Nature & Parks
Central Park Simion Bărnuțiu, established in the 19th century, is a picturesque and popular park for running and relaxation. The park's tree-lined avenues and romantic benches make it a favored spot for special meetings and leisurely strolls. Renovated with paved roads, a fountain, pavilion, casino building, and restaurant by the lake, the park offers ample opportunities to unwind and enjoy nature.
I loved the parc. It is so beautiful. You can relax by the water or on a bench. I visited it on Saturday and there were several weddings, so i also saw many beautiful brides.
Kristina — Google review
Beautiful park, been here many times already and it’s fantastic. Very tidy, very green, and full of life. Plenty of trees no trash, its really perfect. There are also plenty of statues which is great to see, it’s important to take care of a nation’s culture like so!
Márton M — Google review
A perfect place to walk around. There was a pot for people and kids to have some evening time pass. In this small city, you can go there and enjoy. The design of park is similar to the on in budapest 🤣
Muhammad R — Google review
it is a nice park to walk around, the lake area is very beautiful. you also have parking near the park, but it gets crowded when there are weddings
Cristina D — Google review
Cluj's Central Park is a very beautiful urban garden. Nothing grand or earth-shattering, but green, relaxed, and suitable for young and old, with a mixed crowd. It's a great place to recharge your batteries for the hectic city with its few trees. The only drawback: the statues of famous Romanians in the park depict only men.
Ingo A — Google review
The park is very big and clean. Nicely arranged flowers, many benches to rest, and a great cafe in the middle. It's not only for the family but for everyone who wants to get connected to the trees and relax in the nature.
Di R — Google review
A very beautiful park in Cluj, good for walking, jogging or just take a pause. The lake in the middle adds charm, also the old Casino building.
Burghelea O — Google review
It's a wonderful park. I wish there were little kiosks selling things like water, coffee, and sandwiches inside the park. I'm going with my grandson. But I can't buy him anything. I wish it were a more fun place.

Cetățuia Park, situated atop Cetățuia Hill in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, offers stunning panoramic views of the city and its iconic landmarks. The park is a popular spot for locals and tourists to enjoy the serene green space, with benches and a playground available. The historic Cluj-Napoca Fortress, dating back to the 18th century, adds a touch of historical charm to the picturesque landscape.
The parc is very high above the city. The visit is connected with climbing many stairs. But it is worth it. You have a very nice view over the city. And you have several angles for climbing it, so you can choose different ones for up and down or the easiest one. Would recommend.
Kristina — Google review
Great location of the park, wonderful view over the city center But the issue here that it's a pretty neglected. For example, many paths are ruined. It's sad to see and I hope it will be renovated soon
Andrii — Google review
Nice park to get a city view.it is better to go during evening time.. Lots of stair to climb..If you follow the Google map is the wrong destination to see the city view. After you have come out from the small little tunnel you can immediately turn left and you will see the cross. If not before you reach the small tunnel there is a turn (small shop which I think is no longer in operation) which directly bring you to the lookout..
Алициа — Google review
Absolutely lovely, great views!!! A must if you are in the city centre. ❤️
Timea B — Google review
Nice view from the park, however they should take care a bit more about this public area. Gardening, put some flowers. Seemed a bit abandoned.
Bruno A — Google review
Amazing views from up the hill. Be careful to take the concrete stairs if you are not resistent or if you want a more "civilised" outcome, the back stairs that are right near the bridge over the Someș canal are kind of a hike, not gonna lie, especially during the hot summer and when it's slippery and muddy in winter. Otherwise, enjoy!
Monica R — Google review
Beautiful view from the top, approximately a 10 minute walk. Pretty in the summer and in the winter! Must check it out if someone is visiting the city!

