Hok House is a cultural-centric guesthouse in Kaohsiung, offering streamlined quarters with a laid-back atmosphere. The vision of the place is to create a neighborhood venue where people can live and meet, fostering peace and free thinking. The space is designed to provide guests with an authentic local experience, feeling more like a comfortable apartment than a hotel room. Its location near the MRT station and Liuhe night market makes it an ideal home base for exploring the city.
Hok House is centrally located in Formosa Boulevard, very clean and nicely decorated, and service was excellent 👍🏼 the owner was very hospitable and kind, and waited for us past their check-in cutoff timing. The hostel feels very homely and there is a farm-to-table cafe located at level 1. Overall, would highly recommend to all looking for affordable accommodation in Kaohsiung. It’s located close to exit 2 of the Formosa Boulevard station

Fantastic experience! The entire design of the hotel is so decent and confortable. Although it is a renovation building, the designer take the beauty of the old building and combine it with simple geometry and materials. Every detail in this hotel is well-design. I really appreciate this place. Next time I will stay for more days.

Breakfast was good. The price of the room is on the higher end considering how small it is and how musty it smells. Also you cannot reach the staff beyond the designated time, which I thought is quite a cursed nuisance. But during the time I was in contact with them, they were pleasantly helpful.
Yu G — Google review
A Muji-esque guesthouse that comes alive. Super drawn to the whole interior and stay was really comfortable, the staff really nice, friendly and helpful unlike other guesthouses in Taiwan. The common area was beautifully done and the communal kitchen too. Although the room is small, the communal area made up for the lack of. Just a two-minute walk from Formosa Boulevard and where the old street is. The shampoo and shower gel was a local brand and they are amazing. The attention to detail is amazing!!! Would definitely return on my next visit to Kaoshiung. You need to climb up the stairs but there is a luggage elevator so you don’t have to carry it up the stairs. Love it! Our room 304 was a little damp and there was a sewage smell emitting from the toilet. But other than that, there’s nothing major that would disturb your Kaoshiung experience. Highly recommended! 🌈🌈🌈✨✨✨

We stayed here for 7 nights and loved it! Major plus points: 1. Near Formosa Blvd MRT station (150m walk), which is a central MRT station 2. Near Liuhe night market (300m walk) 3. LOTS of good food within 400m radius, whether for breakfast, lunch, dinner or supper, or for buying gifts for folks back home. 4. Comfortable rooms (although Oval rooms were a bit small, they were very well designed and easy to live in) 5. Clean environment, with lovely study on Level 2, and a terrific common kitchen in level 3 to eat and interact with the other guests. 6. Helpful, friendly staff who go out to make you feel at home. They even provide a guide to the food and amenities in the area. 7. Free flow of hot tea and iced tea, and cookies. 8. Fast wifi (about 10-12 mbps) 9. Jazz playing (softly) in the kitchen in the daytime - Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong etc - the owners must love old school jazz! We really liked the vintage feel of the place, with the accessories, jazz, and setup. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. Very highly recommended!

HOK House is really sooo relaxing and cozy. My friend and I feel so comfortable and relaxed when we stay here for two nights. The living room, kitchen and public space are pretty awesome that we can lay on the chair for light reading or cook meals for ourselves. Traffic is also very convenient cuz' HOK is close to the train station, Formosa Boulevard MRT, and night market so that we can go everywhere easily. The room we stayed is too comfortable to stay awaked for us..... lol And there are some heart-touching and sweet designs in the room for us to discover!! Nice hotel!!

Wonderful location and elegant home base. It feels more like a comfortable apartment, than a hotel room. I stayed two nights at Hok house and it was perfect. The location is ideal, right in the city center, metro is at door(formosa boulevard station) and only few minutes walk from the Liuhe night market. Great bars, restaurants, teahouses, very good vibe. The hotel has many details, love the design and decoration. They did a few collaborations with great local brands and organic farms. Book a room, you will love it!

What an amazing experience of staying in HÓK house. They do know the appropriate distance between customers and the hotel runner, and I also admire how they try to bring a different, contemporary and elegant vibe to this ancient building. Btw the 夜間小酌(late night drinking set) is totally spectacular. Will certainly come back again!

Located in the beautiful Sizihwan district, Watermark Hotel offers breathtaking views of the bay from some of its rooms. It is only a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal which can take guests to Cijin Island. The hotel also features an attached bathroom and modern amenities. There are several restaurants and cafes located nearby for visitors to enjoy.
Let's talk about the bad things first. Well if you are unfortunate like me, you will probably have issues with ur room card as it may stop working and you will have to get new card many times. There could be a power outage for a short period of time too(rarely occurs):/ but the bad things only end here. Favourite: Looking for a CHEAP, GOOD HOTEL? THIS. IS. FOR. YOU. I Spent a hundred dollars + and got REALLY WELL DESIGNED ROOMS, BATHTUB, AND FREE buffet breakfast. ( although the food is the same everyday ). The scenery wasn't that good since around the hotel was alot of construction work, but the hotel was really comfortable with barely any broken items/none and insufficient supplies. The location is average, there is a nearby seven eleven and it is really close to the train station. Highly recommended to visit this hotel, and do take note that if you are checking in/out, do it before 00:00am or after 6am as the receptionist will be closed.

有臭虫!Beware of bed bugs! :( we stayed here for two nights (at the building across the street from the main hotel) and were bitten by bed bugs. The room was not very clean and looked like it hadn’t been stayed in for a while, pillow cases had holes in them and the towels were fraying. We had so many bites and were so afraid that we had brought the bed bugs home. Avoid at all cost!! P.S. I messaged the hotel after this to tell them about the bed bug issue and they just ignored my message. Super irresponsible!! :( EDIT: I saw on another site that another reviewer also experienced bed bugs before. So this is not the first time this has been reported to the hotel. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Imagine a four-star experience at the price of a two-star hotel in France, the UK, or Belgium—or a three-star in Spain. Ideally located across from the ferry to Cinji Island, near Sun Yat-sen University and right on the waterfront, with views from the room overlooking Kaohsiung’s harbor and cityscape. Generous breakfast, spacious room, though the mattress was a bit soft. Highly recommended.
JR — Google review
Nice location. Our room has a solid view to the harbor and the island(CiJin) across. The Room is spacious and we had a good time.

