Bodø Cathedral, also known as Bodo Domkirke, is a significant landmark in Bodø, Norway. Constructed between 1954 and 1956 to replace the church destroyed during World War II, it boasts a Basilica shape and is made of concrete. The interior is adorned with a striking 12-meter-high stained-glass window designed by Age Storstein. The cathedral's detached steeple sets it apart from others in Norway.
This Cathedral is quite surprising for a relatively small town like Bodo. It is well worth visiting, with a modernist appearance outside and a more traditional one inside. Outside the there is an external bell tower which I think is a war memorial for Norwegians in WW2. Inside the cathedral the atmosphere is very peaceful, and the organ was playing when we visited. There is a lovely stained glass window above the altar, and the cover over the font seems to be covered in reindeer hide! There is no charge for visiting the building, and there are also toilets if you need them.

Looks majestic at a quiet town. We couldn’t enter though. It’s a few minutes walk from the nearest shopping mall.

Bodo Iconic church with simple modern architecture The church is located in the city center
Jason L — Google review
I visited this cathedral a Saturday morning in mid July of 2025 and found the door closed, the only day of the week it's not accessible. The previous cathedral was bombed during WWII one of many crimes committed by the Germans in Norway
Sebastian R — Google review
An unexpected gem inside when the outside looks rather cold, uninspiring and somewhat brutal. (Apart from the tower) . Inside its simple but beautifully decorated. The ceiling gives the impression of being in the upside down Hull of ship. It was truly wonderful. A couple of points of note, Entry is free, and there are also toilets inside.
Kevin M — Google review
Walking around Bodo, I spotted the Cathedral so went in. Built in 1956, the exterior harkens back to traditional church shapes but the interior is modern. The stained glass windows really appealed to me; vibrant colors; appear up to date but not abstract. Their 36 panels are smaller sized than normal so you can focus on each panel and then look at the next one. The story-telling panels are interspersed with panels of geometric designs. It’s not overwhelming to look at and is easy to follow the story. Very well designed and executed. The other unusual thing is that there are 10 thick woven rugs on the walls above the pews, about 5’x7’. These represent the fishing rugs that were woven by townswomen for the fishermen to take on their boats to stay warm. Several are vibrantly colored and all have patterns that reflect fishing or stages of life. I didn’t have time to really explore the interior since today was the 1st organ concert of their summer series. I happily paid my $15 and enjoyed 55 minutes of amazing music. The guest organist was from a Paris church. Their info brochure says they have concerts throughout the year and musicians are eager to play here.

A modern structure in elevate position of the town with huge interesting bell tower on the front of it , the inside is light decorated plenty lights with some beautiful stained glass The Place has space for a magnificent organ and playground for kids the place is very popular in town and gather numbers people in services time. The outside is paved with big granite stone not very safe in frozen weather the cathedral has an entrance and facility for disabled-

Incredible museum – even for non-aviation fans! Wonderfully curated with so much attention to detail. Full of fascinating history, not just for plane enthusiasts. A truly memorable experience – absolutely worth a visit!

This is one of the best museum I ever visited. HUGE positive surprise! 100% recommend. Maker sure you have at least half a day because it is not small! Interesting even if you aren’t into aviation.

Waoo ! This place is a state of the art of Aviation museum. This is a must see. The preservation of the machine is incredible, the scenic impressive, very well documented. Well done for such great achievement 👏🏻👍🏻
Frederic O — Google review
The museum is amazing. I am an airline pilot myself and must say I was amazed, especially the military aviation section. The U-2 Dragon Lady, one of my all-time favorite was a huge surprise to me! There is really nothing to complain about. I did notice in the civil aviation section that the dates were a bit out of order in terms of following it chronologically (the dates were correct), and I also noticed a complete lack of mention of Santos Dumont, the first pilot to start and land a self-propelled aircraft. Be that as it may, I’d still rate it 100%
Giani P — Google review
Great museum. So many planes (!), but also so much more. From early flights and myths and spectacles; to commercial and military... All fascinating. Give it plenty of time. 3-4 hours of wonder; a cafe; and great guides. A joy. Thank you.

Brilliant museum at a reasonable price would highly recommend, wasn’t expecting the size and variety of items particularly from ww2

Excellent museum. There’s a range of brilliant exhibits on military and civil aviation, and you can climb the control tower which gives a lovely view over Bodø. I spent 1/2 hours here but could’ve spent more. Costa 195 NOK for an adult and it’s worth it.

