Tatra National Park in Poland is a vast mountainous area offering lakes, caves, and diverse wildlife. It spans 215 km between Poland and Slovakia, featuring attractions like Lake Morskie Oko, Gubalowka Mountain, and Kasprowy Peak. The park boasts waterfalls, valleys, and skiing opportunities. Nestled within the High Tatras mountain range in Lesser Poland Voivodeship, it includes peaks such as Rysy at 2,499 meters.
It is a stunning destination for nature lovers and hikers. the park offers breathtaking views and well-maintained trails for all skill levels. It’s a peaceful retreat with opportunities for wildlife spotting. Its a memorable outdoor experience.
Saif R — Google review
Agree with other reviews, that place is truly beautiful and accessible, even though it's around 8km one way to Morske Oko. However, parking is expensive and toilets are not free( except honey buckets) , so make sure to bring some cash. It was a little bit chilly at the top( at the beginning of May), bring some warm clothes with you and grab some snacks.
Iryna — Google review
Mountains have breathtaking views. Cable car was a less than 15 minutes to the top. Definitely worth the time and hike. Dress accordingly and wear proper shoes. Highly recommend visiting on a clear sunny day. Note: they charge for bathrooms, however the bathrooms near the ticket booths are free of charge.

A breathtaking experience! Tatra National Park is a paradise for nature lovers and hikers. The mountains, forests, and streams create stunning scenery at every turn. Trails are well-marked and range from easy walks to challenging hikes, so there's something for everyone.

LaVon — Google review
I recently visited Morskie Oko. It is definitely breathtaking. However, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THE HORSE CARRIAGES! The horses are treated poorly and looked very overworked, pulling asses of 10-15 people up and down the hill. It really ruined my hike seeing horses being mistreated in such a cruel way and sent up and down the hill while it’s so hot outside. I saw horses with tongues hanging out of their mouths while carrying the carriage, really horrible. While I saw that they were fed I did not see that they had any water given in this heat. Honestly, it’s 2025, if you want to see the mountains , you need to be prepared to hike for the views. I also saw vehicles for disabled people. So there is no excuse to this cruelty. Last year, a horse collapsed right there while carrying people up the hill. Many have died after few months of being in this service or sent to slaughterhouses. They don’t have a long lifespan due to them being constantly overworked and mistreated. Please do not promote such a horrible treatment towards animals, who definitely deserve better than this.

There is only McDonald's as a fast food restaurant. Youust try the ice-cream many shops with many flavors. Prices are reasonable, and the kids love the gifts of shops. You must visit this street. The Tatra Museum, located in Zakopane, is a charming 19th-century cultural institution that offers a wealth of knowledge about the Tatra Mountains and Podhale region. With 11 branches, it provides an immersive experience into the artistic creation and cultural heritage of the area. Visitors can explore ethnological information, art, natural history exhibits, and traditional highlander cottages showcasing everyday utensils and handicrafts.
I highly recommend to visit this museum in the beginning of your trip to Zakopane! It's the perfect introduction to Tatra region culture and wildlife. We really enjoyed the whole experience and learned a lot. Staff was very friendly and helpful :)
Aleksandra S — Google review
As I read from another comment, I strongly recommend to visit the Tatra Museum before you do anything else in Zakopane. A brief overview of the lives and the history of Podhale region. Get an idea of why this place is so much different from other places in Poland.
Pingyuan C — Google review
This museum turned out to be a real gem — much more interesting than we expected. It is one of the oldest regional museums in Poland, founded in 1888 to showcase the culture and art of the Podhale region. The exhibitions are spread over several floors: the ground floor features a historical and ethnographic section, the first floor is dedicated to natural history, the second floor hosts temporary exhibitions, and the third is reserved for staff. The displays are rich and thoughtfully arranged, with many interactive elements that bring the experience to life. One of the highlights is the reconstruction of a traditional highlander house interior — visitors can listen (in Polish or English) to stories about the layout, furnishings, customs, and everyday life in the “white” and “black” rooms. The narration, accompanied by traditional music, helps vividly imagine what life was really like in such a home. The natural history section is equally engaging, offering insight into the geology, flora, and fauna of the Tatra Mountains. While we’re usually not fans of stuffed animals, the taxidermy here is of high quality and gives a close-up look at the region’s wildlife — including bears, wolves, lynx, and birds of prey. Overall, this is a very well-curated museum and definitely worth a visit, whether you're interested in regional culture or simply looking for a deeper understanding of the Tatra region.
Anna K — Google review
We decided to visit it to understand a bit about the Tatra mountains. It was a pleasant surprise. 1. They have cloak rooms, and lockers that helped us to store our rainwear. 2. The audio guides(purchased separately/not included in ticket) helped us immensely. 3. 99% artifacts had English translation. 4. They have arranged the artifacts on two floors. First floor showcases history of Zakopane, the second floor showcases Tatra mountains. 5. The staff was polite and efficient. While we liked the Zakopane history section, we loved the Tatra exhibition. The stones are arranged in chronological order and gives a glimpse of how the geology evolved. The two videos on large screens are helpful in case you don't have audio guides. The best part was juxtaposition of animals(exhibits) and leaves in ascending order of altitude. Geology enthusiasts can spend an entire day here, while noobs like me can easily invest 3h.
Omkar J — Google review
Bit boring like a museum should be, but informative. Up stairs is a nice little coffee place.

