Hiking area
F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm, located in Akron and part of the Summit Metro Parks system, is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts. The realm features three trails, two ponds, a rock and herb garden, and a visitor center with seasonal exhibits and live native animals. The stunning landscapes and stone paths create a fairy tale-like ambiance where animals roam freely. The nature center serves as a museum showcasing local wildlife.
Beautiful and easily travelled paths. Brought my 74 year old mother (with bad knees) and she was able to enjoy the walk with us. Beautiful scenery and tons of flora and fauna to enjoy. Restrooms are good and come in handy. Definitely recommend for a lovely hike through nature for people with many levels of physical ability.
Gabrielle L — Google review
Absolutely beautiful place. The nature center is really cool. Would highly recommend for younger children. Has a cute little gift shop inside. The hike is beautiful especially if you love birds.
Tiffiane G — Google review
Such a lovely little park that takes you from normal city life straight into a relaxing, calming nature realm that’s great for the entire family. There’s multiple trails, a rock and herb garden, and the nature center is really cool! For kids and adults both!
Julia W — Google review
Amazing place to take the family. And for free! We saw over 8 different nature critters/animals in our first visit. Some are shown in pictures. Beautiful botanicals to teach children about as well. Huge trail looped in with smaller ones in the case of wanting to cut it short. Highly recommend.
Ally C — Google review
Great hiking trails that are not to hard. Path leads to nearby Sand Run park for extra hiking miles and jogging. Lost of close and people friendly wildlife like ducks, birds and squirrels.
Rich K — Google review
Been to this park many times. It is so beautiful and so peaceful. I can close my eyes and see myself as a young boy. It is great to take my kids here and see them doing the same things I did.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting F.A. Sieberling Nature Realm with a diverse group of hikers, aged 6, 40, and 63, and I can confidently say that this place is a gem for nature lovers of all ages! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the cleanliness of the facilities and the well-maintained trails. The indoor nature center was a highlight of our visit — it was not only informative but also beautifully designed, providing a perfect introduction to the local flora and fauna. The staff inside were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, offering us valuable insights about the area and making our experience even more enjoyable. The hiking trails offered a great variety of difficulty levels, making it accessible for everyone in our group. The paths were well-marked and easy to navigate, allowing us to explore at our own pace. We found ourselves captivated by the scenic spots along the trails, where we had the chance to view an array of wildlife. It was a delight to see birds and other creatures in their natural habitat, which truly enhanced our outdoor adventure. Overall, F.A. Sieberling Nature Realm is a fantastic destination for families and nature enthusiasts alike. Whether you're young or young at heart, this beautiful nature preserve has something for everyone. I highly recommend a visit — we can't wait to return!

Absolutely beautiful and wonderful place to take a walk and take a hike. Even has a little gift shop on the trail. Only thing I would say is be careful, aside from the gift shop I did not find any public bathroom!?!?

Fort Island / Griffiths Park is a top choice for families due to its focus on safety and on-site activities. The playground is enclosed by fences and the Nature Resource Center, ensuring children remain within view. With play structures catering to different age groups, the park offers a clean and secure environment with various amenities such as tennis and basketball courts, walking trails, shaded seating, restrooms, and water fountains. Additionally, it serves an essential role in water drainage while preserving historical artifacts like arrowheads.
Fort Island Park is a clean, safe park with some great amenities. The nature center is really cool and has a lot of fun, free programs for kids. There are four tennis courts, two basketball courts, a small field to play in, and a long hiking path that goes into the woods and through a swampy area on a wooden walkway all the way to the highway (just visible through the trees in one of the photos of the forest. A real hidden gem!
Robert K — Google review
Great day to visit a new park and it was great! Nice, clean, well maintained playground equipment. It’s fenced in nicely for us parents who have wandering children! Ha! It has a nice amount of places to sit. Overall, nice place! We will be back for sure!
Sara B — Google review
I really love this park. My mom found it for me and my daughter. My daughter is on the spectrum and she can be a little accident prone or clumsy but she always stays stimulated when we're there. She loves going inside and watching the fish and she also loves playing on the playground and it's something that you can make an all-day thing. You can bring a picnic and there's also an open field for them to run in. It's just really fun and safe away from the road
Heather G — Google review
This is a great park! Almost completely fenced in so that makes it easier to take multiple children there. They recently put some new viewing benches in which are nice too. There is a Nature Center there which is also fun to look through and it's where the bathrooms are. If it's not open for some reason, unfortunately you have to walk across to the other side of the tennis courts to the porta potties. Overall great equipment, even my 1 1/2 year old son loves climbing up the ladders and going down the slides (they aren't too fast, except the tornado slide).
Lucas M — Google review
Spectacular park providing important services to the surrounding community. It has tennis/basketball courts, full-size playground, shaded seating, restrooms, water fountains, and plenty of walking trails. It is essential for water drainage, and acts as a buffer next to the highway. In past times, arrowheads and other relics have been found here.
Jonathan B — Google review
This park is a clean park with a lot to do for everyone. There is a nature center with free programs for kids. There are four tennis courts, two basketball courts, an open-field and hiking paths. Some paths go through the woods and around a swampy area. There is also a wooden walkway that runs to the highway, and criss crosses all through the park. A lot of bridges and places to stop along the way. One thing is that the trail to the Marsh is only an out and back and does not loop around.
Dave — Google review
A great park! The playground area is fenced and the equipment is varied. Lots to climb and several slides for kids to use. The hiking trails are gorgeous, all planked boardwalks along a creek. Lots of history to read about along the way!
Kristen E — Google review
is a lovely natural area with well-maintained trails, great for hiking and birdwatching. It features peaceful green spaces, a small creek, and spots that are perfect for family outings or simply relaxing in nature. It’s not a huge park, but its quiet atmosphere makes it a special place to get away from the city.

Sand Run Metro Park is a favorite among naturalists for its wetland, which is perfect for watching salamander migrations. The park features a 3-mile stone-dust walking/running trail that's great for jogging, dog walking, and pushing a stroller. It also offers opportunities for sledding and skating in the winter. Visitors can enjoy well-marked trails with diverse scenery including greenery and waterways, making it an ideal spot to hike, play, and relax.
I visit Sand Run almost daily to get a photo of this same bench. I’ll compile the pics into a collage a year’s worth of shots of the same glorious spot. Find the bench, read the beautiful attribute & you too will find one of the gems CVNP has to offer.

