Nature & Parks
Park
Kenna Cartwright Nature Park is a vast, year-round park with picturesque trails suitable for hiking, cycling, and snowshoeing. It boasts over 40 kilometers of gentle paths and is the largest municipal park in the province. The park offers a variety of trails, from easy to challenging, including wheelchair-accessible options. One of its highlights is the Tower Trail, a family-friendly 3.4-kilometer hike with stunning city views from a viewing platform at the top.
Trail is well maintain! Our dog love it. We walked in black diamond trail and its doable if you walked alot before. Nice view in the top! Free parking, toilet pit in the area, there is a bike repair station near in the parking lot. There is a lot of trail in the area too.
Adette B — Google review
There are quite a few trails here. Most are steep so be ready to go up. The view from the top was great and I felt a good sense of accomplishment when I made it up. We took the main viewpoint trail. It took about 1 hour to go up, hang out a bit at the top, then go down. I would not take my kids. They would have complained a lot. It is all up! There was parking, it was easy to find, there was a bathroom and garbage can at the base of the trail and this was a good trail to try if you are looking for a good little hike and aren’t from town - it was easy to find and it is well marked, you won’t get lost.
Lyndsay A — Google review
A great walk with stunning views. You can choose your difficulty level. Watch out for trail bikes coming down. Easiest way was to park off hillside. Beautiful views.
Kimberly C — Google review
Lovely short and quiet hike. Trail was well kept. You get beautiful views of the town & the surrounding mountains. If you have time to spare, definitely come explore this place. Tower trail goes straight up btw.
Raheel K — Google review
Some very challenging hiking trails. Make sure you bring loads of water and a wide brimmed hat, because shade can be scarce. Some parts of the trail were quiet, mostly you could hear the highways.
Cam M — Google review
Kenna Cartwright Nature Park is a gem for anyone into hiking, biking, or just soaking up views. The trail network is huge, with options for all skill levels, and the scenery — especially at sunset — is unreal. You get panoramic views of Kamloops, the rivers, and even Kamloops Lake from some spots. It’s dog-friendly too, which is a bonus. Downsides? Some trails are poorly marked, so it’s easy to get turned around if you’re new. Also, parts of the park are pretty exposed, so bring water and sun protection. Still, it’s one of the best places in Kamloops to get outside and feel like you’re miles away from the city.
Riya S — Google review
This is the place to hike if you want an all-encompassing view of Kamloops from above. The trail doubles as a service road to the cellular towers on top of the mountain. Thus it is wide, smooth, and impossible to veer off course. The trail is very short but the gradient is steep all the way up the mountain. It's a hike that promises great rewards for little time and effort. Highly recommended.
Kevin L — Google review
Lots of trails to choose from, beautiful views. Glad I decided to try it out!

Park
Nestled in the heart of Kamloops, British Columbia, McArthur Island Park is a sprawling green oasis that beckons both locals and travelers to indulge in outdoor activities. Spanning over 51 hectares on McArthur Island along the North Thompson River, this park is a vibrant hub for sports enthusiasts and families alike. With its well-maintained baseball and soccer fields, as well as a skate park for thrill-seekers, there's no shortage of ways to stay active.
All parks should be 5 ⭐️ especially this one. Absolutely beautiful park on an island on the Thompson River. Great paved trail that completely circles the entire park. It’s about 3 km. There is lots of parking available and public washrooms also. Lots of green spaces. Lots of benches but no picnic tables. The park supports multiple sports ⚽️ ⚾️🏒🏏🛹🚴‍♂️🥏 also mini golf. Lots of wildlife 🦆🪿🦉🦇🐿️
Kirk D — Google review
Beautiful park for baseball and other activities. As we were there for a baseball tournament (considered an "event") so we were allowed to camp there at a cost of $16.50/night. Lovely facilities with a beautiful 3.2km path along the perimeter of the island. Washrooms and garbage kept up nicely.
Erin P — Google review
It's an island not a park. The design of the park is good. There are a few big sport fields around the road. If you are a visitor, you may drive a little half round of this island. There are many parking and washroom along the road. We go there in the late evening so we didn't see any wild life. If you have time, I think there are a good trail goes around the whole island. I see people using bikes to stroll around. It may take some time for a round stroll.
Wah Y — Google review
Safe, well maintained park I love coming to Mac Park for a morning blade. Beautiful venue for soccer and ball. Great paved running path. Hockey arena.
Writer L — Google review
Great location for sports. We've attended the BC youth rugby 7s tournament here the last 4 years. Super jealous that Kelowna doesn't have anything comparable. No wonder they call themselves the tournament capital! Good job, Kamloops:)
Matt F — Google review
This park’s a full-on activity hub. You’ve got soccer fields, baseball diamonds, a skatepark, disc golf, and even a big indoor sports centre. I liked the 3.1 km paved loop — great for walking or rollerblading, and it passes through some peaceful riparian areas with birdwatching spots. It’s family-friendly and well-maintained, with lots of free parking. Downsides? No dogs allowed, which might be a dealbreaker for some, and it can feel a bit too busy during tournaments or summer weekends. Some areas could use more shade or seating. Still, it’s one of the most versatile parks in town.
Joon C — Google review

