The Nebraska State Capitol, completed in 1932, is a stunning architectural marvel located in the heart of Lincoln. Designed by renowned architect Bertram Goodhue, it stands out with its Art Deco style and brilliant white facade. The building features a 400-ft. domed limestone tower and captivating courtyards. Inside, visitors can explore the Great Hall, legislative rooms, and grand vestibule adorned with works by Kenneth Evett and murals depicting Indian history.
What a beautiful, well manicured place. We walked around and enjoyed the day walking our fur baby. We enjoyed seeing the Governor's house that was very nice as well. The Capital was a very beautiful building. Enjoy the pictures. There is a statue of Abraham Lincoln. I am so happy to see that!!
Sylvia V — Google review
One of the coolest capitols we have been in. We unfortunately did not get to do the tour, however there is a lot of mosaic art on the floors, walls, and ceiling. There are also statues, and hallways where you can look out into the courtyard. I recommend picking up the templates at the least to learn some of the history and meaning behind the mosaics, but a tour would be best. The tours are free, and they happen just about every hour, however I recommend checking the schedule that is at the front desk. Also, the bathrooms are clean.
Sadie K — Google review
One of the coolest capitals I’ve ever been to. I took a walk around the grounds early in the morning. It was right after a thunderstorm the night before, as you can see in one of my picture we got to meet the governor‘s cat. Well, it must be the governor’s cat. It was pretty well fed. It needed a little company because of the thunderstorm hours before and it was a wonderful morning we came back later in the day and walked the steps to top little bit disappointed because I may never returned Lincoln, Nebraska and the observation balcony was closed but really enjoyed looking around the inside of the building tile work was beautiful

The Nebraska State Capitol stands as a commanding presence in Lincoln, a striking design featuring peaceful courtyards and stunning mosaics on both the floors and ceilings. Be sure to see the grand Native American design on the Senate doors, and take in the castle-like feel of the interior. The gift shop is excellent too, with a great selection to wrap up your visit.

Entrance : free Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln, designed by architect Bertram Goodhue, which took approximately 10 years to build, construction began in 1922 and was completed in 1932 this iconic building stands tall at 400 feet, making it the tallest state capitol in the USA. With its stunning Art Deco architecture and intricate murals, it’s a true gem of Nebraska’s heritage. If your around the area then it’s a must visit spot.
Sonia B — Google review
Easily the most beautiful building in the state of Nebraska. The Capitol is a gigantic tower with huge sweeping halls with ornately decorated walls and floors.
Matt B — Google review
A must see if you're visiting Lincoln Nebraska! The 14th floor provides close to 360 degree views of the surrounding areas and the building has beautiful engravings and murals throughout. Staff is friendly and guided tours are available. Lots of on-street available parking just a few blocks away and several of the meters accept coins--just $2 for a few hours of parking. The photos I posted include one of the Governor's office and a few of the legislature, which was in session during our visit.
Howard S — Google review
As someone who is intimately familiar with this building I would say there is a lot to see and enjoy. It is not a place to go “party” or really hang out all that much. It is a nice quiet building with a nice little tour. You have the freedom to walk just about anywhere in the building. The main purpose is to conduct Government business firstly and secondly to act as a historical monument of education to the people that the government does business on behalf of. I would say if you’re looking for a massive tourist hub of activity that is not what this place is. But if you are looking for a cool building with lots of artwork and historical facts and history and to learn more about the Nebraska state government you found your place. I would say the most under utilized part of the building is the outside 2nd floor balcony. It’s a beautiful 360 view of the surrounding downtown area. It is obviously not as high up as the 14th floor view but it’s a beautiful open terrace like area to enjoy both the building and outside. The 2nd Most under utilized section would be the 4 gardens on the interior. Each garden section has a beautiful different colored water fountain, and benches. These are designed to allow a breeze to blow down into them most of the time and standing close to the fountain is usually a cooler temp as the moving water acts like a swamp cooler. The wonderfully black and white checkered pathways add a nostalgic tinge of beauty to walking in the space. These are good places to just sit with your thoughts, be alone, or otherwise find some peace for a bit. The only reason I don’t give this place 5 stars is because it does feel like there are amenities missing in comparison to other state capitols. The information desk on the 1st floor isn’t always staffed and if you don’t come in the main front entrance it isn’t obvious where the tourist office is. And the cafeteria is nothing to write home about. But the newly opened gift shop is wonderful. Also it is a great substitute if you are visiting but the city center tourist office is closed the capitol staff have some great recommendations and advice for visitors.

This was a pretty great art museum, especially considering that admission is free. There wasn't a large amount of exhibits, but a few of them that some really interesting and great works of art. I especially enjoyed the surrealism works they had on display. The inside of the building is beautiful as well. It wasn't busy at all when I went on a Saturday.

Great visit. A great mix of types of art and artists. A very nice reception lady who is graduating with an Art Degree. She has some great pics of her art. It should be displayed at the Sheldon Museum. Best Bathroom I have ever been in. Pics below.

Absolutely lovely museum. Spent half a day there on Sunday on the Nebraska U campus. Nicely themed exhibition rooms that are a mix of lesser-known and well-known Ed artists. Free to enter! Touching painting and description on the attached pictures I posted.

The first time here, I brought my grandson with me. It was very nice, lots of different artists and different ways of doing things. There was a lot I liked and some I didn't understand. The same went for my grandson. They had 4 galleries open, and 2 of the galleries were pretty big with different rooms. It is free admission. There is also artwork outside of Sheldon Gallery and throughout UNL campus and east campus.
Jerry D — Google review
Beautiful little free museum! They had a really nice selection of art on display and the staff were very friendly and attentive! Make sure to check out the sculpture garden out back as it is very interesting and full of a lot of unique art. Separate from the art, the building itself is beautiful and is a piece of art within itself!

