Points of Interest & Landmarks
Balancing Rock in Jabalpur is a stunning natural wonder where a large oval stone appears to be delicately balanced on another massive rock. This geological formation has defied the forces of nature, remaining intact despite storms, rain, and seasonal erosion. It even withstood a powerful 6.9 magnitude earthquake without being disturbed.
Balancing Rock is a miracle. I have never seen such a good thing in my life that a person is balancing very well on a rock and it looks very beautiful too. You can go here and spend a lot of time. You can enjoy yourself in many ways. You will not believe your eyes after seeing how a disease is sitting on a rock?
Lakshmi R — Google review
The Balancing Rock is a fascinating natural formation where a huge stone appears to balance effortlessly on the tip of another. It's an interesting geological curiosity and makes for a good photo stop. However, reaching the site is a bit challenging—the location isn't well-marked, and navigation can be confusing for first-time visitors. There's minimal signage, and the surrounding area is not very well maintained. While it's close to the Madan Mahal Fort, which adds some historical value to the visit, the site itself lacks proper infrastructure or tourist-friendly facilities. Best to visit if you're already in the area, especially as part of a combined trip with other attractions in Jabalpur like Marble Rocks, Dhuandhar Falls, and Bhedaghat.
Haresh M — Google review
Balancing Rock at Jabalpur is a wonder and is one of the must visit places on your trip to Jabalpur. It’s located near the Madan Mahal Fort which just up the road. Reaching the site in private vehicle is best advised. Reaching to the site is a bit difficult as the location isn't well-marked and signages are also less for first-time visitors. It’s a small site. The surrounding area is not very well maintained, and one can find litter inside the premise also. One is mesmerized by the sight of a huge rock standing still and balancing itself on another rock since a long time ago. Balancing Rock has withstood the ravages of time and has stood strong even during earthquakes. One can also visit the visit Rani Durgawati Fort (also known as Madan Mahal Fort) which is nearby.
Harsh S — Google review
Balancing Rock, Jabalpur What is it? The Balancing Rock in Jabalpur is a remarkable natural geological formation. One large boulder appears to precariously balance on a much smaller base rock — giving the impression that it defies gravity. Some key points: It is located near Madan Mahal Fort in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The rock has survived significant earthquakes (including one estimated at magnitude ~6.5) and erosion over many years. According to one source the contact area between the two rocks may be as little as six square inches. Location & How to Get There Address: 4WX3+9XF, Ratan Nagar, Madan Mahal, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh 482001, India. Nearest landmarks: It’s very close to Madan Mahal Fort, making it easy to combine in one outing. Getting there: From Jabalpur city centre you can reach via taxi, auto-rickshaw or your own vehicle. The site is open to public year-round. Some sources say open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Entry is free. When to Visit & Practical Tips Best time: The cooler months (October to February) are more comfortable for visiting. Light for photos: Early morning or late afternoon offers better lighting and fewer crowds. Footwear & terrain: The approach involves rocky terrain; wear comfortable shoes with good grip. Maintenance & signage: Note that while the spot is interesting, infrastructure and signage are somewhat limited. Some visitors note the surroundings could be better maintained. Why Visit? It’s a geological marvel — seeing a huge rock seemingly balancing on another is quite the visual treat. Great for photography — captures the interplay of nature, rock formations and an unusual scene. Easy to include as part of a broader Jabalpur sightseeing: since it’s near Madan Mahal Fort, you can combine both. What to Expect The visit may only take 10-20 minutes, as the actual spot is small. It’s more of a “stop-by” attraction rather than a full day outing (unless paired with other sites). There are some basic facilities/parking but don’t expect a full tourist complex.
Goutam G — Google review
It is also a must visit place during one's visit to Jabalpur and Bhedaghat. One can witness the diversity in science. It's simply the matter of gravitational force. But anyone may think deeply regarding the science behind it.
Suvendu S — Google review
It looks like art of god. Not a very big or crowded place. Would take much time. It's just road side. Average cleanliness, can improve this place further with more information board, development of better inside infrastructure, passages. Overall a place to go one time and get the picture clicked:).
Pawan S — Google review
The Balancing Rock of Jabalpur is a must-visit for curious travelers, nature lovers, photographers, and geology enthusiasts. It's a free and fascinating roadside marvel that combines simplicity with one of nature’s most curious formations. Though there are no guided explanations on-site, its natural allure and the surrounding region’s attractions make it well worth your time. The formation is believed to be an erosional remnant of volcanic rock. Despite tremors- including a magnitude 6.2 earthquake in Jabalpur in May 1997- it hasn’t shifted from its position . Scientists conclude the rock balances due to natural gravitational forces and erosion over millennia .
Anchal V — Google review
Balancing Rock is not that famous among tourists only enthusiastic tourists visit this place. Overall it's a good quick tourist spot which covers within 5 mins. Before going to Madan Mahal Fort. People came here for morning walk like activities.

