We tried the dessert they are famous for. It was OK. It is still worth a try because the place itself is beautiful and the fact that they make the dessert in front of you is unique.

Very lovely place! Would definitely recommend going there. Tiny place but still a lot of great choices.

Although I'm not a big fan of their famous Le Merveilleux (personal preferences), this patisserie doesn't need any explanation. Their chocolate cramique (brioche with chocolate chips) is another one to taste. You can also the chefs working on their marvel!

Delicious!!! But I do recommend eating the pastories as quick as possible. Also brioche au chocolat very good, and the Cream bun thingy was heavenly !

It stands true to everything I've heard about this place! This is a small shop in the Vieux Lille That serves one of the best Merveilleux you can get out there! Plush interiors that exude that elegance, you'll be delighted as soon as you enter this shop. Several flavours of Merveilleux are available but I ordered the classic one. I loved it. 😋

Stumbled upon this shop while on the way to the cathedral. Only for take away or sur place. I would recommend to get the brioche as it quite good (it is big so sharing is recommended). The rest for me was ok (pain au lait and merveilleux) but maybe it is just me. The staff was nice even though with limited English.

Very wonderful bakery shop / cafe like a creation of art. The displayed pastries were so perfectly arranged and looked delicious. The chandeliers, glass work enhanced the look of the boutique further. The open air garden cafe very nice , staff kind and polite , helpful. In the shop the goods are well displayed with price tags so easy to identify. The display shelves are so pretty and the colour combination very unique. Overall this is more like a pretty waffle or bakery museum and I loved my time here. I enjoyed vanilla waffle . Wanted to sit down in garden cafe so had also queued for the waiting line but it rained heavily suddenly so left in the middle and this time happy only with the wonderful waffle, will return next week or soon for a coffee and pastry .

Magnificent. If you’re visiting Lille and would like some exquisite pastries and sweets, then consider visiting Meert. It is much better than some of the other/more expensive tourist traps. It’s situated in a beautiful building, which has been decorated beautifully.

How can this be anything but 5*? The pastries, the service, the setting, the shop, the history, everything is impeccable and the price point is reasonable. I think Meert may be a victim of its own reputation, as it is busy and people clearly expect perfection, but in our experience it lived up to it, and of all our culinary experiences in Lille this will be the one I remember forever.

The mille-feuille was absolutely delicious, and the éclair was good, but I didn’t really like the dark chocolate. I really enjoyed the waffle because it was unique and different from the usual. The atmosphere of the place was wonderful, and the best part was the excellent service. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it in time for lunch.

The food here was decent – both the main course and dessert were fine, but nothing particularly memorable. What really took away from the experience, though, was the attitude of one of the staff members, who came across as quite arrogant. I was hoping for a warmer, more inviting atmosphere, but everything felt a bit cold and flat. For the price point, I expected better service and a more enjoyable overall experience.

Summary: Inattentive service, average food and wine, atmosphere not different from other much better restaurants with outdoor seating. Will not recommend. Servers were running about as they seemed very busy during lunch time. Maybe try a less busy time if you still want to try your luck. My waiter was inattentive and only interested to quickly be done with it. I was initially thinking of ordering dessert to be served later and asking for his recommendation for a wine pairing. But since he was not paying attention and already looking/ shouting over to talk to his colleague across another table, I did not bother ordering much and kept to a simple main and a random wine. No bread offered and didn't check in at all if I need anything else (not even water). When I eventually got up and paid my bill (you have to go to the till; they don’t do it at your table), I was asked if the food was okay. When I gave my honest answer, no apologies offered either. The food — I ordered the Welsh au maroilles. It was so salty to the point of being inedible. I barely finished one-third of my plate. The salad was just bland and tasteless. The frites was probably the only saving grace but still nothing to write home about. Atmosphere - It’s all nice when it’s sunny but you get that everywhere else. So don’t bother here. Reminders (general): Despite all the above, if you still want to try this, make sure to reserve in advance. Places and restaurants get filled up easily in Lille. When sat outside, be prepared for secondhand smoke. Your coat, clothes and even your food will smell of secondhand smoke. People there will not be considerate of you even in restaurants.

Nice traditional atmosphere and generous portions, but food quality was inconsistent. Service was okay, though the ordering policy felt a bit strict. Worth trying for local dishes, but not a must-return spot.

I had a great experience at this restaurant! The food was delicious, and the portions were impressively large—definitely good value for money. The beer was tasty and paired perfectly with the meal. The staff were very welcoming and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend!

