Excellent place for book lovers, the decor of the square itself is so alazing , taking the book buying experience to a different level level. Several book stores in row selling books, posters , plates very amazing collection. The square also is very nice with metal structure in the middle making the place look cooler . Loved the idea of open air book shop . Have seen many antique shop but not exclusively book sale like this . Very unique experience not just for book lovers but for all .

The old stock exchange is one of the city’s major landmarks. You can browse books stalls and card vendors. The centre shows an art installation at the moment, a mirror sphere. The Flemish baroque architecture is bery charming. A place surely not to miss when visiting Lille. Enjoy!

I enjoyed my experience in la vieille bourse. It’s free for everyone to go in and it’s like a market for people to sell their old stuff like books and other gadgets and you can find so many old treasures there and prints to collect as souvenirs. It can get a little crowded there, but you can still tour the place without waiting outside as per my visit. It’s located right in the central Square of Lynn.

Stunning views of Lille. Very well organised, the bell tower only has capacity for 18 people at any one time so a wait is inevitable. The staff frequently address the queue updating with an approximate timeline. We were told one hour but it was closer to 30mins. On entrance at ground level you store your bags in a locker and climb a few flights of stairs where after paying in the small gift shop (just over 7€ with some concessions for under 18) you can climb the remaining flights or use the elevator (holds 4 people max) This was the worst experience for me - you can really appreciate how high this tower is when in a narrow lift shaft in a cage that keeps climbing upwards! Well worth it for the views and the information about the landmarks. We took the stairs down! We were in the tower all told about 90 minutes.

France, a country notorious among travelers for its challenging reputation, turned out to be far more charming than I expected. And for me, Lille had even more appeal than Paris. If I ever return to France, there’s no question I’ll be coming back to Lille.

Lille is a beautiful city. The buildings are so architecturally stunning. Plenty to see and do on our 3 days trip. Lots of restaurants and coffee, patisseries. Yummy. Our hotel Mercure grand place was extremely good value and breakfast fabulous. Will visit again when its maybe not so hot 🥵

Absolutely gorgeous! 🥰 Very lively during the day and mesmerising at night with all the beautiful illuminations. It reminded me of Brussels in a way. It’s definitely a must when in Lille. Plenty of restaurants and cafés in its surroundings.

Amazing and spacious square where you can admire several architectural beauties of lille. It can get crowded and there are beggars and homeless people around it, so watch out for your stuff, or help if possible.

Only had an hour in Lille before heading for the ferry at Calais so of course we headed straight for the Grand Place & the surrounding streets of the Vieux-Lille to look at the buildings & soak up some Lille vibes….& it was all positive apart from one thing - the stench of the sewers :/

The areas of the town squares are nice. There are many nice decorations around and some good stores where people can buy stuff. One thing I don't like is the fact that cars are allowed to operate within the pedestrian area, with no traffic lights and no signs. Really, man? Who's dumb idea was that? People who walk and cyclists can get hurt, especially children. This stupidity was abolished in 99% of the European cities I've visited, except for Lille. Seriously... Compared to Szeged, Charleroi, Novi Sad and Timișoara, which are superior cities, Lille sucks in that case. 👎 Those are a few examples. ☝️ I've visited many cities all across Europe and Asia. Naming all of them would take 100 days. I know Lille can become good. It really needs better laws and improvements. Other than that, I see good things too. The surroundings look nice. 👍

Fully bullshit! Every time I give this place a chance, hoping it will be fun, I face the same issues: no control over the number of people. It’s impossible to dance or even just stand. Everyone is pushing each other, trying to get somewhere. The staff is rude, shoving you around and creating even more chaos. There are some ‘important’ guests, and they literally push everyone else out of the way so they can get their comfortable spot. It’s completely unfair. And the prices are sky-high for such a low level of service and organization. Do yourself a favor — don’t go there. It’s not worth your time or money!

Nice small club, we went there on a tuesday so it wasnt full but there were still plenty of people. Good music, 2000s, 2010s, reggaeton. Would go there again

Trying to enjoy the night as tourists from a full day Olympic games in the city. This is the 1st place of 5 that refused us. Here the fat white security guy said no: only regular people and everything is full (they just openend). Mitoman only wants certain people inside, just like in all the party pictures. Lille is a disgrace for having a good night. Never coming back to the city of discrimination.

Just a warning for tourists as I have not seen this information elsewhere: do NOT wear shorts. We were refused to entry due to this which was very unfamiliar to us as in England the clubs have no dress code

The worst service that you can find in Lille. We went out for food and when we cane back the securities didn't allow us in. Eventhough we explained that we had a reservation, and the lady with us needed to use the washroom urgently, they didn't allow us to go in. At the same time, they did allow French people in without any argument. We felt that the securities are being racists. And this is not the first time we are facing this issue not being French. We had similar experience earlier when we were not allowed to enter the club not even once.

A lovely day out! Varied display of painting and historical items. The staff were nice. Free bag storage! Very reasonable price. Small café and gift shop available. The beautiful open spaces didn't feel crowded. My only note is there wasn't a translation for everything, so I might suggest using the audio or practicing your french🙂.