Have had my eye in this place for a while when booking in Kaohsiung and it did not disappoint. View was superb, rooms immaculate, and service spot on. Will be back.
David T — Google review
The room looks good, the view over the construction site was wonderful, the bathroom tsunami with the water escaping from the bathtub was very nice and the best for the end the isolation is a disaster !!!!! You can hear the people when they are breathing so i let you imagine when someone book this hotel to enjoy the night.... !!!!!!!!
Samy L — Google review
5 stars: location staff, cleanliness, overall standard/effort, breakfast, room size. don't forget to sneak up to the roof to take in the views and orientate yourself. One more time: staff are expectation-exceeding, 'extra-mile' champions! We'll always be back.
Joseph D — Google review
Just by the harbour with 2 minute walk to the ferry. Modern clean feeling, well appointed. Free wifi, a good buffer breakfast.

Hotel
Color Fun Inn, located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, offers a pleasant stay with its friendly and accommodating staff who speak English. The hotel's prime location provides easy access to restaurants, convenience stores, and public transportation. The rooms are spacious and clean, equipped with amenities such as a refrigerator, air conditioner, large shower area, cable TV, and comfortable beds. Additionally, guests have access to laundry facilities.
The room is so comfortable, Spacious and clean. We had a rough night from 5pm the day before until we arrived here around 12pm. The inn check in time suppose to be 3pm but the owner just let us go into the room knowing we are all tired. The place is easy to find. Even following the google direction will lead you to the right place. The only suggestion is the water heater where it is not warm enough during winter. Overall we love the location and the inn and truly grateful for what they have done to make our first day in Taiwan memorable Do try it out if you are in Kaohsiung next time.
Joe C — Google review
I spent 13 days here and it was an exceptional find! Hotels are getting too pricey, so I was thrilled to discover this place. The building looks old and the foyer is a bit intimidating, but once you reach the 7th floor and enter Color Fun Inn, it feels like a different world. My flight arrived late, but someone was already there waiting to check me in and explain everything. The staff were all incredibly friendly. My room looked exactly like the photos—clean, spacious, and the balcony was perfect for drying clothes. The bathroom was large with great hot water pressure, and there’s a shared washer and dryer. The only downside was the thin walls—you can hear neighbours showering and hallway noise, so light sleepers might want earplugs. I also noted that many reviews mentioned the smell of cigarette but I didn’t smell any cigarette throughout my 12 nights! Overall, for the price I paid, this was a fantastic deal. Highly recommended!
Jen-Hao L — Google review
I enjoyed my stay at the Color Fun Inn. The staff were very nice and friendly. They were able to answer any questions that we had and also spoke English. The location of this hotel is quite good - close to restaurants, convenience stores and public transportation. The rooms were very clean and quite comfortable. Our room had a decent size refrigerator, air conditioner, large shower area, cable tv and nice bed. There is also a laundry machine available for use. Would definitely stay here again next time I’m in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Please enjoy 😊
Joe K — Google review
Recommended! The rooms are quite spacious and clean. The location is convenient and overall it’s a good stay. Only downside in our room: there was a lack of natural light. Staff is friendly.
許櫻花Sakura — Google review
+ Nice room, friendly staff, convenient location, affordable prices. - No safe in the room. Other points to note: The entrance is locked and no staff stays at the hotel during 11pm-9am. On the day of check-in if you arrive after 11pm, you need to phone their night shift staff to ask them come and open the door for you. If you can't dial the phone by yourself you can ask the security guy on the first floor for help. There is a free washing machine operating until 10pm every day with no drying facilities. If you want to dry you laundry or you want to wash them after 10pm, you need to go to the coin laundry room on the first floor.
Hkrwa ( — Google review
This hotel look like a share host with others hotel hosts. Different price and service providing if you checked the different hotels of same address. Great location. Near metro station in 3mins, and very close to sky tower. Service is also good enough. There is a auto laundry store at 1st floor, but you need buy powder somewhere. Only the WIFI signal was weak ,and free coffee bean was damp. (you might ask for service for Renee coffee bean.)

- Love the place's theme & the traditional touches of the building. - Well designed and staying true to the building heritage. - Very helpful & accommodating couple staffs that help u with many information. - Cleanliness was well maintained thru out the day. - Location was great, very near to a metro station! - A highly rated hostel that ticks almost all indeed!

Excellent location. Short walk from station on red line which is itself only two stops from main Kaoishiung station. Shops and alleyway markets all around. Digs easy to find. Very niche. Room is compact with the bed up a metal bar frame which you need shoes on to climb as hard on bare feet and maybe not for those who are afraid of heights. Breakfast starts at 8.30 am. The staff are very helpful.
Karen E — Google review
The with inn hostel is a really good place to stay for big groups or families. The rooms are really nice but the breakfast could have a little more variety. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Jonah T — Google review
I stayed at With Inn Hostel for five nights so I really experienced the atmosphere of the hostel. To explain my lower rating: Privacy & Security: I felt very insecure about the security measures for the room. The door was always unlocked and people came into the room all the time, people who were not sleeping in the room but rather visiting other guests. The bunk beds have very thin mattresses and the ladder leading up to the third bed is not stable. I could feel it shaking and moving from the wall as I climbed up which made me very worried about getting hurt. Additionally, there are no curtains on the highest bed which means no privacy. Soundproofing: I woke up almost every night around 2-3am because my roommates were being noisy or packing - even though quiet hours begin at 11pm. Amenities: The showers were spacious and fine. There is laundry and a drying rack on the balcony floor. If you have a lot of bags, the stairs are quite steep and I recommend not bringing all of your things up. Storage: Unlike all the other hostels I stayed in, there was not a dedicated luggage storage space near the lobby. Also, the lockers to store your things are only large enough to store 2-3 items. I suggest that they redesign the space when appropriate to provide larger secure lockers for valuables especially as all the doors are unlocked. Comparing the price of the rooms, I was disappointed by the quality of the rooms and security features.
Ara I — Google review
Very cute hostel super close to the MRT station. Everyone was so friendly and helpful! The dorms are pretty small and don’t have a lot of room for people to move around if a couple people are in there. There are also not many bathrooms. However, the beds were pretty comfortable and clean. We loved the balcony on the third floor. Super cute and comfortable! Overall, a great place to stay in Kaohsiung at a great price.

