Tea house
MEERT, located in Roubaix, France, has a rich history dating back to 1849. The famous waffles from Meert have a long tradition and were even supplied to the royal family in nearby Belgium for a while. The shop on Rue Esquermoise not only offers delicious waffles but also houses a historic tearoom and a restaurant. Visitors can enjoy the delightful experience of tasting these renowned delicacies with a fascinating historical background.
We had to queue for about 20 minutes, but it is a lovely tea room and all the cakes looked amazing! I opted for hot chocolate & their famous filled waffles which were really good! I went back the next day and got some to take home! The vanilla one reminded me of a custard cream biscuit! I do wish I tried one of their cakes too!
Sophie F — Google review
Great place for photography. Ok stroopwaffles, nice location Méert Lille is pure old-world elegance — a place where history, craftsmanship, and indulgence come together beautifully. Stepping inside feels like entering a living postcard from another era, with its ornate interiors, charming service, and irresistible aroma of freshly baked treats. The signature gaufres (waffles) are ok… The pâtisseries and chocolates are equally ok…, each one crafted with remarkable finesse and balance. Pair them with a perfectly brewed coffee or tea, and it’s an experience that lingers long after you leave. Whether you’re here for a quiet afternoon indulgence or to pick up a beautiful gift box, Méert captures the timeless art of French sweetness. An iconic Lille institution — elegant, delicious, and unforgettable.
Rodney L — Google review
Very wonderful bakery shop / cafe like a creation of art. The displayed pastries were so perfectly arranged and looked delicious. The chandeliers, glass work enhanced the look of the boutique further. The open air garden cafe very nice , staff kind and polite , helpful. In the shop the goods are well displayed with price tags so easy to identify. The display shelves are so pretty and the colour combination very unique. Overall this is more like a pretty waffle or bakery museum and I loved my time here. I enjoyed vanilla waffle . Wanted to sit down in garden cafe so had also queued for the waiting line but it rained heavily suddenly so left in the middle and this time happy only with the wonderful waffle, will return next week or soon for a coffee and pastry .
Mamata B — Google review
Magnificent. If you’re visiting Lille and would like some exquisite pastries and sweets, then consider visiting Meert. It is much better than some of the other/more expensive tourist traps. It’s situated in a beautiful building, which has been decorated beautifully.
Dan — Google review
A true jewel in the heart of Lille! Meert is as much about the atmosphere as it is about the sweets. The interiors are simply breathtaking—opulent chandeliers, historic wooden decor, classical sculptures, and ornate ceilings that transport you to another era. Whether you’re seated inside the regal tea salon or strolling through their boutique, the ambiance is a visual feast. I tried the coffee and their signature vanilla and raspberry-filled waffles—a delightful treat that lives up to its reputation. The coffee was beautifully presented and smooth, and the raspberry waffle had just the right balance of tart and sweet. Perfect for a special outing or if you’re looking to indulge in a bit of old-world French charm. A must-visit if you’re in Lille.✨
Harshini K — Google review
How can this be anything but 5*? The pastries, the service, the setting, the shop, the history, everything is impeccable and the price point is reasonable. I think Meert may be a victim of its own reputation, as it is busy and people clearly expect perfection, but in our experience it lived up to it, and of all our culinary experiences in Lille this will be the one I remember forever.
Geoffrey B — Google review
The mille-feuille was absolutely delicious, and the éclair was good, but I didn’t really like the dark chocolate. I really enjoyed the waffle because it was unique and different from the usual. The atmosphere of the place was wonderful, and the best part was the excellent service. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it in time for lunch.
Mohammad S — Google review
The food here was decent – both the main course and dessert were fine, but nothing particularly memorable. What really took away from the experience, though, was the attitude of one of the staff members, who came across as quite arrogant. I was hoping for a warmer, more inviting atmosphere, but everything felt a bit cold and flat. For the price point, I expected better service and a more enjoyable overall experience.

