Gien Jia is a modern, industrial-style restaurant that offers a diverse range of Western-inspired dishes and beverages. The establishment recently hosted an event featuring chefs from various trendy restaurants and bars, showcasing their specialty cuisines. Notably, The Lookout Bistro & Bar presented the preparation of grazing black pig Tomahawk with pomelo pepper chicken sauce, while MUO Steakhouse demonstrated the creation of crispy quail pie - both exclusive to the event.
Great food, good company, good wine, great service, big improvement from last visit. New menu created with well balanced flavors, a well executed cuisine happy to find here in Kaohsiung. Lots of dishes ordered to sample. Full marks and recommended. 👍🏻👍🏻
Alex B — Google review
Personally, I think this restaurant has a great atmosphere with its industrial-style decor. I particularly enjoyed the paintings featuring food and the warm glow of the dim yellow lighting. However, the food tastes average, and I don’t believe it is worth the price. Tuna with Bread ★★★★★ The bread was perfectly toasted, releasing a delightful aroma that enhanced the eating experience. The tuna sauce, made with both tuna paste and raw tuna, paired wonderfully with the bread. Grilled Oysters ★★★★★ This was the best appetizer we ordered. Each oyster costs only 65 NT dollars, yet they were fresh and paired perfectly with the cheese. Seafood Pasta ★ Although it included a variety of fresh seafood like shrimp, clams, and scallops, the linguine was hard, and the flavors didn’t complement the seafood. Warm Roasted Duck Breast ★ This dish was difficult to chew, because it had many sinews. The waiter explained that they intentionally chose a part with more sinews, but perhaps they should remove them to make the price of this meal more reasonable. Coconut Milk Latte ★ The flavor of this beverage was a bit off—too bitter and too sweet. The sugar didn’t mask the bitterness of the coffee; instead, it seemed to make it even stronger. Pineapple Cake ★ This dessert looked delicate, but the best part was the crispy cookie on top. The cake itself tasted average and lacked creativity in its flavor and shape.
任羿 — Google review
The meals are really good and the kitchen is professionnel . However the service is awful: our wine for the appetizers arrived after we finished them and they served the main course with the appetizers. As a result the lamb was cold when we started eating it. The service is not at the level of this good restaurant. Definitely not for picky eaters.

Overall this is more of modern style cooking. They may not hit the mark for a 5 but it is a solid 4 and I liked it. Well worth visiting this place.

檸檬冬瓜很出乎意料的好喝。食物也很棒,從前菜到甜點都有讓人驚艷的亮點,補足了從點菜系統到服務流程的諸多奇怪體驗。 [Good Food and Beverage, awkward and stammered service and terrible ordering system] Gourd lemon is surprisingly refreshing, food is great too, from appetizer to dessert gave me a WOW. It covers the flaws from robotic service and bizarre sequence of serving: first guest arrive on-time, request if we could swap to a bigger table, the staff said yes at first, after changing to the other table, staff said bigger table is reserved. But til the end of day, no guests occupying that reserved table. When late coming guest arrived, even though they have been notified the table number and location, staff insists holding them tick the reservation full name and give some minor reminders. Ordering system is utterly user-unfriendly. Some items gone from the order received by kitchen. Changing quantity of drinks also very hectic and came out wrongly. Therefore we have to place the other order manually, at the end it came out 2 different size of same drink with same price. Serving sequence is irregular: pasta came prior to appetizer, then the drinks, other appetizer, followed by other entree, then the other long wait for risotto. Generally staff are friendly and refill water frequently, that’s why even though the overall customer experience is odd, still appreciated.
Tse D — Google review
Overall, I wanted to love this place, but there were a few issues that really impacted my experience. Be warned that your favorite dishes might not be available, not even seasonal offerings that could be sold out quickly. The biggest problem was the incredibly slow service. It took over half an hour just to receive our salads after ordering! We had to repeatedly ask for our drinks. Wine variety wasn’t much as thought, though by the glass quality wasn’t bad. The QR code ordering system needs a serious upgrade. Its outdated design and lack of user-friendliness don’t help our already understaffed team. In fact, it adds to their workload. The overall dining experience was frustrating and fell short of expectations.
小司Charlene — Google review
Nice place, good food and a comfortable atmosphere. The service is friendly and good, however we’ve had to wait for more than an hour to get our food served and after about 45min we’ve been told that some of the ordered dishes were out. Yes, they did try to compensate us with free desert and in between served salads as apology. Therefore I had to give 3 stars for the service. Yes, they’ve handled the situation well, but could manage it better by planning ahead with available portions. As the entire order has to be done online via QR code. So, such things can be planned and no over ordering can occur.
Hans D — Google review
Will definitely revisit this restaurant if I am going Kaohsiung. Food was exceptional with fresh ingredient and amazing flavouring. Unlike normal western restaurant, the dishes seemed to have fusion with Taiwanese style that the taste could not be commonly found. Waitress was friendly and proactively recommend menu to us which was nice. Best to make reservation in advance, not easy to get a seat even during working days.

Restaurant
Gang Yuan Beef Noodle Restaurant in Kaohsiung is a must-visit for beef noodle enthusiasts. With over 60 years of history, this restaurant offers a unique take on the classic dish. The signature beef noodles feature thick and tender Australian beef in an original recipe broth that boasts a deliciously intense flavor. Priced at 110 NTD per bowl, the dish includes springy noodles and generous portions of flavorful beef in a clear soup.
Came around 7pm and there was along queue but it went by very quickly. They have a small menu so it’s easy to choose from. The portions are big and everything came quickly. They have spice and garlic sauces at every table. Highly recommend if you’re in the area. Cash only.
Alexis B — Google review
This bowl of beef noodle soup is truly impressive. The broth is beautifully clear with a deep amber hue and carries a natural sweetness—likely from slow-simmered vegetables or fruit—that gives it a rich yet refreshing flavor. It’s smooth, well-balanced, and incredibly easy to drink. The beef is tender and flavorful, cooked to perfection with just the right amount of chew. Each piece soaks up the broth’s essence, making every bite satisfying. The noodles are springy and firm, pairing perfectly with the soup and enhancing the overall experience. There’s no need for extra seasoning—the original flavor stands strong on its own. What makes this bowl stand out is the distinct sweetness in the broth: gentle, comforting, and absolutely memorable. A dish worth coming back for.

