La Vieille Bourse in Lille, France is a remarkable Renaissance-era stock exchange building that holds great historical significance. It was once the center of commercial and financial activities in the city, showcasing its prosperous trading history. The building consists of 24 identical houses surrounding a courtyard, which serves as a focal point for various city events and gatherings. Its ornate architecture and gold Mercury statue on the campanile add to its grandeur.
A really beautiful building, both inside and out. We were lucky to visit on a Sunday morning and came across a second-hand and art bazaar filled with posters, books, and prints—it was such a lovely surprise!

Excellent place for book lovers, the decor of the square itself is so alazing , taking the book buying experience to a different level level. Several book stores in row selling books, posters , plates very amazing collection. The square also is very nice with metal structure in the middle making the place look cooler . Loved the idea of open air book shop . Have seen many antique shop but not exclusively book sale like this . Very unique experience not just for book lovers but for all .

The old stock exchange is one of the city’s major landmarks. You can browse books stalls and card vendors. The centre shows an art installation at the moment, a mirror sphere. The Flemish baroque architecture is bery charming. A place surely not to miss when visiting Lille. Enjoy!

Amazing architecture Mist visit place in lille You can see the complete lille from the top of the tower. 7euros ticket ,(in bulk it's 6) 150 steps to start , then you can choose steps to continue or take an elevator. On top open space space with cool breeze will mesmerize for sure. Even sovenior shop in the middle has a good collection. Never miss this place
Vinay M — Google review
I enjoyed my experience in la vieille bourse. It’s free for everyone to go in and it’s like a market for people to sell their old stuff like books and other gadgets and you can find so many old treasures there and prints to collect as souvenirs. It can get a little crowded there, but you can still tour the place without waiting outside as per my visit. It’s located right in the central Square of Lynn.
Mike A — Google review
Stunning views of Lille. Very well organised, the bell tower only has capacity for 18 people at any one time so a wait is inevitable. The staff frequently address the queue updating with an approximate timeline. We were told one hour but it was closer to 30mins. On entrance at ground level you store your bags in a locker and climb a few flights of stairs where after paying in the small gift shop (just over 7€ with some concessions for under 18) you can climb the remaining flights or use the elevator (holds 4 people max) This was the worst experience for me - you can really appreciate how high this tower is when in a narrow lift shaft in a cage that keeps climbing upwards! Well worth it for the views and the information about the landmarks. We took the stairs down! We were in the tower all told about 90 minutes.

Art museum
The Palais des Beaux Arts in Lille is housed in a magnificent Belle Epoque building from 1892 and boasts an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures, and drawings spanning from ancient times to the 21st century.
One of France's finest art museums outside Paris! Impressive range from Flemish masters to modern works. The building itself is gorgeous and the displays are well-curated. Don't miss the sculpture gallery and decorative arts sections. The biggest highlight is the massive reliefs in the basement. Perfect for art lovers and easily accessible in the city center. Allow at least 2-3 hours to do it justice!

A lovely day out! Varied display of painting and historical items. The staff were nice. Free bag storage! Very reasonable price. Small café and gift shop available. The beautiful open spaces didn't feel crowded. My only note is there wasn't a translation for everything, so I might suggest using the audio or practicing your french🙂.
Robyn — Google review
This museum was such a nice experience. First of all it is included in your city pass even the temporary exhibit. It was not too crowded to you could take your time and ease to check the art out that is displayed in a very clean and concise way. The temporary exhibit was such a delight to learn about the flemish culture. Absolutely recommended for lille visitors.
Mike A — Google review
This museum is an absolute delight and a must-visit for anyone in the area. From the moment I stepped inside, the atmosphere was welcoming and the collection was impressive. As a first-time visitor, I can confidently say I'll be back. I had a wonderful experience during my visit, spending almost an hour exploring both the special exhibit and the rest of the museum. I was specifically keen on seeing "les Géants," and it certainly did not disappoint! The curation was phenomenal, and the scale and detail of the pieces truly lived up to the name. Importantly, the permanent exhibition also deserves high praise; the quality and depth I saw in the remaining time were fantastic. For first-time visitors, note that purchasing tickets at the museum itself is straightforward and easy. While my time was short, the hour spent exploring provided a fantastic, well-rounded first impression. Highly recommend making a trip to explore this gem!