Specialty Museums
Nestled in the heart of Jabalpur, the Rani Durgavati Museum is a captivating destination for history buffs and culture enthusiasts alike. This museum pays homage to the brave Gond queen, Rani Durgavati, who valiantly defended her kingdom against Mughal invaders. Visitors can immerse themselves in an extensive collection of artifacts, coins, paintings, and sculptures that span various historical periods. The exhibits not only celebrate her legendary exploits but also provide insights into her strategic brilliance during battles.
It was quite interesting that we hadn’t gone to the museum ever. It was ana amazing collection of sculptures from 9-11th century period when the Kalchuri dynasty ruled in this area. Mammi was bored a little. There was an entire section on life of Gond Tribe. Chausath yogini, uma maheshwar from madla, satna area. Jain tirthankaras, buddhist, ganesh, vishnu and shiva. There were a couple statues kept outside in the open, deteriorating. We thought how heritage isn’t quite something that present we value. With such a rich history, it saddens me to see such absence of care for precious sculptures.
Akash B — Google review
Good to visit to see sculptures of 11-12 th century in closer room. Need more description about sculptures for people to understand better. It seems less people are visiting the museum. Foreigners can visit as the sculptures are kept in rooms with fans without issue of sun exposure. Coin collection is also there

A magnificent collection of ancient sculptures can be seen here, Coins collections and Tribes history as well!! Ticket price : 20

It is a good place to visit for those who really like the museum and keen to learn about historical things and places. There are lots of idols mainly of the 10th and 11th century. There are old coins also which were used during different dynasties. I like this place very much and visit it as I get time. One must visit and specially students would get knowledge of our history from here.
Divyanshu G — Google review
It was very astonishing place to visit who loves to know about the historical sculptures & arts. Unfortunately I couldn't spend much time, hardly I could spend 10 minutes but it is really time taking who really wants to see the deep artistic culture of India. It takes minimum 30-40 minutes to visit properly.

Beautiful trail amidst the city. Went for an evening walk and the park is well maintained, easily accessible & very reasonable to visit. Tilwara Ghat, located in Jabalpur along the Narmada River, is a historically significant and popular attraction. Surrounded by numerous temples, it offers proximity to the stunning Marble Rocks and Dhuandhar Falls, adding to its charm. The ghat holds immense historical importance and is celebrated for its picturesque location. Additionally, it is home to the famous Tilabhandeshwar Mahadev temple.
Experiencing the river at night offers a unique perspective. The gentle rocking of the boat is incredibly soothing. Darkness amplifies the sounds of nature surrounding the river. The reflections of lights on the water create a magical atmosphere. It's a truly memorable way to appreciate the beauty of the river.

This is one of the most peaceful and best ghats in Jabalpur. You are mesmerized by the beauty and might of Narmada River. The ghats are less crowded and there is ample parking space here. You can also enjoy boating here. Daily Aarti at 7:30PM is not to be missed. There are small shops selling puja items. And you can enjoy boat rides here.
Harsh S — Google review
One of my favorite and very peaceful place to visit. It is less crowded as compared to Gwarighat. There is ample amount of parking space. You can also enjoy boating here. Must attend daily Aarti at 7:30PM. We visit this place every Saturday.

Nice place. We visited during monsoon and the river Narmada was getting flooded at a fast rate. The river bank (ghat) was totally submerged underwater. However, it wasn't extremely dangerous as no one was affected. The local shops were moved due to rising levels of river water. Places like riverbanks must be avoided during this season. Overall the place is hygienic and beautiful. Good spot to enjoy wit family.Bathing ghat for locals Looks nice as this place is an important bathing ghat for local people. They purify themselves here with the cold river water in the winter. The New and Old bridge are also a good contrast. People are still walking across the river using the old bridge. Interesting experience. Not very much of the attraction as it's not meant for the tourists. Still it's worth visiting if you are interested in the local daily life here.

I visited Sangram Sagar Lake yesterday and it was truly peaceful. The lake is quite big, and the cool breeze and calm surroundings make it a perfect spot to relax. What I loved most was the small waterfall that forms when the lake overflows it was beautiful to watch. There's also a temple right at the shore and a small fort visible on the other side of the lake, which gives the place a nice historical touch. Overall, it felt like a hidden gem away from the city noise.

Do not go from Danav Baba temple side. Go from Bajnamath Mandir side since there you would find a nice place to walk and sit. From Danav Baba temple side, which can be reached via Shakti Nagar, there is nothing apart from outskirt forest and a abandoned lane. This side is usually gathered by drunkards. Not a safe place to take family. Please take this into consideration. The lake is not so big as shown in maps. Just in rainy season the water level increases. Otherwise the water level is very low in other seasons.

This 15th-century Jain temple complex is rooted in a powerful legend, a humble woman known as Pisanhari (flour-miller) saved money by grinding flour and eventually built this pilgrimage site. Her statue and the original grinding stones remain above the entrance as symbols of her devotion. Spread over 18 acres, the site includes 13+ temples, featuring the monumental 55-foot Bahubali statue, the grand Nandishwar Dweep Jinalaya, a samavsarana structure, a mandapa hall, and a two-story garbhagriha. Positioned atop a 300-foot hill near Medical Garha, it offers sweeping views of Jabalpur, a cooling breeze, and a calming environment, perfect for reflection.

