Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Playa del Carmen, Harry's Steakhouse & Raw Bar is a culinary gem that exudes sophistication with its chic glass-fronted dining area and elegant wooden decor. This upscale establishment offers a diverse menu featuring everything from tacos to salads, but it truly shines when it comes to its raw bar and prime steaks. Guests can indulge in exquisite cuts like Akaushi Kobe and Australian Black Onyx, all complemented by an impressive selection of wines that elevate the dining experience.
Came here for my birthday and genuinely one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. It felt so luxurious and the staff was so sweet especially Miguel and Jessica. I love them so much and truly so grateful for their service in time! There was a few other waitresses that helped me and I forget their name at the moment, but they as well were amazing!! I can’t wait to go back soon

This is probably the best steakhouse I've ever eaten at. Ambiance was spectacular, steak to die for, and the finest of table service(thank you Rafael and Jesus). It was a real treat and we will definitely be coming back next year.

I am from colorado and was hoping for some happy hour oysters. No happy hour, unfortunately. I sat at the bar- I was the only patron in the establishment- I order a half dozen oysters and they were Large (not my favorite) and super fishy. Never would have said a word but SILVER the manager came to ask me how they were. I told him not my favorite. He insisted that he replace it for something else. I ordered the wagyu beef you cook on a stone and it was AMAZING. It was absolutely delicious. He mad my two bartenders- one was Alex- and the original cute kid as well- made sure they went ABOVE and beyond w their attention to making my experience SUPERB. Then- Silver wouldn’t stop just there- brought me this aesthetically wowzie-ing cotton candy. I was beyond impressed and felt like they made sure I wasn’t walking away in any way but awestruck. Starting as a mediocre dining to memorable and me wanting to shout from the rooftops w my delight. Thank you to all that made this memory for me! ❤️🙏 Lastly- this was one of 3 dining experiences I had in Playa del Carmen by the restaurant group- all phenomenal.

This is the second time I come here for my anniversary and this time I was attended by Silver and Jehovany! They are one of the most attentive people I have ever met in a restaurant setting. I ordered a Wagyu filet steak, mashed potatoes, and we got champagne on the house. Bellies were happy and full, i’d recommend this place to anyone looking to celebrate a special dinner or just looking for great food + experience☺️

Highly recommend if you're looking for a special occasion dinner in the heart or Playa Del Carmen on 5th Ave. Really a classic American style steakhouse, with all the service and menu items that you would expect. We started with cocktails and the HAMACHI SASHIMI, Tamarind ponzu, crispy onions, and radish. The crispy onion was a different twist that added texture and flavor to the Hamachi. For the drinks I ordered the LYCHEE MARGARITA with Don Julio blanco. I asked for a TAJÍN rim - which is a spicy and flavorful option vs. the traditional salt rim. Good balance of booze and flavor (I dislike weak or sweet margaritas) My wife enjoyed her classic Martini. Dinner - We order their JACK'S CREEK RIB EYE 14 oz, served with truffle jus. The cook on the steak was perfect. Quality of the steak was average at best for $70 (this was the "cheapest" cut from their Ozzie selection). I'd step it up next time we come back to one of their higher end steaks. For our side I ordered it off the appetizer menu - GOLDEN ROCA CAULIFLOWER. Tempura, vegan Sriracha, mayonnaise, and herbs. To be honest the tempura was a miss and not very light or crispy. Not sure if the dish rested too long or what. The cook on the cauliflower saved it being al dente. I've had much better versions of this same dish. For my birthday they gave us a piece of chocolate cake with sparkler which was a nice touch. Plus, to end the meal a large cotton candy which everyone gets, your Instagram moment! Also, had an expresso Martina with dessert which is always a good choice! Ha! We had 3 glasses or their Cab selection from Baja California and enjoyed it. Total meal cost was about $200 USD or $250 with our tip. Top service and nice atmosphere for one of your best nights out in Playa.

Amazing food! Top notch steaks and drinks! What really stands out though, is the service! Javi and Jonatan were on top of it! Thank you for the best dinner experience!
Yvette M — Google review
I had an amazing experience at this steakhouse. The food was good, but what really made the visit special was the excellent service from our waiter, Elizar. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and professional. He made great recommendations and ensured we had everything we needed throughout the meal. His positive attitude and attention to detail truly elevated our dining experience. Highly recommend — thank you, Elizar, for such outstanding service!
Paulina Z — Google review
Perfect experience! The service and the food were outstanding. I had the australian filet which was incredible. The staff is super nice and like in a star restaurant. If you want to have good meat you will be not disappointed here. I will come again. Ordered my meat medium as reference. In my point of view it is perfect. Even difficult to bring such a cube to that perfect level.

La Cueva del Chango is a popular all-day dining spot known for its delicious traditional Mexican breakfast, including platano con crema, chilaquiles, and huevos rancheros. The restaurant offers a jungle-like terrace with abundant vegetation and tropical trees, creating a relaxing atmosphere surrounded by ferns and a gurgling creek. In addition to breakfast, the restaurant serves natural Mexican food for lunch and dinner, along with handcrafted cocktails and fresh fruit juices.
We loved this restaurant so much we ate here twice during our 2 weeks in Playa del Carmen. I also ate here 5 years ago and remember it being just as nice then. There were so many delicious options on the menu as well as huge vegan choices. The restaurant is nestled in beautiful trees and gardens and the restaurant itself is beautiful. Delicious food at reasonable prices with great service.

This is a excellent spot for breakfast, beautiful outdoor courtyard and we really enjoyed our breakfast here. The food and drinks and service is very good. The fresh passion fruit juice is phenomenal and we will definitely be back for another great experience!

Absolutely stunning Chilequiles! And with fantastic warm and friendly service this place should not be overlooked! I highly recommend it! Great food amazing service and has a bit of a rain forest vibe! Lots of healthy menu options too!
Chris Z — Google review
Hands down the best restaurant!! I LOVED my enchiladas!! Everyone loved their food and they were very accommodating! I loved the is that really what they said juice of the day, which was banana, guava and orange juice.
Clarissa M — Google review
Food and service was amazing for a brunch on a sunday morning. Place can get pretty busy but we were seated within 30minutes. We ordered chilaquiles and huevos rancheros, the Xcatic chilaquiles leaned more towards acidic and sour. Food is average but they offer a few salsas to add more depth to the food if you wish. La Cueva del Chango is clean and well ventilated with fans and lots of open space. I highly recommend the freshly pressed juices they have in the menu!
Ginelle — Google review
Amazing restaurant offering both local and Western dishes, set in a beautiful jungle atmosphere. The food is delicious, the staff are outstanding, and the prices are very reasonable compared to nearby options
Roy L — Google review
Me and my friends were there for dinner on a Saturday night. The location is amazing and the atmosphere is very jungly. There were animals hoping on the trees around. My friends loved the food, my dish was not amazing, the meat was dry and the salad was nothing special either. I would definitely try another time.

Plank Gourmet Grill & Patio Bar is a lively and modern restaurant that specializes in cooking on wooden planks, offering a full bar for its patrons. It's an upscale option for Thanksgiving dinner, providing 5-star service and a tantalizing 4-course meal featuring options like roasted beetroot and caramelized fig salad or cream of sweetcorn soup with blue cheese and bacon. The restaurant is known for slow-cooking meats and salmon over cedar planks in an upscale yet earthy setting.
Delicious! Great ambience and impeccable service by Francesco. We enjoyed every bite of our meal as well as the drinks (he did a great job recommending). I’m a vegetarian and was able to get a wonderful meal without issue, which is not always the case at steakhouses. We did not feel rushed at all, but they were very attentive. They were very respectful of our 10-year-old son. Would definitely recommend dinner here! Yum!

Ok so I never really leave reviews but this restaurant deserves one! This was our absolute favourite restaurant in Playa and we have eaten twice a day for seven days in several places. I’m just sorry we discovered it almost at the end of our trip otherwise we would come every evening and also for breakfast. The food is BEYOND fantastic! No matter what we've e ordered we were always delighted with our meal! Credit to the Chef! The servers were also great and always polite. Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone who has high expectations to eat in here.
Tereza H — Google review
Great service and food! The cheeseboard was delicious, margaritas were oh-so-tasty (I only had one, hubby had two), and the food (mixed veggies, asparagus, Parmesan fries, octopus, and ribeye were finger licking good.
Jane D — Google review
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Plank and it was a wonderful experience. We were served by the beautiful Fernanda who started us off with a Smoked Old Fashioned and Smoked Negroni. By the end of the night we ordered two more rounds and were ready to salsa dance the night away. We ordered the Salmon Gravlax and Scallops & Pork Belly for starters, and both dishes were melt in your mouth delicious. Our mains were the Mixed Grill, Fettuccine Seafood. Mixed Vegetables, and Mashed Potatoes. Again, each dish was prepared exactly to our liking and danced on our flavor palates. Our wait between dishes was approximately 30 minutes, but I had already done my research and knew that Plank prioritizes the dining quality and experience over speed, unlike many restaurants in the United States. We were too full for dessert, but we eagerly look forward to patronizing Plank again on our next trip to Playa Del Carmen.
Kenny T — Google review
We were a party of three the service was friendly and super. We started with tuna tartar that was delicious, the tuna almost melted in your mouth. Unfortunately the rest of food we ordered was not as good. I had short rib that was super tender, but lack flavor. My brother had the seafood pasta Nero that was too al dente, the pasta portion was really small and the flavors were lacking. Thirdly, my girlfriend had a Lobster that she enjoyed it although according to her it wasn’t as good as previous experience with the crustacean.
Javier C — Google review
By far our fave place to eat in Playa Del Carmen. The drinks were perfect…a spicy margarita! Our appetizer and dinner were outstanding. The staff was so accommodating & the evening was topped off with a sexy jazz band playing excellent music! We’ll definitely be back and recommend this restaurant highly.
Julie H — Google review
We were excited to try this restaurant and the food was indeed good. The waiter was extremely friendly to begin and told us a sad story about his life in Argentina. However we were extremely shocked when upon bringing us the bill , he began to demand a 20% tip. We said we’d leave cash so he stood over us while we prepared the tip - very uncomfortable. When we presented the $25 USD tip he became aggressive as it was less than the 20% he pressured us to give (despite the fact that it was 10% of his monthly salary in Argentina). Needles to say this was very uncomfortable given the fact that this restaurant is expensive by Playa del Carmen standards (and even New York standards where we have just arrived from). We could not understand why this nice restaurant was so empty, but now it’s clear- the hard sell tactics by the waiters are putting off wealthy locals and tourists alike … perhaps the management is not paying them a decent salary ? But the desperation and money hunger of the staff means we will never darken its door again, and would definitely not recommend. 2* for the food only.
Елена Д — Google review
Plank was recommended to my husband and me so we decided to go out to dinner here while we had a friend in town visiting. This place did not disappoint. Between the 3 of us, we had the smoked meat platter, the ribeye, and the fish and chips with sides of mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Every single thing we ordered was delicious. Our waiter, Daniel, was very attentive without being overbearing. He was very polite and courteous and made sure that our experience was exceptional. We will definitely be returning to Plank to try more of the menu.