This Beef Noodle is a MUST-TRY! 🔥🍜 If you're in town, you absolutely HAVE to try the beef noodles at 港園牛肉麵! 🤤 This is a legendary local spot for a reason. The broth is incredibly rich and flavorful, and the beef is fall-apart tender. Just pure comfort in a bowl. Heads up on the process: you order and pay with cash right at the entrance, then snag a table. It's super efficient! We went on a Monday around noon and still had a 15-20 minute queue, so this place is clearly loved by locals. Try to go during off-peak hours if you're in a rush! 🏃‍♂️💨 The portions are perfect for one person, and the price is very reasonable for the quality. 👍 Don't sleep on the side dishes! The cubed tofu and cured cucumber were the perfect companions to the rich noodles. 🥒 Pro-tip: you can grab a drink from the ice tea shop next door to bring in with you! My only small warning: it can get pretty warm inside! 🥵 On a super hot day, it can be a bit of a sweaty experience. But honestly, for noodles this good? I'd do it all over again. The food is just that worth it. ❤️
Nont A — Google review
Worth going! Probably the best beef noodle I’ve had so far — high-quality beef, flavorful and tender. The broth is amazing, rich but not greasy. Don’t miss the fresh chili paste — it adds the perfect kick and enhances the beefy aroma even more. Also, the restaurant is clean and comfortable.
May S — Google review
Real enjoyed the beef noodle here. Soup is lighter than other places but packs a flavor punch and is really delicious. Wished they would put in more pieces of beef though but there are lots of side dishes you can get to enjoy while eating the noodles. Would definitely go back again. This is a popular restaurant so do expect to wait for a table.
Jan L — Google review
The broth is light and heavenly. Remember to also order the crunchy cucumbers and beer too. They go well with the beef noodles and tendons! No worries about the queue as it moves fast.
S L — Google review
Probably the greatest beef noodle I had with this affordable price. Takes a bit long to get what you ordered - like 10-15 minutes? But it's worth waiting with patience.
Dennis H — Google review
I like both their dry tossed pork knuckle noodle and beef broth noodle. Especially the dry noodle, I was impressed by how even aft I left it there like 10 min yet it didn't clump up. The sauce was flavorful yet not oily nor overpowering. The beef broth noodle was equally good though the broth had clean yet flavorful taste. But might be a tad light for some people. Beef tender and a mixture of some tendon and brisket. Noodles springy and beef tendon too had a nice bite, not too tough nor soft, cooked just right. Staff were obviously family like and cordial and polite. Place also decently clean(I sat next to toilet yet no foul smell) But I think a little pricey though. Portion of noodles were generous though.

Restaurant
Flamma Steak House is a popular dining spot in Kaoshiung, located on the 45th floor of HanLai Hotel. It offers a delightful experience with its nice steak, fresh salad, and good service. The restaurant boasts a lovely night view and reasonable prices, making it suitable for family or friend gatherings. Guests can help themselves to the salad bar and dessert bar while waiting for their appetizers and main dishes. The servers are friendly and efficient, ensuring that glasses are promptly topped up.
There is a salad bar and dessert bar which you can help yourself to whilst you wait for your appetizer and main dish. I had an Aussie steak and lobster both of which tasted good. The waitresses were efficient and quick to top up our glasses.

Nice steak, fresh salad, good service, wonderful night view and reasonable price. A lovely place suitable for family or friend gathering. I will absolutely visit here again. PS. Fruit is also fresh but hopefully the restaurant could refill it quickly.

One of my favorite steakhouses in Kaohsiung. Food and atmosphere are great. This restaurant also has a great view to see the Kaohsiung harbor.

Servers are very friendly and polite. Salad bar is delicious with fresh vegetables and rich collections of salad. We ordered 30oz steak for 2. It’s a huge amount of steak! Really satisfy with this visit.

Great views to see Kaohsiung city! Good steaks and served all you can eat salad and desert bar! 👍👍
Sherry T — Google review
Steak was mediocre, salad bar lacked variety. The waiters lacked energy. The server who brought us our steaks wasn't smiling at all and muttered quickly what our dish was and left. He then proceeded to bring over a plate with sauces on top. He asked us bluntly what do you want? And we had to ask him what each of the sauces were. After we were done, one came over and asked us rudely , "are you done yet ?". With a price so high, you would expect the service to better. Will not be coming back again.

Hou De Fu Soup Dumplings and Noodles is a casual spot known for its delicious dumplings and pancakes, with the option for take-out. While it can get quite busy during dinner time on weekends, the dishes are generally tasty and reasonably priced. The xiaolongbao, though not comparable to those from Dintaifung, are a must-try as they also contain flavorful soup inside.
A friend’s family took me here. Without reservation, it will be a super long line to wait. Must have the sweet pancake, and the free mixed black tea + soy milk. Totally forgot to take pics. Very authentic local food.

We walked passed this local restaurant and found a large crowd waiting. We decide to give it a try, for a quick lunch. The waiting was about 15 mins and we shared with another family for a big round table. The foods were yummy. However, two of us got light food poisoning after that.