BC Wildlife Park is a spacious zoo and rehabilitation center that houses a wide variety of animals native to British Columbia. The park is home to over 60 species, including grizzly bears, arctic wolves, black bears, bobcats, coyotes, and cougars. Many of these animals were orphaned or rescued. In addition to the diverse wildlife, the park features a gallery, educational exhibits, a Wildlife Education Center, gift shop, cafe, and outdoor playground.
The BC Wildlife Park in Kamloops is a truly special place that leaves you with a full heart. It’s more than just a zoo — it’s a rescue and rehabilitation center for animals native to British Columbia. Over 60% of the animals here have been rescued, and the park does an incredible job of educating and connecting people to wildlife and nature. You’ll see grizzly bears, arctic wolves, cougars, birds of prey, and more. There’s also a picnic area, a small water park for kids, a mini train ride, a gift shop, café, amphitheatre, and a petting zoo. It’s spacious, well-organized, and a perfect place for families or anyone who cares about animals and the environment. Highly recommended!
Anastasiya L — Google review
Visited in September. BC Wildlife Park was a sweet and memorable stop. Loved seeing the rescued animals—they looked safe and well cared for, which was really heartwarming. Owl Talk was a definite highlight! Getting up close to such a beautiful bird was amazing. The observation hive was super cool too. The spirit bear is the standout, but no luck spotting it this time. Still, a lovely visit overall.
Amy W — Google review
We had such an amazing time at BC Wildlife Park. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. Unfortunately, we missed the train ride, but there was still so much to see and enjoy. The park is very family-friendly, with great facilities for all ages. One highlight for me was seeing the cougar laying right at the gate, such a beautiful moment! Also, I absolutely loved the honey in the gift shop definitely worth picking up a jar.
Katie N — Google review
We absolutely love the place. They only have rescued animals and the have signs telling you the story of each animal plus really interesting facts about that animal species. We went in a hot sunny summer day so recommend to bring a hat and a ton of sun screen. The splash zone they have was a blast that gave us some relief from the hot weather. We were able to see so many animals (recommend checking the feeding schedule), we love the bears they have in particular the white one which is only found in BC. They have some timings for you to go a pet some goats and sheep they have, they even provide brushes which are like a spa for the animals, they love to be pet and are super friendly and cute
Carolina J — Google review
A bit disappointed by the facilities. Needs renovations. The train 🚂 was not running unfortunately. Off season prices too expensive. When we arrived at 10:30am there was almost no animals out it felt very strange, like an abandoned old zoo. Later on we saw more but some of the cages were not looking very clean. The birds section was great. It is nice to have the story of the rescue of each animal. They definitely should replace most of the fences by glasses. Not that much of “wild” animal.
Lou L — Google review
Visited BC Wildlife Park on Canada Day, and despite the hot weather, we had a wonderful time. We got to see a variety of animals, including the bear, which was a highlight. Though not as many animals as you'd expect from a zoo since this is wildlife refuge. The little train ride was a fun and relaxing way to explore the park, especially for kids. One of the best features on a hot day was the water sprinklers, the kids had a blast cooling off and running through them. The park is well laid out with shaded areas and great for families. A fun, educational, and refreshing day out, highly recommended!
Jas S — Google review
This is such an extraordinary place to go. There's a vast amount of things to learn, and Animals to see. It took about an hour to walk around the park, but was very easy for me even with a bad hip. The grizzlys were super interactive as well. Definitely worth the drive. I'll be coming back with my kids.
Paige D — Google review
We visited late on a hot July afternoon and only had 1.5 hrs to tour. As expected, it was hit and miss with seeing the animals in their enclosures, and at that time of day we had the park pretty much to ourselves. That said, everything appeared to be well laid out, well signed, and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the birds of prey exhibit, and noted there is a family farm where visitors can interact with farm animals. Judging from the sandwich board sign of the day’s activities it is better to arrive in the morning to take advantage of feedings and demonstrations.

I was visiting during my holidays, and had the most wonderful experience at the Kamloops Art Gallery. Not only did the manager engage in conversation with me, the rest of the staff were amazing and knowledgeable. Everyone was so friendly. The exhibits were well-organized, and helped inspire my next few art projects. Definitely recommend.

High quality gallery experience!! Loved the space and they always have beautiful exhibitions. All staff are exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. The gift shop is also a true gem - excellent variety and desirable products!
Mahlayah O — Google review
I was glad I took the time to go look around at their gallery. A lot of the artwork stood out from what I saw at other galleries. They had a lot of miniature sculptures, artbooks and pop-up art that is influenced by horror movies and obscured pop culture. The Kamloops Art Gallery is worth the $5 admission to see what they have on display and appreciate their work.

Terrible first experience ordering online from Kamloops Art Gallery. This item was mailed without any packing material to protect it in transit. The shipping box is intact. The item appears to have been packaged damaged. The return policy online states that they will gladly exchange a defective item. However, I've been informed that they do not extend this courtesy to sale items. It's inexcusable to package items so poorly and then pass the buck onto the customer, terribly disappointed.
Tiffany S — Google review
Posting April 2018. Currently there is an interactive exhibit, where you go in and draw a floor plan of any place you've lived in before, from memory only. There is a few couches in the back and a record player with a few LPs to listen to. A few books too. Thursdays are always free to the public, I will be bringing in my records every Thursday to listen and enjoy the art for the next few weeks.......

I went to the gallery to participate in one of the adult art workshops based on Kigusiuq’s Landscapes (one of the current exhibits). The art class included a tour with one of the staff members before the class. The art class was a great way to engage in the exhibit, and I had a lot of fun learning and creating. Jyelle (the workshop instructor) was a fantastic host. Definitely looking forward to participating in more of these workshops in the future!

Prince Charles Park is a favorite among families in Kamloops, offering something for everyone. The well-maintained equipment and splash pool make it an ideal spot for kids, while the presence of washrooms on site is a major convenience for parents. The park features benches for parents to relax and socialize while keeping an eye on their children. Additionally, the shallow pool is perfect for little ones to enjoy during the summer months.

