Bakery
Aux Merveilleux de Fred, a renowned pastry shop that first opened its doors in 1997 in Lille, has now expanded to major cities worldwide due to the success of its original café. With three locations in Lille alone, including one just a 15-minute metro ride from Urban Campus Saint So Coliving, this bakery allows visitors to watch the skilled pastry chefs create their exquisite treats right from the street.
Look, I don't really like sweet stuff (I know that's a red flag) but look, if I enjoyed it, what are you still doing reading this and not buying things there? Basically I got a brioche with crystallised sugar in it and I had to give it to someone else for safe keeping because holy BRIOCHE it was unreal. Sweet, delicate, balanced, moreish. I miss it. I am glad I don't live in Lille because I don't think eating brioche every day is a great idea. But if I did, I'd do it here. They also do merveilleux as their name may suggest and I would say they are undoubtedly the best in Lille (they are also the only ones I had in Lille but double also they were amazing)
Will — Google review
We tried the dessert they are famous for. It was OK. It is still worth a try because the place itself is beautiful and the fact that they make the dessert in front of you is unique.
Cookie S — Google review
Very lovely place! Would definitely recommend going there. Tiny place but still a lot of great choices.
M. M — Google review
Although I'm not a big fan of their famous Le Merveilleux (personal preferences), this patisserie doesn't need any explanation. Their chocolate cramique (brioche with chocolate chips) is another one to taste. You can also the chefs working on their marvel!
Argun T — Google review
Delicious!!! But I do recommend eating the pastories as quick as possible. Also brioche au chocolat very good, and the Cream bun thingy was heavenly !
Katlijn N — Google review
It stands true to everything I've heard about this place! This is a small shop in the Vieux Lille That serves one of the best Merveilleux you can get out there! Plush interiors that exude that elegance, you'll be delighted as soon as you enter this shop. Several flavours of Merveilleux are available but I ordered the classic one. I loved it. 😋
Akash P — Google review
Went for the famous Merveilleux. Tried the chocolate and the vanilla, and Tammy enjoyed both. I wouldn’t go back for more, but I’m definitely happy to have tried them
Andy K — Google review
Stumbled upon this shop while on the way to the cathedral. Only for take away or sur place. I would recommend to get the brioche as it quite good (it is big so sharing is recommended). The rest for me was ok (pain au lait and merveilleux) but maybe it is just me. The staff was nice even though with limited English.

MEERT, located in Roubaix, France, has a rich history dating back to 1849. The famous waffles from Meert have a long tradition and were even supplied to the royal family in nearby Belgium for a while. The shop on Rue Esquermoise not only offers delicious waffles but also houses a historic tearoom and a restaurant. Visitors can enjoy the delightful experience of tasting these renowned delicacies with a fascinating historical background.
We had to queue for about 20 minutes, but it is a lovely tea room and all the cakes looked amazing! I opted for hot chocolate & their famous filled waffles which were really good! I went back the next day and got some to take home! The vanilla one reminded me of a custard cream biscuit! I do wish I tried one of their cakes too!
Sophie F — Google review
Great place for photography. Ok stroopwaffles, nice location Méert Lille is pure old-world elegance — a place where history, craftsmanship, and indulgence come together beautifully. Stepping inside feels like entering a living postcard from another era, with its ornate interiors, charming service, and irresistible aroma of freshly baked treats. The signature gaufres (waffles) are ok… The pâtisseries and chocolates are equally ok…, each one crafted with remarkable finesse and balance. Pair them with a perfectly brewed coffee or tea, and it’s an experience that lingers long after you leave. Whether you’re here for a quiet afternoon indulgence or to pick up a beautiful gift box, Méert captures the timeless art of French sweetness. An iconic Lille institution — elegant, delicious, and unforgettable.
Rodney L — Google review
Very wonderful bakery shop / cafe like a creation of art. The displayed pastries were so perfectly arranged and looked delicious. The chandeliers, glass work enhanced the look of the boutique further. The open air garden cafe very nice , staff kind and polite , helpful. In the shop the goods are well displayed with price tags so easy to identify. The display shelves are so pretty and the colour combination very unique. Overall this is more like a pretty waffle or bakery museum and I loved my time here. I enjoyed vanilla waffle . Wanted to sit down in garden cafe so had also queued for the waiting line but it rained heavily suddenly so left in the middle and this time happy only with the wonderful waffle, will return next week or soon for a coffee and pastry .
Mamata B — Google review
Magnificent. If you’re visiting Lille and would like some exquisite pastries and sweets, then consider visiting Meert. It is much better than some of the other/more expensive tourist traps. It’s situated in a beautiful building, which has been decorated beautifully.
Dan — Google review
A true jewel in the heart of Lille! Meert is as much about the atmosphere as it is about the sweets. The interiors are simply breathtaking—opulent chandeliers, historic wooden decor, classical sculptures, and ornate ceilings that transport you to another era. Whether you’re seated inside the regal tea salon or strolling through their boutique, the ambiance is a visual feast. I tried the coffee and their signature vanilla and raspberry-filled waffles—a delightful treat that lives up to its reputation. The coffee was beautifully presented and smooth, and the raspberry waffle had just the right balance of tart and sweet. Perfect for a special outing or if you’re looking to indulge in a bit of old-world French charm. A must-visit if you’re in Lille.✨
Harshini K — Google review
How can this be anything but 5*? The pastries, the service, the setting, the shop, the history, everything is impeccable and the price point is reasonable. I think Meert may be a victim of its own reputation, as it is busy and people clearly expect perfection, but in our experience it lived up to it, and of all our culinary experiences in Lille this will be the one I remember forever.
Geoffrey B — Google review
The mille-feuille was absolutely delicious, and the éclair was good, but I didn’t really like the dark chocolate. I really enjoyed the waffle because it was unique and different from the usual. The atmosphere of the place was wonderful, and the best part was the excellent service. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it in time for lunch.
Mohammad S — Google review
The food here was decent – both the main course and dessert were fine, but nothing particularly memorable. What really took away from the experience, though, was the attitude of one of the staff members, who came across as quite arrogant. I was hoping for a warmer, more inviting atmosphere, but everything felt a bit cold and flat. For the price point, I expected better service and a more enjoyable overall experience.