The Sheldon is always a great place to see. The last time we went though, we were almost denied entry with my partner’s seeing eye dog. They did let us in, and we did explain to them that vests were not required for service dogs. You would think the harness would have given it away.

The Memorial Stadium is the home field of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, accommodating over 85,000 football enthusiasts since its establishment in 1922. This amazing stadium is renowned for its boisterous and loyal Husker fans who make it an unparalleled experience on game day. The ambience inside the stadium is electrifying with vendors serving delectable food to satiate hunger pangs once inside. It is a bustling place where all kinds of fans are welcomed by high-fiving Husker supporters.
I am A Husker fan for life, So, I'm A little biased. ButIts just Awsome! However, So every other BIG School knows, it's Easier for A Husker fan to get tickets to watch our team At Your Stadiums than it is to see them at home! Make of that what you will?🤷‍♂️

We were in town for work at the University. We went to our first college football game here. It was incredible!! The stadium is fantastic and the energy is high!! Longish lines for concession. It's steap to walk up to the seats but worth it. Our seats were higher up. Definitely rent the seat backs! Not a lot of room to sit but this really helps!
Cory A — Google review
Graduated from UNL back in 2000, a hopelessly confused Malaysian student who arrived thinking “football” was soccer.. you know, the one with feet. Instead, I found a sport where 300-pound men wear armor and charge like angry rhinoceroses, and somehow, I fell in love. We don’t even have American football back home, but the Huskers spirit got under my skin faster than a Midwestern sunburn. During Tom Osborne’s era, Nebraska didn’t just win.. we colonized scoreboards and turned victory into an art form. Memorial Stadium home to the Huskers, born in 1923 with 31,000 civilized spectators, now packs over 85,000 screaming souls every game day. On Saturdays, it becomes Nebraska’s third-largest city powered by adrenaline, chili dogs, and sheer denial.. where grown men cry, strangers hug, and cholesterol takes a holiday. And when the legendary Tunnel Walk started, the music hit, the crowd erupted, and I swear the earth’s rotation hesitated. Goosebumps? More like a full-body reboot. Once a Husker, always a Husker, it’s not a fandom, it’s a lifelong condition with symptoms like yelling “Go Big Red!” at random intervals. Came back in 2019 to watch a game. Why? All the way from Malaysia? Of course. Some people return home to find themselves, I returned to Lincoln to scream at padded men from the nosebleed seats and call it spiritual healing. Totally worth the 20 hours of recycled airplane air. Proud to share alumni roots with Warren Buffett (who could buy the NCAA), Gabrielle Union (who glows brighter than the Jumbotron), Johnny Carson (who’d roast any referee into early retirement), and Marlon Brando (who attended, rebelled, got expelled, and probably still haunts the campus's Union). I may have come from a country that thinks “football” is played with feet, but in Lincoln, I learned it’s played with heart, helmets, and the occasional mild concussion. Go BIG RED!!! #throwback2019 #gobigred #huskers #UNL

We loved doing the self guided Memorial Stadium peek & Tom Osborne center/NE Football Hall of Fame exhibit. The staff was all kind & helpful, facilities were clean & inviting, we loved showing our family (from out of town) some of our Lincoln staples!

This is a great ballpark. Smaller than many but there really are no bad seats here. Ticket prices were reasonable, food was reasonably priced but lines for concessions were very long. Best of all? The Kansas City fans are very kind and polite.

There's no place like Memorial Stadium on a game day. Loved walking around taking in the atmosphere before the game.

MEMORIAL STADIUM, Lincoln Nebraska. Here is why Memorial Stadium attracts so much attention: Electric game-day atmosphere: Reviewers frequently praise the "electric" and "unparalleled" atmosphere created by the loyal Husker fanbase, known as the "Sea of Red". For many, attending a football game is a quintessential Lincoln experience. Historic and traditional significance: As a century-old landmark in college football, Memorial Stadium is more than just a venue; it is a point of state pride and tradition. Massive capacity: The stadium holds over 85,000 fans, ensuring that home games are major events that draw crowds larger than the population of many Nebraska cities. Go Big Red!

This massive museum boasts an impressive selection of cars from different eras and trends, spanning across three floors. It's a must-visit destination for car enthusiasts who can spend hours exploring the impressive displays showcasing the evolution of this iconic American industry throughout time.
Amazing museum especially for a car enthusiast! Three floors and a great low price for admission. All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable waiting to answer any questions. Something for everyone to see from cars, engines, antique lunch boxes, peddle cars and so much more!

Spent the better part of a day trying to see all 3 floors. Unfortunately they close at 1 on Saturdays so we had to go but we spent 4 hours wondering around this incredible spot. Definitely check it out if you're in the area! "America is all about speed, hot nasty bad-ass speed” - Ricky Bobby

What an amazing place!! You will be completely surprised by the collection this museum has on display. They have an amazing Unser family collection. How wonderful they have developed a relationship with the family so they can tell their history here. I highly suggest doing the guided tour. There is so much to see, the tour will keep you moving and you get so much history and see the highlights. We had the best tour guide in Duane! How someone can have so much knowledge kept in his head is incredible! He has so many good stories and has been involved in some of the displays, so he really knew his stuff, and all the history that went into it. And you have to go upstairs to the Peddle cars!! They have 100s in their collection! Cars, bikes, boats, airplanes, tractors - they have them all!! It's incredible! They have an extensive collection of motors on display, and a few old garages put together which is cool. And they have original barn stalls on display from the Indianapolis Speedway where they would park the race cars before the race. I could go on and on but you need to go see it for yourself! You will not be disappointed!