I glad to visit this hotel and the way of giving services of the staff os too familiar i visited here second time and spend my quality time with my friends in this hotel best ever experience
Yuvraj S — Google review
I highly recommend this cute hostel. It’s conveniently located near Central Park KMRT station with lots of good shopping nearby. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Rooms and bathrooms are clean. The beds in the dorms are assigned. You also get access to 2 lockers free of charge. One is small and in the room and the other is downstairs. You are given keys to the assigned lockers with your room key. The breakfast they offer is great. It’s presented beautifully and it’s healthy.
Shannon M — Google review
I really like this hostel. The beds were super comfortable. We stay in the mixed dorm bedroom. The upper bunks don't have a curtain to block light in the room, but that was not a problem in our stay. Lights go out at 10 pm. And you have a personal light in your bed. The commun area is very nice, kind of like a cafe. Will defenetly stay here again.

Extended stay hotel
Gwawa Hotel is a contemporary accommodation located in the heart of Kaohsiung city, just a short walk from the train station. The hotel offers individually styled rooms with eclectic decor and luxurious, colorfully themed interiors. Each air-conditioned room comes with an attached bathroom, laptop, and Wi-Fi services. Despite being more like a guest house than a business hotel, it provides all necessary amenities and is meticulously clean.
Full bathroom the best in Taiwan. Room could be better but it has what is needed, except for a kettle inside the room. The building is a bit old and not in a good shape but the owner keeps the hotel clean, very clean. Towels' service is excellent, very clean and a nice laundry detergent. Kitchen is available for use of guest, microwave/toasted oven which is very convenient. Snacks, coffee/tea in the common area, near the kitchen are always available. The hotel area is a one open floor plan which makes it feel guests like one family; On the other hand, privacy areas besides the room are non existing; however, the owners keep professional boundaries between guests, and their private life and that helps the fact that there are not place to step out of your room because there is non. The owner speaks English and he is very helpful when possible. He keeps rules for payments and check-in or out but he is flexible when necessary to accomodate travelers different and unique needs.
Carolina J — Google review
We had an amazing experience at Gwawa Hotel. The owners keep everything extremely clean and they are so helpful if you need anything. They washed our laundry and even folded it for us. There is filtered water (hot and cold) for you to use. While packing up, I realized that I could not find my AirPods and the owners came in and helped me look for them. He lifted up the bed and we found them. Overall, very great experience!

Located at very convinent location. 4 min walk from MRT Station. Down there is a 7/11. 5 min to Lihue Night Market. I stay here for 14 months. Is like my home. There are free snacks (sweets, biscuts) and instant coffee plus tea bags. The owners are very friendly and helpful.
David W — Google review
for what it was it was okay. we found little small bugs in our room and our beds, but we just killed them quickly. the AC blew relatively cold which was appreciated. there was free laundry service, though they returned our clothes later than they predicted. clean spaces, though the shower area was pretty cramped for someone my height (6 ft). wife was fine at 5'2. being close to a station really helped to move our luggage, and busses were actually super convenient.

Family run hotel. Good location and the room is very clean. Amazing value for its quality. Plus the host is very friendly.

Very cozy, homely accomodation on the 10th floor of an apartment building. Very friendly welcome and orientation. All you need provided: water dispenser, WiFi, kettle, fridge, adapters etc. Very near the food night street market. Also easy walk to the Formosa Boulevard MRT. A few blocks away is a large supermarket. Only problem is a very small sign with hotel name so entrance not easy to see from the street Enjoyed our two night stay.
Vincent O — Google review
A cozy place. More like a guest house rather than a business hotel. I stayed at “Venice” (didn’t see the relevance tho lol) which is a twin-beds room. My friend didn’t stay due to family urgencies so it’s all my opinions. Not a fancy/new one but has enough amenities and most importantly, it’s very clean. You can see the owner is trying her best to keep the whole place neat and tidy. Great location- near the metro and the night market. If you carry luggages use exit 8 for the escalator. Nice service too. Would come over if I visit Kaohsiung again. Some English instructions may need some proofreading read to help non-native speakers understand them better but I’m sure the friendly owner would be happy to help if she’s at the counter.
Ianju C — Google review
Location was great. Accommodations were fine. The staff were nice and even moved us to a different room when we asked (needed a different bed setup). WiFi had some issues the whole weekend but other than that was a fine hotel to spend some time in Kaoshiung.

The rooms are charming and spacious, perfect for families or groups of friends. Additionally, the location is ideal, with easy access to the MRT station and other attractions in the area.

Apartment of rooms with en-suite, perfect for large families! We booked all available rooms and had the whole building to ourselves. The rooms were bright, clean and good-sized with ample space for opened luggage. The communal rooftop space was large for family gatherings too. This comes with a big fridge, cooktops and full sets of tableware. There’s a washing machine right outside too with no limits on the number of loads. The location is great. We were minutes from the nearest train station. Liu He Night Market and breakfast shops were literally right downstairs, so you’ll never go hungry. Since it’s a new space, the rooftop was messy with wooden planks laying around, making it unsafe for our kids. There were loose tiles on some lift landing too. The glass shower panels only cover half of the shower area making the almost the whole bathroom very wet during showers. The tiles are very beautiful, but are slippery when wet. Since we expect the minor issues to be ironed out, we’ll likely come back again.