Shady Hollow Lodge was perfect! Small intimate lodge that holds 40 guests. Large kitchen, great restrooms, beautiful round wood tables on wheels 😉, wood burning fireplace. Outdoor patio was awesome with seating and space for corn hole, games, etc. Everyone had a great time. Highly recommend!!
Jennifer R — Google review
I can't say enough positive things about this park. It's such a a beautiful area. Trails are mostly natural or stone in places and very well maintained. Trails range from short to very long with multiple ways to connect . Several nice picnic areas available. Only down side is the noise from road traffic and surrounding neighborhood but still highly worth it. There is also a multipurpose trail that runs alongside the road.
S H — Google review
Very well maintained. Walk the paths and trails, enjoy the many botanical and horticultural features. Stop at the gift shop and visitors center for clean restrooms and some birding at the viewing window.
Rick W — Google review
Really enjoyed our walk today. The trails are nice, clean and paths are clear for the most part. There were several fallen branches, but my kids had fun picking them up and I'm sure the runners were appreciative of that. Scenery is always beautiful in the Metro Parks and we were able to capture some of it.
Brittany R — Google review
One random day we used the grill outside of Shady Hollow Lodge! Fortunately it wasn’t rented!! Worked well, we brought charcoal and cleaned up afterwards. There is a smell coming from the grate - and ranger came up and said it was probably sewage.. that made us feel better, thought maybe it was a dead body haha
Josh L — Google review
Good trails, with a lot of greenery and also water. A good park to spend time at, hike , play and have fun. Walking in water along with trails is highly enjoyable. Some times even get to see a tortoise, as posted in the pictures :P Always a fun spot and will be glad to visit again.

Hardesty Park is a charming neighborhood playground surrounded by large elm trees that provide ample shade for the newly renovated play area. The park features swing sets and three play structures with various entertaining elements such as monkey bars, climbing structures, teeter totters, trapeze rings, and multiple types of slides. Visitors can also join in the foam-fighting game called Belegarth on Sundays at 1pm. Additionally, the park offers paved walking trails and limited parking.
This park is a vibrant community hub that attracts a diverse range of people. With regular events happening every week, it's a great place to enjoy quality time with friends and family. We've had many memorable experiences here.
Ishmael — Google review
This is a very nice neighborhood park. It has a playground for children and paved walking trails. There is limited parking in the park. On the day that we visited there was a food truck festival and extra cars were being parked on the grass.
James T — Google review
Our family really enjoys the park because it has plenty of options for all.
Okema W — Google review
Really nice park with a great okay area. It's especially set up well for events like the Akron food truck fest where this picture was taken. It's clean and well tended and genuinely a good place to visit
Brook R — Google review
We were there for the Dog Fest, it was smaller than previous years but still fun
Jeanne S — Google review
First time visiting this park since Ive moved here. Was doing laundry at the laundromat and decided to wait it out at the park. Very nice park with a nice playground and lots of green space to run and play football, etc...... today was a Saturday and the bathrooms were locked and the port a potty was disgusting with a urine soaked floor, trash and beer cans thrown inside. There was a lot of children and families here today and I don't know what they are going to do if a child needs to use the restroom. Shame on Akron if this is your norm for this park.
Teeah L — Google review
Its so relaxing! This park makes sense if u know what I mean lol not sure if I do. But it makes so much sense. It has something for everyone!

East Liberty Park, nestled near Twinsburg, is a sprawling 3,000-acre natural haven managed by Summit Metro Parks. This expansive park offers a wealth of opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike. Visitors can enjoy well-maintained basketball courts and tennis facilities, perfect for some friendly competition. The small yet charming playground features slides and swings that keep kids entertained while parents relax nearby.
Small little playground. Enough to keep kids entertained though. It has a couple slides a few small swings and some random things for them to climb on. Also has a basketball court, baseball field and a tennis court. One thing I liked about this park is the public restrooms and water fountain. It also has a covered gazebo. The gazebo has information if you would like to reserve. There is also a special bench next to the playground with a small box of books that you can sit and read. I thought this was really cool. My kids spent about 45 minutes to an hour at this location playing.
Kenneth F — Google review
Nice well kept overall park. Basketball Courts and hoops are kept in excellent condition. Small playground area, but has everything a kid would want to play on and have fun. Nice walking path to take dogs on a walk. There is bathrooms and they r also well kept. Playground area gets crowded peak summer time but the parking lot is huge so no congestion coming in or out. You can rent the pavilion for a great price for B-Day parties or other gatherings. Just an overall clean, safe park.
BeastRob36 — Google review
It's a nice park with a wide array of various equipment. My child won't go on the tallest slide, but likes the others. He also doesn't prefer the climbing toys, but he does love the fake car, pretending to drive my wife and I or other kids around on it. Mostly other families playing there are nice, but sometimes you do get some more aloof people who don't want their kids playing with any other children.
Franklin R — Google review
We rented a pavilion here it is a wonderful Park very clean bathrooms are amazing we will be back
Brian — Google review
Very nice well maintained park. There’s a playground, pavilion for rent, basketball courts, restroom facilities, baseball fields, and tennis courts.
Kelsey H — Google review
Great place to play basketball. Id use the playground ( I still would ) but I'll confess I'm getting to old for that. They have a very good bathroom right outside of the basketball courts with a drinking fountain. There is also a two great kept baseball fields. The place is great no negative complaints.

Copley Community Park, a hidden gem established in 2006, offers an array of amenities for visitors. The park features two spacious playgrounds designed for different age groups and a serene lake inhabited by turtles, swans, ducks, and fish. Additionally, the park boasts wooded areas, off-trail paths, grass fields, an exercise area, and shelters for gatherings.
Love this great addition provided by Copley’s community. This park contains a playground, soccer/baseball field, skating grounds, sledding hill, open fields, a variety of hiking trails, and a pond. There’s enough parking to throw three graduation or holiday parties. People occasionally feed the fish and ducks near the pond, so expect a group of fish to gather once you get close by. Also, no swimming or fishing in the pond, and pick up after pets. All in all, great place for some sports, leisure, or quiet time.
Evan L — Google review
this is an amazing part to take the kids to playgrounds are awesome and they have a nice lake where you can feed the fish and ducks and geese and turtles. There’s also a pretty impressive workout station they have that’s really nice.
David L — Google review
Great little park. The short walking trails are wide open and most are paved. The section of trail through the wooded area that is not paved is very well maintained by the parks department. Definitely take time to check out the turtles, fish and various birds that are always out on the lake!
Brian H — Google review
One of the best parks in the neighborhood! Very beautiful and not so busy.
N R — Google review
This park has everything: a lake with charming turtles, swans, ducks and plenty of fish, beautiful wooded areas, serene off-trail paths, several grass fields, kids playgrounds, a recently added exercise/open gym area, nice shelters for people to have gatherings and it’s located right in the heart of Copley! There are 3 different parking lots, which gives you an option to start your hike from a few different spots and keep spread out… You can find beauty here on every corner and in every season! 🌻