I went on a Saturday. The place is amazing!!! If you’re interested in any form of internal combustion, this museum is a must see. Three floors of history all organized by interest. Go early because they close at 1 pm, and time will fly by just making your way through the first floor.

What an amazing place this is. I spent 3 hrs their. They have the Unser family history here, too. There is a vault for the Unsers' most valuable stuff. All 45 cars they have. Old lunch boxes and guitars on the ceiling. There are 3 floors to see. I took 1010 pics and videos there. If you have not been here, I highly recommend it. There is a gift shop.
Jerry D — Google review
The Museum of American Speed in Lincoln is one of the most impressive museums I’ve ever visited, and it’s truly a hidden gem for anyone traveling through Nebraska. The size of the collection alone is incredible — three floors packed with history, innovation, and passion for automobiles and racing. Founded by “Speedy” Bill and Joyce Smith back in the early 1990s, the museum has grown into a massive 150,000-square-foot facility that celebrates the spirit of speed in every possible way. Walking through the exhibits feels like stepping into a living timeline of American racing culture. There are classic hot rods, Indy cars, sprint cars, dragsters, and midget racers — each one with its own story and connection to the past. The engines are just as fascinating: rare Offenhausers, Millers, and countless other legendary powerplants that shaped the history of motorsports. It’s not just about the big names either — you also see one-of-a-kind prototypes, concept cars, motorcycles, and even artifacts like helmets, trophies, racing suits, and old advertisements that bring the whole era back to life. What impressed me most was the way everything is presented. The displays are clean, well-lit, and organized so you can get up close and really study the details. You don’t just look at the cars, you feel the history and the innovation behind them. There are also interactive parts and educational touches that make it enjoyable even if you’re not a hardcore car fan. Families with kids will find plenty to explore, while enthusiasts could easily spend the whole day diving into the details. Another highlight is the atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, and you can tell they care deeply about the museum and its mission. Their enthusiasm makes the experience even more enjoyable, because you don’t just see the cars — you learn the stories behind them. Overall, visiting the Museum of American Speed was a fantastic experience. It’s more than just a car collection — it’s a celebration of American ingenuity, creativity, and the culture of speed that shaped an entire industry. Whether you’re a car enthusiast, a history buff, or just someone curious about American culture, this museum is absolutely worth your time. If you’re ever in Lincoln, don’t miss it. This place is unique, unforgettable, and truly world-class. I highly recommend it to everyone!

The Museum of American Speed is an absolute must-visit! There’s so much to see—unique displays, incredible cars, engines, and memorabilia that you won’t find anywhere else. Every corner had something new to catch our attention, and it was fun for the whole family. The exhibits are well put together, easy to explore, and truly showcase the history and passion behind American speed. We spent around 3 hours here and it was our second time visiting. You could also do it in less time if you didn't have 3 hours. Definitely worth the trip!

The International Quilt Museum, established in 1997, is a modern and spacious museum that features various quilts and exhibits. The three floors of the museum showcase numerous quilts from different eras such as the 1800s, 1900s and contemporary times. The building itself is also beautiful and there is ample free parking available for visitors including RVs. In addition to the quilt displays, the gift shop has a wide selection of unique items available for purchase.
Excellent and informative local Nebraska attraction! Well informed docents! Beautiful fixed and rotating fiber arts exhibits! So many beautiful quilts! A great library of quilt related books on upper floor! A definite destination for anyone into sewing or quilting or in any way interested in the fiber arts! Everything is beautifully presented and clean like a national art gallery! They even do restorations on historical quilts. Great gift shop!

Hosts several galleries showcasing quilts from around the world, including more modern artistic display pieces alongside traditional restored pieces. This institution serves to curate an important and artistic aspect of our history. Easily accessible location and very friendly staff. The top floor holds a kid-friendly room with interactive displays on quilt making and it's history. A fantastic place to spend 1-2 hours!
Matthew N — Google review
The staff are all very nice and helpful. We were just a bit disappointed to find that there are not many quilts on display. The majority are put in storage and they rotate out their collections. I understand the reason behind this so that they can better preserve their valuable collection. Also, one of their rooms was being redone and was closed, so we did not get to see very many quilts. The ones that we did see were nice, though.
J. C — Google review
Mesmerizing, Enchanting, Historic, Dazzling, Beautiful. If you are into quilts, you will love this. If you are not into quilts this will blow you away. If the only thing this place has was the beautiful art, it would be worth it. When you look closely, you'll see the incredible craftsmanship that goes into this art on a scale of "how is this even possible". In addition there is a great history lesson.
Daniel R — Google review
There are 3 floors of this truly unique collection of quilts. It was very impressive as well as the beautiful building that houses the collection.
Kelly W — Google review
I was blown away at the amount and the detail and the creativity of the quilts that I saw in this building. I've traveled a few places and even went to quilt museums in towns that are proud of their quilt makings. This one was the largest so far. I highly recommend you take the time and enjoy the cool air and see the creativity. They have a gift shop. If you think to complain about a $10 admission fee then quilts are not for you. If you've never seen creative quilts up close in large amounts, I highly recommend so you can appreciate the craft. Some are done completely by hand and even the ones that are done by machine only are stunning! They took my breath away! Amazing!
C — Google review
As full time travelers, we have been to many museums across the western US and really enjoyed this one - do your homework before going as you will not see 3,500 quilts but a small and awesome collection. Will take two hours if you read all the placards and examine the displays. Nice building and excellent presentation. If you appreciate art, this is a must stop.

