Rhythm Hirafu in Niseko is a bustling activity hub during the green season, offering an extensive selection of bike rentals and various activities. The facility features indoor bouldering with a kilter board, an indoor mini ramp, outdoor skate park and pump track, as well as trampoline and slacklines. It serves as a community hub hosting ongoing events throughout the summer. Visitors can also benefit from their premium ski rental package which offers a wide array of reputable selections and underfoot options.
We rented premium gear this week for our trip in Rusutsu. The gear was much higher quality and cheaper than the Rusutsu resort gear and any of the other local offerings. Shoutout to Felicia(sp.) for moving bits and pieces around for our guided trip that was scheduled for the end of the week. Our guide Joey was brilliant and found all sorts of awesome spots and lines that we never would have found without him. Definitely worth the cost and my wife and I had the best day skiing/boarding that we’ve ever had. Will be recommending Rhythm and Joey to anyone else that swings by Hokkaido from the London!

Equipment are well maintained and great service for getting us our suitable ski equipment. Crowd can be a little overwhelming so be there early. Great experience renting and return. Thank you Rhythm.
Ivan T — Google review
Our ski instructor Orly was extremely patient to me and my friends, who are beginners to skiing. He taught us how to put on our gears and we learnt quite a few things just within the couple of hours with him. He was very encouraging and helped built some confidence in me after I fell on the ski slopes. Very grateful for his guidance. Also, super friendly staff at Rhythm and they were very efficient in helping us picked out the right rental gears. I have already recommended Rhythm to my other friends!

We had the most amazing experience renting Specialized Vado SL model E Bikes from Rhythm in Niseko. Amazing bikes that got us through 70km Ride around Mt Yotei for the Day. Fumi and the team were very welcoming and customer service was impeccable. Looking forward to return in the winter to rent all our ski gear from them!
Daniel W — Google review
Awesome place. Wide selection of cycling gear in the summer and first class service. Everyone in the store was friendly and helpful, and the building itself is modern and with great design. We’ve got some delicious coffee and spend a few hours on summer activities they offer like bouldering and trampoline before hitting the road on our new shiny bikes! Couldn’t recommend Rhytm Japan more, the best place to rent sport gear in Niseko!
GetEmspired — Google review
Hands down the best rental experience I’ve ever had. The board and boots are on top condition and the staff were super helpful. LOVE that they offer the new Burton Step In bindings! We went with the premium package and it was totally worth it. Started on an all mountain board and then switched to a powder board after the second day. Switching the board was super easy. Just walk in right up to the board counter and get it swapped out. I saw some reviews complaining about the wait but honestly it depends when you come in. They do an amazing job for the amount of customers they get. They have stations so they try to make it as streamlined as possible. Also, love that you can pick up the rental after 3pm the day before. Will definitely rent here again!
Daniel S — Google review
Had a pleasant experience renting my ski set here. It was packed but the process was very efficient and the staff were really helpful.
Daniel B — Google review
Worst experience from a rental shop. Firstly, it took us an hour to get our board and boots. Secondly, my snowboard bindings had broken on day 6 (a part fell out) while I was on the slopes. I was on the top of the mountain and luckily found out that a part was missing while strapping in and not while I was riding or after I had sustained an injury. The rhythm team simply replaced the part with no recourse, stating that since I was in possession of the board, they would count that as a full day even though it was THEIR binding that broke on me. Overall: Terrible service. Terrible quality of goods.