Fantastic guesthouse with excellent home-made fresh breakfast and very kind host. The room was clean, spacious and cozy. The bathroom was modern and functional. It was more than our expectation. We would definitely love to stay here again!

Sweet old restaurant in the old town of Lille. Food very local and cheese heavy. A bit too heavy for my taste but good and well prepared. Do not ask for bread lol.

This place was a nice surprise. Good local food. Don't expect anything refined. North French kitchen is food of the farmers and coal miners back in the day if I'm correct. I really loved the taste of everything. Good portions... Local wines.. Very much wat I like. To me it feld like a Christmas diner. The service was very efficient, friendly en Quik. No bs.. Make sure you have reservations. When we came in there was nobody there but within 15 min the whole place was full. Price was OK.

Great coffee! Lots of options for baked goods too. We went for a pistachio and orange blossom loaf cake. It was nice but wish we'd gone for their cheesecake! Definitely recommend a visit. They do brunch on the weekends which looks lovely but you have to book in advance. Take a look at their Instagram to see what food they have on offer each day as it seems to change a lot.

I was totally satisfied by the quality of the coffee. Milk was nicely steamed, and the cappuccino was served with latte art. My girl liked her lemonade as well. The barista was kind and attentive. We will definitely come back!

The pastries are phenomenal. The creme they put on the cinnamon roll was absolutely amazing. The pistachio pastry had an explosion of flavors. Loved it!

Nice option for gluten free, vegan pastries and coffee (they have flat white, chai latte and matcha). Pastries are beautiful but I often see them exposed in the vitrine with direct heat / sunlight and with flies sometimes on them. Also some of them have quite a strong taste of soda bicarbonate. Also it’s common in Lille, but a chai latte spices need to be boiled instead of infused in slightly hot water. In result we have pricey chai lattes with no taste 🥲 it looks beautiful though. Often it’s hard to find a place to sit because there are not a lot of places. One time I was waiting in a line for a long time and there was a last piece of cake left and a guy came from behind saying he wants this cake to go and they let him have it.

Delicious cake and coffee! My partner, who usually avoids vegan food, devoured the chocolate cake. The plant-based pumpkin cake was also very good. It was busy for a Sunday afternoon, but the tables turned around fairly quickly.

Very cute cafe with AMAZING cakes, delicious, moist, fresh and so many different options. My cappuccino was delicious to, they use a Marzocco Machine that is in my view the best of the best and my coffee and cake had edible flowers on them. Staff was super friendly and fun, good atmosphere and the place itself is cute with lots of flowers. 5 stars in my view and the cake with Matcha and black Sesame was insanely delicious as well as the fig tart.

The best of the best in vieux Lille! You have to try a petit pain au chocolates or a croissant ! You will be amazed! Unfortunately, it has only two tables outside and no space inside but you can grab something and continue wandering around the old town of Lille! The waitress didnt even give us a platter while we said we were eating here, but to the table next to us she did bring the food on a platter. So we had to eat it in paper bags. Rude and racist. Also weren’t allowed to use the bathroom. And the food isnt that good. Dont recommend.

We liked this small bakery a lot. They have a few numbers of tiny cakes & of course croissants which all look beautiful & taste really good. We tried their chocolate croissant & that tiny little treasure chest of a bakery (see from the pictures) and with the company of espresso, they made our day!

Les Petits Pouchins are incredible. The orange blossom cream is delicate and delicious. I've been both times I've visited Lille and they've been brilliant both times. A must try!

We came to this patisserie when we first arrived Lille. The cafe has a good variety of pastries, cakes & brioche. We tried a couple of pastries & found a lot of locals had slices of brioche bread with jam & cream. The pastries were decent though nothing spectacular. I must also warn against coffees as they are not what a serious coffee lover would expect.

A nice place to have pastries in Lille. To sit in the prices of the cakes are a lot more than to take out, still very nice but be careful. The tea was 5 euros each, however I cannot fault the food, the cheesecake was my favourite!

Gorgeous bakery! This is a beatiful bakery with goreous window displays, a comfortable dining area and lovely friendly staff. We wanted to try Le Mervilleux (the marvellous) but by the time we arrived at the bakery, all the chocolate ones were gone so we had to settle for one dusted with speculoos crumbs. The young man who waited on us told us it was his favourite - and he was right - it was just amaaaaaaaazing!!

