Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Adelaide Zoo, nestled in the heart of Adelaide, is a vibrant oasis boasting over 2,500 animals from around the world. Visitors can interact with the wildlife and enjoy unique experiences such as hand-feeding giraffes and observing Giant Pandas Wang Wang and Fu Ni. The zoo offers educational opportunities for all ages and is renowned for its captivating animal collection. As one of Adelaide's top family-friendly attractions, it provides an unforgettable day out for animal lovers.
A memorable highlight is to visit Adelaide zoo. Adelaide Zoo was founded and opened to the public on May 23, 1883. It is the second oldest zoo in Australia. Adelaide Zoo is home to over 2,500 animals representing about 250 species of exotic and native mammals, birds, reptiles, and fish. The zoo is situated in Botanic Park and provides a home for these creatures within eight hectares of botanic surroundings.

It was a great experience and the zoo is very well maintained. The giant pandas were resting around 11am, so we couldn’t see them, but the rest of the visit was wonderful. The staff were helpful and friendly, and my daughter had a fantastic time. We were lucky to have the cheetah sitting right next to the viewing glass, which was an unforgettable moment. The meerkats, digging away furiously, put on a fun show. For me, the highlight was the walk through the wetlands as it truly felt like being transported into a real jungle environment. Would definitely recommend to visit at least once. Close to the city. Plenty of paid parking.
Shoaib Q — Google review
Absolutely wonderful, so many animal experiences to do and I got to feed a cute hippo. Loved it. I will definitely visit again when I go to Adelaide. The cafe has respectable vegetarian and vegan options and there's a water fountain close to the kangaroos. People are so friendly and nice. This is a zoo I'd actually donate to. Very close to the city and walkable distance too
Darshini — Google review
The car park for zoo allow to park maximum 4 hours. It is not long enough, but understand is a control of the flow of tourists, ensure all visitors got chance to go in and not crowded of people, so that visitors feel comfortable during the visit. The admission fee is quite high, but reasonable. Most native animals can find in the zoo. A bonus to the trip, 2 Panda is found inside the zoo, and we witness one of the panda poo poo.... Hahaha. The zoo is not as big as the one in Sydney or Singapore, but is nice to be there. There is only one restaurant inside the zoo. Foods and drinks are okay. The most lovely things is we meet a few volunteer senior work and guide visitors inside the park. So good to chat with them, and all seniors are act professional, patience, warm and nice. A thumd up for them. Wish them all the BEST!

My granddaughter and I enjoyed our visit to the zoo. It’s been over ten years since I’ve been and I was pleasantly surprised by the changes to the design. There is a great adventure type playground which my granddaughter explored enthusiastically. We also loved the overhead animal runs giving some of the tree dwelling creatures more freedom.
Conny B — Google review
Had a work function after hours with a giraffe feeding experience included. Was an amazing experience. Not just the giraffe feeding but the entire function was great. Food was amazing, well presented and tasty. (My partner is a chef, so I can be picky). Staff were all amazing, remembering people's drink orders and very personable. Well trained and friendly.

The highlight of our trip to Adelaide was here at the zoo! The most beautiful and well kept botanic surrounds, an easy walk and accessible for those who need it. A beautiful home for a wide array of animals. Of course our favourites were the roly-poly pandas however there were others who were just cute.
Linda K — Google review
Adelaide Zoo provides a unique experience. As the only zoo in the Southern Hemisphere that houses Giant Pandas, it is arguably one of the most significant zoos in Australia. The two pandas, Xing Qiu and Yi Lan, are usually visible, especially when they are eating in their spacious exhibits. However, a few of the other exhibits are relatively cramped and unnatural, especially the two dingos, which at confined to a small cage exhibit. Even though it is sad to see some of the animals in an unhappy condition, the pandas are still the selling point of this zoo, and hence make it a worthwhile visit.

Gardens
Adelaide Botanic Garden is a sprawling 125-acre oasis featuring rare plants such as the Wollemi pine and various sculptures, greenhouses, and cafes. The garden offers a range of activities for kids, including meandering pathways, diverse landscapes to explore, birdwatching opportunities, and historic buildings to visit. Visitors can access the garden from multiple entry points and enjoy attractions like the Bicentennial Conservatory - the largest single-span glasshouse in the Southern Hemisphere.
Beautiful park with many gardens that are mapped out very well. The signs are very helpful thus making sure you do not miss anything. It’s broken up into different gardens such as a rose garden and lilly pads to name just a couple. This has a lot of open ground so is great for a family picnic. This is also a free admission garden. There are tree species here that are gigantic and beautiful. The trunks are massive. There is also a wine center which offers a very large selection of wines for tasting either organized or self serve. They also offer food and wine for purchase. For the afternoon wine tasting which is more detailed it’s best to make an appointment online. However, you can also self serve taste anytime. They also have a snack bar on location.

Beautiful gardens, amazing setting and very well taken care of. Walked through the entire garden, loved every part of it. Highlight was the rose garden for sure, absolutely amazing place, will go there to chill in the future as well.
Bishal S — Google review
The Adelaide Botanic Garden displays a few amazing plants, the most spectacular being the Victoria amazonica, which is the second largest in the water lily family Nymphaeaceae. The gardens were designed beautifully, and reflected the visions of the early directors of the botanic garden. One needs to spend a good part of one day to wander around the 50 ha of the magnificently maintained botanic garden. I enjoyed seeing the avenue of huge fig trees and the wisteria plants which were flowering. The volunteer guides of Friends of the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide take two free tours a day. We were privileged to be shown the gardens as an event of the 18th Australiasian Botanic Garden Guides Conference.

Before visiting this Adelaide Botanic Garden for the 1st time, I didn't have much expectation as I arrived South Australia in January 2025 and experienced the longest drought seasons in history. Everywhere were dry, grey / brown but not green, especially northern parts of the Adelaide City. After five months of raining since late May 2025 and in this Spring time, I reckoned it is now the best timing to visit Adelaide Botanic Garden to see the flowers and greenery. It looked like my understanding was correct, as the Adelaide Botanic Garden was really beautiful, much better than what I expected. Everywhere were green and with beautiful flowers. Thanks to the effort of the team especially the gardeners, the garden is well maintained with healthy plants and trees, and beautiful flowers and lawns. They have kept all facilities well like the ponds, wetland, fountains, glasshouses, walkways, fences, toilets, directional signs and function rooms etc. Everything in the garden were tidy, clean and functioning well. During my visit, there were several weddings events held inside the garden, on the lawns and inside the event centres. No doubt to me here is one of the best wedding venues in Adelaide. I don't think I have walked-through every corners of the garden yet as it is so big. I will definitely re-visit quite again as it is really a nice and lovely park which is so easy to access. For example, it's good to visit it for a walk in a weekend afternoon and then cross the street to visit one of the lovely restaurants in the East End for an enjoyable dinner.
Pat C — Google review
Lovely gardens to wander through. National Wine venue inside was a great surprise find for a lovely lunch. Cafe in the middle was a nice spot for an afternoon coffee. I'd noticed info about the photographic display and had planned to check it out, but only when I arrived at entry I realised it was a ticketed event.
Susan H — Google review
Adelaide Botanical Gardens A great day out. Maps available at entry Well kept and maintained Gardens Lots of variety Lovely old buildings. Wisteria Arch ways both were stunning. Rose Gardens a great variety Not far from the city. Can catch a free tram Lots of grass areas for a picnic or eat in the Cafe. I really loved seeing g the Black oak area very old great to see.
Corinne P — Google review
A great place to visit if the traffic & noise of the city becomes too much. Great facilities or find a quiet spot. So much to do. Clean & tidy & looks amazing. Very reasonable prices for cafe food if you are looking for lunch but beware of the birds as they are known to steal food on occasion (there are signs warning of this in appropriate spots)
Julie N — Google review
Lovely and impressive botanic garden which you must visit in South Australia! Very large that will take you a few hours to walk 🚶‍♀️ and you will enjoy coming here again and again! The air is fresh and so many kinds of colourful flowers attract you 🌸 there’re also many bizarre glass statues that made with impeccable skills so artistic and aesthetic!! 💓

Nestled on North Terrace, the South Australian Museum is a treasure trove of natural history and Aboriginal culture. This impressive five-story institution houses over four million artifacts, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in Australia’s rich heritage. The museum's extensive collection spans various fields such as biological sciences, archaeology, mineral sciences, and paleontology. Visitors can marvel at everything from taxidermy displays to ancient Egyptian mummies and even dinosaurs!
🏛️Great place for when the weather isn’t good. I visited the free exhibitions and was really impressed. I loved the part of aboriginal history, as you can learn a lot through different media’s. Maps, videos, auto, games and of course the classic showcase. The staff were great as well, helpful, efficient and friendly. I liked the atmosphere, it was quiet and peaceful. It wasn’t full so it was nice to just take your time with the exhibition. There are plenty of car parks very close to it or you just take the public transport which is also great! In the museum there is also a cafe, which was full and very popular. If you are interested in more specific exhibitions then they offer paid admission as well. 25$ to see (currently) the history of the Vikings. I think that’s a pretty fair price. All in all great way to spend a few hours.
JOHANN — Google review
What a wonderful museum Adelaide has ! It's main beauty lies in the fact it's still housed in an old building . There are four levels and a mezzanine and all have well set out displays . The main museum is free to enter but donations are accepted to help the museum . The museum hosts speciality displays and these have admission fees . You can go to the museum site to check what is on and admission prices and ticket availability . We started at the top and made our way down to ground level . You can easily spend 4-6 hours at the museum if you are reading information provided at each display . Well worth the visit .
Kerri W — Google review
What a great place! And no admission fee! So much for the kids to see and explore. The cafe is a little pricey but you expect that. Beautifully kept and laid out. The kids especially loved the discovery room where they could touch and explore things.
Brooke M — Google review
Ideal for a relaxed visit within the city, free entry to some sections in the ground floor, including the one on aboriginals and art. Highly informative. Includes a souvenir shop and cafe.
Aishvarya V — Google review
The Aboriginal portion of the museum is amazing. So much information. Very much enjoyed it. Overall, well curated across all the floors. You can easily visit multiple times.
Maria D — Google review
Nice experience. The Vikings Hoard exhibition was great, took 90 mins at a very leisurely pace, could be done a lot faster if needed. Coffee and cake were good and decent value, with a wait on the coffee though. I would buy tickets online as the queue was long.
Rachel G — Google review
I didn’t know what to expect. It will change your life. I’m now a fan of Paul Kelly and a follower of the East Kimberly school. Amazing place. I could go back again and again, every few days … if I didn’t live in the UK.
Patrick B — Google review
We have seen so much about Aboriginal culture, opal and Pacific Islands history in a go! This museum is free to enter (except for the special exhibition). We spent two hours there, and it is worth visiting if you visit Adelaide CBD. It is next to the art gallery and university with a cafe and gift shop on site.

Adelaide Central Market, established in 1869, is a food lover's paradise with over 80 vendors offering organic fruits, premium meats, and more. It is renowned as Adelaide's food hub and one of Australia's largest fresh produce markets. The market features a diverse range of products including fruit and vegetable shops, patisseries, cafes, gourmet cheeses, sweets, and charcuterie. Visitors can enjoy live music on Fridays and participate in various events such as cooking classes and workshops.
If you’re passionate about food, culture, or people, Adelaide Central Market is a spectacular stop. Its mix of tradition and innovation—centered on fresh South Australian produce and global flavors—continues to define Adelaide’s culinary identity. Though price-conscious visitors may need to comparison-shop, there’s no denying the energy, history, and community richness of the space. Whether you’re picking up artisan cheese, grabbing a quick lunch at one of the stalls, or simply soaking up the bustle, a visit here feels essential—a feast for senses and spirit alike.
Rae G — Google review
The Adelaide Central Market is such a delight! I had the sweetest cherries and the most flavorful quiche Lorraine, both absolutely unforgettable. Everything feels so fresh and made with care. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to wander, taste, and enjoy the best of Adelaide. Don’t miss the bookstore 🥰
Karen G — Google review
This was my second visit to these markets and, perhaps due to the ongoing renovations, seemed a bit less pleasant. Firstly, it didn't feel as large and secondly, I found it quite dark inside. Nonetheless, I did enjoy wandering all the aisles (some are a bit on the narrow side) and perusing the different stalls. The majority are definitely food and veggies, followed by fish and meat. There are plenty of eateries as well. If coming in by public transport, the free tram stops at Victoria Square - a 5 minute walk from the market. There is parking and the first hour is free. On Saturdays, the first three hours are free during market opening hours. There are electric vehicle charging stations in the carpark.
Emmy S — Google review
Artisan appeal and presentation - 5/5 Overall vibe was cosy and nostalgic walking around a wide selections of food and trades. Pricing - 2/5 Unfortunately, we felt many items are overpriced, which is a detriment to the notion of going to a market to find cheap local produce. If you’re not afraid to splash money, you’ll find this place amazingly diverse, but if you’re after a deal, you’ll likely wont find it here, and instead go to local famers markets. Whilst we enjoyed exploring the market, we felt reluctant spending money like $10 for a slice a pizza.
Win B — Google review
Busy and bustling market. Lots of fresh produce, seafood, meats, veggies, fruit. Not very many places were doing samplings when I was there, and inflation certainly is healthy, especially at the little eateries inside the market. Can't wait to see the place once the renovation is complete.
Candi M — Google review
Such a great market in Adelaide! You will find everything from pantry goodies and fresh produce to tasty baked treats. It’s right in the city, clean, well-kept and the vendors are always friendly and welcoming.