Absolutely amazing park. Lots of great playground space to play, for kids of various ages and sizes. The splash park area was a favourite for our little guy. Great place to cool off on a hot day. The change rooms and bathroom were clean and easily accessible :)

We really enjoyed visiting this park! The Splash Pool was perfect for toddlers — our little one had such a great time playing there. The whole area felt very family-friendly and everything was clean and well maintained. Right next to the Splash Pool there’s also a playground, which was a great bonus for the kids. The park also has nearby restrooms and changing rooms, which makes it very convenient for families. On top of that, the grass and green areas were beautifully taken care of. Overall, it’s a lovely park and a great place to visit with children.
Fabian V — Google review
This is my son's absolute favorite park to go to in all if Kamloops it's great for all ages and has benches for parents to sit a watch their children and meet other parents. In the summer the pool is open and can get busy too it's shallow and perfect for little guys. There is a huge field to play sports in and puppet shows in the summer free of charge they're great to watch.
Ashley R — Google review
I pop into Prince Charles Park when I want a shady, family-friendly green space in town. The playground, seasonal wading pool and open lawn make it perfect for kids and casual picnics, and the walking paths are pleasant for a short, flat stroll. I liked the mature trees and how the park feels like a calm pocket amid the neighbourhood. Downsides: it can get noisy during community events and the wading pool season only runs in summer, so it’s less useful off-season. Some spots show wear and could use fresher benches and litter pickup on busy days. Overall it’s an easy, reliable local park for families and quick breaks.
Viktor B — Google review
nice water is tap cold. downside the changing room shelter does not have a washroom in it and only 1 wall no door for a "private stall" other wise its a open space. no lockers or drinking fountain. my son had fun. there is a park and its a shallow pool my 3 yr old can walk across. you need to bring your own water toys.

Overlanders Park, situated at the confluence of the North and South Thompson rivers on the North Shore in Kamloops BC, offers a spacious and dog-friendly beach area that becomes the largest in the city during summer. The park features various sports facilities including beach volleyball courts, tennis courts, and a bike path, as well as ample parking spaces. Visitors can enjoy water activities with their leashed dogs and access well-maintained restroom facilities. The park also hosts festivals and live music events.
Huuuge beach line and easy access to the river. Not too much of shade, however great place to spend time. River is shallow and cool. Good for playing with kids.

I popped by Overlanders Park for a beautiful morning sunrise. A nice beach to enjoy the relaxing river beach and wildlife in Kamloops.

Awesome beach, visited in the summer when the water was low and tons of sand and beach area. Great for dogs too!

Great park with many other beaches around. You can float the river as well and land at pinoeer or overlander. We are lucky to have these spots. Please keep dogs on leashes at the park and pick up after yourselves.

The beach is nice and long. The view is also great. Beach volleyball place is great if you have friends or family. But there is no children park which is shown in some of the pictures.

Peterson Creek Park is a serene and scenic park with elevated hiking trails that lead to small waterfalls. The 4.8-kilometer Tom Moore Loop Trail offers a moderately difficult hike starting from the south end of downtown, leading to the heart of the 100-hectare park. Families can enjoy picnics, BBQs, and leisurely strolls along the various trails while taking in beautiful viewpoints.
It's a great park in the city to do a quick hike. Some trails are narrow but challenging enough to have an adventure. Specially during the winter, you may need to be extra careful for the slipperyness. There are plenty of viewpoints to see the highway and the beige and the Thompson River valley. The park is accessible from many sides and one of the best views in the city. There are park bench on the top of the mountain.
Hiroshan G — Google review
I came to the park to go to the short hike (round trip 1.4km from the parking lot) and see the small waterfall. The end is slippery and muddy and may not be suitable for small children lots of different trails was able to take different trails there and back and could do it another time and take different ones again. Disappointing people have spray painted the waterfalls rocks. But overall nice. Could have been very icy if not for the nice weather last 2 days so be aware due to the canyon not a lot of sun.
Gr8t O — Google review
Peterson Creek Park deserves a solid 5-star rating for its proximity to downtown Kamloops and its wonderful trail options. Although the parking is limited, the park offers numerous well-marked, winding trails that are perfect for exploring. In the summer, the paths can be a bit dusty, but that doesn’t detract from the experience. The views of Kamloops and the valley from the park are beautiful and truly rewarding. It’s an ideal spot for trail running or just a leisurely hike to enjoy the natural surroundings. A must-visit for both locals and tourists seeking a quick escape into nature.

FUN! I have ALWAYS wanted to hike up in these trails, constantly driving on the Red Bridge looking in awe at the trails & people enjoying, but in all of my years never have until now. I was happy to be able to do so with my family as well. It wasn’t the easiest drive, at least the way google GPS took me, but we got there & tons of parking! We went for the waterfall, so we followed trail markers leading to it. We did ignore the signs of warning & knew the risks. We took the “easiest/safest” route & made it safely to/from. We were not disappointed & I am sure would be greater in size around spring, early summer. Definitely a lovely hike & easily managed by myself, my husband who is seeing impaired & our girls 10 & 12. We took one way to the falls & a different way back. All views lovely & we enjoyed the diversity of the vegetation we walked through. So glad we took the time. From parking lot to falls & back, 1 hour. Well maintained & super tidy. Graffiti is disappointing to see but what can one do. Enjoy your hike, be mindful of dangers & make choices appropriate to your abilities.