Fantastic experience, especially if you stay in the hotel adjoining the Aqua park

We has daily free access included in our accommodation. It was great! Clean, not too crowded, even earlier when families were there. The 2 big slides were amazing, there was ample room in the bubbles outdoors and indoors. The locker system is genius and very easy to use. The views of the mountains are beautiful. Very easy to spend 2 hours here unwinding. The staff were very patient and friendly, despite our terrible Polish!

Very nice aquapark. In the city so quite small. Not a lot of seating inside.

A great way to spend a cold afternoon with our two teenage boys while visiting Zakopane. The outdoor pools we very clean and really warm and nice to relax in and look at the mountains. Good value for a couple of hours and yiu can hire towels too. The slides were good fun for the boys.

The Aqua Park ticket price Happy Hour is very correct coz more than 3h when you don't have childrens you cannot stay coz very boring. The pools inside still cold and outside is just perfect 🥰 The sauna areea is really not intersting , and the smell is not confortable. The parking capacitty is very small, and you need to pay 1zloty for each .
Magda M — Google review
Small space with a lot of activities. Issue is with depth of pools (130cm deap), and only one place for babies. Probably would address issue with packing. Not enough space. In general our family of 4 was happy with unlimited time entry for 68eur
Adomas R — Google review
Very nice and clean aquapark witk many possibilities how to spend the relax time. Something for kids and also for adults like saunas or outside pool with termal water. During our visiting the termy was full but not so extremely. But the stuff mainly in bistro was not so ready for such many people. The same was with the number of sun beds. It's dimensioned for few persons. And this is why "only" four stars. The termy is not ready for more people.
Pavel V — Google review
the park itself is nice, clean water, a lot if different pools to choose from, slides are fun too. But the food is regular market food just heated up in a microwave and the saunas open at 14 and are 18+ which kinda ruined the mood

Dolina Strążyska is a picturesque mountain valley in Zakopane, offering a short hiking path through beech forests and along a rocky stream. The 3 km long valley is popular for its well-known hiking trails, including the route to the Siklawica waterfall. It's an ideal destination for families and adventurers alike, with easy paths suitable for small children and more challenging terrain for those seeking adventure. While visiting in winter can make the walk quite challenging, it offers a unique experience.
Easy walk with good services dotted throughout. Beautiful views.

A beautiful trail along a mountain river. You have to climb quite a bit of rocks to get to the waterfall. If you are planning a trip with a stroller, you will only be able to cover half of the trail with it.