Adelaide Oval is a modernized sports and entertainment venue with a capacity of 53,500. The stadium's distinctive horseshoe shape and unique roof design make it an iconic landmark. Following restoration, the stadium now hosts a variety of national and international sports events, as well as concerts and functions. The restoration aimed to preserve heritage elements while incorporating modern materials that complement the city's architecture.
Adelaide Oval is easily one of the best venues I’ve ever visited. Every time I’ve been there, it’s been an incredible experience. The atmosphere is electric, whether it’s for a cricket match, footy game, or a live concert. The crowd energy, the views, and the overall vibe make it something special. The facilities are world-class, with great seating, easy access, and plenty of food and drink options. The staff are friendly and always helpful, which makes the whole experience even better. The Oval itself is stunning, especially when it’s lit up at night with the city skyline in the background. What stands out most for me is how well everything is organised — from parking and entry to crowd management and amenities. Every visit has felt smooth and enjoyable. If you’re in Adelaide and haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out. It’s not just a venue — it’s an experience. Absolutely the best of the best.
Sunil N — Google review
Great location and has an excellent atmosphere. Went for an AFL match and made plans ahead of time with friends and got there very early so we could access seats. Use a walker and found challenges. There were many free parks closer to venue but disability was still on lawn and after the rain getting through the mud was difficult. In the venue there was a good size ramp to access seating and there was disabled areas. Lucky we got there early to access. Prices are high, which is expected. Accommodates more for able body people which is discouraging as it often makes it too hard to frequent locations like this. If I didn't have assistance I would not be able to venture here and enjoy.

Adelaide Oval is one of the most picturesque and iconic sports stadiums in the world. Located in the heart of Adelaide, it beautifully blends modern architecture with heritage features. The Oval hosts cricket, AFL, concerts, and major events, and is famous for its lively atmosphere and stunning views of the city and surrounding parklands. It’s a must-visit for sports fans and anyone wanting to experience Adelaide’s vibrant culture.

One of the best cricket stadiums. It's a beautiful experience to watch cricket here. Very scenic views, good pitch and wind supports good bowling and consistent bounce allows free stroke making. Decent services on the fully packed event days, great food and drink options. Good event management allows seamless crowd movement. Security is also well managed giving you the sense of freedom of mind to enjoy the game.

Nestled in the vibrant cultural precinct of North Terrace, the Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA) is a treasure trove for art enthusiasts. Established in 1881, this stunning gallery boasts an impressive collection of over 38,000 artworks that span various mediums including painting, sculpture, textiles, and more. A highlight is its extensive array of Indigenous Australian art alongside significant pieces from the colonial era.
Art are really amazing, but some I can’t understand. Not much people there, I can go around and take pictures easily. Nice coffee, cakes and foods. Managers also friendly too. (Free to go inside, don’t need to buy tickets). Store is also good too, beautiful pictures, card, …
Thanh N — Google review
All the good stuff in this gallery was almost ruined by one exhibit in the second room I entered: two horse carcasses, headless, hanging by one leg - truly horrible. I quickly left that room and avoided it on my return. Otherwise, interesting and very varied art and design work throughout this large gallery. Gift shop and café available.

Tried to ask the information desk about what are pieces not to be missed while visiting and they were very strange about my question? Bizarre staff. There has been exhibitions on that all stopped at the same time so few areas closed and a HELL of noise because people were drilling and got know’s what. Information was very small, sometimes hard to piece to what art piece, then also no further information just artist and date kind of information. Was just ok for me …

Like most state owned art galleries in Australia this gallery is free to visit. Does not require any advance booking. Great for all ages. It has over 45,000 works of art; including impessionist, realistic, relics, renaissance, modernist, egyptian, interative art. It has the biggest collection of Aboriginal and Torres strait, and pre-colonial works. There is a gallery store and coffee shops, so it's a great day trip. Can get to via public transport, and plenty of streets and garage parking.

Rundle Mall is the heart of Adelaide’s shopping and social scene, lively and buzzing on both weekdays and weekends. Whether you’re looking for budget finds or premium brands, there’s something for everyone. From fashion and beauty to bookstores and tech, it truly is a one-stop destination. There are plenty of restaurants and quick bites to choose from, including sushi joints, cozy coffee spots, dessert places, and more. It is best explored on foot, with side streets and arcades adding to the charm. Do not miss the iconic sculptures while you are there, especially the famous Mall’s Balls and the bronze pig statues. They are local favorites and perfect for a quick photo. Early mornings around 6 AM are wonderfully calm and peaceful, ideal for a quiet stroll before the city comes alive. At night, the atmosphere remains lively. You may come across a few merry drunks, but they are easy enough to avoid. All in all, a must-visit if you are in Adelaide. Whether you are here to shop, eat, people-watch, or simply soak in the vibe, Rundle Mall delivers.

I was surprised to see how vibrant the RM is on a Sunday. Music, stalls, interactive events. Pretty trees, lots of shade & sunny spots. Interesting shops. Great diversity of people. Everyone friendly, happy. My first visit in a long time. Then had a Chai Latte in Rundle Street. Very relaxing day.

Cleland Wildlife Park is a 35-hectare lush bushland paradise that serves as a haven for iconic Australian animals. It houses over 130 native species, including kangaroos, reptiles, wombats, and birds in natural-habitat enclosures. Visitors can enjoy hands-on experiences such as holding a koala, hand-feeding kangaroos, or patting a wombat.
Excellent wildlife park in Adelaide. I have visited various wildlife parks in Australia, which are the best in my experience. The park is clean, very animal-friendly, looks excellent, and the staff are friendly and can feel their passion and love for the animals. The koala experience is fantastic; it makes my day and life. Transportation to this park is not convenient, but it's great to make it separate from the polluted world. Keep it up and never get old. Hope this park can remain green forever.
Eason L — Google review
12 Years since my last visit and I’m so pleased to see the park is still doing great! A wonder experience to walk around and seeing the animals have the freedom to roam around without tight caged restrictions like other zoos. Highly recommend their animal experiences on top of an explore around the park!
Brooke J — Google review
Overall Parks ok did enjoy the visit, just a couple little areas that I think need work, one of those been the males toilets which were reasonably clean except the hand dryers, one wasn’t work and the other one is absolutely filthy I opted to dry my hands on my jumper as I didn’t want to put my hands in there before eating. Food was ok just need a better explanation on your Ham toasted wraps as I brought for my son and didn’t realise it had tomatoe Spinach and Onion, maybe I should of asked but by the label just assumed ham and cheese. Other than that the staff were friendly and I said previously enjoyed the park.
Shane E — Google review
It's good 3.5, the area is large and clean, the animals are well looked after. I was slightly disappointed in the lack of different species/animals but the ones that are there are well kept & surrounded by more of a natural setting. If you're looking for a nice open nature park, this one is for you. If you want more variety of animals, go to Gorge Wildlife Park.
Aerwyn — Google review
Great experience getting to see some animals up close and getting to feed them. Lots of kangaroos to feed in a big, open area. (They also have roped-off sections where the kangaroos can go to keep people away from them if they are tired. That was nice for the roos!) Nice park with different animals and birds to see. Highly recommended for people of any age!

Cleland Wildlife park is beautiful. Quiet on a Saturday and truly feels like you’re walking through a wild sanctuary and not a zoo The team is excellent and feeding the animals is so fun and exciting They are really sweet and cute, and really seem to quite enjoy their time in the park Underrated wildlife park

I am a local and always recommend visiting Cleland. My partner and I spent out anniversary there this visit and it was a relaxing time on a beautiful day. Saw lots of animals and there are so many different talks that happen throughout the day that there are always things to do and see here.
Tarmia K — Google review
Absolutely loved seeing, feeding, and stroking the kangaroos, wallabies, and potoroos! Plenty were very friendly and would happily come right up to you for food. Also liked that the animals did have spaces to go to if they wanted to be left alone. Watched a few talks as well, which were great and informative. Could tell that the keepers highly enjoy their jobs and have a lot of love for the animals they're looking after.

Did the MegaClimb plus Swing with my 8 yr old daughter. Took Friday off school 2 avoid the crowds but ended up having the place 2 ourselves. Our guide Yuri was the best. Very helpful as some things were a bit challenging 4 my girl but he got us through it no worries. Great experience. Would do it again. The swing however I did not expect 2 scream like a big girl. Craziest ride I ever been on. My daughter wanted more so if u r a little squeamish u have been warned. Great fun tho. 5 stars 2 the whole team.

I cannot remember the names of the staff but all were lovely and friendly.

TreeClimb Adelaide is a unique outdoor park located in Kurrangga Park, offering seven treetop climbing courses connected by zip lines. It's an adventurous experience just south of the CBD, providing rope courses spanning between tree platforms, rope nets, swinging bridges and zip lines. The park also features signs showcasing the history of Adelaide. TreeClimb offers activities for both adults and children with over 70 obstacles in 7 courses suitable for varying ages and abilities.
TreeClimb Adelaide is a great experience for families! It's best to book in advance to avoid waiting in line and to fill out the kids’ course waiver ahead of time. The staff are very helpful and encourage kids to take on challenges. They provide excellent safety equipment, so parents can feel safe while the kids climb and explore. There’s also a nice café on-site where you can grab coffee or a snack while the kids have fun. It’s a well-organized outdoor adventure for all ages!

Highly recommend the tree climbing experience! My child had an amazing time — it was not only fun, but also a great way to build confidence, balance, and physical strength. The safety measures were excellent, and the staff were professional, patient, and encouraging throughout the whole activity. Everything went smoothly, and my child felt so proud after reaching the top. The place is clean, well-organized, and perfect for a family outing. Definitely a 5-star experience!

My 4 kids loved their time at Tree Climb! The older two did the grand course ages 10 & 12 and had a blast! The younger two ages 5 & 7 did the kids course and Miss 5 couldn't have done it without Mr 7 helping her the whole way through get the trolley rope through the tricky parts. It's a bit hard to manoeuvre through for the younger ones. Also a bit of a wait by the time they get their harness on, watch the safety video and get up to the start point. Apart from that, it's worth the wait and they all had a challenging but fantastic time!
Birdys B — Google review
Such a brilliant day out! I have been with my granddaughter a few times. The staff here are so great with the kids! I heard one staff member (Sofia) yesterday calling out to my granddaughter how proud she was of her, and full of positive encouragement, it was just lovely! 😃 Adults can relax back with coffee or lunch at their cafe with shaded outdoor tables, while the kids are safely climbing above. The staff are always keeping a watchful eye out, and if the kids get nervous and stuck, a staff member climbs up to them to assist. For kids over 135 cm tall, there's the grand course with lots of zip lines. Highly recommended!