Several great art pieces here. Some Picasso, Monet, and a Donatello carving that is quite incredible. My favorite part was this large collection of maps of French and Belgian cities in 3D miniature style that show the cities from a few centuries ago. My favorite statue was this skeleton holding a heart located at the top on one of the staircases. There was a cute cafe and gift shop.
Renée R — Google review
An amazing place where modern touch of art meets the classical works of past masters. On three different floors you will see the region trough the different perspective to the modern era. Worth going and had a great time .
Bartosz S — Google review
Amazing, peaceful place away from the hustle and bustle of Lille centre. It is worth a visit just to see the relief maps, you couldn't carry one about on the back shelf of your carriage in case you got lost, they are huge! The Egyptians were a unique race of people, one sign said they bred cats just to slaughter them to put in a sarcophagus for the journey to the afterlife. A flint tool is the oldest thing on show, 300,000 years old! I was unsure about visiting the place but I am so glad I made the effort.
Mike — Google review
Not that there is anything wrong with Lille, it is a lovely city to visit. But adding to the ambiance of Lille one also comes across one of the great art galleries in Europe, the palais de beaux arts. Their selection of 19th century works is just a pleasure to see, each one a master by a master.

The Porte de Paris is a grand arch monument in Lille, built in the 17th century to commemorate Louis XVI's capture of the city. It was part of the fortified walls constructed after Louis XIV captured Lille, and it remains one of the few remaining gates from that time. Designed by renowned architect Simon Vollant, this monumental gate features baroque angels at the top celebrating victory with copper trumpets, as well as sculptures of Mars and Hercules symbolizing war and strength.
Porte de Paris built in 1690 to celebrate Louis XIV victory over Lille. Spectacular military architecture. Worth the short walk from city center.

Although it is just a simple gate, i love walking in that area and admiring the architect and old historic symbol of this monument if you go very early in the morning, it will be empty, and you can take some nice pictures with the gate and the belfry in the background

🇫🇷“Porte de Paris” is an Arc de Triomphe built in the 17th century to commemorate Louis XIV conquering the city. 🇫🇷 Across the street from the Porte de Paris, there's something commonly seen in Belgium and north of France: a Belfry (bell towers), the word comes from the Middle English berfrey, a term for a wooden tower used in medieval times. 🇫🇷 People can climb to the top of the Belfry at 104 meters to get a panoramic view of the Lille , but we did not have enough time (that is my excuse anyway 😅)

Pont Napoléon is a majestic and elegant footbridge spanning the Deule river, connecting Allee des Marronniers to Champ de Mars in Lille. Destroyed twice during the world wars, it was finally reconstructed in 2014 and stands as the only covered pedestrian bridge in France. Visitors can enjoy its antique charm and picturesque views, making it a perfect spot for capturing timeless photos. The bridge offers a peaceful atmosphere, especially during the evening when it is well-lit.
My favourite part of my visit to Lille was sitting by the benches at this bridge in the evening. It's very peaceful and well lit at night. The bridge itself, like many of the other historic buildings and sculptures in the area are very attractive and interesting. Great place.