Dumpling Heaven & So Much More! 🤤 Stumbled upon this gem for a late Sunday brunch and wow, what a find! 🤩 We walked in around 11 AM and were seated immediately, which is always a great start to a meal. The vibe is super local and authentic. Don't worry if your Chinese isn't perfect! The staff are so helpful and will happily mark the order sheet for you. Plus, they have an English menu with pictures so you know exactly what you're getting. 📸 It’s a very chill, self-service setup – you can grab your own little appetizer plates from a cabinet and pour yourself some cold tea or soy milk. So easy! 👍 Now, let's talk about the food. Oh. My. Goodness. The DUMPLINGS! 🥟 They were absolutely divine – juicy, flavorful, and just perfect. Even simple dishes like the fried vegetables with garlic were packed with flavor and incredibly delicious. 🥬🧄 Honestly, everything we ordered was a home run. This place is a 10/10. It’s a no-frills spot that delivers big on authentic flavor and friendly service. Can't wait to come back for another round of everything! ❤️

Northern Chinese Comfort Food in Taiwan — A Taste of Home My father is from Shandong, a province in northern China. He fled to Taiwan with the KMT army in 1949, and ever since, northern Chinese cuisine — rich in noodles, green onion naan, and dumplings — has been a staple in our family life. So whenever I return to Taiwan for a family visit, finding a place that serves this familiar comfort food is a must. These dishes are almost impossible to find where I live in the UK, so every bite feels like home. This restaurant we visited gets everything just right. It’s not fancy — and that’s the point. You don’t come here for the decor, you come for the food. From the moment you sit down, you’re greeted with a variety of small starter dishes — each one a burst of flavor and nostalgia, as you can see in the photos I’ve shared. Mum always orders the traditional sweet and sour soup — tangy, warming, and full of texture. For me, dumplings are non-negotiable, along with their green onion naan, which is flaky, savory, and beautifully aromatic. The dumplings come steamed or boiled — both equally delicious. This place doesn’t have an English menu, but don’t let that stop you. Just do what I recommend: look around at what other customers are eating and point at what catches your eye. Or better yet, show them the photos I posted. The staff here are friendly and more than happy to help you order a delicious, hearty meal. If you’re ever in Taiwan and want a taste of real northern Chinese comfort food — this is the kind of place to seek out.
Bessie L — Google review
The sweet pancake is delicious, but a bit too sweet after the first several bites. The fried vegetables with garlic was great. We would not recommend the red chili oil dumplings - if you have ever had authentic ones from Sichuan, these are a completely different flavour that is sweeter, we prefer the original version. Best part is the unlimited soy milk
Ma B — Google review
Honestly this is the best restaurant that I went to in Kaohsiung. I stayed in Koahsiung for over a month, tried many places, yet I came back to Hou De Fu around 6 times. Their soup dumplings are a must try, along with their onion scallion pancake and vegetarian green gyozas. The ambience inside is great too, very chaotic in the best way. Service is usually quite good but if you are in a big group or are going there on the weekend make sure you get there early (around 6pm). Thank you so much! I will be dreaming about the food here :). P.s. there is unlimited soya milk, ginger and extremely tasty peanut spice sauce.
Maya D — Google review
I visited Hou De Fu Soup Dumplings and Noodles on 28 April 2025 with my boyfriend and had a good dining experience. The dish we ordered was delicious and freshly cooked, and the portion size was just enough. My favorite is the sweet Pan Cake, Wonton in Spicy Chili Sauce, Hot and Sour Soup, and Fried Pork Ribs – it really stood out. The service was fast and attentive. The food came out in reasonable time. They offer free drinks in two options: Red Tea and Soy Milk. There's more sauce beside the drink area, too. The ambiance was lively and everyone is given seats upon entering, with clean tables and comfortable seating. Prices were fair for the quality of food and experience. There's a long line during peak hours, so i highly recommend for everyone who wants to try this place to not come hungry. I would definitely recommend this place to others, especially for late lunches and dinners. For english menu, please look at the photos I provided.

Smokey Joe's is a trendy hotel with bohemian-style rooms and a vibrant American-themed restaurant and bar. The restaurant offers Tex-Mex cuisine, including fajitas, tortillas, and other Western staples at affordable prices starting from 170 NT$. The menu is in English, and the staff generally understands some English.
First of, their service was outstanding! The staff were really friendly and they went out of their way to wake us up to eat breakfast as breakfast timing was about to end. Their beef noodle is AMAZING. its better than the ones sold outside! The hotel interior is crazy beautiful with lots of oldies hipster items!!! Not to mention that they play 70~80's songs which made the ambience even better! Their toothbrush all the way to their coffee and tea are their brand and the designs are cute and awesome!!!! Can't wait to go back to this hotel the next time i visit Kaohsiung!!! The train station is only 5 min walk away and 7-11 in just across a small road! Will strongly recommend this hotel and i cant wait to visit them again!

Went here in 2020 and had a great experience. We just returned and had horrible service. If you look like or are a foreigner, don’t waste your breath. No one wanted to talk to us even though my husband is half Taiwanese and speaks Mandarin. We were seated at a table in a secluded room on the second floor for 30 minutes and no one took our drink order. Every single group that arrived after us was being served and some finished meals all while we were never even approached. Someone came in and removed dirty dishes and ignored us. Finally, as we were getting ready to leave someone came in. We were over it at this point. We had a hungry 2 year old as well. This was not okay. The racism was blatant. I don’t know what happened in the last 5 years but we won’t be back. A place that once held happy memories for us ruined our entire day.

Pros: -Great-tasting food -Wide selection -Vibrant vibe -Accommodating crew Cons: -Prices are above average -Prolly not what you’d crave when you’re visiting Kaohsiung

I had the squid with home-made black ink noodles and garlic sauce. It was excellent! The squid was very fresh and delicately cooked so it was tender. The noodles were delicious in the garlic sauce and fun to coax into twirling around my fork. My only regret is that they didn't stock an IPA beer that I could drink with it

