Nestled just outside the bustling city center of Odense, The Funen Village, or Den Fynske Landsby, is a captivating open-air museum that transports visitors back to the 19th century. This enchanting destination features over 25 meticulously preserved half-timbered houses and historical buildings that reflect rural Danish life during Hans Christian Andersen's era. As you stroll through this picturesque village set against a stunning natural backdrop, you'll gain insight into the cultural and historical roots of Funen.
This an interesting place to see the older style architecture of Denmark developed as if a village and all contained in a relatively small area. The adjoining restaurant/cafe provides tasty food and drinks, so also worth a visit.
Mal J — Google review
I loved the experience specially as foreigner got to experience village style house of Europe and traditional construction of different times.
Karthika L — Google review
One of the most interesting and enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had. The farm buildings are so full of cool things to see and learn about, I could go back many times. My only comment, and this is not a criticism by any means, is without historical interpreters - the places feels somewhat listless. Granted that takes staffing and money- both of which are hard to come by, but I’d say that this visit made my entire Denmark vacation worthwhile.
Syd M — Google review
A great experience, a small Danish Pompeii of the 1700-1800. Talk with the old people here and there, they really offer great gems on history and knowledge, I finally understood why old danish houses are done the way they were done. Great for kids also. Highly recommended for anyone doing an on the road holiday through Danemark.
Dario R — Google review
Great place to spend some time, nature, old houses and atmosphere. Food and drinks at then inn are great and ample parking available.
M. A — Google review
It's a cute museum which helps you get a better grip on what life was like on Funen some 150-200 years ago. Especially fun with children. I liked the spin they put on the experience relating things to sustainability and circularity.
Floris H — Google review
Interesting to learn about the life of Danish gamers and villagers in the 19th century. Unfortunately no guides during the week and all tekst is in Danish. You can use the Useeum app for English explanation with every building
Xavier C — Google review
A nice way to explore the past. A relaxing atmosphere and super chill farm animals. It's a good way to experience nature and fresh air, see some super interesting old buildings and have some exercise. Lots of place to eat what one brings from home but I'm glad we forgot ours and experienced the restaurant inside

Art Museum Brandts, located in Odense, is a cultural hub showcasing classical and contemporary art, photography, and film within a former textile factory. The museum offers an extensive overview of 250 years of Danish art history across its five floors. With ten new exhibitions annually, visitors can explore modern and classical art as well as pop culture images.
Very nice museum, I liked the permanent collection as the featured exhibitions. I t has some women featured which is nice to know, beautiful graphic design and branding across the floors, great view from the windows and variety at the shop. I enjoyed my time and it was easy to go through it.
Zaira R — Google review
Nice, polite staff. Quality gift shop. Interesting exhibition (went to see one on sexuality: "Love, lyst, and freedom"). Location is well placed in the center of Odense with dining opportunities everywhere. Only reason for the fifth star missing is the size of the exhibitions. Brandts prefer a great deal of open space, which is beautifully set up, but with an interesting exhibition it's difficult for the visitor to "get enough".
Kimmie B — Google review
It is a cool art museum, though the enjoyment you will get depends on your appreciation of the temporary exhibitions. The permanent one, although fun is not very big. I enjoyed the closelings exhibition as well as the one on Jens Juel. The layout of the museum is modern and located within an interesting building. Entry is 75dkk for students.
Floris H — Google review
Wonderful museum but it’s shame that the shop offers barely anything that reflects the collections they have. I wish I could have brought home something small that reflects Danish art, not a generic postcard I can find anywhere.
D. G — Google review
Place has an interesting collection of paintings, but your enjoyment really hinges on the temporary exhibitions. In our experience, it was modern "art"—which, to be honest, I don’t think is art at all. The permanent collection is small but provides good insight and is nicely displayed. The building is easy to get around, and you won’t spend too much time looking at everything. It’s worth checking out if you’re in the area, but not essential unless the temporary exhibit matches your interests.
Fazil B — Google review
I enjoyed the exhibition featuring Belgium art & its political history. Main galleries had a good quality mix of historical, local and newer art. Enjoyable. Has a cafe.
Tammy O — Google review
This museum has an amazing variety of old and modern art. The entrance is expensive for over 10€ for students, but it's worth the art you'll see. From interactive over movies to traditional paintings there's a bunch to see on multiple floors. Even for kids they created various experiences! ☺️ The museum's shop has some cool gadgets as well and connected is a great concept of a coffee place which includes arts as well.
Gernot S — Google review
Had the chance to visit Pixar exhibition here in a winter evening of for free. Though it is not very big, it is still an enjoyable museum to visit with both friends and family!