Bhawartal Garden in Jabalpur is a lovely and peaceful spot that combines greenery, history, and a touch of spirituality. The garden is spacious and well-kept, making it ideal for morning walks, family picnics, and even casual exercise like jogging or yoga. One can enjoy the floral beds, relax under shaded trees, or appreciate the lit-up fountain in the evenings. The highlight here is the famous “Osho Tree,” locally known as the Maulshree Tree. This is the very tree under which Acharya Rajneesh, later known as Osho, is said to have experienced spiritual awakening on 21 March 1953. The tree is preserved within the garden and draws followers of Osho as well as curious visitors who come seeking a moment of quiet reflection. Visitors appreciate the calm environment, often using the Osho Tree area for meditation or peaceful thinking. The combination of lush lawns, water bodies, and shaded benches gives the place a soothing atmosphere away from the city noise. Ideal for families, couples, fitness lovers, photographers, and spiritual seekers, Bhawartal offers something for everyone. The low entry fee (Only ₹10, with free access in early mornings) makes it affordable and accessible. Do keep in mind that weekends can get a bit crowded, so early or weekday visits are more peaceful.

It's a nice small water park. Entry fee is 450 for most except really young kids. We went on a Saturday and we were the first customers. The pool wasn't cleaned by then. Nevertheless they started the water system and slides. The wave pool is operational all the time. They announce before starting it and run it for only some time. The changing area had strong stench of phenyl and it could be improved a lot. Slides were fun and pool isn't too deep so kids will enjoy. The day we visited, restaurant wasn't open and canteen fire was also off. Despite all this, we enjoyed a lot and kids had a bunch of fun. However i was amazed to find a linga bhairavi yantra in the premises. If you go to this please don't forget to bow down to the yantr and recieve Devi's grace.

Awesome place to hangout with kith and kins. Perfect place for summer, nice canteen, there are four slides and three pools, and most important part is the wave pool awesome. The charge for the more than 3.5feet is ₹360 and for less than 3.5feet is ₹270 and less than 2.5feet ₹0, and gents costume is of ₹20, for ladies costume₹60 please visit once in summer.z😋😎
Shubham G — Google review
It was really a fun being there... Though the place is small with limited pool swings and adventures though u will have a pleasure experience being there. The water pool is full of sound and clear water, with proper inlets and outlets. Moreover only thing that i disliked is that price charge for enter, customes, cafeteria and lockers everythng is too much compared to the space and water swings drives....
Praveen V — Google review
You need to pay around 450 per person, the water park is decent, only 2 slides were working when we visited. The best part is it is less crowded, you can enjoy with your kids and family. Parking charge 10 RS 🤣🤣🤣🤣

A Hanuman temple established on 12 August 1903 by British officer Smith, who discovered a buried idol after repeated wall collapses at the Gun Carriage Factory – believed to be divine intervention by Lord Hanuman . Located atop a small green hill near Vidya Nagar, it’s surrounded by serene gardens, peacocks, and small temples of Shiv, Durga, Vishnu–Lakshmi alongside the main shrine . Popular for its spiritual aura and Tuesday evening aarti at 7:30 PM, devotees tie wish threads under a sacred banyan tree after prayers . Open daily (5:30 AM–2 PM, 4–9 PM). Best time to visit: October–March for pleasant weather .

Quite and tranquil location on a hill. Visit this hill if you want some peace and quiet away from the bustling city life and traffic sounds. There is plenty of space to wander among lovely gardens. Even better, if you enjoy cycling, it's a terrific spot to explore on a bike. terrain of medium difficulty with an upward slope of about 37 degrees. On top of the slope, there is an adequate cycle lock stand. Ample parking space on weekdays.

It's a good place to spend time. Lots of clean and open space to roam around temples. There is proper arrangement for drinking water, shoe racks etc. One unusual thing about this temple is that there is a library. Visitors are the ones to be blamed for all the chaos beginning right from the parking area which is the largest one can find anywhere in India and it's free. Even then two and four wheelers are parked randomly. Shoes are to be seen scattered around the place.

One of the oldest Hanuman Temple of Jabalpur...part of history of Gun Carriage Factory itself...locals have huge belief in the deity believed to fulfill all wishes...the temple complex is well developed with religious functions round the year...also has Durga & Shiva temples among several others...regular aarti is vibrant with chants & devotees in attendance...a calming environment...particularly bustling on Tuesdays

The atmosphere is good. There are so many options for food . Many known brand s are there. Food court is a little costly and food is okay . And the gaming zone is not much attractive. Below down on ground floor there are shops too and there us also a grocery store .
Saumya B — Google review
Parking & Safety Concerns: One serious drawback of Samdariya Era is the lack of organized parking. During my visit, cars were parked haphazardly, including in the middle of the access road, completely blocking the approach to the theater. This creates a major safety hazard — in case of a fire or any other emergency, there would be no way for fire tenders or ambulances to reach the premises on time. For a venue that hosts large crowds, this is a dangerous oversight that needs urgent attention from both management and local authorities.