Hundholmen Brygghus is a popular spot in the city, offering a diverse dining experience. The restaurant features an a la carte menu with locally sourced ingredients, while the bar serves up traditional yet high-quality dishes. With its own in-house brewery, Hundholmen Brygghus boasts a strong focus on beer, offering several types of home-produced beers alongside a wide selection of other beverages.
Moral conundrum or not, eating a whale driven dinner was on my to do list. A very “When in Bodø” moment. Chat GPT recommended Hundholmen Brygghus and they did not disappoint! First they brought out a free appetizer for my friend and I, the whale had a unique flavor but was perfectly cooked and the dessert was also fantastic. Two thumbs up.

awesome pub in the center of Bodø on two floors. it feels like you are in a real Irish pub. delicious fries, the burger is ok. definitely worth a try for a quick lunch or if you want to enjoy a great beer in front of the sea

It was fine. Good house made beer. I had the open faced steak sandwich. Family had burgers. Really good fries. We were there shortly after they opened so it was quiet. Bartender was friendly and the toilets were clean. Worth a stop if you are waiting for your ferry.

The casual yet unique atmosphere, with well decorated place and delicious food put this restaurant in my top list in the Scandinavian region. I took the five course meal, which was a great experience. The service was lovely, friendly and very caring.

very high quality food both at the restaurant and at the bar, excellent local beer, and the best nachos i’ve had in europe

A nice busy place, with a mix of large parties and single diners, and drinkers outside in the patio area. I had the mixed starters / very nice assortment of whale, ham, cheese, fishball, olives and crisp bread. Had a streak with chips for my main. The steak was disappointing and tasted like liver. Not a lot of choice for desert, had the Chocolate moose. Nice waiting staff, friendly and welcoming

Some of the most hospitable staff I’ve met in the industry! Damn good house brewed beer on tap as well as proper crafted cocktails with care to create house prepared syrups, infusions, and “super juice” lemons for quality and consistency with sour drinks. The whole place was rented out for the Power Forum conference and they served over 300 people arriving at once without a hitch. Colour me impressed 💯

Restaurant Bjørk, located in Glasshuset, offers a delightful Italian dining experience with homemade pasta and stone oven-baked pizzas. The menu also features unique dishes like pumpkin schnitzel and grilled reindeer cooked on a charcoal grill. When the weather is pleasant, guests can enjoy their meals in the outdoor dining area with views of Kulturkvartalet and the harbor. The restaurant's welcoming ambiance and professional service make it a favorite dining spot in Bodo.
Pizza crust is soft and the pizza had a lot of cheese, ham and mushroom. Not very salty and is quite good. Omelette was also tasty and i liked it very much. Lastly, the pasta was the tastiest dish. The cream cheese made the pasta taste really good ans the bacon and chicken added to the good taste.

I have travelled the world and eaten at many high quality restaurants. The grilled stock fish meal is the best meal I’ve had in my entire life. I can’t recommend this place enough. I will be going back each day I am in Bodø to experience this culinary sensation. If you ever meet a kid named Bjørk in Midwest America that is my child and they were named after this meal I’ve just had.

The food was delicious. We had the wolf/cat fish and the chef recommendation menu. The chef menu had lots of varied and tasty courses. It would have been too much food for me but the other two with me loved it! Friendly service and calm atmosphere.

Where to begin - the food was cooked to perfection with filling portion sizes and packed with flavour, especially for the pizza and dessert. The wine choices were also excellent, each one complementing the meal. The atmosphere was perfect, especially for a one year anniversary celebration and the service from the staff was excellent - attentive, friendly and welcoming!

The wolffish here was absolutely divine. Don’t let the location of this arctic city fool you, this food is legit. And that’s coming from a Chicagoan who’s eaten at some of best restaurants in Chicago

3 of us Stopped in here when we had a stop over on the Hurtugruten. We had lunch and we had the soup of the day along with fish and chips.. yes how "Italian" of us. However that's what I'm like, it's their Norwegian take on it and it works. Soup of the day was good, could have done with more fish in the soup but the taste was great. Their focaccia needs more work, probs a little more salt and seasoning. Fish and chips was good. The fish was their local cod but was dried out which it what they call "Tursk" strange to me that you would deep fry already dried fish but I sorta worked and tasted good. Not a bad spot for lunch.

