What an amazing place! You'd fall in love with the concept if you are a massive board game fan. We were left in awe by their collection of games and also the kindness of the staff. Must try if you visit Lille. Edit after 2 years: Came in again after 2 years but this time for longer time. Nothing much has changed in terms of vibes but the food is expensive and not qualitative. You can get a lot better food for the same price outside.

Friendly staff and good food. There’s a huge selection of board games, and it costs only 5€ per person. Also, no need to worry about the instructions, there’s people in charge of explaining the game rules to each table. It gets packed in the weekend so it’s recommendable to make a reservation on their website. On top of that, it would be nice to have some of the food from the brunch menu for dinner.

Amazing concept of board games and bars. We spent 4 hours playing many games. The sommeliers of games, advise you , and help you to choose amongst 2000 games!

Great place for Brunch, I had the pancake tower, which was plentiful and tasty, the peanut smoothie to go with it was unusual in a good way. The place itself is large and welcoming and the staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't get the chance to stay for a game or two, but will definitely be back!

Has the potential to be an amazing bar but unfortunately the service was far below average. We were told we weren’t allowed to play our own card games because they offer games to play - they wanted to charge us €5pp to play our own game… staff came across very rude and unfriendly. Disappointing as looked really good from reviews!

Very difficult to find good vegan places in France compared to other European counties so this was a gem. Delicious penne and dessert was good, completely vegan. Service was a bit slow but it was busy.

I love love lovvvvvveeee they adopted street dogs that now are in the restaurant. And one pup is for adoption! The dogs don’t bother you whilst you’re eating. The gazpacho is super tasty. Slightly sweet, a bit of heat and very filling. My friends and I also had the sampler which we didn’t realise included the gazpacho too. Whilst the “hummus” amount was substantial, it wasn’t as tasteful as the “falafel” fritters. With a vegan aioli it was delicious!!

I loved the place! Food is absolutely delicious, especially the desserts! If you are guilty as charged when it comes sweets, this is the place for you! Staff was very nice and extremely polite. We were four people to dine there, and it was an amazing experience. We had a sweet potato soup for starter, and it could have been slighly more seasoned, but still very tasty. For main we had a typical French dish and a burger. The burger is one of the best burgers I've had in a very, very long time, and the parmentier was tasty as well, having a nice touch of thyme. The chocolate mousse for dessert was delicious and airy. They had extremely high-level local beer there, which I have been missing at vegan and vegetarian restaurants (not to talk about many restaurants like that not having alcohol at all). It was probably the best beer I've ever had at a vegan place. Marvellous! They did not have decaf, but they had something that was not coffee, that was without caffeine and tasted surprisingly similar, but I don't remember the name. The staff is incredibly friendly, smiling and welcoming. The place was packed, so they were very busy, but they still had time to take care of us and answer our questions. Last but not least, they have three dogs walking around inside, and they're just the cutest! This place is a must if you're in Lille!!

I had a great afternoon time here. Very comfy, chill and cute cafe shop! I love the interior and furnitures inside, they put a lot of efforts on the decoration. very cute table cloth and fun color of tableware. I barely speak French, the staff here is very warm and sweet so that I have no difficulty ordering food. The set of a sandwich, a dessert and a drink costs 15,50 euros which I think is very reasonable here. And don’t miss the restroom! Clean and cute decoration. I recommend this cozy shop for people who want to work or read outside. Enjoy your own time in a lovely cafe place

An excellent brunch! The salmon on the avocado toast was the most tender and flavorful I’ve ever had. The price-quality ratio is outstanding—it’s worth every penny. Be sure to book in advance, as they are (deservedly) very popular!

Fine, fine teas and very good bakery items in a casual and warm environment. Exceptional staff and service with attention to the enjoyment of their unique tea blends. Perfect for parties of two on up to family-sized groups. One of the most relaxing experiences in Lille. Bonus: they have decent wifi to share.

Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and spacious room. I ordered a red velvet cake, which was delicious! But the pumpkin spice latte was a bit disappointing. The bottom of the mug was all the syrup of a taste I did not enjoy. Overall, it’s a good place to chat with friends. I see people bringing laptops to discuss with their colleagues. But I don’t think it’s a cafe for work or studying. A bit noisy for people talking.

Brunch experience was absolutely lovely. Do make sure you reserve in advance because I think it's popular and gets filled up very fast on the weekends. Good variety of choices and you can taste the quality of the produce in their items! I especially appreciated the fresh pressed juices and the ice coffee was very clean tasting. Service was also very friendly and attentive. Overall, a good place to hang out with friends for brunch or even just for regular teatime.

Very nice to find some vegan options. No specific savory vegan bagels, but vegetarian ones to veganize removing cheese. Had a bagel with avocado, sweet mustard, crispy onions and red pesto. They have juices and also oat/soy milk for coffees. Three or four sweets as well. Very nice staff!

Service here was incredible. I loved my milkshake and I loved how friendly the staff were. It was presented so nicely and made a great start to our holiday on Friday. They have more seating upstairs but I was worried I would drop everything so I sat outside with my partner

Stopped off here for the night en route for a family holiday. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Staff welcoming and helpful. Car parking is convenient- you receive a code on check in- it may have been more convened to get this in advance rather than having to park on the street and check in first but this is a minor gripe. Hotel was easy to find, room was comfortable and had all we needed. Very happy with our stay.

Terrible noise coming off the nearby highway, rooms are tiny, so one’s confined to do everything while sitting on a bed. No kettle, no mini-fridge in the room, with two paper cups provided, one in a room and another one in a bathroom, so when you put your toothbrush in it tips to the sink as flimsy cup can’t support any weight. The floors are covered with linoleum mats, so it’s got a hospital vibe. On the final day of my stay there was no hot water in the shower so I was moved to another room so I could finish showering in there. The most hilarious thing in all that is that we paid €200 a night, I wouldn’t mind it if it was €70, but I suppose you could expect higher quality for that price. Breakfasts were ok, although trying to fry an egg on the electrical Tefal stove takes ages. The only aspect that was really good were the staff, friendly, apologetic and quick to offer help, I personally feel that they really try to make everyone feel welcomed and make their stays better in that below average place. I definitely won’t be coming back, but wish I could have a similar attentive attitude from hotel staff in other places that I stay at.

Perfect Hotel for a short stay in the nice City of Lille! Its close enough to walk to the City or take the Metro. The communication with the Hotel was easy and welcoming.

Only an hour from Dunkirk and way way better than the ones you have to stay there, so worth that hour drive before the ferry back home

We had a nice stay here. They have secure parking, you can't book ahead but there was plenty of space when we arrived. Dog friendly and they don't charge extra for dogs, that said the room rate for our night was quite a lot. The hotel is ideally located on the edge of the town, it's a very short walk to the cobbled streets and squares. Staff are friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious and the bed was comfy. We ate dinner at the hotel, there was only one vegan option for main but it was delicious and a generous serving, it was a layered vegetable compote. I would stay here again.

The XXL room we stayed in was impressively spacious — stylishly designed with modern touches, cozy bedding, and plenty of room to relax. The location is another huge plus, perfectly situated near the train station and the city center, making it easy to explore Lille on foot. The breakfast was also a highlight — fresh, plentiful, and full of variety, from pastries and fruit to hot dishes and great coffee. However, while the overall atmosphere was enjoyable, a few key issues made the stay less comfortable than it could have been. When the room experienced a blackout and power trip, the recovery process was disappointingly slow. It took quite some time before the issue was addressed, largely because there didn’t seem to be any technical staff on-site to handle it promptly. This was frustrating, especially given the level of service one would expect from a well-known hotel brand. The air conditioning was another letdown. It barely seemed to work, leaving the room uncomfortably warm and stuffy, particularly during the night. Even with the windows open, there wasn’t enough ventilation to cool the space down properly, which made sleeping difficult. Overall, Mama Shelter Lille has the potential to be an excellent stay — the design is modern and fun, the food is great, and the location couldn’t be better. But the lack of technical support and weak air conditioning really affected the comfort level. With a bit more attention to maintenance and faster problem-solving, it could easily go from good to great. As it stands, it’s a stylish and convenient hotel with charm — but one that still needs a bit more substance behind the style

Close to the train station and old town. Rooms were large. Would prefer if they had refillable amenities. Deco was ok and room was in good shape overall and not worn and torn. Not luxury, but worked well for a few nights of affordable accomodation. Everyone working at the hotel was super nice, so this property has a great team of people!