Beautiful scenic walk if you are able to hike or cycle on narrow paths...the main paved walking path is great for strollers and sharing the path. Dog friendly but seriously DOG Owners need to be responsible and pick up after their animals... the trail wreaks of dog feces on a warm day
Brenda D — Google review
Wow in downtown Kamloops! I have seen this waterfall while driving past on highway many times. I wanted to see it up close and so glad I finally did. There are paths to choose for all hiking abilities but they don't all show the fall. The trails throughout are well used. Take caution as some are very narrow, some steep with loose dirt/gravel or stairs.
Michelle — Google review
This place felt like a hidden gem in Kamloops. We stumbled upon it while driving around town. This park feels like it's in the middle of downtown Kamloops lol. I went here a handful of times after I found it until we moved from Kamloops. It's a very relaxing walk, my little doggo with luxating patella had no struggles going through it and you're rewarded with a little waterfall at the end! :)
Dwagonfwy — Google review
Great trail for family or individual hiking, the trails are categorized into 3 different difficulty depending on inclination. There is also a water fall but it is not part of the trail, you have to walk up a sketchy and kind of dangerous trail but it's worth the walk. The are a lot of entrance to the trail the 2 main ways are from downtown or from sahali secondary.

River Street Dog Park is a decently sized fenced park that offers a great spot for smaller or medium-sized dogs to play and have fun. The well-maintained grass provides a clean and comfortable environment, with access to water and even chuckit sticks available for use. While it may not be suitable for larger dogs that require more space to run, the friendly locals and convenient amenities make it a popular stop for travelers looking to let their furry companions stretch their legs.
Great little fenced dog park. One of my go to stops on road trips to let my guy stretch his legs. Poop bags and drinking water available on site. Friendly locals. Washroom for humans available close by at the Horseshoe Club. Not sure if they are public but they seem so.

Great dog park. Water bowls, fountains, tennis balls, can tell kamloops people love there dogs! Plus a gorgeous view. Really nice park. It was great for my roadtrip as he was able to stretch his legs and play like a madman. Beats walking by the hotels. Very nice park!

Reasonably sized, fenced dog park with water fountains, bowls, and hoses to fill paddling pools. Separate fenced area for small dogs. There are a few trees and benches; portable outhouse near the playground. But if you aren’t from here, it’s hard to figure out where to park and access (park along Howe St. and walk up the hill)! Needs better signage.

Paul Lake Provincial Park, just 30 minutes east of Kamloops, offers a picturesque setting for camping, hiking, and paddling. The park is surrounded by lush forests of Douglas fir, pine, and aspen. Visitors can paddle alongside the impressive 900-meter Gibraltar Rock or hike to its summit for stunning views of the lake. With over 7 kilometers of hiking trails through pine and aspen forests, the park also provides opportunities for camping, fishing, bird watching along the lakeshore.
We had heard mixed reviews of Paul Lake provincial park campground. I believe the management changed in the past few years. We loved our stay. Sites are very private, playground is great, and amenities are clean. Great biking nearby, check out the trails on trailforks. One thing to note is the boat ramp is for car top launching only, no trailers 😕.

Paul Lake Provincial Park, near Kamloops, BC, offers diverse hiking options. The Gibraltar Rock Trail is a moderately challenging 6.1 km hike with a 193-meter elevation gain, leading to stunning panoramic views of Paul Lake. For an easier option, the North Shore Trail provides a scenic walk along the shoreline, ideal for nature lovers. Visitors appreciate the park's natural beauty, well-maintained trails, and good camping facilities. It is a great destination for both casual walkers and avid hikers.
Houman H — Google review
A nice park however you can't swim in the lake due to algae...or swimmers itch🤔 Some nice trails in and around the park as well. We did enjoy kayaking one day too!
Lorinda C — Google review
Great family oriented campground We didn’t feel like we were piled up on top of each other, each site had its own space Friendly staff One sani dump available. Fee was $5. A bit of a technique to turn into sani dump area. It would be difficult if there were more than 3 trailers waiting. Paul Lake is great for kayaking. However wind did come up quick. We saw a ripe swing off a random part of shore that people were using. Camp ground is not located by the water but in very close proximity.
Kim P — Google review
Beautiful lake. Nice campground. The campsites are far enough apart that you don't feel like you're sharing your campsite with your neighbors. The pads are fairly level compact gravel that can be a bit difficult to get tent stakes into. Sites have fire ring and picnic table. Vault toilets and water near sites, and flush toilet bathrooms near the lake. The camp host (Doug) is an awesome person who went out of his way to help by providing me with a battery charger and drove me to where there was power to charge my motorcycle battery when its charging system quit working. There's a dock on the lake for fishing, and a swimming area. Good campground that's' not far from Kamloops.
Scooter T — Google review
Windy, rainy but neat, pretty and beautiful
Manushi S — Google review
Beautiful recreation site, with a boat launch, and lots of picnic tables by the lake. There's a clearly marked trail that climbs gradually up to Gibraltar Rock; it's accessible in both summer and winter, which provides scenic views of the valley and lake below. The trail runs through the forest and is relatively easy, provided one wears runners or hiking footwear.
Jeffrey M — Google review
About 20 minutes' drive from Kamloops. The drive itself is beautiful. The turn off to the lake comes quickly so keep your eyes peeled for the brown "Paul Lake" sign on the right. The road to the campground and lake parking lot is narrow and very twisty: go slow. Soon you will get to a huge parking lot that stretches all the way to the east Gibraltar Rock trailhead, a short but demanding trek to a stunning view! The lake is usually calm. Not a lot of sand and mostly grassy banks. The far east side is a dog area, with a fenced-off bulrush area where frogs can be heard. You may also see a loon or two. Along the shoreline are endless piles of dried and partially dried Canada goose poo. For this reason, I'd recommend water socks or sandals and don't touch the poo. Inside the water, the bottom is soft and mucky for a while. This is why, in my opinion, Paul Lake is better for paddling or floating and also that signs have been posted warning of swimmer's itch (use waterproof sunscreen, take a shower after, avoid shoreline, etc.). Overall very nice lake, lots of picnic tables, in-ground bbq grills, green grass, easy enough to get to, peaceful, with walking/hiking trails and an area to take your dog.

