are people around here but nothing like other beaches in Phuket. If you go south, it is quieter and pretty with moored long-tail boats. I am so glad I chose to stay close to this beach. There is a good supermarket close by too (Pops).

Love this beach. You can walk a long distance and spend time looking in the lovely rock pools. When you've had enough, there are beach bars to have a bite to eat and a cold refreshing drink. Remember to pick up any rubbish you may drop. I picked up some sharp pieces of glass I'd rather not step on.

Tranquil beach for relaxation. White sand and blue clear water beach. Near to all hotels. No rush can relax and feel fresh. Can be accessed through Phuket and Surat thani by bus. Reasonable accommodation available in Khao Lak town, near to beach. Good food options also available in town. The town and beach are very safe for all. The town is on main road so transport easily available including bus, which ply frequnently connecting major hubs like Phuket, Phuket air port and Surat Thani, centre of transport. Recommend for all who really want to relax in a beautiful tranquil beach with no rush at all. An offbeat station must visit for all

This public beach with clean toilets is quite nice. There's a rocky headland. Two beaches and a small lighthouse. There are rocks, shape coral and sand bars so best not to smim unless you are very experienced. The south end of this beach is private with experience hotels.

Miniature golf course
Nestled in the lush jungle, Khao Lak Mini Golf offers a unique and entertaining experience for visitors of all ages. The 18-hole course is designed with Mayan jungle themes, providing an exciting challenge for both adults and children. With friendly staff and well-maintained courses, it's a must-visit destination for mini golf enthusiasts. The multi-level layout features creative obstacles, adding to the fun and adventure.
The most amazing location for a mini golf. Superbly designed holes, in a tropical setting with temple designs and superb scenery. Staff are amazingly helpful and friendly - insect repellent, water, cool wipes. The maze is a nice little bonus and for an extra token bit, there's a "secret" new bit coming soon too. Little café and clean Western style toilets. We have been to any number of mini Golfs over the years and have to say this is the best course we've ever been to, especially when you consider the amazing surroundings. It can be hot, so water, sunscreen, hats and bug repellent, but the staff will sort you out if you forget.

Great experience! Very nice and beautiful place, great service and kindness. The place is beautiful and special, 18 challenging holes for all the family kids and parents. We had a good time. Thank you so much❤️🙏
Sivan A — Google review
Super fun, unique experience! A really great course with cool scenery and some challenges. I thought the price was fair (around £8 per person) for 18 holes in a unique setting. Included in the price is cold water, mosquito repellant and cold towels - in the uk we’d pay more for 9 hole course with no additions! I really recommend doing this course! Staff very friendly too :)
Kasandra Z — Google review
Played 18 holes solo early in the morning. Very unique course with great archeological design including brickwork and stairs and buildings; it was wild and some holes much more difficult than others. Bottom line you may never see a course like this anywhere and it was a lot of fun. Highly recommend.
MAD T — Google review
The positives of this gem.. - The Staff are amazing - The added provisions (water, repellent, cold towels etc) are a huge help. - The course is super fun, kind of difficult and the nature around it is amazing. The only issue we faced, which prevented 5 stars, was that the Maze was quite overgrown, and there were a lot of spiderwebs etc across the walkways, which prevented my kids from wanting to venture too far in. It’s a tough thing to keep such a grown and beautifully dense place managed, but this is just honest feedback. DEFINITELY worth a visit, and probably worth a return. FYI, take cash, as card isn’t accepted 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Good course. Well thought out with challenging holes on different levels. We were offered insect repellent at the beginning and bottled water when we finished. We were the only people there as we went just before closing, so whizzed round, but great fun.

Really nice place to chill, eat and surf. Around 150-200 baht for burger with fries. 100-150 for traditional Thai food. Rent a surf board for 800 a day and do some nice surfing for the whole family. The waves are good for beginners and also fun for medium surfers. //This Recension is in beginning of January

This is our worst food experience in our 14 days holiday. We orderd an apetizer and some kind of coconut dish with seafood and Hawaii pizza. They asked if we would like the apetizer before our dinner, or at the same time. We asked for it at the same time, but it came a long time before the dinner. We waited for over an hour to get any food at all. The coconut dish only came with squid and the pizza was a joke. The pictures showing the pizza was a pure lie, it was half the size and it tastes like a bad frozen pizza. We asked the waiter about it, but he said it was the way they served it. The food was overprised, and the food was dissapointing. STAY AWAY.