Established in 1871, it boasts an extensive collection of elephant fossils, minerals, meteorites, African and Native American artifacts, dinosaurs, and ancient weaponry. The University of Nebraska State Museum - Morrill Hall is a treasure trove of natural history. Known as “Elephant Hall,” it features an impressive collection of fossilized mammoths and other prehistoric wonders. Interactive exhibits, such as the planetarium and hands-on science displays, make it educational and fun for all ages. A visit here is a fantastic journey through Nebraska’s rich natural and cultural heritage!

From glyptodonts to gompotheres this museum is an amazing collection of fossils and exhibits highlighting the present and past of Nebraska. The Hall of Elephants is an absolute must, with an evolutionary history of the elephants of Nebraska. Another must see is the newly renovated fourth floor exhibits. Specimen drawers and stunning displays of the natural history of Nebraska inspire wonder and curiosity. Great for kids big and small!!

Had some time while attending a conference and stopped in to this museum. It is a pretty large museum for being a university natural history museum. There's a really great selection of exhibits and I found it really interesting, even as someone unfamiliar with what animals are native to Nebraska. I gained a really great understanding of Nebraska. The museum has done a good job being interactive without being too focused on children. Kids would really enjoy this museum but adults will too! There is a planetarium however I did not do this.
Spencer O — Google review
This is an excellent museum. I've been going here since I was in elementary school. It has such a unique combination of old and modern. There are murals from around 1995 by paleoartist Mark E. Marcuson. There used to be a life sized replica of an Allosaurus with a dragging tail. This was definitely from an era long past. I don't know what happened to it, but a small maquette still exists. I wish there was information about the artist who made it. There is unique "antique" technology in the Mesozoic Gallery if you look closely. I hope they keep it around a bit longer! On the third and fourth floors everything is very up to date and ultra modern (aside from the Stegosaurus and Allosaurus replica fossils which are very outdated in the old tail dragging poses). Plenty of touch screens, interactive displays, bright artwork, up to date information. Very accessible. I hope the museum will continue to grow and flourish for the next 30 years!

Morrill Hall was an amazing experience! As adults, we took our out of town family to this museum & we LOVED it! We didn’t even get to go through it all because there was so much to see & we had a time limit because of previous engagements. In the end, there are so many exhibits to see, the staff members were very kind & helpful, & the facility was incredibly clean! To top it all off, there was a basket with free to use, tampons, pads, & small paper bags for sanitary products. This means a lot to me, as a female, this shows the level of quality these staff members show. Thank you Morrill Hall!

I was going to a show later on and was in town early, so I was on Google trying to find something to do. I was not disappointed in my decision to go to the museum. It's was so informative on just about everything that we looked at. I was really surprised how they had everything set up for the kids to learn. Very hands-on with touch screens and microscopes to zoom in and look at the details up close. I hope that next time I visit, they have the 3rd floor finished so I can check that out. When in the museum, make sure you look for Archie.

The Historic Haymarket District in Lincoln is a charming and vibrant neighborhood filled with historic buildings, lively nightlife, delicious restaurants, and unique local shops. It's a dog-friendly area that offers something for everyone. Visitors can enjoy exploring the artsy atmosphere, dining at favorite restaurants, and indulging in tasty desserts. The district also features a beautiful mural of a train, a restored train engine and caboose, as well as an old depot alongside various shops and eateries.
We had an hour to kill between checking out of the hotel and heading over to the Capitol building for a tour (which I highly recommend ~ it's such a beautiful building and the tour guide was awesome), so we stopped at this lovely little spot to spend some time. I'm so glad we did. It doesn't take long to see, but what we did see was very intriguing. And if you're hungry and/or want to do a little shopping, it looks as if there are some very nice places around to do both.

It was clean, nice, and lots of different shops and places to eat. There are a couple of murals, statues, and mosaics. Plenty of public restrooms, trash cans, and dog poop bags. Everything is in walking distance. There are maps at the visitor center that show where everything is, and some street corners had maps as well. It is right there at the Nebraska Stadium.

Went to the farmers market and it had a great selection of anything you could think of. All the downtown store were open too! Has a park for kids to play at and dogs are welcomed. Historical buildings everywhere and all types of restaurants and food to try. It won't disappoint you!

The Great Plains Art Museum is a cultural center dedicated to the history of the Great Plains. Located on the University of Nebraska Campus, it offers free admission to both students and tourists. The museum houses a remarkable collection of over 8,200 artworks from various mediums, particularly those originating in the American West. It provides an endless source of inspiration for art enthusiasts interested in exploring the culture and natural environment of the Great Plains region.
My family and I stopped by during a day trip to Lincoln this past summer and enjoyed ourselves visiting the galleries telling the stories of our part of the country. We enjoyed the exhibit showcasing women artists capturing the Great Plains from their viewpoint and experiences. They have a great collection and the gallery docents are very helpful and knowledgable. Make sure you plan a visit when in Lincoln!

This was smaller than I imagined, but it was very interesting and well laid out. My favorite part was the pottery. It's free to walk thru. It was well worth my 45 mins going thru it. There are some pretty amazing looking pieces they have their.

What a gem of a gallery! I'd never been there before and was so impressed by the artwork displayed! Two prairie chickens made entirely of cut pieces of paper and amazing paintings & poems in the basement (Art & Poetry of the Barada Hills) we're my favorites! Worth going!

It used to be the BEST!! Till all the wonderful artifacts and set ups were taken and stored away to rot. This is a joke. Pictures rather than actual items. You should be ashamed. Such a disappointment. It really was the best before you people who are in charge now destroyed it.