Mexican restaurant
Porfirio's Playa del Carmen is a stylish and lively restaurant located just a block away from the beach on the famous 5th avenue. The elegant open-sided salon with wicker chairs and hardwood tables sets the scene for an upmarket contemporary Mexican dining experience, complete with serenading mariachis. The extensive menu features both traditional and innovative Mexican cuisine, including favorites like tacos de canasta and molcajete mar y tierra.
Our family’s experience at Porfirio’s can only be described as epic. Not only did they accommodate 24 people, but the service, atmosphere, and quality of food was unmatched for such an event. The staff made the night truly special and catered to us perfectly. Please check them out; you’ll be happy you did!
Andrew B — Google review
Aside from the food, LOVE IT. It’s a really cool experience to be there. The staff are super nice. They move so fast! They’re also knowledgeable about the menu. Some old-school music videos from both Mexican and English music play on two screens in the background and set the vibe. There was a certain point that they had sparklers which was fun and they seem to make celebrations really special. So…4 out of the 5 people I was with had some stomach/lower body issues afterwards. We all ate here for dinner. I had steak and vegetables and was fine but others got some seafood and brisket. They had an interesting evening.
Lexy M — Google review
The staff were very attentive and friendly. But the food, unfortunately, was the worst meal I've had in Mexico. Steak appetizer was thinly sliced steak served raw with a hot rock. They did not mention I had to cook it myself. The meat was bland, flavorless and had not salt. The salad was covered in cheese and served with a chamois stick one usually finds in a margarita or michelada. The Old Fashioned was served with crushed ice, granulated sugar and a maraschino cherry, definitely not an authentic Old Fashioned for such an upscale restaurant. I do not recommend Porfirio. They could do better.
Cesar V — Google review
The service at Porfirio’s is exceptional! We felt spoiled by all the attention we received. The food is also delicious and the highlights for us were the El Sancho “Cowboy” Steak, the guacamole with cheese, the Porfirio fries. In the end our entire group loved everything we ordered. My daughter with celiac had an amazing meal as they understood which dishes could be made gluten free and were attentive to her needs. Special shout out for Esteban who was our server. He was Amazing!
Hani B — Google review
The food was just good the experience was good and the service very nice but they are a little bit pushing you to put a good review and even show QR code for you to put a review while still in the restaurant. I did not like that personally, and that is why I don't give them 5 stars.
Daniel T — Google review
We went here for our last night of our holiday ( it was an all inclusive) we didn’t book however we were fitted in immediately. We were seated & introduced to our server. This is now where I gave the atmosphere 4*’s: the music was so so loud that we couldn’t hear each other & we could NOT understand the waiters & our server! You literally could not hold a conversation! After managing to order we only waited a few mins and complimentary starter arrived again could not hear what the sauces were. Our food arrived after just a 10 min wait & I was given a bike with soft cheese in… I hadn’t order them… I was told to take a picture which I did & he took the bike away - they had ‘forgotten’ my order! These were complimentary! My husband ate his meal & I didn’t really want to eat the tacos as I wanted to be able to eat my meal. My husbands food was well presented & he said it was gorgeous, he ordered the salmon, grilled vegetables & cheesy spicy mash. When he had finished eating (nearly) mine arrived. Again it was well presented ( my tacos were pegged out on a washing line) & they were lovely however I had to ask for my refried beans, they had forgotten them aswell, this is why I have given the service 4* & not 5. We asked for the bill & it appears they told my husband that they had not charged for my meal - the staff knew the service I had received was not acceptable so at least I didn’t have to haggle with them about this & yeh accepted responsibility. It’s a shame about my experience as the food was really nice & the restaurant is worth a visit… just wish the music was a little quieter!

Everything about this place was great! We had a party of 10 and everyone enjoyed it! It feels like food with a show with all of the fun things they do to make your experience great! The food was awesome, the atmosphere was fun, and the service was great! Someone we met on our trip recommended this place to us and I would do the same to others!
Jonathan D — Google review
My buddy and I stop by here for some lunch while we were out and about on 5th avenue and without a doubt this was the best meal we had the entire time we were in Mexico. My buddy got the grilled octopus and I got the ribeye tacos. Everything was incredibly delicious The service was fantastic and there was a great way to sit and look at all the people walking around while you enjoy your meal and drinks I highly recommend taking time to try this place out.

Restaurant
"Oh lala! International Cuisine by George" is a charming restaurant that offers a blend of Spanish classics and innovative dishes in a relaxed setting with a terrace. Inspired by Chef Georges' travels, the menu combines French gastronomy with Mediterranean influences, resulting in a diverse selection of high-quality dishes. With only nine tables, the restaurant provides intimate dining experiences with personalized service from the owners themselves. The menu features steak, seafood, and classic Asian favorites like Penang curry.
We felt a bit rushed, the maitre d said we were late for our reservation and pushed us to order quickly. We thought we were early. It is a small restaurant and expensive so confirm your time so you don't feel rushed through a expensive meal. Despite the miscommunication, our meal was excellent. The food and flavors are unlike anything else I have had around Playa. French cuisine here is top notch, everything we had was fresh and flavorful. I would highly recommend it. Call the restaurant directly to make reservations, the booking sites like open table are not accurate and have no availability. Outside seating was very pleasant and you can watch the kitchen preparing food through the window. It's not the most luxurious location, but the food is definitely worth going.

5 star experience every step of the way. Food was exquisite in quality, taste and presentation. It's truly a culinary experience that will leave you excited for your next visit. Cocktails, service and environment were well thought out and elevated the moment. We'll be back!
Pam M — Google review
We have had the pleasure of a friend of ours introduce us to this restaurant and we wish we can try the whole menu. This place is as good as the high end restaurants we have been around Canada and USA. The wait staff service level, the quality of the ingredients, and atmosphere are as well executed as the high quality restaurants. The complex flavours, the presentation, the service all are worth the price tag: - Oh lala passion! and the lychee martini: 5/5* boozy and so retain the fruitiness. - foie gras: 4.5/5* rich flavours and well plated. Just wish there is a bit more on the portion. - figs salad: 4/5* nice salad. Large chunks of brie. - lemon-garlic shrimp & scallops skewers: 4.5/5* decent sized shrimp and scallop, flavours balanced. - Filete mignon red wine sauce: 5/5* the meat was of quality and was cooked to perfection and seasoned beautifully. The mashed potatoes, vegetables were done well. Simple yet effective. - Sea bass provencal: 5/5* presentation was so nice and well seasoned. For a fish lover like myself, I love the crispy skin while the fish retained its tenderness. Perfectly executed. Overall, we really enjoyed our dining experience here. Highly recommend trying their breakfast and lunch menu as well!

We had an amazing birthday dinner. The food was out of this world. We ordered lobster risotto, lamb rack, and foie gras. Service was impeccable, atmosphere was lovely restaurant was beautiful. Saved it for future visits to Playa del Carmen. 10/10 would recommend.

We had such a spectacular lunch last week at Madison Oh lala. The service is definitely way more professional than other PDC restaurants, for example, replacing a napkin accidentally dropped, even without saying a word to the staff. Prompt, friendly and very knowledgeable. I had the Niçoise salad, which was perfect with fresh, seared tuna, warm seasoned baby potatoes, small black olives that pack a punch of flavor. All the ingredients perfectly seasoned and at the freshest temperature. We had some cocktails, which were great. And the Crêpes Suzette were perfect with layers of fresh orange ingredients—delicious! We highly recommend Madison Oh lala. Finally, a lunch spot with air conditioning, beautiful ambiance, excellent menu and the best service.

What an amazing spot in Playa del Carmen! It’s definitely one of the best restaurants in the area. The lychee martini was on a different level — very well-balanced and tasty. I’ve tried lychee martinis in more than 50 different restaurants, and the one at Maison is by far the best I’ve had. They treated me to a delicious complimentary flatbread with goat cheese. I ordered the Spanish garlic shrimp, which was tasty, and finished with an incredible preparation of octopus — it tasted amazing. I don’t usually write reviews, but this place truly deserves it! The service from Cielo, a very kind and attentive lady, was fantastic. What a pleasant experience. I will definitely come back!

OMG!!! So happy we came here. The food and the service were exceptional!!!! Clara made our experience even better with her warmth and hospitality. It’s a must when in Playa. So, I have returned to their new location and once again they did not disappoint!!! Beyond amazing, warm and cozy atmosphere and Alejandro gave us great recommendations and his hospitality was exceptional. Thank you chef for another great meal!!! This restaurant is a MUST when in Playa!

Came here with my partner for my birthday dinner. In summary, the food and service were fantastic. Alex served us tonight and he was so kind, and I greatly enjoyed our brief conversations about Playa, Mexican culture, and food in general. We ordered the scallop appetizer, salad, filet mignon with red wine sauce, beef tenderloin, and the Thai curry. My favorite dish was the scallops - perfectly cooked, excellent flavors, and beautiful presentation. The filet mignon was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and also had an amazing char. Everything was delicious and Alex welcomed us so warmly, and I’m very happy that my partner and I came here to celebrate my birthday. I would love to come back and 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone in Playa del Carmen!

Ipanemas Grill is a modern steakhouse that brings the vibrant flavors of Brazilian rodizio-style barbecue to life. Nestled in Playa del Carmen, this culinary gem offers an extensive salad bar alongside 18 different cuts of succulent meats, including beef, pork, chicken, and lamb—all USDA and Angus certified for quality. Guests can indulge in a delightful all-you-can-eat experience where juicy grilled meats are served on skewers right at your table.
Wow my partner and I had dinner there last night and it was absolutely amazing! The food was well seasoned and with many options. There's a buffet bar with a bunch of sides you can accompany with the meat. We chose the traditional package and there was so many options of meat and they were so delicious. You are offered a new type of meat every 3-5 minutes! The service was 10/10 and the manager attended to all tables ensuring we always had what we needed. Great food Great service! I would highly recommend! There was a time that the lights were turned down for a Happy Birthday presentation and we realized it really enhanced the ambiance. If there was a little lamp or candle on the tables with the lights dimmed, definitely made the dinner feel more intimate and private.

We went on anniversary there bcs my partner loves meat, some of it was over-salted (you can basically see the salt of some of the meats they serve there), salad selection was good, and service was great. We have been told that water is complimentary, however, we have been charged 230 for it + service. Deserts were terrible, unfortunately. Again as I mentioned service is good, but if we would want to go just for a steak we would go somewhere else. If you eat a lot you should go, but if not - it's just waste of your money. If you want famous guacamole you have to pay extra as well 260pesos, but it's prepared in front of you which was a nice touch.

Really good buffet. I didn't know how to say bottomless mimosa but 'open bar' seemed to do the trick. The bespoke omelet bar was surprisingly on-point. My waitress, Marisela, did not miss one opportunity to refill my open bar mimosa. I will return soon........... but next time my open bar won't start at 7:30 am. Hehe

Stayed in the hotel across the street and had breakfast here for 4 days. Best moment of the day....... everything you want is at the buffet and je staff is friendly! The guy from the omelett counter deserves his own restaurant! Loved it!

Good food and meat, friendly service. The only thing is that I am not from Mexico and my partner is. They charged me more simply because I was not Mexican. We got charged two different prices on the same bill but were there together and paid the bill as one and not separate.

Had breakfast here every day, as part of bed and breakfast from the Magic Blue Spa Boutique Hotel. All the staff are great, friendly and just the right balance of attentiveness. There is a good selection of food, both hot and cold. It is a buffet breakfast.
Darren J — Google review
The buffet selection is not very large. The dessert section is quite weak. However, the meat and seafood are very tasty. The price is a bit high — a small bottle of mineral water costs 85 pesos 🥶. For 3 people, the total was 220 USD.

Excellent meat, medium rare served, so-so buffet and good wine/service. The place offers the typical all you can eat meat solution. If you like food meat, you’ll definitely love that place since it offers everything you need. In comparison with the price, it’s a fair deal and worth the money. If you come a bit earlier, just get yourself their offer of a free Capirinha. The staff is nice and helpful as well and even brought more meat on request. Definitely recommended.

500 GRAMOS Italian Steakhouse and Grill is a hidden gem located in a small plaza off 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. This Argentinian restaurant is renowned for its mouthwatering grilled meats and an impressive selection of Argentine wines. The ambiance is delightful, with a sax player providing background music and moody low lighting creating a cozy atmosphere. The menu offers perfect portions of steak, accompanied by delectable sides such as pasta dishes or mashed potatoes.
This is a great steakhouse with wonderful service and a nice location. I had the Chefs Salad and shared the Cowboy Prime steak with my husband. Both were delicious. I liked that they showed you the different cuts of steaks and also described them. It gave you an idea of the size for each one. The mushrooms on top of the steak were the perfect touch and the mashed potatoes were the best. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Our server Damian was beyond exceptional. Everything we ordered from the salad, to the carpaccio to our filet & ribeye had insane flavors. The atmosphere was quite & romantic, the best dinner we had during our entire stay. My husband & I are huge fans of this place, we highly recommend. We will definitely be back.