I was planning to go somewhere else, but that wasn't open yet. I went here instead. The service is really good, quite some table's occupied, but I didn't have to wait long at all ,for my Pizza Bjork. It is one of the best pizza's I ever ate. It's very tasty and the Pesto and the Salami ,work really well together.

Beautiful and chill place in Bodo. This is a retro milk bar with a modest selection of pastries, waffles, and sandwiches that are tasty. You can also get some soft drinks. History Museums
Nestled in the charming town of Bodø, the Nordland Museum is a treasure trove of regional history and culture. Established in 1888, though housed in a building from 1904, this museum has faced its share of challenges, including damage during World War II when it served as a meeting place for a fascist party. Today, visitors can explore fascinating exhibitions that delve into local heritage—from archaeological artifacts dating back to the Iron Age to insights into traditional Sami culture.
Found this museum on a stop at Bodø,it had been given over to a celebration of Sami art and culture for 2025. We were warmly welcomed and given a personal tour. The dry aquarium in the basement was great fun
Nick T — Google review
The Sapmi exhibit was such a wonderful experience, especially for a rainy day. Each work of art was thoughtfully explained in the available pamphlets. Wide variety of media. The staff was so sincere and caring, and we had a really heartfelt conversation about the exhibition’s significance to all of us today. I loved it!
Cathlene B — Google review
A small scale Museum, giving five stars here for the extremely friendly welcome and the very interesting 25 minute Bodo film presentation. The dry aquarium is interesting but small so don’t have high expectations. Otherwise some interesting temporary exhibitions. Certainly worth a visit to enhance your knowledge and understanding of the history of Bodo and the region.
Lewis N — Google review
Very interesting and precise museum telling Bodø’s long story from its founding, to present day. Short and precise, so in some areas i would have loved a bit more information, and the qr guide codes didnt work when i visited which meant i probably missed some information. Tip top service from the staff!
Mathias F — Google review
Had a wonderful time at this museum last night. Firstly, I appreciated the locker and coat rack... it's so nice to enjoy a museum without worrying about coats and backpacks. Secondly, the staff member we talked to was lovely and clearly very passionate about the museum as well as the local products they carried. The exhibits about the Sapmi people were beautiful and fascinating... I learned so much more about the history and culture of these people... well done!
Lauren R — Google review
I would agree with a previous review as 150 kr was definitely not worth spending here ( 2 rooms of installation Art which I did not connect with then a 25 minute documentary on Bodo which was very superficial and a tank of taxidermied fish, most of the lights to indicate each fish written in Norwegian weren’t working ….absolutely nothing else). The city’s Salmon centre was surprisingly much more interesting and better value so I’d recommend this even though it is a biased presentation about salmon farming.
Tsui-Wen C — Google review
Museum closed today although google says it is open. In gift shop, girl behind counter said the museum was closed for the whole of September. Please update online.

Totally stunning views from the top of the mountain. The point of 366 meters above sea level is called Keiservarden and is a rather easy and nice hike close to Bodo. Travel to Turisthytten and walk from there. The path is 2.3 km of which the fist km is a really easy path, wide and smooth. The last 1.3 km is still an easy walk but know it goes up hill with uneven stone stairs mixed with mountain paths and stony parts. Lots of people run up to the top and most people wear running shoes but I recommend a light walking shoe for the hike and some warm clothes for the top once you reach it. You'll want to stay and it can be quite windy up here. The view will show you Saltstraumen, Kjerringoy, Bodo city and if you go in the summer on a sunny day - an amazing midnight sun.

Svein H — Google review
Concert Hall & Library are okay, but overall Bodø is rather ugly. Almost as though the mindset is: We're located in one of the most beautiful places on the planet & everyone's going to Lofoten anyway, so what do we need to care about our pathways & city architecture... Addendum, 16.12.2023: After the reply from Stormen Concert Hall (cf last pic), I feel a little embarrassed, somewhat sorry even for my harsh words. I do, o/c, recognize the monstrous destructions the Germans brought over Norway in WWII! But in addition to this, there seems to be a certain general negligence in Norwegian city planning/zoning, which I also found in Tromsø, parts of Trondheim, even in places such as Oppdal, that can't be solely explained with reference to the aftermath of WWII. I've discussed this with a lot of local people during the trip, particularly in Tromsø, many of whom expressed their disappointment with their resp. city's architecture. It seems the situation got worse since, say, the 1980s when city planers gave largely unrestricted leeway to big corporate real estate players. And those guys usually pay less attention to the aesthetics of their buildings within a city's structure than they do to corporate profit. To prevent the resulting architectural disasters is actually the task of sensible city planning. Either way, I appreciate the reply & honestly wish Bodø only the best, particularly for Bodø2024, when the city is the European Capital of Culture! I may even be back then.