Storms Pakhus in Odense, Denmark is not just a restaurant but a casual dining spot that stands out for its cozy atmosphere and a wide range of delicious, affordable food. It's the perfect place for those seeking to dine in extremely relaxing and cozy surroundings. The venue focuses on local produce, with all food stalls serving dishes made from ingredients sourced from Funen, whether you opt for Indian, Italian or Vietnamese cuisine.
1000/10 The best place in Odense for food and socialising! It’s vibrant and fun, with a wide variety of food options to suit every taste. They also host events and live music, especially in summer when the outdoor area comes alive. 100% recommended!
Euro I — Google review
Funky and lively indoor/outdoor food court/street food hall with plenty of interesting cuisine options, a bunch of cool bars, and regular entertainment. Great fun, especially with friends or in a group. For visitors, a cool local culture experience to enjoy
P G — Google review
Storms Pakhus is hands down one of the best places I visited in Odense! The atmosphere is electric—laid-back, creative, and full of life. Housed in an old industrial warehouse, the space has been transformed into a vibrant street food market with a cool urban edge and plenty of cozy corners to hang out in. The food selection is amazing! There’s something for everyone
Lydz C — Google review
It is a delightful place to visit, offering a diverse selection of international cuisine. The street food concept is well-executed, and all the dishes we sampled were quite delicious. They also have music events, outdoor seating, and a selection of beers.
Panos M — Google review
Excellent street food destination!! Such a great variety of food options, all of great quality and very reasonable prices. There is an excellent live band playing popular music. One can find quieter spots too if you prefer. There is an outdoor sitting area too! The vibe is the best part!! Lots of people having fun, enjoying themselves. The laughter is infectious. This is a great place in a rather quiet city, to let your hair down and enjoy yourself 😀
Pradhyot S — Google review
A great variety of tasty dishes and drinks (especially the beer selection) in a great location with a beautiful flower decor. We enjoyed every bite and sip. This will now become a set spot for our next trips to Odense.
Philipp G — Google review
There are many options for food. The quality of the good was good, there are many tables and the music e also perfect (not too loud, not low). The bathrooms are a bit small but where clean and with everything. Now in the summer there are free concerts outside almost everyday and it is super nice!
Filipa P — Google review
Unique food experience you will ever have. Old Warehouse converted into street food kiosks. Original decorations you will not imagine it. Wide variety of food and drinks. Good place for family and kids will enjoy. Don’t miss it.