This museum was such a nice experience. First of all it is included in your city pass even the temporary exhibit. It was not too crowded to you could take your time and ease to check the art out that is displayed in a very clean and concise way. The temporary exhibit was such a delight to learn about the flemish culture. Absolutely recommended for lille visitors.

This museum is an absolute delight and a must-visit for anyone in the area. From the moment I stepped inside, the atmosphere was welcoming and the collection was impressive. As a first-time visitor, I can confidently say I'll be back. I had a wonderful experience during my visit, spending almost an hour exploring both the special exhibit and the rest of the museum. I was specifically keen on seeing "les Géants," and it certainly did not disappoint! The curation was phenomenal, and the scale and detail of the pieces truly lived up to the name. Importantly, the permanent exhibition also deserves high praise; the quality and depth I saw in the remaining time were fantastic. For first-time visitors, note that purchasing tickets at the museum itself is straightforward and easy. While my time was short, the hour spent exploring provided a fantastic, well-rounded first impression. Highly recommend making a trip to explore this gem!

Several great art pieces here. Some Picasso, Monet, and a Donatello carving that is quite incredible. My favorite part was this large collection of maps of French and Belgian cities in 3D miniature style that show the cities from a few centuries ago. My favorite statue was this skeleton holding a heart located at the top on one of the staircases. There was a cute cafe and gift shop.

An amazing place where modern touch of art meets the classical works of past masters. On three different floors you will see the region trough the different perspective to the modern era. Worth going and had a great time .

Amazing, peaceful place away from the hustle and bustle of Lille centre. It is worth a visit just to see the relief maps, you couldn't carry one about on the back shelf of your carriage in case you got lost, they are huge! The Egyptians were a unique race of people, one sign said they bred cats just to slaughter them to put in a sarcophagus for the journey to the afterlife. A flint tool is the oldest thing on show, 300,000 years old! I was unsure about visiting the place but I am so glad I made the effort.

This is a very interesting and niche museum. The collection spans paintings, exquisite sculpture, antiquities and in the basement a vast collection of huge contour maps of local towns which are fascinating to study. Our visit was rather marred by the clueless staff including a pompous security guard who insisted that the phone was placed face down on a side tray whilst you walked through the scanner and clueless ticket sellers who sell you a ticket and then refuse to refund when you find you cannot access any of the galleries due to there being protests being held in them. Fortunately, we waited and the galleries eventually reopened.

Probably one of the bigger craft beer pubs in Lille, with 20+ draft beers. Mainly French craft breweries, with a very nice variety of styles. Styles are marked with clear icons. You can ask for a small taster to sample if you prefer a beer. Prices are very fair. Cosy atmosphere, nice seating area at the bar or windows.

I love this bar! We've been to Lille twice and wouldn't miss a visit. Excellent, friendly service and superb beers, which are varied and well priced. Beer lovers will love this fab bar, we will 100% be back next time we are in Lille!

A nice place where the hosts know about their beer. Almost 24 beers on tap, it's one of the best draft beer places you can find in Lille and highly recommended to visit if you are into beer. It's unfortunate that tasting plate is not available on weekends; other than that..it's a cool place to have some nice craft beer with good options.

A nice place to visit! We went to the free exhibition. It was a bit too abstract for us, but still fun to see. After that we got a drink at the bar and sat on the covered terrace. Very relaxing!

Another great sort of third place. Lots of indoor and outdoor space. It seems you can use their barbecues and cook your own food which is cool. Many events also take place like dj sets. Great for people of all ages. Went twice in one weekend.

I visited the Gare Saint Sauveur specifically to see the exhibition "Afriques Capitales," curated by Simon Njami. The entire assemblage was excellent - with a deeply thought-provoking selection of recently created contemporary sculptures, paintings, photographs and installations, all addressing themes related to the complexities and precarities of urban life. Architecturally, Njami made very good use of the space, and the video installation by the artists MWANGI HUTTER (aka Ingrid Mwangi and Robert Hutter) shown in real time (with the appearance of slow motion and layered film montage) from inside the alcoves of the open railway carriages was both intriguing and highly sensual. I was also delighted to see the textile sculptures by internationally renowned artists such as Abdoulaye Konate and El Anatsui. Gare Saint Sauveur has an excellent restaurant, serving very good quality reasonably priced set lunches.

Visited during the last weekend of June during Lille 3000, most of the installations were aimed for children but entrance is free so no complaints there. The other wing is more for all-ages with some visual installations but generally not your top-tier artists' work. More for beginner artists to showcase . Ate lunch at the cafe as well as there are not many food options nearby, menu was actually above average quality and price wise.

Cyclists aren’t welcome. We came as a family with young children and weren’t allowed in as we had our bike helmets. Security made us turn around.

It's so difficult to internet search a good jazz club in France.Most clubs just post pictures of drinks, the bar, and food. I don't go to jazz clubs to eat. I want to see pictures of the stage, drum sets, and musicians performing. Why don't the French get this?