Supercool, if you're into some local flavor. The art museum had beautiful paintings, and they had a back room with some extremely fun drawings and prints, but the highlight is the ethnographic part, with collections of all sorts of cool historical objects right at hand crammed into a few rooms. Like being in the garage of an obsessive collector. If you go, you'll have the place mostly to yourself. Takes about an hour or so to fully enjoy. Proprietor is super nice.

Historical landmark
The Nyholms Fort and Lighthouse in Bodo harbour is a historic landmark that dates back to 1810. Although it was abandoned in 1835, it has been restored to its original condition and opened for public tours since the mid-1960s. The fortress offers a rustic experience with its surrounding hills, providing visitors with a nice view of Bodo town's Castle. Despite being exposed to wind due to its open location, the fort is a wonderful place to visit.
Wonderful place, with nice view into the Castle of Bodø town, surrounded by hills. I Had wonderful experience in here open place so might by a bit windy so by ready for what. In opposite side directions have one side to the Mountain and sea in other side is growing Bodø town.

Very nice place for some amazing pics from the other side of Bodo city. You get really good 360 degree view of the area. Glad I visited this place. Only 10 min from the marina area. Free to visit. Free parking nearby, too. If you are in Bodo city, do visit.
Purvang K — Google review
Adorable miniature fortress ruins with gorgeous view over the skyline. Although being not so easy to reach without the use of a car or a bike these ruins remain a must-see in the small town of Bodø. The place is extremely tiny and can require not more than 10 minutes to be thoroughly explored. Anyway it provides some really nice views over the city and surrounding areas with the sea and various islands all around. For tourists coming to Bodø in either train or plane it's recommendable to make use of the widely available electric scooters provided by Ryde. A good advice is to opt for the daily pass so to be able to explore the entirety of the town autonomously. Free public toilet is available (only in specific season). A short visit to the fort is highly recommended for anyone passing by Bodø.

We were here for NYE 2024. The bartenders were friendly and efficient. We never had to wait in a long line to get drinks. There was a great DJ spinning tunes. I Shazamed a lot of new music to enjoy at home. There were four of us, and we found a table to hang out in. There are a ton of different rooms to gather in and a pool table. The food and coffee were really good - I had a coffee with rose and chilli in it, which was tasty, and a dish with vegetables, avocado, and humous. It was all delicious and I liked the relaxing atmosphere. However, the staff took my order then went into a meeting without telling the person making the food about my order - so my wait was quite long as I had to chase it up. Bodin Church, located in Bodo, Norway, is a historic stone church dating back to 1240. It is the oldest standing building in the area and has undergone continuous restoration and modification over the years. The church showcases a blend of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles, giving it a unique historical significance. Visitors can experience the medieval ambiance with its old decor and ethereal atmosphere during events like Christmas midnight mass or concerts.
A medieval church featuring romanesque architecture. Smells of history, dust and creaky old wood. Christmas midnight mass is magical. The organ is world class. If you get a chance to go to a concert here it will be good, whoever is playing or singing... guaranteed! I've sung here myself and it's an ethereal experience. A wander through the nearby cemetery and the neighboring public farmyard with duckpond is a good way to round off the Bodinkirke experience. Notice the ship hanging from the ceiling, a feature in most if not all Norwegian churches, but at Bodin it seems to be organic to architecture, grown right out of the green painted wood of the balcony and straight backed pews.
SUHAS D — Google review