This is a good spot to relax, the atmosphere is relaxing. The food is supposed to be American/Tex-Mex however it does fall short of that reputation. The food isn't bad just not a good representation of the states. However the lasagna is amazing! 3 stars, would go back for the atmosphere.
Colby L — Google review
Tried the seafood Mac & Cheese. Portion is very small and expensive. Flavours were ok, I just found it a very small meal and could have been larger for the price you pay $360. Service was quick and I didn’t have to wait for a long time. Nicely designed inside and good to take a few photos.
Mike G — Google review
Comfortable atmosphere. Good music. I went on a Thursday night a couple of hours before closing time. Was not crowded inside. I ordered the BBQ pulled pork with a drink. I did not use the restroom so I do not know what it was like. My food was cooked thoroughly and in a timely manner. My only complaint is, once I was seated it was 10 mins before anyone came to ask me what I would like to drink
Mark N — Google review
The food is nothing special, but rather boring. Mozzarella sticks tasted cheap, and the burger was almost cold. For that price, you have many better restaurants in Kaohsiung. 2/5 would not recommend fam. You guys should go to Jack Brothers!! Same price restaurant and they have one amazing dessert that will change your life

The food was delicious and all tastes very fresh, besides our main dish, we were especially amazed by three entrees. The staffs were very careful and professional The environment is cozy, and you can tell that the experience is carefully designed. We are happy to bring mom there coz it was her first time to discover French cuisine (à la Taïwanais), and she was very happy about it.

The staff are friendly and professional, all the dishes are great and out of expectation, wine list with large range of variety, we have chosen a burgundy red that especially match with the beef course.

##The dining time was five years ago, and the review is for reference only## Thomas Chien is a top-notch French restaurant in Kaohsiung, known for its excellent food, service, and atmosphere. The appetizers were rich and delicate, and the chef's fusion of French and Taiwanese flavors was impressive. The desserts and tea set were satisfying, and the service from staff and cook was exceptional. Overall, the lobster was tender and flavorful, and the shrimp with white wine and caviar sauce was a beautiful and tasty dish. The bread was also noteworthy. In short, if you're in Kaohsiung and looking for an outstanding French meal, Thomas Chien is definitely worth a visit. With every bite, you can taste the chefs' passion for cooking.

I love every single bites of the delicacies I did not taste before. The waitpeople never show any impatient sign though busyness in the restaurant. With their services, we felt that we were stayed in paradise. Near the light train station. Elegant interior design. Clean environment. Extraordinary Service. High price.

It was a great night! Quality food, nice wine recommend, but the cup of mousse with ham on the top, was a lil bit salty for me otherwise everything’s good. And they servers 3 different types of dessert! Which is amazing for girls!

Capstone Steakhouse is a top-notch steakhouse known for serving the highest quality steaks. Visitors rave about their dry-aged ribeye cap steak and dry-aged ribeye steaks, which are seasoned simply with salt and pepper to let the quality of the meat shine through. Many consider these steaks to be unrivaled in Kaohsiung, and some even claim that there are only a handful of restaurants in all of Taiwan that can match their exceptional flavor and texture.
This is not a place you'd come to eat at every day (quite expensive!), but we have come here a few times for "special occasions", and every single time, the visit ended up being a "very special", absolutely wonderful experience. The service here is attentive and professional, the dining room is not noisy (noise is a common problem in Asian restaurants), and food is just simply great. This year, we also the new starter on the menu, tuna tartare - it was one of the best I’ve had. This is also a very good place to have excellent wine - the sommelier is very knowledgeable, and we’ve never had bad experience (quite the opposite, actually). There are several selections of different steaks, and the ones we have tried were very tasty - simply delicious.

We enjoyed a delicious Dry-aged ribeye; the meat was incredibly tender and flavorful. The mushroom cappuccino was particularly impressive, and the dessert was amazing. However, the tables were positioned very closely together.

Nice decor and excellent bar located inside the chic new H2O hotel. Excellent assortment of steaks and the baked potato was excellent. Definitely recommended for steak lovers. Better pricing during lunch vs dinner.

Great service! Sourdough bread basket can be refilled. Steak was cooked exactly medium rare. The beignet dessert was delicious. Extremely full after the meal!

The. Best. Steakhouse. Capstone Steakhouse is the steakhouse that serves the only highest quality of steak. We ordered a dry age ribeye cap steak and dry edge ribeye steaks. They. Were. Really. Fking. Good I think they only put salt and pepper (the basic seasonings) on our steaks so that you can taste the quality of the steak as well as its crispy sides. I personally think no other steaks served in Kaohsiung can top them. I would even dare to go one step further and say there are no more than five restaurants in Taiwan that can do steaks this good.

My dish was "USDA Prime Ribeye Filet Steak". The chef knew how to grill it well. Even though its price was 20% more than my colleagues last visit. It still was a great choice. I felt comfortable staying here and chatted with the colleagues The waiters and waitress served us well. Besides you could watch chefs cooking.

Lee & Daughters is a brunch restaurant that offers high-quality food with a unique touch. The staff is friendly and accommodating, although the prices may be higher than expected. The menu includes a complimentary black tea, and the food is fresh and meticulously prepared. While there's no Wi-Fi and limited outlets, the overall dining experience is satisfying. The restaurant can get busy during peak hours but remains manageable.
I enjoyed this place so much, I went back a second time for a meal right before my flight back home. First time, I got some chicken in Sichuan pepper oil on fluffy eggs and bread. Second, I got french toast and bacon. Both were phenomenal. The bread in particular was nicely done. Fluffy, perfect texture, full of flavor. Both dishes came with fresh salads and delicious dressings. The vegetables were varied and generous and clearly thoughtfully chosen, as they were all perfect and fresh. The Sichuan chicken dish was my favorite of the two I had. Really incredible stuff. And to top it off, the two women working there were super friendly. They made me forget that we spoke different languages. Thank you!

One of the best places in Kaohsiung and Taiwan. A must visit if you like delicious breakfast and great brunch options.

The waitress was quite kind and patient with me. It is more expensive than I had expected but the food was fresh and does include a black tea (H/I). I would probably try other brunch restaurants in the area before returning to this one but overall I was satisfied with my meal. No wifi and a few outlets. I think this place can get pretty packed but it wasn’t too bad when I went on a Friday for brunch.

Food is still great and polite but slow reception and service. Taste and freshness is there, above evarage price for brunch but with the quality of ingredients used it's understandable. Overall a good brunch spot.