Wonderful easy hike for families and something more for adventurers :) There is usually a small place close to the waterfall, where you can buy warm tea/coffee and something small to eat. It's pricey but for a place without electricity 🔌 fully understable. It's worth to see.

Dolina Białego is a picturesque valley in the Tatra Mountains, offering gentle hiking trails through forests, waterfalls, and streams with stunning views of Zakopane. The trail starts at the entrance to Strazyska Valley and leads to Dolina Bialego Potoku, known for its beauty. Hikers can take the relatively easy yellow trail uphill towards Sarnia Skala. The route can be slippery and challenging but rewards with breathtaking scenery.
Gorgeous in the winter. Having crampons would be advised.
Derek T — Google review
The Białego Valley (Dolina Białego) in Zakopane is one of my favorite spots in the Tatra Mountains, and I’ve been there many times. It’s a peaceful, scenic trail that runs alongside a clear mountain stream, creating a soothing, relaxing atmosphere throughout the entire walk. The sound of the rushing water is your constant companion, and it adds a calming background to the beautiful surroundings. Although it’s a relatively short and pleasant route, it’s not suitable for strollers—even lightweight or sporty ones. The path is narrow, with uneven rocky sections and wooden footbridges, which makes it impossible to push a pram. If you're visiting with a baby, like I did recently, you’ll definitely need a baby carrier. I used one on this trip, and it made the whole experience enjoyable and manageable. Despite the trail’s limitations in terms of accessibility, it remains one of the most charming valleys around Zakopane. It's never too crowded, and the feeling of walking close to nature, following the stream through the forested gorge, is truly special.
Paweł — Google review
Big park! Some areas can not be purchased on behalf of others, but some can.
Anna — Google review
Nice hike near the stream. Not hard but walking uphill. Not fits to strollers with small wheels
Sharon G — Google review
Gorgeous hiking trail to walk through, full of valleys, waterfalls, bridges and a river which you walk right next to. The trail leads right up to the mountain top, where you can sit on the benches and rest, while you look around.
Riplis M — Google review
The park is beautiful and the waterfall at the end is breathtaking. The views are outstanding. Well worth the park fee which is peanuts but but helps keep these locations thriving!
Harveer C — Google review
Perfect outdoor activity. Even with average weather, the views are amazing. Ensure you are equipped with good shoes as the path and landscape changes from plain to rocky to steep quite often. Even if you GPS tells you it's a quick stroll, plan a day as you might be too tired to do anything afterwards (else than eating). Start from Dolina Białego go to Sarna Skała then back to Zakopane through Dolina Strążyska... Unforgettable experience. Ensure your cameras and spare batteries are fully charged too :)

