Grayton Beach State Park is a sprawling 2,000-acre park that offers a variety of activities such as ocean swimming, boating on the lake, hiking and biking trails, and camping. Recently named the Third Most Beautiful Beach in America by Forbes Magazine, it boasts natural beauty, clean sand, pleasant weather, and an array of wildlife. The park surrounds the neighborhood on three sides and is home to art galleries and a famous dive bar.
We had a wonderful time at Grayton Beach State Park. We were able to find a great spot on the beach and enjoy time to relax as well a wonderful time in the water. The sand is very fine and welcoming. I would highly recommend getting there mid morning to get the best parking and location on the beach. The restrooms were clean and nearby. Bring something to provide shade, as it gets hot in the direct sun. Enjoy your time in Florida on the beach.

Grayton Beach State Park is an exceptional location! It costs $5 per car for admission. However, be sure to get there early. Once the park reaches capacity, they will close the entrance for a while.
We arrived mid-afternoon to take the one mile hike through the white sand dunes. It was an easy walk with amazing views. The sand can get hot though. So, be sure to have appropriate footwear.
After the hike, we went to the beach for a quick swim. The water was clear, blue, and cool. We enjoyed it so much that we didn’t want to leave. We highly recommend exploring nature at this location.
Another beautiful Florida Beach State Park. Gate staff were friendly and helpful. Nice paved roads and parking lots throughout. Nice restroom facilities near the beach. Beaches were beautiful and as untouched as you can find. The sand dunes are roped off and very cool. Great place for family photos. Lots of photographers utilize this location.
Excellent state park with fantastic camping. Each site is large and has a nice large area with a picnic table and fire pit. Most sites are shaded. All sites have 30/50amp, water, and sewer. The bathrooms are nice and air conditioned and air to be well kept. The staff is extremely nice. The park is approximately 1.5-2 miles from Watercolor and Seaside. Will definitely be staying here whenever we’re lucky enough to obtain a spot. The campground is just under a mile from the beach access.
Grayton Beach State Park is an absolute gem along the Emerald Coast. Not only do you get the gorgeous sugar-white sand and emerald waters, but there’s so much more. You can have a lovely picnic, take a relaxing nature walk on the trails, and even rent a kayak or paddleboard to explore the coastal dune lake. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a little piece of Florida’s natural beauty
This is a great State Beach. There is a Turtle Reef you can swim out to and snorkeling to see all of the marine life.
There is also an RV camp ground.
There is some construction taking place so when you visit, follow the ling mat and don't go on the boardwalk because it's closed off.
It's laid back and most of the people are family, boomers and Gen X.

We’ve brought family from out of state here just to experience it—it’s that special. On calm days, we love to paddleboard along the shoreline, and for those into diving, the Underwater Museum of Art (UMA) just offshore adds a truly unique experience you won’t find at most state parks. Sculptures become reef habitat, and diving there combines art, conservation, and adventure all in one.
Whether you’re here for recreation or relaxation, Grayton Beach State Park offers a rare mix of natural beauty, peace, and accessibility. It’s one of the most unforgettable spots on the Gulf Coast—and a place we’ll keep coming back to for years to come.
We came to Grayton Beach State Park for Beach access on this trip. It is perfect for that. We had to wait a little while for parking one of the days but were lucky to get in not long after we got there. The beaches are close to the parking area, clean, and aren't as crowded as most other public beach areas.
Even though we didn't go on any trails this year, some of the trails at this park are awesome. Western Lake is beautiful.
My only complaint is with the online reservation system for Florida State Parks. I purchased a day pass, but that did NOT guarantee us entry into the park (unlike with Texas State Parks.... day passes are like gold on busy or holiday weekends!). I wasted $5 buying it, thinking it was truly like a reservation.