Nestled in the heart of Adelaide, Carrick Hill is a beautifully preserved estate from the 1930s that has been transformed into a captivating museum. Visitors can explore its impressive art collection and wander through meticulously maintained formal gardens. The estate offers an enchanting experience for families, featuring the delightful Storybook Trail that invites children to engage with nature while discovering whimsical elements inspired by classic tales.
The gardens and grounds themselves alone are worthwhile visiting - more extensive than we expected, and really beautiful with such a variety of flowers. Some were still flowering in autumn, we imagine it will be even more beautiful in spring (especially the extensive rose gardens)! No parking or entrance fee to the gardens, only the house. We saw lots of picnics on the lawns/grounds.
June K — Google review
Carrick Hill House was the home of Sir Edward Hayward and his wife Ursula. The estate was built in 1930s. It was bequeathed to the State Government of SA after Sir Edward's death in 1983. During my visit on 27 July 2025, the house was still closed for conservation, until 1 August 2025. However, the garden is still open for the public as usual. I think both the house and the garden are worth visiting, but a small ticket is required for visiting the house with a guided tour (booking is required). With such beautiful garden and generous approach by Sir Edward's donation of his beautiful house to allow public accessibility to enjoy walking in his garden and visiting his house to see the historical furnitures, decoration and construction, paying a small ticket ($20 per adult or $3 per child upto 15 yrs old) to ensure sustainable management and long term running of this beautiful historical building is totally acceptable. The garden was spectacular, even I visited during winter. I think I will visit in again in Summer or Autumn to see any even more beautiful garden together with a guided tour for visiting the house.
Pat C — Google review
Beautiful building that has been loved and cared for by the team so we can enjoy it. The gardens are beautiful too. Fantastic way to spend a few hours or half a day so close to the city centre.

Beautiful grounds, lovely view of the city, lots of lawns, flowers and a few picnic areas, all accessible for free. There ia a new cafe, but it was very busy when I visited on Sunday lunchtime. The car park was also packed, difficult to find a spot. The grounds close at 430pm, so don't expect to stay late in summer.

What a surprise I got today visiting this great SA treasure. I had never heard of this place and ca.e across it by accident. The locals are doing a great job keeping this gem a secret. $20 entry. Well spent. Great works of art are displayed and breathtaking antiques.

Paulina L — Google review
Such a beautiful historic location to visit. It's amazing to be able to walk through a home that's virtually unchanged from how it was originally. Not to mention how lovely the gardens are. It's had some additions recently which are great but would have been cool if they'd kept more to the house's theme.

The National Railway Museum in Port Adelaide is a must-visit for both train enthusiasts and families. It boasts an extensive collection of steam engines, carriages, and other railway memorabilia. Visitors can explore numerous fascinating exhibits and even take a ride on an old train for a small additional fee. The museum features over 100 exhibits representing various railway operators across Australia's major rail gauges.
We enjoyed this place very much — there’s so much to learn about railway history! There’s a great variety of steam and diesel locomotives on display, and everything is very well presented. One of the highlights was the miniature railway that runs around the museum every 30 minutes, which was a lot of fun, especially for kids. There’s also a train compartment open for visitors to explore, which gave us a real sense of how it would have felt to travel back in the day. Entrance fee is $19 per adult, toilets are available, and there’s plenty of parking on-site. Definitely a fantastic and educational day out for families!

I had a wonderful experience at the National Railway Museum. The gentlemen at the entrance were so welcoming and kind, and I could really feel their passion for railways and their enthusiasm for their work. Their friendliness made the visit even more special. Although I only had a short time before closing, I truly enjoyed exploring the museum, it’s fascinating and full of history. It’s a pity I’m leaving Adelaide tonight, but I’ll definitely come back to spend more time here in the future. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Adelaide!

2 weeks ago, we visited National Railway Museum in Port Adelaide on King’s Birthday holiday 2025. Not disappointed, after parked out the metered outdoor parking lot just opposite to the museum, we walked about only 1 minute to it. Although it was a national holiday, we didn’t need to wait then could paid for our entry fee (also enjoyed discount with my NSW senior discount card) 👍 There are plenty of historic trains, trackways and carriages to display. To end this visit, we took a free of charge riding on the mini railway, travelling the whole museum, indoors and outdoors displays. Interesting snapshots, our mini ran in parallel with another real modern light railway for nearly one minute 😂 Yes, I recommend it to everyone who is travelling to Adelaide.

Love coming here, lots of trains to see and get to ride in a little train as well around the Museum getting a glimpse at items we can't see when walking around. A real stroll into the past. Great for younger children all the way up to older ages. Lots of memories that are well kept and often interactive.
Karen H — Google review
Lovely museum, showcasing a large variety of old trains and providing a glimpse into the life of the past with many displays, some even interactive! Miniature trains also present on site which depart at the little railway station approximately every 30 minutes. Saw many kids hyped about riding the train 😊 Recommend for train enthusiasts of all ages to visit 🚂

Great museum with great staff! Very polite and made to feel welcome. Great exhibits with a fun miniature ride around the grounds. Well worth a visit if you’re in Adelaide!

Definitely worth a visit if you are into trains and the rich and splendid history of Australia’s industrial development which they had contributed to and been standing for. The story of Bub the stray cat is fascinating. The cabins and vintage locomotives on exhibit have been well maintained even after decades. Explore the adventure of tea and sugar trains that once carried essential procurements and brought joy and hope to railway workers and their families. Hop on the small yellow train for a ride accompanied by cranking noises and whistles. You’d forget how time has lapsed.

The park's history dates back to the 1800s when it was used for primary production activities. Today, visitors can explore hiking trails that lead to stunning cliffs and seasonal waterfalls such as Morialta Falls.
Another one of my favourite conservation parks in Adelaide. Love coming here during the school holidays and getting my son off the Nintendo. Many different walking trails to choose from and they all lead to stunning views and wildlife.
Tania — Google review
Definitely a park that you should trek during your weekends or whenever you have free time. Most of the trails are doable without a walking stick. Very tranquil and full of wild animals including kaolas, rabbits and birds
Nguyen M — Google review
I visited Morialta Conservation Park and it was such a refreshing experience. What I loved most was how close it is to Adelaide — yet as soon as you step onto the trails, you feel completely surrounded by nature. The waterfalls were beautiful, especially First Falls, and I really enjoyed the sound of the water as I walked along the creek. The walking tracks are well-maintained and suitable for different fitness levels. I took the First Falls walk which was quite easy and relaxing — perfect for a gentle stroll. I spotted a few koalas sleeping in the gum trees, which was a highlight for me. The Mukanthi Nature Play Space is fantastic if you’re visiting with kids. It’s thoughtfully designed and blends really well with the bush setting. I loved seeing families enjoying picnics and children exploring the natural play areas. One thing to note is that parking can be tricky if you come on a busy weekend — it’s best to arrive early. Also, I’d recommend bringing plenty of water and your own snacks because there aren’t any cafés or shops inside the park. Overall, I’d definitely recommend Morialta Conservation Park to anyone looking for an easy day out in nature. Whether you want to hike, spot wildlife, or just relax near the waterfalls, it’s a beautiful spot to unwind and reconnect with the outdoors.
Natali N — Google review
A hiking trail for all! Whatever level you are. Morialta has trails from beginners to advanced depending on what you choose. Usually at the start of the hikes is a man who also sells coffee and light snacks if you want a little pick me up at any point. Some of the trails are quite steep and would be a bit heavy on the legs. Great family friendly spot though
A M — Google review
Beautiful walk! The Morialta Loop via First and Second Falls is a great mix of forest, cliffs, and waterfalls. The views are amazing, especially after some rain — though it does get a bit muddy then. The trail’s in good shape overall, not too steep on the ups or downs, and easy to enjoy at a steady pace. A solid choice for a relaxed hike with rewarding scenery close to the city.

The Migration Museum in Adelaide, South Australia, offers a captivating exploration of the state's rich cultural tapestry shaped by waves of immigration. Since its establishment in 1986, the museum has curated an extensive collection of artifacts, photographs, and narratives that chronicle the settlement history. It proudly celebrates Adelaide's multiculturalism while fostering respect for diverse cultures and languages. The museum also hosts educational programs and interactive activities for visitors to engage with the exhibits.
Highly recommend. A wonderful museum in Adelaide to learn about the heritage and cultural diversity of South Australia. The exhibits are great and our daughters even received an activity to immerse them. We especially loved the Haza exhibit - not often you can engage with the display but this one made you think and reflect by doing so. There is no cost to enter, but donation is appreciated.

Small but very nice and well prepared museum that displays the stories and belongings of the people who migrated to SA and Australia in general during different periods of time, such as the war. There is a lot to learn, as well as pieces of arts showing something of the home country of many of the nationalities or backgrounds that exist nowadays. I quick and nice stop, highly recommended and the tickets are free!

Nice experience and tells the stories of many of the migration events over the history of Australia. It makes you appreciate the country we have and give you pride in its history for both the tall tales and but also doesn't shy from exposing some of the more sensitive and haunting elements that built us. Would recommend popping into the free venue. Fairly accessible through the Adelaide public transport system and city tram lines

Small museum in historic buildings, telling about colonial settlement and profiling individual immigrants to South Australia. Currently, there is an exhibition, “Face to Face,” of coloured and decorated photos of elderly people: black-and-white photos illustrated by both the elders and the students, who spoke with the subjects about their lives. Outside is an expanse of paving stones bearing the names of immigrants to South Australia. One wall near the entrance has a gathering of plaques in memory of oppressed and exiled peoples from their countries of origin. Free entry.

What an amazing experience and a magical moment! This museum is real gem, the history, the discovery, the moments our first generations lived when arriving in SA snd then today’s connections and reality. Take the time to jump in the past to better enjoy the present. There is also an old car: you can seat inside and imagine those moments… the old leather smell, the feelings are incredible… and I do remember those! Free entry, not too busy and easy to explore. Highly recommended

Additionally, the Migration Museum provides an educational journey through Adelaide's multicultural past, showcasing artifacts, photos, and stories that explain how the state was settled.

Adelaide Gaol locates at 18 Gaol Road where is not difficult to drive to. Compare with other museums, it doesn’t have air conditioning exhibition halls and beautiful interior decorations. However, its real heritage and historical displays are worth enough for us to spend nearly two hours to walk through it (actually, multiple blocks joined together to form this museum). After parking outside the prison, we walked to the admission counter to purchase our entry tickets. We started our self-guided tour after having a brief introduction given by the lovely staff 👍
Richard C — Google review
It was certainly an interesting but eerie visit! At the time we visited there was only a handful of other visitors so we could explore everything in peace which was nice. The employees were lovely and helpful. At the entrance we got handed a map with a suggested path to follow to ensure you see everything which was very helpful. There was a lot of exhibits with many stories of past inmates to read. Most of the gaol has been well preserved; many graffiti’s from past prisoners are able to be observed within the cell doors. Some areas were definitely spooky considering a fair few prisoners have been executed here and are buried within the outer wall. It was interesting to have seen the gaol once and I would recommend it to others however it is not something I would re visit.necessarily.

No matter what you've been told an hour is not enough . Staff are so nice , friendly and great for a joke . Plenty of I formation around the goal for self guided tours . We are going to book the ghost tour next.

We took a self-guided tour on a weekday. If you're into history, this establishment is an important part of Adelaide's history. The facility is very well-maintained & immaculately kept.
Fachrizal B — Google review
The Old Adelaide Gaol stands as a hauntingly fascinating relic of South Australia's penal history. Stepping through its imposing gates, visitors are immediately transported to a grim past where the echoes of incarcerated lives seem to linger in every brick. The self-guided tour allows for a deeply personal exploration, winding through narrow cell blocks, the exercise yards, and even the chilling execution room. While the atmosphere is undeniably somber, the gaol offers a remarkably insightful look into 19th and 20th-century prison life, highlighting the harsh realities faced by both inmates and staff. Information panels provide context, detailing notorious prisoners and significant events. It's a place that provokes thought about justice, punishment, and the evolution of human rights. Despite its dark history, the Old Adelaide Gaol is an essential visit for anyone interested in Australian social history or seeking a genuinely unique and somewhat unsettling experience. Allow ample time to absorb the weighty ambiance of this incredibly preserved landmark.

The Beachouse is an exciting amusement complex located in Glenelg, offering a wide range of activities for visitors of all ages. From thrilling water slides to mini golf and bumper cars, this destination has something for everyone. The complex features Australian-first and world-class attractions, including fully enclosed heated waterslides, dodgem cars, blaster boats, a historic carousel, mini golf course, play castle, and an Italian-built train.
Kids had a lot of fun at The Beachouse. Great idea with combination of water slides, arcade games and carnival type games. Many packages to choose from so best to research before you arrive. Parking is steep in cost so if you can street parking outside the venue, it could save you some $

I’ve experienced Beach House with my own friends, with over 100 children at a time with OSHC and with my 3 year old. This place is stimulating! My son and I love lights and noise so it was great for us! The merry go round was an accessible and enjoyable option for him, I was able to join him for no extra charge and he had a lot of fun on there! He was also desperate to try an arcade game and was convinced that it was him making all of those hoops 😉 I think that the place could do with a bit of an upgrade, a big clean and some new paint? Being by the ocean means that it probably gets damaged quicker than other places though.