We really enjoyed this restaurant overall. We had a great bottle of wine, filet minion and a t-bone. The service was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. The steaks were very tasty, my filet was cooked perfectly, I like it medium, pink in the middle with no blood. The steak was a little chewy. I had hoped for a melt in your mouth experience but despite that I enjoyed the flavor. My husband's t-bone was a little thin but flavor wise again, very good and not chewy at all. The veggies were very al dente, rosemary potatoes lovely. Overall we enjoyed this restaurant. Have paid a lot more for steaks that weren't as flavorful. The restaurant itself is in the courtyard of the San Pedro hotel. Most of the seating was outdoors and the staff made sure we had fans on us to help cool us.

Such an amazing spot!! My partner & I love the food here. The steak was so soft, vegetables & potatoes seasoned perfectly - one of our favourite spots in playa! Our server tonight was also great. They also have a deal for September; 2 can dine for $999 which includes two meals and two glasses of wine🍷🙂

CELIAC FRIENDLY. Best service and very knowledgeable on celiac disease. I eat here everything I visit and I have never had issues with cross contamination. The food is so amazing. I always have the prime rib. This last time I added the shrimp. It was so yummy.

I love that this place is in the middle of everything but still a little hidden and not noisy so you can enjoy a nice meal and a conversation. I don’t eat meat so I had ambulate salad and a seafood soup, both were great! Prices are great for such a location. Stuff is always friendly too. Thank you!

This is our 2nd time visiting this outstanding restaurant in Playa del Carmen on 5th Avenue. My sister and I ate there on Friday, October 24th. As usual, the waiter was outstanding and attentive as well as very friendly. The food is absolutely 💯 delicious. Their cocktails 🍸 are just as outstanding. I enjoyed a delicious lemon 🍋 drop martini. My sister enjoyed the sangria. I enjoyed the grilled shrimp and she had the shrimp scampi. The cabrese salad was also delicious and we loved the fresh Italian bread. We also appreciate the location, as it is just steps back from the main thoroughfare which can be noisy. This way you can still see people passing by from a short distance, but have some privacy to enjoy your meal. We will be back again next year!!!

GREAT SERVICE- Below Average Steaks. The meat quality is lacking. They charge 500+ pesos for a steak yet its of low quality. Don Sirloin, the Taco spot, literally has higher quality beef. I'm from Texas, I know a good steak and the meat quality is just simply sub par. That said, the service and environment is good. But if you want a good steak, and you know what good steak tastes like, you won't find it here.

Isaid was our server and he was excellent! An absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and attentive. Every dish was bursting with flavor — fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation, and perfect seasoning. The ambiance was cozy yet refined, making it ideal for both casual dinners and special occasions. Easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. Highly recommended!

I dined alone at La Perla Pixan and had such a fantastic experience. Charlie was an amazing waiter and guided me through the menu, recommending the chicken mole as I wanted to try a more traditional dish. The food was fantastic along with cocktails and I highly recommend anyone in Playa Del Carmen stop by for lunch. Great food + lovely service + relaxing atmosphere + affordable prices = 5 star stop!

Situated on Calle 38 prettiest street to the beach in a tropical environment of palm trees and a stream what a lovely setting. Damien gave us time to get comfortably seated then asked if we wanted menus in Spanish or English . After just right amount of time he took our drink orders which were cold press coffee and a cold latte. He automatically brought cream and asked if we wanted sweetener rather than waiting for us to ask. This is when I knew I would do a review because his customer service was excellent, After placing our food orders he asked if we would like a plate of fresh fruit which told me he was trying to not only increase sales for the business owner but add something we would enjoy. I would have taken a photo of the fruit if we haven’t eaten it so fast. The chiliquilies with chicken had delicious green sauce and tender shredded moist chicken and the hot cakes were light as can be not heavy like many places. They gladly switched the honey to maple syrup when requested and the chocolate was a nice addition.

LOVED this place! Outstanding service, amazing food, and great vibes. We ordered the stuffed peppers and braised pork shank, both were the best we’ve had. Loved the authentic live performers too. Rockas Jamaican Kitchen in Playa Del Carmen offers an unexpected delight with its authentic Jamaican cuisine. This family-owned restaurant serves up classic dishes like jerk chicken, Jamaican patties, seafood pasta, and coconut shrimp. The Rasta Pasta is a must-try, featuring a spicy Jamaican sauce with jerk chicken and grilled shrimp. Despite its rustic and unassuming ambiance, the friendly service and welcoming atmosphere make it a top dining spot in the area.
Rockas Jamaican Kitchen is an absolute gem in Playa del Carmen! From the moment we arrived, the vibes were unmatched — warm, welcoming, and full of life. The food was out of this world: authentic, home-cooked Jamaican and Vietnamese dishes bursting with flavor, clearly made with love and attention to detail. You can truly taste the passion in every bite. Stephanie, the owner, has created something very special here, and it shows in every aspect of the experience. We were looked after by Eugenio, who was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. If you’re in Playa del Carmen, do yourself a favor and come here — you won’t regret it. Rokas on Calle 38 offers a delightful and unexpected culinary experience, blending the vibrant soul of Jamaica with a creative kiss of Asian flavors. The egg rolls are a must-try, delivering a wonderfully yummy surprise, and their cocktails are as creative and refreshing as they are potent. Shout out to our server Liberato who gave us great tips on what to order.

Man, Rockas in Playa del Carmen is a whole vibe! I'm still thinking about those jerk chicken wings. The sweet and spicy combo hit me just right. And the egg rolls? Crispy, savory, and gone in seconds. It's the kind of place where you go for a quick bite and end up staying for the good food and good times. A must-visit!

One word: Rasta Pasta. Let me give you the best tip you’ll read today: just order the Rasta Pasta. Trust me, you won’t regret it. We came here for dinner and I went for the Rasta Pasta with lobster. I’ve honestly never had anything like it, the mix of pasta with rich, flavorful jerk sauce is delicous. The lobster was cooked perfectly, and as a bonus, you get a piece of tender jerk chicken on the side. This dish is a no-brainer. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with staff who make you feel welcome. Just keep in mind: the bill doesn’t include a tip, and they usually work cash-only. Also, I had to wait a bit longer for my Rasta Pasta, but it was worth every single minute. If you go, do yourself a favor, skip the overthinking and get the Rasta Pasta.
Kishan — Google review
Rockas Jamaican Kitchen came highly recommended, and it did not disappoint! I ordered the Rasta Pasta with shrimp, which was suggested by a friend, and it was absolutely delicious. I normally don’t finish an entire plate, but this one was wiped clean, that says a lot! The flavors were bold, creamy, cheesy and had a good level of spice. My husband went for the Garlic Shrimp with rice and vegetables, a light yet flavorful dish that he really enjoyed. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, and our waiter, Jose, was fantastic, attentive and friendly. If you’re craving a Cajun-spiced, flavorful pasta or just want to enjoy authentic flavors in Playa del Carmen, this is the spot! Highly recommend checking it out.

A wonderful, interesting restaurant & cantina on the most beautiful street in Playa Del Carmen! You'll find this fusion Jamaican / Vietnamese gem on tree-lined 38th street with Cenotes nearby, east of Quinta Avenue along the way to the 38th street entrance to the beach. I have dined in Jamaica & Vietnam, love both cuisines, regularly make Jerk Chicken at home so this place definitely caught my eye, wondering about such an exotic blend of cultures. I met the proprietor and had a nice chat, finding out she has one parent from Jamaica and another from Vietnam. This place clearly is the real deal, with her family background providing the cultural mix and recipes used here, along with local influences. Such a treat! Dining here, we shared a couple of dishes accompanied by beer for me and wine for my friend. I had the jerk chicken tacos, my friend had the shrimp brochette. Both had fresh vibrant ingredients, very well-balanced seasonings and flavors, cooked perfectly (hard to do with shrimp)! The jerk seasoning was deep, flavorful and well-balanced. It was not strong and overpowering, a nice flavor profile that added to the overall balanced flavor, didn't overpower it. All reasonably priced, in a beautiful setting, excellent service, and vibe-setting reggae playing in the background at a perfect volume (you could hear it but it did not overpower a conversation). My #1 favorite restaurant here, I will be back! Check it out yourself!!!

Two words: Rasta Pasta - don’t over think it, just order it!! It’s DELICIOUS. It’s a creamy, garlic infused pasta dish with jerk seasoning and topped with juicy shrimp and lobster. I wish they served it with bread so I could just soak up every last drop of the sauce. Phenomenal! I also have to say, their jerk chicken wings were very good as well, and their habanero sauce has a lot of flavour and heat for those who like spicy food. Be forewarned that this is a cash only establishment. I look forward to returning and trying their Vietnamese dishes, as they offer both Jamaican and Vietnamese options. Special thanks to Eugenio for the great service and attention :)

This is a hidden gem in PDC. We loved it so much we went 3 times during our week stay. The food and service was fantastic. The roasted chicken is not only tender and delicious but so reasonably priced also. That sauce is killer, spicy but very flavorful not just heat. Its like French/Mexican fusion which was awesome. I also had the pasta one night and it was so creamy and tasty. Each time we ate there our bill never surpassed 500pesos. Best service I experienced all week while I was in Mexico. The restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere away from the bustling 5th Avenue. Guests can savor delightful tostadas topped with various ingredients and choose from an array of taco options, including octopus and shrimp or steamed fish with cheese.
This is one of my favorite restaurants, only a few minutes walk from my condo in center of Playa del Carmen. I go here every time I’m in town. Good service and excellent food and drinks.

Overpriced for what they offer. The plates are small and expensive. A simple hamburger around USD16. Also, the drinks are a rip-off: a large 1-liter glass of margarita costs around USD20 but is mostly ice with some kind of sweet juice. The tequila is completely imperceptible. When I asked why it was so light, they told me it was to make the effect more noticeable. I don’t recommend it.

We just loved the food n the drinks in this restaurant. We were looking for a good n authentic Mexican seafood restaurant in the Playa del Carmen area. We chose this one seeing the reviews. We ordered spicy octopus (pollos), tasty crabs and rock n roll shrimp ( dynamite shrimps ). The quantity n the taste was really nice and the items were much cheaper compared to other similar restaurants in that area. I would definitely love to come back.

Highly accessible location. The service was kinda lazy and the food was good—the atmosphere was chill, nothing super memorable. I got the fish aguachile and got the basic sauce. Presentation was nice, good portion for the 1/2 portion. Clean flavors but nothing really stood out. I’d say it’s a little overpriced for what you get in the end.

Best Brazilian Steakhouse i have ever been to and that includes Europe! They ask how you like your meat cooked, which is unusual, so you know you are taken well care of. The "salad" bar is filled with large shrimp cooked all different ways, including coconut. Cheeses from Wisconsin (my fave) and perfectly grilled veggies. We have been here 3 times and it is always perfect! "Chefs kiss💋"

This was the absolute best dining experience we’ve ever had. We were visiting to celebrate my birthday on our last day in Playa Del Carmen. We got the seafood option and had no idea it would be the most amazing 6 or 7 courses lol we lost count! Our server was absolutely wonderful. Professional. Humorous. We laughed all night. He told my sister’s husband he could take a nap and he’d wake him for our next course. Don’t be a rookie like us. Be light on the buffet plates. This is absolutely a once in lifetime experience as I’ve never felt so spoiled. The reviews stating this place is not worth the money or time may be from Inpatient people or those who don’t understand the relaxed environment that should exist here. It took a while for services to start bringing around meats but you absolutely need to pace yourself. The seafood option was $1500ish pesos per person. In total for myself and my partner we spent under $300 usd with gratuity, 2 strawberry margaritas and dessert included in the final price. If you’re visiting playa del Carmen it’s a must! Ohhhh and when we finally gave up trying to finish our food, our server boxed our final courses. Even that was great as each course was group into one container with all four servings. Super helpful as we enjoyed today!