A very small airport with two aero bridges and two luggage belts. The airport is well kept, neat and clean though the men's washroom needs better upkeep. Ample parking is available but reaching the town from the airport is difficult if one does not have personal transport. It is recommended to arrange transport before arrival.
Abhijit M — Google review
The airport is small and is located far from the city. Travelling from airport to Jabalpur city and back is a big problem and is a big task . Taxi mafia is rampant here and they will try to fleece your money at any cost. No Ola/ uber are available here at the airport. Only flights operated are by Indigo here. The check- in was easy as there is no crowd here. The airport has limited and basic facilities. There is no good cafeteria here.
Harsh S — Google review
Jabalpur airport is a bit far from the city and the facilities are limited. Limited flights fly from this airport. Passengers must ensure to pre-check the check-in luggage and safety lock tags to be done.. Hassle free security check, parking facility for vehicles, 20+ check-in counters.
Teja I — Google review
No ola/Uber available. You will have to go by private cabs or can book cab services from here. You can reach here with Ola/Uber, but they might ask for double fare to drop you. So just be prepared to pay more for cab if you don’t have any vehicle arrangements. The airport is well maintained, but don’t have digi yatra services and no food stalls as of August 2025.
Nandkishor T — Google review
Jabalpur Airport is a small and clean airport with limited facilities. There are only one or two food and shopping options available. It’s easy to navigate but quite basic. The only drawback is that it’s located far from the railway station, which makes travel a bit inconvenient.

Situated at the last corner of jabalpur, it's pretty, but they should start more flights from here Beautiful airport in terms of jabalpur 💖

Updated review: New airport is beautiful and has all amenities like any other big airport! Check out for updated pics as well. Old review: No extraordinarily gimmicky things- only thing it does - is to help you reach from source to destination with decent basic facilities. Helpful staff and breathing space as it’s mostly not too crowded like other airports in general. Also, you can’t get much to eat or drink here. A cutting tea is @160 for god knows what reasons. Another bad thing is you can’t get an ola or Uber from here but that’s not related to airport but the city infrastructure/ internal settlements of cab/auto guys. So beware of that.

Girish V — Google review
Rani Durgawati Fort, also called as Madan Mahal Fort, perched atop a rocky hill in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India, is a historic fortress offering panoramic views and a glimpse into the region’s medieval past. Built in the 11th century by the Gond rulers, it’s named after Rani Durgavati’s son, Madan Shah, and is known for its strategic location, rugged architecture, and relics like cannons and stables. A popular tourist spot near Jabalpur city, it combines history with scenic beauty, making it ideal for history enthusiasts and casual visitors. History Constructed around 1116 CE by Gond king Madan Shah, the fort served as a military stronghold for the Gond dynasty, which ruled Central India for centuries. It was a key residence for Rani Durgavati, a legendary warrior queen who resisted Mughal invasions in the 16th century. The fort’s elevated position at 500 meters provided defense against enemies. Though partially in ruins, it was restored by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in the 20th century, preserving structures like the war room and treasury. Its historical significance lies in showcasing Gond architecture and Rani Durgavati’s legacy. Location Madan Mahal Fort is located 7-10 km from Jabalpur city center, atop Madan Mahal Hill in the Gurudev Colony, near Ratan Nagar. It’s 5 km from Jabalpur Railway Station, 25 km from Dumna Airport, and 25-30 km from Bhedaghat’s Marble Rocks and Dhuandhar Waterfalls. Accessible via NH-30 or local roads, taxis (Rs. 200-400) or autos (Rs. 50-100) from Jabalpur reach the hill’s base, followed by a short climb of 100-150 steps. Bhopal is 300 km away. Facilities and Amenities Available Fort Complex: Features a war room, treasury, stables, cannons, and a small pond (baoli). ASI signboards explain history. Viewing Points: Hilltop offers 360-degree views of Jabalpur’s skyline and Narmada River valley. Parking: Free parking at the hill’s base (Rs. 20-50 during peak times). Food and Drink: No stalls on-site; carry water and snacks. Nearby Gurudev Colony (1 km) has eateries (Rs. 50-200). Restrooms: None available; nearest facilities are in Jabalpur city. Other: No Wi-Fi, cloakrooms, or guides. Local vendors may share anecdotes (donations of Rs. 20-50 appreciated). Benches provide rest atop the hill. Best Time to Visit November to March is ideal, with pleasant weather (15°C-30°C) easing the climb and enhancing views. Monsoons (July-September) make the hill lush but slippery, requiring caution on steps. Summers (April-June, up to 45°C) are hot—early mornings (6:00 AM-9:00 AM) are best to avoid heat. Winter festivals like Dussehra or Diwali add vibrancy to Jabalpur, complementing a fort visit. Timings Open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM, managed by the ASI. The fort is accessible throughout daylight hours, with no formal ticketing counter. Sunset visits (5:00 PM-6:00 PM) offer cooler temperatures and scenic lighting for photography. Entry Fees, If Any Entry: Free, as maintained by the ASI. Parking: Rs. 20-50 at the hill’s base, if charged. Photography: Free, with no restrictions. Cash may be needed for parking; no digital payments required.