A brilliant weekend for the kids with lots of laughter. Parents can also join in many games. The space is quite comfortable with great customer service. Always happy every time we come here with our children, because we see them happy.😄😄😄 Update: Again, we had a fantastic weekend with the kids, filled with laughter & fun. The customer service was friendly & welcoming as usual.

Place is so unloved needs a decent clean. Arcade games either broken partly damaged need topping up or just take your money with no go. Only thing good is the slides for now. Very costly for what it is now days. Not fun more unwelcoming and needs a bloody good clean

Beachhouse Playground is a family gem! Kids adore the creative, beach-themed equipment—especially the ship climber and sand play area. It’s spotlessly clean, shaded by palms, and safely fenced. Parents appreciate the comfy seating and ocean views. Perfect for sunny days, birthday parties, or post-beach energy burns. Pure childhood joy!
Luke L — Google review
Most of the games were not functioning properly or at all (mind they still took credit) the mini golf is in need of a lot of maintenance and stunk of stagnant water. Playground seems to have vanished since our last visit. Absolute waste of money. The place needs a massive overhaul.

I didn’t really have a good time at The Beach House. Most of the arcade games were broken or not working, which was really disappointing. The water slides weren’t running, and the water boats were also closed. For the price they charge, I expected much more. Overall, it felt overpriced and not worth the visit

The South Australian Maritime Museum, situated in Port Adelaide just a short drive from central Adelaide, offers an immersive experience into maritime history. Housed in a restored stone warehouse, the museum features permanent collections and temporary exhibits that showcase nautical history through ships' figureheads, shipwreck relics, and intricate scale models including a walkable ketch. Visitors can explore the basement to see a bunk bed aboard an 1840s immigrant ship and learn about the challenging journeys to South Australia.
We enjoyed walking around the Maritime museum. Loved all the model ships! Friendly staff and wasn't too busy. Great spot to spend an hour or two. As we left we walked to the water straight up the street and found there was loads of jellyfish!
Tarac — Google review
One of the best maritime museums I have visited around the nation. What stands out on the South Australian Maritime Museum for me is its focus on SA history, interactive science-works like activities upstairs and the ketch downstairs with compartments that are accessible. The entire place was just well maintained. My family and I truly enjoyed walking around and reading about SA history.
Siew T — Google review
Good museum illustrating and explaining the history of maritime life of South Australia, including the lives of the first peoples, explorers/navigators/cartographers/scientists, dolphins, windjammers, shipwrecks, immigrants/colonists and beach and port life. A restored ketch can be boarded and entered. Gift shop has educational books, souvenirs and jewellery. 4.5 stars. A few displays need repair, and the elevator is currently iffy. If you visit one of the four museums in Port Adelaide, you get discounted entry at the others: South Australia Aviation Museum, National Railway Museum and clipper ship "City of Adelaide."
Laura C — Google review
Engaging and extensive artefacts to view, loved the focus on the Ports history, especially on the top floor. Haven’t been since I was a child, yet it still possess the same magic and charm. Price is a bit steep, but if you pace yourself and genuinely take the time to read and interact with the artefacts (big and small), screens and audio being played throughout, it’s well worth it in my opinion.
Jack M — Google review
The South Australian Maritime Museum provides a comprehensive yet entertaining experience to all. The museum spans across three main levels, with a main exhibit of a ketch named ‘Active II’. The side exhibits are also very informative, giving specialised insight into South Australia’s maritime involvement. These are quite well designed and interactive, giving a broad range of aspects, including colonial, modern, civilian and military perspectives. Staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, the South Australia Maritime Museum is a visit well worth its price.

Cleland National Park, located in the Adelaide Hills, offers a variety of hiking trails through bushland where visitors can spot diverse native wildlife. The park is known for its popular Waterfall Gully to Mount Lofty hike and a section of the Heysen Trail. In addition to these well-known routes, there are 11 other trails that provide opportunities to observe koalas, kangaroos, and birdlife while traversing dense bushland and challenging inclines.
It’s great. You can hike up to ticket station. I heard up from there that the hike is really steep. Easy to spend a day there. Kangaroo feed 4$, ticket 33$. Easy parking, there’s also a bus that goes there. There are plenty of rest stops, so you can pack a lunch.

Even though it was a bit pricey on entry, I highly recommend this place. A large wildlife park to spend a few hours in. You can not see the entire place in under 3hours, may need the whole afternoon. Great place and workers there are awesome, professional and friendly.

Cleland National Park is a great place to experience Australia’s natural beauty. With scenic walking trails and wildlife such as koalas, kangaroos, and emus, it’s perfect for nature lovers. Visitors can feed kangaroos by purchasing a food pack for AUD 4, adding a fun and interactive element to the visit. Tickets cost AUD 33.50 for adults, with concession rates available. The park also has a beautiful lookout near the rock kangaroo area, offering stunning views of the cit. Picnic spots are available for those who want to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. While some days include koala rest days or limited access to certain areas, there’s still plenty to explore. The on-site café offers tasty snacks and lunches, making it easy to spend a full day at the park. Cleland National Park is a wonderful destination for connecting with nature and wildlife.

West Beach Mini Golf in Adelaide is a popular family attraction, especially during school holidays. The 18-hole course features a seven-sea theme with giant sharks, penguins, pirates, sea lions, and turtles. Players can even putt around the skeleton of Davy Jones. The course offers fun and challenging holes that will entertain both beginners and pros. Additionally, players have the option to play 9, 18 or 27 holes.
The whole family had so much fun , enjoyed our day at mini golf

A great place to catch up with your friends, suitable for kids party. Upon arrival at 10am in the morning on a Saturday, there were some people already. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and helped us to take group photos too. She told us the time for each kind of options written on the board according to the number of people we had. We had around 9 people, and there were 3 options. According to the time she told us, we chose the 24 holes instead of 18 holes. (can't remember exact numbers, so it might not be accurate) 24 holes is $20, 18 holes is $14. So after 18 holes we ran out of time already, and each of us lost $6 in our group as we couldn't finish the rest. A suggestion: remember if you don't have sufficient time, don't choose 24 holes if you have a big group. Overall good environment, nice atmosphere, good facilities and it was fun to play. Recommend this place.

This is one of the best mini golf courses that we have found in Australia. We have taken our grandchildren for years and the oldest at 15 years old still has a good time there. The sales shop and Cafe manager is a young adult who presents as if he hates but tolerates his job. Don't expect any polite conversation or a smile. The toilets are filthy including walls etc etc but fits with the " Its just a job" attitude of staff.. Otherwise still happy to give it 4 stars for the family fun.

Went here 2days ago. Great time. Doesnt need to be just for kids, its for those who want a bit of fun. Lucky we missed all the school kids. We played 18holes and had a blast. Clean tidy, looks simple but is a challenge. $16 worth it. Next time will play the other 9 holes on the new course.
Pip A — Google review
Not Disability Friendly.. Both in facilities and the course. Walkers & frames need to be lifted over cement edging and a few courses have obstacles which take up almost all of the hole. Need to step off and edge around these. The courses themselves were very interesting.. A wide variety of obstacles. Friendly staff, but the kiosk looks like it needs a proper clean. Coffee machine wasn't working. Toilets not accessible to the disabled. Apart from this our group enjoyed playing mini-golf.
Vicki P — Google review
We loved playing mini golf. It's a fun course and gives lots of cool photo opportunities. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Snacks / food / drinks available. The course could have been cleaner with less obstacles that have fell from natural vegetation but I guess that's hard with the business endured on the day during school holidays and it didn't really matter when playing with a 6 year old but if playing against adult could be a bit different. But it's about fun which it was. Could be tricky for people with disabilities with mobility aids to get through . Some spot would be harder to navigate with a few spots that would be a challenge. Overall a great time.
Bridget W — Google review
Awesome experience. Affordable, friendly atmosphere. Acceptance of all race, sex, disability ect ect. Great challenging holes and lots of drinks to choose from!
Amy S — Google review
Its a good little course, and the price is acceptable compared to Holey moley. But when we went it was extremely quiet, so we went around again. The young guy at the counter eventually noticed when he unglued his eyes from his phone and felt the need to let us know we will have to pay another $18 to play again. Really? When you have a really quiet day, you would think you would just let the people play again for the price they have to pay....?

Beerenberg Farm, located in Hahndorf, is a family-owned attraction that offers the opportunity to pick fresh strawberries from November to April. Visitors can enjoy the experience of hand-picking their own sweet strawberries for a small entry fee. The farm also features traditional crops such as sweet corn and mixed vegetables.
The environment is really comfortable and welcoming. The food is amazing. I ordered a big brekkie and it is worth every penny. It can feed two people easily in my opinion. It is 1000% worth it to buy any jam, it has an incredible flavour. The strawberry chocolate is so good, as a strawberry fan I highly recommend. Toilets very clean and aesthetic. Plenty of parking. Staff is very friendly. I would love to come back during strawberry harvesting season.

The new barn is modern and high-end, and I found the mini museum quite interesting. Although the strawberry patch was closed today, the café was still bustling with people. As part of our mystery trail experience, we collected our meal base and had a quick browse through the shop before leaving. If we hadn’t already had lunch, this would’ve been a lovely spot for a meal—perfect for brunch or lunch in the Adelaide Hills. That said, I feel like Beerenberg Farm has lost some of the charm and personal touches that used to make it such a special place. Little things, like being personally greeted by staff, seem to be missing now.

Gorge Wildlife Park, nestled in the scenic Adelaide Hills and just a short drive from Adelaide, offers an exceptional opportunity to interact closely with a diverse array of Australian and exotic wildlife. Established in 1965 and spanning 14 acres of natural bushland, this family-operated sanctuary is home to koalas, kangaroos, wombats, dingoes, alligators, as well as various birds and reptiles. Visitors can hold koalas and observe these animals up close.
We enjoyed a wonderful visit to Gorge Wildlife Park. A cheerful welcome from staff and good information set us happily exploring this well set out park. There are lots of animals and birds to see. All healthy and look to be enjoying the picturesque facilities. It's on a slope but the paths meander around so that it's not difficult to get to all the wildlife. Highly recommend a visit. Good for everyone

Gorge Wildlife Park is a wonderful place to visit with family. You can easily spend 1–2 hours here enjoying the animals, especially if you love interacting with and caring for them. The park is well maintained, and you can feed some of the animals. There’s also a shop where you can buy souvenirs and animal food, plus a cafe offering meals and drinks. Parking is convenient, with three car parks available, one right at the entrance and two across the road—so finding a spot is not difficult. Entry prices are fair, and for an additional fee you can hold a koala at 11:30 am or 2:30 pm, which is a popular highlight. Walking paths are in place, though some areas have slopes and stairs, so keep this in mind if you’re visiting with prams or wheelchairs. There are several spots where you can sit and enjoy your own food, making it a relaxed outing. One improvement could be adding more information boards with animal details, which would make the experience even more engaging. Overall, it’s a great family-friendly destination that balances animal encounters, facilities, and accessibility.

Absolutely worth visiting! If you want a real, hands-on Australian wildlife experience, you must visit George Wildlife Park in Cudlee Creek, South Australia. This place is completely different from Adelaide Zoo, Monarto Safari Park or most other animal parks. You can hand feed friendly kangaroos, pet adorable koalas and enjoy an up-close encounter with many of Australia’s native animals, all at very affordable prices. The atmosphere feels natural, relaxed and family friendly. Staff are welcoming and the animals are clearly well cared for. It’s the perfect spot for tourists and locals alike who want an unforgettable wildlife experience without the high crowds or high entry costs. Highly recommended!

One of the major reasons we came to Australia from the states. How many people can say they held a koala or a kangaroo ate from the palm of their hands? Fun little park, we went on a public holiday so was packed but you find your private space to interact with the animals. Staff was polite and accommodating. Make the drive to Adelaide, it is 1000% worth it.

I think this is one of the best wildlife parks in South Australia. Be careful around the Ostriches though they are opportunistic and will eat hair accessories and hats. We alerted staff about it but they didnt seem all too concerned so I hope they are doing ok. All the animals were very active. Goats and birds were mighty keen for a feed. They have Capybaras. If you want to see Fairy penguins up close this is a good place to see them. Very active dingoes too. You can hear them howling across the park.
Jasmine D — Google review
Really great open zoo for family day out. Surprise that we only discovered this recently. With the quite fair price and lots of animals to see, way better than the zoo in CBD and botanic garden. Lots of different birds and kangaroos there.