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park is a hidden gem for nature lovers and camping enthusiasts alike. The spacious RV sites come equipped with full hookups, ensuring a comfortable stay amidst the natural beauty. Visitors can explore miles of scenic trails or opt for a charming tram ride to the beach if they prefer not to walk.
This was one of the best National Parks I have stayed at.
The facilities are very good, everything is kept clean and nice.
We stayed for 10 days at site 51.
The only concern was the pavement in the site which was all broken, it was a bit difficult to stabilize our pop-up tent trailler and almost at the end I had the unfortunate event of falling and twisting my left ankle because of the uneven and broken pavement.
During our stay, we also had the unfortunate event of having a big tree branch falling on top of our trailer which damaged the waning.. I guess there is no much the rangers could do about that as the campsites are under big trees... however it could have been very dangerous if instead of the trailler it fell on someone (we came with 3 children).
We went to the office to inform but a ranger was not available, I just hope someone will rely the message so they can change the pavement of the site and look for other tree branches that might fall?
Other than that our experience was amazing... the beach is absolutely beautiful and the nature around the park is breathtaking. I went with my children early morning to the beach and we were lucky to see dears, many different birds and the alligator track from the pond to the beach and back... pretty amazing!

This place offers a stunning beach with a free tram service that takes you from the day-use parking/campground to the beach. There are multiple coastal dune lakes in the park, with great trails. Campground offers a variety of accomodations including tent sites, RV/camper trailer sites, & cabins. Beaches are clean with clear blue water and white sand that differs from the Florida Keys. Close to Destin, Florida which has multiple great places to visit. Recommend for any State Park enthusiasts out there and anyone looking for an amazing beach to spend their time off at!
One of the nicest beaches on the Gulf.. plenty of fine white sands and sun. The beach is a nice short trip via shuttle. Bike trails and Kayaks to rent. They don't have fire pits but you're able to bring a portable one. No Wifi was a mixed bag of positive and negative. Reception on cellular was great (5G Verizon).

We’ve stayed here twice—once in a camper and then last week in a tent. Both are good, but the tent sites are exceptional: fine gravel pads, clothes lines for towels and such, beautiful natural feel, and close proximity to restrooms and showers.
The beach, too, is great. Especially for kids, kayaks, and paddle boards. If you are into shelling you’ll want to visit some other beaches further to the east as SoWal beaches have next to know shells.
While there we saw bald eagles, a gator, pods of dolphins, and a couple small sharks. The beach itself is pristine and separate from the glut of development that comprises much of 30A. .
We stayed for 5 nights. The staff were super friendly. The smoothie at the café was delicious and refreshing. The campground was clean. The beach was beautiful and the bike trails were perfect. We even made it to the dunes.
The bathrooms were well maintained even with the busyness.
Down sides:
We stayed at site #51. The pad was broken up and was a tripping hazard for us and it was difficult to back the camper in due to the parking right in front.
The pool water was not refreshing at all. We jumped in and jumped right out.
There were more positives than negatives, so I didn't remove a star.

We had a mobile home and it was a wonderful stay. The kitchen was well equipped, it was a nice quiet place. The beach was beautiful, the café was awesome. Bikes were fun. An all around good time!
I love this beautiful park. The swimming pool was nice. Beach access was a couple min walk after the Tram ride that ran every 30mins. Level sites. Location was good with food options within mins of camp and also public beach access if Topsail boardwalk is too much to walk. I can't wait to come back!
This is the nicest park we’ve been to after two months, multiple states, national Parks, State Parks, city parks, you name it. This is the best so far! The sites are spacious, the foliage is beautiful. We enjoyed the walk to the ocean then a nice trolley ride back. We took a dip in the pool and noted lots of people riding bicycles and kids playing everywhere.
The park has full hook up with fantastic water pressure, actually 70 psi so we had to regulate down from there. We only spent one night here in June 2025 and didn’t have time to rent the kayaks or other options they had. An air force base is nearby so don’t be surprised to hear early morning thunder in the sky. We look forward to coming back here and spending at least a week next time.

What a fun and creative experience this place is. Either you’re traveling or live in the area you have to try this place at least once in your life. Create art with glass! It sounds crazy but the end result is mind blowing. It helps a lot that every person working there is super nice and will explain exactly how to create your piece of art in a safe way and you can get inspired by the art displayed on their walls. Will definitely go back and try again!
This is a fun and unique place to create beautiful art. We brought the kids in for an afternoon class. The ladies are so helpful and kind. They have stencils but creating it from hand and mind was just as good and easy. Great for kids and adults or even a peaceful solo experience. Can’t wait to go back!