West Highlands Park Loop is a 1.8-kilometer paved trail located in a suburban neighborhood, offering pleasant views of the city lights after sunset. The well-lit path is popular among locals for walking their dogs, jogging, or enjoying a leisurely stroll. The park is wheelchair accessible and family-friendly, with well-maintained facilities including a playground. However, it can get crowded at times and visitors should be prepared for potential traffic when leaving the area.
Quick paved walk. Well lit for evening walks. Fabulous views over the city. A couple of bins with bags supplied to dispose of your dog’s waste, consequently the path is clean. Can get slippy in snowy/icy conditions but it’s generally pretty well manicured in all conditions.
Clare W — Google review
Overall a good park with easy, accessible path around what use to be the old golf course. Lit up at night, some dark spots though and Parks department does clear the snow in the winter. Only negative is that too many people treat this as an off-leash dog park... This isn't the case. Dogs are required to be on-leash at all times.
Bryce C — Google review
Fantastic park. Great soccer fields, pond, playground and the trail we make use of often. The clubhouse has washrooms (very clean and tidy) which is great in a potty training emergency! Bring water, it gets hot in the summer walking the trail. Well kept in the winter if you like a good brisk walk.
E A — Google review
Park was clean and well maintained. The traffic was horrifying when we were all trying to leave so it would be smart to either be the first one out, or be willing to wait it out for like an hour. But that isn't the parks fault so only minus one star for that 😅 not super planning on the soccer associations part but now we know!

Is very specious. God love to run and play here. I just don’t like how muddy it can get when it rains (at the gate entrance) and at the dog water area. But over all, it’s a great place to bring your dog to play.
Ana S — Google review
Great dog park plenty of room for dogs to roam and a nice walking path around the outside edge. Most folks are aware of dog dynamics and don't get carried away over a little posturing. I'm not suggesting it's a place for aggressive not trained dogs however the owners seem to be more understanding of how dogs interact with each other than in some of the smaller more fancy suburban dog parks. That allows only doodle-crossed or golden retrievers amongst miniature breads.
Shea D — Google review
Nice to see this park open again. The park boasts a huge grass area for your puppies to frolic about. Some trees nicely spaced to provide a little shade when needed and even a place to explore. There is also a raised walking path the runs the perimeter so that you can get your steps in while other dogs enjoy the grass area. Complimentary doggy poop bags, a doggy fountain and even a few benches for owners to take a rest stop. The park is completely fenced and includes a double gate vestibule for entry/exit to prevent any possible accidently escapes. Plenty of parking too. The only thing that would make this park perfect is a porta potty for the humans.
Robert H — Google review
Fantastic open huge dog park. 2 acres thereabouts. Google gets you there. My Garmin GPS, going by the address listed, took me to...not the park. I'm glad I tried Google! There's a porta potty at the entrance, which is thoughtful. A nice walking circuit around the upper perimeter. The only thing is if your dog doesn't have good recall, it will be difficult to catch it, as there's so much room to full on run. One guy was trying to leave for 45 mins lol
Meme M — Google review
My go to off-leash area for a quick or medium length dog run. Water station, benches around the outside, secure fencing, nighttime lighting, lots of parking, lots of local dog owners. There is a portapotty (haven’t used it and can’t comment on its condition) Conditions get wet in the spring, but the snow melt dries relatively quickly and only a small mud patch remains until summer hits.

Dog park
Juniper Dog Park is a small, fenced grassy enclosure with benches for owners to relax while their dogs play. It's not usually crowded and has two nearby parking lots. The park provides a great opportunity for dogs to exercise and socialize, with water available in warmer months. Additionally, there are trails around the park for regular walks and poop bags are conveniently located at the entrance.
It’s small, but tons of trails around for a regular walk. And having water for the dogs (in warm months anyway) is an idea all parks should copy.
Grant M — Google review
It's a busy park, the best time to visit is between 1 and 3 pm. After that it gets a bit hectic. I have a Chihuahua and he's a bit out of place there, most larger dogs, but the owners are respectful.
Jennifer — Google review
This is a great place to exercise your dog. We were staying at a local hotel that was pet friendly without an area for our dog 🐕 to go. All of the locals were very nice, and friendly.
Tyler S — Google review
It used to be a decent park but now it's basically first time owners Bringing their 6 month old golden retriever pup jumping on everyone " ow we don't believe in traing" single growl from any dog that doesn't have doodle in its name. you get some owner running over trying to scold the dog for flipping the golden after it tried to mount the dog that warned it with the growl. The funny thing is, dogs sort it out if u let them. It's easy to tell if a fight breaks out, but generally dog wrestles the other just with paws ands barking they separate and often the younger dog will back for more. Then u need to know if your dog is likely to escalate or just sorta show the dog the ropes. What you get at this park is these first time overprotective owners running over getting ready to punt someone's dog my dog has never bit a dog it'll flip it growl at it then let it up 9x out of 10 the dogs back for more that's how dogs work things out if they start biting that's way different but boisterous rough housing if the dogs don't like it they separate and go about there buisness. But people shouldn't bring untrained dogs to the park or realize their there to socialize and learn the difference between an aggressive dog and one that's just showing the younger dog some proper behavior and yes some dogs your PitBulls and Sheppards as well as rotties can have that bully bread temperament. It's rare that most breads can't over come these tendencies with proper consistent training. All breads will have hyper aggressive and hyper docile dogs making a bell curve inbetween. Its just noticed a whole lot more when its an aggressive dopermen, and if that's the case and they have a record of biting dogs and possibly humans then there's the otherside where maybe the park isn't the right place. But the fact is golden retrievers have the most bites, but a pitbulls bite is gunna cause more damage. People just need to educate themselves on dogs body language and whether the park is best suited for owners who know their dogs best ( implying of course that they should, not always the case unfortunately.) On that note, it would be nice to see people doing there best not to judge a dog by its colors or breed but by its behaviour and remember they are dogs don't expect perfection. If the worst should happen coolest heads always prevail. It almost always looks (and sounds) way worse then it is.