Odense Cathedral, also known as St. Canute's Church, is a brick-built Gothic cathedral dating back to the 11th century. It was named after the Danish King Canute the Saint and rebuilt in the 1300s on the site of an earlier church destroyed by fires. The cathedral houses a magnificent altarpiece with over 300 carved figures created by Claus Berg in the 1500s.
St. Canute’s Church is a beautiful Gothic cathedral in Odense, Denmark, known for its striking architecture and historical significance as the burial place of King Canute. Peaceful and rich in history, it's a must-visit for history and architecture lovers.
Khalid K — Google review
It’s my first time seeing a cathedral openly display the “relics” (they are at basement). Odense Cathedral is a must visit place if you want to understand more about this city. I like how well-maintained and open it is.
Kate C — Google review
Odense Cathedral, also known as Saint Canute’s Cathedral (Skt. Knuds Kirke), is an absolute must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or the legacy of Denmark’s medieval past. Located right in the heart of Odense, this imposing brick Gothic church is not just a place of worship but a profound symbol of the country's early Christian and royal heritage. The cathedral is named after King Canute IV, the patron saint of Denmark, who was murdered in 1086 in a nearby church during a rebellion. His remains, along with those of his brother Benedict, are entombed in the crypt, making this one of the most significant royal burial sites in the country. The architecture is stunning in its simplicity and harmony. Built primarily in the 13th century in the red brick Gothic style so typical of Danish churches, the cathedral offers soaring vaulted ceilings, beautiful stained-glass windows, and a serene, almost ascetic atmosphere. It's very different from the gold-laden cathedrals you might find in southern Europe — there's a distinct Northern dignity, simplicity and restraint here. One of the most remarkable features is the intricately carved 16th-century altarpiece by Claus Berg, a masterwork of late Gothic wood sculpture. It’s a treasure trove of detail, depicting scenes from the life of Christ and filled with symbolic figures and royal patrons — including King Hans and Queen Christine, who are also buried here. The cathedral is closely tied to the legacy of Hans Christian Andersen as well, who grew up in Odense. While he wasn’t directly involved with the church, the melancholy beauty and spiritual weight of the place seem to echo the tone of many of his fairy tales. In sum, Odense Cathedral is more than just a beautiful building — it’s a gateway into the soul of Denmark: a land of kings and saints, storytellers, Viking of old faith and deep-rooted tradition. Don’t miss it if you’re visiting the city.
Dmitry Z — Google review
Stunning Odense & the Hans Christian Andersen House/Museum No visit to Odense is complete without a visit to the Hans Christian Andersen Birthplace & Museum, its multimedia tour through the life of this famed author, story teller and poet is truly a must do when in Odense! This interactive tour is extremely well produced and gives a fairly complete inside into the man and his life! His works translated into 180 languages which include such blockbusters as The Little Mermaid, The Tin-soldier are globally recognised fairy tales, which many kids will know! (Just make sure your head phones are fully charged) Of course roaming around the main City Hall square and surrounds, as well as the 11th Century St. Canute’s Cathedral, build in honour of the Danish King by same name is part of our visitations to places of faith & worship at each destination! The first impressions of Odense are impactful and the stuff lifelong memories are made off! Enjoy this little pictorial of our introduction to Denmark! #scandinavia #denmark #odense #museum #hanschristianandersen #stcanutescathedral #farmersmarketodense #europeantour #touristystuff

Beautiful and well maintained I went there in late morning on weekday and there were not many people I recommend to walk around and check out their garden at the back. It was green, clean and nice. There were a few benches suitable for sitting down and relaxing Entrance is free
Chayaporn A — Google review
This Cathedral is an enchanting place which I consider sacred as the meaning for espiritual people connected to God. It is an architectural master piece, considered the finest Gotic building in Denmark, consisting of a high nave with its bell tower, bricks built. The altarpiece has a magnificent carved work representing the pasion of Jesus Christ, I was lucky to see the back of it which has paintings of Adam and Eve and of the Holy Spirit among others (this area is not open to the public), and even you might listen to the pipe organ while visiting it, aditionally it brings the memory of Hans Christian Andersen as He was baptized in this place, you can find it at the right handside once getting in. The Entrance is free with also a smart gate in its facade, it is not usualy crowded!
Karina F — Google review
We visited the cathedral located Odense while en route to Renders on the 9th May 2023 (Tuesday). The cathedral was built in 11th century and named after Dannish King Canute. It's interesting to know about King Canute and his adventure. Do make a visit while you are in Odense, which is more enriching apart visitng the shopping outlets.