Small Beach Access with limited parking, and private beach signs on either side. It's not the biggest or the best access, but it still has restrooms, and a shower station so that is nice!
Blue Mountain Beach is one of our favorite 30A beach accesses. I’m giving it 4 stars due to the sometimes inconvenient “private beach” signs that go up during peak seasons. This public beach access has restrooms, a parking lot and some off-street parking. It is within walking distance to Blue Mountain Creamery and Back Door Eats if you get hungry or thirsty. There is no handicap access, just stairs only.
We love Blue Mountain beach! This summer was our 2nd time to vacation there. It is a wonderful small and somewhat secluded area.
Close enough to places to shop and eat but far enough away to be quiet and not so busy. A great place to get away and the beach is absolutely beautiful! Even on the busiest day there was privacy at the beach and room to breathe!
We rented our house from 360 Blue Properties and it was great!

We love visiting here with our kids. They get to buy a souvenir and it is much better priced then anywhere on 30A. Plus, your purchase is actually doing something good for the community. It's a nice, hidden gem for shirts and other stuff.
Our kids also LOVE coming here because they get to feed the huge koi fish. Definitely check this place out if you've never been! The staff inside are so sweet, kind and knowledgeable.
This place is more than just a gift shop with locally labeled items (to prove you came here?); most of what they have a high-quality items, and you're helping support this town's endeavors to make a friendly welcome to visitors and potential residents. Staff is friendly and open to questions about the area. There are the expected pamphlets and local-business advertisements, but there are many other things to see. Go browse for 15-30 minutes. You'll be glad you did. My wife and I pleasantly surprised it was more than just an average experience.
We drove out of our way to visit this welcome center. We had heard such good things about it. The building was beautiful and the people there were so friendly and helpful. They gave us maps and all kinds of helpful information. Even free coloring books for the grandkids. They had a small gift shop. We bought a few things and they give us a free Walton Beach bag for free. They had a koi pond outside there too with turtles in it too. They had beautiful displays and maps on the wall inside.

A must see this visitor center they have a beautiful huge goldfish pond under the walkway and the most friendly and helpful group of ladies working there I took my mother-in-law to get some shirts and I picked up a lot of pamphlets but when I got a fishing regulations guide that I couldn't find anywhere else not even bait shops the ladies went above and beyond to tell me about Pilcher Park a great fishing spot about 3 miles away and a few bait shops that were close by also even tho you can catch your bait at Pilcher Park also.

This is what you hope for in a visitor information center! The ladies that worked there were very friendly and super helpful. They answered all our questions and gave us some great recommendations. I wish we would have stopped a few days earlier - we probably would have adjusted our activities for the better.

Kathleen was such a great teacher and honestly launched my obsession with oil paints. There’s no way you can not enjoy one of her classes. Modus is the complete capture of the 30-A coastline. The Modus Gallery is adorned with photographer, Chandler Williams’, famous works of the 30-A area’s most picturesque photographs. My recent purchase from the exclusive, new “Modus Captured” clothing line, a vintage 1990 Grateful Dead tour shirt expertly sewn onto the back of a repurposed Jean jacket, has become my new staple jacket. Add Modus Gallery to your “must visit” sites while at the beach!!
Chandler was great to work with - I had a very large wall to cover and I couldn’t be happier with the beautiful frame and photo.

The REP Theatre is a charming and intimate venue that boasts a cozy 75-seat stage, perfect for enjoying an array of performances including plays, concerts, magic shows, and improv. Nestled behind Modica Market in Seaside, this hidden gem offers a delightful atmosphere where you can catch everything from the hilarious Awkward Oxen Improv Hour to engaging musical acts like BLKBOK.
Came to listen performance of BLKBOK from Fall Concert Series. Great musician. But theatre needs to add more speakers for better experience. Only one was working. Still rate 5 stars to support local businesses and for the great atmosphere.

On May 10th, my friend and I made the two hour drive from Dothan, Alabama to this terrific theatre, to see The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged). An amazing and gut-busting performance given by 3 high energy, hilarious fellas. The theatre is nice, clean, and comfortably cooled. They offer a wine and beverage bar before the show and at intermission. There is not a bad seat in the house, the risers the seats sit on are high enough to ensure a good view for all. Parking can be a challenge, but we were able to find a spot within a 5 minute walk of the venue. The restroom facilities are just outside the theatre and kept very neat and clean. This theatre is located within a heavily populated, heavy foot traffic area, with many shops, restaurants, and bars to enjoy. Come and see what The Rep has to offer. We are so glad we did.