Bakery
Aux Merveilleux de Fred, a renowned pastry shop that first opened its doors in 1997 in Lille, has now expanded to major cities worldwide due to the success of its original café. With three locations in Lille alone, including one just a 15-minute metro ride from Urban Campus Saint So Coliving, this bakery allows visitors to watch the skilled pastry chefs create their exquisite treats right from the street.
Look, I don't really like sweet stuff (I know that's a red flag) but look, if I enjoyed it, what are you still doing reading this and not buying things there? Basically I got a brioche with crystallised sugar in it and I had to give it to someone else for safe keeping because holy BRIOCHE it was unreal. Sweet, delicate, balanced, moreish. I miss it. I am glad I don't live in Lille because I don't think eating brioche every day is a great idea. But if I did, I'd do it here. They also do merveilleux as their name may suggest and I would say they are undoubtedly the best in Lille (they are also the only ones I had in Lille but double also they were amazing)
Will — Google review
We tried the dessert they are famous for. It was OK. It is still worth a try because the place itself is beautiful and the fact that they make the dessert in front of you is unique.
Cookie S — Google review
Very lovely place! Would definitely recommend going there. Tiny place but still a lot of great choices.
M. M — Google review
Although I'm not a big fan of their famous Le Merveilleux (personal preferences), this patisserie doesn't need any explanation. Their chocolate cramique (brioche with chocolate chips) is another one to taste. You can also the chefs working on their marvel!
Argun T — Google review
Delicious!!! But I do recommend eating the pastories as quick as possible. Also brioche au chocolat very good, and the Cream bun thingy was heavenly !
Katlijn N — Google review
It stands true to everything I've heard about this place! This is a small shop in the Vieux Lille That serves one of the best Merveilleux you can get out there! Plush interiors that exude that elegance, you'll be delighted as soon as you enter this shop. Several flavours of Merveilleux are available but I ordered the classic one. I loved it. 😋
Akash P — Google review
Went for the famous Merveilleux. Tried the chocolate and the vanilla, and Tammy enjoyed both. I wouldn’t go back for more, but I’m definitely happy to have tried them
Andy K — Google review
Stumbled upon this shop while on the way to the cathedral. Only for take away or sur place. I would recommend to get the brioche as it quite good (it is big so sharing is recommended). The rest for me was ok (pain au lait and merveilleux) but maybe it is just me. The staff was nice even though with limited English.

Collected some cakes to bring back to friends from a day in Lille. Wide selection of cakes (patisserie) in the shop. Great prices and really friendly staff. Would highly recommend.

Very good place to get sandwich and coffee. The pastries and criossants are quite fresh. The service is fast, and you get what you want pretty quickly despite the queue.
Ati — Google review
SO good, I ran here from the station between trains and it was well worth it. The fine apple tart in particular was perfectly crispy with great caremelisation and taste. The breads were stunning 😍
Toby C — Google review
🌞 A perfect start to the day at Boulangerie Mathieu 🇫🇷🥐 We just had breakfast at Boulangerie Mathieu and honestly… it was everything you’d hope a French bakery to be. The smell of fresh baguettes and buttery croissants hits you the moment you walk in — and yes, they taste even better than they smell. We tried the classic croissant au beurre, a pain au chocolat, and a quiche — all baked to perfection. Crispy on the outside, soft and airy on the inside. The coffee was rich and smooth, served with a smile by friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The vibe is cosy, local, and full of charm. You can tell this place is loved by both locals and visitors — and for good reason. It’s not just a bakery, it’s an experience. If you’re ever nearby, treat yourself to a slow morning at Boulangerie Mathieu. Sit down, sip your coffee, and let the world slow down for a moment. 🥖☕

My roommate was like “ at Mathieu you will always have a queue”. He was so right when I arrived and the expectations were high. I must say all the 3 deserts were really tasty, detailed and layered. My personal favourite is Royal Chocolat.

We found this place by pure chance. Had the croissant aux amandes (heaven!) and pain au chocoalt, and eclair to go. Everything tasted so good, crispy on the outside, melts inside, rich flavours, I just can't wait to go back there. Highly recommended!

It offers a short menu of pastries made from local and seasonal ingredients, combining both taste and aesthetics. The cozy tea room provides a space to enjoy these delightful treats or you can opt for takeout. One of their specialties is the 'Ptits Pouchins,' a choux pastry filled with vanilla and orange blossom cream.
I can not tell how much I loved the bakery/pastry shop. Amazing desserts!!! Amazing croissants. I came back and forth to eat more.

The best of the best in vieux Lille! You have to try a petit pain au chocolates or a croissant ! You will be amazed! Unfortunately, it has only two tables outside and no space inside but you can grab something and continue wandering around the old town of Lille! The staff is very friendly and the collection of desserts is state-of-art level. I totally recommend it 😊

The waitress didnt even give us a platter while we said we were eating here, but to the table next to us she did bring the food on a platter. So we had to eat it in paper bags. Rude and racist. Also weren’t allowed to use the bathroom. And the food isnt that good. Dont recommend.

Our previous visit included excellent pain, au chocolat, and delightful pastries. 😋🤤
Ruz G — Google review
We liked this small bakery a lot. They have a few numbers of tiny cakes & of course croissants which all look beautiful & taste really good. We tried their chocolate croissant & that tiny little treasure chest of a bakery (see from the pictures) and with the company of espresso, they made our day!

Classic patisserie. Made onsite. Very very nice.

Les Petits Pouchins are incredible. The orange blossom cream is delicate and delicious. I've been both times I've visited Lille and they've been brilliant both times. A must try!

Lovely and tasty pastries to start the day. Croissant was beautifully flaky. We don't recommend getting the coffee here as they have limited options. But it's obvious that their main selling points are the pastries.