We went to this nice church expecting some good photo opportunities. This church is not a tourist hotspot as it is a little bit outside of Bodo. Bodø Bunkermuseum, also known as Jentofthaugen Bunker Museum, offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of WWII in Bodø. This well-preserved Nazi bunker was originally built in 1943 to house a secret communication station for the German air force, the Luftwaffe. With walls and ceilings that are 2 meters thick and constructed with 1300m3 of concrete, it stands as Bodø's largest concrete bunker.
Very Insightful, with extremely well-informed staff.
Trond W — Google review
Disappointing that you have to book in advance. Turned up at 11 on a Saturday and it was utterly closed. You’d imagine that might be a good time to be open! Looks like it’s in someone’s back garden.
Andrew G — Google review
The bunker at the Jentofthaugen was built in 1943 by the German occupation force and it was used as a transmission station for Luftwaffe. It is Bodø's largest concrete bunker and to the casting it went with 1300m3 concrete, Walls and ceilings are 2 meters thick. In the post-war period, both the Civil Defense and the Home Guard have used the facility. In the summer of 2014, the war-historical association Bodø, in cooperation with the municipality of Bodø, took over the bunker for the purpose of repairing it. 3 years and many hundreds (thousands) of hours of passionate enthusiasts have really produced results. Now the bunker appears as very well maintained and contains a war history museum in addition to being a gathering place for up to approx. 20 people. We do guided tours on request. Rental for meetings, lectures etc. is possible and the atmosphere in the bunker makes it an experience one does not forget at first.

Bodø Airport is a small, clean, and efficient airport located within walking distance or a short bus ride from the city center. It offers easy access to the city, train, and ferry. The airport is known for its simplicity and lack of crowds, especially in winter. Visitors can enjoy a trip to the top of the old air traffic control tower for views of flight traffic unfolding at the nearby airport. Additionally, there is an adjacent air museum to explore.
Fly from Oslo and transit here to fly further to Leknes. Although this airport is small, having a full function and very clean. It has shops and restaurants to take a break during waiting for a next flight.

Very quick and comfortable experience, a good play area for children and also very quick security checks, nice workers and good accessibility. The airport also has buses and taxis right in front of it. Just a heads up though, there aren't any taxis after 10pm or so. One big negative though, is that they took a lot of time getting the bags out of the airplane, and we waited for 45 minutes for our bags.

Small airport. So no many F&B here. However, this is the airport that connect Oslo - Lofoten - Tromso. Their arrangement are good, especially for connecting flight. Our connection time just less than an hour, we were quite worry about the walking time from 1 terminal to another. But they arranged it good, just walked up the stairs or down the stairs, the next terminal will be in front of you. Good arrangement. There is convenient shop near the terminal. Quite a lot of passengers come here.

Self check-in Maschines but no human support when it didn’t work to scan the boarding pass. No button to call for someone as well. No staff around to help us. Asked two staff persons to help us, they said they will get someone, but never returned. A nice lady at Wideroy helped us in the end after ages and we arrived 20minutes after the gate closed 😵‍💫

Very nice small airport. Sometimes it is so good to be in a small not so busy airport. The staff was friendly, there is a nice souvenir shop and a bigger food shop. Plenty of seat are provided. We had no trouble. The airport is very near to the city and it is very clean. Liked it.

About 15 minutes walk from the city centre. Few small shops available, including kiosk and restaurant. Not too crowded, many free seats in the airport and very good options for charging your equipment.
Thomas ( — Google review
This small airport takes itself way too seriously with over-zealous security procedures. Short of a cavity search, your entire bag is searched including pulling out charging cables, batteries, electronic devices, etc. Despite that, they missed a pocket knife in my carryon that I forgot to take out.

A lovely place to see glimt in action. Easy to find toilets that are clean and stores to buy something to eat and drink. Clean around the place and very helpful staff.

The fact that the stadium is "old school" makes the place charming. There is also a nice atmosphere for a stadium of 8,000 people. However, it is time to build a more modern stadium, specially to fight against the weather conditions in Norway 🌬️🥶