Estaminet Au Vieux De La Vieille is a charming venue with a terrace where you can savor traditional local dishes and desserts, along with coffee and draft beer.
We were looking around to have dinner and chanced upon this hidden gem . We are promptly attended to by a lady and were given a nice table outside and since the weather was great this was what we had requested as well. The service was stellar and I wish other restaurants could take some lessons from the staff here about customer service . The beef stew was just right , the Maroilles was very nice and our daughter loved the experience . Highly recommended for someone who wants to enjoy the traditional experience and cuisine
Anoop W — Google review
Summary: Inattentive service, average food and wine, atmosphere not different from other much better restaurants with outdoor seating. Will not recommend. Servers were running about as they seemed very busy during lunch time. Maybe try a less busy time if you still want to try your luck. My waiter was inattentive and only interested to quickly be done with it. I was initially thinking of ordering dessert to be served later and asking for his recommendation for a wine pairing. But since he was not paying attention and already looking/ shouting over to talk to his colleague across another table, I did not bother ordering much and kept to a simple main and a random wine. No bread offered and didn't check in at all if I need anything else (not even water). When I eventually got up and paid my bill (you have to go to the till; they don’t do it at your table), I was asked if the food was okay. When I gave my honest answer, no apologies offered either. The food — I ordered the Welsh au maroilles. It was so salty to the point of being inedible. I barely finished one-third of my plate. The salad was just bland and tasteless. The frites was probably the only saving grace but still nothing to write home about. Atmosphere - It’s all nice when it’s sunny but you get that everywhere else. So don’t bother here. Reminders (general): Despite all the above, if you still want to try this, make sure to reserve in advance. Places and restaurants get filled up easily in Lille. When sat outside, be prepared for secondhand smoke. Your coat, clothes and even your food will smell of secondhand smoke. People there will not be considerate of you even in restaurants.

Nice traditional atmosphere and generous portions, but food quality was inconsistent. Service was okay, though the ordering policy felt a bit strict. Worth trying for local dishes, but not a must-return spot.

I had a great experience at this restaurant! The food was delicious, and the portions were impressively large—definitely good value for money. The beer was tasty and paired perfectly with the meal. The staff were very welcoming and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend!

Fantastic guesthouse with excellent home-made fresh breakfast and very kind host. The room was clean, spacious and cozy. The bathroom was modern and functional. It was more than our expectation. We would definitely love to stay here again!

Incredible and typical Lillois restaurant. The service is very cheerful, the food is good (very, VERY rich). Great Lillois experience The tarte au Maroilles and the croquettes au maroilles are a must try !
Alice P — Google review
Sweet old restaurant in the old town of Lille. Food very local and cheese heavy. A bit too heavy for my taste but good and well prepared. Do not ask for bread lol.
Michael L — Google review
This place was a nice surprise. Good local food. Don't expect anything refined. North French kitchen is food of the farmers and coal miners back in the day if I'm correct. I really loved the taste of everything. Good portions... Local wines.. Very much wat I like. To me it feld like a Christmas diner. The service was very efficient, friendly en Quik. No bs.. Make sure you have reservations. When we came in there was nobody there but within 15 min the whole place was full. Price was OK.