Beautiful beach front views with very elegant live edge tables that both my husband and I appreciate. Prices were a bit on the higher side of this area but it's a very popular destination so makes sense. We ordered a plate of fries which is was perfect, crispy on the outside and airy on the inside. Ordered a margarita pizza which is so so. Crust was nice but I didn't like the sweet tomato sauce so much but that's just me. It's next to an Elephant Home claiming to be a sanctuary but we've discovered it is not :( please do not visit and pay into this tourist trap.

Nice quiet beach. But you may get a little greeting from a jellyfish, it's a bit annoying, I was treated by a nice lady from the buffet, but I recommend taking a small bottle of vinegar with you (this applies to the whole Khao Lak area)

We visited this beach for an afternoon because it was highly recommended on several blogs, but did not enjoy it as much as some of the other beaches close by. The sand was not very wide, and the water was rough on the day that we were there. We were able to rent beach lounging chairs for only 100 baht, though. There are several small cafes and restaurants on the beach here, and it is a good place for sunsets, too.

One of the warm and clean beaches in the south of Thailand. We went to Khao Sok from phuket and on our way back we looked for some nice beaches around Phang Nga and coconut beach was recommended. There is also White sand beach close it. What I like the most is that when you get sun loungers with 100baht you can get food with it (included but only food that is less than 100 not drinks) so when u get urself a sun loungers ask for that 😅 we got coconut 🥥 and cheese balls and fries. The coconut was worth it. And it is not crowded which is a plus👌

A very nice beach, small waves and a good start to walk around. The staff from Coconut Beach is super friendly and cleanup the area several times a day. The price for two beachchair and an umbrella is 100 baht. They also sell fresh coconuts and many other drinks and dishes. In the evening the move away the beach chairs and place the dinnertable at the beach. You get here best bi motorbike

Nice quiet beach to enjoy the sunset Really peaceful beach, perfect if you’re looking for a calm place to watch the sunset. The atmosphere is super relaxed and there’s plenty of space to sit and take in the view. Just a heads-up: the beach is quite rocky, so I’d recommend wearing flip-flops or water shoes. Just nearby there’s a great Spanish restaurant called Malamar—an ideal spot for dinner after sunset.

Incredible historical place. The remains of broken corals and shell that got washed by the 2004 tsunami. It’s beautiful in the sunset and you can find fields of corals while low tide.

Laid back and peaceful and at the right time of the year some decent waves can be surfed here. The cape itself was torn off by the 2004 Tsunami and the whole place has never really bounced back from it. Used to be a nice parking area at the end of the road with local Thai restaurants. It was a great place to stop for a snack and a few drinks mid journey. No tourists!!
Gregory S — Google review
Pakarang Cape is a nice place to watch the sunset. There is a big parking lot just in front of it and the way to the beach is short. Unfortunately we were only there for one evening and only experienced the beach at low tide. For swimming it seems to me clearly unsuitable. But for the first time we saw surfers in Thailand who used this place to shoot a video of themselves. At dusk we were attacked by hordes of mosquitoes despite the Insect repellent we used just a short time ago. Some locals made a campfire here in the evening and enjoyed the atmosphere.

The beach is long, wide, almost deserted. The sand is yellow, coarse, clean. The entrance to the sea is smooth.
Maria D — Google review
Maybe it was nice once but now, the are no bars, restaurants or any other walk in establishments next to the beach, only huge places like Ramada who have sliced up the beach. If you don't stay there you have no place to hang out if you want to take a swim. The resorts have walls or concrete platforms running all the way down to the beach so at high tide you can't even walk along the water. Usually at least these kind of huge resort complexes will have their restaurants and bars open to the sides to encourage walk-ins but not here. There is no beach promenade and if you happen to get trapped in one the only way out is to try and work your way up and out though the back, basically all the way up into town. If you want a good beach experience get over to coconut beach instead.