Gardens
The Alexandru Borza Botanical Garden, part of Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, is a sprawling 14-hectare masterpiece founded in 1920 by Professor Alexandru Borza. This historical monument houses over 10,000 plant species from around the world, organized into distinct sectors like ornamental, phytogeographical, systematic, economic, and medicinal. The garden's rich history and architectural allure make it an enchanting oasis for relaxation and exploration.
Beautiful botanical garden, plenty of things to see and really big. There are huge exotic plants in the greenhouse and the atmosphere near the little river is amazing and calming. The price is fantastic , mostly for students and kids. My inly critique is that there are a couple broken bridges and wooden structures that should be repaired and fixed up. But still a great place, one could easily spend two hours here, even half a day if someone wants to study or relax in a calming environment.
Márton M — Google review
Amazing! An impressive and peaceful place where nature, history, and science come together. The garden covers about 14 hectares and includes over 10,000 plant species from around the world. Highlights include the beautiful Japanese Garden, the Roman Garden with ancient artifacts, and the tropical greenhouses filled with exotic plants. There’s also a tower offering a panoramic view. Well-organized, educational, and relaxing — definitely worth a visit if you’re in the city!
Burghelea O — Google review
Calm & nice place to visit for a reasonable price. Huge collection of different species. Most ways are easy to walk, but not always wheelchair/ stroller friendly. Must check timings and dates beforehand in order to be able to visit the glasshouse too! Check the website in advance, contains all useful info. Toilets: could be more/ at frequented places. Definitely worths a visit.
Zsuzsanna N — Google review
Amazing. Thousands of flowers and plants from all around the world. Huge trees, palms, mango trees, avocado, bananas, you name it. There is a Japanese garden and a museum absolutely amazing. The is so much to see, and it is so quiet. And cheap. A must go for anyone
Roberto F — Google review
A really pleasant botanical garden to walk around. There are lots of informative signs about the plants, and since it’s close to the city center, it’s easy to get here. Definitely a place worth visiting if you have some time in Cluj.
Ali E — Google review
Highly recommended to visit! The best botanical garden according to me. Big and really beautiful. Very impressed with the amount of species and how well maintained it is …
Dragonfly B — Google review
Nice place. This is definitely not ther tome of year... but they make up for it by some light show. They said it is on from 4 PM at weekends, and 5PM during week days. I was atvday time somit was not on...

The Ethnographical Museum of Transylvania, established in 1922 by professor Romulus Voia, is a prestigious museum showcasing the rural heritage of Transylvania. It boasts over 41,000 traditional peasant objects from the 17th to 20th centuries and a documentary fund of over 80,000 items.
Superb ethnographic museum. Probably the best in Romania. Interesting quality exhibits and informational. The staff is friendly. Couldn’t get VR headset to work but since it’s rare to even see those , it wasn’t a big deal. Back to the manual tools for me.
Dmitriy P — Google review
Was pretty disappointed with this place. It only cost 10 lei to enter, which is nice, but they tried to charge another 5 lei to take photos, which is ridiculous to me. A lot of the items didn’t have any information, or if they did it was only in Romanian. I only spent 10-15 minutes here, and as someone who loves museums I think this can be a skip
Randy T — Google review
A surprise for us and also for our kids. We visited a rock exhibition and then we saw a Lego exhibition. But passing through the Lego stands we watch with a big curiosity over the daily exposition. All was Great!
Cosmin-Adrian M — Google review
A really interesting museum with a wide variety of exhibits showcasing the culture, traditions, and history of Transylvania. The displays are detailed and well-presented, making it easy to learn and appreciate the heritage of the region. The staff were welcoming, and the ticket price was reasonable. Overall, a great place to spend a couple of hours and definitely worth a visit.
Eric C — Google review
It was lovely, clean, organized, but... No explanations. Just a note what the item is & from when & where. All the multimedia was out of order The VR was a nice idea but since all explanations were it Romanian I couldn't get them to work & no one offered help. I expected much more!!! Nice 30 minutes but could have been much much much more.... Tickets are bought at the 1st floor. 10 lei for adults
Yael C — Google review
Nice visit, I was looking for a big collection of Romanian Traditional outfits, but they didn’t have that much. Great customer service, the lady who works at the ticket office and the lady working at the gift shop were very nice.
Teo S — Google review
pretty average experience. a moderate amount of exhibits. a big minus is that there was almost no contextual information provided (only brief descriptions for each individual item i.e. “spoon”, “rug”, “hat”, but with no further information). the clothing section was the most interesting part, but one of the workers followed us at a two-meter distance through the entire room, which was very distracting and more than a little unnerving. if staff have nothing interesting to say but still wish to provide security then they should just stay in one place.
Morgan — Google review
Tiny but representative museum where one can get to know the ethnic diversity of Romania in 18-20th centuries. The variety of traditional clothes impressed me. There was also an art exhibition by a modern artist who reinterpreted the Christian motives. It’s a quick and simple way to get a brief overview of Romanian culture, so I definitely can recommend.