City park
Cascade Valley Metro Park, encompassing a sprawling 526 acres, is a nature lover's paradise with six distinct areas, including the Valley View section. This park has transformed from a former golf course into an inviting natural habitat since its acquisition in 2016. Visitors can enjoy activities like cross-country skiing, fishing, soccer, and hiking along the challenging Chuckery Trail that meanders by the picturesque Cuyahoga River. Spanning 2.
This is a new section recently opened for the Cascade Valley Metro park. Previously a golf course the park system purchased in 2016 and restored beautifully to a natural habitat. So far there are 2 trails both a mile long with a third connector trail in the works. There's also a Kayak launch access as well as a nice area for children and pavilion. The Metro parks in this county are just stunning. Trails are very easy paved or gravel not allot of shade.
Sharada G — Google review
This is one of my favorite parks to walk in. I go three times a week, almost every week. It's so nice and relaxing. I love it!
Miledys R — Google review
This is a wonderful park for a hike, with so much natural beauty to enjoy. There are tons of wildflowers lining the trails, which makes for a really colorful and scenic walk. I saw plenty of wildlife too, including butterflies, honey bees, and even a baby deer, which was such a special sight. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, take in the fresh air, and enjoy nature at its best.
Kyle R — Google review
An excellent metro park with a variety of trails over varied terrain.
Jason R — Google review
I too love the trails. The beautiful landscape of nature has all kinds of wildflowers and hibiscus along the trails. I love the tree in the pond.. my only concern is bathrooms not being accessible when a private gathering is in the barn. I too will use the bathroom during a private event. Why? Because I paid for that bathroom and all park facilities and so did you. The answer to this is to build another bathroom just for private events. You want families to use a ridiculous Porta potty while hiking together? No. Not happening!
Blue W — Google review
Picturesque easily accessible trails for easy walking. A really nice, big outdoor covered pavilion with lots of picnic tables. That cannot be reserved, but a much more ornate indoor special event center can be rented.

Wingfoot Lake State Park is a sprawling 700-acre oasis located just a stone's throw from Akron, making it the perfect getaway for nature lovers and families alike. This scenic park boasts a stunning lakeside setting where visitors can indulge in fishing, boating, and exploring well-maintained nature trails. The park features an impressive array of amenities including picnic areas with grills, playgrounds for children, and even bocce ball courts.
We have been to Wingfoot a number of times in the past, but went this evening to try to have an opportunity to see the blimp. It unfortunately was not there during the time that we were there, however, our walk down the lake path was absolutely stunning, and the grounds definitely appeared to be more neatly kept than they were in previous visits. There were new signs and storytelling things for the kids, everything was painted and fresh looking, and there were even some new swings that were absolutely lovely to sit on and look at the beautiful lake environment. Very impressed with this visit!
Dorene Y — Google review
This state park offers a fantastic blend of family-friendly activities like the story reading path and a great playground. We especially loved the serene lake with water lilies. And of course, we are always thrilled to see the blimp! It's an ideal spot for a fun and memorable day outdoors.

Home of the Goodyear blimp. Very cool shaded park. Excellent for fishing, walking, relaxing, and letting the kids stretch their little legs.

Great location but the foliage took the prize on this walk. The variety and vibrance of the colors of the leaves were breathtaking. The lake was beautiful too. We even saw a dog enjoying a swim. Great park to visit. Will definitely go back.

Had a great time here with my kids. They loved how easy it was to see the blmips from the shoreline. Definitely lots of room to walk and play.

This park has it all. A nice nature center where you can rent kayaks. They have some live critters to see and plenty of taxidermy. There are several spots to put kayaks and boats in. Beautiful views from all spots on the water. A nice storybook trail to follow for little ones to read. Boccie ball courts, basketball court, baseball field, a nice playground. Plenty of picnic areas and grills. A gaga ball court. This park has a second kayak rental spot as well. Two dog parks as well, one for little dogs and one for the large dogs. Perfect park!

The park provides facilities like restrooms, lockers, picnic tables, grills, and showers, making it an ideal spot for picnics. Visitors can also engage in activities such as fishing at the Cuyahoga River dock.
My nephew had a baseball game. As you enter the park there will be the water park. It was full of kids and parents swimming and enjoying themselves. The park area was towards the back. They had an area to fish. They had a huge soccer field. It was multiple games going on. I found the baseball field. Several games were going on. The park is huge and there is plenty to do at this park. You do have to purchase a pass to get into the water park area. You can pay by the day as well. It's cheaper if you are a resident of the area. I will be bringing my kids back to play at the water park.
LaShawn H — Google review
Water Works park/playground is a great location for families and gatherings. There is a good amount of accessible parking, with a new park that was created to be accessible to wheelchair users. Our daughter is in a wheelchair and enjoyed the music section, as well as being able to get to the top of the playset with her brothers as the entire playset consists of ramps. The swings and other equiptment items are surrounded by mulch which makes it a little more difficult for a WC to get through, but they still have a small accessible swing, and a few other fun pieces of equiptment if you can transfer. The river is very accessible for small kids and usually the water level is lower. Bring some chairs and water shoes to walk the small creek looking for crawdads and salamanders down to the river for more fun. Bathrooms are close, but sometimes a bit wet in the summer due to the many visitors getting off tubes/kayaks.

I really liked this park. It’s quiet and beautiful, with plenty of space for walking, a nice playground for kids, and kayaking. A great place to relax and enjoy nature.

I have been coming to this park for.....well a long time and have always liked it. We used to come here when the river would overflow and flood the entire park.. roads and all. We would come and drive through the flooded roads and be overgrown children. Today we brought some of my grandchildren here to eat our meal from the B&K Root beer drive in nearby and then walked and played in the river and at the playground. It is a nice park for walking, riding bikes, etc since there is a lot paved roads and parking areas. There were lots of people tubing in the river, which will be next for us. The playground is pretty nice and have different areas for all ages. Plenty of pavillion picnic areas with grills and they even have concrete corn hole at each of them. Also plenty of picnic tables spread throughout the park. There is a place to dock kayaks and canoes, a fenced in dog area and a baseball field as well. Really nice family park.

I think it’s ridiculous you charge for non swimming adults to bring their children in and charge 30 bucks a person. I wish summit and stark county provided more recreation for their residents. If we weren’t greedy trying to sap up the last pennies we’d have a safer conductive environment for our children. It’s a community swim place not cedar point

We picked a great time to go. Not crowded. BUT...the concession was practically out of ALOT of items!! Need better management. It didn't help that the teenager taking orders needed an attitude adjustment! If your child does not have the personality to deal with the public, let one of the other girls, that do!! 😡

It also has picnic areas and a marsh that attracts wildlife. The park is family-friendly with facilities for cross-country skiing and baseball practice fields. Fun well maintained trail that was easy to follow and get around on. It's a bike free trail that was fun to run on. If you're in the area, it's worth a visit.

A favorite for fall! Moderate, clean trails! A mix of unpaved/paved paths. Beautiful views of the lake, and lovely dense woods! Plenty of picnic tables by the entrance, and there are restrooms by the pavilion.

I love this park. It's been a favorite since I was a child. Lots of space. Picnic areas/grills in several locations with a beautiful view of the park and its famous hill ;) Trails. A rentable indoor space for private events. Clean bathrooms. Softball/kickball field. They also put in a long cement pad for some kind of sport. I see people use it quite often for different things.

Had a little outing at the park, and the area was kept up well. Brought my 3yr old and my brother brought his 4yr old. Played kickball and threw the football. All in all was a good time and I will return. Would have given 5 stars the trash cans were flowing onto the ground around the picnic tables.