The best plant-based (vegan) chocolate and almond crossaint I have ever tasted, trumping Paris & Bordeaux. I was so impressed by the array of choice! My partner also enjoyed the pain au chocolat and cookie. Staff were lovely and accommodating, too. Would love to return!
Philipa — Google review
Stopped here when passing through Lille because of other reviews mentioning vegan products. Unfortunately, there were no croissants or pains au chocolate (apparently they will again be available on the weekend), but there was a selection of beautiful vegan desserts, and vegan muffins with hazelnuts and dark chocolate. All things we tried were delicious! The shopkeeper was very polite and welcoming, too.

(Translated by Google) The traditional baguette is very good when it's a success. Unfortunately, it happens too often that the baguette is ordinary with a tight crumb, a crust that doesn't open. Is it a problem with the kneading, the rising, or the baking? I don't know, but I've had better at Brice's. The pastries, however, are delicious and of consistent quality. When will we see a consistent baguette? Oxalis et Bergamote is a charming tea room located on Rue d'Angleterre, run by the passionate duo Ingrid and Romain. The place has a raw and natural decor, offering delicious pastries made with ingredients from local producers. Their menu includes treats suitable for different dietary requirements such as vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free options. Some of their specialties include cookies, carrot cake, and financiers. Additionally, they offer a weekly takeaway brunch.
Came for the flan but surprised by the cinnamon roll! The scent of cinnamon is strong (which is better) and the size is larger than average ones. There are spices on top of the roll which gives a nice twist to the flavor. The flan is nice too but would prefer a denser texture.

Adorable and authentic patisserie. Best matcha latte I’ve had in ages. They don’t serve coffee and don’t have your typical French pastries like croissants but everything we tried was delicious. Would recommend the cardamom bun.

I've been looking for Cinnamon Rolls in France for ages, then I found this lovely little bakery who makes Cinnamon brioches to order. It's still warm when I picked it up, it's so soft and delicious. I'll definitely come back.

Loved it in here. Staff were lovely, spoke great English (and didn't laugh at my poor French). The cinnamon bun and moelleux (gluten free) were amazing and so tasty. The whole place is so well turned out and it just feels cool being in there. A must visit if you're nearby, a top spot for us

A very nice tiny place. They have a large choice of teas and a bit less of other drinks. There've only vegan milk options if I'm not mistaken and the majority of pastries and desserts are made from gluten free flower, so you can eat it without guilt (at least, it's what I do). The toilet is clean and nice. And the nice thing is if you're taking your dessert away in your own container, they make a 10% discount (not a lot but still a pleasant thing).

Having arrived at Lille minutes before noon on a Sunday I had just enough time to visit before closing time. Luckily managed to grab the last vegan and gluten free pastry. I don’t know what it’s called, but it was beautiful, smooth, satisfying and well-worth hurrying there. Would definitely visit again on my future trips to the city.

Nestled in the charming streets of Vieux Lille, Pâtisserie au Lion d'Or has been delighting locals and visitors alike with its exquisite gourmet cakes and pastries since 1996. This beloved artisanal shop, a staple for generations since the 1960s, offers a nostalgic experience as patrons indulge in sweet treats reminiscent of their childhood. Just a short stroll from public transport hubs, it's an essential stop on your culinary journey through Lille.
The cramique au pepites du chocolat is full of chocolate, maybe one of the best we tried in Lille. Also it was very fresh and much heavier than the ones found in other shops, 7€ ( a bit more expensive) but worth it in my opinion

Amazing, Just amazing. A short walk from the metro. 10mins walk from Central station. 25 mins walk from International station. Well worth it. You will pass many Patisseries but make this main stop. Quality. We arrived a little after 1pm having had dinner and a beer at Le Tavern. Short walk through the narrow streets you arrive here at this Patisserie. As we arrived after 1pm 40% of items still left. But still enough choice. I bought the Brownie... Ultra Nice . And 4 Mixed chocolate eclairs boxed and taken home back to England. 5 Stars. Great staff that understand a little English and services was great. Boxed . Not that busy 4 deep queue but loads of staff. Make this a stop.

L'impertinente is a quirky and colorful tearoom in Lille, known for its gourmet housemade cakes, pastries, and flavored teas. The establishment prides itself on its offbeat humor and communication style, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere for visitors to enjoy their delicious sweet treats. With two salons in Lille, patrons can also order their delectable pastries directly from the website.
TL;DR - Delicious baked goods and tea selection, cute merch, and roomy toilets with a very clean baby changing station. Very small and cozy cafe — there are only 8 tables inside and 1-2 outside — so when it’s full, it’s full, though people seem to enjoy taking baked goods to-go just as much (and the takeaway boxes are VERY cute)! There was a lovely selection of cakes, cookies, and other desserts, and the teas are quite nice as well. The server brought us our tea in lovely silver teapots, and an eclectic mix of plates and mugs is used for everything else. Around the front window are postcards, mugs, pouches of tea, and other merch for sale. The entrance was a bit difficult to navigate with a stroller; I had to disassemble and reassemble it to take it up the few steps to the front door. Once inside though, I left my stroller intact, and while the interior of the place is small, there was surprisingly enough room to keep the stroller next to the table without other folks having to squeeze to get past it. When I went to the toilet to wash my hands, I found that the space was surprisingly large and equipped with a changing station in the corner.