The Danmarks Jernbanemuseum, also known as the Danish Railway Museum, is a must-visit for train enthusiasts. Located near Odense's main train station, it boasts an impressive collection of over 50 meticulously restored steam and diesel locomotives, carriages, model railways, and railway memorabilia. Notable exhibits include King Christian IX's royal carriage and a diverse range of engines and wagons dating from 1868 to 1981.
It's nice and cozy. Not too big, but you can easily spend there 2 hours. There's a small train, that you can go with your kids. And it's a real paradise for those who are fond of trains.
Ekaterina K — Google review
Absolutely an awesome experience! Definitely worth a visit if you're into trains and locomotives. They have around five steam trains and seven large old diesel locomotives, including the MY, MX, and MZ classes. There's also a bunch of other cool trains—some you can even ride! You can learn a lot about the history of the Danish railway, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. In short: The best railway museum in Denmark!
ProTobias P — Google review
Best museum I’ve been! How can someone give less than 5 stars? Trains that you can board on, detailed descriptions, amazing playground, mini train for kids and grownups, pretend play area with costumes upstairs, clean toilets and changing tables, vintage bus tour that takes us around the town, friendly helpful staff at the gift shop who patiently explained to me the characters and themes of each Danish picture book. Ticket gives you unlimited entries all day; we actually went back for another mini train ride. I can’t wait to come back again!
Dee L — Google review
I really wouldn’t have thought so, but this is a great museum for people of all ages. We began our visit with a tour with the mini train that runs every hour. If you are an adult and visit without kids, I would still recommend that you take the train. It’s an experience in itself! The museum itself is vast. We arrived around midday and ran out of time when the museum closed at 16:00 o clock. I would try to arrive earlier next time to be able to see more of it. There are several sections that are very interesting - ferries for trains, the royal carriages, old steam engines. I would gladly come again. Kids can enter free of charge!
Ulrike J — Google review
A good mix of stuff for children and adults. I got there just as it opened and it was quiet and peaceful. My only feedback would be for more platforms to allow closer view of the steam engines, although I understand that it might be difficult with HSE concerns.
Simon S — Google review
A beautiful museum. There's a lot to see and even a chance to board the trains. There's a wonderful puzzle at the end, which rounds off the visit nicely. Definitely plan a visit.
Marcel R — Google review
Just next to train station, good for family to visit. Train, ship , many models. Good to visit.

Many items are displayed and most can be touched, fiddled with, sat on etc. In addition to the permanent exhibition there is always a special exhibition in the back hall, which in this case was “Young in the 80s” and was actually the most fun part in my opinion. The gift shop also offers a nice selection of items and admission price is friendly. Probably around an hour is enough to see things (depending on the grade of nostalgy of course). I was only missing a little more explanation about specific items or about why exactly this or that has been chosen to represent a decade. Overall, maybe not the largest or most special museum, but a superb experience and a lot of fun.

Visited this museum spontaneous and enjoyed it very much. You can touch everything, stay on the really old sofas, open every single wardrobe. It is a small museum, we spent about 1.5h there. Strongly recommend.

Interesting little museum that shows how we lived in the different decades from 1900 to the 1990s. You are allowed to sit in the exhibition, open the cabinets and touch all the things, so it really like going back in time :)

Nice and small exhibit. Gives a really good impression how just how much things changed over a hundred years - and you can interact with most of the exhibits, which is neat.

The garden is home to Odense Castle, built in 1720 with French-inspired architecture. Visitors can enjoy various events such as concerts and seasonal light displays. With its central location near Odense's Central Station, the garden offers a serene setting for leisurely walks among old trees and expansive lawns.

Coffee shop
Velodrom Kaffebar, situated in the residential Fruens Boge neighborhood, is a unique coffee shop that has undergone extensive renovations since owner Kare Loll started working on the defunct train station from 1876. Taking advantage of the pandemic period, Loll restored the building to its original state before reopening in early 2022. The cafe exudes an industrial yet inviting ambiance, complete with a station clock and seating areas reminiscent of vintage cars.
Such a charming place! Great food for your breakfast/brunch. Easy to find a parking. Lovely jazzy background music. Gives you all the vibes of being on a journey (because of the railways theme inside) and yet perfectly still. The serenity of the place is so unique. The staff speaks great english and patient to illustrate everything about the Danish specialties that they have. The serving is neat and quick. The coffee is so fresh and powerful. There’s a train track in the back of the place but you hear and feel nothing of any train cars passing by. This place takes you on journey but makes you feel perfectly and quietly calm in place. Surrounding Nature outside is fantastic.