Great for the most part! I avoid after a rain though as it can get quite muddy in there. Right next to Valleyview Nature Park which is also awesome for hiking :)
Lindsay B — Google review
Nice park. Totally fenced in with double gate mechanism. Usually pretty clean. Water available in warmer months, sometimes in the colder ones. A couple benches to sit on. My dog sure loves it!
Devon B — Google review
Wasn't too crowded, but it was overcast when I went with the my grandmother's pooch. But very much a small, gated, grassy enclosure with benches for owners to sit at. Two parking lots nearby for parking your vehicles. Not much to write home about, but it gets the dog out and his legs stretched and gets the job done.
Charcoal — Google review
Choose your times wisely, as there is many dog owners who have zero control over their dogs at this location. Overall a decent location is it not too busy.

Dallas-Barnhartvale Nature Park offers a beautiful trail network suitable for hiking, biking, and even horseback riding. The main trail provides an easy walk through grassy pine woods and ranch land, leading to a plateau with stunning views of the valley. Visitors can spot wildlife such as deer, chipmunks, waterfowl by the pond, and even moose near the ponds. While walking along the Dallas ridge, hikers can enjoy breathtaking views of the South Thompson River and valley.
This park is a great place to walk for you and furry little ones there is poop bags available at the gate just beware very slippery in winter and in the summer bears because it's located by the barharvale dump and no it doesn't smell like garbage it's far enough away. A lot of hill climbs but nothing too crazy. We take this hike every week my son and husband and I and our 2 dogs on leashes it's great for a family day just drive slow it's located by residents with small children playing nearby just to warn everyone.

Me, my daughter and 4 grandkids and our 2 dogs were just at this park and were attacked by an aggressive cow who had 2 babbies. There was no sign that said there were aggressive cows in the park. The sign said there may be horses trail riding. Thats all. But we were attacked and barely got out without bring stomped... who is responsible for the cows? I have a video of this. I want compensation for this. It did not say anywhere on the brochure that aggressive cows are at large...
Gold D — Google review
Beautiful area for walking with trails long enough to follow for an hour or perhaps two. Lots of wildlife including deer, chipmunks, waterfowl (by the pond), birds, and insects. The main trail follows down from a grassy pine wood, past some ranch land, down to a plateau, covered in sagebrush, overlooking the valley which offers a nice view of the sunset. The main trail is fairly wide with moderate grade — easy walking. There's an outhouse at the trailhead / parking lot.

A beautiful trail network on both flats and hills, with big wide views along ridges. Keep young children and dogs close on the ridge trails as it is a very big drop. Trails in places, particularly the wider ones, are rutted from use when wet (please avoid when wet to help prevent.) Great for hiking, biking and you'll see horses too.

Desolate, lonely, empty, amazing. The road is not paved for 90% of the time, but instead is of loose gravel so keep that in mind if your car is not good for driving on loose gravel. Also, drive slow, loose gravel is slippery! The desertification of Kamloops is very real these days and this place is uber dry.

Absolutely delicious, large portions, and loads of vegan options. But be careful! Their 6/10 spice level is what most restaurants would call a 15!!!! I love spice, but wish I had ordered a 3/10 spice level for my Sichuan noodles. I actually just ordered the same dish but with Teriaki sauce so I can mix them and hopefully be able to eat it without crying LOL

I really enjoyed the food here despite what some are saying apparently. Didn't get too wild or crazy and try something I normally wouldn't like though! I had the Teppan Stir Fry Noodle - Teriyaki and asked for the udon noodles as they are my favourite and they delivered!! They weren't overcooked or mushy but just the right texture and flavour. Plus a good portion size 😋 My mother had the wonton soup and loved it. Every bite was gone! Plus it's been a few hours after and we are still full and yet having no tummy issues. A bit salty but all Chinese food is! Just makes me drink more water 😂 The only thing I would say I had an issue with was the cleanliness of the area. Looked like the floor needed a dusting and a mop and some fresh paint. Otherwise I will go back 👍

I like the food so much! It's delicious and tasty. The price also affordable and you can get 4 items combo just for $14.99. The fried rice is just right. The chicken also very crunchy, meanwhile the spicy Szechuan beef is tender and not too spicy. The mixed vegetables are fresh too. Meanwhile, the mapo tofu is soft. The cashier and the chef are also friendly. I really suggest you to come here since it's really worth it.