Delicious. There are two doors. The main door is for choosing things to take away. There's a second, smaller door where you can go in and sit and order coffee and pastries as well as other specials. The menu was written on a black board on the wall. A great place to stop in and have a break.

I've been looking for Cinnamon Rolls in France for ages, then I found this lovely little bakery who makes Cinnamon brioches to order. It's still warm when I picked it up, it's so soft and delicious. I'll definitely come back.

A very nice tiny place. They have a large choice of teas and a bit less of other drinks. There've only vegan milk options if I'm not mistaken and the majority of pastries and desserts are made from gluten free flower, so you can eat it without guilt (at least, it's what I do). The toilet is clean and nice. And the nice thing is if you're taking your dessert away in your own container, they make a 10% discount (not a lot but still a pleasant thing).

Having arrived at Lille minutes before noon on a Sunday I had just enough time to visit before closing time. Luckily managed to grab the last vegan and gluten free pastry. I don’t know what it’s called, but it was beautiful, smooth, satisfying and well-worth hurrying there. Would definitely visit again on my future trips to the city.

We were in lille-flandres train station and saw Merveilleux bakery. We stopped in and got their chocolate bread load and it was so good, wished we got one w/nuts too. We also got the meringue cream it was light and yummy.

They have these amazing macarons sandwich kind of things with meringue on top. Must must try if you see this in France!

I tried their pastry for the first time, and it's absolutely delicious! The texture and flavors are excellent. Of course, it's sweet, so it's best enjoyed occasionally.

Best Chocolate Éclairs I ever had! It's a Chocolate lover heaven to eat this. The thin pastry is not dry and the Chocolate chilled cream tasted rich and not too sweet. This bakery has a wide selection of attractive breads and desserts. A difficult decision making process. I happy I came to this bakery and wish I've a bigger stomach to eat more.

The best boulangerie in Lille. From cakes, to breads and sandwiches - heaven. Only managed to take a photo as we were too absorbed in trying everything they had on offer. Do not miss it! We need to come back.

Definitely the best dark chocolate Elcair I have ever had and it’s better than the ones in Paris! Very smooth and chocolatey for dark chocolate lover like me while it’s not too sweet! The pastries here are all attractive and I had a hard time choosing! Finally we decided to visit here again today after our first visit yesterday as the food is truly excellent! Specially thanks to Vanessa who was very nice and explained the food very well in English on both visits. She also helped us to heat up the pastries and we were lucky to enjoy the food at the sofa seat. Great experience, highly recommended! Wish you can open a store in London! :)

The service was excellent, and I really enjoyed my vanilla flan and Earl Grey tea. The atmosphere, both inside and outside, was cozy and welcoming. Plus, the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended!

I’ve always wanted to try this bakery in Paris so I’m happy I finally got to try this bakery… in Lille! They say the Pistachio Roll and the Cruffin are the two most popular pastries. They also serve pretty good Babkas. I had the Flat which was excellent! I’m taking a star of because I was really looking forward to ordering bread, which they didn’t have, and it would be great if they upgraded their coffee game to specialty coffee (rather than rely on Nespresso). The bakery is worth a visit, even if it does give off ‘chain store vibes’ it’s some of the vest bread you can have.

Food was very average; both the entrecôte and the prime cut were very tough and everything was incredibly greasy. The stew of the day was dry and flavourless. Service was great, until we had a complaint and after that they were not interested. Overpriced and would not recommend.

Peaceful and warm atmosphere. The staff’s attention to details and meticulous care does not go unnoticed. When you order regardless of who comes to bring it they know who ordered what without asking. The food was excellent and arrived pretty fast. The only reason I don’t give 5/5 is that the appetiser could have used some lemon juice (salmon tartare) but it’s my personal taste. I had duck with green pepper sauce which was to die for. I got out full but not too much, calm and happy.

The place is nice. When you want to go out for a nice dinner, it's a nice place to go to. The day we went there, I think our server was not having the best day on his life. Not that it's not good. It's good. I think I was expecting great and didn't get it that day. But that was my dish. My friend's dish was AWEsome! He had the kidneys. We went for the cheaper set menu and that may have been a mistake. All courses underwhelming. ( And that was the response from 2 of the 4 of us) Mistakes made with our order ( may have been a translation issue) waiting staff didn't know certain dishes were sold out, service could have been more slick. Wine was great. Ambience could have been better. Ultimately not my kind of place.