If you are looking for a brunch restaurant with high quality food, this is the place to go. Different from most of the brunch restaurant, Lee's Daughters serve every dish with delicacies. Their salad are very fresh, and you can taste more than five types of veg, all washed and clean. Hot dishes are heart-warming with lovely smell. Great for stomach and for photos.

I’ve been coming here for brunch since the sixth grade. Lee & Daughters serve really high quality brunches with reasonable prices. The change their menu every once in a while. The atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxing. The smoked salmon Yorkshire pudding brunch (NTD$280) I had today was delicious. It came with iced black tea, carrot and pumpkin soup and a bowl of salad with Tahini dressing. I think the portion of the Yorkshire pudding brunch was fair. I was stuffed after the meal.

The restaurant has a wonderful view with high landscapes and provides good service. The waitresses are very friendly and attentive. They offer refills for cake, yogurt, and coffee. However, my experience was impacted negatively when they added pepper to my food despite my request for no pepper, as I am allergic to it. This is a big concern for me. Also, the beef was a bit cold inside, giving me the feeling it was precooked in the fridge and not fresh. Despite these issues, it's still a great restaurant located in the hotel.

We made reservation for weekday dinner to see the skyline of the city around sunset time. Upon arrival we got our table right away, but the overlook view was far more disappointing than expected. They only had few tables by the glass window, couple of them were blocked by the ongoing construction. The overlook view was not great either. We ordered the preset course for two. The scallop was okay. Seafood risotto was average, the protein was good but risotto was too watery. Same for the ribeye, it wasn’t too flavorful and the bone marrow it came with also had no real taste. The drink, Dr. Kiwi, was good though. The service was excellent. They had a cube at the table that would notify the servers to order, refill order, clean table and to get check. Very unique way of making the process efficient. I just wish the overlook view and the food was better here.

Wow! What a great experience. I planned this memorable dinner 5 months ahead for my wife's birthday. The food was fantastic. We had steak tar tar, shrimp bisque soup, pasta bolognese, and saffron rice shrimp risotto. They brought out an apple tart pie, singing happy birthday. We ended the meal with a glass of champagne and a photo of our special night. . You truly can't go wrong planning a special moment with the "Lookout Bistro and Bar".

Located at the highest floor of a hotel, this place offer a great view, good good and fun cocktails. Very good dinning experience, like every pasta we tried and love the appetizers. The meat in main dishes are pretty fresh with great sauce. For the cocktails, they offer some interesting special cocktails with different alcohol concentration. Ingredients are clearly recorded on the menu so you can just choose the ones you like. Good dining experience besides that they have clear different menu for dinner time and bar time, so it’s a bit hard for us to find dishes accompanying cocktails after meal. Be sure to book your seats before visit.

Even though the restaurant is pretty small, but I had a great lunch experience here. The lunch set is surprisingly very cheap considering it includes the appetizer, main course, beverage and dessert. For the main course I definitely recommend pappardelle as it has an amazingly great taste 👌🏻

This became one of my favorite bars/restaurants during my first visit. I ordered a Negroni and it was absolutely fantastic with perfectly balanced ingredients, the right amount of Bitters, and a slow-melting crystal-clear cube of ice. The risotto was outstanding in its flavors, texture, and execution, the burger and fries totally scrumptious, and the soft-shell crab and wrapped prawns mouthwatering and fabulous. Also, the service is impeccable yet friendly and warm, and the prices are reasonable.

As an avid fan of western cuisine, I was thrilled to discover a cowboy burger joint in the heart of Asia. The moment I stepped inside the restaurant, I was transported to the wild west with its rustic decor, cowboy hats hanging on the walls, and country music playing in the background. I decided to try their signature cowboy burger, and I was not disappointed. The burger was massive, with two juicy beef patties, crispy bacon, melted cheddar cheese, crispy onion rings, and tangy BBQ sauce all sandwiched between two fluffy brioche buns. Each bite was a flavorful explosion of smoky, savory, and sweet flavors that left me craving for more. The burger was cooked to perfection, with the beef patties being tender and juicy, and the bacon crispy and flavorful. The onion rings added a nice crunch to the burger, while the BBQ sauce tied everything together beautifully. The portion size was generous, and I left the restaurant feeling full and satisfied. In addition to the delicious food, the service at the restaurant was top-notch. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure that my dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish. Overall, my experience at the cowboy burger joint was fantastic. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was fun and authentic, and the service was excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to indulge in a taste of the wild west in the heart of Asia. Yeehaw!

We both really liked this restaurant. It has a good atmosphere and environment. Also not to mention, the food we ordered was quite brilliant. One thing I felt so impressive we had no idea what kind of cocktail we were going to choose but they helped and gave us a nice suggestion. Ripple 義法西餐廳 offers a dining experience that may not be considered fine dining, but it's definitely worth the visit. With an affordable price point of around NT$1500 per person, the restaurant exceeds expectations with its service and food quality. The all-you-can-eat buffet is a standout feature, offering a wide selection of seafood, red meats, salads, and desserts including fruits, ice creams, and pastries.
Lovely night view with live music and good food. Steak was tender. Buffet had a decent selection with all you can drink cocktails. Sashimi was fresh.