I generally don't write reviews like this, but my recent experience was so negative that I feel it's important to share. Firstly, the restaurant was uncomfortably warm. The air conditioning was barely noticeable, and on a very hot and humid day, we were sweating indoors. Secondly, the quality of the meat was poor. Many of the options were tough and chewy, similar to chewing gum. The most significant issue arose the following day when I noticed a charge of 1,923 pesos (approximately 100 USD) on my card. I returned to the restaurant to question this, as my bill should have been 790 pesos plus tip. After checking their records, they admitted to an error in the additional charges, which had not been explained at the time of payment. The manager offered me 500 pesos in cash to resolve the discrepancy. I explained that we had clearly authorized a charge for 790 pesos plus tip, not 1,923 pesos. They refused to correct the charge on my card and insisted I take the 500 pesos cash. The entire situation felt very unprofessional, especially when I noticed they were attempting to film me signing a receipt to accept the 500 pesos. At that point, I became upset and left. I will be disputing the charge with my bank. This meal, which should have cost 790 pesos, was definitely not worth it, and the subsequent billing issues made the experience even worse. I strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant

They provide such lousy service, ask us to leave within 40 minutes without finishing eating dinner because of a new shift tonight, and give 20% tips on the bill without consent. The meat is extremely salty, too much rock salt, quality of meat was very poor, $1200 peso per person.

Excellent food!! So tasty and abundant. A lot of options for everyone. Service was incredible, our waiter was Gerardo and he was really attentive. Everyone was super nice. We had meat and seafood, all was truly great. They have A/C which is great at Playa (being so hot always) Price was approximately 700 mexican pesos per person(for all you can eat) plus drinks and dessert.

El Fogon is a popular restaurant in Playa del Carmen, known for its delicious food and friendly staff. It's not a fine dining establishment, but it offers generous portions of tasty Mexican dishes. Visitors recommend trying the nachos, chicken fajita, and sirloin los alambres. The nachos come with a bean sauce that can make the chips soggy, so it's best to eat them quickly. The pineapple juice is refreshing and doesn't contain added sugars.
We probably ate here 4 times a week during our trip. El Fogon had the tastiest, simplest tacos I had in PDC. And although it gets busy, the staff is great, the service is quick, & the tacos are out of this world. A simple pollo taco and Modelo meal made all my days worth it! I’d 100% recommend.

First stop in playa de Carmen was of course to eat tacos ! Our first experience with El Fogon was amazing , the tacos were awesome , the Chorizo tacos were the best chorizo taco’s we’ve tasted in Cancun, playa, or tulum ! You have to give those a try , service was fine and our server was awesome as well , plenty of street parking and fair/Average prices , would definitely be coming back !

This location was on our way back from Chichen Itza. The food was good, we ordered nachos, chicken fajita, sirloin los alambres. Too much food, we packed 1/2 of the food and they included extra sides (cactus, cucumber, dips). Nachos are covered in a bean sauce which makes the chips soggy, so eat that quickly. Pineapple juice was refreshing (no added sugars). There was a server who kindly spoke and translated from the menu items to us in English. We left a 15% tip which they were very appreciative.

Lido Beach Club Restaurant is a vibrant beachfront spot in Playa del Carmen, offering an extensive cocktail menu and a variety of dishes including tacos, burgers, and seafood. It's a popular hangout with live music performances most afternoons, creating the perfect setting to bask in the sun and enjoy refreshing drinks. The atmosphere is described as tropical and charming, with beachfront seating adding to its appeal. This beach club is highly regarded by locals for its tasty food and fantastic service.
This place got recommended from the hotel we were staying at and I’m so glad they recommended this place! It was absolutely fabulous! Where to start. You have a minimum you have to order from the menu but it is well worth it. The place was so cute, clean, not super busy (we were there on a Saturday in April) didn’t even reserve chairs. The beach was gorgeous. The staff were so nice and the pacing of asking what else we wanted was great. We all loved our food and drinks. I would 1000% come back here

Small, upscale restaurant right on the beach. The customer service here is unmatched in this area! The dining tables are tiered on multiple level decks, a bar overlooking the ocean, and tables in the sand. They have made some beautiful renovations to the bar. We were served a sampling of complimentary Huitlacoche from the chef - a new menu item. Don’t look up the translation, just try it - we were so impressed! A traditional Aztec delicacy! Try the Garlic Shrimp and the Brisket - both were excellent. If you dine in the sand, wear bug spray! (This goes for all beach restaurants in Playa Del Carmen)

This place is definitely worth a visit! We went for lunch and had the tuna tartare, shrimp tacos and salmon tacos, which were all very tasty and well prepared. Drinks were also great, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Plus, you get a great view of the ocean!

Since many years, the best place between Cancun and Chetumal to relax/eat/drink on the Caribbean beach. Sine 10-15 years (or +) constantly lowest prices for excellent food and drinks. Whenever I'm around here, together with family, this place is a must to visit and stay for a whole day!

A wonderful and beautiful place on the shore. The tables are literally on the sand and the warm waves roll up to your feet. There is tropical vegetation around and the place looks like a small corner of paradise. Always crowded, noisy. We tried to have lunch, but it didn’t work out very well. We waited for the ordered appetizers for 1 hour and 20 minutes. The chairs are very rigid and not comfortable, and it is quite difficult to sit on them for an extra hour and a half. Only drinks helped, which we had to drink 4 times more than we planned. The food turned out to be quite tasty and we decided to order the main dishes. The waiter promised to speed up the process as much as possible and did not cheat. After 30 minutes and a couple more rounds of drinks, we got our pasta and grilled octopus. Unfortunately, it was not possible to eat. The pasta was overcooked and the octopus was so raw that we couldn’t even cut it. At the same time, tips in the amount of 15-20% was included in the bill.

Sonora Prime Playa del Carmen is a top-notch restaurant located on an upper level overlooking the lively 5th Avenue. It offers a modern and spacious atmosphere with two dining spaces. The menu features upscale Mexican dishes prepared with a contemporary twist, along with an impressive array of wines and cocktails. This fine dining establishment caters to steak and seafood enthusiasts, offering premium cuts of meat including classic New York strips and indulgent Kobe options.
We had an absolutely fantastic time celebrating Baby Mama's birthday, and it was all thanks to our incredible waiter, Cesar Miguel! The food was nothing short of excellent, each dish bursting with flavor, and the beverages? Simply perfected to tantalize our taste buds. The ambiance of the restaurant was just right—elegant and refined, exactly what we dreamed of for an upscale dining experience. Miguel blew us away with his knowledge; his expertise in wines and pairings was impressive and truly elevated our meal. What a memorable night!

Visited during Spring Break. The restaurant is beautiful and I love the diverse music/videos. It has potential to be a great vibe. The restaurant was not really busy however, service was slow for both food and drinks. The 3 stars are for the ambiance, bean dip, spicy salsas (verde was my fave) and the broccoli. We had: • Berry Martini: Fresh berries but not very tasty • A drink served in a coconut- don’t remember the name but that one was actually good. • Octopus Chicharron: Requested it to be crispier but it still had a soggy exterior. • Onion Soup: It was entirely way too sweet. The soup itself had the right ratio of onions and cheese and served piping hot (which isn’t common believe it or not) and I’m glad it was hot. • Cowboy Dry Aged Prime Steak: I was extremely disappointed in this overpriced steak- I’m pretty easy going yet have expectations of certain types of steak and how it’s cooked. We ordered medium rare and it was soooo rare and requested it to be seared on both sides but I think the language barrier didn’t result in a seared steak. I think Mexico also just has different understanding of steak temps and definition of “USDA Prime”. We could barely cut the steak.. it was so chewy and I had to dang near tear the steak to even get a palatable piece. We never send steak back but we just needed to and asked that it be cooked a tad longer. They did bring out a hot grill plate to cook the steak but it still did not help. It was also flavorless and did not taste like a dry aged steak— It tasted and cuts like a Walmart sirloin. • The broccoli was soooooo good. It was seasoned and cooked perfectly enhanced by a citrus element- probably lemon. • Mashed potatoes were creamy but needed more garlic or some other seasonings. It had an interesting after taste- I think from either the cream , cheese or butter that they use. Will never go back and will never order steak in Mexico again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had an absolutely incredible dining experience at Sonora Grill in Playa del Carmen. From the moment I arrived, the service, the setting, and the overall environment were simply immaculate. I started with the ribeye-wrapped asparagus which set the tone for an unforgettable evening. For my main course, I had the Beef Wellington, and it was perfection—cooked beautifully, tender, and full of flavor. To pair with the meal, I enjoyed a few glasses of Malbec that complemented everything wonderfully. What truly stood out was the attentive and top-notch service. Every detail was taken care of, and the staff made sure the experience was seamless from beginning to end. The ambiance is warm and elegant, creating the perfect balance between sophistication and comfort. Without a doubt, Sonora Grill exceeded my expectations in every way. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an outstanding dining experience in Playa del Carmen—I’ll definitely be returning!

La Vaca Gaucha is an Argentine-style parilla known for its bustling patio and lively atmosphere, especially after 9 p.m. Guests rave about the fresh-baked bread with chimichurri sauce and a diverse meat and cheese tray. The smoky Argentine sausage is a standout, even for those who don't typically enjoy sausage. Visitors also praise the attentive staff, excellent music, and friendly ambiance.
Came back for lunch today . Karina is a very good host and warmly remember me. I choose the spaghetti pasta with a cold lemonade :) Delicious 🌞😃

La Vaca Gaucha, located at 5 Avenida offers a nice and cozy atmosphere with a great ambiance and a relaxed vibe. You can enjoy live music while you dine, because there are many street entertainers on the street. It's a good spot for a casual meal with friends or family, and you can also watch sports there. The restaurant is situated on the infamous 5th Avenue, providing a great location. I had the skirt steak well done with a baked potato and it was good, they were great options for customized cocktails and a really great extensive list of wines I chose a Mexican Merlot just to taste. It's an Argentinian steakhouse and there are quite a few more of these on 5th Street that I will be trying out so I can compare them all.

One of those places on 5th where the restaurant looks fantastic but the food is so-so. We started off with the little bread rolls they bring to the table. They were like rocks. We were literally knocking them on the table trying to break them open. Rest of our meal tasted like something you’d get at a diner in the states. Not terrible, but not good either.

Was craving a hamburger on Sunday. Mo burger was close so we went here instead. I thought what the heck a steakhouse is going to make an awesome burger. Unfortunately not. This is the second time I’ve had a burger here in Playa where it’s mushy inside, they add things where the burger meat doesn’t char well, it doesn’t harden up a little bit. You know when you get that little meat texture real meat texture instead of the soft gooey yuckiness, a most disgusting hamburger. Service were great. Atmosphere is nice and the drinks were really good. I found basically every restaurant on 5th , except for Harry’s, French cafe on 34th and Nicolletti’s, have subpar food. Will I go here again, nope. Mo Burger makes the best I’ve had in Playa.

TLDR: okay food, server adds tips for himself Came here for burgers 3x. Hit and miss sometimes good sometimes the bread is very stale. Service is mostly not very attentive just takes your order and comes back once if that. During my lunch today the server came once to check on me which I didn’t mind since I wanted to have a quick in and out lunch this time around. Problem came around bill time. Server tried to stamp over the total and wrote a different total with a 15% tip added. He automatically added this to the machine instead of asking me first. When I asked to see the bill he then he says if I would like to add tip. Still tipped him that amount but really left a bad taste in my mouth. I usually tip 20% but this guy just seems very deceptive.

Excellent service!! Atmosphere was great. Food was delicious. My steak was not cooked the way I wanted but still good. This place deserves a visit if you are in Playa Del Carmon. It was right off 5th street.

This place seem beautiful to have dinner at. We order a burger and pizza. I expected a more doughy pizza since thats what I saw on other reviews, still it was good. Service was pretty good even though it was busy. The only thing I did not like was the live music, since I would rather have had a more calm dinner.