A website tour would be the exact same, it’s photos of actual stuff. Museums have stuff, this is a photo gallery. Go see Robbers Cave, that shows physical tactile things of interest and interaction with a person. Magazines are more entertaining than this ‘photographic art’ display

Located in downtown, I was surprised to see that there were no reviews. So I figured I would pop in and see why. And to tell you, I don't know why. This is a small but interesting art collection and is well worth at least an hour of art appreciation. Some excellent American artists on display here including Frederic Remington (I've seen his sculptures in many places, including Bismarck and Salt Lake City), John Falter, Albert Bierstadt and Edwin Deming. The display of stereoscopes was super cool and having a device there to actually look through was awesome.

I LOVE the Great Plains Art Museum! They always have amazing shows up, with their impressive library just up the stairs. Not to mention they’re right downtown, just across from the bus stop, and are only a quick jaunt to the Haymarket. Highly recommend!!

We attended a special symposium last week "Epic Neihardt". The staff was welcoming and helpful. The Art Museum is lovely and easy to navigate. The layout (bathroom in the basement level) worked well for this event. Take a tour on your lunch break if you work downtown or on campus. Some great visual art (Sculpture) greets you upon arrival the entrance is on the east side of Hewit Place. Spend some time here and get to know The Great Plains!

The park offers 8 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking, ponds, visitors centers with exhibits and live animals, herb gardens, and educational programs for all ages.
Really love the bike paths here. Great park but really to many people utilize it. Over crowded at time.

I barely scratched the surface here, focusing only on the two nature centers and adjacent areas. It was a beautiful, easy 2.5 mile walk through a nice diversity of forest, wetland, and grassland habitats and several historic structures along the way. The trails and property are well-maintained, yet those managing it are respectful of habitats and don’t mow everything to look pristine. The nature centers had a bunch of stuffed critters on display and only a few live animals, which I think is a good thing.

Took my grandson here and around the park on the trails so he could ride his scooter. He enjoyed the nature center with the stuffed wildlife and the live snakes and turtles. Wasn't too busy either. There are restrooms over by the playground. They need to put a shade over the play sets to keep them from getting hot.

One of my favorite nature centers/preserves I've been too. Just fantastic staff to talk to and wonderful gardens and trails. Bring a nice camera, I couldn't get all the species of new birds I saw/heard because all I had was my phone.

This is a beautiful place to take your family. You can go and watch the geese/ducks at the pond. Take your kids to go play at the playground. Go back by the Nature Center and go watch the buffaloes graze or you can go for a nature walk on the trails or the tall grass at the top of the hill. It's entirely up to you but it's a beautiful place

Very peaceful and beautiful park! Well kept trails and picnic areas! Definitely worth it! I will be back to check in on the buffalo who are living their best life! Yaaaassss!

I love Pioneer Park Nature Center! Not only do they have bison, but there are paths through either forest or prairie indigenous wildflowers. My granddaughter loves it. My wife and I love it. While walking around a pond last week, we said, all those sticks cannot ALL be the heads of bullfrogs! They were, and we have a great splashing and hopping about video for our three-year-old grandchild. She went last time and saw all the bison. I have to take her back soon, for the frogs. The sunflowers, milkweed seed pods and turtles were also a big hit. It’s such a wonderful asset, saving a beautiful hunk of wildflowers is a great gift to the next generation of hikers and fans of the outdoor life!

Nestled in the heart of Lincoln, the Nebraska History Museum is a treasure trove for anyone eager to delve into the rich tapestry of regional history. This esteemed institution showcases an impressive array of cultural artifacts and historical exhibits that span over 12,000 years. With more than 125,000 items in its collection—including photographs, manuscripts, and documents—the museum offers a comprehensive look at the diverse narratives that have shaped Nebraska.
There is a lot to see here. There are 3 floors to browse around in. On the 3rd floor, it is mostly where the kids can play. I spent about 2 hrs just on the first 2 floors. And there is a little bit of a wide range from prehistoric to now. It is a very interesting place.
Jerry D — Google review
The Nebraska History Museum is a pretty good museum on the history of the state of Nebraska. For only $5 admission it is definitely worth it to check out. There are three floors, but the third floor was just kids yard games. There were a few exhibits blocked off throughout the museum, so maybe it has more exhibits normally.
B A — Google review
Although the museum is small, at least admission was cheap (free with student I.D.). However, exhibits relating to actual Nebraska history was lacking and I've been to other state history museums in other states that are better and more relevant to that state's history and the museum felt incomplete. Nebraska can do better than that by providing more exhibits relating to actual Nebraska history instead of just empty spaces not being used or simply an indoor playground for kids. At least the museum only took about an half hour to go through which makes this an option for people who are time-strapped.
Travis T — Google review
Didn't have enough time to really take it all in and didn't make it to the third floor. Their exhibitions about the ancient first people is very interesting. Love the huge map of Nebraska at the ground floor. So cool being able to walk the state and see all the towns and rivers from a birds eye view.

The rating is based on museum website which is in need of parking info or directing visitor to City of Lincoln parking page. Gave up trying to find parking after trying to enter reserved parking deck by accident. Only discovered parking info on the internet after arriving back at the hotel.

At one time, this was a fantastic museum with artifacts and dioramas. It at one time had a fantastic native American are, with a longhouse. There was even a sod house as well as items from our American history. It is a shell of what it was. Very few items and a lot of waisted space. I would not recommend this museum.

The National Museum of Roller Skating, located in southern Lincoln, is a unique and comprehensive exhibition dedicated to the history of roller skating. It boasts the world's largest collection of historical roller skates, along with costumes, memorabilia, and various types of skates from different eras. The museum features photo exhibits, sculptures, artworks, and almanacs related to the world of skating. Visitors can also explore a gift shop offering popular skating periodicals and merchandise.
This museum was on my bucket list to visit, and we happened to be driving close to it while traveling to Colorado. I am happy we stopped. It's a smaller free museum, they have quite a few displays and some items for sale. Lots of displays showing the history of skating... Very fun, I recommend a stop, it's worth a visit.