Supermarket
Lucky Supermarket Kutchan shop is a large and well-stocked supermarket located just a short drive from Hirafu. It offers an extensive selection of fresh local vegetables, fish, snacks, dairy products, and canned goods. Visitors highly recommend the A5 Wagyu available at this supermarket, along with its convenient display of condiments and sauces for various dishes. The in-house bakery provides a variety of fresh bakery items including sandwiches.
This supermarket has all the stuff we needed to eat during our ski trip in Niseko. We cooked mostly so it was great to grab fresh ingredients for our meals. The shop also sells garments, shoes and other random stuff. Quite like a mix of a pharmacy, supermarket and apparel shop. The staff speak English.
Daniel B — Google review
This place is perfect for getting all the things you need for a winter holiday in Niseko. Fruits, veggies and meat are all fresh, prices are reasonable. Lots of parking right in front, and staff are helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend making this a grocery stop!
Sarah S — Google review
Worth the drive from the Niseko Hirafu resorts for bigger portions, more variety of beers and spirits, and heaps of seafood.
Ben M — Google review
Lucky Supermarket has a great variety of food at very reasonable prices, especially the meats and sashimi-grade fish. The quality was impressive, and we were able to find everything we needed for a fantastic dinner. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to help us locate all the specialty ingredients we were looking for. Highly recommend shopping here if you're planning a special meal at home.

Got what I want for summer in Japan. Firework choices are wowowow!!!! And good to enjoy Sth with melon favour , love! And I did shopping here for my dinner prep, good stop before I get to my apartment

A must visit place for us. Visited Niseko many times and we never skipped Lucky Supermarket once. Big and well stocked supermarket. They have A5 Wagyu. Condiments, sauces for wagyu displayed along with wagyu, very easy to find everything u need to buy to cook certain dish. Example u want to cook beef sukiyaki, they displayed sukiyaki sauce above the fridge where the meats for sukiyaki are. Just grab them both and u are ready for sukiyaki meal. Highly recommended A5 wagyu. Price is reasonable, have yourself enough wagyu when in Japan. Arrays of fresh seafood, meats, fruits and vegetables. Ah dont forget to try white strawberries when its in season, you will love it. They also have some cakes, cookies, pudding for souvenirs. Liquor and drinks aisle are huge. Wide selections of dairy and frozen foods. They even have bakery, FAMIMA. Grab yourself some freshly baked bread before u head home. Next to the bakery, you can see CAN DO. Its ¥100 shop. Everything there is literally ¥100 each. If u forget something and needed to buy one, this is the place. They basically have almost everything. Clothing to stationeries. Tops bottom Socks are very cheap here. Good quality, not shady at all. Impressive to find these value for money clothing in Japan. I cant even find them in developing country like mine. Must buy (if u dont have any yet) ski jacket at very affordable prices. Same price like rental daily. Might as well get yourself one here. Thermal wear too. Very good price. Last but not the least, carrying all your shopping items, you need a taxi to get back, there's a free phone to call for taxi. Best thing is, the operator speak English. So you are safe! We always take bus to go Lucky and come back with taxi. From hirafu intersection, bus fare is ¥400 per person. Taxi cost about ¥3.000. Too bad there is no pharmacy in Lucky. Need to walk bout 700-800 meter to reach Sapporo Drug store.
AlaDollar — Google review
Very much worth the drive from Niseko to Kutchan for this experience. Superb selection, great fish as you’d expect, from fish in a bucket to ready made sushi; much cheaper than smaller resort supermarkets. Life changing experience. 10/10.
Peter D — Google review
Good sized grocery store. Lots of to-go food options. There is an in-house bakery with lots of fresh bakery items including sandwiches. Sells clothing and various items, limited souvenirs. There is an area to sit and eat, free WiFi. Clean restrooms.