If you're on the lookout for a quirky and entertaining experience, "Dom do góry nogami" in Zakopane is a must-visit! This unique upside-down house offers visitors an optical illusion that plays with your senses and challenges your perception of gravity. Perfect for those seeking a lighthearted break from mountain hikes, this compact two-level structure has been captivating tourists since its opening in 2007. Expect to feel a delightful sense of disorientation as you navigate through its creatively designed interiors.
One of the Zakopane’s attraction and it’s in the city centre, easily accessible by walking. It’s a tiny house, so better to wait if recess any group already. Don't forget to plan a visit to this upside down world literally in the city centre. Poland has a few of them and they're super funny. Although walking with snow and ice mess inside was trouble but that's not on them. The ticket price was about 30pln which hasn't been updated online. Myszogród Zakopane is a unique attraction featuring live mice living in miniature houses, villages, and even a ski resort. Visitors can witness the mice riding trains, flying in UFOs, and residing in fully equipped treehouses or traditional highland cottages. The underground setting showcases various environments for the mice to inhabit, from ski slopes to cozy home libraries. While some visitors found the conditions satisfactory with a slight odor, others noted issues with the cashier and animal treatment at related museums.
A Magical Experience for the Whole Family! Myszogród in Zakopane is truly one of the most unique and delightful attractions we have ever visited! Our entire family, from kids to grandparents, was absolutely enchanted by this magical world of mice. We had never heard of anything like it before, and it completely exceeded our expectations. The attention to detail in every miniature scene is simply breathtaking. The tiny houses, beautifully designed furniture, musical instruments, and even moving trains create a fairytale-like experience that feels straight out of a dream. Watching the mice interact with their surroundings—riding trains, exploring little castles, and even “flying” in tiny UFOs—was an absolute joy. What makes this place so special is not just the adorable mice but also the creativity and passion behind it. It’s clear that a lot of love and dedication went into making Myszogród a one-of-a-kind attraction. Unlike anything else in the world, it changes the way you see these little creatures, making them feel like tiny, charming residents of their own magical town. We spent over an hour just taking it all in, and the kids didn’t want to leave! It’s a must-visit for families, animal lovers, and anyone who enjoys imaginative experiences. Highly recommended—Myszogród is a place that will stay in our hearts forever!
Oksana O — Google review
Be careful: We witnessed mice eating their newborn babies. The spectacle is not for children! Advantages: Cheap attraction for the whole family. Amazing decorations and cute mice. Disadvantages: Toilets were dirty. The museum is very small.
Arina Z — Google review
The place was quite unique and definitely something you don’t see every day. It was very cool to explore and watch, and the concept itself is impressive. However, the experience is rather short — you can see everything in about 30 minutes. For that amount of time, it felt quite expensive. Overall: A fascinating and unusual attraction that’s worth seeing once, but be aware it’s a brief visit for the price.
Christopher G — Google review
A very charming and unique little attraction! 🐭✨ The idea of creating small themed worlds for the mice and degus is absolutely adorable — from mountain villages to fairy-tale forests, each setup looks like a miniature wonderland. Watching the mice explore, climb, and interact with their surroundings was truly heartwarming and fun to see up close. The ticket price was 28 PLN, which feels a bit high considering how short the visit is. The displays are creative and detailed, but some areas could definitely use better maintenance — a few enclosures didn’t smell great and looked like they could be cleaner. I also noticed that some parts of the setups (like high poles or steep slopes) could be unsafe for the tiny animals. Overall, it’s a very memorable experience, especially for animal lovers or families with kids. With a bit more attention to cleanliness and animal safety, this place could easily become a must-visit gem in Zakopane. ❤️
Marko M — Google review
Awful conditions for the mice. The smell was unbearable and if it was like that for me, I can't imagine how bad it must be inside the cages. Poo everywhere. Unacceptable. There were way too many mice to a cage, especially one tiny one where all the mice were piled on top of each other. There was 1 wheel per cage, which is not enough for so many mice. I saw 3 mice trying to crawl in at the same time. The wheels were also too small I think and will cause back problems for the mice. Even disregarding the blatant animal welfare issues, as a customer, the experience was awful due to the smell. This place should be shut down.
LPS L — Google review
We just visited this place while waiting for our train. You can pay by card, 28 zl per ticket is quite expensive for small area. However, they have very nice decorations and very cute mice. Friendly lady, clean toilets.
Q V — Google review
Attraction is in basement, many different windows with different setting. It was cute to watch the mouses in different environments. Conditions was quite good, not dirty, just a bit of a smell from beginning. The only problem was cashier. We didn't have a problem the payments was possible only by cash, but she wanted exact amount of cash because she didn't have any change. We have to leave and buy something in order to have some change exactly as she wanted. Not very welcoming.
Silvia C — Google review

It was wonderful like Alice in Wonderland. Haha. Lovely light park is good for children or you can go here with a boyfriend/girlfriend it could be romantic.