The drinks (2 for 1) were especially good!! I ordered the octopus and a side of fries. It was really good, some parts tender and others pretty tough. The meal also came with a side salad and there was bread (also pretty good) served for the table. Overall this was a good meal.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Playa del Carmen, Hard Rock Cafe offers a thrilling rock 'n' roll experience that perfectly blends music and dining. This iconic chain is renowned for its energetic ambiance and serves up a delightful array of American classics, including burgers, chicken tenders, and ribs. The cafe's prime location on the main street features inviting outdoor seating that overlooks a quieter side street, making it an ideal spot to relax while soaking in the local atmosphere.
We had an amazing experience at this cozy Mexican restaurant! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a casual night out or a special celebration. The food is absolutely delicious, with vibrant flavors and fresh ingredients that truly stand out. Their cocktails are equally impressive—well-crafted and packed with flavor. To top it all off, the service is incredibly friendly and attentive, making the entire experience even better. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for great food, drinks, and a welcoming vibe!

I am a HRC fan for life and I’ve been to every location in North and South America, Europe and Asia, from Norway to Colombia and all around! This is the SKETCHIEST HRC I’ve ever been to. We left this place for our last night in Playa and what a huge disappointment!!! 1. I come to HRC for the atmosphere and the music, because it brings me memories of the good old times in music. When we came in they were playing just some horrible techno music full volume which totally started our experience with the wrong foot. I asked the nice server and he said that on Sundays they try new music to try to bring different clientele. First of all the place was EMPTY for dinner when all the adjacent restaurants on 5th were packed so clearly this is not worming. The employee was very nice and did change the music, when he asked me what music to play, I looked at him and gave him a “really? HRC music!” 2. We got some chicken sandwiches and burgers which come with fries but we “upgraded” to the bacon cheese fries and instead of an upgrade we got a second order of fries, yes fries with the burger and sandwich and an extra side of cheese bacon fries… why? Well to charge us more for an additional side! I’ve NEVER experience this anywhere in the world! 3. Finally when departing we went to check the souvenir shop because my son and I collect drum sticks from around the word and there were barely any merchandise, like just tshirts and nothing else. This location is an EMBARRASSMENT to the HRC brand… they better close it if they are going to offer such a subpar experience. I will never be back and you reading this avoid the lame experience!

Hard Rock Cafe Playa Del Carmen – 12/29/2024 I ordered the Twisted Mac, Chicken, and Cheese, which, according to the Hard Rock Cafe Playa Del Carmen website, features 100% all-natural grilled chicken breast served on cavatappi pasta tossed in a four-cheese sauce with diced red peppers. Unfortunately, my experience did not match what was advertised. Here’s what I received: • Chicken: The chicken was cold. • Pasta: Instead of cavatappi, I was served fusilli (see pictures for comparison). • Sauce: The sauce had the taste of a cheap Kraft cheese sauce, not the rich, spicy four-cheese blend I was expecting. • Red Peppers: There were no diced red peppers as stated in the description. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. It was not at all what I anticipated when ordering the Twisted Mac and Cheese at Hard Rock Cafe. To make matters worse, the manager admitted that the meal I was served wasn’t the original recipe. This implies they’re knowingly serving a different dish than what’s listed on the menu without informing customers in advance. That being said, the service was good, and the staff was friendly, but the meal was a major letdown. I expected much better from a place like Hard Rock Cafe.
Camille L — Google review
Small hard rock cafe, still with all of the Hard Rock vibes. Perfect for a beach-side cafe and one of many in the area. This one doesn't have pin badges for the collectors out there. Cocktails and food are just as great as any hard rock. Interesting memorabilia from Kid Rock, No Doubt and Marilyn Manson. Plus you can have a photo op on stage if it's empty.

We like to visit the Hard Rock Café every time we go on vacation. The restaurant in Playa has a very good location on the main street with outdoor seating facing the quieter street next door. The staff is very nice, speaks good English and takes good care of you all the time. We usually order chicken tenders and ribs, so we can compare the quality with other branches. Here, unfortunately, the taste is a little weaker, but still in the HRC standard. The lemonade was too sweet for me. Even so, we highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you feel like taking a break from Mexican cuisine😀

"El Diez" is an Argentinian steakhouse located at 5th Avenue and 30th Street. The restaurant offers a diverse menu, including pasta, chicken, and delicious thin cuts of grilled beef. It provides an effervescent ambiance and a prime location for enjoying cool beverages while observing people from all over the world strolling along the famous 5th Avenue.
Big shout to the mojito. As a former bartender I loved this mojito. Made of real sugar and lemon. This place is amazing. The host is a girl so nice and friendly. The waiters and the food were also amazing. I highly recommend this place. Is my third time here. I’ve eating a lot in playa del Carmen in a lot of places. Some more famous and expensive. This one was my favorite. If you are hangover try The meat soup.

Service was fantastic, same great staff year after year. Skirt steak is the specialty, not as high end as high end steak houses but very reasonable for the price. Grilled veggies, mashed potatoes, grilled onions and peppers were very good sides. Right on Fifth Ave. They have great house wine, ask for the Pingüino.

El Diez was a nice little outdoor Argentinian restaurant. I ordered an entrana which was cooked to medium rare. Loved the thick pieces of stone salt and the mashed potatoes were delicious too. Only thing I think like was there were many solicitors around asking for change which I didn’t not enjoy during my dinner. Overall it was a nice steak dinner

Edit: I returned two weeks later and this time ordered the flank steak and creamed spinach. It was early in the afternoon and the atmosphere was very mellow and peaceful. The flank steak is a much better choice than the New York. I think the NY might be slightly tastier due to the marbling, but the flank is much easier to actually eat, and tastes great! I was expecting something more blended for the creamed spinach, and I absolutely loved their more leafy version. I would continue to go back, but never again get the NY, sadly. Original: Delicious but super tough New York steak. I would eat there again, give them another try, but would never order the NY again. About a third of the steak was inedible and I got really tired of trying to saw through the meat with the dull knife. The parts that were edible were really really good and I enjoyed those a lot. I’m a spice wimp and the two spicy house sauces are both tame enough for me, and taste great with a beer. The service was adequate but not exceptional. The atmosphere is pleasant, but the little street children begging at my table were really sad. Poor things. Given the terrible tough steak and the beggars, I’d say the place is overpriced. It’s roughly USA prices but the experience was not up to the cost.

These are seriously some of the best empanadas I have ever had! (And I have been to Argentina multiple times!) I literally ordered one of each and they were alllll delicious!
Jake B — Google review
We had heard good things about this place, but both of our dinners were awful. The skirt steak was so tough, we could not cut it with a knife much less chew it. The hearts and gizzards that are so popular at many Argentine restaurants were unrecognizable and absolutely tasteless. Turns out they were not from chicken, but from a cow. We traded in the skirt steak for a breaded chicken dish that was also tasteless. Our Mojitos were very good and so was the hot fresh bread at the start of dinner with four different sauces to use with it. The atmosphere was lovely. The staff was very nice, but we never knew who was serving us so it was a little confusing. We did enjoy the strolling musicians and Dancers who passed by the restaurant to do street shows, as we were happy to tip most of them.

La Parrilla is a mexican restaurant in Cancun with a magnificent atmosphere and great food. The octopus was especially tender and the meat was seasoned beautifully. The margaritas were ample and well made. I would definitely come back here at the drop of a sombrero.
This was one of the best meals I have ever had! The food was cooked perfectly, the staff were incredible, attentive and worked together so well. The food came quickly and we opted for Mayan coffee at the end which was a very fun show! We enjoyed the vibrancy on the streets below, and the mariachi band that came up and played in the restaurant during our meal. I had the mariachi tacos and each one was better than the last. I can’t wait to return here time and time again! Oh and do not overlook the lobster tacos- your life will never be the same.

We had soup and steak and cheese tacos. Soup was similar to a can of Campbells and tacos were pretty unappetizing. Friendly staff and maybe a more fun spot to drink at night, but I don’t recommend eating a meal here.

BEWARE of this restaurant! We had a late lunch here. The place is huge and occupies the second floor of the building. It is also located on the corner of 2 major streets and of Quinta Allegria mall. Hard not to miss! First off, the food was good. We had the Mayan fish dish and grilled fish, lime soup and calamari. Not perfect in presentation but tasted well and freshly cooked. We had fun with the new flavors in our taste buds! The servers were friendly and smiling. I could have given them 4 stars easily, but they padded 18% propino on top of our bill without asking. Without seeing the bill yet my spouse told the waiter to add 20% tip for him, until i grabbed his arm when i notice the details of the bill. That's highway robbery! Had we been drinking anybody could have miss it what they did and overcharge just like that. BEWARE of this establishment!

The burrito did not have any sauce or cheese. No cheese on the fajitas. Could not get tap water. The ladies would have liked a gold margarita, but didn't want to pay $27 for it. View of 5th Avenue from the second floor was nice.

This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. When the food finally arrived we tasted it and had to spit into the napkin. Asked for the bill and said this was not good and we couldn’t eat it. The food was expensive compared to other places and tasted like crap. We got 10% off. We have never leaved a restaurant before because of horrible food.

Good Mexican restaurant with decent food and decent service. You can enjoy market and street views while seating there. The food is relatively overpriced (priced for tourists) Note that they pre-charge you for an optional tip so be careful and ask them to change it if you do not agree with the extra charge.

We stayed at a resort about 20 minutes north of Playa Del Carmen. Used a cab service and asked the driver to take us to a local restaurant that served good food. This is the place he took us to, smack on la Quinta Avenida (5th Avenue) very popular touristic avenue full of shops and restaurants and street performers etc... La Parrilla is a very nice restaurant, very opened and aerated. Because it's opened, you still get a good view of traffic, also view the the 5th avenue and the everyday life and often get some street performers too. We chose the upstairs with top view on the street. Occasionally yes you have that one car or motorcycle with loud muffler etc but that part of the everyday noise so wasn't a negative in my view. The servers speak decent English and are very nice, friendly and professional. They'll occasionally drop a joke here and there but nothing offensive or outrageous. They took our order for drinks and then appetizers. I knew this place would be good as we ordered chips and guacamole and they literally make that guac in front of you, throwing in all the spices and condiments and avocado and mix it up for you. Best guacamole I've ever had bar none. And we lived in Texas for years and had our fix of TexMex. Not even close. The appetizers were delicious and then came the main dish we ordered and all of it was just so good we wanted more. Definitely recommend the place. Even had a mariachi guy with a guitar playing some very popular tunes like La Bamba, Cancion dEl Mariachi (from the movie Desperado sung by Antonio Banderas), Guantanamera etc... Now be mindful they already slap a "fee" on the receipt that's a tip (service fee) but we still left extra since you never know how these are distributed. All in all excellent place to grab either a quick bite or just eat good food and enjoy drinks. And they don't wimp out on alcohol in their drink. They load it. One margarita from there might take you over the edge so be mindful of that. Give this place a try.

L'Italiano Restaurant is a delightful haven for lovers of Italian cuisine, open on select days including Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. With a smart casual dress code that encourages guests to don long pants or dress shorts paired with shirts or polo t-shirts and closed shoes or nice sandals, it sets the stage for an enjoyable dining experience.
L’Italiano has the best carbonara I’ve ever had! The place is cozy, with a warm, welcoming vibe, and the staff is super friendly. We also tried the pizza, which was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, making it a standout spot for Italian food. We’ll definitely be coming back on our next trip!

Beautiful restaurant. We opted for outdoor seating. The scenery was lively and entertaining. The downside about that is that you’re bombarded with people who are constantly trying to sell you something while you’re trying to enjoy your meal. We understand they’re trying to make a living but it’s a little overwhelming while you’re trying to enjoy quality time. Our servers were very friendly and attentive. There’s a wide array of things on their menu. What caught our eye was their brick oven pizza. We ordered a few drinks, the tequila sunrise and mojito was good. However, the sangria was not good. It tasted like watered down wine. The pizza was pretty and tasty but dry. It reminded us of basic flat bread. A little pricey for what we ate. Nonetheless, a nice restaurant.

Our waiter, Ivan is phenomenal and somehow remembered us from when we visited one year before. The prosciutto burrata pizza is an absolute MUST and all of the fruit salads are in amazing. Homemade chili oil and bread comes with all meals. We tried the chocolate soufflé this time and you cannot miss out on it. I usually stay here one month at a time. I try to get my Mexican food fill before coming here eventually because we end of visiting this Italian restaurant multiple times over other places. It feels like a crime to prefer this over authentic Mexican but I cannot deny how good it truly is. Happy to visit again and again. 10/10 one of my favorite places of Playa.