This is one of Seaside's best hidden gems. Tucked behind the Modica Market, many never realise it exists. For just $7, the Awkward Oxen Improv Hour is honestly a steal. Don't miss it, it's hilarious!

It was wonderful. If you happen to get tickets on the balcony bring a seat pad. The stools provided are not so comfy.

One of my favorite shops in the Grayton Beach area! Found it when we vacationed here a few years ago and I was so happy to see it still here when we came back. I'm not an artsy person, but this place was recommended to us by family. I was extremely impressed by his artwork. It was really neat to see how his art literally pops off the canvas. The 3D look is awesome and the colors are great.
You can just walk on in, chat it up with the people working and ask questions. There's the bottom floor and top. The whole thing was beautiful.
We took about 30 minutes to look at everything. It was worth the bit of a drive to see. People into art can easily stay longer.

The county has done a nice job with this beach, playing the best hand theyve been delt, trying to create a nice location while the locals do all they can to make you never come back. Locals who "own" the beach and wont let anyone use it are the worst. They love the tax revenue but hate the people that bring it to their town. This beach crams hundreds of people into these tiny spaces, fenced in with multiple signs that meet you at the entrance, reminding you of the open miles of beach that you see, may not be used. Our tiny beach cubical is then divided into tents and umbrellas, where rented umbrellas get the best spots in our cage, and actual parking cones line the beach telling you where you can and cannot go. They literally have hired a "beach steward" that goes around trying to uphold the rules like a metermaid. Its a joke. The King of Karen's must run this place. Once all the tourist leave and the businesses close up, I hope these locals finally feel complete and enjoy their sandbox alone with no friends. Dont come to Santa Rosa, unless you like to spend big money to still feel unwelcome. Oh, and the parking sucks so be prepared to hoof it in the sun for about a mile, carrying all your stuff, to get to your 5'x5' square. This place is tone deaf to just being respectful to your fellow man.
As a transplant to Georgia by way of Pennsylvania, I must say the legends are true! This beach was leagues above those I visited in my youth in New Jersey and Delaware. The water and sand were more lovely than I can properly describe, so 5 stars will have to suffice to relay just how brilliant this beach was.
I would encourage visitors to park at a bike rental location and pedal in for this experience. Parking of vehicles was fierce and frustrating. Save yourself the drama and enjoy the salt air on an electric assisted bicycle.

We love Ed Walline Beach Access! Decent amount of parking, compared to other accesses. It has 3 showers I think, and nice bathrooms! Lifeguard presence during season, and the beach is normally pretty deep! I will see it gets pretty busy as expected, but handles the traffic well! Also I love the pic-nic area to escape the sun and eat/relax we needed! We love doing our beach bonfires here!
It’s a very nice area that I’ve never been to before so my husband and I asked the life guards if we’re we were was ok to set up a tent they said yes so we did and once it was all the way set up someone came to tell us we had to move it back like 2 feet and that there were signs (we saw no signs) he then said “I could fine you and make you move it anyway I’m being nice” alrightyyyy so we moved it and honestly had a fine day after that. Only thing that sucks is no shower or any kind of water source (besides the ocean) to get sand off of you after the walk back to the car but oh well. Not horrible probably wouldn’t go back for that reason though.
Beautiful wide beach with white sand. The beach access offers restrooms, picnic pavilion, and showers. We were there in January, and parking was not an issue. However, there were only 40-50 parking spaces, which will not be enough in peak season. The sand on the beach was very nice to walk on. We will be back...

A few simple phone calls to The Zoo Gallery near Destin, FL renewed my faith in real CUSTOMER SERVICE! Stores had closed when I sent my chat message… but I had my answer early the following morning. (Thanks, Austin.) I spoke with Gae, Hannah and Austin. Never have I dealt with more responsive, helpful employees. They are a credit to The Zoo Gallery! In spite of my user error…the “Stand Out From the Herd” shirts were being packed for shipment to me!