The Ethnographic Park Romulus Vuia, established in 1929, is a heritage museum that showcases traditional buildings and structures. Named after its founder, Professor Romulus Vuia, the museum features old traditional buildings grouped by regional establishments, folk architecture monuments, craftsman workshops, and more. Notably, it is the oldest museum in Romania and houses exhibit pieces dating back to 1678. The park also hosts annual fairs and traditional cultural events.
Lovely piece of Romanian history. We loved the old houses and the traditional churches they have there. It was interesting to see the old mills and presses. Could use one more place to fill up a water bottle, as we visited in a hot day. Otherwise great experience ❤️
Doriana P — Google review
I had the pleasure to participate at Iarmaroc festival and it was so beautiful! The vibe, people and place were just amazing. Definitely gonna come again next year! Also, the place is quiet and nice to visit on a daily basis if you want.
Ștefana M — Google review
Interesting and quirky place, and very pleasant place to spend a summer morning. The wooden churches were my highlight. There's more than a touch of Middle Earth about the place, but no Hobbits. You can walk from the old town along the hill, as it's not particularly accessible by public transport nearby.
Dylan H — Google review
We've spent a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon at the Museum and every single item on display had its own character and beauty. The ticket prices are very reasonable, clean toilets, very tidy exterior space and lots of grass for children to consume their energy on. We absolutely adored it there and we would most definitely return one day.
Ramona P — Google review
I visited the park during the Jazz in the Park festival this year and I loved it so!! It is such a beautiful green space, I felt like I was far away from Cluj. I loved the historical monuments, the houses and the orchards. During the hot summer days it was a great option to opt for a nice picnic under the trees, maybe read something:) I highly recommend it <3 sadly, I don't have that many photos without the stages and all, but I could find these three
Anastasia S — Google review
A very beautiful place. Peaceful, many old romanian houses from all the country. You can find horses, squirrels, I really recommend if you want something quiet to do
Roberto F — Google review
Absolutely lovely! Would benefit of a coffee shop inside but beside that is stunning. Staff very friendly! 👌
Timea B — Google review
The “Romulus Vuia” Ethnographic Park – Cluj-Napoca There are places you don’t just visit, you breathe them in. The “Romulus Vuia” Ethnographic Park is one of those rare places: you walk and feel the wood creak with centuries of memory, the smell of worked earth, the echo of hands that once built and prayed. It’s not just an open-air museum—it’s a fragment of life brought back to stand before you. The houses are not stage sets; they are real, carried here from villages across Transylvania. Doors still seem to wait for their owners to return. The farms, fences, and tools speak of a time when every gesture mattered, when survival was tied directly to the land. Here you don’t just see objects—you see stories. And then, the churches. Wooden ones with a quiet, stubborn strength. One was closed, but another welcomed me inside: simple, devout interiors, faded icons, and a light that filtered through like a breath. Inside, you feel an entire people—their faith, their struggle, their hope. It’s not a flawless place, nor does it need to be. Some areas are less polished, some signs are missing. But maybe that’s the point. What stays with you is not postcard perfection, but the soul it leaves behind. If you find yourself in Cluj, go. Not just to look, but to listen. Because among those ancient timbers and peasant walls, it isn’t only the past that speaks—it’s a reminder that we too, today, are walking history.

If you're in Cluj for a day and it's not winter, make sure to visit the botanical garden. The garden covers 14 hectares and showcases various plants and ecosystems from different parts of the world. It is said to contain over 10,000 plant categories. This remarkable garden offers an abundance of sights, with hours worth of exploration among beautiful flowers and plant life. The tranquil Japanese garden and the diverse collection of plants in the greenhouse are particularly noteworthy.
This place was amazing, and so cheap. I highly recommend for a tranquil walk. It’s relaxing to see such well-maintained biodiversity at your fingertips. Wear sensible shoes!

Beautiful garden, with a lot of plant varieties. Minus one star because, unfortunately there's no active security and some people still act like they've just "gotten down from the tree", yelling and drawing attention to themselves.

Very nice botanical garden. Apparently only 1 way in or out though, for some unknown reason. Walked for a couple hours through it and tried to exit only to have some annoyed, dumpy security guard grunt and point into the distance when I asked if I could exit out of what appeared to be a very obvious, convenient exit on the southern side. Why not put in a one way gate? Makes no sense

Iuliu Prodan Park is a hidden gem nestled in the Zorilor district, just 6.4 kilometers from the bustling city center. This serene oasis stands out as one of the cleanest green spaces around, offering a tranquil escape from urban life. Despite its charm, it seems to have been overlooked by local authorities for updates and maintenance over the years. The park is perfect for leisurely strolls with family or pets and features a well-designed playground that delights children.
The park is very nice, especially in summer when it is a good escape from the hot sun. It is a good playground since it has been redesigned. Makes you feel like you are not in the city anymore.
Cristina B — Google review
Unfortunately, the state of the park does not reflect the city hall's concern for green, common and relaxation spaces. The building inside looks exactly like it did 40 years ago. And it's not the fault of the park or the visitors.