Perfect lil Italian spot. Absolutely loved the Spaghetti alla Carbonara which paired well with the table bread. Friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. Sitting near the road will find you subject to pan handlers and those interested in selling you their wares so an inside seat may be a better option.

We had a fantastic experience at L’Italiano in Playa del Carmen! It was late, and we were starving, but every other Italian restaurant on 5th Avenue had long wait times. Thankfully, we found this hidden gem, and it turned out to be the best decision. The staff was amazing—professional, welcoming, and attentive, making us feel right at home. As for the food, it was absolutely incredible! The pizza was hands down the best we had in Playa del Carmen—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly baked. The pasta was creamy, rich, and absolutely delicious. We also loved the three types of fresh bread they served as an appetizer—a small touch that made a big impression. Yes, it’s a bit on the pricey side, but every bite was worth it. If you’re looking for authentic Italian food with top-notch service, L’Italiano is a must-visit!

Amazing Dinner with a View and Vibes! We had such a memorable dinner at this Italian restaurant in Playa Del Carmen! The patio had an incredible atmosphere — perfect for people-watching right on the strip. While we enjoyed our drinks, we got to watch live street dancers performing just steps away, which really added to the experience. I ordered a Cosmopolitan and it was absolutely delicious — one of the best I’ve had. For dinner, we shared the fresh red snapper, which was filleted tableside and beautifully plated for each of us. It was so fresh and flavorful. We also had the cheese-filled tortellini, and let me just say — they were to die for! The service was top-notch. Our waiters were super friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. It is a bit on the pricier side, but with the food, atmosphere, and experience combined, it was well worth it. I would definitely go back!

Nestled in the vibrant heart of the Mexican Caribbean, Toscana Grill is a delightful haven for those who appreciate exquisite Italian cuisine. This charming restaurant offers an elegant and comfortable atmosphere, perfect for romantic evenings or special celebrations. Each night, guests are treated to captivating live performances that enhance the dining experience. The menu boasts mouthwatering dishes like Tomahawk steaks, T-bone cuts, and some of the finest pasta selections in the region.
Toscana Grill blew me away with their risotto. It’s honestly one of the best I’ve had—perfectly al dente rice, a creamy texture, and rich flavor from the mushrooms. We opted to add shrimp for a bit of surf-and-turf goodness, and it was absolutely the right call. Each bite had that delicious buttery seafood taste mixed with earthy mushrooms. We had lunch there, and including the shrimp, it ended up costing around $33 per person. Totally worth it in my book. The portion size was generous, and the quality was first-rate. If you’re looking for an amazing risotto—especially with shrimp—Toscana Grill is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be going back soon!

Fantastic experience undermined by unprofessional and arrogant attitude of the staff. Overall, the experience was fantastic. The food was exceptional, the service was impeccable excluding 2 horrible situations, and the atmosphere was perfect. The two incidents that completely soured the experience were the following: (1) Mismanaged drink order: We ordered a drink from our waiter and, two minutes later, requested a different waiter to cancel it. He assured us he would take care of it but failed to do so. When the drink arrived, we complained, and he casually responded that he wasn’t responsible for our table. If that was the case, why didn’t he inform us earlier? This lack of accountability is unacceptable. (2) Disrespectful attitude over the tip: Our waiter’s ungrateful and arrogant attitude regarding the tip was appalling. It showed a complete lack of professionalism and left a sour impression at the end of what could have been a great meal. For these reasons, I’m rating the service 1 star, which impacts the overall rating, bringing it down to 4 stars instead of 5. Excellent food and ambiance alone can’t make up for subpar service.

The ambience was welcoming. Customer service was good. We had issue with one of our pizzas. It was not cooked very well and 2nd try to reheat burned the pizza. They made things right by not charging for that pizza. The spaghetti was a hit with my kids as well as the pizzas. I had the fettuccine lobster which was different. If you have a chance to stop by, you will enjoy the pizza and spaghetti 🍝.

I had a wonderful experience at this Italian restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious — fresh ingredients and authentic flavors that truly reminded me of Italy. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, perfect for a relaxed dinner. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Large portions but terribly unsatisfying. Real lack of flavor in both the pizza and chicken parm. The pizza did not taste bad but no flavor. No oregano in the sauce and pepperoni is not what you expect. The bread that comes out at the beginning with the oil has the most flavor. The chicken parm is large but not crispy and the sauce is as mentioned before so it effects the dish. All the soda is flat here, no fountain drinks

Lara & Luca Playa del Carmen is a charming French-inspired cafe and bakery located near the entrance to Playacar. It offers a relaxed atmosphere and a diverse menu featuring fresh pastries, croissants, traditional breakfast dishes like pancakes and eggs benedict, as well as specialty toasts. The cafe also serves lunch and dinner options such as pasta with meat sauce or tostadas.
The food was delicious! Especially the avocado toast: the tomatoes were super flavorful. It came out fast and the portions were a good size for a good price. The fresh juices were so good as well and the atmosphere was very cozy. Our waiter was super friendly and nice too. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

I thought this place was okay. The coffee and pastries were very good. The eggs in the vegetarian omelette were a tad rubbery, and the French toast was inconsistent- some pieces were very soft and others were burnt. The free bread and yogurt were both very tasty and appreciated. Thank you

An environment where you'll find a different gastronomic offering and a delicious fusion of flavors and combinations of dishes with a novel Mexican style, delicious comfort, and a very local and chic atmosphere. They have areas of opportunity in the service; one of the dishes we ordered was forgotten to be prepared, and we also asked three times for a simple order of bread to be served. It took more than 20 minutes. This is because they are waiting for the table, since the space is small, it doesn't work for the restaurant.

A magnificent restaurant in Playa Del Carmen with exceptional service and mouthwatering dishes. Whether you’re attending for breakfast or lunch you will not be disappointed. The staff were most delightful and attentive. The restaurant itself was very clean and had an intriguing feel. The menu is well diverse with a good selection. The hotcakes are a must to try; very tasty.

Anyone who has given a negative review of this restaurant is as bitter as they come, and needs to go home and count their blessings. This place is fantastic, we had some of the best chilaquiles (with picaña) and eggs benedict outside of my own home. The juice, coffee, complimentary yogurt starter, and croissants are also phenomenal.

Trendy food spot near Playa Car that’s worth a visit. Stopped by this place after seeing how good the food looked coming out of the kitchen—beautifully plated, fresh, and clearly made with care. The vibe is casual yet modern, with a trendy beach-town feel that fits the Playa Car scene perfectly. I ordered the croquette sandwich with an egg, and it absolutely delivered. The croquette was crispy on the outside, soft and savory inside, and the egg added a nice richness. What really elevated the whole dish, though, was the aioli—creamy, tangy, and packed with flavor. It tied everything together beautifully. Honestly, they should bottle that stuff. A nice surprise was the complimentary yogurt with grains that came out before the meal. It was a thoughtful touch—light, subtly sweet, and a great palate teaser before the main dish arrived. It gave the whole experience a more refined feel without being pretentious. Service-wise, it was minimal but efficient. The waitress was polite but a bit dry—no real recommendations or extra engagement—but everything arrived promptly and correctly, so no complaints there. All in all, it’s a spot I’d happily return to. The food is excellent, the vibe is chill, and little touches like the complimentary yogurt show they’re paying attention. Definitely a solid find near Playa Car.

A hidden gem. By far my favourite breakfast place in Playa. They will start you off with a free granola-topped yogurt with passion fruit on the bottom. DELISH! The food is excellent. I always order Babaganoush toast. It’s is layered with goodness! I add 2 eggs and chicken breast for some protein. The chicken is actually tender and not too dry. Their batard bread is always fresh and toasted to perfection. If you like a strong yet creamy coffee, order their flat white. My only complaint is I have to order my flat white or cappuccino extra hot because they usually don’t make it hot enough. The service is great. The prices are reasonable. On the weekend get there early because it gets very busy around 10:00am. There’s a very friendly parking attendant that will hook you up with parking. Try this place, you won’t be disappointed!

Taco restaurant
El Fogón is a lively 2-story restaurant known for its slow-roasted pork tacos, pozole, and other meat-based dishes. With two convenient locations, it's a popular choice for both locals and tourists. The tantalizing aroma of sizzling meats on rotating spits greets early diners, featuring pineapple pork (tacos al pastor) and spicy beef options.
Food here was a joke & our server who i never got the name of was also brilliant. We was recommend here by locals & there were also only locals in here. The food was so tasty even though it didn't look great it tasted fantastic. The price paid was great too & we ended up paying less than £20 per person. Considering I had two drinks as seen by the size I think that's good going. I would be careful ordering a taco dish though as that's the price paid for one, so make sure you order a few! The potatoes dish is a jacket potato loaded. So don't expect loaded fries. Definitely recommend eating local cuisine here. & continues to hit my opinion, if it looks bad from the outside, it never is, it's probably better than the shiny looking place.
Joe P — Google review
After having this place recommended by two separate taxi drivers we decided to give it a try. A true locals place with legitimate great atmosphere we could not have been more pleased. We were delighted to see that it is a Michelin rated restaurant in 2024 but two months ago they received a new recommendation for 2025. The prices are super reasonable and the quality is excellent in both service and food..... Gents: Warning. The toilet (water closet) does not have a seat. Ladies: while we were there, being a naturally curious person I took time to check the ladies room and you are awarded a seat! I was with my wife and son's girlfriend who actually asked me to check the conditions. Both restrooms were actually very clean so no real worries. Oh, and gents. We have a urinal...adding ammunition to the "seat up or seatl down dilemma. We will be returning. No doubt about it. You owe it to yourself to give it a try. Also NOTE. There is more than one location in town.

My wife and I originally came to this location when we were visiting Mexico on our Honeymoon back in 2009. Let me tell you, the food is still as delicious as it was then, and the atmosphere was great! Service is great, and the prices are well below what you would think you might pay for the quality of the food. My wife and I ordered an appetizer, two meals, and two beers for under $30! Highly recommend El Fogon and this location!

We were hungry and tired from a day exploring and were surprised to see this place hopping at 10 on a Monday night. It's really a fun place with live music, but it was a bit loud and hot. No AC and not enough fans. The food was okay. Not as great as we expected given the crowds and cost. The service was slow. I'd go back if I was just with friends and looking for a lively place to dine.

The food is flavorful, and their sauces, the perfect pairing.

This literally is a hole in the wall but it’s really good! Food is prepared per order, everything made from fresh ingredients. Unbelievable value, last time we were here two years ago and prices haven’t changed! Really laid back type of place with reggae music playing overhead and a breeze from a fan going through your hair… I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a wholesome vegetarian meal for a great price

Amazing place for eating falafel as they make them freshly on the spot. Yes, the waiting times are longer, but for the fact of preparing everything freshly, it’s totally worth it. The falafel itself is crispy on the outside and tasty on the inside. In combination with their dishes, it’s a really perfect fit and definitely recommended to anyone who loves falafel. Since they have a very limited menu, it’s not possible to make a wrong choice. Definitely recommended if you’re around the area.

My husband and I came for the famous Sunday prime rib and WOW it was amazing! We've heard so many great reviews about Manne's and now I wish we had gone sooner! Not only was the prime rib cooked perfectly and served with a delicious jus, the manager Ricardo seemed genuinely invested in us having a good time and enjoying the food. My husband also really appreciated how much stock of Jager they had 😂 Absolutely would go again. We split the prime rib and it was definitely the right choice. Can't wait to go back!!

Amazing place!! I loved everything about Manne’s Birrgarten. The staff are extremely friendly and make you feel like you belong. The atmosphere is very “dive bar” like, and super chill! Lots of seating as well. When my family got there we noticed throughout the stay that there are a ton of regulars (that’s always a good sign) the staff treated them like family. The food!! No complaints here. You want authentic German cuisine, look no further! The schnitzel was giant and delicious, my partner got the chicken and I got pork so we could try both (I recommend the chicken) She also switched out the potatoes for the sparzel. Her dad for the prime rib and her mom and aunt got the half chicken. We all enjoyed our dinner and even had some leftovers. The prices were very reasonable! Definitely cheaper drinks than any other place we’ve been. After dinner with her family, we went back for some late night drinks with the younger family members and loved the friendly positive atmosphere. Plus, again, cheap drinks ! Staff are so fun and friendly. Anyways, the takeaway here is that this place deserves more than 5 stars. Do yourself a favour and check this place out! You won’t be disappointed.