Cathedral
Churches & Cathedrals
Notre-Dame-de-la-Treille Cathedral in Lille is a 19th-century Gothic revival structure dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Construction began in 1854 but was only completed in 1999, with a unique main facade designed by local architect Pierre-Louis Carlier and engineer Peter Rice. The cathedral houses a crypt and a sacred art museum featuring works by artists such as Warhol and Baselitz.
We visited the cathedral on Sunday. From the outside, it appeared rather unimpressive, with a heavy, grey architectural style. But once inside, it was stunning—especially the vibrant stained glass windows and the beautifully crafted sculptures.
Laura V — Google review
Every time I’m in Lille, I try to visit this place. I’m not religious or a believer at all, but I enjoy the sense of peace here. My favorite part is the front wall made of stone slabs, glowing with the sunlight streaming through. I love that Europeans are not afraid to blend modern elements into what is traditionally seen as timeless and unchanging.
Maxim B — Google review
I don’t think I’ve ever written a review for a church before but since I really enjoyed my visit, I’ll make an exception! I spent about 20 minutes inside. At the back of the church, there are explanations for each shrine about the art, paintings, and/or statues you can see, also available in English. The decorations in general are very nice. The exterior is original, and inside you can find the story of the church’s construction.
N V — Google review
When i got to the church for a visit on a saturday noon, it was so crowded with people on their best clothes for mass. A nice sight to see locals with their religion. The church itself is nice with a mix of modern and gothic architecture and many arts displayed for the visitors to see.
Mike A — Google review
I had the pleasure of visiting Notre-Dame-de-la-Treille Cathedral today, and it left me in awe. This cathedral is a stunning blend of history, art, and spirituality — from its contemporary exterior to the richly detailed interiors. The stained-glass windows are absolutely breathtaking, filling the space with color and light in a way that feels both majestic and intimate. Each chapel is beautifully preserved, with intricate altars, ornate mosaics, and artwork that tells centuries of stories. One of the highlights was the altar under the towering stained glass panels, glowing softly with red votive lights — a sacred and serene corner that invites you to pause and reflect. I also appreciated the scale model of the cathedral displayed inside, which offered a fascinating look into the architectural vision and construction history. The mix of Gothic and modern design throughout the cathedral makes it truly unique — especially the bold, minimalist main altar contrasted against the more traditional chapels. Whether you’re interested in architecture, religion, or simply want a quiet, inspiring place to explore in Lille, Notre-Dame-de-la-Treille is a must-visit. It’s a space where past and present coexist beautifully — peaceful, grand, and full of wonder.
Harshini K — Google review
Construction of this historic cathedral began in 1854 and took over a century to complete. Visiting it was a moving experience that truly inspired a sense of reverence.
Jinn K — Google review
Expect a 30 to 45 minute wait if you don't get tickets ahead of the visit. What can I say it's Notre Dame
Bert G — Google review
What a beautiful church in the heart of the city center. The main entrance is up a flight of steps. You're immediately drawn to the backlit alabaster and round stained glass windows.

It features a blend of modern sculptures, wild nature, and greenery such as bamboo, flowers, ponds, giant heads, iron cages, and vertical gardens. This lesser-known but original park is perfect for Instagram-worthy photos. The garden also boasts whimsical art installations including giant animal and insect sculptures.

Nestled in the heart of Lille, the Grand Place, also known as Place Charles de Gaulle, is a stunning central square that showcases the city's rich history and architectural beauty. This expansive area is lined with charming terrace restaurants and features remarkable structures like the ornate Vieille Bourse and the historic Theatre du Nord. The square's centerpiece is the elegant fountain dedicated to La Deesse, a goddess commemorating Lille's resilience during its 1792 siege.
Large, open square in the centre of Lille. Monument and fountain in the centre, some beautiful buildings facing into it along with lots of shops, restaurants and bars. Popular place to sit and watch the world go by.

France, a country notorious among travelers for its challenging reputation, turned out to be far more charming than I expected. And for me, Lille had even more appeal than Paris. If I ever return to France, there’s no question I’ll be coming back to Lille.

Lille is a beautiful city. The buildings are so architecturally stunning. Plenty to see and do on our 3 days trip. Lots of restaurants and coffee, patisseries. Yummy. Our hotel Mercure grand place was extremely good value and breakfast fabulous. Will visit again when its maybe not so hot 🥵

The beautiful city of lille. Well worth a visit just for the architecture alone. Stunning and great to see a strong police presence
Chris C — Google review
Only had an hour in Lille before heading for the ferry at Calais so of course we headed straight for the Grand Place & the surrounding streets of the Vieux-Lille to look at the buildings & soak up some Lille vibes….& it was all positive apart from one thing - the stench of the sewers :/
Toxteth G — Google review
The areas of the town squares are nice. There are many nice decorations around and some good stores where people can buy stuff. One thing I don't like is the fact that cars are allowed to operate within the pedestrian area, with no traffic lights and no signs. Really, man? Who's dumb idea was that? People who walk and cyclists can get hurt, especially children. This stupidity was abolished in 99% of the European cities I've visited, except for Lille. Seriously... Compared to Szeged, Charleroi, Novi Sad and Timișoara, which are superior cities, Lille sucks in that case. 👎 Those are a few examples. ☝️ I've visited many cities all across Europe and Asia. Naming all of them would take 100 days. I know Lille can become good. It really needs better laws and improvements. Other than that, I see good things too. The surroundings look nice. 👍