Part of Khaolak, this area saw devastation from the boxing day tsunami, the locals have bounced back like only the Thais know how. Fantastic beach of two halves. We stayed at the northern side and could walk right round to the northern headland. There is still an amount of rebuilding work to be done on the beach front but Rome wasn't built in a day as the saying goes. Favourite bar was Pak Pirania, owned and run by Mr Pak. Great host and great bar with his wife's restaurant on the side, serving great Thai cuisine. One for the road! The town of Bang Niang is small enough to walk round and has a superb night market but only open Mondays , Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Plenty of bars and restaurants to go at. Thai meal with a beer for about £6. Lots of day trips too, Surin Islands, James Bond Island etc but barter for best prices. A visit to the Tsunami Memorial is highlighted with one of the police launches that was washed inland to where it stands today morning than a kilometre from the sea . A very sombre, humbling experience.

It's a must-visit for those seeking an authentic Thai cultural experience. Just a short ride north from La On, this area boasts a famous food and souvenir market with less crowded spaces compared to other areas. While not the largest beach, Bang Niang offers a perfect sunset, calm waters for swimming, and shady spots for relaxation.
Fun very large market with a wide variety of vendors. Many souvenirs options, t shirts and well known brand (most likely knockoffs but not bad quality…) backpacks. You can easily spend a few days walking through this market but before you go make sure to check it’s open since they close 3 days a week.

They have price fixing and not everyone wants to negotiate the prices of certain goods. The assortment is rich and they also consider tourists to be rich. Some sellers believe that if you want to know the price, you have to buy it. The food is delicious and at good prices.

Busy and hundreds of stalls, be careful with prices and haggle well as a tourist market they charge a premium and the next shop over will likely be half the price.. good fun though and great selection of Thai delights.. food choice is great with local specialties such as crocodile and bugs!
Kieran B — Google review
Mix of food and product vendors, many selling the same items (you may prefer to browse through entirely first before buying). Minimal bargaining possible, catered for tourists. Overall not a must see. We liked the ice cream rolls and joined a long line which moves slow only because each order is made with theatrics. The end result is airy and light. Taxis / tuktuks available along main road end of market with flat rates back to hotels (pending distance).

It’s a big night market that caters to tourists. You can tell as no locals eat or buy anything from there. Visitors can enjoy a serene 30-40 minute rafting experience for an affordable price.
Great experience. We travelled there individually. I was with 3 locals and one child. We paid overall 1000 Baht. The driver took us to the starting point. The ride was about 10 minutes. Then we were sitting on 2 bamboo floats. The river flows very slow. It’s interesting to look on the sides of the river. We also got some information from the guide. The whole ride was approximately 35 minutes. We saw one sleeping snake above us on the tree. I can recommend to do the trip. For kids its special fun. It is not an action right. Rather relaxing and chilling.

Fantastic bamboo rafting experience, even in the dry season when water was low. The bamboo rafting was spectacular. Once you get on the raft, there’s someone there who will snap a photo for you and they’ll have the framed photos laid out at the waiting area once you’re done. You can then choose whether you’d like to purchase one and in which colour. The water was so clear and fresh, it felt like I was dipping into a mountain spring, but it was so bloody cold 🥶🥶 Please note: there are quite a few 🐍 around

Even if it’s cloudy, it’s still beautiful and enjoyable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The ride is around 40 mins. We visited Khao Lak Elephant Home today and I can't stress enough how positively surprised I was with all the love and care that is put into the well-being of these elephants! During the visiting hour most of them are kept in their enclosures, though they have enough room to move as well as food and water. Thus they themselves decide if they want to interact with visitors or not. At closing time they leave for the jungle for the night. The animals are extremely friendly and the mahouts are helpful, providing information about the individual animals as well as taking photos for you. We decided to spend some time close up to the elephants while feeding them. The entrance fee is 100 THB and there are 3 different packages on offer if you want to feed the animals: 100THB for a small basket, 200THB for a medium one and 500THB for a basket to feed the babies (the last one already includes entrance fee). It absolutely was worth the money - it is an amazing feeling to be up close to these magnificent animals!