The nearest exit is Exit 11. However, if you have luggage, we recommend taking the elevator to Exit 1 and walking a short distance. Hospitality and Service: If you arrive early, you can leave your luggage with a 20-minute advance notice. The hotel does not have a full-time reception desk, but you can contact us via Line. Facilities: There is a floor where you can prepare or heat food. There is a washing machine but no dryer. Clothes racks are provided. Hair dryers are provided in the room. There are no personal refrigerators, but each floor has a shared mini-fridge for storage and name tags. Room: The room I booked was small, but the design and decor made it feel comfortable. It could fit one large suitcase, but walking with two might be difficult. The bathroom has a bidet, but the water pressure is very strong. Cleanliness and Safety: Moderately secure. The Riverside Hotel International is a well-maintained hotel with simple yet comfortable rooms, some featuring balconies. Guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast buffet during their stay. The hotel's convenient location allows for easy access to the airport and nearby dining options and supermarkets. While there were some minor issues reported with room amenities, the staff are described as helpful and friendly, providing excellent service. Overall, it is considered an economical choice suitable for solo travelers or those seeking a straightforward accommodation option.
Very nice! The staffs here are very helpful and attends my needs timely which i appreciated it a lot!! Thank you all for your great help!! The location is very near the airport, taking me like five minutes solely!!

A good place to stay overnight especially when you travel by a late night flight, about 20-30min walk from the airport or nearby metro station. Not close but reasonable. Overall tidy and clean room, comfortable bedsheet but the rusting of water taps aren't attractive. Breakfast is too oily. But it is budget friendly, offers more than I expect.

This mid-sized hotel strikes a perfect balance between modern convenience and warm hospitality. Guests are welcomed with an efficient self check-in system, while the staff remains attentive and genuinely caring throughout the stay. In the evenings, the ground floor transforms into a cozy communal space, offering complimentary cookies and tea — a thoughtful touch that invites guests to relax and connect with fellow travelers. Its prime location adds to the charm: just steps away from a Starbucks and within easy walking distance to PX Mart, making it incredibly convenient for anything from a morning coffee to a quick grocery run.

The hotel is nice, supportive staff. They show me some good local food and bakery shop. They provide me airport transfer with packed breakfast! And we were so surprised with washing machine in the hotel, very low cost!

Clean n cozy rooms. Breakfast selection was ok. No parking at hotel, nearby public parking available.
Gavin A — Google review
The location was about 12 min walk from the mrt station, longer with luggage in tow though it's quite flat. We had a double room with no windows which was ok for one night. The issue was that sound proof was bad so we heard everyone that walked past very clearly. They do have a free shuttle service going to the airport in the morning which is really helpful. Took less than 10 min to get to airport. And they have snacks and drinks in the dining room for guests during the day which is a nice touch. Great place to be if you had to catch a plane early next day.

Good location. Walking distance to airport, it’s take about 25min walk to international airport. Surrounded by good food, supermarket Didn’t give 5 stars are because of the room bathroom water tap leak and only able to repair after checkout. And the hotel didn’t answer my email. overall is a very good basic hotel with excellent breakfast . Will stay again if come again but will request for no water leaking room Update- change to 5 stars cause with good explanation given. Thanks a lot

Riverside international hotel - Rooms are decent size with walking space, able to open up suitcase. Only towel, hair dryer. shampoo and body wash provided in the room. There is a weird smell at the corridors of room but they did have an air conditioning machine plugged in. Hotel lobby has amenities available to pick up like toothbrush hair comb razor soap. There is also hot and cold water dispenser and tea coffee bags to pick up. Coin laundry machines are available at the reception floor with washing powder included and English directions on how to use. They also have a luggage area at the lobby which you can temporarily place your luggage there and is in sight by hotel staff. Separate wifi available in rooms and reception area. Plenty of sofa available at reception area and with air conditioning. A computer area and luggage weighing scale also at reception floor. Hotel room include breakfast from 0630-1030, very busy area need to try hard to find a table. Food wise a few options of Taiwanese food of radish cake, fried rice, cooked cabbage and green beans. Drinks coffee tea, soy milk, milk tea, apple juice and orange juice available. Buffet food was cold. There was choice of hot and cold soy milk but hot soy milk wasn’t warm at all. Only warm options include congee and corn chowder, cold vegetarian preserved vegetables to pair with congee which was a main part of their regular breakfast. Great location, around 5-10mins taxi ride from the airport so good option for late arrival flights or early flights. Starbucks just opposite and several restaurants that open till late. Good pricing for rooms but does sell out as is popular for families.

A1ice G — Google review
Booked this hotel because it was so close to the train station and I walked by it the times I was in Taiwan. I loved the decor and the bed was very comfortable. The room I stayed in, the bathroom had no dry/wet separation so all my stuff got wet after my shower. From reading other reviews, apparently there are rooms that have the dry/wet separation, I just didn’t book the right one appropriately. It also does not have a mirror in the bathroom so I had to put my contacts on in front of one of the mirrors in the bedroom. This is the first time I encountered these issues in Taiwan. I couldn't get my tv to work when I first got into the room but they fixed the issue while I was out of the room so it was no biggie. The walls are pretty thin. I could hear my neighbor next door so I was sure he was able to hear me in my room. I didn’t like seeing earplugs on the nightstand because that meant noise. There wasn’t much noise when I went to bed but I put them on anyway just in case. Banging from upstairs around 3:30 woke me up from sleep along with conversation in the hallway kept me up. You can hear all kinds of loud noises from outside the room and downstairs in the morning while I was still trying to sleep. I can hear this all while wearing earplugs. Like most people have mentioned in their reviews, the soundproofing is quite bad. There doesn’t seem to be any kind of real improvement going on regarding it, only the earplugs which is just a temporary fix. I needed to extend my stay but decided to book somewhere else.