We went back and forth through Lincoln several times, always with the intent to stop at the museum! So glad we finally did! It's a smaller museum but absolutely packed with the history of roller skating from the earliest skates of the 1800's to the modern skates of the roller skating resurgence! We learned about the evolution of roller skates, the fads of roller skating and the passion of those who compete on roller skates. Dancing, speed skating, sports and recreation, roller skates are a part of history and definitely here to stay! Visiting the museum is free so be sure to make a donation in the bin provided to keep this small bit of history open to the public!

In town for a visit. Never came to see this place when we lived here but I made sure to visit this time. Very cool place! I love the history and the displays! I play roller derby with Circle City Roller Derby out of Indianapolis, IN. Was very surprised to see a advertisement card for Derby Lite that used to be offered ( I have the same magnet on my fridge at home!) and a jacket pin from Naptown Roller Derby also out of Indy. When I get home, I'll send something of ours for the roller derby display! Thanks for a great experience!!

The Lied Center for Performing Arts is a venue in Lincoln, Nebraska that features multiple theaters with programs focused on symphony, dance, Broadway and music. The facility has ample space to accommodate large crowds and offers easy parking with nearby dining options. The staff are friendly and helpful in directing visitors to their seats which are comfortable. The stage provides many options for performers with great acoustics making it an ideal location for concerts and other performances.
Wow, what an amazing place. We loved how the seat placement was designed. Each row has comfy padded seats and were positioned in a way that someone who is height challenged can see without struggle. One thing was one of the exits was a small standard size staircase that did cause a bottle neck but still was able to exit ahead of the mass. Highly recommend this theater to see any type of event.

I have seen a few productions at the Lied, and I’ve seen productions at other venues in the Metro area. I will say that hands down, the Lied is the very best for general comfort and view of the stage. I’ve never had a performance marred by someone sitting in front of me and I can’t see over their head. The seating is such that no matter where you sit, you will have a good view. Staff is over the top friendly and helpful, even directing traffic in the restroom during intermission so that everyone is in and out smoothly! Five stars from me.

My mom who uses a wheel chair and I attended last nights performance, of Marilyn Maye. We arrived 20 minutes before the show. Seating was quite tight and hard to locate accessible seats for us. But the usher Seth worked extra hard, to find us seats to sit together, as we had planned. This was not an easy task right before show time. I appreciate all the time and extra effort Seth took, finding us the seats we paid for. Seth was very genuine and remained calm, assuring us, he would do his best, to see we were taken care of. Seth the usher, is to be commended at coming through, to see our night went just like we had planned. The show was stellar quality as the Lied always delivers. Thanks, for all you continue to do, for the Lincoln community. Mark Welch

University
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln, also known as Nebraska, UNL, or NU, is a renowned public research university located in Lincoln, Nebraska. Established in 1869 as the state's oldest university and flagship institution of the University of Nebraska system, it offers top-notch arts and science programs along with a prominent football team. The campus features impressive red-brick buildings and Victorian-style lecture halls set amidst cherry tree groves and winding walkways that create a vibrant atmosphere during term time.
It's a great University in Nebraska where you will find all nationalities represented. I liked the programs they have for new students where they make sure that you get used to living on campus while getting to know your fellow students. The quality of education if awesome and most of the teachers are very supportive. When you attend UNL, always go to Husker Hub to ask for help if you need anything and don't feel like you don't have any option. They have an answer for any question you might have.
Benjamin N — Google review
UNL’s Accounting Office and Unnecessary Student Fees etc I am disappointed with the accounting office at UNL and the way the university prioritizes business and money-making over learning and student support. Every service seems to come with an extra cost. For example, the school charges a fee for issuing a student ID, which seems unnecessary for a first-time issue. When I emailed the business office about the charges on my account, they simply sent me a link saying they charge for even the first ID. However, when I replied with a screenshot of what I had found when looking up information on issuing an ID—which indicated that it is free—they never responded again. Parking is another issue. The university charges more per hour for parking in its garages than the city does for public parking. It’s frustrating that students are expected to pay so much just to access their own campus. Beyond finances, the overall atmosphere of the university does not feel like a place of learning and support. When I had questions about prerequisites in the past about becoming a special education teacher, I either didn’t receive a response and had to email again or was sent from one person to another Another major frustration has been trying to get my 1098-T form for my yearly taxes. While I got part of it, the university did not include or communicate the costs of the study abroad program I did through them, and I’ve been trying to hunt down this information myself. It’s now mid-March. What makes this even more frustrating is that I never experienced these kinds of issues while taking classes or earning a degree elsewhere. Unfortunately, I feel limited here in Nebraska, and at SCC (Southeast Community College) we can only take a limited number of classes. This leaves me stuck dealing with UNL’s bureaucracy and unnecessary costs.

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln (Nebraska, UNL, or NU) is a public land-grant research university in Lincoln, Nebraska. It is the state's oldest university and the flagship institution of the University of Nebraska system. The state legislature chartered the university in 1869 as a land-grant university under the 1862 Morrill Act, two years after Nebraska became a state. At the turn of the 20th century, the university expanded significantly, hiring professors from eastern schools to teach its new professional programs and conducting groundbreaking research in agricultural sciences. The "Nebraska method" of ecological study developed during this time pioneered grassland ecology and laid the foundation for research in theoretical ecology for the rest of the century. The university is organized into eight colleges on two campuses in Lincoln with over 100 classroom buildings and research facilities. It is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity". According to the National Science Foundation, Nebraska spent $308 million on research and development in 2018, ranking it 78th in the nation. Nebraska's athletic programs, known as the Cornhuskers, compete in NCAA Division I and are a member of the Big Ten Conference. NU's football team has won 46 conference championships and claims five national championships, with an additional nine unclaimed. The school's volleyball team has won five titles and appeared in the national semifinal nine other times. NU plays its home football games at Memorial Stadium and has sold out every game since 1962. The stadium's capacity of 91,585 people is famously larger than the population of Nebraska's third-largest city.