Pretty good German food. I had the chili herbs sausage with German fried potatoes and sauerkraut. Note the place is more an open air dive bar feel so don't go expecting a nice restaurant. They do offer take out.
Viraj P — Google review
The German guys who founded the restaurant seem to have left it a long time ago. The beer was slightly chilled, but not cold enough. The Roast-Pork with Sauerkraut and German fried potatoes, which was supposed to be grilled, actually turned out to be an ordinary cheap stew (see on the picture). The soup was good. When we needed to get a check, the staff just seemed to forget about us. The waiter was inattentive, instead of dark beer he brought light, and when I asked for one more beer for me, he brought one beer to each. The table was wiped several times, but at the same time, clipped nails remained there anyway. Conclusion: avoid this place

Absolutely amazing! I've been there twice already, and everything is fresh and delicious. The quality justifies the reasonable prices. Gorgeous restaurant and amazing food! Ate here on my birthday while visiting Playa del Carmen and was so magical and delicious! My first day in Playa 3 years ago this was the first place I ate and loved it! Fast forward 3 years and my last day in Playa I ate here at the bar and loved it. The food here is authentic, very traditional Mexican food raised a couple of notches. I love the atmosphere, you can sit outside under a natural canopy or go towards the inside, btw, this place a lot bigger than it looks, seating goes way back. Service has always been great. Will I return? Absolutely. Its one of the best restaurants on 38th.

Amazing experience and delicious food! Staff was so kind and they have an entire vegan menu which has been hard for my girlfriend to find here (bonus: queer friendly!). Our waiter spoke very good English and had the best recommendations. We came back with friends a few days later for lunch and our taxi’s card reader wasn’t working. Excellent restaurant off 5th Avenue. Chill vibe, with Cenotes and stream in the garden...with a few fish and a racoon! The beef tenderloin was excellent, as was the accompanying chip & dips. The good was great, just as other reviews described. I had the fish dinner entree and it was smothered with caramelized onions and peppers, tomato and avocado. I highly recommend. Manny people rave about their tuna steak, but my wife and I didn't like that as much as the pescado estilo tikin xic (fish dish). The atmosphere was rustic and open, as of in the jungle. The live music from across the street was great but loud and drowned out what little music this restaurant had.

This restaurant is a true gem and a must-visit in Playa del Carmen. Located just an 8-minute walk from 5th Avenue, it offers a fantastic dining experience. The tartar de atún is simply outstanding—one of the best I’ve ever tried, with generous portions and exceptional flavor. The food overall is delicious, probably the best I’ve had in Playa. Beyond the food, the service is excellent—fast and efficient. The restaurant provides thoughtful touches like nachos and salad cookies to accompany your meal. It’s also family-friendly, with plenty of space and a dedicated play area for children, making it an excellent choice for all occasions. What truly stands out is the value. The prices are just perfect for the quality and quantity of food you receive, and they deserve more recognition for delivering such a premium experience at reasonable rates.

Get the whole snapper!!! Get the whole snapper!!! Ok now that that’s out of the way, everything I’ve had on the menu has been delicious. To be fair, I’ve only been three times while in PDC but still. It’s a great mix of traditional Mexican food at decent prices. When you go you may luck up on a karaoke, bingo, trivia, or live music and other events. It’s got great ambiance, outstanding food, and great service. It’s clean )floors and tables, and menus) and I love that the kitchen area is viewable from most seats. Each time I visited, I’ve felt welcomed and appreciated. Greeted with a warm smile and the patience while I attempt to communicate in my Spanglish. This is a fairly large space that would be great for a special event but also have spaces cozy just for two. It gives al fresco vibes. Nice lighting and walking distance to downtown playa. Did I say get the whole snapper!?!?

We went for trivia, which was the only trivia night we could find in Playa, but it started over 45 minutes after the advertised starting time and was paid, so we bailed. Decent food, a little on the pricey side but not bad.

We stumbled upon this place while on vacation in Playa. And I am so glad we did! We had the best lobster we've EVER had. I had the seafood spaghetti which was fantastic. The Margaritas were perfect, and our server was very attentive. We went at night and the restaurant was packed. There was live music and people were dancing and having a good time. We will patronize this establishment everytime we are in Playa.

Wife and I had dinner here twice including on our last night in town. Both times were very good. service was very good. A little off the beaten path but worth seeking out. Fresh fish served every night. We were referred here by someone that grew up in town and it was worth it

It's a fun spot for salsa dancing and good people. It's indoor/outdoor open air environment is great during this time. Very friendly people. Good drinks. Didn't try the food but it looked yummy with a generous portion. My only complaint would be how out of all the fans in that place, only 2 or 3 were on. It's a very hot environment when you're dancing so circulation would have been much desired. Overall, I would recommend for a good time.

El Curandero Mariscos & Grill is a new addition to Playa del Carmen, offering a cure for the aftermath of a night out with its Mexican-style seafood and slight gourmet twist. The restaurant provides a casual atmosphere with a full bar and also offers some meat dishes in addition to seafood. Despite initial hesitance from non-seafood lovers, the delicious food pleasantly surprised them, along with the amicable service and decent ambiance.
The Best Carajillo ever I taste , big plates, prices really good for quality. Guacamole is huge I really like this place . Waiters are very friendly .

I got a tostada de civiche y taco de macaxi (or something close to that) $230 pesos $13 dollars. (Not with the tip) The food was amazing. Don't forget to get the sauce. I think it was their spicy mayo but it was amazing on the civiche. It was fast!

Would originally rate this place with 5 starts until they brought the check and said it's cash only and the dollar is 17 pesos instead of 18 or 19 everywhere else. However the food was very good, the oysters we tried there were just spectacular, the place itself was very nice! Definitely recommend 👍🏻
Vasiliy T — Google review
Prices have gone up significantly since menu photo here so be aware! Still reasonable and food was delish. We did have to ask them to weigh the seafood we ordered (big plate to share) as it was quite obviously under portioned. They did add more and resolved the issue. Service generally good and enjoyed our meal.

Wonderful experience for a later lunch. Fresh seafood, clean & authentic restaurant with excellent staff. Everything we tried was perfectly seasoned! Maybe not as cheap as other restaurants but the quality in the seafood makes the difference!

I'm not a big fan of fish/seafood but trying to "stretch" my palette. I kind of walked in hesitantly but to my surprise the food was delicious. I literally ate everything and was thoroughly pleased. Waiter was amicable and friendly, and the ambience was decent. Some music in the background, not too loud, and spacious for a place, which I love. Not a fan of having to scream over my neighboring table to be heard. I did sit outside though, where the music is a bit less loud (therefore all felt pleasant to me). I would come again, no questions asked ✨

This place had an amazing variety of tacos and not all of it was deep fried! Our kids loved the popcorn chicken and fries. The waiter recommended the Chilaca. It was delicious and very filling! The patio in the back was closed so we sat in the front area. Our best seafood restaurant during our month stay in Playa!

The young waitress I had was very good and was very attentive to serving me. The oysters were fresh and were a good choice. The letdown was the fish fillet, octopus and shrimp combination. It was over cooked and lacked flavour definitely needs improvement. Would I try again absolutely.

HC de Monterrey Super Carnes is an incredibly underrated steakhouse that offers an exceptional Mexican-style dining experience. Don't hesitate to give it a try, even if the restaurant isn't bustling with customers. The steak is consistently fresh, expertly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. The accompaniments complement the beef superbly, creating a truly satisfying meal. In addition, their red wine selection is impressive and well-preserved, unlike many other establishments' house wines.
Absolutely delightful experience here!! The prices are wonderful, and the staff are so lovely. Obviously don’t compare this to the steakhouses down by the beach, but this place is a hidden gem in playa. Best steak you are going to find maybe anywhere under 20usd. They should absolutely be full all night.

This place is all about the meat—and it does not disappoint. The arrachera cut is a straight-up must. Half a kilo is perfect for two and seriously hits the spot. Service is top notch, super friendly, and fast. And the prices? Way too good for what you get. No frills, just flavor. If you’re in Playa and craving meat, don’t sleep on this place.

Very good place to eat for traditional Mexican food. The meat is perfectly cooked and delicious flavored. Staff is very friendly and working with a smile. For sure would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a real good diner. Price is good and reasonable. C-Grill is a casual beachfront restaurant located in the Thompson Playa del Carmen Beach House, offering traditional Mexican cuisine with a modern twist. Additionally, C-Grill at the Thompson Hyatt hotel provides a fine dining experience with contemporary Mexican food by award-winning chef Daniel Manzano Flores.
Love the atmosphere, and vibe of this restaurant. So relaxing and a beautiful ocean view. If you want a quiet, classy place to eat this place is definitely the one. A hidden gem. Would recommend the C-Grill Omelette, or Benedictinos, and the fruit berry bowl. Also really appreciated the staff and their effort to communicate in English.

Decent location on the beach. Slow service. Ordered pizza and some tacos. Pizza was almost inedible it was so bad. Breakfast was slightly better. Overall, there are loads of better places in Playa - if you want to eat on the beach, go to Sandbar next door. Exponentially better food.
Anya P — Google review
They have great seafood dishes for lunch and dinner which we found was good but not exceptional for the price. Location is fabulous. Can't be better. Service on the other hand was disappointing especially during breakfast time. Staff were not motivated to work, chatting away in a corner and came to our table after 10 minutes. There were 2 or 3 staff on hand yet they were not proactive or willing in serving or bringing out the food. Only one staff was working and took awhile to get the order done. If you are in a hurry, please be aware and allow more time. There were a few experienced staff who attended to us during the latter parts of the day/night there during our stay and they were helpful and friendly. So you need to try your luck on the day. Seems like no manager to monitor or direct staff all day and the level of service with the younger staff is definitely not the usual Hotel standard yet no one at hotel is doing anything to change it. Very disappointing to see as the hotel does well in other areas yet the service experience at restaurant pulls down the overall perception of the hotel.

Sat down for the "all you can eat" brunch, 500pso. 200 pesos to add unlimited national drinks, we did not indulge. They brought us 5 pancakes, 2 small bowls of fruit, and 2 yogurt. Then for the second course they brought 1cm slice of baked acorn squash and 3 puck tacos. Why do you bring 3 tiny tacos for 4 people? There was this delicious beet and grapefruit salad too, 5oz (for 4 people). We asked for more and they said we were not allowed to have more because we asked for another order of pancakes and fruit. How unsatisfying, and rude.

Quite pricey, but comfy spot to set up for the day. You can use the lounge chairs/cushions if you buy food/drinks with no minimum spend.
Angie H — Google review
Do Not Eat Here. Be prepared, they bill in USD and offer a ridiculously poor exchange rate. I appreciate their effort communicating in English, but shortly after being greeted, we were surprised to find that despite being visibly vacant the servers were not attentive, the only pleasant person we dealt with was the hostess. We asked for milk several times for coffee and the Benedictinos (Egg Benedict) is inedible, the sauce is rancid, and tasted like spoiled leftovers. Beware, when we complained their excuse was the “missing ingredients” were blended into the hollandaise sauce. I suggest eat else where, and enjoy the sun away from this pitiful excuse of a restaurant. Way over priced and Overrated.
Joe G — Google review
The food was good, service was not so good, they also were not discreet when I tried to pick up the tab for our table, everything we ate was pretty good except for their specialty omelette, It was extremely dry not what we expected, we loved the pancakes they were super fluffy, and the bacon was perfectly crispy. The view was amazing, we were literally on the beach which was exactly what we were in search of for our last breakfast in Playa. The prices were pretty good. It’s a place where you can also go swimming while you eat, you can use the beach and they have a pool right there. The bathrooms are super clean. For parking you have to find street parking or one of the near by garages, their is no valley parking or parking at the restaurant which is in a dead end street connected to the hotel. I would go again. Really good family vibe restaurant.