Bloom Café is a charming spot located just a few minutes from the Grand Place, offering a unique blend of a tea room and dried flower shop. Indulge in an array of Anglo-Saxon delights such as cupcakes, banana bread, and cheesecake. The café also features pastries and beverages infused with floral elements like raspberry cheese roll with rose glaze and bloom lattes with rose or lavender. Additionally, they serve savory options during lunch hours.
10/10 A very warm, earthy, and cozy cafe. Easy to spend lots of time here and remote work friendly. Such a variety of delicious desserts - so difficult to choose what to have! Their coffee is one of the best I’ve had in Lille (I’ve been to many cafes here). Everyone working here is lovely and friendly! There is a lot of attention to detail from the desserts (creativity, ingredients, presentation) to their coffee. They spend time telling you about each piece of dessert they make too! Such a wonderful cafe - highly recommended.
Alexandra M — Google review
Great coffee! Lots of options for baked goods too. We went for a pistachio and orange blossom loaf cake. It was nice but wish we'd gone for their cheesecake! Definitely recommend a visit. They do brunch on the weekends which looks lovely but you have to book in advance. Take a look at their Instagram to see what food they have on offer each day as it seems to change a lot.
Sophie S — Google review
I was totally satisfied by the quality of the coffee. Milk was nicely steamed, and the cappuccino was served with latte art. My girl liked her lemonade as well. The barista was kind and attentive. We will definitely come back!
Rahman N — Google review
The pastries are phenomenal. The creme they put on the cinnamon roll was absolutely amazing. The pistachio pastry had an explosion of flavors. Loved it!
Caleb C — Google review
Nice option for gluten free, vegan pastries and coffee (they have flat white, chai latte and matcha). Pastries are beautiful but I often see them exposed in the vitrine with direct heat / sunlight and with flies sometimes on them. Also some of them have quite a strong taste of soda bicarbonate. Also it’s common in Lille, but a chai latte spices need to be boiled instead of infused in slightly hot water. In result we have pricey chai lattes with no taste 🥲 it looks beautiful though. Often it’s hard to find a place to sit because there are not a lot of places. One time I was waiting in a line for a long time and there was a last piece of cake left and a guy came from behind saying he wants this cake to go and they let him have it.
Darima T — Google review
Delicious cake and coffee! My partner, who usually avoids vegan food, devoured the chocolate cake. The plant-based pumpkin cake was also very good. It was busy for a Sunday afternoon, but the tables turned around fairly quickly.
Philipa — Google review
Very cute cafe with AMAZING cakes, delicious, moist, fresh and so many different options. My cappuccino was delicious to, they use a Marzocco Machine that is in my view the best of the best and my coffee and cake had edible flowers on them. Staff was super friendly and fun, good atmosphere and the place itself is cute with lots of flowers. 5 stars in my view and the cake with Matcha and black Sesame was insanely delicious as well as the fig tart.

The best of the best in vieux Lille! You have to try a petit pain au chocolates or a croissant ! You will be amazed! Unfortunately, it has only two tables outside and no space inside but you can grab something and continue wandering around the old town of Lille! The staff is very friendly and the collection of desserts is state-of-art level. I totally recommend it 😊

The waitress didnt even give us a platter while we said we were eating here, but to the table next to us she did bring the food on a platter. So we had to eat it in paper bags. Rude and racist. Also weren’t allowed to use the bathroom. And the food isnt that good. Dont recommend.

We liked this small bakery a lot. They have a few numbers of tiny cakes & of course croissants which all look beautiful & taste really good. We tried their chocolate croissant & that tiny little treasure chest of a bakery (see from the pictures) and with the company of espresso, they made our day!

Boulangerie - Pâtisserie - Confiserie "Brier" is a lively bakery and tearoom in Lille, renowned for its traditional pain au chocolat, breakfast waffles, and lunchtime sandwiches. The shop offers a dazzling assortment of tarts and cakes with lavish toppings of fruit, custard, or chocolate. Visitors often have to wait in line due to the popularity of their pastries. The crumble chocolat-menthe is a favorite among locals.
Very cute bakery with a place to sit and enjoy your coffee and some lunch or desserts. Service was fast and polite. Would visit again if I am in town.

We came to this patisserie when we first arrived Lille. The cafe has a good variety of pastries, cakes & brioche. We tried a couple of pastries & found a lot of locals had slices of brioche bread with jam & cream. The pastries were decent though nothing spectacular. I must also warn against coffees as they are not what a serious coffee lover would expect.
Lorna W — Google review
A nice place to have pastries in Lille. To sit in the prices of the cakes are a lot more than to take out, still very nice but be careful. The tea was 5 euros each, however I cannot fault the food, the cheesecake was my favourite!
Sofia P — Google review
Gorgeous bakery! This is a beatiful bakery with goreous window displays, a comfortable dining area and lovely friendly staff. We wanted to try Le Mervilleux (the marvellous) but by the time we arrived at the bakery, all the chocolate ones were gone so we had to settle for one dusted with speculoos crumbs. The young man who waited on us told us it was his favourite - and he was right - it was just amaaaaaaaazing!!

Delicious. There are two doors. The main door is for choosing things to take away. There's a second, smaller door where you can go in and sit and order coffee and pastries as well as other specials. The menu was written on a black board on the wall. A great place to stop in and have a break.