This is a lovely hotel located right in front of Kaohsiung Station. The staffs are so friendly and accommodating. Loved the QR-based transactions for checking in and out, as well as generating combination codes for the keyless door. Appreciate the thoughful innovation as we definitely crossed misplacing the keycards off our minds. Our room is at the 8F. The hallway is narrow but usually empty; although there are other guests in the other rooms, we rarely walk in together in the hallway. Separate room door for toilet and shower, so we can really thoughtfully utilize the usage. Staff does daily cleaning and provides fresh towel. I will consider booking this again in my next trip to KHH.
Hana V — Google review
The hotel is perfectly located, just a few minutes walking from the central station and shopping area. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is not a buffet style but a prepared taiwanese style breakfast which is delicious and absolutely worth the 200TD.

Even though we were here for only a night, the team's hospitable service and warm welcome was exceptional. We came 2 days in advance to deposit the luggage and the FO man was extremely helpful. Upon check in we were introduced to the facilities available in the hotel and were impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of the team. Room was of a decent size, every corner was clean, and did i mention how smooth and comfortable the beddings and linen was? We were even impressed at the quality of hair dryer and boiler provided in the room. Situated just across the Kaohsiung Train Station, it is extremely accessible. Will definitely love to stay here again.
Su Y — Google review
The location is convenient, close to the train station! Although there’s some construction nearby due to expansion, it’s not a big issue. The place is clean, comfortable, and spacious, with a well-designed room layout. I really appreciate the friendly staff who patiently handled my inquiries. There’s also a self-service laundry in the basement, which is free to use. However, I’d suggest adding more lighting there to make it feel more inviting, as it currently feels a bit like a storage room. I stayed in a Superior Double Room with a window for 2 nights, and I’d definitely consider staying here again when I return to Kaohsiung.
Oh E — Google review
Stayed here for three nights (room with transom window i.e. no window). It was my first experience and one could not tell if the sun is out of if it raining (google) but besides that, it was a comfortable stay. Insulation was not great but fortunately, most guests were quiet except a few... Everything is of high quality, including the craftsmanship of the space. Excellent staff and services. Suggestions for improvement: better quality slippers to go with the rest of the hotel. My mattress also needs to be turned over; it was caved in from wear and tear.

Family Trip for 4. Impromptu booking after we decided to street stay in kaoshiung an extra night and the airbnb we were staying opposite, couldn't extend an extra night. Reviews were complaining about a smell.. so I walked in but it was much better than the online complaints and I booked straight away. Rooms are all new, power points are all international so you don't need adapters and there's even a water dispenser in the bathroom! Bed is massive and clean. 5 stars for only 4876twd for 2 rooms! Location 5 stars. Right around the corner to Liuhe Night Market downstairs. And 3-5 minutes walk to MRT.

Stayed here for 2 nights while on a trip to Kaohsiung with my friend and had a good experience! Pros: - super convenient location, right next to the Formosa Boulevard station (transfer station between the Orange and Red MRT lines) - clean, well-equipped, and new rooms! The beds were comfy, there was ample closet space, and even the bathroom was spacious - friendly and helpful staff! Cons: - the lobby and hallway had a distinct smell that’s hard to describe but strange. My friend and I couldn’t really tell what it was? - the room has a faint cigarette smell, but it’s not a huge bother as I only noticed it when I walked in. Overall, convenient location and clean rooms! Would recommend :)

I stayed 7 nights. Very clean, very quiet, situated on quiet road, very accessible to public transport, extensive underground train network, and local buses. Local night market 5 minutes walk. Electric kettle provided in room which I like. Daily room cleaning very good. Has a drinking water tap in bathroom. Endless good hot water, no problems wifi. Breakfast is ok with two women topping up food, but a little limited after a few days, but common in hotels, unless you stay 5 star. Interesting TV remote has good plastic cover, I generally find they are sticky from use, but here clean. Recommend.
David F — Google review
It’s a very nice room though it’s small and has no window. There is good technology and lighting in the room - buttons for lights. For the bed - it’s acceptable and the breakfast is thorough. The reason for the low rating is just that there is a weird vibe about the place. There is no friendliness with the front desk stuff And they both act and appear very offputting. Horror movie vibes. There’s no electrical outlet by the bed, which is bonkers.

I have stayed in many places across Taiwan. Would say this is the best value hotel I stayed during trip. Friendly staff and also offer laundry services. Breakfast is provided. Very clean room and quite spacious. Very near the MRT and night market. Would stay here again.
Edward Y — Google review
Travelling in a group of 4 so we booked 2 rooms. Upon check in, the receptionist said that one of the room has been upgraded due to overbooking, which was a pleasant surprise. However, the air conditioning in the upgraded room turned out to be a nightmare. The thermostat was set to 23 (lowest) and after a whole afternoon, the room cooled down to 25 when nobody was inside. After we entered the room, it remained at 26 and we were sweating while sitting in the room. After our feedback to the reception, they came to ‘unlock’ the min temp to 18 but the room temperature did not go down. We requested to downgrade back to the room type we’ve booked, thinking that it’s due to the large size of the room that cause the air conditioning to be not cold. We were told that there’re no extra rooms and then also discovered that 80% of the air con vent was blocked with only a tiny breeze. After several calls to the reception, they said that there’s a room available and we had to wait an hour to change the room and it was already past midnight. The corridor leading to the rooms was also non air conditioned and air was stale. The location of the hotel is great but would not recommend for stay during summer. By the way, the rooms either had a curtain that opens up to a wall (no window) or has windows that opens up to the wall of the opposite building …

We've been here with my girlfriend to watch the maroon five concert held in Kaohsiung city and this hotel is our first choice to book.My stay at the Hua Xiang Hotel was a pleasant one overall. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and I enjoyed the amenities provided. The hotel is located in a perfect spot. It’s within walking distance of several tourist attractions, shops, and restaurants. The riverfront view in the pagoda pavilion was absolutely stunning, especially at sunset. It was also easy to get taxis and public transportation around the city. I couldn’t have asked for a better location. About the room the bed was very comfortable, and the room was well soundproofed. I had no issues sleeping, even though the hotel is near a busy area. The temperature in the room was just right, and the pillows were soft yet supportive. The free Wi-Fi worked well throughout the hotel. I particularly enjoyed the buffet breakfast at the morning, which had a wide variety of options The hotel had a relaxing, modern vibe with a stylish interior design. It wasn’t overly luxurious but comfortable and sophisticated. The lobby area was spacious with plenty of seating, and the overall atmosphere was calm and quiet. And Yes, I would recommend this Hotel for anyone visiting the city. It’s a solid choice with great amenities, an excellent location, and a generally good experience. Just keep in mind that the elevator service could be improve.