Hirafu 188 is an apartment hotel located in Upper Hirafu, offering streamlined units with mountain views, ski storage, and complimentary Wi-Fi. The location provides easy access to Sapporo Drug Store for over-the-counter medicine and sports supplies. Guests have praised the attentive care provided by the staff, including helpful recommendations and access to a complimentary van for transportation. The hosts are commended for their exceptional service and assistance in navigating the area.
We had an exceptional stay at Hirafu188 and cannot thank the team enough for their outstanding hospitality. The apartment was not only beautifully furnished and well-equipped but also strategically located within walking distance to restaurants, making it a perfect base for our winter adventure in Niseko. A special shoutout to Dennis, Chisa, and especially Daisuke-san for going above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Their warmth and care made us feel truly at home. Daisuke-san, in particular, deserves heartfelt gratitude for braving the bitter cold to shuttle us between places and patiently waiting for us—his kindness and dedication were deeply appreciated. Hirafu188 exceeded our expectations in every way. For anyone considering a stay here, I highly recommend it for its prime location, lovely apartment, and the incredible team that makes your experience unforgettable. Thank you for making our Niseko trip so memorable!
Linda L — Google review
Mike, Daisuke and Luke were excellent hosts for me and my son during our stay. They went out of their way to make sure we were well taken care of. We enjoyed the modern building/room and layout. Very convenient to most places in Hirafu and we walked 90% of the time. When we couldn’t walk the hotel team took excellent care of us and gave us a ride in the hotel shuttle bus. We got great advice for hot springs, ski locations and restaurants. We would absolutely stay again. Minor complaint is that hallway can be noisy if people come back late at night. Plus for the convenience store on ground floor and excellent ski storage.
Chris B — Google review
This was the perfect place to stay for us 2 families traveling with young kids. Kyoko and her team took good care of us and set us up for success, providing restaurant recommendations and helpful reminder to book reservations early. The apartment comes with complimentary use of their van, which was super helpful traveling with luggage. The location is perfect in that you are in the heart of everything and walkable to grand hirafu, not to mention the convenience store right downstairs! Only negative would be it’s not cheap, but it is worth it in my opinion. Would love to come back again someday.
Jamie W — Google review
We had a great experience with Hirafu188, starting from weeks earlier, Kyoko already contacted me with useful info for our trip. Our 3 bedroom apartment was very spacious and clean, and we had a great two nights stay there! It was also very easy to communicate with Kyoko when we needed the driver to drive us and pick us up from nearby ski locations. There was also a ski equipment room for us whereby we can leave our equipments and ask the ski rental company to pick up. Super convenient location, near to ski lift, convenience store just downstairs and also near to many restaurants. We would definitely stay again in Hirafu188! Thanks for the great experience 😊
Siew T — Google review
Our first time in Niseko and we couldn't have booked a better place. Location is superb, just 2 mins walk from Grand Hirafu .Base to access the snow and 2-5 mins walk to shops and restaurants. As a family of 5, we stayed in the Hirafu Suite which was 3 bedrooms and 3 full bath, plenty of space for 3 young kids. Having a full kitchen was also great for cooking and eating in. The building has everything one can ask for - basement for equipment storage, first floor has a drug and simple grocery store, second floor has a small equipment shop, and the top floor has a newly opened Japanese restaurant (Sushi Sase). Kyoko, the property manager, was friendly and extremely helpful from the start to the end. Always reachable via WhatsApp or a call and thoughtful in helping us with whatever we needed. Luke and Daisuke the 2 drivers we used were very friendly and knowledgable about the area. Luke was a great help especially when we had to make our way to restaurants that were a bit far for our young ones to walk or when we had to get picked up because of a sudden snow storm! Overall, we would definitely come back and stay again when we are in Niseko next. Highly recommend this property, location, and the great team that managed our stay and experience!
Michael T — Google review
Good variety, not bad prices. A conbini fused with a supermarket, kind off. While they won't have all the ingredients, veggies and items a supermarket has, they do have a good selection. From food, milk, some veggies, some meat, good selection of cheese and spirits. To medicines, deodorant, condoms, sanitary napkins and other items you probably forgot to pack in your suitcase.
David B — Google review
Handy supermarket in the centre of town has ATM also. Ski resort prices though still not too expensive. Lots of alcohol options and nice Whiskys. Good pharmacy section at the back to do some DIY fixes from injuries that may occur.
Angus T — Google review
Nice range of quick small grocery. Medicine, cosmetics, drinks, fresh vegetables and fruits. Yet if you want bigger groceries, go to lucky supermarket. Things are not super over priced. Some items are cheaper than the convenient stores.