I had an amazing experience watching a fost opera at lille’s opera. Seating was very cheap, and it was so good. Loved the performance and the architecture of the building itself both from the inside, and from the outside the staff were very friendly, and there were so many staff to help you be guided to your seat. although my seat was cheap still, I could see clearly the stage

A stunning century old building, lovingly restored. The crowds fill the place so make sure to book tickets way in advance. It’s also a nice alternative for a night out from Brussels, as the train takes just 35 minutes to reach Lille.

What a fantastic town is this. For some reason people skip Lille on their way to their holiday destination. Please take the opportunity to stop and visit. The car park at the station brings you into the center within 10 walking minutes. Really a must see !!

I wouldn't recommend this place for people who feel uncomfortable around cigarettes. It's not a non-smoker friendly place, everyone has a cigarette in their hands. There is some lively music with some good food. 1€ is taken off your balance when you purchase a drink, but if/when you return the cup, you get the 1€ back. Outdoors and indoors seating.

The quality of the alcohol in the 'pre-prepared' cocktails is so low we were all sick with one glass. Please, have some respect for your costumers!

You can find very good cocktails at „bartown addict“. The bar is a really cozy and sweet place. I really would recommend that bar to my friends :)

Negroni was unique with special choice of bitters. Atmosphere and service were great. The ice in Negroni was not in one peace which was somehow suboptimal but the taste compensate it. I would definitely visit again.

Disgusting place. 0 over 0 in everything. I absolutely do not recommend it. When we arrived the club was empty and we grabbed cocktails and sat down at the table. After some time, a group of people came and began to communicate with us friendly, ordered champagne, after a while the waiter came up to us and asked us to leave this table ( which is absolutely absurd 😱) due to the fact that this table was reserved for this company, to which I told him that we came here first and it was empty and it wasn’t written here that this table was reserved and no one warned us about this. I decided to talk to the manager, explained the situation to her, to which she simply could not find anything to answer and began to say the same standard phrase “this table was reserved” in french, although initially she “could” have expressed herself in English. I decided to leave this awful place because my mood was ruined and I had no desire to be there any longer. This was blatantly terrible customer service, so I will never come here again and I don’t recommend it. By the way, the attitude towards foreigners here is simply disgusting and local people are so limited in their views that it’s simply deplorable...I simply regret I didn’t see so low points of it before I go there. Tried visiting this weekend - it’s often a laugh to go somewhere with poor reviews and see “how bad can it really be?”. You’ll have seen that most of the reviews mention the bouncers and rightfully so. They looked my group up and down and then denied entry. I can’t say for certain it’s racially driven, but neither can rule that out. My curiosity was not satiated that evening.

Racist bouncers who took our money but wouldn't let us in. Wouldn't come here if my life dependent on it. Would give zero of possible. Never had a worst experience in my life. Smelt like urine and fecal matter.

Very wonderful bakery shop / cafe like a creation of art. The displayed pastries were so perfectly arranged and looked delicious. The chandeliers, glass work enhanced the look of the boutique further. The open air garden cafe very nice , staff kind and polite , helpful. In the shop the goods are well displayed with price tags so easy to identify. The display shelves are so pretty and the colour combination very unique. Overall this is more like a pretty waffle or bakery museum and I loved my time here. I enjoyed vanilla waffle . Wanted to sit down in garden cafe so had also queued for the waiting line but it rained heavily suddenly so left in the middle and this time happy only with the wonderful waffle, will return next week or soon for a coffee and pastry .

How can this be anything but 5*? The pastries, the service, the setting, the shop, the history, everything is impeccable and the price point is reasonable. I think Meert may be a victim of its own reputation, as it is busy and people clearly expect perfection, but in our experience it lived up to it, and of all our culinary experiences in Lille this will be the one I remember forever.

The mille-feuille was absolutely delicious, and the éclair was good, but I didn’t really like the dark chocolate. I really enjoyed the waffle because it was unique and different from the usual. The atmosphere of the place was wonderful, and the best part was the excellent service. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it in time for lunch.

The food here was decent – both the main course and dessert were fine, but nothing particularly memorable. What really took away from the experience, though, was the attitude of one of the staff members, who came across as quite arrogant. I was hoping for a warmer, more inviting atmosphere, but everything felt a bit cold and flat. For the price point, I expected better service and a more enjoyable overall experience.

I found this place by mistake as I walking down town in Lille and decided to give it a try. I was alone and I tried the croquet maroilles, the poulet maroilles and a 500ml local beer. Firstly, the croquet maroilles was excellent. It was served with salad and it was exceptionally good (costed 7 euro). Secondly the chicken was good but not the best I tried. The sauce was a bit thin and had not a lot of flavour. The plate was served with fried potatoes which were tasty (costed 19.5 euro). Lastly, the beer was exceptional 😁. I must say that the hospitality and helpfulness of the personnel was beyond expectations and made the whole experience amazing. Very well done.

We made a reservation the day before. Everything was perfect. Food was amazing, so delicious and our waiter suggested a great wine and beer that matched perfectly with the food. Highly recommended!

Its a cosy restaurant which is located in a alley closed to Grand Place of Lille (not so far from Rihour metro station). There are seat outdoor and indoor (1st floor). The food is delicious, beer is good as well. Price is around 30euro/each person. But I wish restaurant make more bread instead of french frites. Otherwise, quick preparation of food and warm atmosphere.