Oxalis et Bergamote is a charming tea room located on Rue d'Angleterre, run by the passionate duo Ingrid and Romain. The place has a raw and natural decor, offering delicious pastries made with ingredients from local producers. Their menu includes treats suitable for different dietary requirements such as vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free options. Some of their specialties include cookies, carrot cake, and financiers. Additionally, they offer a weekly takeaway brunch.
Came for the flan but surprised by the cinnamon roll! The scent of cinnamon is strong (which is better) and the size is larger than average ones. There are spices on top of the roll which gives a nice twist to the flavor. The flan is nice too but would prefer a denser texture.

The cinnamon bun is delicious! The drinks are also very good (especially the black sesame latte)

Adorable and authentic patisserie. Best matcha latte I’ve had in ages. They don’t serve coffee and don’t have your typical French pastries like croissants but everything we tried was delicious. Would recommend the cardamom bun.

I've been looking for Cinnamon Rolls in France for ages, then I found this lovely little bakery who makes Cinnamon brioches to order. It's still warm when I picked it up, it's so soft and delicious. I'll definitely come back.

Loved it in here. Staff were lovely, spoke great English (and didn't laugh at my poor French). The cinnamon bun and moelleux (gluten free) were amazing and so tasty. The whole place is so well turned out and it just feels cool being in there. A must visit if you're nearby, a top spot for us
Guy P — Google review
A very nice tiny place. They have a large choice of teas and a bit less of other drinks. There've only vegan milk options if I'm not mistaken and the majority of pastries and desserts are made from gluten free flower, so you can eat it without guilt (at least, it's what I do). The toilet is clean and nice. And the nice thing is if you're taking your dessert away in your own container, they make a 10% discount (not a lot but still a pleasant thing).
Maria A — Google review
Having arrived at Lille minutes before noon on a Sunday I had just enough time to visit before closing time. Luckily managed to grab the last vegan and gluten free pastry. I don’t know what it’s called, but it was beautiful, smooth, satisfying and well-worth hurrying there. Would definitely visit again on my future trips to the city.

Aux Merveilleux de Fred is a renowned patisserie known for its decadent dessert of meringue. The founder has perfected the recipe, creating a perfect merveilleux with soft meringue that's not bulky like in most pastries. The success led to multiple boutiques worldwide, including three in Lille. Visitors rave about the delicious meringues, which are crunchy and caramelized on the outside while soft and chewy inside.
Best meringues I’ve ever had. So their specialty is the layer meringues cakes they are good, but personally too sweet for my taste to have a cake made of meringues. But what I do is buy their meringues which are amazing coz they are crunchy with this caramelised taste from the outside and soft and chewy from the inside just perfect. And I would make pavlovas with for example.

Best Chocolate Éclairs I ever had! It's a Chocolate lover heaven to eat this. The thin pastry is not dry and the Chocolate chilled cream tasted rich and not too sweet. This bakery has a wide selection of attractive breads and desserts. A difficult decision making process. I happy I came to this bakery and wish I've a bigger stomach to eat more.

The best boulangerie in Lille. From cakes, to breads and sandwiches - heaven. Only managed to take a photo as we were too absorbed in trying everything they had on offer. Do not miss it! We need to come back.

Definitely the best dark chocolate Elcair I have ever had and it’s better than the ones in Paris! Very smooth and chocolatey for dark chocolate lover like me while it’s not too sweet! The pastries here are all attractive and I had a hard time choosing! Finally we decided to visit here again today after our first visit yesterday as the food is truly excellent! Specially thanks to Vanessa who was very nice and explained the food very well in English on both visits. She also helped us to heat up the pastries and we were lucky to enjoy the food at the sofa seat. Great experience, highly recommended! Wish you can open a store in London! :)

I’ve always wanted to try this bakery in Paris so I’m happy I finally got to try this bakery… in Lille! They say the Pistachio Roll and the Cruffin are the two most popular pastries. They also serve pretty good Babkas. I had the Flat which was excellent! I’m taking a star of because I was really looking forward to ordering bread, which they didn’t have, and it would be great if they upgraded their coffee game to specialty coffee (rather than rely on Nespresso). The bakery is worth a visit, even if it does give off ‘chain store vibes’ it’s some of the vest bread you can have.

Food was very average; both the entrecôte and the prime cut were very tough and everything was incredibly greasy. The stew of the day was dry and flavourless. Service was great, until we had a complaint and after that they were not interested. Overpriced and would not recommend.
Grace R — Google review
The flavour of the food were correct, even good, the service was ok, just one suggestion, for the price that you guys are proposing, the presentation of the dish needs to Improve, at the moment... its looking like an overpriced cantine food.