I’ll start with the pros. Unbeatable location. Close to the train station and old town. You can wheel your luggages there without breaking a sweat. The concept of the place is fun and hip. Very Gen Z. Super fun to experience their branding. Staff are friendly and helpful! Here come the cons that I wished I didn’t experience. 1) the ac is HARDLY cold. Or even cool. Made sleeping really hard because it’s cooler outside than being in your own room. Changed room once and experienced the same issue 2) lots of mosquitoes 🥲 I was bitten senseless both nights I was there. Sleeping was badly interrupted. Also because my room was so warm, the mossies feasted on me like a buffet. I wished they provided products that help with mossies because why is this a customer’s problem? Mosquito repellent should be provided 3) shower is has weak pressure. If you’re fussy about this, you’re not going to enjoy your showers. Period. This is a decent stay if you’re on a slight budget and is not fussed about the above mentioned.

Nice hotel for a night when en route in France. Found it a bit strange we had to pay 21 euro for parking. Rooms basic but clean. Walking distance to town. Good breakfast.

Service was really slow, 10 min to get the menu, 40 min just to order. Waitress didn't know how to serve red wine properly. Food was really good, was just expecting better service.

Edit: The management should spend as much time on serving her clients as she does on responding to Google reviews. I live locally to this place and the service is terrible!! The chef is not bad, so the food was worth returning for. We came back, we were seated and then ignored for 20 minutes. We asked multiple people working if we could place our order. Everyone said only the blonde woman at the bar could do that so we needed to wait for her. We waited and waited. When she finally came we expressed that we had waited a long time for her to come. Instead of apologizing she became very defensive that we weren’t the only people in the place and everyone had to wait. At that point we told her we were going to leave and she was very huffy about it all. Next time, just own up to your mistakes Madame. It’s better for everyone and makes you look less condescending and rude.

An utterly weak representation of Italian cuisine. To begin, the starter was a poor attempt at a Fritto Misto, instead of a light fluffy batter - the chef used a combination of bread crumbs and a heavy batter. The vegetables them self were not sliced thinly, but chopped in cubes instead. The main course would have been fine, had the sauce been mixed through the linguine, but instead I was confronted with a clump of plain linguine stuck together - not appetising at all! Both myself and my dinner companion left more than half of our main courses - the front of house to explained that this was because their cuisine was simply 'not to our tastes'. Next time, I'll stick to what I know to be great Italian food in Lille: La Bottega (8 bis Rue de Pétérinck) and La Tramontana ( 33 Rue d'Isly).

I visited Le Pain Quotidien recently, the café has a lovely, cozy atmosphere with warm lighting and comfortable seating — a great place to relax or catch up with friends. The staff were kind and attentive, and the service was quick and friendly, which definitely added to the positive vibe. That said, the food itself was visually appealing but quite average in taste. I tried the pancakes with yogurt and berry sauce, French toast with fresh fruit, and a simple breakfast plate with egg, bread, and butter — everything looked great on the plate, but flavor-wise, nothing stood out. It felt a bit underwhelming, especially considering the price point. The coffee and strawberry shake were decent, but again, nothing particularly memorable. If you’re going mainly for ambiance and a relaxed setting, it’s a nice spot. But if you’re looking for a food experience that’s flavorful or unique, you might find it a bit underwhelming. Overall, a pleasant place for a casual brunch, but more for the vibe and service than the food itself.

Le Pain Quotidien is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. My first experience was in Manhattan, so naturally I look for one every time I am in a new city. Luckily, Lille accommodated - perfect little spot and relaxed, slow service - exactly what you’d expect on vacation. For travelers learning French, the staff were very kind as I tried to order in French and felt comfortable asking for help with words I didn’t know.