I recently visited Gorge Wildlife Park and had a wonderful experience. The park is beautifully maintained with plenty of shaded areas, which makes it comfortable to explore even on a warm day. The range of animals is impressive — from native Australian wildlife like kangaroos, koalas, and wombats to a variety of birds and reptiles. One of the highlights for me was the opportunity to hold a koala and feed the kangaroos — it was such a special, hands-on experience that you don’t get everywhere. The enclosures are clean and spacious, and it’s clear that the animals are well cared for. The staff and volunteers were friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions. There are also good picnic spots and a small café for snacks and drinks, which made it easy to spend a few hours there. Overall, Gorge Wildlife Park is a fantastic place for families, tourists, or anyone wanting to get up close with Australian wildlife. I highly recommend a visit!

The Adelaide Himeji Garden is a peaceful retreat in South Australia's capital, designed to reflect traditional Japanese aesthetics. Established in 1985 as a symbol of the sister city relationship between Adelaide and Himeji, Japan, this serene oasis features elements such as waterfalls, stone lanterns, and meandering pathways that invite visitors to immerse themselves in the tranquility of Japanese landscape architecture.
A little pocket of calm that feels far away from the city. Meticulously cared for, with so much beauty in the details—the sound of water, the gentle textures, the light on the raked gravel. Easy to pop into if you’re nearby, and always worth slowing down for.
Amelia P — Google review
Great little garden to relax and think in. Nicely laid out rock paths and a small water feature that you had a small bridge to cross. There's a cozy seating area overlooking a Zen garden/Japanese dry garden. Was there during a bit of a rain and the water was flowing nicely. Very nice place to go and have a ponder.

A beautiful peaceful garden. Not too big and plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. This is a place to enjoy the peace and quiet and respect others need for the same.
Veronica U — Google review
The Adelaide Himeji Garden is truly a hidden gem tucked among the expanse of parks. The garden essentially guarantees an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity away from the busy hustle of the city. The pond in the centre is home to several species of fish, including medaka rice fish, goldfish and even several turtles. The winding gravel track travels around the pond, leading to a clean dry garden. Crystal clear water gently trickles down rock terraces as a waterfall, passing green lilies and suffusing with the greenish water of the main pool. Copious tree coverage, including that of Bonsai trees, provides adequate shade, while the grassy lawn allows for picnics under brilliant sunshine. Ultimately, my visit to Adelaide Himeji Garden has given me overwhelming reason to revisit in the future as my favourite garden in the entire city.

Gardens
Nestled between Crafers and Piccadilly, Mount Lofty Botanic Garden spans 97 acres of sloping terrain, featuring a picturesque lake, extensive walking trails, and themed gullies adorned with exotic plants. The garden showcases a diverse array of flora from various regions including South America, China, East Africa, New Zealand, South East Asia, North America as well as Australian natives.
Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is a fantastic spot for a one-day getaway to unwind and recharge. Whether you’re looking to escape the city for a few hours or spend a peaceful day surrounded by nature, this place delivers a refreshing experience every time. We’ve visited across all four seasons, and each season brings its own charm and atmosphere—from the vibrant blossoms of spring to the crisp serenity of winter. One of the highlights is spotting wallabies and kangaroos in their natural habitat. It’s always a joy to see them hopping around, adding a touch of wild beauty to the surroundings. The Rhododendron Garden is particularly stunning when in bloom, but even outside its peak season, the greenery and layout make it worth exploring. It’s a great place for a dry picnic, so be sure to bring your own food, drinks, and a picnic rug, mat, or towel. There are plenty of open areas to sit back, relax, and enjoy a meal amidst peaceful scenery. Whether you’re going solo, as a couple, or with family and friends, the atmosphere is calm, welcoming, and ideal for some quality downtime. Highly recommended for nature lovers and anyone needing a quick refresh without venturing too far.

Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is one of my favourite places in South Australia. I’ve visited many times and always find something new to fall in love with. The variety of flowers, plants, and towering trees from all over the world is amazing, and every season brings a different kind of beauty. The walking trails are peaceful, the lake is beautiful, and there are so many perfect spots to relax, take photos, or just enjoy the fresh, cool air. It’s the perfect escape from the city. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves nature, photography, or simply a quiet, beautiful place to unwind. Can’t wait for my next visit!

Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is truly one of Adelaide’s hidden gems. The gardens are beautifully maintained and offer something special in every season — from the vibrant autumn leaves to the colourful spring blooms. The walking trails are well-marked, and there’s so much to explore, whether you want a gentle stroll or a more challenging hike. I loved wandering through the different sections, especially the cool-climate plants and the fern gullies — it feels like you’re walking through a fairytale forest at times! The views across the Adelaide Hills are stunning, and there are plenty of peaceful spots to sit and have a picnic. It’s a fantastic place for photographers, families, or anyone who just wants to escape the city for a while and reconnect with nature. The only tip is to wear good walking shoes — some paths can be quite steep. And bring a jacket, as it can be cooler up there. Overall, I highly recommend Mount Lofty Botanic Garden — it’s a perfect day out for nature lovers and a beautiful reminder of how special the Adelaide Hills are.

We had a wonderful time exploring the Mount Lofty Botanic Garden. By chance, we arrived just as a free guided walking tour was starting, and it turned out to be the highlight of our visit. Our guide, volunteer Henry Krichauff, was knowledgeable, engaging, and truly inspiring — incredibly fit and active at his age. The gardens themselves are beautifully maintained, vibrant, and full of scenic walking trails that make for a relaxing day out. Parking is also convenient and affordable, with full-day parking available for just $4.40. A peaceful and enriching place to spend a few hours or even a whole day.

What a beautiful place! I was looking to go for a walk and unwind in nature, and this spot was absolutely perfect. We explored several walking trails, and the duck pond was probably my favourite part. It’s also an ideal location for a picnic.
Alejandro C — Google review
The trees were bursting with color everywhere you look, like something straight out of a painting. There’s this huge open space that’s perfect for a picnic — you could literally spread out a blanket, relax, and just breathe in the fresh air. The whole place gives off such a calm, peaceful vibe — it’s the kind of spot that just makes you forget all your worries. Totally the perfect chill day location. Visited during the month of May.

A truly meaningful place to reflect on our planet, humanity, and ourselves. The experience is both thought-provoking and futuristic, making it a unique stop if you're nearby. Entry is free, the staff are friendly, and the exhibits are well presented. I spent around 1.5 hours here and left feeling inspired. Highly recommend a visit!

This is a great space on a cold day. It was cosy and warm. Lovely staff. Lots of interactive exhibitions full of interesting facts, things to learn and creative displays that will expand your mind and grow your imagination. Kat Bell's exhibition was a highlight with an interactive digital media installation that you could control whilst lounging on comfy pillows.

It's my first time visiting MOD. What a great way to educate and entertain at the same time. There're lots and lots of media used to explain how our earth changes and what's the implications of it. With a visit wrap by story step by step, we are introduced to every piece of meaningful arts, color plates, lights art and so many messages around the corner. Everything is set beautifully and meaningfully. I really enjoyed it.

Visited MOD today with kid and had a great time. First of all, it’s completely free to enter. There’s also a good café nearby for coffee and snacks. The space is spread across multiple levels — the ground floor, one level below, and the first floor. There were quite a few interactive exhibits and sessions, which the kid absolutely loved (and so did I!). It’s not a very long visit — around 30 to 45 minutes — but it makes for a fun and engaging little getaway for kids. Definitely worth a visit!

Recreation center
Woodhouse Adventure Park, situated in Piccadilly near Adelaide, is a thrilling destination for those who enjoy outdoor activities and seek adventure. This recreational facility offers an array of exciting options for both children and adults. Visitors can engage in various thrilling pursuits such as challenging obstacle courses, tube slides, hiking trails, and disc golf games. The vast bushland surrounding the park provides ample space for exploration and fun.
Old Woodhouse Manor was the most exceptional and beautiful venue we could have ever hoped for. The gardens were absolutely magical and provided the perfect backdrop for the garden/summer camp wedding of our dreams. Having full use of the Manor itself was such a gift — with family travelling from interstate and overseas, it meant we could all spend a magical weekend together celebrating, catching up, and making memories beyond just the wedding day. What made it even more special was the freedom we were given to truly make the space our own. Being able to fully self-cater and decorate however we liked meant we could plan a day that reflected us perfectly — all within our budget. From the relaxed setup to the thoughtful details, every moment felt effortless and deeply personal. And the cherry on top? Our pups were able to be there and be part of the celebration too! We’re so grateful we found this gem. It gave us the most unforgettable experience, and we honestly couldn’t recommend a better location to get married.

Our son was wanting to try camping and this was a perfect first trip. We booked a bell tent which came with BBQ and a selection of camping basics. My son had the best time. The facilities at the park gave a good variety of activities to do with our day. The price was great value for money.

Fantastic place to visit for a day or even stay for couple of nights. The place is acres after acres, massive area to explore and activities are all around the adventure park. So driving, walking all required. We stayed in a cabin with the family, kids just loved it and so we. We did some fire outside in a fire pit as it was cold at night, kids enjoyed it. We also liked the natural serenity around us. So green! The activities are designed in a way that everyone needs to do some work out. If you stay then the activity cost is included. It is not expensive staying overnight at all. There are BBQ pit around the places and so you do your BBQing here. Highly recommended if you have kids.

It was a very fun experience because I was hanging out at a party. It was fully inclusive although we had to pay $17 for adults to come in to see the party. The challenge Hill was challenging for the kids and me because we had to figure out how this was going to work. The tube slide is really fun and I would definitely recommend Lasertag. I’m only putting four stars in because challenger Hill has some pretty dangerous Paving and I got injured from it In my leg. Definitely come it’s worth the money. If you camp there take the chance it’s great. They also have some non-hands-on activities such as the labyrinth. Altogether a great place for kids to hang out with friends or family
Snags — Google review
I love the area and the obstacles but a few issues with the holiday activity program. A scam honestly, and the leaders for the program lied and weren't honest. They also hate fun as I noticed from their behaviour (especially one called Brooke) . The camp area was awesome and loved seeing all the wildlife but the program spoiled everything.
Snowflake — Google review
We camped for one night as a family of 8. Whilst price is expensive per night for us compared to a caravan park, it works out more affordable as we could check in at 9am and check out 5pm the next day. Kids loved the tube slide and challenge hill. We saw a lot of wildlife up close including 3 koalas (one on the ground), tawny frog mouth mother owl with its baby and ducks with ducklings. Toilet and shower blocks were clean and modern. Plenty of bench space to put your personal items. Camp kitchen areas had 4 large free BBQs, tap and sink, and lots of trestle tables. Well sheltered area if weather is bad. We appreciated the fire pit and there were numerous portable fire drums for use. Lots of grass and shade. River nearby was entertaining for older children. Little ones would need watching as fence not toddler proof. Our group enjoyed it so much we are planning our next visit.

The Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary, located just 20 minutes from downtown, is a protected coastal area where over 30 wild bottlenose dolphins reside. The sanctuary also houses a variety of other marine life and bird species. Visitors can explore the sanctuary by water through activities like paddleboarding and kayaking or observe the dolphins and birds from the mainland.
🌟 An Unforgettable Experience! We had such an amazing time on this kayak tour. Our guide was absolutely fantastic – knowledgeable, friendly, and made us feel safe and relaxed the whole time. We were incredibly lucky to spot dolphins swimming nearby, which made the experience even more magical. Being out on the water, surrounded by raw, untouched nature, truly made me feel grateful and in awe. This tour is more than just paddling – it’s a chance to reconnect with the natural world in the most beautiful way. Highly recommended!