This is a good way to see the elephants without necessarily being expensive (like some other places), and to feed them if you want to. The surroundings are very pleasant and you feel the elephants are being looked after. You even get to go back again another day for free of you want to. I thoroughly recommend it. Nathan

What a great experienced!!! We booked through Google maps link to their homepage. A family of six with a four years old daughter. They picked us from the hotel and we had great welcome. Feeding the elephants, making them a treat, walking with the to the lake and bath them was awesome! Everyone was so kind and the giveaways pictures was beautiful! Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful visit here, the elephants are taken good care of and look relaxed and happy. We took a walk with the Mahut and our very very friendly guide Mee with elephant Thunthong. We could whatch Thungthong bath, you can also join the bathing if you like. It was such a lovely time spendig here and big thanks to Mee making it so perfect and Thungthong of course :-)
Kristina S — Google review
Very fun little experience, the elephants all seemed to be very well looked after and didn't seem too bothered about people. Paid 100 thb per person for entry and can reuse the entry ticket for the duration of our holiday, pay 100, 200 or 500 thb for food to feed the elephants or 1500 thb to bath the elephants. Nice experience if you're in the area

What an amazing experience. The Mahout was beautiful with the elephant and she clearly adored him. She was amazing in the water and allowed me to touch her tummy... her calf kicked me

We had a great time, the elephants were amazing 👏 Staff was amazing as well, they truly love what they're doing. For the value it was really fun and worth every penny. The food at the end was also so delicious 😋 Highly recommend!

If you're looking to immerse yourself in the vibrant culinary scene of Khao Lak, the Riverside Thai Cooking Class is an experience you won't want to miss. This hands-on cooking adventure allows participants to select from a diverse menu of 38 traditional Thai dishes, ensuring that everyone can find something they love. The journey begins with a delightful trip to the local market, where you'll handpick fresh ingredients alongside your knowledgeable instructor.
This was exactly what we were looking for. Authentic Thai experience. Apple greeted us with a beautiful smile and we felt comfortable very quickly. Apple picked us up on time in an air-conditioned SUV and took us to the market where she explained about the different spices, Fruits, Vegetables, meats and seafood. Now bearing in mind we are both gluten free and my husband has all seafood allergies, Apple and her beautiful staff happily adapted the recipes easily and with respect. We learnt so much about the ingredients and how to balance the flavours whilst making pastes, dipping sauces and dishes. A taste sensation from the moment we took our first bite and we had so much fun. I would thoroughly recommend Apple's Riverside cooking class to anyone looking for a real Thai experience.
Daeleen D — Google review
This cooking class was absolutely fantastic! Apple was so knowledgeable on every Thai dish that you could even imagine. We learnt so much, and made absolutely everything from scratch. This included a trip to the market to see the local produce that we would then cook with later. Apple and her team were amazing, so helpful and made it such a fun afternoon! Would HIGHLY recommend this class. We made so many dishes and they all tasted fantastic. We were so full at the end! Thanks so much Apple!
Beth — Google review
Great experience! Booking the class was very easy. We were lucky to take a class quite spontaneous. After the morning market tour (which was very interesting) we headed to this beautiful cooking class location, surrounded by a huge garden. Everything was well organized and Apple adapted the class to perfectly meet our expectations. We learned a lot and cooked very tasty meals. Thank you very much!
Jennifer T — Google review
Me and my mum had an amazing experience at Apple’s cooking class, we were picked up and then taken to the morning market to collect ingredients where she explained lots of different things which was really interesting (this is only in the morning session, not included in the afternoon but there is no extra charge) We then got taken back to the cooking class where our ingredients were ready for us to get started, we each chose our own dish, I chose massaman. I made the paste from scratch, then we each made our dish. We also made spring rolls, a savoury one and a banana and chocolate one. We got to try everyone’s dish which was great to taste everything, it all tasted amazing, best massaman I’ve ever had. Then got to the take our dishes home. 100% recommend

Without question a five-star rating. The market visit and cooking class with Apple at her remarkable home has been the highlight of our trip. Rest assured you are in safe hands from pick up to drop off. We are inspired!