Looking at the reviews on here, I’m shocked that so many people have said they enjoyed the food and the food was great compared to the experience I had I ordered the Chinese Ramen and some Dumplings The dumplings had a taste that I couldn’t get out of my mouth for about 24 hours. I don’t know if it was the way they were cooked or the food itself. The Chinese Ramen noodles were a mixture between rubber and plastic consistency and did not taste good There was way too much chicken meat on the Ramen And it looked like it was pickled meat with a slightly greenish colour and it didn’t look like cut up pieces of chicken. It looked odd. I had to walk out after one or two bites of the soup and after a few of the dumplings, and realizing the taste was so strong the first time I’ve ever left my food at a restaurant and walked away

Tournament Capital Ranch is a family-friendly sports facility with well-maintained fields and beautiful views. It offers a great place for ball tournaments and provides a kids' playground. The clean washrooms and porta-potties add to the convenience, although some visitors find the concession stand overpriced for the quality of food. With ten manicured grass fields, including night lights, it's an ideal spot for baseball and soccer tournaments.
Great place to play or watch Ball tournaments, has a kid's playground, family-oriented beautiful fields, and views, it's clean and well maintained. Washrooms and porta-poties are also clean and maintained, which is nice. So does not having to walk from the far fields to the main washrooms just for a quick pee. My only complaint is the concession stand and how insanely overpriced it is for the quality of the food. If there is a food truck on site or near I highly advise purchasing food or drink through them.

Beautiful venue, but the parking is terrible. Not enough to accommodate people who are participating in events, especially for those who have traveled from out of the city. Also, they need to have consistency in their security personnel. We came into the venue for the 8:30 am curling draw with our travel mugs with no issue. But later in the day, we came back with coffee cups and could not bring them in. We were not impressed by this.

Great venue with advanced and new facilities, all well-maintained. The downside is the lack of a surfing pool, and there is only one water slide. The 200-meter indoor track is excellent, and the ventilation system works well, so it's not too hot in the summer. It would be even better if there were some grassy areas nearby for resting.
Gary W — Google review
1st time here. Whoaa... this centre really gets full, especially in the hot summer days and when there's a competition. It's really good to call in first as what they advised on the website. Nice hot tubs, but it doesn't get hot that much. Nice big dry and wet sauna. I like that it has separate showers. Receptions are patiently helpful 🙏🏻. I like the ambiance and cleanliness. Keep it up and appreciate it 🙏🏻
A C — Google review
The swimming pool side is a dump, most lockers don't work , the hand washing faucet are loose. Also in the changing rooms the place to hang your clothes is broken or loose. Showers are always cold takes a while to get any hot water. I think the city kamloops needs to re-evaluate there maintenance staff and do more walk through . I would be embarrassed to have a city building in that situation.
Josh — Google review
Older facility, needs to be upgraded. Way to small for a city of Kamloops size. Parking is terrible, need a parade to supply adequate parking.
Norm T — Google review
3 stars just because of the washroom Pool I saw that needs to change pool tiles.(Kids side) Change rooms (family room) needs tiles upgrade too.

Great pool. Loved the diving boards and 5 m platform. Hot tub was PACKED the entire time. Never had a chance to sqeeze in there. The sauna was nice though. Lots of lockers out of service/broken. Still managed to find a functional one though, despite it being somewhat busy.

The trail provides stunning views of the city and river valley below, making it an ideal adventure for those seeking fresh air and exercise. It is approximately a 15-minute drive from Kamloops Airport and takes about an hour and a half to complete, allowing hikers to enjoy the panoramic view at the top.
Beautiful trail , proper signs , Beautiful wildlife ,saw variety of birds including bald eagle , view at the top is stunning

It’s wonderful hike, with only one incredibly steep section, and fun rock climbs! Amazing views of Kamloops lake, and less views of the bluff actually! Be careful where you park as we parked on glass and nails though.
F H — Google review
Spectacular views of Kamloops. Worth visiting. Went with an 11-year-old child; sometimes she feels tired, but in general, it’s an easy hike.
Anastasiya L — Google review
I nice, casual hike just west outside of Kamloops BC is Battle Bluffs overlooking Kamloops Lake. The trails are easy to follow and are marked all the way up. It's a linear trail ( there and back ) but there are offshoots that will take you down to the lake. It's a great place to have a picnic with some great views.
GOKUS — Google review
Awesome Hike! Some places are steep but totally worth the view! 2hours in total for back and forth.
Smy T — Google review
Fantastic hike that's close to home. About a 20-25 minute drive from downtown gets you to the trailhead. The hike itself is about a 1.5 hour trek, but expect a bit more time if you hang out at the top (which you probably will). There is an old car to look at about 1/3 into the hike and the hike itself is fairly light up and downs until it gets to the actual hill/mountain at which point it gets fairly steep for about 1km. Overall a great, moderate and quick hike.

Great place for an afternoon hike located minutes outside town. Great mix of inclines and the trail is well marked. View from the top was absolutely worth it!

Lovely peaceful place to reconnect with nature. Kids will definitely love the play area.

What a beautiful walk with the family through small ponds and a flowing small creek with small birds singing, ducks a quacking and squirrels looking for a light snack.
Ron V — Google review
it’s actually a pretty sweet little hidden gem way off the beaten path never would’ve found it without my bosses knowledge. It’s got a closed in sports arena with covered seating a small amount but still it’s there. There’s basketball hoops in there. You can shut the doors and rollerblades in there pretty much do a lot of things in it. There’s also a bathroom. It’s like house style cement walls. You just call the city and I’ll come and do it, it’s a good place to collect bottles to return usually a new pile every day 😁. there’s a small playground swings couple of benches and shade beautiful little park. The thing is very hot in the summer so bring lots of ice water but it’s really not that far from Costco in Dairy Queen there are options!!!
Chelsea W — Google review
I went here with my partner I loved it here . We came to geocash and the fall scenery was amazing
Anita B — Google review
One of the nicest green spaces in the city. From bird and nature watching to the abundant walking trails, this park is a hidden gem. Play court with basketball 🏀 and hockey 🏒 nets, play ground and toilet facilities. Stadium type lighting for when the sun goes down.