MEERT, located in Roubaix, France, has a rich history dating back to 1849. The famous waffles from Meert have a long tradition and were even supplied to the royal family in nearby Belgium for a while. The shop on Rue Esquermoise not only offers delicious waffles but also houses a historic tearoom and a restaurant. Visitors can enjoy the delightful experience of tasting these renowned delicacies with a fascinating historical background.
We had to queue for about 20 minutes, but it is a lovely tea room and all the cakes looked amazing! I opted for hot chocolate & their famous filled waffles which were really good! I went back the next day and got some to take home! The vanilla one reminded me of a custard cream biscuit! I do wish I tried one of their cakes too!

Great place for photography. Ok stroopwaffles, nice location Méert Lille is pure old-world elegance — a place where history, craftsmanship, and indulgence come together beautifully. Stepping inside feels like entering a living postcard from another era, with its ornate interiors, charming service, and irresistible aroma of freshly baked treats. The signature gaufres (waffles) are ok… The pâtisseries and chocolates are equally ok…, each one crafted with remarkable finesse and balance. Pair them with a perfectly brewed coffee or tea, and it’s an experience that lingers long after you leave. Whether you’re here for a quiet afternoon indulgence or to pick up a beautiful gift box, Méert captures the timeless art of French sweetness. An iconic Lille institution — elegant, delicious, and unforgettable.

Very wonderful bakery shop / cafe like a creation of art. The displayed pastries were so perfectly arranged and looked delicious. The chandeliers, glass work enhanced the look of the boutique further. The open air garden cafe very nice , staff kind and polite , helpful. In the shop the goods are well displayed with price tags so easy to identify. The display shelves are so pretty and the colour combination very unique. Overall this is more like a pretty waffle or bakery museum and I loved my time here. I enjoyed vanilla waffle . Wanted to sit down in garden cafe so had also queued for the waiting line but it rained heavily suddenly so left in the middle and this time happy only with the wonderful waffle, will return next week or soon for a coffee and pastry .

A true jewel in the heart of Lille! Meert is as much about the atmosphere as it is about the sweets. The interiors are simply breathtaking—opulent chandeliers, historic wooden decor, classical sculptures, and ornate ceilings that transport you to another era. Whether you’re seated inside the regal tea salon or strolling through their boutique, the ambiance is a visual feast. I tried the coffee and their signature vanilla and raspberry-filled waffles—a delightful treat that lives up to its reputation. The coffee was beautifully presented and smooth, and the raspberry waffle had just the right balance of tart and sweet. Perfect for a special outing or if you’re looking to indulge in a bit of old-world French charm. A must-visit if you’re in Lille.✨
Harshini K — Google review
How can this be anything but 5*? The pastries, the service, the setting, the shop, the history, everything is impeccable and the price point is reasonable. I think Meert may be a victim of its own reputation, as it is busy and people clearly expect perfection, but in our experience it lived up to it, and of all our culinary experiences in Lille this will be the one I remember forever.
Geoffrey B — Google review
The mille-feuille was absolutely delicious, and the éclair was good, but I didn’t really like the dark chocolate. I really enjoyed the waffle because it was unique and different from the usual. The atmosphere of the place was wonderful, and the best part was the excellent service. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it in time for lunch.
Mohammad S — Google review
The food here was decent – both the main course and dessert were fine, but nothing particularly memorable. What really took away from the experience, though, was the attitude of one of the staff members, who came across as quite arrogant. I was hoping for a warmer, more inviting atmosphere, but everything felt a bit cold and flat. For the price point, I expected better service and a more enjoyable overall experience.