Great find tucked away on the street of the Monnaie, well worth a visit, reasonable prices, good choice and generous servings
Fergus G — Google review
Peaceful and warm atmosphere. The staff’s attention to details and meticulous care does not go unnoticed. When you order regardless of who comes to bring it they know who ordered what without asking. The food was excellent and arrived pretty fast. The only reason I don’t give 5/5 is that the appetiser could have used some lemon juice (salmon tartare) but it’s my personal taste. I had duck with green pepper sauce which was to die for. I got out full but not too much, calm and happy.

The place is nice. When you want to go out for a nice dinner, it's a nice place to go to. The day we went there, I think our server was not having the best day on his life. He was a nice person, I think, maybe just not day. I'm not being polite. I'm trying to be factual and objective. I think I was expecting a lot from the food and that's why was not completely happy. Not that it's not good. It's good. I think I was expecting great and didn't get it that day. But that was my dish. My friend's dish was AWEsome! He had the kidneys. And another friend who ordered the same dish as mine (the 7 hours' lamb) had better tasting meat than mine. I'm telling you, it's a nice place. Go there. It just probably wasn't my day. Nor that of our server 🤷🏽‍♀️

We went for the cheaper set menu and that may have been a mistake. All courses underwhelming. ( And that was the response from 2 of the 4 of us) Mistakes made with our order ( may have been a translation issue) waiting staff didn't know certain dishes were sold out, service could have been more slick. Wine was great. Ambience could have been better. Ultimately not my kind of place.

Creperie
Restaurant
Crêperie Beaurepaire is a must-visit in northern France, offering an extensive menu of galettes and crepes at reasonable prices. The variety of options ranges from classic combinations to more elaborate creations, with daily specials adding to the excitement. The Lille location features vaulted ceilings and a charming outdoor courtyard, while another branch in Republique Saint Sauveur offers a contemporary ambiance. Guests can savor excellent Breton cider served in traditional cups alongside their delicious crepes.
This was such a lovely place to visit. The selection of crepes to pick from is immense, it's the perfect place to go if you have a group and there's a picky eater amongst you. The standouts for me were their sweet pancakes, but their savoury selections were impressive too. I would say it isn't very accessible if you're using any walking aids, the tables are very close together and the toilets are downstairs.
Shauni — Google review
Had a good experience at this Crêperie! The staff was really friendly and the level of english they spoke was good. The crepes were also amazing. Had to go with a basic ‘Crêpe with sugar and strawberries’, but besides that it was basic, it tasted amazing. Really recommending anyone to try this place out if you want a good experience with a traditional crêpe.

Superb crêpes restaurant in the old town. We were lucky to have a table on the terrasse, just outside the old building and on the paved courtyard - beautiful setting. Food is excellent (crepe complete is perfect!) and they have draught beer. Kids friendly (high chair, colour crayons etc.) - service was amazing, super nice waitress. Definitely recommend! Super busy, booking recommended!
Victor E — Google review
Very good crepes, gets pretty busy, reservations strongly recommended We visited this restaurant during the heat waive and our preference would have been to sit outside, however, despite the fact that they have many tables in the little garden outside the restaurant, every single one was occupied. So, if one is particular in their preferences, it is better to make a reservation. We sat as close to an open window as we could get, to feel some circulating air. Our goal was to get a little dessert, so we were looking for something sweet. They do have a wide selection of both sweet and savory crepes. The crepes were good. We tried a simple apricot crepe, which was generously stuffed with jam. We also ordered Crunchy and Pain D’Epices. Everything was very tasty. We finished up our feast with some ice cream, which was also delicious. The whole bill was 23 euro. The service was not very friendly, and it took a bit to get our food. They were very busy that evening, though it was a Tuesday night.

Nice food... I highly recommend the menus they have as they can make you save good money and try more than one of their spécialités. My experience wasn't that pleasant because of the staff. We did arrive near the closing time (but not that close) and it just seemed our waiter didn't have a good day. I have heard about this place and I hope this was just "one of those days". I recommend it.

Nice crepe place in the heart of the city. It has pizza and crepes. It isn't the cheapest but food is nice and the place is cosy. It is small and it has 2 floors with a spiral stair. During the week (not holiday) there is a special offer drink+crepe for 6.5€ from 16.00 to 18.00. Usual prices for crepe go from 3.9 to 5.9€. Drinks around 3 and 4€. Pizzas around 10€.

If you’re looking for a breakfast that feels both indulgent and nourishing, Tamper! hits the mark. I had two stunning open-faced toasts – one topped with creamy avocado, smoked salmon, beetroot, feta, and a soft-boiled egg dusted with paprika. The other was a heartier bite with crispy bacon, fried onions, spiced mayo, and another perfectly cooked egg. Both plates were beautifully presented and paired with fresh greens and balsamic glaze, adding just the right balance. It’s the kind of breakfast that wakes up your taste buds and sets the tone for a good day. A top pick for a slow morning – and definitely worth sitting outside if the weather’s nice.