I usually just pass through Lille on my travels, but this time we spent the night—and I’m so glad we did. In the morning, I was really craving that cozy, classic French “croissant and coffee” moment. I started walking through the city centre and stumbled upon this charming little spot. The pastries in the window looked so beautiful, I couldn’t help but walk in. I'm Polish, I don’t speak French (though I’ve tried—unsuccessfully!), but I was greeted by Frida, who spoke the most lovely English. She was incredibly kind and patient, and her warmth instantly put me at ease. It truly meant so much. I had a lot of anxiety about visiting France, but places like this made me feel genuinely welcome and safe—like I belonged. Frida gently let me know there was a small extra charge to sit in and made sure I was comfortable with that, which I really appreciated. I said yes and ordered an oat milk latte and a hibiscus croissant. She even gave me a little milk chocolate on the side. Everything was absolutely delicious—made with care, and you could feel it. Thank you again for such a warm welcome. Your kindness touched my heart and will stay with me for a long, long time.

We chose this place because it has clearly labelled vegan items on the menu. We were hoping for croissants but they were all out (we visited around 3:30pm). I ordered soup of the day and despite constantly checking with the staff that everything ordered was vegan, soup was served with dairy butter on the side, which was not reassuring. Furthermore, I expected the soup to be served with fresh sourdough bread and/or baguette, as the menu indicates. Instead, it came with a large handful of ‘homemade croutons’ which were unseasoned dry bread and tasted very stale. The serving staff were very friendly and patient but we were disappointed by the unclean tables and menu cards.

I ordered a salmon and tuna salad to take away. It was €15. It literally had €3 worth of ingredients (more like a cold side salad), and I waited for over 10 minutes. Very very disappointed. I won’t be coming back. The lady who served me was nice though.

It's very quiet today but the service is really bad. Was seated at a messy table. My friend is vegan and the server didn't know if any of the soups were vegan or not. I order the miso salmon and the bowl came without the salmon. And the toilets are very dirty and one of the doors don't lock properly. With the price your paying for mediocre food I feel you have at least good service.

Food was a disaster; eggs from powder, dry and COLD. Even though the butter was mentioned as a part of a breakfast set, I needed to ask for bringing it. The bread was dry and in the set they are not giving even the smallest leaf of salad. The avocado in the set of my friend was mostly unripe hence half of it uneatable. When I complained about the eggs, the writer seemed a bit irritated with me. I ate here 2 years before and was much better, now I will be eating next door where prices are the same, but food much better quality.

Slightly out of the city centre but really really worth the visit! Great music and decor, and the food was absolutely stunning and locally sourced. The host was super friendly and translated the French-only menu for us, explaining what each dish was. It was one of the best meals I've had in Lille! I can't recommend it enough!

What a restaurant! Anthony is warm, welcoming, and passionate about the food and wine. I highly recommend Pubstore to anyone looking for a great meal in Lille. On Anthony's recommendation, I had a beautiful lunch of smoked salmon with pancakes and eggs. I had a a tasting plate of dessert which was made up of 4 little desserts (all equally as delicious as each other) and an espresso. Will definitely be revisiting next time I am in Lille!

Wally's Coffee in Lille is a cozy and modern brunch spot. We tried the bacon and eggs toast, and the pancake with smoked salmon. Both were very tasty. The bacon and eggs toast had great flavors, and the smoked salmon pancake was fresh and satisfying. We also had a "crazy shake" with carrot cake on top. The shake was delicious, with a creamy base and a moist carrot cake slice. It's a must-try for anyone who loves sweet treats. The place is warm and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed meal. The ordering system is easy and quick, using QR codes to access the menu and place orders. This modern approach makes the dining experience smooth and efficient. Overall, Wally's Coffee is a great choice for delicious brunch options and unique drinks.