Such a fun and delicious experience at the Thai cooking class! 🍜 Apple and her team were friendly, the recipes were easy to follow, and the food turned out amazing. A perfect mix of learning, laughs, and flavour—highly recommend!
Sara P — Google review
Food is the best of the best, genuinely the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Apple and her staff are really friendly and welcoming and they send you the recipes so that you can make them at home. Would highly recommend to go here for a great time and some even better food.

An amazing experience. Apple is so knowledgeable and friendly. She looked after our group of 8 so well, easily catering for gluten free and vegetarians within the group. We are so grateful for a fabulous day out, delicious food and all the cooking tips we need to recreate a Thai feast when we get back home. Thank you.

Moo Moo Cabaret Show & Bar is a must-visit spot in Khao Lak, especially for those interested in experiencing a ladyboy show. The bar hosts a vibrant and dynamic show every night at 10pm, with free entry as long as you order drinks. Situated on the Bang Niang main road near the Khao Lak Museum, this cabaret offers world-class entertainment featuring colorful and incredible costumes. It's known for its lively atmosphere and affordable drink prices.
Don’t compare Moo Moo Cabaret to the big shows in Phuket or Pattaya—those cost three times more, and you won’t get the same cozy atmosphere in a huge venue. Here, you’re up close to the stage, feeling every bit of the performance. Sure, the backup dancers aren’t quite on the same level as the main stars, but for the price, it’s a great deal. 300 baht (including a drink—you can order just before the show starts) for an hour of entertainment is totally worth it. And if you want a fun souvenir, you can snap a photo with the performers outside after the show for a tip.
Kenneth J — Google review
I didn’t expect much for 300 baht! Cocktail was great, the show was enjoyable, even with the playback. The dancers and actors were making an effort and it was a great evening to listen some nice old hits. It would be great if after the show the visitors could just stay inside and have a little dance party. We were all in a good mood and had to leave out immediately.
M.K. — Google review
Its a 1 hour and a bit show. Went for the VIP 1,000baht for 2 ppl 2 free drinks included each. The first 2 scenes were a build up to the shows that followed. Energy was truely given and was a wonderful first experiece of that side of drag. Cocktails were the best ive had in kaoh lak by farrrrrr. Wondeful experience and fully no questions asked worth the price. They had wonderful energy and were happy to take pics with anyone(tho i was a tad awkward) lovley experiece wish i was here for a little longer.
Tyler B — Google review
We visited Moo Moo for the third time last night. We bought along some friends who have never been there before. There used to be a performer who was senior to some of the others. She was wonderful but has obviously retired. The lip syncing by some of the performers was terrible. What really bought the show down was the fan/feather dance by the European man who seems to have taken over. His act was not at all necessary. At the end of the show he really cheapend the night by standing on the stage and pointing out what parts of the anatomy made the performers a ladyboy. The standard has really been lowered. Very disappointing as it used be a fabulous show.
Kathryn T — Google review
Great show, really funny and impressive choreography. Drink pricing is pretty basic over paying for some tonic water (same price as a beer). Overall a fun night and experience.
Gasza U — Google review
A very enjoyable night. The queens all work so hard and the show was a lot of fun. However, the venue is filthy, and the lighting is awful (argggh, rope lights!). Still go, it's a great night out, but please MooMoo, sort out your lights. These amazing performers deserve a better space to work in.
Janna R — Google review
We totally loved the show and the performers. The entrance fee is 300 and includes one drink. So a reasonable price for a performance of over 1 hour. There were about 10-15 different singers and dancers and a great atmosphere. There is air conditioning inside and it was very comfortable. Definitely worth a visit!