Madan Mahal Fort (Rani Durgawati Fort), Jabalpur 📜 Historical Background Built by: Raja Madan Singh, son of Queen Rani Durgawati, around the 11th century CE. Location: A rocky hilltop in the city of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Association: The fort is closely linked with Rani Durgawati (1524–1564 CE), the valiant Gond queen who ruled the region and fought bravely against the Mughal army led by Asaf Khan under Emperor Akbar. Legacy: Rani Durgawati is celebrated as a symbol of courage, independence, and sacrifice in Indian history. She defended her kingdom of Gondwana (modern-day Jabalpur region) with exceptional bravery until her death in battle. 🏗️ Architecture and Features The fort is strategically built on a hill, offering panoramic views of the plains and the Narmada valley. Constructed using stone and lime, it is a fine example of medieval Gond architecture. Key features include: Watchtower and small chambers — possibly used for military purposes. Secret passages and stables — suggesting its dual use as a defense post and royal residence. Balconies and small windows — typical of Rajput-Gond fusion architecture. Rani’s room and watchpoint — from where she could oversee the areas. 🌄 Sightseeing Importance Panoramic views: The fort’s elevated location gives stunning vistas of Jabalpur city and surrounding landscapes, especially at sunrise or sunset. Historical feel: Visitors can explore the remnants of the fort walls, stairways, and chambers that evoke the valor of Rani Durgawati. Photography hotspot: Its rugged stone structure against the skyline makes it a popular photo point. Nearby attractions: The Balancing Rock, a natural wonder, is located at the base of the fort hill. 🕰️ Visitor Tips Timings: Generally open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Entry Fee: Free or nominal local charge. Best Time to Visit: October to March for pleasant weather. Duration: 45 minutes to 1 hour for a full exploration. The fort connects visitors to the legend of Rani Durgawati, one of India’s earliest women warriors who fought for her land and people, making it a must-see heritage site of Jabalpur.

Rani Durgavati is a very good place but it is still under construction. But the view of Jabalpur city from here will look very beautiful. You will see the whole city view. It is a little high up so you will have some difficulty climbing it. But when you leave it, you will be able to see its beauty and your heart will be very happy to see the whole city view. Its route goes through Balancing Rock which is further up and it is a very beautiful place and you can easily see the natural beauty there.

If u go behind the fort u might get some mountain view. In The fort nothing to explore, it is always locked and it is just 2 storied building height.

A very beautiful place especially for the peoples who love nature and want to see historical structures. Rani Durgawati made this fort to watch her enemies from the top of the hills and you can see all the area of jabalpur from here. The ancient touch of the fort, well and horse stable is really good. You have to go upstairs and it is near about 15 minutes walk.

The fort is known for its natural beauty and peaceful surroundings, making it an excellent place for those who want to enjoy a quiet visit while learning about the history of the Gond kings. Madan Mahal Fort in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, stands as testimony to the lives of the rulers who ruled Jabalpur for a good number of years in the 11th century AD. It is situated at a hilltop, a couple of kilometres away from the city, Madan Mahal Fort was built by the Raja Madan Singh. The entry is totally free for both children and adults. But the old people might be facing quite difficulty in reaching the fort because the fort is situated at a hight and it has a huge and long stairs to climb and reach the fort. But one switch it's totally worth it. Someone interested in history will love it. People who loves natural views will also love to due to its magnificent look of the city from the top.

Raja Madan Singh built this fort in the 11th century to serve as a military outpost and administrative center. Perched atop a rocky hill at an elevation of around 500 meters, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of Jabalpur city and its surroundings. The fort's strategic location highlights its importance in monitoring enemy movements and defending the region during its time. The architecture of Madan Mahal Fort blends Mughal and Rajput influences, constructed with local granite that harmonizes with the natural rock formations. Though modest in size compared to other Indian forts, it features intriguing elements such as underground tunnels used for emergency escapes, stables, war rooms, and a small reservoir. Visitors can explore its maze-like corridors and admire intricate carvings that showcase the craftsmanship of the Gond artisans. This fort is closely associated with Rani Durgavati, a valiant Gond queen known for her resistance against Mughal invasions. Her legacy adds a layer of historical significance to the site. Today, the Archaeological Survey of India maintains the fort as a heritage site. While parts of it are in ruins, but it remains as a popular destination for history enthusiasts and tourists seeking to delve into the rich past of Jabalpur. The serene surroundings and historical aura make Madan Mahal Fort an essential stop for anyone visiting Madhya Pradesh.