Went here for a wedding reception. It is a beautiful venue and very well run. At the beginning the line at the bar was ridiculously long but the three bartenders moved the line amazingly fast. Very professionally run. I wish I had taken pictures because words can't possibly do it justice. This really is a beautiful venue.

I wish I could split my review up into separate categories. I would give the space/venue & food a solid 5 star. However, 3 members of the staff were extremely rude & unorganized. Venue had a sign to say welcome to the wedding at a side door - come to find out all guests, even elderly were not allowed to go through the side door across from parking garage- no reason except "that was for bride & groom only!" Elderly had to walk 5 blocks from parking garage to back entrance. They had charged the guests cash bar for 2 hours, when it was open bar all night. They did give credit card guests credit back but not the cash guests. The groom had to announce the mistake, Cindy the site-supervisor refused to. The mother of the groom was pulled aside during dinner by Cindy accusing her of false things, & threatening to shut the bar down for no reason. No forks on the cake plates. Groom had to ask for forks. Then to find out Cindy wasn't even a trained site-supervisor, she was filling in & her job was supervising the catering end of things. It was said that Cindy was fired (no proven docs were provided) and the 2 other wait staff also. Hoping Cindy is fired & no other wedding couple/family has to go through with the bad service- hoping Venue has fixed the issue & improved with the service end.

The facility features state-of-the-art workout areas and excellent programs for kids, making it a great resource for families. Additionally, the organization is praised for its outreach efforts and the wonderful people involved in its operations.
Great programs for low-income families. We utilized the job outfitter program and received $20 to Goodwill to get a few clothing items needed for new jobs we're staring. We found what we needed that same day, so it helped us out a ton!

Congregation Tifereth Israel, located on 18th St. in Lincoln, is a prime example of Neo-Classical architecture commonly seen in small-scale synagogues from the early 20th century. The building features a prominent Star of David on its front facade, making it easily identifiable as a Jewish place of worship. Dedicated on May 25, 1913, this synagogue served the Orthodox Jewish congregation until the late 1950s when a new synagogue was constructed.

Apartments
Located at 1330 and 1340 Lincoln Mall, the President and Ambassador Apartments are a pair of historic five-story buildings constructed in 1928-29. These structures showcase the final phase of historical apartment construction in Lincoln, featuring reinforced concrete with red brick veneer and limestone trim. The neighborhood is pleasant, offering a variety of apartment sizes to choose from.
I lived there for two years. Had to leave because of surgeries and siezures. Neighborhood is nice. Neighbors are pretty good. Variety of sizes for apartments. When I got a seizure cat, the apartment complex and my neighbors were accommodating. They do struggle with bed bugs. But if you keep your apartment clean and tidy, the place sprays regularly. I would like to go back there but this time not get sick.

Wesleyan is home to the iconic "Old Main," a historic three-story Richardsonian Romanesque building located at 50th and St. Paul. Designed by architects Gibbs and Parker in 1887-88, it serves as the main structure of Nebraska Wesleyan University's campus in Lincoln. The building stands as a significant landmark, reflecting the university's early history and architectural heritage. Visitors can explore its beautiful architecture and surroundings while also enjoying the campus atmosphere.
I grew up a few blocks away from Wesleyan and have so many fun memories of this campus. As kids we would play here and we would always be on the lookout for the infamous ghost of Clara Mills. Now as an adult I get to enjoy the beauty of its architecture and surroundings. And I’m still on the lookout for Ms. Clara Mills 😂👻 Head over to the campus and take a stroll around her. I assure you that you won’t be disappointed!!

We loved visiting Lincoln and this beautiful Cathedral (former Cathedral). My mom went to school here and my parents married here decades ago. The people at St Mary’s were very welcoming. It’s amazing just how often Confession is offered in Lincoln. And Adoration… it’s only offered one hour per week in my parish, typical of our diocese. Lincoln is a Catholic paradise.

Nice church with convenient daily Mass time. Beautiful stained glass, although the interior seems very plain and could use a little sprucing up. Would have given 5 stars except the parking lot is a disaster - size of a postage stamp with no place to park and it is hard to even get out of it once you determine there are no spaces. On weekdays there is ample metered street parking so I paid a couple dollars to just park there after I finally managed to get out of the parking lot.

Sorry that we missed the Mass ( Sacred Heart was closer to our Motel). Beautiful inside and out . Clean interior and restroom. A helpful and engaging parishioner was perfect.

My son and I arrived for 10am Mass 20 minutes early. Parishioners were praying the Rosary. The priest leading the prayer saw us and did a double take like we were aliens. A lady tapped my son on the shoulder and told him it was inappropriate to look at his phone in a church. We left with time enough to attend 10am Mass at another church. If you are from out of town, find somewhere else for Mass.

Excellent location, great staff, beautiful and spacious apartments in a historic building. We have loved living here and would highly recommend it. Where else can you get amazing craft beer, fantastic food, salon services and even doughnuts at any hour without having to leave your building? And to get in additional steps each day, trek around the Haymarket, walk to the library, or hop on a bike to get around more quickly. The special events such as the monthly concerts are great, and the underground parking really appreciated in icky weather.