Located in Khuk Khak, Takuapa, Thailand, the Orchid & Butterfly Garden Khaolak is a stunning botanical garden surrounded by lush green mountains and pineapple plantations. With over 300 species of Thai orchids, it's a haven for nature enthusiasts. The garden is dedicated to preserving indigenous orchid species and also features a captivating butterfly garden with various tropical plants.
Very nice garden. Open every day. 😗
Happy K — Google review
Worth a visit, be patient about finding it because the signs are not too good. The owner has improved the gardens a lot over the years, the butterfly farm has new nets and there are plenty of butterflies flying around in the mornings. Orchids are also nice, the price is 250Baht but she has to put a lot of effort into the upkeep, so thats fine. Great for taking photos.
Martin W — Google review
Really nice for a quick visit. We spent about an hour here. The garden is dedicated to the conservation of native Thai orchids, so it's not so much an ornamental orchid garden but more of a collection of different species. It still has many interesting orchids though, and the butterfly garden is awesome. Beautiful tropical plants and lots of different butterfly species. The outdoor garden is also really good. The garden is privately owned by a mother and daughter who are both lovely and very accommodating. Gave us lots of information, mosquito repellent, and some water when we were done. Great place to visit!
Benjamin R — Google review
Had a wonderful morning at the garden. We got a taxi from our hotel and the taxi driver waited for us at the gardens. We grow orchids at home so loved seeing native Thai orchids. The hybrid varieties were also very beautiful. The butterfly area was great. There was a huge atlas moth which had hatched and then lots of other species with a book available to spot what they were. The orchid garden was a hidden gem. Don't expect manicured gardens and everything in flower - this is a natural environment to help preserve native species and so is rustic but well cared for. We loved it
Faye H — Google review
Beautiful butterflies but most of the orchids were not blooming. I guess they flower at some other time. Worth a visit if you enjoy butterflies. Entrance fee 250 baht.
Ville H — Google review
Literally nothing to see there. Everything dry and horrible... Much nicer flowers you can see by any hotel in khao lak. Zero information to use anti mosquito before you go inside. Paid 400 baht (for 2) been there for 10 mins and got more bites than for previous two weeks in Thailand...
M.Maciejewski — Google review
Garden closed till end october, entrance fee is 250 bath, no sign of orchid garden it is an sand path next to taxi "Taxi@boss" sign

A very long way out (we made the mistake of thinking we could walk-don't trust tourist map) and very low key when you get there. Not cheap either. Not really worth the trip I'm afraid.

The Police Boat T813 Tsunami Memorial in Phangnga is a solemn tribute to the 2004 Tsunami. The memorial features the T813 Police Boat, which was carried 1.2km inland by the tsunami and now stands as a reminder of the brave efforts of emergency responders. Additionally, there is a modern mausoleum honoring the victims and a garden with a wave-like structure where visitors can learn about the police boat's history.
This place is a poignant reminder that none of us are above nature. Avoid the Tsunami museum on the right that charges 300 Bart per adult and is a private company. Visit the free little tsunami hut at the back, between the boat and the wave memorial. It's not for the faint hearted and very emotional and is run by a tsunami survivor. It's all free. The Tsunami memorial entrance is free,
Tom S — Google review
Made for a very interesting and educational memorial. It's fascinating to learn about this tragedy, and the resilience of the Thai people during and after it. Definitely recommend this if you get a chance to stop by.
Tom G — Google review
A must visit spot if travelling to the Khao Lak area. The presentation of the museum was basic but impactful and very informative. We had done a lot of research on the area before our trip and had seen a lot of the footage from when the Tsunami hit...none of that prepared us for how we felt when standing in the very spot where there Tsunami struck or seeing survivors personal records of that time. Very powerful indeed.
Eleanor F — Google review
Very interesting and an important memorial. Condition of the memorial is not that good anymore. I removed one star as the photos shown in the little exhibition show dead people on the beach. This is very irritating.
Chris S — Google review
Couldn't come to Khao Lak and not come here. The museum is basic, and the police boat was behind mesh for construction but upstairs there are videos 1 HR 20 mins long in French, German or English and honestly we sat to watch the whole thing. Heartbreaking. So glad we came though.
Valerie C — Google review
The T813 Police Boat and Tsunami Memorial Garden serve as a poignant reminder of 2004 Tsunami. The 60 tonne - 80 foot long boat was thrust 1.2km inland to its current location. The T813 Police Boat, now preserved as a memorial, commemorates the brave efforts of the Thai police and other emergency responders who played a crucial role in the aftermath. You will also find the modern mausoleum erected in memory of the victims. The yellow marker at the top of the pole shows how high the wave was in this area – 10m. At the edge of the park there is a small kiosk which serves as a free ‘museum’. The couple running the stand are very friendly and will share their photographs with you. Be aware that the photographs become very grim towards the back of the albums. The memorial park is easily walking distance from most resorts in the Bang Niang area. You only need 30 minutes to an hour here.