A fantastic monument, but ASI has to work more effectively!! The location is very close to the city even though no tourist road signage available by the authority. The monument is in excellent condition , but the premise needed more care. Lack of hand rails made it a tough climbing experience for elderly visitors. Even the premise of "Balancing Rock" a the bottom of the hill maintained very poorly!
Siji N — Google review
Not quite a great place, most of the fort is in ruins but, liked the nearby temple-shivling beneath two big rocks, painted blue, and the pond covered with red phytoplankton/algae . It's very close to Balancing Rock, and requires a climb of around 230 steps. From the top, you can see the Jabalpur city whole panorama.

Madan Mahal Fort, built in the 11th century by Raja Madan Singh of the Gond dynasty, is a historic fort located on a hilltop in Jabalpur. Unlike grand palaces, this fort served as a military outpost and was used for defense purposes. Though much of it is in ruins today, visitors can still explore ancient corridors, watchtowers, small chambers, and secret passages that reflect the fort’s strategic importance. The architecture is simple yet strong, with large stone walls built on massive rock formations. One of the most intriguing nearby attractions is the Balancing Rock, a natural wonder where a huge rock rests on another with perfect balance. From the top of Madan Mahal Fort, Jabalpur city looks absolutely stunning. The elevated location provides a panoramic view of the entire city, showing a mix of urban structures, greenery, and water bodies. On a clear day, you can see the Narmada River flowing gracefully through the city, along with clusters of houses, roads, and markets blending into the landscape. The sunrise and sunset views from here are particularly breathtaking, as the golden light gives the city a beautiful glow. The combination of historical ruins and scenic beauty makes this fort a great place for photography and sightseeing. Madan Mahal Fort is located about 6 km from Jabalpur Railway Station and can be reached by auto-rickshaw, taxi, or private vehicle. The short trek up the hill is worth it for the stunning views and historical charm, making it a must-visit spot in Jabalpur

Waterfall
Nature & Parks
Dhuandhar Waterfall, situated in the Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh, is the largest waterfall in India. It is located on the Narmada River in Bhedaghat and drops 30 meters amidst the renowned Marble Rocks. The name 'Dhuandhar' originates from Hindi words meaning a waterfall where a smoky atmosphere can be felt due to the cascading water vapor.
Dhuandhar Falls, nestled in Bhedaghat near Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, is a mesmerizing natural wonder that lives up to its name—‘Dhuan’ meaning smoke and ‘Dhar’ meaning flow. The Narmada River narrows and plunges from a height of about 30 meters, creating a powerful cascade that generates a misty spray, giving the illusion of smoke rising from the waters . 🌊 My Experience Visiting Dhuandhar Falls was an awe-inspiring experience. The thunderous roar of the water could be heard from a distance, building anticipation as I approached. Upon arrival, the sight of the white waters crashing down amidst the marble rocks was breathtaking. The mist created by the falls enveloped the area, offering a refreshing respite from the heat and a surreal atmosphere that felt almost otherworldly. 🚡 Activities & Attractions • Cable Car Ride: One of the highlights was the cable car ride across the Narmada River. It provided a bird’s-eye view of the falls and the surrounding marble cliffs, offering a unique perspective and fantastic photo opportunities . • Boating through Marble Rocks: A boat ride through the Marble Rocks gorge was equally enchanting. The river meanders between towering cliffs of white and pink marble, which shimmer under sunlight, creating a magical ambiance . • Local Handicrafts: The area around the falls is dotted with stalls selling exquisite marble artifacts and souvenirs. It’s a great place to pick up unique mementos crafted by local artisans . 🗓️ Best Time to Visit The ideal time to visit Dhuandhar Falls is between October and March, when the weather is pleasant, and the water levels are optimal for both viewing the falls and enjoying boat rides. During the Sharad Purnima festival, the falls are illuminated by moonlight, casting a silvery glow on the marble rocks—a truly magical sight . 🚗 Getting There • By Air: The nearest airport is Jabalpur Airport, approximately 25 km from Bhedaghat. • By Train: Jabalpur Railway Station is well-connected to major cities and is about 20 km from the falls. • By Road: Regular buses and taxis are available from Jabalpur to Bhedaghat, making it easily accessible . 🏨 Nearby Attractions • Marble Rocks: An 8 km stretch of the Narmada River flanked by towering marble cliffs. • Chausath Yogini Temple: An ancient temple dedicated to 64 yoginis, offering panoramic views of the surroundings. • Madan Mahal Fort: A historic fort offering insights into the region’s rich history . Dhuandhar Falls is a must-visit destination for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking a tranquil yet exhilarating experience. The combination of natural beauty, cultural significance, and adventure activities makes it a standout attraction in Madhya Pradesh.

Bhedaghat near Jabalpur is truly nature’s masterpiece the towering Marble Rocks on both sides of the Narmada River look breathtaking, especially during sunrise, sunset, or full moon nights. The Dhuandhar Falls add to the charm with their thunderous roar and misty spray. A boat ride here is the highlight rowboats glide quietly through the marble gorge, giving you time to soak in the beauty and hear local guides’ stories. The place is well-connected, just 30–40 mins from Jabalpur by taxi or bus.