Best Location in Lincoln, and friendly management! The location is unbeatable, I am 100 yards from food, bars, a grocery store, and a 3 minute walk from the stadium. The room is spacious and not made with cheap materials...unlike some of the other apartment complexes. The management is friendly and it doesn't feel like "you vs them". I parked in a restricted spot to run inside quick and instead of towing me the management called me and reminded me to move. That's customer service! Price-wise it is slightly above the cost of living in a loud/unfinished college building. Totally worth it..

A group of us stayed in the " Summer Suite " at the Grand Manse. It is an excellent 3 bedroom 2 full bath condo for any event. I read reviews of the 1st floor units having a lot of dust, we didn't see any dust AT ALL, in fact the 1st floor was more clean than a 5 star hotel. We loved our stay at the Grand Manse. I would definitely recommend a table at the Boiler Brewery, located in the basement of the Grand Manse! Thank you for reading my review. Ryan Scheer

I ate at Blue Orchid. Tom Ka seemed slightly bitter. The plates not as fancy. I had a donut at Hurts Donut. It was chocolate with mint and Oreo cookie coating. It was okay. In past I have eaten at the Gray Whale. A very good sushi restaurant.

I have currently lived at the Grand Manse for about six months now, and I believe that it is a great apartment complex to call home. Personally, I thought the rent was comparable to other downtown apartments. I chose to live at the Grand Manse because of the fact that it is a historical building, and the apartments are beautiful. I think the apartment complex is well run, and the landlord, Devany, does an amazing job running the place. She always responds to my emails within 24 hours of receiving them, my maintenance requests are fixed the next day, and she even bought carts/ wagons for the residents to use when they are unloading their groceries. Overall, I would recommend living at the Grand Manse. The apartments are beautiful, and they are in a super great location because you are close to the Haymarket and UNL campus.
Amanda M — Google review
I lived here for a total of 3 years and was not happy with the quality for the cost of living here. The apartments themselves seem nice when you first visit, but living in them is another story. Any apartment on the first floor by the street will collect huge amounts of dust even with rigorous cleaning/ dusting. I even taped my windows shut to seal them!! And I still got tons of dust in my apartment (note: my neighbors complained of the same problem). Another issue was that my apartment did not hold heat well at all! If you get an apartment with huge windows, be prepared to pay an absolute fortune in heating during the winter. During "wedding season" (something they don't tell you when you sign the lease), the walls of your apartment will literally shake with noise until the wee hours of the morning. This happens most weekends in the summer, and if they clean up afterwards, you will hear screeching tables and chairs being dragged across the dance floor until the early morning hours. I was a college kid and the noise still bothered me! Speaking of which, if you decide to rent an upstairs unit, be prepared to feel like you are living in a frat house. Many college kids rent the upstairs units, and they will often party in the halls and blare music all night on the weekends. Overall, this place is very poorly run and way too expensive for what you get. This place runs off its name and not much else. Don't even get me started on management... unprofessional and rude! If that doesn't get you, the loud Big Red tailgates outside your window on game days will! (No hate though, love the Huskers!!) Save yourself a lot of money and time and go find something cheaper and better in "new" Haymarket.
Walker C — Google review
Rented this ~$2000 per night property to host 4 disabled veterans and their families at the 2022 Nebraska/Oklahoma football game. Location is very convenient to The Haymarket and the stadium and the property is aesthetically striking…then we “looked under the hood”. It was NOT a good experience. CYNTHIA needs hospitality training and, for $2000/night, we are not out of line expecting the host to quality check the property to avoid the following experiences (broken fridges, not enough towels, etc...). Arrived early & checked the key box…our ASSIGNED PIN worked & 2 key fobs were in the box so we assumed the property was ready early. Incidentally, 2 key fobs to access the building AND the hallway for the entry door for a place that sleeps 20 people is UNACCEPTABLE (we had to request…then go fetch additional fobs). Shortly after settling in, Cynthia’s ‘WELCOME MESSAGE' arrives; “I see you arrived early, but I don’t have an early check in request”…our bad…but is this passive/aggressiveness necessary for a $2000/night property? Next message from Cynthia (arrived as we ordered supper) “residents are complaining that your vehicles stick out too far, please remove one of your vehicles”…so we get to stress about that while hosting 16 people for supper. Got a message later saying the cars were fine…for $2000/night, Cynthia could put eyes on the situation BEFORE sending the initial message & adding to the stress of hosting 16 people for supper. In the am, we messaged Cynthia requesting additional towels (there weren’t enough for everyone). Cynthia's response was to ask if we looked for towels under the sinks and assured us, “there are enough towels; if not there's a wash machine, you can wash some”…host was wrong, there were NOT enough towels. Additionally, for $2000/night, I don’t expect the host to send me on an Easter Egg hunt for towels; and we didn't come to Lincoln to do laundry. Messaged Cynthia that the refrigerators weren’t working; DESPITE BEING ON THE COLDEST SETTING, one stayed at 54 degrees and the other stayed at 43 degrees…NOT safe for food storage. Over the course of 36 hours, neither fridge made enough ice for more than a couple drinks. Oh…the espresso machine doesn’t work either. Cynthia said she’d send a MX man to look at the fridges and bring more towels…the fridges NEVER worked but after the game there were a bunch of sheets & towels piled on the Master Bed. Another passive aggressive move. Instructions say a WELCOME BOOK would be sitting on the kitchen counter…it was not. We went on a day and a half treasure hunt before finding it tucked way back in a drawer behind a pile of brochures. Again, Cynthia needs hospitality training in both accommodation preparedness and customer service. I do NOT recommend renting this property. If you DO rent the property, do a VERY thorough walk thru because now Cynthia is charging us $107 for a carpet stain in a bedroom...where the only liquid was distilled water for a CPAP.