Serene and peaceful, it is a great place to relax. You can also jog pretty well here, go for a walk with either your kids or pets, and enjoy the playground. All in all, it's a great spot to chill.

The park offers an ideal setting for leisurely strolls or relaxing picnics amidst natural beauty and tranquility.
Great place to go for a bike ride, walk your dog, walk yourself. There are many events that take place here, from movie viewing to food festivals. The lake is usually kept clean, but there are times when leaves and other things gather on the surface. You can see ducks, swans, frogs and other animals here.

Incredibly cozy lake-side park and trail with close proximity to the mall and cozy surrounding areas. Lots of beautiful willow trees, places to sit, flowers, cats, etc.

It is a unique park near the Lulius Mall with a fantastic lake and a good atmosphere. Near the lake, there are many food trucks, beer station, and shisha place.

A classic Cluj park, nice for walks or for riding the bikes on the lake. However, not much to do there other than admiring the scenery or having a nice picnic. They do, however, host several events here quite often that you might be interested in (street food festival, cinema nights, yoga events, etc.)

A neat mall just outside the city in harmony with its surroundings.

In this green area and lake, you'll see at its best the difference between the private and local/town hall administration. Next to mall is the modernized area, the rest is poorly managed and not so clean, as some might like. Usually it is crowded. Good for walking, running or resting on the grass.

A nice park to enjoy nature alone or with family

Good place to chill, in the middle of the city. Grass is green, lots of kids, lake nearby, and coffee is good. The music on the speakers is good, so if you're enjoying a few hours with a kid, or reading a book, you will enjoy it.

Iconic Garden is a delightful oasis that offers the perfect ambiance for relaxation and enjoyment. Whether you're looking to unwind with friends or enjoy a romantic date, this charming venue has it all. With its beautiful surroundings, you can savor delicious food while being entertained in a vibrant atmosphere. Don't forget to say hi to Laura, the friendly bartender who adds an extra touch of warmth to your experience!
I had a wine here. The atmosphere was superb. Nice place to chill out with friends or have a date)

We’ve ordered 2 cocktails which have been quite pricy (besides being on the bar’s Special’s list) but the outcome was having two below average drinks. First of all I’ve been told by the barmaid that she works there just for the weekend to earn some extra cash. Nothing to blame but this means she is not specialized in bartending hence just mixing of a list on the bar. When it came to ingredients, they used lower quality ones than what the actual displayed list said, actually some of them even missing. When I mentioned that they are not using the drinks on the cocktail list, again I’ve been told they have seen worse days than this. Finally there was no manager in sight to discuss this situation with. In conclusion just go there if you’d like something bottled, don’t bother trying their cocktails list. Overall just an overpriced place eager for money, not that much for quality.

I have been going here alone regularly for a year. During 1 year in Romania I have been coming to this bar alone often. I was not even in the bar, and for some reason a crazy Romanian attacked me and said that he will break my legs if I return to this bar. I was walking to the toilet. So he will break my legs if I go to the toilet. I am sad about Romanian people a lot. Break my legs, I will still come

(Translated by Google) I recently went to Movie Nights in Iulius Park for the first time, and unfortunately, the experience was marred by an unpleasant moment. The official event pages only listed the films that were going to be shown, without any other useful information, such as the time or the fact that you need to bring something to sit on. When we got there and realized this, we turned back to the car, passing by this nearby terrace that had a pile of unused beanbags. The terrace was almost empty, so we politely asked an employee if we could borrow two to watch the movie, and we would bring them back immediately after the screening. The young woman at the bar was very kind, she only asked us to check if they were not wet, because it had rained that day, and she told us that we could take them, on the condition that we return them. I really appreciated her openness and kindness. Unfortunately, the film wasn't even halfway through when a gentleman came up to us in an aggressive tone and demanded that we immediately return the beanbags we had taken from their terrace, as if we had taken them without permission. I explained to him that I had spoken to a colleague of his, who gave us permission, but he repeated the same phrase, not willing to listen. We preferred not to create a conflict, out of respect for the other people watching the film, and we got up, but I noticed that other people were also going through the same situation. I understand the concern for the property of the venue, but I think everything could have been handled with more calm and respect. It was a shame that a beautiful event was ruined by a rigid approach that lacked respect and empathy. If the gentleman was worried that someone wouldn't return the beanbag, I'm sure they have cameras everywhere and could figure out who came back with it and who didn't. I hope the kind employee doesn't suffer as a result of this situation. We, unfortunately, will not be returning to this terrace. Before being good managers/employees, we have to be human. I don't think it cost him anything if he did a good deed.