We frequently visit this store to explore new and unique items and have purchased several items in the past. Yesterday we chose a framed print to purchase that was exhibited on the wall, with a single price tag of $64.00. The sales lady said that they would get one to bring out. When the other lady delivered the boxed item to the cash register area, she asked if we also wanted the print, saying that it is sold separately for $38.00. We were very disappointed by the misrepresentation of price of the displayed item. Both salespeople were very apologetic, but could not offer any concessions. This store does not honor any form of discount, even in cases of their own error.
I was having trouble finding a place in the outlet that suited my style and was in my price range, I loved this place and the puppy was the most welcoming addition to the crew. The two younger female staff members engaged in a lot of conversation and made us feel at home without the push of products. The lady who helped me check out was the sweetest as well and told me a lot about the place. Overall 10/10
Everybody NEEDS to go to this store!!! It is filled with beautiful art, knickknacks, jewelry, clothes, etc. all made from local, talented artist! Diane was so helpful and you could tell that she really loved her job. She was absolutely amazing.
We have visited this store since we were children every time we went to red bar. We decided to visit this location and the two women were incredibly rude. We were approached twice just while looking through the T-shirts and felt as if we weren’t allowed to touch them very rude did not ask if we needed help just kept pointing out that you could look at the designs on the wall. We walked out without buying anything because of this and we were so excited to get some new T-shirts since we’ve had them for years. Will probably never be back extremely dissatisfied and disappointed.
The Zoo Gallery is a must stop. They have a wide variety of items. Loved the jewelry and art. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You will find things you may not find anywhere else. It's a lot of fun. Stop in and poke around and find that unusual special item. I highly recommend.

Coffeen Nature Preserve is a captivating 210-acre park that serves as both a historical site and a serene natural escape. Once a WWII missile-testing location, this preserve offers guided tours and scenic hiking paths, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in its rich past. During my visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Kay Coffeen, who graciously shared her insights about the area’s fascinating history.
We had a wonderful time visiting this area and hearing about the history from Ms. Kay Coffeen herself. We didn’t have a reservation, but she pulled into the driveway and asked if we needed any help. When we told her we just wanted to see the grounds she made it happen. The area is gorgeous and the history that happened there is incredible to learn about. The people living in this area are literally living on history. Amazing. I think the highlight of us going at the time we did was meeting Ms. Kay Coffeen. She is such a wonderful soul and we are so thankful for her.

Like a few places I tried to visit. This is now, unfortunately, private. This is a Shame, too many places have been allowed to be controlled by a select few.
Have driven past this pace a hundred times without knowing what lies beyond the trees. Until now. This place has a rich history in our early (failed) rocket launching. No wonder we imported all the German rocket scientists. You can go into the bunkers where the tests were observed. If you’re lucky you might even see Jerry Jones (not in the bunkers, in his house). There are herds of deer on this preserve too.
I was very interested in checking out the historical stuff in the description. As other reviewers have pointed out, it's now a private site.

Point Washington State Forest is a hidden gem nestled in South Walton County, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts seeking adventure. With its network of loop trails ideal for hiking and biking, this forest offers an immersive experience in nature. Campers will find spacious primitive campsites that provide a serene escape, though it's advisable to have an off-road vehicle to navigate the terrain comfortably.
A very beautiful forest. We saw some mountain lion tracks too which was cool. The roads are decently maintained but some are closed. You can drive in or hike for free. The ATVs are allowed on the trails in here. There are no services, restrooms & it's not accessible for wheelchairs. Highly recommend for a little exploring.

Great place for hunting or just forest bathing if you don’t mind the noise of the makeshift shooting range and ATVs. Recreational hikers and bikers are also frequent, but they aren’t the problem. Point Washington is large, so you can find places that aren’t noisy/crowded. But it takes some local knowledge.
Beautiful! Loved out exploration of the forests and had a fun time camping here! I do wish the campsites were further apart and the bathrooms were at least useable- but overall a great time! We heard live music across the lake from Old Florida Fish House, and enjoyed the gorgeous lake view!
We camped at Point Washington on our vacation and absolutely loved it! It was the best part of our trip. There’s plenty of room at each campsite, the trails are very clean, and the locals are so helpful. Although, I will say you want to have an off-road vehicle or truck to get to the camps, it’s not impossible. The mud hole pictured isn’t the biggest or smallest, but they all seem accessible with the right vehicle. I will be back, and highly recommend stopping by if you’re ever in the area!