Nestled on the charming Calle 38, Tahini stands out as a delightful gem in Playa, where nature and trees thrive amidst the urban landscape. This Lebanese restaurant is renowned for its authentic cuisine, offering mouthwatering kebabs, fresh salads, and rich sauces that transport your taste buds straight to Lebanon. The menu caters to all palates with gluten-free options available, ensuring everyone can indulge in their flavorful dips and hearty dishes without worry.
Came here for a weeknight dinner and it was very nice, pleasant atmosphere, great service. We were a party of 3 and inquired about sitting inside in the A/C but were told that the tables are small and only accommodate 2 persons. So we sat at a large round 6 top table b/c it was closest to a large pedestal fan. It was nice out and not too humid. The food was delicious and everyone at the table was very happy with their meals. We’ll definitely be returning!
JP W — Google review
The best thing going for this restaurant is the beautiful location on 38th street in a lush jungle. But even that was ruined by the competing music from Tahini and 5’ away from their neighbor. The food was not good. We have eaten at many Mediterranean restaurants and know what it needs to taste like. Salad was the best item from what we ordered. The lamb chops were good, but came on a bed of cold mashed potatoes. Even the chops themselves were tiny for the most expensive dish on the menu. My Chicken Kebab with Arabic spices was tasteless. The sauce served with it tasted like straight mayonnaise. My wife ordered a White Iced Tea and didn’t like the flavor. When she told the waiter that she didn’t like the taste of it and wanted to order something else, he took her Iced Tea without even asking. We were under the impression that he is changing it for something else. But when the bill came both of her drinks were there.

Beautiful location with amazing food and attentive staff. Can’t get any better than that! I had the beef on a stick and a falafel in the pita. It was honesty one of the best meals I’ve had in playa.

Awesome mediterranean Lebanese restaurant - we had an amazing time here. The drinks were all very good (the kids had Lemonwater with mint and Limonada, adults had Tecate beer and Margarita Mezcal). We had Baba Ganoush and Batata Harra as appetizers - both were fingerlicking good 😋. For entre, we had falafel pocket sandwiches (the falafel was crispy and yummy) and Couscous tahini (couscous with beetroot hummus - it tasted pretty good). The icing on the cake was the dessert - a walnut pie with icecream. It was very different from anything I've eaten before and very tasty. Worth giving a try, especially as a vegetarian 👍🏼

This is the only Lebanese restaurant in playa which is a nice addition to have. The restaurant just recently opened, they have a very nice location on 38th. The service was very good they were very attentive and wanted to know how I enjoyed my food. They have a nice selection of dishes and the prices are extremely fair, but they do no offer a local discount. I had a fatouch salad which was good large enough to share if also ordering a main plate (there was missing the pita chips) but the salad was still tasty and I also tried their chicken shawarma which was very good and decent portion. They have some room for improvement but I do think they will do very well. Will definitely be back to come try other dishes. Welcome to playa

Birria de la 30 is a popular spot in Playa del Carmen known for its flavorful birria tacos and rich consomme. The small, unassuming restaurant offers a casual and authentic Mexican dining experience. Colorful menus drawn on wooden pallets greet you as you enter, followed by the enticing aroma of slow-cooked brisket. The juicy birria tacos are served with salsa, guacamole, onions, and cilantro, and are often enjoyed with a spoon.
I Love Birria Tacos and consume!! These guys know how to do it right. Their consume is rich, flavorful broth and really goes well with dipping quesa Birria Tacos. When you are in the PDC give them a try

1. The food is okay. I wonder why so many people it’s really that good but for me it’s just okay. 2.The salsa/ sauces are all exposed on the table. People are talking and sneezing so it’s so unhygienic that it doesn’t have any cover. 3. Servers don’t speak english. It’s hard to communicate and we need to use google app. 4. It’s too hot inside! It feels like you’re in the oven. The smoke from the grilling going in!

(JUNE 2025) Good tasting local Birria that we randomly found. Giving 4/5 stars because they didn't give us consome 🥹 Also, none of them we're able to communicate with us in English and our Spanish is very limited. CASH ONLY! I think they also accept USD cash. You'd have to ask. There's free street parking around the block. An OXXO right across, and a money exchange 2 blocks away if need be.

My favorite taco place in Playa del Carmen. I can’t honor it enough since they’re dishes are so simple, but complex at the same time. They fully serve only beef within their tacos, which I highly appreciate. Everything comes with a lot of different sauces and additions like pickled onions. Taste wise I can’t describe it and just encourage everyone to visit them yourself. Pricing is reasonable and even their homemade drinks are amazing.

Great eats, prime seats, and one lingering regret—we didn’t order more empanadas. The queso y cebolla was ridiculously good. Looking back, we should’ve taken a few to go, next time. If you're on the hunt for a true culinary gem in Playa del Carmen, look no further than H C Carnes de Monterrey. Nestled conveniently across from the Mega grocery store at 30th Avenue and Constituyentes, this spot is renowned for its mouthwatering steak offerings. The star of the show is undoubtedly their succulent arrachera, or flank steak, which is grilled to perfection and served alongside a baked potato and charred jalapeños that elevate each bite.
This is the place for steak! Succulent, juicy 1/2 kg of steak served with a baked potato, baked onion and charred jalapenos. Wrap all this up in a small tortilla and add the hot sauce. You will not be disappointed here. The guacamole and chips were great Friendly and welcoming staff, too! Well worth the money. Just off the tourist trail. Get to real Mexico food

Steak Very expensive !!😬 Be careful ordering the cowboy steak. It was surprising to get a “150 dollars” /2,400 peso bill. This price is even more expensive than in the United States! wasn’t bad but it’s way more expensive than anything on the menu. I could have ordered 7 ribeye steaks from them with a little left over for a drink for the same price. Regardless, taste was pretty good and server was attentive and friendly. Everything you see on the table was total 2700 pesos. I really don’t recommend it! We ended up ordering a cheesecake which looked moldy! Had black mold spots on it.

Las De Asada is a popular spot known for its well-seared, juicy, and authentic tacos. The place is a bit challenging to find and it's helpful to speak Spanish or bring someone who does when communicating with the staff. The prices are affordable and the margaritas are surprisingly good. While the al pastor pizza was well-garnished, some found the dough undercooked. However, the shrimp tostadas and cocktail were outstanding.

The food and service were good last year and at the beginning of this year. Over the last 5 or 6 months, it has become a strange atmosphere to eat there, so my family and I orde our food to go. The teenager named Chori (kind of sounds like Chorizo) that sits behind the computer doesn't speak loudly, and he has a difficult time communicating. He is the person who takes phone calls and takeout orders. Even though I pick up food orders about 2 times every 3 weeks, He seems the young man has reached a point in his time working there, where he asks people with local accents where they are from. Specifically , It's to find out if he can overcharge. The last 2 visits to pick up our dinner, I noticed that receipt, which was an order taken in person by Chori, and I compared it to the menu prices. Every item he charged extra money for. Of course, when I showed him the printed receipt, he was quite fast to say it's not his fault. He did give every excuse under the sun, including that his computer system has different pricing and even when as far as saying my Spanish is so horrible that he had no way of understanding what I was ordering (even though I am from north Mexico amd spanish was my first language and i also lived in the United States).. This business also does not charge IVA tax, which is illegal, and the person paying the bill can also get into legal trouble because technically, the person who is paying is the one that this avoiding payment of taxes. of this.. Lastly, if I pay my bill with a credit card and Chorizo, I mean Chori, will add between 2% and 4.5% credit card transaction fees. This is a violation of their agreements with each of credit card companies allowing the restaurant to use their method of payment, and the business agrees not to pass through the credit card transaction cost to the customer. I did want to include a picture of the beans. They literally have it thrown into a sandwich bag, and this is the first time they've done this. So I was so surprised that I had to show this as wel.

Great food and friendly service.

Tried it, it's 2 blocks from our condo, what's there to loose. Cheap prices.Had a Margarita not expecting much, it was actually very good in a big glass. Tacos were as good as the El Fogon, less spicy Al pastor, my hawaian Al pastor pizza was well garnished but the dough was undercooked, kinda roll in the mouth if the dough is not cooked well. We will go back for more tacos, not so sure about the pizza though, too bad because it was and looked delicious, got to work on getting it right. It's more quiet than El Fogon. .

Price its great, I tried the torta de asado, and the pizza. Great selection for the price

Great selection of tacos and traditional Maya cuisine, nice selection of drinks and lovely outside seating under the trees, but very poor service

Restaurant
Anafre cocina a la leña and vino is a relatively new addition to the dining scene in Playa Del Carmen. The restaurant offers a gourmet experience with dishes cooked traditionally on a wood-fired grill, known as an Anafre. The ambiance inside is beautiful and the service is top-notch. Some recommended dishes include the grilled ribeye steak, grilled octopus, and the grilled romaine salad. Visitors have praised the outstanding service and incredible food quality at this upscale oasis.
Definitely I love this place ! The atmosphere, the food and service were good ! 😌 what I liked the most , was the octopus with risotto I had ! My husband ordered the aguachiles and the taste was stunning 🤩 ! The shrimp was so fresh ! Oscar was our server ! He was awesome ! For dessert we had the plátano a la leña 🪵 which actually everything is cooked over wood , that’s why everything has a unique flavor!

Amazing location, out of sight, with excellent food, music and service (very caring). Everything was great apart from a few elements that are not critical in any way (eg music was too loud, Xmas dessert was too tough). We’d like to go back!
Andrea M — Google review
Lovely staff, charming decor, smell of wood burning stove is wonderful. Waiter Louis is attentive and kind, and bartender Eduardo made a festive passion fruit sparkling wine cocktail complete with sugar coated rose petal. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant.

We had the best date night here! Luis took care of us all night and helped us make the best food choices. The pork with mole glaze is amazing. My husband has the ribeye with aguaschiles sauce. If they have fresh Mussels from La Paz, get them!! What a treat. I didn't see any chocolate dessert on the menu, so he asked the kitchen to make a chocolate rice dish with ice cream. So unique and tasty! The wine menu is fab. The location is so convenient but you feel far away from the city. I can't believe we have lived here for 5 years and never visited before. The best!!

We had a fairly large party (around 35 attendees) for American Thanksgiving Day meal. The environment and staff were the talk of the afternoon. They have done a great job of enclosing the main dining area in glass (like a large greenhouse), surrounded by the trees, and this enables them to be much more efficient with the AC and fans, whilst still allowing the diners to observe the main kitchen preparation area and large wood-fired oven. Great atmosphere!

Oscar provided attentive service and made helpful recommendations. We had a medium ribeye and a medium rare ribeye, both of which were cooked perfectly. The chef even came out to ask if we wanted a hot skillet to warm up the steak halfway through the meal. The octopus with risotto was a deliciously large portion, and I took half of it home. We really wanted a good steak, and this place did not disappoint. We will definitely be back.

Highly recommend, great atmosphere, food and staff. After a short conversation, you can tell the owner loves what he does and shared with the staff. BTW, all the food is cooked over a wood fire.

Best restaurant in Playa, and maybe all of Mexico! Outstanding service, and the most incredible dishes. Prices are phenomenal for the quality and freshness of this food. The ring of a bell outside, and you are welcomed into an upscale oasis. We were blown away and so content! Emanuel was our waiter both times and treated us like royalty. Can't get service like that in the US.

This bar/restaurant was a great find. The food and drinks were delicious, and the service was great. The place is clean and modern inside, and there are tables available on the patio, too. The soup they gave before our dinner was outstanding, and the pastel de elote for dessert was wonderful!

Absolutely amazing. Was greeted with guac and a wonderful sauce and fresh chips when I sat, as well as an amazing soup. The food is amazing, I can’t recommend this place enough !

Great food, but it seems like they increased prices once per month recently, now it's at the level of restaurants like Harrys or Sonora Grill. A shame, I liked the food a lot, but I also appreciate not getting robbed while eating