Pretty unique place with its special antique atmosphere. Had a scone and a coffee and did enjoy them both, though I'll say the interaction with the staff was the best! Really kind and chill, something which lacks most places I feel. ^^ Loved the decor especially, which is what drew me here in the first place.

From exotic treats to familiar favorites like burgers and pizza, there's something for every palate. The friendly stall owners often offer samples before you make your choice. The spacious 12-meter-long bar provides an extensive selection of drinks. With ample seating and a cozy atmosphere, it's the perfect spot to savor your meal, especially during the winter months when it's heated.
Nice area, made into a street with food , not real trucks, but section with Indian, Thai , Arabic , Pubs , Icecream etc, a real food court. Big and spacious and , next time i need to try it all , but it looks delicious. Each counter had an example plate presented to see what you get , how big the portions would be and what kind of food to expect. Very nice , see you soon , again.

Korean food from the first food shop. It was well prepared. Nice fresh vegetables. Lots of delicious chicken. It was a huge portion. Could barely eat up. A little subjective opinion is that compared to Thai and Vietnamese food the Korean food was just spicy. It didn't have all the different flavors from herbs and other ingredients which you taste when eating Thai or Vietnamese. But that is just my opinion. The food was really well prepared, fresh, nice and inviting. Arkaden Food Market in general is a nice and relaxed place with lots of different foods from all over the world. Everything is really delicious, but maybe a bit expensive.

It was my third Arkade visit with family and my first since March-2020 & COVID-19 Pandemic. As usual, it was an amazing experience, the place is a peaceful, relaxed environment, however, noticed fewer shops compared to my last year's visit, hoping to see more options, but still enough yummy menus to treat your stomach. Drinks are a bit expensive. Will review again in a few weeks on my next visit.

While there isn't a huge variety of food stalls, we were not disappointed by the stalls we tried. The staff are also very lovely.
Lynn T — Google review
Great food and selection, just wish there was a slightly bigger selection of Asian food. Plenty of seating spots, so waiting for a spot shouldn't be a problem. All the people from the various stalls I've met have been friendly and polite; even got a taste test from some of them! The pricing can be a bit expensive when compared to a regular restaurant, but still quite worth it!

Swimming facility
Odense Havnebad, inaugurated in 2016, offers a capacity for 300 people and is open year-round except on public holidays. It's a popular spot with free entry and features cold water for swimming and a warm sauna. Visitors are advised to leave their shoes at the entrance, shower before entering the water, and bring a mat or towel if using the sauna. The outdoor pool is located at the harbor and includes facilities such as showers and changing rooms.
Well this was fun!! And free! What a great combo! The water was cold but the sauna was warm. We felt so alive! There were many people here too, so it was fun to have comerarderyness with fellow crazy people going in cold water on a cold day! 🥶 🤪 Key points: + Leave your shoes at the entrance. + Shower and wash before you go in the water. There are private showers in a locked room for those of us who are more body shy. + If you are going to sit in the sauna, bring a little mat or towel to sit on...that's the rule. + Check the opening times! + It's free!!! 💰 🤑 💸 💲