Five star experience of buying a pair of Ion boots. Sales-person (Lisa) was awesome and very patient in explaining options and took time in ensuring the correct fit of the boot. Would highly recommend. Plus.. Burton products have never let me down! Lisa, I will pray for your success!

Amazing service and friendly staff. Had an issue with my binding and he solved it by offering an awesome solution. It was very much appreciated as this level of service is rare in Niseko these days. Thank you so much!

Super friendly staff. My Boa on my Burton boot broke and they took care of it right away. This happened in the middle of our snowboard trip and I was a bit stressed about getting it fixed in time for the next day of powder. These guys and girls will take great care of you!

Very great service from the staff here. Our binding got torn apart during the ride, and we were hoping they would sell the parts from old models, unfortunately Burton stop producing our models anymore and staff John managed to replace the broken part with a second hand one, very helpful shop and staff !!!!

Fully stocked Burton shop, there is so much of the range on offer here to get your hands on, it's great. They also do tax free if you're coming from abroad. RJ helped us with detailed discussions on the AK range and mid layers, and that dude sure knows his stuff! Top man. We left with a fresh set of mid layer gear and a big smile 😁

ATM
7-Eleven in Niseko is a convenient stop for all your daily needs, offering snacks, drinks, groceries, and even an ATM. The store has a large parking lot and is easily recognizable by its prominent sign and lighting. It provides a variety of pre-cooked meals, ingredients, and seating for dining in. Visitors appreciate the extensive grocery selection including fresh produce and frozen meats.
One of the few convenience stores in the area, we often frequented this convenience store when we needed a supply run. There's not much to be said about it because we all know that all convenience stores in Japan are great and really do offer convenience in both food, drinks, toiletries, medicine and reading material. The parking lot for this shop is exceptionally large so there will always be parking. The store is almost impossible to miss with it's large sign and signature lighting out front.
Alexander C — Google review
Just as another review said, be careful of the midnight working staff called Tanaka, who will swear at you when you try to ask him to reheat the food in broken Japanese. What a shame.

Ski rental service
Village Sports Japan is a top choice for ski and snowboard gear in Niseko Village. They offer custom boot fitting for maximum comfort and performance, catering to both beginners and experienced powder enthusiasts. The knowledgeable team ensures a seamless experience, enhancing your apres-ski adventure. Customers appreciate the helpful and accommodating staff who provide quality gear with easy booking, fitting, and return processes.
Excellent service they sent me up with skis. I enjoyed all six days.
Cat S — Google review
This is a store with good product quality but wildly inconsistent service, making it unsuitable for beginners. The staff here are hit-or-miss, and most seem uninterested in helping. For beginners, this can be a real nightmare. For instance, they gave me the wrong shoe size, which caused foot pain all night. The next day, I had to go back to exchange it, and during the process, the staff mentioned they’d also given me the wrong binding. So they swapped out the board and binding entirely. Only later, when I started skiing, did I realize the new board was a different length from the first one. To make matters worse, the new boots extended way beyond the board, requiring me to adjust again. It felt like they handled everything carelessly and recklessly, especially when they figured out I was a beginner unfamiliar with the equipment. Fortunately, the staff member assisting with gear returns on the last day was polite and professional. If it had been the same unhelpful team from earlier, I would have had no hesitation about filing a formal complaint. While their snow gear—like jackets and pants—is of decent quality, I cannot recommend this shop to anyone who needs service beyond self-help. Some of the staff are so busy that they seem to completely ignore you, no matter how many questions you have.
Wilson Y — Google review
A huge thank you to the entire Village Sports Niseko team and especially our point-man, Juan, for setting our guests up with the best hire gear! Easy swapping out of skis as snow conditions and preference demanded allowed us to make the most of every day! Cheers!
M. P — Google review
James was incredibly helpful throughout the rental process. His knowledge, experience, and patience to take the time and understand us as individual skiers helped him match us with comfortable skis that fit our styles.
Amy S — Google review
Juan was very kind and helpful. Maybe the store should create a better process for people trying to check in and rent gear because I had to wait unattended before renting. Nonetheless, the experience was overall good as there were not too many people when I went there. If you stay in Niseko Village, this is the best logistical option for renting your gear.
Youngsuk H — Google review
I had some issues with my boots with tight spots and causing pain to my ankle i booked in here to see their boot specialist and the blokes knowledge was top tier. First he added padding to my boot but it wasn't going to be a permanent fix i decided that the option could possibly be new boots, i ended up going down that road and he moulded my new boots to my feet, and the difference is so crazy my heels dont come out my boots and the offer great support. The service i had here, i couldnt have asked for better and they showed they cared!
Michael S — Google review
I rented gear from Village Sports for 4 days last week. We were VERY well taken care of. The team at Village Sports was very helpful, knowledgeable and always available. we showed up at 9 pm, they worked with us for an hour and even gave us a ride to our lodge down the road. I would 100% rent from them again. They actually cost less than flying with my skis and boots especially when you account for storing your gear at the airport or dragging it around with you on vacation. Thanks so much guys!
Emmett R — Google review
Our group had a great experience renting skis and snowboards here. They were able to give good advice during the fitting. The rental skis and snowboards are in good condition. We stopped by later to ask questions about the differences of the different ski styles, and they were very open for a chat and provided very informative explanation for us beginners. Will definitely return the next time I return to Niseko.