Absolutely lovely! The dolphins were out in force, the mangroves were imposing in an emotionally powerful way, and it felt natural in the middle of one of the most industrial areas I’ve ever seen
Gideon A — Google review
Highly recommending the 3hr tour. Fantastic team building activity with the better half, and great way to see the area from a new perspective. Only saw a small glimpse of 5he dolphins but sometimes that's how the cookie crumbles. There is plenty else that you can get from the tour such as local knowledge provided by the tour guide and adventure around some of the ship wrecks in the local area. Use the toilets before hand because there are no opportunities on the water. Plenty of parking.
Paloma P — Google review
The Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary is more than just a haven for dolphins—it's a place of extraordinary natural beauty and deep cultural significance. Nestled among mangroves and winding tidal creeks, this sanctuary offers a peaceful escape where you can witness resident bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat, alongside a rich diversity of bird and marine life. Equally important is its cultural and spiritual significance to the Kaurna People. The sanctuary lies within the traditional lands and waters of the Kaurna Nation, whose connection to Country stretches back tens of thousands of years. This area is part of the ancestral pathway of Tjirbruke, the revered Kaurna creation ancestor. According to Kaurna tradition, Tjirbruke carried the body of his nephew along the coast, mourning deeply and creating freshwater springs with his tears. These springs of sorrow are scattered along the coastline—including sites close to Garden Island—and remain sacred to this day. Visiting the Dolphin Sanctuary is a powerful reminder of the enduring relationship between First Nations Peoples and the land and waters of South Australia. It’s a place of reflection, learning, and deep respect—for nature and for ancient storylines that still shape this place today. Highly recommended for those seeking not only natural beauty but also an understanding of living culture.

Haigh's Chocolates + Factory Tours is a renowned Adelaide institution that offers free guided tours of its factory, providing visitors with an inside look at the chocolate-making process and educating them on the sourcing of cocoa beans. The tour has become a must-do activity in Adelaide, especially for families with kids. Haigh's chocolate shops can be found in various Australian capital cities, offering a wide range of delectable chocolates including truffles and fudges.
Visited Haigh’s Chocolate Factory on Greenhill Road, Adelaide, and absolutely loved the experience! The guided tour was about 30 minutes – informative, well-paced, and gave a great insight into how their chocolates are made. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. The best part, of course, was sampling their delicious chocolates at the end – so rich and high quality. A must-visit spot in Adelaide for chocolate lovers!

Fulfilling a childhood dream of visiting a chocolate factory! Well behind glass on a viewing deck away, with a couple samples. No songs or kids being turned into blueberries. It was a no photo zone. . 🍫 Being the factory they also have outlet packs of chocolates, priced around $20. It's a huge shop, compared to the city stores, a stop not destination near the CBD. . 🍫 Haigh's Chocolate Factory Tours @haighschocolates 📍 Parkside, Adelaide (south of the grid) 🚗 There's parking and a bus nearby 💵Entry is free
Charlie C — Google review
We came for a look, as we were trying to fill some time before flying home, and it was recommended to come here. The factory tour was okay. I was expecting more from the tour, but they are framing it as a 'self guided tour.' There were a few samples to try in the store as you were paying, which should have been offered earlier as an incentive to buy them prior to getting to the registers and having to halt the line whilst you went and got the product from the shelves. Also, we had never eaten Haigh's before, so we were unsure if we even liked it so we were unsure whether to buy any. For what it is, we found it very overpriced. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate, whereas I preferred Melba's. I wouldn't return unless buying a special treat for my husband.
Caitlin S — Google review
Very informative tour with lots of yummy samples. My only suggestion for improvement would be a nicer seating area for the talk at the beginning.
Ange L — Google review
I accidentally booked the tour for the wrong date and arrived a little late due to parking, but the staff went above and beyond to look after us. Rina was so kind, offering us sample chocolates and giving us time to shop. Matty welcomed us into the tour, and he was absolutely fantastic—funny, engaging, and clearly perfect for the role. My son said it’s been his favourite day in Adelaide so far! Thank you to the Haigh’s team for such wonderful customer service and a memorable experience.
Taryn K — Google review
I attended the chocolate factory tour today with my parents, who are visiting us from overseas. The factory had accessible toilets, and the location is also suitable for people with special abilities / needs. There were a few free parking spots available, which was helpful. The tour was excellent. A lovely lady guided us through the experience, explaining the history of the chocolate factory and showcasing how much of the chocolate-making process is still done by hand. The tour began with a chocolate tasting session and ended with another one. At the conclusion of the tour, visitors had the option to purchase chocolates, although it wasn’t compulsory. We bought some anyways as you can't resist. Unlike most places in Australia, both the tour and the chocolate tasting were free, which was a pleasant surprise. We had a great time and would definitely recommend this place to others. Thank you to the lovely staff and management. Keep making the great chocolates locally 😊
Mandeep P — Google review
Really enjoyed our visit! From our warm welcome, with samples, by Matty to the tour conducted by the knowledgeable Pam, the whole morning was fun. Was great to learn about how the Haigh family developed their chocolate business, while nibbling on samples. We watched the hand rolling of truffles, the spinning of Chocolate bilbys and hand wrapping of eater eggs. I was impressed with the packaging of the chocolate purchased and have loved my choices of choc orange discs and freckles. Saving my Australian Made with Australian beans grown in QLD to enjoy during TC Alfred. If you're in Adelaide, this is a stop you should put on your list. Especially if it's your birthday. But do note that the chocolate is priced as you would expet hand made chocolate to be. Recommend the seconds section.

the moment you step through the doors, you're swept away by the rich aroma of chocolate and the warmth of beautifully curated décor. We held our daughter’s 5th birthday yesterday and it was absolutely amazing - our hosts were Ethan and Indie and they were smiling, patient, courteous and attentive and definitely an asset to waterworld! Being our first time we were not sure what to to expect -we booked for 15 kids and they got a lovely private area of the pool for games. Everything went smoothly, and despite having a few alterations to plans they were super accommodating and also being Australia Day a super busy day where if not staffed appropriately I could see things getting missed or being a little all over the shop but that did not happen at all and none of the staff looked one bit stressed! Thankyou so much for making our daughters birthday one to remember the kids had a wonderful time playing games, swimming, eating and enjoying the sunshine! Belair National Park, located just 25 minutes south-east of Adelaide CBD, offers a variety of activities for visitors. It is the birthplace of South Australia's national parks system and has a rich history dating back to 1837. The park features hiking and mountain biking trails, as well as sports grounds including tennis courts and cricket pitches. Additionally, it is home to koalas and kangaroos in its wild bushland.
Belair National Park is one of my favourite places to visit for a day out in nature. The park is absolutely beautiful, with well-maintained walking trails that suit all fitness levels. There’s so much to explore — from waterfalls and creeks to lovely picnic spots and historic buildings. The wildlife is amazing too — we spotted koalas, kangaroos, and lots of birdlife. It’s such a peaceful place to unwind and reconnect with nature. The picnic and BBQ areas are clean and well looked after, and there are plenty of grassy open spaces for kids to run around. The playground is great for families too. I also appreciate how easy it is to access from Adelaide — it’s so close yet feels like a true escape. Highly recommend Belair National Park to anyone looking for a relaxing bushwalk, a family picnic, or just a breath of fresh air in beautiful surroundings.

Lovely park but very dry at the moment. End of April 2025 We did a waterfall loop through the tunnel which was really nice and to the lower part and then the upper part of the falls. Even though there was no water the views are lovely and we were rewarded with 7 koala spotting and one echidna. Kangaroos and many different types of birds galore. Park is very well maintained with lots of trails, picnic areas, toilets and a playground. It seems to be less busy than Morialta and Cleland which for me was a bonus. The entry fee is $13.50 but you can also park before the entrance and walk in.

Ideal for a day trip, the park has plenty of picnic areas with BBQs, shelters, and toilets. Kids can enjoy playgrounds and open spaces, while adults relax or explore. Wildlife is abundant—keep an eye out for kangaroos, koalas, and colorful birds. Great trails, beautiful scenery and lovely plants and wildlife. We went for the wild flowers and we were very happy. There are lovely orchids growing and all kids of other native flowers. I have mobility issues so the trail we chose (Microcarpa) took quite a lot longer than the 1 hour quoted. However a lot of it was fairly easy to do until we hit a section that was much more undulating. We know for next time though and will probably just do the first half then turn back.

When we went to the State library, the first thing we did was we went in a room full of electrical devices through the decades, which was pretty cool. We went to the Centre of Democracy and saw how democracy has changed over the years, and there was an informative touch screen display with many leaders and other important people. One of the most memorable rooms in this library was the Mortlock Wing. It has walls lined with old books that goes up three storeys high with a quiet study areas for people to use. It has a very classical and old feel to it a quite amazing historical place to visit. I would definitely recommend visiting the state library if you're in Adelaide.

A fascinating place for both history buffs and photographers. The affiliated museum is definitely worth visiting if you wish to get a quick sketch of the state’s past and present or run into some interesting stories behind exhibits. Last not but least, don’t miss the Holden exhibition!

Definitely worth to go, it is the kind of library has breathtaking views. Met a kind librarian offered a brief tour. It was great to know more about the place.

The Mortlock Wing of the State Library of SA, what an amazing library in a historical building. There are many old books. I guess none of the books is younger than me, although I am very old already. It's a very old building, but nicely maintained and equipped with air-conditioning. Self-studying inside this historical building would remind you to keep quiet and surrounded by so many historical books would definitely remind you it's time to read and study instead of doing other things. What surprised me was the skylight lay in the middle of the historical building. We see skylights everywhere nowadays in big shopping malls, universities and various commercial or government buildings. How come it was also in the mind of Architects 150 years ago when this historical building was designed and constructed?

Nice quiet state library, managed to spot some old black and white Adelaide photos. its a pity that Mortlock wing is under renovation possibly till September 2025.
Nigel W — Google review
It’s a shame that the Mortlock Chamber is closed for renovations as I really wanted to see it. The main library had a great exhibition on Holden cars. You can hire for free since small and large meeting rooms here. The National Archives are also here. I do feel that there was a lot of empty for space here though. It has a great foyer exhibit with its oldest artefact that it owns - a tiny Mesopotamian tablet. You can even go into the first State Library which is now the home of The Centre for Democracy.

Chasing Hogwarts in Adelaide. The Mortlock Wing (1884) above the gallery was stunning! Well worth spending an hour exploring just this area. . Note - Silent study, and it's actually too dark to study and there's no lamps. It's a lot darker than in the professional photos too. . 📚 @statelibrarysa 📍 North Terrace, Adelaide 💵 Free entry, oddly no enforced cloakroom or security (huge contrast with Melbourne - fights about bringing in an EMPTY keepcup straight to the lockers, it's personal but I've had multiple panic attacks going to state lib of vic)

The River Torrens Linear Park Trail is a recreational public facility that stretches from Henley Beach to the Lofty Mountains. The trail is a great place to cycle down or take a leisurely stroll, and it's also perfect for walking dogs.
The Linear park experience is recommended. Have walked to West Beach from the Brickworks, lunched at the surf club there and returned. Tired but excited . Have also walked from Brickworks through to the city doing the return loop from Hackney. Just as good on a beautiful winter's day. Excellent facility to have in a major city.

My mate and I jumped on our bikes and picked up the trail just south of The Adelaide Convention Centre and used the riverside cycling track as our guide all the way west to the St Vincent’s Gulf and then south along the beach towards the Adelaide Airport for some spectacular cross wind aircraft landings. The trail is very well made, signed and is quite beautiful to ride with varying vegetation areas and makes for a great way to spend several hours.

I just love all the parks, rivers and wetlands throughout Adelaide and surrounding areas. This was my first visit the Henley Beach section of the River Torrens Linear Park Trail. As it was late afternoon in the winter I only walked to the first river crossing but utterly enjoyed the experience. On this side (north side) there is for the most part two tracks near each other - one is bitumen and the other gravel. The runners and cyclists used the first and some of the walkers used the latter. Dogs on lead allowed and I was pleased to see that the owners of dogs adhered to this policy. Lots of frogs and water birds around. There is also some undercover seating, though not sure I saw any bins around so it's a matter of taking all rubbish home with you.

St Peter's Cathedral, a stunning neo-Gothic Anglican cathedral in Adelaide, South Australia, has been an iconic landmark since 1878. The cathedral boasts remarkable stained glass windows and sculptures that captivate visitors. Its architecture is reminiscent of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, featuring a striking rose window depicting stories of South Australia and the Bible. Inside, the cathedral spans 203 feet with a serene Lady Chapel occupying 30 feet.
Truly a lovely cathedral. Stain glass windows are very nice. The cathedral is in immaculate condition. Great photo opportunity. Also nice for a prayer if you are so inclined.

Could not get inside, but the outside architecture does impress, very much in a style of traditional gothic cathedrals in The UK. Most impressive.
Alex — Google review
St Peter's Cathedral in Adelaide is a stunning architectural gem that gracefully represents the city's profound history and commitment to its religious legacy. The cathedral's majestic spires and elaborate stonework are a testament to the Gothic Revival style. The interior is truly breathtaking, with magnificent stained glass windows that cast a spectrum of colors across the sacred space, creating an atmosphere of reverence and tranquility. The history of St Peter's is as fascinating as its appearance. Constructed between 1869 and 1904, it has been a silent witness to the city's evolution and a steadfast symbol of faith for its community. The cathedral's role transcends religion, serving as a gathering place for the community and a venue for various cultural events. Visitors are often captivated by the cathedral's ability to blend historical significance with a sense of welcoming warmth, making it a must-visit destination for both worshippers and architecture enthusiasts alike.