The pond and boardwalk are the highlights. There’s plenty of trails with decent mileage, clean restrooms, and a pretty good overall metro park. Taking a photo of the park map before you start hiking I’d helpful.

Firestone Metro Park's Tuscarawas Meadows Area is a delightful escape for nature enthusiasts and outdoor lovers alike. This expansive park features well-maintained trails, including the easy-going Redwing Trail and the scenic Willow Trail, perfect for hiking or cross-country skiing. As you wander along these paths, you'll be treated to stunning views of the Tuscarawas River and Little Turtle Pond, where families can enjoy fishing—specifically designed for kids aged 15 and under.
Firestone Metro Park is one of my go-to places to unwind. The trails are super easy to walk and take you past some really pretty streams and wetlands. There’s tons of plant life and wildlife—I’ve seen deer, birds, and even turtles just hanging out. It’s a peaceful spot whether you’re out with the dog or just want a break in nature.
Randall M — Google review
Very beautiful area in Akron, Ohio. Two walking paths, The Willow and Redwing, go around the park and take you by several ponds, and beside the Tuscarawas River. There is a huge fishing pond, but it is for the kids and you have to be 15 years old or younger to fish there. There is also a smaller pond that is stocked with a bunch of turtles where fishing is prohibited. Restrooms are available and there is a big area with picnic tables. There is a huge open field that is perfect for the kiddos to run around, and also your puppies! Yes, this is a dog-friendly park.

Found this on a Google search while passing through. Nice!! Well maintained. We had lot #23. 18$ for residents, 22$ for non residents. Port-a-Johns were VERY clean. Website was soooo easy (and if you've dealt with Rec.gov..you feel my pain) Not in a State/Federal park. It's run by the city. A gentleman came around 9pm and checked on everyone/thing. He was so nice and answered all my questions.

Stayed at the campground 2 nights. Great park, handicap accessible, nice views and sunset. Easy for the kids to navigate on their own, fairly quiet and our site was mostly level (27). Campsite host was a bit doting, however very friendly. Excellent for biking, running and jogging. Didn't stay long enough for hiking. Will come back again.
Luz T — Google review
This review is for just the campground. I'd like to say this campground has potential that has not been arrived at as of our visit. Most sites are un level and on grass. The power situation is pretty pathetic 20 amp for some sites and 30 amp for others off the same post. After driving around for an open site, the ones that were open. I can only imagine it was for their layout or 20 amp power offering. If you have a teardrop or van, it's probably more doable. I'm glad we didn't book online. We needed to see it in person. Passed and are at a Harvest Host now.

Pretty good neighborhood park. Some of the playground equipment is showing its age, but otherwise fairly clean and safe. Sometimes there are groups of louder teenagers playing on the basketball courts and swearing loudly, which is not great if you are trying to enjoy the playground with your younger child.

Awesome new playground set (installed June 2025) at Croghan Park. This playground set is geared towards older kids. There is not a separate playground set for younger kids. But still, it has super cool features and is a really fun looking playground. There are numerous benches and picnic tables. Park still has 4 basketball goals, tennis courts, nice paved walking path, large open green space. As of June 2025 there are also two port a potties over by the tennis courts, but no other restrooms.

Clean and pretty park. You feel safe when you are there. Nice field to play volleyball, cornhole etc. Walking path around the park. There are swings and a play area for kids. There's a pavilion, grills, basketball court. Something for the whole family to do/enjoy
Darlene A — Google review
this new park is so buns it has nothing to climb, nothing fun or dangerous, it is so small you can’t even play tag!!! the slides are so bendy that even tiny kids get hurt when going down. the slides are also now made of panels so they are super bumpy and hurt. i notice every kid started the slides happy and ended with bruises and sadness. they also changed the monkey bars and made them boring and got rid of every random fun thing like the speaker you could talk into and the wheel you could spin on at mach 10 and the pull up bars that you could hang on. i also find it strange how the new swings can only be used by tiny kids due to their size and height. one last complaint is the taking away of the pavilion, which had water fountains, bathrooms, shade, and jenga. please fix this modern nightmare and give us the old nostalgic bundle of joy that we once adored
Gyvyvt R — Google review
I was excited to bring my son here & see the updated park but was very disappointed to find out it was not sensory or autism friendly at all. You have to climb some sort of rope to get to all the big slides which he doesn’t understand being he’s only 5 & nonverbal. Very sad to see such a nice park only be for typical kiddos.
Kaitlin M — Google review
New playground is great, but the lack of shade and restrooms with running water can make it difficult with kids.

We LOVE it here! So much fun with the park, splash pad, and summer calendar events for kids! We come back almost every other week! 10/10 recommends! Only complaint is that they would turn the splash pad on sooner! 11 can be close to nap time for us, so we don’t get to stay as long and enjoy it

Nestled in the Akron metro area, Hampton Hills Metro Park spans an impressive 655 acres, making it a fantastic destination for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike. This park boasts two challenging hiking trails that wind through lush woodlands and picturesque meadows, offering stunning views of the diverse topography shaped by nature since the last ice age. The Adam Run Trail is particularly noteworthy; it's a demanding route featuring steep inclines, water crossings, and scenic bridges that create a figure-eight loop with Spring Hollow Trail.
Absolutely beautiful park. 2 very nice trails at the main entrance listed as difficult level however I would say more moderate to easy. Today we took the 1.9 mile trail natural/gravel which winds through deep woods. This park is very well maintained. Possibly one of our new favorites. Can't wait to come back and try the 3.5 mile trail very soon.

Great park with two major trails. Total, just under 5 miles. Both trails take you through the forest, enjoy hiking over streams crossings, bridges and stairs. The hills can get muddy and bring bug spray 🦟 Restroom on sight
Dave — Google review
Fantastic Metro Park for a great family outing. Hampton Hills has two hiking trails. Both involve allot of hills to climb! So be prepared. Most of the trails are in the woods. But there are a couple of meadows along the Adams Run trail to enjoy. The park also includes a small picnic area and an archery range nearby. We choose the Adams Run trail. It is a little over three miles. But it is one of my favorite trails in the Summit Metro Parks. Plenty of switch backs, water crossings and bridges. Quite allot to see along the way. I especially like it after some rain as there is allot of water in the ravines.
Michael H — Google review
Honestly a beautiful trail year round. In the warmer months you'll want to bring bug spray as the mosquitoes are rough here. After it rains the streams get very full and can be impassable if you're not willing to get your shoes/boots soaked (I recommend hiking boots for dry and wet because of uneven ground i.e. roots and indentations in the mud). There are also a few hills here that are quite steep so that is something to keep in mind. If these things aren't a problem at all for you then you will absolutely LOVE this trail.