To be honest , I was very looking forward to visit this Michelin 1 start restaurant , but turn into quite disappointed in the end . The service is one man show , only one waitress to serve the whole night with 6 tables of guests , service woman is fine and friendly , even she is busy , but ok ! The problem is the food quality and the speed , it’s kind of rush ! Main course fish with raw cauliflower not only not tasteful but also not pretty presented!!After the not very pleasant and tasteful main course , comes old Yellowish Lettuce with cheese is getting difficult to accept !! ( see pic ) Whole night we never see the chef and as I said before , just one waitress ! Maybe the main Chef even not there ? As a Michelin star restaurant, we didn’t expect high class expensive materials , but with the price compared to what you have at the table , it’s quite a big disappointment!! At least the lettuce could be fresh and crisp !!

(Translated by Google) Great dining experience. From the house cocktail to the two tasty appetizers and the two dishes making up the Summer menu, nothing but pleasure. The combination of flavors surprises in certain dishes and when there is no surprise the tastes and flavors nevertheless stimulate our taste buds with happiness. Pleasure for the eyes, for the nose and for the palate guaranteed. All this accompanied by excellent white wines despite their young vintage. The service is professional. Friendly, smiling and knowing the menu and products like the back of his hand, the waiter also contributed to making this intimate moment with my wife unforgettable. Small remark. My chair was slightly stained. Some damaged floorboards. A slightly cracked window on the front door. A little refreshment would be welcome to bring everything into tune. We recommend without any hesitation. I had a great afternoon time here. Very comfy, chill and cute cafe shop! I love the interior and furnitures inside, they put a lot of efforts on the decoration. very cute table cloth and fun color of tableware. I barely speak French, the staff here is very warm and sweet so that I have no difficulty ordering food. The set of a sandwich, a dessert and a drink costs 15,50 euros which I think is very reasonable here. And don’t miss the restroom! Clean and cute decoration. At Gelato & Coffee Artisan Glacier, you can indulge in authentic and creamy gelato served by genuine Italians. The range of flavors available is simply incredible, ranging from traditional favorites like hazelnut and vanilla-pecan-caramel to fresh fruit sorbets and bolder creations like black straciatella and black sesame. It's important to note that all their offerings are free from preservatives, artificial flavors, and 100% handmade.

I have been here multiple times over the years and it never fails to impress me. The gelato is full flavoured and just rich and tasty with each bite. The sorbets are again fresh and delicious. Can't go wrong and if you are curious you can get a sample. Also the waffles are so yummy. I couldn't help, but be tempted by the smell of a fresh waffle and yes they are awesome, don't tell your doctor as with added gelato and a sauce one would eat it and not have a worry in the world. Well year on year I haven't been disappointed by them. Also I went over the sunny weekend and there was a queue for a good reason. I would advise you to go back and try as many flavours you have to try them out.

This ice cream shop offers more than 20 flavours, which explains the long queues you’ll often see here on weekends. The variety is impressive, with something for everyone. I tried the Pham Choco flavour, made with 70% cocoa, and it was amazing — rich, deep, and perfectly balanced without being too sweet. You can really taste the quality of the chocolate.

Very good place to get sandwich and coffee. The pastries and criossants are quite fresh. The service is fast, and you get what you want pretty quickly despite the queue.

SO good, I ran here from the station between trains and it was well worth it. The fine apple tart in particular was perfectly crispy with great caremelisation and taste. The breads were stunning 😍

🌞 A perfect start to the day at Boulangerie Mathieu 🇫🇷🥐 We just had breakfast at Boulangerie Mathieu and honestly… it was everything you’d hope a French bakery to be. The smell of fresh baguettes and buttery croissants hits you the moment you walk in — and yes, they taste even better than they smell. We tried the classic croissant au beurre, a pain au chocolat, and a quiche — all baked to perfection. Crispy on the outside, soft and airy on the inside. The coffee was rich and smooth, served with a smile by friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The vibe is cosy, local, and full of charm. You can tell this place is loved by both locals and visitors — and for good reason. It’s not just a bakery, it’s an experience. If you’re ever nearby, treat yourself to a slow morning at Boulangerie Mathieu. Sit down, sip your coffee, and let the world slow down for a moment. 🥖☕

My roommate was like “ at Mathieu you will always have a queue”. He was so right when I arrived and the expectations were high. I must say all the 3 deserts were really tasty, detailed and layered. My personal favourite is Royal Chocolat.

We found this place by pure chance. Had the croissant aux amandes (heaven!) and pain au chocoalt, and eclair to go. Everything tasted so good, crispy on the outside, melts inside, rich flavours, I just can't wait to go back there. Highly recommended!