Love this park!! It is always well maintained!! The best thing is your kids can play and you can bring your dig(on a leash and not in the actual area the kids play in). You can walk around the pond. We bring bird seed to feed the ducks. It’s really a nice place to go!
Michelle L — Google review
Really nice neighbourhood park. Playground is great for kids. The box is awesome all year long - basketball, lacrosse, and street hockey in summer and ice hockey in winter. Also a wonderful variety of walking, hiking and biking trails in all directions.

Aviation Way Dog Park is a charming park located in Brocklehurst, just off Tranquille Rd near Kamloops Airport. The park offers ample parking and a pleasant off-leash walking loop of about 4KM with access to a sandy beach when the river is low. It features amenities such as benches, poop bags, and an outhouse. Additionally, the area provides stunning sunset views and a long river trail for leisurely walks.
On your way out of town, the last street going left before the airport. Best place for sun set seeing. It has also a long river trail that goes several km west and when the river is low, access to the river bed that looks like a giant beach. Not so much about the dog park but the area is surreal
Martino V — Google review
Overall could use a few more trees for hot summer months to create shade. Get a little muddy in the spring time. Still a great place for dogs to run off leash and free water in the summer for poochies
Rob F — Google review
I bring my dog to the walk loop weekly! It's a great off leash walk with a beautiful loop that is about 4KM of flat path and access to the sandy beach when the river is low. The park at the beginning of aviation way is pretty sizeable, has a water source, benches, poop bags and an outhouse. Lots of parking as well.
Darlene S — Google review
Lots of great opportunities for dog to sniff and play.. Currently we only go when its empty, or if there are dogs inside we just stay on outside for through fence interactions
Amy C — Google review
Friendly dogs, attentive owners who pick up (always appreciated).
Elly D — Google review
It's a great place to take your dog. Lots of dogs without decent recall go here, lots of burrs once you get to the field. Watch out for cacti off the path as well! Best to go on cold days or earlier in the day as it can get quite busy when it's nice out!
Richard F — Google review
The park is nice. Not as large as the old park but it was nice to see dog owners that didn't just leave their dogs in the park and sit in the car. I had quit going to the old park because my dog was being attacked by intact makes constantly while their owners were in their cars. This was a pleasant experience and I will go again.

Valleyview Centennial Park is a charming spot for families, offering hiking trails and the picturesque Gibraltar Rock. The park features a well-kept ground with opportunities to see people riding horses in the paddock. Visitors can enjoy a large field, lacrosse box, swings, and shaded picnic areas. Additionally, there's a covered patio with picnic tables for relaxation. However, it's important to note that dogs are not allowed in the park.
Great Park has a full soccer pitch, restrooms, and a community hall. A multi-purpose sports enclosure for ball hockey, lacrosse, and basketball. It also is attached to an elementary school which has a full playground and grass field suitable for Frisbee, baseball, football other games that need a soft landing. Plus there is free parking surrounding the entire place. I guess the only thing is during school hours the playground and second field would be used by the staff and students. However, I suppose that's a plus if you have school-aged kids and looking to move into the area.

Uma S — Google review
Nice park. Large field and a Lacrosse box with a couple swings shaded by large trees. It helps that there is a good sized playground at the school next door with another large field and some mature trees. This park itself is not overly large and I would recommend visiting on a weekend in order to use the playground at the school.

Nice park with a picnic shelter containing 4 tables. Next to a soccer field. Well kept outside area. Also has washrooms. Only downside is no dogs allowed.

Great little park has a hobby farm attached close by, not very well kept. The park itself is close to the river with some hiking trails attached along side it. Sometimes people are riding horses in the paddock. Grounds are very well kept looks sharp and pristine. Very worth while the stop. Although beginning of spring and winter are not as nice.

While the parking area may need improvement, the park's lush greenery, shade-providing trees, water faucets for dogs, and friendly atmosphere make it an enjoyable place to visit.
Fun, clean and has seating. Our dogs are always happy when we get there. The grass is very healthy. Nice and plushy. There is also a trail( well pathway ) if you prefer to just walk.

This is a top tier dog park. Green and irrigated so the ground is nice on their tappy toes. It's also has a dedicated water area for the their thirsty tongues. Finally there are also some good shade trees for their satisfied siestas. A very good dog park for the doggos. Humans have an acceptable seating area and a good distance for throwing. My experience at this park has been all pretty well behaved dogs as well. Cant go wrong with a regular visit to this park!
E. K — Google review
Small, completely fenced urban dog park. Good for a roadside stop off. Friendly people and dogs and some giant rubber water dishes. Not a ton of space but it was decently clean. Heads up this park would be super muddy after rain.
Brenna M — Google review
It's a nice spacious dog play area with bathrooms available. There are picnic tables in the dog play area, so it's a perfect spot to eat lunch while your pup goes for a run/play. The only thing robbing it of 5 stars is the parking area, which desperately needs to be paved (it can be a bumpy/muddy mess).

Nice views, a nice hike. A little nature hike in the mist of suburbia. Nice open space for the kids to run or the pups to play.