There wasn't the smoke smell I'd been told, and the TV was easily connected to YouTube. Check-out was perfect at 12:00 PM, and a simple breakfast was provided. However, there were no disposable items provided, only plastic bathroom slippers. The wall-mounted hair dryer was difficult to use, and you'd need to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste! ⚠️The hotel didn't explicitly tell you to pull the door shut, and I only found out after asking. I suggest putting a small sticker on the door to make it more clear. Beauty Avenue Inn is a newly opened boutique hotel located in a great location with convenient transportation. The rooms are small but clean and tidy, offering all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. Guests can enjoy free breakfast, coffee, and tea in the sitting area on the first floor. Despite some noise issues due to shared facilities, the hotel provides great value for money and friendly service. It's recommended for travelers looking for a budget-friendly option with good amenities and cleanliness.
Brand new hotel just opened January. It is very clean. First floor has a sitting area with free waffle, coffee, tea, cookies. All service people are very friendly.
Jay C — Google review
The room is compact, almost tight, but it's well designed and there is a decently done full bath that's finished with quality material. I would stay here again except almost no buses run on this avenue, not sure why, it's a major thoroughfare. The MRT stop is a good hike away
Tony T — Google review
The hotel stands strikingly in the centre of Kaoshiung city. You can tell that it is recently built or renovated. Exterior and interior is well designed and comfortable. They have an open self serve facilities on the ground floor for free coffee/tea bad snacks. Staff are friendly, professional and are willing to help for any additional accessories you need. For a double bed room is at a competitive price, considering it is only a 5min walk from the central MRT station and 15min walk from the nearest night market. However there is two things that prevent me from giving this place full marks. The use of "packets" for shampoo, conditioner and body wash gel. Of course this is only a minor problem considering how beautiful, modern and well maintained bathroom they have. However there is a fatal flaw in the bathroom, or I should say "wetroom"? A flimsy curtain separate the shower area from the toilet and sink. This curtain does nothing. Within minutes your entire bathroom floor wet. If they had just installed a physical barrier next to the toilet or at least stop the water from flooding (putting a wet towel on the floor will help). However this atrocious flaw is compounded by having no shelves to put any of your bathroom necessities on. If you have only the "packets" that are given, you will end up putting the spent packages on the toilet. If it is a short stay, room cleaning will help having these flaws annoy you. But if you are one who do not like using room cleaning often or worried about privacy (rooms have no safes either) these bathroom flaws will became apparent and depending on your tolerances, can be a turn off. It is a shame, because I ultimately enjoyed my stay here but the bathroom flaw got worse the longer you stay.

I hate my room was next to a toilet. A toilet for everyone. Really noisy. The pipe was really noisy. And soundproof not really good as you always hear people walk through. I couldn’t sleep well for that reason. Except that, everything was just fine. You got everything you need for a hotel room. Value of price I would say.

Just accross 7Eleven. Due to the budget we stayed on the smallest room. But it was OK for us. Self check in is very easy. Property is quite new, English-speaking host, have good interior design, free coffee on the lobby. Little minus: Soundproof issue. If another guests pass-by in the middle of the night, you can hear their steps and sounds.

Honestly one of the best places I've stayed, great price, great location, great amenities and service. It's right next to the bus stop which goes directly to Kaohsiung Main Station and next to a very busy and yummy duck rice eatery. It's also an 8 minute walk from Yangchengpu Station and very close to the Pier 2 Art Gallery. The host is also a great guy, speaks fluent English and always up for a good chat. Will be back again next time I'm in the hood

I recently stayed at Ox Suites in the Yancheng district of Kaohsiung, and it was an exceptional experience. Ron and his wife run a fantastic little block of serviced apartments that’s clean, modern, and minimalist, yet equipped with everything you might need—and more. The apartment was spotless, and the minimalist design made it feel spacious and comfortable. Ron went above and beyond by providing a comprehensive list of things to do in the Yancheng area, which was incredibly helpful. If you only have three nights, like I did, you’ll find plenty to keep you busy just in Yancheng and nearby Cijin. Their recommendations were spot on, and they were always just a message away if I needed anything or had any questions. The location is also a major plus. It’s just a short walk to Yancheng station on the orange line, making it easy to get around. You can easily reach the hotel with just one change of train line from the HSR Station. Overall, I had a fantastic stay and will definitely be back the next time I’m in Kaohsiung. Highly recommended!

I'd give this place six stars if I could: - Modern rooms with TVs, cold AC and powerful water pressure (as well as Smart Toilets). - Reverse osmosis systems for pure water. - The downstairs has a shared lobby with drinks fridge, snacks and free coffee and laundry facilities. - The owner speaks English and is happy to give tips for places to visit, where to eat etc. - The location has you within easy walking distance of the pier arts centre, alien art gallery, international convention centre and everything you could need to survive like markets and food. - Bus stop outside which doubles as a very convenient uber/taxi pull-up spot. - 7/11 across the road which has an ATM.

From requesting about the booking to the end of our stay, the owner Ron has been super friendly and helpful to any of our questions. We arrived early on the day about 1pm, although the checkin time is 4pm, Ron told us they had the room done and could let us in straight away! It was a very nice surprise! We stayed in room 603, it was very clean and comfortable. The shower was responsive to the temperature very well with a great pressure. The mattress was not too hard and not too soft which I like. Even though the building is located right on a main road, it was really quiet and peaceful during our whole stay. We had a very enjoyable time! Thank you 😊

Extremely friendly and helpful family owners. Run by a young couple. Very cool design done by the father of one of them. They really put so much thought into every little detail. Great room, great food and culture guide, great design, great atmosphere. Really god value. A solid 5/5 for us. I wish them all the best! Our stay really impresses us!