This restaurant sits in a sort of building backyard, preceded by two others more economical places I'd say (judging from what it was served), so it was found almost because of a chance and - at the net of my experience - I wish I would have not found it at all. Firstly, it has to say that we arrived here only because we were after dining while eating the two popular Lille dishes: the carbonnade flamande (stewed meat) and waterzoï (boiled poultry in bouillon with cream). We couldn't find any of those on the first top 5 restaurants we visited on our path, and being already 8pm we decided to give it a go to this place, though the cost already put me on the warning condition. But I thought, ok these are local special mains, so they must somehow be with worth; hence we entered. At the entrance, the waiter indicates is the table number where we can sit. He said you can go upstairs, table 10. Every restaurant I've been so far, even the cheapest, has always seen waiters escorting us to the table, so this was already collecting its second negative point. Finally at the second floor, another waiter see us arriving, and when I said about the table, it let us accommodate next to a table close to the kitchen (which was having the door fully open because of the hot weather and the fact they could not keep their windows open), a fridge with cold drinks and the elevator used by guests (the space for passing between my chair and the lift was so reduced, that I wonder what would have happened if a person on a wheel chair was there). Anyway, the waiter comes with the blackboard with the daily selection, but we say we want those dishes. He suggests that they will take only five minutes to be prepared and whether we were ready to eat. We just say so and literally after seven minutes the mains arrive, clearly suggesting previously cooked food, which in fact was barely warm, tasty, but definitely not worth the money they sought. In serving the meal, part of my stew was poured on the underneath napkin; when it came the time of the wine, some drops went on the table, and the tea (served in a metal teapot you usually get in a second-hand style bar) was heavily dropped on the table. The dessert selection was almost okay, and the glasses of wines good, but this was very little to compensate the bill. Toilets are in the basement, where a second guest hall is located, with the gents with a door open and the hand wash basin in the main room somehow.

Fabulous spot on a backstreet - recommend the steak or carbonnade - a traditional Flemish stew with fries. Fabulous service and nice wines, too.

Every time I’m in Lille, I try to visit this place. I’m not religious or a believer at all, but I enjoy the sense of peace here. My favorite part is the front wall made of stone slabs, glowing with the sunlight streaming through. I love that Europeans are not afraid to blend modern elements into what is traditionally seen as timeless and unchanging.

I don’t think I’ve ever written a review for a church before but since I really enjoyed my visit, I’ll make an exception! I spent about 20 minutes inside. At the back of the church, there are explanations for each shrine about the art, paintings, and/or statues you can see, also available in English. The decorations in general are very nice. The exterior is original, and inside you can find the story of the church’s construction.

When i got to the church for a visit on a saturday noon, it was so crowded with people on their best clothes for mass. A nice sight to see locals with their religion. The church itself is nice with a mix of modern and gothic architecture and many arts displayed for the visitors to see.

I had the pleasure of visiting Notre-Dame-de-la-Treille Cathedral today, and it left me in awe. This cathedral is a stunning blend of history, art, and spirituality — from its contemporary exterior to the richly detailed interiors. A must visit if you're in Lille. Tickets are very cheap and the museum itself is great! Easily my favourite musuem of the ones we visited during our trip. Some really interesting history and beautiful rooms/ architecture.

We really liked this museum and how welcoming it was. Buying tickets was easy, and so very reasonably priced!! The main section was very interesting to look through, with plenty of information boards in each space. The guides were also helpful and friendly and explained what Lille 3000 was, so we'd better understand some of the exhibition. Some of the displays had very helpful digital info points that gave more information about items in the room, perfect for answering questions! Unfortunately the chapel was closed when we visited, but we enjoyed looking at the courtyard space with it's interesting Lille 3000 exhibition in!

I liked the architecture of the building itself. This place contains art that is not the normal ones that you usually see in museums around Paris with some more modern take on art there was a room with a projection that felt kind of a new idea and something interesting to see the location of the museum is very nice and it was included in my city pass.

We had a great time at this museum leaning about the French history during the 16th-18th centuries. The staff were very nice to us, even though the museum seemed small, it was definitely worth it and the price of €22 for 4 people. The history is super fun to read and see, especially their temporary exhibit that represents different mixes of feeling about the world and about the history back in the centuries. Their permanent exhibits that are in the main building are worth to see, with more interesting paintings and architecture. The dog at the end was pretty sick too, haha. Overall, it was definitely worth the visit in Lille for something to do!

With a 7 euro entrance, same as the Palais des Beaux Arts, this is a poor choice where we spent only around 30 mins with nothing much to see! A waste of money & time. Avoid at best, way over rated!

The museum about the nuns is extremely short and the lady welcoming you don't speak English so it was very difficult to ask questions or navigate. We expected to see some furnished rooms from an actual hospital but there were only not related paintings. The current temporary exhibition is not fitting at all, ruins the atmosphere and you are obligated to pay for it even if you don't care about it.

What an amazing place! You'd fall in love with the concept if you are a massive board game fan. We were left in awe by their collection of games and also the kindness of the staff. Must try if you visit Lille. Edit after 2 years: Came in again after 2 years but this time for longer time. Nothing much has changed in terms of vibes but the food is expensive and not qualitative. You can get a lot better food for the same price outside.