What a great little hidden gem! Would have never known if I didn't see it on Google maps. Very clean park with almost new play structures for kids of all sizes. Lots of slides of all different heights. Great challenging climbing features. There's a beautiful pond and gazebo too. Additional play structures and challenge play structures on the wooded side. I suggest bringing water as we didn't see any water fountains. Somewhat dog friendly with a short walking trail. Glad we found this great little park and we'll definitely be returning to play soon! My kids and I love riding our bikes to this park on nice days. It’s very well kept and always clean. The newer portion of the playground is really nice and is perfect for kids of all ages. I really wish they would update the wooden playground side though because my boys love going down into there to play. My only complaint and I’m sure it’s at no fault of the park but there are several older people who like to cause issues with kids and families that are there. Three times I have been there when a man has come out of the woods where the walking path is yelling and carrying on about my children having bikes at the park. I am with my kids and have never let them ride anywhere other than through the parking lot. We also had an older man walk all the way up to us at the playground screaming at us about being loud and to be quiet. They’re kids… they’re going to laugh and yell while playing. We did call the police twice about this. Other than that, it’s truly a nice park.

Absolutely fantastic playground!!! This playground definitely has something for every kid to enjoy. There are plenty of climbing adventures, several types of slides, swings, and even a merry go round! There are several different climbing equipment to choose from. Starting with a smaller version for the little guys up to the larger ones with different climbing options as well as several slides to get down from. The merry go round is an awesome addition. Feels very "retro". A small covered pavilion is located directly next to the playground. Also, Safety Town is across the parking lot and Oregon Trails Park is located next to it. Our kids had been in the car for 2 hours straight, so it was not only awesome to find a playground, but to find one that had bathrooms (port-a-potties, but bathrooms none the less). We love taking grandkids here, it's charming and clean. The only negative is the ridiculous single admission line, you could wait 45 minutes or longer on a busy day. Its their way to influence you to buy a season pass, where the line is shorter or non-existent. Kids aren't allowed on slides unless 48 inches tall. I guess height is more important than swimming ability.

Maca is a great place for family to swim. They let you bring your own food in to the water park. I give it 4 instead of 5 starts because the water is always too cold for me to get in. My children love it, but I am always cold.

Fantastic history hike with Summit Metro Parks naturalist, Janean, at Liberty Park on the Black Bear Trail. Her energy and enthusiasm is palpable. She led the hike on Mon., 3/24/2025 for more that 2 dozen hikers. Great information on the park, maple syrup production, and the city of Twinsburg. Thanks Janean for ding such a great job on this hike!

I have to admit, the parks in Summit County are one of the few things I enjoy about this area. Not all of them are kept up the way the should be but most of them are absolutely stunning. Virginia Kendell, the ledges in Twinsburg are probably two of my favorites! If you enjoy photography, art or writing then these two locations are great for capturing some inspiration! A nice (more secluded) park is the O'Neil Woods in Bath, OH. I didn't get to explore both paths yet but the "Trail Lot" was quiet, had a cute little creek , clean and peaceful. Hands down, Summit offers some of the better parks I've visited and are definitely worth the trip :)

Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is a stunning historic estate that offers visitors a glimpse into Akron's rich heritage. Once the home of F.A. Seiberling, co-founder of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, this magnificent Tudor Revival Manor House boasts 65 rooms filled with about 95% of its original furnishings, making it a rare gem from the Gilded Age. Set on 70 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and gardens, the estate also features a Gothic Revival Conservatory.
Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens is truly one of Northeast Ohio’s most breathtaking wedding venues. Over the last decade, I’ve photographed more than a dozen weddings on these grounds, and every time I return, I’m reminded why this place is so special. It blends historic elegance with natural beauty—offering a romantic, storybook setting that feels both grand and deeply intimate. From the European-inspired architecture to the curated gardens and quiet paths, every corner of the estate offers timeless backdrops that elevate a couple’s wedding day and allow their love story to shine. The staff here is equally remarkable. From seamless logistics and guest care to thoughtful touches like coolers of water on warm days or umbrellas during rain, the Stan Hywet team always makes sure the day runs with grace. They pour so much heart into each celebration, and it never goes unnoticed. One of my favorite places to photograph is the English Garden—a hidden gem enclosed by stone walls, filled with soft natural light, statues, water features, and a feeling of magic. It’s perfect for portraits that feel ethereal and cinematic, yet grounded in real emotion. If you're drawn to refined romance, heritage architecture, and elevated, garden-inspired celebrations, Stan Hywet is a dream venue. I absolutely love photographing weddings here and would be honored to continue serving couples who choose to say "I do" in such an unforgettable place.

This was my second time visiting Stan Hywet, and it honestly gets better each time. No matter how many times you go, you always notice something new—whether it’s a detail in the house or something blooming in the gardens. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable, and you can tell they really care about the history of the estate. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and such a peaceful place to walk through. It’s also easy to see why so many people choose it for weddings—it’s truly a stunning backdrop.
Geared B — Google review
We went to the Ohio Mart at Stan Hywet. What an incredible day! For 50 plus years the market has been selling premiere artisan works and this year did not disappoint. Such a beautiful setting for the Market. Plenty of restrooms, food options. Drink options are limited and a little pricey. Parking is off site with plenty of buses running to overflow spots. Loved this place!
S. P — Google review
My husband and I visited on the self guided tour. The entire estate is impressive. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. So much to see and history to absorb. We were unable to see a small portion of the gardens due to wedding ceremonies taking place, but were not bothered by it. The grounds are beautifully kept. It was nice to go at our own pace. We spent 4-5 hrs exploring and taking SO many pictures.
Chantal S — Google review
This is a beautiful mansion. The historic home and grounds are well preserved. I attended my niece’s wedding on a Saturday. It was held outdoors under a tent. I actually attended an indoor wedding there thirty years ago for the bride’s father. It would be a five star if entry into the property was not such an ugly scene. Our bus driver was following specific written, mapped out instructions and was curtly turned away by a Stan Hyatt attendant (who was wrong). We did finally get in, but it was an ugly way to start a joyous celebration. The employees inside were gracious and welcoming. Guests were allowed to tour the first floor. It’s an amazing place.
Pamela A — Google review
I enjoyed my first visit ever to Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens during this year’s Ohio Mart which encompassed much of the grounds in their food court and art vendor displays. It was a great opportunity for a self tour of the estate and grounds while enjoying bits of fall and the festival too. Remarkable historical home and gardens - I so appreciated a peek back in history with the fact that 95% of furnishings are original on the estate.
Stacey G — Google review
A quite beautiful place to visit. The home itself is amazing - hard to imagine living in such opulence, and it was 1915! The home is well maintained, as a museum piece. The tour was fascinating - I will need to go back for the "nooks and crannies tour" to be allowed past the velvet ropes! The grounds are excellent as well, with awesome flower beds in bloom.
Steven H — Google review
We went to see the main home. It was very large and well preserved. Most of the furnishings were from the family. We did the self guided tour and thought it was great. If you had more time, I would recommend taking the guided tour. We particularly loved seeing the swimming pool. There are many volunteers around the home that could answer your questions. One of the best tours I’ve taken.