Nestled in the heart of Lille, Église Saint-Maurice de Lille is a stunning Gothic church that boasts an impressive history dating back to the 11th century. This architectural gem took over four centuries to complete, with its construction spanning from the 14th to the 19th century. Originally built on the site of a Roman temple dedicated to Mars, it has undergone numerous restorations and expansions throughout its long existence.
A breathtaking piece of Gothic architecture nestled in the heart of Lille. Église Saint-Maurice immediately draws you in with its towering spires and intricate stonework. Stepping inside, you’re greeted by a peaceful, almost timeless atmosphere — the kind that invites quiet reflection no matter how bustling the city is outside. The stained glass windows are stunning, especially when sunlight streams through and colors the interior in a soft, spiritual glow. Every detail — from the arches to the altars — speaks to centuries of craftsmanship and devotion. You don’t need to be religious to appreciate the serenity and historical depth this church offers. It’s free to enter, which makes it a must-visit whether you’re exploring Lille for the day or just wandering the old town. Great spot to slow down, take in the silence, and feel the weight of history. A hidden gem for lovers of architecture, culture, and calm.
Harshini K — Google review
Wonderfully decorated church, one of the best in Lille. They have candlelight performances every once in a while, on Fridays. We enjoyed our visit although seats are quite uncomfortable.
Filip B — Google review
There is too much built up around the church to enjoy its view and grandeur Église Saint-Maurice de Lille is a beautiful historic church with remarkable architecture and a rich history, but unfortunately, its grandeur is somewhat lost due to the dense urban surroundings. The streets and buildings built up around it make it difficult to fully appreciate the scale and elegance of the structure from a distance. Inside, the church still retains its charm, with intricate details, stained glass, and a serene atmosphere that hints at its former glory. While the interior is worth visiting for architecture and history enthusiasts, the exterior views don’t quite do justice to what must have originally been a striking landmark. A hidden gem somewhat overshadowed by the modern cityscape.
Rodney L — Google review
I was walking around Lille and I came across this church. I tend to go to churches everywhere I go. Churches are always peaceful and are such a change of pace from our busy lives. This church was really nice and quiet, with brilliant art everywhere. The architecture is really impressive, full of awe and wonder, it makes you think that there is something bigger than humanity. There was no queue, you can just walk in and walk around the church, as long as you're respectful, all is well. If you're in the Lille area, come to the Saint Maurice church, you will not be disappointed.

Église Saint-Maurice de Lille is a magnificent example of Gothic architecture nestled in the heart of Lille. This historic Catholic church impresses visitors with its soaring spires, intricate stone carvings, and stunning stained-glass windows that fill the interior with colorful light. Stepping inside, you’re greeted by a serene and majestic atmosphere, perfect for quiet reflection or appreciating centuries-old craftsmanship. The church’s spacious nave, detailed altars, and beautiful frescoes showcase the rich religious and artistic heritage of the region. Église Saint-Maurice also plays an active role in the local community, hosting regular services and cultural events that add to its vibrant presence in the city. Its central location makes it easily accessible and a peaceful retreat amid Lille’s bustling streets. For those interested in history, architecture, or spirituality, Église Saint-Maurice de Lille offers a meaningful and memorable experience. It’s a must-visit landmark that beautifully combines faith, art, and history in one impressive package.

You'll find not only stained glass windows and statue of St. Maurice. There is a chapel dedicated to St. Barbara. The patron saint of gunners. Notable paintings by Van Oost, the younger. His work spans between 1668 to 1708 in Lille. The navel organ dates from 1882!

The Citadel of Lille, situated in the northern French city of Lille, is a remarkable 17th-century fortress designed by the renowned military engineer Sebastien Le Prestre de Vauban. Often referred to as the 'Queen of Citadels,' it boasts a star-shaped layout that provided innovative defensive capabilities against artillery attacks. This historic site offers monthly guided tours and is surrounded by a scenic public park.
Me and my boyfriend had a nice long walk along the path around Citadelle de Lille. The place is so big that we both agree that it takes the second time visit to finish exploring everything. You can see trees everywhere and it is beautiful. I highly recommend if you want a long nice walk. I am not sure about pinic here because I do not see anyone doing so. However, I could see it is a perfect place for bikers, hikers and runners. We had a lot of fun taking our time admiring the beautiful nature, there were a lot of place to rest along the way if you get tired.