Friendly staff and good food. There’s a huge selection of board games, and it costs only 5€ per person. Also, no need to worry about the instructions, there’s people in charge of explaining the game rules to each table. It gets packed in the weekend so it’s recommendable to make a reservation on their website. On top of that, it would be nice to have some of the food from the brunch menu for dinner.

I was walking around Lille and I came across this church. I tend to go to churches everywhere I go. Churches are always peaceful and are such a change of pace from our busy lives. This church was really nice and quiet, with brilliant art everywhere. The architecture is really impressive, full of awe and wonder, it makes you think that there is something bigger than humanity. There was no queue, you can just walk in and walk around the church, as long as you're respectful, all is well. If you're in the Lille area, come to the Saint Maurice church, you will not be disappointed.

You'll find not only stained glass windows and statue of St. Maurice. There is a chapel dedicated to St. Barbara. The patron saint of gunners. Notable paintings by Van Oost, the younger. His work spans between 1668 to 1708 in Lille. The navel organ dates from 1882!

A great find! We had just watched Stage 1 of Tour de France and fancied a nice planche. Delicious mixed platter of cheese and charcuterie with pickles etc. We also chose a luscious Viognier to drink. They have a nice wine sélection from most french regions. We took the planche of the day at 25€ and dome extras a bottle of wine and the end we paid around 33/per person It's value for money comparing to other wine bars of the area.

Went here last night, 27th September, had a great evening, got recommended a perfect white that my wife loved and a red for me that was to die for. Spent the evening there and a was happy to pay for the service received. Went back tonight for more of the same, sat in the same seats at the bar, only to be rounded on by the most obnoxious and rude person I've met. Asked us where we were sitting, we said here and he said "absolutely not, I don't have people sitting at my bar (what are the 8 bar stools there for, you may think), all tables are booked, you'll have to leave." We literally left, whilst the other staff looked at their feet, I wouldn't pay your hard earned cash to such an unwelcoming owner / manager.

Prices slightly high but the drinks are good. You can sit there for a long time and no one will bother you. Cool ambience and friendly staff. Perfect for formal or informal occasions.

As a tourist in Lille for the week-end, I really liked this place. The crowd was nice, the bartender friendly and helpful when we asked him for directions to clubs, and the selection of cocktails, with or without alcohol (nice since we were driving later), is really good.

Place is very small and a lot of people wants to go so you end up ordering outside, where you can't dance or listen to the music. Cocktails were ok, very softened. Attention is very good.

We ended up here on a rainy Sunday evening and it was the perfect cozy place to relax after a weekend in Lille. The food was excellent; we had seafood and cheese boards and asked the friendly and knowledgable staff to recommend wine to go with them. Each of the selections were perfect, we ended up having 5 glasses each as we were enjoying it so much! The bill ended up a lot less than we expected too.

I don't know why this post has taken me so long. This is the BEST bakery in all of Clovis/Fresno, hands down! Their breads, cakes, and pastries are all amazing. They also have the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. I always buy some for friends and family and it's always a hit.

One of the best places to have a chat while enjoying a drink. Large choice of beers. (local and Belgian mostly) there is a nice atmosphere the barmaids are nice and benevolent,there are 4 inside rooms and there's also an inside small courtyard where you can smoke and have a chat or just unwind. You can often find live musicians playing different styles of music. And on the walls paintings or photographs for sale.

The place is small so do not expect a big table when you have a big group. There is no decoration and the music is so low that can completely forget about it. Sometimes it is a good thing though. Basically, this is a bar to drink some usual alcohol, that is all. And this is no cheaper so there are some better choices nearby.

The drinks are nice (mojitos are really really good !!), Not too expensive, the place is nice with rooms you can book and use for private events. You can even bring your own food. The crew is nice, the place is too, it's really a good place to be ! I recommend it!

We just missed the brunch menu concept of having a juice, coffee etc in 1. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Just a little slow with serving. Zoo de Lille is very good for the price! We were pleasantly surprised by a wide range of animals in the zoo. The attraction unfortunately at the moment is under renovation which I imagine will be complete by summer season (2025.) Despite the building work we still managed to spend well over an hour at the zoo. It’s worth noting this is not a whole day attraction and will only take you a few hours at most.

Fabulous small zoo with many birds and small mammals. Lots of space in the enclosures. Takes about 1 hour to walk round. Can wander amongst tropical birds so watch out for their deposits from above 🤭

A lovely, compact, well-kept zoo, ideal for families with small children. Suitably priced (as at 2025 it is €6 for adult and about €3 for children) as it is took about an hour and a half go through with a short stop for lunch. There are no large animals like elephants, rhinos, hippos, zebra etc. but a nice selection of smaller ones which were great to see - playful meerkats, sleepy warthogs and tapirs, porcupine, tortoise, an array of birds, red panda. The zoo was well-maintained, not an overload of signage, small amounts of information (name of the animal in English) and lots of clear spacious paths, a huge amount of greenery so it felt more like you were visiting animals in their natural habitats. Throughout the zoo they featured large glossy photos of their animals. No wait to enter in summer holidays. Free toilet access inside the zoo. Small lunch option (toasties and crepes, ice creams etc). A lift available for disabled visitors to access areas with steps. Good links via bus if preferring that to a walk from the heart of Lille. Outside the zoo there is a large play area and mini theme park so worth visiting this area with young ones!