It’s perfect place to stay one night. All detail make traveler to live more comfortable and convenient. Even the shower water is special from chloride extraction and softening. Thanks for food and attraction information from Host,Mr.Lee.

Our room and bed a little small, but amenities OK. No fridge or cooking in the room. Shared fridge in lobby area. Very central, fairly quiet and well-run family feel.

Guest house
A Touch of Zen in Kaohsiung's Zuoying area offers a unique blend of history and culture, showcasing the city's rich heritage. This guesthouse provides an immersive experience, allowing guests to delve into the area's Japanese prewar maritime ambitions, postwar ROC era, and modern Taiwanese hospitality. The hosts are knowledgeable about the local area and provide valuable assistance with travel plans and recommendations for exploring the city.
My partner and I stayed at A Touch of Zen during our visit to Taiwan and highly recommend this little gem of a guesthouse. It is conveniently located about a 20 minute walk from the High Speed Rail station (less than 10 minutes by bus and 5 minutes by taxi). The beds are comfy and there is tea and filtered water at your disposal. If you love film it's a special treat because the tasteful Japanese decor (the building is a former naval home - traditional Japanese construction) includes some fun film props - and the chance to watch something on Netflix projected in the common area. While we were there the hosts kindly set up a movie for us to watch. The hosts are fluent in English which was extremely helpful since neither my partner nor I speak Mandarin or Taiwanese. They provided maps and answered questions about things to do in Kaohsiung. There are several buses that take you to numerous destinations just outside the guesthouse which is also walking distance to Lotus Pond and the surrounding temples. There are tons of good restaurants nearby. Side note for those visiting Taiwan for the first time - Taipei is wonderful of course but Kaohsiung is really worth a visit. There's a lot to see there.

It was such a delight staying at A Touch of Zen Guesthouse during our recent visit to Kaohsiung. The hosts were continually helpful in answering our questions throughout our stay, fluent in English (unfortunately I speak neither Mandarin or Taiwanese), and they checked in with us often both about our stay there but also to see if we needed any recommendations for things to do. They were invaluable in assisting us with the best ways to get around the city and surrounding areas based on what we had planned. Further, when we made them aware of other informal plans with traveling through Taiwan and asked for bits of advice they were always ready with suggestions and informative feedback. As for the location, the guesthouse was a great launching off point each day, with a rented bicycle stand less than a block away, a bus stand right across the street, connecting after about a 10-minute ride, to the major Xin Zuoying train and high speed rail station. The neighborhood is happily a walkable one with amenities and countless eateries nearby and a park and outdoor exercise area just a short walk away. We were lucky with weather but if you find yourself just wanting to stay in, the guesthouse doesn't disappoint - it has a film nostalgia-themed living/entertainment room, a peaceful and sunny backyard terrace and countless games and other distractions at your disposal. Our only disappointment was not having more time to take in all of the Kaohsiung area :)

delightful, quiet, clean and comfy. yet only 10 minutes from the high speed railway station. the owner has a splendid array of 'welcome cocktails' to choose from. close to a happening part of town. and nearby are 2 very cheap! golf courses (hard to find in taiwan). The common area has a cinema sized screen for great movie night potential.
Michael B — Google review
Went down for some golf at the Navy course. Amazing house in an historic area. Carl and Wendy made us very welcome. The rooms are simple and clean. The main sitting room area is spectacular and we spent as much time just hanging out there as we did sightseeing in Kaoshiung. Highly recommended.

Amazing place! All you have to do is stay in this guesthouse, and you will be immersed in this rare intersection of history and culture: Japanese prewar maritime ambitions, the postwar ROC, and the developed hospitality of modern Taiwan. If you're a fan of authentic history, preservation, and/or supporting local businesses, you need to stay here. I learned a lot about the Zuoying area and A Touch of Zen was the destination that got me to appreciate its history which was previously a blind spot for me. (Hey, Kaohsiung Bureau of Cultural Affairs, are you reading this?) Third-culture kids and those returning to Taiwan to revisit yesteryear -- I imagine they would really enjoy this experience. I have never seen Taiwan like this before. It feels like time travel. So wonderful and authentic. What you might not know until you get here is that there is a really special neighborhood right behind this guesthouse. I cannot find the words to do justice to the alternate-universe that it is. It's somewhere near the intersection of abandoned urbex and history, undergoing a process of preservation and revitalization. Now might be the best time to see it before it changes too much. It's really convenient to use public transportation to get here -- the 217A and R53 buses stop right by the guesthouse. Coming from the other side of town 217A was the one I needed to take, but it does have a rather zig-zaggy route with the usual advisory that like most buses it's packed to the gills with students between 4:30pm and 6pm while at the same time dealing with rush hour traffic. There are bike stations about an 10 minute walk from this place, which I also found useful as a connector to the MRT. If this area gets more visitors, I think it behooves the city to install another bike station for this neighborhood. Also worth noting is that I didn't even need a place to stay and it was totally worthwhile to do what I thought was an "optional" staycation. I forgot to ask about the policy for guests bringing bicycles, but I want to come back as part of a 環島 around the island bicycling trip. I stayed in a nice single room with an enclosed outside space for a bike or two.

(Translated by Google) advantage: As the review says The equipment provided by the hotel has a high CP value Everything is available. Finding a hotel that is not ugly temporarily will definitely meet your needs. shortcoming: 1. It’s actually a self-service check-in The landlord did not show up, completely self-service Therefore, you cannot store your luggage after check-out. 2.Cleaning Pretty bad The floor feels sticky There is also dust in the corners of the toilet 3.Nearby atmosphere This is really the most concerning thing A crowded place with people and snakes coming in and out There is a strange smell everywhere from the building up. And the escape route on the first floor is also blocked with garbage. Actually very dangerous Then read all the negative reviews carefully Only then did I know the condition of this building In fact, I don’t recommend staying there just to save money.