Juliane is a delightful café that offers an impressive selection of pastries, each crafted with a perfect balance of flavors. The atmosphere is serene and aesthetically pleasing, making it an ideal spot to unwind. They cater to various dietary needs, including gluten-free options like the apricot/pistachio tart and chocolate chip mini bundt cake, both of which are highly praised by visitors. The owner exudes warmth and charm, welcoming guests with her friendly demeanor despite any language barriers.
Lovely little cafe and great interior with friendly service. I had the pomme and caramel cream slice and it was delicious and good price for a patisserie shop. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a nice place to sit and have a sweet treat.
Amelia R — Google review
They had several gluten free cake choices and both of the ones that my husband and I tasted were excellent (apricot/pistachio tart & a chocolate chip mini bundt cake). The "vibe" is also very calming and esthetic, highly recommend. One downside was that they didn't have decaf coffee but their regular coffee tasted great.
Dorka B — Google review
A very nice interior. The thing that I didn't like is that the desserts looked a bit fat (there were no lighter dessert options) and the service. I have heard from my friend that she didn't like the service there and I've personally experienced it. It took 30 minutes to bring us our tea and the waiter didn't give us anything for the time spent waiting.
Maria A — Google review
Atmosphere and decoration is nice. But I dont suggest for a main course. I had Cocotte egg which was very liquid, it was just like a soup. Salad is extremely basic. Only green salad. Not a real souce, tomato or anything. They might have good desserts, I didnt try. But coffee and main course, very weak. They should improve the way they serve food and cooking quality.

Lovely cakes and tea! The owner is very nice adorable. She doesn't speak much English but she was very welcoming and tried her best to explain the menu to us anyway. We wanted to leave a tip while paying by card but I guess it is not in their culture so she was a bit confused and gave us a discount (?) instead.

The cramique au pepites du chocolat is full of chocolate, maybe one of the best we tried in Lille. Also it was very fresh and much heavier than the ones found in other shops, 7€ ( a bit more expensive) but worth it in my opinion

Amazing, Just amazing. A short walk from the metro. 10mins walk from Central station. 25 mins walk from International station. Well worth it. You will pass many Patisseries but make this main stop. Quality. We arrived a little after 1pm having had dinner and a beer at Le Tavern. Short walk through the narrow streets you arrive here at this Patisserie. As we arrived after 1pm 40% of items still left. But still enough choice. I bought the Brownie... Ultra Nice . And 4 Mixed chocolate eclairs boxed and taken home back to England. 5 Stars. Great staff that understand a little English and services was great. Boxed . Not that busy 4 deep queue but loads of staff. Make this a stop.

L'impertinente is a quirky and colorful tearoom in Lille, known for its gourmet housemade cakes, pastries, and flavored teas. The establishment prides itself on its offbeat humor and communication style, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere for visitors to enjoy their delicious sweet treats. With two salons in Lille, patrons can also order their delectable pastries directly from the website.
TL;DR - Delicious baked goods and tea selection, cute merch, and roomy toilets with a very clean baby changing station. Very small and cozy cafe — there are only 8 tables inside and 1-2 outside — so when it’s full, it’s full, though people seem to enjoy taking baked goods to-go just as much (and the takeaway boxes are VERY cute)! There was a lovely selection of cakes, cookies, and other desserts, and the teas are quite nice as well. The server brought us our tea in lovely silver teapots, and an eclectic mix of plates and mugs is used for everything else. Around the front window are postcards, mugs, pouches of tea, and other merch for sale. The entrance was a bit difficult to navigate with a stroller; I had to disassemble and reassemble it to take it up the few steps to the front door. Once inside though, I left my stroller intact, and while the interior of the place is small, there was surprisingly enough room to keep the stroller next to the table without other folks having to squeeze to get past it. When I went to the toilet to wash my hands, I found that the space was surprisingly large and equipped with a changing station in the corner.

Would give zero stars if could. We booked in advance and turned up on time but there was a big queue of people buying cakes. Staff member tried to sit us next to a monsieur when all other tables were empty (frankly bizarre) then told us we would have to order at the counter but there was no menu on the table to choose from. When waiting to be served, Madame served a man who had come into the shop after us and there were 4 or 5 people in the queue after him, so we left. We then had a delicious sandwich and cake served by a delightful man who clearly cared about customer service across the road in Le Petit Pain!

Cold hospitality + greasy and heavy cakes L'accueil froid + gâteaux lourds et écoeurants Been welcomed by a male employee who looked so ignorant and seemed to have a preference for some clients only. All the bakeries looked nice but actually too sweet and heavy: the lime cheesecake was too creamy even for a cream lover like me couldn't bear their over-creamed recipe; the shortbread was tasteless but sprinkled by heavy chocolate caramel which made the shortbread too sweet. The coffee was as well too creamy and greasy. Eating at this place made me nauseous.

Bakery
Le Concert Gourmand is a popular bakery known for its bustling environment where customers can anticipate waiting in line. The establishment offers delightful baked goods and excellent coffee. While some patrons would have preferred to enjoy their coffee in a regular cup instead of a to-go container, the overall ambiance is lovely and perfect for a quick breakfast. Notably, they also serve delicious sandwiches and pastries with efficient service, making it an ideal choice even for non-French speakers.
A busy bakery, be expected to queue. Nice pastries and good coffee. Would have preferred the coffee to be served in a cup rather than a takeaway cup but lovely atmosphere and great for a quick breakfast

Great service, especially because I don't speak French. Food was even better, croissants are great and the cookies are great as well.
Kenneth S — Google review
really good fresh baguettes and pain au chocolat, decently priced.