We decided to try the regional plate, which allowed us to sample a little bit of everything, and I highly recommend it - it was delicious! *Assiette régionale - featuring specialties such as Carbonnade, Welsh au Maroilles, Croquette au Maroilles, and sliced Potjevleesch served with salad and fries). Best to make a reservation before you come as it can get quite crowded. Here you will find traditional Lille cuisine that you won’t find in other parts of France. It was recommended by a local friend. Food served is quite rustic, no frills but not cheap either. We ordered the what looked like a baked cheese flan tart to start that was incredibly delicious. My favourite was the beef slow cooked in beer that was so tender and soft… would have preferred mashed potatoes as it would have gone so well with the gravy but it came with a large portion of fries instead. The chicken baked in cream and cheese was a bit too rich but nonetheless quite delicious.

We went here for dinner on a Friday night. The venue is great. There’s a beautiful entrance that leads to the restaurant. We decided on the full experience. Basically a surprise menu with drinks. We had a great evening and the food is great. Some things weren’t as expected though. Although it was a full experience, a drink with the first and last course wasn’t included. That was an extra €50 we didn’t expect to spend when we booked as it was supposed to be a *full* experience. All other courses did come with a pairing. The drinks were mostly wine, except for one beer. I like beer, but this beer was pretty bad. Lastly we were a bit surprised that we had to share a small piece of meat as the main course. Overall we had a great evening out and this restaurant ended up being some great value for money. I would definitely recommend trying Bloempot at least once.

Incredible!!! This was a treat from the entry way down an unassuming alley to the rustic decor. The food was a surprise with each of the courses. Each was tantalizing and paired with the perfect non-slcoholic option (because we don't drink, but they had alcohol options as well). Everything was flavorful, locally sourced, organic, and perfect!!! We thoroughly loved it and would highly recommend!!!

Great restaurant with good service and an imaginative and interesting menu. The savoury courses were excellent but the sweet courses a little disappointing. The alcohol pairing was very different to the norm.

Fantastic surprise menu for €60 created using local ingredients. There’s an option to get alcoholic or non alcoholic pairings as well This was my favourite meal after 2 months of travel around Europe. The food was perfectly cooked and creative. Hats off to the chef! I highly recommend this place!

An excellent meal with an interesting progression! A very modern take on the local cuisine which is worth trying. On the night we visited they gladly fit us in despite being quite busy. The meal was a little slow (no problem for us) but each dish was well worth the wait.

Loved this place which serves quality & creative dishes, made with local products only. The staff was lovely and took the time to talk us through each course of the meal. The atmosphere was fancy but still cosy and warm (industrial design). You can expect to spend at least 2-3h there! Would definitely go back again someday

Unique, charming and cozy restaurant, starting with the little stone path to the entrance. Service was efficient and friendly, including the explanations of each dish. There was a bit of "sameness" in the first three courses - I really started craving something with more punch & presence. It came, thankfully in the chicken & merguez dish. All is all - the food experience was fine - not amazing - as indicated by us counting down the courses. The pairing was disappointing - I misread and thought that you could choose a wine pairing or a beer pairing. I didn't know it was a combo - but more beer in the bunch than I would have liked. I would recommend the experience to others, but I don't expect that I would go back myself.

We visited to enjoy a walk in a green space, and we weren't disappointed! Very easy to find with clear paths and plenty to see as you walk around. It was busy, but the space is so big it really didn't feel it. We just did a loop around the citadel building, but would have done more had we more time in Lille. Lots of wildlife to enjoy. We spotted two Herons! There were spaces to stop and rest, places to picnic and plenty of spaces for kids to play in various playground areas. Fab, free public space!

The old fortress monument in Lille during hunderous years and now becoming the military land. Actually it is a very good place for people to take the fresh air ! Sportive activities are highly recommend here.

Beautiful to walk around the garden but to be clear for any tourists, you cannot go inside. Apparently you can get a tour but it’s not every weekend / day and you must book in advance. There is a lot of garden to walk around so great for a stroll

First time visiting Lille and wanted to see the Citadel. Surrounding park is lovely, plus the small zoo. But we couldn't get into the heart of the Citadel - it's declared a Military zone and shut off tocthe public. Big let down.

Just a little (read: "lot") disappointed that we couldn't come inside and see more. The surroundings are great, however! A total esacapade from the city madness. The "organic landscaping service" gave me a huge chuckle. I think we stayed playing with the sheep the whole time there 🙂

The citadel itself is ok. The park is nice for a jog not really a walk as a loop around the citadel is at least 2 km with monotonous landscaping. There was also a cheesy funfair whilst i was there and lots of drunk but friendly people at night. Feels like an urban park/wooded area that's been through phases of neglect and care.

It was a real pleasure to eat at SOlange. A mix of traditional and modern inventive cooking, all very well executed. Great flavours and textures. Very good value for the price. Nice to see a restaurant that sells quality wines at very reasonable cost. Will certainly wish to book again when visiting Lille. Superb!