We had breakfast here daily and every day was very satisfying and borderline gluttony. Well, I ended up skipping lunch every day because the food was so yummy. It's a buffet and the staff clears your table promptly. You use clips to special order items and they come to you quite quickly. Now, I had a serving of ice cream for breakfast, just because I could and it was awesome. I mean how can the kid in me turn down peanut butter chocolate toast with a side of ice cream and a warm cup of coffee to boot.
S S — Google review
Warning! This place is not for you if you are looking for a fine dining restaurant!!! It’s safe to say that their service and food were worth every penny. The food was ok, and the buffet was good. This is not an expensive restaurant (~NT$1500/person), so I did not have high expectations of meat quality. I like their all-you-can-eat buffet, though! It contains plenty of seafood, red meats, and salads for you to pick.
J S — Google review
My husband took our daughter here for afternoon tea, and it was such a disappointment. The Caprese salad came with half-dried, low-quality cheese, the French fries were overly greasy, and the dessert was topped with canned whipped cream in a sloppy, unprofessional way. Overall, the food quality and presentation were very poor. Unfortunately, this was an unpleasant experience and we won’t be returning.
Mayumi B — Google review
Very disappointed by their main meal. I'd say the steak was boiled rather than fried. All gray. I ordered it medium rare - and it's still extremely chewy. On top of that, it tasted a bit sour. 🤨 The staff is very welcoming and helpful. Their seafood buffet was okay. Salmon and macaroons are delicious. But the steak simply destroyed the mood. 😔 As a little suprise, the staff treated us with fried scallops. A very warm guesture from the restaurant. However, even though scallop was fried well, it was very salty. Ripple needs better chefs. 🎅
Arturs V — Google review
Visited for lunch on July 19, 2025. The restaurant had just reopened after renovations, but it seemed rushed and unprepared. The menu was not fully ready, so we were asked to start with the semi-buffet. I ordered the pork chop and my friend had the duck breast — both were so tough that even a knife couldn’t cut through, let alone chew. We brought this to the staff’s attention, but nothing was done in response. I was dining with an old friend I hadn’t seen in years, and what we had hoped would be a delightful meal turned out to be a disappointing disaster.

This is by far the greatest (speak easy) bar in Kaohsiung, if not in Taiwan. My friend planned to have a wedding proposal on our visit, and it became one of the sweetest and best dining experience in Taiwan! The entire staff was so helpful! We got the flower, they checked with us the timing and details, and my friends were so impressed! I’d like to highlight two of the staffs, Emily and another girl I figure she’s in charge at the bar area on the date of our visit (4/30/2023) They took time to communicate with the chef and us to ensure the dining experience is not only up to standard but memorable! My favorite is black truffle fries, it is such a simple but not simple dish! The staff is very polite and friendly, and the ingredients and embellishments of each dish will be explained in detail. Every dish is a classic, and you can deeply feel the chef's intention and attention. And the taste makes people feel happy, which is a realm that other ordinary high-end restaurants cannot reach. Stage 5 not only pays attention to the ingredients, but also the cooking method is very powerful and unique

Ordered the 7 course set and every savory dish hit the spot. From the bread to appetizers to main, each dish was cooked to perfection and was very good. The space too was open and relaxing. Service was attentive and they explained each dish to us. My aunt doesn’t eat beef so they were able to provide a substitute to that as well. The wagyu hamburger and lamb were so tender and flavorful. The only thing I wasn’t as impressed by was the dessert. I thought they added too much rum to the dessert – to the point where I couldn’t finish it because the flavor was overwhelming. But overall I would recommend and would return.

We've ordered the set menu today. Mostly they were all tasty , especially the shrimp appetizer covered quinoa, so special and brilliant for sure. However, the veggie soup was not my favorite one. Mini burger was okay but the organ and sauce basically overwhelming that I couldn't taste the meat which is pity though. Frankly it was still a superb experience to have such a nice supper today. Thanks for the hard working and sincere treatment for the original ingredients. Very grateful !

Excellent experience. The food was divine, and the vibe was upbeat, social, and entertaining. We ordered a 9-course meal, and every dish was tasteful and creative. It must have taken the chef months or even a year to design and optimize all of them. Keeping in mind that, under all these innovations and excellent platting designs, this is a french cuisine restaurant. Thus, all courses come with sauces, dressings, and palatable sides. This is not a place for you if you want your meat “pure” and without any seasonings but salt and pepper.

Food is exclusively made and delicious! The signature hamburger is beyond amazing. My personal favorite is the grilled seafood salad. What a delight. Pasta and risotto are both fine with a great portion. Even the birthday cake on the house is served with care. Service is attentive though some inexperienced staff could’ve worked more on greeting and the menu introduction. Overall we were so satisfied with the fine cuisine. Really impressed and also looking forward to the spring and summer menu with steak and seafood. Wonderful Michelin Guide restaurant. Thanks!

Comfortable dining area. Great services. Authentic flavor. We tried calamari, risotto, and pasta, all were very good. Personally, I wish they can use just a bit less oil on my pasta, then it would've been excellent. Need knives. Not sure why there weren't any knives on the table... kind of hard to eat with just forks... and how do you cut up food (prawns)? Didn't see any dessert menu.. hope they get one soon.
Ping S — Google review
A tough rate. pretty much a representation of cha cha menu in a more spacious location but lacking matching decor. some good thoughts behind each dish however pretty unchanged over time, flavor tends to be singular and boring, possibly due to subpar line chef execution. still very decent western food in kaohsiung but quite a distance from where stsge5 is advertising it is. 2021, horrible revisit. repetitive ingredients being used in multiple dishes, repetitive seasoning and boring flavor. feeds off the performance center crowd with mediocre food, lesser portion year over year, sad.

A hidden gem. It is in a small village, not easy to find the path but still reachable by google maps. The food is quite delicious and characteristic, cook with herbs. They also sell many kinds of herb tea. Good to health. Very recommend to come.

I went there since I was young and every time i went there, the taste of their food was always as exquisite. You can't get the taste there anywhere else. Also their Lavender Milk tea is something to look forward to. Five stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

When we first tried to locate the place through Google maps, we didn't find the place. The second time, we asked some locals and we found it. It is located along some pineapple farms. Their food is delicious and vegetables are fresh. They also brew and sell organic tea.