Movie theater
If you're looking to unwind with a quality film, head to Fram Kino, located in the city center. The entrance is situated in Glasshuset, and you can check their showtimes and prices beforehand. Unlike some places in southern Europe, English-speaking movies are not dubbed but rather have Norwegian subtitles. The cinema itself is impressive; however, one drawback is that if you stay for an extended period of time, the leather chairs may cause discomfort and sweating.
It is a good movie theatre although it is quite small. It serves the size of its city quite well with one large screen and two smaller ones, considering that Bodø only has approximately 50 000 people. The quality of the sound and image is rather good, and the concession stand, although small, has all the features you'd expect. New movies come first, even the 3D ones.
Bjørn H — Google review
Ok, if you want to be nostalgic and remember what it was like to go to the movies in the 80's, this is your place. If you want to experience a new film in all it's visual and audio splendor, this is not the place to go. With today's audio technology being a more prevalent aspect of the movie experience, this place is severely lacking in that department. Their surround system is "ancient" by today's standard and does not have that premium sound you'd expect with new movies. I highly doubt the system was built by theater specialists. The main theater screen is on the small side, the chairs are small and uncomfortable, there's minimal leg room except for one row near the back. There are a few super comfortable chairs you can get for a premium but they are in less than ideal locations. The seating angle is not steep enough and the bathrooms, although clean, are not built for large crowds. The 2 smaller theaters upstairs are very small and are not recommended. You should just wait until the movie is released on blu-ray or a streaming service and watch it at home as the experience would be the same for way less money. If the owners read this, I have a bit of advice; shut this place down, take out a loan and build a proper theater. Bodø needs it and if you don't, someone else will and you'll be either forced to upgrade or you'll go out of business. It's time to be part of the 21st century. P. S. The snack bar is great. Could you add bacon pølse and Reese's Pieces to the menu?
Nathan B — Google review
The place itself is amazing. The cinema only has one downfall and that’s that if you sit there for long enough, you might start getting uncomfortable and start sweating because of the leather chairs.
NS_NoGold — Google review
An ageing cinema with three small screens, the 2nd and 3rd screens maybe 30 people and do not really relay the modern cinema experience at all. Screen one is just adequate.

Rampen Via Ferrata offers an exhilarating climbing experience that combines breathtaking views with a healthy dose of adrenaline. Under the guidance of Svein, who is not only fluent in English but also incredibly encouraging, climbers can tackle routes suited to their skill levels. While the easier paths present their own challenges—especially in windy and icy conditions—the more difficult Silver Route demands prior rock climbing experience due to its steep cliffside ascent.
Undoubtedly the best experience I had in Norway. The views while climbing are mesmerizing. Sven is an amazing person, he guides you through the whole climbing which makes your climbing experience even better. If you are lucky you will also see big Jellyfish, Dolphins too in the water. All the best Sven!!

A-ma-zing climbing experience for beginners (63, M) and advanced climbers (32, F) as well. (I'm a plastic rock boulderer who hasn't been on outside climbs yet) We went during winter time (February), so a bit icy here and there for an extra level of adventure. We had the luck we were the only ones. So after our guide Svein told us how the equipment works, safety and what (not) to do. He could tell us all about how the climbs were made, the plans he has to expand his business/routes a bit (he has 2 routes as of now), what kind of nature is all around us. About the eagles, the ravens, the cliff itself and also the schools of fish down below and how he was visited once by whales. All this while having an amazing view, he gave us useful tips at harder parts of the climb. Lots of breaks to rest the blown arms a bit, sit back in the harness, have a chat and a great opportunity to take lots of pics. Near the top we had a small snack break with a beautiful view across the sea and fjords around us. Then finished the climb and hiked back down. Actually, the hike was trickier than the climb due to lots and lots of snow on the stairs, which also have a great story of how they were made. But you'd have to ask him about it when you visit ;)
Rosa K — Google review
Very fun and challenging Via Ferrata. We did the more difficult route called Silver Route or something. I would say prior rock climbing experience is crucial (!!) as trail goes virtually up the side of a cliff and requires knowing how to position your body while reclipping the carabiners. The guide was very helpful and for the difficult part with the overhangs there was an optional rope for assistance whereby the guide could pull you is essentially. Overall a hard but the distance of cloning is actually short.

If you're looking for an unforgettable adventure in Norway, the Stella Polaris tour is a fantastic choice! The intimate experience on a smaller RIB boat allowed us to explore the stunning Saltstraumen with ease, and our knowledgeable guide made every moment memorable. We zipped through breathtaking landscapes and even spotted some majestic sea eagles along the way.
Whilst cruising into Bodø with Fred Olsen, booked the Sea Eagle Safari with these guys What an awesome and surreal experience, zipping along the Arctic waters on a RIB, looking for eagles Guides were fantastic, and I got some great pics. Wrap up warm, be prepared to don your survival suit and lifejacket, and enjoy the awesome experience.... a must do if you're in Bodø

I went on their guided city walk "Footsteps Through Bodø: Where Arctic Stories Come Alive" led by Alex. Their description specifically says "we don't go to churches, museums or town halls" which was fine with me. I wanted to learn about the history (from inception through Cold War), industry and local life which Alex definitely provided. He was a fascinating guide and there was no question he couldn't answer; we walked a lot and I feel like I got a unique perspective on this city. Lots of info about the fishing industry, Cold War activities, building of the city (e.g. train station and road through the shopping center) and much more. I highly recommend this tour!