Small restaurant but their food is rich of flavour. Some fusion that you might not expect. I had the fish, and it was one of the best fish I had ever tried. So fresh, skin was crispy although they have creamy coconut sauce in it. My husband had the fillet mignon pork, it was also really tender and flavourful. Another place that I recommend if you are visiting Lille. The oeuf parfait was not the best, but main dishes were perfectly good. Their location is a bit far from the center, but you will not disappoint to take a bit road to this restaurant.

100 percent satisfaction!!! From service to food quality and taste !! Totally beyond Michelin recommend!! Strongly suggest you if you are traveling here in town !! Located very convenient with bus directly opposite of it ! I had the most unforgettable smoked grilled steak in my life !!! And the snails is superb !!! Desert is totally unbeatable!! Fair price and I am still keeping the flavor in my mouth even it’s 4 hours ago !!!! Perfect !!

Great small restaurant with Michelin brand. There are about 35 places to sit. Personnel is very kind and tells you everything about the meal you have on your plate.

Although the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the staff does make an effort, it is still not what you would expect from a raffiné restaurant. There are 2 choices of menu with 2 plates each, so you would expect it to be awesome, and it was tasteless and cold. The steak was half nerves. The lamb was half fat. Also, we asked for ice and salt, it took forever to come. When it came, The food was cold and the ice tasted moldy, which was weird.

The food was great! We had the 3-course menu including wine. The price-quality ratio was incredibly good. We even had an amuse before and after. The hostess was incredibly good and made us feel at home. Highly recommended!!

Everything I wanted in a fine french dining experience. 5 course with the wine pairing was well worth the cost, and left us all feeling well satisfied. Highly recommend any veal course du jour.

It is just one big and two smaller rooms but ok, it is worth to see. We parked at some nearby street for 14e - it is horrible! But entrance fee was just 11e for 2+2 family. It is cute... museum is full of interesting exponats. The most beautifull were ants and another live species... wc available, small coffe bar available but it was overcrowded. Overally good experience, kind staff, a lot of educational sites.

My kids who love nature (bug and animal) really enjoyed this place. We came to Lille because of this place;-) amazing. Cafeteria’s food quality was fantastic we didn’t need to find restaurant to go out of museum.

Less of a natural history museum, more hunting trophies collection. All plaques ect are in French, so not great for English speaking tourists. Well suited to French speaking children tho. Entry was cheap and venue was interesting enough for a quick walk through.

Small museum but plenty of things to see. Stuffed local and exotic animals, as well as living animals in terrariums. Minerals, dinosaurs, a few fossils, skeletons. Unfortunately there is no souvenir shop nor is there an option to buy food or drinks. Toilets available, nice and clean. Very recommended for children. Overall very nice experience.

Nice place to visit, the vivariums with live insects, spiders and millipedes are great. You could see really nice specimens of mimetic insects, like Stick bug and Leaf bug, Madagascar bugs, Crickets and many more. There are also a few dioramas with stuffed mammals, a huge collection of European and worldwide species of birds and a few groups of skeletons arranged in the comparative animal style. Despite the fact it is a small museum, it really worths to pay a visit. The lovers of old style-classic natural history museums will be delighted. Enjoy the visit!

It was a free day, but we had to wait about 40 minutes to get in. Bones, fossils, stuffed animals. The insects were alive, very rare and interesting! The children were very happy.

It’s a small natural history museum in Lille. Cheap to get in and I guess it’s ok for the prices. It’s full (and I mean full) of stuffed animals especially birds. So it depends how keen you are to see stuffed animals. My kids (12 and 10) quite liked it but note that there are no English translations so you’ll need to speak French to some extent or just not mind. On the bright side the cafe is really nice and the gift shop is good too. It’s worth it if you’ve an hour or so to kill but don’t make a special trip.

Visited the flea market on Thu 27/11/24 ( Tue, Thu and Sun 7 a.m till 1 p.m) have got some chestnuts and pomegranates from Spain this is considered one of my favorite flea market in France besides Paris with affordable price and good quality produces on the cover market open daily 8a.m-8p.m on Sunday open till 3 p.m Monday closed

Busy Sunday flea market selling anything from clothing to fruits and home decor. Very mixed quality of products, but generally inexpensive. Not a bad way to spend the morning if visiting Lille, as most things will be closed (till noon at least) in France. Grab a coffee and stroll through. ' All pedestrian zone so if you're driving recommend parking 2-3 blocks away , its a quick area to walk to.

Small markets with only very few stalls. Not recommend for tourists.

An interesting market with a lot going on and a lot to see. A little less exciting than say Victor Hugo in Toulouse, but very lively, especially the outdoor market.

We visited this market because it's said the biggest market in Europe, and one of the top five must-see spots in Lille, I can say it's Biggest disappointment of our experience in Lille. The market is big but totally unorganised and dirty, lots of miscellaneous stuff with low quality.

It smells so good this market. On can buy fresh vegetables and all kind of items one needs. People are warm and nice. In the covered market animals are not allowed. This small market is opened at due dates and times during the week. For the popular and large market, it happens twice a week.