Delicious sandwiches and pastries, service was very good even though we don’t speak French. Nice atmosphere, highly recommend for a light meal and/or coffee.

A much needed bite to eat. Lovely service and pretty cakes
S Q — Google review
It’s ok. I live very close and often get sandwiches here. Sometimes the employees are friendly, some less so. I’ve been in twice recently 8 months pregnant and the young female working is completely unhelpful. I explained that I couldn’t eat a few things due to being pregnant and she basically said to go somewhere else because she couldn’t be asked to make a sandwich. That’s too bad especially when I’m your neighbor. But some people who work here are ok. It’s hit and miss.

The pistachio filled croissant is amazing

Walked into an empty place to find the unsmiling lady who certainly wasn't happy to receive customers. Picked a baguette and waited to pay, as she coughed all over the foods inside, and our bread, not covering her mouth. Quite gross, I'd say. Also, the baguette was very stale and old.

Häagen-Dazs is a popular chain known for its delicious ice cream and sorbet offerings, as well as sundaes, shakes, and smoothies. Despite being a large corporation, the quality of their ice creams is highly praised. The impressive variety of flavors and daring frozen creations make it difficult to choose just one. Customers appreciate the nostalgic taste reminiscent of childhood.
Great team here - friendly and multi lingual. I had a milk shake, Mrs had a brownie explosion - tasty! Go grab one!
Pat M — Google review
I stopped by the Häagen-Dazs café and had such a delightful experience. The staff were genuinely warm, welcoming, and attentive - making the entire visit feel extra special. I tried the smoothie bowl topped with granola, banana, kiwi, dark chocolate shavings, and strawberry swirl - refreshing, creamy, and so satisfying. But the highlight was the dreamy ice cream brioche sandwich dripping with rich chocolate sauce. It looked like a piece of art and tasted even better – indulgent and perfectly balanced. The friendly team and beautifully presented treats made this visit memorable. Highly recommend for a relaxed dessert break! 🍓🍫🍨

Worst Ice Cream Shop Ever I had a terrible experience at this ice cream shop. The staff were incredibly impolite and displayed racist behavior by serving other people before us, even though we were first in line. It was appalling. The hygiene standards were atrocious – one of the staff members wiped his hands on his clothes after touching the ice cream, and none of them wore gloves. They also spoke over the food while chatting with each other, which is highly unsanitary. We ordered classic cups of brownies, and they were extremely sweet to the point where you couldn't finish the cup without needing to drink water. The taste was extremely bad. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Avoid it at all costs.

Highly recommend!! Great prices, great quality, great taste All the items were well priced and such a huge range. This is exactly the pastries I wanted when I visited France and would visit France again just to eat here again. The almond croissant was so yummy, did remove some filling because it was a lot. My favourite was the almond- chocolate croissant- unbelievable. The pizza thing was sooooo good. Lovely interior

Wide variety and very nice ambience. I ordered saumon in focaccia but the bread wasn’t fresh its seems its from the day before. The pizza with saumon has a Rancid taste. The sweets was so good.

(Translated by Google) A very friendly welcome with a smile. Homemade ice creams with original flavors, with the possibility of adding toppings of your choice. I tried the ripe yogurt ice cream. I recommend!... All for a very reasonable price. A small shop in the pedestrian streets that deserves to be known!

(Translated by Google) Tried it by chance after meeting someone who had one of these ice creams. They are very good. The concept is really nice and original. The Ferrero ice cream with a runny center is very good! The welcome is particularly attentive. We will come back!

(Translated by Google) The concept is very cool. Being able to choose the toppings amused us. The strawberry sorbet was good (no more) but not the kinder ice cream, which we didn't find any taste for. (Original) Le concept est très sympa. Le fait de pouvoir choisir les toppings nous a amusé. Le sorbet fraise était bon (sans plus) mais pas la glace au kinder auquel on n’a pas trouvé de goût.

(Translated by Google) Brilliant concept ✨ We are all different and obviously our desires vary too and Loco Polo understands this well. You can choose the ice cream that suits YOU. For me it was Piña colada water ice cream with whole white chocolate topping and hazelnut toppings.

(Translated by Google) Delicious ice cream. The quantity should not be underestimated, I couldn't finish everything despite the good taste. Ferrero and Pistachio ice creams both have a wonderful melting center that is quite surprising at first. Place to visit for all passing foodies. (Original) Glaces délicieuses. La quantité n'est pas à sous estimer, je n'ai pas su tout finir malgré le bon goût. Les glaces Ferrero et Pistache ont toutes les deux un merveilleux cœur fondant assez surprenant au début.