Would give zero stars if could. We booked in advance and turned up on time but there was a big queue of people buying cakes. Staff member tried to sit us next to a monsieur when all other tables were empty (frankly bizarre) then told us we would have to order at the counter but there was no menu on the table to choose from. When waiting to be served, Madame served a man who had come into the shop after us and there were 4 or 5 people in the queue after him, so we left. We then had a delicious sandwich and cake served by a delightful man who clearly cared about customer service across the road in Le Petit Pain!

Cold hospitality + greasy and heavy cakes L'accueil froid + gâteaux lourds et écoeurants Been welcomed by a male employee who looked so ignorant and seemed to have a preference for some clients only. All the bakeries looked nice but actually too sweet and heavy: the lime cheesecake was too creamy even for a cream lover like me couldn't bear their over-creamed recipe; the shortbread was tasteless but sprinkled by heavy chocolate caramel which made the shortbread too sweet. The coffee was as well too creamy and greasy. Eating at this place made me nauseous.

I’ve always wanted to try this bakery in Paris so I’m happy I finally got to try this bakery… in Lille! They say the Pistachio Roll and the Cruffin are the two most popular pastries. They also serve pretty good Babkas. I had the Flat which was excellent! I’m taking a star of because I was really looking forward to ordering bread, which they didn’t have, and it would be great if they upgraded their coffee game to specialty coffee (rather than rely on Nespresso). The bakery is worth a visit, even if it does give off ‘chain store vibes’ it’s some of the vest bread you can have.

(Translated by Google) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "An artisan bakery like no other: quality, hospitality, and expertise are all there" I've been going to this bakery for several months now, and I must say that every time I visit, I'm won over by the quality of the products, the warm welcome, and the authentic atmosphere. It's not just a place to buy bread; it's a true daily pleasure, a ritual I wouldn't miss for the world. --- 🥖 Exceptional bread, with an inimitable taste The bread here is simply fabulous. Baked on-site every day, it's always perfectly golden, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The traditional baguette is my favorite: it has that subtle sourdough flavor, a well-dimpled crumb, and a crust that sings when you break it. You can tell the flours are carefully selected, the fermentation is respected, and each loaf is the result of true artisanal expertise. Their range is very diverse: wholemeal, grain, corn, rye, einkorn, country, and rustic breads... There's something for everyone, and each variety has its own personality. And above all: it's still good the next day, which isn't always the case. --- 🥐 Viennese pastries and pastries worthy of the finest establishments It's impossible not to mention the pastries, which are a real treat. The croissant is light, just the right amount of butter, and perfectly flaky. The pain au chocolat is generous, with two melt-in-the-mouth bars. A special mention goes to the apple turnover, made with real homemade compote! And what about the pastries? Each cake is a work of art. I tasted their lemon meringue pie, their chocolate éclair, and their millefeuille: marvels of precision and flavor. Not too sweet, always balanced, with perfect textures. You can tell everything is homemade, without cheating, with quality products.

We came to this patisserie when we first arrived Lille. The cafe has a good variety of pastries, cakes & brioche. We tried a couple of pastries & found a lot of locals had slices of brioche bread with jam & cream. The pastries were decent though nothing spectacular. I must also warn against coffees as they are not what a serious coffee lover would expect.

La Clé par Auguste & Ferdinand in Lambersart is a delightful haven for food lovers, where everything is crafted from scratch. This charming bakery not only serves up mouthwatering burgers with homemade sauces and fries but also takes pride in its exceptional burger buns, which are supplied to various restaurants across the Lille metropolis. Visitors can indulge in one of their three fresh burger options, all bursting with flavor.
Incredible croissants, desserts and pain au Chocolat. Cannot go wrong if you're in the area. I have sampled numerous boulangeries within the area and this has come out as one of the top. You will not regret it. Edit: came back next day and got a ham and cheese sandwich (hot) and it was incredible. Beats every sandwich I've got in England. Thank you team for making me the happiest Brit in France and farewell.

I buy my bread only here when I can. I'm very picky about the quality of the food in general and the bread here is one of the best that I have tasted in my life. It's cooked on a wooden fire and it's quite heavy. The prices are quite low for this quality of ingredients. The stuff is very nice 😊 They have also one of the best olive oil I've ever tasted in my whole life (confirmed by my Italian friend). It's brought directly from Greece from its producer.

The most beautiful, authentic and artisan bakery😍😍 I’m in love, you can see that they are homemade with love runned by a family. And the prices😱 it’s the first time in France that I’m not overcharged for a pain chocolat!! Thank you to the owners for letting us taste the culture at a reassuring price

In addition to their beautiful appearance, the cakes are also praised for their delicious flavors. Absolutely stunning cakes and presentation. As well as being beautiful, the cakes are also delicious. We tried a moon which was with pecan and the cloud which was coconut and mango. Both were amazing, very light and not too sweet. The amount of work that obviously goes into them absolutely justifies the prices which are slightly higher than a normal pâtisserie. The ladies in the shop were very friendly and happy to explain all the different products. A great discovery for cakes for a special occasion or a gift.