Lovely beach. Lots of shells, corals and rocks so wear boat shoes when wading into the water. There are jelly fish and sea lice so take care
Arshia G — Google review
A really peaceful beach without crowded tourists. There are about 3 restaurants next to the ocean and you can eat on the beach. The road along this beach is quiet and not busy. There are many trees and shadows for picnic and putting up a hammock.
Mark K — Google review
One of the less busy beaches in Khao Lak, Bang Sak is popular with the locals who come here to chill and relax. Occasionally, you will see some western tourists who end up here on their rented motorbikes. The beach is peaceful without all those tourist deckchairs and umbrellas, which is what a beach should look like. Across the road is the super-famous Garang Cafe, a local Thai brand with a surf-skate theme. There's awesome ice cream served here.
David J — Google review
Nice beach, my caution to others is the quantity of shells and corals to dodge on much of the beach itself and as you are entering the ocean. There seems to be a meter wide area full of hard corals that your poor feet need to dodge. And today we saw a jellyfish washed on shore. The beach is frequented by locals on the weekends and the row of restaurants behind and to the side of this Google map designated beach is busy. Try them out! Support local.

The beach is very local, full of restaurants and bars along the Long Beach. They put some straw mat in the woods and serve drinks and foods, you can use their toilet. Very peaceful place, and the sunset is stunning!!!

Supaporn Elephant Camp offers a unique and intimate experience with Pookie, a 33-year-old elephant who is well-loved by her owners. Visitors can interact with Pookie freely without chains or restraints. The caring owners provide snacks after bathing and feeding the elephant, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. For an affordable fee, visitors can spend quality time with Pookie in a tranquil natural setting.
Absolutely fantastic experience for us. Gorgeous gentle elephant, beautiful people. Fed Pookie then washed and scrubbed her, fed more bananas. Owners speak English and very informative. Private experience with just the three of us. Highly recommended.

Lovely family who obviously love caring for their elephant, Pookie! Pookie arrives from the bush at 6 am and stays all day before heading back into the bush.

10/10. This place is a hidden gem, where a happy elephant Pucki resides on a large territory, surrounded by the love of caring owners. Visitors are given a basket of bananas to enjoy some quality time with the animal, amidst the tranquility of nature without fences or buildings. Pucki flaps her ears in delight when stroked or hugged. The owners are incredibly friendly. For 200 baht per person, the experience is well worth it. I recommend everyone to visit and meet the elephant. Your visit acts as a donation to a family business that has been operating for generations.

It was an amazing experience with Pookie. She’s a lovely 33 years old elephant with who you can interact. What we loved was that she was free without any chains and other things. We can see that her owners really love her and they treat her really well. They are such sweet persons, they gave us snacks after we bathed and fed Pookie. There’s a shower and toilets, where you can change. We paid 1800 baht for 2 persons for an hour. They took a lot of pictures with their phone that they sent us after. They offered us as well frames with pictures they did for 250 baht. To reserve you can send them an email or a message on WhatsApp or Facebook. They offered a ride from the hotel if you don’t have any means of transport. We were alone with them, no other tourists. They are really kind people who love animals. If you hesitate between multiple places to go and see elephants like we did, I’m telling you THIS IS THE ONE !!!

What an awesome incredible time spent here. No doubt a once in a lifetime experience for us. Wonderful people looking after Pookie in a natural environment. Washing and feeding her with voice commands from Mahood. NoNo taking photos for us and providing a wonderful experience. Thanks so very much for sharing your experience and story with us. Pookie sleeps in the jungle at night time and comes to this location for washing and cooling down. Thoroughly recommend connecting online with the staff here. They provided a pickup service and snacks afterwards. We purchased some souvenir photos which we will cherish. Thanks again for an amazing time.