The South Australian Aviation Museum, located in Port Adelaide, is a multi-hangar museum that showcases a diverse collection of historic planes and aviation artifacts. Housed in a WWII hangar, the museum features approximately 15 aircraft including an impressive F-111 bomber. Visitors can explore themed galleries filled with modern and heritage aircraft, engines, propellers, and rockets. Guided tours are available for those interested in delving deeper into the history of specific planes.
What a delightful journey through South Australia's skies awaits at the Aviation Museum! From the moment you step inside, you're embraced by the spirit of flight, surrounded by a fascinating collection of aircraft that whisper tales of innovation and adventure. The lovingly preserved planes, from vintage biplanes to powerful jets, offer a tangible connection to aviation history. What truly elevates this museum is the engaging way it presents its exhibits. You can almost feel the rumble of the engines and the rush of wind beneath the wings. The informative displays and passionate volunteers bring each aircraft's story to life, making it accessible and captivating for all ages. Whether you're an avid aviation enthusiast or simply curious, a visit to the SA Aviation Museum is a truly enriching and memorable experience. It's a place where the dreams of flight take tangible form.

The South Australian Aviation Museum provides a unique and exciting insight to the history of all things aircraft. There are over 10 main aircraft, such as the AP-3C Orion, Fokker F27 Friendship, and F-18 Hornet, split across two hangars. There is also a surprising collection of both military and commercial aircraft. Knowledgeable and passionate staff are able to give extensive information about missiles, planes, helicopters and more. Many old books are also able to purchased from the shop for under $5! My only criticism is that some interactive exhibits are in need of maintenance, including the flight simulator. Ultimately, my visit to South Australian Aviation Museum has been gratifying and worthwhile.

Visited here with my toddler and husband. We really enjoyed looking at all the aircraft and equipment displays. We very much enjoyed being able to go inside a bunch of the aircraft and learning about them. They have 2 big hangars with a good range of things to look at. Food and drinks not allowed in the museum but have a good area to sit between the hangars to have a snack break. They also have a good museum shop with toys, a wide range of model aeroplanes and souvenirs. Would definitely recommend this museum. You can also go to the other museums in the port area for a discounted price with min 2 months of the first visit.

I’m glad I visited this museum on the weekend. It's a popular spot and a great place to bring kids. You can see many unique planes, most of which are well-preserved, and some you can even enter and explore. The museum grounds have recently been upgraded with a larger parking area, making it more convenient for visitors. The best part is the friendly volunteers who are always eager to share interesting information about the exhibits. Overall, it's a fun and educational outing, and I highly recommend it for a weekend visit!

The Adelaide Showground Farmers' Market is a vibrant open-air market featuring a wide array of stalls offering fresh produce and baked goods. It serves as a sustainable platform for South Australian farmers to directly engage with the community, showcasing their seasonal offerings. The market's mission revolves around promoting local produce manufacturing and fostering an understanding of fresh food production's relationship with a healthy environment. With approximately 100 stallholders, visitors can enjoy an authentic experience while forging connections with local producers.
Just visited the farmer’s market today, and it was a wonderful experience. There’s plenty of stalls that carry everything that you could possibly need from fresh produce (veggies, meat, poultry & seafood), to pastries, food, cheese etc. The ambience & vibes exploring the farmer’s market on a weekend was great as well. Many families with children, dogs, was a blast. Plentiful of good & coffee to keep you going as well 👍🏼

Popular event each Sunday. Note occasional changes in location. Outdoor and indoor tents and stalls. Outdoor seating. Large number of vendors. Lots of vegan options. I bought from Let Them Eat (savoury pastries, salads, patties), Croissant d’Or Bakery, Yummy Veggies (pickled veg, dolmades), Darlin’ Dal (frozen pot-pies, lentil dal meal bases) and Cooinda’s dried-fruit. Several fruit-and-vegetable vendors, many organic or pesticide-free. Get there early, for shorter waits. Lovely music by three young people near the entrance. I spent about $80. Probably good to become a member, if you live in the area. (Aug 3, 2025)

This is a “traditional” farmers market where local farmers & producers / artisans can only sell what they grow or make - locally. No interstate or imported goods. So please bear that in mind. To all the people that complain that it’s expensive, it’s your choice! if you don’t like the price, don’t buy it. Simple really, you the customer have the power.

The highlight of the week is going to the wonderful farmers market with my family, getting our coffee and hot chocolate from the amazing Mem then onto Patlins for most of our veg before picking up our of the fresh produce and of course a lavender brownie too! What a great way to start Sunday’s!!!!!

Very nice and clean farmers market. There's so many food stalls, bakeries, cakes, drinks, etc in the indoor area. You can listen to music since there's a few ladies playing the violin. The outdoor area also has some stalls selling drinks, sourdough, honey, etc. There's a number of covered seating area for you to dine and have your breakfast or brunch. There's a few vegetable stalls, fruit stall and one stall selling fish. Many people at the farmers market but not to worry as there are plenty of parking spaces. I think the flower stall is the best seller since so many people bought beautiful flowers from them and the price is reasonable.
Noorzidah N — Google review
For us, it it easy to get there, and the selection of South Australian produce is in most cases excellent. The atmosphere is relaxed with a personal touch. I also like that the market is flexible with its location, so it can pop up elsewhere if the main spot isn’t available.

Nice Farmers Market just a little south of the central part of town. It’s easily accessible by both train and tram (though unfortunately just a couple of stops outside the free tram zone). It has a wide variety of fresh produce as well as numerous stalls inside and outside selling food and drinks. It’s free to enter and worth the visit if you’re nearby. There seemed to be some similar vendors to the Central Market, though it had a much different vibe. FYI, try to get there earlier than later as things were starting to close up when we visited at noon.

For more experienced hikers, the Marion Coastal Walk offers a 5.1 km route along the boardwalk with exceptional ocean views and passes through the unique Hallett Cove Conservation Park.
Highly recommend walk for photographers or fitness ,not too busy, not too strenuous but plenty of fantastic natural sites along the way. Excellent board walk along the rugged coastline of the Hallett Cove Conservation Park. There are a few spots along the way where you can venture down towards the water. The views are stunning 😍. This board walk is also part of the Marion coastal trail, which is about 7 km long. There is interpretive signage along the route describing the park's cultural and geological heritage, including evidence of an Australian ice-age some 280 million years ago 😳.

Kasiani K — Google review
We walk here often—it’s easily one of Adelaide’s most stunning coastal walks. In fact, I’d go so far as to say it’s Adelaide’s best walk (yes, much better than Mount Lofty in my opinion). The dramatic cliffs, ocean views, and changing light make every walk a bit different. I recommend starting your journey at either The Nest Café or Marino Rocks Café—both offer a great pre-walk coffee and a good vibe to kick things off. From there, follow the well-maintained boardwalk as it winds along the coast. At a moderate pace, it’ll take you about an hour to reach Hallett Cove’s Boatshed Café. The scenery along the way is spectacular: rugged cliffs, crashing waves, sea birds, and on a clear day, sweeping views of the Gulf. It’s great for photographers, nature lovers, or anyone just needing a bit of headspace. Once you reach the Boatshed Café, grab a coffee or a smoothie, then take some time to explore the area behind the café. You’ll find some of the region’s most fascinating geological features—ancient glacial pavements, clay formations, and layered rock that tell a story millions of years old. Perfect for a weekend stroll, a catch-up walk with friends, or even a peaceful solo outing. Just bring water, decent shoes, and maybe a windbreaker if it’s breezy.

And the more deeper section than 1.8m stays closed for normal public most of the time, only open for professionals/members. But overall, this is the awesome place to spend a day with your kids and food is also super delicious. 🤤

Nice playground outside, Rang up to make sure that everything would be on when we got there nothing was actually on was told we could get a refund but realistically we lost our on time driving down there and home and petrol So really disappointed

Very nice place and suitable for all ages . Has three big pools. 60 to 90cm with slides and small fountains , 1.8 m and 5 m. Just outside there is a very nice playground for kids as well.
Houssain G — Google review
Large swimming pools. Heated pools. Spas. The lockers require tokens purchased on entry. Overpriced cafe with average to below average food. Overpriced swim shop. Fitness centre with steam room and sauna. The diving board is rarely open. Car park is usually very busy and can be full during school carnivals or on weekends. Could do with some more water fountains, but that is only nitpicking. Spacious grounds with barbecue facilities both inside and out.
Doran R — Google review
Free parking. Large Change room facilities and also private family/disability rooms available. Lockers are for a small fee. Gym, diving & lap pool, slide, toddler & kids pool separate. ****Cafeteria is currently operating post Covid, restrictions in place*** Swim Shop offers variety googles, bathers, floats etc. Lawns & seating area outside to pack a picnic. Also outside the premises is a great kids playground & bbq facilities on ample lawn space

Awesome for kids. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Generally a great place for kids to learn swimming or just have fun. Swimming lessons in progress, great results.

Funtopia Prospect is a fantastic family-friendly destination that promises an unforgettable day of fun and adventure for kids of all ages. With its dedicated Toddler World, little ones under two can explore their creativity through engaging activities like building blocks, slides, and interactive games designed just for them. Meanwhile, older children can enjoy the excitement of Playground World or challenge themselves on the climbing walls. Parents can relax with a coffee from skilled baristas while keeping an eye on their energetic kiddos.
Wow, what an amazing place! Funtopia Prospect is a paradise for kids and adults alike! The moment you step in, you're surrounded by the infectious sound of laughter and excitement. The coffee shop is well-stocked with everything you need to fuel up for a fun-filled day. The small bumper Go-Karts and climbing area are perfect for little adventurers, while the slides are simply amazing. And let's not forget the fun catching toys that add an extra layer of excitement! The best part? There's plenty of seating and party rooms available, making it an ideal spot for birthday parties and celebrations. We had an absolute blast and can't wait to come back! 5 stars isn't enough - we'd give it 10 stars if we could!

We recently visited Funtopia and overall had a fun experience. It’s a great place for kids — very energetic and well set up for play. The café also surprised us in a good way. The food was quite good, and the portion sizes were generous, which isn’t always the case at places like this. However, we were quite disappointed that the climbing centre was closed, especially since that was the main reason for our visit. Unfortunately, we were only informed about the closure about three hours before arriving, which didn’t leave us much time to change plans. It would’ve been better to know further in advance, as the climbing area was something we were really looking forward to. Despite that, the staff were friendly and helpful, and we still made the most of our time there. We’ll likely visit again — but next time, we’ll definitely call ahead to double-check what's open.
Natali N — Google review
We had our girls’ birthday party here and Maneli and Tony were absolutely lovely, patient, and helpful even with our big group of kids. We used both the play area and the climbing wall, and everyone had a fabulous time. The food was delicious too, and they kindly let us take the leftovers home.
Janelle C — Google review
We booked one of the party rooms and the venue was fantastic. We were allowed to bring our own decorations and the rooms were nice and spacious considering. The hostess for our party did a fantastic job with setting up the table and room and assisting me with anything I needed. The venue is a great space for your birthday celebrations or just a good days play, we personally found immense value within the birthday packages. Thank you funtopia. Only fault was due to the chaotic moment we walked in on a I feel we were a little let down with organization within my party list and guest. One of my guest paid when she shouldn't have / a list maybe should have been prepped a little better so apon arrival they knew exactly who was on my list and who wasn't. All in all though we can overlook that to still give a 5/5 star service.

Kids absolutely loved their time at a birthday party when coming into Funtopia. Matilda was an excellent worker who helped answer questions and was super friendly. Both kids and adults felt at ease. Will be back again soon!

Funtopia is such a great play cafe! The food and coffee is amazing always such fresh ingredients! Pamela makes the play group so much fun with her bubbly personality. Highly recommend

Was told upon entry I HAVE to purchase socks to accompany my son even though I’m wearing clean socks meanwhile parents allowed on with bare dirty feet 🦶 and filthy socks?? With their kids coughing their guts up with covid. I think I am the only parent wearing the official socks, utter waste of money. Place smells like farts and the chicken smells like a woman’s sanitary bin in a public toilet. Overall underwhelming compared to Bounce and other play cafe’s we have been to. Double standards galore.