Le Pain Quotidien is a charming cafe located in one of Lille's beautiful city squares. They offer a menu with items prepared in-house, including breads, preserves, and desserts. The cafe emphasizes organic fruits and vegetables as well as locally sourced products. While it may seem like a bakery, Le Pain Quotidien also serves excellent breakfast options and opens early in the morning to accommodate guests. Visitors can expect friendly service and delicious food, such as the highly recommended mini pancakes.
We loved our breakfast here. We were looking for something healthy, with vegan options and hit gold with this spot. The coffee was also nice - came in very large mugs but that was appreciated! It felt like a calm way to start the day and overall a great experience.
Rosanne K — Google review
I visited Le Pain Quotidien recently, the café has a lovely, cozy atmosphere with warm lighting and comfortable seating — a great place to relax or catch up with friends. The staff were kind and attentive, and the service was quick and friendly, which definitely added to the positive vibe. That said, the food itself was visually appealing but quite average in taste. I tried the pancakes with yogurt and berry sauce, French toast with fresh fruit, and a simple breakfast plate with egg, bread, and butter — everything looked great on the plate, but flavor-wise, nothing stood out. It felt a bit underwhelming, especially considering the price point. The coffee and strawberry shake were decent, but again, nothing particularly memorable. If you’re going mainly for ambiance and a relaxed setting, it’s a nice spot. But if you’re looking for a food experience that’s flavorful or unique, you might find it a bit underwhelming. Overall, a pleasant place for a casual brunch, but more for the vibe and service than the food itself.
Harshini K — Google review
Le Pain Quotidien is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. My first experience was in Manhattan, so naturally I look for one every time I am in a new city. Luckily, Lille accommodated - perfect little spot and relaxed, slow service - exactly what you’d expect on vacation. For travelers learning French, the staff were very kind as I tried to order in French and felt comfortable asking for help with words I didn’t know.
Krystal G — Google review
I usually just pass through Lille on my travels, but this time we spent the night—and I’m so glad we did. In the morning, I was really craving that cozy, classic French “croissant and coffee” moment. I started walking through the city centre and stumbled upon this charming little spot. The pastries in the window looked so beautiful, I couldn’t help but walk in. I'm Polish, I don’t speak French (though I’ve tried—unsuccessfully!), but I was greeted by Frida, who spoke the most lovely English. She was incredibly kind and patient, and her warmth instantly put me at ease. It truly meant so much. I had a lot of anxiety about visiting France, but places like this made me feel genuinely welcome and safe—like I belonged. Frida gently let me know there was a small extra charge to sit in and made sure I was comfortable with that, which I really appreciated. I said yes and ordered an oat milk latte and a hibiscus croissant. She even gave me a little milk chocolate on the side. Everything was absolutely delicious—made with care, and you could feel it. Thank you again for such a warm welcome. Your kindness touched my heart and will stay with me for a long, long time.
RawJola — Google review
We chose this place because it has clearly labelled vegan items on the menu. We were hoping for croissants but they were all out (we visited around 3:30pm). I ordered soup of the day and despite constantly checking with the staff that everything ordered was vegan, soup was served with dairy butter on the side, which was not reassuring. Furthermore, I expected the soup to be served with fresh sourdough bread and/or baguette, as the menu indicates. Instead, it came with a large handful of ‘homemade croutons’ which were unseasoned dry bread and tasted very stale. The serving staff were very friendly and patient but we were disappointed by the unclean tables and menu cards.
Mateja P — Google review
I ordered a salmon and tuna salad to take away. It was €15. It literally had €3 worth of ingredients (more like a cold side salad), and I waited for over 10 minutes. Very very disappointed. I won’t be coming back. The lady who served me was nice though.
Natasha W — Google review
It's very quiet today but the service is really bad. Was seated at a messy table. My friend is vegan and the server didn't know if any of the soups were vegan or not. I order the miso salmon and the bowl came without the salmon. And the toilets are very dirty and one of the doors don't lock properly. With the price your paying for mediocre food I feel you have at least good service.
Suleman — Google review
Food was a disaster; eggs from powder, dry and COLD. Even though the butter was mentioned as a part of a breakfast set, I needed to ask for bringing it. The bread was dry and in the set they are not giving even the smallest leaf of salad. The avocado in the set of my friend was mostly unripe hence half of it uneatable. When I complained about the eggs, the writer seemed a bit irritated with me. I ate here 2 years before and was much better, now I will be eating next door where prices are the same, but food much better quality.