We booked the Stella Polaris tour on the spur of the moment while in port on a cruise ship. We had such a great guide who made the experience of seeing the Saltstraumen amazing! The RIB boat was smaller than the large one used by the cruise ship excursions so our trip was much more intimate besides taking less time to get everyone dressed to go on the RIB boat. We got just wet enough to make it fun! Their office was an easy 5 minute walk from where our cruise ship docked. I would definitely do this tour again when in Bodo!

With its modern facilities and dedicated faculty, Bodin fosters an environment that encourages both personal growth and professional development.
The Tiger I (German: [ˈtiːɡɐ] ⓘ) was a German heavy tank of World War II that began operational duty in 1942 in Africa and in the Soviet Union, usually in independent heavy tank battalions. It gave the German Army its first armoured fighting vehicle that mounted the 8.8 cm (3.5 in) KwK 36 gun (derived from the 8.8 cm Flak 36, the famous "eighty-eight" feared by Allied troops). 1,347 were built between August 1942 and August 1944.[12] After August 1944, production of the Tiger I was phased out in favour of the Tiger II. While the Tiger I has been called an outstanding design for its time,[13] it has also been called overengineered,[14] using expensive materials and labour-intensive production methods. In the early period, the Tiger was prone to certain types of track failures and breakdowns. It was expensive to maintain, but generally mechanically reliable.[15] It was difficult to transport and vulnerable to immobilisation when mud, ice, and snow froze between its overlapping and interleaved Schachtellaufwerk-pattern road wheels, often jamming them solid. The tank was given its nickname "Tiger" by the ministry for armament and ammunition by 7 August 1941,[16] and the Roman numeral was added after the Tiger II entered production. It was classified with ordnance inventory designation Sd.Kfz. 182. The tank was later re-designated as Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausführung E (abbreviated as Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. E) in March 1943, with ordnance inventory designation Sd.Kfz. 181. Today, only nine Tiger I tanks survive in museums and private collections worldwide. As of 2021, Tiger 131 (captured during the North African campaign) at the UK's Tank Museum is the only example restored to running order.

Immerse yourself in the colorful world of Bodo Street Murals, an outdoor art gallery that beautifully captures the essence of Bodo, Norway. This collection of street art showcases local culture and creativity, making it a delightful experience for visitors. While some may find it challenging to locate all the murals due to their scattered nature—often just 150 meters apart—the effort is well worth it. Each mural tells its own story and adds a unique charm to the cityscape.
A must-see! I'm an artist, and this was such a perfect little highlight during my stay in Bodø! Most are close together - one epic mural is around the back of the local school, but it is definitely worth the walk! So many hidden gems 💎 ✨️

Must see in Bodø for anyone passing by. Might be tricky to find them all but the art is really nice and interesting.

(Translated by Google) Street art has found its rightful place in Bodo! Among others, you will find the beautiful mural “Insomnia” by Millo (Francesco Camillo Giorgino), an internationally renowned Italian artist; “After School” by Russian artist Rustam Qbic, which depicts a child returning from school, intent on dyeing the Northern Lights with a spray can; “Trollet på Dama Di”, by IPhlegm, the author who created this work with an unpronounceable name, is a world-famous British cartoonist and illustrator.

(Translated by Google) The murals are beautiful, but the most beautiful and famous ones were torn down for the construction of new buildings, after going crazy looking for them we went to ask the tourist information office who confirmed that at least 2 murals no longer existed, they couldn't tell us which ones, but we guessed them, since they were the ones that were missing: "kiss between cultures" and the eagle. Many "minor" murals are hidden behind garbage cans (Original) Belli i murales, ma i più belli e famosi sono stati buttati giù per la costruzione di nuovi palazzi, dopo essere impazziti a cercarli siamo ancdati a chiedere all’ufficio informazioni turistiche che ci ha confermato che almeno 2 murales non esistevano più, non sapevano indicarci quali, ma li abbiamo intuito, visto che erano quelli che mancavano: “bacio tra culture” e quello dell’acquila. Molti murales “minori” sono nascosti dietro pattumiere

(Translated by Google) Graffiti is scattered throughout the city center, enhancing your stroll. Sometimes you even have to venture into backyards to discover a work of art or two. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a useful map that would lead us to all the works, but it was all the more wonderful to discover them by chance.