Hostel
Good Bye Lenin Hostel, located on the outskirts of Zakopane, offers simple dorms and private rooms with breakfast and a TV lounge. The hostel's rustic appearance resembles a pioneer cabin in the Oregon Cascades, providing easy access to hiking trails in Tatra National Park. It is within walking distance of Nosal Ski Station and has received excellent ratings for its location. Guests can enjoy free parking, a picnic area, and a garden while taking advantage of laundry service and tourist information.
I had a pleasant time at this hostel, but there were a few ups and downs. The location is fantastic - not only are you close to the bus, but also the mountains, which makes it ideal for hikers. It's also a very quiet place, perfect for relaxing. The included breakfast and the kitchen was an absolute highlight. It is super equipped, which made cooking on site really easy and enjoyable. Unfortunately, there are only two hotplates, which makes it a little difficult in the evenings. The people at the hostel were also incredibly friendly and welcoming. The staff were not only lovely, but also enjoyed spending time with the guests, which created a very familiar atmosphere. However, there were also a few negative aspects. In the morning it was a disaster to use the showers or toilets as they were always full. The bedrooms were unfortunately a bit dark and the laundry didn't dry well. Also, doing laundry in the machine costs about 10€ extra, which is not cheap. I enjoyed my stay, especially thanks to the great people and the relaxed atmosphere.

Clean. Good shower. Good bed. This hostel is the best! It’s run by volunteers who are also fellow travelers and they are awesome. Everyone sits around the campfire or lounge room each night for dinner and the vibes are unmatched. Same for breakfast in the mornings. Honestly my best hostel experience so far.

Coming to Zakopane from Taiwan involved many decisions — booking flights, trains, and accommodations. Among all these choices, staying at Good Bye Lenin Hostel was the best decision I made. The staff and guests here are all very friendly and courteous. The staff, in particular, are always happy to help — especially when it comes to providing information about hiking, buses, and nearby supermarkets. For a foreigner like me who knows nothing about Zakopane, this information was incredibly valuable. Thanks to the staff’s assistance, my time in Zakopane was truly joyful.

To say I loved this place would be a criminal understatement. I visited with 6 other friends and I couldn't be more happy that we chose this hostel. We booked the 8-person dorm with private bathroom. It was a simple but nice room right next to the hostel's entrance. The people staying here were very social and we talked to each other for hours. It felt like a second home. Every night, there were activities and sometimes food (movie night, Pierogi). I want to thank the owner, volunteers and my friends for the best trip of my life :) Also, the smell people talk about is not a bad one and it just appears sometimes, no idea how, haha.

A wonderful quiet and cozy place on the entrance to the polish Tatras:) not only does it attract the most interesting and lovely people that you could meet while travelling, but also does it give you herbs of hiking opportunities just across the street, entering TPN national park. I highly recommend a stay there as you'll be with the lovely guests volunteers and owner of this hostel. Marzena is a wonderful host, caring daily for the wellbeing of everybody and will help as best as she can:) thank you so much for the amazing time I go lt to spend with you all and kind regards to everyone. Love you guyyys<3

The best hostel I have stayed in to date. It's really the vibe and the people that make it so good. Wish I had stayed longer than 2 nights
Samuel P — Google review
Hostel is in a great location and is only a few minutes walk to the start of a trail, with a couple others about 15 mins walk away. There are nice restaurants and cafes nearby and is right next to the bus stops that will take you into town or to start the morskie oko trail. Hostel was warm as well which was nice given the freezing temperatures and the living room is a nice vibe, where you can hang out with staff and other guests. Only downsides were that there were only two toilets for the whole hostel which can be quite difficult when everyone is getting ready to go out / has arrived back at the same times. All the staff were very nice but some didn't seem too bothered about helping out as much, one member kept on telling people to take a bed which someone was already sleeping in in our room and would then quickly disappear. Also had to make your own bed up, which is fine but annoying when guests come in late at night and have to do this - have never been in a hostel where this is the case

This lively venue is renowned for its eclectic programming, hosting everything from the festive White Nights celebrations to nu-jazz performances and energetic ragga concerts. With an impressive lineup of international DJs spinning house, breaks, and drum'n'bass tracks, it attracts party enthusiasts from cities like Warsaw and Krakow.
Loved this Place! A very friendly, attractive and well-located place to chill and relax (few steps from main Krupówki street, but aleady enough to hide from all that noisy crowd). The inner ambience is too good and trust me as soon as you enter here you won't feel like stepping out. Place serves great Italian food with good portion size ( I went with main course and desserts..fondant was yammmy).