(Translated by Google) The location marked on Google Maps is opposite this store. Each person's low-cost meal is a set meal. Each set meal comes with a drink, dessert, and appetizer salad. The drink is made with a tea bag and hot water, and that's it. The appetizer salad dressing is not bad, I think it is the most delicious. Dessert is winter melon jelly, not too sweet. Today I ordered a meal and two pastas. The portion of the meal was quite satisfactory, with three dishes, one main course and one rice. There is a problem with the pasta. The noodles do not absorb the sauce, so when eating the noodles, it feels like eating simple noodles. I am not sure whether it is the wrong choice of oil or cooking too many portions at one time. I don’t recommend eating noodles, but the portion is very sufficient. Summary: It is recommended to order food here. The rice is very good. If there are not many people, you can order noodles. Also, if you wait for too long, you can go outside the store for a walk. Tip: When ordering pasta, they will tell you the name of the sauce when you order it. Please remember the sauce you ordered.

This speakeasy-style establishment offers a cozy atmosphere off the main street, serving a curated selection of drinks and food items from their menu.
Been here a few times over the years and it's not failed us once. Every dish, every drink, perfection. We had the ribs, extremely tender. Spicy chicken noodles. Not my favourite but obviously well executed. The buratta cheese salad is to die for. A++ Well never come to 高雄 and not eat here.

Been here twice in a very short period of time, absolutely loved the risotto and the drinks, the draft cocktails were absolutely fantastic and delicious. Highly recommend the pork risotto to go the draft cocktails.

Great bar ! Interesting entrance make u feel the bar is hidden inside the pawnshop. Atmosphere is low key speakeasy, interior design is like old euro/brit style but cozy, and staff is super friendly. Cocktails are amazing! Food it’s interesting ! It’s like Chinese / Taiwanese food with a bit of western twist but done right. All in all is 💯 except the smoking area is too small. But at least they have one ☝🏾 If your in Kaohsiung for the night I must check it out ! PS: there is lots of city bikes in 2 min walk from the bar where u can bike home if u drank too much 😅 DONT DRINK AND DRIVE haha

Perfect little bar right in the center of the town. Speak easy. Hidden in the alley with another bar which may confuse a lot of people. It’s a pawnshop. Once you get in you might have to find how to get to the second floor. Friendly staff very well trained and very good service. The food is amazing and the drink is beyond. Great value. The owner is putting a lot of thought into the inter-design and layout. This place can easily fit more than 50 people. It gets busy during the weekend so please make a reservation. I highly recommend that this place. You will definitely have a good time here. My new favorite bar in Kaohsiung.

We walked for 20 minutes to get here. There were people drinking but they turned us away saying they were not open until June when they obviously are. They obviously do not like foreign people so do not bother visiting. A man outside who showed us how to get in was shocked. We were dressed well but we are English & they turned us away. I do not recommend this bar at all.

Immaculate vibes. Great bartender. Great drinks. Went on a quieter night. Bartender made some really quality cocktails that he adjusted to our taste. Some delicious takes on the classics - one of the best Manhattan's I've had.

Solid 4. -Food was all good. Brisket beef was a bit tough. Not quite HK level taste. -Service was a bit slow at the start but was wonderful after that. Only delayed one order of the 6 of us. - especially liked the atmosphere. We sat in the side room which was quiet and cool. Nice decorations. Bathroom on 1st floor and is clean and spacious. My in laws wanted to go to a Jazz bar and that's how I found this one as it's close to their hotel. Unfortunately we went on a Thursday so no live performance; still, great cocktails and service. Beautiful settings and was quiet enough for conversations. Would hope to come back when there's live performance.

Came here for a live jazz performance and it exceeded my expectations. I got one of the best seats in the house for the performance., front and center! The staff were very friendly and polite, and I had a great conversation with them. Even though I only had an old fashioned, their cocktails don’t disappoint. It was definitely one of the top old fashioned I’ve had in Taiwan. There’s a bunch of bottles of whiskeys and gins you can have tastings of and buy as well. During my recent trip to Kaohsiung, I stumbled upon Woopen, a delightful eatery that quickly became one of my favorites. Nestled conveniently near my hotel, I first indulged in their salads, which were not only fresh and healthy but also generously portioned. The tuna salad was a standout for me, and on my second visit, the smoked salmon salad did not disappoint either. Woopen is truly a haven for bagel lovers!
Woopen is a must-visit if you love bagels! The bagels are freshly baked, perfectly chewy, and come with a variety of creative and tasty fillings. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make the experience even better. Whether you’re in for a quick bite or a leisurely breakfast, this spot delivers every time. Definitely one of the best bagel places in Kaohsiung and whole Taiwan.

Recently I was in Kaohsiung and I discovered this place as it was pretty close to my hotel. I tried their salads only so I can’t comment on their sandwiches. But the salads I had were delicious. So tasty and the portions were big. Pretty fresh and healthy even with the sauce. I had the tuna salad and the second time I went back, I tried the smoked salmon salad. Both very good. Their juices were very nice too.

(Translated by Google) This time, I visited PAVO Lounge Bistro on the 11th floor of the Grand Hi-Lai Hotel in Kaohsiung. The moment I walked in, I was struck by the grand decor and the ambiance was truly upscale. The diners were also very sophisticated. But don't let the exterior scare you; the food is actually more affordable than you might expect, making it a great value. My favorite dish is their seafood stew rice. It's generously crammed with seafood ingredients, and the hard rice soaks up the rich sauce, making every bite incredibly satisfying. Also, a quick reminder: download their app and become a member. Birthdays of the month get a free Tomahawk Pork Chop—a real steal! The portion is generous and juicy, and the meat is as tender as steak—a feast for both the eyes and the palate. They also have a wide selection of cocktails, and the atmosphere is perfect for enjoying a drink while chatting. If you're celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion, PAVO is a highly recommended spot for a memorable occasion.