(Translated by Google) Room decoration is possible But the toilet is very very smelly It smells like the disgusting public toilets outside. The toilet lid has been closed and the trash can cover has been turned back to cover the drain hole. Close the toilet door (there is a gap in the door and cannot be completely sealed) Still smells bad It stinks so much that when I wake up in the morning, I smell a strong stench Don't dare to use the toilet in the room Telephone contact response The first explanation was that the typhoon caused a blockage in the sewer pipeline. No compensation for the distress caused The second call directly pushed the problem to the fact that we got the wrong room key! The pre-check-in notice did tell us that it was room number 1, and when we picked up the key, we only had the key to room 1. If temporary situations arise, we can accept and understand each other through good coordination. But this way of handling it is unacceptable I share this in the hope that guests who are considering staying here will be reassured. The room design is really great, I like it very much There is a small courtyard-like design indoors It's really great, very Japanese. The decoration in the room is also very collision, a bit European and American style and a bit Japanese style, but the two different styles in this room will not feel strange when put together, they are harmonious! The bathroom and toilet are completely separated, which is great I will stay in this room next time I go there But the only drawback is that the wifi is never connected, haha (Original)

The sound insulation is very good, even in the same floor room, you can't hear the sound from other rooms at all. (There are three rooms in total) What I like most is that the bathroom sink has an extra long table, which is very convenient for placing my supplies. Water will not leak out of the shower, which is great. There is also a super long table to place things in the room👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻(How much do we need a table🤣) I like the small sofa set up separately. It’s neither soft nor hard. It’s very comfortable to sit on and very suitable for meditation🪷 Overall, there is plenty of space. If you want to do exercises, exercise or meditate, it is suitable for both movement and stillness 😂 The only drawback is that there are no windows (I live in room 3) What a great experience! grateful (Original)

(Translated by Google) This was my worst experience staying away from home. At 11 PM, the air conditioner in my room (not the typical indoor model) suddenly started pumping out a pungent, garlicky, shrimp-infused fumes. I felt sick, and I was completely stunned. Since there wasn't any housekeeping staff on site, I called them and was told they couldn't help me at all and wouldn't come to the scene. They were incredibly cold and told me to either refund my money or stay elsewhere. So infuriated, I quickly booked another hotel in the middle of the night and left. Before leaving, I noticed the same smell coming from a restaurant and bar on the first floor of the building. I suspect it was the fumes being drawn into the room. "This post is just to prevent others from having the same experience. Be careful!"

This is a wonderful budget hotel. The self check was a bit difficult this time, because I didn't realise that the instructions had arrived by SMS. They're in Chinese but easy to Google translate. But there was tech support and I got checked in. The hotel could do with investing a few hours to translate the welcome instructions in the lobby to English. International travelers would love this place. It's comfortable, well located and clean.

Zero check-in instructions. I found a phone number and called but only Chinese spoken. Due to the stress of no instructions or how to check in, I wouldn't want to stay again. However, the room was clean and comfortable and a great value!

(Translated by Google) The only advantage is that it is very close to the Dome. The text message when checking in was long and incomprehensible. It seemed that the restaurant downstairs was not very friendly. The room was in a weird shape. I don’t know how long the bed cover and pillow cover have not been washed. I was itchy all night. There was dust and hair in the corners of the room, and no one came in to collect the garbage. It was a very special experience. Also, if there are couples who want to have fun, please keep your voice down. The sound insulation is not very good. It can be said to be an extra bonus.

(Translated by Google) ⚠️Not recommended⚠️This is the first time to stay in such a B&B I booked a room through Agoda and forgot to read Google reviews. Let’s talk about the advantages first. The hot water is very large and very hot. Disadvantages: There is a heavy smell of oil downstairs as soon as you enter the door. As soon as you open the room, you are shocked by the musty smell that rushes out. The air conditioner blows out and it also smells musty🥲. The sound insulation is really bad, not to mention the room next to the road. You can clearly hear the cough in the next room. The carpet looks dirty and terrible. The tiles in the bathroom are terrible. There are mold spots all over. If the shower head is broken, water will spurt out from the seams. The toilet is large but there is no place to put clothes or things. The light is not working and has not been changed. The pillows look like they haven’t been changed in N years. The pillow towels are stained and have pills. The wind blown by the hair dryer smells like mothballs. Guests who want to stay here should evaluate themselves😅 (Original) ⚠️不推薦⚠️第一次住到這樣的民宿 從Agoda上訂房的,也是忘了看google評論 先說說優點,熱水很大也很熱。

(Translated by Google) Let me talk about the advantages first: it’s cheap and the location is close to the Dome. After I reported it to the business owner, he was willing to handle it. As for the disadvantages, it is extremely dirty and messy. I don't need to say how dirty it is, because other reviews are enough to reflect how dirty it is. Looking at the reviews, the problem has been repeatedly reflected, and the business operator does not seem to want to improve the dirty environment. In conclusion, I have to say that this is the dirtiest hotel room I have ever seen. It feels like it has not been cleaned or maintained, and is just passed down from guest to guest. The level of dirtiness is already at a severe level. If I stay in a place like this, I might as well just find a park and camp there⛺️ I suggest that the owner should not run a daily rental hotel, but directly change it into a long-term rental suite, which should not cause too many problems.

(Then it really took a long time to succeed 🙃 The government stipulates that toothbrushes and other supplies are not provided, but the floor is rusty, there are no paper slippers, and the windows are not open, but I was bitten by three mosquitoes when I entered the room. The toilet has no windows and is airtight, so I can only open the door slightly and take a shower🛁 There is a step behind the toilet with a strange layout. It is equivalent to squatting on the toilet and you have to be careful that you will hit your back.