The Point Washington State Forest is a managed forest located in South Walton County. The forest has Jeep trails that allow easy hiking and biking. Primitive camps sites can be rented through state management system. Has numerous wetland habitats and shows the “real Florida” not seen be most visitors. No ATVs allowed, so it’s quiet and full of a wide variety native plants and animal species.
There are so many different places to park and hike from. AllTrails has the trails mapped out.

BEST playground we have found since moving to the area! Toddler playground, big kid playground, lots of things to climb on including multiple rock climbing platforms and a dome, see-saw, car and plane for toddlers, splash pad, and even a skate park. There are lots of swings including a toddler swing, tire swing, and an accessible swing! There are bathrooms including a family restroom (no changing table though) and there is a pavilion with a grill and picnic tables. And there is a walking trail! Hands down best park in the area!

Now with a new concrete skate park! Soccer fields, football and baseball, softball fields. The county does excellent work watering, cutting and grooming these fields. Look and work great. Also a fun little park and splash pad right next door for younger kids.

Mike was great! From start to finish, he made it easy to know what to expect for day of and was right on time. We enjoyed a beautiful night on the beach and Mike delivered great photos of us at sunset. The snores were a hit with the kids. Definitely our favorite night of the trip, this is a must do when visiting 30a you will not be disappointed.

We loved our beach bonfire by Momma Bear! Mike made it such an easy, worry-free process, and even gave us some recommendations for dinner spots in the area in the planning process! We hosted a bonfire on Dune Allen beach, and had a great time. We already had chairs on the beach, so we did the basic plan. Mike was very accommodating since there was some questions about the weather and we moved the date. My family loved it!

Mike helped us get a bonfire scheduled for the day of, his set up was beautiful, and he was extremely nice and welcoming - roasting smores and playing our own music on his speaker, while watching the sunset made it one of the best parts of our trip!!! We had such a great time and would absolutely use Mike again!!! Looking forward to our next trip and next bonfire!

We'd give Padgett Park a solid 3 out of 5 stars. The splash pad was a huge hit for our two-year-old, providing a great, fun space for younger kids. However, the main playground seems built for older kids (4+), so our toddler couldn't really use it. On the upside, the park has a great open field for playing games, plenty of seating, and a BBQ area. The bathrooms were clean but could use some updates. Overall, it's a good spot for a family outing, especially if you plan to use the splash pad.

Padgett Park is a wonderful park for families! It has a large playground, splash pad, swings, soccer field, walking path, grills and restrooms. There are benches and covered areas to eat at and sit. Indoor space for parties is also available. Love being surrounded by all of the trees!

This park was such a treasure to find. They have pickle ball and tennis courts, a playground, a walking track, basketball court, and handball courts. It was amazing outdoor space.

One of the little known local parks..Spacious park with Tennis Courts, Pickleball, Soccer field, Basketball and place to run, jogg, ride a bike and safe walk with your kids and furry friends.. The kids playground is covered so during the summer months your kid can actually play :) There are swings as well... Parking is limited so if you are in during a busy day that may be an issue. Go check it out, you'll love it.

My sister graduated here. Very nice area, clean and open. Parking situation is absolutely appalling. Ran 5 miles to get to the graduation, every street gets filled up for miles for any major event.

Dot Long, Woodie's widow is a superb guide to the galley. She knows the back story on every piece and will help you identify a piece you will love for your home or office. There is no pressure to purchase an art piece and none of the snobbish airs and condescension of many galleries. Rather, one feels one is visiting the home of a friend who enjoys discussing her art collection with you.

Just by chance we were in the area and saw on Google the art studio. It was an awesome experience seeing the works of Woodie and others. Dot was extremely knowledgeable of all pieces and very a kind host. We spent over an hour browsing and talking with Dot about the art and Woodie. With Dot's help we finally made a choice of one of Woodie's works that was not even on the wall but in a stack of several of his works that had not been hung. I truly encourage you to visit the studio. It does not look like much from the outside, but just go up and knock on the door and Dot will welcome you in.