We visited to enjoy a walk in a green space, and we weren't disappointed! Very easy to find with clear paths and plenty to see as you walk around. It was busy, but the space is so big it really didn't feel it. We just did a loop around the citadel building, but would have done more had we more time in Lille. Lots of wildlife to enjoy. We spotted two Herons! There were spaces to stop and rest, places to picnic and plenty of spaces for kids to play in various playground areas. Fab, free public space!

First time visiting Lille and wanted to see the Citadel. Surrounding park is lovely, plus the small zoo. But we couldn't get into the heart of the Citadel - it's declared a Military zone and shut off tocthe public. Big let down.
Mark M — Google review
Just a little (read: "lot") disappointed that we couldn't come inside and see more. The surroundings are great, however! A total esacapade from the city madness. The "organic landscaping service" gave me a huge chuckle. I think we stayed playing with the sheep the whole time there 🙂

I was so disappointed when I found out that this place were closed for the public 😳 It’s worth to discover the green public areas around this place ☀️
Mark L — Google review
The citadel itself is ok. The park is nice for a jog not really a walk as a loop around the citadel is at least 2 km with monotonous landscaping. There was also a cheesy funfair whilst i was there and lots of drunk but friendly people at night. Feels like an urban park/wooded area that's been through phases of neglect and care.

Musee de l'Hospice Comtesse, situated in Lille, France, is a museum housed in a historic hospice dating back to the 15th-18th centuries. Originally founded by Countess Jeanne of Flanders in 1237, this architectural marvel showcases a mix of medieval, Renaissance, and classical styles.
Initially establish and built in 1236 under the Countess of Flanders, it was a hospice for centuries and was run by the Augustinian Sisters for 500 years. In more recent times, soldiers from the French Revolution were treated here. Now a museum of the history and decorative arts of Lille housing furniture, Flemish paintings, carved wood, ceramics, goldwork and tapestries. In town center and definitely worth a visit.

A must visit if you're in Lille. Tickets are very cheap and the museum itself is great! Easily my favourite musuem of the ones we visited during our trip. Some really interesting history and beautiful rooms/ architecture.
Sophie S — Google review
We really liked this museum and how welcoming it was. Buying tickets was easy, and so very reasonably priced!! The main section was very interesting to look through, with plenty of information boards in each space. The guides were also helpful and friendly and explained what Lille 3000 was, so we'd better understand some of the exhibition. Some of the displays had very helpful digital info points that gave more information about items in the room, perfect for answering questions! Unfortunately the chapel was closed when we visited, but we enjoyed looking at the courtyard space with it's interesting Lille 3000 exhibition in!
Jessica W — Google review
I liked the architecture of the building itself. This place contains art that is not the normal ones that you usually see in museums around Paris with some more modern take on art there was a room with a projection that felt kind of a new idea and something interesting to see the location of the museum is very nice and it was included in my city pass.
Mike A — Google review
We had a great time at this museum leaning about the French history during the 16th-18th centuries. The staff were very nice to us, even though the museum seemed small, it was definitely worth it and the price of €22 for 4 people. The history is super fun to read and see, especially their temporary exhibit that represents different mixes of feeling about the world and about the history back in the centuries. Their permanent exhibits that are in the main building are worth to see, with more interesting paintings and architecture. The dog at the end was pretty sick too, haha. Overall, it was definitely worth the visit in Lille for something to do!
Nikolai M — Google review
With a 7 euro entrance, same as the Palais des Beaux Arts, this is a poor choice where we spent only around 30 mins with nothing much to see! A waste of money & time. Avoid at best, way over rated!
William G — Google review
The museum about the nuns is extremely short and the lady welcoming you don't speak English so it was very difficult to ask questions or navigate. We expected to see some furnished rooms from an actual hospital but there were only not related paintings. The current temporary exhibition is not fitting at all, ruins the atmosphere and you are obligated to pay for it even if you don't care about it.

I don’t understand why this museum is destroying the great history of the building and the fantastic spirit of the former inhabitants by placing modern art in it.

The district features the Euravenir tower, an architectural marvel that visually connects urban ensembles through its unique geometry and volumetry.
A great shopping centre. Spacious, clean and modern, with plenty of security around, making it feel very safe. Lots of shops, places to eat and a large supermarket too. The toilets are clean, although it's annoying that you have to pay to use them. It is conveniently located between Lille Flandres and Lille Europe train stations, right in the heart of the city centre. Overall, a great place to shop and certainly improves Lille as a shopping destination.