The North Atlantic House is a charming establishment that offers delectable and top-notch cuisine, with an ambiance that many find appealing. However, some individuals may perceive the service as overly standardized. Rather than reciting detailed descriptions of dishes like poetic verses, it would be more efficient to provide a written description on the menu itself. Moreover, it is an ideal place for a delightful brunch with family, thanks to its convenient location and friendly staff.
Lovely place to experience the Nordic cultures of Greenland, Iceland and Faroe Islands. The house also has an amazing restaurant and a lovely gift shop. The receptionist did just delete my payment instead helping me to solve the issue. She just said the hotel does not want to help the customer and I have to pay the fine. Also the room was very tiny, there was one lamp which I could not turn off over night, so I had to turn off the whole electricity in my apartment and that is why I was not able to charge my phone over night. I was a little late for breakfast and even thought I paid for it, they refused to give me any food. I had no DKK since I arrived at night and I could not buy me any food. Nice and small ice hockey stadium a bit outside of the city but good reachable by tram. Because of the small size all the seats are close to the ice and there is a good view. There are some screens hanging in the middle over the ice rink. But there are no replays shown. There are some bars and kiosks in the corners with a wide offer of beverages and sausages. It is not overpriced. However, during the break the waiting time is rather high. Unfortunately far not enough toilets, especially for woman. The online ticketing was very good and easy.

I had the opportunity to visit the place, being received by the artist himself and walk around like if it was my study… Was very nice to have a catalog given by him and read about every artwork I had antes to know, besides the staff is very friendly and chatty

Absolutely fantastic workshop & shop & event venue. I was lucky enough to attend dinner as part of a conference, and the venue was packed with the sculptures and artifacts created by the artist. Extremely powerful (the upside down cow as pendulum!) and thought-provoking.

Gallery Galschiøt is a very nice little gallery with mostly Galschiøt's art but also with other artists arts and he even have a workshop. The gallery is free to visit and you can in the workshop see the artists work, if you are lucky you can meet Galschiøt himself. You can also buy some art in there.

Step into Kramboden i Odense and take a journey through time as you explore its nostalgic collection of old kitchenware, toys, tools, and various unique items. With its old-fashioned charm and an array of items to browse through, this store offers a wonderful experience that will surely bring back memories and spark curiosity.
Grand piece of Denmark history in one place, in every single part collected there. I didn't find any souvenir or gift in Odense, until I found this place. Highly recommended to visit.
Katarzyna C — Google review
I enjoyed looking at everything in this store! It is so charming and had many old knickknacks. Picked up a few things as souvenirs. If you’re looking for a unique spot to bring something small home, I’d definitely try this place. It has two stories as well as an another section in the back.
Keziah — Google review
To walk into a store like this that spans history in a house and feel the objects muttering to you about their secret lives is one of the most admirable things to do in Odense. This store had it all and more. It was tremendously beautiful to walk from room to smaller room until there was nowhere left to go and a ringing silence that stopped my mind. Now that's ancient!

Google says:Antique furniture store but tht is not correct This is like an old fashioned hardwarestore way out in the country. They have almost anything and the cellar, which used to be storeroom is open for browsing. Prices are not supercheap, as the owner knows that once the item is sold it wil never come again.

Nestled in the heart of Denmark, Tarup Davinde phønix is a stunning natural area that boasts a rich history shaped by over a century of gravel mining. Today, this transformed landscape features rolling hills and more than 70 picturesque lakes, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers. Visitors can enjoy various outdoor activities such as hiking along the well-marked Tarup-Davinde path or engaging in team-building adventures like archery and raft building on the serene waters.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful area to walk and run in. And once a month, there is access to the Stone Museum, which is a classic geological museum. However, you may be surprised that there are various Icelander competitions, as the Icelander Association does not make it known that they have competitions on site. For this reason, some trail systems may also be closed, even though it is a publicly accessible place.

(Translated by Google) Super beautiful natural area with lots of history, which has helped to shape nature through many years of gravel and stone extraction. I had the pleasure of nature guide Henrik in connection with a nice team building event. He took us on a three-hour tour of the area while we had to complete various tasks - in this case the bonfire relay, archery and raft building, as well as racing it across one of the lakes. Henrik was an extremely competent storyteller, and could tell everything about both the history of the entire area as well as the wildlife and fauna. It was really interesting and educational. I can definitely recommend the entire Tarup-Davinde area, regardless of whether you just want to go out and enjoy nature with the family or organize an exciting team building day.

Beautiful park all year long. A great place to just chill and relax by the river. I also go there for a run along the river in the early morning.