PAUL is a popular spot for many, with some having fond memories of stopping by for snacks like petits pains au chocolat. While the staff at certain locations may not be as friendly, others have had positive experiences with delicious food and helpful English-speaking staff. The bakery offers a great selection of baked goods, particularly sweet treats, and is worth trying out at various outlets throughout the city center. Overall, many have enjoyed their tasty offerings and would recommend giving them a try.
The beverage and food were decent while the service was found great, friendly and helpful! Highly recommended to enjoy the view of the opera. 👍

Great food. Not too busy at breakfast time. View from the pavement was good. Food was delicious. Staff could speak English and were very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of outlets throughout the city centre and all definitely worth a try.

Let me start first with the fact that I grew up with Paul being part of my almost daily routine, as I would stop for a snack there! My memories of petits pains su chocolat were in my mind unlike any other. Going back, I would say that the staff at this location is very nice, however that is not true for every location. I went to dive in at the one in Westfield Mall and they were very very rude and would never go back to that one. So I understand the low rating! Their hot cocoa is delicious when they make sure it’s hot! I love the ham and cheese sandwich, their artisanale baguette and the chocolate tart! The rest is average! We still go at least 2 times a week while in Lille.

Incredible overpriced. Very little help for people that cannot understand french so you end up paying 20 euros for 2 coffers 2 sandwiches and one slice of cake. I do find it quite costly. Add to that that the lady that serve me was less that interested in help me in any way. No toilet on place and the umbrella of the terrace was broken so half of the terrace had an unbearable sun. they should be clear of what they offer or at least try to be nicer. Amazing fresh bakery. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food tastes amazing. Macarons are huge. €12 for coffee, pain au chocolate and a macaron which I think is reasonable

We visited this place as tourists, but the quality of service and taste was very poor. One staff member didn't know which glass to serve a double espresso in. As a result, the coffee quickly went cold. We bought croissants, chocolate croissants, and cookies, but they delivered them on a napkin. I repeatedly asked for a plate in English, but they didn't understand. Only after using the translator they gave us a coffee cup plate. Even though it was morning, the patisseries were stale. Our visit was a complete disappointment.

Delicious pastries! Stopped by here while exploring Lille to grab some goodies to take back home with us (to Belgium). Saw canelés in the window and had to stop! Very yummy!! Also got a couple croissants, beignets au chocolat, and a palmier au chocolat 😋 If I'm ever in the area again I'm definitely stopping back by! That palmier was AMAZING and the canelés were exactly what I was hoping for! Yummy yummy! (All minus the fudge in the photo with the goodies spread out)

We made a stop for hot chocolate and crepes here today and it was a delight. The crepes station is outside where a colleague makes it in front of you and you can select the flavours and add-ons etc. The outside seating is good but foot traffic makes it in to the area as it's not properly cordoned off. The pricing is ok, similar to the prices at Pauls in UK.
Sanka I — Google review
This was surprisingly one of the worst Paul cafes that we have ever visited. We thought that this place would be unique, especially that it is located in Lille-Centre. The stinky odor that you smell upon entering the café is unbearable. Their pastries are nothing exceptional for the price. Everything is overpriced, and they charge you extra if you choose to dine-in, though they don't provide any dine-in services (no toilets as well) . Their tables are very dirty, we could not find a clean table to sit and no one has bothered to clean any of the tables throughout the whole time that we sat down. They are definitely not cleaning their tables regularly, which poses many questions about the safety of their sanitary measures, especially in those critical times of the Covid19 pandemic. I don't recommend this place at all!

The café also offers an array of food and drink options, including discounted baked goods from the previous day. With indoor and outdoor seating available, it's an ideal place to relax and savor delicious pastries while enjoying coffee.
The atmosphere here was absolutely wonderful. It was cozy, charming, and full of character. What really stood out to me was the bread. It was noticeably better than what I’m used to in the United States, with a richer flavor and perfect texture. It didn’t have that heavy, overly processed taste I often find back home. Instead, it was clean, light, and delicately flavorful. If I visit Lille again, I will definitely be coming back.

A very charming little French café with a fantastic selection of both sweet and savory treats! It’s a great spot for either a quick snack or a more relaxed lunch. You can conveniently order and pay at the table via QR code, or head inside to be inspired by the wide variety on display. The staff are peaceful, friendly, and quick.

i was really disappointed, this place looked so cosy - and it was. but the food wasn’t great. i got the pancakes with maple syrup and fresh fruits. i doubt the pancakes were homemade (if the were, they had been baked earlier). there was way too much syrup, which made the pancakes all soggy and cold. and the presentation was terrible - it looked like they just smashed on a cup of fruit. really disappointed bc this seemed like a great place, really cosy to sit, but the lack of presentation ruined it for me. it didn’t look appetising ar all. i can’t believe i paid 3 euros extra for that fruit :( to be honest, the fresh orange juice tasted like it was store bought too. i don’t think they squeeze their own oranges. one thing i did like was a little sweet pastry that you get with your coffee. it was really, really tasty. i would get this on the go. but no pancakes anymore.
Zoey — Google review
This bakery really impressed us! The croissants were everything you’d hope for crispy, light, airy, and super fresh. The pain au chocolat was just as delicious. You can tell they care about quality. They also have a great selection of breads, and everything runs smoothly thanks to their very organized system. It made the whole experience pleasant from start to finish. Definitely a place I’d go back to for a proper croissant fix.