La Capsule Lille is a charming and rustic-chic bar located in Vieux-Lille, offering a comprehensive collection of craft beers and charcuterie plates. The bar is known for its vaulted brick cellar with exposed wooden beams, creating a cozy atmosphere. It features 28 craft brews on tap, including local options with various flavor profiles such as tart, roast, and smoked notes.
It’s my favorite craft beer bar in Lille. I’ve been here twice. There are almost 30 beers on tap that you can find on Untappd. They also have food. The staff are overall pretty nice and knowledgeable about the beer. Only 4 stars because there’s this one time where I asked a guy at the bar if I can try one beer on the tap (this is common practice in craft beer bars I think) and he said no and expressed it in a not so nice way.

I visited the Gare Saint Sauveur specifically to see the exhibition "Afriques Capitales," curated by Simon Njami. The entire assemblage was excellent - with a deeply thought-provoking selection of recently created contemporary sculptures, paintings, photographs and installations, all addressing themes related to the complexities and precarities of urban life. Architecturally, Njami made very good use of the space, and the video installation by the artists MWANGI HUTTER (aka Ingrid Mwangi and Robert Hutter) shown in real time (with the appearance of slow motion and layered film montage) from inside the alcoves of the open railway carriages was both intriguing and highly sensual. I was also delighted to see the textile sculptures by internationally renowned artists such as Abdoulaye Konate and El Anatsui. Gare Saint Sauveur has an excellent restaurant, serving very good quality reasonably priced set lunches.
Carol D — Google review
Visited during the last weekend of June during Lille 3000, most of the installations were aimed for children but entrance is free so no complaints there. The other wing is more for all-ages with some visual installations but generally not your top-tier artists' work. More for beginner artists to showcase . Ate lunch at the cafe as well as there are not many food options nearby, menu was actually above average quality and price wise.

Designed by architect Louis Marie Cordonnier, this Belle Epoque masterpiece features an intricate pediment relief and houses impressive interior works by sculptor Edgar-Henri Boutry. The opera house is a prominent venue for opera, ballet, and classical music performances.

I visited the Opéra de Lille today for an evening recital, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The moment you step inside, the grandeur of the building sweeps you off your feet- from the sweeping red-carpeted staircases to the opulent chandeliers and intricate golden moldings, every corner of the opera house exudes elegance and history. The concert hall itself is breathtaking. Plush red velvet seats, ornate balconies, and a ceiling adorned with a spectacular chandelier set the stage for an intimate and atmospheric musical evening. I attended a recital featuring piano and voice, and the acoustics were absolutely stunning — every note resonated beautifully in the space. The ambiance was refined yet warm, and the entire experience felt like stepping into a different era. Whether you’re a fan of classical music or simply want to experience the cultural heartbeat of Lille, a visit to the Opéra is an absolute must. It’s not just a performance venue - it’s a piece of living art.

I had an amazing experience watching a fost opera at lille’s opera. Seating was very cheap, and it was so good. Loved the performance and the architecture of the building itself both from the inside, and from the outside the staff were very friendly, and there were so many staff to help you be guided to your seat. although my seat was cheap still, I could see clearly the stage

Our first opera and it was modern. We had no idea what was happening but enjoyed it none the less despite having restructed view we could see all the actual stage. €13 was too good to miss and so much better than having empty seats. It was packed. The Opera house itself is worth the visit alone! Brilliant evening

A stunning century old building, lovingly restored. The crowds fill the place so make sure to book tickets way in advance. It’s also a nice alternative for a night out from Brussels, as the train takes just 35 minutes to reach Lille.

What a fantastic town is this. For some reason people skip Lille on their way to their holiday destination. Please take the opportunity to stop and visit. The car park at the station brings you into the center within 10 walking minutes. Really a must see !!

World wonder , super, must see

Very pretty inside. They offer free tours during the day. It's a shame we couldn't go upstairs though

Adjacent to this is the Opera house, also dating back to the same era. The square exudes a historic charm with its architectural gems and serves as a delightful spot for visitors to explore.