Nestled in the heart of Ohio, Portage Lakes State Park is a true haven for outdoor enthusiasts. The scenic trails offer breathtaking views of the lakes while providing ample opportunities for hiking and leisurely strolls under the sun or shade.
Rustic. It only provides electricity, but the paved, back in sites, are long and flat. It is surrounded by water, with a boat ramp and dock and is so peaceful and beautiful. Only electric boat motors are allowed. Cute little playground for the kids. The nearby city of Green is beautiful with well appointed stores

Super beautiful scenery with plenty of places to sit and relax or do something more active. There's an awesome volleyball court right on the beach and the water is so warm and relaxing if you find a good spot to swim away from the vegetation. There are a lot of boats on the water and people fish off the docks at certain points of the day. Never too crowded, because the park is sort of tucked away from the main road and it seems easy to miss if you don't know about the location already. Overall a very chill place with gorgeous views to hang out. Would recommend visiting during sunset.

This place never fails to entertain me and my dog. We can play for an hour together and the time just flies because he’s always getting back in the water to fetch balls. I recommend brings a few extras because they can get lost under the dock.

Beautiful park! Quiet and expansive with swimming areas and restrooms. There are hiking trails and some paved level paths but be cautious of uneven grassy areas and ticks.

This state park offers a wide array of amenities/activities. There's boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, a playground, basketball court, two sand volley ball courts, a dog park, and lots of picnic areas. Most of the trails can be found near the swimming beach/playground area. I think the best one is actually the frisbee golf course, which does get a lot of use, but well worth checking out. Overall, this is a nice place with tons of parking and plenty of things for to do.

It is advisable to apply sunscreen or other protective measures when the sun is shining, as shade is scarce. This park presents an ideal location for photographers with its picturesque surroundings.

It’s beautiful, you won’t believe you are still in Springfield. The trail is relatively flat I believe people with disabilities should have no trouble walking it, the pond in the middle of the prairie is a good photo opportunity and worth the effort. This trail is a loop and is pretty short so it’s great for a quick evening walk just be warned there are no lights at all.

Cascade Valley Metro Park-Chuckery Area is a pet-friendly park spanning 526 acres and offering various activities such as fishing, hiking, sports, and picnicking. The Chuckery Trail is a challenging 2.4-mile hike with stunning views of the Cuyahoga River. Nestled between Akron and Cuyahoga Falls, the park features steep bluffs that rise nearly 130 feet above the river, providing dramatic viewpoints from a deck.
Beautiful park. Just opened and it is already our favorite place. Very clean, large beautiful fields of Black Eyed Susans. We can't wait for the park to further develop. Great trail for a casual walks or a trail runner. We can't wait for the connection to Sand Run park.

A Nice short hike. The park itself is so very large and there were tuns of fungi growing around the river basin. There was not a lot of people traffic. A lovely place for the dog to get some exercise. There is a picnic place by the parking lot and the river, I am sure you can rent for family events. The trail work steps had been completed nearly 100 years ango and they are holding up so well!
Annaka J — Google review
I love this path because it has a beautiful view of the river and a little bit of climbing over some beautiful fallen trees. There are a lot of nice riverbanks to relax on that are not full current even when it rains a ton. It is super fun for kids and dogs. It is not a loop trail, but it has a really cool area through rocks, although it seems to be a storm drain, but it is absolutely beautiful. It still is a bit of a hike and I was actually at babb run not cascade. I would recommend tennis shoes and it isn't a super easy trail.

Beautiful state park. Outlook bridge had a great view and was amazing! Also did the trail along the water and was peaceful and calming. My daughter and I really liked these trails and will be back.
Bella — Google review
A stunning park hidden in a valley directly outside of downtown Akron, although not part of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, it is the beginning of the greenbelt that travels north/northwest into said valley. Summit Metro Parks considers this area the jewel of their park system and I agree. The signal tree, picnic areas, and connection to the Highbridge Trail are all gorgeous. Several areas of the river here are shallow enough to venture into the middle of the river, where you can often see Blue Heron catching a meal. There are also several deep bends where one can take a swim when the water is clean enough for that. Deer are plentiful as well and can often be seen grazing in the middle of the meadows near dusk. Truly a magical place. Also, several other wonderful parks abut this one that are worth checking out - the overlook area in Cuyahoga Falls has a viewing platform that overlooks this area and has trails connecting to it, there's also Babb Run across the river which features a underused trail to a beautiful waterfall, but this chuckery area is my favorite!

I rented it for a my two kids birthday party. It was well worth it. The kids had a blast playing on the playground. It rained for a bit and we stayed dry. I wouldn't bring balloons we had lots and they kept blowing away. For the price you can't beat it. Will be going again next year.

The playgrounds are nice and up to date, but they're in complete sunlight the entire day. The metal and plastic are very warm throughout the day and hot when the suns out. Great place for weather in the high 70s but anything warmer is difficult. The lake looks a lot nicer than it used to but it's still nasty to a certain degree.

We visited Urban Air today for our friend Iryna’s birthday party, and we absolutely loved it! The place is huge, with so many different play areas — trampolines, slides, obstacle courses, climbing zones, and more. The kids had an amazing time and didn’t want to leave! The atmosphere was fun, the staff was friendly and attentive. Everything was clean, well-organized, and safe. A perfect place for birthday parties or just an active day out. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We had a blast. Everything was clean, and set up well. Felt safe the whole time, and the kids had a blast. Wasn't too busy, had plenty of room for the little ones.
Adam T — Google review
It was okay. We attended a birthday party here, and while the staff and service were wonderful, it was obviously very noisy and a bit overwhelming for a sensitive adult or a sensitive child. My kiddo had a lot of fun, but as someone under 5, there were maybe only 2-3 activities that felt safe, for that age range. I did like that they allow certain time slots per wristband and that there is only one way in and one way out and that they offer so many things for older kiddos also. Not sure if I'd be back, but maybe when my children are older.
R B — Google review
I visited the amusement park on Sunday, June 29, 2025. At the front desk, I encountered a young woman in a pink shirt with blonde and black hair. She appeared to be in her early twenties and was quite rude. There was a long line of people in front of me, which I understood. However, she seemed to be the only one at the front desk and was also taking people back to their rooms. When it was my turn to pay for my children’s tickets, the phone rang, causing us to wait longer. I didn’t realize this at first until I opened my mouth to greet her. She immediately picked up the phone and held up her pointer finger, indicating that I should wait. This was extremely rude. I vividly remember her rolling her eyes at one point, which was unacceptable customer service. Despite this rude encounter at the front desk, my children had a great time and enjoyed the park. However, based solely on the rude behavior of that young woman, I doubt we will return.

Management & staff are extremely excellent! Establishment is very clean and well kept. Bathrooms are also very clean & well kept. The customer service from management and staff is always superb. Cafe is clean & organized. Food & beverage was outstanding. My children were extremely happy & satisfied & we always are every time we visit. Thank you for showing us a great time, every time!!! I highly recommend.