Checked out Dhuandhar Waterfall in Jabalpur, and honestly, it’s one of those places that hits you with nature’s raw power. The roar of the water and the mist floating in the air make it feel like the whole place is alive. You’ll probably end up drenched and grinning — totally worth it. The view from the marble rocks is killer, especially if you catch the sunset. It can get a little crowded and could use some upkeep, but once you see that waterfall in full flow, you stop caring about everything else. Pure Jabalpur magic.

Due to the incessant rains the water level has increased and you can't see the waterfalls properly. But still you should visit this place. Its majestic.

Mesmerizing place. Try to come on weekdays or morning for better view. Negotiate with shopkeepers if buying something. No need to take a guide. Way has slopes and stairs, but manageable. Bring a bottle from home if you want to fill Narmada water.
Bhumish G — Google review
We had been to this water fall during our return journey towards Pune from Maha Kumbh mela. One of our friend knows about this location, so he suggested to take halt at Jabalpur in the night and then we visited this waterfall next day morning. The Dhuandhar falls is located on the Narmada River at Bhedaghat at 30 meters high and 30km away from the city. The Narmada River, making its way through the Marble rocks narrows down and then plunges into a waterfall. Viewing platforms have been constructed along the side to facilitate proper views. Interesting Facts about this waterfall: 1.The name of this waterfall is derived from two Hindi words "Dhuan" and "Dhar". Dhuan means smoke, the mist created by water falling on hard rock creates visuals of smoke emanating from the river bed and hence it is called Dhuandhar or Smoke Cascade. Dhar means falling down, the white water pummels down to form a gorge known as the Marble Rocks. 2. Beauty of this Water fall is the plunge, which creates a bouncing mass of mist, is so powerful that its roar can be heard from a far distance. another good thing is that we can see the beauty of water over Cable car which connected from East bank to West Bank of the Narmada River. Rope Car crosses the river and then drops tourists off at the west bank of the river. 3. Visitors can take boat ride on the river to visit nearby marble rocks. These rocks are a unique geological formation with a series of marble cliffs rising from the river. This waterfall is often referred to as the Niagara Falls of India because of the speed with which the water falls down. 4. This tourist site is most crowded during the Narmada Mahotsav where people from across the country visit the Jabalpur district to celebrate the festival grandly beside the Dhuandhar, under the full moonlight.
Surya K — Google review
A must-visit waterfall in Jabalpur. The water falls down with so much force that it creates a mist like smoke (hence the name 'Dhuandhar'). The area is well-maintained with proper fencing. There’s no trek involved here — you can directly walk from the parking area to the viewpoint in about 3 minutes. Parking is available at ₹20 for two-wheelers. No entry ticket needed. Ropeway facility is available here for ₹100 per person one way. Visit during monsoon or right after for the best water flow. Avoid weekends if you don’t like crowds.

Marble Rocks is an 8-km gorge along the Narmada River in Jabalpur district, Madhya Pradesh. The cliffs are made of white, brown, and blue marble, creating a stunning natural wonder. Visitors can take boat rides along the river to witness the breathtaking scenery, especially during sunrise and sunset when the rocks display a variety of colors. This popular tourist destination offers a tranquil and beautiful experience that everyone should enjoy.
Marble Rocks, Bhedaghat (also spelled Bedaghat or Vaidaghat) — is one of the most spectacular natural wonders of Madhya Pradesh, located about 25 km from Jabalpur. Here’s a detailed overview: 🏞️ Overview: The Marble Rocks are towering cliffs of white marble (some reaching up to 100 feet high) that flank the Narmada River as it flows through a deep gorge. Over centuries, the river has carved this stunning canyon, creating a surreal landscape where the sunlight reflects beautifully off the marble, giving it shades of white, blue, and even pink at different times of day. 🚤 Major Attraction – Boat Ride in the Gorge: A boat ride on the Narmada River between the marble cliffs is the highlight of a visit. The moonlight boat ride is especially famous — the marble gleams under the moon, creating a magical glow. Boatmen often narrate folklore and humorous stories about the rock formations during the ride. 🕉️ Religious & Cultural Importance: The Narmada River flowing through the gorge is considered sacred. The site has inspired many artists, poets, and filmmakers — even scenes from movies like Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai were filmed here. 💎 Nearby Attractions: Dhuandhar Waterfall (3 km): The Narmada plunges dramatically into the gorge, creating mist that looks like smoke — hence the name “Dhuandhar” (meaning ‘smoke cascade’). Chaunsath Yogini Temple: An ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Durga, situated on a hilltop near Bhedaghat with panoramic views of the Narmada gorge. Soapstone & Marble Handicraft Market: Local artisans sell exquisite marble carvings and souvenirs. 📍 How to Reach: Nearest city: Jabalpur (25 km; 30–40 minutes by road). Well connected by road, rail, and air. 🕰️ Best Time to Visit: October to March – pleasant weather, ideal for sightseeing and boat rides. Avoid monsoon (July–September) as the river level rises and boat rides are usually suspended. 🌕 Don’t Miss: Evening or moonlit boat ride Dhuandhar Waterfall at sunset Ropeway ride across the Narmada near Dhuandhar

Wonderful experience to behold the marble rocks of all hues and colours. However the boating experience needs attention by the authorities so far as the passenger safety is concerned.