We had a great experience for my son’s 6th birthday party. Matilda was an excellent, organised and engaging party host. All went smoothly and the food was very good. Would definitely recommend for parties for ages 4-9.

Embark on a delightful adventure along the River Torrens with the iconic Popeye Cruises in Adelaide. Departing from Elder Park, these daily cruises offer a leisurely way to explore the city's points of interest while enjoying the comfort of a boat. Whether you're seeking a family-friendly outing or a romantic escapade, these tours provide ample photo opportunities and an escape from the hustle and bustle.
The cruise was an all-round pleasant experience with a terrific crew in James & Flynn who were friendly, efficient & helpful. James' commentary was wonderfully informative and delivered in a natural style as though he was telling a story which mattered to him and not just reciting a script. We had a thoroughly enjoyable morning while learning a lot about Adelaide & the Torrens River. The scones, jam & cream of the Devonshire Tea made the whole experience even more worthwhile. Thoroughly recommended!!
Tom H — Google review
Enjoyed the cruise & commentary. We booked 10am & that worked well with then fitting in other things for the day. Booking was easy & instructions worked well. I enjoyed the old photos. Getting off at the zoo worked well as we walked back through the Botanical Park & Gardens. Adelaide put on a beautiful day too. Thank-you! Captain following swans was a hit too as l we come up from Melbourne to see swans!
Paula W — Google review
Fantastic experience not only for my grandchildren but also for the adults aboard the river cruise. The “Captain” was terrific - absolutely across the history and current news of the area. I learnt so much about my own “backyard” as did the children. The crew were extremely personable yet professional, funny and entertaining. The Captain kept all aboard totally engaged throughout the 45 minute tour. My seven year old grandson wanted to join the following cruise to go again! We will definitely be buying vouchers as gifts for friends and family. A classic example of forgetting what we have in our own backyard. It made me proud to be a South Australian! Congratulations on a premium tourism experience (I used to be an Australian Tourism Awards judge in a past life so I can say that!). Have to give the nearby Home Ground cafe/restaurant a big shout out too for great coffee and al fresco lunch after the cruise. Thank you for making the day such a memorable experience for my grandchildren and me!
Sharyn R — Google review
I had a beautiful time on this river cruise! Sam and Anastasia were very friendly and passionate about informing guests about Adelaide and its history. We got to get off at the zoo and botanic gardens and get picked up later in the day. Highly recommend!
Caitlin M — Google review
What a great little morning cruise this was (Devonshire Tea option included). The 45mins doesn’t seem long, but in that time “the captain” dishes out in a typical Aussie fashion the history of Adelaide from the perspective of the river, and the story behind Popeye the boat. It’s really quite like going back into time to small cruises with locals running the show. The staff were great - the Devonshire tea huge (2 massive scones, heaps of cream and jam plus a coffee/tea), and just a pleasant way to learn more about the city. (You can tell that the “captain” giving the commentary loves his city!)
Andrew R — Google review
It was a nice little trip on the Torrens River - with Skipper James who had lots of information about the city and the adjacent river sights. It was interesting and something diffrent for 45min spending time on the water in Adelaide. Thx
Kay F — Google review
Booked a Popeye River cruise through GetYourGuide and was not disappointed. Although the cruise is brief with 40 ish minutes ($26 pp) we enjoyed it a lot. It provides a good insight for people who haven’t seen anything of Adelaide yet. The boat was really cute and the 2 man crew was very lovely. I believe we had captain Sam and helping hand Flynn in charge of us. We loved the commentary and the jokes from the captain. There is a bar on board to purchase snacks and drinks from. We had absolutely stunning weather for our cruise. People did not have to have pre purchased tickets; it is also possible to purchase tickets on site where the boat docks at Elder Park. Many thanks for the lovely tour 🛥️🌊

We did the Kangaroo Island Spirits trip yesterday and it was fantastic! Jamie our host was engaging and very informative. Finn was on the ball and helped to serve us our drinks. Captain Sam was lovely and tooted the horn to all the passersby! What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon with friends.

Cirkidz, located in Bowden, offers an array of exciting school holiday programs that are both educational and entertaining. These programs cover a wide range of activities such as trampoline work, trapeze, hula hooping, jumping, and tumbling. The school is not just for kids; adults can also join in on the fun!
My daughter has been attending Cirkidz for around 3-4 years now, and she absolutely loves it! She loves the community atmosphere with talented, energetic trainers and a wide variety of apparatus to choose from. The challenge of working up to upcoming performances leaves her buzzing with excitement after each session. The older kids in the higher performing groups are so supportive and are great role models, as are the trainers. Circus isn't considered a team sport, but each group is a team. She never wants to miss a session.
Genine R — Google review
We love CirKidz. My 4 year old son has been attending classes for 6 months now and his motor skills and confidence have improved. The trainers are wonderful, kind and engaging and there's a lot of thought that is put into the programs and there's something new every week. Can't recommend enough.
Cassie H — Google review
Staff were great with the kids. Various programs available, and plenty of equipment to try. We liked the range of options, and whilst it was structured with stations, the kids were able to choose which ones they wanted to participate in. The toilets are located outside the building which meant a little prior planning to ensure safety, and the building is a little run down but was a great holiday option for kids 6-12. Gymnastics with a circus element.
JONK3R — Google review
It is a brilliant place for kids to gain confidence, learn great skills, while having a lot of fun.

Excellent, lovely trainers, amazing for keeping kids active and building confidence. The shows they put on at the Fringe each year are exceptional and all student driven.

This is our second year attending preschool classes at Cirkidz and we love it. The main training area is fully decked out with trampolines, soft mats, ropes, trapeze, silks everything you could need. All staff are wonderful, and communication couldn't be easier! Cirkids is more than training, it's a community.
Hayley F — Google review
We looked long and hard for holiday activities for our son who has ASD and ADHD. At other activities he has quickly tired of the activities and found them boring. Cirkidz had him wanting to go more, he loved it. The staff were so good with him, made us and him feel welcome everyday he went there. I would reccommend this to any family looking for a safe environment for kids to push themselves to try new things.
Bill G — Google review
My 5 year old has been going to Cirkidz for 2 years and loves it. Her physical and social confidence has improved immensely. The Cirkidz instructors are excellent and patient dealing with all the different kids, and the approach is inclusive, uncompetitive, and fun.

Captain Jolleys Paddle Boats have been a popular attraction in Adelaide since 1962, offering pedal-powered boats for families and tourists to enjoy on the River Torrens. The boats provide a fun and active way to take in the local scenery, with options for two-person or family-sized boats available for hire. With calm waters and included life jackets, it's a suitable and enjoyable experience for kids.
This is one of the few boating places in Adelaide. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Elder Park, Adelaide Festival Centre, Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide Oval, The City Bridge, etc. on both sides of the river from a new perspective by playing a pedal boat on the widest part of the Torrens River. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The yellow boat is suitable for two people, and the blue boat can accommodate up to two adults and two children. Half an hour passed quickly, and the children enjoyed the experience very much. We will come again.
Lu L — Google review
The staff were very friendly, and we had a great time overall! However, the paddle board we used was quite squeaky and noisy — it really should be taken out of service or properly serviced. The pink one in particular seemed to be the issue. That said, apart from that, it was a lot of fun, and 30 minutes is the perfect amount of time to enjoy the experience!
Ahmad S — Google review
This is certainly a must for locals and visitors! It’s a very cool way to explore the River Torrens, but particularly get quite incredible views of Adelaide CBD, and also Adelaide Oval & Memorial Drive. We were given a succinct briefing on where we were and weren’t allowed to go, ho to paddle the boats, the steaming then we departed. Thank you to the local guys working there!

Yeh nah perfect activity for a first date or a Sunday outing with your nearest of kin. Many colours to choose from. Play chicken with the Popeye Ramsay Art Boat. Paddle through the ‘Talking Our Way Home’ sculpture. Admire the Adelaide Bridge concrete arches. Get up close and personal with the Riverbank Precinct Pedestrian Bridge. And witness the miraculous floating sneaker. Great value for money, especially if you’re creative enough to capitalise on the experience.

Additionally, visitors can book a guided viewing tour to gain insight into Haigh’s chocolate-making methods. Although these tours are currently suspended due to Covid-19, they are typically available for booking.
Well worth a Visit!! As a chocolate lover and longtime fan of Haigh's chocolates, the self-guided tour at the factory was a real treat and free!! Thank you for making this option available. The tour provided a fascinating insight into the craft of making chocolate. Staff were attentive and friendly. It is adjacent to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and serves as a popular spot for wedding ceremonies due to its picturesque Moreton Bay Fig trees. The park hosts various music and film events, making it a lively destination for visitors.
What could be better than a morning wander through the garden, with the scent of flowers carried on the crisp autumn breeze and the sun casting a golden glow over the petals? Time seemed to slow right down, letting the fragrance weave through my hair, brush against my fingertips, and settle in every glance. Even on the walk back, the sweet scent lingered in the air and covered my soul. With love,

Unfortunately, only Melbourne seems to allow dogs on leash in the botanical gardens. Neither Adelaide nor Sydney does. Victoria Square, also known as Tarntanyangga, is a central public space in Adelaide that holds cultural and historical significance. It features a large green area with gum trees and a fountain that represents the three rivers supplying water to Adelaide. This vibrant square hosts various events and is a popular meeting spot for locals and tourists alike. Families with children can enjoy interactive art installations, water feature displays, and live performances during the summer.
Attended a Multicultural Festival held in the parkland of Victoria Square. There were plenty of stall holders, dances, activities and general family fun on the day.
Normandy J — Google review
The Victoria Square Christmas Tree Lighting event is a well-organized celebration, offering a clean, safe environment perfect for families. With plenty of food trucks, there are diverse options to enjoy, live music, carols, dance, and ample toilet facilities, which makes it convenient for everyone. The festive atmosphere and attention to detail make it a memorable start to the holiday season.
Reinaldo R — Google review
Location for Tasting Australia, beautiful use of the square. Fountains, lights, music ...it was stunning. A great variety of food vendors, ranging from fried chicken, pork belly lollipops, Thai sweet potato donuts and Vegemite soft serve. Would have liked more seating/tables though, made it exceptionally difficult to enjoy the delicious range of food and drinks.
Sophia — Google review
The Tasting Australia from 2-10 May is held at Victoria Square. There are many food stalls with international cuisine, cooking classes and entertainment here. A perfect place for a chill out.
Maggie C — Google review
This square was established in 1854 and named after England's Queen Victoria. It was planned by Colonel William Light as he sited and laid out the City of Adelaide. The Square was redeveloped between 2012 and 2014 and now plays host to a number of different events and activities. The fountain at the southern end represents the three rivers which supply Adelaide with water - the Murray, the Torrens and the Onkaparinga. There are a number of benches available and a variety of trees providing shade for those wishing to relax on the grass, eat lunch or just watch the world go by. It's a lovely area to spend time, with majestic buildings - including the Catholic Cathedral - nearby. It was a shame, though, to see so many cigarette buttons lying around the benches.
Emmy S — Google review
It's a clean place, its very spacious and it holds annual events every year like setting up a giant christmas tree and more. Food trucks can be spotted outside of Victoria Square sometimes, and it's close to a tram stop, it's not a bad place, I would go there if you had time, just for a place to relax. Good place.
Melissa N — Google review
Victoria Square (Tarntanyangga) ⭐☆☆☆☆ If you’ve ever wondered what colonial cosplay looks like, come to Victoria Square in Adelaide. Picture it: the very heart of Kaurna Country, renamed after Queen Victoria - a monarch who never set foot here, never tasted a pasty, and could not have found Adelaide on a map without divine intervention. The lawns? Pleasant. The fountain? Serviceable. The atmosphere? Utterly dripping with imperial nostalgia. One half expects a man in a red coat to leap from the shrubbery and declare, ‘By order of the Crown, this bench is ours!’ Meanwhile, Kaurna heritage, which actually belongs here, is relegated to a polite footnote. Do yourself a favour: admire the architecture, snap a photo, then roll your eyes skyward at the absurdity of it all. Until the city shows some wit and restores the Kaurna name Tarntanyangga, this square remains less a landmark than a punchline. One star - for the fountain alone. The other four? Carried off by the Empire.
Guan Y — Google review
Very nice place to walk on a hot summer's night. Many events happen in this space so it can be different every week. At night the fountain looks great all lit up.