My family visited Urban Air for the first time last Friday. We were guests at a birthday party, and we brought two kids (8 and 10). My daughter had a small panic attack in the obstacle course that required a harness— not sure what it was called. The young man on duty at that attraction patiently coached her back to the staircase, and another employee (Delanie) also went out of her way to comfort our daughter. We were grateful for their attentiveness. Overall, both kids had a really great time, and we plan to return. Thank you!
Amanda N — Google review
This place has so much to do! We were able to spend a great deal of time here, and the kids had a blast. This location does not have go karts like their promo video shows but still has a good amount of stuff. There is a family package which includes a pizza, icee's and drinks for a good price. I had a gift card, and I attempted to purchase at the counter and was told I had to purchase online. I went through the whole process online and get to the payment section and asked the worker where do I put the gift card, to which she said I couldn't. So she somehow was now able to do it at the counter. Other than that, no other hiccups. Nice place to take the family for a day.

O'Neil Woods Metro Park is a stunning 295-acre expanse that was once a farm, now transformed into a haven for nature lovers and birdwatchers alike. The trail features an engaging mix of terrain with hills and valleys, making it both challenging and rewarding for hikers.
A bit hilly. I guess that's why it's rated difficult! I posted a screenshot of the topo map of the trail in teal so you can see the elevation changes. Freshly asphalted drive and parking lot! All in all a nice hike even though you hear traffic in many areas with different intensities depending on where you are.

Did the Deer Run Trail....a little over two mile loop trail that passes by a peaceful stream and some high-up overlooks looking out into the forest. Very easy to get to. There are restrooms at the trailhead. Several picnic tables are next to the parking lot, offering a chance to have a little picnic before or after your hike. Would highly recommend the Deer Run Trail in O'Neil Woods Metro Park.

I've been here a couple times now and intend on going back within the coming days as the leaves change. What a beautiful area to hike in. It's nice that there are benches in several locations throughout the trail so you can rest if you need it, or take in the sights and sounds of the nature around you.

Pretty big parking lot, restrooms on site. Picnic tables with grill. The 2.4 mi Dear Run Trail also connect to the Buckeye Trail. This trail is a wooded trail with plenty of stones and roots. There are also man-made bridges and two roadways that you'll have to cross. You will also bypass a Red barn. There is a section of stairs. 23 in all. Recommend hiking boots and plenty of bug spray
Dave — Google review
I went to do the Deer Run Trail, it is a loop that returns to the same parking lot. It was a nice trail with good up and down terrain and a mix of environments. Some is in the woods and hills, some along a creek/river and in the valley. Wad around 3 miles I think and took a little over an hour when stopping to look at stuff. Would do it again.
Kevin M — Google review
This is easily one of the best parks in the area. About halfway through the trail you will come across both a creek and a barn, making for some neat points of interest along the hike. A couple things about this park… 1) Bring bug spray! If you stop walking for a moment, you’ll be covered in gnats and mosquitos 2) It’s about 2 miles long to finish the loop and none of it is paved, so dress appropriately. There are slight inclines, so keep that in mind. The path is clear and there are frequent trail markers as well. 3) The parking lot has a bathroom which is convenient, but it is rather primitive (no flushing or sink). There are also 4+ picnic tables, so feel free to have a picnic.

31Davenport Park

4.1

City park
Davenport Park is a delightful destination for families and friends alike, offering expansive open fields perfect for picnics and leisurely afternoons. With shaded areas to relax, tennis and basketball courts for some friendly competition, and a medium-sized playground that kids adore, it’s an ideal spot to spend quality time outdoors. While the park may show signs of wear with occasional graffiti or overgrown areas—common in many public spaces—it doesn’t detract from its charm.
Nice park and good playground. Nice basketball courts as well .Bathrooms are open most of the time.
Lisa M — Google review
It was a nice park decent toys Sadly lots of trash all over the ground
Kristen D — Google review
Park has a basketball court and areas for other sports

Had to walk too far and didn't see a restroom... the game was good.
K S — Google review
Park is in ok shape. Some graffiti and normal wear on equipment. Lots of seating which I appreciate.
Theresa D — Google review
A wonderful park with wide open fields, shaded picnic areas, tennis and basketball courts, and a medium sized playground. Only knocked one star off because it’s not always the best maintained, getting overgrown/vandalized. But that’s an issue many places and not a reason not to visit! My son and I love spending mornings here.
Chris W — Google review
My grandmothers back yard was Davenport park when I was growing up. There was nothing better then watching baseball games and playing on the tire swings. The sound of basketballs being dribbled echoed through the swirling slide. It always seemed happy and full of life. Fast forward a few years... They take most of the equipment out and replace it with things less appealing and fun. Fast forward a few more years... Young ignorant kids playing basketball decide to bring guns to an innocent game and start shooting. That act alone shattered an entire community and their place to have fun with their kids. Such a shame what Davenport park has come to. If my grandmother was still alive I guarantee she would be disgusted! I hope this park gets the turn around is desperately needs!
Jessica J — Google review
Love this park could have been much cleaner. We saw six Akron Park officials there and they were completely out of shape. Was an effort for them to bend over and pick up the area. Saw one worker pick up one little stick and take it to the truck and empty it into the bed. The park is nice with tennis courts and basketball. Akron Parks workers need to be better vetted for fitness and willingness to take pride in the job they do.

Port-o-jons were absolutely disgusting. Overflowing in all. Charges $8 per adult to park. Clearly the money isn’t paying anyone to keep facilities safe or available for elderly or handicapped or really anyone.

Athletic field
The ballpark is used alot and is very nicely kept. There is a good concession stand and restrooms. The fields are kept in good condition. My niece has been playing softball at these fields for five years. They have six or seven fields; four actually in the park proper and three more surrounding Schrop Intermediate School and Springfield Administration Building. There are quite a few teams that use these fields. I have seen dogs on leashes.
Frances H — Google review
Great ball park. Bathrooms are kept up so you don't have to worry about disgusting porta potties they have concession stands with reasonable prices and tourney directors really do try to run a nice tournament
Tina I — Google review
A very nice baseball facility with good amenities. The high school level field is good, with a grass infield. Outfield depth is challenging for youth. Base paths are soft and forgiving.
Gerry L — Google review
Great place for ballgames, always kept cleaned up, fields are all in great shape the whole place is well maintained
Tiffany C — Google review
There is plenty of space multiple restrooms with multiple portapottys for use, and during the games, their concession stand is open with a bunch of options
Steven B — Google review
Jedd Park offers a very well laid out baseball park. Always clean and plenty of convenient parking. Concession area is perfect and offers alot of covered seating. I love watching my granddaughter play at this field.

Nice field. Terrible stadium. Few seats, bad views, have to either cross a street or walk a bit for parking. OHSAA needs to up their stadium selection.