Beautiful authentic place with a big selection of different sweet and savoury pastry. 🥖🥐🥮 I absolutely loved the possibility to order via machine. ✔️ Staff was very friendly. ✨️ I had sweet pastry (croissant and pain au chocolate), it wasn't that crispy as expected, but I bought one chocolate piece as take away and was delicious. 💎

I visited Mamatté Boulangerie Café in Lille for brunch and loved the warm, laid-back ambiance. The rustic walls, cozy lighting, and welcoming decor create a perfect setting to unwind. I ordered the Croissant Benedict with salmon, and it was absolutely delightful — buttery croissant, perfectly poached egg, rich hollandaise, and the freshness of smoked salmon all in one bite. The avocado toast with salmon and soft-boiled egg was equally flavorful and beautifully presented. Their coffee was smooth and comforting, and the slice of cake we had on the side hit the sweet spot just right. What made the visit even more special was the incredible service - each person on the team was friendly, helpful, and happy to walk us through the menu. Their warm energy makes this not just a great brunch spot, but also an ideal place if you’re looking to bring your laptop and get some quiet work done. A must-visit café in Lille for brunch lovers, coffee seekers, and anyone who enjoys honest food served with care.

Had this bakery saved since every time we pass by there’s always customers in there. We got a Mille feuille and tarte tropizienne which were not bad but the baguette was sadly rock hard, likely because it wasn’t fresh from the same day :( didn’t try the viennoiseries though so maybe we’ll give that a go next time!

I have tried Mille Feuille and chocolate tart. They are delicious. As an Asian, the dessert in Europe is mostly too sweet for us. But these two desserts are just perfect sweet. The tart is crunchy, the filling chocolate is silky and at the same time dry because of the powder on the top. Just the right combination of taste.

THE covered market of Lille. Great local products such as cheese, bread, wine, meats, and some prepared food. There are stalls that have been there for years and new market entrants doing creative things with the local products. This is well worth a visit. The hours have change and they are open later than they have been historically to cater to a wider audience. In my mind, this is a most see. If you want to eat food on the spot, go around noon. Paolina boulangerie, located near the train station, offers a perfect spot to take a break and relax in their quiet upstairs room. Their hot chocolate and chocolate choux pastry are delightful treats that come at an affordable price. The friendly saleswoman ensures a pleasant experience for customers in the downtown area. Additionally, they offer a variety of options, including marinated chicken baguettes that are reasonably priced and satisfyingly portioned.
Friendly service and great almond filled croissant. Not to sweet, and soft.

I got a Too good to go. The woman was not very kind, as she entered she asked to stand on the entrance carpet because she had just washed the floor. Then the food inside was a good quantity but for the most part it was really 3/4 day old products.

It’s ok. I live very close and often get sandwiches here. Sometimes the employees are friendly, some less so. I’ve been in twice recently 8 months pregnant and the young female working is completely unhelpful. I explained that I couldn’t eat a few things due to being pregnant and she basically said to go somewhere else because she couldn’t be asked to make a sandwich. That’s too bad especially when I’m your neighbor. But some people who work here are ok. It’s hit and miss.

(Translated by Google) I stopped by this afternoon to pick up 6 chocolate rolls and 2 croissants, and I was disappointed with the quality! The quality is really hit and miss at this bakery. It probably depends on the baker that day. It's getting harder and harder to find a good bakery these days. So, I don't know who made the pastries, but the croissants were overcooked, the rolls tasteless, and they were too compact, like eating breadcrumbs! What's more, when I got home for my children's snack, the egg wash had fallen to the bottom of the paper bag. Edited on 11/13/24 Thank you for your feedback, but I don't think I'll be coming back to your bakery and risk wasting another 9 euros to have one of your bad days again. Humans are not robots. But know that the basis of a good bakery is bread and pastries and you have to be consistent at least on these products otherwise you have to change profession.

But when I got home, the first bite was met with an unusual smell and that famous "too long in the fridge" taste. A real taste of the past. Honestly, if I'd wanted that taste, I would have gone to see my ex... but no, it was definitely the taste of your €3.70 pastry. And as a bonus, the Nutella muffin I had had exactly the same problem. Honestly, how can you sell that without even tasting your products? It's like you're trying to poison your customers. And to think I'd already promised myself I'd never come back, after the almost €5 sandwiches where three miserable pieces of filling fought a duel... (Translated by Google) I find it hard to understand why there are so many negative reviews, yet the bakery is always full, we queue and the stalls are empty in the evening. So yes, you can come across pastries, dry viennoiseries at the end of the day, but it's the same everywhere. So yes, it's more expensive on average because it's not a baking point, there are employees and apprentices who are constantly trained, the products are bought locally. As for the welcome, here again I was unlucky because I came across the manager who is very friendly. If the staff talks with the customers then the grumpy ones will say they are waiting too long, if they don't talk then we talk about the bad welcome. Let's be indulgent, because we are not friendly every day either. Otherwise I tried the small cafeteria set up in the bakery, it is very nice and cozy.