A hidden gem of Lille. You can find anything you like for your groceries. Also you can order eat inside from the numerous restaurants (libanaise, japanese, thai, kebab, etc). There are also loooots of butchers that you could buy from, looooots of beers and loooooots of cheese you could taste. If you want to see the true Ch’ti style, visit the Halles de Wazemmes. Totally recommended even for just a quick coffee.

Although it is just a simple gate, i love walking in that area and admiring the architect and old historic symbol of this monument if you go very early in the morning, it will be empty, and you can take some nice pictures with the gate and the belfry in the background

🇫🇷“Porte de Paris” is an Arc de Triomphe built in the 17th century to commemorate Louis XIV conquering the city. 🇫🇷 Across the street from the Porte de Paris, there's something commonly seen in Belgium and north of France: a Belfry (bell towers), the word comes from the Middle English berfrey, a term for a wooden tower used in medieval times. 🇫🇷 People can climb to the top of the Belfry at 104 meters to get a panoramic view of the Lille , but we did not have enough time (that is my excuse anyway 😅)

Nice architecture. Sign on door are obsolete. Secretary upstairs didn't open door. Apparently, you can not visit the building... Beware of homeless leaving on the left side of the building, and strong smell of urine :-(

I love the atmosphere of this place! Dog friendly! But be prepared that it is not very healthy food, only for people who like pastries for breakfast. I had granola with fruits and honey. It was delicious, also liked the presentation.

We visited during the Braderie weekend from London, Coffee Makers was great as their reduced menu was still exciting. We decided to go for the cinnamon toast and ham, egg and cheese croissant. Both were tasty, but the cream that came with the cinnamon toast was subtle and tasty. The caramel latte was luscious too. It has a buzz and a lively atmosphere which is nice. The staff are friendly and helpful with their service.

It was my first visit to France, and we discovered this cafe online. It had excellent reviews and offered "gluten-free options," which was exactly what my friend needed. The coffee was amazing; we had lattes and an extra treat ;) The barista brought us a sample of a new blend they source from Costa Rica. I really enjoyed the atmosphere; the music was great, and so were the treats! The highlight of the experience was the service from the two baristas. They were friendly and kind, and helped me perfect my French. It was horrible, but okay. ;)

Love this place! Everything is tasty here, especially the pastries and cakes. Tried 4 different ones in 2 days, all tasted amazing. Coffee is really good too! Would definitely come here again when I revisit Lille!

Coffee Makers is a must go to if you visit Lille. I’ve tried their latte caramel, tigrou, chocolat au fountain, and tarte crumble fruit, and I was blown away. The quality and the taste of the pastry was simply delicious. The coffee was fresh and complimented the deserts well. The ambience of the place gave a heartwarming feeling and the staff were friendly and helpful, definitely recommend giving it a try!

The Pom Pom Pompidou exhibition at Le Tripostal (until Nov 9th, 2025) is a fabulous journey through modern art. Including Man Ray, Dechamps, Eliasson and movements like Dada and Fluxus.

We loved our visit to Pom Pom Pidou at Le Tripostal in Lille. The exhibition over 3 floors was a well thought out journey through the development of modern art. We spent 1.5 hours enjoying the exhibits and thought it wax 12 € well spent.

Loved all the exhibitions I’ve seen there. Great curatorial work and nice place itself.

Contemporary art gallery but not a huge collection, for the ticket price at 18EURO pp, there are better options IMHO. There are 3 floors but the current exhibits are mediocre, nothing stands out and you can breeze through it in 30-45 minutes. Only visit if you are running out of things to do in Lille, otherwise I would pass.

Wonderful arts venue. Highly recommended, particularly the Pom Pom Pidou exhibition at the moment.

Very beautiful garden. Lots of places to sit. Lovely flowers and some wonderful paths to walk along. Worth a visit if you are in the area. It's right next to the zoo, so a perfect spot to stop and have a sit/your lunch if in the area.

Nice and quiet city park. Small waterfall and different short passages for you to cross over the water are both worth taking a look if you have time on your hand. However, I feel like the garden could be better maintained.

It was a really a cool experience. Went out when It was warm and sunny on the day after Easter. They had a circus at the park next to us. But all the college students where out at the park just chilling and laying in the sun. Drinking beer enjoying the day. Played a little football saw some guys playing soccer. Really was a cool day!

Nice scenery and walking and bike paths. The citadel has apparently been closed off for over a decade now though.

I came here for the LEJ concert in September 09. I had the international covid passport with me and the security was about to not let me in because it wasn’t the digital version. I think there should be more awareness and more politeness coming from someone who is supposed to check the certificates. Besides that the theater was beautiful and the concert superb.

This is the center square of lille. Plenty of restaurants and shops around. All of vieux lille is a walking distance from this square. Parking is hastle: take the subway.

Lille is a" must visit city". Old Lille is full of charm. People are very nice, they speak English no problem. Lots of good chocolate, waffles shop and bars. You really feel you are in Europe. Lots English people, Dutch, Belgium. Great atmosphere. From Paris by coach 2 to 3 hours really cheap and comfortable. I recommend