Had a good experience at this Crêperie! The staff was really friendly and the level of english they spoke was good. The crepes were also amazing. Had to go with a basic ‘Crêpe with sugar and strawberries’, but besides that it was basic, it tasted amazing. Really recommending anyone to try this place out if you want a good experience with a traditional crêpe.

Superb crêpes restaurant in the old town. We were lucky to have a table on the terrasse, just outside the old building and on the paved courtyard - beautiful setting. Food is excellent (crepe complete is perfect!) and they have draught beer. Kids friendly (high chair, colour crayons etc.) - service was amazing, super nice waitress. Definitely recommend! Very good crepes, gets pretty busy, reservations strongly recommended We visited this restaurant during the heat waive and our preference would have been to sit outside, however, despite the fact that they have many tables in the little garden outside the restaurant, every single one was occupied. So, if one is particular in their preferences, it is better to make a reservation. We sat as close to an open window as we could get, to feel some circulating air. Our goal was to get a little dessert, so we were looking for something sweet. They do have a wide selection of both sweet and savory crepes. The crepes were good. We tried a simple apricot crepe, which was generously stuffed with jam. We also ordered Crunchy and Pain D’Epices. Everything was very tasty. We finished up our feast with some ice cream, which was also delicious. The whole bill was 23 euro. The service was not very friendly, and it took a bit to get our food. They were very busy that evening, though it was a Tuesday night.

Nice food... I highly recommend the menus they have as they can make you save good money and try more than one of their spécialités. My experience wasn't that pleasant because of the staff. We did arrive near the closing time (but not that close) and it just seemed our waiter didn't have a good day. I have heard about this place and I hope this was just "one of those days". Nice crepe place in the heart of the city. It has pizza and crepes. It isn't the cheapest but food is nice and the place is cosy. It is small and it has 2 floors with a spiral stair. During the week (not holiday) there is a special offer drink+crepe for 6.5€ from 16.00 to 18.00. Usual prices for crepe go from 3.9 to 5.9€. Drinks around 3 and 4€. Pizzas around 10€.

Tamper in Lille may have some of the best brunch dishes we’ve had. Everything was absolutely delicious and they are known for their good coffee here. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Lille!

One of the few options open early for us early risers. It was magnificent! So fresh, so flavorful. The staff were the sweetest. We enjoyed our breakfast immensely!

Cute brunch place on a charming street in Lille. Not a huge selection on the menu but what we had (egg & muffin, eggslut) and coffees were very good.

To be honest , I was very looking forward to visit this Michelin 1 start restaurant , but turn into quite disappointed in the end . The service is one man show , only one waitress to serve the whole night with 6 tables of guests , service woman is fine and friendly , even she is busy , but ok ! The problem is the food quality and the speed , it’s kind of rush ! Main course fish with raw cauliflower not only not tasteful but also not pretty presented!!After the not very pleasant and tasteful main course , comes old Yellowish Lettuce with cheese is getting difficult to accept !! ( see pic ) Whole night we never see the chef and as I said before , just one waitress ! Maybe the main Chef even not there ? As a Michelin star restaurant, we didn’t expect high class expensive materials , but with the price compared to what you have at the table , it’s quite a big disappointment!! At least the lettuce could be fresh and crisp !!

Had one of the most memorable dinners of the year in this place. Young chef combines flavours in a very creative, surprising way resulting in wonderfully tasty dishes. All-in formula offers excellent value for money. Service was friendly, efficient and relaxed.

I tried the smoothie bowl topped with granola, banana, kiwi, dark chocolate shavings, and strawberry swirl - refreshing, creamy, and so satisfying. But the highlight was the dreamy ice cream brioche sandwich dripping with rich chocolate sauce. It looked like a piece of art and tasted even better – indulgent and perfectly balanced. The friendly team and beautifully presented treats made this visit memorable. Highly recommend for a relaxed dessert break! 🍓🍫🍨

Worst Ice Cream Shop Ever I had a terrible experience at this ice cream shop. The staff were incredibly impolite and displayed racist behavior by serving other people before us, even though we were first in line. It was appalling. The hygiene standards were atrocious – one of the staff members wiped his hands on his clothes after touching the ice cream, and none of them wore gloves. They also spoke over the food while chatting with each other, which is highly unsanitary. We ordered classic cups of brownies, and they were extremely sweet to the point where you couldn't finish the cup without needing to drink water. The taste was extremely bad. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Avoid it at all costs.