I highly recommend it. ❤️ (Original) J'y suis allé Lundi pour commander un gâteau d'anniversaire (litchi Framboise 8 parts 😋). Récupéré aujourd'hui. Nous avons été ravis. Je recommande vivement. ❤️

We remain loyal to you, and you have a magnificent working tool. We would be sorry to lose you. (Translated by Google) A Saint Honoré for 12, beyond the 10 maximum: Service and quality. Savory petits fours always up to the original standard. Delicious filled waffles. A Merveilleux and a Moka to discover. A Paris Brest that Le Point magazine didn't see fit to include in its best of France! Even though it's definitely worth a try. In short, expertise and consistency over forty years deserve respect. Congratulations. Keep it up.

Really friendly staff and amazing bakery. Love this coffee and croissant. Really lovely lemon meringue tart. But it doesn’t open on sundays.

Warm service but eclair was dry and lemon tart was just okay. Decent if you need a quick breakfast. Formule Express (Croissant/Pain + Espresso/Americano) for 2EUR.

(Translated by Google) We ordered our Christmas cake from Mondélice Cakes and we enjoyed it! In addition to a very pretty decoration, the quantities are generous and the taste was very appreciated by the whole family. Don't hesitate to stop by and taste one of its magnificent cupcakes: succulent and soft in the middle, it's a real pleasure! A warm and welcoming address to which we will return regularly (Original) Nous avons commandé notre gâteau de Noël chez Mondélice Cakes et nous nous sommes régalés ! (Translated by Google) A quality presentation and nothing to complain about. But the presentation does not make the whole cake at least edible. It had no taste, the buttercream was so thick that it must have been stifling (I left it out for 30/40 minutes before eating). The whole cake was really bad. I had to throw it all away because none of my guests wanted to eat it. Extremely disappointed with the service. I got some great photos but the taste leaves something to be desired and even a supermarket cake tastes better. An inedible cake if you're looking for a good cake I don't recommend it and you just want something beautiful 🤷🏾‍♀️ (Original) Une présentation de qualité et rien à redire.

(Translated by Google) Very beautiful presentation, but taste to throw in the trash. We called on this company to make a wedding cake, but at 9 of us, we left 3/4 of the cake. Out of respect for everyone reading this comment (and your guests), I strongly recommend that you avoid this place and make an apple pie out of respect for your guests, they will be even happier! Edit following response: Hello, I see that indeed the ingredients are rather basic, it is all the more incomprehensible. The room temperature time was respected, that's not the problem. Following my comment, a person contacted me out of fear for her wedding cake, she tried it anyway and told me that the weeding cake was "passable" on the big day (for a wedding, passable is...) and the next day, inedible. You can therefore add to your message during the passage that it is imperative to eat everything the same day when removing the cake, and above all do not try to keep it for one day. And no thanks for coming back, it’s still nice of you to offer.

Very beautiful decor, cozy cocooning and the pastries and chocolates as good to the eye as to the taste. I recommend this place 200%. The finesse of the decorations, the subtlety of the tastes, they were light, airy and absolutely magnificent!! A treat as much for the eyes as for the taste buds!! In short, they made our guests and ours happy!! We will recommend with our eyes closed!! (Translated by Google) I absolutely do not recommend the Letter Cake, magnificent presentation but then the taste, a disaster, dry biscuit (very hard to cut), strawberry jam inside the cake (an aberration), inedible butter cream. Nobody liked it, the cake ended up in the trash, just beautiful for the photos. Fortunately I had planned a homemade one otherwise we would have had nothing to eat. In a word disappointed. Only one star for the owner who was very accommodating in removing the cake (outside the scheduled time).

(Translated by Google) Inedible!! :/ First of all I was extremely disappointed!! I came for my wedding, I wanted a wedding cake... I ordered a trial of 10 pieces with the same decoration and taste as for the big day. So as agreed, I go to collect my reservation and there I see written on the door “I'll be back soon” ... Well, no worries, we wait... We waited 1 hour and 10 minutes in front of the door. So we get the cake and during our exchanges this person was disrespectful towards my mother who was with me.... We still take the cake having paid for it in advance. The cake was pretty, I can't say otherwise, but it was inedible!! The cream was horrible, hard and not edible and there was almost nothing inside, not even ganache, nothing, a few tiny pieces of mango and a little passion but not generous at all!!! There were 9 of us for the occasion for the snack, no one ate it!!! A real disappointment! We did well to have a taste before I would have found out on the wedding day I would have cried!!! (Original) Immangeable !!