Pet-friendly park with trails, restrooms & drinking water, plus picnic sites, fishing & ball fields.
Beautiful trail to hike and see such awesome nature scenery. We loved everything from the wild flowers to the water where we saw ducks, tiny little fish, and tadpoles!
Bella — Google review
My initial thought when we started down the trail was not good. There was glass busted all over and to your right your view was a slightly sketchy looking apartment complex. However as we progressed on the trail it was actually quite nice. Heavily wooded natural trails.
Sharada G — Google review
The 3 mile trail is intense. I had fun hiking it, but there are very steep hills, and places where I felt like I was about to fall backwards down said steep hills.its a great trail for someone looking for an intense work out. Starts out really easy, with no hills, then quickly changes.
Kristen R — Google review
Quite a lovely find and one of the best trails in all the metro park yet easy to overlook. True, it has primitive points, but with that comes a beauty some of the others don’t have. This path has some of the largest and most mature trees in all the system and has a bonus connection to the main tow path.
Kevin S — Google review
Very nice day hike, not really hard or long. This 1.2 mile hike is an out and back. Is located in the Cascade Valley Parks. This hike also offers a Valley Link 2.8 miles that will connect you to Sandrun Metro Park.
Dave — Google review
It's a nice little park. The trail is steep in some areas with a lot of tree roots. It can't accommodate a person in a wheelchair at all. There are two picnic tables, one of which a wheelchair fits at one end.
Marissa K — Google review
The Shumacher Trail is one of my favorite trails in the metro park system. It's short and sweet, with a great climb back to the start. This trail is peaceful and quiet with lush vegetation. Be sure to take the side trail to the left before the bridge to visit the beach area by the Cuyahoga River.

Park
Secluded and serene park with quiet trails. There is a nice lazy stream that is a nice option for dogs to play in without having to worry about abandoned fish hooks. There are several great photo opportunities as well as old fallen trees should you feel like reenacting one of Baby’s dance practice scenes from Dirty Dancing.

I recently had the pleasure of attending a delightful birthday party for a one-year-old at Knapp Recreation Area in Green, Ohio, and it was an experience to remember! From the moment we arrived, I was impressed by the clean and well-maintained pavilion. It offered a spacious and inviting atmosphere for the celebration, making it the perfect spot for families to gather and enjoy the day. The surrounding landscape at Knapp Recreation Area is simply stunning. The lush greenery, vibrant wildflowers, and well-kept walking trails create a picturesque setting that truly enhances any event. As we celebrated the little one's milestone, we were able to take in the beauty of nature, which added a special touch to the festivities. I also appreciated the thoughtful amenities available, including picnic tables and grills, which made it easy for the party to feel festive and fun. The area was buzzing with families enjoying the outdoors, and it was heartwarming to see so many people making the most of this beautiful space. Overall, Knapp Recreation Area is a gem in Green, Ohio, and I highly recommend it for any outdoor gathering. The combination of a clean pavilion, breathtaking surroundings, and a welcoming community atmosphere made for a perfect day of celebration. We can't wait to return for more family outings and special occasions!

Bit of a hidden gem, this small park offers well marked trails, a lake view, and an open shelter with picnic table. Sorry no restroom.

Nice hiking trails but aren't too difficult, if you're willing to do a steeper climb there's a stream. Large Gravel Pit parking area with a porta potty, and a picnic area, part of which is shaded and covered. Dog friendly.

This is a nice little park. My dog loves it. I go here a lot. Most days it is quiet. They have a Frisbee golf course. There's a shelter with picnic tables and a couple grills. There is a great little area for kids to play. The kids can swing, climb, and there is a sliding board etc. You can rent the shelter for birthday parties or other events and they will turn the power on for you. There is an amphitheater. The Park is old but it's well kept. In the summer they also have a porta-john and a large trash can. Sometimes kids come and litter in the parking lot. Over all, it is kind of like an undiscovered Park that is worth checking out.
John — Google review
Nice clear walkways, less graffiti than surrounding parks. Awesome open air stage. Only negative thing was along the stone wall by the swing with sand under it was a lot of broken glass. Like more than i expected at a park in kenmore lol. I live here so i can say that! Well 1.8m from the park. I picked it up and hope they have some type of event utilizing that stage before the year is up.
Jonathan S — Google review
What a great hidden gem!! I was beginning to think this little part of Akron (kenmore) had not one swing set or park. Then I found this park and these swings are amazing. I definitely recommend visiting this one. Very clean picnic area and several porta-potties in the park.
Barte B — Google review
Super quiet when we went on a Monday, cool playground with a few novel items. The rating is for the disc golf course though, no tee pads, no maps, some baskets had a number scrawled on them , sometimes you would see a number and a line written on a path to indicate a starting place. With just a little effort could be a good little beginners course.
Graham B — Google review
Overall sketchy atmosphere. Went here for disc golf and not worth it. Overgrown glass and trash are found throughout the park. We saw used condoms, bottles of piss, and dog poop throughout the park. City of Akron needs to do better.
Daisy G — Google review
This historic park was awarded as a great park in 2018. It has the amphitheater with many stairs to climb for exercise along with children’s playground, port-a-potty, pavilion for picnics and gatherings. And there’s a combination of easy and challenging 9-hole disc golf course for beginners and practicing.
Cindy H — Google review
We just love this park. It is close to home and big enough that she doesn't get bored fast. The old amphitheater is neat and the pavilion is large and kept clean. There are no restrooms but there is a port-a-potty.
Jennifer L — Google review
The park looks like it would be fun for kids. I went for the disk golf and I would not recommend this course to anyone. They did have a big pavilion that would be nice for a birthday party or family gathering. The playground is a good size with lots of choices for the kids. Overall small park, but for a neighborhood park it is cool.

Nestled in the heart of Akron, Elizabeth Park is a hidden gem that offers a delightful escape for families and nature lovers alike. With its lush greenery, vibrant gardens, and ample space for outdoor activities, it’s an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll or a fun-filled day with the kids. The park features playgrounds, workout equipment, and even a splash pad to keep everyone entertained.
Hidden Jen of Akron! This place is so amazing! Just wish someone helped with the trash disposal… All the bins are full so there’s trash everywhere
Shaina H — Google review
Not a bad park, but it could be SO MUCH MORE! I am a long term local resident and with all the cleaning up Akron has been doing it needs more tourist hot spots. Places like Lock 15 and the Courtyard, The Scenic Railroad etc bring quite a bit of people to this area. What better than some more work to the parks through the Akron Valley too! Elizabeth Park is a fine example of a potential goldmine for more "foot traffic" literally. With everything going on down here with the lock parks and the canal trail all you need is a couple more amazing parks to cap it off. For example with the bridge being right there and the courts not being used often. Put a "all weather" cover on the courts. No... No need to enclose them. There are plenty of indoor places to go. But there no places or parks outside when its raining or snowing etc etc. That would stand out. Perhaps even consider redoing the playground with a skip style park and walkway / hiking trail along the water way? It would be really cool to see, even if it was short and rode along just one side down to were you guys put in the Otto St. Passenger Bridge. Or if it went East at all alongside the Little Cuyahoga. That would be really neat to see too.