I heard about this in my childhood textbook. In textbook, author describe about their experience on Full Moon night. This time we visited at broad Daylight, but it is marvelous to observe around 100 feet high marble rockline while boating through Mata Narmada River from Bhedaghat at Jabalpur. I will visit again to experience it on Full Moon Night.

Boating is amazing. They will ask you to pay more for going far once you reach the Bhoolbhulaiya point. If you want you can try, it has better rocks. Or else till Bhoolbhulaiya point also it is good. Many movie shootings have happened here. Try to take the motor boat as they can take you much deeper.
Bhumish G — Google review
The Marble Rocks at Bhedaghat are stunning tall white cliffs rising on both sides of the Narmada, best seen on a peaceful rowboat ride. Sunset or full-moon boat rides are magical, and Dhuandhar Falls nearby make the trip complete.

This waterfall is so beautiful that it is the best waterfall of India and it is a marble waterfall. The Narmada river is flowing through this waterfall and this Narmada river itself is one of the most beautiful rivers of this country and when you come to this waterfall, it will seem that the Niagara falls will make a sound exactly like it. Its chitons will come on you from far away and it will seem that you are in heaven. You are not going to feel better than this anywhere else, so definitely come to this place. Sit here and enjoy this place and eat good food. There are many photo sessions here because this waterfall is very close. It will be. You can touch it now if you feel like it or click a lot of photos.

The temple's intricate architecture and spiritual ambiance make it a captivating historical gem that dates back over a millennium. The 64 yogini sculptures offer a unique glimpse into India's rich cultural and religious heritage. According to local priests, the temple has an interesting legend behind it involving Goddess Durga and 64 demi-goddesses.
The Chausath Yogini Temple is a peaceful and spiritually enriching place, perfect for those interested in history, architecture, and divine energy. Located on a hilltop, the temple offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding landscape, making the short climb up the steps totally worth it. What makes this temple unique is its circular structure and the presence of 64 small shrines dedicated to the Yoginis, surrounding the central shrine. I had the privilege of visiting the Chausath Yogini Temple in Jabalpur, and it was a truly enriching experience. The temple, dedicated to 64 Yoginis (female deities), is perched on a hilltop, offering not only a spiritually uplifting atmosphere but also breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The architecture is unique and captivating, with a circular layout and beautifully carved stone idols. It’s a peaceful and serene place, perfect for anyone looking to connect with history, culture, and spirituality. The climb to the temple is a bit challenging but absolutely worth it, as the views from the top are absolutely stunning. The temple has an ancient vibe, with a sense of tranquility that makes it ideal for meditation or simply enjoying the serenity. The locals are friendly and welcoming, and the temple itself is well-maintained. One of the most striking aspects of the temple is its historical significance and the sense of mysticism that surrounds it. If you're visiting Jabalpur, the Chausath Yogini Temple is a must-see — a perfect blend of culture, history, and natural beauty.

This temple is among one of the best things about Jabalpur. A flight. Of cobbled stone stairs takes you up to the ancient temple. The views of the surrounding area and Maa Narmada from the temple, are awesome. There is peace and tranquility, and if you have time then this place is ideal for meditation and quiet contemplation. I visited the temple thrice in a span of 24 hours and it was an amazing experience.

It is an ancient temple just around half kilometres away from the famous Dhuandhar waterfall in Bhedaghatt near Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The place is too calm and one can enjoy the scenic beauty of sunset at it's fullest. One have to go through around 200 stairs.

This is the temple that inspired the design of the old Parliament building constructed by the British. It is a rock structure with elegant carvings and beautiful sculptures. Very nice experience. It is a must visit place whenever one comes to Jabalpur. It is on the way to Bhedaghat. A tip to visitors: it gets really hot so do carry a water bottle. Also, stairs are quite steep so take adequate breaks in between or else you could faint due to tiredness.
Shubham N — Google review
The temple is in Jabalpur, MP. You will have to reach there croossing 100 stairs from the road just besides the famous Narmada river. The main deity is in the centre surrounded by 64 temples of Joginis.

To tell you the truth, this temple is a very beautiful temple. This temple has its own unique thing. To visit this temple, you will have to go to Bedaghat. From there, you will find this temple at a walking distance and a local bus runs from this temple. Which will take you to the city, so you will not face any problem in transportation. You must visit this temple wherever you go. To reach this temple, you will have to climb many stairs. But after going up, you will get a beautiful view. You will feel that all your climbing up was worth it and after going to this temple, you will feel very relaxed and good. When I went inside this temple, pictures were not allowed.