The fries are a must-order; they're absolutely delicious with the black truffle sauce. The Caesar chicken salad features incredibly tender and flavorful chicken, and the Caesar dressing is refreshing and appetizing. The French onion soup is sweet and rich, and the accompanying bread is a huge plus. The crispy red wine duck breast is generously portioned; the staff recommended medium-rare, and it was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Today's highlight—the Flaming Tomahawk Pork Chop—was a birthday gift from the food app, and it was truly a thoughtful touch. Besides the tableside flaming ceremony, the pork chop itself was perfectly marinated, and the meat, like the duck breast, was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It was delicious even without any sauce. Overall, the dining environment, atmosphere, food taste, and ingredients make it a very cost-effective choice. Chinese restaurant
Lung Fang Beef Noodles is a long-standing establishment in Kaohsiung's Sanduo business district, recommended by the 2022 Michelin Guide and known for its signature beef noodle soup. The soup is described as having a beautiful color and a refreshing, sweet taste, although some find it lacking in depth. The beef is praised for being well-stewed and flavorful. The restaurant offers quality and affordable food, making it popular among locals.
This is what it purports to be. A cheap way to fill an empty belly. Just what is needed in this godforsaken rat race.

Ordered beef broth gnocchi, beef noodle dry & beef fried rice. Beef is tender and gnocchi has a nice bite and chew. Fried rice is decent too. But somehow I find their broth a little underwhelming. Can't taste much beef flavor. Small dining area and most condiments are self service. To be honest, I had better tasting beef noodle in Kaoshiung day bef and better while it's not even Michelin rated. Can eat but definitely not a place you make your way there just for the food.
Leina M — Google review
The beef taste very good but the soup was too oily.
Polly Y — Google review
Nice small hole in the wall restaurant. We came here because we wasn't sure what to eat. We order fried rice and wonton soup. Both where ok, the fried rice was too greasy for my taste.
Carlos P — Google review
(Translated by Google) It is very close to the underground parking lot of Shengxing Park and has convenient transportation. The beef fried rice was large in portion and cooked to perfection. I think anyone who orders fried rice should feel full. The braised beef soup of Tanggeda is slightly sweet and not spicy, suitable for people with light taste. The sauerkraut seasoning is good and goes well with the soup. The black and white cuts are above standard, and the texture is good and not mushy, but the soy sauce is a bit sweet, which I don’t think goes well with the black and white cuts. There is room for improvement in the sauce. The dumplings are flat and soft, and I don’t like the taste and texture of the filling. Since there is no air conditioning, indoor dining is OK in winter, but you have to be careful in the hot summer because you may sweat while eating. Besides, I think the environment is... rather simple. Is it true that the Michelin reviewer gave this dining environment one star...?

(Translated by Google) Whether it's delicious or not is a subjective opinion. After work, I took the MRT for a snack and chose Long Fang near Sanduo Station. I ordered dumplings, beef noodle soup, and Lu Wei. The dumplings were small and filled with cabbage. The beef noodle soup used beef tendon, but it had a fishy smell and the broth was a bit bitter. The only thing I can say about Lu Wei is that it shouldn't be eaten cold. That's the correct way to enjoy Lu Wei, and it allows you to better savor the original Chinese medicinal flavor. I looked this place up and it's recommended by Bib Gourmand, which makes me a little skeptical. Having the celebration dinner here with our architects and lawyers of The One building. We were pleased by the dining environment and the atmosphere of the restaurant created. Although we don't have a chance to taste our favorite filet steak, the flavor of the rib eye steak the manger recommend is toothsome, rich and explosive perfumed. The manager and the waitresses served each meal properly and explained to us every detail of the set. (Translated by Google) More than a month later, the five-sense experience is still fresh in my memory. First of all, I am very grateful to the chef for following the spring theme and specially making the Fine Dining Veg version for vegetarians, showing his consideration and attentiveness to the diverse and delicate needs of the diet. Through the explanations of the restaurant service staff, people not only understand the original intention of each meal, but also can further understand the stories and meanings behind various ingredients. This virtually shortens the distance between the cuisine and the guests, making the dining experience not just about taste, but extending to cultural and emotional exchanges. The chef skillfully uses seasonal fruits and vegetables and plant-based proteins, and familiar ingredients are transformed into a new look, while less common elements are cleverly integrated into them, making the meat-free Fine Dining not appear thin, but stacking up layers to create rich taste levels and visual beauty. Every dish is like a work of art. It is not only exquisite, but also thoughtful. It also makes me, as a guest, feel a different depth and soul. ----- Avocado ice cream with avocado and Lao Choi Po appetizers Clear soup of braised radish, shredded burdock and turnip The sour and salty combination of grilled tomato puree on the zucchini, cheese crisps, and zucchini flower tempura Buttered Porcini and Pine Nut Puree Port Mushroom and Porcini and Pine Nut Risotto Guava leaf and guava pulp ice cream topped with guava and plum meringue Salty Cake Toasted Sesame Crisp Buckwheat Ice Cream (Original)

K-Town is a generally decent brunch spot. It has a great selection of western food, which has endeared it to the expat community. It's reputation is well deserved, and the staff is friendly and can speak English well. The menus are likewise bilingual, and easy to read through. The food quality is consistent, and overall the restaurant is great. It's a little expensive, but is worth while. Try to avoid it if it's busy though. (Translated by Google) Can I give up a star? The service is average. I have never had such bad eggs Benedict. The eggs were boiled for me. The bread was as hard as a rock. I was hardened after eating it...I said fist. (Original) 可以不要星嗎,服務普通,沒吃過這麼爛的班尼迪克蛋,蛋給我煮熟就算了,麵包硬的跟石頭一樣,吃完我都硬了⋯我說拳頭。

Nestled in Northern Kaohsiung near Houyi station, 天生澳克 Jacaranda is a must-visit for pizza lovers. This charming eatery specializes in deep-dish pizzas that have garnered praise even from Chicagoans, making it a standout choice for those craving authentic flavors. Pair your meal with a refreshing craft beer to enhance the experience.
(Translated by Google) The pizza is quite delicious, and the duck breast salad is also good. The rye sauce is very mouth-watering! (Original) 披薩相當好吃,鴨胸沙拉也不錯喔,配上黑麥汁很涮嘴!
Ling — Google review
Authentic Chicago deep dish pizza, a little bit pricey but the food tastes really awesome. The chief is kindda cocky but it doesn't matter as long as the pizza is hot and delicious.