Best Brunch location I ever visited, artistic, unique and a very wide at thesame time well organized menu. I so loved the Banana Cake plus the pancakes 🥞. Infact I believe all they serve is great and will definitely recommend to anyone. It’s not an open buffet but it’s ideal for a calm Sunday afternoon brunch.

We were seated outside because "there were no seats inside". The food came out cold. It's also very expensive for what it is, almost 20 euros for a slice of bread with eggs. That said, if we were seated inside we probably would have had a better experience...

Always a nice place to have brunch with friends. The prices are not the cheapest but the quality and portions do compensate it. I’ve been here for brunch twice in the last 2 years and I can say they have consistency in the quality of the food. If there weren’t so many places I needed to try I’ll go back more often.

Very cool place for a breakfast/brunch, coffee and cakes! 🥪 We had a toast with scrambled eggs, mushrooms, onion and bacon. It was pretty nice and big. 🍰 Red velvet cake and brownie with hazelnut were both amazing. Texture was as it's supposed to be and the tast was on point. ☕️ Coffee was the only thing we did not like here. It was too bitter and with no specific taste. 🤵‍♂️🤵‍♀️ Waiters team was amazing. They were all delightful and made the atmosphere so nice. We had few of them serving our tables (taking order, serving coffee, serving food) and they were all super nice! 🏠 Place on it's own looks cool and has few levels with a lot of places to sit. 💲💳 What I found the most useful is the fact that you can pay through the qr code of your table. There is no need to call the service or wait, you just pay and say it at the exit so they can check and that's it.

Place was good. I was aksed if I had a reservation while I didn't. But it had no problem and I got a table. Food was good, kinda of a already ready menu. It was giving quickly. Coffee was good too. Inside design was so cool, stairs up, to place with natural lights. There is a shop aslo.

It was my first visit to France, and we discovered this cafe online. It had excellent reviews and offered "gluten-free options," which was exactly what my friend needed. The coffee was amazing; we had lattes and an extra treat ;) The barista brought us a sample of a new blend they source from Costa Rica. I really enjoyed the atmosphere; the music was great, and so were the treats! The highlight of the experience was the service from the two baristas. They were friendly and kind, and helped me perfect my French. It was horrible, but okay. ;)

Coffee Makers is a must go to if you visit Lille. I’ve tried their latte caramel, tigrou, chocolat au fountain, and tarte crumble fruit, and I was blown away. The quality and the taste of the pastry was simply delicious. The coffee was fresh and complimented the deserts well. The ambience of the place gave a heartwarming feeling and the staff were friendly and helpful, definitely recommend giving it a try!

It is a nice place to have breakfast. The scrambled egg was great! Also very good coffee. The menu options are not many, but they are very good and professionally made and presented. The service is friendly and nice. After they bring the food, they don’t ask whether you want sth else or you want to pay. We had to chase them, and eventually went inside to pay. If that is how it is supposed to be, it would be helpful if they communicated it.

We enjoyed the food and the portions were big, in the end, we couldn’t finish everything. It was very cold in the morning so we had to sit inside, it wasn’t very comfortable with the wooden floor. You can feel it when someone walks on it and it wasn’t very pleasant. We also think it was a quite pricy.

Food was delicious, we had the scrambled eggs and egg rolls. Great view of the cathedral if you sit outside. Although a bit slow (guess he was alone) service staff is friendly. The toilet really needs a touch up, not the cleanest, no paper, no urinoir.

I had been searching Lille for a decent coffee and most places were a let down. Then I found Paddo and had THE BEST latte ever! It was called a 'dirty' pistachio latte and it was divine. If you are looking for a place that makes good coffee - this is it. Friendly staff too.

A must! Great food - massive brunch portions. Visited twice during a short stay and would happily have gone more. Staff are great and welcoming. Worth going to Lille just to get food here. Only downside is that it closes at 5. Otherwise i would have had dinner here too.

Great location just along from the main square, but nice and quiet so we didn't feel rushed. There's more space upstairs but we sat on bench seats on the ground floor and shared 2 plates of the most delicious, freshly made pancakes with apples and caramel sauce, and red berries and maple syrup respectively, plus 2 fresh orange juices.