Mountain Shop Niseko 343 is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Hirafu, offering an impressive selection of powder skis and stylish ski wear from popular European brands. This locally-owned shop stands out for its premium rental service, featuring heat-molded K2 ski boots that ensure comfort on the slopes. The friendly and professional staff, led by owner Katsuhiko Odajima, are dedicated to providing top-notch service, whether it’s mounting bindings or performing laser waxing on your gear.
Really enjoyed my rental skis from this shop. We rented for 5 days and the experience was effortless. The staff were very helpful and friendly - they seemed genuinely excited for me to experience the skiing at Niseko. Would recommend without hesitation.

Had a great ski rental experience from here. The staff seemed knowledgeable and very helpful and flexible. Skis and poles we rented were great, no problems all week. Not sure how the pricing compares with others, we chose this place from a logistics perspective.

Very professional ski store & very good service-oriented staff. I’m happy with how they fixed scratches & minor damages on my ski & the waxing 👍🏻

Broke my snowboard binding and all the big shops had no spare parts and said I probably wouldn’t find any in Niseko. Then I found this place, they had the part and they fixed it no problem 😎

Excellent (and prompt) service. Great equipment. Knowledgeable staff. Reasonable rates. What more could you ask of a ski shop?
Jonathan B — Google review
Praise the lord. A pro shop in this otherwise god forsaken tourist resort. Good bunch of local dudes, beaut selection of gear from choice brands. Organised a new pair of bindings and mounted another pair of touring bindings on skis neatly and perfectly. Tax free plus a late season discount. Score!
Brodie B — Google review
We rented from them as wanted to support a local business. The service was ok but the biggest issue is my wife had a fall and the bindings didn’t release. Unfortunately she did her knee on day 1. On approaching them to see if they would consider any refund of three day rental. They refused. I think I will NOT consider them again..... It’s cheaper than the Mega Rhythm ski shop.

Rhythm Summit in Niseko is a top choice for ski and snowboard rentals, with efficient processes and helpful staff making the experience super easy. The friendly and knowledgeable team, including standout employees like Themis and Julian, ensure that customers find the perfect gear for their needs. The store's spacious and modern facilities provide a comfortable environment to browse through a wide selection of equipment. Customers appreciate the option to upgrade to premium rentals, allowing them to try out different boards each day.
My new snowshoes only took me for one run and I was in so much pain. I had previously visited other stores and was told that a fitting would take a very long time. I happened to come to Rhythm for waxing and found out they also do fittings. I never expected it to be so fast and so cheap, only 2,000 yen. I'm really grateful to my French friend Eilo. He solved my problem very professionally.