Dolina ku Dziurze is a hidden gem near Kuznice, offering an easy hike through a forest with picturesque views of the surrounding hills. The paved walkway leads to a limestone cavern, making it perfect for families with kids due to its proximity to Zakopane and flat terrain. However, visitors should be cautious as the cave is not fully secured, and descending into it is at their own risk. It's advisable to bring flashlights as the cave can be dark inside.
Amazing unforgettable view of nature, super fresh air. Walk along running clean water streams. Quiet and relaxing environment perfect for holiday after noisy live of cities.
Marcin A — Google review
Easy, uncrowded, and short touristic track. Doable in regular sneakers even when slightly wet, but you have to be careful or more appropriate footwear is recommended. The inside of the cave isn't anything special :).
Roman — Google review
Cool cave, be careful going down into the cave, icy patches on de floor are barely visible. It was nice to have a flashlight, a phone lamp wouldnt do the place justice.

Hidden gem. It's a single path so ensure you make it before going to Sarnia Skała trip. The cave is not fully secured so descent is on your own risk. Take flashlights as it's dark inside. Fantastic air inside...

Dolina Olczyska is a wide valley in the Tatra Mountains, featuring a wooden church and surrounded by pine forests and ponds. The moderate trails make it popular with families, offering beautiful and easy walks. Visitors can explore the wooden church before embarking on the trail, accessible for a small fee at the entrance kiosk. Despite some abandoned structures along the way, there are ample opportunities to relax amidst stunning natural views.
Not sure what the purpose of the small cabin was but there was nothing inside, just broken wood. On the bright side, there’s a place to sit and relax outside!

Tatrzański Park Edukacyjny is a wildlife park that offers an educational experience showcasing the nature, animals, and plants of the Tatra region. It follows an Australian-style zoo model and has received rave reviews for its interactive and entertaining lectures. The park provides opportunities for children to feed and pet the animals while learning about them. With friendly staff members, well-maintained facilities, and a pleasant atmosphere, it's a must-visit destination for families with kids.
Good place to visit with kids in Zakopane. There are no additional fees for animal food. Big playground. We spent 3 hours in total. And it was fun!

Amazing place here! Must visit with kids. Feeding is free (you make donation up to you). Animals are amazingly taken care of, ultra clean and calm place. Amazing kids playground for the kids with great view and fresh air. Must visit in Zakopane!
Domantas B — Google review
It’s a very nice small zoo. The highlights of the visit were feeding the deer, sheep, and goats. All the animals seemed well cared for, with enough space to live and be active. The only downside was the bird cages the owls didn’t have as much space as they needed and were kept alone. Aside from that, it was a really nice experience, with a beautiful view of the mountains 🤩.
Hossein K — Google review
Went to the park following google recommendations and we were not disappointed! Staff does a great job there! Our 2.5 year old did not want to leave, we spent there 3 hours. Lectures which are provided at the park are super interesting and entertaining, even for adults. Place follows australian zoo model concept. Really cool. Beware, your kid may not want to leave;)
M Z — Google review
Well maintained and laid out, my kids loved it and they have a great playground.
Daniel C — Google review
The zoo was really nice and peaceful. The place was very clean, both for the animals and for visitors. The animals looked healthy and happy. I just wonder if the owls are always kept in cages. if so, that’s sad. That’s the only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5.
Parniyan — Google review
Amazing place to stop by with kids! Little ones can feed and pet the animals, learn about them and spend some good time in the playground. The staff was very pleasant too. The park is situated in a street full of restaurants and food trucks. Recommended!