The staff are very friendly and helpful when we came here to check if they can help with our snowboard boots when the sole is coming off, and the staff actually went to ask if it's possible to fix. Another staff member helped to check my feet size and check if there were suitable boots but they were out of stock since it was very late into the season. Two nice ladies helped us with explaining the MIP parts in the helmets too.

We were here 6 years ago in different location, now they had build a bigger and nicer one. Rhythm runs most efficient ski rental in this town. Stream line process and super helpful staff make the rental process super easy. I injure my wrist and need to terminate the remaining 4 day rental, they refund me on the spot. The snowboard that is recommended to me was excellent. I went with premium rental so I can try different board each day. It was a great upgrade. The in-store cafe and bathroom is super nice.

This place deserves 5 stars because of Ross, the master boot fitter. I purchased my previous boots at Evo in Seattle and unfortunately, I could tell on my first day riding at Niseko that the fit wasn't right. Extreme hill lift and I had no control of my board. Thank goodness Ross helped me. He analyzed my foot and had me try at least 5 different boots. We found the perfect fit, a DC snowboarding boot a size smaller than my 32s (I have wide upper foot and small heels). Thank you Ross for making my Niseko trip so much better. I now know that going to a reputable boot fitter is a must, much more important than finding the right board.

Themis OMG this legend fitted me to perfection. He was awesome in the explanation on the full boot fit to product knowledge 100% If your in Japan niseko He is the French guy with great English 🤩

WOW…. I ride 60-70 days a season and I have NEVER met someone more knowledgeable about snowboard boots than Ross!! My wife has been riding for 5 years and hasn’t been able to find a boot that fits her “right.” Her foot isn’t cookie-cutter shape so boots never fit right out of the box. Ross worked with us (emphasis on the “worked with,” this truly felt like a teamwork experience, not getting sold to at a shop) for 45 minutes to PERFECTLY fit my wife’s foot into a new pair of boots. She couldn’t be happier. He’s an absolute pro at his job and his attention to detail was impressive. Such a great reflection of the love and care from the entire Rhythm shop. If you’re coming to Niseko and need to buy/rent gear, you MUST visit this shop. We’ll never go anywhere else every again!!

First time here in Niseko and wow! The service here was amazing, huge respect and a big thankyou to Themis for helping me and my partner find the perfect snow jacket and fit our bindings to our boards for free! Absolutely amazing!! Highly recommend

Had a great experience renting here last month and wanted to call out Julian for his exceptional service - the man deserves a bonus or a beer at the very least! I'd recommend this store, although would call out that due to the sheer size of the place you might experience variance in the quality of rental gear and service. Initially got set up on a 4 year old deck with a slightly busted rail but went back for a free swap and landed with a very nice board which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Seicomart Niseko is a popular convenience store in Hokkaido, known for its well-maintained premises and good lunch options. It's a useful spot in an area where there are no other convenience stores nearby. The store can get quite crowded during lunchtime, but it offers a hot chef and operates from 6:00 to 23:00. While there's no eat-in space, visitors can grab their favorite items and enjoy them elsewhere.

(Translated by Google) Unlike 7-Eleven, Lawson does not have a self-checkout system, and it is the staff who dispenses money, not the machine, and the staff who puts the items into the bag. Yesterday, I bought two Google play cards worth 1,000 yen and some side dishes, but I forgot to put the two cards in the bag. I noticed it in the middle of the night, so I called the next morning. The young-looking female clerk who answered the phone at that time had good understanding and apologized even though it wasn't her fault, so she was a very nice person. The male clerk wearing glasses who dealt with me didn't even apologize a single word, even though the male clerk was 90% at fault. As if it's not my fault.
